Family with 2 kids. Jody and Adam, a couple together over 25 years with two kids, share how joining Infinity and attending its free masterclass transformed their finances. Previously living paycheck to paycheck, overspending, and misusing credit, they learned budgeting, daily-interest mortgage strategies, and small habit changes that saved significant interest and accelerated repayment. After overcoming initial skepticism and a six month enrolment hurdle involving cross-secured loans, they implemented Infinity’s plan, halved a $350kmortgage to $168k in eight months, acquired investment properties (including SMSF holdings), and cut discretionary spending (coffees, takeaways, alcohol). The couple emphasises mindset shifts, family involvement, teaching kids saving habits, accountability and the supportive Infinity community. Their near-term goal is to be mortgage-free withintwo years and continue building their property portfolio. They recommend starting small (track coffees/lunches), attend the masterclass to run numbers, and commit to the plan to achieve rapid financial progress. 👉 Start by watching the FREE webinar and see what's possible: https://bit.ly/43V2jKN

[0:00] This is actually so basic.
[0:02] Why is schools not teaching this?
[0:04] Which is, it's absolutely insane.
[0:06] Yeah.
[0:07] They just, and banks as well.
[0:08] I mean, of course, banks are going to love you being stuck for 30 years with them.
[0:11] They're going to make maximum profits.
[0:12] But to not be taught at school is crazy.
[0:16] Money is the root of all evil.
[0:17] The fucking lack of it is.
[0:18] Not money, the lack of understanding money.
[0:21] When I put that into emphasis, when I realized that psychological effect and how it hit our family, I have to be in the fucking way.
[0:30] With Graham Heim.
[0:31] Graham Heim.
[0:35] This is where Jodie and Adam started.
[0:37] Running a successful business.
[0:40] Earning good money, but constantly chasing cash just to stay on top of it.
[0:45] Money coming in, money going out.
[0:48] No structure, no real plan, just constant pressure.
[0:52] A mindset of, we've worked hard, we deserve it.
[0:57] But deep down, they knew something wasn't right.
[1:00] Until
[1:02] they found infinity.
[1:04] What started as curiosity quickly became a complete reset.
[1:08] They restructured everything.
[1:10] And for the first time, their money started working for them.
[1:14] Fast forward to today, they have multiple investment properties, a $3.5 million portfolio, and more in redraw than what they owe on their home.
[1:23] But the biggest shift wasn't just financial, it was their mindset.
[1:28] This is Jodie and Adam's story.
[1:32] Welcome back to the Money Mentor Podcast where we have our latest episode of changing lives financially.
[1:38] We have Jodie and Adam today.
[1:40] Hey guys, how are you doing?
[1:41] Yeah, good, thank you.
[1:42] Nerves are all out now, feel a bit more comfortable.
[1:45] Yeah, I feel a bit better now.
[1:47] Awesome, awesome.
[1:47] Well, let's start off with telling us a little bit about yourselves, what life was like before you met Infinity, all the ins and outs, how you met, the family dynamics, everything.
[1:57] So we've been together for quite some time, over 25 years.
[2:03] We met when we were high school sweethearts, got married, had some kids, we're in our own business and life's flown by really.
[2:15] Yeah.
[2:15] 25 years.
[2:16] That's a long time.
[2:17] Yeah.
[2:18] How many kids?
[2:19] Two kids.
[2:20] Yeah.
[2:20] And what type of business are we running?
[2:22] I'm an electrician by trade, but we run an appliance repair business.
[2:26] Okay.
[2:26] And you're working in the business as well.
[2:27] Yeah.
[2:28] Yeah.
[2:28] And what did life look like financially before you met Infinity?
[2:33] Oh, before Infinity.
[2:34] Um, uh, like everyone, um, you know, thought we were, you know, doing well.
[2:41] Um, yeah, it was, yeah, manageable.
[2:45] We were getting through it.
[2:46] It was good, but yeah.
[2:48] Just weren't getting anywhere.
[2:50] And meeting infinity, coming on board just completely opens our eyes to see what potential there is and actually what we were doing wrong, like, and how much growth, especially so quickly financially we've been able to achieve.
[3:06] Yeah.
[3:06] Yeah.
[3:07] And so when you say you realise you were doing so much wrong before infinity, what did wrong look like?
[3:13] Talk to me about what wrong was.
[3:16] Well, we've had a mortgage for 20 years and in 20 years the amount of money that we have spent just because, you know, we work hard, we're entitled to, you know, why not?
[3:30] And we could have been debt free easily 10 years ago.
[3:33] Yeah.
[3:34] You know, and we still have another $350,000 a go.
[3:38] Like to think the amount of money that we have just wasted.
[3:41] Yeah.
[3:42] Yeah.
[3:42] Yeah.
[3:43] So it was more before infinity, wrong to you was just we were just spending everything we earned.
[3:47] There was no surplus, nothing extra to the home loan.
[3:50] Yeah.
[3:52] Yeah.
[3:52] I mean, we had a bit of like savings, a bit of a buffer for a rainy day, but.
[3:57] We weren't afraid to spend some of that, you know, rather than put it on the house.
[4:02] Yep.
[4:03] Yeah, we would spend it and then just put money back into it and the vicious cycle started from there.
[4:08] Yeah.
[4:08] So you'd build savings and then it would go out as quickly as you could build it.
[4:11] Yep.
[4:12] So we weren't really using a budget.
[4:15] No.
[4:15] No.
[4:15] We didn't know what that word was.
[4:17] So my budget was, I know how much we need to pay on bills and expenses.
[4:24] which, you know, that's fine.
[4:26] But then what was left over, we could just spend on whatever we choose.
[4:30] So hence we just wasted all that money.
[4:33] Yeah.
[4:33] Just on immaterial.
[4:35] There were even times where we tried to protect that buffer, the savings, and we'd go interest-free or get the credit card.
[4:42] So you'd go and get like an interest-free credit card to, cause you thought you were saving the savings.
[4:47] Let's do that.
[4:48] Yeah.
[4:48] We're saving, got plenty of time to pay it off.
[4:50] Yep.
[4:51] Rather than use the money we had, we'd go interest-free at Harvey Norman.
[4:55] Was this advice that you got from someone or you just thought it was the smart thing to do?
[5:00] It was just too easy to get.
[5:02] That's the problem, right?
[5:03] They are way too easy to get.
[5:05] Especially those interest-free credit cards from, they're like Go MasterCard back in the day and then Latitude took them over.
[5:11] So many people don't realise their credit cards.
[5:13] Yeah.
[5:15] Yeah.
[5:16] And people don't realise the interest that you're paying on them.
[5:19] So you just pay the minimum repayment and that's it.
[5:22] And then you find a lot of people pay them off in the interest free period, think they've done such a great job, don't realize there's actually fees attached to it.
[5:28] So it wasn't really free money.
[5:30] And then they don't cancel them because they didn't realize they were credit cards.
[5:33] And then when Latitude took it over, they introduced all these new fees.
[5:36] A lot of clients had new email addresses or postal addresses, didn't get the notice and then started going into a reason on a credit card they completely forgot they had.
[5:45] So we've seen that a lot.
[5:48] Definitely not one of the only people we've seen with that.
[5:51] And then talk to me about how you found infinity when you found them and what made you want to do our webinar and masterclass.
[5:58] So why did we both just look at each other?
[6:00] That's Jamie's cup of tea.
[6:02] I came across Money Mentor on Instagram, watched a snippet of Graham.
[6:08] Then I sat down and watched the webinar and I was drawn to it.
[6:14] So you did it by yourself?
[6:16] Yeah.
[6:17] Okay.
[6:17] Yeah, because Adam, he's not into any of that at all.
[6:21] I then told him about it.
[6:22] He's like, no, no way, another one of those skimmy scams.
[6:26] Yeah.
[6:27] You know, what do you even watch that shit for?
[6:28] Like you shouldn't.
[6:29] And I'm like, okay then.
[6:31] And at the same time she was reading the Barefoot Investor book.
[6:34] At the same time as seeing Graham and Infinity.
[6:37] I had read it, yes, and tried to, you know, do different bank accounts for different things.
[6:44] And then I'd come across Graham, told Adam about it.
[6:46] Adam's like, no, no, you know, we're not going into that.
[6:49] It's, you know, another one of those marketing gimmicks.
[6:53] So I left it.
[6:54] Then...
[6:55] 18 months later.
[6:56] Well, that was when we joined.
[6:57] Then a few months later, it was actually a friend of ours we saw wearing an Infinity shirt.
[7:03] And I said to Adam, oh my gosh, he's wearing an Infinity shirt.
[7:05] See, it mustn't be a scam.
[7:07] You need to talk to him about it.
[7:09] So he spoke to him and he's like, mate, what are you doing?
[7:13] Get on board.
[7:14] Like, you need to.
[7:15] I was like, why haven't you told me about this?
[7:17] Like, where have you been?
[7:18] And he's like, well, we just don't tell people anymore because we're, you know, there are too many sceptics and negative people.
[7:25] And I'm like, well, how is it?
[7:27] Do you like it?
[7:28] And he's like, mate, just fucking do it.
[7:30] And he's the best mate from school, so I could trust him, you know what I mean?
[7:35] More than your wife.
[7:36] Well, yeah.
[7:39] So like after that, we're like, let's just do it.
[7:41] So we, yeah, sat in on the masterclass and then when we did the masterclass, we were just like, oh, my God, we should have done this frigging 10, 20 years ago.
[7:49] Like, oh, my God.
[7:50] Do you have a told you so moment?
[7:52] Oh, yeah.
[7:54] Just to hear the amount of money.
[7:57] Like that lightbulb moment of, oh, my God, how much money we have wasted paying in interest and, you know, spending for the sake of spending.
[8:07] So when we did the masterclass, we were literally like, okay, we need to sign up now.
[8:11] Like Adam and I are all or nothing type of people.
[8:14] Yep.
[8:15] So we signed up and then we're like, what if we don't get accepted?
[8:19] Then we had those fears.
[8:20] We were very fortunate to get accepted but we had a, yeah, six-month journey to get over the line because we had an investment property, commercial investment property that was cross-securitised with our principal price of residence.
[8:39] And we nearly couldn't join Infinity and –
[8:42] We actually got the email to say, look, we'll refund you your money.
[8:45] We can't help you.
[8:46] Yeah.
[8:48] And we were like, no, we can't take no.
[8:50] We need them.
[8:51] So you pushed us.
[8:52] Yeah.
[8:52] Yeah.
[8:53] And then that person pushed us onto Travis and Travis is like, let me have a look.
[8:58] He's like,
[8:59] And Travis is quite good with those complex.
[9:01] He was absolutely sensational.
[9:04] Like we literally owe everything to Travis for getting us over the line.
[9:09] He worked with us for months.
[9:11] He's like, you need to say this to your bank.
[9:13] This is what you need to ask for.
[9:16] No, no, you don't want that.
[9:17] Make sure you ask for this.
[9:19] And then he's like, push back.
[9:20] And honestly, if it was not for Travis, we would not have been able to uncross-securitise, restructure both our personal loan, our home loan, sorry, and our commercial property.
[9:31] to sort them out then we jumped on board so we didn't give up no yeah but neither did you no so that's a true testament to do that you've created your own journey along the way with our help by just not giving up yeah we weren't taking but even in that six months from when we we did get it fully accepted like we we started implementing everything from the master class in that six months
[9:53] So we had significant progress from that masterclass to when we actually signed up.
[9:59] Without Infinity's official help, just from what we learnt in that masterclass.
[10:04] That's amazing.
[10:04] So just from the two days of financial education, which we obviously say from there there's no obligation to work with us, that it's just an option.
[10:11] Correct.
[10:11] But we're still giving you plenty of value for what you're paying for.
[10:15] So you went and did that yourself while we were fighting the fight to get you on board.
[10:20] And even those little changes like that you give guidance, like, you know, don't have money in a savings account, like put it on your mortgage.
[10:28] Mortgage is calculated daily.
[10:30] Like you hear it, but for me especially, I'm a visual person.
[10:35] When I see it, the changes alone.
[10:38] So just in shifting our money literally before we joined Infinity, so from the masterclass to when we joined, the saving in interest a month just in that one shift is $200, $300 a week.
[10:50] Yeah.
[10:50] Before we even jumped on board.
[10:52] Yep.
[10:53] Like that's our money that we're donating to the bank.
[10:56] Yep.
[10:56] Just freely giving it away.
[10:58] Yep.
[10:58] Because when we weren't educated in that.
[11:01] Yeah.
[11:01] Yeah.
[11:02] Yeah.
[11:03] And that's the thing, right?
[11:03] We don't get that education.
[11:05] No.
[11:05] It's something so, when you actually learn it on the masterclass, you're like, this is actually so basic.
[11:10] Why are schools not teaching this?
[11:12] Yeah.
[11:13] Which is, it's absolutely insane.
[11:14] Yeah.
[11:15] Yeah.
[11:15] They just, and banks as well.
[11:16] I mean, of course, banks are going to love you being stuck for 30 years with them.
[11:19] They're going to make maximum profits.
[11:21] But to not be taught at school is crazy.
[11:24] Yes.
[11:26] Yes.
[11:27] And to think so many people are crippled by the banks.
[11:29] Yeah.
[11:30] They just don't, they don't, it's not that they don't care, but they just don't realise what they do to people.
[11:36] Like, yeah.
[11:37] That's how they're making money.
[11:38] It's like the old saying, you know, like you follow a cripple, you're going to develop a limp.
[11:42] Oh yeah, I've never heard that.
[11:43] I like that.
[11:44] Yeah.
[11:44] Yeah.
[11:45] Well, that's what the banks do.
[11:47] So, and people just limp along and don't take full advantage of what they could do.
[11:53] Yeah.
[11:53] It's like the banks are the boss.
[11:55] Pretty much and we're just following their rules.
[11:58] Yeah.
[11:59] And so in the masterclass, what was that light bulb moment apart from that exercise where you got to run your own numbers?
[12:04] What was the light bulb moment where you both just went, this is for us?
[12:08] Oh, the calculator.
[12:09] When we did the calculator.
[12:10] The out of debt calculator.
[12:12] Yep.
[12:13] When we worked out how much interest we'd wasted over the years, the little things like the coffees a day, the lunches a day.
[12:20] Designer bags.
[12:21] Yeah.
[12:21] I'm not letting you get off too lightly on that one.
[12:24] And yeah, the alcohol, like you just add it all up and you're like, oh my God, what a waste.
[12:29] Yeah.
[12:30] And what was the shift for you when you came on board and Travis is fighting for you.
[12:35] We finally got you on board.
[12:36] And then you go through what your strategy looks like and then the whole overhaul of the budget.
[12:41] How did that feel?
[12:42] And what did that look like for you?
[12:43] Yeah.
[12:45] So the budget.
[12:48] You still say it like it's a bad word.
[12:50] Well, to be honest, I was really daunted by it, really daunted, like in having to live on a budget.
[12:58] Yeah, I honestly like that was the only thing holding me back was I don't know if I can live on a budget.
[13:04] Like in, you know, in the 20, 30 years of, you know, being independent, yeah.
[13:11] to now having to rein in my spending, which is what I thought it was, I was really concerned because I was, if I go downtown and I see something I like or I want, I'll buy it.
[13:21] Because I work hard.
[13:23] Why not?
[13:24] You know, in growing up, you know, I was one of six.
[13:29] So, you know, I had the hand-me-downs, you know, when we ran out of food, well, we had to wait till payday, which if it's three, four days away, well, we have to make do.
[13:37] So...
[13:39] in being restricted in growing up, mind you, not knowing any different, to now being the opposite in being able to have funds, I would buy it.
[13:50] You know, if the kids needed something, I would buy it.
[13:53] So therefore to rein in my spendings, I was very concerned.
[13:57] But then when we sat down with our RM and he's like, no, the budget is what you make it.
[14:02] You know, if you spend, that's fine.
[14:05] Obviously you just see that the big picture is –
[14:08] you're not going to achieve that financial independence and to be mortgage-free in a quicker time rather than a longer time.
[14:16] Yeah.
[14:16] So for us, our shifts changed, our mind shift changed, our priorities changed.
[14:22] For me, do I need that, you know, new jumper downtown?
[14:25] No, I don't.
[14:27] And it...
[14:28] Again, implementing those small changes for me, they were actually really big, but I feel so much better because of it.
[14:35] Yeah.
[14:36] Yeah.
[14:36] So you've embraced it now.
[14:38] Definitely.
[14:39] Do you think it took a couple of months or you just kind of went, okay, I've got to do it.
[14:42] And then you started seeing the results.
[14:43] Yeah.
[14:44] Yeah, it was hard.
[14:45] I mean, during the masterclass when Jay says, you know, set your FFF, we started at $900.
[14:51] For a family of four.
[14:53] Yeah.
[14:54] Yeah, and what did we say is our FFF for a family of four?
[14:57] Yeah.
[14:58] $750.
[14:59] So we were a little bit greedy, but we've got it down to, what is it, $450?
[15:02] $450.
[15:02] $450.
[15:04] $4.50 now for a family in four.
[15:05] That's ambitious.
[15:06] Yeah.
[15:07] We honestly have cut back like so much.
[15:11] Like and, you know, I personally am proud of how much I've cut back because, you know, I'd get parcels in at work delivery, you know, every week.
[15:21] And now I'm lucky to get one every couple of months.
[15:24] That's incredible.
[15:24] And that's because it's.
[15:26] A need, not a want.
[15:28] Yeah.
[15:29] Yeah.
[15:29] Because you're just fulfilling that like serotonin hit.
[15:31] Yeah.
[15:32] Yeah.
[15:32] So because you were talking about your childhood, you were saying it's almost like from where you were as a child, you wanted to do the opposite as an adult and you wanted your kids to not have the childhood that you had.
[15:43] So I think that drives a lot of people is what happened in their childhood.
[15:46] Did you have something similar?
[15:47] Yeah.
[15:48] Yeah, we were pretty well off.
[15:49] Mum and Dad sort of give us anything we wanted really.
[15:52] Like they tried to do it but, you know, I went through childhood with my parents redrawing on their loan all the time, refinancing, all that kind of stuff.
[16:01] So they were stuck in that refinance cycle as well.
[16:04] So you're following those same patterns when you get older.
[16:08] Yeah.
[16:08] Because that's all you know.
[16:10] Exactly.
[16:11] And you think that that's normal.
[16:13] And that that's okay.
[16:14] But actually it's not.
[16:16] And it's education.
[16:18] Once you're given the right education and the right guidance, the changes that it can do for your lives are just phenomenal.
[16:25] Yeah.
[16:25] But you've got to embrace it too, right?
[16:27] Yeah.
[16:27] We can teach so many people.
[16:30] Not everyone does it.
[16:31] They just kind of go, oh, yeah, I don't want to live on a budget.
[16:33] And then they walk away.
[16:34] And that's fine.
[16:35] We don't want clients like that.
[16:36] That's absolutely fine.
[16:37] But you guys embraced it.
[16:39] Yeah.
[16:40] You actually have to take it on board.
[16:42] Because for us, like my life goal, and this may seem really small in the scheme of things, but my life goal was to be mortgage free.
[16:51] So when we came across Infinity and the whole point of Infinity, first and foremost, is obviously to pay off your mortgage.
[16:59] Yeah.
[17:00] And then if you want to, you know, look to invest or grow wealth, you know, that's amazing as well.
[17:05] Yeah.
[17:05] So initially for me, for Infinity, it was like we need to get rid of this mortgage, you know, for us to be mortgage free to then have the option to retire when we're ready, not because we have to keep working because we've still got a mortgage.
[17:21] That was what drew me initially.
[17:23] Yeah.
[17:25] But in joining Infinity, like that mind shift has changed so much.
[17:29] Yeah.
[17:30] My life goal was to finish work early and retire.
[17:32] But you don't think of the big picture that's, you know, you don't want to be paying your mortgage off out of your super.
[17:39] Yeah.
[17:39] You know what I mean?
[17:40] Like you don't think of that thing.
[17:41] But that's the reality for so many, right, before they meet us.
[17:44] The whole idea is to enjoy your retirement.
[17:46] Yeah.
[17:47] Who wants to use their super money that you've worked hard for to keep paying your mortgage off?
[17:52] Because then what?
[17:53] Yeah.
[17:53] You stop working, you've used your super to pay off your homeland.
[17:56] How are you going to buy your food?
[17:57] That's why so many people go back to work or have to work.
[17:59] Yeah, or have to work.
[18:01] Yeah.
[18:01] But also when, I mean, for me when we retire, I want us to be financially comfortable.
[18:06] Like, you know, I don't want to have to be living off the government, you know, still want to be able to go away, go overseas, if that's what we choose to do.
[18:14] So initially it was to pay off the mortgage, but now it's also to grow wealth.
[18:19] Like I can see the end goal of being mortgage-free, right,
[18:25] a lot quicker than we anticipated yeah which is such an amazing feeling um we're not there yet but you know our goal is within two years and i know that we'll smash that easily which is that's phenomenal when you're usually looking at a 30-year loan to say two years yeah is amazing so what was the home loan balance when you started oh god when we joined within yeah um it's 350 yeah and where are we now
[18:51] 168.
[18:52] Which is amazing.
[18:54] Yeah.
[18:55] Some people aren't doing that in 10 years.
[18:56] Yeah.
[18:58] And how have we done it?
[18:58] Just purely from budgeting?
[19:00] Budgeting, restructuring our finances, um,
[19:04] Even like work.
[19:05] Like we were at a point at work where we didn't want to grow.
[19:08] We didn't want to change.
[19:09] You were happy to coast.
[19:11] We tried to stay under that next tax bracket.
[19:13] So like we'd visit the tax man and be like, you know, we don't want to get there.
[19:17] And he'd like, well, you know, you need to spend 15, 20 grand, you know, find something to spend to stay there.
[19:23] But we had the possibility to grow.
[19:25] We had plenty of work.
[19:26] So we're like, after infinity, we're like, let's do it.
[19:28] Like it's more money in our goddamn pockets.
[19:31] So that's what we did.
[19:32] So that's helping as well.
[19:33] Yeah, because if you're going to go earn $100,000 and let's say you're in the highest tax bracket, okay, you're getting taxed at 47%.
[19:40] Yes, that sounds scary, but do you still not have the other 53%?
[19:43] Yeah.
[19:44] That then increases borrowing capacity, increases debt reduction potential.
[19:47] Yeah.
[19:48] Yeah.
[19:48] There's so many people that hold themselves back in their businesses because they're scared of tax.
[19:52] Yeah.
[19:53] Yeah.
[19:53] But that, again, is education.
[19:55] It is education.
[19:56] Absolutely.
[19:57] Yeah.
[19:58] Like we have learnt so much from Infinity in so many different aspects.
[20:04] And, you know, we have officially only been with Infinity for eight months because we then took six months to restructure.
[20:11] But in that time from when we've done the Masterclass to now, which, you know, it's been phenomenal.
[20:17] What we've learnt and taken on board and embraced is,
[20:20] Yeah, it's amazing.
[20:22] Yeah, you should be absolutely so proud of yourselves.
[20:24] Yeah.
[20:25] To also make, you know, like I said, you didn't give up on yourselves.
[20:28] You didn't give up on us.
[20:29] We were fighting that fight for you, but you were implementing that stuff even without your relationship manager supporting you.
[20:34] Yeah.
[20:34] Because you didn't want to waste any more time.
[20:37] Yeah.
[20:37] And I think that's incredible.
[20:39] So what else?
[20:40] What else have we done?
[20:41] So huge debt reduction results, which are amazing.
[20:44] But what else have we achieved?
[20:49] God.
[20:52] I don't know.
[20:53] How many properties?
[20:54] Have we gone to any events?
[20:57] Oh, yeah, on that side of it, yeah, we've currently got three properties, one in our super.
[21:01] Yep.
[21:03] That was at our first REM, which was six months after we first signed up on that.
[21:07] No, we signed up end of June and we were there like within a month.
[21:10] Oh, a month, that's right.
[21:11] It was two.
[21:11] Yeah.
[21:13] So we've got three properties at that REM, two in our names and one in our SMSF.
[21:19] And then we have our commercial property plus our principal place of residence.
[21:22] Yeah.
[21:23] Yeah.
[21:24] Did you ever think that would be possible?
[21:25] No.
[21:26] We just wanted to be mortgage free.
[21:28] Yeah.
[21:28] Like investing, you know, we weren't interested.
[21:32] What changed your mind?
[21:33] The masterclass.
[21:34] Okay.
[21:35] The masterclass.
[21:36] Yeah.
[21:36] Yeah.
[21:37] Not just to be mortgage free, that shift went from actually that's going to be a really small goal to let's think big.
[21:43] Let's look at growing wealth.
[21:45] Like, you know, one day when we passed we just wanted to be able to give our kids our house.
[21:50] Now it's so much more than that.
[21:52] We want to, you know, create growth, create wealth and help our children, our grandchildren to get there because honestly I can't see them getting into the market like with –
[22:04] with how expensive house prices are, with how the economy's going, the cost of living.
[22:09] I honestly can't see them getting into the market anytime soon or easily.
[22:14] Yeah.
[22:15] Well, it's interesting.
[22:16] I mean, if you listen to the podcast with Doc Wilson, Australia actually has a very strong economy, but it also comes down to how you approach Australia.
[22:24] the opportunities that you have, right, which is I think quite interesting about education, of course, is one of them.
[22:30] Sometimes you have to go seek that education out.
[22:33] And I think what's really cool about you guys as parents is now you can pass it on to your kids.
[22:36] Yeah.
[22:37] So have we seen any changes in the kids since you've joined Infinity?
[22:40] Yep.
[22:41] Yep.
[22:41] Yep, particularly the daughter.
[22:46] Well, we told her that she was into dance classes and –
[22:52] We had all the streaming services, all that kind of stuff.
[22:54] So we had to lay it on the table and say, you know, let's cut back to one.
[22:59] Do you really need two, three days a week of dance classes?
[23:01] Can we cut back to one?
[23:02] So she come on board.
[23:04] Christmas was a little bit harder for her this year because we had the five present rule with the two kids.
[23:09] So that's the new rule you've implemented now.
[23:11] Yeah.
[23:11] Yeah.
[23:12] How'd they take that?
[23:13] Oh, she was very concerned.
[23:16] Taken back when I first mentioned it.
[23:19] Yeah.
[23:19] But, you know, it's not just a monetary value anymore.
[23:24] Like it's about...
[23:27] You know, for us it's always been creating memories and it's not necessarily how much money you spend on them.
[23:34] You know, it's, yeah, a beautiful day as a whole, yeah.
[23:40] Yeah, but it's for the kids.
[23:42] Like it's dribbled down to the kids as well.
[23:43] Like she just not long started a new job and we said, you know, your first pay, you can go and spend a lot, you know, get what you want because you've started a job.
[23:52] So celebrate the first paycheck.
[23:53] She was reluctant to do that.
[23:55] Really?
[23:55] She's still got it.
[23:56] Eight weeks later she hasn't spent it.
[23:58] That's incredible.
[23:59] She's a spender like her mother.
[24:01] So for her not to spend it and then so both our kids, they both put away 70% of their pay and they have 30% of their pay to spend.
[24:11] Yep.
[24:12] Um, which I think is implementing, you know, some good, um, financial habits to create savings, to help them to one day when they want to buy something to have money put away.
[24:24] Um, but she still hasn't, she hasn't spent a first paycheck and she's still, yeah, just putting money away, which is, yeah, which is good.
[24:31] Cause she sees us.
[24:32] She sees us working hard.
[24:34] She sees, you know, when we go downtown, like I'll say to her, you know, because, you know, we haven't bought much of late and I'll say, oh, that's nice.
[24:41] What do you think of that?
[24:42] And she's like, no, we don't need it, mum.
[24:44] And I'm like, oh, okay.
[24:47] So she's actually helping to encourage myself at times when we're out.
[24:52] Yeah, we all tend to do the same thing, grocery shopping, you know, or whatever.
[24:56] So you bring them into those discussions.
[24:59] Yeah.
[24:59] Yeah.
[25:00] We're like, you know, previously Jodie would get the groceries and they'd be, she'd come home with 20 bucks for the shapes, you know, because they're a dollar each.
[25:07] We don't do that.
[25:08] That's girl math there, right?
[25:09] We're saving money.
[25:09] We don't do that anymore.
[25:11] Like it might be two, three bags, but it's stuff we need, but nothing over the top, so.
[25:17] Yeah, we meal plan, meal prep.
[25:20] So, again, when we go to the shops, you know, okay, what's on the menu for this week?
[25:24] No, we don't need that.
[25:25] We don't need that.
[25:26] We only need this and this.
[25:28] That helps us stay to our budget.
[25:31] We motivate each other.
[25:32] So, like, if I go shopping with Jade and she goes to pick something up, I'm like, I don't even need that.
[25:37] I don't think Daddy G would approve.
[25:39] And then we might get it.
[25:40] So we help each other out.
[25:42] Yeah.
[25:43] Bounce off each other.
[25:44] So now you are both fully invested in the journey.
[25:47] Yeah.
[25:48] So you've done a very big 180.
[25:51] Do you think before when you were very stressed, spending everything you earned, you know, you save and then spend that and you were quite stressed, do you think the kids were feeling that as well?
[26:00] Did they see that?
[26:02] Yeah.
[26:03] Yeah.
[26:03] Kids pick up.
[26:04] They pick up on a lot.
[26:05] They really do.
[26:06] And pre-infinity, I wouldn't talk about money in front of the kids.
[26:12] Um, you know, I'd talk about it to Adam, you know, when they went around, you know, again, we're going to change that stigma.
[26:17] Like how are they meant to learn and, and learn for their future if, if you don't talk about it with them?
[26:24] Yeah.
[26:24] So now we're pretty open.
[26:25] Um, yeah.
[26:27] Yeah, they see our goals and what we're aiming for and they see us working hard.
[26:32] And I think that that's integral for them.
[26:35] Yeah.
[26:36] And they're asking questions and learning along the way.
[26:39] And our kids are teenagers.
[26:40] So, you know, they're- It's important for them now.
[26:43] Yeah.
[26:44] It's not like they're five and, you know, they're spitting the dummy because you won't buy them that, you know, 20 box of shapes.
[26:49] Exactly.
[26:49] They can actually absorb it and understand it.
[26:51] Yeah.
[26:52] Yeah.
[26:52] So what kind of questions are they asking now?
[26:55] We get the odd question about the properties, particularly if they're going to inherit the properties.
[27:00] Yeah.
[27:03] I suppose just questions of how we do things, like how the interest rates work.
[27:07] Oh, that's good.
[27:08] They're good questions.
[27:09] Because, yeah, again, I don't want them to grow up like us, not knowing about that kind of thing.
[27:13] So, yeah.
[27:14] But…
[27:15] How much money are we saving?
[27:17] You know, are you getting ahead?
[27:20] You know, how much are you getting ahead?
[27:24] Yeah, those type of things.
[27:26] You know, we have a check-in with our RM.
[27:29] Or did you get in trouble?
[27:30] Are you on track?
[27:31] You know, those type of questions.
[27:31] Did you get in trouble?
[27:32] I love that.
[27:33] Accountability.
[27:34] Yeah.
[27:34] Yeah.
[27:35] Yeah.
[27:36] So we're not only being held accountable by our RM, we're also being held accountable by our children.
[27:41] By kids.
[27:42] So, yeah, on all fronts.
[27:43] That's not a bad thing though because, you know, obviously you're not always going to have infinity in the home, kind of holding you accountable.
[27:51] You have your couple of meetings a month, but it's good now you've got the kids also making sure it's working.
[27:56] Yeah.
[27:57] Awesome.
[27:58] And what do you feel like is next for you guys?
[28:00] So we've bought the three properties.
[28:02] We're paid off half our home loan already in such a short amount of time.
[28:06] Where do we see ourselves next?
[28:08] God.
[28:09] So smashing down the home loan.
[28:12] Yeah, get rid of that.
[28:13] Yeah.
[28:14] Yeah, and that'll be within two years.
[28:17] So that's really like where we're headed, like straight down the tunnel, you know.
[28:23] Yeah, that's eye on the prize, like which is not that far ahead.
[28:28] And then in the interim, really hoping like the more we keep paying off our mortgage, the more investment properties that will keep coming.
[28:36] Yeah.
[28:36] Okay, so we're still very invested in wanting to grow that portfolio.
[28:39] Definitely.
[28:40] Yeah.
[28:41] I just need to keep telling myself that it's a marathon.
[28:46] It's not a sprint.
[28:47] Yeah, it's not going to happen overnight.
[28:48] Yeah.
[28:49] Yeah.
[28:49] You know, keep checking the bank balance every day thinking that that magic number's just dropped overnight, but no, it hasn't.
[28:55] You know, you still need to keep working hard.
[28:58] Stay on the plan.
[28:58] Yeah.
[28:59] Yeah.
[29:00] And what are some of your favourite things about being part of the Infinity community?
[29:03] Yeah.
[29:05] Oh, the community itself.
[29:06] Yeah.
[29:07] We were, we're pretty quiet, sort of humble people.
[29:11] So when we got invited to the first REM, we were pretty daunted.
[29:15] We didn't know what was going to happen.
[29:16] Alex sort of said, you know, we've got a bit of a surprise for you.
[29:19] Can't tell you exactly.
[29:21] So when we got there, we were like, oh, it's going to be so many people.
[29:23] We're going to be uncomfortable, but everyone's just the same.
[29:26] They're all blue collar workers.
[29:28] Yep.
[29:28] Everyone was friendly.
[29:30] Like it only took us half a day and we're out of our skin.
[29:33] We're chatting with everyone.
[29:34] We're talking to everyone.
[29:34] We met, you know, the Perrymans and Lucy, uh, Casey and, um, Paddlepot Lenny.
[29:41] Yeah, he ate us out of our ice creams.
[29:44] Those people just made it so comfortable.
[29:45] So, you know, we just want them all.
[29:47] Like when's the next room?
[29:48] We said to Alex after it.
[29:49] We're like, let's go.
[29:50] Want to go to another one?
[29:51] Yeah.
[29:52] So that's what we're aiming for?
[29:53] Yeah.
[29:53] Okay.
[29:54] Yeah.
[29:54] So, but you think the community is a really important part of what we offer?
[29:58] Yeah.
[29:58] Yeah.
[29:59] So we like to stay motivated and you get busy in your day-to-day lives.
[30:05] So it is easy to become complacent.
[30:08] So we also draw a lot of inspiration from the podcast.
[30:11] Yep.
[30:12] But also the Facebook community page.
[30:15] And, again, it is like-minded people, you know, and celebrating everyone's wins, big or small.
[30:22] Like that draws us, that encourages us and that motivates us.
[30:27] Yeah.
[30:28] um love it when the podcast drop because again you know what's that couple's story yeah you know how is that relatable you know and we get snippets and we learn again we're like we're continuing to learn yeah and how have people in your life kind of taken this have you spoken a little bit more about it i know your friend said he didn't really talk much about it because
[30:51] He gets a lot of negativity.
[30:52] There is a lot of skeptics, a lot of tall poppy syndrome.
[30:56] Are you able to open up a little bit to your circle?
[31:00] We have.
[31:00] A close family knows all about it.
[31:03] We probably went in a bit too hard and tried to, you know, ram it down their throats.
[31:07] Because we were excited.
[31:09] So excited.
[31:10] But we've taken a step back now.
[31:11] If they want to ask any questions, we're happy to answer them, but we don't sort of push it anymore.
[31:16] We just do our own thing and it keeps us motivated.
[31:19] Yeah.
[31:20] I just can't wait for when we're mortgage free.
[31:23] Yeah.
[31:23] Like when they all pass jokes now at us about...
[31:26] So they are like joking and being a little bit of it.
[31:30] Plenty of banter, yeah.
[31:30] Yeah.
[31:31] They have a dig at us.
[31:32] Oh, for Christmas.
[31:33] We had everyone for Christmas at ours and we gave them all Infinity merch just to poke the bear a little bit more.
[31:41] So that was quite funny.
[31:43] But, yeah, we all have jokes about it.
[31:45] They all, you know, give us a bit of shit about, you know, joining Infinity and the cult and...
[31:49] They're like, oh, yeah, well, you know, ask me in two years when we're mortgage free.
[31:53] Like that I cannot wait for just to literally pop the shampers, pop the balloon, we're mortgage free.
[32:01] I think we've got to probably do it on a podcast then and you can announce it on a podcast and when it comes out, you'll be like, just watch this for me.
[32:08] Yeah.
[32:08] Yeah.
[32:09] I mean, isn't that what most people want to be mortgage free?
[32:12] Like I just didn't think it was achievable so quickly.
[32:17] Like pre-infinity, so when we did the rapid repay with what we had owing on our mortgage, we were just under nine years if we kept paying the way we were paying.
[32:26] Yeah.
[32:27] Then we joined Infinity with our $900 FFF.
[32:31] It was five years.
[32:34] And then now with our reduction, it was meant to be just under three, but we're pushing for under two.
[32:40] That's incredible.
[32:41] Yeah.
[32:42] And then you've got the property side of it.
[32:44] Yeah.
[32:44] That's before we've even considered.
[32:45] And that hasn't even come into it.
[32:47] We never even thought about property at all.
[32:49] Like when we were growing up, you're like, oh, you've got to rent it.
[32:52] You know, people damage the house and you've got to fix it.
[32:55] There's a lot of negative stuff around that.
[32:57] So we're like, well, you're not going to get anywhere.
[32:59] But we never thought about getting places and flipping them when they're worth money and going again, going again.
[33:05] Yeah.
[33:05] So that.
[33:06] Buy one to then buy, sell one to then buy two.
[33:09] Yeah.
[33:09] Yeah.
[33:10] Yeah.
[33:11] So that really excited us.
[33:12] Yeah.
[33:13] And you said, you did mention before that it's now driven you to keep working because you want to do more.
[33:18] How does that look now for your business and how you're now working in your business?
[33:25] Well, that probably motivates us even more.
[33:28] Like, you know, we're probably getting to the point where we're sort of taking a step back.
[33:32] We're like, oh, we're just working our asses off to, you know, pay the bills, pay the
[33:36] Not get above that next tax bracket.
[33:38] Yeah.
[33:39] And then you get to the tax man every year and he'd say, oh, look, your profit's really good this year.
[33:44] And we're like, well, where the fuck is it?
[33:45] It's not in our bank account or our, you know, it's just going back into the business or wherever it's going.
[33:49] So, like, now we're really pushing building the business.
[33:53] to fund this.
[33:55] And keep doing more.
[33:56] Yeah.
[33:56] And now retirement's off the card.
[33:58] So for the time being, I'll just keep going and going until I don't need to.
[34:02] It's such a common theme, right?
[34:03] There's so many people like, we just want to retire, pay the homeland off and stop work, you know, spend more time with the kids, which is fair enough.
[34:09] We get it.
[34:10] You know, we all work really hard in this country and we're in a country now where we need both people and the couple to work.
[34:16] Really.
[34:17] It's just not a lifestyle we can have where mum stays at home anymore.
[34:20] But then when people come and do this and they do become mortgage free, they're like, Oh no, let's just keep going.
[34:25] You need an income to do that, of course, but that's pushed you even further to just go, no, let's just keep going.
[34:30] Let's just keep going.
[34:32] So how many more properties do we want in the next couple of years?
[34:36] That we actually haven't really spoken of and, and worked out a number for us, you know,
[34:45] Where do you stop?
[34:47] Yeah.
[34:47] Well, it's always up to you.
[34:49] When you've got the capacity to do it and the serviceability, just why not?
[34:53] Yeah.
[34:53] And, I mean, we hear other people's journeys, you know, like, you know, couples that have, you know, 10 properties.
[35:00] You know, Kerry, like she's nearly up to 30, you know, and she didn't start Infinity, you know, that long ago, over 10 years.
[35:09] Like and look at how much growth she's achieved.
[35:11] Yeah.
[35:12] Just as an example, like literally the world is your oyster.
[35:15] Yeah.
[35:15] Yeah.
[35:15] We haven't put a number on it because, you know, for us, we want to pay off the mortgage and then let's, you know, let's now shift gears.
[35:23] Let's look into that.
[35:24] Where can we get to?
[35:26] What does it look like?
[35:26] What do we need to retire?
[35:28] You know, when do we want to retire?
[35:30] Because that comes into play too.
[35:32] Yeah.
[35:32] We are literally just, yeah, trying to go hard, pay off the mortgage, then it'll be pay off the first property, pay off the next property.
[35:40] Yeah.
[35:40] And do you guys feel like you're missing out on anything?
[35:42] No.
[35:42] Through this?
[35:43] Because now you're not as scared as the word budget anymore.
[35:46] No, definitely not.
[35:47] But you're not missing out?
[35:48] No, we're not.
[35:51] We still have, well me and Jay still have date night once a month maybe.
[35:54] Every couple of weeks we might have takeaway.
[35:57] But before we were probably having it two, three times a week.
[36:00] Yeah.
[36:01] Purely because we were so busy at work, we'd get back late and it was just quick and easy.
[36:05] But yeah.
[36:07] But even like the small changes, you know, like we would buy coffee like between us two or three times each week.
[36:14] You know, Adam would buy lunch most days, you know, cut back on, you know, drinking.
[36:21] Like, again, you finish work, you want to come home, have a beer.
[36:24] Yeah.
[36:25] Just all those changes.
[36:26] So, you know, we calculated on four coffees a week, we're saving $1,000 a month.
[36:33] On, you know, four lunches a week, we're saving over $4,000.
[36:36] And drinking, like the massive saving with drinking alcohol as well, like just in those small little changes, like it was over like $25,000.
[36:49] Hence when I talk about wasting money, like we're literally wasting money.
[36:53] Literally.
[36:54] Yep.
[36:55] Just on coffee, saving $1,000 a month is $12,000 a year.
[36:59] Some people aren't even doing that in principle a year.
[37:02] I mean, look, but all of that adds up, right?
[37:03] It has a compounding effect.
[37:05] If you can find $4,000 a year here, $1,000 a year, it's going to add up, right?
[37:10] So some people don't even do $5,000 principal a month, two months, three months, and then you've just found it, and then you've got to go straight on the mortgage now.
[37:18] Yeah.
[37:19] And all those little changes like we started implementing in January after the masterclass, so even before we actually officially joined Infinity.
[37:27] So all of those savings helped us.
[37:31] And people think it's hard, but you do it for a while.
[37:34] But you're doing it.
[37:34] You do it for a while and it's not that hard.
[37:36] Yeah.
[37:36] It becomes second nature.
[37:37] Yeah.
[37:38] It's just your mind shift.
[37:40] Like what's more important to you, having that convenient, you know, $5 coffee on the way to work or making one at home and knowing that $5 you're saving is going onto your mortgage.
[37:49] You know, you're reducing that interest.
[37:51] Yeah.
[37:51] Yeah.
[37:52] Yeah.
[37:53] For a long time, I made my husband buy the very cheap Coles brand coffee.
[37:56] And then now he's at a point where he's like, you know, I don't even want coffee anymore.
[37:58] Yeah.
[37:59] I don't even need it.
[38:00] No.
[38:00] Yeah.
[38:01] And that becomes the mindset thing where you stop, realize, you start to realize, sorry, that you just don't need the things you thought you did.
[38:07] Yeah, exactly.
[38:08] Yeah.
[38:08] Exactly.
[38:09] Exactly.
[38:10] Yeah, so I think the mindset shifts are a big one.
[38:13] I think that's something you guys have definitely experienced since coming aboard and definitely the kids because it sounds like the kids are almost running the household budget now, keeping you guys accountable.
[38:21] What does their future look like for you guys?
[38:24] You look like 20 years into their future.
[38:27] Well, hopefully they're financially stable, hopefully a lot more than what we were at that age.
[38:34] Yep.
[38:36] But I suppose just to have that knowledge that we've been given to pass it on to them so they can implement things to make their life a lot easier.
[38:44] Yeah.
[38:45] I mean, they sound like they're very much on board, but what do you want them to know that maybe you haven't told them?
[38:52] a, well, a budget, but, but showing them and guiding them with what a real budget actually looks like and that you can still live within your means.
[39:02] You know, you, you just need to realize what's a need, what's a want, what's important.
[39:09] And, and do you actually need to go out, you know, every weekend, you know, it, it is so expensive now to go out.
[39:15] Like, do you need that?
[39:17] Like that should be a treat or a reward.
[39:20] Um, so, so little changes like that, I think will be good.
[39:24] And for them to be able to save their money, to then be able to achieve bigger financial goals for themselves.
[39:31] You know, if that is to buy a car, you know, to hopefully buy a property, you know, a home for them to then implement those same strategies that, that we're learning.
[39:42] Because a lot of kids growing up probably don't have the motivation to do that.
[39:45] Yeah.
[39:45] So hopefully they're looking at us implementing these things.
[39:48] But both of my kids have watched the Oscar Jerry podcast.
[39:52] Oh, good.
[39:53] So like what more motivation do you want from that?
[39:56] You know, I mean, he was a young kid, so.
[39:58] Yeah.
[39:59] And he's just put a deposit down on his first property.
[40:01] Yeah.
[40:01] So it's absolutely possible if you set your mind to it.
[40:05] And you probably want your kids working two jobs as opposed to, you know, running around at clubs and things like that.
[40:11] So.
[40:11] I think, you know, you guys instilling that in them is really powerful.
[40:15] Yeah.
[40:16] And he also shows, Oscar shows balance, you know.
[40:19] Yeah.
[40:19] He works hard but he still is enjoying life.
[40:23] Yeah.
[40:23] You know, and that is such a credit to him and his family for joining the Infinity Journey.
[40:29] And, I mean, you can only –
[40:31] see how far his siblings will go.
[40:37] Like, you know, look at what they're instilling again.
[40:40] Look at their role model.
[40:41] Yes.
[40:43] Yeah.
[40:43] It is.
[40:44] That's very inspiring.
[40:45] Yeah.
[40:46] Very uplifting.
[40:47] Yeah.
[40:48] Which is why the podcasts are so important to share those stories.
[40:51] Nobody tells the infinity story better than our clients.
[40:54] Yeah.
[40:55] And now you guys are on a podcast.
[40:56] Did you believe you'd ever be on a podcast?
[40:58] No.
[40:59] No, not at all.
[41:00] No.
[41:00] No.
[41:01] No, not at all.
[41:02] Well, the achievements are definitely there.
[41:04] Yeah.
[41:05] So you should be very, very proud of yourselves.
[41:07] What would you say to somebody who's maybe sitting and watching your podcast in the future or watching a webinar and just umming and ahhing about whether or not they should jump on board?
[41:16] What would you tell them?
[41:18] Oh, just make the step.
[41:19] But I'd probably just sit down and work out those coffees a day, those lunches a day.
[41:26] The takeaway.
[41:27] Write it on a bit of paper and see it, physically see it, and then you'll look at it and go, what the fuck?
[41:32] Like it makes you feel sick in the guts.
[41:33] Like simple things like that.
[41:35] Like just make the plunge and, you know, you can be like us.
[41:39] Look where we are, three properties.
[41:40] Yeah.
[41:41] Yeah.
[41:42] And a lot more to come, I would say.
[41:44] That's actually a really good advice.
[41:45] It's like, just start with something small.
[41:47] If you feel overwhelmed by the whole bigger picture, start small, calculate those little things.
[41:52] And then when you look at all of that at a lump sum, then you can start to visualize, well, what can that money do for me?
[41:57] Does that mean a deposit on a property in my first year with infinity?
[42:00] It's actually really, really good advice.
[42:02] But it's also good advice for people that are like, oh, it's a skeptic, you know, I'm so skeptic about it, you know, that's not true.
[42:10] Do the math yourself.
[42:11] Yeah.
[42:11] No one else is putting that in front of you.
[42:13] You can see it.
[42:14] It actually works.
[42:15] You know, then listen to the webinar.
[42:18] As everyone says, it is free.
[42:20] It's free information.
[42:21] It's education.
[42:22] You know, then if you want to make that step, yep, do the masterclass.
[42:26] We learned so much from that masterclass.
[42:29] Like it was honestly incredible.
[42:31] And if you choose not to take the next step, that's fine.
[42:34] You will gain so much benefit from that masterclass.
[42:38] And then if you do take the step, I mean, you're the only one that can benefit.
[42:42] You really are.
[42:43] Like you're the one losing.
[42:45] Yeah.
[42:45] That's good advice.
[42:46] Because we have that money back guarantee.
[42:48] So there is no risk to you.
[42:49] Exactly.
[42:50] Yeah.
[42:50] It's a weekend full of education.
[42:53] Yeah.
[42:53] It really is.
[42:54] And everyone gets to run their own numbers.
[42:55] We don't gatekeep our calculator.
[42:57] Everybody gets access to the calculator.
[42:59] So even if you don't work with us, you can keep using our calculator moving forward because we give you the link.
[43:04] Yeah.
[43:05] Yeah.
[43:05] And it's not overwhelming or daunting because you've got the team behind you.
[43:10] They keep you motivated, you're accountable for things you do.
[43:15] You don't have to do anything.
[43:16] You've just got to stay on track and keep chipping away.
[43:19] Yeah, you just follow the plan.
[43:20] We'll do the heavy lifting, you follow the plan.
[43:22] The infinity...
[43:24] I call it a village.
[43:25] The Infinity team is like a village.
[43:27] Everyone is just phenomenal.
[43:29] And you know what?
[43:30] They are all there for the same reason.
[43:32] They're there to help you.
[43:33] Yeah.
[43:33] They're there to help you and your family.
[43:36] And we all want the same goal.
[43:39] It is honestly a phenomenal team.
[43:41] Like we are very grateful for having the support that we have behind us.
[43:45] And everyone plays such an integral role, like not even just our RMs and our wealth strategists, like all the team behind the scenes.
[43:53] Yeah.
[43:53] To make your experience, however big or small it is, so unique to you and your journey.
[44:00] Yeah.
[44:01] A lot of people don't realize how big the team is and how many people are kind of just kicking underwater to make your strategy come to life.
[44:08] Yeah.
[44:08] Because you'll see your wealth strategist, your finance strategist and your relationship manager who's...
[44:12] But there is a whole team of people even supporting them to support you.
[44:16] Yeah.
[44:16] Yeah.
[44:17] Which I just think is the coolest thing because it means we can just do more for you guys.
[44:21] Yeah.
[44:22] Yeah.
[44:22] But you can see the team is genuine.
[44:24] Yeah.
[44:25] And everyone is there to help.
[44:27] Like everyone.
[44:28] Like there's such a big team, like well behind the scenes that we don't even see.
[44:33] Yeah.
[44:33] Yeah.
[44:34] But they're kicking along there for you guys.
[44:36] So whenever you're ready to look at your strategy again, and I think we do that soon.
[44:40] Yeah.
[44:41] I think you can do the next 160,000 in less than two years.
[44:46] I know.
[44:47] You've already done half in eight months.
[44:49] Our RM, he pushes us and, yeah, he's really, he really encourages us.
[44:55] Honestly, he sets us a goal and we're like, wow.
[44:59] You guys thrive on that, don't you?
[45:01] Yeah, we do.
[45:01] You're big on the competition.
[45:03] Yeah.
[45:03] Which I think is really cool that they get to know you enough to know this is what makes them tick and I'm going to do it and I'm going to make them stick to it.
[45:10] Yeah.
[45:11] Alex is great and I think he's worked it out.
[45:14] I put my foot in on the Facebook page when G put up, you know, what's everyone's goals, how long is it going to take you?
[45:20] Yeah.
[45:20] I think it was the first comment because I spotted it and I put one to two years but pushing for one.
[45:27] And I think Alex texted me the next day and said, what's this?
[45:31] Yeah.
[45:31] Not good enough.
[45:32] I think you can do it.
[45:34] I think you can do it.
[45:35] You've done half in eight months.
[45:37] What's to say you can't do the other half in another eight months?
[45:40] You're the ones that know what you need to do.
[45:42] We'll just keep pushing you.
[45:43] Yeah, I know.
[45:44] So I think in probably about eight to 12 months, we will be doing another strategy review, another podcast, and you'll be sharing that you're debt-free on that podcast to show your family.
[45:54] Yeah, I just can't wait.
[45:55] Honestly, I cannot wait for that feeling.
[45:58] It's coming.
[45:59] And to know that we have paid – so we paid off $300,000 in 13 years and we're going to pay off $350,000 in three.
[46:09] That's technically – like those numbers are just phenomenal.
[46:14] And to think –
[46:15] how much money we've wasted over 13 years on $300,000 to now be $350,000 under three.
[46:23] World's biggest scam.
[46:25] Best scam.
[46:26] Oh, I know.
[46:27] I know.
[46:27] Got to be such a great scam if you can do that.
[46:29] And we're not living like hobos.
[46:31] Yeah.
[46:31] You know, like.
[46:33] We've still got nice clothes and a roof over our head and we've got a holiday plan.
[46:37] The end of the year, like, you can still do those things.
[46:40] Yeah.
[46:41] So have experience has become a bigger thing for you guys as opposed to the designer bags and the shopping?
[46:47] Look, we've always been big on creating memories.
[46:50] We've lost three out of four of our parents and so that became very important to us.
[46:54] Yeah.
[46:55] Yeah.
[46:55] Very early on.
[46:57] Hence also we work hard, we'll spend it because we've worked hard, you know.
[47:02] We don't know if tomorrow is guaranteed.
[47:05] But now just that mind shift of we work hard and we're going
[47:11] We'll still treat ourselves, you know, we've got a nice overseas holiday planned at the end of the year with the family.
[47:17] I think that's important to do.
[47:19] Definitely.
[47:19] We're still creating those memories.
[47:21] Definitely need a balance.
[47:22] The small things in the interim, do you actually need that?
[47:24] No, we don't need that.
[47:26] Let's put that extra money to the mortgage.
[47:28] Yeah.
[47:28] If I can sacrifice on those little things that I don't need, but it gets me a nice holiday.
[47:34] Yeah.
[47:34] I'll absolutely do it.
[47:36] And I'm still paying off debt.
[47:37] Yeah.
[47:38] Do you guys have any questions for me?
[47:39] Yeah.
[47:40] We actually do have a few.
[47:41] I came prepared.
[47:42] Yeah.
[47:44] So other than the obvious of helping your clients, you know, seeing them become, you know, mortgage-free, creating wealth, that type of thing.
[47:53] You've had a few different roles at Infinity now.
[47:55] Yeah.
[47:57] What is your most favourite role?
[47:59] Oh.
[47:59] And why?
[48:00] Why?
[48:01] Oh, that's so hard.
[48:02] Yeah.
[48:03] You've had a few.
[48:04] Oh, because they're so different in what you do.
[48:06] Because I started in the business as a relationship manager.
[48:08] So it was because I didn't come from finance at all.
[48:11] I came from events management, which is very, very personable, building relationships, that kind of thing.
[48:16] And Becca and Gee just went, they saw something in me as they were working with me as a client and they just went, you're a bit of a freak too, aren't you?
[48:23] I was like, I guess if that's a good thing.
[48:24] And they're like, no, it is.
[48:25] You need to come work for us.
[48:27] And so I started in the business as a relationship manager.
[48:29] And I loved that because I love just learning about the budgets and the mindset and what makes people tick and getting to know you and your kids and all of that.
[48:37] But then I said to G, I was like, one day I'm going to be uni.
[48:40] He's like, all right, settle down.
[48:41] Like, you know, I was like, but whatever path that looks like put me on it.
[48:45] And so we did.
[48:46] So eventually I could move into a finance strategist support role.
[48:50] And then so I support the finance strategist.
[48:51] Then I got into the finance strategy role.
[48:53] And I think that's where I really shined because I then got to break apart your shit, unfuck it, and then piece it together and make a strategy.
[49:02] And there's such a huge fulfillment in that when you get to like completely wipe the slate clean and then build a strategy and walk you through it, walk the path with you.
[49:13] So I loved that side of it.
[49:15] I still don't know if that's my favorite though because I'm also really enjoying these as well.
[49:19] And your masterclasses.
[49:21] And your podcast.
[49:22] Yeah.
[49:23] Oh, that's so hard.
[49:24] I don't know.
[49:24] I can't answer it.
[49:26] Too hard.
[49:27] Too hard.
[49:28] Yeah.
[49:28] Is there another part of the business that you haven't quite dipped into yet?
[49:31] Yeah.
[49:32] Did you like, oh, maybe I could give that again?
[49:34] Well, events, but that's just because been there.
[49:37] I'm not going to go back.
[49:38] But, yeah, our events team are incredible, but I don't think I'd ever go back.
[49:42] I've really found a niche of something I never thought I would be good at.
[49:47] Like when I was at school, I hated maths.
[49:49] I hated it.
[49:50] The teachers don't, I don't like how they teach at school.
[49:53] They force every kid to learn in the exact same way.
[49:57] And I don't think that works for kids.
[49:59] You said you're a visual person.
[50:00] I'm hugely a visual person as well.
[50:03] So, yeah, just, yeah.
[50:07] Wait and see.
[50:08] Yeah.
[50:09] Watch this space.
[50:11] Yeah, I don't, yeah.
[50:12] I can't pick a favourite.
[50:13] It's too hard.
[50:14] But, yeah, I don't think I'd go back to the events team.
[50:16] But love our events team though.
[50:19] They do a phenomenal job.
[50:20] They really do.
[50:20] The events are just incredible.
[50:21] The community events they put on, oh, my gosh, they're amazing.
[50:25] They think of everything.
[50:26] And then our real estate masteries, every time I go to those, I think how can you top this next time and then they do it.
[50:31] I'm like, how?
[50:33] Like it's incredible.
[50:34] It's amazing.
[50:35] Yeah.
[50:38] I've got a little bit of a quick one.
[50:39] Oh, hang on.
[50:39] I've got one more just before yours.
[50:42] So congratulations, two years in a row, Mortgage Broker of the Year.
[50:47] Thank you.
[50:48] Obviously, Jay's had the three before you.
[50:51] So are you going to beat him?
[50:54] Oh, unfortunately, no, because I fully stepped away from taking on clients one-on-one as a finance strategist now.
[51:00] So they can't, there's no reviews they can leave me because I'm not actually doing the transactions anymore.
[51:04] Oh, no.
[51:05] Yeah.
[51:06] So I really was like, oh, no, I want to do more than you.
[51:08] But I was like, then I'd be, I wouldn't be able to step into this role.
[51:11] So I was like, I kind of had to make that sacrifice.
[51:14] So he'll hold the title.
[51:15] Yeah.
[51:16] Well, we're hoping somebody else in Infinity will.
[51:18] So I'm working really hard to make sure that our team still holds it.
[51:23] Yes.
[51:23] Yeah.
[51:24] But beat G's three years in a row.
[51:27] Not Ty.
[51:28] So you had two.
[51:29] Yeah.
[51:29] So not Ty.
[51:30] So he'll still have more.
[51:32] Yeah.
[51:33] So he'll still have that on me.
[51:34] He'll be fine for years.
[51:37] Yeah.
[51:37] Good.
[51:38] All right, last one.
[51:39] So I've got a little quick one.
[51:40] I want an answer off G as well for this one.
[51:42] Okay.
[51:43] He's the one that says it.
[51:44] But he's said it a few times now when he relates to the FFF about eating two-minute noodles five different ways.
[51:52] Yeah.
[51:53] I want to know from you and from G those five different ways.
[51:57] Oh, God.
[51:58] Well, you can have it on toast.
[52:00] So there's your breakfast.
[52:02] You just have it as normal like a soup for lunch.
[52:05] You have it on the side with maybe some eggs for dinner.
[52:09] Oh, God, how else can you do it?
[52:11] Throw it into a soup, I guess.
[52:14] Use it as stuffing for your chicken.
[52:17] That's a good one.
[52:18] Yeah.
[52:18] It's actually easy.
[52:20] Let's see if, gee, you can come up with five different ways.
[52:21] If you want to make it more exciting, get some spam.
[52:24] Yeah.
[52:25] Geez, we are tipping into the budget.
[52:27] The budget's not that low.
[52:30] I already have probably got better answers than I do.
[52:32] But, yeah, that's a good question.
[52:34] I like that.
[52:35] Amazing, guys.
[52:36] Well, thank you so much for joining us on a podcast.
