In this episode of The Money Mentor Podcast, we sit down with Alix & Luke and their Relationship Manager, Nick, to unpack one of the most dramatic financial turnarounds yet, a story of commitment, clarity, and complete transformation. Alix & Luke first discovered Infinity after watching the free webinar, which quickly led them to the Masterclass. What they heard made sense and for the first time, they realised that the strategy they had been using (Barefoot Investor style, paying weekly into multiple accounts) wasn’t actually moving them forward. Before Infinity, they were: Carrying 3 mortgages, paying principal + interest on all, owing $530k total, following a strategy that looked “safe” but wasn’t building wealth, putting weekly money into separate kids' accounts but not growing their own, and managing finances across multiple accounts without clear direction. After joining Infinity in July 2024, everything changed — fast. Within 8 months, they transformed their entire financial position: Paid out all 3 mortgages, $0 balance by Feb 2025, purchased 4 investment properties (2 in SMSF + 2 more through equity), discovered $100k sitting across forgotten accounts, got married AND took their entire family on their first overseas holiday, established an FFF of $695 weekly, withdrew $560k equity and used it strategically, paid off $40k of their new loan in only 4 months. Alix & Luke’s story shows that when you stop guessing and follow a proven strategy, financial freedom can happen much faster than you think. 👉 Watch the free webinar to start your own journey: https://bit.ly/43V2jKN

## Transcript

[0:00] So we basically sat down, worked out we had 100k, sold our old house and paid out all our loans.
[0:07] Yeah, mortgage is gone.
[0:09] Paid it out.
[0:10] How good.
[0:11] So literally cancelled it out, took a screenshot of my app to be like, oh my god, the debt is gone.
[0:16] How'd that feel?
[0:16] So basically in 12 months, we're not...
[0:18] Eight months.
[0:19] Paid off our...
[0:22] Owned Rock debts.
[0:23] Yeah.
[0:25] And started a self-managed super fund.
[0:27] Yeah.
[0:27] Bought an investment property with that and have since purchased three more investment properties.
[0:32] Money is the root of all evil.
[0:33] The fucking lack of it is.
[0:34] Not money.
[0:35] The lack of understanding money.
[0:37] When I put that into emphasis, when I realized that psychological effect and how it hit our family, I FDB in the fucking way.
[0:43] You are now watching the Money Man Talk podcast with Graham Hines.
[0:47] Graham Hines.
[0:48] Graham Hines.
[0:48] Graham Hines.
[0:49] Graham Hines.
[0:52] and gone.
[0:53] See ya.
[0:54] Doing good?
[0:54] So good.
[0:55] Thanks for coming in.
[0:56] These are my bloody awesome clients.
[0:58] I just want to have a bit of a chat with you guys today.
[1:00] I just want to, you know, run over, you know, how your journey's been at Infinity, how everything's been, sort of, just give us a bit of a rundown.
[1:07] So just tell me, how did you guys find Infinity?
[1:10] Like, what sort of enticed you guys to sign up originally?
[1:12] So Alex was the one that found you guys basically.
[1:16] Yeah.
[1:17] You put a post on social media originally asking for a bit of financial help.
[1:22] So I originally put up a status years ago and I knew we had obviously our old house, had our new house, had three mortgages, paying principal and interest.
[1:31] I knew we could do things, but I just needed some help.
[1:34] Anyways, long story short, there was no one could really tell me who to go to.
[1:37] I just wanted someone to like tell me directly, do this, that's not how it works.
[1:42] So, yeah, we came across friends of ours that we know in our small rural town.
[1:48] And they basically said, oh, yeah, I noticed they'd been buying and selling a bit.
[1:52] And I'm like, how are they doing it?
[1:53] What are you doing?
[1:54] Yeah, what are you doing?
[1:55] What are you doing?
[1:55] You're only young.
[1:56] Like, what do you mean buying and selling houses?
[1:58] They're in their early 20s.
[2:00] So I actually asked her, I was like, so who are you with?
[2:03] And she said, oh, she was.
[2:05] pretty quiet about it.
[2:06] She didn't say much at all.
[2:08] She was like, Oh, I'm just with, I'm with infinity.
[2:10] That was it.
[2:11] A few months went by.
[2:12] I reached out to her, sent her a message and I said, so who, what's that guy's name again?
[2:17] She said, Oh, great.
[2:18] Look into it.
[2:19] And that was it.
[2:19] She just left it at that.
[2:20] So I did.
[2:21] So I looked into it, did a bit of Googling, worked out.
[2:24] Oh yeah.
[2:25] Okay.
[2:25] So I didn't really understand the concept of it.
[2:29] Didn't understand how big it was or how
[2:31] amazing it would be.
[2:32] Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[2:33] But so I'd signed up, got a notepad and a pen and literally sat on the lounge, the both of us on a Tuesday night and did the webinar.
[2:40] Yeah, true.
[2:42] And that's where it stemmed from.
[2:43] Just like that.
[2:44] Yeah.
[2:44] And how has your life changed since coming on deck?
[2:47] Like –
[2:48] We made to think we sat down the two-day masterclass and said, I wonder where we could be in 12 months.
[2:58] Like, I wonder what could actually – We did it.
[3:01] What could happen?
[3:03] So basically when I sat down and watched the webinar, I had a notepad and I can't even remember exactly what he was discussing and I just looked at Luke and I was like,
[3:11] I get it.
[3:11] I fucking get it.
[3:13] And he was like, you get what?
[3:14] And I'm like, I understand it.
[3:16] I didn't get it.
[3:17] Oh, my God.
[3:17] By this point, he was like, I don't know what we're getting.
[3:20] Yeah, yeah, that looks good.
[3:21] And I was like, I get it.
[3:23] We need to sign up at that time.
[3:25] We obviously had a few mortgages, had three kids.
[3:28] And I remember looking at him and being like,
[3:31] We need to sign up.
[3:32] We need to do the masterclass.
[3:33] Let's see what it's about because, wow, this two hours has blown my mind.
[3:36] I'd scribbled notes.
[3:38] You know, we'll pay in principal an interest on our three loans.
[3:41] Yeah.
[3:41] So, yeah, basically a month later, signed up, did the masterclass, cooked our brains, and we did not hesitate to sign up.
[3:48] Yeah.
[3:48] To try and apply.
[3:49] We're like, we don't even know if we'll be eligible.
[3:51] Yeah.
[3:52] And tell me, tell everyone, like, where are you guys now?
[3:54] So, like, obviously, you know, you came in, you had an owner-oct debt, you had –
[3:58] one investment property, where are you guys sitting right now?
[4:00] So, I had two or three mortgages, I suppose you'd say.
[4:05] Our old house, our new home and our equity loan.
[4:12] Paying principal and interest on all three.
[4:14] Paying your minimum repayments.
[4:15] We had locked our- Doing what everyone tells you to do.
[4:18] Losing sleep over the interest rate rises, like literally losing sleep to the point that I locked our current home into 12 months.
[4:26] locked in our loan.
[4:28] I know it sounds crazy to even talk about it now, but we were frightened of the interest rates.
[4:32] We were getting a letter from St. George nearly every week.
[4:36] It felt like.
[4:37] It felt like it.
[4:38] I think it was monthly.
[4:38] And it was like, what the fuck are we going to do?
[4:41] Like, what are we going to do?
[4:42] This is, we're going to have to sell.
[4:44] Yeah, like, are we going to be able to afford, and we were only paying the bare minimum.
[4:47] Yeah.
[4:48] So we had done barefoot, so yeah, we had buckets.
[4:51] Same.
[4:52] Yep.
[4:52] Yeah.
[4:53] Which was good.
[4:53] Look, as I said to G, I don't regret that.
[4:56] That definitely got us talking about.
[4:59] Yeah.
[4:59] We were money savvy.
[5:00] We were talking about money.
[5:01] We were never fighting about money.
[5:03] Yeah.
[5:03] It wasn't you pay for this.
[5:04] I pay for this.
[5:05] It was 60% of both our wages.
[5:06] So it definitely got us on the right path.
[5:09] but we had these hard savers and we didn't actually know what we were saving for.
[5:12] Yeah, true.
[5:13] Because we already had – Most of an end goal.
[5:16] Yeah, we didn't have an end goal.
[5:17] I had an end goal.
[5:18] My end goal, I wanted to save $50,000.
[5:20] I wanted to save 50K in my bank account.
[5:23] It was virtually there.
[5:24] Yeah.
[5:25] But then it was like, what are you saving for?
[5:29] And I was like, I don't know.
[5:32] It was a separate different bank.
[5:34] It wasn't linked to any of our mortgages.
[5:38] So basically we sat down.
[5:41] Yeah, we sat down, worked out that we had over 100 grand between us.
[5:44] Yeah.
[5:45] And I was like, oh, my God, we actually have 100 grand.
[5:47] Looked in the kids' bank accounts because we were debiting money into another bank account in a separate bank for the kids.
[5:51] Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[5:52] Thinking we were doing the right thing, saving for them.
[5:54] Yeah.
[5:55] So we basically, yeah, sat down, worked out we had 100K, sold our old house.
[6:00] Yeah.
[6:01] And paid out.
[6:02] All our loans.
[6:03] Yeah.
[6:03] Sick.
[6:04] Mortgage is gone.
[6:05] Paid it out.
[6:05] Yeah.
[6:06] How good.
[6:06] So literally canceled it out, took a screenshot of my app to be like, oh my God, the debt is gone.
[6:11] How'd that feel?
[6:12] So basically in 12 months, but not- Eight months.
[6:15] Paid off our-
[6:18] Owner-oct debts.
[6:19] Yeah.
[6:20] And started a self-managed super fund.
[6:22] Yeah.
[6:23] Bought an investment property with that and have since purchased three more investment properties.
[6:27] So how many investment properties do you have now?
[6:29] Four in total.
[6:29] Wow.
[6:30] Yeah.
[6:31] Four investment properties, no owner-oct debt.
[6:34] Yeah.
[6:34] Wild.
[6:34] Wild.
[6:34] In one year.
[6:36] It's sick.
[6:36] It was technically eight months.
[6:37] Yeah, that's wild.
[6:38] It's blown me away.
[6:39] I actually got emotional about it before.
[6:42] I'm a little bit better at the moment.
[6:45] To let it sink in like that and to think what's happened is just mind-blowing.
[6:51] Yeah.
[6:52] If you follow, trust the process, follow the method to his madness.
[6:56] It actually works.
[6:58] It's not a cult.
[6:59] We are examples.
[7:00] Everyone here.
[7:00] It's not a scam.
[7:01] Yeah, everyone here in this family and community can, you know, we're all on different pages, different paths, but we're all doing the same thing.
[7:10] We're all striving for a goal.
[7:12] We're all striving for the same outcome, which is to better yourself for retirement, better your kids' lives.
[7:19] So I remember G saying in that first masterclass, well, the only masterclass we've had to do, but saying, you know, you're going to need to get uncomfortable.
[7:26] You have to get uncomfortable for three to five years to make a difference.
[7:31] And then I promise I can set you up.
[7:33] We can do big things.
[7:34] So I knew it was going to probably be.
[7:37] Not so much uncomfortable.
[7:38] Yeah, I wouldn't say uncomfortable.
[7:39] I'd just say getting used to a new structure in life.
[7:42] Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[7:43] It's not really.
[7:45] It's not uncomfortable.
[7:45] We don't go without at all.
[7:47] Nah, it's just structuring everything, right?
[7:49] Yeah.
[7:49] We live within our means and we think through like, righto, do we need to go and do that?
[7:54] Yeah.
[7:54] Do we need to eat that?
[7:55] Do we need to go out and spend $100 four times a week?
[7:58] No, you can just.
[7:59] On that.
[8:00] Yeah.
[8:00] How is it having, you know, a relationship manager breathing over your, you know, watching over your shoulder all the time?
[8:05] It's tough, mate.
[8:09] How does that help you to stay accountable?
[8:11] It definitely does.
[8:12] Like our account, I'm very wary of it.
[8:16] I look at it.
[8:17] There's not many days that go by that I don't look at it.
[8:19] Grab fuel.
[8:20] Oh, yeah, got X amount of dollars left.
[8:22] At the end of the week, we generally have drained it.
[8:24] Last week when you were away, we seemed to be very rich.
[8:27] So we seemed to be... What do you need?
[8:30] What's going on there?
[8:31] Yeah.
[8:31] I was like, you're clearly draining our accounts.
[8:34] No.
[8:34] So I'm very aware of it.
[8:36] But knowing that it is accounted, you can see it.
[8:40] I don't do anything different.
[8:41] I don't think you're going to sit there and look and say, oh, no, she spent $400.
[8:44] It came out or something like that.
[8:46] That doesn't matter.
[8:47] But knowing that you're accountable for it and you've got someone that you can talk to about it and someone that can be like, hey, I can actually help.
[8:55] Like a support network.
[8:56] The support.
[8:57] Yeah.
[8:58] Having someone, yeah, that knows.
[9:00] You know, that you can call like anytime sort of thing.
[9:02] Literally can flick you a text late at night and be like, help.
[9:05] Like, yeah, it's unreal.
[9:07] I can't explain.
[9:09] Yeah, and what do we need to do here?
[9:10] And you can direct us and say you need to speak with.
[9:12] Yeah.
[9:13] Or what can we do next?
[9:14] You guys make my job very bloody easy.
[9:17] You guys are just getting killed.
[9:19] I'm sure there's some people that don't.
[9:20] Oh, 100%.
[9:21] It's pretty straightforward.
[9:22] Yeah.
[9:23] But again, you just got to live within your means.
[9:24] Yeah.
[9:25] Follow the process.
[9:26] And if you're not willing to get uncomfortable, then you obviously don't want it.
[9:29] 100%.
[9:30] Yeah.
[9:31] So you do your boot.
[9:31] 100%.
[9:32] Don't be sad when everyone else is doing better than you.
[9:35] Yeah.
[9:35] Straight up.
[9:36] Preaching.
[9:36] You're wanting to chuck it through the pokies and eat takeout and just...
[9:40] All that is is just a shit attitude, I reckon, for people that don't want to take responsibility for their finances.
[9:45] Absolutely.
[9:46] Yep.
[9:47] 100%.
[9:48] You're fucking gone.
[9:49] See ya.
