In this episode of "The Money Mentor," Rachel sits down with Ebony, who faced one of life's hardest resets when her marriage ended and she became a single mother with an eight-month-old and a toddler. She chose to rebuild, but the road was far from straightforward. Back at work early, she purchased her first home in 2018, a rundown property that needed work before she could move her children in. Building on her success she wanted to think bigger, but as a single mother with dependants she hit walls at every turn. When the banks wrote her off she went searching for another way, and found Infinity. In just twelve months, Ebony has gone from being told property investing wasn't possible to having an SMSF property investment and a dual occupancy build underway. With Infinity's guidance her home loan has been slashed from $259,000 to $79,000 and is on track to be completely cleared within the next 12 months. When others said it couldn't be done, Infinity helped her prove them wrong. Sit back and listen to Ebony describe the year that has changed the trajectory of her family's future. [0:00] Wow, you are just crushing it.
[0:02] And I just love, you're so happy.
[0:04] You just seem genuinely so enthralled with everything that you've done so far, which it just comes out.
[0:11] Just think, man, like, I know how bad my mental health was when I was, you know, yeah, a number of years back, right?
[0:20] And...
[0:21] I kind of think, you know, I felt like I had a lot of loss in the sense of loss, the loss of dreams and that kind of like, well, how, yeah, like this is not how I kind of genuinely thought things would be.
[0:36] And so I still have found it a little tricky to kind of go, anything's possible now.
[0:43] But certainly in such a short period of time, I'm like, fuck,
[0:45] far out anything is possible like actual some huge mindset shifts yeah and and like okay so maybe i can actually dream again money is the root of all evil the fucking lack of it is not money the lack of understanding money when i put that into emphasis when i realize that psychological effect and how it hit our family i have to be in the fucking way
[1:13] Ebony's marriage ended when her youngest was just eight months old.
[1:17] She went back to work early, held it together for two small kids, and made a decision she was going to blow up the life she had and build the one she actually wanted.
[1:27] Two years after the divorce, she bought her own home.
[1:31] It was a rundown old rental, but it was hers.
[1:34] When she wanted more for her family, every door closed.
[1:38] The banks had nothing to offer.
[1:41] Brokers told her that as a single mum with dependents, her serviceability was too low to invest in property.
[1:48] Infinity gave her what no one else had.
[1:51] A plan that worked around her circumstances, not against them.
[1:56] Her shares sold.
[1:58] The home refinanced.
[2:00] I'm down in just over a year to like 78K left on my mortgage.
[2:04] The loan slashed from 259,000 to 79,000.
[2:10] Like I look at my mortgage now and I think it's almost like what some people put as a car loan, right?
[2:14] So nuts, right?
[2:16] A dual occupancy build underway, all while raising two kids on her own.
[2:21] A single mum, without a partner, without permission.
[2:25] This is Ebony's story, and she built every bit of it herself.
[2:32] Welcome back to the Money Mentor Podcast where we have another episode of changing lives financially.
[2:37] Today we have the beautiful Ebony.
[2:40] How are you, Ebony?
[2:41] Yeah, good.
[2:41] Thanks, Rach.
[2:42] How are you feeling about being here?
[2:43] I'm terrified.
[2:44] Oh, you don't look it.
[2:46] I'm sure I'll be fine once you get me talking, but I'm feeling a little nervous.
[2:50] Yeah.
[2:50] No, you look absolutely fine and you're going to be totally fine.
[2:53] Great.
[2:53] Thank you.
[2:54] Look, let's start you off with telling us all about your journey before infinity.
[2:58] Before infinity.
[2:59] Yeah.
[2:59] So before you met us, what was life like?
[3:01] What were you doing?
[3:02] Okay.
[3:02] Finances, everything.
[3:03] All right.
[3:04] Okay.
[3:04] All the fun stuff.
[3:06] Yeah.
[3:07] Okay.
[3:07] So I guess...
[3:10] Currently, I'm a single mum with two little people, so nine and 11.
[3:15] But it's been a journey prior to that.
[3:20] So I was married and I left when my little man was eight months old.
[3:26] There are lots of things happening there.
[3:29] But certainly that's probably one thing that really triggered my financial journey is just a sense of or a lack of financial security.
[3:36] I felt like at that time with a lot of things that were kind of going on.
[3:41] Um, so, you know, I had to like return from mat leave.
[3:45] You had lots of arguments around money.
[3:46] Yeah, lots, lots of stuff around money, um, you know, to, to the degree you think we're on the same page and, you know, there'd be a cut up of a credit card in front of me to go, yeah, it's all good.
[3:55] And then we'd take my cards out of my wallet and go, you know, spend stuff.
[3:58] So it kind of, it just felt really overwhelming, um, for me and, um, I felt really vulnerable, um, and didn't feel like.
[4:08] Um.
[4:09] I don't know.
[4:10] I just didn't feel like there was any hope in that.
[4:12] There was a lot of other things kind of going on with that as well.
[4:15] Cause you were always like starting again all over.
[4:16] Yeah, literally.
[4:17] And I'm kind of like, man, this is, I mean, it's not, not where I expected I'd be.
[4:22] Like, it's kind of a bit of a weird journey.
[4:23] It's not, it's not where I didn't expect to be raising my kids by myself.
[4:27] I didn't expect, and I didn't want any of that.
[4:29] Right.
[4:29] Like, that's not kind of how I thought.
[4:31] my life would go.
[4:32] But, you know, I feel like I've wanted to then play catch up to try and get myself back into a better position.
[4:41] So we had to build a beautiful home.
[4:44] And even prior to that, with another partner before that, I'd build a home.
[4:47] So I kind of felt like I'm like, man, how am I like going with... You're like, you've just gone through a cycle.
[4:50] Yeah, like I'm just like, I can't keep doing this.
[4:52] Like I need to land on my own two feet and kind of find a way forward.
[4:56] So I didn't really feel like I left, like we sold that property when we separated.
[5:03] But I didn't really feel like I had maybe, I don't know, what did I get out of that?
[5:07] Maybe like 20, 30K kind of thing.
[5:08] I wasn't anything significant.
[5:09] Next to nothing really.
[5:11] Really, like, you know.
[5:12] Again, pre-COVID time.
[5:13] So granted, like, you know, that was, that was okay, but it was really just trying to work, find my feet and kind of work out what the heck am I going to do now?
[5:22] You know, I've got to raise two beautiful little people.
[5:25] You know, I want to put them through private schools, what I wanted to do.
[5:29] You know, I don't have much to my name now.
[5:31] I do need to play catch up.
[5:33] I need to get ahead.
[5:33] So what does that kind of look like?
[5:35] So yeah.
[5:36] I went on a bit of a journey.
[5:37] I was really lucky at that time that I was working with an organisation I'd been with for a long time so they knew me and were able to give me a bit of flexibility which I was very grateful for.
[5:47] I was a good saver but I just didn't really know kind of beyond what
[5:53] What to do.
[5:53] Yeah, I had no idea, right?
[5:55] Like I really didn't.
[5:56] So I kind of, I guess my sole focus was trying very hard to just save whatever money I could to try and get my foot back in the property market at that time is what I was thinking.
[6:06] So in 2018 then I was really lucky enough that I found...
[6:12] you know, it was kind of like a seller's market at the time, mind you, again, pre-COVID prices.
[6:18] And I come, you know, I'm from Adelaide, but, you know, outer suburbs and kind of like, you know, trying to find something cheap and, you know, that was affordable and, you know, all the things.
[6:29] So I just found something little that had good bones.
[6:31] I had put offers in on like multiple properties.
[6:33] And finally, the third property, you know, came off at really,
[6:36] to be honest, wasn't probably what I wanted at the time.
[6:39] I knew it was going to be a lot of like hard yards to get it up to scratch.
[6:43] You're like, I need to take what I can get.
[6:44] Absolutely, 100%.
[6:46] So I was lucky enough to buy something for $252,000.
[6:49] So I know that like that seems ridiculous.
[6:51] Oh my God, that Adelaide market seems like...
[6:53] It's insane now.
[6:54] Yeah.
[6:55] And like, you know, everything was baby blue, like nothing had ever been touched.
[6:58] It was a really rundown rental.
[7:00] Like it was hard.
[7:01] It was actually quite horrible.
[7:03] Like in the sense that I needed to take the whole of the summer to renovate with my family to get it to a point that I would feel comfortable to move in with children.
[7:11] Um, so, um, anyway, got it to that point and have slowly plugged away at reno's during that time.
[7:15] Um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um,
[7:18] I did keep a little bit of cash aside to do some renos, but then over time, you know, put a couple of the other renos plus my car on my mortgage because I thought that was the thing to do.
[7:30] I didn't really know any difference.
[7:33] Yeah.
[7:33] And then, you know, COVID came around, I was still doing the renos, basically I finished the house and the house was looking great.
[7:39] It had an agent come through and she's like, this is awesome now.
[7:41] Like you could, you know, could sell this like at a pretty decent margin, whatever.
[7:45] So I thought, well, I'll go to some mortgage brokers.
[7:47] Right.
[7:48] And kind of find out, could I maybe invent like somehow equity?
[7:52] Yeah.
[7:52] Like how does that roll?
[7:54] Yeah, I guess I was told like serviceability, no, like single mum, two little people.
[7:59] So, you know, that's, that's low and, you know, no, you can't really do anything.
[8:03] So, um, I then explored going into shares because I was like, well, what can I do?
[8:10] Sure.
[8:10] Like I've got a little bit of, cause I've got such a low mortgage.
[8:12] I do have extra, hadn't really got my head around the whole point of like, you know, maybe paying off your mortgage quicker.
[8:18] So,
[8:18] It's the way to go.
[8:19] And nobody's mentioned it before probably.
[8:21] Yeah, yeah, that's right.
[8:22] Like it's kind of like I'm paying at least, you know, 50 extra a week.
[8:25] Like I thought that was great, you know.
[8:27] So and I've still got more on top of that.
[8:29] So surely you can do some more.
[8:31] So I went down the share track and really that was a good thing.
[8:37] path at that time, I guess.
[8:38] Like it was something I could, I just did dollar cost averaging.
[8:42] I wasn't like, I wasn't trying to go with, you know, stock picking and anything like that.
[8:46] I did start exploring that and putting myself through a couple of courses, but I was just too scared.
[8:51] So, you know, I just went with ETF funds, put a few thousand dollars in kind of, you know, each quarter.
[8:57] But it's not a bad start for yourself investing.
[9:00] Yeah.
[9:00] And in the end, like I kind of, you know, as time went on and again, COVID was in there.
[9:05] So the market's
[9:06] dipped down a bit and I was I knew enough that I was happy to buy like whenever shares went down I'm like well that's on sale right like buy more if you can like push as hard as you could in that moment and then you know if it takes you a couple more months to save before you put more in that's fine so I kind of did that for a few years and I probably only put like
[9:25] I think I worked out it was about, I don't know, 66 or 70K in and then the returns on that, I kind of got it to 100K.
[9:33] And I'm like, when I got to 100K, I was like, what do I do now though?
[9:37] Because I feel like this is starting to get like, for me, big money.
[9:40] Yeah.
[9:40] Yeah, it's the most I've seen before.
[9:43] Yeah, it's the most I've ever seen before.
[9:45] I'm like, this is awesome.
[9:46] Maybe I should keep doing this, but is there another strategy?
[9:49] I don't know.
[9:49] Now I feel like, I don't know, all of a sudden once I hit that threshold, which was my big goal at the time, I'm like, this is crazy.
[9:56] Like, I don't know what could happen, but somehow it could all go wrong.
[9:59] Like, I need to look at other options.
[10:00] So yeah.
[10:01] From there, I, again, went back to a mortgage broker, still kind of told, you know, that, again, I guess at the time the conversation probably wasn't like, could you sell the shares and maybe we could do something with it.
[10:14] It was still looking at my serviceability, still dependent children and still a no.
[10:18] just a very black and white yeah so I'm just like well okay should I be doing stop like shares in a different way I don't know so then I went to a financial planner that I'd listened to um on some podcasts um elsewhere and like they seemed quite good and were saying the right things lots of conversations you know reviewing insurances very slowly and I'd already kind of done that but I just want someone to check that I've done the right setup you know again I'm a single mum so
[10:48] you don't want to waste more time either no no and then like then the next thing was because I'm like just do it all like I'll pay for all of it I'm good to go like let's just do this they're like we'll break it down so then we went to super and so then they talked me through a kind of like an in-between of like the um like an industry super and like a self-managed super fund like and so it kind of made sense and whatever and I ended up deciding like okay cool yeah I'm happy
[11:18] all that money but the visibility of it was atrocious and it scared the hell out of me because I was like I'm literally sitting it for me I thought like I did a lot of salary sacrificing as well because I thought that was also a good thing to do
[11:33] which, you know, can be, I guess, but with the right strategy, which I didn't really have one.
[11:38] So, you know, I'd got that to a couple hundred K and now all of a sudden I can't see it.
[11:43] And I'm like properly and I'm just like, oh my God, what have I done?
[11:47] You're like, am I in my third cycle of losing everything?
[11:50] Yes.
[11:50] I'm just like, what am I doing?
[11:52] I have no idea.
[11:53] And so I'm like, I am not comfortable with this at all.
[11:57] So I just lost faith in the process they were taking me down and,
[12:01] I had followed up a couple of times about that next strategy about, you know, shares or other investments or whatever.
[12:08] And I felt like I'd had a couple check-ins, an hour conversation each, which I'd taken leave, you know, from work to have these conversations and had the same blinking conversations over and over.
[12:18] And I was getting very frustrated because I understand I need to be risk adverse.
[12:22] Again, I get that in my situation.
[12:24] Yes.
[12:25] You still want to know exactly what you're doing, right?
[12:27] A hundred percent.
[12:27] And I want someone to help drive that forward for me.
[12:30] Yeah.
[12:31] So I'm just like, I'm so frustrated right now and I just don't know what to do.
[12:36] Yeah.
[12:37] So I don't like, again, I was very much like looking at podcasts and, you know, searching stuff.
[12:42] So I assume in however all that world works, which I don't understand through an algorithm of some kind.
[12:48] I was saying to the podcast before it was like you had a thought and then it popped up.
[12:52] A hundred percent, literally, like literally.
[12:54] And, you know, I was doing all things finance, like looking up all the things and podcasts and whatever.
[12:58] And not that the money mentor at that point had come up, but I think I came over the both sides podcast first, listened to G stuff and then bought the book straight away.
[13:08] And then even within the book, I realized actually, like once I explored a couple of things, I'm like, oh.
[13:14] Yeah.
[13:14] didn't realize like I'm kind of almost half set up like that with how I just refinanced because I would refinance every couple of years too by the way yeah I would reduce the years by you know whatever the original was but I still was you know trying to take advantage of the 5k they might have thrown at you or whatever kickback that were without realizing all the costs yeah totally so um
[13:37] read the book, implemented what I could just as my own little test.
[13:42] And I had also watched the webinar by that point.
[13:45] That was an easy win and a very easy win for anyone that's half interested.
[13:50] So, you know, I did watch that and I was just like, I'm signing up to the masterclass straight away.
[13:55] So I booked in the masterclass, which was last April, the ANZAC.
[13:59] weekend and I just happened to fall on a weekend I didn't have the kids which is only every few weekends so that was I'm like okay cool this is awesome so and I like it's a bit of a sign it was and by then I kind of like it had still I think it was I don't know a couple of months for whatever reason I couldn't maybe do the other one because I had the kid I don't know whatever but I couldn't do it until then
[14:19] And I'd been implementing what I could from the book until the masterclass essentially.
[14:26] And I'd already seen some changes in my bank account, right?
[14:29] And I'm just like, okay, all right.
[14:31] Maybe there's something to it.
[14:33] Like I thought I was budgeting because I had spreadsheets and I had all the things happening.
[14:37] And yes, of course, I'd done another book that had, you know, suggested multiple bank accounts.
[14:43] The buckets.
[14:44] That's right.
[14:46] And that made sense in my head.
[14:47] I am a visual person.
[14:48] So that was kind of cool.
[14:51] That worked for me.
[14:51] Look, it's always a good start.
[14:53] It was a good start.
[14:54] It's better than doing nothing.
[14:55] Yeah, absolutely.
[14:57] But it wasn't really...
[14:59] Yeah, I still didn't feel like I had a real plan that was driving me forward.
[15:03] And like I said, I really felt like I'm behind the eight ball and I need to get ahead again.
[15:09] Like I need to take a few steps ahead.
[15:11] I don't know how that happens, but I'm not willing to accept that where I'm at is enough.
[15:16] Like I know there's got to be a pathway forward.
[15:19] I just need to knock on the right doors.
[15:21] So anyway, obviously came across the masterclass and, yeah, I mean I was already hooked before the masterclass.
[15:29] I felt like I'm just like I'm hoping this is the answer to, you know, the questions I've been asking of myself and, you know, trying to find that pathway forward.
[15:37] So I was just like where can I sign up, please?
[15:41] And I blank in the hope that, you know, Infinity Accept Me, you know, it really did feel like it was going to be the right step forward for me.
[15:48] um which absolutely 100% it is like without a doubt so um yeah so it's kind of been my journey to date I guess or to to the start of infinity yeah yeah no which is so incredible because you got a very comparative journey of what it's like pre-infinity to then comparing to what it's like with infinity which we'll get into but what was it like for you on the master class talk me through
[16:09] Yeah.
[16:10] Each day and as you got deeper into the day, what it was like and running your own numbers.
[16:15] You know, I'm a learner and I like to kind of, I guess, absorb information, all the things, but certainly quickly did I learn to keep my mouth shut and just listen to G. Like, don't be making comments.
[16:26] Just listen, listen, listen.
[16:28] Because we already know what you're about to say, what you're about to ask.
[16:30] Yeah, you've done this a million times.
[16:31] You know your stuff.
[16:33] Like, you know, like it seems pointless otherwise.
[16:35] So, yeah, so I – look, I found it great.
[16:41] I kind of –
[16:43] I kind of felt like I was pretty aware of what I spent my money on.
[16:48] Again, I hadn't – I had started to consolidate that differently and that was – I could see how that was going to make a difference.
[16:55] I had never understood paying interest daily.
[16:58] Yeah.
[16:59] That had not really –
[17:00] It's calculated daily but charged monthly?
[17:02] Yeah, exactly.
[17:03] So when I kind of like realised that, did the calcs and whatever, I'm like, okay.
[17:07] So to get out of bed, it's basically costing me $40 a day, right, like in my situation for many more, heaps more than that.
[17:13] So I was just like, okay, this is interesting.
[17:16] Like I had this complete –
[17:20] I don't know, just epiphanies along the way of like how stupid are you?
[17:25] Like how did you not see some of this stuff before?
[17:28] Like the fact that maybe if I diverted all my savings to just paying the mortgage off and saving that thing.
[17:35] thousands hundreds of thousands of dollars in interest yeah might actually and and it's not just the savings of the interest but like when you actually paid off then you've got that whatever mortgage repayment you were paying you've got that available to you as well yeah i don't know why that just none of that had ever properly clicked it was hidden in plain sight and then no one tells you about it
[17:57] Yeah, and I think as well, like some of it's just so freaking simple and we're so freaking good at complicating things, right?
[18:03] Like so I think there's a lot of that.
[18:07] I think, you know, if we think it's too easy, surely that can't be right.
[18:11] Yeah, and we become sceptics and we say it's too good to be true.
[18:15] Correct.
[18:15] It was that easy.
[18:16] I would have known about it before.
[18:17] A hundred percent.
[18:18] Yeah.
[18:18] A hundred percent.
[18:18] So I definitely acknowledge that for myself.
[18:21] Yeah, so I think there were a couple key things that...
[18:25] For me, like I loved, you know, it was great hearing people ask questions and, you know, certainly by the end of the first day having a few people scenarios kind of –
[18:36] I don't know, evaluated live or whatever and kind of talked through.
[18:40] That was, I love that stuff.
[18:42] I love this stuff because it just feels real, like just hearing people's stories.
[18:45] So you like the testimonials too?
[18:47] Yeah, I love the testimonials, yeah.
[18:49] Like because you just, you can relate to different things in different people's worlds and that kind of like resonates and you're like, okay, they've got kids my, kids ages or, you know, or yeah, they're divorced too or like, you know, all the things.
[19:03] Yeah, because did it feel daunting as a single mum coming on to do it?
[19:07] look yes and no like I was I was obviously searching and wanting something yeah um I am probably compared to many I don't know like I'm a pretty outgoing person anyway I'm pretty independent um you know so um and everyone's so amazingly friendly so um but you know I guess there is like those things occasionally where you're just like oh yeah like it kind of
[19:30] can be a little overwhelming at times or a little daunting.
[19:34] Certainly in the process though since I have come on it's been great, you know, having, you know, Amanda as my RM and, you know, Trav and Paul and others that I can just reach out to and ask questions like I, you know, don't feel lonely in that journey.
[19:46] Yeah.
[19:47] Yeah, but...
[19:48] Back to kind of day two then of the masterclass, I think as well, listening to the sections on like the self-managed super funds.
[19:56] Because I always felt like they were big and scary.
[19:58] But then kind of just understand.
[19:59] I didn't realise you could actually buy property in them and stuff like.
[20:02] And you'd also gone through a little bit of education about super before signing up with Infinity.
[20:07] So you kind of went that extra mile to get more now and it was starting to click.
[20:10] Yeah, yeah.
[20:12] And just realising like, you know, if you structured that right, like all the big fees that are associated and there is big fees in those.
[20:18] But if you structure it right and do things well, it's actually not really any fees.
[20:22] Like, you know, like you can kind of offset all of that.
[20:25] And then not that I had done, like, as I said before, I'd put my, I'd paid most of my car kind of, well, cash, but obviously I had a mortgage, so yeah.
[20:35] You call that what you want.
[20:37] But I paid some of it there.
[20:38] I didn't – I had increased the mortgage by probably another 10 to kind of help me with the car at the time.
[20:44] But I'd never really considered like how you guys talk about car payments and stuff as well.
[20:50] So, again, not that I've –
[20:51] actioned that or needed to do anything in that space but just even learning around that stuff and how to structure things I'm like oh my god like how I would do things differently yeah you know like if if I could you know or I will do things differently moving forward now that I've got the information so yeah yeah everything that was shared was so valuable like even if I didn't I mean I wanted to but even if I didn't continue the journey with infinity like what I was able to
[21:18] from the masterclass was amazing.
[21:20] Like, um, was really great.
[21:22] So yeah.
[21:22] Yeah.
[21:24] And then talk to me, talk to me through what it was like your journey, signing up, coming on board, getting a finance strategist, RM.
[21:31] So I guess, um, when I probably didn't give many numbers before at all.
[21:35] Yeah.
[21:36] Cause where did the home loan start?
[21:37] Yeah.
[21:37] Yeah.
[21:38] So as I said, like I bought the house for like two 52, did some renos, um,
[21:44] I had got that down at one point to I think like 220 and then like increased that again when I was doing the bathroom rentals at the time and the car.
[21:55] And so I think when I joined you guys, I was sitting at possibly about 240 or thereabouts.
[22:00] So like in a, you know, in a.
[22:02] In a good few years, I really had not done much.
[22:06] Like I'd done a lot in the sense of what I was visually, you know, house-wise and whatever, but from an actual reducing mortgage, I hadn't really achieved that much.
[22:17] And that was frustrating to me because I felt like I wanted to, I was trying to have like a 20K buffer in, in,
[22:25] in my redraw at the time as well, like just as for emergencies.
[22:29] Cause I'd kind of felt like, you know, if I lost my job and if I had three months, like I was, you know, I had, I had a little plan, but, um, I just felt like anytime I kind of had anything over that, I'd end up finding a project at home or, you know, there'd be something.
[22:43] Find a way to spend it.
[22:44] Yeah.
[22:44] A hundred percent.
[22:45] So, um, so I certainly like I had, I had that,
[22:49] what was about I think 109k in shares when I started had about a couple hundred in super and then yes about that 240 mark with with the home so when I then have joined with infinity
[23:05] I was happy to and offered to, I'm like, you guys just tell me what to do here.
[23:10] Like whatever is going to be best.
[23:13] And again, there were strategies talked about.
[23:14] It wasn't like, you know, blindly completely going into anything.
[23:19] But, you know, I'm just like, what's important to me is absolutely smashing that mortgage out and then trying to,
[23:26] Because I'd never – sorry, the other thing that had dropped in the masterclass was around leveraging, right?
[23:31] Like I'd never really understood – and I didn't think I could leverage anything from equity in my home or whatever because I was told I couldn't.
[23:39] Your serviceability and – Yeah.
[23:41] Yeah.
[23:41] But –
[23:42] When I kind of realise like through, if it be through super or independently, you know, being able to say purchase a property for 700 mil, whatever, one point, whatever, like beyond, you know, if I could do that and it's the growth is on that amount versus my shares of.
[24:01] that amount like it was gonna be such a huge difference right so um that made a lot of sense to me so then yeah when having discussions with um Travis at the time around what like what does this look like for me um and yeah so I did choose to sell the shares off um I did set up a self-managed super fund um you know went through a bit of a journey so there was a lot of paperwork to start that was a lot but um
[24:26] I didn't have visibility of my super.
[24:28] So I knew by setting this up I was going to need to change something anyway for me to feel comfortable.
[24:32] So I might as well do what's the long game.
[24:34] Yeah.
[24:36] I knew that it was the opportunity then potentially to purchase something in the self-managed super fund.
[24:44] then, you know, Trav was going to look at equity in my home and stuff as well.
[24:47] So in the end, I have purchased something through my self-managed super fund.
[24:53] I also invest in a fund through there as well with some excess funds.
[25:00] I have done a dual Oc outside of super.
[25:04] So it's
[25:05] in my name like I guess your personal name thank you how do you say that um so that's in build process now so that hasn't come to fruition as yet but um that's what but you've settled on the asset yeah yeah correct correct so um which is really exciting so hope I don't know hopefully by the end of the year or close to early next year maybe that all comes to um tenatability or that's not a word I'm sure but
[25:30] Um, we can add that to the infinity dictionary.
[25:33] Um, so, um, yeah, so that will be really cool.
[25:36] Um, so at the moment I, um, so when I refinanced and did all the things and paid off the shares and all that, my mortgage is down to 140.
[25:48] Um, I do have a little bit of a buffer that sits in another little account, um, to assist with my headspace, um, which I'm grateful for.
[25:55] A security blanket.
[25:56] My little security blanket.
[25:57] Yeah.
[25:58] Um, that helps Ebony sleep at night.
[25:59] Um, so that's really cool.
[26:01] And, um, and yeah, I've been working on rapid repaying, um, you know, doing the FFF, doing all the things, um, that you guys suggest.
[26:09] And I'm down at the moment in just over a year to like 78 K left on my mortgage.
[26:15] Less than a hundred thousand.
[26:17] I know, it's epic, right?
[26:18] That is wild.
[26:19] So, like, I'm kind of like, that is pretty amazing.
[26:22] Yeah.
[26:23] I've also just bought or have paid off, you know, flights and accommodation for a trip with the kids to Bali next month for a couple of weeks, which will be amazing.
[26:34] And it was my girlfriend, one of my close friends, 40th early in the year and had a dream for some time that one day we'd do a trip to Europe.
[26:45] So...
[26:46] we are going to do that at the end of the year too so I've got a few weeks there which I've paid all of that off as well so it's just spending money for both those trips but I'm still at 78k left on my mortgage right and rushing it I'm just like I'm like oh I cannot believe I am and I'm just so grateful like amazingly grateful
[27:04] If you're enjoying this story and want to set yourself up for financial freedom as well, it all starts with our free 45 minute educational webinar.
[27:14] Click the link below this video to begin your journey today.
[27:17] It's absolutely incredible.
[27:19] Yeah.
[27:19] And I mean, you know, being a mom as well and, you know, having that sole responsibility of the main care for your kids is amazing.
[27:26] You know, that's obviously something you take very, very seriously when you're making these decisions.
[27:30] Yeah.
[27:31] Have you noticed any changes in your kids since this was started?
[27:34] Look, my kids, I'm going to say this up front, Rach, are freaking amazing.
[27:38] Like they are really, really great kids.
[27:42] So one, they're awesome anyway.
[27:45] But yeah, look, I talk with them about lots of stuff.
[27:49] Like connection and experiences is like one of my main drivers with them.
[27:53] And so...
[27:55] I guess in a situation their dad is fly in, fly out.
[27:58] And so he does miss out on a lot of time with them, admittedly, but he spends a lot of money on them.
[28:05] Yeah.
[28:07] I, on the other hand, I'm grateful for that.
[28:12] It's not how I choose to raise them.
[28:14] Yeah, you've got a different approach.
[28:16] But I also, I kind of, I guess my approach to that is I'm just like, do you know what, he does that so I don't have to.
[28:22] Yeah.
[28:22] Right.
[28:23] So they don't miss out, but I do talk to them.
[28:26] We like use that as opportunities of like, okay, so how many times did you guys Uber food to dads that weekend or whatever?
[28:33] Like, you know, we just kind of, we just talk from a, like a reality perspective.
[28:37] I'm like, so let's add that up.
[28:39] Yeah, I know you're only nine and whatever, but like, okay, so let's say that's, you know, how much, you know, even if it's just from McDonald's or, you know, whatever you might be getting, like how much are your meals each roughly?
[28:49] And then you add on a little bit for that to get there.
[28:51] So that's that amount per meal, right?
[28:54] And like, how many times do you think you did that?
[28:55] Like, and so just trying to go, okay, so that's like, at least 300 bucks.
[29:01] Yeah, we can.
[29:02] minimum probably more than that like at times and I just go like you know so again it's not to say we can't enjoy things like that but we need to choose how often we kind of do that kind of thing right so and you know being knowing that we're working towards a little trip yeah and certainly at the end of paying the house off like we've they've got a very clear vision so do I
[29:24] of what we would like to do, you know, I'm not exactly sure.
[29:29] I say clear vision.
[29:30] The clear vision is bungalows over water somewhere, right?
[29:33] Like, you know, if that's Maldives or like.
[29:35] But there's also some that they're getting into that like vision boarding.
[29:38] Yeah, yeah.
[29:38] Yeah, totally, totally.
[29:39] And I'm like, you know, let's go to – I'm literally – I'm like, let's go pick up some brochures from the travel agent.
[29:45] Like find the pictures of things you would love to do as experiences or whatever, like cut them out, let's put them on our board or like, you know, let's talk about those kind of experiences we want to have.
[29:56] And that's fine.
[29:56] We actually can have that.
[29:58] I know we can but it means we don't do all of this there, right?
[30:03] Like it just means we – like –
[30:06] I say sacrifice.
[30:07] I don't even feel like I am sacrificing.
[30:09] You don't feel like you're missing out.
[30:11] No, we live as good a life as we had.
[30:14] For me it hasn't felt like big changes.
[30:16] There have been tweaks and it's restructure.
[30:19] Like, you know, it's not even like, I mean, I gratefully...
[30:24] did actually get a pay rise at the beginning of the year, but that wasn't what infinity was all based on.
[30:29] That was, I was already seeing rapid change anyway based on my normal numbers, right?
[30:35] Like it was just a restructure.
[30:36] That's all that was.
[30:37] So the kids have been great in that they understand mum says no a lot.
[30:43] They get it.
[30:44] But it's not always a bad thing.
[30:45] It's not always a bad thing.
[30:47] thing and we just talk about the reasons behind that and the reasons why.
[30:50] We've also got to a point as well is that they were both a little entrepreneurial anyway before I started this journey.
[30:57] So like my little man makes little propagation stations because I love indoor plants and stuff.
[31:02] So they've made some stuff there and my daughter would make candles with my dad and so and we'd try and sell that.
[31:10] Yeah.
[31:11] The probably the blockage there is just mum's time to actually help.
[31:15] Yeah.
[31:15] Yeah.
[31:15] Promote and sell that.
[31:17] So, but, you know, so they were both keen to kind of try and earn their own money.
[31:21] And I was trying to teach them a little bit of responsibility around, you know, how much it costs to make something.
[31:28] You've got to take that off and whatever.
[31:30] So in recent times, again, he's only nine, but my little guys started lawn mowing.
[31:35] Um, so, and he does that for me at the moment.
[31:37] So I had been, um, paying somebody to do it, which I hadn't been super happy with how that had been going.
[31:44] And I'm just like, do you know what?
[31:47] Why not?
[31:48] Again, like I'll do the edges.
[31:50] But, you know, if I can get you at least I'll pay you basically $10 a lawn kind of thing because I've got quite – as much as I've got a small house, I've got a very big block of land and a lot of lawn.
[32:03] So, yeah, so he gets in there and does that and, you know, the lawnmower is much bigger than he is but he has a good crack and he'll de-poop the lawn first because we've got a fur baby as well.
[32:13] Yeah.
[32:14] And, you know, like, you know, they'll just – he'll get in and do that.
[32:17] My daughter, you know, she helps with a little bit of the cleaning stuff and that will be something I want her to pick up a little bit more of as time kind of goes on.
[32:26] But she contributes heaps and helps with sorting the chook yard out and, you know, things along those lines.
[32:32] They're learning to cook.
[32:34] So they both usually contribute with one meal a week to the house.
[32:39] So, again, I know there might sound like –
[32:41] child labor like slave labor i don't know but um that's incredible value yeah seeds he makes her like a mean scrambled eggs and um charlie's been learning like you know honey honey chicken and bolognese and you know the different things and she she'll make um you know she did like i bake a bit so she um she's learned to kind of do cupcakes and so she made a batch of cupcakes with a friend when they were over recently and then went and gave them all to the neighbors right so which was
[33:11] That's their way of giving back.
[33:13] Yeah, 100%.
[33:14] So, yeah, so they do contribute.
[33:16] Like they do.
[33:17] They offer a lot of value to my wealth.
[33:21] So, yeah.
[33:23] But, yeah, I think they get it.
[33:26] I have a little, this is something Amanda, my RM,
[33:31] challenged me with early on she knew in talking with me that I'm a visual person so um she's like create you know a little chart of like um you know where you're at and um each month post like you know as you know as a single post it in the in the infinity fan page I'm like oh
[33:50] I'm not sure about this.
[33:52] You know, I'm like, I don't mind making it for myself.
[33:54] But she's like, just do it.
[33:56] I'm like, okay.
[33:57] So that's something I need to be accountable to her.
[34:00] So, yeah, when I do my sweeps each month, I do post them in the Infinity Fan page, which is amazing.
[34:06] We all rally around each other.
[34:08] It's so good.
[34:09] Yeah.
[34:30] But, you know, if it be a bad month or if it be a great month, like everyone just gets around everyone and everyone's just like all in for each other's journeys and really encouraging.
[34:40] And so I'm grateful for that because I don't have that person.
[34:44] Like, again, I banter with the kids a little bit, but I don't have that person at home that I am talking about those wins or the focus or whatever.
[34:51] Because you're holding the gauntlet for the whole family.
[34:54] Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[34:55] So it is nice to, you know, at the beginning of the year when Amanda's diary opened up, I booked the rest of the year's appointments with her.
[35:04] She's like, you did this at one in the morning.
[35:05] I'm like, I'm so sorry that woke you up.
[35:08] But like I am that kind of person.
[35:10] I'm like, I know I don't have that for me so I will take advantage of those things that are being offered because I know that will help me, keep me on track, right?
[35:19] Yeah.
[35:19] But that's going to make you the most successful in the journey is like taking everything that we can throw at you.
[35:25] Yes.
[35:25] You know, all the resources, all the support and education, which you've really killed it at doing so far.
[35:30] Yeah.
[35:30] Yeah.
[35:31] Yeah.
[35:32] So I'll lean into that stuff.
[35:33] I'm like, if you guys are offering and, um, and willing, I'm, I'm happy to, um, to jump on that.
[35:40] So we on my budget meeting on Friday night.
[35:43] Yes, I was.
[35:44] Yeah, 100%.
[35:45] I was even at MAM last night.
[35:47] But, yes, I was at your budget meeting.
[35:49] Your slides were a beautiful, Rachel.
[35:51] Oh, thank you.
[35:51] I really loved them.
[35:53] But, yeah, no, it was great.
[35:55] And I watched some of your Insta stuff afterwards as well.
[35:59] That was suggested in the thing to go and have a little look at, which is actually a bit of a question I've got maybe towards the end if we get time.
[36:08] But, yes, anyway, so, yes.
[36:11] Wow, you are just crushing it.
[36:13] And I just love – you're so happy.
[36:15] You just seem genuinely so enthralled with everything that you've done so far, which just comes out.
[36:22] Well, and I guess it's this thing.
[36:24] Like when I was, you know, here last night, sitting by myself without children, you know, kind of with me or anyone else around me, and I didn't really, you know, have anything else I needed to do.
[36:36] I'm just reflecting and just think, man, like –
[36:40] I know how bad my mental health was when I was, you know, a number of years back, right?
[36:47] And I kind of think, you know, I felt like I had a lot of loss in the sense of the loss of dreams.
[36:55] And that kind of like, well...
[36:57] how, yeah, like this is not how I kind of genuinely thought things would be.
[37:02] Yeah.
[37:03] And so I still have found it a little tricky to kind of go anything's possible now.
[37:09] Yeah.
[37:10] But certainly in such a short period of time, I'm like, fuck.
[37:12] Far out.
[37:13] Anything is possible.
[37:14] Like actual.
[37:15] Some huge mindset shifts.
[37:17] Yeah.
[37:17] Some really.
[37:18] And like, okay, so maybe I can actually dream again.
[37:22] Like, and I'm like, oh, my God, I can give myself permission for that.
[37:25] But what does that look like?
[37:26] I don't even know.
[37:27] Like, yeah, do you know what I mean?
[37:30] Like I kind of.
[37:31] You know, I didn't think even last year that I'd be like doing anything overseas for a while.
[37:36] Like when the kids were a lot younger and in the midst of renovations and all things, I bought a little camper.
[37:45] And so that's our thing, right?
[37:47] Like when we get a little minute, we'll go away and I'll do just a cheap.
[37:50] camp a trip I can take meals with me I can do all the things and I love that like that's for me that's my grounding place and we've had some great memories and little adventures we've done the great ocean I would done you know lots of lots of little things um but I didn't think I'd be able to afford to do the overseas stuff in all honesty or whatever whereas here I am I've got two trips booked this year and possibly could do one next year mind you in my head I've gone
[38:18] I just want to know that mortgage is paid before I'm doing anything more.
[38:21] Well, that can be your big celebration after.
[38:23] That is 100% going to be my big celebration afterwards.
[38:26] And then it's kind of like, well, you know, what now?
[38:29] Like does that kind of make sense?
[38:31] Yeah.
[38:31] And it's exciting though that you're at that probably well before you'd ever would have expected.
[38:37] And you've also got the properties as well.
[38:39] Yeah.
[38:39] Yeah, 100%.
[38:40] Like I just feel like it's all heading in a direction that I want it to head and, yeah, I'm very grateful for it.
[38:45] I'm very happy, very excited for what's to kind of come and what could be and really surprised at how quickly that's kind of happened.
[38:55] Yeah.
[38:56] She only been with us for a year.
[38:58] Yeah.
[38:58] Yeah, yeah, one whole.
[39:00] Yeah.
[39:01] It's such a short period of time.
[39:02] Like, you know, I feel like I'd been doing things for years before that to try and, um, you know, and some of that was like maybe a bit of a launch pad, I guess, but, um, yeah, it's, it's pretty cool.
[39:15] So, um, really grateful.
[39:17] And, you know, there are things that are frustrating in life.
[39:19] Like that's just going to be how it is, but, um, just like, you know, all in all, I'm like, I am kind of,
[39:26] almost living a dream life like in a sense of like you know you almost have that full flexibility and freedom if you want it like you know I'm almost at that point and I I kind of to a degree feel like I almost I'm I'm like I look at my mortgage now and I think it's almost like what some people put as a car loan right so nuts right and then I'm kind of like you know well you know the freedom's almost there in that like I am at a place where I feel like I can pretty much choose like do I want the experience
[39:53] experience or do I not want the experience?
[39:56] Whereas before it's just like a hard no, well, that's not going to happen.
[40:00] So I'm grateful for where I'm at now.
[40:02] So yeah.
[40:03] I mean, I always feel like you have to want this for yourself just as much as we want it for you, if not more, really.
[40:09] because we're only going to just guide you and help you steer the ship.
[40:13] You've really got to take the wheel though and do it.
[40:15] And I think that's why you've done so, so well.
[40:18] And you had a lot of no's before and you were told by advisors, oh, look, it's just not going to happen.
[40:23] You can't service.
[40:24] But you didn't take no for an answer.
[40:26] You kept going.
[40:27] Yeah, that's got to like, yeah.
[40:28] I mean, that's probably a bit of a trait from my family, really.
[40:32] Do your family know about all this?
[40:33] Yeah, they actually do.
[40:35] Not all of them, but a lot of them do.
[40:39] I didn't talk about a lot of it and it's probably only in the last couple of months has everything come out.
[40:44] Like they probably knew I was on a financial journey, but I didn't talk about the fact that I had investment properties and stuff.
[40:50] So, yeah, that's probably new news to some of them.
[40:54] um um and i've you know encouraged a couple of them to you know take a look at um the webinar and potentially the master class because i do think well i mean i i'd love all of them to be part of it because you know if it's changed my world as much as it has i know what it could do for them yeah that's their journey we'll see what they choose to do the christmas party together it would be freaking amazing be much easier way to do christmas guys i'm just saying like let's just do this it'll be made way easier
[41:20] then we don't need to have the arguments every year.
[41:21] But, yeah, I mean, outside of that, I'm happy to talk about it, but I'm not going to ever ram things down people's throats.
[41:29] I'm definitely a lot more way-wired probably financially.
[41:33] And I think part of that is because of where I have come from on my relationship journey and kind of just feeling like I need to get that back for myself, whereas, you know, maybe some don't have that same...
[41:44] That same drive or catalyst?
[41:45] Yeah, same need or haven't had that same, I guess it's the drive or they haven't kind of been in that position to feel like that's where it's at.
[41:54] Yeah.
[41:55] And what does the kids' future look like now?
[41:56] It looks pretty darn good.
[41:57] I definitely want to create that generational wealth, which absolutely is happening.
[42:05] But I guess this kind of...
[42:09] Is it premature to go to a question?
[42:10] Can I like link it?
[42:11] No, go for it.
[42:13] This kind of like goes to something I wanted to ask you about is I am very community focused, I guess, and like that's kind of that's a background of mine as well with, you know, previous work and what have you and something I'm really passionate about.
[42:29] And I guess as well being where I've been in a couple relationship journeys and what have you.
[42:38] I know how challenging it can be, particularly for single parents, you know, and others.
[42:45] But I guess I'm particularly thinking of a couple, well, one of my very close friends and a family member of mine that I just kind of go like –
[42:55] they've almost, you could say, lost everything, right?
[42:59] Like, you know, or are renting.
[43:02] And in this world of renting, how the hell do you say for a mortgage at the same time, right, like to get into the property market?
[43:10] And I'm like, I don't know what to – I don't know how to give people like that hope or –
[43:17] What can I do genuinely?
[43:19] Like I would love to maybe be in a position one day that Beck and G are in where they're like able to kind of assist their families and what have you.
[43:28] So, you know, I mean, maybe that's the strategy.
[43:30] But, you know, how do I...
[43:34] How do, like, what could I, I guess, if I'm, if I was going to take my social responsibility and go, right, you know, all I, all I actually ever wanted was my mortgage paid off and a house each for the kids in my mind.
[43:46] I thought that was, that was gold.
[43:48] The pinnacle.
[43:49] Absolutely.
[43:50] And I feel like that's really possible.
[43:51] So yeah.
[43:52] let's assume that's done.
[43:54] And then I'm still in that position where, okay, I have got an opportunity where, you know, I could maybe invest or is there some diff might be outside of infinity's world.
[44:07] I'm not sure.
[44:08] But like are there like affordable housing type things that I could be doing to kind of help, you know, like does that make sense?
[44:18] I'm not really sure how to kind of go down this path but I just –
[44:22] I want to be able to give hope to people that, you know, I understand I'm to some level in a bit of a privileged situation.
[44:28] I bought when I bought and it was really cheap and that is not the world today, right?
[44:32] Like I'm in a pretty well-paid job now.
[44:35] A lot of people are not in those kind of positions.
[44:38] Like I am very grateful for where I'm at and the journey I've been on.
[44:43] It's not everyone's journey.
[44:44] I get that.
[44:45] But for those that it's not, how do you give people hope that there is some form of a future for them with the world that is right now?
[44:53] One of the best ways is actually coming on sharing your story on the podcast, which is exactly what you're doing now.
[45:00] personally though it has to it's a mindset thing as well there's only so much you can tell somebody and if they're just not going to believe it or believe that it's possible for them it's really hard to give someone hope but sharing the education sharing your story um even them going and budgeting or even giving them you know dropping seeds like why don't you be a rent investor for a while you know if buying an owner occupies out of reach right now because of where the market is why don't you look at rent vesting because
[45:26] go and buy an affordable property based on what you can do, whatever your savings position is, and that's your entry into the market.
[45:33] And one day maybe that property grows enough, your circumstances change where you do debt reduction on that property, then you can sell it and go buy the unoccupier or you just rent vest for a while.
[45:43] You know, rent vesting is a good strategy for some in starting their journey.
[45:47] Ultimately, our goal for people is to always get into an unoccupier because it's security.
[45:52] Yeah, yeah.
[45:53] Right, because eventually you can pay it down.
[45:55] You can't pay down rent.
[45:56] And if you stay renting forever and not take any action, you're going to have that rental liability forever.
[46:03] So it's really about just taking action for them and helping steer them into the direction of the education and maybe sending them a few reels that you're like –
[46:12] this is really valuable information for you to know.
[46:14] And maybe one day, longer term, when you feel like you're in more of a secure position, you gift people equity and that helps them get into the market, you know, or there are, you know, for single parents, there's the 2% deposit scheme.
[46:27] So single parents can get into property now with a very low deposit and no lender's mortgage insurance.
[46:33] So there's the 5% schemes as well.
[46:35] There's now a help to buy scheme where the government will go up from 30% to 40% on the property.
[46:42] You make up the rest.
[46:43] Okay.
[46:44] And that's to help bridge the gap between the serviceability issues.
[46:48] Because some people might have 5%, but they can't service the debt needed for a million dollar property.
[46:52] Yeah, yeah.
[46:52] That's exactly right.
[46:54] So the government has said, okay, we'll try to help bridge that gap to get you in.
[46:58] Okay.
[46:59] Don't love that option because the government then also shares in the profit too.
[47:04] They'll share in the losses, of course, if there is, but knowing what we know about property, it's done very well over 40 years.
[47:11] We have not had many dips at all, but it's a way in.
[47:14] Yeah, that's right.
[47:16] If that's your foot in, there's so many things that you can do, but really to give them hope is the education to know that those schemes are out there.
[47:24] Yeah, that's right.
[47:25] yeah okay yeah yeah that's good I guess there's probably those things where I don't even know about some of those schemes so you know probably finding a little bit more information about that and sharing that as well it's not a bad thing I might do a couple of reels on it then yeah I think that would be really valuable I think a lot of people would love that and appreciate it yeah yeah okay I'll do a couple of reels breaking down each of the options yeah like the two percent scheme the five percent the help to buy yeah yeah do you think tiny homes is a thing
[47:49] it's not from a profitability perspective like you would for from like how we roll here but um I mean look if you bought a nice block of land and that was your starter and you've still got the asset of land maybe but yeah yeah it's not yeah it's not going to make make money but yeah you know I've known people who love them yeah you know um from a livability perspective they're like it's it's the greatest but yeah you you really you want assets yeah yeah you really want assets oh I look forward to seeing some of your reels that would be amazing yeah
[48:18] No, no worries.
[48:18] Do you have any more questions for me?
[48:20] I did have two more.
[48:21] I'll try and smash them out really quickly.
[48:23] So I, like, Infinity's become, as I've heard G refer to it a couple of times and possibly yourself, a bit of a lifestyle brand to some level, right?
[48:33] Which I totally agree with.
[48:36] And I'm just wondering, like, I...
[48:38] um when I first met the Perrymans um we were on a transfer to REM together um and but I didn't know who they were at the time yeah um I catch up with them for coffee every now and then now and I'm grateful to have them in my little orbit um but what I I learned from them and why I connect with them um is I realized they had been over to Africa recently like you know when they went on a trip and um they've spoken about that a little bit and then when I was um I'm
[49:06] At REM, I met another girl at a table and then I ran into her at lunch the next day and I was trying to work out her accent.
[49:13] And then we got talking because I've been to Africa before.
[49:16] I should have given that as a backstory.
[49:19] And I actually realised then I'd actually gone and volunteered in her local hometown in Zimbabwe on a Black Rhino Ellie kind of vacation.
[49:28] conservation park over there and the family I was kind of working for at the time um her best friends their daughter um who I met whilst I was there I was like oh my god and she's like I've never met anyone that's ever been there either like you know it was crazy and we just we just were bantering for a second like how could it be I'm like I haven't talked about Africa in much
[49:48] like, well, years.
[49:49] Yeah.
[49:50] And then I've met, like, two people in the last two days that have been to similar places that I've been to and I'm like, I wonder if there'd ever be, like, community things that Infinity would ever do overseas to kind of, like, I don't know, orphanages or schools or...
[50:04] I don't know.
[50:04] I'm taking that like way.
[50:06] I'm just using the opportunity to ask the question.
[50:08] Oh, I don't hate it.
[50:09] Has this ever been a thing that's been discussed?
[50:12] I was just curious.
[50:13] Oh, watch this space.
[50:14] Never say never because, I mean, you obviously know about the Kmart wishing tree appeal.
[50:17] Yes, I love that.
[50:18] Yeah, we did nearly $1.1 million last year.
[50:20] Definitely $2 million.
[50:21] They set out to do $2 million this year.
[50:23] Yeah, very insightful.
[50:24] We do a lot for domestic violence survivors as well.
[50:28] We donate our old company phones to them.
[50:31] There's a lot of like little things we do on the ground here, but now we're going global.
[50:34] Yeah, I know.
[50:35] That's what I mean.
[50:36] I'm kind of like, I feel like there's so many amazing opportunities that Mike, I'm not saying this is like a right now thing,
[50:41] But I'm just like, man, I just feel like you guys have got such an amazing influence and you use it for good.
[50:46] I know that.
[50:46] I see that in some of the amazing things you're already doing.
[50:49] And, you know, I've been grateful to be a part of the Kmart wishing tree thing.
[50:54] And I love the phones for DV.
[50:56] Yeah.
[50:56] Amazing.
[50:57] Like I really, yeah, I think that's bloody amazing.
[51:01] So I just think, oh, there could be some other cool things that could come.
[51:04] So I don't know.
[51:05] It was just, it was weird because I'd never...
[51:07] thought of any, any of it for so long.
[51:10] And then I was like, my gosh, at a REM.
[51:12] I'm like, what?
[51:14] Yeah.
[51:14] And then the only other question, um, or maybe just comment really, um, is obviously there's a bit of a singles community kind of, um, evolving, um, the single Pringles we, we're known as.
[51:27] Yeah.
[51:28] um within infinity which is awesome and um uh from mel's podcast um i realized there was a bit of a group um happening and um online and so you know a number of us have kind of connected through there recently because the chat's got too big they've had to try and transfer it to other things because it's just
[51:46] it's becoming a thing and I was like I wonder if you're probably going off all the time yeah that's right I'm like I wonder if there'd be I don't know anything that infinity kind of actually proactively does in that space mind you I know you guys do so much in the community already and like even just the single tables at REM and stuff's nice to meet other other people and that kind of thing I did think you could even do a dating app no I'm joking I'm joking that's not a good idea infinite love yeah
[52:14] So good, Rach.
[52:15] So good.
[52:16] No, I don't think that's probably the best idea.
[52:18] But I did suggest to Nat and Craig and Megan after the Adelaide community event, I'm just like, oh, it would have been, it would be cool maybe to even do it like pre those events.
[52:31] Like even like, again, we can pay.
[52:33] You guys do so much.
[52:34] Like it doesn't require any more funding for infinity.
[52:37] But like we could have met up earlier just to meet some of the other singles in the area.
[52:42] Because it's just, it's hard to know who to kind of connect with.
[52:46] Yeah.
[52:47] And I just mean that from even, you know, catching up for coffee or just sending each other messages to encourage each other and banter and find some people in your local area.
[52:54] Because, again, I'm very grateful and I do lean into using Amanda as that,
[53:00] for me um but i know that it can mean a lot for people certainly if they're not maybe as bold as me at times to um just to have some other people they can kind of bounce off yeah yeah um i think that's why we love our community events so much because we do bring you you know closer to the people that are in your area and at rem will put you seated based on people by area as well so yeah
[53:23] And then we do our pre-rem dinner as well.
[53:25] So we try to get as many people there as possible as well.
[53:28] So, yeah, but who knows how we're going to continue to expand?
[53:32] Because even when I think, holy crap, I think we finally reached the peak.
[53:36] Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[53:37] We've figured it out.
[53:38] Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[53:39] The next week we're thinking of something else.
[53:41] I know.
[53:41] Some of the things I hear you guys banter about in different things or, you know, you hear the next edition of what's going to be happening at the Christmas party or whatever.
[53:48] You're like, what?
[53:49] It's like crazy.
[53:51] Mental.
[53:51] But like you said before, you know, we've got incredibly talented people who work here.
[53:55] Amazing.
[53:55] Everybody's always thinking of something.
[53:57] We're always talking about our clients and how we can just do more and be more.
[54:01] Yeah.
[54:02] So look.
[54:03] Yeah.
[54:03] You've created a great environment for that creativity.
[54:06] And anything you put on is wild, but really great at the same time.
[54:11] So in all the good ways.
[54:12] So, yeah.
[54:13] Well, we absolutely love you being a part of it.
[54:15] And thank you so much for coming on to share your story.
[54:17] I know it's going to resonate with a lot of single mummers out there.
[54:20] So I appreciate it so much.
[54:22] No, you're welcome.
[54:22] Thank you for having me.
[54:23] No worries.
[54:25] Fuck.
[54:26] Fuck.
[54:26] Fuck.
[54:27] Fuck.
[54:29] Fuck.
[54:30] You're fucking gone.
[54:30] See ya.
