Larissa and Brad join the Money Mentor podcast to share how financial coaching with Infinity transformed their lives. Before, they had no budget or structure, spent impulsively, and only saw an accountant annually. After discovering Infinity via podcasts and webinars, they embraced budgeting, rapid debt repayment, and strategic property investing. They sold an old owner occupied property, used equity wisely, and grew from one home to three investment properties, reaching a 2.5M portfolio and substantial savings. The process brought reduced stress, improved family presence, healthier habits (quitting smoking/drinking, fitness challenges), and stronger financial literacy for their children. Trust in the advisor, ongoing communication, and a supportive community were key to their confidence. They now enjoy flexibility, less worry about bills, clearer priorities, and plans for future travel and lifestyle changes. They recommend Infinity to anyone seeking holistic life transformation, financially, physically, and emotionally. ## Transcript

[0:00] How did we build that trust with you?
[0:02] Trust is a big thing.
[0:03] It's a very big thing, especially when you'd already started to explore other companies and weren't quite satisfied with them.
[0:09] How were we able to actually build that trust with you guys?
[0:12] I think all the knowledge that was shared with us really –
[0:17] Gave us the confidence too.
[0:19] You like that we actually took you on the journey.
[0:21] Yes.
[0:21] Brought you into the numbers and all of that.
[0:24] Yes.
[0:24] Yeah.
[0:25] So you got that understanding.
[0:26] Yeah.
[0:27] And we used to watch all the podcasts and see all the people and say, wow, how do you do that?
[0:32] Yeah, because there's so much information about it within you.
[0:34] So it's like, look at all this proof, you know, look at all these people, happy people.
[0:37] All those clients happy.
[0:38] Yeah.
[0:38] Money is on the root of all evil.
[0:39] The fucking lack of it is not money.
[0:41] The lack of understanding money.
[0:43] When I put that into emphasis, when I realized that psychological effect and how it hit our family, I FDB in the fucking way.
[0:50] You are now watching the Money Man Talk podcast with Brian Holm.
[0:54] Brian Holm.
[0:55] Brian Holm.
[0:57] Bradley had a $400 a week spending habit, and that was before you looked at the mortgage.
[1:03] He runs his own business in regional Victoria.
[1:06] ERISA manages the home and the admin.
[1:09] Three kids, a brand new build, and a lot of hard work going out the door.
[1:14] They weren't in crisis, but they had no system and no real idea where it was all going.
[1:21] They found infinity through a podcast, attended the masterclass and walked out with a plan for the first time.
[1:28] Bradley quit everything, smoking, alcohol, coffee and redirected every dollar.
[1:35] He also lost 16 kilograms.
[1:37] The financial shift became a personal one.
[1:40] And 14 months after joining, their home loan was completely paid off, saving over half a million dollars in interest.
[1:48] They've since released equity and built a property portfolio approaching $2.5 million, all while raising three kids.
[1:57] Meet Bradley and Larissa and how they change not just their finances, but their entire lives.
[2:04] Welcome back to the Money Mentor Podcast.
[2:06] We have our latest episode of Changing Lives Financially, and we have Larissa and Brad today.
[2:11] How are you guys?
[2:12] Good, thanks.
[2:13] How are you?
[2:13] Thanks for having us.
[2:14] I'm great, thank you.
[2:14] How are you feeling?
[2:15] Yeah, a little bit nervous, but we'll be all right once we get going and start talking, we'll bring back and we'll remember everything and the journey we've been on.
[2:25] Yeah, it's been a big one.
[2:26] Yes.
[2:26] It's been a very big one.
[2:28] And look, nobody tells your story better than you do, so that's what we're here to do today.
[2:31] So tell me where you were before you met Infinity, what you were doing wrong, what you didn't like about your journey and what you were hoping to find when you did meet Infinity.
[2:41] I think we didn't have any structure whatsoever.
[2:44] Like we were just living without thinking, just spending money as we please.
[2:52] Yeah.
[2:52] Yeah.
[2:53] And we usually get like a...
[2:58] end of the year review with accountant, the accountant said, business done great and then we look at each other and spend this money.
[3:05] Yeah, we had nothing there.
[3:09] So you'd only meet the accountant once a year?
[3:11] Yes.
[3:11] After the fact of everything happening throughout the year?
[3:14] So we didn't even have structure on the business side?
[3:16] No.
[3:16] Brad, you've done well.
[3:18] Here, pay this.
[3:19] I'm like, oh, gee, I ought to find money to get that.
[3:21] Yeah.
[3:22] So we were preempting the tax and putting it away.
[3:25] Yeah.
[3:26] No discipline, anything at all.
[3:28] No budget.
[3:29] No budget.
[3:30] Always buying the kids.
[3:33] And just brought the cars.
[3:34] Just, you know, oh, you want a car?
[3:35] Okay, bang.
[3:36] Bang.
[3:37] Just get what I want when I want.
[3:38] Yeah.
[3:38] Yeah.
[3:39] We thought we were doing good until we met G. Yeah.
[3:43] And everything they were doing, yeah, we knew that we wasn't the right to start to do.
[3:49] Everything G said not to do, we were done.
[3:51] You were doing.
[3:52] Yes.
[3:52] Yeah.
[3:53] And how did you guys meet?
[3:54] Because we do come from very different backgrounds.
[3:56] So tell me about that story.
[3:57] Brad can tell that.
[3:59] Yeah, I'll tell that one.
[4:00] Yeah, yeah.
[4:00] So I was at the pub one night, you know, I had a few beers and I was like, who's that over there?
[4:05] She's all right.
[4:06] it's like a like a tanned asian you know that's what i was thinking i like that you know so yeah then stalked my facebook yeah stalked the facebook on the old yeah she was working in the same um uh place that my friend was working at so i asked him what he's that way you know he's telling me go right oh yeah yeah no worries and i couldn't like i couldn't remember her last name thinking oh what's her last name someone
[4:30] Did you need that for Facebook?
[4:31] Yeah, so I'm like, first name, and I'm like, it's going to be here somewhere, something long, something hard to pronounce.
[4:36] I found it.
[4:38] So I found out of there, but she wouldn't have to be back.
[4:41] Yeah, I didn't know this guy.
[4:43] I'm not going to.
[4:44] Yeah, who do you have?
[4:45] As a friend?
[4:46] Yeah.
[4:47] But then I saw he had some friends in common because the town we used to live, it was quite small.
[4:53] Yeah, small town.
[4:53] Yeah.
[4:54] Yeah.
[4:55] So then we start talking.
[4:56] It was like three months just talking, talking.
[4:59] I say, what's wrong with this guy?
[5:01] Like in Brazil, like you just go straight to the point.
[5:04] Don't mess around.
[5:06] And then I was three months talking, just message each other.
[5:11] And then I ask, what's your intention?
[5:14] Like.
[5:15] Not going to invite me for a date or anything?
[5:16] Yeah, I was a bit slow.
[5:17] I was.
[5:18] I was just talking, hanging out, going in the river with the dog.
[5:22] And then, yeah, didn't do anything until later on.
[5:27] Yeah.
[5:28] And then it was full on?
[5:29] Yeah.
[5:29] Yeah.
[5:30] And I got pregnant.
[5:32] How quickly?
[5:32] Yeah, it was like three months after.
[5:34] Yeah, it was very short.
[5:36] So then you eventually moved quickly.
[5:38] Yes.
[5:41] We've been together for 12 years and we have an 11-year-old daughter, so that can do the math.
[5:47] Yeah.
[5:48] Yeah, it was very quick.
[5:49] Yes, it was.
[5:50] We got married together.
[5:52] Three years?
[5:54] 2026.
[5:54] Yeah, it'll be four years this year.
[5:56] Yeah.
[5:56] Yeah, we went married in Fiji, just us.
[5:59] Just our two daughters at that time.
[6:00] Oh, that's lovely.
[6:01] Just, yeah, just kept it small.
[6:03] It was good, really good.
[6:05] Yeah, very intimate because it was hard, like, to kind of choose which...
[6:11] at the location like or brazil or australia so we just fought yeah because you've got family over there so you have family here so that's right every night it's a bit unfair for me to have my family there and she hasn't got none of her family so it's a bit unfair you know so you didn't invite anyone yeah
[6:28] We're glad we did because lots of people can spend a heap of money and put on top of their home loan and things like that.
[6:37] Yeah, I was doing a podcast with another couple yesterday and they were saying that their broker let them borrow money against the home to pay for the wedding and never explained to them
[6:46] you know, if you only do minimum repayments, you're only going to pay it off your wedding over 30 years.
[6:50] Oh, yeah.
[6:51] So no education on that side.
[6:52] So, yeah, you're absolutely right.
[6:54] Yes.
[6:54] Well, you knew what you had.
[6:55] You had a good thing.
[6:56] So yeah, we have the instinct there.
[6:59] We just need to put all the other things in practice.
[7:02] Yeah.
[7:02] Yeah.
[7:03] We eventually bought a house together.
[7:04] Yes.
[7:05] When did that happen?
[7:06] Well, I think everything just happened.
[7:08] Like I was renting this house from a friend and then I found out I was pregnant and then she eventually wanted to put this house on sale.
[7:18] And then we just decided.
[7:20] Oh, so you bought your friend's house?
[7:21] Yes.
[7:21] Yeah.
[7:22] It was nice and easy.
[7:23] Yes.
[7:24] Because we had a bit going on with our first daughter, it was a bit hard.
[7:28] I didn't want to keep renting everywhere and renting.
[7:30] And at that time.
[7:31] You wanted stability.
[7:32] Yeah.
[7:32] And where we were, I lived not far from there.
[7:35] So it's a ghost town, but it's country.
[7:38] It's pretty quiet.
[7:40] And I thought, oh, we'll just buy this one, you know.
[7:43] But, yeah, it needed to renovate and so I'd done all that.
[7:45] So I'm a house-free stumber.
[7:47] I've been doing it for 20 years.
[7:48] I've done my own business for six years now.
[7:50] So I know a little bit about, you know, fixing some stuff up.
[7:53] But it wasn't too much of a money pit but, you know, it was a start.
[7:58] It was a start.
[7:59] We were paying the minimum requirements.
[8:01] It was like $100 a week.
[8:03] And the house was not even expensive like to compare what we had now.
[8:07] Yeah.
[8:08] And it took us longer to pay the old house than what you've done with us.
[8:13] And it was five times cheaper.
[8:14] Yeah.
[8:15] Oh yeah.
[8:15] Yeah.
[8:15] Isn't that nuts when you look at it like that?
[8:18] Yes.
[8:18] Because we'll get into that journey now.
[8:20] So you got your home now that you're in.
[8:22] We came to infinity.
[8:23] You had a home loan of about 545,000.
[8:26] Yes.
[8:26] When you first met us.
[8:27] Yeah.
[8:28] Yeah.
[8:29] And so tell me about when you did find infinity, who found infinity first?
[8:33] What were the thought processes there?
[8:34] What did all that journey look like?
[8:36] Well, Brad was always complaining about, I pay so much tax and I work so hard.
[8:44] This was always in my mind.
[8:48] I need to find a way for Brad and myself to really make the money work for us.
[8:56] And then it started to come up in my feed how you can...
[9:03] We chase investment properties to use as a deduction to decrease your income, tax income.
[9:11] So you're starting to see a lot of stuff like that on social media.
[9:13] Because I admit, I was thinking about tax all the time, you know, because there was no talk and no tragedy.
[9:19] It was just like, oh, good on you, here's your tax.
[9:21] And then obviously complaining about it.
[9:23] I reckon the phones must listen to us because...
[9:25] Because it started popping up.
[9:26] And then it did.
[9:27] It started popping up.
[9:28] It was just like they were pushing it like, oh, yeah, no worries.
[9:31] Here's one here.
[9:31] No worries here.
[9:32] There's a misdirection, you know.
[9:33] Give us 24 hours and sign this, you know.
[9:36] Yeah, it was really pushing.
[9:38] It didn't really explain why we were doing things.
[9:41] They just want to sell us a property.
[9:43] Right.
[9:43] I knew we were in a position to buy a property, but we want to.
[9:47] You want to understand it.
[9:48] Yes.
[9:48] Yes.
[9:49] The process.
[9:50] Yes.
[9:50] Yes.
[9:51] And then we didn't go ahead with that company.
[9:57] And then I came across the both sides podcast.
[10:01] Yeah.
[10:01] Yes.
[10:01] So I start to listen to that and I say.
[10:04] Wow, everything we've been doing has been wrong.
[10:08] So I decided to do the webinar.
[10:10] Yep.
[10:12] And the webinar we've done was, no, I've done it myself, but he's worked away for quite a lot.
[10:21] I work away, sometimes away from home, sometimes away from home to see him.
[10:24] But she was talking to me about it again.
[10:25] Hell, you know, how do you do that?
[10:27] Yeah.
[10:27] And you'd already met with another company and you were probably feeling a bit sad about that.
[10:31] Yeah.
[10:32] I'm thinking, nah, you've got to work harder.
[10:33] You know, I'm thinking, nah, you've got to get another job or a part-time job or something like that.
[10:36] You've got to just make work harder, you know, but when she explained to me and then when we
[10:42] Yeah, so I done the webinar in June.
[10:45] And then we signed up.
[10:46] That was 2024?
[10:46] Yeah.
[10:47] Yep.
[10:47] And then we signed up for the master class.
[10:50] But it was only August that was available.
[10:53] I think GE was in Dubai or something in July.
[10:56] And then we done the master class.
[10:57] Yes, on August.
[11:00] Yeah, it was near your birthday, end of August.
[11:04] And then, yeah, it was fun because G was saying at the end, not at the end, at the beginning that you'll be a pitch sale at the end.
[11:12] And I said to Brett, no, no, no, we're not going to do anything yet.
[11:17] Like just don't do anything.
[11:18] We'll just collect our information.
[11:20] Yeah.
[11:20] But in the middle, we were like, oh my God, I hope they accept us.
[11:25] And because we were ready to sign up because it was exactly what we were looking for.
[11:30] Like that financial literacy that we really need and how to ensure our finances and budgeting.
[11:39] And yes, exactly what we want.
[11:42] Is that what sold you on the MASC class was the structure and the budgeting?
[11:47] And plus the way G was like straightforward and so raw and yeah.
[11:52] Yeah, just shout out there.
[11:55] Here it is.
[11:56] It is what it is, you know.
[11:57] Yeah.
[11:57] So that's just good connection.
[11:59] So you liked his personality.
[12:00] Good vibe.
[12:00] The vibe brought us in for sure.
[12:02] Yeah.
[12:03] Because what did the finances look like before you went through that first day of the masterclass and learning about the budgeting side of things?
[12:11] Did you have a budget?
[12:12] No, not at all.
[12:14] And just.
[12:15] And like, well, everything we're doing was.
[12:19] It could be a better way to do it.
[12:21] Like our old house, we turn into an investment.
[12:24] We kept it.
[12:25] Yeah.
[12:26] Yeah.
[12:27] And we even ask our accountant and broker, like they never give advice.
[12:32] And yeah, like we were weren't sure what we're doing was right.
[12:36] But no one advised us.
[12:38] better.
[12:39] So yeah, so we done that.
[12:43] And
[12:45] What else we done that was wrong?
[12:48] Buy a car.
[12:49] Yeah, buy a car straight away.
[12:50] And we thought like we're doing great because we have cash.
[12:52] Barbecues every weekend.
[12:54] Shouting the meat.
[12:56] I'll get it.
[12:57] Our kids, big birthday parties.
[13:00] Yeah.
[13:01] Christmas.
[13:02] Oh, our family is really happy with us because we would spend a lot.
[13:06] Yeah.
[13:06] Like not just the girls, but like relatives as well.
[13:10] For everyone else.
[13:11] Yes.
[13:11] Yeah.
[13:11] Yeah.
[13:12] So money was just constantly going out.
[13:14] You didn't feel like you had a group of professionals around you that were actually giving advice on a consistent basis.
[13:20] Like you said, you only met your accountant once a year to just reconcile what you'd done throughout the whole year.
[13:25] And then you've got to come up with the money for the tax.
[13:27] Um, whereas we set you up with that whole team.
[13:30] That's going to work with you consistently.
[13:32] Yes.
[13:32] So that's what you were looking for.
[13:34] Yes.
[13:34] And then when we done the rapid repayment,
[13:38] Because I thought we were doing good because I was always like doing extra payments to the loan.
[13:46] Yeah.
[13:47] And according to what we were doing, we would pay off our home loan in 16 years.
[13:53] Yeah, with what you were doing in that moment before us.
[13:56] And you were waiting for us, we were doing good.
[13:58] Yeah, that's great.
[13:59] 16 years, yeah.
[14:00] I was looking like when we first built this house, I was like, here we go, I've got to pay it off for the next 30 years.
[14:06] That's the first thing I said.
[14:07] Yeah, walk a half or 30 years.
[14:09] 30 years, pay this off.
[14:10] And then when I heard 16, I thought, oh, that's all right.
[14:13] And then after that rapid change,
[14:16] We pay.
[14:16] We pay with seven.
[14:17] I'm like, well, here we go.
[14:18] Now we're talking.
[14:21] Yes.
[14:21] So we were really excited about it.
[14:24] Yeah.
[14:24] When we saw that we could pay even quicker than what we were doing.
[14:28] Yeah.
[14:29] Yes.
[14:29] So then you've signed up following that weekend, going through the application process.
[14:33] Talk to me about what your first strategy looked like with your finance strategist.
[14:40] He says straight away we could, yeah, take the money out of the equity of our home loan and invest straight away.
[14:49] And what we were a bit hesitant was it was way more than our home loan is and we were a bit hesitant.
[14:59] So your equity release was more than your home loan So we've got some good equity in the property then that means So you felt a little bit nervous Yes It was scary enough getting the house that we just built And then doing that And then here And buy one that was more than our home loan
[15:15] Then hearing we can do that, I was like, oh, man, it's more.
[15:18] Yes.
[15:18] They haven't even heard of it.
[15:19] They haven't entered them like that up there.
[15:21] Yeah.
[15:23] And at first we always wanted to just purchase a property around our area.
[15:29] Yeah.
[15:30] So we could have control of it, scene build and things like that.
[15:34] And then when he.
[15:36] Don't shit in your backyard.
[15:37] Yeah.
[15:39] It was another thing that we have to learn about that.
[15:43] Learn to become unemotional about our investments and our properties.
[15:46] Yeah.
[15:47] Yeah.
[15:47] And then our first property was in, yeah, up here in Queensland.
[15:51] Yeah.
[15:51] Yeah.
[15:52] Did you think it was possible that you'd be able to invest almost straight away?
[15:56] Oh, no.
[15:58] No, I knew you have conditions to buy an investment property, but not at the amount.
[16:06] Yeah.
[16:07] So that surprised you a bit.
[16:08] Yes, yes.
[16:09] How did you feel comfortable about taking that leap to go ahead and actually say, you know what, we're going to do it?
[16:15] Oh yeah, we didn't think twice.
[16:16] We said, okay, are we just going to sign the papers?
[16:18] It's the trust that we accumulated over the time, you know?
[16:21] Yeah.
[16:22] The connection we had is just straight away.
[16:24] It's just because you guys are experts.
[16:26] So yeah, we just knew that to, yeah.
[16:29] Trust in the company.
[16:31] And yeah.
[16:32] How did we build that trust with you?
[16:34] So trust is a big thing.
[16:35] It's a very big thing, especially when you'd already started to explore other companies and weren't quite satisfied with them.
[16:41] How were we able to actually build that trust with you guys?
[16:44] I think all the knowledge that was shared with us really
[16:50] Gave us the confidence too.
[16:51] You like that we actually took you on the journey.
[16:53] Yes.
[16:54] Brought you into the numbers and all of that.
[16:56] Yes.
[16:56] Yeah.
[16:57] So you got that understanding.
[16:59] Yeah.
[16:59] We used to watch all the podcasts and see all the people and say, wow, how they do that.
[17:04] Yeah, because there's so much information about it within you.
[17:06] So it's like, look at all this proof, you know, look at all these people.
[17:09] All those clients happy.
[17:10] Yeah.
[17:10] And the community and the family.
[17:12] Like even a Facebook family page.
[17:14] Like who does that?
[17:15] Yeah, isn't that cool?
[17:16] You guys are in constant communication with the rest of our clients in that group.
[17:20] Yes.
[17:21] And I was mentioned to Brad a long time ago.
[17:23] How fun is it that we are more open with the community and some people that we not really know.
[17:29] But we're strangers.
[17:30] Yeah.
[17:31] Then our friends, like we don't have this open conversation
[17:36] communication with our friends, sharing our finances.
[17:38] Yeah.
[17:38] And our wins and our, you know.
[17:40] Yeah.
[17:41] Everyone's celebrating you and yes.
[17:43] Yeah.
[17:44] Why do you feel like you can't talk to your family and friends about this kind of stuff?
[17:48] Maybe because just the system, how it's been wide or pushed over generations, it's just gone to them as well and they think there's no other way to do it.
[17:57] You've just got to work hard.
[17:58] Skepticism.
[17:59] Yeah.
[18:00] And obviously I had that thought as well, but since really giving it a crack and following the tragedy, it's just proof that you just, you know.
[18:10] Yeah.
[18:10] It's not about busting more and making more money.
[18:12] It's about reducing what you spend.
[18:14] Use wisely.
[18:15] Yeah, wisely.
[18:16] Yeah.
[18:16] Yeah.
[18:17] Yeah.
[18:18] And what else did we tell you to do in that strategy?
[18:20] First strategy session?
[18:23] And then he just showed the possibility.
[18:25] Sell that dog.
[18:26] Yeah, that's right.
[18:27] Oh yeah.
[18:28] Was this the first thing?
[18:28] A lot of things actually, like things sitting around you're not using.
[18:32] Yeah, really have a think about what you really need and the other stuff is just gone.
[18:36] Yeah.
[18:36] Yeah.
[18:37] So we sold the old investment property which was our owner-occupier.
[18:40] Yes.
[18:41] So we understand now with our owner-occupier, it's our only property we can sell without capital gains tax.
[18:47] Yes.
[18:47] So we sell that and we put that into the new home we want to buy.
[18:50] Yes.
[18:50] So what was the outcome of selling that?
[18:52] What happened then?
[18:54] We just reduced not half but was quite a bit of the home loan.
[18:59] Yeah.
[19:00] Well, actually at REM when the real estate were ringing me at REM going, oh, it was for this price, it's coming up a little bit more.
[19:05] I'm thinking, really?
[19:06] No way.
[19:07] The buyers were fighting over it, you know.
[19:10] And then we sold it while we were at REM.
[19:11] Yes.
[19:13] That's a pretty cool weekend to do.
[19:14] Oh, yeah.
[19:14] So a double celebration.
[19:16] In Lyman.
[19:16] Yes.
[19:16] Yes.
[19:17] Yes.
[19:18] It was really cool.
[19:20] So we thought we had an investment property, but it was actually the old home.
[19:23] And we've been able to replace with a couple more investment properties now.
[19:28] How many do we have now?
[19:29] Three.
[19:30] We have three.
[19:30] Three investors.
[19:31] So we've gone from one, or one as in the old home, but one to three.
[19:35] Yeah.
[19:36] How does that feel?
[19:36] Oh, it's still, it's hit me a little bit, but still, it's still processing it.
[19:40] But it's absolutely crazy to be in a, so I'm still young, like 38, 39.
[19:44] This is lots of years ahead of you, right?
[19:46] That's right.
[19:47] So I still earn money and, yeah.
[19:49] And now we've wired properly now, like to save money, don't spend it, FFF all the way.
[19:55] You already see the future.
[19:56] You already see the forecast of what's going to happen if you stick to the plan.
[19:59] Yeah.
[20:00] And what does our future look like?
[20:03] Oh, less stressful.
[20:04] Yeah.
[20:04] Don't have to chase an extra dollar or not that.
[20:07] It's not chasing.
[20:07] That's the thing.
[20:08] It's saving money.
[20:09] Yeah.
[20:09] It's reducing what you need.
[20:11] Yes.
[20:11] And put it towards something that's going to help you in the future.
[20:14] Yes.
[20:15] So it looks brighter.
[20:16] Oh, he's brighter.
[20:17] Yes.
[20:18] And lighter too.
[20:19] Yeah.
[20:19] And lighter, yes.
[20:20] Not as much stress.
[20:21] Yes.
[20:22] And have we been able to restructure, change the way we manage our business as well?
[20:27] Yeah, well, that's the thing because I work on my own, no employees.
[20:31] But now I don't have to really – I don't have to have two or three employees now to get things done to reach a point, you know.
[20:38] Now I can just do it on my own and take it a little bit easy, still working hard, but just now the mortgage is gone.
[20:44] Yeah.
[20:45] Be more flexible.
[20:45] More flexible.
[20:46] And more present at home.
[20:48] Yeah.
[20:49] When we need.
[20:51] And, yeah, that's right.
[20:52] Yeah.
[20:52] Present.
[20:54] It's just good to know and not waste the money anymore.
[20:57] Like, I don't have to rush for that bill, that next bill.
[21:00] She has to be that next bill.
[21:01] Like, oh, this bill's coming up.
[21:02] Oh, you know, what's going on?
[21:03] Tax man, where are ya?
[21:04] We can actually pay the tax.
[21:05] Yeah, that's right.
[21:06] And not worry about it.
[21:07] Go, oh, yeah, there it is.
[21:07] And then I've still got money left over or whatever, you know, for it.
[21:11] You always have a buffer.
[21:12] So when bills come, we don't really worry about it because we know we have the money that we paid.
[21:18] So, yeah.
[21:19] Which is that's, yeah, absolutely incredible.
[21:21] So when we sold the old investment property, we did take a substantial amount off the home loan.
[21:26] Still had some left though.
[21:27] Yes.
[21:28] But we've actually been able to get rid of it.
[21:30] Yes.
[21:30] The rest of it through budgeting.
[21:32] Yes.
[21:32] And you've done it.
[21:33] Yeah.
[21:33] Done it.
[21:34] I don't know how, honestly.
[21:36] I do the maths and I say, how have we done that?
[21:40] I know.
[21:40] Yeah.
[21:40] But before all this, where would that money go?
[21:43] Yeah.
[21:43] But now, within that timeframe.
[21:46] With the right structure.
[21:47] With the right structure, it's gone.
[21:49] It's done.
[21:49] Yes.
[21:50] Yeah.
[21:50] So we've had debt-free.
[21:51] We're soon to pinch ourselves.
[21:52] Debt-free.
[21:52] We have no more home loan.
[21:53] No.
[21:54] No more home loan.
[21:55] How do you guys celebrate that?
[21:56] Yeah.
[21:57] Well, we really, I don't know, we done, we went to the, there was like a heat wave.
[22:04] Yeah.
[22:04] Oh, yeah, we had 41 degrees for seven days.
[22:06] So we just went to like a resort down the road just getting built, not far.
[22:10] Just had a big pool there.
[22:12] Yeah.
[22:12] So we just hanged out there.
[22:14] Yeah, because we have a newborn, so it was too hard for us to go anywhere.
[22:17] Yeah, with a new baby.
[22:18] Yeah.
[22:19] So we just, yeah, go on then, celebrate with the kids.
[22:23] Yeah.
[22:23] Did we tell the kids that's what we were doing?
[22:25] Yes.
[22:25] We were celebrating.
[22:26] You did.
[22:26] Yeah.
[22:27] Yeah.
[22:27] The kids are, it's been really good actually, all this FFF and all this strategy because now we teach the kids like, you know, we need money for that.
[22:35] We don't have money for this.
[22:36] We can't do this because, you know, we're saving money for this.
[22:38] You know, we don't need it.
[22:39] We don't, do you really need that?
[22:40] You know.
[22:41] And then the kids are like, oh, no, I'd rather go there, you know.
[22:44] Make a memory.
[22:45] Make a memory, yeah.
[22:46] Go to the Caribbean Park.
[22:47] Have experiences and memories over things.
[22:49] Yes.
[22:49] Yeah.
[22:49] Exactly.
[22:51] So they're understanding it.
[22:52] Yeah.
[22:52] Yes, it was funny the other day, my four-year-old daughter, she said to me, now that we paid this home off, can we buy another one?
[22:59] It was so cute.
[23:01] When she said that in a cell, they really understand.
[23:05] They are, right?
[23:06] Because she's already thought, can we get another property and maybe pay that one off?
[23:09] Yeah.
[23:10] So slowly she's starting to pick up on it.
[23:12] Yes.
[23:13] And my older daughter, because like FFF are quite rigid with it.
[23:18] Yeah.
[23:18] So sometimes they want something and I say, sorry, but we don't have that money.
[23:23] The budget's not here.
[23:24] Yeah.
[23:24] So the other day my daughter said, when you have money, can you get this for me for my lunchbox?
[23:30] Yeah.
[23:31] Also, her language is changing.
[23:32] Yes.
[23:33] So she's even delaying that gratification as well now.
[23:36] Yes.
[23:36] So she's on board with mum and dad's journey.
[23:38] Yep, it's reflected to them.
[23:39] Yes.
[23:39] And that's a good mindset to have when you're a little girl, obviously when you grow up too because don't do what I've done and waste my money over the years.
[23:45] Yeah.
[23:46] Don't repeat that cycle.
[23:47] And also like when I do food shopping and things like that, if they want something and I said, I can easily make it home.
[23:55] We just make the most of it and help.
[23:59] They help me make things.
[24:01] The other day, my daughter wants like fruit rolls.
[24:03] And I said, no, I don't need to.
[24:04] You can make them a home.
[24:05] Yeah, we can make them.
[24:06] Yeah, we've got an apricot tree at the back.
[24:07] Yes, we have a heat.
[24:08] Oh, that's so good.
[24:08] Roll them out, put them in the oven and done.
[24:11] Homemade, healthier, cheaper.
[24:13] Much healthier.
[24:14] Yeah, yeah.
[24:15] So they help us as well in this way, like making, that is our weekend, they usually choose what they want to eat for a treat for the lunchbox and we make at home.
[24:27] Yeah, so he's been quite involved with the family all working together.
[24:33] Yeah.
[24:33] But it's been a positive change by the sounds of it.
[24:35] They're really embracing it.
[24:37] Yes, yes.
[24:38] The best thing that's ever happened to us.
[24:39] And they understand when we say no to things because we give them the reason.
[24:44] So no tantrums.
[24:44] Yeah.
[24:45] No, no, they're pretty good.
[24:46] Yeah, never really experienced that with them.
[24:48] We have kids.
[24:49] We've been pretty lucky with that.
[24:50] Yeah.
[24:50] Even when you done, we done the wishing well when took the kids to Kmart.
[24:55] Yeah.
[24:55] Oh, you did the Kmart wishing well.
[24:57] Yeah.
[24:57] They knew they give the, obviously we're not getting any presents.
[25:00] It's for the other kids and they understood that they go, Oh, the kids are going to love this.
[25:04] Yeah.
[25:04] They didn't cry when we put them in the, in a big box, you know, they understood.
[25:09] So give them back, you know?
[25:11] Yeah.
[25:11] So how do you think that's shaping their future, especially when it comes to finances and money?
[25:17] Yeah, I think they're slowly getting to understand, like, the value of money and you help us, help them to avoid the mistakes.
[25:28] Yeah.
[25:29] We made for sure, yeah.
[25:31] Do you think that's given them a bit of a head start?
[25:33] Yeah.
[25:34] Oh, yes.
[25:34] Yes.
[25:35] Yeah.
[25:37] Yeah, 100%.
[25:37] Like they're more active now with us.
[25:40] We're getting outside more and doing yoga and everything.
[25:43] Like we took the screens away from them like just… Wow, that's big.
[25:47] That's for me.
[25:49] Because they were just glued in like before Infinity, you know, like just the PlayStation, got rid of that, Nintendo Switch, got rid of that.
[25:55] Yeah, we just started selling everything.
[25:57] Yeah, that's why we done it because we didn't really need that.
[26:00] We didn't need the kids over there doing that.
[26:02] We never did, but just it's like it's everywhere now, phones and all that.
[26:06] But that's a big thing why they don't have a tantrum on that because we're not getting that easy.
[26:11] Or with stimulation.
[26:12] They're helping cooking.
[26:14] They're outside.
[26:15] I do.
[26:15] I get my daughter to pick up the dog poo with the big claw.
[26:18] Before I move the lawn, I go, come on, pick up the dog poos.
[26:21] So she gets the big claw and puts it in the bucket for me and I'll move the lawn.
[26:25] But they're active.
[26:26] Yeah, they're outside.
[26:27] In the veggie garden, always in the veggie garden.
[26:30] With the chickens.
[26:31] Hands-on kind of stuff, you know.
[26:33] It's really good.
[26:35] And usually we go for a picnic in the park.
[26:39] We make our own like treats and quiches.
[26:46] Yeah.
[26:47] So we think we took that pressure off your shoulders and now we've been more present at home for that as well.
[26:55] So you feel like it's strengthened the family unit?
[26:57] Oh, yes.
[27:19] where you've built almost $100,000 in savings.
[27:22] You've bought investment properties.
[27:24] You're at 2.5 million property portfolio.
[27:27] What else have you done with Infinity?
[27:29] Lost 16 kilos.
[27:31] Yeah.
[27:31] You've had a phenomenal change.
[27:33] All up since the start.
[27:35] So I've done 75 hard.
[27:36] Didn't finish it because I had sleep apnea and all this.
[27:39] But anyway, lost a fair bit of kilos in that.
[27:43] Sorry, day 21 I dropped out, fell asleep in the book.
[27:46] But anyway, but not that.
[27:48] I kept it with me, you know.
[27:49] Yeah.
[27:49] Yeah.
[27:50] I remembered it.
[27:51] I kept it.
[27:52] Don't need that pie.
[27:53] Don't need, obviously, the beers.
[27:54] I don't drink or smoke anymore.
[27:57] So we're saving a lot of money there.
[27:59] I was spending our FFF every week before infinity.
[28:02] That was what I was spending on, like, ciggies, alcohol.
[28:05] And how much is your FFF, just for our listeners?
[28:07] $400.
[28:07] So you have $400 a week just on that.
[28:09] Yeah, with five.
[28:10] I have three kids.
[28:12] Wow.
[28:13] So that is a huge saving every week now that you've completely stopped that all because you took control of your health.
[28:19] That's right.
[28:19] And that was because of infinity.
[28:20] Yep.
[28:21] Do you think you would have done 60 Strong without infinity?
[28:24] We never heard of it.
[28:25] Yeah, we wouldn't.
[28:27] I was trying to get off the alcohol for a while.
[28:28] I was getting like I was just drinking the zero beers.
[28:31] Yeah.
[28:31] Because I had really bad sleep apnea.
[28:34] It was just I had no energy.
[28:35] It was bringing me down.
[28:36] But I needed that energy.
[28:38] That kick, you know, I needed something to follow.
[28:39] I needed a group, some group of family, like pretty much a fitness family to get me through it.
[28:44] Yeah.
[28:45] And we met a lovely couple at REM that talked with Brad about how he quits smoking and...
[28:54] Yeah.
[28:54] Yeah, hypnosis, yeah.
[28:55] And I went and done the hypnotherapy.
[28:56] And it worked for you?
[28:57] I didn't believe it.
[28:58] I was thinking, how can some bloke just sit there with music on and tell me what to do?
[29:01] It was like 30 people there.
[29:04] It did work.
[29:04] What it is, they just say words over and over again and play some nice music.
[29:09] And it gets stuck in your head for a bit, maybe a couple of weeks.
[29:11] Just if you ever think about a cigarette, I do.
[29:14] I was thinking of his voice saying, you know, I am a non-smoker, whatever he says, you know.
[29:20] And it definitely worked.
[29:21] You've still got to have that willpower.
[29:22] You've got to really want to not smoke.
[29:25] Drinking was a bit easier.
[29:27] It was still hard, but, you know, I was thinking, what am I doing, sitting, just knock off work, come home.
[29:32] It's so normal I was in Australia, you know.
[29:33] Of course, yeah.
[29:34] You work hard, you go home, just get on the piss, come on, just do it.
[29:37] I was getting home, first thing I'd go for before coming inside is an esky, get the beer out, sit there, oh, what a day, you know, have a drink, you know.
[29:45] It won't be one or two.
[29:46] Sometimes it's ten, you know what I mean.
[29:49] And I was realising, like, for a while, I'm thinking, what am I doing this for?
[29:53] Like, you know, it's very hard to get out of it.
[29:54] But my kids are in there, my wife's in there.
[29:56] Should be going in there straight away.
[29:57] Like, hey, he's going, you know, have a shower and then spend time with them.
[30:01] But, you know, just because of the stress and everything, the beers were just numbing me out, you know.
[30:07] But since infinity, yeah.
[30:09] So I'm quitting the smoking and then a 75 hard popped up.
[30:12] I'm thinking, oh, here we go.
[30:13] This is, can't drink, can't do this.
[30:14] So many rules.
[30:15] It's good.
[30:16] It's so good.
[30:18] And, you know, it takes a while for it to get in your head and all that.
[30:20] But once it's in there, it's hard to let go of the, just trying to be fit.
[30:24] Like.
[30:24] Yeah.
[30:25] It feels too good.
[30:26] Yeah.
[30:27] It feels a lot better.
[30:27] And you don't want to lose it.
[30:28] No.
[30:28] Yeah.
[30:29] It feels more clearer and so much more energy.
[30:31] Like heaps.
[30:32] Yeah.
[30:34] And what has that done for you?
[30:36] I attempted to serve in fire hard too.
[30:39] At that time, you were mentally not the right place.
[30:45] And when I saw that mental challenge and I said, yes, that's what I really need to do it.
[30:51] And I done, I failed on day 10 because I make my own vanilla extract and there's vodka in it.
[31:00] Oh yeah, in kind of alcohol.
[31:02] Yes, I put my smoothie and I said, oh, I failed.
[31:06] But then I continued on the day after.
[31:09] And I went until 46 days.
[31:12] That's a pretty good achievement.
[31:13] I just gave up because when I found out I was pregnant.
[31:16] And I had a hernia too.
[31:17] So it was too much.
[31:18] And I said, I don't want to put too much stress on my body.
[31:21] Yeah.
[31:22] But it was the best thing I've done.
[31:24] Yes.
[31:25] It was really good.
[31:26] It was exactly what I needed at that time.
[31:28] Yeah.
[31:28] Yes.
[31:29] Yes.
[31:30] And the 60 strong, that was a good one.
[31:32] Done, finished that one.
[31:33] Yeah.
[31:34] But I think it was three weeks in, I had a baby.
[31:37] That you're going to help with, yeah.
[31:38] I'm not sleeping.
[31:39] Yeah.
[31:39] So I've still done it.
[31:40] I think I've done about 500 steps in the hospital, I think I did, to get to me 10,000.
[31:44] So, yeah, still done that.
[31:46] And that's what I mean.
[31:46] That's another, there's some more.
[31:48] Help, you know, more kilos lost and more discipline to keep.
[31:53] And the kids seem to do it.
[31:54] Yeah.
[31:55] So the kids are watching as well.
[31:57] Yeah.
[31:57] Dad's doing push-ups.
[31:58] Dad's going to the gym all the time.
[31:59] Dad's going to boxing or whatever.
[32:00] Like, Dad's always doing something.
[32:01] Dad's not sitting at the back.
[32:03] And every night the girls now, they do their own workout or put on your tube or do yoga.
[32:09] Yeah.
[32:09] They see us and they...
[32:11] They're copying mum and dad.
[32:13] Yes.
[32:13] Yeah.
[32:13] So mum and dad are setting them up to some really good habits.
[32:16] Yes.
[32:17] Yeah.
[32:17] Really happy.
[32:19] Yeah.
[32:20] And how have family and friends reacted to all of this journey?
[32:24] They don't recognise Brad.
[32:25] Yeah.
[32:26] It would be a bit like that, wouldn't it?
[32:28] You gain your mates and you lose them when you change the way you are.
[32:31] Yeah.
[32:32] But it's not about them.
[32:33] It's about yourself and your family.
[32:35] Yeah.
[32:35] Yeah.
[32:35] And the people that do respect it or like it, and they're the ones that you want in your circle.
[32:40] So...
[32:41] Yeah, the ones that want friendship just for the good times and the drinking.
[32:45] They want somebody next to them drinking with them.
[32:47] Yeah.
[32:47] Yeah.
[32:48] They don't have them anymore.
[32:50] Yeah.
[32:51] And has anyone made any comments or said anything about your journey with Infinity?
[32:54] Do you share much about that?
[32:56] We are quite private.
[32:57] If someone asks, we would talk about it.
[33:02] There are some friends of Brad that reach out to know more about Infinity.
[33:06] Yeah, I always tell them the same thing.
[33:08] Watch the webinar.
[33:11] But, yeah, there was a close family.
[33:13] They were a bit sceptical when we talk about infinity.
[33:16] They say, are you sure about that?
[33:18] It's not a scam.
[33:19] I hope you're not getting any wrestling properties.
[33:21] Oh, really?
[33:22] Yeah.
[33:23] What was their thought process with that?
[33:25] What's so scary about that?
[33:27] They reckon the house market will fall.
[33:29] Yeah, drop.
[33:29] Yeah, yeah, the same thing.
[33:30] I said, let's see, I'm not going to say enough anymore.
[33:32] So we don't feel comfortable talking about that because we know we'll be judged.
[33:36] Yeah.
[33:36] Yeah.
[33:36] Yeah.
[33:38] unfortunately so you just shut those conversations down and you're like we're just gonna do us you do no point wasting your energy on it like yeah to explain why we're doing yeah we have our own reasons and we know what how we change our lives and yeah yeah that's what matters yeah yeah yeah that's awesome yeah and what's next for you guys what what else are we hoping to achieve we've already achieved so much what are we hoping is next
[34:08] Oh, look, I don't know.
[34:10] I would love a career change, but I'm not sure because I've been doing the same job for 20 years.
[34:13] Yeah.
[34:13] I've been having my own business for six years.
[34:16] There is work.
[34:16] Like, I fix old houses, you see.
[34:18] Yeah.
[34:18] But it's just very dirty, hard, physical work.
[34:20] Labor, yeah.
[34:22] Hazards, like the asbestos, snakes, spiders, whatever.
[34:26] Massive go-owners sometimes.
[34:28] Kangaroos sometimes under a house.
[34:30] Like, it's a joy.
[34:31] Yeah, it's a bit going on.
[34:33] It's all right.
[34:33] It's just, you know, it's a dying trade.
[34:35] No one wants to do it.
[34:36] It's obviously good money, but...
[34:38] It's not about the money anymore to me.
[34:39] That's what I mean.
[34:40] It's now you... You have choice now.
[34:41] It's learned to structure it properly.
[34:44] Don't spend it on shit.
[34:46] Just have what you really need.
[34:48] And that's just to be healthy, fit, eat all right, and spend time with your family.
[34:52] That's it.
[34:52] That's all you need.
[34:53] Don't eat.
[34:54] Honestly, feel fulfilled.
[34:55] Yeah.
[34:55] Yeah.
[34:56] We're not chasing highs or anything.
[34:58] We just want to...
[35:01] the strategy, work on the background, why we still enjoy our family.
[35:05] Yeah.
[35:06] Yeah.
[35:07] Make the most of now.
[35:10] Because we know that, yeah, we have all this strategy, the portfolio that we're building.
[35:15] So we don't stress too much about the future.
[35:18] Yeah.
[35:18] But we are just...
[35:20] Yeah, living the moment, I would say.
[35:22] Finally, I'll be able to time I can because I'm always, my brain can't switch off, you see, flat out all the time, thinking about my next job, thinking about the next whatever, tax bill or what's going to happen to this, what's going to happen to that.
[35:33] But now it's a bit of a load off my shoulders.
[35:36] I can actually relax and be present with my three kids.
[35:39] Yeah, because sometimes we're there but we're not.
[35:43] We're physically there but not present.
[35:45] Mentally you were somewhere else thinking, stressing.
[35:47] Yes, wondering, oh, I have this bill to pay, I have this and that.
[35:51] And now we're really there for the kids and they can feel the difference.
[35:56] Yeah.
[35:57] That atmosphere in the house changes so much.
[35:59] And sometimes that's all it's about, right?
[36:01] Just being able to finally say the stress is gone and we can live in the moment.
[36:05] Yes.
[36:05] Yeah.
[36:06] So you've been able to achieve that.
[36:07] Oh, yes.
[36:08] And have you been able to take the kids to Brazil to meet your family?
[36:11] Yes.
[36:11] No, my parents came twice already, but we were planning to go to Brazil when COVID hit.
[36:19] And then we haven't had a chance yet to do any trip overseas.
[36:24] Just Brad, he's done like a personal growth.
[36:27] Yeah, on the Bali.
[36:28] Oh, yeah.
[36:29] For a retreat, yeah.
[36:31] But we definitely are planning to spend more, having more trips with the kids and
[36:39] Explode the world.
[36:40] Where you want to go?
[36:41] What's that place?
[36:43] Greece?
[36:43] Greece.
[36:44] My dream is to go.
[36:46] I really would love for my 40s, but I have the baby now, so we have to postpone a bit.
[36:52] Yes.
[36:52] But, yes.
[36:54] But are all these things feeling possible now?
[36:56] Oh, definitely.
[36:57] Yeah.
[36:58] Yes.
[36:59] And the couple, Casey and Lenny, they are very inspirational.
[37:06] Yes.
[37:07] Yeah.
[37:07] Well, they're the same thing in the family and everything is exactly what we want.
[37:12] How you guys feel as well.
[37:13] Yeah.
[37:13] Yeah.
[37:14] Well, you guys can absolutely do it.
[37:16] We're debt free on the home.
[37:18] We've got a good savings buffer, so it's absolutely something you can do.
[37:21] Yes, but sometimes you just feel like, I don't want to spend the money.
[37:25] Yeah, that's right.
[37:26] You get too dedicated to it.
[37:28] We don't need that, do we?
[37:29] We don't need that holiday.
[37:33] But that's the important part of the process too is celebrating those wins that you do have and enjoying that.
[37:39] life as well.
[37:40] Yeah.
[37:40] You know, sometimes it's just about dedicating yourself for a short period of time to then be able to go and do those things without that guilt.
[37:47] Yeah.
[37:47] But yeah, that is definitely something a lot of people like.
[37:49] I had the couple, I was on the podcast before that said they didn't go to our Christmas party for the last two years, even though they could have because they just wanted to keep sticking to the plan, not spending the money.
[37:59] Because we, I mean, we'll give you the tickets, but you've got to make your way to the Gold Coast to come to our party.
[38:03] They haven't come for the last two years.
[38:04] And I said, non-negotiable, you're coming this year.
[38:08] Yeah, we haven't had a chance to go to Christmas party.
[38:10] Oh, no, I've got to bully you into coming down too.
[38:15] Yeah, oh, definitely will be something really special.
[38:19] This year is going to be incredible.
[38:21] Yeah.
[38:22] And what would you say to anyone who's listening that's maybe found, just found Infinity and is wondering if they should join?
[38:28] What would you say to them?
[38:29] Well, it's funny you say that because I was in the elevator today at the motel.
[38:33] Yeah.
[38:33] I had your Affinity shirt on.
[38:34] And the bloke in there goes, oh, what are they like?
[38:37] Oh, Affinity?
[38:37] Oh, mate, they're the best.
[38:38] He goes, you reckon you watched the webinar last week?
[38:40] Yeah.
[38:41] I said, mate, just do it.
[38:42] Just join it now.
[38:43] He's probably going home now.
[38:45] Join it.
[38:45] To join the masterclass.
[38:46] Yep, join the masterclass.
[38:48] Yeah.
[38:49] I would say anyone out there would love a life transformation.
[38:53] Yeah.
[38:54] Join it.
[38:54] It's everything.
[38:55] Health, financial, literacy.
[39:00] You have a good family.
[39:01] Yeah.
[39:02] It's the whole package.
[39:03] Whole package, for sure.
[39:04] Not only financial but every aspect of our life.
[39:07] The community, our events.
[39:08] Were you surprised we did all that?
[39:11] Yeah, I was.
[39:11] Oh, I couldn't believe it.
[39:12] I remember when we went to REM, we didn't know what to expect because we were just one month in and we went to REM and I was like, wow.
[39:20] We was getting in a lot of trouble at the moment because I've had a few podcasts and they were saying we went after a month.
[39:25] Yeah.
[39:26] Yeah, I was surprised when they messaged us saying if you want to participate, join the Ramon ensemble.
[39:32] We just.
[39:32] Yeah, we just got here.
[39:33] Yeah.
[39:35] Yeah, but we were on the boat cruise and we were like, is that a dream?
[39:41] Yeah, I was waiting for me to alarm to go off.
[39:43] This can't be real.
[39:44] I can't be floating down this river.
[39:45] Yeah, it was like unreal.
[39:47] Yes, yes.
[39:48] Well, you guys have an absolutely incredible journey.
[39:51] We appreciate you so much for coming on to share it.
[39:53] It's definitely going to help some other people.
[39:55] I hope so.
[39:55] So thank you for being here today.
[39:57] Thank you so much.
[39:58] No worries.
[39:59] You're fucking gone.
[40:00] See ya.
