In this powerful Part 2 of the Changing Lives series, Graeme Holm reconnects with Christine and Geoff to dive into what’s changed since their first steps with Infinity in August 2023. Back then, they were drowning in a $540K mortgage, holding onto toys and justifying overspending with a “you need to live” mindset shaped by past trauma. Fast-forward to now, they’ve sold the boat, the caravan, the motorbikes, even their first investment property. They’re now completely free of bad debt, own five new investment properties, and made the bold move to the Gold Coast. Christine even joined the Infinity team. It’s more than a transformation, it’s a total reinvention. Don’t miss this follow-up story that proves how quickly life can shift when you’ve got the right guidance, the right mindset, and the courage to act.

[0:00] Money isn't rude of all evil, the fucking lack of it is.
[0:02] Not money, the lack of understanding money.
[0:05] When I put that into emphasis, when I realised our psychological effect and how it hit our family, I FDB in the fucking way.

[0:22] Welcome back to another episode of The Money Mentor in the Changing Lives Financially series.
[0:27] This is part two.
[0:29] If you go back to around the 6th of March, letting go of the past, we had the lovely Christine and the very handsome Jeff.
[0:37] He's looking very GC and Daphne today, by the way.
[0:41] Did he dress himself?
[0:42] Yes, he did.
[0:43] Right?
[0:43] I've got to get some fashion tips.
[0:45] Jeez.
[0:46] He's really embracing the Gold Coast lifestyle now.
[0:49] Way too much.
[0:50] I don't have to up my fashion game.
[0:52] Couldn't wear white jeans in Canberra, so he's busting them out.
[0:55] Jeez.
[0:56] Welcome back.
[0:57] Thank you.
[0:57] Now, a lot's changed since March.
[1:02] So if we go back when maybe just for people that haven't seen the prior episode and they're new to the community, new to the YouTube podcast series, we might give a bit of a quick overview because then they go, oh, hang on, stop, press stop, go back to March and then come back.
[1:18] So I might start this part too with a recap of who you are, what's happened in the background.
[1:23] for five minutes or so then people might want to stop and go back to the 6th of March letting go of the past one that will give them context then come back to what we touch on that's different today so maybe we start with who we are where we were okay and and how we found infinity etc then I think people should press stop if they haven't heard the March one and go back to that and then we'll continue on.
[1:48] You want to give us some background?
[1:50] Yeah, so Jeff and I have been together, I don't know how many years now, probably six or so, six and a half years ago.
[2:03] When we first came together...
[2:06] There was, oh, I think we've only been dating a couple of weeks and Jeff had a major motorbike accident which was life-changing for him.
[2:15] I don't want to tell your story but pretty much it was fairly traumatic.
[2:20] It really impacted our lives in the way we looked at money.
[2:24] We were living day-to-day and in the moment and really weren't looking at the future.
[2:29] We were living in the moment because of what happened to him.
[2:33] And it wasn't until after Jeff recovered a little bit that we started putting our mind towards, well, how are we going to plan for our future?
[2:41] How are we going to sort out our retirement and so forth?
[2:44] And we knew we needed to do something better than what we were currently doing.
[2:48] And so Jeff was doing his own research, looking at all sorts of different scams and schemes and things, weren't you?
[2:53] I was.
[2:54] You were.
[2:55] And then, you know, you popped up in our socials.
[2:57] Right.
[2:58] So that's how we found Infinity, did the webinar, masterclass and so forth.
[3:03] And, yeah, that's how we kicked off.
[3:06] And to give context, I suggest in a couple of minutes of background, people go back to the 6th of March and listen to Christine and Jeff's first podcast.
[3:15] But it wasn't just a little accident that affected how you thought about money, how you viewed life.
[3:20] I mean, technically, mate, you died a couple of times.
[3:23] Yeah, I died twice, bleed out three times, broke eight bones in my back, I think it was.
[3:30] Yeah, and more injuries.
[3:31] So I've got no excuses about not going to the gym because you look this fucking buff and you've got all sorts of pins and rods and this.
[3:38] Anyway, but you come out looking all right, by the way.
[3:40] They might have done some improvements.
[3:41] It might have been some plastic surgery.
[3:44] It was horrific.
[3:45] Yeah, it was.
[3:47] You'd lost him.
[3:47] He was gone multiple times.
[3:49] Yeah, it was 3% chance of survival.
[3:52] So you were gone.
[3:53] You were dead, literally.
[3:56] And it was a long road of recovery.
[3:58] It was a very traumatic experience to go through.
[4:02] You don't remember any of it.
[4:04] I think that's probably a good thing.
[4:05] Yeah.
[4:06] Yeah, 100%.
[4:07] Yeah.
[4:07] That's a protection mechanism for sure.
[4:09] For sure.
[4:11] from from all of that recurrence talked about back in march people can go listen and it's called letting go of the past uh that that's pretty deep that episode but to move forward so anyone who hasn't heard that go watch that and then come back to this episode please uh it'll give context but from that moment on from from recovery onwards to you know you're technically dead you're gone your life's over survive thankfully lots of rehab lots of recovery lots of
[4:37] But let's just skip forward then to normality.
[4:40] So long recovery, a lot of healing, a lot of, you know, learn to walk, all sorts of things again.
[4:46] Life took a different spin because you guys are like, well, fuck, it could be gone tomorrow, right?
[4:50] Correct.
[4:51] So let's talk to people tuning in for the first time even about that now, about like most people, but you really had a genuine, when we met, you really had a genuine reason to live for the moment.
[5:02] Yeah.
[5:03] True?
[5:04] 100%.
[5:05] Almost a narrative.
[5:08] It was almost like a motto or a creed, right?
[5:11] Get the boat, get the car, get the van, get the bike, go here.
[5:14] It was almost a, we're living.
[5:17] Exactly.
[5:18] It really was a matter of you don't know when something terrible could happen, which is outside of your control.
[5:25] And so what is the point of squirreling away money and so forth for your future that you may not have?
[5:31] So there were a couple of years there where we literally just did whatever we wanted and spent what we wanted and did not have a plan or any structure for the future.
[5:45] So what was the trigger?
[5:47] Obviously, so we're looking at a few things popped up on socials.
[5:50] And we're talking, where's the trigger in there to make that change button?
[5:55] It's probably when you were able to go back to work and we thought, okay, there's definitely going to be a future for you and us.
[6:05] We need to think about how we're going to provide for that.
[6:07] So, Jeff's a panel beater, so physical work.
[6:12] There's no way he's going to be able to work till 65 or something until you can get to your superannuation and so forth.
[6:18] So...
[6:19] We needed to think about how we're going to set ourselves up so that when your body has had enough, that we have enough income between what I can bring in and whatever other assets that we bring together that will be able to support us until we can access our superannuation.
[6:34] So that was part of it.
[6:35] But also we were three years into a brand new 30-year mortgage.
[6:39] And there's $540,000 outstanding on it.
[6:43] um we were you know just ticked over into our 50s how on earth are we going to get ourselves into the right position to have those options down the line and to be able to give him the opportunity to stop work okay yeah and so you guys found us in mid late 23
[7:00] Yeah, it was around, we did a masterclass in August, 23.
[7:03] Yep.
[7:04] Okay.
[7:05] And then first REM was October-ish, November-ish, 23?
[7:09] Yeah.
[7:09] Okay.
[7:10] So back then we had home?
[7:12] Yes.
[7:13] $540,000 mortgage.
[7:15] Anything else or just toys?
[7:16] Yes.
[7:18] We had one investment property in WA.
[7:21] Okay, yeah.
[7:21] Yeah, and we got that through a buyer's agent.
[7:25] We knew we needed to do something different.
[7:26] So we just, we didn't know who to go to.
[7:29] We tried to do it ourselves.
[7:30] You know, we thought, okay, we need to get into property.
[7:32] So we found a buyer's agent.
[7:33] They put us into a property there.
[7:35] That, and then lots of toys, you know, motorbikes, caravan, boats, cars, lots of cars.
[7:42] Okay.
[7:45] We were living it up.
[7:46] Okay.
[7:47] Pretty much we're living it up.
[7:47] So that's late 23.
[7:48] Yes.
[7:50] A home in Canberra, investment property in WA, lots of toys, and a $540,000 mortgage.
[7:56] Yes.
[7:56] Then what?
[7:59] So then we went to our first masterclass and we came away with three?
[8:04] Three properties.
[8:05] Three properties.
[8:06] Oh, from REM, sorry.
[8:07] From REM.
[8:07] Sorry.
[8:08] Yep, from REM.
[8:09] Came away with, yeah, three properties and a plan.
[8:12] Okay.
[8:13] And the plan involved offloading those toys, most of them.
[8:18] We kept one.
[8:18] Yeah.
[8:19] And selling, holding the investment property for one more year.
[8:22] We needed one more year in the market there.
[8:24] Okay.
[8:24] Okay, so hadn't quite done its thing.
[8:26] Hadn't done its thing, hadn't had it long enough.
[8:28] Okay.
[8:30] So we started that process.
[8:32] So there was about, you know, 12 months or so selling things.
[8:37] Some of them were really hard to let go of too.
[8:40] There was some emotional attachment to some of those things that we sold.
[8:43] So you know, it took us a while to kind of work through that.
[8:47] So we sold them, put money onto our mortgage, sold the investment property, and then we paid out our home loan.
[8:54] We paid out our home loan in 15 months after we joined.
[8:59] Sounds very boring.
[9:00] It was shocking.
[9:01] It was amazing.
[9:03] It was amazing.
[9:04] So how long was that, that period?
[9:05] 15 months.
[9:06] 15 months.
[9:07] From August 23 to...
[9:08] But no toys now?
[9:09] No.
[9:11] No toys.
[9:13] We made the decision to do whatever we could to set ourselves up for a better future.
[9:20] Yes.
[9:21] And if we sacrificed whatever was required.
[9:24] Yes.
[9:24] Okay.
[9:26] So, homes paid off in full, but no toys.
[9:28] Three new investments.
[9:30] And then full disclosure, you guys are in Canberra.
[9:34] And in a very, very, in a, I'll say like a CFO role, really?
[9:38] Yeah, COO.
[9:40] COO, Chief Operating Officer, Chief Financial.
[9:43] Both of those together, yeah.
[9:44] Yeah, like a financial, running the finance as an operation.
[9:46] Yes, and operations.
[9:47] Of a private...
[9:48] Private school.
[9:49] School, yeah.
[9:50] Penal beating.
[9:51] Okay.
[9:51] Okay.
[9:52] And then you ended up quitting jobs?
[9:56] Yes.
[9:57] Okay.
[9:59] And you ended up getting new jobs?
[10:01] We got new jobs.
[10:02] In fact, I changed my career.
[10:04] Okay.
[10:05] Still penalty beating, Geoff?
[10:06] Still penalty beating.
[10:07] How long did it take you to get a new job?
[10:08] Oh.
[10:10] Instantly.
[10:11] Two phone calls.
[10:12] Two phone calls?
[10:12] Two phone calls.
[10:13] Better paying, worse paying?
[10:15] Better paying.
[10:15] Good people?
[10:16] Good people.
[10:17] Awesome people.
[10:18] Okay, good.
[10:20] And new job?
[10:21] New job.
[10:22] What do you do now?
[10:23] Well, gee, I'm a wealth strategist at Infinity.
[10:27] Yes, a full transparency.
[10:28] You work in a good product of the product.
[10:31] Yes.
[10:32] So you guys literally...
[10:35] Picked up your life, sold your debt-free home in Canberra, had a couple of investments, relocated to Queensland because we've got head office here on the Gold Coast, Sydney, Melbourne, everything, but came up here and took a job with your background in accounting, finance and stuff.
[10:50] And Jeff's new company, great people, pays a bit better, happy days.
[10:55] fucking looking very gc today and say oh you're too smart put him on a catwalk and took on a role we offered you a role so you guys have done everything we ever asked of you yeah you've been through a hell of a lot in your life yeah but you've done everything we've ever asked you you can see the results you're sticking to it you're adhering to it and with the background i think you'd be really
[11:17] really well suited being through the process and your corporate background to actually help other clients understand how to do this so you've been here now coming up to six months now six months yeah how are you finding it
[11:32] I love it.
[11:32] Love it?
[11:33] I love it.
[11:34] And like, yeah, you would see the difference in me when I'm coming home and having days where I've had the most amazing conversations with clients, helping them do what we've done.
[11:52] It's not work.
[11:53] It's not.
[11:53] It's not work.
[11:54] I mean, sometimes it is when you're doing 20-hour days or 16-hour days.
[11:57] Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[11:58] Yeah, there can be really big days.
[11:59] But it's very fulfilling.
[12:01] It is so fulfilling.
[12:02] It is the most fulfilling thing I've ever done.
[12:07] We honestly can't believe that we're living what our dream was.
[12:13] I remember talking to you and describing what we wanted in our future, and we are literally doing that.
[12:19] And what did you describe?
[12:20] Yeah.
[12:20] I remember the meeting.
[12:23] We described living near water or views of the water.
[12:27] Views of the water.
[12:28] Wasn't it?
[12:29] Views of the water.
[12:30] Being around good people, doing work that was fulfilling and made a difference, and that we had a life that had no mediocrity in it, wasn't it?
[12:41] That was our kind of motto, no mediocrity.
[12:44] Be around good people.
[12:45] Be around good people.
[12:46] So we could have stayed safe and small and stayed in Canberra and had just paid off our home and that was that and just kind of tick along and that would have been fine.
[12:57] But we grabbed everything that infinity has offered us with both hands and fully immersed ourselves in every opportunity that has come our way and facing this fear around that, letting go of what you know and what you're comfortable and familiar with.
[13:15] But we just thought, what have we got to lose?
[13:18] Let's just have a go.
[13:20] It just felt right.
[13:21] We were compelled.
[13:23] And, yeah, when I'm describing our story to clients, I almost have an out-of-body experience where I can hear myself describing it and I think, I cannot believe that was us, that we actually did that.
[13:35] We did it.
[13:36] Has she changed a little bit?
[13:38] Oh, yeah, 100%.
[13:39] You're going to do a sparkle in his eye then.
[13:41] You two are too cute.
[13:43] What's changed?
[13:44] I get emotional even watching it.
[13:46] Our relationship.
[13:47] Yeah.
[13:49] The stress...
[13:50] So it's not go to work, come home, exhausted.
[13:54] It's different, obviously, clearly.
[13:55] Yeah, different.
[13:56] I mean, I can see you up and walking the dog and along the broad water, and it's very different up here.
[14:01] It's so different.
[14:05] The lack of stress knowing that your future
[14:08] is in a really good position, that you have a plan, that worry has gone and we're very much focused on making the most of every day.
[14:18] So you know that living in the moment thing that we were trying to achieve early on?
[14:22] We're doing that still.
[14:24] So you're still living in the moment, you're going to the cafe for breakfast and spending time together or doing...
[14:29] So you're still living in the moment in a different...
[14:33] conceptualize our context right yes it's now with more purpose right and with a framework around it right so that we can feel like um we're making the most of every day that we're blessed to have so i've got to i'm dying to be i've been waiting the whole all right ask this but i just want to i don't know what's the toy that we kept
[14:58] Oh, Skyline.
[14:59] Hey, what year is it?
[15:01] It's a 96.
[15:01] 1996 Skyline, okay.
[15:04] But do you know what?
[15:05] During the week, Jeff actually put that up for sale.
[15:08] Yeah, I did.
[15:09] What?
[15:09] Yeah.
[15:10] Why?
[15:11] And then I said to him, you don't need to sell that.
[15:14] We're on the pathway.
[15:15] We have a plan.
[15:16] Are you going to sell it?
[15:18] I was going to.
[15:18] He's taking it down.
[15:20] He's taking it off.
[15:21] The plane would have been ringing hot.
[15:23] I couldn't do it.
[15:25] Have you done it up?
[15:26] Or is it still original?
[15:27] No, no.
[15:28] No, I've done it up.
[15:28] Yeah, a lot of mods.
[15:30] Okay.
[15:31] It's still in Canberra.
[15:32] So one of our future goals is to find a home for the Skyline on the GC.
[15:37] Yeah.
[15:39] There's actually proper secure storage up here for cars like that.
[15:42] Uh-huh.
[15:43] Okay.
[15:43] I'll give you some details where it's like camera, everything, security.
[15:47] So you can actually store it up here and then you can go and drive it on the weekend and enjoy it and all that sort of stuff.
[15:51] And it's only around the corner.
[15:53] Yeah, okay.
[15:54] That would be good.
[15:54] We have to get it up here because... Yeah.
[15:56] Then you can actually enjoy it.
[15:57] It's not just sort of, you know what I mean?
[15:59] You can go and clean it, you can run it, all that sort of stuff.
[16:02] Yeah.
[16:03] So, okay, kept the sky.
[16:04] Wasn't it true?
[16:05] He was, it was the Skyliner kept.
[16:07] Okay.
[16:08] That was it.
[16:08] Why were you thinking of selling it?
[16:11] Um, just to help us out a little bit.
[16:13] Like, more money in the bank again.
[16:14] Yeah, cash money, right?
[16:15] Yeah, cash money.
[16:16] What's it worth?
[16:17] Oh, must be 40, 40, 48, 60.
[16:22] 50 to 60, 40, depending on the buyer.
[16:25] Yeah, 50 to 60, yeah.
[16:28] You're replaceable, but you've got no debt.
[16:32] So how many investment properties have we got today?
[16:36] Five we have.
[16:38] Five investments on the water on the Gold Coast.
[16:41] Obviously, we're renting on the water on the Gold Coast because we're about to buy the new home.
[16:46] It's about to be finished.
[16:47] But I don't know if the new home is the new home.
[16:49] Oh.
[16:50] Yeah.
[16:54] I love your surprises.
[16:56] I'm really good surprises.
[16:57] Are we maybe not moving there?
[16:59] I don't know.
[17:00] Okay.
[17:00] I just have some thoughts around maybe like a waterfront property on the Gold Coast on the river somewhere like Broad Beach Waters or Mermaid Waters or somewhere.
[17:13] Maybe something like that with the garage for the car and the cars and everything can have your coffee on the river and the pool and all that.
[17:21] It's like very, very Gold Coast, right?
[17:23] And maybe some of these other transactions are just investments.
[17:28] That sounds pretty cool.
[17:30] Did we last weekend?
[17:32] We're still exploring.
[17:34] We've only been on the coast coming up to six months.
[17:36] We're still exploring.
[17:37] You've got to find your restaurants and cafes and areas.
[17:43] But we actually started just thinking, let's just go to different open homes or display suites just to get a feel for what the different neighbourhoods are for our future.
[17:53] Eventually we know that...
[17:54] Different cafes, different restaurants, try it all.
[17:56] Yeah, just try it on different things.
[17:57] But we know at the moment we're on a pathway to an end position and we will do whatever is laid out in front of us to achieve that.
[18:07] But it's just that exploring, you know, what could the future potentially look like?
[18:11] And I can say that our home on the water... Well, it doesn't have to be on the water, but I just... Or in the, you know, in the... Yeah.
[18:20] I love putting it out there.
[18:21] Yeah.
[18:21] Somewhere for the skyline to fit.
[18:23] I'm liking what you're putting out there.
[18:24] You know what I'm putting out?
[18:26] So we'll have to do part three soon.
[18:28] Yeah, yeah, okay.
[18:29] But in terms of five investment properties at the moment, still kept the skyline, about to potentially moving into one of them that's going to finish shortly as a home non-investment, but that may change.
[18:40] Yeah.
[18:41] I think it will.
[18:43] Where to from here?
[18:44] What's the overall plan?
[18:49] So we've been chatting about that.
[18:51] Do you want to answer?
[18:52] We've just been looking at real estate, looking around at what's about and just getting the feelers out there.
[19:03] As a home?
[19:04] Yeah.
[19:05] As the end, you know, for the end.
[19:08] I might have known that was going to happen once you were here for a while.
[19:12] Yeah, you might have.
[19:14] Because it's the natural, organic thing.
[19:15] You knew before, we knew.
[19:17] It's only 25 years of doing this, right?
[19:19] I know.
[19:21] Why am I surprised?
[19:22] Just little things like you were saying, you know, in our ultimate home, what are the sorts of things we want?
[19:27] We've just been keeping a little mental checklist.
[19:29] Yeah, and you might want the garage and the gym and the pool.
[19:32] Yeah, that's it.
[19:33] A walk-in robe would be nice.
[19:35] Yeah, you know, those sorts of things.
[19:37] The sauna.
[19:37] Yeah, the sauna.
[19:39] Every night in my sauna.
[19:40] I love it.
[19:41] Yeah, I wouldn't function without it.
[19:43] Yeah.
[19:43] That's my only zen time.
[19:45] He's up at the sauna all the time.
[19:46] But you've got to get a sauna hat.
[19:48] Yeah.
[19:48] Oh.
[19:49] Yeah, because your brain is the first thing that cooks in a sauna.
[19:53] Oh.
[19:53] Jesse Itzler, if you look it up, there's a couple of companies that can have sauna hats.
[19:57] Right.
[19:57] And you can sit in there much longer.
[19:59] Much longer.
[19:59] And it protects your brain.
[20:00] Yeah, okay.
[20:00] It protects your bucket.
[20:01] Didn't know that.
[20:02] Yeah.
[20:03] Oh, that's it.
[20:03] It's like a cooling hat.
[20:05] They look hilarious.
[20:06] I bet.
[20:06] I haven't seen any of your posts up with your hats on.
[20:09] I never post a hat.
[20:10] I'll post one for everyone listening.
[20:11] It's like a big teabag or something or a bell.
[20:15] But you've got to get a sauna hat.
[20:16] Yeah.
[20:17] Stay in there longer.
[20:18] Yeah.
[20:18] So, I mean, the ability to have those sorts of things in the comfort of your own home that's clean and safe and you don't have to, you know, time is money, time is valuable.
[20:27] Yeah.
[20:28] To be able to do that at home, it's amazing.
[20:30] So, yeah, that sort of thing.
[20:32] So, I think we need to review the strategy.
[20:35] Okay.
[20:35] Now that you are looking and getting a feel.
[20:39] You know, Bec and I recently went, okay, we're going to, because beneath where you are now, it's probably the best Japanese restaurant on the Gold Coast.
[20:45] It is sensational.
[20:46] You can't even get a booking, right?
[20:47] No, we, yeah.
[20:48] Like it is.
[20:49] And if anyone's wondering, it's 180.
[20:50] 180.
[20:51] It's called 180, 180 Marine Parade.
[20:52] Yeah, yeah.
[20:52] Yeah.
[20:54] on the Gold Coast.
[20:55] And it's impossible to get a booking.
[20:56] It's the best on the coast.
[20:57] It is amazing.
[20:58] But we've been, because it's so hard to get a booking, we've been recently trying all the other ones.
[21:03] We found one the other night just down the road from our house.
[21:06] Aha.
[21:06] In Mermaid.
[21:07] Aha.
[21:08] Really good.
[21:09] Only four people in there on a Wednesday.
[21:11] I'm like, this is great.
[21:12] Yeah.
[21:12] And then we're like, oh, we'll try another one.
[21:15] So we've been bouncing around trying all these different Japanese restaurants.
[21:19] You know?
[21:20] So it's, and also the cafe test.
[21:23] That's, yeah.
[21:24] Where you go to different cafes in different, down the coast, up the coast, inland a bit.
[21:28] Yeah.
[21:28] What's it like?
[21:29] Are the people friendly?
[21:30] Are they walking their dog?
[21:31] You know, all that sort of stuff.
[21:32] That's exactly what we've been doing.
[21:34] And walking, you know, on different footpaths on different beaches.
[21:38] Yeah, yep.
[21:39] Just going out and having a look at, you know, what's the beach like here?
[21:42] You know, what are the people like?
[21:43] You know, we were down at Palm Beach last weekend checking out a few cafes down there, looking at the restaurants and bars and whatever, and just sussing out the different locations because we don't know them.
[21:54] Yeah.
[21:55] So, yeah, and outside of that, really, it's...
[21:59] Building a new network here.
[22:01] We've left behind family and friends in Canberra.
[22:04] That was hard.
[22:05] So just rebuilding our networks.
[22:07] And then bring them up here.
[22:09] Bring them up here.
[22:10] Yeah.
[22:10] We're trying.
[22:13] We're trying.
[22:13] Even just for the weekend, not to live, but they might like it.
[22:16] Yeah.
[22:16] Well, part of the problem, hasn't it, been that we haven't had a weekend to really do too much looking around because they're all coming up and visiting.
[22:24] All the family's been coming up.
[22:26] Even better.
[22:26] There you go.
[22:28] So, I think that we should review this strategy to get to a part three.
[22:32] Okay.
[22:33] I'm not going to ask you if you've got... Well, you can ask me any questions if you've got questions for me today.
[22:37] But I think we need to do a part three.
[22:39] And I think today is just a bit of a refresh for people to hear part of the journey that people that have been advised, that have been clients for a few years...
[22:49] then actually become team members, which is a lot of our team, because there's proof in the pudding.
[22:54] So who's better to teach someone to do what we do than someone who's actually already done it?
[22:58] And I think that's really important.
[23:01] But I'm glad the skyline didn't sell.
[23:03] That would have been horrific.
[23:04] But I think next steps here are to now edit the strategy because I'm hearing that we're thinking about some... And this is the really important conversation I have for people that just because you have a plan or a strategy, it doesn't mean that it can't evolve.
[23:19] Exactly.
[23:20] Exactly.
[23:21] Because you never know how something's going to go until you start executing it.
[23:25] And then as you execute it, it might go left, it might go right, it might go uphill, it might go downhill.
[23:30] For all intensive purposes, we're going uphill.
[23:33] Sorry, I'd say downhill.
[23:34] We're cruising.
[23:34] Yeah.
[23:35] But the trajectory, we're growing, which is great.
[23:37] Yeah.
[23:38] But I think now it sounds like, and I was waiting, that's why this was a good conversation today, to go, okay, we've got a bit of a feel.
[23:45] Are we going to run back to Canberra?
[23:47] Are we going to stay here?
[23:48] Do we like it?
[23:49] Are we starting to meet some people, get some relationships, friendship?
[23:53] Do we like some of the areas?
[23:54] That seems to be organically happening, which is good to hear.
[23:58] So I think we need to edit the strategy now to look at where home may be and what home may look like in that list and to start exploring that and to change some of the investment transactions to be able to fund the home.
[24:13] To get there.
[24:14] That sounds awesome.
[24:15] We definitely love it here.
[24:19] I'm loving my work.
[24:21] Jeff loves his work.
[24:23] This is very much our future.
[24:25] I've got to ask a question.
[24:27] Are Queensland or Canberra drivers worse?
[24:30] You're in Smash Repair, right?
[24:33] Because I say most Queensland drivers take two hours to watch 60 minutes.
[24:37] They slow down to merge.
[24:39] I come from Sydney where it's like, you're aggressive and you've got to rip in it.
[24:44] But like here, you go up the motorway, people slow down to merge, and this is four lane highway, and the Queenslanders drive in the left two lanes.
[24:52] I'm like, get out of the lanes to let people
[24:54] Merge.
[24:55] Everyone's Sunday driving around.
[24:57] He frustrates that.
[24:58] Hell out of me.
[24:59] No one's in a hurry in Queensland, right?
[25:02] I'm proudly a Queenslander.
[25:04] I've been in Canberra 20 odd years and I have to say I've come back to some terrible drivers up here.
[25:09] It's bad, isn't it?
[25:11] There's four lanes.
[25:12] It's bad.
[25:13] I'm like, get over.
[25:13] Yeah, it's like, come on, people.
[25:15] Well, your coal shuts at six o'clock too.
[25:18] Yeah, that's true.
[25:19] They say, I can't get my head around that.
[25:20] It's like, what?
[25:20] What do you mean?
[25:21] Because your mic is closed.
[25:23] And the restaurant.
[25:23] Yeah.
[25:25] Anyway.
[25:25] So, any questions for me today?
[25:27] Because I think this is a really good refresher for everyone to go back and watch the one on the 6th of March, Letting Go of the Past.
[25:34] to get from where we were to where we are today to where I think just in the next couple of months, even, not even maybe, we're about to see a complete overhaul.
[25:46] Love that.
[25:47] Complete entire overhaul that you probably wouldn't have even imagined on a whiteboard eight months ago.
[25:52] Definitely not.
[25:54] We didn't imagine what we're living.
[25:57] We still can't believe the last whiteboard that we're living now.
[25:59] It's fun, right?
[26:00] Yeah, it is.
[26:02] But we know that the whiteboard outcome, this is what I say to people too, don't limit what you think is possible.
[26:10] Really open your mind to anything really is possible.
[26:15] Don't limit yourself because you just don't know what can be.
[26:19] And we know that because we're living and breathing it right now.
[26:22] yeah yeah thank you so much pleasure so we're going to do another one okay we're going to please everyone that's heard this was just this little refresher today of the journey of client to staff team member to then fully evolve and we'll get some slides and everything in the next one or the digital whiteboard and map it out because it's going to be why i already know
[26:43] It's going to be wild.
[26:45] Wild.
[26:46] I'm so impatient.
[26:47] I have to be patient.
[26:51] Everything good coming, worth coming, takes time.
[26:54] Takes time.
[26:55] But it's going to be cool.
[26:56] It's going to be super cool.
[26:57] I think you're going to be really happy.
[26:59] You just got to pick the property.
[27:01] But this is going to be a cool story, I think, in the very, very next couple of months.
[27:06] It's so exciting.
[27:07] So I look forward to it.
[27:09] Yeah.
[27:10] And I appreciate you guys being so raw and honest in the previous session and this session.
[27:14] I know a lot of your clients will see this and family and friends.
[27:17] But, yeah, like I said, be patient, trust the process, listen to the advice.
[27:22] It's up to them to execute or not.
[27:24] Yeah.
[27:24] But even everyone's, I've got mentors, I've got people that teach me.
[27:28] We're all learning every day.
[27:30] Let the expert fix the car.
[27:31] Let the expert do the loan.
[27:34] Just get that team of experts around you.
[27:36] If someone's tuning into this and they don't work with us, get a team of experts, not a team of fucking half-arses.
[27:42] A hundred percent.
[27:44] I looked at those stats the other day, like 22,000 brokers and only 10,000 write more than 50 million a year.
[27:50] Yeah.
[27:51] Less than 10% of the industry.
[27:53] That means 90% chance the person you speak to is lucky to do a loan a week.
[27:58] Yeah.
[27:58] That's wild.
[27:59] Absolutely shocking.
[27:59] Unless they're in a regional area.
[28:01] Yeah.
[28:02] That's wild.
[28:03] Yeah.
[28:03] We appreciate you guys sharing and being so raw and honest.
[28:06] Stay tuned.
[28:07] I know Christine dying to know what's going on right now.
[28:10] Jeff's just like, as long as I keep the skyline.
[28:14] And it's got a shed.
[28:15] And it's going to go right.
[28:16] It's going to go right.
[28:17] Such easy go.
[28:18] Thank God you didn't sell it.
[28:20] It might have a home shortly.
[28:21] It might have a home.
[28:22] Well done, guys.
[28:23] Appreciate it.
[28:23] Thank you so much, Gene.
[28:24] Thank you for everything that you and Ben have done.
[28:27] It's good to see how happy you are.
[28:28] I like it.
[28:28] Well done.
[28:29] Beautiful.
[28:30] Thank you.
[28:30] Thanks, guys.
[28:30] All right.
[28:32] You're fucking gone.
[28:33] See ya.
