In this bonus episode of The Money Mentor Podcast, we sit down with Amy & Rhett alongside their Relationship Manager, Chevonne, to uncover how structure, education, and accountability helped them turn high incomes with no direction into a clear, strategic wealth-building journey. Before joining Infinity, Amy & Rhett were earning well, but the numbers weren’t reflecting that reality. Despite having strong incomes, they felt like they were spinning their wheels, working hard with nothing to show for it. After joining Infinity in September 2024, everything changed. With a plan, accountability, and guidance, they made bold, strategic decisions that turned pressure into progress. This episode dives into: - How learning to trust the process changed everything - Budgeting breakthroughs and finally getting spending under control - How the $600/week FFF made finances predictable, not stressful - The mindset shift from “surviving” to intentional wealth building - The impact of long-term strategy instead of short-term fixes - Their advice for anyone earning well but feeling stuck - Amy & Rhett’s story is proof that sometimes the biggest wins start with clarity, not perfection. Once the structure was there, growth followed. 👉 Watch the free webinar to start your journey: https://bit.ly/43V2jKN

[0:00] I was saying to Gee, you know, I always thought that the people that they get to do these types of interviews are the cream of the crop, the ones that, you know...
[0:11] The top 1%ers.
[0:11] The top 1%ers.
[0:12] Yeah.
[0:14] But everybody's achieving this.
[0:16] Yeah.
[0:16] Like you look at the, once you're an Infinity client, you join the Facebook group.
[0:22] And every week you see someone go, I paid off my mortgage.
[0:25] I knocked off 50 grand worth of debt.
[0:27] I just sit on another investment property.
[0:29] You know, those stories are consistent and constant, yeah, and everybody is doing it.
[0:38] And so it's just someone to come in and go, we can structure you, so you just let them.
[0:47] And once you follow the plan, it's fine, just follow the plan.
[0:53] Money isn't the root of all evil, the fucking lack of it is.
[0:56] Not money, the lack of understanding money.
[0:59] When I put that into emphasis, when I realized that psychological effect and how it hit our family, I have to be all the fucking way.
[1:05] You are now watching the Money Mentor Podcast with Graham Holm.
[1:09] Graham Holm.
[1:09] Graham Holm.
[1:10] Graham Holm.
[1:13] You're fucking gone, see ya.
[1:15] Before you were with Infinity, did you have a budget and what did life look like?
[1:22] Well, we were actually with a company called MyBudget to help us sort of figure out where all our money was going.
[1:28] But we found that just way too restrictive.
[1:31] We didn't have access to our own money easily through them.
[1:34] So that wasn't a great experience.
[1:36] And before that, I don't think we really had a budget.
[1:39] We were spending a lot of money on renovations for our previous homes.
[1:44] Yeah, and money was just disappearing.
[1:46] We didn't really have a budget.
[1:47] Yeah, any money that we did have went back into our home and then we'd kind of get to the end of the month and not have anything and, you know, have to spend the last week of the month because we were both paid monthly.
[2:01] Just, you know, wondering how we were going to go and buy a grocery bill or two.
[2:07] Yeah, we're going to get ahead.
[2:09] Did you stick to the my budget?
[2:13] So they managed everything for you, but...
[2:17] You know, they budgeted down to, you know, a pool chemical or, you know, so if you'd have like $330 a week in food, like that's what you got.
[2:30] And so and there was no concept of fuel food fund.
[2:34] It was like, OK, you need to put this amount away for some obscure food.
[2:39] item that you regularly may use and it just sat in the my budget bank account and then when you needed it you needed 24 to 48 hours to try and get it out of that bank account because it wasn't instant okay so it sounds complicated yeah it was annoying yeah so the story i've got the kind of one of the reasons why we just decided to to change was um i was at bunnings in the pool chemical aisle and needed to get something because our pool was turning green and
[3:05] And I had to call them up and say, hey, I need this money out of that particular bucket.
[3:10] And I said, oh, sorry, we can't do that.
[3:12] We don't do the transfers on weekends.
[3:14] And so we had to wait till Monday to get that money.
[3:16] So that's just, I was like, no, that's enough.
[3:18] That's making life harder.
[3:19] Yeah, exactly.
[3:20] To access our own money.
[3:21] It was crap.
[3:21] Yeah.
[3:21] Okay.
[3:22] Well, what's life like now?
[3:25] And what is your FFF now that you stick to a budget?
[3:28] So it's $600.
[3:31] And to be honest, I don't even really think about it that much.
[3:34] Yeah, that's good.
[3:36] We've got, you know, if bills come in, they come in.
[3:40] We don't worry about it.
[3:42] You know, we're not restricted.
[3:43] We're not restricted.
[3:45] Like I love to cook and we eat really well.
[3:50] And you don't have to ask someone permission to buy a pool kit.
[3:52] Exactly, yeah.
[3:54] The money's there if we need it.
[3:55] If it's there, we need it.
[3:57] If it's not, okay.
[4:00] But it's not really ever not there.
[4:02] It's just there now.
[4:04] It's weird.
[4:05] It just exists and nothing changed.
[4:08] Um, you know, nothing changed in terms of, um, well, I was made redundant, but then I got another role again.
[4:17] Um, but our incomes haven't changed.
[4:21] We haven't, you know, got a second job.
[4:23] We haven't got a, um, you know, some random obscure inheritance.
[4:29] It just, we just...
[4:31] rejigged the way that we use our money.
[4:33] Yeah.
[4:34] You have something to show for it now.
[4:35] 100%.
[4:36] Yeah.
[4:37] Okay.
[4:37] Well, what would you say to someone who's maybe feeling hesitant about someone monitoring their spending?
[4:45] Well, if you knew how to do it, then you wouldn't need someone to monitor your spending.
[4:51] I like that.
[4:52] And I don't really have to monitor you guys anymore, which is great.
[4:55] No.
[4:56] But, you know, there are some clients that aren't in the same position as us, I'm sure.
[5:01] But...
[5:03] Yeah.
[5:04] You wouldn't be knocking on Infiniti's door if you knew what you were talking about.
[5:07] That's right.
[5:08] And I mean, there are times where we go above the $600, but it's just kind of unexpected type stuff.
[5:16] Like if, because we generally, we try to, you know, refuel one car one week and the other one the next sort of thing.
[5:20] And sometimes that kind of overlaps and I need to go by, you know, 50 bucks this week.
[5:26] Yeah.
[5:26] But then you make it up the next week.
[5:28] So it's, yeah.
[5:29] And then we'll have, usually we have anywhere from, you know, 60 to $30 left over in our FFF.
[5:35] And, you know, we've eaten really well and we've bought lunches when we go to work and we might've gone and got takeaway for, you know, on a Friday night when I can't be bothered cooking.
[5:47] Like that's our usual week.
[5:49] And we live perfectly fine.
[5:51] That's good.
[5:52] That's good.
[5:53] And here's a fun one,
[5:54] Which one of you is the biggest spender out of the FFF?
[5:58] That would be Amy.
[6:00] I knew that.
[6:02] But Rhett, what do you do to keep Amy in line?
[6:06] Not that you're really bad.
[6:07] No, there's not much I have to do, no.
[6:09] I mean, we do also allow ourselves a little bit of sort of personal spending money as well each month.
[6:17] So there's nothing to really worry about.
[6:19] Yeah, I don't think there's...
[6:22] anything I really need to do.
[6:23] We both understand what our budget is and now that we've got it sort of nailed down.
[6:27] Yeah.
[6:28] We give ourselves $400 a month in just spending on ourselves.
[6:33] So if, you know, I wanted to go and buy an outfit or Rhett wanted to go and buy something, you know, some techie thing, that comes out of his and we don't, and that's what we spend on ourselves each month.
[6:46] So we don't really go over, but it's probably, oh, it's more,
[6:51] I can't be bothered cooking.
[6:51] Let's go out for dinner.
[6:53] And he'll go, I can cook.
[6:55] And I'll go, no, let's go out for dinner.
[6:57] Love that.
[7:01] And how has being with infinity impacted your life overall?
[7:04] Yeah.
[7:06] Well, we've gone from basically having a $1.1 million mortgage to... And $65,000 in personal debt.
[7:12] Yeah, yeah, to having five, maybe six investment properties in a year.
[7:17] So, I mean, you tell me.
[7:19] Yeah.
[7:19] Sounds pretty good.
[7:20] I think it's what we went to before.
[7:22] I think you guys have so much to show for your income now.
[7:27] We just... Because we didn't change.
[7:29] Like I said before, our incomes didn't change.
[7:32] Nothing's changed.
[7:35] We are rent festers.
[7:36] Not everyone needs to be a rent fester, but that was a choice that we made because it was a strategy that we wanted.
[7:44] But because we restructured, got the right advice, and it's an end-to-end service.
[7:52] It's the accountants, it's the lawyers, it's the relationship managers, it's the finance strategists, it's the wealth strategists, it's our financial advisor, our accountants.
[8:01] It was the whole package given to us that helped us get to a strategy and it's kind of...
[8:08] You know, as we entered into the podcast, we were like, okay, this is a bit of imposter syndrome.
[8:13] Should we even be here?
[8:14] And then just talking to G and doing the podcast, he's like, you guys have nailed it.
[8:18] Don't worry about it.
[8:20] And then, you know, reflecting on some of the things he was saying, you know, you've got...
[8:26] five properties potentially making 75 or 50k, even 50k a year of growth.
[8:35] That's something you didn't have 12 months ago.
[8:37] It's just a complete change to where we were and we're so fortunate that
[8:44] We found Infinity.
[8:45] And you have a whole team backing you as well.
[8:47] Like you said, you're FS, Walsh, RM.
[8:49] There's more G, U. Yeah.
[8:52] And all of the other people outside of Infinity as well.
[8:55] So like the accountants and the finance.
[8:58] Financial advisors.
[8:59] Yeah, yeah.
[9:00] It's just...
[9:02] the process, the initial process of setting everything up because we got four properties, which is basically straight away from our first REM.
[9:11] So two in our super and then a dual occupancy.
[9:15] And the amount of paperwork that comes along with that, there's no way we could have done that by ourselves.
[9:20] And just the help of the broader team, mostly Infinity and then just the lawyers and then everything outside is just, yeah, it's amazing.
[9:30] That's awesome.
[9:31] So leading on to that, what do you think your biggest win has been so far with Infinity?
[9:39] I think we had some personal goals.
[9:42] You know, I think our first REM
[9:45] We said to each other, we'd love to be up on that stage one day, being a reference client.
[9:51] We were there in 12 months.
[9:52] Like, you know, we're sitting on, we're able to tell our story.
[9:55] But just the organic growth of where we've come from, it wasn't
[10:01] It was just everything we've been offered has just been insane.
[10:08] And, you know, the structuring of our money so we don't have to worry about it and the advice to say, okay, well, you've got this much left over, you need to sweep it into this loan to build more, you know, build more equity because you don't have a, you don't need a savings account, put all your money into this loan, which, you know, it's...
[10:29] We just didn't know any of this stuff.
[10:31] So that's been invaluable to us.
[10:33] Yeah, that's awesome.
[10:34] That's really good.
[10:36] And what's one piece of advice you would give to someone maybe who's struggling to stick with an FFF or just the structure in total?
[10:45] Grow up.
[10:46] Yeah.
[10:47] Yeah.
[10:48] I mean, if you're getting towards the end of the week and realizing you've got no money left, then you just need to ask yourself, do we really need that thing?
[10:55] Do I need to be spending that money?
[10:56] Yeah.
[10:57] And, you know, there are certain things that you can be doing.
[11:00] You know, you can be – I downloaded an app and I store all of our favorite food.
[11:04] It cost me $70 a year, but I reference it.
[11:07] And so then I can go and choose from, you know, hundreds of recipes that –
[11:11] that we like and then I do our meal plans for the week and all in one shop and then it's all done and ready for yeah it's not that always multiple trips to the shops and suddenly you've spent more than you think you should have yeah it takes you've you've got to be willing to do the work you're more proactive probably yeah you've got to be willing to
[11:31] Yeah, budget.
[11:33] It's not like Jay says, you're not living off two-minute noodles, but you are sticking to a plan that you need to stick to.
[11:40] Yeah.
[11:40] It's not even scary, though.
[11:42] It's not like having a set budget.
[11:45] It's not restrictive at all because the way that you work out what your FFF is spells it out to you.
[11:51] These are all your weekly things you need to budget for, and then you might give yourself a little bit of a 10% buffer or something.
[11:57] Yeah.
[11:58] And then whatever that figure is, it's easy to stick to.
[12:01] Yeah, that's great.
[12:01] Yeah.
[12:02] What would you say to someone who's sitting on the fence about joining Infinity?
[12:06] Just do it, honestly.
[12:08] It's been like getting over that initial anxiety of, oh, can we do this?
[12:16] So just seeing how easy the process has been over the last 12 months.
[12:20] Obviously, there was that big initial setup, but then we've really not done much since then.
[12:25] It's all passive in the background, a lot of it, and obviously catching up with you every couple of months to just make sure we're on track.
[12:32] And yeah, it's been really easy.
[12:34] I was saying to Gee, you know, I always thought that the people that they get to do these types of interviews are like the cream of the crop, the ones that, you know.
[12:45] The top 1%.
[12:46] The top 1% is.
[12:48] But everybody's achieving this.
[12:50] Yeah.
[12:50] Like you look at the once you're an Infinity client, you join the Facebook group and every week you see someone go, I paid off my mortgage.
[12:59] I knocked off 50 grand worth of debt.
[13:01] I just sit on another investment property.
[13:04] you know those stories are consistent and every and constant yeah and everybody is doing it um and so it's it's just someone to come in and go we can structure you so you just let them um and once you follow the plan it's fine just follow the plan yeah
[13:27] And you're just normal people doing everyday normal things.
[13:30] We've got a normal job.
[13:31] We've got a stun, a cavoodle and two caps.
[13:35] We're normal people.
[13:37] And five or six investment properties.
[13:39] Yeah.
[13:40] Crazy.
[13:41] Who would have thought?
[13:43] We didn't.
[13:43] Yeah, that was just phenomenal.
[13:45] We thought we were walking away today with five and we potentially might be walking away with six.
[13:49] That's incredible.
[13:51] I'm so proud of you guys, truly.
[13:53] It's amazing.
[13:54] In 12 months, you guys have achieved so much.
[13:55] You should be very proud.
[13:56] We're blown away.
[13:58] You're fucking gone.
[14:00] See ya.
