Everyone told Vince and Carmela they were lucky. Seven years on a 1.99% loan, they'd paid off $7,000. Want to improve your own financial future? Our free webinar is where to start👉 https://bit.ly/43V2jKN Vince and Carmela met at 19, built their dream home, and spent the next thirty years refinancing it, so many times Vince has lost count. Credit cards were the safety net. One Christmas Eve they bought the kids $1.99 toys off a 7-Eleven rack. Seven years on a fixed 1.99% rate took their loan from $216,000 to $210,000. Six months after joining Infinity Group it's at $173,000, and Vince has done the maths on what that's taken off the life of the loan. In their late fifties, they thought a pension was the plan. Then someone told them they could buy a property. #ChangingLivesPodcast #PayOffYourMortgage #FinancialFreedom

[0:00] We got to a really low point and Carmel couldn't talk about that because I was...
[0:09] It was Christmas Eve.
[0:11] We drove with the kids in the car to 7-Eleven.
[0:14] I had the $1.99 and $2.99 toys.
[0:18] And I remember just grabbing a few and that was going to be their gifts for Christmas.
[0:23] Money was always a source of fear, stress and arguments.
[0:28] They had a mortgage they expected to carry for 17 years, two credit cards they leaned on just to get by, and the creeping fear that retirement would arrive before the debt was ever gone.
[0:40] I had a joke.
[0:40] Remember my joke?
[0:41] You did have a joke.
[0:41] Don't worry for your retirement.
[0:43] When you're 90, I'll make a cake for you to have at work with your friends.
[0:47] Yes!
[0:49] The moment everything changed happened while visiting their new grandchild, a phone in Carmilla's hands, and Graham Holm appeared in her feed.
[0:58] They attended the masterclass in October 2025.
[1:01] When they put their numbers into the calculator and saw 17 years reduced to under four, that was the moment that changed everything.
[1:10] Six months in and the credit cards are gone.
[1:13] The mortgage has dropped by $37,000 and they've already bought their first investment property.
[1:20] We've saved almost $100,000 in interest.
[1:24] That's crazy.
[1:24] And that's six months, Rach.
[1:26] What happens in a year, two years, three years?
[1:30] Welcome back to the Money Mentor Podcast.
[1:32] I'm your host, Rachel Howlett.
[1:33] We have another episode of Changing Lives Financially, where today we have Vince and Carmel.
[1:39] How are we, guys?
[1:40] We're well, Rach.
[1:41] How are you?
[1:41] I am doing very, very well.
[1:42] That's good.
[1:43] How are we feeling about being here?
[1:44] A little bit nervous.
[1:46] Yeah.
[1:47] Excited.
[1:48] Excited.
[1:49] Yeah.
[1:49] Well, you're just here to share your story and nobody tells it better than yourself.
[1:52] So tell me about yourselves, your background, where we were all pre-infinity.
[1:59] How far back, as far back as you want to go.
[2:02] Okay.
[2:02] Yeah.
[2:02] You are.
[2:03] So we met when we were both 19?
[2:05] 19, yeah.
[2:06] 19.
[2:07] So we've been together.
[2:08] That's a long time.
[2:10] Yeah, nearly 40 years.
[2:12] 35, anyway.
[2:15] So we did the thing.
[2:17] We built our dream home and we had kids straight away, one, two and three.
[2:22] Lived a dream without the money.
[2:24] Yep.
[2:25] Yeah, pretty much.
[2:26] Yeah.
[2:27] From then on, we didn't realise, but life has set it up, was set up to struggle.
[2:33] Yeah.
[2:33] From then on.
[2:34] I was doing two jobs because we had kids straight away.
[2:38] Obviously, Karma was home with the kids for a while, having three, so that's at least… It's a busy household.
[2:45] Yeah.
[2:45] Yeah.
[2:46] So…
[2:47] Yeah, working two jobs and just… Seven days a week.
[2:51] Seven days a week and, you know, missed out on family life, a lot of it, but had to do what we had to do and just followed what everyone else was doing, I suppose, back then.
[3:02] That was the thing that we were told to do.
[3:07] Growing up, it's from kids to adults.
[3:08] You get a job and you work and you try and pay your house.
[3:11] Pay the mortgage, yeah.
[3:12] But we just struggled.
[3:14] Even with two jobs, we had credit cards just to treat ourselves.
[3:18] You were very reliant on credit cards, weren't you?
[3:20] 100% reliant on credit cards.
[3:23] You know, most of the money went to the mortgage.
[3:28] We started off with a loan mortgage and then did what everyone else did and refinanced.
[3:33] Yeah.
[3:33] And all of a sudden that mortgage tripled.
[3:35] Yeah.
[3:36] Because you were adding things to it to buy, pay for things along the way.
[3:40] Well, you wouldn't save.
[3:41] Yeah.
[3:41] A new car, a holiday every year.
[3:43] We had to treat the kids.
[3:44] We had to be, we had to do what everyone else was doing because if we didn't, it just felt like we were failing.
[3:51] So the credit card was our buffer.
[3:53] That was the safety net you thought?
[3:54] That was our safety net that we brought.
[3:56] We kept saying, we'll pay it off next year.
[3:58] No, we're going to work on it and then something else will come up and then something else.
[4:02] Yeah.
[4:02] And the biggest one was when we decided to put a pool in our house.
[4:07] That was a great investment.
[4:11] Not.
[4:11] We did a little project with a few family members and we made a little bit of profit, but we had a home loan, but we rewarded ourselves with a profit and build a pool rather than putting it on the loan.
[4:23] So you had like a bit of an investment that you did with family.
[4:27] And like I said, yeah, that little bit of profit we thought, well, it could have been worse.
[4:31] We were going to buy a car with it.
[4:33] But we thought, no, we're going to add value to our home.
[4:36] And I said, no, I want the kids to be home more and to enjoy our home.
[4:40] So instead of the car, I said, let's build a pool.
[4:44] Little did we know that that came with a lot of entertaining.
[4:47] Yeah.
[4:47] And a lot of orders of pizzas.
[4:49] So more expenses started adding up.
[4:53] And then, of course, we remortgaged again.
[4:55] And then.
[4:56] How many times do you think you did that?
[4:58] Honestly, I reckon I've lost count.
[5:00] Would you say?
[5:01] Yeah.
[5:02] Well, the thing, Rach, is that we were always looking for something.
[5:06] Yeah.
[5:07] Even at a young age, we always knew that there's got to be something.
[5:12] We can't just keep doing this.
[5:13] Yeah.
[5:14] That was our mindset.
[5:15] But every time we spoke to somebody or tried to do something, it was just led the wrong way.
[5:23] It was just like, hey, let's refinance, let's refinance, let's refinance, start again, start again.
[5:29] And it was like, this must be the way it's done.
[5:32] But there was no education following those conversations of, hey, do this to pay it off sooner and don't get stuck in, you know, if you've been, you've got a 30-year loan, paid it off for five years, go refinance out to 30 years again.
[5:43] Well, that's a 35-year home loan.
[5:45] Then you've done it, you know, a couple more times after that, but nobody's telling you how to pay it down.
[5:50] Yeah, exactly.
[5:51] Yeah.
[5:52] And then I just thought, oh, well, the only other thing I can do is, um, I, um, I'm
[5:57] Was working with my father-in-law at the time after leaving my previous two jobs.
[6:03] And the – well, what I made sense of that was that, you know, I took a pay cut, but eventually I'll be running the business, which that happened.
[6:13] But, geez, it was a shock, eh?
[6:15] Like, the expenses that come with running a business.
[6:17] Oh, yeah.
[6:18] And just, you know, and people thought that we were making it like, oh, you guys are set.
[6:22] Yeah.
[6:23] Because you took over an established business.
[6:25] Exactly right.
[6:26] And just things just didn't go the way we thought it would go.
[6:30] Just, you know, chasing payment.
[6:32] You know, when you're working, you get a wage every fortnight.
[6:36] When you're running your own business, you're relying on people to pay you on time and you've got expenses.
[6:42] So, yeah, and from that we thought, oh, well, we've got a business.
[6:45] We can buy ourselves a new car and put it on the business.
[6:49] And then with the new car, it was funny because when I came home with the new car, there was a jet ski attached to the back of it.
[6:57] And I thought, oh, this jet ski followed us home.
[7:00] Obviously it didn't.
[7:01] That was a great investment.
[7:02] That was another.
[7:04] Yeah, we got a jet ski to use 10 days of a year.
[7:09] On a holiday, an accommodation that we really didn't have the money for.
[7:13] Yeah.
[7:14] But we did that for many, many years, didn't we?
[7:17] Yeah.
[7:18] The kids enjoyed it.
[7:19] That was good.
[7:20] Oh, it was, it was, memories were created.
[7:22] That was the best thing that came out of it, but it put us back.
[7:25] But it put you in a, in a hard place because as you're trying to show up with smiles on your faces and be there for the kids, you know what's really going on in the background.
[7:32] Yeah.
[7:33] Exactly right.
[7:33] Yeah.
[7:33] And we, we, we really hid that well, didn't we?
[7:36] Yeah.
[7:36] Yeah.
[7:37] But we got to a really low point and Carmel couldn't talk about that because I was.
[7:44] Stop it.
[7:45] You make me emotional.
[7:47] Okay.
[7:48] I said, oh, was he going to do that, but...
[7:53] You can take it.
[7:53] Probably one of our lowest points was when our kids were young, we were struggling.
[7:58] And, of course, with our background and everything, it just wasn't discussed.
[8:02] And I remember waiting for him to get paid one night.
[8:06] It was Christmas Eve.
[8:07] And he finally got home with his little envelope.
[8:10] Obviously, it was cash money back then, you know.
[8:12] And we ripped that open.
[8:13] And we drove with the kids in the car.
[8:15] We drove to 7-Eleven.
[8:17] And, you know, they're spinning racks and we started choosing gifts for them.
[8:21] Oh, because they had like little toys.
[8:23] Yeah.
[8:24] They had the $1.99 and $2.99 toys.
[8:27] And I remember just grabbing a few and that was going to be their gifts for Christmas.
[8:31] So we were never extravagant with Christmas presents.
[8:34] We didn't buy rubbish.
[8:36] We wanted more experience with the gifts.
[8:39] But this particular Christmas, this hadn't been paid in the business.
[8:43] It was looking like no gifts.
[8:45] We didn't have time for it.
[8:46] And then growing up and the kids were getting older and everything, we made sure, and it was, it was funny that that's their connection, wasn't it?
[8:53] When we did go to Kmart, I would say to the kids, now come and choose someone's name because we're going to buy a gift for that child as well.
[9:00] So you did the wishing tree appeal even before infinity?
[9:03] We did that.
[9:04] Like when the kids, when we just got to that point that we thought a small gift for them.
[9:08] was enough, but another gift was someone else because, again, that was just our experience.
[9:13] Yeah.
[9:14] And it was a little nippet of something.
[9:16] Imagine, we can only just imagine everyone out there how hard, you know, other things have been.
[9:22] Yeah.
[9:23] And now our children do that with their kids.
[9:26] So I'm so excited to get past it on.
[9:28] Wow.
[9:29] You guys have had a pretty, pretty big background where you guys just give and give and give, but there was just almost from a place where you couldn't.
[9:36] So when did you finally go, okay, we've got to put ourselves first?
[9:40] Yeah.
[9:41] We've got to do something different here.
[9:42] We've got a mortgage.
[9:43] Yeah.
[9:44] We're looking to retire at some point.
[9:46] What clicked?
[9:47] What changed?
[9:47] What clicked was in 2013, my dad passed away.
[9:51] My dad was a giver, a good businessman.
[9:55] He was generous.
[9:56] He helped us so much build our home.
[9:58] because we built a house with him and you worked on the house too.
[10:01] So we were attached to this house.
[10:02] I do smoke tomorrow.
[10:04] But I knew for us to survive and for us to keep moving forward, we got to the point that we knew we had to sell.
[10:12] And so to sell, we wanted a new beginning and that's when we decided to move to Cairns.
[10:16] Yep.
[10:17] So we had a fresh start.
[10:18] That was difficult because there was a lot of whiplash on that one, wasn't there?
[10:21] Yeah.
[10:22] A lot of people gave their opinions that what we're doing was wrong and –
[10:26] how can we leave our parents and how can we leave our children and how can we... And we just knew that for us to survive or to be in a better place together, it had to be done.
[10:37] You had to make a change.
[10:39] It's easy to give opinions when you're not living the life yourself.
[10:41] Well, that's right.
[10:42] Yeah.
[10:42] That's right.
[10:43] And so that was the real turner for us, wasn't it?
[10:46] That's when we knew we had to do things differently, a new job, new everything.
[10:51] Back then I'd worked for 17 years at my Inbetween.
[10:55] I'd stopped working for health reasons and then we moved to Cairns and –
[11:00] And honestly, if it wasn't for infinity, I would never put myself out there again.
[11:06] So I'm now currently working casual work.
[11:09] I had two jobs.
[11:10] Well, you said you wanted to gap you.
[11:12] Yeah.
[11:13] Seven years later.
[11:14] No, no, no.
[11:15] Ten years.
[11:15] Ten years later.
[11:16] Ten years later.
[11:17] A gap year turned into a ten year gap year.
[11:20] A ten year.
[11:21] And after our first REM, because we were sitting at the table and we were talking about getting excited and building and building, and I turned around and said to the people next to me, I'm going to go and get a job.
[11:30] Wow.
[11:30] I put it out there, didn't I?
[11:31] I had to do it.
[11:33] Two weeks later, I did, and I was in a job.
[11:35] Why did you decide to do that?
[11:37] Because I could see.
[11:38] I could see that whatever I was going to do this time was going to work for us.
[11:42] And it wasn't just paying cards off or paying something else.
[11:46] It was actually paying our debts off.
[11:48] Yeah.
[11:48] And that's really, really got me excited and it's...
[11:53] We're still buzzing.
[11:54] We're excited.
[11:55] And if it wasn't for that, seriously, I don't know, we probably would have made the same mistakes again and again and again, even though we did have our kids on our back constantly saying, get rid of those cards, get rid of those cards.
[12:06] Yeah.
[12:07] And two of them are with infinity now and the third one is trying to get in.
[12:12] So hopefully she gets in.
[12:14] So we've got a whole family now.
[12:15] It's just amazing.
[12:17] We play little games.
[12:19] Like, like.
[12:19] Get a bit competitive.
[12:20] Yeah, well, for example, you know, if we go out and we might, because there's room in the FFF, we'll go out and spoil ourselves for breakfast in the morning.
[12:29] Yeah, so we do a Snapchat, obviously.
[12:30] We do a Snapchat and send it to the kids and I'll get a phone call, is that in your budget?
[12:34] No.
[12:35] So it's just a competition and we're like, oh, well, we've still got this much in our budget.
[12:40] How much have you got?
[12:41] You know?
[12:41] So it's just great having the whole family in the same scenario.
[12:47] And same mindset.
[12:48] And mindset and moving forward.
[12:50] And we're so excited for our kids because we can see what it's done.
[12:54] It's changed our lives.
[12:55] Yeah.
[12:56] Well, take me back to before, just before you met infinity and you came across us, you know, on social media, where were you in life then?
[13:03] What was the mortgage?
[13:04] Where were you living?
[13:05] And then how did you find us?
[13:07] So we were in Cairns at this stage.
[13:08] Yep, so you'd already moved at this point.
[13:10] And my oldest daughter found Infinity first and she put it out there.
[13:16] Actually, Carmel was in Melbourne at this stage because my oldest daughter was having our fourth grandchild.
[13:23] And they had nothing to do because they had to be home with the baby.
[13:27] So they said, oh, let's watch this broadcast.
[13:30] And, well, Carmel saw it and she sort of contacted me and said, you've got to check this out.
[13:38] And we did.
[13:38] So that was in – what year was that, Carmel?
[13:41] That was in – so that was probably three years ago.
[13:45] Yeah, yeah, roughly three years ago.
[13:47] And we just watched it and –
[13:49] And we sat on it.
[13:50] And we sat on it.
[13:51] And we watched it.
[13:52] And when you – like I said to Kamala, I said, I don't know what this guy is all about, but this is something I'm really interested in.
[14:00] And then you get back – because you stayed in Melbourne for about a good two months or three months just to help out with the baby.
[14:07] I said, when you get back, we need to do this.
[14:10] And at the time, we were like –
[14:14] We couldn't do it, Rachel.
[14:15] We couldn't do it.
[14:16] Because we were set up.
[14:17] We had an amazing loan, 1.99.
[14:19] It was a fixed term.
[14:21] Oh, my gosh.
[14:22] And I thought you were killing it.
[14:24] Well, people were telling us we were so lucky.
[14:25] So lucky, yeah.
[14:27] And we were.
[14:27] Like, well, yes.
[14:29] We were putting a little bit.
[14:29] We were putting extra on it, but we were servicing our credit cards too.
[14:33] Yeah.
[14:33] So there was only so much you could do.
[14:35] Yeah.
[14:35] And you could only go so far in those extra payments on a fixed line.
[14:38] Yes.
[14:39] Yeah.
[14:39] I had to keep checking.
[14:41] You hit that ceiling eventually.
[14:43] Correct.
[14:43] That's right.
[14:44] We had to keep making sure for that.
[14:45] So as soon as we got back, that was the first thing we did.
[14:47] But in saying that too, because we had watched a lot of podcasts and we watched with the webinar once you got back –
[14:57] We sort of started to set ourselves up because our loan was ready to mature.
[15:04] So we thought it was smart to wait because we're such a good wicket.
[15:07] Yeah.
[15:08] We're going to wait until that matured.
[15:10] Before you took action.
[15:11] Before we took action.
[15:13] Yeah.
[15:13] And my other thing was let's clean house before we'll call the cleaner.
[15:16] Clean house, yeah.
[15:18] So we didn't take on a little bit of the structures that we were shown, which made a world of a difference.
[15:24] That's good.
[15:24] So you did something.
[15:25] You didn't sit back and do nothing.
[15:27] And that's what convinced me that because I saw by doing that little bit how much it started changing.
[15:33] Yeah.
[15:34] And I thought we really need to do this.
[15:36] Yeah.
[15:36] We're wasting time.
[15:37] Well, you said something that I thought was really, really powerful, where you said the fear of not looking into infinity was scarier than doing nothing.
[15:46] Honestly, yeah.
[15:48] Coming from, I mean, I'm 57 and not having or not knowing which way my future is going to look, the only future I had was living off a pension.
[15:59] Yeah.
[15:59] Which everyone told me that I was entitled to because I've paid taxes.
[16:03] Yep.
[16:04] All my life.
[16:05] So it's not a bad thing.
[16:06] Yeah, wow.
[16:07] That was scarier.
[16:07] Crazy.
[16:08] crazy thing for someone to say to you it is it is that's the information that's out there yeah because there's nothing for people people don't realize they're just stuck in a rut like we were but for me it's scarier not knowing what the future is going to hold than actually getting out and building your future yeah because yeah everything's fearful because you don't know what you what you're going towards but it's better going towards something than nothing at all yeah
[16:34] Yeah, I think that's very, very powerful.
[16:37] Because what was your home loan when you first started?
[16:40] So when we first started with Infinity, we had it from 216.
[16:45] We were working on it over the last seven years.
[16:48] We got it down to 210.
[16:49] Yep.
[16:50] 210 from 216 over seven years.
[16:53] Yeah.
[16:53] That's just.
[16:54] We're amazing.
[16:55] I had to just say that out loud for a second.
[16:57] That's great.
[16:57] Been on 1.99% fixed rate.
[16:59] How good was that?
[17:00] We were killing it, Rachel.
[17:01] Oh.
[17:02] Can we just.
[17:03] I'm going to just say this down the camera.
[17:04] We're saying that with sarcasm.
[17:06] Oh, yeah.
[17:06] Yes, definitely sarcasm And then we, once we joined Infinity The day that we got accepted And thank God for that And we were sitting at 210 And
[17:19] Yeah.
[17:20] So, I mean, 210, you say that out loud and you're like, oh, it's not that high, right, compared to some of the home loans, especially what you would have seen in the masterclass and your previous loan.
[17:29] You would have seen in the chart by people saying 800, 750, 900, a million.
[17:35] Why do you think it was still so important to look into something like this even though your loan was as low as it was?
[17:39] Sorry.
[17:40] So for people out there that were on high level,
[17:45] higher home loans, for us, $210,000, and knowing from what we've come from and what we're doing, it was high for us too.
[17:53] Especially when you're chasing your money, people paying your invoices.
[17:58] Correct.
[17:58] The number doesn't matter because if we did nothing –
[18:01] that number would probably still be where we'll be at.
[18:04] Well, you only paid seven grand in seven years.
[18:07] That's right.
[18:07] Yeah.
[18:08] Because, again, you know, we just needed to pay some unexpected bill so you'd take it out, you know, and we weren't getting anywhere.
[18:14] Life was always – there was always something.
[18:17] There was something that deterred us.
[18:18] I mean, look, at the end of the day, three kids –
[18:21] We did help with their weddings.
[18:23] You know, we contributed.
[18:25] That was our dream.
[18:25] We really are huge givers.
[18:27] To contribute to their wedding.
[18:29] But it wasn't enough because for me, it still saddens me.
[18:32] I would have wanted so much more.
[18:34] And if we were in a better position, I could have given so much more.
[18:38] It wasn't just about buying the dress or buying the…
[18:40] you know, or having the guests or doing that.
[18:43] It was so much more we wanted to do because our parents were so generous and they did more for us and not to be able to do it back.
[18:51] But that's what's in the future for us is, yes, they're in infinity and everything, but I'll tell you what.
[18:56] That's one of my biggest dreams is that I visualise myself helping the grandkids and the kids and say, there you go.
[19:02] Just take it.
[19:03] Do what you want to do with this.
[19:04] Yeah.
[19:05] So that's why.
[19:05] Because we created this.
[19:06] You know, it means working so hard all the time.
[19:09] Such a provider.
[19:10] Such a hard worker.
[19:12] I don't.
[19:13] That's true.
[19:14] I'll only say it once.
[19:15] I'm going to have to edit that.
[19:18] We've now got it recorded, so you can play it back as many times as you want.
[19:22] Honestly, everyone works hard.
[19:24] But Vince, honestly, anyone that knows him will tell you that he works that even more so.
[19:30] Never, ever, ever complains about working.
[19:32] He'll get up, get the job done, whether he's sick or whether he's not.
[19:36] And it's sad that we weren't being able to really cut things down and get ourselves where...
[19:42] I think we deserve to be.
[19:44] Yeah.
[19:45] Look, one thing that people got to realise, everyone's deserving.
[19:51] There's not anyone that's not deserving.
[19:53] Everyone deserves something.
[19:55] Yeah.
[19:55] You know.
[19:56] But that's, I think that was our biggest thing with infinity was...
[20:01] It's not too late and we still deserve to keep going forward and creating a new life for ourselves.
[20:07] Absolutely.
[20:07] If we can reach out to anyone else at our age and anyone who doesn't want to talk about finance because you're talking about your failures, really.
[20:16] That's what you're talking about.
[20:17] And we have to learn to step over it.
[20:19] Yeah.
[20:19] Lucky we've got to.
[20:20] Because you think it's always been quite taboo.
[20:22] Yeah.
[20:23] Well, we never spoke about finances.
[20:25] We would get, if I got a speeding fine, I would hide it.
[20:29] Wow That's You know That's where we were at I'd hide it And then somehow Think oh How am I going to pay this off Without hurting Yeah The finances But it was just the thing that So you were never prepared For those moments If something like that happened But yeah So Yeah But to answer Yeah 210 And then You know We did the mastery class In November October 25 Went to REM Yeah And then went to REM in November Oh
[20:57] Thank you, Louie.
[20:58] Oh, my God.
[21:00] Thank you, Louie.
[21:01] You're the best.
[21:02] Yeah, you're the best.
[21:04] And somebody else outed him in the Facebook group the other day where they're like, sorry, G, but I'm so happy, Louie, let us go to you because they went at two months.
[21:11] Yeah.
[21:12] Happy isn't the word.
[21:13] It's so exciting.
[21:14] But could you imagine, like, for us, it was like, you know, we can pay down our mortgage.
[21:18] This is exciting.
[21:19] This is amazing.
[21:20] Then going to REM and being told, no, you can actually get a property.
[21:24] I literally, when we were told that, I went back to the hotel room.
[21:28] I had to lie down under the blankets for a while because I was in shock.
[21:32] Wow.
[21:33] It just shocked me.
[21:34] And I was like, this can't be real.
[21:35] Because did you think you were going to go to the event and be told you could buy a property?
[21:38] I thought, no, they made a mistake, but they'll work it out.
[21:42] Let's go anyway.
[21:43] That was my theory.
[21:44] Let's go anyway, I said, but they'll work it out eventually that there's been a mistake somewhere.
[21:50] The goal was just to pay a mortgage, wasn't it, really?
[21:53] To think that different things have opened up for us.
[21:56] It's, again, anyone else that's thinking, no, this is all we can do.
[22:01] Oh, my God, please don't.
[22:02] Don't hesitate.
[22:04] Just a light bulb moment.
[22:05] It was a light bulb moment for me because I'm not an expert at numbers, but it just clicked to me after the webinar.
[22:15] We were sitting there.
[22:16] We watched the webinar and we were so excited.
[22:18] And then we started watching a podcast.
[22:20] And about 10 minutes into the podcast, I turned around and came along and I said, I've got it.
[22:25] I've got it.
[22:26] The numbers really work.
[22:29] And it just made sense to me.
[22:31] And we just went full forward from there, you know.
[22:34] Yeah.
[22:35] What was the light bulb moment for you on the masterclass?
[22:38] Because that's the two-day full-on educational weekend where you actually get to crunch your own numbers and look at things from your own circumstances.
[22:47] So what was that weekend like for you both?
[22:49] Yeah.
[22:49] So for me, going through the first day on the Saturday, there was just so much information.
[22:56] But it was an overload of information, but everything was excitement because it just all made sense because the light bulb moment was just affirmed to me from the webinar that the numbers made sense.
[23:09] And when we saw it again in more detail...
[23:13] It just confirmed everything.
[23:15] And by Saturday night, I said to Carmel, I said, I can't wait for tomorrow, but I can't wait for tomorrow to end because I need to just jump on board.
[23:26] So we can move forward.
[23:27] Let's keep going.
[23:28] I think I said to our RM, I said, you know, I was in the Ferrari from the start.
[23:34] I said, I don't want to get in the Datsun anymore.
[23:36] I just want to be in that Ferrari and just full speed ahead.
[23:40] Yeah.
[23:40] Like it's just, it's changed our lives, Rach.
[23:43] Yeah.
[23:44] It just has.
[23:45] If you're enjoying this story and want to set yourself up for financial freedom as well, it all starts with our free 45-minute educational webinar.
[23:54] Click the link below this video to begin your journey today.
[23:58] The support, though, the support through everyone, through Nicholas.
[24:01] He's amazing.
[24:02] We always think we're going to get in trouble.
[24:04] I don't know why.
[24:05] It's just that school.
[24:06] I think it's our generation.
[24:07] We always feel like we're going to get in trouble.
[24:09] It's never us saying, oh, no, we're right.
[24:11] Which is why you don't talk about stuff.
[24:13] Yes.
[24:13] Because you fear, like, getting scolded or in trouble.
[24:16] Yes.
[24:16] And then we get on with him and he's constantly saying, you're doing really well.
[24:19] And I'm like, oh, yeah, but I did this.
[24:21] And he's like, yeah, that's fine because you're in your budget.
[24:24] Oh, okay.
[24:25] Yeah, but then I did this and I'm trying to.
[24:28] You're trying to trigger him.
[24:29] I'm trying to trigger him that we've done something wrong because it's been a lifetime of wrong.
[24:34] It's a lifetime of unlearning.
[24:36] Unlearning is what it is.
[24:38] And yet he's great.
[24:39] Has he got the moves or what?
[24:41] You like that video of him on our social media?
[24:45] Yeah, he's our guy.
[24:46] He's our guy.
[24:47] Yeah.
[24:47] But everyone, everyone, honestly, everyone, you know, everything about Infinity, the support, you know, from our people to the whole family is just like it just makes things so simple.
[25:00] Yeah.
[25:01] And I'm not – that's what I was trying to – I couldn't believe I found something and then to be so simple, like it's just I pinch myself all the time.
[25:10] I think that's what pisses people off the most is when, because when we finally teach you everything and we put you through that education, which is what we pride ourselves on is we want everyone to understand it as much as they possibly can.
[25:21] Obviously, we're the experts in what we do and we're going to understand it to a different level, but we really want to educate you on and just say, oh, just trust us.
[25:29] Just let us handle it.
[25:30] We want you to, you know, understand exactly what you're doing.
[25:33] So I think sitting through that masterclass, which is why we always say you both have to sit through it.
[25:39] Yeah.
[25:39] Because you both have to be fully on board with exactly what we teach and then signing up.
[25:44] You're both on board.
[25:45] You're both going to go into it.
[25:47] So what was the light bulb moment for you?
[25:50] I was the same thing when I saw him jumping up and down and say, do you understand we're not going to have a mortgage?
[25:55] And I think, what do you mean?
[25:56] I thought we're going to use our super money and pay our mortgage at the end.
[26:00] And he's like, no, because we can pay this in so many years.
[26:03] And that's when I knew.
[26:05] And seeing Min's excited about something like that, I was like, he's got it.
[26:08] He understood.
[26:10] I'm a little bit slower.
[26:10] That's okay.
[26:12] But yeah, I trust it.
[26:13] I trust it because I saw the excitement.
[26:15] I thought, okay, now we know why and how and then we can get it done.
[26:19] Yeah.
[26:20] Do you remember what your out of debt result was on the masterclass?
[26:22] How many years you could pay it off in?
[26:24] I think it was three years and eight months.
[26:28] It was just under four years.
[26:29] Yeah, just under, yeah.
[26:31] That is amazing.
[26:32] Yeah.
[26:33] Because before you were looking at not being able to pay this home loan off even at retirement and your super was your retirement plan.
[26:39] Pretty much.
[26:39] And your pension.
[26:40] Pretty much.
[26:40] I think it was 17 years we still had left on the mortgage.
[26:44] So, you know, do the math, we're 58.
[26:45] Yeah.
[26:47] um what was that like seeing that number on the screen in front of you with your numbers like we didn't do it for you you crunched your own numbers that's right i told him to do it again she did she asked you're trying to find something wrong again she did ask to do it again i think you did something wrong it doesn't sound right yeah but yeah you know six months in we're tracking we're going to try and actually pay it off before
[27:11] Before four years?
[27:11] I think we will.
[27:12] Before the four years.
[27:13] I think we're on track.
[27:14] Yeah.
[27:15] Yeah.
[27:15] No, we definitely are.
[27:16] Definitely are.
[27:18] Especially with that little bit that I do, which isn't much.
[27:20] It's just casual work or whatever, but that's enough.
[27:22] It's still something.
[27:23] It's something.
[27:24] And I, you know, we worked at it.
[27:25] I said, hey, that's our FF that I'm doing.
[27:28] So that means whatever you're making is going straight to the mortgage.
[27:31] Yeah.
[27:31] Yeah.
[27:32] So that little bit is certainly creating more for us.
[27:36] Yeah.
[27:36] So that's exciting.
[27:37] No, it makes a huge difference.
[27:38] It has a huge compounding effect as well.
[27:40] Yeah.
[27:41] So I think it's absolutely incredible.
[27:42] And how much have you paid off since you started?
[27:45] Okay.
[27:46] I rounded it up.
[27:47] I'm a Virgo, so I had to run the number up before we got here.
[27:50] So what is it?
[27:51] You remember numbers.
[27:52] Okay.
[27:52] So, yeah.
[27:54] So 210 when we first got in January.
[27:56] We're now down to 173.
[28:00] So that's more in what, less than a year than you did seven years prior?
[28:04] So I've worked it out.
[28:06] I've worked it out.
[28:08] We've paid off principal 7.8 years off our loan and we've saved almost $100,000, just under $100,000 in interest.
[28:20] That's crazy.
[28:21] It's just like I'm thinking, no, no, no, no, that's not right.
[28:24] So let's do it again.
[28:25] That's right.
[28:26] The numbers don't lie.
[28:27] Numbers don't lie.
[28:28] That's exactly right.
[28:29] That is crazy.
[28:30] And I love what you said before where you said you never would have put yourself out there if it wasn't for infinity.
[28:35] That is the truth.
[28:36] You found confidence to do that.
[28:38] Why do you think you lacked it before?
[28:40] I think I was away from work for so long.
[28:42] And my previous, I remember working, working, working, missing out on a lot of the weekends.
[28:49] I was doing three weekends out of four.
[28:52] I missed out on a lot of things with the kids, activities and things like that.
[28:56] And it just wasn't chipping away at anything.
[28:59] We were just servicing the same thing.
[29:01] So it felt like, why am I bothering missing out on things when it's not even helping?
[29:05] So it sort of triggered something and that sort of created that for me.
[29:08] It was really difficult.
[29:09] And so I had told myself, you know what, what's the point?
[29:13] And then I got to a point that I wasn't well.
[29:15] And so...
[29:18] Now I'm really good, really good, lots of way financially, confidence, just I can see, I can see clearly now, yeah.
[29:27] Do you believe now that you are worthy?
[29:29] I am, yes.
[29:31] Yeah.
[29:32] Oh, in so many ways, you know, and that's the thing I feel now we're really working together and we're getting it done together and it feels so good to be part of it.
[29:40] Not just being the, you know, the person on the side that's just providing the different things, you know, the meals or the house or the home duties, all of that.
[29:49] It feels amazing to be part of it.
[29:51] It's given me a lot of strength.
[29:53] And again, anyone else out there that sort of stopped for a little while, you can start again.
[29:58] You really can.
[29:58] Yeah.
[29:59] Yeah, and I suggest you do because it builds you again.
[30:02] So you talk more about money in your relationship?
[30:04] Always now.
[30:05] Yeah?
[30:05] Always.
[30:06] Better now, Slade?
[30:08] Probably.
[30:08] You know what?
[30:09] I almost dream about it sometimes.
[30:12] But honestly, it's just so – when you've got a target, when you've got a goal – Or the how.
[30:20] Or the how.
[30:21] The how is the most important.
[30:22] And the why.
[30:22] Yeah, absolutely.
[30:25] You're just limited.
[30:26] You're unlimited, sorry.
[30:27] You're unlimited because you just, like, I can see Carmel when she gets up to go to work.
[30:32] When I take on the extra overtimes, it just like, you know, we go out so happy because we're working towards something.
[30:41] Well, it feels like you're doing it for a purpose.
[30:43] There's a purpose.
[30:43] Not because you have to, but because you know it's going to create bigger things.
[30:47] Well, that's right.
[30:48] Yeah.
[30:49] The future is planned.
[30:50] Yeah.
[30:51] There's something there.
[30:52] Which is a complete 180 from what you said before.
[30:54] Yeah.
[30:55] A hundred percent.
[30:56] Yeah.
[30:56] A hundred percent.
[30:58] It just excites us just to, you know, every, we just can't wait for the end of the month to do our sweeps.
[31:04] It's true.
[31:05] We just count the days down.
[31:06] Everyone's favourite part of the month.
[31:08] It is amazing.
[31:09] We try not to wish life away.
[31:10] We are trying, but we get excited at the end of the month.
[31:14] Yeah.
[31:14] Yeah.
[31:15] Because, again, you'll just see everything chipping, chipping, chipping down, and it's just, you know, so awesome.
[31:20] And, you know, we want to make Nicholas proud of us.
[31:23] Yeah.
[31:25] Yeah.
[31:26] Well, he's obviously very proud because he's put you forward for this.
[31:29] Yes.
[31:29] So he's definitely very proud of you.
[31:31] That was his dream.
[31:33] Yeah, it was one of my dreams.
[31:34] That's part of my journey to get on to a part.
[31:38] I didn't believe it would be done so soon.
[31:41] But like I said, you know, it was like people say, oh, it must be hard living on a budget or it must be hard doing – Oh, it's hard.
[31:49] I didn't think that.
[31:50] Why is that the mentality?
[31:52] I think growing up that was our mentality too.
[31:55] That was our thing.
[31:56] If anyone mentioned anything about a budget, we're like, oh, you know, there has to be something else.
[32:00] Let's look for something else.
[32:02] It just, I don't know what it is.
[32:03] There's the link that it means a minimum of everything, minimal.
[32:07] Minimal.
[32:08] And not living, that's what budget meant to us.
[32:12] Oh, and you're not enjoying yourself too.
[32:14] Yes.
[32:14] Yeah.
[32:15] Absolutely.
[32:15] Well, now budget just means that we're able to do that and that and that and that and get everything rolling and in the place where it needs to be.
[32:23] And we're not servicing other people like the banks.
[32:26] Yeah.
[32:27] We're not, you know, we're not contributing to the bank manager's new BMW.
[32:32] And those huge profits.
[32:34] It's easier, I've got to say it, it's easier to have structure.
[32:41] And work off an FFF or a budget.
[32:44] You know, everyone feels like budget is the bad word.
[32:48] It's not.
[32:49] It's easier doing that than not having a structure and trying to work out where your next dollar's coming from.
[32:55] Yeah.
[32:55] Like it just makes sense.
[32:57] Do you feel like you're going without?
[32:59] At all.
[33:01] No.
[33:02] If anything, everything's most precious to us.
[33:04] Yeah.
[33:05] We'll get our travellers, go down to the beach, sit down and just, you know, enjoy a day off and do that.
[33:12] Sit there and look at each other and say, isn't this great?
[33:15] Isn't this amazing?
[33:16] And everything's working for us.
[33:17] Yeah.
[33:18] In the background.
[33:18] We know everything's happening in the background, but we don't have to be the ones who are forcing us.
[33:22] Yeah.
[33:23] Because all we need to do is stick to our...
[33:26] Yeah.
[33:26] I think we're very connected with life.
[33:29] Oh, I love that.
[33:30] Yeah.
[33:30] I love that.
[33:31] Yeah.
[33:32] It's sort of grounded us, you know, and we're doing a lot more together.
[33:36] Yeah.
[33:38] I don't know.
[33:39] It's just, it's weird.
[33:40] I think it's a lot more mindfulness as well because where you were before where it's like you were making some money or it would be sometimes it'd be good, sometimes it's not, but you'd have money there to get by.
[33:52] There was no mindfulness around what you were doing.
[33:54] So now you're mindful.
[33:55] Yeah.
[33:56] It was crazy.
[33:57] You've got structure.
[33:58] Yeah.
[33:58] And something so small that you wouldn't think would be so big ultimately.
[34:02] Amazing.
[34:02] Yeah.
[34:03] Yeah.
[34:03] Because now what does retirement look like?
[34:08] I'm not going to say I can't wait because, you know.
[34:11] Yeah, we're not wishing life away.
[34:12] We're not wishing life away, but it's exciting.
[34:16] We have never been excited about our future.
[34:18] I had a joke.
[34:19] Remember my joke?
[34:19] You did have a joke.
[34:20] And I'll keep saying it.
[34:21] And I'll say it again.
[34:22] This will be the last time I'll say it.
[34:23] I used to say, don't worry for your retirement.
[34:26] I promise you when you're 90, I'll make a cake for you to have at work with your friends.
[34:30] Yes.
[34:32] Yeah, it's, and you know what, it might be a joke to you, but it was looking that way.
[34:39] No.
[34:40] But honestly, Rach, it's so exciting and the excitement doesn't go away.
[34:47] It doesn't.
[34:48] It's just because for so many years when you're looking for something and then it's shown and it's so simple and it's like,
[34:58] And you could actually do it?
[35:00] You could actually do it.
[35:01] Yeah.
[35:01] And we could actually do it.
[35:03] That was the exciting thing was like watching people and going, okay, well, oh, you're lucky, you know, you're so young.
[35:11] You've got plenty of time to do this.
[35:13] And then we sat down and we said, no.
[35:17] What are we going to do in the next 10 years if we do nothing and just sit back and do what we're doing now?
[35:24] In 10 years' time, when we're ready for retirement or to have a choice to retire, we won't be able to do it.
[35:29] Yeah, that's a beauty.
[35:31] It will be a choice.
[35:33] Now.
[35:33] And if we want.
[35:36] Now it will be a choice.
[35:38] Yeah.
[35:38] There's no doubts about it.
[35:41] Yeah.
[35:41] There's no doubt in our minds that the future's looking amazing now.
[35:47] Oh.
[35:48] And had you worked with any financial planners and any groups or anything like us before you met us over the years?
[35:55] So, yes, we're always looking, yes.
[36:00] And we have worked with someone for the last seven years, but, again, there was no structures.
[36:10] It was more about refinancing, working.
[36:16] Yeah, just bad advice for us.
[36:19] Yeah.
[36:20] For our situation.
[36:22] Not knowing.
[36:25] But, yeah.
[36:26] Ownership to that was because then we didn't, there wasn't the education to say, all right, if you do this and this and this, you need to do this.
[36:34] Yeah.
[36:35] To it.
[36:36] to establish these things.
[36:37] So to be fair, we were never shown how to do it.
[36:42] The only thing I think the only thing that was ever mentioned is, hey, guys, try to clear your credit cards.
[36:47] So that was… But not shown how.
[36:50] But know how.
[36:51] Yeah.
[36:51] Just go and do it.
[36:52] Go on.
[36:53] You need to… It was almost like… Cool.
[36:55] It's a great concept, but… Yeah.
[36:57] You need to do this.
[36:58] Well, okay.
[36:59] Okay.
[37:00] How do I do it?
[37:01] I've been trying for the last 30 years.
[37:03] How do I do it?
[37:03] And the credit cards are gone now?
[37:05] Yeah.
[37:05] They're all gone.
[37:06] Oh, and your story about the credit card.
[37:09] Yeah, come on.
[37:09] A little bit of a funny story for me because having credit cards for as long as what we have, you get attached to them.
[37:18] Yeah.
[37:18] It becomes part of you.
[37:21] And I, the last credit card.
[37:22] We said it was your safety net.
[37:23] That's your safety net going.
[37:24] That's exactly right.
[37:25] Someone's told you get rid of your safety net.
[37:27] That's exactly right.
[37:28] And trust we're going to build something else over here.
[37:30] 100%.
[37:31] And we actually, our, we did structure up that we paid one credit card off and then there was my credit card or our credit card.
[37:39] But yeah, they'll both.
[37:40] Um, and the thing was that we were paying it down, paying it down, paying it down.
[37:45] And we had a little bit left.
[37:46] And.
[37:47] we had a little bit in our savings as well.
[37:51] And our finance strategist said, why have you got this money sitting here?
[37:58] Just pay the card off.
[37:59] And we did.
[38:00] And I just didn't, Jerry, it was like, yes, of course, paid it off.
[38:05] But the funny thing about that was I still kept that credit card in my wallet.
[38:09] For how many months?
[38:10] Oh, it would have been a good six months.
[38:11] Was it at least cancelled?
[38:13] Yes.
[38:13] Cancelled?
[38:13] Oh, good.
[38:14] Yeah.
[38:14] We couldn't get rid of the physical card.
[38:16] Couldn't get rid of it.
[38:17] Yeah.
[38:18] That's crazy.
[38:19] And then one day I just, you weren't, I think.
[38:21] It wasn't that long ago.
[38:21] It wasn't that long ago.
[38:22] I just got it and I went.
[38:23] He goes, oh, look, I've still got this card.
[38:25] And I said, what?
[38:26] It felt good.
[38:26] Yeah.
[38:27] Just getting, cutting it up.
[38:28] Yeah, yeah.
[38:29] Yeah, really good.
[38:30] But, yeah, my daughter had done because with the card that I had and she had insisted and my son was insisting and said, get rid of it, get rid of it.
[38:37] I said, yeah, but.
[38:38] And then, yeah, but.
[38:40] And there's no buts.
[38:41] Cut it.
[38:41] I'm watching you.
[38:42] I need you to cut it.
[38:43] This is on Zoom because they're in Melbourne and we're in Cairns.
[38:46] And, of course, I'm kind of, and the shaking that was coming from me and I had to explain to him that I've actually cut the card as well.
[38:53] That was like, honestly, I thought I was going to stop breathing.
[38:56] Yeah.
[38:56] It's almost like trauma attachment.
[38:57] It was.
[38:58] It was silly.
[38:59] It was an attachment.
[38:59] Looking at it now, how silly it was.
[39:01] But I tell you what, those feelings are real.
[39:04] Yeah.
[39:04] So I cut that up and I said, oh, what am I going to do?
[39:06] How am I going to explain two ins?
[39:07] I've cut up the cards.
[39:09] So now we really don't have a buffer, you know.
[39:12] Well, that safety net was gone.
[39:13] Yeah.
[39:14] If we were going to fall, we're going to fall.
[39:16] And you had to trust this company, Infinity, was going to build something different for you as a safety net.
[39:21] Exactly.
[39:21] Which they did.
[39:22] Yeah.
[39:23] This is the thing.
[39:23] It was already in place, but we didn't quite understand that that amount of money sitting there.
[39:27] Yeah, that's right.
[39:28] You were doing it before you even signed up.
[39:29] Yeah.
[39:30] You know, thinking, well, we do have that.
[39:32] Yeah, but we don't want to touch that.
[39:34] That's money that we can look in our account.
[39:36] It's sitting there.
[39:37] We don't want to touch it.
[39:38] I don't want to use that.
[39:39] But we'll go pay 20% on a credit card.
[39:41] Yeah.
[39:42] Yeah.
[39:42] The mindset is there.
[39:44] Yeah, but, you know, old school, like really old.
[39:47] Old.
[39:48] Yeah.
[39:48] Yeah.
[39:49] Not at all.
[39:51] Not at all.
[39:51] Not that old.
[39:52] Yeah, but not anymore.
[39:53] Now we're totally, and honestly, if we hear anyone that's sort of still doing the things that we were doing, we will always say something.
[40:01] Yeah.
[40:02] I mean, we might get a, and we do, we sometimes get a little bit of a negative feedback or an excuse or a reason or whatever.
[40:09] But it doesn't stop us because if we can help anyone else, we definitely, definitely would do it.
[40:15] We don't want anyone to.
[40:16] to be experienced at what we've experienced or be stuck there even so especially having friends of our age um and we do we share a lot and we know we're not to but i'm still going to give it a go because if if there's something that might connect and and make a change or inspire them to do something anything you plant the seed anything i'm always planting seeds always it's my favorite thing to do
[40:42] Yeah, I just feel that, you know, people are watching us and as people do, they judge and they can see the excitement that comes out of us in just the daily activities.
[40:53] Yeah.
[40:53] It's because we're in a cult.
[40:54] Wow.
[40:55] Oh, yeah, that's right.
[40:56] That's right.
[40:57] It is.
[40:58] But, yeah.
[40:59] You know, and we don't mean to be.
[41:02] It's just we're in such a good place right now.
[41:06] And the feeling that we've got about our future is so exciting that it just radiance out of us.
[41:13] Yeah, you can definitely tell.
[41:14] So people love being around us.
[41:15] Yeah.
[41:16] Like, we need something.
[41:19] We want what you're on.
[41:20] And we're like, well, how about go and watch a free webinar?
[41:24] But – You're like, we're on the red and blue pill.
[41:26] Yeah, yeah.
[41:27] You know, like it's just – it's amazing.
[41:29] And that just – it's so good for us to hear that.
[41:33] So you're happier.
[41:34] To hear that we're good to be around.
[41:36] Yeah.
[41:37] You know Yeah Rather than Oh it's Oh they're going to talk about Their struggles You know their struggles And like what everyone Like you know The normal conversation Before infinity Was about How people Oh I've got a bill And I can't pay this Oh the government sucks The government sucks And the interest rates Are going up Well guess what
[41:55] We don't care anymore because it doesn't affect us.
[41:58] Like, honestly, we've got a structure and I can't believe I'm saying this, all we've got to do is the simplest thing and keep to that budget, that FFF.
[42:10] It's amazing.
[42:11] Amazing.
[42:12] So what's your interest right now?
[42:15] Who cares?
[42:17] I don't even know.
[42:18] Good answer.
[42:18] That wasn't a test, but good answer.
[42:21] Honestly, I'll have to go and check if you really want to know, but it doesn't matter.
[42:24] The reason I ask is because I wanted to know, does it feel just as good as when you had 1.99?
[42:29] It feels better.
[42:31] Yeah.
[42:31] It feels better because… Because you're paying more off the home loan.
[42:34] I can't believe it.
[42:35] Six months, Rach.
[42:36] Like, are you serious?
[42:39] Like, I get home and she's like…
[42:42] Have a look.
[42:43] Look.
[42:43] Look what our – look.
[42:44] I said, yeah, no, I saw it yesterday.
[42:45] It's not going to change.
[42:47] You know?
[42:47] Yeah.
[42:47] And she goes, yeah, it did change a little bit.
[42:49] I rounded it off.
[42:50] And it's like – and then, you know, the great thing is like, you know, a bill would come in and it's like, oh, yeah, did you pay the bill?
[42:58] Yeah.
[42:59] Yeah, I guess I did.
[42:59] It was like –
[43:01] It's never been like that.
[43:02] Yeah.
[43:02] It's always been a struggle.
[43:03] Yeah.
[43:04] Like trying to find and then the car breaks down and then you put off your service, which then allows your car to break down because you're not looking after it.
[43:11] It gets worse, yeah.
[43:12] Because you're going to wait till the next paycheck because that's how it was, paycheck to paycheck.
[43:16] Yeah.
[43:17] But now it's not like that anymore.
[43:18] Like it's there, we're sorted, we're fine.
[43:20] And that's six months, Rach.
[43:21] Like what happens in a year, two years, three years, you know, keep going.
[43:25] It's just crazy.
[43:27] And talk to me about the kids now being on board.
[43:30] Oh, my God.
[43:31] That's the best, honestly.
[43:32] So our son, the most sceptic person, we adore him.
[43:37] He's the youngest.
[43:37] He takes after me, I think.
[43:39] Your golden child.
[43:40] My golden child.
[43:41] I'm going to say that again.
[43:42] Yeah, the only boy.
[43:43] So, yeah.
[43:44] He was the one that was always sceptical about everything and anything.
[43:48] And he was the one that sort of pretty much.
[43:51] Well, he started it off.
[43:53] He was the first client of Infinity.
[43:55] Oh, that's right, yeah.
[43:55] But again, like I said before, my Elvis daughter, she's the one that discovered Infinity.
[44:00] Yeah.
[44:01] And so they had joined Infinity.
[44:04] Then they found out that they both got made redundant with their jobs and they both work in the same place.
[44:10] Yeah.
[44:10] And so they went ahead and decided, well, we had a 10-year plan to come up to Cairns with you guys.
[44:16] Let's push it forward.
[44:17] So they brought themselves a property.
[44:20] And of course, once they told Infinita, so we've already done all the steps that we were going to do for you.
[44:26] So really, you don't need us.
[44:28] And they actually got refunded back.
[44:30] Yes, they got a refund.
[44:32] The money was not kept.
[44:34] Did I say they got a refund?
[44:35] I'll say it one more time.
[44:36] Oh, that money back guarantee actually works.
[44:38] It actually works.
[44:39] And that's where my son, the skeptic, went, oh, they actually give you your money back.
[44:43] Well, then it's worth a try.
[44:44] If something isn't right, then I'll get my money back.
[44:47] And then he became a client as well.
[44:50] So he's been in it for 12 months, just a tad over 12 months.
[44:53] Him and his wife are just absolutely amazing.
[44:56] Yeah.
[44:57] And they're going to Europe, aren't they?
[44:58] They're killing it.
[44:59] Yeah.
[45:00] They're doing so good.
[45:01] I'm so grateful.
[45:02] They seem so proud.
[45:03] Yeah.
[45:04] Beyond words, beyond words, honestly, because all the things that we didn't get to do correctly, these kids are on it.
[45:12] They're on, they just know everything, but they do it.
[45:16] And that's the most important.
[45:17] It's one thing.
[45:19] Knowing what's out there and there's so much out there, but actually doing it and not just talking about it.
[45:24] Yeah.
[45:24] That for us is the best thing.
[45:26] And that's what we've always wondered with our kids.
[45:28] And we keep saying, it's not about the race.
[45:30] It's who you bring with you to the race.
[45:32] Yeah.
[45:33] And that was Dom, wasn't it?
[45:34] Yeah, Dom.
[45:34] Yeah.
[45:35] Dom was the oldest son.
[45:36] He's never ever about being the first in something or celebrating any of that.
[45:41] He was that child that when they...
[45:43] They did sports at school and he's running and his friend fell.
[45:46] He'll go back, pick him up, and they both run.
[45:49] And for us, we've got a winner.
[45:51] Yeah, that was better than watching him cross with it.
[45:55] And that's him.
[45:57] But it's funny to say that because he made me laugh.
[46:00] He rang me one day and he said, Dad, he said, you know, this infinity, you've got to do it.
[46:06] And I said, oh, why is that, son?
[46:07] Yeah.
[46:08] And he goes, I've investigated them for three months.
[46:10] The last three months I've been investigating them and it can't be that they – it just can't happen that there's no bad – no one's talking bad about them.
[46:20] There's no bad reviews.
[46:22] I said, oh, that's good, son.
[46:23] I said, I'm glad you've realised that.
[46:26] And just from that he became so confident that
[46:30] and I just saw a change in him as well.
[46:33] Yeah.
[46:34] From this kid that was always weary and didn't trust anything and sceptical and I suppose that's part of his job.
[46:41] But to become like that, the way he was, the excitement in him as well.
[46:46] Because what does he do for work?
[46:47] Well, he's in the police force.
[46:49] Ah, oh, very much like his job, yeah.
[46:51] Yeah, yeah.
[46:52] But, yeah, it was great.
[46:54] And then that's when we joined.
[46:59] After that, we were the second ones to become clients.
[47:02] And then my daughter, FOMO.
[47:03] Huge FOMO.
[47:05] Huge FOMO.
[47:05] She could not wait until they got their shots.
[47:07] They all have FOMO.
[47:07] Yeah.
[47:08] They had to get, you know, work settled.
[47:11] She had to get a job and obviously her husband had to wait a period of time to do that.
[47:16] But the moment, the moment that pay slip came in and they were in that three month, whatever it was that they had to wait, that was it.
[47:23] She was on board again and now she's excited that she's in it.
[47:26] So we're waiting on...
[47:28] Just one more to get into the middle child.
[47:30] One more to get into the cult.
[47:32] Yeah, one more, one more.
[47:33] The middle child now.
[47:34] But it's just made it so much better just knowing.
[47:38] That's all we talk about.
[47:39] That's all, yeah.
[47:40] We've got our conversations are huge because we talk about everything and anything.
[47:44] It's a family affair now.
[47:46] That's so cool.
[47:47] It is a family affair.
[47:48] And, well, the three of us that are in with Infinity have all got an investment property.
[47:54] So now hopefully the middle, Vanessa's our middle child, and it won't be a matter of if, it'll be a matter of when, then she could also join in.
[48:04] Yeah.
[48:05] But she already joins in anyway.
[48:06] Yeah.
[48:07] Yeah.
[48:07] She's already doing the structure.
[48:08] She's already changed a few things to do it.
[48:10] So she's, yeah, she's got it all ready to go.
[48:14] And they're following, they are following the steps.
[48:16] And the kids are amazing because her kids are constantly asking, you know, Mummy, is it on sale?
[48:21] Can we buy it?
[48:22] Oh, yeah.
[48:23] I love it when the kids get on board like that.
[48:25] Yeah.
[48:25] Yeah.
[48:26] And when they do come up to Cairns and I'll go out and get some ice cream, a box of ice cream for them from the supermarket, they always ask me, they say, oh, is that on sale?
[48:36] Because if it's not, you can't buy it.
[48:38] Mummy said you can't get it.
[48:39] Mummy said you can't buy it.
[48:40] So it's just great.
[48:41] Yeah.
[48:42] Does it give you assurance that they're going to be okay?
[48:44] Oh, 100%.
[48:45] Yeah.
[48:46] We do – like, you're always – as a parent, you always worry about your kids more than you worry about yourself and you hope that they can go get a better life than what – you know, I mean, our life wasn't terrible.
[48:57] Yeah.
[48:58] But financially, we needed some work.
[49:00] Yeah.
[49:01] But, yeah, it's great seeing that with them being so young and just thriving and excited.
[49:07] And just being good people, like the fact that there's so much negative out in the world that they just walk around as positive people.
[49:17] And like I said before, it just rubs off.
[49:20] It rubs off.
[49:20] People just want to be around them.
[49:22] And it's great.
[49:24] What else do you love about Infinity?
[49:27] Well, being from Cairns, we've just discovered that we have a Cairns community, infinity community family there.
[49:35] So we do a lot of catch-ups with them and not just them.
[49:38] We live in Cairns now, but we've gone to the Melbourne community.
[49:44] That's awesome.
[49:45] We've been to a REM.
[49:46] We've met a lot of people.
[49:47] Beautiful people.
[49:48] Beautiful people.
[49:49] Amazing.
[49:51] Likely-minded people.
[49:52] Imagine that.
[49:53] But just the help.
[49:54] People just want to help you.
[49:56] That's not normal.
[49:57] That's what's so cool about our Infinity Fan Facebook group.
[49:59] It's always, you know, somebody will put something in there to be like, you know, does someone have a recommendation or something?
[50:04] Can someone help me move?
[50:05] You know, and we all just rally around each other.
[50:08] It is amazing.
[50:09] It's great, you know.
[50:11] And I guess that's where people think that you've joined the cult because it's not out there.
[50:15] People live in misery and they're not even aware of it.
[50:19] And to have so many people around you that want to help, it's not normal.
[50:24] Yeah, I know.
[50:25] It's so true, which is sad.
[50:27] But I think Beck and G have just created something so special.
[50:30] Thank you, Beck and G. We can't thank them enough, seriously.
[50:33] Amazing people.
[50:33] Yeah.
[50:34] And like you are, Rach, and like everyone, the whole company is amazing.
[50:39] Yeah.
[50:40] Yeah.
[50:40] Amazing.
[50:40] Well, thank you.
[50:41] Well, before we wrap up, is there anything else you wanted to add?
[50:46] Yeah.
[50:49] No, I think, look, you know, I think we've said enough.
[50:51] I think, you know, like, again, we are still new at this.
[50:57] We don't know everything, but we're learning as we go.
[51:01] And it's something that's not.
[51:06] To be taken lightly because at the end of the day it is your future.
[51:10] Yeah.
[51:11] And not to be afraid of it.
[51:14] You've just got to trust.
[51:16] And what I've seen, I'm trusting.
[51:20] That's pretty much it for me to wrap it up.
[51:22] We sleep at night.
[51:23] You know, that's your job.
[51:25] You guys know what you're doing.
[51:27] Yeah.
[51:27] I can't tell you that if you're doing something wrong, I trust you 100%.
