## Transcript

[0:00] Like when you do the master cars, it's literally a light bulb.
[0:04] Your mind opens and you're like, oh my gosh, you actually find out, you know, this is, these people are genuine, you know, look at the results, look at what you can achieve.
[0:14] These people are there to help you.
[0:16] It's your choice along the whole way.
[0:19] Like they're not forcing you to jump.
[0:22] They're saying, how high do you want to jump?
[0:24] We'll help you.
[0:25] We will get you there.
[0:26] Yeah.
[0:27] You just, you need to do it.
[0:29] You need to block out all the noise and you need to make those steps yourself.
[0:34] And then it's a no-brainer.
[0:36] Money is the root of all evil.
[0:37] The fucking lack of it is.
[0:38] Not money, the lack of understanding money.
[0:41] When I put that into emphasis, when I realised our psychological effect and how it hit our family, I have to be in the fucking way.
[0:48] You are now watching the Money Mentor Podcast with Graeme Holmes.
[0:52] Graeme Holmes.
[0:53] Graeme Holmes.
[0:57] So for people who don't know you, can you tell me a little bit about yourself?
[1:02] Who are you?
[1:02] But the real version, not the LinkedIn or Instagram one.
[1:07] So we're Adam and Jodie.
[1:09] We live in Walgreens, New South Wales.
[1:12] We have two children, 15 and 17.
[1:17] We own our own business.
[1:20] So we work together, both in the business.
[1:23] What do you do?
[1:24] We own an appliance repair business.
[1:26] So, yeah, we've got a large sort of staff, a lot of staff, a lot of work, very busy.
[1:36] And how did you find Infinity?
[1:40] What were you financially, emotionally before finding Infinity?
[1:45] Like I thought we were going okay, as most people do.
[1:51] But then, yeah, once we found Infinity, which I discovered it about 18 months ago, Graham popped up on Instagram and I did the webinar, told Adam about it, and Adam was like, no, not doing that, another gimmick, another scam, no.
[2:10] So that shut that down.
[2:11] For how long?
[2:12] Yeah.
[2:13] Until a few months later, a friend of Adam's, we saw wearing an Infinity shirt.
[2:19] Oh, there you go.
[2:20] I said, that's the company.
[2:22] That's the same one that I told you about.
[2:24] I said, you need to talk to him.
[2:25] So I rang him straight away.
[2:27] Yeah.
[2:28] I said, how long have you been in Infinity for?
[2:30] He goes, how did you know that?
[2:31] I said, I seen your shirt when you sent me that snap.
[2:34] I said, why haven't you told us about it?
[2:37] He said, oh, how do you know about it?
[2:38] I said, well, we've been watching the, you know, Jodie did the webinar and ever since she asked me, it's been popping up on my Facebook page, you know, all the G videos.
[2:46] He's pretty persistent on Facebook and Instagram, isn't he?
[2:49] I said, oh, how come you haven't told us?
[2:51] He said, oh, we just got sick of telling people because everyone was negative and whatever.
[2:55] I said, well, what do you think about it?
[2:56] Jodie wants to do it, but I'm like on the fence.
[2:59] And he just said, just fucking do it.
[3:01] Yeah.
[3:01] So you won't regret it.
[3:04] So we did.
[3:05] We did the masterclass and haven't looked back.
[3:08] Good.
[3:09] Yeah.
[3:09] That's excellent.
[3:10] What happened during the masterclass?
[3:12] Was there like any...
[3:13] Any click, any moment that you were like, okay, that's definitely for us.
[3:16] Oh, the whole weekend.
[3:17] The whole weekend?
[3:17] Yeah, we tried to take it all in.
[3:19] Yeah.
[3:20] I suppose it was just relating.
[3:22] We really liked the way G come across, you know, straight down the line, no bullshit.
[3:28] But just his advice, just the simple advice, you know, it was just basic, simple advice that we could relate to.
[3:34] Yeah.
[3:35] And the rapid repay calculator, like seeing those numbers.
[3:39] This one?
[3:41] Yeah, those numbers of, you know, how much money we've wasted ourselves for the last 20 years paying off our mortgage.
[3:48] You know, we paid off $300,000 in 13 years and, you know, joining infinity.
[3:54] With 350 remaining, you know, we're going to do that in under three years.
[3:59] Yeah.
[4:00] That's what the rapid repay told us.
[4:03] Obviously, we're hoping to achieve it a lot sooner.
[4:05] But seeing those numbers in the master class for us, that was, oh, my God, let's sign up now.
[4:12] Quick, let's do it.
[4:14] Let's see if they accept us.
[4:15] Yeah.
[4:16] And we had, you guys had a bit of a rocky start, right?
[4:21] We did.
[4:21] Yeah.
[4:22] Yeah.
[4:22] You want to talk about it a little bit?
[4:24] What happened?
[4:26] So we signed up after the masterclass.
[4:28] We were pumped, ready to go, 100% in.
[4:31] That was January, huh?
[4:33] Yeah, January last year.
[4:35] We got contacted after we signed up.
[4:40] Given all the information we had, we had a financial property that we have bought through the business and we found out it was tied up with our home loan.
[4:50] Yeah.
[4:51] So...
[4:53] That was a bit of a problem, a bit of a stepping stone, something we didn't – well, they – Infinity didn't think they could get around.
[4:59] So they basically said to us in an email, we're going to refund your money because we can't help you.
[5:05] So Jodie's like, nah, that's not right.
[5:07] We can't just give up now.
[5:08] We can't just give up now.
[5:09] I love it.
[5:10] So Jodie sent an email back.
[5:11] Yeah.
[5:13] I wouldn't give them the bank details.
[5:14] Must have escalated it, yeah.
[5:16] Next minute, Travis is contacting his back and said, look, let's have a look at this.
[5:20] I think there's a way around it.
[5:21] Yeah.
[5:22] So we're like, well, it's in your hands.
[5:24] Go for it.
[5:24] Travis for the win.
[5:25] Yeah.
[5:25] Travis got us over the line.
[5:27] Yeah.
[5:27] The financial team, he was phenomenal.
[5:30] Honestly, had he not jumped in, we would have had to give them our bank details to do that refund, which we did not want at all.
[5:38] We just knew in our hearts infinity was where we needed to go.
[5:42] Yeah.
[5:43] Travis was just phenomenal.
[5:44] He really was.
[5:45] He worked with us for nearly six months alongside us, guiding us with what we needed to do.
[5:52] You need to ask this from the bank.
[5:54] No, no, you need to push back.
[5:55] That's not what we want.
[5:56] We need this.
[5:58] Yeah.
[5:58] Say this wording.
[5:59] He was, yeah, incremental in ensuring we got over the line.
[6:05] He really was.
[6:07] That's awesome.
[6:08] Yeah.
[6:08] That's because like, yeah, I think that story like for you guys, like, yeah, we're going to get in, being told no, Travis jumping in, getting you across the line.
[6:16] Yeah.
[6:17] So, so good.
[6:18] And especially where you are now as well.
[6:20] Yeah.
[6:21] You've achieved so much for over the past, what, eight months?
[6:24] Eight months.
[6:25] Do you remember the first time we met?
[6:27] Yeah.
[6:27] Yeah.
[6:28] It was, yeah, a week after Adam's birthday and a week before my birthday.
[6:33] It was bang in the middle.
[6:34] We're like, yep, why not?
[6:36] What was your first thought?
[6:38] Like once you realized that, you know, after, because the first couple of meetings you meet with your finance team, and then you slowly get introduced to your relationship manager.
[6:47] What was your thought that my role will be?
[6:50] Did you add anything that you were like, oh my God, he's going to be looking into our bank all the time, and we might be in trouble sometimes, or...
[7:00] Yeah.
[7:00] Yeah, we definitely did.
[7:01] Yeah.
[7:02] Definitely.
[7:02] Definitely did.
[7:03] We're both spenders.
[7:05] Yeah.
[7:05] Yeah.
[7:06] That was your money habits before.
[7:07] Yeah.
[7:08] And budget.
[7:09] Yeah.
[7:10] So in having to implement a budget, which I was very daunted by, and having to, you know, cut back on my spendings.
[7:18] Yeah.
[7:19] But that's when the mind shift changed.
[7:21] Yeah.
[7:22] You know, it wasn't you have to.
[7:24] It is, you know, we can give you the guidance.
[7:26] It's up to you.
[7:28] But if you do make these changes, this is what can happen.
[7:30] So it's that mind shift change for us.
[7:33] Yeah.
[7:33] Yeah.
[7:34] And that was easy.
[7:34] Then we're like, this is going to be easy.
[7:36] We can do this.
[7:37] Yeah.
[7:37] That's true.
[7:38] It was actually like, yeah, pretty easy.
[7:39] I remember everything.
[7:40] Yeah.
[7:41] It was like a penny drop for us though.
[7:43] Yeah.
[7:44] Oh, I remember we went from like a FFX, like how much was it at the beginning?
[7:48] 900.
[7:48] 900 or something like that.
[7:49] And I was like, yeah, all right, we're not going to go with that, but that's fine.
[7:52] Let's do the first meeting and we'll go on to the next one.
[7:56] You had like a big mindset shift, 100%.
[8:03] Do you think being held accountable helps?
[8:06] Yeah.
[8:07] Yeah.
[8:07] Definitely.
[8:08] Yeah.
[8:08] Keeps us motivated.
[8:10] Motivated?
[8:10] Yeah.
[8:10] Yeah.
[8:11] Keeps us driven.
[8:12] Yep, for sure.
[8:13] Definitely.
[8:14] Having check-ins with yourself, especially initially, because then you are being held accountable, so we would joke to each other.
[8:23] Oh, Alex is going to see that on the bank.
[8:25] Do you think he's going to approve on that?
[8:27] Oh, shit, probably not.
[8:29] Okay, well, do we really need it?
[8:30] And then we'd really think twice about our purchases.
[8:34] And now we don't even need to think twice because it's, no, I don't need it.
[8:37] No, you know what you're doing.
[8:38] I don't need it.
[8:39] It's a want.
[8:40] I don't need it.
[8:41] Well, I think there is someone else keeping you accountable as well.
[8:44] Yeah.
[8:45] Yeah.
[8:45] Yeah.
[8:45] Our daughter.
[8:48] There you go.
[8:49] She's really good for me.
[8:51] She, yeah, because we do a lot together.
[8:53] She now questions me every time I buy something and makes me feel bad, even if it is an actual need and we genuinely need it.
[9:00] Yeah.
[9:01] Yeah.
[9:02] How does that make you feel?
[9:04] Knowing that your children are now picking up on financial habits?
[9:09] that you started implementing and that potentially could be beneficial for them in the future.
[9:15] So good.
[9:15] Yeah.
[9:16] Yeah.
[9:16] Definitely.
[9:18] A good life lesson to learn.
[9:21] Yeah.
[9:22] And particularly.
[9:23] Proud parent moment.
[9:24] Yes.
[9:24] Where they teach.
[9:25] Well, my daughter in particular, our daughter in particular, she would like we do a lot together, so she would see me spending.
[9:34] So for her that was normal and that was okay and that's what you do.
[9:38] You know, you go downtown, you want it, you buy it.
[9:40] Yeah.
[9:42] Those are not good habits to instill.
[9:44] You know, for all she knows, that's normal.
[9:46] Yeah.
[9:46] And, I mean, anyone that wants to do that can do that.
[9:50] But for us with the mind shift of now wanting to pay off our mortgage quickly, you know, do we need to make that purchase?
[9:57] Is that a need or a want?
[9:58] Therefore, now my daughter is literally when we go downtown.
[10:02] Do we need that, mum?
[10:03] Do we actually need it?
[10:04] And I'm like, oh.
[10:07] You're right.
[10:08] Yeah.
[10:09] Okay.
[10:09] All right.
[10:10] And then it goes back on the shelf.
[10:12] And now I have to fight with when I actually do genuinely.
[10:14] When you really need something, you're like, no, let me buy that now.
[10:17] I do actually need to buy this.
[10:20] That's so good.
[10:20] Yeah.
[10:23] What's been the biggest change since you've joined us?
[10:29] The account structure, following the budget.
[10:32] Definitely the budget, probably to start with.
[10:34] Yeah, we were definitely both worried about that.
[10:36] Yeah.
[10:37] But a lot more comfortable now.
[10:38] Yeah.
[10:39] Knowing what the end goal is.
[10:44] But the budget isn't even really that daunting.
[10:46] No.
[10:47] Because the budget is what you make it.
[10:48] So you set your budget.
[10:50] So, you know, you want to have those luxuries, you want to have those, you know, go downtown and buy this, buy that.
[10:56] That's fine.
[10:56] That's your budget.
[10:57] That's your choice.
[10:59] We've chosen, obviously, to make those cutbacks and to have a tight budget.
[11:04] But for us, that works.
[11:06] We still enjoy, like we still will, you know, once a month go get takeaway as opposed to maybe twice a week we used to do.
[11:15] You know, now it's maybe once a month.
[11:16] Do we need it though?
[11:18] Oh, actually, we've got this at home.
[11:19] Let's just have this tonight, you know, instead of having that takeaway treat that we were leaning on.
[11:23] When you don't even think and you're like, oh, I don't want to cook tonight.
[11:25] I'm just going to go tap the card and do it.
[11:27] No, yeah.
[11:29] What do you think your bank account will say right now?
[11:33] Our bank account?
[11:34] Yeah, right now.
[11:35] Oh, yeah, it's loving it.
[11:36] It's loving it?
[11:37] We got a pop-up on my bank a couple of weeks back.
[11:42] Oh, yeah.
[11:42] Congratulations, 75% paid off.
[11:47] And I'm like, oh, wow.
[11:48] You know, that's a nice, rewarding feeling, that acknowledgement.
[11:52] FTB, that's what you sent me.
[11:54] You sent me the text.
[11:55] But you're not getting, well, I felt like running back and saying, well, you're not getting any more of my money, so.
[11:59] Yeah.
[12:02] No, I love it.
[12:03] Like you actually like, yeah, maybe I was like super happy when you sent me that message and you follow right after like, oh, look what the bank sent me.
[12:08] And I was like, look, how good is that?
[12:11] So far ahead already in eight months.
[12:15] And was there any moment of doubt along the way?
[12:19] Any moment where you were like, actually, maybe that's not doable.
[12:23] Maybe we aim too high.
[12:25] Or was everything pretty clear?
[12:27] We were a bit daunted when, with the first round with the properties.
[12:30] Mm-hmm.
[12:31] That was definitely, when we got back to the room that night, we're like, what the fuck have we done?
[12:35] Like, can we service this?
[12:38] Yeah, we're going to have enough money.
[12:39] Yeah.
[12:40] Have they put us in a hole that we can't get out of?
[12:42] But then you're like, no, we've got to trust the people, you know.
[12:45] Trust the process.
[12:46] Trust the process.
[12:47] They wouldn't do it if we couldn't afford it or couldn't service it.
[12:50] Yeah, correct.
[12:50] They've done the math.
[12:51] As long as we stick to our budget, keep doing what we're doing, we're going to be fine.
[12:55] Yeah.
[12:56] So once we get over that, we're fine after that.
[13:00] And at the REMS, having the testimonials of other clients at REM to bounce off them, you know, they put your thoughts at ease.
[13:09] you know, those doubts that you may have.
[13:11] Like this was our first REM and, you know, we had those doubts because it also was three properties.
[13:17] Like not only are you going to.
[13:19] And you didn't give much away.
[13:21] Before we went.
[13:22] Oh, no.
[13:22] I'm not here to give anything away, guys.
[13:24] That was a big surprise.
[13:26] No, no, no.
[13:27] I don't want to ruin the surprise as well.
[13:30] When you see what's doable, I want you guys to go to REM in a free mine, going there freely and meeting with your wealth strategies that will explain you everything, show you the property, and then you guys decide.
[13:41] Yeah.
[13:42] Yeah.
[13:43] But it was great.
[13:44] It was absolutely phenomenal.
[13:46] Like we told you we had such an incredible weekend.
[13:48] I know.
[13:49] Can't wait to go back to another one.
[13:51] Yeah.
[13:51] But to bounce off other people, like-minded people, they're in the same situation as you.
[13:56] Yeah.
[13:57] They understand all of it.
[13:59] And so it really put our mind at ease.
[14:01] Like we literally were doubtful for a good, like, few hours.
[14:05] That was it.
[14:06] And then we're like, nah.
[14:08] We've signed.
[14:09] We're in this.
[14:10] This is what we want.
[14:11] You know, they're there to guide us.
[14:13] It's our choice.
[14:15] We're all in.
[14:15] Your journey.
[14:16] Yeah.
[14:16] And then we just had the best weekend.
[14:19] Yeah.
[14:19] Like we really did.
[14:20] And the testimonials on stage, like they're not just paid actors on the stage.
[14:24] Like they actually come in the crowd and you can talk to them.
[14:27] They're genuine people.
[14:28] And we're like, this is great.
[14:29] You know, like they tell you the story, you learn things.
[14:32] It's amazing.
[14:33] Yeah.
[14:34] Other people that you caught up with since REM or did you meet like other infinity clients?
[14:40] Yeah.
[14:40] Yeah.
[14:41] We did.
[14:41] Yep.
[14:41] Caught up with them at the Christmas party.
[14:43] Yeah.
[14:44] Another event.
[14:44] Yeah.
[14:45] That was fun as well.
[14:46] The Christmas party.
[14:48] Yeah.
[14:48] Such a big night.
[14:49] Yeah.
[14:50] And obviously social media, you know, following other Infinity members, yeah, being friends, the community, the Facebook community, you know, that's really inspiring and encouraging as well.
[15:02] Yeah.
[15:03] And to hear other people's stories, like, yeah, it's really uplifting.
[15:07] Yeah.
[15:07] That's really good.
[15:08] Do you, you guys, do you put much on the Infinity fan page or?
[15:14] we comment on other people's.
[15:16] We don't post a great amount about ourselves.
[15:20] But, yeah, definitely encourage and support other members.
[15:23] Encourage and support.
[15:24] Yeah, because it's amazing.
[15:26] It is.
[15:26] And we're all on the same or similar path.
[15:28] Correct.
[15:29] I mean, you all want to achieve probably the same goal.
[15:35] Yeah.
[15:35] Which is getting rid of that bad debt.
[15:37] Yeah.
[15:38] And, yeah.
[15:40] Set a good future for yourself.
[15:41] Yeah.
[15:42] Which you're certainly doing.
[15:44] And whilst everyone's journey is unique, we all have the same end goal.
[15:49] Yeah, correct.
[15:51] I think it's – do you think it's nice to be able, like, to chat about, like, those financials and those goals with other like-minded people from the community?
[15:59] Yeah.
[15:59] Yeah.
[16:00] Because you're also not being judged.
[16:02] Correct.
[16:02] Because they're on the same journey.
[16:04] Yeah.
[16:04] You feel comfortable.
[16:05] Like, it's –
[16:07] But before infinity, we wouldn't talk about it.
[16:09] It was a to-do subject, you know, like you don't want to tell people how much is in your bank or how much you owe to the bank.
[16:15] But talking to other clients, like you're not scared to talk about that kind of stuff, you know.
[16:21] And when you do, you get other ideas that they've done and more different advice.
[16:25] They're not judging you.
[16:26] Yeah, they're not judging you.
[16:27] They're not telling you it's a cult or it's a scam.
[16:30] Yeah.
[16:32] Yeah.
[16:33] Yeah.
[16:35] In your own words, what's the best part of being an Infinity Client?
[16:40] The support, the community, the events.
[16:42] The education.
[16:44] The education, yeah.
[16:45] And the guidance.
[16:47] Yeah, we draw a lot from that.
[16:50] Yeah.
[16:50] Knowledge is power.
[16:51] Correct.
[16:52] And to be educated and just to be open, just to have your mind open to, you know, this is what you're doing now.
[16:59] This is what you can achieve.
[17:02] you're like, wow, is that what you really see for us?
[17:05] Like that's drive for us.
[17:07] That's, yeah, really.
[17:09] Then once you make the step, you've got that motivation, you've got that support.
[17:13] Yeah.
[17:14] from everyone, you know, like it's not like you just sign up and everyone just gives up.
[17:18] You don't hear from everyone.
[17:19] You've got the constant support.
[17:21] I know.
[17:21] You can ask questions, whatever.
[17:23] There's answers there.
[17:24] If they don't have the answers, they'll find the answers, you know, and the monthly meetings are great because you can become a little bit complacent, so it keeps us motivated, you know, and we love the podcast.
[17:36] We listen to the podcast, so that keeps us motivated.
[17:41] Love it.
[17:41] Yeah.
[17:42] Love it.
[17:42] Love it.
[17:44] I love the fact that you mentioned the education part.
[17:47] Yeah.
[17:47] Because I remember a few months ago, you were like already like bouncing back ideas with me.
[17:51] I was like, oh, maybe the car, maybe that one we can sell.
[17:53] And we still are.
[17:54] And I know, I know, I know.
[17:55] But I loved it because it's, those are ideas that you brought up.
[17:59] Yeah.
[18:00] You started having that, you know, that mindset.
[18:04] You could definitely tell the shift, but, like, you had that mindset change and you were like, oh, I think maybe we can do this.
[18:11] Maybe we can do that.
[18:12] You get a bit more hungry.
[18:13] Yeah, a lot.
[18:14] You do.
[18:15] Yeah, I just need to keep telling myself it's a marathon.
[18:19] It's not a sprint.
[18:21] Yeah.
[18:21] Yeah.
[18:22] It's definitely a marathon.
[18:25] We don't want to rush the process.
[18:26] You still have to go through all the steps.
[18:30] I know we had a bit of a lot of like in December, November last year.
[18:33] It's probably the last time I will challenge you ever.
[18:37] Oh, my gosh.
[18:37] Well, don't listen to the podcast with Rachel.
[18:39] Oh, yeah?
[18:40] She's just challenged.
[18:41] Did she just challenge you as well?
[18:43] All right.
[18:43] She doesn't know.
[18:46] To give a bit of a context, when was it?
[18:49] November?
[18:49] Yeah.
[18:50] November, I would say.
[18:51] No, end of October.
[18:53] End of October?
[18:54] Yeah, end of October.
[18:55] And you told me the home loan will be seated under $200,000 by Christmas.
[19:00] Yeah.
[19:01] And even me looking at the numbers, I was like, whoa, that's a bit of a big stretch right there.
[19:06] And what did you do?
[19:07] Smashed it by end of November.
[19:09] You smashed it until next year.
[19:10] Yeah.
[19:12] Loved it.
[19:13] Yeah.
[19:13] Loved it.
[19:14] I was like, we can do that.
[19:16] Yeah.
[19:16] Challenge accepted.
[19:17] Challenge accepted.
[19:19] Yeah.
[19:19] I remember asking you, like, what bank are we robbing now?
[19:22] Yeah.
[19:24] Yeah.
[19:26] What would you tell someone that's on the fence of joining?
[19:30] Infinity.
[19:31] Infinity.
[19:33] Do the webinar.
[19:34] Yeah.
[19:34] Honestly, that's where you start.
[19:38] But the education, we got so much from the masterclass.
[19:41] Like when you do the masterclass, it's literally a light bulb.
[19:45] Your mind opens and you're like, oh, my gosh.
[19:48] You actually find out, you know, these people are genuine.
[19:51] You know, look at the results.
[19:53] Look at what you can achieve.
[19:55] These people are there to help you.
[19:57] It's your choice along the whole way.
[20:00] Like they're not forcing you to jump.
[20:02] Yeah.
[20:03] They're saying, how high do you want to jump?
[20:05] We'll help you.
[20:06] Very true.
[20:06] We will get you there.
[20:07] Yeah.
[20:09] You just, you need to do it.
[20:10] You need to block out all the noise and you need to make those steps yourself.
[20:15] And then it's a no-brainer.
[20:17] Yeah.
[20:17] When we did the masterclass, Adam and I were literally like, oh, my God, what have we done for the last 20 years?
[20:23] We should have jumped on board.
[20:25] We should have sent a bit of paper we had.
[20:26] It was probably three or four pages.
[20:28] We're like, oh, work out how much we spent on coffees for the year, how much beer.
[20:32] Like, you know, it looks disgusting on the bit of paper, you know.
[20:36] Yeah.
[20:36] You're like, wow.
[20:37] And that's just money that we've wasted just on immaterial things.
[20:42] Correct.
[20:42] Not to mention the money that we've donated to the banks of,
[20:46] for 20 years just on interest.
[20:49] Like that's actually disgusting.
[20:51] It's almost double what we first borrowed.
[20:53] Yeah.
[20:53] Correct.
[20:54] Yeah, we talked about that last night.
[20:56] Insane.
[20:57] Yep.
[20:57] Do you miss anything from your old financial habits?
[21:01] No, not at all.
[21:02] Definitely not.
[21:03] Not missing out on anything.
[21:04] You're still having fun.
[21:06] Still doing things with the kids.
[21:08] Yeah.
[21:08] Yeah.
[21:09] Well, we were meant to go on a pretty luxurious 20-year wedding anniversary holiday this year to the Maldives.
[21:18] All but booked.
[21:19] It literally all but was booked.
[21:21] But something inside of me was saying, just wait.
[21:24] And it was a $20,000 holiday.
[21:25] And it was like, you know, we deserve it.
[21:27] We've worked hard.
[21:28] We deserve it.
[21:29] We then came across yourselves.
[21:31] And I hadn't paid the deposit.
[21:32] I don't know why.
[21:33] I just must have had an inkling.
[21:35] Didn't pay the deposit.
[21:36] As soon as we joined Infinity, I looked at Adam and I said, there goes our holiday.
[21:41] That mind shift of we don't need to spend that money on a holiday.
[21:48] We can still go and celebrate, have an amazing holiday, but we don't need to spend $20,000.
[21:53] At $20,000 on our mortgage, we're that little bit closer to being debt-free.
[21:58] Correct.
[21:58] Yeah.
[21:59] Just that mind shift.
[22:00] Yeah.
[22:01] And that was our choice.
[22:02] Yeah.
[22:03] Yeah, let's be patient.
[22:05] Two years, we finish paying it off, we can go on a $20,000 holiday.
[22:08] Oh, twice a year.
[22:10] Easy.
[22:10] What's two years?
[22:11] Yeah.
[22:11] It's like, yeah, it's such a short time.
[22:14] Yeah.
[22:14] But the mind shift shift of we deserve it, we work hard.
[22:18] Yeah, we do deserve it.
[22:19] Yeah, we do work hard.
[22:21] But we don't need to do it right now.
[22:23] No.
[22:24] Let's smash down this debt.
[22:26] Yeah.
[22:27] Focus down a couple of years.
[22:28] Yeah.
[22:29] And then happy days.
[22:31] Yeah.
[22:32] Is there...
[22:34] Any financial tips that you wish you knew before?
[22:39] Write down on paper what you're spending.
[22:41] Yeah.
[22:42] Write it down.
[22:43] Visually, sir.
[22:44] Yeah.
[22:44] Because that'll open your eyes to how much money you're actually wasting.
[22:48] Mm-hmm.
[22:50] Um...
[22:51] And, you know, listening to someone like Jay, like he just says it in the simple, easy to understand form that you don't get overwhelmed by it.
[23:01] It's just and people, it just opens your mind up to think, oh, my God, it's so simple.
[23:04] Like so easy.
[23:06] Maths don't lie.
[23:07] No.
[23:08] Right.
[23:08] When you put the numbers in front of you and you're like, oh, my God, that's how much I'm spending.
[23:12] And you're like, yes, that's how much you have left from your pay at the end of the week.
[23:15] That's how much you're putting towards some stuff that you don't need.
[23:19] And see, like everyone says, thought I had a budget.
[23:22] My budget was, you know, we need X, Y, Z to pay for this bill, this bill, this bill.
[23:28] You know, say that's $500.
[23:30] So that's my budget.
[23:31] That's all I need for bills.
[23:33] The rest of our pay, we can just spend.
[23:36] Whereas, again, that mind shift, you know.
[23:41] Why are we wasting all this extra money?
[23:43] You know, we could be pumping that onto our mortgage, which is now what we're doing, which is why we've been able to achieve what we've been able to achieve by just shifting our mind, paying down the mortgage.
[23:56] It makes you feel good when you splurge on money and buy things, but where we are today, that makes you feel a whole lot better than splurging on shit.
[24:05] Yeah, a lot more confidence.
[24:07] I love it.
[24:09] You guys...
[24:11] I've done an incredible journey so far.
[24:13] Been with us with what, eight months, pretty much halfway down on what's left on the home loan.
[24:20] We got investment property.
[24:23] And I will not challenge you to pay down the home loan this year, even though that's probably what Rachel did, right?
[24:30] No, but thank you so much.
[24:31] Thank you so much for being incredible clients.
[24:35] You guys are a breeze to work with.
[24:37] And is there anything that you would like to add to get the people to jump on board with us?
[24:43] Or just to reassure or... Just do it.
[24:46] Yeah.
[24:48] Just start.
[24:49] Start with the small changes.
[24:50] Then it won't seem as daunting.
[24:52] You know, listen to the webinar.
[24:54] Then if you're still interested, listen to the masterclass.
[24:57] You won't have any doubts after the masterclass at all.
[25:00] You have an amazing team behind you when you join.
[25:02] You're not thrown in the deep end and you're left to tread water on your own.
[25:06] The team is phenomenal.
[25:08] They guide you.
[25:09] They encourage you.
[25:10] They educate you.
[25:11] You know, there's a community behind you that you can talk to other people, you know, if you've got any doubts or questions that you think you can't ask the Infinity team or you want to just speak to someone else in the same situation.
[25:23] It is so easy, but the support that you have, it's phenomenal.
[25:27] Yeah, and everyone's so open.
[25:29] So, like, no one's hiding anything.
[25:30] You can see, physically see results.
[25:32] Yeah.
[25:33] So, what else do you want?
[25:34] Oh, yeah, you could see them this morning again, like seeing, like, you know, Megan, Jeremy.
[25:38] Yeah.
[25:39] Mr. Stephen, Mr. Craig as well.
[25:40] Yeah.
[25:40] Yeah.
[25:41] They're all clients.
[25:43] And obviously you can see the result now.
[25:45] Yeah.
[25:45] Love it.
[25:46] But thanks so much for your support and your encouragement.
[25:48] Ah, come on, stop it.
[25:49] No, we were reflecting.
[25:51] It's your work.
[25:52] You guys are doing the hard work, not me.
[25:54] No, but you're encouraging us.
[25:56] You're keeping us going.
[25:57] You're motivating.
[25:58] You're driving us.
[25:59] Accountability, yeah.
[26:00] Yeah.
[26:02] But for us, we need that.
[26:03] If people don't have that, you could easily lose track of things.
[26:07] That's true.
[26:08] You know, go off the garden path.
[26:09] Yeah.
[26:10] It's really important to have a good team behind you.
[26:12] Yeah.
[26:13] It really is.
[26:13] We believe that in business as well, to have the right team.
[26:17] Correct.
[26:17] You're only going to succeed.
[26:19] Correct.
[26:20] So, yeah, it's a great credit to yourself, to the Infinity team, to everyone behind the scenes.
[26:26] It really takes a village.
[26:28] Well, like G said, you know, like you only want, like, good people working here.
[26:33] Yeah.
[26:33] If you're a good person, you will want the best for your clients, which makes it a lot easier.
[26:38] Yeah.
[26:39] No, thank you so much.
[26:40] Thanks for coming and joining us today.
[26:42] I was so happy to get you guys on the podcast.
[26:45] So happy that you guys accepted.
[26:46] Of course.
[26:47] Very, very, very happy.
[26:48] And like I told you before, like, yeah, you guys were my, I just told you today, but you guys were my first client.
[26:52] So it's a very, very, very special one.
[26:54] Yeah.
[26:55] Very happy.
[26:56] Please.
[26:56] We could do the journey with you.
[26:58] It's a real pleasure.
[26:59] Let's see where it takes us.
[27:01] Yep.
[27:01] Oh, well, we're going to be mortgage free very soon.
[27:04] Hopefully.
[27:04] That's where we're going.
[27:05] Thanks, Alex.
[27:08] No, no problem.
[27:08] Thanking you.
