## Transcript

[0:02] A listener production.
[0:06] Wilhelm, this is our remembering project.
[0:08] Yep, where a random day of the year is selected and we look up the run sheets from all our shows from across the years to find any we did on that day.
[0:17] Over 20 years, that's about 2,500 shows and roughly 26,000 talk breaks.
[0:22] Today, we pick one.
[0:24] One talk break only and try to remember what happened based on what was written down on the run sheet from that day.
[0:29] As always, we've got podcast Mike with us here for any technical stuff.
[0:32] Hello.
[0:32] Mike, what date was randomly chosen today?
[0:35] It's the 19th of October.
[0:37] OK, that's Andy's go then.
[0:38] Let's kick it off and find out what years Andy will take us back to and we'll see if we remember anything from those years.
[0:46] This is Hamish and Andy's Remembering Project.
[0:52] Thick, thick show.
[0:55] October 19th, popular day for the Hamish Nanny Show.
[0:58] We're right in the thick of the year.
[0:59] Come back refreshed from September holidays.
[1:01] Too early in the year to go on the Christmas break.
[1:04] So you're required to be on air.
[1:07] We don't know whether we did a show in 2006.
[1:09] We're still looking for that archive.
[1:10] Who knows?
[1:11] We haven't had a single piece on yet, have we, from 2006?
[1:13] I think we're just going to leave it for this round.
[1:15] If we ever come back to doing this again, we'll have 2006, maybe 5-4.
[1:19] I'm actually, I'm not, I'm interested to listen to stuff from back then, but I have by no means do I think it would be of any quality.
[1:26] Because, I mean, it's a 50-50 for us listening to this.
[1:29] Like, I kind of go, 50% of me thinks there's a chance that I go, okay, that's something that went to where, that I'm proud of.
[1:36] Yep.
[1:36] From back in the day.
[1:37] And then there's times you're like.
[1:38] Then there's times you go, oh, that's not good.
[1:40] Yeah.
[1:41] But it's still interesting to hear academically to go, isn't that interesting?
[1:45] I don't remember that at all, but I clearly did it.
[1:47] And I'm glad I don't.
[1:48] I know why I haven't remembered it, but I clearly did it and I was there on that day and it's nice to go back to it.
[1:53] Shows in 07, 09, 10, 12, 15, 16, 17.
[1:55] Here we go.
[1:55] What have you picked?
[1:57] What hasn't made the cut?
[2:02] We had an argument in our Cool Boys band.
[2:04] That could be any day of all of 2017.
[2:06] And the whole journey of us forming that band was just to argue with each other.
[2:11] Bouncing around a bit, 2009, we had Chopper Reid on and got Richard Reid on with him.
[2:18] Did we?
[2:18] So Richard Reid is the flamboyant celebrity gossip.
[2:23] He's very high energy, over the top.
[2:25] Morning show, morning kind of breakfast TV show type guy.
[2:28] Basically just adds high voltage energy to low voltage gossip to try and, I guess, lift it into some semblance of interest.
[2:36] And did a magnificent job.
[2:37] He did.
[2:38] He always has.
[2:38] And he's like, Richard Reid's one of those guys where he's like, he is happy to just do the work.
[2:44] Like he's out there.
[2:45] He never seems bored of it.
[2:48] Now, maybe that's me bringing my own personal baggage to how I would feel if I had to be the celebrity gossip reporter.
[2:54] But he's just like, he's just always, he's out there, he's hustling and he's getting stuff.
[2:58] And I thought with Richard Reid, his best move is, oh, well, well, let me tell you.
[3:05] Yeah.
[3:06] Every answer starts like that and you're like, oh, he's got something.
[3:10] He's got something here.
[3:11] Someone's gone off the record with Richard on something here.
[3:15] But we're not going to listen back to Chopper Reed, a famous murderer.
[3:19] We had Chopper Reed on a lot for a murderer.
[3:22] Yeah.
[3:24] He's probably the murderer with the most appearances, unless there's something you're not telling us, Mike.
[3:28] Yeah.
[3:29] Chopper reads probably the murderer with the most appearances on the show.
[3:33] It seems weird that we had him on so often.
[3:37] I've seen his name in the run sheets a few times.
[3:39] I mean, very famously, he sort of did a bit with my grandma, Moosey.
[3:43] Yes, which hopefully that day comes up.
[3:45] I'd love to listen to that bit.
[3:45] Yeah, she did step up to him and go.
[3:47] And she basically told him he had rocks for brains and we… She wasn't a fan of his.
[3:52] And a wise move from Moosey, perhaps going, why is my grandson getting this murderer on the show?
[3:59] But I remember though at the time thinking it was funny but also just in the back of my mind going, hey, Moosey, can you stop offending the murderer?
[4:08] Yeah.
[4:09] Might just put an unmarked car outside Moosey's house for a few nights to make sure everything's okay.
[4:14] 2010, Johnny Knoxville was on.
[4:17] It wasn't for Jackass, was it?
[4:19] Might have been for… It wasn't for Dukes of Hazzard.
[4:21] It was something else.
[4:22] No, no, no.
[4:23] It was 2004 or something.
[4:24] Yeah, yeah.
[4:25] But it might have been Bad Grandpa.
[4:27] Days?
[4:27] I feel like it wasn't even… There's something in between that.
[4:29] Yeah.
[4:30] I feel like it was him trying to be a dramatic comedy actor rather than the hidden camera stuff, but I can't remember.
[4:36] No, I reckon there was one junket they did, which was like the third Jackass film or something.
[4:41] Right.
[4:41] There was a cash grab.
[4:43] Right.
[4:43] There was like a Jackass reloaded or re-edited or something.
[4:46] Okay.
[4:47] I mean, I fully say that, fully aware of what we're doing right now.
[4:50] Yeah.
[4:53] But it was something like that.
[4:54] It was like a 10th anniversary or something.
[4:56] In 2012, we were broadcasting from Darwin, having just finished filming the Australian Caravan of Courage leg of Australia versus New Zealand.
[5:05] That would have been our last show of the trip.
[5:07] Yep.
[5:07] I remember that day extremely clearly.
[5:10] Because we, the Australian Caravans of Courage, you know, the first one we had left to right, we went across the Nullarbor.
[5:17] So the second one, we really were off the grid for like 10 days.
[5:21] Yeah.
[5:22] And we were just basically in the desert.
[5:24] Yeah.
[5:24] We were in the desert for 10 days and we came out of that like dirty, wild, unshowered, just a bit feral.
[5:31] We came out of the desert and we got to Darwin and we were like this is
[5:35] It was like we're in New York.
[5:36] We just couldn't believe.
[5:38] We're like, this is huge.
[5:39] There's options for shops to go to, showers, pools.
[5:44] And this is the third time we'd done Australia because this was when we were broadcasting, I assume a Friday, because we had to broadcast live having done – we went from the top of Queensland down and did a shoehorn
[5:57] a horseshoe when we filmed the Australian Caravan of Courage.
[6:02] So it was that?
[6:03] Yeah, 2012 Australia versus New Zealand.
[6:05] We've come back from England, having done gap year there.
[6:08] Sorry.
[6:09] And then did Australia versus New Zealand.
[6:11] The day I remember the clearest was when we got the second Caravan of Courage.
[6:15] We went bottom to top just in the caravan and we got out of the desert and we were just filthy.
[6:19] Yeah.
[6:19] So gross.
[6:20] So gross.
[6:21] And then we went to a car wash. We were like, okay, we had to get the kit cleaned.
[6:26] And me and Haydo, who was filming with us, who was my housemate at the time, was also shooting stuff for us.
[6:32] It was a bikini cut wash and we… Enjoyed that.
[6:36] Well, no, we didn't know what was going on.
[6:39] They were terrified.
[6:42] Fantastic.
[6:43] Did you choose the car wash?
[6:46] We honestly pulled in there.
[6:47] We're like, okay, great.
[6:48] We needed to get the – I don't know.
[6:50] We needed to get the car cleaned for some reason.
[6:51] Why wasn't I there?
[6:53] I think you – sorry.
[6:54] The one day I don't drive and I don't get to see the – okay.
[7:00] Hey, 2015 is where I want to jump to now.
[7:02] We're going to small little grab.
[7:05] We're going to play –
[7:07] Because this is what I find interesting about doing radio and ideas is you're really grateful for sponsors.
[7:12] Some are sticky.
[7:13] Yeah.
[7:13] And some aren't.
[7:14] Yes.
[7:15] But we had the race that slows down the nation.
[7:18] Oh.
[7:19] This wasn't the day, but it was coming up.
[7:21] People don't know.
[7:22] We got a track in Wedderburn, which was central Victoria, and we tried to put on the greatest horse suit race of all time.
[7:31] I think we succeeded.
[7:32] You know, several thousand people came to watch people in horse suits run a lap.
[7:38] Of a greyhound track.
[7:39] Of a greyhound track.
[7:41] But the reason we call it the race that slows down the nation because it was the Monday before the Melbourne Cup.
[7:45] So it was like this is where you're applying the brakes.
[7:48] Yes.
[7:48] Yes.
[7:48] The nation hasn't stopped, but you're decelerating the nation.
[7:53] In 2015, we announced the official drink of the cup.
[7:59] Can you remember what sponsor came on for the official drink?
[8:03] I certainly didn't.
[8:07] I want to say, first of all, they were great.
[8:09] Yep.
[8:09] Yep.
[8:10] Because I do remember them being terrific.
[8:13] It was amazing.
[8:15] I know it wasn't Maduri.
[8:16] No.
[8:17] That was a different part of our life.
[8:19] Mm-hmm.
[8:20] Same with Rickadonna.
[8:21] Rickadonna was another alcoholic partner that we had along the way that was good fun.
[8:27] Thirsty Camel always, as a general store, we're always just like, whatever you guys want to do, the camels, gotcha.
[8:33] We had Bailey's on for the… Oh, Bailey's.
[8:36] They were a little trickier to work with.
[8:38] For a sports thing we were doing.
[8:40] No, it wasn't a sports thing.
[8:41] That's what they were upset about.
[8:43] There was no reason for us to call Bailey Australia's number one sports drinker.
[8:48] That just became a funny thing that we thought was funny to say to each other to go, if you've been for a run, come home, slam a litre of Bailey's.
[8:57] Like take it out, put it in your bike, water bottle, take it out on a ride.
[9:01] It's Australia's number one sports drink, Bailey's.
[9:04] And we just thought it was so funny to keep saying it.
[9:06] And then they were like, this is terrible.
[9:08] We don't want this at all.
[9:10] And we were like, but we're saying it heaps.
[9:11] Like we're saying that they're like, yeah, that's the wrong thing.
[9:14] product.
[9:14] They didn't like it.
[9:14] They didn't like it.
[9:15] And probably rightly saying, but geez, it was good fun.
[9:18] We had to do an official apology, I think, didn't we?
[9:19] We did have to do an official apology to Bailey's.
[9:22] And then I think it was very hard to make the official apology not a joke.
[9:26] Like to go, you know, Bailey's not Australia's number one.
[9:31] Australia's number one sipping.
[9:33] Then they had a really specific thing they wanted us to say, didn't they?
[9:37] Yes, we had to read it because we were doing a party, actually.
[9:40] It was an at-home party.
[9:41] It was something like have Australia's favourite sipper or something.
[9:47] Have a sip of night.
[9:48] Spall's drink was better.
[9:49] Spall's drink was better.
[9:50] Certainly rolled off the tongue better.
[9:52] I reckon it was a cider.
[9:54] Mike, do you remember?
[9:56] You weren't even on the show, but do you remember?
[9:57] I do remember.
[9:58] This proves that advertising works.
[10:00] This is good, Mike.
[10:01] I remember because before I worked on your show, I worked at Dan Murphy's and the representative from this company came in and I was asking her about you guys.
[10:10] Really?
[10:10] Yeah.
[10:11] What was it then?
[10:11] Can I say it?
[10:12] It was Brown Brothers.
[10:13] Yes, it was.
[10:14] And it was a, I think it was some kind of pink cider.
[10:17] It was the new sparkling, because Brown Brothers do wine.
[10:19] It was a cider that tasted like sparkling.
[10:22] I think that was the angle for it.
[10:23] You're spot on.
[10:24] Let's have a listen.
[10:24] It was, yeah, because they were like making the leap into cans or whatever.
[10:29] The 19th of October, 2015.
[10:33] We said that we'd give all the horses some free drinks.
[10:36] That was the goal.
[10:37] That was unsponsored until now.
[10:40] Thank you so much.
[10:41] At least over the weekend, not only were people finalising horses, but we were sifting through what can only be described as one application to be the drink sponsor at the end.
[10:51] But what an application it was.
[10:54] Brown Brothers Grape Tree Ham, they're inspired by cider grown on vines.
[10:58] Delicious drink.
[10:59] They are going to be the drink of the carnival.
[11:01] The official drink of the race that slows down the nation.
[11:05] The nation's handicap.
[11:08] We'll be wrapped with that, Jack.
[11:13] Not only the official drink, you get a sound effect they used on Hey Hey on Saturday when someone had won the funny photos contest.
[11:22] So a huge week for them and a huge week for us.
[11:25] Brown brothers can't believe it.
[11:31] I didn't remember Jack doing that.
[11:33] It was the kind of stuff that Jack would do from Toronto, like late, too loud, not the right sound effect.
[11:41] He was... That is a sound effect classically for a competition winner.
[11:46] He was never engaged.
[11:47] So today, that would have been a day where he was trying.
[11:50] Yeah.
[11:52] So he's like going, I'll go to the sound effect.
[11:54] Hang on, I'm listening to this.
[11:55] I'm going to show these guys.
[11:57] I'm...
[11:59] I can be one of those guys that presses the buttons and creates a wall of sound behind what they're talking.
[12:03] Okay, so that's...
[12:05] Okay, thank you, Jack.
[12:13] And I reckon it's that kind of thing, that kind of interaction with Jack that made him go, well, what's the point?
[12:18] I'm not trying.
[12:20] I'm not trying.
[12:20] And then he's just.
[12:22] Now he's the Jack we know.
[12:24] Now he's the Jack we know.
[12:25] We know and love, I suppose.
[12:26] Oh, we know and love.
[12:27] And now he just sits going, oh, well, what's the point?
[12:29] We know and like.
[12:30] That's the guy we know and like.
[12:34] That we know?
[12:37] I love him as a person, but sometimes he's skills behind the thing.
[12:40] I don't love them.
[12:43] That's grape.
[12:43] Yeah, grape tree.
[12:45] My brother's grape tree.
[12:46] Tell you what, though.
[12:47] Cider made from grapes, I think, was their thing.
[12:49] And we did love it, actually.
[12:51] It was amazing.
[12:52] And we drank a lot of it because the reason… We're saying the horses.
[12:55] We're saying the horses is they're humans.
[12:57] They're people in horsesuits, men and women in horsesuits.
[12:59] That's what we're saying.
[13:00] We need to get a drink for the horses.
[13:02] And I remember the day was pretty hot and the horses themselves had a VIP tent section and some bales of hay.
[13:10] So like the stables and so just people walking around in half horse suits drinking that.
[13:14] Great fun.
[13:15] Grandbrother stuff.
[13:16] Chilled, delicious.
[13:19] Not Baileys.
[13:19] No.
[13:20] And that brings us to 2007 and there was something written down that I was like, oh, my gosh, I remember this.
[13:30] And I remembered it being how weird live radio can get.
[13:35] It says…
[13:38] The guy that left a note on Hayme's girlfriend's car.
[13:43] So I'm talking about a romantic note.
[13:45] Oh, yeah.
[13:46] I remember this.
[13:48] And this started something for us that went over two days.
[13:52] So I've broken the rules slightly.
[13:54] It started on a Friday.
[13:56] We pick it up on a Monday and I've grabbed a little bit from either side.
[13:59] But it's fascinating.
[14:00] I haven't heard it back.
[14:02] But the story, the way I remember it, is fascinating.
[14:04] Jump into the sponsorship stuff and we'll grab it after this.
[14:08] So, Haim, I think your girlfriend at the time, Anna, had a note left on her car.
[14:15] I do remember this.
[14:16] This was, I think it was at the front of my house.
[14:19] It was, yeah.
[14:19] And I think we had the idea to call him, like pretending to be a girl to see what his moves was.
[14:26] And after – or we read them – I don't want to give away the ending here, but I also remember whether it was this or some other story finding out that he was a bit of a serial note leaver.
[14:34] That's exactly it.
[14:35] That's how I remember about it.
[14:36] So it was a fascinating move.
[14:37] I think it gave us a glimpse into going, oh, here we go.
[14:39] This is a guy's move.
[14:40] Yeah.
[14:40] He just, like, leaves this.
[14:42] Because it sounded –
[14:45] Yes.
[14:45] Like it was his normal template for leaving a note?
[14:48] From memory, Hayne read the note and we had a flood of females ringing the station and then going, I've got that exact same note.
[14:58] So we found out that this person had been doing it all over town.
[15:02] What I've got for you is from Monday, which is where we recap everything.
[15:06] I haven't heard this and back to it.
[15:07] But I think this will take us through exactly how it all painted out.
[15:10] I'm hopeful of it anyway.
[15:11] Great.
[15:13] The 19th of October 2007.
[15:17] The whole case began with a note.
[15:20] What does the note actually read?
[15:21] Well, ladies and gentlemen, I've re-found the note.
[15:24] The note actually reads, Hello, how are you?
[15:26] Walked by you in the car park and think you're a very attractive lady and would like to take you out for a drink?
[15:32] Question mark.
[15:34] And there's his Josh, and it gives his number.
[15:36] He's got the handwriting of a seven-year-old that's just got their pen licence.
[15:39] Oh!
[15:40] It's cursive, it's got speed loops, and his grammar's bad.
[15:45] So, suck on that chop.
[15:49] So we tried to entrap him, with Andy pretending to be a girl.
[15:53] You left a note on my car, like, ages ago?
[15:57] Mm-hmm.
[15:59] saying that you thought that I was quite attractive and would I like to go for a drink?
[16:04] No, I think you've got it all mixed up.
[16:06] It says Josh in your phone number here.
[16:08] No, look, someone's playing.
[16:10] Someone's put my number down there because I certainly wouldn't do that.
[16:13] Dead end.
[16:14] But we smelt rats and we're running out of leads so we had to blow our cover and talk to Rick himself.
[16:20] Do you have any idea what this would be about, Rick?
[16:23] I have no idea.
[16:24] Rick, are you sure you're not Josh?
[16:25] It's OK if you are.
[16:29] Is Rick, back in his single days, did Rick used to put his name down as Josh, write numbers on girls' windscreens and use that as your cover story?
[16:38] No, that's not what I do.
[16:42] Really, Rick, because your girlfriend's testimony says something completely different.
[16:46] Hello?
[16:47] Daynor.
[16:47] Daynor, this is a scandal that has captured Australia's minds.
[16:52] Did Rick meet you by leaving a note on your windscreen?
[16:59] Yes.
[17:00] Whoa!
[17:02] And your brother's eyewitness report didn't help you out much either.
[17:06] Robbie, you are Rick's brother.
[17:08] That's correct.
[17:09] Robbie, this is big.
[17:12] Is this the kind of thing that Rick would do?
[17:14] He certainly does.
[17:18] On many an occasion.
[17:20] So he is a note leaver.
[17:22] He is.
[17:22] But he lied to us.
[17:23] He said he didn't leave notes.
[17:26] Well, that was...
[17:27] I mean, he did quite a bit, but since he's met Gay Novel, he hasn't done it.
[17:34] Rick, it sounds to me like your mouth's writing cheques, but your ass has got insufficient funds to catch them, hombre.
[17:40] It's Spanish.
[17:41] We gave Rick one last chance to confess.
[17:45] Do you want this to go to a handwriting test or would you like to submit a guilty plea right now?
[17:51] I want to be equipped to something I didn't do.
[17:54] So you still say that you're not Josh?
[17:57] No.
[17:58] You leave us no choice, Rick, if that is your real name.
[18:02] So stay tuned as the results of the handwriting analysis are next and we take you inside the mind of a note leaver.
[18:12] The envelope's being passed over to Hamish.
[18:15] He opens it up.
[18:16] God, this is exciting.
[18:18] It's a difficult envelope to open, actually.
[18:19] Rick sits on the line waiting.
[18:22] There's the original note.
[18:23] The original note's inside.
[18:26] The next note, the handwriting submitted.
[18:28] Hang on a sec.
[18:30] What?
[18:31] Hang on a sec.
[18:31] Before I even read the scientist's note, this is the handwriting sample from Rick.
[18:37] Do you want to hear it?
[18:38] Yeah.
[18:39] It's a letter to us.
[18:40] Yes.
[18:41] Well, that's not fair.
[18:42] God, this is like the amazing race.
[18:46] Hamish and Andy, well, boys, I confess it was me who left the night on the car over six months ago.
[18:52] May I remind you, my beautiful girlfriend of six months, Gaynor, and I did not have a night on her car when we met at the Pink concert.
[18:57] It was love at first sight.
[18:59] I love Gaynor, dearly, so it's good to say...
[19:01] So all is good to say sorry to Sarah, who was the girl that you pretended to be.
[19:04] Yes.
[19:05] From me.
[19:06] He admits he did leave the night.
[19:08] Unbelievable.
[19:09] Rick is Josh...
[19:10] Rick are you there?
[19:12] Yes Rick You were Josh Weren't you?
[19:18] Yes.
[19:19] Oh, yes!
[19:21] Yes!
[19:21] Justice is served!
[19:23] Yes, great confession.
[19:25] I can't believe you've confessed here, and that's why... What does the scientist say?
[19:28] I'm just reading the note from the scientist.
[19:30] The scientist says it should be evident from the sample provided that Rick is Josh.
[19:35] Oh, Rick.
[19:35] We've wasted a professor's time.
[19:37] It doesn't matter.
[19:38] I've got goosebumps, Rick.
[19:40] Well, I mean... Rick, now, so you admit...
[19:44] You're a night leaver.
[19:45] No, I'm not a night leaver.
[19:46] That was a long, long time ago.
[19:48] That's true.
[19:48] And I left.
[19:51] Rick, how many did you leave?
[19:53] Three.
[19:53] Those other girls, I have no idea.
[19:55] But, Rick, they had the same... No, I'm not even going to go there.
[19:58] Rick, they had the same phone number.
[19:59] Fuck.
[20:00] Oh, look.
[20:02] Rick, let me ask you this.
[20:03] In the note you left on my girlfriend's windscreen, and great, excellent tasting girls, by the way.
[20:07] She's terrific.
[20:09] You called yourself Josh.
[20:10] In other notes, other pieces of evidence tended to the show, notes that you've admitted to writing, you called yourself other things.
[20:16] Corey, one time.
[20:18] Why do you use a different name?
[20:21] in case some angry boyfriend rang up wanting to rip my head off.
[20:24] That's a good reason.
[20:26] How can the secrets behold the secrets of the note lever?
[20:30] You'd be unlucky if a boyfriend rang up.
[20:32] I mean, because, to be honest, you're just doing an innocent thing.
[20:35] In fact, it should be a compliment to the boyfriend, Ham.
[20:38] I know you're a little snitchy.
[20:39] No, look, Rick, I saw the note, and we didn't want to rip your head off.
[20:43] Initially, when we called, we were just going to see if this method worked.
[20:46] I mean, how are you to know that the girl's taken?
[20:49] Has it worked, Rick?
[20:50] I mean, in the letters that you have left in the past, how many... Well, I've only left three.
[20:54] Okay, three that you're admitting to.
[20:56] Three that you've admitted to.
[20:57] How many callbacks have you got in the three that you've admitted to?
[21:01] I struck out every time.
[21:03] Well, we called back.
[21:05] But yes, it wasn't.
[21:06] So you struck out every time.
[21:07] So you've never landed a date at all from a letter of the ones that you're admitting to.
[21:13] No.
[21:13] No.
[21:14] Even though we did have a girl ring up and say that she went out on a date with you, but it didn't work out.
[21:21] No.
[21:22] What if we got you two in a room?
[21:24] We can't open this up again.
[21:26] Out of a line-up, Rick.
[21:28] We can't open this up again.
[21:29] Rick, just admit.
[21:32] Are you sure you didn't go on a date with a girl?
[21:35] No.
[21:36] I...
[21:36] I, uh... Is there a line-up?
[21:39] No.
[21:40] I, uh...
[21:40] There was one girl...
[21:42] You did go out on a date.
[21:44] We did go out.
[21:46] That was... Long ago.
[21:48] That was a long time ago.
[21:49] That was a home run.
[21:50] It was a home run?
[21:52] Yeah.
[21:53] Now there's four that you're admitting to, which is fine.
[21:54] No, no.
[21:55] I said three.
[21:56] That was one of the three.
[21:57] Okay.
[21:57] Don't put words in my mouth.
[21:59] Okay, Rick, but you said you'd struck out on all of them.
[22:01] And then you said you got a home run.
[22:03] Now, I'm not familiar with baseball, but I know you can't get a home run without actually connecting back to ball.
[22:08] Rick, we don't want to incriminate you any further, and we know it's all above board.
[22:13] You're in a beautiful relationship now.
[22:14] And we're going to send you a lovely restaurant called Fog.
[22:17] You and Gaynor, your partner, just to say thank you, because I'm sure it almost got you in a bit of hot water, the whole revelation of you being a note leaver.
[22:25] But now that this is all done, if, God forbid, you were ever a single man again, would you go back to note leaving?
[22:32] No, I won't be single.
[22:34] Yeah, you won't be single again?
[22:35] Well, that's exciting.
[22:37] Thank you so much, mate, for the last few days of being part of the Hamish Nanny Show.
[22:40] It has been truly amazing.
[22:41] Rick, just before you go...
[22:43] Yes.
[22:44] How many did you really get?
[22:47] Three.
[22:48] Three.
[22:48] He's stuck right.
[22:49] We're not opening it up again.
[22:50] No, 300.
[22:51] That wasn't.
[22:51] 300.
[22:52] No.
[22:53] Thank you so much, Rick.
[22:54] The witness is dismissed.
[22:56] You are free to go from the court.
[22:58] Thank you.
[22:59] Unbelievable, Haym.
[23:00] What a show.
[23:01] And, Rick, what a champion for playing along with this.
[23:04] He definitely left more than three.
[23:07] In my expert novice opinion, I would put the figure at about 25.
[23:13] Why was I so intent on pinning this guy to the wall?
[23:17] I mean, he'd done a very nice thing coming on the show.
[23:20] Yeah.
[23:20] Definitely one of those ones you listen back and personally I'm going, hey, let him go.
[23:24] Let him go, yes.
[23:26] It's one of those.
[23:27] He's talked about it.
[23:29] He's obviously confessed to the level he wants to confess to.
[23:32] Yeah.
[23:32] You don't actually work for the police.
[23:36] I'm acting like I'm trying to get a conviction because I'm running for district attorney next year.
[23:40] I'm like, this is going to change my life.
[23:41] It's strange listening because we know this guy's lying.
[23:45] And so you want him to confess that.
[23:48] You're sort of going, for the people listening to this going, but how come he won't?
[23:51] go the whole way here because the story does keep changing.
[23:54] You sort of, I guess, you feel like you're doing it for them.
[23:56] It certainly does feel at times like we're putting a bit bullying.
[23:59] We're putting real pressure on him.
[24:01] Got the arm against the throat going, confess, confess, we know you did it.
[24:05] Which can make me feel uncomfortable a little bit.
[24:07] But what else is also hilarious is you think you can undo all that by sending someone to a restaurant.
[24:13] I mean, that really dates it.
[24:14] I reckon we were Melbourne only there as well because that restaurant, Fog, was in Greville Street in Paran.
[24:20] I don't think it's still there.
[24:21] No.
[24:21] I mean, not a precinct I've been to for – that street I haven't been to for a while.
[24:27] But I don't think Fog's still there.
[24:28] But I remember our boss used to be quite keen on – Yes, dropping a few Fogs.
[24:33] Get some Fog mentions out there.
[24:36] I think we did a few station dinners there.
[24:39] I think it's 2007, so it would have been national.
[24:41] It wouldn't have mattered.
[24:43] Let's just make sure Fog gets a mention.
[24:45] Well, it was like, I mean, we might come across this in another show, but it was like every year, because we broadcast out of Melbourne, but we were a national show.
[24:52] So we would spend a lot of our time travelling around the country wanting to do it from other states, right?
[24:56] Like wanting to travel around and be in other states because, you know, obviously we loved every single person that listened across Australia, but predominantly we were out of Melbourne.
[25:04] Yeah.
[25:04] And then once a year, because we happen to be in that station and that environment, Fox FM it's called in Melbourne, we would have to, for a reason that made no sense to Adelaide, Perth, Bresi, Northern Territory, Tasmania, we would be broadcasting from the Victorian ski fields because Fox FM, that's how they got their station ski trip, by doing the show from Mount Buller.
[25:26] They get to take all the sales team up there.
[25:27] Everyone goes up, clients go up.
[25:29] But part of the deal is, but you guys, you know, you do the show from Mount Buller and it's good for Mount Buller and it's good for Fox FM.
[25:34] You're right, not a single employee turned to us and went, hey, thanks very much for getting us the ski trip.
[25:41] Because we were like, but someone driving home to Cottesloe in the afternoon, how does this make any sense for them?
[25:50] Like, oh, like 3,000 kilometres to my right, the guys are at Mount Buller.
[25:55] This doesn't have anything to do with Perth.
[25:58] So true.
[25:59] I remember it.
