[0:07] Speaker 2: I'm so like, Ted is with my schedule. Like if
[0:10] Speaker 2: I say I'm doing this, I'm doing that. If it
[0:12] Speaker 2: don't start at this time, that's understand. This fucking guy
[0:15] Speaker 2: showed up for me nor five minutes later.
[0:16] Speaker 3: Yeah, I was pissed.
[0:19] Speaker 1: I'm like, I'm like that.
[0:22] Speaker 2: L stupid, don't say good morning or nothing.
[0:29] Speaker 3: I was like, I was late, and they kick him
[0:31] Speaker 3: out of the meat. The wall comes out of the copy,
[0:33] Speaker 3: splashes and hits me in the eye. I'm like, this
[0:35] Speaker 3: motherfucker man come out.
[0:41] Speaker 4: On this episode of Uninterrupted the Shot podcast, Lebron James,
[0:46] Speaker 4: Maverick Carter, and Paul Rivera are joined by Draymond Green.
[0:51] Speaker 5: People talk about NBA writers that ship ain't nothing. Guess
[0:54] Speaker 5: what if Michigan State sucked this year and Michigan sucked
[0:57] Speaker 5: this year, the Michigan and Michigan State game, It's still
[1:01] Speaker 5: going to be.
[1:01] Speaker 6: A fucking battle.
[1:02] Speaker 1: PJ.
[1:03] Speaker 7: Tucker.
[1:04] Speaker 8: So it's a big game we're playing in and we
[1:06] Speaker 8: getting ready to do jump ball walk out and I
[1:08] Speaker 8: him up and he looked at me and he's.
[1:09] Speaker 6: Like really serious.
[1:13] Speaker 9: And Lisa Leslie, I think me being the middle child
[1:17] Speaker 9: made me the fighter, the survivor like I take direction. Well,
[1:21] Speaker 9: I'm a follower, but I'm also a listener because I
[1:23] Speaker 9: have a younger sister to take care of.
[1:25] Speaker 1: Check it out.
[1:34] Speaker 10: Drayvon's wedding. His wedding was like a party. It was
[1:38] Speaker 10: so much fun. I told him he had to get
[1:39] Speaker 10: married every year. It was I'm still checking my milk.
[1:45] Speaker 1: Oh Man, you didn't get an InBank.
[1:47] Speaker 5: No chance this man was showing. He would have been
[1:51] Speaker 5: like k he ain't showing up. Of course I invited KD.
[1:57] Speaker 1: He didn't.
[1:57] Speaker 11: He would have not shown up when you like what
[2:00] Speaker 11: you think the percentage was he made show or not show.
[2:03] Speaker 7: The way he sold it to me, I thought he
[2:05] Speaker 7: was him.
[2:06] Speaker 6: It wasn't just a man slip.
[2:10] Speaker 7: So I mean told me he was gonna come in
[2:15] Speaker 7: there and find him a girl.
[2:17] Speaker 5: Oh some of that next year and you were like,
[2:21] Speaker 5: come have a flood, have ad it and he a
[2:23] Speaker 5: good time?
[2:24] Speaker 1: Yeah, and it ain't.
[2:26] Speaker 10: Bron has always said there was people in his way
[2:28] Speaker 10: that he'd be able to do it again. He would
[2:30] Speaker 10: rejigger the list. Do you already feel like that three
[2:32] Speaker 10: weeks later? Already already there's people like I wouldn't invite
[2:39] Speaker 10: these for sure.
[2:39] Speaker 2: Man, there's definitely people that was at our wedding. They
[2:43] Speaker 2: definitely no way to get an invite.
[2:45] Speaker 7: Why why?
[2:47] Speaker 6: Yes?
[2:47] Speaker 3: I mean one. I mean you know you.
[2:49] Speaker 2: Got certain people that just show up just for the spectacle,
[2:51] Speaker 2: of course, you know what I'm saying. And then also
[2:54] Speaker 2: me personally, I've just grown to a whole different strategphy
[2:58] Speaker 2: in life that we just don't see life to say,
[3:00] Speaker 2: especially not ten years later, two years ago, I wasn't.
[3:03] Speaker 2: I wasn't. My pants is way bigger than this, My
[3:07] Speaker 2: shirt is way bigger than this. Like I wasn't talking
[3:09] Speaker 2: in my chain, I wasn't drinking like you know, sophisticated chance.
[3:15] Speaker 1: That's what you make as you evolved.
[3:17] Speaker 9: You have friendships and relationships for a season because everybody's
[3:20] Speaker 9: not supposed to go with you. But as you evolved,
[3:22] Speaker 9: you recognize and you grow and you learn like not
[3:25] Speaker 9: that something's wrong with that group.
[3:27] Speaker 1: And it's not like bougie, you grow.
[3:28] Speaker 9: Like we're not talking financial, but it's just mentally you're
[3:31] Speaker 9: spiritually grow you You're you're more mature.
[3:34] Speaker 3: That's what they would say is an acquired taste.
[3:37] Speaker 8: I'm like, you invited, but it's like, ain't they play
[3:45] Speaker 8: like you like, what do you what are you doing here?
[3:53] Speaker 6: I know you.
[3:53] Speaker 5: We caught a few people right before the weather that
[3:58] Speaker 5: was coming for that thing, so it was like, oh,
[4:02] Speaker 5: I know this person is gonna be there. I know
[4:03] Speaker 5: that person the spectacle of it. And they were uninvited
[4:07] Speaker 5: because we figured it out, sniffed it out, and then
[4:11] Speaker 5: I caught hell and it ended up like fuck your
[4:15] Speaker 5: star studying wedding. I said, Ah, that's why you're not coming.
[4:22] Speaker 3: I'm gonna I'm gonna go even deeper. Mav No.
[4:25] Speaker 7: We had two wedding crashers.
[4:29] Speaker 6: But that wasn't even invited at all.
[4:30] Speaker 2: That no one knew that the movie, no one. And
[4:36] Speaker 2: this is how this is how they get pictures. This
[4:39] Speaker 2: is how they got sniffed out. Had a celebrity friend
[4:42] Speaker 2: walked by and they called them their real name that
[4:45] Speaker 2: none of us call them. I want to say the name,
[4:47] Speaker 2: but they called everything you you walked buying it?
[4:50] Speaker 3: But what's up?
[4:53] Speaker 2: So you come to me like, hey, bro, you know
[4:56] Speaker 2: these niggas? I'm like, why was he like things? Just
[5:00] Speaker 2: call me Paul.
[5:03] Speaker 3: Ain't nobody everybody call me Paul? You know?
[5:06] Speaker 2: So that's how I got That's how I got sniffed out.
[5:08] Speaker 2: So security go over to them and say we all
[5:11] Speaker 2: with the like, oh, we were him. And when when
[5:15] Speaker 2: they say him him turned around at the same time,
[5:17] Speaker 2: was like hell, hell, I walked out with a plate
[5:22] Speaker 2: and everything.
[5:27] Speaker 1: That's my That's my favorite movie though.
[5:29] Speaker 3: I'm telling you that's you for a couple of hours.
[5:33] Speaker 10: Thinking of talking about celebration. We're gonna deal with one
[5:35] Speaker 10: thing really quick. Where we are just cut the ribbon
[5:39] Speaker 10: for your fucking building. We're into the Lebron James Innovation
[5:42] Speaker 10: Center on Nikes Campus. By the way, how do you
[5:48] Speaker 10: feel like you just cut them? You've obviously been here,
[5:50] Speaker 10: But it was like the first it was thinking that
[5:52] Speaker 10: like jay Z was just put out the universe, like
[5:55] Speaker 10: we're just some corner boys with the corner office. You
[5:58] Speaker 10: a corner boy with your own building. This is your
[6:01] Speaker 10: whole office. How does that feel?
[6:03] Speaker 2: I mean, this has been three years in the making
[6:04] Speaker 2: or three years in coming.
[6:06] Speaker 6: It's been twenty years in the making.
[6:07] Speaker 3: Well yeah, yeah, I had I think you're right, you're right,
[6:11] Speaker 3: you're right.
[6:11] Speaker 2: I mean I came here last year and obviously because
[6:15] Speaker 2: of the way of the world and everything that's going on,
[6:18] Speaker 2: but there was no employees here. Maybe one or two
[6:20] Speaker 2: employees was here to maybe open the door, but I
[6:23] Speaker 2: brought my mom, I brought out my wife, my kids,
[6:25] Speaker 2: you know, some friends, my best friends from it, from
[6:28] Speaker 2: the hometown. They all came and seen it. That was
[6:30] Speaker 2: super super duper emotional, super dope. Today was just another
[6:35] Speaker 2: form of like how dope it is to be able
[6:37] Speaker 2: to be here with the energy of all the employees
[6:39] Speaker 2: that's like had a hand into it, you know, has
[6:42] Speaker 2: you know, worked for the brand for either as long
[6:45] Speaker 2: as I've been here or before that, or got on
[6:48] Speaker 2: board a few years ago. So to walk down you know,
[6:52] Speaker 2: the heel to day and to slap five with all
[6:55] Speaker 2: the employees here, man, I'm like, the fuck are you
[7:00] Speaker 2: doing here?
[7:01] Speaker 3: How you get here? It doesn't make sense to me.
[7:04] Speaker 2: Bro, They don't be cause I like every time something
[7:07] Speaker 2: like this happens and I'm able to like try to
[7:09] Speaker 2: appreciate it, it just literally takes me back to like
[7:13] Speaker 2: the hood, bro, and the grind and being I'm underprivileged
[7:16] Speaker 2: and a mom, single parent and only child. Like I
[7:20] Speaker 2: guess the first thing I'm walking out, so you know,
[7:22] Speaker 2: I might be smiling from the outside and I'm very
[7:25] Speaker 2: genuine telling everybody thank you, but I'm thinking, like, how
[7:29] Speaker 2: the fuck I get here?
[7:30] Speaker 3: Bro, Like I.
[7:31] Speaker 1: Don't I want to add something to you. Ron.
[7:33] Speaker 9: Listen, I've been with Nike for probably thirty years now
[7:38] Speaker 9: as an athlete, coming here.
[7:41] Speaker 1: And you as a black man.
[7:44] Speaker 9: And what you represent, it's probably hard for you to
[7:47] Speaker 9: even process because you're living now. Whereas for us on
[7:50] Speaker 9: the outside as fans, we appreciate you and the fact
[7:55] Speaker 9: that you've created this legacy and open up so many
[7:57] Speaker 9: doors for children and little black boys that look like you,
[8:00] Speaker 9: like being in America. Sometimes we all know and we've
[8:04] Speaker 9: heard how tough and difficult it is from the neighborhoods
[8:07] Speaker 9: that we come from. We're the first generations who are
[8:10] Speaker 9: earning millions and trying to understand how to create wealth.
[8:13] Speaker 9: You've done it, and we cheer and feel so elated,
[8:17] Speaker 9: not just for you, but for all of us, because
[8:19] Speaker 9: when one of us make it, it feels like we've
[8:21] Speaker 9: all made it in some way. So thank you, so
[8:24] Speaker 9: mung that you've done that we do. We are so
[8:28] Speaker 9: proud of you and thankful to be able to be
[8:30] Speaker 9: in your building.
[8:31] Speaker 3: Thank you so much.
[8:32] Speaker 2: I think if I could just piggyback off one thing
[8:34] Speaker 2: that that stuck out of everything that you just said,
[8:38] Speaker 2: to be able to give us a lane of opportunity.
[8:44] Speaker 3: You know, we've gone so long with not being heard.
[8:49] Speaker 2: Like one of my biggest aspirations, one of my biggest
[8:52] Speaker 2: goals was like, how to can I create voice and
[8:57] Speaker 2: power for us as black creators, as black people, not
[9:02] Speaker 2: only to create the lane, but also to be able
[9:05] Speaker 2: to gain and own our lane. That's what it's all about, man.
[9:10] Speaker 10: I was thinking about it earlier when you were cutting
[9:12] Speaker 10: the ribbon. Nike is like the holy growth for athletes,
[9:16] Speaker 10: and they put your name on the building. Do you
[9:19] Speaker 10: feel like this is one of your greatest accomplishments is
[9:21] Speaker 10: an athlete?
[9:21] Speaker 3: Do you think?
[9:22] Speaker 2: I mean, you remember in my younger days, I used
[9:24] Speaker 2: to walk around here and we used to go to
[9:25] Speaker 2: bowl to train. You know, we used to be in
[9:27] Speaker 2: me and hamm We used to be in Michael's building,
[9:30] Speaker 2: you know, doing meetings and things of that nature. And
[9:31] Speaker 2: I used to always walk through those hallways and have
[9:34] Speaker 2: these meetings or work out on those courts, and I'd
[9:36] Speaker 2: be like, I'm getting me one of these. I'm yeah,
[9:41] Speaker 2: I was like, I'm getting me one of these. First
[9:43] Speaker 2: time I stepped on campus. First time I stepped on campus,
[9:46] Speaker 2: I was seventeen, eighteen years old. I was like, bron,
[9:49] Speaker 2: you got to get one of these, and how how
[9:51] Speaker 2: are you gonna how are you going to be different
[9:55] Speaker 2: but inspiring at the same time than all the other athletes.
[9:58] Speaker 2: You know, everyone has their own building because of what
[10:00] Speaker 2: they contributed to not only the sport but also you know,
[10:04] Speaker 2: outside of the sport. But I wonder I wanted to
[10:06] Speaker 2: have one.
[10:06] Speaker 1: Man.
[10:07] Speaker 11: By the way, just to be clear, most people say
[10:09] Speaker 11: like I want to get me one of these, like
[10:10] Speaker 11: a watch.
[10:14] Speaker 6: Of these.
[10:15] Speaker 8: That is crazy, bro, And this is because and been
[10:18] Speaker 8: playing against each other since room was like.
[10:20] Speaker 3: For sure great.
[10:22] Speaker 8: So for me, like walking up, it's like it's ill
[10:24] Speaker 8: because I'm like a freshman year. It was like six
[10:27] Speaker 8: freshmen to go to Nike Camp Indian like that, Like
[10:31] Speaker 8: literally we go.
[10:33] Speaker 3: Back there for like same here. Yeah, you're dealing with
[10:38] Speaker 3: this for years.
[10:42] Speaker 6: Let me do a question for sure, TJ. The gig
[10:45] Speaker 6: is sucking up. Man. Today we're done. You're revealing how
[10:49] Speaker 6: the fun because text me one.
[10:53] Speaker 3: Day you're not giving up his plug I'm giving his
[10:55] Speaker 3: plug up video.
[10:56] Speaker 10: I have a video on my phone from him in
[10:59] Speaker 10: his closet of my sneakers?
[11:02] Speaker 6: Did you get my sneak?
[11:03] Speaker 10: Like we were in the meeting the other day, they
[11:05] Speaker 10: showed us some lebron toobs they're gonna retro, I said,
[11:08] Speaker 10: lebron al Sex team do we did they ever make these?
[11:12] Speaker 6: And then because there was a picture of you carrying
[11:14] Speaker 6: them in the.
[11:19] Speaker 1: Connection, how get them?
[11:22] Speaker 6: Doesn't know? How are you getting this flee?
[11:25] Speaker 2: I want to piggyback that before you go, because he
[11:27] Speaker 2: showed you walking into the arena with the two with.
[11:29] Speaker 3: Your shoes, yes, right fingers is like this.
[11:34] Speaker 8: The best part about those tools is we played right
[11:37] Speaker 8: that night and I held him because I know he
[11:39] Speaker 8: ain't seen them. I know he ain't seen him. So
[11:41] Speaker 8: it's a big game we're playing in and we getting
[11:43] Speaker 8: ready to do jump ball walk out and I dap
[11:45] Speaker 8: him up. He looked at me and he's like, for
[11:47] Speaker 8: really serious, let the camera catch myself.
[11:54] Speaker 6: Start laughing in the wall so that you're not going
[11:59] Speaker 6: to talk about.
[12:01] Speaker 1: Is this something you were like, I'm gonna be the
[12:03] Speaker 1: king of this ship.
[12:04] Speaker 7: The sneak.
[12:04] Speaker 6: I just always did it.
[12:05] Speaker 8: It was just part of my life, right like younger,
[12:08] Speaker 8: like going to get Jay's like I used to wait
[12:09] Speaker 8: in line like to before school, like literally, I'm about
[12:13] Speaker 8: to be late first period, no matter, I need these.
[12:15] Speaker 8: I need these Concord elevens. So that was just always
[12:18] Speaker 8: my life from the beginning.
[12:19] Speaker 6: To be clear, no one can fuck with you in
[12:21] Speaker 6: the NBA in terms.
[12:23] Speaker 2: How you gonna deal with a guy. How you're gonna
[12:25] Speaker 2: deal with a guy that will switch his shoes every
[12:27] Speaker 2: quarter in the first quarter, these in the second quarter,
[12:34] Speaker 2: in the third quarter, that's a hit where hewhere wedges
[12:39] Speaker 2: in the f.
[12:44] Speaker 3: Flip flops in the.
[12:48] Speaker 6: Can't consision. So it's the thing.
[12:49] Speaker 8: It's always like, it's got it's my shoes, like like
[12:52] Speaker 8: especially with him, like he gets going the first tying
[12:56] Speaker 8: to go, so as I come out, we sell like
[12:57] Speaker 8: because I'm matching his minutes. So it's like sous he
[12:59] Speaker 8: comes up, is my shoes. It's my shoes. That's all
[13:01] Speaker 8: I gotta.
[13:02] Speaker 1: Oh my gosh. Okay, I got a question for y'all.
[13:05] Speaker 9: When you talk about like having that dog mentality, like
[13:09] Speaker 9: the way you guys play, do you feel like that
[13:12] Speaker 9: that you're born with that or do you feel like
[13:15] Speaker 9: you've learned that.
[13:18] Speaker 6: I think it's a bit of both. It can be
[13:21] Speaker 6: brought out of you.
[13:22] Speaker 1: Yes, but I think you, like I'm saying, when you're young, right, I.
[13:29] Speaker 3: Think I think your surroundings growing up turns you to
[13:35] Speaker 3: a dog.
[13:35] Speaker 9: I think I think it's around. So what's gonna happen
[13:38] Speaker 9: to our kids? That's that's that's that has three four
[13:42] Speaker 9: car Well, yeah, my gosh, caage houses, like what is
[13:47] Speaker 9: the solution to the next generation that I think growing
[13:51] Speaker 9: up without having to have the being the fight that
[13:55] Speaker 9: we were in.
[13:55] Speaker 10: How I define dog is when you wake up in
[13:59] Speaker 10: the morning at your feet on the floor, you have
[14:01] Speaker 10: a purpose.
[14:02] Speaker 6: You're like, I am going to get this fucking done,
[14:05] Speaker 6: and that's it.
[14:06] Speaker 10: And I think I've kids and with my kids, I
[14:09] Speaker 10: just hope and try and stell them a reason to
[14:12] Speaker 10: wake up in the morning.
[14:13] Speaker 6: We had to have get up. You had like no food,
[14:16] Speaker 6: my mom had no money.
[14:17] Speaker 1: We don't have much.
[14:19] Speaker 10: So it's like the purpose was to make money. But
[14:21] Speaker 10: money won't be my kid's purpose. But I hope to
[14:23] Speaker 10: give them a different purpose which will make them a
[14:26] Speaker 10: meaning they will go.
[14:27] Speaker 2: That's that's so I think from the that perspective, as
[14:31] Speaker 2: far as our kids and things of that nature, I
[14:33] Speaker 2: just hope that they I hope we've instilled enough vision
[14:37] Speaker 2: in them that they look and see the passion that
[14:42] Speaker 2: we put into what we do on a day to
[14:43] Speaker 2: day basis, you know, and they can relate from that
[14:48] Speaker 2: because everything that I learned from growing up also, I
[14:51] Speaker 2: mean obviously I had to I didn't have shit, so
[14:54] Speaker 2: like I needed to go get it. But I also
[14:57] Speaker 2: saw the determination that my mom had, you know, also
[15:00] Speaker 2: saw you know, my uncles and what they instilled as well.
[15:02] Speaker 2: So like you just hope that you're doing it the
[15:05] Speaker 2: right way and you're grinding because we shall grinding the
[15:08] Speaker 2: right way. That when your kids are looking and you
[15:11] Speaker 2: don't know when they looking, they like, oh shit, pops
[15:14] Speaker 2: out there grinding, Moms out there grinding. They you know,
[15:17] Speaker 2: you just hope that you you've done enough, You've done enough.
[15:22] Speaker 8: That's something like you can I can never we can
[15:24] Speaker 8: never teach our kids what we've been through like this.
[15:25] Speaker 8: It's impossible. I can't take them back to the hood.
[15:28] Speaker 8: I can't like make them wake up smelling crack smoke,
[15:31] Speaker 8: like they can't understand like that's what I grew up in.
[15:33] Speaker 8: So it was like waking up and then people's society
[15:36] Speaker 8: telling me a I'm too small and you can't do this.
[15:39] Speaker 1: This ain't for you.
[15:39] Speaker 6: You're not six eight a wing and athletic like you.
[15:43] Speaker 3: You can't.
[15:43] Speaker 8: You can't go there, you can't do that. And it's
[15:45] Speaker 8: like that every day telling It's like, all right, bet
[15:47] Speaker 8: now I'm adult because I'm gonna show you now. I'm
[15:49] Speaker 8: a punish this dude, because all y'all what y'all talking about?
[15:52] Speaker 8: You like talking, Okay, what did you put four and
[15:58] Speaker 8: a half? What was that like where you're like, I'm
[16:00] Speaker 8: determining it? Back to the NBA, No, bro, it was
[16:03] Speaker 8: like out of my mind and I was trying to
[16:05] Speaker 8: I was so busy trying to get better and trying
[16:07] Speaker 8: to win, because you would. I'm in a whole nother situation,
[16:09] Speaker 8: which mind you like you're playing the Madrid tonight.
[16:17] Speaker 6: We got a day off, we go to Paris.
[16:18] Speaker 3: I'm like, oh man, I'm in heaven. This is everything.
[16:21] Speaker 8: But it was like just trying to better myself, get
[16:23] Speaker 8: better for myself and my team that I'm on. If
[16:26] Speaker 8: you look at the vision like way down the road,
[16:28] Speaker 8: like yo, in ten years, I'm gonna win me a chip.
[16:30] Speaker 8: Like if I was here and told you, I'll be
[16:31] Speaker 8: lying like never never.
[16:33] Speaker 10: And as a player, you all, you're a very special
[16:36] Speaker 10: player because you're a lot like Draymond, but he's been
[16:40] Speaker 10: on one team. You've been moved around, but you're always
[16:43] Speaker 10: on a really good team.
[16:45] Speaker 6: You're peace. Why you always get moved though, because I
[16:50] Speaker 6: choose to move, You choose.
[16:51] Speaker 3: I want to move.
[16:52] Speaker 6: You want to move? What makes you want to move?
[16:54] Speaker 6: What makes you want to move?
[16:56] Speaker 3: You want to You know, man, we know the NBA.
[16:58] Speaker 8: God's fickled like we as he's been has been blessed
[17:02] Speaker 8: being the same team as super blessing.
[17:04] Speaker 6: But guys get.
[17:06] Speaker 8: Funny, man, you know, like, all right, everybody started leaving,
[17:10] Speaker 8: so all right, now I gotta figure out another situation
[17:12] Speaker 8: for myself. All right, Oh so you mean you'll be like, oh,
[17:18] Speaker 8: I'm here, I'm good like around you change, Yeah, and
[17:21] Speaker 8: it's changed, and all right that but you always get
[17:23] Speaker 8: picked up by a good team. I'm gonna choose a
[17:26] Speaker 8: good team for sure, because I'm a I'm a realistic myself, right,
[17:28] Speaker 8: I know what I do. Can't nobody tell me what
[17:30] Speaker 8: I do, what I can't do. I know what I
[17:32] Speaker 8: do better than anybody. So I can look at a
[17:34] Speaker 8: team and be like yo, like I chose Milwaukee, like
[17:37] Speaker 8: that was hand picked. Use your skill set, and I'm
[17:40] Speaker 8: like yo oh, I'm like, oh, if I go to Milwaukee, that's.
[17:42] Speaker 3: Gonna be ooh good.
[17:44] Speaker 6: But Dre and another gro peacepoint.
[17:48] Speaker 9: Wait, Dre ain't get a chance to answer the first
[17:51] Speaker 9: one about being a doggy adorned superpower.
[17:56] Speaker 5: I think for me, I've always been a dog, like
[17:58] Speaker 5: growing up in Sagonaw, I had to be that to
[18:00] Speaker 5: get on the court, Like that's just how it had
[18:03] Speaker 5: to be. I never had to be the dog that
[18:07] Speaker 5: I am today to get back on the court until
[18:09] Speaker 5: I got to the NBA, Like that's that's what got
[18:12] Speaker 5: me on the floor, because you know, like coming out
[18:15] Speaker 5: of college, I was Player of the Year.
[18:18] Speaker 6: All of that.
[18:20] Speaker 5: But I quickly realized, ain't none of that shit getting
[18:23] Speaker 5: me on the floor, you know, trying and fucking shoot
[18:27] Speaker 5: them jump hugs that Jay. Ain't none of that shit
[18:30] Speaker 5: about to get me on this floor. What was going
[18:32] Speaker 5: to get me on the floor for the Warriors was
[18:35] Speaker 5: to go bully somebody. Because I realized, like, oh, that's
[18:38] Speaker 5: that's missing here, Like nobody here is bullying anybody. Nobody's
[18:42] Speaker 5: here speaking up nobody's like just bringing that tenacity to
[18:46] Speaker 5: the floor. So I realized, like my second day there,
[18:50] Speaker 5: they need somebody to bring that dog, because that'll be
[18:52] Speaker 5: my way onto the floor. Then I realized, the moment
[18:57] Speaker 5: you forget your way on the floor in the NBA,
[18:59] Speaker 5: I can go fucking shoot fifty percent from three next year.
[19:03] Speaker 6: If I'm just going to go shoot fifty percent from.
[19:05] Speaker 5: Three and not be a dog, They're gonna give me
[19:08] Speaker 5: the hell out of here.
[19:09] Speaker 7: Like the moment you forget what got you there, you're.
[19:13] Speaker 5: Done, They're gonna give me out. I realized, all right,
[19:17] Speaker 5: I gotta keep that. Everything I added is cool, but
[19:21] Speaker 5: I gotta.
[19:21] Speaker 2: Keep Did you see that when you came out of
[19:22] Speaker 2: high school and went to Michigan State?
[19:25] Speaker 3: Was it like that was kind of the.
[19:26] Speaker 2: Same thing, Like you was a freshman, theyre and you
[19:28] Speaker 2: was like maybe not playing as much, and then you
[19:31] Speaker 2: looked and it was like, oh shit, maybe there's not
[19:33] Speaker 2: a guy like Draymond here.
[19:37] Speaker 3: I gotta bring that dog.
[19:39] Speaker 2: Or was it like or did you come out of
[19:40] Speaker 2: high school was already there and they were like, you know,
[19:42] Speaker 2: put you out there and it was just already instilled
[19:44] Speaker 2: in it.
[19:44] Speaker 6: It was already instilled in me.
[19:46] Speaker 7: But we had a guy like that. We had Travis Walking. Okay, yeah,
[19:50] Speaker 7: you was a god right up.
[19:55] Speaker 5: My freshman year at Michigan State, I played nine minutes
[19:57] Speaker 5: a game. I averaged three points and three three points
[20:00] Speaker 5: and three rebounds. Like that's I had one hundred and
[20:04] Speaker 5: twenty seven points on the year. I had one hundred
[20:07] Speaker 5: and twenty seven rebounds.
[20:09] Speaker 3: I'll never forget You've been consistent in your whole life.
[20:11] Speaker 7: Three three that's what I averaged and wow. But we
[20:16] Speaker 7: had Travis in that. But for me, I don't I
[20:21] Speaker 7: don't know how to shut up, like.
[20:22] Speaker 3: I no no noes.
[20:29] Speaker 5: Know how to shut up that because I think something,
[20:32] Speaker 5: I'm gonna say it. And at Michigan State, it wasn't
[20:36] Speaker 5: really like that, like it's gonna be like, shut.
[20:38] Speaker 6: Up, you punk ass freshman. Oh he's gonna say you know.
[20:41] Speaker 7: He would tell me that every.
[20:42] Speaker 5: Time, and I'd be like all right, and then he
[20:44] Speaker 5: says something else, like hey, that really don't make sense.
[20:47] Speaker 1: He'd be like, you.
[20:48] Speaker 7: Punk ass freshman, shut the fuck up.
[20:50] Speaker 6: And before I.
[20:51] Speaker 5: Knew it, but he started to, like in the meetings,
[20:54] Speaker 5: he's directing ship towards me, Like with Draymond.
[20:57] Speaker 3: What do you think he knew he was the one?
[21:00] Speaker 3: And on it's just at your wedding?
[21:06] Speaker 5: Is it?
[21:06] Speaker 10: Every night you show up to the arena and you like,
[21:10] Speaker 10: I don't want to be the dog tonight because y'all
[21:13] Speaker 10: always show up and get the toughest assignment. Y'all gotta
[21:15] Speaker 10: guard Lebron. Y'all got to guard every night you're driving
[21:20] Speaker 10: like funk, I don't want.
[21:21] Speaker 5: To do this, like not tonight, Like it's not a
[21:25] Speaker 5: night that I show up and I don't want to
[21:26] Speaker 5: be a dog, especially if it's Lebron coming in coming,
[21:31] Speaker 5: because them the games I live for, you're ready for them.
[21:34] Speaker 6: It's the nights I show up and we're.
[21:36] Speaker 7: Playing against the Sorry, mother, I can't play the.
[21:40] Speaker 1: Kings, the King you name.
[21:46] Speaker 6: Right, Oh my god? The Kings make it better this,
[21:51] Speaker 6: y'all hope.
[21:51] Speaker 5: But you know it's it's like like, how am I
[21:54] Speaker 5: supposed to get myself up with, like with this engine
[21:59] Speaker 5: and like so many.
[22:02] Speaker 6: Fucking on this soft Tuesday.
[22:09] Speaker 2: To add to what Mavis is saying too, and it's
[22:12] Speaker 2: sometimes that you like especially in y'all what y'all do,
[22:14] Speaker 2: y'all roles?
[22:15] Speaker 3: And she was like, I just wish it was another
[22:18] Speaker 3: motherfucker with me too.
[22:20] Speaker 2: I just wish it was another not another PJ, not
[22:23] Speaker 2: another Draymont, but another motherfucking dog.
[22:25] Speaker 3: That would be like I got I got it from this.
[22:30] Speaker 5: J.
[22:30] Speaker 1: What about you?
[22:31] Speaker 6: How you feel nice? Is it night?
[22:33] Speaker 8: Like it's like like you said, it really is like that.
[22:35] Speaker 8: It's the bad games in the bad City, and like, bro,
[22:40] Speaker 8: you know what. But then I try to like I
[22:42] Speaker 8: try to make somebody talk it or something.
[22:44] Speaker 6: Like like like.
[22:47] Speaker 5: I need that.
[22:48] Speaker 8: It's oh yet word and then the dude I'm guarding,
[22:50] Speaker 8: like you know what I'm saying. It's like one of
[22:52] Speaker 8: those and now he said something like what okay, all right, bet,
[22:55] Speaker 8: like I need that, Like yeah, Like you gotta look
[22:58] Speaker 8: for a little motivation, especially.
[23:00] Speaker 11: To matter of fact, I saw an interview you did
[23:01] Speaker 11: where you were talking about like we live in such
[23:03] Speaker 11: a like image conscious like generation when no one wants
[23:06] Speaker 11: to be embarrassed, everyone wants to look good. That'saw an
[23:09] Speaker 11: interview where you said someone could drop fifty score the
[23:12] Speaker 11: fiftieth point, and you're gonna be there for the next
[23:14] Speaker 11: one and make it really.
[23:16] Speaker 7: Playoffs me again, like you drop forty show me forty
[23:19] Speaker 7: two I'm here.
[23:20] Speaker 6: Every possition again come from you got it, bro.
[23:22] Speaker 3: And that's the part where you gotta like kind of
[23:24] Speaker 3: black out, right.
[23:25] Speaker 6: It's like he is.
[23:26] Speaker 8: Tearing my ass up and I know it and I
[23:29] Speaker 8: gotta sit here. But it's like, nah, I want to
[23:31] Speaker 8: win that band, right. That was the whole thing with me,
[23:34] Speaker 8: Katy got each other face.
[23:35] Speaker 6: That's what you're saying.
[23:35] Speaker 8: Yeah, I'm not going nowhere. I just kept saying, I'm
[23:37] Speaker 8: not going nowhere. Bro, I'm not okay, but I'm not
[23:40] Speaker 8: going nowhere.
[23:41] Speaker 6: So we're gonna do this. We're gonna be.
[23:43] Speaker 3: Here seven games, every second, every time.
[23:45] Speaker 8: You catch the ball full court nine four feet, I'm
[23:47] Speaker 8: gonna be right here.
[23:49] Speaker 6: But kat is your boy. Do you ever turn it
[23:50] Speaker 6: on and off with your friend? Like, yeah, no, for sure,
[23:54] Speaker 6: we're still the same.
[23:55] Speaker 3: It's the same as relationship. Fact, the same as me
[23:58] Speaker 3: and Dandy's relationship.
[23:59] Speaker 6: Which is which is said interesting thing most people don't understand. Right.
[24:01] Speaker 11: We were talking about this last week, how some people
[24:03] Speaker 11: may think, how can you guys be friends? You guys
[24:06] Speaker 11: or whatever, and Dre's common was I don't want to
[24:08] Speaker 11: speak for him. It was like, people don't understand I'm
[24:10] Speaker 11: gonna try to take Bron's head off, not dirty, and
[24:13] Speaker 11: Bron would want it no other way.
[24:14] Speaker 2: He expects me to take If my mama played for
[24:18] Speaker 2: the Clippers, If my mama played for the Clippers and
[24:23] Speaker 2: she in the lane, she getting punched up, and I hope,
[24:27] Speaker 2: I hope she'd.
[24:28] Speaker 3: Be like, you know what, son, you got? You got
[24:31] Speaker 3: coming back for your ass though.
[24:32] Speaker 1: I hope.
[24:33] Speaker 10: So you did it from Compton? Yeah, we obviously just
[24:48] Speaker 10: saw Serena. She said it's over who knows. But something
[24:52] Speaker 10: about that water, That's all I was gonna.
[24:55] Speaker 6: What is it about water? Kendrick, doctor dre being Serena?
[25:00] Speaker 3: What is it?
[25:01] Speaker 9: Anthony Anderson? What is it about Compton? Compton is really
[25:08] Speaker 9: it's an inner city. At one time it used to
[25:12] Speaker 9: be mostly all black, but people who were who had
[25:16] Speaker 9: a lot of pride, you.
[25:18] Speaker 1: Know what I'm saying.
[25:18] Speaker 9: So it's not like it's just run down where you
[25:21] Speaker 9: just feel like you don't have because when you now
[25:23] Speaker 9: that you travel the world, you see like Compton was fine.
[25:26] Speaker 9: We really wasn't that bad off, but people would be like, dang,
[25:29] Speaker 9: how does it feel to be poor? I remember when
[25:31] Speaker 9: my actually one of my cousins asked me that when
[25:33] Speaker 9: I was young and I was.
[25:34] Speaker 1: Like, oh, poor, Like who's poor. She's like, no, because
[25:37] Speaker 1: you guys are poor.
[25:38] Speaker 6: She's like, you you're poor.
[25:39] Speaker 1: And I'm like, I don't know.
[25:43] Speaker 9: She's like, I had my own room, my sister had
[25:45] Speaker 9: her room, we shared a bathroom, you know what I mean.
[25:47] Speaker 9: So it's all relative to like what you have. So
[25:51] Speaker 9: I think I didn't really know that we didn't have
[25:53] Speaker 9: until I got a little bit older.
[25:55] Speaker 1: When my mom was a truck driver.
[25:56] Speaker 9: She drove a eighteen wheeler truck across country, so we
[25:58] Speaker 9: had a living housekeeper. So then when it kind of
[26:03] Speaker 9: got where, you know, lights, water, you know, you have
[26:07] Speaker 9: to pick which one you want to kind of keep
[26:08] Speaker 9: on or the pork and beans and the you know,
[26:10] Speaker 9: you start to.
[26:11] Speaker 1: Realize you don't have like, you know what I mean, bread,
[26:16] Speaker 1: but you don't really you know, those types of things.
[26:18] Speaker 9: But I think when you're a kid, I still didn't
[26:21] Speaker 9: feel like we was just struggling. It just was the
[26:24] Speaker 9: life that we had. We had a lot of love
[26:25] Speaker 9: in our family. My mom a single parent. I have
[26:28] Speaker 9: two sisters, one older, one younger, and I think me
[26:31] Speaker 9: being the middle child made me the fighter, the survivor,
[26:34] Speaker 9: like I take direction. Well, I'm a follower, but I'm
[26:37] Speaker 9: also a listener because I have a younger sister to.
[26:39] Speaker 1: Take care of.
[26:40] Speaker 10: And when you retired, you still have more playing, Like
[26:42] Speaker 10: how did you know it's time for you to step away?
[26:45] Speaker 9: My last game, I had twenty points and ten rebounds exactly.
[26:49] Speaker 1: I feel like I.
[26:50] Speaker 9: Didn't want to stay out there until like somebody start
[26:53] Speaker 9: blocking my show. I'm not good at I don't want
[26:56] Speaker 9: to stay out there were I'm just like, oh, I
[26:59] Speaker 9: just got to rebound, Like that's too much for me,
[27:03] Speaker 9: Like for my I work hard, yeah, oh fact, yeah,
[27:07] Speaker 9: I'm a hard worker. You know, I've had some amazing teammates.
[27:10] Speaker 9: But when I start to see that, actually, I had
[27:14] Speaker 9: a child too, so that's another thing, having a child
[27:17] Speaker 9: and coming.
[27:17] Speaker 1: Back and play.
[27:18] Speaker 3: I feel like you were so good you could have
[27:19] Speaker 3: played with the baby.
[27:26] Speaker 1: But it changed.
[27:27] Speaker 9: It changed my body change, and I could see that
[27:29] Speaker 9: like in some instances where I would like go like rebound,
[27:32] Speaker 9: snatch a board, I could either box out or get
[27:35] Speaker 9: the board, and that that option for me was like
[27:37] Speaker 9: I couldn't handle it. Think about it, how many how
[27:43] Speaker 9: many rebound? How many shots you run down? Off that
[27:45] Speaker 9: backboard where it was just natural.
[27:47] Speaker 1: Now you like, I'm gonna let that food go right now,
[27:53] Speaker 1: You'll let it go because you're starting to get to
[27:55] Speaker 1: that point. And I saw it.
[27:56] Speaker 9: I saw it where a rebound was like I would
[27:59] Speaker 9: think about it before I would just gone. I didn't
[28:00] Speaker 9: hit somebody, I didn't grab it. I'm gone now. And
[28:04] Speaker 9: it got to a point where I remember thinking like
[28:06] Speaker 9: why I didn't go get that ball, Like why I
[28:08] Speaker 9: didn't get it?
[28:09] Speaker 1: And I didn't know, and I was like, it's time
[28:11] Speaker 1: for me to go at Lisa.
[28:12] Speaker 6: Can I ask you one thing?
[28:13] Speaker 11: As great as these three gentlemen are, one thing don't
[28:15] Speaker 11: never understand is having a child while playing.
[28:19] Speaker 6: Talk a little bit about like what that's.
[28:21] Speaker 11: Like and coming to your player, yeah, coming back, especially
[28:24] Speaker 11: with the bar you have for yourself.
[28:27] Speaker 1: I think it's just life changing. It really is.
[28:30] Speaker 9: I mean, I've been married to basketball. My relationship was
[28:33] Speaker 9: with basketball. Six thirty in the morning, I'm on the track,
[28:36] Speaker 9: like I've done so much during the day. I go
[28:40] Speaker 9: to my trainer, go home, sleep, go back, go play
[28:43] Speaker 9: with the fellas at UCLA. Like I've been playing ball
[28:46] Speaker 9: and just married to the game so long that once
[28:48] Speaker 9: I got married, I was still good because my husband
[28:51] Speaker 9: was you know, my husband was a pilot, so he
[28:53] Speaker 9: could travel, he can come to my games.
[28:54] Speaker 1: We're good.
[28:55] Speaker 9: But once I had my daughter, I knew I'm a perfectionist.
[29:00] Speaker 1: My lover.
[29:01] Speaker 9: I was always like, I don't want nobody knowing my
[29:03] Speaker 9: children more than I know them.
[29:04] Speaker 1: I don't.
[29:04] Speaker 9: I know I could afford to have help, but I
[29:06] Speaker 9: don't want help through the night. Somebody else.
[29:08] Speaker 1: Get up.
[29:09] Speaker 9: No, I'm not made like that, Like I need my
[29:12] Speaker 9: baby needs to know me. And I feel like that's
[29:15] Speaker 9: the first time in my life where I realized you
[29:17] Speaker 9: can't give one hundred percent to the game, like.
[29:19] Speaker 6: You have to pick.
[29:20] Speaker 1: Oh, for sure, I was nursing. I would I nurse
[29:23] Speaker 1: my daughter.
[29:23] Speaker 9: I'd stop, I'd go to practice, breast feeling back up,
[29:27] Speaker 9: I either get back home.
[29:28] Speaker 1: You know, it was like pumping.
[29:30] Speaker 9: It was it's just a it's a sacrifice, and it's
[29:33] Speaker 9: like it's a sacrifice that I would. I wouldn't change,
[29:36] Speaker 9: but I chose my daughter. I chose my being a mom.
[29:40] Speaker 1: And a wife.
[29:40] Speaker 9: For me, it was like so amazing that I should do.
[29:46] Speaker 1: Could you do it?
[29:47] Speaker 6: No?
[29:48] Speaker 3: Pick my kids over basketball right now?
[29:50] Speaker 6: I love it too much.
[29:52] Speaker 2: I mean not having Savannah long long as savannahs in
[29:56] Speaker 2: the nest, that's my lady. I feel like because she
[29:59] Speaker 2: is ship with the kids. I wouldn't pick my kids
[30:03] Speaker 2: to stop playing ball, but I will stop ball to
[30:07] Speaker 2: make sure my kids is straight. Of course, you know
[30:09] Speaker 2: what I'm saying. So it is a meetian when it
[30:10] Speaker 2: comes to that. So if I'm doing something, I'm playing ball,
[30:13] Speaker 2: I'm training, or if it's even if it's a game
[30:15] Speaker 2: or something I get, we get a phone call, if
[30:17] Speaker 2: Raymond's get a phone call and you come up behind
[30:20] Speaker 2: the bench and say, hey, listen, hey ZERI I'm sorry,
[30:23] Speaker 2: I gotta go. You know what I'm saying, Because family
[30:25] Speaker 2: is everything. The game of basketball is giving me everything
[30:28] Speaker 2: that and more than I can ever dream of. But
[30:31] Speaker 2: the engine don't move unless the family straight. Like I
[30:34] Speaker 2: just you know what I'm saying, Like.
[30:36] Speaker 9: That's how I want to finish your question. That's the
[30:38] Speaker 9: biggest difference because I'm.
[30:39] Speaker 3: The mom exactly, she's Savannah right now.
[30:43] Speaker 9: I'm one hundred percent in that that that means more
[30:46] Speaker 9: to me than basketball. That's that's why, that's why I
[30:50] Speaker 9: have no regrets because I love my husband and I
[30:54] Speaker 9: love my children and family.
[30:56] Speaker 2: The little stunt she gave us though, when she said
[30:58] Speaker 2: she stunted on this and she said, yeah, you know,
[31:00] Speaker 2: my husband's a pilot, so he just fly into the game.
[31:07] Speaker 3: You know, I get on there with him.
[31:14] Speaker 10: Last week we were in Columbus. I met you there
[31:16] Speaker 10: to go to the high state football game. But you
[31:18] Speaker 10: were there with your son going on to college visit.
[31:20] Speaker 10: But you obviously never had a chance to yourself. Did
[31:24] Speaker 10: it feel selfish?
[31:26] Speaker 6: Selfish? Were you a little bit like I want to
[31:28] Speaker 6: see this for myself?
[31:29] Speaker 2: I kept asking Brownie, like how you feel, you know,
[31:34] Speaker 2: how you feel about this? He's like, I feel good, man,
[31:35] Speaker 2: Like I'm excited about it. But it was a little
[31:38] Speaker 2: like a two way ended question because I was asking
[31:40] Speaker 2: him asking myself at the same time. You know, like
[31:44] Speaker 2: Savannah didn't go on no college visits. I didn't go
[31:47] Speaker 2: on no college visits. This is Bronnie's first college visit.
[31:50] Speaker 2: So like we're all virgins going into Columbus for the
[31:54] Speaker 2: first time. So we was like all soaking it up.
[31:57] Speaker 2: So we like I'm sitting there, I'm sitting in the
[31:59] Speaker 2: office with the coach and they giving they pitch about
[32:01] Speaker 2: why Bronnie, you know, will fit here on campus while
[32:03] Speaker 2: they feel like he be a part of you know,
[32:05] Speaker 2: Buckeye Nation while he do this, and then Bronnie goes
[32:08] Speaker 2: down and puts the uniform on. You know, I'm looking
[32:11] Speaker 2: at Brownie, but I'm like, I'm looking at myself at
[32:13] Speaker 2: like eighteen, like if I would have stepped on the
[32:15] Speaker 2: college campus put it, put the uniform on. And then
[32:18] Speaker 2: we went down to the field and I heard we
[32:20] Speaker 2: want Brownnie that that ship was like so crazy. I've
[32:23] Speaker 2: been on house they games, but I've never been on
[32:26] Speaker 2: a on a college visit to.
[32:31] Speaker 3: Visit you still like that? That blows my mind?
[32:34] Speaker 6: You like what hold up?
[32:36] Speaker 7: Produced like really play for you?
[32:39] Speaker 3: Yeah, I had no vision of going to the NBA
[32:41] Speaker 3: out of high school.
[32:41] Speaker 6: Like for that for you to like really still like
[32:46] Speaker 6: like that's crazy to say for him to feel like
[32:48] Speaker 6: he still may have missed.
[32:49] Speaker 8: Out, like yeah, like being in the dorm, like you're
[32:52] Speaker 8: definitely you was in you wass.
[32:59] Speaker 5: This guyversation with Jermaine O'Neill. Jayo was one of my
[33:03] Speaker 5: best my second year in the league, and he'd be like, yeah, motherfucker,
[33:08] Speaker 5: I went to the University of Cash.
[33:10] Speaker 6: And I said Jayo.
[33:13] Speaker 5: We all get cash now, but I experienced something you
[33:16] Speaker 5: didn't and I got to the same place.
[33:19] Speaker 7: But let me tell you, you missed some ship not
[33:22] Speaker 7: going to college.
[33:23] Speaker 6: There are experiences that.
[33:26] Speaker 5: The atmosphere, like the atmosphere of the rivalries, Like people
[33:30] Speaker 5: talk about NBA rivalries that shit ain't nothing, Like guess
[33:34] Speaker 5: what if Michigan State sucked this year and Michigan sucked
[33:37] Speaker 5: this year, the Michigan and Michigan State game is still
[33:40] Speaker 5: going to be a fucking battle. You don't get that
[33:43] Speaker 5: ship in the NBA. There is just certain things about
[33:45] Speaker 5: college that like, I know, you lived incredible life.
[33:49] Speaker 6: There's a certain things, though that you missed. Listen what now?
[33:53] Speaker 6: I mean I feel you, but I don't feel you
[33:55] Speaker 6: like you don't miss nothing in college.
[33:57] Speaker 3: Listen, bro, you even with all that, Like I was
[34:00] Speaker 3: still going back to my door, but it.
[34:01] Speaker 7: Was about a football school, Bro.
[34:04] Speaker 8: I was out of school basketball would it didn't matter
[34:08] Speaker 8: because I, like I was really like starving, like hungry
[34:12] Speaker 8: three And it was like yo, like, man, can I
[34:15] Speaker 8: leave it?
[34:16] Speaker 6: Like talking about Serena's.
[34:22] Speaker 3: Impact though, absolutely absolutely what.
[34:25] Speaker 6: Is Serena like her meaning to like sport culture?
[34:30] Speaker 2: I mean just from a from from a dominant standpoint,
[34:34] Speaker 2: from a from a black girl of power standpoint, with
[34:39] Speaker 2: the influence that she has in community, for for little
[34:42] Speaker 2: black girls, for black boys, as well as trying to
[34:45] Speaker 2: be anything in life. I mean, she she broke so
[34:48] Speaker 2: many barriers, especially in a sport for our color that
[34:54] Speaker 2: wasn't looked at facts, you know what I'm saying, Like
[34:57] Speaker 2: you had, you know, you sprinkling a little bit here,
[34:59] Speaker 2: a little bit of their and tennis, but it wasn't
[35:01] Speaker 2: looked at it like that. So for her to come
[35:04] Speaker 2: in when she came in in ninety six, ninety seven, whatever,
[35:06] Speaker 2: and then she got her sister with her, they rocking
[35:08] Speaker 2: like not only did it show how great she could be,
[35:11] Speaker 2: it could also you know, siblings fight so much. They
[35:15] Speaker 2: show how siblings can do it together as well and
[35:18] Speaker 2: grind together and not have no type of animosity to
[35:24] Speaker 2: me or you or you or me and her. When
[35:25] Speaker 2: she said, I'm Serena's nothing without venus.
[35:28] Speaker 5: Sacks, Serena not only showed women what was possible, Serena showed.
[35:36] Speaker 7: Athletes what was possible.
[35:38] Speaker 5: And not just black athletes, Serena showed white athletes was possible.
[35:43] Speaker 5: Serena showed Asian athletes what was possible. And I think
[35:47] Speaker 5: I was reading an article the other day where some
[35:50] Speaker 5: lady named Court she's twenty four, and she's like, h
[35:57] Speaker 5: Serena never admired that, and I thought it was fucking
[36:02] Speaker 5: relentlew Like, first off, stop making this moment about it
[36:06] Speaker 5: about you.
[36:07] Speaker 7: Stop making this moment about you.
[36:09] Speaker 5: Secondly, what she showed me was how out of touch
[36:12] Speaker 5: with reality that she is, because you're sitting here talking
[36:16] Speaker 5: about you beat her twenty four to twenty three, and
[36:20] Speaker 5: that is the least relevant point and all of this,
[36:23] Speaker 5: how about what this black woman had to go through
[36:26] Speaker 5: to become what she became and the impact, the impact,
[36:30] Speaker 5: Like you didn't have to fight.
[36:32] Speaker 7: The battle that Serena fought.
[36:35] Speaker 6: Just to get to the tennis match.
[36:37] Speaker 5: See the tennis was easy part, Like you gonna play
[36:41] Speaker 5: tennessee and sleep like that's the easy part.
[36:44] Speaker 7: But what she had to go through as a black
[36:45] Speaker 7: girl when he.
[36:47] Speaker 5: In fucking tennis And you want to make this about
[36:50] Speaker 5: your twenty four, get the fuck out of here, Like
[36:53] Speaker 5: that's bullshit. You're comparing your numbers to this black girl
[36:57] Speaker 5: who changed culture.
[36:58] Speaker 9: I think when you think about sometimes people miss what
[37:02] Speaker 9: it means to be black in America.
[37:05] Speaker 1: It's not the same.
[37:06] Speaker 9: It's not like you just show it up to a sport,
[37:09] Speaker 9: was able to play a sport and fell short.
[37:11] Speaker 1: Yes, you know, it's not that.
[37:13] Speaker 9: It's everything you're saying. Being in Coompton when we're been
[37:17] Speaker 9: where you saw the movie, there's no There wasn't even
[37:20] Speaker 9: any nets on the court like there was gangster selling
[37:23] Speaker 9: dope on the court like they have. They are survivors
[37:27] Speaker 9: of America trying to live the American dream in a
[37:31] Speaker 9: place that this is our.
[37:33] Speaker 1: Country too, Like we don't know any other country to
[37:36] Speaker 1: love that we play for. We put on the red,
[37:38] Speaker 1: white and blue for and represent this country.
[37:41] Speaker 9: And it's so amazing that we can be here wanting
[37:44] Speaker 9: to be and fit in and work hard and just
[37:47] Speaker 9: make it and have the American dream and be denied
[37:51] Speaker 9: that every time you turn left and right, not based
[37:55] Speaker 9: on anything other than your color, like it's out of
[37:58] Speaker 9: our control.
[37:59] Speaker 1: It's amazing to me.
[38:00] Speaker 9: So when you talk about Serena and Venus, they are
[38:03] Speaker 9: synonymous to.
[38:04] Speaker 1: Me, as they have defied all the man and.
[38:09] Speaker 9: Fought against Serena, the truth, the truth, everything tell me out.
[38:15] Speaker 11: Yeah, at least I just saw for those of you
[38:18] Speaker 11: that saw phenomenal w NBA game in Vegas or Seattle.
[38:23] Speaker 11: The level we're talking about the level of basketball, I
[38:25] Speaker 11: was just mind blown for you as one of like
[38:28] Speaker 11: the pioneers of w NBA, Like, how do you feel
[38:31] Speaker 11: the game has evolved that you still have a long
[38:33] Speaker 11: way to go, like from where you.
[38:34] Speaker 6: Sit and.
[38:36] Speaker 2: Exactly if you if it's one thing that you I
[38:40] Speaker 2: don't want to say change that you feel that can
[38:42] Speaker 2: help the w NBA's game out.
[38:46] Speaker 1: The game.
[38:46] Speaker 9: Okay, So I think the game is looking great. I
[38:49] Speaker 9: think it's evolved great. I believe that player for player,
[38:53] Speaker 9: players are more talented, faster. You can see they're getting
[38:56] Speaker 9: that individual training, ball, handleyskiel shooting the game was phenomenal.
[39:01] Speaker 9: I thought they're playing at a high level. I'm very
[39:03] Speaker 9: proud of them. I support the WNBA still, I will always.
[39:06] Speaker 9: You know, obviously we've loved to have Britney back home.
[39:08] Speaker 1: That's for sure.
[39:10] Speaker 3: St BG.
[39:12] Speaker 9: Never you know, far from our thoughts, the WNBA is rocking.
[39:16] Speaker 9: What could we have more? I mean, I just think,
[39:20] Speaker 9: you know, from a salary standpoint, it'd be great for
[39:23] Speaker 9: the women to be able to make more money.
[39:25] Speaker 1: It's a lot of work. It's a lot of hard work.
[39:27] Speaker 9: I think I saw something that said, like one player
[39:30] Speaker 9: that makes maybe twelve million on the NBA team could
[39:34] Speaker 9: cover the whole, like the whole WNBA salary.
[39:37] Speaker 1: Crazy, So that's kind of like crazy.
[39:39] Speaker 9: And again, you know, we're we're what twenty six years young,
[39:44] Speaker 9: so it's not like we're comparing ourselves to the NBA.
[39:47] Speaker 9: But I do feel like the pay gap would be
[39:50] Speaker 9: something that, you know, we could just take a donation
[39:52] Speaker 9: around the NBA maybe maybe maybe one night, y'all, don't
[39:55] Speaker 9: go to the casino.
[39:56] Speaker 6: I have something on that stuff because it pisses me off.
[40:01] Speaker 5: It pisses me off because I don't think there's anyone
[40:05] Speaker 5: in America that supports the WNBA more than NBA players.
[40:12] Speaker 7: The NBA players support.
[40:14] Speaker 5: The WNBA like the most, more than we probably support
[40:18] Speaker 5: the fucking NBA.
[40:19] Speaker 7: And it bothers me.
[40:20] Speaker 9: You shouldn't be bothered because the WNBA players, I can
[40:24] Speaker 9: tell you one hundred percent. And we had a meeting
[40:27] Speaker 9: for our twenty fifth anniversary where like do zooms with
[40:31] Speaker 9: the veteran the legends of the league or whatever and
[40:34] Speaker 9: just talking about it. And I told them on that
[40:36] Speaker 9: call the number one supporter that we have, you guys
[40:40] Speaker 9: never focus on, and that is the NBA players. When
[40:44] Speaker 9: Lebron wore that orange hoodie, I told him that hoodie
[40:48] Speaker 9: was just sitting there with the logo on it.
[40:50] Speaker 1: When he wore that hoodie, it went viral and I
[40:53] Speaker 1: explained to him, rings to get.
[40:55] Speaker 2: That shit down to the bubble dog. Yeah, that they
[40:57] Speaker 2: would not send us those hoodies.
[40:59] Speaker 1: Yeah, but but that I explained to them.
[41:01] Speaker 9: I said, you guys don't even use Our number one
[41:04] Speaker 9: allies that have supported us from day one are the
[41:06] Speaker 9: NBA players. I said, they tweet, they follow us, they
[41:10] Speaker 9: come to our games. We don't highlight them. They are
[41:13] Speaker 9: our number one allies. They have the most followers. You
[41:15] Speaker 9: guys are targeting the wrong people.
[41:17] Speaker 2: It was definitely a damn moment when I heard, like
[41:20] Speaker 2: some of the uppers at the WNBA office.
[41:25] Speaker 3: You no, I didn't.
[41:27] Speaker 2: Just heard from a credible source and they said that
[41:30] Speaker 2: that when we come to the games, they try not
[41:33] Speaker 2: to put us on the telecast as much because they
[41:36] Speaker 2: wanted to be shown as a WNBA game. They want
[41:39] Speaker 2: the girls to be shown and they don't want to
[41:41] Speaker 2: show us on TV.
[41:42] Speaker 9: As a terrible idea I disagree with you when you
[41:47] Speaker 9: because they've changed that, they changed that. Why wouldn't you
[41:49] Speaker 9: highlight the fact that Draymond Green, if you come and
[41:52] Speaker 9: watch a sparse game or Lebron James obviously watch anybody's.
[41:56] Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying.
[41:57] Speaker 9: It's saying that you came, you took the time out
[41:59] Speaker 9: of your to come to watch a women's game because
[42:02] Speaker 9: you value what you're seeing. That's it's actually the other
[42:06] Speaker 9: it's reversed, like we should be valuing that.
[42:08] Speaker 1: There's a million things you could be doing. That's amazing.
[42:10] Speaker 9: So when you take the time out of your stuffy
[42:12] Speaker 9: to come to a w n B A game, that's
[42:15] Speaker 9: a highlight.
[42:15] Speaker 2: I'll tell you what. I'll tell you one thing, Lisa.
[42:17] Speaker 2: They making it. They're making a huge mistake. This week,
[42:20] Speaker 2: all right, Game five of Connecticut and Chicago.
[42:25] Speaker 3: It's Thursday.
[42:26] Speaker 1: Yeah, that is.
[42:27] Speaker 3: That is Week one of the.
[42:29] Speaker 2: NFL between the Rams and the Bills, and then Game
[42:33] Speaker 2: one of the w n B A Finals is on
[42:36] Speaker 2: Sunday at one o'clock.
[42:39] Speaker 3: Movie on the same day as the opening the NFL.
[42:44] Speaker 2: That's for l that's a l who's ever running that
[42:48] Speaker 2: they're not they're not thinking outside.
[42:52] Speaker 1: I don't.
[42:52] Speaker 3: I don't know.
[42:53] Speaker 2: I've seen that. It's pretty lock the game. Yeah, I
[42:57] Speaker 2: mean there easy to be a Friday.
[42:59] Speaker 1: Into I don't know. We need to get that. We
[43:02] Speaker 1: gotta get that tweet out early. They need to know
[43:04] Speaker 1: that that's a bad.
[43:07] Speaker 3: Ain't gonna be on the shopping early enough. I tell
[43:09] Speaker 3: you that, you gotta take my hairline.
[43:21] Speaker 1: M Ron.
[43:23] Speaker 9: I feel like you are like never in a fight,
[43:27] Speaker 9: a tussle, your demeanor.
[43:28] Speaker 1: You're gonna have to.
[43:36] Speaker 3: Just do it a little bit more.
