With many local and national elections approaching, and with all of the other ongoing political unrest throughout the world, we often forget what Laws are most important and which Leader should have a say over how our communities are governed. If God is truly King, then His Laws should take priority. Most of our civil unrest comes as the result of us rebelling against the standards and boundaries He set in place for our own good, which results in us trying to rule ourselves. It has not worked then, it isn't working now, and it won't work tomorrow. Now Let's Adjust Our Crowns. [0:09] You're listening to Crowning Ignorant Kings, a podcast for citizens with like minds who
[0:15] love God, follow Christ, and have a desire to be an ambassador for
[0:20] the Kingdom of Heaven on earth. We are John and Charlene Donaldson, who
[0:25] are teachers building a kingdom community. Thank you again for joining us. Now
[0:30] let's sudjust our crowns. I want to talk to you about the priority and
[0:40] the power of law in national development. The priority and the power of law
[0:47] in national development. And when I think about law, I think about social
[0:53] development. I think about order. I think about the need for us to
[0:57] adhere to certain standards if we're going to live as an orderly society. I
[1:03] want to begin, therefore with a statement you may want to write down.
[1:08] The most powerful component in nation building is law. Law is more important than
[1:15] the government. Law is more important than any component in government. As a
[1:26] matter of fact, the most important foundation of law is the source of your
[1:30] law. Law is the most important component in building a country. But what's
[1:38] more important than law is where you get your law from. The Source of
[1:45] law therefore determines the type of law that you create. This is why it's
[1:52] important for us to question where do we get our laws from? The Bahamas
[1:59] inherited a lot of its legal standards from our former colonial powers, and many
[2:06] of those standards were ingrained in their culture as colonial powers. Becoming an independent
[2:14] country means that we inherited some of those legal frameworks in which we live it
[2:20] in. But our contact is also very unique. So I want to talk
[2:25] for a few minutes about the priority of law in framing a national development.
[2:34] Law is the foundation of creation. It is my conclusion that law is inherent
[2:39] in creation. Everything God created exists by law. Law is the guide and
[2:46] the glue that holds the nation together. It is law on which everything exists.
[2:54] For example, a seed to become a true must obey certain laws.
[3:04] If you put a seed on a tiled flow, the tree inside will never
[3:09] come out. So God built into nature itself some fundamental principles or laws that
[3:17] you cannot violate if you want life to function. God designed fish, for
[3:24] example, to submit to water, so the law of fish is water.
[3:30] You try to take a fish out of water that violates the law of the
[3:34] fish's function, the fish will die. So nature itself has everything built into
[3:39] it, and everything exists on law, and everything exists for law. Nothing
[3:45] God created is without law. Even the axis on which the planet the Earth
[3:53] spins and the distance from the Sun is all controlled by natural law. The
[3:59] fact that the Earth circles the Sun at a certain degree is what prevents us
[4:02] from freezing to death, and those laws must be protected, and therefore someone
[4:08] has to be in control. I was in South Africa one day on television
[4:13] and at the end of the interview, a young man in the hall came
[4:15] to me and he said, I used to be an atheist. I said,
[4:18] I know, I used to be one two. All of us started
[4:20] with nothing, he said. But I finally tried to figure out if God
[4:27] exists, he said, and one day someone said to me that every the
[4:31] watchmaker. Someone had to make the watch and wound it up and it works.
[4:38] He said. I discovered that somebody had to make the universe because it's
[4:41] running perfectly, and there has to be someone who's the cause of that.
[4:46] In other words, God himself is the foundation for law. He has a
[4:50] note to remember. Everything God created was designed to function by law, and
[4:56] therefore life and freedom is only possible where law is present. Law was not
[5:01] given just to observe, but to protect law protects life. It also protects
[5:11] freedom. And the first law God gave man was life, God breathing the
[5:15] man the breath of life. But then the second law gave man God gave
[5:18] man was actually the law of law. God told the man, don't touch
[5:23] that tree. In other words, I've discovered that Adam was given the power
[5:27] of law, and he had the choice to obey it or not obey it.
[5:30] He disobeyed it, and the whole system fell apart. We call it
[5:35] the fall of Man. Adam's collapse was simply the disobedience to law. And
[5:41] when I read the Book of Moses, by the way, Moses was not
[5:44] a religious man. He was a lawyer. The first thing God gave Moses
[5:48] was law, the Ten Commandments. Law was the foundation of the nation of
[5:55] Israel, not religion. And Moses's job was to teach the people the law,
[6:00] the laws of God, because he was the first official global lawyer,
[6:04] and his legal activity is still affecting our nations today. We build our countries
[6:11] on what Moses God from God. Remember, I ask you, who is
[6:14] the source of your law? Moses didn't create his own law, He got
[6:18] it from someone else. And the source of your law determines the quality of
[6:23] your law. And that's why God told Moses, we're going to start a
[6:27] nation. But here's where we start. We started with law, and I
[6:30] want to read this to you very important what Moses wrote in the Book of
[6:33] Genesis, his first book of law. Moses said, the Lord God took
[6:39] the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and to
[6:44] take care of it Genesis two, verse sixteen. And the Lord God commanded
[6:47] the man and said, you are free. Everybody say free. He said,
[6:53] you are free to eat from what any tree? What us sounds good
[6:57] to a Bahamian. It's like going to a buffet. You are free to
[7:02] eat from any tree. Blank check. We love freedom, don't we.
[7:14] God told Adam you are free to eat from any tree in the garden.
[7:19] Guarantee. Freedom is liberty, and freedom is basically liberty over a domain.
[7:30] Freedom means to literally control or have liberty to rule a domain. But the
[7:36] problem that we forget is that God's next statement that atom was but do not
[7:42] touch the tree. Can you please write this down? The greatest ideal of
[7:46] nations is freedom. We cherish freedom. The Western world pursues freedom as the
[7:55] ultimate pursuit of national life. However, we got a concern. Freedom without
[8:00] law is anarchy, So you're not free without law. In other words,
[8:07] law protects freedom from anarchy. You are free within the boundaries of laws.
[8:16] This is why I'm very concerned about our nations lately talking about rights. Not
[8:22] all rights are right, and people may demand I have a right to do
[8:30] this. Well, you know, they had a big march yesterday and a
[8:33] big concert in Colorado and thousand people showed up yesterday. I was in America.
[8:37] This morning. I just got back and I saw a big celebration being
[8:41] on television. Thousand people because marijuana is free in Colorado, they say,
[8:48] And in the middle of the celebration of her gunshots. Now they're wondering if
[8:54] that was a good idea to free the people that just smoke marijuna. In
[8:58] other words, you have a right to smoke, but is it right to
[9:01] smoke marijuana freely? So let me talk about freedom. There has to be
[9:09] boundaries to freedom. You are free to drive your car, but you must
[9:13] stop out a red light. You are free to eat anything you want,
[9:18] just make sure you can take the weight off afterwards. There are laws.
[9:24] You are free to drink rubbing alcohol free, but we'll bury you in the
[9:30] morning. So freedom has to have what laws. There's no freedom without law,
[9:35] and this is why when we talk about law, law is the most
[9:39] important thing in life because it even protects your freedom. When we talk about
[9:43] a country, I want to give you a simple national definition of a country.
[9:48] A nation is defined as a community of people committed to a common heritage.
[9:52] They are committed to a common language and land mass and jurisprudence. They
[9:56] are committed to ideals that are common values and governance, and they have submitted
[10:01] usually to one God. This is what makes a nation a nation. And
[10:05] what's important here is all strong nations are submitted to certain ideals or ideas or
[10:13] certain philosophies that make them common. We call these ideologies and ideologies an idea
[10:22] that we all agree is worthy of submission to it. And that's what gives
[10:26] us unity in a country. And that's why a nation comes together around belief
[10:31] systems or law. Now, there are three things that make a nation and
[10:33] nation. One is freedom. Freedom is the right to pursue your aspirations and
[10:39] to practice individual convictions in a country. Independence, however, is your national
[10:46] right of determining your own future. But sovereignty is a problem with us today.
[10:52] Sovereignty is the right to self governance and determination and the supremacy of your
[10:58] natural and national authority, not ruled by any other state or institution. The
[11:05] reason why I'm mentioning this is because we have this thing we call the Community
[11:09] of Nations, which is very dangerous because there seemed to be the dilution and
[11:16] the disillusion and the dissolving of sovereignty where nations are no longer sovereign. Not
[11:24] just another country, but an organization could actually change your laws, make it
[11:31] a condition for you to get help financially, which means that your sovereignty is
[11:37] in the hands of a few people sitting at a boardroom in Europe who got
[11:41] some money. Now, do we want to submit our countries to be ruled
[11:46] by external powers to the point where our values are eroded and our convictions are
[11:54] sacrificed on the altar of a few dollars, that's the question. How much
[12:03] do we mean by sovereignty? Does there come a point where we tell the
[12:07] Community of Nations as for us, we will not do that. We just
[12:13] cannot sacrifice our convictions as a collective corporate community. On the altar of just
[12:20] getting a couple of dollars to bill a road you're acquired on me, that's
[12:24] okay. In otherwise, there has to be some rules laid down where we
[12:28] say there is some boundaries you can cross in our local commitment. And this
[12:37] is why the sovereignty of a country must be either redefined or defined. Either
[12:46] we are sovereign or we are not. I love what it says. You
[12:50] know. The absence of law is disorder. And this is why law is
[12:56] so important, because the key to life is law. The source of order
[13:00] is law. The ultimate law of life is law. There is nothing more
[13:05] important than life than law. I believe it all my heart. I've come
[13:09] to the conclusion that law protects, sustains, preserves, gods, and promotes
[13:13] life. If you obey law, you live. It's like a fish remaining
[13:16] in water. If you stay in water, you live. If you put
[13:20] the seed in the soil, it grows. Once you obey laws, then
[13:24] things happen naturally for your progress and your development. And therefore, without law,
[13:28] there is no definition in life. Law defines us. Who we are
[13:33] as a country will be defined by the laws we embrace and the foundation of
[13:39] all true nations is law. National laws are built to strengthen and protect and
[13:46] preserve countries, and they are sustaining us right now. You know, a
[13:50] few weeks ago we had the founding fathers here on this stage and one of
[13:54] the things they said repeatedly is we must be careful before we change to me
[14:00] things. And they said, make sure we understand what we have before we
[14:03] try to change it. And I kept wondering why they kept repeating that.
[14:07] What they're saying is we thought through this for a long time. Don't think
[14:11] this is just a lightly put together document. That this is a very very
[14:15] sacred document that was prayed over. We thought about our people, our country,
[14:20] and we must not just temper with it because it's forty is no anniversary
[14:28] should pressure you to change the law. And this is important. In other
[14:35] words, all societies must adhere to law, and communities are produced by law.
[14:41] What makes us a country is the law that we accept as being our
[14:46] agreed upon standards, and that's why we can live together in communities. Now,
[14:50] let me just say a couple of thoughts about the Kingdom of God and
[14:52] how it works in law before we wrap this up. Write this down,
[14:58] please. The purpose of God was to extend the Kingdom of Heaven to earth.
[15:01] That's what God wanted. And a kingdom of heaven is a country.
[15:05] It's actually a real country, and it has laws, it has a government,
[15:09] it has a king. His name is Jehovah. And all nations are
[15:11] built on law. So is the Kingdom of God. And the first thing
[15:16] God gave Adam was law. The fall of man was men. Man violated
[15:20] law, and law produced and actually it protects and preserves us if we obey
[15:26] it. Our nation fell apart because Adam disobeyed the law, and the national
[15:31] protection against chaos is law. I look at our country today, and our
[15:37] country defined basically as a lawless country, highest crime rates in our history,
[15:41] seem to be perpetrating our communities, and it's basically just lawlessness. And I'm
[15:50] so proud and happy to hear our attorney generals speak today that there's going to
[15:54] be an aggressive approach from the legal department of solving crimes quickly. We all
[16:00] know, of course, our legal minds would tell you that justice delayed is
[16:03] what justice denied. Another way, the longer you take to solve it,
[16:07] the more you encourage it. So if there is a clear cut procedure to
[16:14] bring closure to these issues, we begin to send a message that you don't
[16:18] get away if you break the law. Give God a hand for an attempt
[16:22] to solve that problem. I want to give you a concept that maybe haven't
[16:30] been thought of before, and that is I want to talk about God's strategy
[16:36] for nations. I have traveled to over one hundred countries. I've met with
[16:41] governments. I've had the privilege of sitting in the halls of justice with many
[16:45] nations. I've had the privilege of being advised and also to become an advisor.
[16:49] And I have always amazed that all humans are the same. We're looking
[16:53] for the same thing. We're looking for a good life, a safe life.
[16:59] We want to but I want you to know where that came from.
[17:03] God's original purpose was not the birth of a religion. God gave out him
[17:08] a country, and God's plan has always been a country a nation. I
[17:15] want to read from the Bible why God said he called Abraham. Abraham is
[17:23] the first man God called. After the first nation fell apart, he tried
[17:30] to fix it through now and Nor became an alcoholic. So God decided to
[17:36] use Abraham's great grandson, I mean Noah's great grandson, Abraham. Here's what
[17:41] God said to Abraham, and listen carefully to the words He says. Surely
[17:47] you will become a what a great nation, not a great religion. God
[17:52] never created Judaism. The goal of God for Abraham was what to build a
[17:59] nation. The Bahamas is trying to build a good nation. We are very
[18:03] young, and God is saying, follow my criteria, follow my strategy.
[18:11] I'm gonna build a great nation of the view, he says, and all
[18:15] the natures of the earth will be what blessed through you. God never called
[18:19] Abraham to begin a religion. He began him calling to begin a country.
[18:26] Read it there, which means that if you follow Abraham's process, God was
[18:32] working on building a country, not a religion. Judaism has reduced Abraham to
[18:38] the founding of a religion. Abraham never supposed to found a religion. God
[18:45] never told him to. He said to found a country. Because God's eye
[18:49] there was always a country, not a religion. Christianity has become a religion.
[18:59] Let's read Exodus chapter nineteen. God said, if you obey me fully
[19:04] and keep my covenant, then out of all the nations, you will be
[19:08] for me a treasured possession. And although the whole earth is mine, he
[19:12] says, you will be for me what a kingdom of priests and a holy
[19:17] What nation? Not a holy religion? When me talk about national development,
[19:23] It's God's number one desire. He closes by saying, these are the words
[19:30] you are to speak to the people of Israel. They are to become a
[19:33] nation. And holy simply means different. Can you write that down? Why
[19:38] not a religious word? It simply means different. Set upon unique? He
[19:44] said, I want you to be a different country. Why because there were
[19:47] so many other nations around, the Canaanites, the Hittites, the bo Sites,
[19:51] the Jebusites, all these other religions, he says, countries. Rather,
[19:55] he says, I want you to be unique. Now, what can
[19:56] make a country unique? What makes a country different? God actually tells them
[20:00] the first thing God gave Moses Abraham's following was law. God told Moses,
[20:08] go and get the people who were slaves. Let's make a country. And
[20:12] the first thing God gave Abraham was law, which means that law is the
[20:18] foundation of national development. And those laws God gave Abraham Moses rather a very
[20:23] specific and very clear matter of fact. They are so good we use them
[20:26] today, four thousand years later, we still use what God gave Abraham.
[20:33] Thou should not steal, Thou should not kill. Thou should not cover your
[20:36] neighbor's goods. Thou should not committed adultry. Thou shalt not tell lies that
[20:40] you know. Do not disobey your parents. If you think about those laws,
[20:45] not a one of those laws are bad for social development. I don't
[20:51] think anyone could improve in the Dead Commandments nowhere in the world. You think
[20:57] about those laws, they are not for a religious development, they are for
[21:02] national development. And when we start quoting scripture, people start thinking me talking
[21:07] religion, and so they say things like, we don't want the church to
[21:10] get involved in government. What are you talking about. You stole God's laws,
[21:14] that is government. Every law you study in law school came from the
[21:22] Bible, but you won't admit it. As a matter of fact. We
[21:26] steal God's material, but don't give him credit. Let's give him credit today,
[21:30] thank him for the laws that he gave us. That's what we have
[21:33] to do, and that's why I hope we never stop acknowledging God in this
[21:38] country because you ain't smart enough to produce a law better than God's law.
[21:42] You ain't smart enough to do that, and so therefore the first thing God
[21:47] gave Abraham and most of was law to start the country. Look at exit
[21:51] Chapter one. God says, these are the words you are to speak.
[21:55] These are the laws you are to set before the people. God's talking about
[21:59] building a country to what slaves. Let's look at the laws. Look at
[22:04] you, one me Chapter four vers Nine. Only be carefully, he says,
[22:07] and watch yourselves closely, so that you do not forget the things your
[22:11] eyes have seen, or let them slip from your heart. As long as
[22:14] you live. Teach these laws to your children and to their children after them.
[22:19] In other words, God is saying, teach the laws in school.
[22:23] When I was growing up in the Bahamas, in prep school on top of
[22:27] Augusta Street, every time I walk in the classroom there was a big poster
[22:32] with the Ten Commandments. And I was a little kid, you know,
[22:34] with green pants and long white socks and the dirty shirt. And every morning
[22:38] we had to stand up and quote the ten Commandments. That's why I don't
[22:42] teath today. They ingrained in us the laws. How come we're not doing
[22:53] that today in our classrooms. Most of our behamen children know nothing about the
[22:59] Ten Commandments. We need our educating system to reinstate the requirement for learning the
[23:06] ten laws of God in our country, why they are good for social development.
[23:11] Can I hear an amen, look at Judomache at the four verse five.
[23:15] Let read together loud, go sing. See. I have taught you
[23:18] decrees and laws, as the Lord my God commanded me, so that you
[23:22] may follow them in the land that you are entering to take possession of it.
[23:27] Observe them carefully, for this will show your wisdom and understanding to who
[23:33] the other nations? Who will hear about what your laws and they will understand
[23:40] your decrees? Read the last statement. Surely the people will say, other
[23:44] countries will say what this is a great nation, is a wise and understanding
[23:48] people. Yes, I want to say to you right now. According to
[23:52] God, the one thing that's supposed to distinguish from other countries is not your
[23:56] economy, not your gambling system, not your beaches. Read it, not
[24:07] even your democracy. He said. What will distinguish you from the other countries,
[24:11] what will make them say that you are different, is the laws you
[24:15] upell as a country. This is important because you see other countries are trying
[24:23] to get you to change your laws so they can accept you. God says,
[24:30] it is the laws you refuse to compromise on that separates you from them.
[24:34] I would rather be known as a country who got laws that we will
[24:37] not violate and not compromise on, and let that go to the nations and
[24:41] said that country is different. Do you want to be different like everybody else?
[24:45] We are so busy trying to fit in, we never stand out.
[24:52] Some years ago, when a ship wanted to come here with a lot of
[24:56] homosexuals, oh, I'm must say it, which went downtown and said,
[25:00] look, no you can't come on our doc and everybody got excited. The
[25:03] next day we were on CNN ABC. I'm so glad, I'm so proud.
[25:08] I said, there's a country that says you can talk here with that
[25:11] system. You can come as a tourist, but don't bring your culture here
[25:15] because we don't want that in our system. We were proud to be what
[25:19] different. I want you to read that verse again please, because this verse
[25:30] is very important for the Bahamas right now because we are under pressure. Let's
[25:34] read again. Go see. I have taught you decrees and the laws of
[25:40] the Lord, my God, as he commanded me, so that you may
[25:42] follow them in the land you are entering to possess. Observe them carefully,
[25:48] he says, for this will show your wisdom and understanding to who the other
[25:53] nations who will hear about what your laws and your decrees. And they were
[26:00] saying they're gonna talk about you. This nation is a great Listen. You
[26:08] want to be great, be different, said Loud. If you want to
[26:12] be great, you be different. God is saying that the laws your country
[26:22] upheld are the distinguishing factors that make you different. We don't discriminate against other
[26:29] people. We just decide what we want to do. And I was on
[26:33] a television program yesterday being interviewed in Texas, and we were talking about,
[26:37] you know, discrimination, And I told the gentleman, I says, you
[26:41] know something, it's impossible not to discriminate. Every decision is discrimination. So
[26:47] let's stop talking about discrimination. It's over. If I decide to go left,
[26:51] that means I discriminate against right. Come on, try it's simple.
[26:56] Don't get deep about this. If I decide that I want to go up.
[27:03] That means I discriminate against you down. So don't think you can include.
[27:10] You can be inclusive everything you canna discriminate. When we got this idea,
[27:15] you know where you discriminate against you? Yes, distcriminate against you.
[27:18] I do. We discriminated against the legal immigrants, don't we Why? Of
[27:22] course we got laws that we uphold. How come they don't claim discrimination against
[27:27] us? Everything is discrimination. Every decision you have to decide against something,
[27:37] to decide or something. I'm on, clap mind, don't get default.
[27:42] See we can just you know, and people get up, they argue,
[27:45] you know, they argue this intellectual argue. Once you know, how about
[27:48] you know, well you know what you did? Discriminate against me? Yes,
[27:51] it does, because we gotta decide something. Everybody can be right,
[27:56] say it, man, talk to me mine. Everybody can be right right.
[28:02] Matter of fact, I have an idea. You know, I'm gonna
[28:03] drive over here this afternoon, and I ain't gonna stop at no red light.
[28:07] You'll discriminate against me. I feel like driving through any light I want.
[28:12] I have a right to do it. No red light, you discriminate
[28:18] against a guy who want to go through it. So the country has to
[28:22] have standards it won't violate. This is why God says, it's your laws
[28:32] that will distinguish you from other countries. I hope you remember this, please
[28:36] or your lawyers. It's the laws that distinguish you. Not the economy,
[28:40] not the public treasury, not the economic development. It's the laws, he
[28:44] says, what makes you different. It's the laws. You know, when
[28:48] you come to my house, I have a house. You know, it's
[28:49] my house, and I pay for my house paid for. That's my yard
[28:53] and my house. You walking there, you gotta abide by my laws.
[29:03] You can't walk in my house and do what you feel like. You don't
[29:08] talk to me. You ever heard this house rules? Even assembly got house
[29:15] rules, right, the whole host house. Every house got rules. I
[29:18] might right, better get every age. Everybody got house rules. So the
[29:21] Bahamas is our house, and we got some rules. So don't go around
[29:27] shopping for new laws and try to bring'em back to the Bahamas. We
[29:30] got our own house, mine yours showed me a little bit of suspect here,
[29:34] even calling these fellas going around shopping a lot of the world, and
[29:37] you know, well, you know, we want liberty, We wanna be
[29:40] more. You know a liberal. Listen, we got laws in this house.
[29:45] My daddy's a save. You can't live by the law, go find
[29:48] another place to live. See it right, that's not her daddy's sun up.
[29:51] No, daddy eighty eighty eight years old. My daddy said, you
[29:56] can't wear my law. Go find somewhere else to sleep but a kelly.
[30:03] That's how you look when you eighty eight. In other words, people get
[30:07] this excited about the Bahamas, you'd just fall in line, missus Attorney General.
[30:17] You know how I feel now, you go fix it up. That's
[30:22] my sister. All I wanted my sister, I'll beat you up. I
[30:29] aksd her one day I said, miss I said, miss Astorney General,
[30:32] why don't you wanna invite me to go with your to the United Nations meetings?
[30:34] Man, I won't sit in that room so I could give him some
[30:41] intellectual stimulation on realities of righteousness. I'm not impressed with those people. You
[30:52] know what I mean? It Sis, Mama, Sorry, Mama, that's
[30:55] my sister. This is mamma. You understand me. We get the rules
[30:57] of our house. Are you know obatter rules? My daddy saying I can
[31:03] time your hide that's what prison is. You're time your hide. So we
[31:08] must never forget that law distinguishes us from other countries. Closing Deuteronomy seven four
[31:22] very seven, reader, loud, go what other nation I'm quoting the Bible?
[31:26] Now? What other nation God says is so great as to have their
[31:30] gods near them? Like the Lord, our God is near the Bahamas whenever
[31:36] we pray to him. He lives in the Bahamas. You all know that,
[31:37] right. But at verse eight, and what other nation is so great
[31:41] as to have such righteous decrees and laws as this body of law that I
[31:48] am setting before you today, He says, this nation is unique because of
[31:52] its laws. When you start accommodating international laws without discrimination, you are decreasing
[32:06] your distinction. You are becoming common. God says, it's this body of
[32:17] law that makes you unique. And this is why I say to every legal
[32:22] mind here today that you will honor God and you will be careful how you
[32:28] not only disseminate law, but the way you create them, or how you
[32:31] even agree with them or vote against them. Because this is the unique distinction.
[32:37] I tell people, God live in the Bahamas. Everywhere I go,
[32:40] one hundred and twelve countries I told him come see God in the Bahamas.
[32:45] So we got a law. You can't walk down Bay Street were a bikini.
[32:50] That's a law, and that's against the law to do that, right,
[32:52] it's against the law. Exposure. You discriminate against me. I feel
[32:58] like you're in a bikini. Yes, ma'am. We discriminated against you.
[33:00] We had a police right there put on your pants. Why we have a
[33:07] certain dignity in our country, a certain standard we won't violate for you.
[33:15] We discriminate. They say, this is supposed to be a playground for the
[33:20] world. We can walk around with our bress out, can you They gonna
[33:27] fight for that soon? Are we gonna stand against the tide? Let me
[33:35] say one thing, friends, this term current affairs is a very serious affair
[33:40] because the current is strong. And if you are in the midst of a
[33:45] world where the current is flowing so hard, you cannot be sand. You
[33:54] have to be what rock. Our constitution is not rock. Our constitution is
[34:07] an anchor. Anchors are useless in a boat. Mister Kelly, you notice
[34:19] true, right you are famous sail salesman, sales sailing captain, sailor,
[34:24] Yeah, sailor, a salesman sailor. What every law. It's a salesman
[34:28] too, But he's a sailor. Now he will tell you that no matter
[34:32] how powerful your anchor is, how good it is, how strong it is,
[34:37] how expensive it is, it is useless in a storm. I'm all
[34:42] right, sir, totally useless because it has to find what rock. See,
[34:50] our constitution is simply an anchor. The question is who do we put
[34:55] our constitution on. Who do we hook it up to? The Bible says,
[35:01] blessed is the nation whose God is the law. Ancors move, but
[35:17] when they're on a rock, they protect the boat. The Bahamas is a
[35:22] big ship, and the Constitution is the anchor. You better find a god
[35:29] who doesn't move to secure our nation. That's why we believe that without God,
[35:37] our country will be destroyed. And this is why I say again,
[35:40] I repeat it again, the preamble must be made a substantive part of the
[35:45] constitution so that that rock will never move. Can I hear an amen?
[35:49] Come on your clap? Do you grieve me? Clap it that? Huh?
[35:52] We need that preamble to say we believe in the principles of the Bible
[35:57] as our rock. So the ven you start discuss the law. You gotta
[36:00] rock to hold you so you don't drift off into some stuff. Any nation
[36:09] that forgets God becomes a drifting country. Let me close with these statements.
[36:15] Laws protect, but they are protected by obedience. Write this down. You
[36:20] cannot protect the law unless you obey it. Laws are protected by what obedience.
[36:25] That means if you allow people to disobey law, they are destroying the
[36:30] law. This is why we can allow policemen to do what they feel like,
[36:37] or defense force officers or commissioners, or politicians or lawyers. I'm so
[36:45] glad in the bar home. I'm so proud of you. But the manna
[36:47] get that bar tight. If they can't obey the law, get rid of
[36:52] them, make them law less. In other words, people must protect the
[36:59] law by oh paying the law. One of my concerns in my country is
[37:06] that I ain't sure who could arrest the Prime Minister if he violates the law.
[37:12] Is there a system in place? I don't know? Is there such
[37:16] compromising a system that he can never be touched. There should never be anyone
[37:22] in the Bahamas bigger than the law. Can you arrest MPs without having to
[37:34] go through all kinds of persecution. You know, I love those countries you
[37:44] know who, like England, they put them in jail, at least in
[37:47] England. I like the way they do it to it. You know,
[37:50] if if an MP mess up, he know he in trouble, so he's
[37:53] resigned. Come on, clop right there, we gotta come. We gotta
[37:57] become like that. Just resign. Go. Do you know what they call
[38:06] comesy like ours? Rule of law. Rule of law means that we are
[38:10] ruled by the law. We're not ruled by the government. The law supposed
[38:15] to rule everybody. And I heard there's some systems in our country where you
[38:24] can go before the cord guilty. But flash, you ring, this a
[38:30] demonic. You better stop that. You compromising the law. You and your
[38:36] ring go to jail. You and your ring go to jail. If you
[38:39] break the law, you'll better go with mean. Now listen, I ain't
[38:42] got no problem. If you shoot me, I'll come back. We need
[38:47] to be careful, brother. When you compromise the law, you're destroying the
[38:52] country. The law is bigger than all of us. That's why God told
[39:00] Moses teach the law to the children, unto your children's children, that they
[39:06] may obey them. When you disobey the law, you destroy the law.
[39:09] Look at number three. This is important. Laws are protected by agreement.
[39:13] If we all agree we can live by certain standards. We agree. That's
[39:17] why you have the legal profession and you have the bar. Everybody say,
[39:21] we agree, this is what we gonna do as a standard. So when
[39:24] you violate the agreement, then we supposed to discipline you. Anybody against you
[39:30] personally, you chose your own problem if you violate the agreement or the lawyers
[39:36] clapp. Now you're making me nervous. Other layers clap or lawyer's clapp.
[39:38] Yeah. See. In other words, we agree that we're gonna live at
[39:42] a certain standard. In the Bahamas, everybody got abide by it. I
[39:46] got number four very important. Laws are protected by what understanding them. That's
[39:50] why we give you the constitution. That's why we are teaching you the constitutional
[39:53] elements so you can understand the laws you're supposed to obey. And I love
[39:57] this one. Laws are protected by discipline. This is important. If someone
[40:00] breaks the law and you don't discipline them, you encourage those who didn't break
[40:06] it yet to break it. My father and mother were so cool, you
[40:13] know, see, daddy said, I can innocent. My daddy said,
[40:16] this can hurt you more than me. I say right. He took the
[40:20] belt, turned into the buckle side. He said, my son, this
[40:24] can hurt me more than it hurt you. Now, I said, like
[40:28] my father to discipline me. Because my father, you know, he was
[40:30] quick. You know, paap, I cry go home. My mother was
[40:35] more dangerous. She used to discipline us by sentences. Didn't I tell you
[40:43] not to go out in the I said, Mom talked fast. Please,
[40:51] anybody had that problem with to see hands? All those yeah, see,
[40:53] all of you all are good people. All you all are good people.
[41:00] And my mom left my daddy beaten. Lack of discipline increases lawlessness, right,
[41:10] That's why the courts gotta work fast. You know that. I understand
[41:15] that a lot of the guys who commit in crime are those who are on
[41:17] bell, which means that the system is breaking down so badly that the guys
[41:22] that say, hey, don't wory about that man, you can go on
[41:23] bell like me. We gotta make sure that discipline hits and hits as quickly
[41:30] as possible through the process to make sure that people get the message. You
[41:34] do you do the crime. You do the time. Law brings discipline,
[41:42] but discipline protects the law. I remember when I stole the Trumpans. You'll
[41:50] know trumpets. See now I know my my, my father, Kelly know
[41:53] what trumpings is, right, see the young you know what trumpings is,
[41:57] the Trumps, the treatments and trumpets. I stole Trumpans. I almost died.
[42:05] I got whooping for a trumpance. Discipline, and I am afraid to
[42:08] touch money if I see it on the ground. Wonder who that ay?
[42:13] And that thing is still in my head, so I remember it. I
[42:15] was six, It's still in my mind. Don't touch what it's not yours.
[42:19] And it was in our house. It was my mother's trumpets. She
[42:22] says yeah, but she said, I'm whoop. You're not because of the
[42:23] Trumpans. I don't want you to touch other people's things anymore. And she
[42:27] whailed my tail. I couldn't sit down for three days. That's why I'm
[42:30] not in jail today. Discipline look at number six. Loss are protected by
[42:42] what self control. You feel like one in the red light. You are
[42:45] late for your appointment, But you gotta control yourself. You know. I
[42:50] have a son and daughter brought her Emma with us now here in the organization.
[42:53] My son is here this morning, and you know, I used to
[42:55] don't like to be with them too often when I'm driving, because we teach
[43:00] them, you know, you must obey the law. And they in the
[43:02] back of the see the car you know, and nothing. You know.
[43:05] The delight turn orange and I go through. But my son must say,
[43:08] daddy as they shut up, say daddy, you told us not to run
[43:14] the red lake. They used to convict me. They learn the law by
[43:23] making sure I kept it as well. They wanted me to have self control,
[43:29] so they self control for their sake. Do right for other people.
[43:34] Say it. There are people watching you. Even when you break the law.
[43:37] They want you in you they're learning how to break it. If you
[43:42] keep it, they learn how to keep it. And that's why we must
[43:45] as a people constantly respect and honor the law as the protection of our country.
[43:50] And look at the last one, number seven. It's very important.
[43:52] It says here that laws are protected by what fear. You know, what's
[43:58] wrong in our country. People ain't afraid no more, no fear. The
[44:04] faith God is what the beginning of wisdom. When you have fear in your
[44:07] life, you become wise. I had a teacher named Miss Hannah, Carolyn
[44:15] Hannah. Some of'em may know her. I was at a R I
[44:16] used to go to Robinson Road High School. I U still remember this,
[44:19] you know, nineteen seventy one, I guess, and I remember. She
[44:23] came in the classroom one time and she was teaching, she was teaching biology.
[44:29] And you know what she did. She bought in the classroom a photograph
[44:35] of a lung, a human lung, beautiful photograph of pink, you know,
[44:39] lung, real lung. And then she bought another photograph of someone who
[44:44] smoked for twenty years and it was like charcoal. And she said, now,
[44:50] kids, you're gonna decide what you wanna be, like this or like
[44:53] this. She put the fair guard at me that day. I never touched
[44:58] a cigarette. In other words, the fear of having that lung made me
[45:07] say no to cigarettes as a kid. She put fear in me. We
[45:14] need to restore fear in our community. These young people have no fear.
[45:20] They come in your house in the middle of the day and tie you up.
[45:24] No fear. Walk into a bank and try to play a movie in
[45:30] the bank, no fear. Big day. We need fear back in our
[45:37] community, and fair will come back when we execute law and justice. So
[45:50] it is my prayer that the day will be another day that we make a
[45:54] decision as a people that we are going to respect, honor, and obey
[45:59] the law of our country. And we want to thank God for lawyers and
[46:02] judges and justices who are in the heat of this battle fighting against lawlessness.
[46:08] And I want to encourage every lawyer here today to never sacrifice your oath of
[46:14] justice and integrity for any money. I know there are some basic fundamentals in
[46:22] our community about representation, but if you know somebody is violating the law,
[46:27] and you know for sure that they are guilty, please tell them I can't
[46:30] represent you. Man, My integrity doesn't allow me to lie for you.
[46:34] You are better clap matter. This is important business because you see, the
[46:38] minute you start a lie for a person, you are a liar too,
[46:45] and that person will know you lie, and they will tell their friends you
[46:50] lie, and their friend will tell your mamma, you lie. You must
[46:53] have an integrity that won't be bent, have a conviction that will not be
[46:58] sacrificed. You must have an that is intact, a character that is stable,
[47:01] and you say, based on my convictions, I will never violate my
[47:06] conscience. The only thing you sleep with in the night is your conscience,
[47:14] right only you know. What you know is what you do when no one
[47:23] is watching. That really matters is what you do in secret. That really
[47:29] is your real life. Let's live clean, Let's do what's right in our
[47:34] country. Let's ask God to give us again a fear for the law.
[47:38] Close your bibles, let's pray. Father, thank you for this great team
[47:45] of legal minds. Thank you for each one of them who gave their lives
[47:52] to protect the integrity of the law. Thank you for those who sat on
[47:55] the bench, served in the courts. Thank you Lord, for those who
[48:02] defended the poor, those who fought for justice in the community, those who
[48:09] came against the odds in order to do what's right. Thank you for them.
[48:14] Lord. I pray especial blessing from Heaven upon them today because of what
[48:17] they did. Lord, give them long life, Heal their sicknesses, protect
[48:22] their children, cover their homes, bless their marriages. We thank you for
[48:28] them, and Lord, as we leave this place, we will not leave
[48:30] your presence. We thank you that you are going to be our source of
[48:36] law. Help us not to stray away from the fundamentals of what you lay
[48:42] down for us. Help us not to become so modern that we become godless.
[48:51] Help us to never grow away from you, maybe never become so advanced
[48:58] that we left you for And I can eat a rock, be our stable
[49:05] rock. And we give you thanks for making this the beginning of a new
[49:10] commitment. On the fortieth year of our anniversary. I thank you again for
[49:16] those who are honor today. Lord, I bless them, We love them,
[49:22] we love their families, and we pray as you will continue to give
[49:25] them strength and wisdom and let them Lord contribute back again, maybe in writing
[49:30] books that our young unborn children we could read what they learned. Use them,
[49:37] Lord to speak to the unborn generation, capture their wisdom, and give
[49:44] them their desire to write. We also pray that you will cause our young
[49:49] legal minds to have values and morals that are strong in God, that they
[49:53] will never violate the conscience that you put in them, which is the Holy
[49:59] Spirit. I'll give you thanks again for a new beginning. May your name
