[0:00] Speaker 1: Austin is on the phone today for To Catch a Cheater,
[0:02] Speaker 1: and he's been with his girlfriend, Chloe, for eight months,
[0:04] Speaker 1: but now he thinks she might be cheating, so we'll
[0:06] Speaker 1: see if we can help him out. Before we do that, though, Austin,
[0:09] Speaker 1: why do you think that your girlfriend, Chloe, is cheating
[0:11] Speaker 1: on you?
[0:13] Speaker 2: Well, the big tip is that she keeps getting flowers
[0:17] Speaker 2: from her office, but I don't think that they're coming
[0:21] Speaker 2: from her office.
[0:22] Speaker 3: Well.
[0:22] Speaker 1: Why don't you think that?
[0:24] Speaker 4: Oh. Uh.
[0:27] Speaker 2: Here's the situation. We've actually been dating for eight months.
[0:31] Speaker 2: We don't live together, but she stays at my place
[0:33] Speaker 2: a couple nights a week. She has her own apartment.
[0:37] Speaker 2: I've actually never been over there eight months in. And
[0:40] Speaker 2: she says it's because her roommate works nights and is
[0:43] Speaker 2: really weird about having guys over. So every couple weeks...
[0:48] Speaker 2: Chloe shows up at my apartment with these expensive-looking file arrangements,
[0:52] Speaker 2: says that her company sends them whenever somebody lands a
[0:55] Speaker 2: big client or does something impressive. which I actually thought
[1:00] Speaker 2: it was cool that her company appreciates her that way.
[1:03] Speaker 2: I even joked that I needed to get a job
[1:06] Speaker 2: there because when my company, uh, earns a million dollars,
[1:10] Speaker 2: we get a pizza party, you know?
[1:14] Speaker 1: Oh, cool. That's fun. Yeah.
[1:17] Speaker 5: Yeah.
[1:18] Speaker 1: I'd rather have a pizza party than flowers.
[1:21] Speaker 4: Right.
[1:22] Speaker 2: The weird thing is she's like ridiculously protective of these flowers. She,
[1:29] Speaker 2: Removes a card, like, before she brings them inside. And
[1:33] Speaker 2: one time I just jokingly said, like, oh, you must
[1:36] Speaker 2: have a secret admirer. And she got so annoyed and
[1:39] Speaker 2: told me I was being insecure. And I should be
[1:42] Speaker 2: happy that she's successful. Okay.
[1:45] Speaker 1: That seems like a strange reaction. It does.
[1:47] Speaker 3: But do you think if she was cheating on you,
[1:48] Speaker 3: she'd actually bring those flowers to you?
[1:51] Speaker 2: I'm... She puts them in a vase. She, it's like,
[1:58] Speaker 2: I just can't, I just can't figure it out. Like,
[2:00] Speaker 2: I just can't figure out why she's so protective of them.
[2:04] Speaker 5: Yeah.
[2:06] Speaker 2: Then a few weeks ago, I, I wanted to surprise
[2:09] Speaker 2: her at work with lunch. Like what kind of normal,
[2:12] Speaker 2: I think anyone's partner would be psyched to have their
[2:15] Speaker 2: significant other surprise them with lunch at work. And she
[2:19] Speaker 2: freaked out and was, adamant about me not stopping by there,
[2:26] Speaker 2: said that her company has this strict policy against unannounced visitors,
[2:31] Speaker 2: which is odd because she's told me stories of other
[2:34] Speaker 2: people's boyfriends or husbands or whatever stopping by at work.
[2:38] Speaker 2: So it just doesn't make any sense. Then more recently,
[2:44] Speaker 2: she's been spending a lot of weekends visiting her mom,
[2:48] Speaker 2: who apparently needs a lot of help around the house.
[2:52] Speaker 2: Between all these things, I just have a weird feeling.
[2:55] Speaker 2: I have a gut feeling that something's going on.
[2:56] Speaker 3: Okay.
[2:56] Speaker 1: Right in the middle of To Catch a Cheater, and
[2:58] Speaker 1: if you're just joining us, Austin is on the phone,
[3:01] Speaker 1: and he thinks that his girlfriend Chloe of eight months
[3:04] Speaker 1: might be messing around, and it's all because of flowers
[3:07] Speaker 1: that she's been getting delivered to her at work. She
[3:09] Speaker 1: says it's for a work thing, but when you ask
[3:12] Speaker 1: her about the flowers, Austin, she gets really defensive, right?
[3:15] Speaker 2: Defensive is an understatement. Okay.
[3:17] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[3:18] Speaker 1: All right, and you just have a feeling that something's
[3:20] Speaker 1: going on and somebody else is sending her those flowers?
[3:23] Speaker 2: I've got a gut feeling. It's just super weird.
[3:26] Speaker 1: Okay, well, here we go. I'm going to call her
[3:28] Speaker 1: from the grocery store that she's a rewards card member
[3:30] Speaker 1: at and tell her that she's this month's lucky winner
[3:32] Speaker 1: of a Thinking of You gift box, and we'll see
[3:34] Speaker 1: who she sends that to, okay?
[3:36] Speaker 2: All right, let's do it.
[3:37] Speaker 1: Here we go.
[3:41] Speaker 2: Hi, this is Chloe.
[3:42] Speaker 1: Hey, this is Corbett calling from S * * * Grocers.
[3:44] Speaker 1: I was looking for our rewards card member named Chloe P.
[3:49] Speaker 5: Yeah, this is me.
[3:50] Speaker 1: Hey, Chloe, please don't hang up. This is not a
[3:52] Speaker 1: marketing phone call. I'm actually calling to say congratulations. You're
[3:55] Speaker 1: this month's big winner. Congrats. Thank you so much for
[4:02] Speaker 1: shopping with us.
[4:03] Speaker 5: Oh, okay.
[4:05] Speaker 1: Well, maybe you didn't know this, but every single month
[4:07] Speaker 1: we choose one rewards card member to say thank you
[4:10] Speaker 1: very much for being such a loyal customer with a
[4:12] Speaker 1: free gift. And this month it's a Thinking of You
[4:14] Speaker 1: gift box. It comes with a nice assortment of Gourmet chocolates, cookies, crackers, cheeses,
[4:19] Speaker 1: and a few specialty snacks. And it's all placed inside
[4:21] Speaker 1: a beautiful gift arrangement and sent to anybody that you want.
[4:24] Speaker 1: Absolutely free. It's actually a $ 360 value.
[4:28] Speaker 4: Oh, wow.
[4:29] Speaker 5: Okay, cool.
[4:31] Speaker 1: Congratulations. Thank you very much. And it's very easy. I
[4:35] Speaker 1: will not ask you for any credit card information. You
[4:38] Speaker 1: just want a free gift from us. You'll get confirmations
[4:40] Speaker 1: on all that before we're even off the phone. And
[4:42] Speaker 1: it's very simple how it works. I can take the
[4:44] Speaker 1: information in just a few minutes over the phone if
[4:46] Speaker 1: you know who you want to send it to right now.
[4:47] Speaker 1: I can also call you back.
[4:49] Speaker 5: No, I know who I want to send it to.
[4:52] Speaker 1: Okay, great. The first thing that I would need would
[4:54] Speaker 1: be the first and last name of the person you
[4:55] Speaker 1: want to send them to, and then whatever you might
[4:57] Speaker 1: want to put on a card, and that's it.
[5:00] Speaker 5: Okay. Yeah, we'll send them to Ethan Walsh.
[5:05] Speaker 1: You said Ethan?
[5:06] Speaker 2: Ethan?
[5:06] Speaker 4: Yeah, Ethan Walsh.
[5:10] Speaker 1: Got it. All right. And you want to include a
[5:13] Speaker 1: card along with that?
[5:15] Speaker 3: Yes.
[5:15] Speaker 2: Okay.
[5:15] Speaker 1: What would you like it to say?
[5:17] Speaker 4: Let's have it say, if there's enough room, three more
[5:21] Speaker 4: weeks until I get to call you my husband.
[5:24] Speaker 5: I can't wait to start our forever. I love you.
[5:28] Speaker 5: And then my name, Chloe.
[5:30] Speaker 2: Yes.
[5:32] Speaker 1: That, okay. I cannot do that for you, but this
[5:35] Speaker 1: is actually the Jubal show. It's a radio show. Hi,
[5:38] Speaker 1: I'm Nina. Hi, I'm Victoria. And my name is Jubal.
[5:40] Speaker 1: And we do a segment on the show called to
[5:41] Speaker 1: catch a cheater, where if you think your significant other
[5:43] Speaker 1: is messing around, you see who they send something to.
[5:45] Speaker 1: And your boyfriend of eight months, Austin probably wants to know.
[5:49] Speaker 2: Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. What the hell is what? Husband?
[5:55] Speaker 4: Three weeks?
[5:56] Speaker 2: Who the hell is Ethan? What? Why are you calling
[6:04] Speaker 2: him your husband?
[6:07] Speaker 5: I don't understand what's going on.
[6:10] Speaker 1: What's going on is.
[6:11] Speaker 2: We've been dating for eight months. How long have you
[6:15] Speaker 2: been engaged?
[6:19] Speaker 5: Listen. What are these flowers?
[6:24] Speaker 2: Is that the fiance? Is Ethan sending you flowers? You
[6:29] Speaker 2: made me apologize for questioning the flowers from work.
[6:33] Speaker 3: Girl.
[6:35] Speaker 5: Are you kidding?
[6:36] Speaker 2: What is this? Have you been talking about our future
[6:41] Speaker 2: while planning a wedding with some other dude? What the
[6:44] Speaker 2: hell is going on, Khloe?
[6:47] Speaker 5: What is going on?
[6:48] Speaker 4: Well, I guess this is not how I wanted to talk.
[6:52] Speaker 5: To you about this. Oh, my God. Yeah, I'm engaged.
[6:59] Speaker 5: Ethan is my fiancé.
[7:00] Speaker 4: Ew.
[7:03] Speaker 1: So you've been dating Austin, who's on the phone right now,
[7:07] Speaker 1: who considers himself your boyfriend for eight months, and you
[7:10] Speaker 1: have a fiancé?
[7:12] Speaker 5: Yes, but it's just complicated. How's it complicated?
[7:17] Speaker 4: So Ethan and I, we've been together for four years,
[7:21] Speaker 4: and we have been engaged for a year. But when
[7:24] Speaker 4: I met Austin eight months ago, we were going through
[7:28] Speaker 4: a rough patch, and I honestly didn't know if we
[7:30] Speaker 4: were even going to stay together. I just started seeing
[7:35] Speaker 4: you because I really felt a connection with you. I
[7:38] Speaker 4: felt like I needed to feel wanted. And then things
[7:41] Speaker 4: got serious. And that's all really real.
[7:43] Speaker 5: And I don't know. It just kind of like spiraled
[7:46] Speaker 5: out of control. I just didn't want to hurt you
[7:48] Speaker 5: by breaking up with you.
[7:49] Speaker 3: Does your fiance know you have an Austin?
[7:54] Speaker 4: No.
[7:55] Speaker 5: Ethan works out of town. So I mostly.
[7:59] Speaker 4: see him on the weekends and then I told Austin
[8:04] Speaker 4: that I had a roommate but I actually just there's
[8:07] Speaker 4: a bunch of pictures of me and Ethan at the
[8:09] Speaker 4: apartment and I didn't want him to come over and
[8:11] Speaker 4: see all those.
[8:13] Speaker 1: Because he said he's never been to your place that's
[8:15] Speaker 1: a red.
[8:16] Speaker 4: Flag yeah and I basically just stay at Austin's when
[8:20] Speaker 4: Ethan's out of town Austin I'm so sorry I mean
[8:23] Speaker 4: I just could not find the time to tell.
[8:25] Speaker 5: You and I never felt right.
[8:29] Speaker 2: You haven't been finding time in the eight months we've
[8:32] Speaker 2: been dating that you've been with, that you're engaged to
[8:35] Speaker 2: a dude you've been with for four years? This makes
[8:37] Speaker 2: a lot of sense because you asked me a bunch
[8:39] Speaker 2: of stuff about like a wedding song and DJs and
[8:44] Speaker 2: food and wedding venues. Have I been planning your wedding
[8:49] Speaker 2: to another guy?
[8:50] Speaker 4: What? Yeah, that probably was really wrong of me to
[8:54] Speaker 4: bounce those ideas off of you.
[8:56] Speaker 2: You told me you were asking because you wanted to
[8:58] Speaker 2: know what kind of wedding I'd want someday.
[9:02] Speaker 5: This is insane. This is insane.
[9:06] Speaker 3: I'm so sorry, Austin.
[9:08] Speaker 5: You've been so helpful and supportive through all this. That's
[9:11] Speaker 5: why I didn't want to lose you.
[9:13] Speaker 2: I've been your wedding planner that you've been hooking up
[9:15] Speaker 2: with while you're engaged with a dude. You know, you
[9:19] Speaker 2: talked a lot about wedding venues. I have a pretty
[9:21] Speaker 2: damn good idea of where your wedding is happening. And
[9:25] Speaker 2: maybe I should show it. Do you want me to
[9:27] Speaker 2: give a speech? I mean, I probably picked the first song.
[9:30] Speaker 2: You know, at this point, I might as well be
[9:33] Speaker 2: a bridesmaid.
[9:35] Speaker 5: Austin, please, can we just talk about this in a
[9:37] Speaker 5: different format? Can I just call you?
[9:41] Speaker 2: I think we've talked about this enough. I think I'm good.
[9:45] Speaker 2: I think I'm good. I hope you have a great
[9:47] Speaker 2: life with Ethan.
[9:52] Speaker 4: I'm really sorry you feel that way, and I'm really
[9:55] Speaker 4: sorry this is how it all happened. I would love
[10:00] Speaker 4: to talk about it like adults, but if you can't
[10:02] Speaker 4: do that.
[10:02] Speaker 5: That's fine.
[10:03] Speaker 3: Maybe Ethan should be there to have that conversation.
