[0:01] SPEAKER_08: Welcome to Saints Alive, where we take you with us to meet God's most heroic followers.
[0:07] SPEAKER_08: The saints were just ordinary boys and girls who allowed God's love to transform them into real life superheroes.
[0:14] SPEAKER_08: Their love for God changed our world.
[0:17] SPEAKER_08: Did you know that God has sent you here to become a saint?
[0:20] SPEAKER_08: It's up to you to choose love over fear, to be courageous, faithful, and kind.
[0:26] SPEAKER_08: The choice to become a saint won't be easy, but it will be worth it.
[0:30] SPEAKER_08: So listen closely and open your hearts.
[0:32] SPEAKER_08: These real life tales of the saints from the past may just inspire you how to live your story.
[0:38] SPEAKER_08: Let's go on this adventure together.
[0:58] SPEAKER_08: Around the world, millions of people wear the miraculous medal as a sign of devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
[1:06] SPEAKER_08: But how did this tradition come to be?
[1:08] SPEAKER_08: And what makes this medal so special in the first place?
[1:12] SPEAKER_08: Today's episode tells the story of the remarkable encounter with Our Lady that led not only to the making of the metal, but also to the making of an extraordinary saint.
[1:42] SPEAKER_03: And what you started wearing the medal?
[1:45] SPEAKER_03: You were healed?
[1:47] SPEAKER_12: Yes, completely.
[1:49] SPEAKER_12: You must get this and wear it faithfully every day.
[1:53] SPEAKER_02: And she was healed?
[1:55] SPEAKER_02: The same medal.
[1:56] SPEAKER_02: What a miracle! He agreed to wear the medal and then converted and was baptized.
[2:03] SPEAKER_02: All thanks to our lady.
[2:06] SPEAKER_04: Unbelievable!
[2:07] SPEAKER_12: Miraculous!
[2:08] SPEAKER_04: Um, but how did it come to be?
[2:10] SPEAKER_04: Who was the one that discovered this miraculous medal?
[2:45] SPEAKER_05: Rise and shine, Tonine! Is it morning already?
[2:51] SPEAKER_05: Indeed, and we have much to do.
[2:54] SPEAKER_05: But this bed is so warm.
[2:57] SPEAKER_05: And the sun outside is even warmer.
[3:00] SPEAKER_05: Trust me, I've already been to town and back while you were sleeping.
[3:04] SPEAKER_05: Wow! You went to town again?
[3:07] SPEAKER_05: It's nearly three miles.
[3:09] SPEAKER_05: Oh, you're sir, ma chérie.
[3:10] SPEAKER_05: Why would today be any different?
[3:12] SPEAKER_05: Nothing could keep me from the holy sacrifice of the mass.
[3:15] SPEAKER_05: But what about Papa?
[3:17] SPEAKER_05: He would be angry if we're late for breakfast.
[3:24] SPEAKER_05: Coming, Papa.
[3:28] SPEAKER_01: Matthew.
[3:29] SPEAKER_01: I demand punctuality in this house.
[3:32] SPEAKER_01: You know better.
[3:36] SPEAKER_01: Time is a resource not to be wasted, especially now that Maria Louise has left us for him to convent.
[3:42] SPEAKER_01: You two have mighty being choosed to be like that.
[3:44] SPEAKER_01: I will not be disappointed.
[3:55] SPEAKER_05: How are the two of us supposed to manage the whole song?
[4:00] SPEAKER_05: We will learn.
[4:03] SPEAKER_05: Our yes to this is allowing Marie Louise to say yes to God.
[4:08] SPEAKER_05: She is counting on us.
[4:09] SPEAKER_05: And so is Papa.
[4:11] SPEAKER_05: I know you're right.
[4:13] SPEAKER_15: I just wish Papa was less down.
[4:16] SPEAKER_05: Ever since Mama died, he's been so different.
[4:22] SPEAKER_05: He is suffering to me.
[4:25] SPEAKER_05: But he still loves us very much.
[4:27] SPEAKER_05: I'm sure of it.
[4:29] SPEAKER_05: Perhaps he's just afraid that he'll lose us too.
[4:33] SPEAKER_05: You mean like how he lost Maman?
[4:36] SPEAKER_05: Exactly more.
[4:38] SPEAKER_05: First Maman and now Marie Louise, in a way?
[4:40] SPEAKER_05: We simply must persevere and try to please him as best we can.
[4:46] SPEAKER_05: Come, let us turn to a blessed mother together.
[4:52] SPEAKER_05: Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
[4:55] SPEAKER_05: Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
[5:06] SPEAKER_08: The ninth of eleven children, Zoe lived with her family in a quaint village in Burgundy, France.
[5:12] SPEAKER_08: Since all of her older siblings had moved away from home, Zoe spent the next several years fulfilling all the daily duties of life on the farm with the help of her younger sister and brother.
[5:24] SPEAKER_08: She cooked and cleaned.
[5:28] SPEAKER_08: She fed the workers in the fields.
[5:31] SPEAKER_05: Here, make sure to drink, and here is some fresh bread.
[5:35] SPEAKER_08: Cared for the many animals.
[5:37] SPEAKER_05: Whoa, Zirker, you're gonna be alright.
[5:40] SPEAKER_08: And even did all the laundry.
[5:50] SPEAKER_08: The days were long and the work wasn't easy, but Zoe did everything with a generous heart.
[5:58] SPEAKER_05: Salut God, how about some bread and cheese for lunch today?
[6:01] SPEAKER_05: And fresh berries, your favorite.
[6:04] SPEAKER_11: No, vraiment.
[6:05] SPEAKER_11: You shouldn't have Zoe.
[6:07] SPEAKER_11: Merci beaucoup.
[6:08] SPEAKER_05: Zoe always saved the best for our farm hand.
[6:11] SPEAKER_05: Well, you worked so hard and we are grateful.
[6:14] SPEAKER_05: God bless you, God.
[6:16] SPEAKER_05: Bon appetit.
[6:20] SPEAKER_05: Are you all right, Zoe?
[6:22] SPEAKER_05: You seem a bit preoccupied.
[6:25] SPEAKER_05: Oh yes, I I'm I'm fine.
[6:29] SPEAKER_05: Just a bit perplexed as all.
[6:33] SPEAKER_05: Can I tell you something, Jonin?
[6:35] SPEAKER_05: A secret?
[6:36] SPEAKER_05: Anyway! I had a rather strange dream last night.
[6:42] SPEAKER_05: I was in the village chapel and Well, that sounds strange.
[6:47] SPEAKER_05: Anyone looking for you wouldn't know to go to the chapel.
[6:50] SPEAKER_05: Very funny, Macherie.
[6:53] SPEAKER_05: Here is the strange part.
[6:55] SPEAKER_05: The priest saying Mass was an old man I'd never seen before.
[6:59] SPEAKER_05: And afterwards, he turned and looked directly at me, beckoning me to follow him.
[7:05] SPEAKER_05: Well, did you?
[7:07] SPEAKER_05: No, I was too scared, so I ran away.
[7:10] SPEAKER_05: And then I was kneeling by a sick woman's bedside and caring for her.
[7:16] SPEAKER_05: When lo and behold, the old priest appeared again.
[7:20] SPEAKER_05: And this time he spoke to me, and his words filled me with such wonder and peace.
[7:28] SPEAKER_11: My daughter, it is good to care for the sick.
[7:32] SPEAKER_11: You flee from me now, but one day, you will be glad to come to me.
[7:38] SPEAKER_11: God has plans for you.
[7:41] SPEAKER_11: Don't forget it.
[7:45] SPEAKER_05: My goodness, Zoe.
[7:47] SPEAKER_05: Even your sleep seems to be holy.
[7:49] SPEAKER_05: How extraordinary! But what could it mean?
[7:53] SPEAKER_05: Well, is that just a turning?
[7:55] SPEAKER_05: I think I might know.
[8:00] SPEAKER_05: Papa?
[8:02] SPEAKER_01: Not now, Zoe.
[8:03] SPEAKER_01: I'm busy.
[8:04] SPEAKER_01: These wretched accounts won't balance themselves.
[8:08] SPEAKER_01: Can it wait?
[8:09] SPEAKER_05: I'm afraid not, Papa.
[8:11] SPEAKER_05: I have something very important to tell you.
[8:18] SPEAKER_01: What is it then?
[8:20] SPEAKER_05: I wanted to ask for your permission to enter the novitiate with the daughters of charity.
[8:27] SPEAKER_01: Religious life?
[8:30] SPEAKER_01: Absolutely not.
[8:31] SPEAKER_01: What is it with these daughters of mine?
[8:33] SPEAKER_01: You are to be married!
[8:35] SPEAKER_05: I believe that I have a vocation to religious life.
[8:38] SPEAKER_05: I'm sorry, Father, but I do not wish to marry.
[8:42] SPEAKER_05: The more time I spend at the village chapel with the sisters, the more I want to live a life like theirs.
[8:47] SPEAKER_01: Nonsense! How dare you approach me with such a silly proposition?
[8:52] SPEAKER_05: But father!
[8:54] SPEAKER_01: Not another sound, young lady.
[8:56] SPEAKER_01: I've already given one child to God, and that is quite enough.
[9:00] SPEAKER_01: I will hear no more of it.
[9:02] SPEAKER_01: Do you understand?
[9:04] SPEAKER_05: Yes, Papa.
[9:08] SPEAKER_01: Wait.
[9:09] SPEAKER_05: Yes?
[9:12] SPEAKER_01: I received a letter from your brother last week, asking for help with these restaurants.
[9:18] SPEAKER_01: I hadn't thought of it until now, but since you have enough time today about the convent, I think it would be good to clear your head.
[9:27] SPEAKER_01: You leave for Paris tomorrow to help your brother.
[9:30] SPEAKER_01: You will work hard.
[9:32] SPEAKER_01: Is that clear?
[9:33] SPEAKER_05: Yes, Papa.
[9:41] SPEAKER_08: Zoe left the room crestfallen and deeply hurt by her father's rejection, but she did not lose hope.
[9:48] SPEAKER_08: Humbly, she did as he asked, hoping against hope that the Lord would soon make a way for her.
[10:24] SPEAKER_05: Charles, it is so good to see you after all six years.
[10:28] SPEAKER_05: How are you?
[10:29] SPEAKER_06: Delighted now that you're here.
[10:31] SPEAKER_06: I have your grown little sister.
[10:36] SPEAKER_06: What shall we do first?
[10:39] SPEAKER_05: After a good night's sleep, I will do whatever it is you need, Charles.
[10:43] SPEAKER_06: Every you are.
[10:44] SPEAKER_06: Our restaurant could certainly use the extra support.
[10:48] SPEAKER_06: I hear you're quite a good back in Burgundy.
[10:52] SPEAKER_05: And I hear you're quite a disaster in the kitchen.
[10:59] SPEAKER_08: Zoe set out to work right away, helping Charles to run his restaurants.
[11:04] SPEAKER_08: Though she did not mind the work, she missed her quiet life on the farm and would find solace in quiet moments of prayer during her busy days at the restaurant.
[11:15] SPEAKER_06: Look, Zoe.
[11:16] SPEAKER_06: A letter from Chatillon.
[11:18] SPEAKER_06: It must be from Ubert.
[11:20] SPEAKER_06: Go ahead and open it.
[11:25] SPEAKER_06: What does our dear brother have to say?
[11:28] SPEAKER_05: Um I'm not quite sure.
[11:33] SPEAKER_06: What do you mean?
[11:34] SPEAKER_06: His handwriting can't be that bad.
[11:36] SPEAKER_05: No, it's not that.
[11:38] SPEAKER_05: It's just uh I am ashamed to admit that I never learned how.
[11:44] SPEAKER_06: To read?
[11:46] SPEAKER_05: All right.
[11:47] SPEAKER_06: Well, that just won't do.
[11:49] SPEAKER_06: Especially for a young lady like yourself.
[11:52] SPEAKER_06: Uh come to think of it, your bet's wife actually runs a school for girls not too far from here.
[11:58] SPEAKER_06: What would you say do taking some time away so that you can study?
[12:02] SPEAKER_05: Really?
[12:03] SPEAKER_05: I would love that.
[12:11] SPEAKER_08: With her father's permission, Zoe headed off to boarding school in Chatillon.
[12:16] SPEAKER_08: This, however, only brought more troubles for Zoe.
[12:21] SPEAKER_14: I hear she has never even been to school.
[12:25] SPEAKER_14: Menon, vraiment, it's true.
[12:28] SPEAKER_14: She can't even write her own name.
[12:31] SPEAKER_02: So embarrassing.
[12:34] SPEAKER_02: How old is she anyway?
[12:36] SPEAKER_14: Old enough that she ought to have better fashion sense.
[12:40] SPEAKER_14: I mean, did you see what she wore to class?
[12:43] SPEAKER_14: I wouldn't have dare to leave the house in such a shabby dress.
[12:48] SPEAKER_08: Zoe's only comfort were her weekly visits to the local hospice, run by the daughters of charity.
[12:58] SPEAKER_05: Ah, Zoe, back so soon.
[13:01] SPEAKER_05: It is so peaceful here, sister.
[13:04] SPEAKER_05: This is where I feel more at home than anywhere else in Paris.
[13:08] SPEAKER_05: I only hope that our patients feel that way too.
[13:11] SPEAKER_16: We work hard to model Saint Vincent de Paul so that they know their dignity, no matter their circumstance.
[13:18] SPEAKER_05: Uh who?
[13:20] SPEAKER_16: Saint Vincent de Pol.
[13:22] SPEAKER_16: Surely you've heard of him.
[13:23] SPEAKER_16: I can't say I have.
[13:25] SPEAKER_16: He is our founder.
[13:28] SPEAKER_16: Actually, this is a picture of him.
[13:34] SPEAKER_16: What is it, dear?
[13:36] SPEAKER_05: Are you all right?
[13:37] SPEAKER_05: Oh, I uh uh yes I am fine.
[13:41] SPEAKER_05: I've I've just seen this man before.
[13:45] SPEAKER_05: It was in a dream.
[13:48] SPEAKER_11: My daughter, it is good to care for the sick.
[13:52] SPEAKER_11: You flee from me now, but one day you will be glad to come to me.
[13:58] SPEAKER_11: God has plans for you.
[14:01] SPEAKER_11: Don't forget it.
[14:06] SPEAKER_05: Oh that's dream.
[14:08] SPEAKER_05: I I never would have imagined, but but you knew all along, Lord.
[14:13] SPEAKER_16: Knew all along?
[14:14] SPEAKER_05: Yes, sister, oh yes, I know the Lord's plans for me.
[14:19] SPEAKER_05: I always have, really, but now I am more confident than ever.
[14:23] SPEAKER_05: Oh, but my pop, what am I to do?
[14:28] SPEAKER_16: My dear, if it is truly the Lord's will for you to become a sister of charity, pray for your father to see and believe it too.
[14:36] SPEAKER_16: God can work all things for good.
[14:40] SPEAKER_08: After much persuasion, many prayers, and countless letters back and forth, Pierre Labere at last consented to Zoe's vocation.
[14:50] SPEAKER_08: And in April of 1830, she eagerly returned to Paris to begin her initiate with the daughters of charity and took the name Catherine.
[15:06] SPEAKER_08: On the vigil of their founder's great feast, she went to bed exhausted from the long day of preparation and fell into a deep sleep.
[15:17] SPEAKER_15: Sister Labere!
[15:19] SPEAKER_08: Sister Labere Catherine startled awake upon hearing the stranger's voice.
[15:25] SPEAKER_08: Sitting up in fright, she saw a bright light streaming in through the curtains surrounding her bed.
[15:33] SPEAKER_15: Sister Labere! Sister Labere!
[15:37] SPEAKER_08: Catherine hesitated for a moment more before bravely drawing back the curtains.
[15:43] SPEAKER_08: To her surprise, she found a small child standing there.
[15:47] SPEAKER_08: Her golden hair and long white gown shone in the flickering light from the candle she carried.
[15:54] SPEAKER_15: Come to the chapel.
[15:56] SPEAKER_15: The blessed virgin awaits you.
[16:04] SPEAKER_05: I must be dreaming.
[16:06] SPEAKER_15: Do not be afraid.
[16:08] SPEAKER_15: It is half past eleven, and everyone else is asleep.
[16:13] SPEAKER_15: Come now, I shall wait for you.
[16:16] SPEAKER_08: Catherine's heart beat in anticipation as she tried to comprehend what was happening.
[16:22] SPEAKER_08: With trembling hands, she climbed out of bed and stood before the little angel.
[16:30] SPEAKER_05: Okay, I am ready.
[16:34] SPEAKER_05: This way.
[16:43] SPEAKER_08: When they reached the chapel, all the lights were on and the altar candles ablaze.
[16:49] SPEAKER_08: Catherine followed the child to the sanctuary and knelt before the altar rail, bowing her head in hopeful expectation.
[16:58] SPEAKER_08: Catherine waited, her uncertainty mounting, until the angel finally spoke again.
[17:08] SPEAKER_15: Here is the blessed virgin.
[17:19] SPEAKER_08: And then, standing before Catherine was an incandescently beautiful woman.
[17:27] SPEAKER_08: Her face was serene, and her long silk dress twinkled like the early morning sun.
[17:36] SPEAKER_08: Catherine looked up and faltered for a moment, frozen by the sudden fear that she was being deceived by her imagination.
[17:46] SPEAKER_08: But as the radiant woman slowly descended the steps and seated herself in the priest's chair, all of Catherine's doubts began to fade.
[17:58] SPEAKER_02: Oh Baza, it's really you.
[18:03] SPEAKER_13: My child, the good God wishes to charge you with a mission.
[18:10] SPEAKER_13: You will be troubled and have much to suffer.
[18:14] SPEAKER_13: But what you must remember is that what you do is done for God's glory.
[18:21] SPEAKER_05: Oh yes, Maza, God's will be done.
[18:26] SPEAKER_13: There is one thing more.
[18:29] SPEAKER_13: Yes.
[18:30] SPEAKER_13: You are to tell your spiritual director everything.
[18:35] SPEAKER_13: All that I share with you, all that you see, all that you understand in prayer, everything.
[18:41] SPEAKER_05: I can do that, Maza.
[18:43] SPEAKER_05: I promise I will do it.
[18:45] SPEAKER_13: It will not be easy, my child.
[18:49] SPEAKER_13: You will be contradicted, but do not fear.
[18:54] SPEAKER_13: When you pour out your heart in prayer before this very altar, you will receive every grace and consolation.
[19:02] SPEAKER_13: Have confidence.
[19:20] SPEAKER_05: I know it sounds unbelievable, Father Aladell, but the Blessed Virgin really did appear to me right here in the mother house.
[19:28] SPEAKER_07: Impossible.
[19:29] SPEAKER_07: It simply must have been a dream.
[19:32] SPEAKER_07: You ought to control your imagination, dear girl.
[19:35] SPEAKER_07: It is dangerous for a novice to live with her head in the clouds.
[19:39] SPEAKER_05: I promise I am telling the truth.
[19:41] SPEAKER_05: The blessed Virgin herself asked me to tell you these things.
[19:47] SPEAKER_07: I will not be able to do it with all of this.
[19:51] SPEAKER_07: You are now to think about other things from now on.
[19:55] SPEAKER_07: Appropriate things.
[19:56] SPEAKER_07: Like your duties, your prayer.
[20:00] SPEAKER_07: You must forget about his whole ordeal at once.
[20:04] SPEAKER_05: Yes, father.
[20:08] SPEAKER_08: But try as she might follow his advice and forget about what had happened, it was impossible for Catherine to erase the sweetness of the Blessed Mother's visit from her mind.
[20:19] SPEAKER_08: And so she waited patiently for God to reveal the special mission he had in mind for her.
[20:30] SPEAKER_08: Just a few months later, right before the start of Advent, Catherine's patience was rewarded.
[20:36] SPEAKER_08: On a Saturday evening, Catherine was praying when she suddenly heard a soft rustling noise break the silence.
[20:46] SPEAKER_08: She recognized the sound at once as the gentle swishing of a dress, and her heart began to flutter in joyful expectation.
[20:56] SPEAKER_08: This time, Mary appeared even more bright and glorious than before.
[21:01] SPEAKER_08: Standing on a globe, she held a golden ball of light between her hands.
[21:06] SPEAKER_08: On her fingers, she wore countless rings with precious gems from which rays of dazzling light streamed forth.
[21:14] SPEAKER_05: Oh Maza, how beautiful you are.
[21:18] SPEAKER_05: You've come again.
[21:20] SPEAKER_13: Indeed, for I have more to share with you.
[21:26] SPEAKER_13: This ball that I am holding right here close to my heart represents the whole world, each and every person that God has created.
[21:36] SPEAKER_13: And these rays of light that you see, they symbolize the abundant graces I shed upon those who ask for them.
[21:45] SPEAKER_13: But do you see the gems on my fingers that send forth no light?
[21:51] SPEAKER_13: These are the graces that I long to give, but for which souls forget to ask me.
[22:02] SPEAKER_08: Suddenly, the vision shifted.
[22:05] SPEAKER_08: Mary opened wide her arms, and even more light came bursting forth from her outstretched hands, illuminating the chapel with a heavenly glow and making the sanctuary sparkle.
[22:17] SPEAKER_08: As she stood there, an oval frame began to take shape around her, and an inscription appeared in a semicircle just above her head, written in glimmering gold letters.
[22:35] SPEAKER_05: Pray for us who have recourse to thee.
[22:39] SPEAKER_13: Have a medal struck after this model.
[22:43] SPEAKER_13: All who wear this medal around the neck will receive great graces.
[22:48] SPEAKER_13: Graces will abound for persons who wear it with confidence.
[23:08] SPEAKER_05: So this is my mission.
[23:10] SPEAKER_05: To be Mary's messenger, to to help bring God's grace to the world through his mother.
[23:16] SPEAKER_05: But how could a madam ever encompass the beauty that I have just witnessed?
[23:21] SPEAKER_05: And what if no one else listens to me?
[23:25] SPEAKER_05: Oh, blessed Virgin, give me courage.
[23:35] SPEAKER_07: Not again, Catherine.
[23:37] SPEAKER_07: I thought I told you to put this behind you.
[23:40] SPEAKER_05: I have tried, but the blessed Virgin has told me otherwise.
[23:45] SPEAKER_05: Her heart is aching, father, and each time she appears to me, she is adamant that the medal be made right away.
[23:52] SPEAKER_05: I cannot keep telling her that nothing is being done.
[23:55] SPEAKER_07: And I cannot promise to make any such medal.
[24:00] SPEAKER_05: I told her you wouldn't believe me.
[24:03] SPEAKER_07: You did what?
[24:05] SPEAKER_07: You told her about me.
[24:07] SPEAKER_05: Oh, of course, Father.
[24:08] SPEAKER_05: I had no other choice, since you have yet to take action.
[24:12] SPEAKER_07: Well what did she say about me then?
[24:14] SPEAKER_05: She said not to worry that the day will come when you will do what she desires, because uh because of what, sister?
[24:23] SPEAKER_07: Go on.
[24:25] SPEAKER_05: Because you are her servant, and you would feel to displease her.
[24:33] SPEAKER_08: Catherine obediently continued to report to Father Aladell each time Mary appeared.
[24:39] SPEAKER_08: Though she suffered near constant rejection, she persisted in her assignments as a daughter of charity, diligently caring for the sick and dying.
[24:49] SPEAKER_08: Meanwhile, completely unbeknownst to Catherine, the Blessed Virgin's words were weighing heavily on Father Aladell's heart.
[24:59] SPEAKER_07: At first I was skeptical, but I can no longer ignore it.
[25:05] SPEAKER_09: How remarkable.
[25:08] SPEAKER_09: And the sister.
[25:09] SPEAKER_09: The one who had the visions?
[25:11] SPEAKER_09: Is she trustworthy?
[25:14] SPEAKER_09: Most certainly.
[25:15] SPEAKER_09: And virtuous?
[25:16] SPEAKER_07: Yes, Archbishop.
[25:18] SPEAKER_07: It has taken me far too long to admit, but she is faithful, practical, hard working.
[25:28] SPEAKER_07: Her patience with me over the past several months is proof enough of her virtue.
[25:34] SPEAKER_09: Very well, then.
[25:36] SPEAKER_09: In my mind there is no reason not to proceed.
[25:40] SPEAKER_09: It seems quite clear that our lady will not rest until this medal has been made.
[25:58] SPEAKER_09: Absolute more messieurs.
[26:00] SPEAKER_09: Anything for our lady.
[26:02] SPEAKER_00: Come in, come in.
[26:05] SPEAKER_07: Here are the sketches for the engraving of the medal.
[26:08] SPEAKER_07: Do you think you're up for the job?
[26:10] SPEAKER_07: Every detail must be perfect.
[26:15] SPEAKER_00: The design is quite intricate.
[26:18] SPEAKER_00: It will take me a few months' time.
[26:23] SPEAKER_00: But I can do it.
[26:26] SPEAKER_00: Excellent.
[26:27] SPEAKER_00: How many would you like?
[26:29] SPEAKER_07: Let's do 20,000 to start.
[26:33] SPEAKER_07: 20,000?
[26:36] SPEAKER_07: Don't sound so surprised, monsieur.
[26:38] SPEAKER_07: Our lady has said that she has graces for the whole world.
[26:42] SPEAKER_07: If that's the case, 20,000 medals is just the beginning.
[26:50] SPEAKER_08: On June 30th, 1832, the first batch of medals were finally delivered to the daughters of charity.
[26:58] SPEAKER_08: The sisters eagerly distributed the medals in their daily work, and to everyone's amazement, the effects were almost immediate.
[27:08] SPEAKER_03: Put it around the neck and have confidence in the blessed master.
[27:12] SPEAKER_03: And what you started wearing the medal, you were healed?
[27:16] SPEAKER_12: Yes, completely.
[27:18] SPEAKER_12: You must get this medal and wear it every day.
[27:21] SPEAKER_12: And she was healed?
[27:23] SPEAKER_02: The same medal.
[27:25] SPEAKER_02: What a miracle! He agreed to wear the medal and then converted and was baptized.
[27:33] SPEAKER_02: All thanks to our lady.
[27:36] SPEAKER_02: Unbelievable!
[27:38] SPEAKER_04: Miraculous! But how did it come to be?
[28:00] SPEAKER_05: Thank you for everything, Father.
[28:03] SPEAKER_05: It is an enormous relief to my heart.
[28:06] SPEAKER_07: No, Sister Catherine, thank you.
[28:09] SPEAKER_07: Our blessed mother knew exactly what she was doing when she revealed herself to you.
[28:13] SPEAKER_07: Just look at the marvels you have helped bring about.
[28:16] SPEAKER_07: The whole country wants to know who you are.
[28:20] SPEAKER_05: Uh about that, father.
[28:22] SPEAKER_05: Um I have always preferred the quiet, hidden places of the world.
[28:28] SPEAKER_05: I am content to serve at the hospice, to scrub the floors, to read the garden, to mend the clothes.
[28:35] SPEAKER_05: Will you promise me something?
[28:39] SPEAKER_07: Anything, sister.
[28:41] SPEAKER_05: Will you promise never to reveal that I am the one to whom our blessed mother appeared?
[28:46] SPEAKER_07: Are you sure?
[28:47] SPEAKER_07: It is a great honor that she chose you for this special task.
[28:52] SPEAKER_05: I am quite sure.
[28:53] SPEAKER_05: I would much rather it remain our little secret.
[29:08] SPEAKER_08: Catherine kept that secret for the rest of her life, choosing to remain anonymous, even as the miraculous medal became known throughout the world.
[29:18] SPEAKER_08: Through her deep humility, inspiring obedience, enduring patience, and gentle persistence, she gave the whole church a remarkable gift.
[29:30] SPEAKER_08: Not just the gift of the miraculous medal itself, but the grace of renewed faith in God, the true miracle worker who chooses to work wonders through the faith of those who wear the medal.
[29:44] SPEAKER_08: Catherine persevered each time she was met with opposition or rejection and always held on to hope, trusting that God and our lady would pave the way for her.
[29:57] SPEAKER_08: Her relationship with the Blessed Mother is a source of encouragement to us all, that God is pleased when we come to Him for help through His Mother.
[30:08] SPEAKER_08: How might the Lord be inviting you to draw closer to His Mother Mary?
[30:13] SPEAKER_08: What graces can you ask her for in your own life?
[30:17] SPEAKER_08: O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to Thee.
[30:53] SPEAKER_08: In this series, we'll follow along with Grace Brumley as she prepares for the leading role of Mary in her school's nativity play.
[31:01] SPEAKER_08: Grace isn't sure she's up for playing such a big role, but with the help of her big brother Brad and her friends Paul and Mia, she'll find her own little fiat this advent and learn what it means to say yes to God in little ways each day.
[31:15] SPEAKER_08: This is truly a series you don't want to miss.
[31:18] SPEAKER_08: With brand new Saints Alive episodes on the life of Mary, a new game show hosted by Tanner and Ally Kalina, and prayers from the little office of the Blessed Virgin Mary, this is a great way for you and your family to honor the beautiful Advent season.
