## Transcript

[0:27] SPEAKER_00: Yes, welcome back to day three of the Daily Pods, live here on the big island of Kona, Hawaii.
[0:35] SPEAKER_00: I don't know why it's taken us so long to get here together as a group because this place is fucking awesome.
[0:41] SPEAKER_00: It's sunny, everyone's out and about, everyone's got their shirts off, everyone's tanned.
[0:45] SPEAKER_00: It's making me feel extremely self-conscious about how pale I am.
[0:49] SPEAKER_00: And speaking of pale, Sam Apo Appledon joins us.
[0:53] SPEAKER_00: He's been up to a few things on the island so far that we're going to talk about before we jump into the meat and potatoes of the podcast.
[1:00] SPEAKER_00: Apo, welcome back to day three.
[1:01] SPEAKER_02: Thanks, mate.
[1:02] SPEAKER_02: I we actually in the car did who's the palest and non-palest on the um on the show.
[1:08] SPEAKER_02: And I actually ranked up pretty high, I thought.
[1:10] SPEAKER_02: I thought I was like one of the most tan, but.
[1:12] SPEAKER_00: I think the thing is, you came here wanting to be eight-pack, veiny, the most tan person on the island.
[1:19] SPEAKER_00: And what we've got is a version of you that is still a little bit skinny and scrawny, probably a little bit paler than you would have liked to have been.
[1:27] SPEAKER_00: Biceps definitely not looking the way you would have loved them.
[1:29] SPEAKER_00: You're a good-looking guy, but you're a six out of ten.
[1:33] SPEAKER_02: That's been generous.
[1:35] SPEAKER_02: But I'll take it.
[1:35] SPEAKER_00: And we want to do a pretty quick intro here because we've got a few personal stories to tell before we jump into the podcast.
[1:41] SPEAKER_00: Like I said, Apo being a menace in the local Kona Bar scene being a particular story, what you really want to tell.
[1:47] SPEAKER_00: But you know what time it is.
[1:49] SPEAKER_00: He's the bad boy of Triform.
[1:51] SPEAKER_00: He doesn't care who he hurts along the way in giving his unfiltered opinion.
[1:57] SPEAKER_00: His name is Greg Motherfucking Harper.
[2:02] SPEAKER_01: Just doesn't get old, and Apple, you're definitely closer to a four out of ten.
[2:06] SPEAKER_01: So there's my unfiltered opinion to start off the show.
[2:09] SPEAKER_01: It's great to be here, Jack, and uh thanks for having me once again.
[2:12] SPEAKER_01: Uh, and I I I live with you, so you couldn't not have me on the show.
[2:15] SPEAKER_00: Boys, we talked about Patrick Langer yesterday and how we wanted to extend the olive branch.
[2:20] SPEAKER_00: We don't want to be enemies anymore.
[2:22] SPEAKER_00: In fact, we want to offer Patrick Lang honorary best friend of the show status.
[2:27] SPEAKER_00: He DM'd us yesterday after listening to the podcast.
[2:30] SPEAKER_00: He said the olive branch has been accepted.
[2:33] SPEAKER_00: He would love to once again be a friend of the show.
[2:36] SPEAKER_00: Patrick Langer, welcome back, my friend.
[2:38] SPEAKER_01: Hey, maybe he'll agree to get on the pod right after he wins his his last Iron Man World Championship.
[2:45] SPEAKER_00: He's going to win.
[2:47] SPEAKER_00: He's our favorite.
[2:48] SPEAKER_01: How dare you, Sam Appleton?
[2:50] SPEAKER_01: How dare you talk about our boy like that.
[2:52] SPEAKER_00: We've been saying it all year, Apo.
[2:54] SPEAKER_00: We've been saying it ever since he won his last title.
[2:56] SPEAKER_00: Patrick Langer is the best Iron Man athlete in the world, and he gets it right when he counts.
[3:01] SPEAKER_00: We never counted him out for a second.
[3:03] SPEAKER_02: No, never counted him out.
[3:05] SPEAKER_02: Technically, he is the best.
[3:08] SPEAKER_02: He's got the most titles here at Kona, so he technically is the best Iron Man athlete of all time.
[3:12] SPEAKER_00: So, you know, I don't want to write him off, but uh no chance.
[3:16] SPEAKER_00: Considering how in love with Christian Blumentfeld all of us are, we get regularly accused of glazing Christian Blumentfeld.
[3:22] SPEAKER_00: He has zero Kona titles, and Patrick Langer has three of them and two course records.
[3:27] SPEAKER_01: It's impressive.
[3:28] SPEAKER_01: It is impressive.
[3:28] SPEAKER_01: I don't glaze Christian.
[3:31] SPEAKER_00: You are actually probably the only person in Triton who doesn't graze Christian Blumentfeld.
[3:35] SPEAKER_00: Boys, there's so many stories that we've been experiencing here on the island.
[3:39] SPEAKER_00: We just want to get into them first before we start talking to you about the race.
[3:43] SPEAKER_00: Because you're hearing about the race on every podcast and YouTube video you watch right now.
[3:47] SPEAKER_00: So, first things first, I went and had a coffee with Fred Funk today.
[3:51] SPEAKER_00: So I got a text message, name drop alert, from Jan Fredino and Fred Funk.
[3:55] SPEAKER_00: They were having coffee together, the German boys, they stick together.
[3:58] SPEAKER_00: Actually, funny story.
[3:59] SPEAKER_00: Frederick Funk was the only male athlete that Jan Fredino would allow Dan Lorang to coach back in the day.
[4:06] SPEAKER_00: So Jan Fredino had Dan Lorang exclusively as a coach, but he allowed Dan Lorang to coach Fred Funk.
[4:12] SPEAKER_00: Little fun fact.
[4:14] SPEAKER_00: They were having a coffee and they asked me to come.
[4:16] SPEAKER_00: And I thought, oh, these are my friends, you know, Fred Jan.
[4:19] SPEAKER_00: I love those guys.
[4:20] SPEAKER_00: I've been at Fred's wedding.
[4:21] SPEAKER_00: I was in his um, I was in his groomsman party uh at his wedding, thinking they just want to hang out with me.
[4:26] SPEAKER_00: And I get there, and then in front of the whole cafe, because they'd seen photos of me on Instagram, they yelled out as loud as they could that I'd been taking Ozempic and started trying to tease me in front of this whole busy cafe.
[4:38] SPEAKER_02: I mean, once that came up, I have also then been like, I think it might be true.
[4:44] SPEAKER_02: What do you think, Greg?
[4:45] SPEAKER_02: Like, I think he like he looks good, and we know that Jack didn't look good.
[4:50] SPEAKER_02: Um, and um, you know, I don't want to jump ahead, but there was actually a funny Spotify comment that said you look now you look like uh Matthew Bakonahay from Dallas Buys Club.
[5:00] SPEAKER_00: I look like I have HIVAs.
[5:03] SPEAKER_01: Yeah, Jack has been like disappearing at times, like do things in his room, and the doors always locked.
[5:09] SPEAKER_01: He said, Hey guys, uh I'll be back in five.
[5:10] SPEAKER_01: Don't come upstairs.
[5:11] SPEAKER_01: So I I don't know what goes into what what his routines, but there's something shady going on.
[5:16] SPEAKER_00: Anyway, um thanks for that, Jan and Fred.
[5:18] SPEAKER_00: It made me feel really bad about myself.
[5:19] SPEAKER_00: And I'm not taking Ozempic.
[5:21] SPEAKER_00: I would happily take Ozempic.
[5:23] SPEAKER_00: I think there's nothing wrong with trying to improve your health, but nope, I just locked myself away on the side of a mountain with Yallagines bullying me to come for runs every day, and that did the job.
[5:32] SPEAKER_00: Greg, we have a story about Apo.
[5:35] SPEAKER_00: Do you want to tell it or do you want me to tell it?
[5:37] SPEAKER_01: You know, there's not a ton to tell.
[5:38] SPEAKER_01: However, Apo made a certain comment to a female athlete asking maybe if she was there for commentating this weekend, and she's actually racing.
[5:51] SPEAKER_01: And she was very not happy.
[5:54] SPEAKER_01: Her husband did he threaten you, Apo?
[5:57] SPEAKER_01: Can can you just tell us what was that?
[5:58] SPEAKER_00: Was there something about throwing you into a bush mentioned?
[6:01] SPEAKER_02: Look, I don't I don't want to get into the nitty-gritty, but I might have had a few beers and uh, you know, a certain athlete I asked if you know we were gonna be pals working the commentary team together, and she informed me that she was racing and I felt like an idiot, and uh I apologized, and uh that's all there is to it.
[6:20] SPEAKER_00: That's definitely not all there is to it.
[6:24] SPEAKER_00: I think they felt offended by the fact that you, someone commentating the race, a friend, an ex-fellow pro, didn't know that they were still a professional triathlete, had in fact thought they retired and were there to commentate the voice.
[6:38] SPEAKER_00: And therefore were a bit pissed off and threatened to throw you into a bush out the front of the pub.
[6:42] SPEAKER_01: There's actually more because Apple called himself a triathlon pundit earlier, too.
[6:48] SPEAKER_01: So he's not only a commentator, he fancies himself an expert on the sport, and he doesn't even know who's on the start list.
[6:54] SPEAKER_02: Okay, so to be fair, my job, I am strictly covering the men's race.
[6:58] SPEAKER_02: So my job is studying, you know.
[7:00] SPEAKER_02: You've seen me, Greg, every night, 5 p.m., I lock myself in that room.
[7:04] SPEAKER_02: I'm bringing up the start list, I'm bringing up the socials.
[7:07] SPEAKER_02: You know, I am locked in to this uh to this exciting race happening this weekend.
[7:12] SPEAKER_02: And um, you know, that's my job.
[7:13] SPEAKER_02: And I did make a comment under a few uh a few too many beers that I regret, and I apologized.
[7:19] SPEAKER_02: And uh it's water off a duck's back.
[7:22] SPEAKER_00: Greg, the amount of times this week that Apo has gone, insert said Trithon's name, who's racing?
[7:27] SPEAKER_00: Jack, who's this person?
[7:28] SPEAKER_00: What races have they done?
[7:30] SPEAKER_00: Like every day, multiple times a day.
[7:32] SPEAKER_00: But Apo, higher or lower, how many people in Kona have threatened you with physical violence this week?
[7:38] SPEAKER_00: Two.
[7:39] SPEAKER_02: Um higher.
[7:43] SPEAKER_00: So is it three or one?
[7:45] SPEAKER_00: It's one.
[7:45] SPEAKER_01: He he gets it.
[7:46] SPEAKER_01: He get it.
[7:47] SPEAKER_01: That one actually is tricky though, because we're not talking about placing.
[7:50] SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but you see, but I got it.
[7:52] SPEAKER_01: But it's like I kind of think it's the other way now.
[7:55] SPEAKER_01: It is the other way, but for this scenario.
[7:58] SPEAKER_01: Now, Apo has had to apologize multiple times yesterday to multiple people.
[8:06] SPEAKER_01: Maybe picking up a ukulele when he wasn't supposed to and strumming it along.
[8:10] SPEAKER_00: I forgot about this.
[8:11] SPEAKER_01: Maybe getting a little too aggressive in the parking lot, close to a car, and the car alarm goes off.
[8:16] SPEAKER_01: I don't I don't know.
[8:17] SPEAKER_01: Apo's done some some things.
[8:18] SPEAKER_01: He I'm not gonna say he's a menace, but things are going on.
[8:23] SPEAKER_00: You're not getting left out here though, either, Greg.
[8:26] SPEAKER_00: So yesterday we're sitting here on the couches, exactly where we're recording these podcasts, and Greg says to me, Jack, can you tee up a swim with me and Lucy Charles Barclay?
[8:36] SPEAKER_00: And I don't make a habit of asking people for favours.
[8:38] SPEAKER_00: I think if you're constantly messaging people and asking them for favours, they get kind of sick of you.
[8:43] SPEAKER_00: So I'm good friends with Lucy and Reese, but I never asked them for anything because I just want to I want to make sure I stay friends with them because there was a little brief period there where I lost their friendship because I may have posted an Instagram story asking Lucy Charles Barclay to transfer me a million dollars the night before one of her races.
[8:59] SPEAKER_00: There was a whole thing.
[9:00] SPEAKER_00: We sorted it out.
[9:01] SPEAKER_00: I forgot about that.
[9:03] SPEAKER_00: It took like two years for us to become friends again, but now I really love them and I think they like me too.
[9:08] SPEAKER_00: Um, and so I messaged Reese Charles Barclay, sent him a voice message and said, Reese, would it be okay if me and Greg came out and swam with uh you and Lucy tomorrow morning?
[9:17] SPEAKER_00: And they are staying like an hour out of town, they are very selective with who they let come around them, they are trying to do everything right for Lucy to win this race.
[9:24] SPEAKER_00: And Reese, being the great bloke and friend he is, said, Yeah, for sure, come out, meet us at the pool at 6 30 a.m.
[9:30] SPEAKER_00: So I messaged Reese back, I said, We'll be there, mate.
[9:33] SPEAKER_00: And then at like 9 p.m.
[9:35] SPEAKER_00: last night, so it's they're like literally Lucy and Reese are already in bed asleep, thinking we're gonna be meeting him at the pool the next morning.
[9:42] SPEAKER_00: We're out.
[9:43] SPEAKER_00: I have to message them because Greg's come to me and said, Dude, fucking axe that swim tomorrow morning.
[9:48] SPEAKER_00: Like, message Reese, I'm out, and so I message Reese saying, Hey man, we're gonna have to be out.
[9:54] SPEAKER_00: I can't make it.
[9:55] SPEAKER_00: I took the fall for him, and he goes, he replies in the morning, just called me a you know, I'll leave some words out, but he called me a pussy, and I said, No, fuck this, it was Greg.
[10:04] SPEAKER_00: Greg bad on you, and he said, Greg's scared of Lucy.
[10:07] SPEAKER_00: He knows that Lucy would drop him in the pool.
[10:09] SPEAKER_00: He has this whole character where he's the best swimmer in Triton, but he's a coward and a pussy.
[10:13] SPEAKER_00: And as soon as he had the chance to test himself against the best female swimmer in the sport who is the fittest she can possibly be, late at night, he got scared.
[10:21] SPEAKER_01: I just like don't have a lot to say because I'm feeling pretty low at the moment.
[10:26] SPEAKER_01: And people thought, you know, they saw that picture of me and Jack, and he's like, wow, Greg's kind of small.
[10:30] SPEAKER_01: I'm I'm just a small, timid guy, okay?
[10:32] SPEAKER_01: And I'm feeling low.
[10:34] SPEAKER_01: But yeah, and maybe I was scared, okay?
[10:37] SPEAKER_01: But it was really far.
[10:38] SPEAKER_01: And I I don't I don't know what to say, Jack.
[10:40] SPEAKER_02: It was a long drive.
[10:41] SPEAKER_02: In your defense, Greg, it was it's an hour to the pool that we're gonna go to.
[10:45] SPEAKER_02: Just to swim.
[10:46] SPEAKER_02: Like, I mean, if that was offered to me, I would have dropped everything and done it personally.
[10:50] SPEAKER_02: Like to swim with Lucy.
[10:52] SPEAKER_00: Lucy Charles Barclay gives you the chance to swim one-on-one with her.
[10:55] SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
[10:55] SPEAKER_00: Literally three days out from the biggest race of the year, and she's not doing that with anyone all week.
[11:00] SPEAKER_00: It was like it was a favor.
[11:02] SPEAKER_00: You made me ask a favor of Lucy Charles Barclay to bail on her last minute.
[11:06] SPEAKER_01: Do you think you could text him and we could do it tomorrow?
[11:11] SPEAKER_00: I am never asking a favor for you again.
[11:13] SPEAKER_00: You've burnt my trust.
[11:14] SPEAKER_00: You've burnt the Charles Barclay's trust.
[11:16] SPEAKER_00: You're dead to all of us.
[11:17] SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna move us on, but I'm just gonna give a quick.
[11:20] SPEAKER_01: I did swim today, on ground course report.
[11:23] SPEAKER_01: I swam the course.
[11:25] SPEAKER_01: I feel like there's some swell out there.
[11:27] SPEAKER_01: I dragged our very own Malachi Cashman around the course, and he took zero polls.
[11:33] SPEAKER_01: Um that's kind of the course.
[11:35] SPEAKER_01: I don't know if it's gonna make a big difference on race day, but yeah, I feel like that swim will be a little bit slow this year.
[11:40] SPEAKER_01: Um I mean, we know that people are gonna push it, but that's kind of it.
[11:42] SPEAKER_00: I had a bit of a theory to you that I've actually heard a couple of times, so I don't know if he's said it on any platforms, Greg, but I hadn't heard him say it, and I was talking to you in the car about it.
[11:51] SPEAKER_00: I said, Do you think there's a chance, because I think there is, that Sam Laidlow is going to kind of do what he did at London in the T100 again, maybe swim no swim skin, try and keep himself cool, let the front group go, not try and swallow a liter of water and overheat in the water.
[12:08] SPEAKER_00: Is there a chance that someone who is very race savvy and smart like Sam Laidlow might drop off the group because the water's very hot this week?
[12:15] SPEAKER_00: It's very choppy this week.
[12:16] SPEAKER_00: Everyone keeps reporting back after they swim, I swallowed fucking a liter of water, I feel sick, it's so hot in there, I'm overheating.
[12:23] SPEAKER_00: Is there a chance we see some big name athletes, Taylor Nib, Sam Laidlow, the kind of people I'm thinking of, drop off, maybe come out a minute back than what they usually would, so that they're not completely cooked onto the bike?
[12:35] SPEAKER_01: You know, Sam came out what 40 seconds back at the practice swim.
[12:38] SPEAKER_01: You know, I thought, hey, maybe he's kind of uh testing something.
[12:41] SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna kind of swim at the effort that I want to, and let's see how far these guys go ahead.
[12:46] SPEAKER_01: And we know Riddle and Schomburg like blasted that thing and they were they were dogging it, and that's only 40 seconds.
[12:51] SPEAKER_01: So we know Sam can catch up as quickly as essentially he wants, and probably drop them, you know, if there's just a smaller front group.
[12:59] SPEAKER_01: So I think it there's a noticeable heat in the water like five minutes in.
[13:04] SPEAKER_01: I was like, oh damn, it's hot in here.
[13:06] SPEAKER_01: So you know, we s it was very own Jan Ferdano critiquing him at the T100 on on camera, and then Laidlow won the race.
[13:13] SPEAKER_00: So probably the best performance of his career outside of his Iron Man world title, I would say.
[13:18] SPEAKER_02: He did say that that was a mistake, though.
[13:20] SPEAKER_02: I think he did he did come out and say that that wasn't like a plan.
[13:23] SPEAKER_02: Like he didn't, he said if he had his time again, he would have worn the wetsuit.
[13:28] SPEAKER_00: I don't believe him for a second.
[13:30] SPEAKER_00: When are we gonna get like come on?
[13:32] SPEAKER_00: Sam Laidlow is the king of mind games.
[13:34] SPEAKER_00: Christian gets the credit, Jan used to get the credit.
[13:37] SPEAKER_00: Sam Laidlow learnt from it and he does it.
[13:39] SPEAKER_00: He's not sick right now.
[13:40] SPEAKER_00: He's been telling everyone he's sick leading into this race.
[13:42] SPEAKER_00: Sam Laidlow's the healthiest fucker on this start list.
[13:45] SPEAKER_00: He would 100% do what he did at London again.
[13:48] SPEAKER_00: I talked to Magnus, I talked to Fred Funk, I talked to others in that front group at London.
[13:52] SPEAKER_00: They still talk about that as the best cycling performance they've been a part of in a race.
[13:55] SPEAKER_00: They said he went to the front of that London race and he was in a world of his own.
[13:59] SPEAKER_00: He he kept Kyle Smith off the back of him on that run for 18k when everyone thought Kyle would just run through him.
[14:04] SPEAKER_00: I think that whatever Sam Laidlow says about a race, do the opposite.
[14:09] SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
[14:09] SPEAKER_02: I think so.
[14:10] SPEAKER_02: But I also think him being in that exclusive group out of the water and sneaking away in that downtown section, the Kuwa Kini, he doesn't want to get onto the Queen K with 15 other dudes.
[14:22] SPEAKER_02: He wants to sneak away early.
[14:23] SPEAKER_02: He wants to use that technical-ish section to get away and already establish a gap.
[14:28] SPEAKER_02: There might be a couple of people with him, but he wants to hit the Queen K first or very close to the lead.
[14:34] SPEAKER_02: Get the moto, get the VinFast, you know, and see you later.
[14:38] SPEAKER_02: Look at him dropping the sponsor already.
[14:40] SPEAKER_01: He is ready for the commentating this weekend on the VinFast bike course, Sam Appleton.
[14:47] SPEAKER_01: It's actually embarrassing, Apple.
[14:48] SPEAKER_02: It was a joke because VinFast came in and sponsored for one year and they got out.
[14:53] SPEAKER_00: I think that whether he is with the main group or a little bit behind, I don't think he'll lead the swimmer.
[14:58] SPEAKER_00: I don't think we'll see what we saw in 2024 with him trying to break the swim apart.
[15:02] SPEAKER_00: I think he learned from that when he exploded later on on the end of the bike, started the marathon.
[15:07] SPEAKER_00: Learnt from London.
[15:08] SPEAKER_00: I think what we're going to see from Sam Ladlow is he'll go really easy in the swim.
[15:11] SPEAKER_00: He'll either stay at the back of the front group or even let it go.
[15:14] SPEAKER_00: And what we're going to see is a procession from Sam Ladlow.
[15:17] SPEAKER_00: He will probably within the first 20 kilometers of the bike work his way to the front of the race and he will put down an insane move when it starts going slightly uphill on the way out.
[15:27] SPEAKER_00: And I reckon 90k into the bike ride by the turnaround, he will be by himself.
[15:32] SPEAKER_00: I think he wants to come into T2 solo, but I think he'll do it smarter this time around than what he did in 2024.
[15:37] SPEAKER_00: I think he learnt that I did the right thing in the wrong way, and he'll just do a little bit less early, won't overheat as much, won't take on as much sodium in the water, and he will do it the right way this time.
[15:49] SPEAKER_00: He'll get the lead into T2 and be much fresher, in my opinion.
[15:52] SPEAKER_02: I do want to touch on your um swim skin thing, um, because we have seen Hayden Wilde not wear a swim skin for the last year at T100 races, right?
[16:02] SPEAKER_02: Like he's got that suit, he doesn't wear the swim skin.
[16:04] SPEAKER_02: So I think there could be athletes that forego the swim skin.
[16:08] SPEAKER_02: I know Lucy Charles did it at that Dallas PTO Dallas when it was really.
[16:12] SPEAKER_00: Because she's got such a good contract with Roker, will she be like, I've got to wear this because I'm the one who made the white Roka swim skin famous?
[16:20] SPEAKER_00: Or will she go just the tri-suit because she wants to stay cool?
[16:23] SPEAKER_00: She knows she has to push the pace because she wants to keep Taylor behind her for as long as possible.
[16:28] SPEAKER_00: I bet you her and Reese have had these discussions.
[16:30] SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, it's definitely interesting.
[16:32] SPEAKER_01: I just don't think it's like an the tech exists.
[16:35] SPEAKER_01: Uh you can't be in the water swimming with a sleeve suit.
[16:39] SPEAKER_01: That's also the most aerodynamic suit.
[16:42] SPEAKER_01: And like it has to give on one of those sides.
[16:44] SPEAKER_01: I feel like the shoulders would be too tight.
[16:46] SPEAKER_01: Like, I don't know.
[16:47] SPEAKER_01: I just I don't think that tech really is like it's here.
[16:50] SPEAKER_01: Not that it's like a big tech thing, but I I you know Hayden doesn't lead out the swims.
[16:55] SPEAKER_01: He like But he does enough to be where he's gonna be.
[16:57] SPEAKER_01: I know, but the T100 swims are soft these days.
[16:59] SPEAKER_01: Without Aaron Royal, the fastest swimmer and triathlon, these swims are soft.
[17:05] SPEAKER_01: So I don't know.
[17:06] SPEAKER_01: I just I I think there would be something to give on either side of that.
[17:09] SPEAKER_00: And just once again, shout out to Patrick Langer.
[17:12] SPEAKER_00: You are our best friend.
[17:13] SPEAKER_00: We love you, we've always loved you.
[17:15] SPEAKER_00: We'll never leave you, we'll never betray you, we'll never hurt you.
[17:18] SPEAKER_00: And good luck this weekend as you go about winning your fourth Iron Man world title and becoming the greatest German Iron Man athlete of all time.
[17:36] SPEAKER_00: Staying fit and healthy and not being a moody, irritable person while you're training as hard as we all do for Trithlon or running or swimming or riding is easy with pillar performance.
[17:47] SPEAKER_00: Triple magnesium every night before bed, it increases the quality of your sleep.
[17:50] SPEAKER_00: It's so much easier to fall asleep in my experience.
[17:52] SPEAKER_00: And sleep is the number one thing you can do while you're training hard that stops you being miserable and a sad o while you do the training and not showing up for everything else in your life.
[18:00] SPEAKER_00: They've got lots of other products, ultraimmunity keeps you healthy.
[18:03] SPEAKER_00: I love Ultra Omega-3.
[18:05] SPEAKER_00: They got protein, they got creatine, they're a one-stop shop for health.
[18:08] SPEAKER_00: Go and get yourself some.
[18:09] SPEAKER_00: Go to Pillar's website.
[18:10] SPEAKER_00: TTH15 is the discount code.
[18:12] SPEAKER_00: It gets you 15% off your first order.
[18:26] SPEAKER_01: I want to nominate Sam Laidlow for the excuse monitoring list.
[18:30] SPEAKER_01: You know, he's telling people he's sick, but I'm not quite sure.
[18:34] SPEAKER_01: Is it a new category?
[18:35] SPEAKER_01: It's called the fake excuse monitoring list, or what?
[18:38] SPEAKER_01: Because have we not learned anything from Sam?
[18:40] SPEAKER_01: It's the same old news.
[18:41] SPEAKER_02: It's literally, he's done this.
[18:43] SPEAKER_02: I w I we could probably think five times minimum.
[18:45] SPEAKER_02: Like Roth, he had the calf tear, runs at fucking 235.
[18:49] SPEAKER_02: Drops magnets.
[18:50] SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[18:52] SPEAKER_02: Um he's he was be he's been sick before other remote.
[18:55] SPEAKER_00: He's been sick before the 2023 Iron Man World Championship.
[18:58] SPEAKER_02: And then that whole documentary came, it's him and his dad like crying because they're not gonna get to the start, and then he fucking wins.
[19:03] SPEAKER_00: Um guys, he's fucking rid us.
[19:05] SPEAKER_02: Yeah, he's absolutely and then he had that six-month mysterious illness and then wins fucking Roth on 100 CTL or something.
[19:14] SPEAKER_02: Like, it's it's bullshit.
[19:15] SPEAKER_02: He's he's ready to go.
[19:17] SPEAKER_02: I think people are starting the clue in and just not buy into that now.
[19:20] SPEAKER_00: Let me translate for you.
[19:21] SPEAKER_00: This is the this is the Sam Laidlow dictionary.
[19:25] SPEAKER_00: I'm sick means I'm the healthiest I've been all year.
[19:28] SPEAKER_00: I'm fit as fuck.
[19:28] SPEAKER_00: I haven't missed any training, and I'm gonna beat everyone.
[19:31] SPEAKER_01: Yeah, basically.
[19:32] SPEAKER_01: I think that's that's legit.
[19:34] SPEAKER_01: And the the beauty of it, Sam can just do and say whatever he wants, and people are like, oh no, he's not sick, we won't discount him.
[19:41] SPEAKER_01: It doesn't matter if you discount him or not, he's gonna drop you on the bike and do what he wants.
[19:45] SPEAKER_01: So it's like he just he's got his finger on the trigger, as they say.
[19:50] SPEAKER_01: He he's in control of this race, and I think he is a good mind game guy, and you know, he's an Iron Man World Champ.
[19:55] SPEAKER_02: So do you think there's part of it for him?
[19:57] SPEAKER_02: Um, because it there's an interesting psychology, right?
[20:00] SPEAKER_02: Is is there a part of it to him that like it's almost he's putting it out there to reduce the pressure on him, and if he puts it out there that he's sick, it reduces his pressure that he's building up in his brain, right?
[20:13] SPEAKER_02: Like it's a self-preservation or self-um protection.
[20:17] SPEAKER_00: It's a pressure release for him.
[20:18] SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's a press this button when I'm going into a big race and I'm as fit as I've ever been, and I know I should do well, but I'm a bit afraid because there's a fear that comes with when you have to perform at that high level that I personally don't know, but people have told me about it.
[20:33] SPEAKER_00: I've seen it a million times.
[20:34] SPEAKER_00: I've felt it in my own little ways doing park runs and things like that, racing against 55-year-old women.
[20:39] SPEAKER_00: The wheat mix kids try.
[20:41] SPEAKER_00: I do the same thing.
[20:42] SPEAKER_00: I'm on the start line of parkrun, and there's like literally a 50-year-old woman next to me who looks quite fit, and I go, yo, I had a cold last week, so I'll probably just take the first 2K easy and I take off as fast as I fucking can.
[20:52] SPEAKER_00: So I get it, Sam.
[20:53] SPEAKER_00: I get it.
[20:53] SPEAKER_00: He definitely does that, Apo.
[20:55] SPEAKER_00: Um, look, Sam Laidlow, in my opinion, is the person who's gonna dictate what happens in the men's race.
[21:00] SPEAKER_00: I think the if you're gonna win this race, Sam Laidlow has to blow up.
[21:03] SPEAKER_00: I think if he has a day where he doesn't blow up, he wins this race.
[21:06] SPEAKER_00: So I think he's in control.
[21:07] SPEAKER_00: The the kind of race is in the palm of his hand.
[21:09] SPEAKER_00: Let's see what he does with it.
[21:11] SPEAKER_00: I want to talk about some people that maybe aren't the Sam Laidlow level of athlete.
[21:15] SPEAKER_00: I want to, I had this idea actually.
[21:18] SPEAKER_00: I want to bring three athletes that I think are the most underrated, most under talked about going into the race.
[21:24] SPEAKER_00: And maybe you boys can have a think about it now and come up with some names as we go as well.
[21:28] SPEAKER_00: Coming in at number three, I've got Christian Hoganhag.
[21:31] SPEAKER_00: I think the thing Christian Hoganhag struggles with sometimes is the heat, but then sometimes he does really well in the heat.
[21:36] SPEAKER_00: He came on the podcast and he talks about how because of that he does try and lose weight at the right time of the year, so he deals with the heat better.
[21:43] SPEAKER_00: He's known for doing, you know, lots and lots of threshold compared to most other people.
[21:47] SPEAKER_00: So when you get a version of him that's had a really big training block where he hasn't got sick or injured, he's a little bit lighter, so he deals with the heat better, he's done a heat training camp, things like that.
[21:56] SPEAKER_00: He hasn't had to go and look after his kids too much.
[21:59] SPEAKER_00: He actually is one of The best athletes in the world, in my opinion.
[22:02] SPEAKER_00: Very good swim, bike, and run.
[22:03] SPEAKER_00: I honestly think Christian Hoganhag should finish top six or seven here in Cone on the weekend.
[22:08] SPEAKER_00: And I don't think anyone has him as like a top five threat, really.
[22:11] SPEAKER_00: So he's number three for me.
[22:13] SPEAKER_00: At number two, I've seen her so many times on the island, and she's like the only person I'm scared to go and say hello to.
[22:18] SPEAKER_00: I genuinely have a little crush on her.
[22:21] SPEAKER_00: Not like a I'm in love with her crush, like a triathlon crush.
[22:24] SPEAKER_00: I think she's awesome.
[22:25] SPEAKER_00: I just love how she races, she's super fun.
[22:28] SPEAKER_00: It's Daisy Davies.
[22:29] SPEAKER_00: I love her.
[22:30] SPEAKER_00: I've talked, I reckon I talk about Daisy Davies more than anyone in Triathon.
[22:33] SPEAKER_00: I bring her up every second week on the podcast.
[22:35] SPEAKER_00: It's true.
[22:36] SPEAKER_00: You know, Vicky said that Rebecca Andry's the best cyclist in Triathlon.
[22:40] SPEAKER_00: She's coming up, she's going to be the best cyclist in Iron Man.
[22:43] SPEAKER_00: I think Daisy Davies is that person that she actually thought she was talking about, and she called her Rebecca Anderbury.
[22:49] SPEAKER_00: Daisy's she's young, she's up and coming, she could be anything.
[22:53] SPEAKER_00: I think she could genuinely work her way up onto a podium this weekend.
[22:57] SPEAKER_00: That's how high I'm I am on Daisy Davies.
[22:59] SPEAKER_00: And at number one, it's Menno Coolhouse.
[23:03] SPEAKER_00: Now, guys, we do realize that last time the men's race was at Kona, Menno came fifth, right?
[23:10] SPEAKER_00: Like he's a beast.
[23:12] SPEAKER_00: He came fourth at London.
[23:13] SPEAKER_00: He won at Iron Man Arizona.
[23:14] SPEAKER_00: Like these hot races, he came fourth at Challenge Roth earlier in the year.
[23:18] SPEAKER_00: Singapore he came fourth.
[23:20] SPEAKER_00: He's a beast when it's hot.
[23:22] SPEAKER_00: He's great at pacing himself.
[23:23] SPEAKER_00: He's a highly underrated swim biker and he runs like the Terminator.
[23:28] SPEAKER_00: Like he won't come out and run 230, but he very well might come out and run like 238, 239.
[23:34] SPEAKER_00: I think Menno Coolhouse is the guy who could finish on the podium that no one's talking about.
[23:39] SPEAKER_01: They're all good shouts, Jack.
[23:41] SPEAKER_01: And uh I always agree with Jack.
[23:45] SPEAKER_01: He's convincing, isn't he?
[23:46] SPEAKER_01: There was a Spotify comment saying it's like when you're sitting in the room with him, he's looking at talking into your eyes, and I'm like, okay, what do you want me to do?
[23:53] SPEAKER_01: Like, I'll do anything.
[23:54] SPEAKER_01: So good shots on that.
[23:55] SPEAKER_01: Uh I'll go into my three.
[23:57] SPEAKER_01: Um coming at number three, and honestly, mine are kind of I wouldn't say the order is uh yeah, really one, two, three.
[24:04] SPEAKER_01: It's just three people.
[24:05] SPEAKER_01: So number three or number one, who cares?
[24:08] SPEAKER_01: Imogen Simmons.
[24:10] SPEAKER_01: I feel like she's on an upward trajectory throughout the year.
[24:14] SPEAKER_01: And, you know, she's she's someone who's finished in the top five at world championship races.
[24:19] SPEAKER_01: She's got an Iron Man under her belt.
[24:21] SPEAKER_01: I feel like she's gonna go here and be race as a veteran as she, you know, as she is, and not go too crazy.
[24:29] SPEAKER_01: She's probably like, I'm gonna execute my race and go top five.
[24:32] SPEAKER_00: Greg, after every time you bring up a female athlete, I'm just gonna ask you one simple question.
[24:36] SPEAKER_00: Was that the person that Apo asked if they were commentating the race this weekend?
[24:42] SPEAKER_01: It wasn't.
[24:43] SPEAKER_01: But um, should I change my number two?
[24:48] SPEAKER_01: Uh coming in next, uh, Antonio Benito Lopez.
[24:52] SPEAKER_01: He's looking good.
[24:53] SPEAKER_01: You know, he's been so solid across a lot of the Iron Man's he did, and he swam at the pointy end of that that uh training swim, which I was quite impressed with.
[25:03] SPEAKER_01: I mean, shit, he was coming in, did he come out like in front of Vince Louie?
[25:06] SPEAKER_01: Like he might have gotten third place in that.
[25:08] SPEAKER_01: So he's obviously swimming quite well.
[25:10] SPEAKER_01: He's made improvements there.
[25:12] SPEAKER_01: He's not gonna be a powerhouse on the bike, but he doesn't really get dropped either.
[25:17] SPEAKER_01: And we've seen him do great things in the marathon.
[25:22] SPEAKER_01: So I think, yeah, honestly, it's you go Christian Hoganhag like a sneaky podium, someone could do it.
[25:29] SPEAKER_01: Benito could be that guy as well.
[25:32] SPEAKER_01: However, I think this next guy is more likely, and that's Pierre Lacour.
[25:37] SPEAKER_01: Look, Pierre Lacour at his heyday, he's getting on short course podiums at the top level.
[25:43] SPEAKER_01: This guy has the potential to be the best runner in this field.
[25:47] SPEAKER_01: I don't know where he's at.
[25:48] SPEAKER_01: He hasn't had the most consistent like time in the last few years at this level.
[25:53] SPEAKER_01: He had a decent New Zealand.
[25:55] SPEAKER_01: The French athletes are just good, and they show up on the big days.
[25:59] SPEAKER_01: They've been developed well over the over their careers.
[26:01] SPEAKER_01: And honestly, Pierre Lacour is a great, great athlete.
[26:05] SPEAKER_01: I feel like people aren't even talking about top ten.
[26:07] SPEAKER_01: I feel like he could be frickin' top five, even better.
[26:10] SPEAKER_00: We were driving yesterday, I think it was Greg.
[26:12] SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
[26:13] SPEAKER_00: And I'm driving, or Greg was driving, actually.
[26:15] SPEAKER_00: I was in the passenger scene, I was a bit distracted, and Greg just starts going, Wow, look at him.
[26:20] SPEAKER_00: And I look at turn and it's Pierre Lecour running with a shirt off.
[26:24] SPEAKER_00: And ever since this, Greg has been obsessing with him.
[26:26] SPEAKER_00: He keeps going, like, guys, I don't know.
[26:27] SPEAKER_00: I think we're sleeping on Pierre Lecour.
[26:31] SPEAKER_00: He just loved him.
[26:32] SPEAKER_00: And we kind of drove slowly next to him for a bit, like Greg was full creeping on him.
[26:36] SPEAKER_00: And like this road you drive on, like a Lee Drive, where everyone's running, like it's packed with traffic, and usually you're like five metres behind a car.
[26:44] SPEAKER_00: And the car in front of us got like 150 metres in front of us because Greg just started going like, you know, like 15 kilometres an hour, and there was like a pile up of cars behind us.
[26:52] SPEAKER_00: And we literally wrote like drove next to Pierre LeCorp for probably a solid 35, 40 seconds on a Lee drive.
[26:59] SPEAKER_00: And Greg was like, dude, I wish I do I look like that when I ran.
[27:02] SPEAKER_00: I wish I could look like that when I run.
[27:04] SPEAKER_00: He's a genuine podium threat, Jack.
[27:06] SPEAKER_00: I'm telling you, I'm telling you, he was getting so worked up about it.
[27:09] SPEAKER_00: So it's just not a shock to me that that's who you brought to the table, Greg.
[27:12] SPEAKER_00: I like it though.
[27:14] SPEAKER_00: I do think his bike is suspect.
[27:16] SPEAKER_00: I don't know if I think he can keep up, particularly on the way back into town when the boys are in their 64, you know, front chain wheels, pushing a big gear, riding fast.
[27:25] SPEAKER_00: I think he's a real small guy, skinny guy, kind of weak guy, but such a good runner.
[27:31] SPEAKER_00: But you know what I mean?
[27:32] SPEAKER_00: Like he's not he's not rocking a 64-tooth front chain wheel, putting it like in the 30 at the back and saying, let's ride at 80 kilometres down this hill here at 350 watts.
[27:41] SPEAKER_00: He's just not Sam Lade lowing or Magnus Ditliffing the bike course like that, is he?
[27:44] SPEAKER_00: Like he and that's what you kind of have to do to keep up with these big boys out front.
[27:48] SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I that I was gonna bring it up as well.
[27:50] SPEAKER_02: I think the bike, I think you're right, Greg.
[27:52] SPEAKER_02: I think he is probably one of the best runners.
[27:55] SPEAKER_02: If he if he's on, like his running is phenomenal.
[27:58] SPEAKER_02: But yeah, there's a bit of a question mark around the bike um for me around Pierre, but um, yeah, we'll see.
[28:04] SPEAKER_02: We'll see what happens.
[28:05] SPEAKER_02: All right, my three, um, again, not in really any order.
[28:09] SPEAKER_02: I just picked three that uh I think deserve talking about, really.
[28:13] SPEAKER_02: And the first one for me is Katrine Christensen.
[28:16] SPEAKER_02: Um, we saw her kind of really burst onto the scene um earlier this year.
[28:20] SPEAKER_02: Was it Hamburg?
[28:21] SPEAKER_02: She ran a 245.
[28:22] SPEAKER_01: Um Have we clarified this country thing on the podcast?
[28:26] SPEAKER_01: Because I think we may owe her an apology.
[28:29] SPEAKER_01: Let's come to that.
[28:30] SPEAKER_00: Let me just quickly say this.
[28:30] SPEAKER_00: Apo just goes, Did you hear this, Greg?
[28:32] SPEAKER_00: And this is great podcast craft from Apo, but I'm gonna take you behind the curtain here.
[28:36] SPEAKER_00: Earlier we were talking on the on the couch, and I'm I'm saying, I love Katrine.
[28:39] SPEAKER_00: She's not underrated.
[28:40] SPEAKER_00: I always say she's like one of the best in the world.
[28:42] SPEAKER_00: And Apo's like, she doesn't run very fast though, does she?
[28:44] SPEAKER_00: I'm like, she literally ran 245 at Hamburg.
[28:47] SPEAKER_00: And you go, he goes, Oh, you're right, she did.
[28:49] SPEAKER_00: She is a good runner, isn't he?
[28:51] SPEAKER_00: And just then he's gone.
[28:52] SPEAKER_00: I think she had that fast run earlier in the year in Hamburg, was it?
[28:57] SPEAKER_02: Guilty, guilty as charged, uh, Your Honor.
[29:00] SPEAKER_02: Um, anyway, and we know how strong she is on the bike, right?
[29:03] SPEAKER_02: At um what was it, Elsinore 70.3 as well, when she just rode through everyone.
[29:10] SPEAKER_02: Um, she's like, I'm looking forward to seeing her do some damage on the bike.
[29:13] SPEAKER_02: Her swim pro like is a huge weakness, right?
[29:17] SPEAKER_02: Like, there's no doubt about that.
[29:18] SPEAKER_02: But yeah, I'm kind of excited to see her get on the bike and just mow through, and I think she will.
[29:22] SPEAKER_02: And um, if she's in that 245 shape for running, I think her bike run combo is pretty lethal.
[29:29] SPEAKER_02: So I yeah, I'm excited to see uh to see how she goes.
[29:32] SPEAKER_02: Was she at Calmar?
[29:33] SPEAKER_02: Oh wait, you wouldn't know.
[29:36] SPEAKER_02: Look, I did go back and watch the broadcast.
[29:38] SPEAKER_02: All right, all right, all right.
[29:40] SPEAKER_02: Uh next on the list, I've got Hannah Berry.
[29:42] SPEAKER_02: Um, I think I don't think Hannah's necessarily underrated, but I don't think people are talking about her, right?
[29:47] SPEAKER_02: And uh she was like fifth here or fourth, like phenomenal race.
[29:53] SPEAKER_02: And everyone talks about that big four or five women, and Hannah Berry is just never in there.
[29:58] SPEAKER_02: So I think she's worth talking about.
[29:59] SPEAKER_02: She's just always good, right?
[30:01] SPEAKER_02: Always solid, just swim, bike, run, like no real weakness, but no real like super strength.
[30:07] SPEAKER_02: Just great swim, bike, and run.
[30:09] SPEAKER_02: Can she go higher, you think, than fourth?
[30:12] SPEAKER_00: Like, that's the thing.
[30:13] SPEAKER_00: I think that's why she doesn't get talked about great because I think we all look at Hannah Berry and think the exact same thing.
[30:17] SPEAKER_00: Yeah, she could come third.
[30:19] SPEAKER_00: Yeah, she could come fourth, yeah, she could come fifth, but we get so hyper fixated on talking about who can win the race, Lucy, Taylor, Julie Durong, Kat Matthews, Laura Phillip, these people who could come tenth or first.
[30:29] SPEAKER_00: I don't think any of us expect Hanna Berry to walk the whole marathon and come 35th, do we?
[30:33] SPEAKER_00: We expect her to finish between third and tenth.
[30:35] SPEAKER_02: It's like a safe bet, right?
[30:36] SPEAKER_02: It's like uh it's yeah, it's kind of like you bet you're it's the safe bet for for like that fifth to eighth range, and I think that's why maybe she doesn't get spoken about, like you said.
[30:46] SPEAKER_00: She's not crypto.
[30:47] SPEAKER_00: She's not crypto.
[30:48] SPEAKER_00: She's going and bet she's going and investing in tried and truth.
[30:51] SPEAKER_00: She's the NASDAQ.
[30:52] SPEAKER_01: She's the NASDAQ.
[30:54] SPEAKER_01: 100%.
[30:55] SPEAKER_01: You know it's gonna go up over time.
[30:57] SPEAKER_01: You're not gonna make a killing, but you'll you'll do good.
[31:00] SPEAKER_02: Low risk, low reward.
[31:02] SPEAKER_00: You know who's the most crypto athlete on the start list this weekend?
[31:07] SPEAKER_00: Is it it could be Sam Long?
[31:09] SPEAKER_01: No, it could be Foley.
[31:11] SPEAKER_00: Oh, Foley's a good one.
[31:12] SPEAKER_00: I don't mind Foley.
[31:14] SPEAKER_01: He has gotten more consistent this year, but he's he's been crypto-esque in the in this consistency.
[31:18] SPEAKER_01: I think Sam, I know we just talked about him.
[31:20] SPEAKER_00: I think Sam Laidlow's crypto.
[31:22] SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[31:24] SPEAKER_01: He the the the thing why Sam Laidlow's so good though, he's kind of not crypto at the big races.
[31:30] SPEAKER_01: I mean, I know and I know last year.
[31:35] SPEAKER_00: His stock price rose so high in the box.
[31:40] SPEAKER_00: He had the biggest rise in stock price and crashed in corner 2024.
[31:44] SPEAKER_02: GameStop 2020, uh, what was the GameStop year?
[31:48] SPEAKER_00: I also reckon low-key Cat Matthews is a little crypto at the moment.
[31:53] SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I think I think that's actually pretty good shout.
[31:56] SPEAKER_00: Yeah, let us know in the Spotify comments who do you think is the most high-risk stock, who's crypto, and who is the safest?
[32:02] SPEAKER_00: Who's the Nasdaq?
[32:03] SPEAKER_00: Who's been at like the Dow Jones?
[32:05] SPEAKER_00: Yeah, who's been increasing 8% per year for the last 40 years?
[32:09] SPEAKER_00: Let us know.
[32:19] SPEAKER_00: I love personalized one-on-one triathlon coaching, but I also realize there's so many people out there who aren't ready for that commitment, or maybe more importantly, just can't afford to do it.
[32:31] SPEAKER_00: So if you're one of those people, I have your solution.
[32:34] SPEAKER_00: Go to the app store and download Stamina.
[32:37] SPEAKER_00: Stamina is a world-class training platform where you can go on there, input all of your information, all of your personalized needs, and you will get programmed by world-class athletes and coaches for a fraction of the cost.
[32:51] SPEAKER_00: It's less than$20 per month.
[32:54] SPEAKER_00: And if you use the discount code TTH, then you get one week to try it for free.
[32:59] SPEAKER_00: So there's really nothing to lose.
[33:00] SPEAKER_00: Go and download Stamina, try it for yourself for a week.
[33:03] SPEAKER_00: And if you love it, keep using it until you're ready to go and commit to a one-on-one coach or can afford it.
[33:19] SPEAKER_02: Um, I got one more.
[33:20] SPEAKER_02: Um, and this man, uh, you know, speaking of tan, we brought that up earlier.
[33:25] SPEAKER_02: Those pictures from that practice swim, oh my god, Vincent Louie.
[33:29] SPEAKER_02: He wrapped his pedo too.
[33:31] SPEAKER_02: Yeah, he's backed.
[33:32] SPEAKER_02: He was the only one.
[33:33] SPEAKER_02: He's looking for he's like, I ain't covering this body up.
[33:35] SPEAKER_02: And you know, you gotta respect it.
[33:37] SPEAKER_02: Uh, he's got the little French uh facial hair going on.
[33:40] SPEAKER_02: Man's looking good.
[33:41] SPEAKER_00: It's a guy who knows women look at him and think, yeah, I'm in.
[33:45] SPEAKER_00: And guys look at him and think, yeah, I want to be him.
[33:48] SPEAKER_00: He knows that's what everyone's thinking, and he exploits it.
[33:51] SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
[33:52] SPEAKER_02: I mean, fair play.
[33:53] SPEAKER_02: If you got it, flaw it, right?
[33:54] SPEAKER_02: Um, but I think this is his last race.
[33:56] SPEAKER_02: Like, he's literally retiring.
[33:58] SPEAKER_02: I think.
[33:59] SPEAKER_00: The amount of attention he's got this weekend, though.
[34:01] SPEAKER_00: I reckon he might get a little buzz from this race and be like, Is it really my time to retire?
[34:05] SPEAKER_00: Like he Especially if he does well.
[34:07] SPEAKER_00: God, he's popular on this island.
[34:09] SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but if he does well, like I could see him being like, actually, maybe I'm not gonna retire.
[34:13] SPEAKER_01: Like, if he I feel like he almost announced it when he wasn't quite doing well.
[34:17] SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and then all of a sudden they maybe the pressure's off, and he's like, Wow, I've gotten quite fit again.
[34:21] SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
[34:22] SPEAKER_02: Um, and rumor on the street is that he's been training really well and he looks fit, and I think, you know, we know his pedigree.
[34:29] SPEAKER_02: I just think he's getting better and better at this middle and long distance stuff, and he had a great race at Texas.
[34:35] SPEAKER_02: Um, and yeah, the man looks good, and I think I think he's gonna put a pretty, you know, I think he'll surprise.
[34:40] SPEAKER_01: If he does well, though, it's like you like to see guys go out near the top too.
[34:44] SPEAKER_01: You know, it's just it's kind of a good story that he's ending.
[34:47] SPEAKER_01: It's not like, oh, Vince kind of had a mediocre year, he got to Kona, he's gonna retire.
[34:51] SPEAKER_01: It's like this guy's a world champion, and he might end on a really great note and then just be done with it.
[34:56] SPEAKER_01: That's just like I love that type of finish for him.
[34:58] SPEAKER_00: So we just listed nine names of people who we think are highly underrated: Menno Coolhouse, Daisy Davies, Christian Hoganhag, Pierre Lecour, Antonio Benito Lopez, Imogen Simmons, Vincent Louis, Hannah Berry, and Katrine Christensen.
[35:12] SPEAKER_00: Greg, of the nine, who finishes the highest on the weekend?
[35:16] SPEAKER_01: So I don't know if you guys heard.
[35:18] SPEAKER_01: I saw him running on a Lehey drive without a shirt on, and that's my man Pierre Lecour, and I'm picking him for you know, is it third?
[35:26] SPEAKER_01: I don't know, but it's a top five.
[35:28] SPEAKER_00: We've really got to stop talking about men with their shirts and how sexy we find everyone.
[35:32] SPEAKER_00: It's actually getting to be a problem.
[35:34] SPEAKER_00: So I'm wanting to put a full stop on that.
[35:36] SPEAKER_00: Apo, who is going to finish higher of those nine this week?
[35:40] SPEAKER_02: Um, I think it might be either Menokulhas or Hanniberi.
[35:46] SPEAKER_02: So that's what we call a fence sitting answer.
[35:48] SPEAKER_02: That's just a safe that's the Nasdaq.
[35:49] SPEAKER_02: It's a Dow jump.
[35:50] SPEAKER_01: Didn't you ask for one person?
[35:52] SPEAKER_01: One person.
[35:53] SPEAKER_00: And he gives two.
[35:54] SPEAKER_02: Well, I went a min and one.
[35:55] SPEAKER_02: Oh, okay.
[35:56] SPEAKER_02: I'm talking nine.
[35:57] SPEAKER_00: No, no, this isn't sexist.
[35:58] SPEAKER_00: I'm asking you to pick one name.
[36:00] SPEAKER_00: We don't have to we don't have to go one man, one woman.
[36:02] SPEAKER_00: Hanabarry.
[36:03] SPEAKER_00: Hanniberi.
[36:04] SPEAKER_00: I think that's the safest pick.
[36:05] SPEAKER_00: I'll go Meno coolhouse.
[36:06] SPEAKER_00: I had him as my number one.
[36:08] SPEAKER_00: Dude Apple looking at me right now.
[36:10] SPEAKER_01: Like he's he gives me these looks sometimes that and I get a little scared.
[36:14] SPEAKER_01: Like he wants to kill me.
[36:16] SPEAKER_01: It's not like yesterday when his brain wasn't working.
[36:18] SPEAKER_01: He's it's firing.
[36:19] SPEAKER_02: No, I'm locked in.
[36:20] SPEAKER_02: I've had some carbs today.
[36:21] SPEAKER_02: Greg.
[36:22] SPEAKER_02: Last night.
[36:23] SPEAKER_00: Greg, quickfire.
[36:24] SPEAKER_00: Who will have the fastest swim in both the men's and women's race this weekend?
[36:28] SPEAKER_00: Go.
[36:28] SPEAKER_01: I'm going Lucy.
[36:30] SPEAKER_01: Can't look past her.
[36:31] SPEAKER_01: The men's hard.
[36:33] SPEAKER_01: I'm just gonna say Riddle.
[36:34] SPEAKER_01: I think he just wants to get out there and maybe get that bonus or something like that.
[36:37] SPEAKER_01: So Riddle.
[36:38] SPEAKER_00: Apo, quickfire.
[36:39] SPEAKER_00: Who do you think will have the fastest bike?
[36:42] SPEAKER_00: Men's and women's race?
[36:43] SPEAKER_00: Go.
[36:44] SPEAKER_02: I mean, there's obvious answers, right?
[36:46] SPEAKER_02: Part of me wants to get a bit cute with it.
[36:48] SPEAKER_02: But the obvious answers are laid low and nib.
[36:52] SPEAKER_02: But if I wanted to get cute with it, I might do like a Sam Long for the bike.
[36:55] SPEAKER_00: Sam Long fastest bike.
[36:57] SPEAKER_01: That's crazy.
[36:59] SPEAKER_01: What do you feel like?
[37:00] SPEAKER_01: My heart wants that.
[37:02] SPEAKER_01: I don't want to say that.
[37:03] SPEAKER_01: For some reason, I've just got to do it.
[37:04] SPEAKER_01: Hey, he got seven watts from a new helmet last week.
[37:08] SPEAKER_02: I I just feel like he's he's a guy that just seems so confident in his approach.
[37:12] SPEAKER_02: He's doing he's putting everything on Strava.
[37:14] SPEAKER_02: He's like, fuck it, I'm not going to the island.
[37:16] SPEAKER_02: I'm saving 10 grand.
[37:18] SPEAKER_02: I'm I'm flying in late.
[37:19] SPEAKER_02: He's like, I kind of respect it.
[37:21] SPEAKER_02: And I don't know if it's gonna work, right?
[37:23] SPEAKER_02: Like, I think the safe bet is laid low, but I don't know.
[37:26] SPEAKER_00: Is there anyone to get cute with in the women's race or it's just nib?
[37:29] SPEAKER_02: I mean Katrine Christensen, potentially.
[37:31] SPEAKER_02: Solvay?
[37:32] SPEAKER_02: What about uh Rebecca?
[37:34] SPEAKER_00: Rebecca Anderbury.
[37:35] SPEAKER_00: What Greg.
[37:37] SPEAKER_00: Greg, was Rebecca Andry the female that Apos asked if they were commenting if they were commentating the race last night, yes or no?
[37:46] SPEAKER_01: No, unfortunately not.
[37:47] SPEAKER_00: It was not Rebecca Andbury.
[37:49] SPEAKER_00: That's two names off the list.
[37:50] SPEAKER_00: You can play this at home if you want.
[37:52] SPEAKER_00: Go and get the women's start list, print it out, and cross off the names you know it's not, and see if you can figure out.
[37:58] SPEAKER_00: Let's kind of do this.
[37:59] SPEAKER_00: This is we all love a good making a murderer murder documentary.
[38:02] SPEAKER_02: If you if you see me on the island, you can come up and I'll tell you in person.
[38:06] SPEAKER_00: Wow.
[38:07] SPEAKER_00: Like that.
[38:07] SPEAKER_01: Any any uh anyone listening someone will be shouting at that as we run down to Lehi tomorrow morning.
[38:14] SPEAKER_00: But if you're good enough to private investigate this as well and you're not on the island, respect.
[38:19] SPEAKER_00: Go and get it, go and hustle.
[38:20] SPEAKER_02: Jack, um what about you?
[38:22] SPEAKER_02: Fastest run, men and women.
[38:25] SPEAKER_02: Who you got?
[38:26] SPEAKER_00: I'm confident on mine.
[38:27] SPEAKER_00: I'm not fence sitting like you and trying to play off that like, oh, there's some really cheeky ones here, just as a way to bring multiple athletes into the game.
[38:34] SPEAKER_00: Gustav Eden has the fastest men's run this weekend.
[38:38] SPEAKER_00: He's the course record holder, and Julie Duron has the fastest women's run.
[38:42] SPEAKER_00: Pencil them both in, take them to the bank.
[38:44] SPEAKER_00: You don't even need to watch the run.
[38:45] SPEAKER_01: That's crazy, man.
[38:47] SPEAKER_01: That's actually crazy that you would do that to our boy.
[38:50] SPEAKER_01: You would do that to our boy Patrick Lang.
[38:52] SPEAKER_01: You would literally sit here on a podcast and say that Gustav Eden's gonna run faster than the three time chat.
[38:59] SPEAKER_01: That's honestly fucking disrespectful.
[39:02] SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
[39:02] SPEAKER_01: I mean come on, Apple.
[39:06] SPEAKER_01: What about him fence sitting just throwing the number of things?
[39:07] SPEAKER_01: No, no, he doesn't even believe in Patrick Lang.
[39:09] SPEAKER_01: I'm just disappointed.
[39:10] SPEAKER_00: Why do you hate Patrick Langer?
[39:12] SPEAKER_00: He's the best friend of the show.
[39:13] SPEAKER_02: I'm just I'm I'm playing the villain here.
[39:15] SPEAKER_02: You know, it's my turn to uh to sprinkle in the spice.
[39:18] SPEAKER_00: Okay, say something nasty about Patrick Langer then.
[39:21] SPEAKER_02: Um one time Patrick um no, this is a true story.
[39:25] SPEAKER_02: Uh a few years ago I raced Kona and we'll wait, uh it was after party sitting out the front of um Hugo's.
[39:31] SPEAKER_02: I think we're waiting to get into the after party, and he came up to me and uh, you know, I was like, Oh Patrick, you know, good job.
[39:38] SPEAKER_02: And then we shook hands and he gave me the most like flaccid lettuce leaf handshake.
[39:43] SPEAKER_02: And ever since then I've been oh dog.
[39:45] SPEAKER_02: That's it.
[39:47] SPEAKER_02: I want that you race.
[39:48] SPEAKER_02: No, I was on the commentary team.
[39:50] SPEAKER_02: That's what I told him.
[39:51] SPEAKER_00: I just I just said, uh, say something mean about Patrick Langer, and you proceed to tell the longest, most boring story about how he gave you a soft handshake.
[39:59] SPEAKER_02: Yeah, like I want the firm grip, you know.
[40:01] SPEAKER_02: I want the uh I want the the Iron Man world champion should be dominant, should be, you know, he should be peacocking.
[40:08] SPEAKER_02: He should be, he should, you know, asserting his dominance.
[40:11] SPEAKER_00: They're not like a rugby player, they're a skinny triathlete who can perform at like 40 degrees Celsius on the marathon in a run.
[40:17] SPEAKER_00: They've literally got to weigh like 55 kilos and be scrawny and weak.
[40:21] SPEAKER_00: That's the whole point.
[40:22] SPEAKER_00: You can't be doing bicep curls as a professional triathlete.
[40:25] SPEAKER_02: I don't I don't hate Patrick for the record.
[40:27] SPEAKER_02: I love Patrick, you know.
[40:28] SPEAKER_02: I'm just playing the villain here, and I just I don't think he's got it in him this weekend.
[40:32] SPEAKER_00: We all love Patrick Langer.
[40:33] SPEAKER_00: I don't think he needs the fastest run to win this race.
[40:35] SPEAKER_00: He'll set himself up with a world-class swim like he always does.
[40:38] SPEAKER_00: He's one of the most underrated swimmers in the game.
[40:41] SPEAKER_00: He'll set himself up on the bike as well.
[40:43] SPEAKER_00: He won't get dropped.
[40:44] SPEAKER_00: He'll he'll have some teamwork going on out there.
[40:46] SPEAKER_00: Everyone loves him, so everyone will want to help him.
[40:48] SPEAKER_00: He'll get himself into a sneaky good position off the bike and he'll cruise in.
[40:52] SPEAKER_00: 238.
[40:53] SPEAKER_00: He'll do all he needs to do.
[40:54] SPEAKER_00: He'll soak up the last 500 metres and be crowned a four-time Iron Man World Champion.
[40:58] SPEAKER_00: So he doesn't need it.
[40:58] SPEAKER_00: Whereas Gustav will have to run really fast to get that second place um position on the podium.
[41:04] SPEAKER_02: I love it, Jack.
[41:05] SPEAKER_02: I love it.
[41:05] SPEAKER_02: Any um any wild cards for you?
[41:08] SPEAKER_02: And you can't pick like Christian for for the run.
[41:10] SPEAKER_02: Is there anyone that people aren't talking about?
[41:12] SPEAKER_02: Like a like a Pierre, but we already spoke about him.
[41:14] SPEAKER_02: Is there anybody else?
[41:15] SPEAKER_02: You gotta say Matt Hansen.
[41:17] SPEAKER_01: Like I I know it's like, but then he does he has done good things this year, and you know, I I'm not sure.
[41:24] SPEAKER_01: He hasn't always done great in heat, but uh yeah.
[41:27] SPEAKER_01: Uh he he could do it.
[41:29] SPEAKER_01: He has the pedigree, 100%.
[41:30] SPEAKER_01: If he he can just ride really controlled and then unleash his marathon, and maybe some of the guys up front had to ride a little bit harder.
[41:36] SPEAKER_01: I I don't think he'll finish close to the top ten per se, but he could still run the fastest time.
[41:41] SPEAKER_00: I think there's a couple of names we could throw around.
[41:43] SPEAKER_00: We haven't talked about Jason West all week.
[41:45] SPEAKER_00: He's not gonna ride too hard, I don't think.
[41:47] SPEAKER_00: I think he'll play the conservative game like Yuri Kulin.
[41:50] SPEAKER_00: And I also think Yuri Kulin's a name we could throw about.
[41:52] SPEAKER_00: We've seen what Yuri Kulin's done in the heat in the past at Miami T-100 and Singapore T-100, where he think he finished fourth and then first in those two races, both brutally hot, very similar conditions to Cona, actually.
[42:02] SPEAKER_00: Actually, both probably a bit tougher than the Singapore experience in here.
[42:06] SPEAKER_00: Oh, definitely Singapore.
[42:07] SPEAKER_00: Um so those two uh are names.
[42:10] SPEAKER_00: Who knows what Martin Van Riel's gonna do?
[42:12] SPEAKER_00: He might have to fight for the win and force himself to run really fast.
[42:15] SPEAKER_00: He also, judging on what he's telling us, isn't in that shape, so he might not.
[42:19] SPEAKER_00: And I really like Meno Coolhouse.
[42:21] SPEAKER_00: I think he's gonna have an insane run.
[42:22] SPEAKER_00: So there's a few names of people who could have fast runs, but I'm sticking with my guns.
[42:27] SPEAKER_00: I think it's Gustav Eden and Julie Duron all day.
[42:39] SPEAKER_00: Unless you've been living under a rock, you already know that precision fuel and hydration make the best gels and electrolyte tablets in the game.
[42:47] SPEAKER_00: So whatever you're training for, make sure you're using precision fuel and hydration to support your training.
[42:52] SPEAKER_00: And use the discount code TTH15 to get 15% off your first order through their website.
[42:57] SPEAKER_00: And when you do that, please, we would love it if you could tell precision that you heard about them through the Trithlon hour.
[43:04] SPEAKER_00: It's easy to do, easy to fill out when you purchase anything on their website.
[43:17] SPEAKER_00: Apo, Greg, we talked about it to finish the show yesterday.
[43:21] SPEAKER_00: We've been hyped about it all day.
[43:22] SPEAKER_00: By the time we recorded this podcast, 110 of you had left comments on the Spotify.
[43:27] SPEAKER_00: We love it.
[43:28] SPEAKER_00: We love it.
[43:29] SPEAKER_00: Um look, let's try and let's try and get as many comments as we can all week.
[43:33] SPEAKER_00: It's just so much fun.
[43:34] SPEAKER_00: We sit here on the couch that we're recording this on, reading the Spotify comments to each other, or like we're we're going about our day and we just read out a Spotify comment that came and it gives us a good laugh or something to talk about.
[43:45] SPEAKER_00: So, yeah, please keep those Spotify comments coming in.
[43:48] SPEAKER_00: I'll lead us off.
[43:49] SPEAKER_00: Max Quirk, he said petition for Spotify videos.
[43:55] SPEAKER_00: I'm open to it.
[43:57] SPEAKER_00: We're not doing the YouTube videos because we have something.
[44:00] SPEAKER_00: A little bit funner and more special coming on the YouTube either tomorrow or the next day that you can all look forward to.
[44:06] SPEAKER_00: But I'm gonna say this I think his comment had about 40 love hearts.
[44:11] SPEAKER_00: Max, if you and you alone comment on this Spotify episode and put a petition for the Spotify videos, and it gets 120 or more Love Heart reacts, we will do Spotify videos for all of the podcasts for the rest of the week.
[44:27] SPEAKER_00: Do you agree with that, Greg and Apo?
[44:29] SPEAKER_02: Yeah, love it.
[44:30] SPEAKER_02: Love it.
[44:30] SPEAKER_02: Um Stefan Little, top 10 bet.
[44:33] SPEAKER_02: Jack shaves his mustache or Apo grows one.
[44:37] SPEAKER_02: Um I would be down for that, but my mustache, like I've tried to grow a mustache before.
[44:42] SPEAKER_01: I want to kind of throw shade at you and be like, oh Apple, there's no way Apple could grow a mustache, but here you are saying you are you saying you can't?
[44:49] SPEAKER_01: Basically, yes.
[44:50] SPEAKER_02: I get like it, you get like that little smear, that little like looks like you got some dirt on your top lip.
[44:56] SPEAKER_02: That's what I get.
[44:57] SPEAKER_02: Like it's not uh, you know.
[44:59] SPEAKER_00: I've got one then.
[45:00] SPEAKER_00: It's Regan Hollyoak we're talking about.
[45:02] SPEAKER_00: Regan Hollyoak top ten.
[45:04] SPEAKER_00: If she finishes inside the top ten, I shave my mustache.
[45:07] SPEAKER_00: If she finishes outside the top ten, you have to grow your pubes for 12 months and you're not allowed to shave them.
[45:15] SPEAKER_02: So just what I just live just live normally then.
[45:19] SPEAKER_02: Show us.
[45:20] SPEAKER_00: Show us right now.
[45:21] SPEAKER_00: Prove you haven't shaved them in the last 12 months.
[45:24] SPEAKER_01: Alright, move us on, Greg.
[45:27] SPEAKER_01: Mitch says, can we discuss Malachi getting professional photos for Kona dis despite not racing?
[45:33] SPEAKER_01: And we actually have a uh the on-ground story.
[45:36] SPEAKER_01: Apo and I are running down Alihi Drive this morning, and Tofer from Iron Man pulls up next to us and rolls down his window and is like, Yeah, we saw your boy uh Malachi yesterday, and he was looking, you know, lost.
[45:48] SPEAKER_01: He he call him, would he call him a puppy dog?
[45:50] SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he was a nice guy, and he's like, Hey, come on in.
[45:53] SPEAKER_01: And Malachi proceeds to do 30 straight minutes of video and photos with Iron Man, even though he's not even racing.
[46:01] SPEAKER_01: So the audacity, the the the brazen like look at me.
[46:06] SPEAKER_02: Why does he have his race kit?
[46:08] SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and he walks up to dinner with his fucking hot pink shirts with all his sponsors all that.
[46:14] SPEAKER_02: I'm like, brother, you're on the island, just fucking chill out, and it's like, I mean, he's young, right?
[46:20] SPEAKER_02: And it's I don't know, he's got a lot to learn.
[46:23] SPEAKER_02: Let's put it that way.
[46:24] SPEAKER_00: Look, I'll make this real simple.
[46:26] SPEAKER_00: Malachi fucking loves himself, and it's not like a fake, like doing it for gags.
[46:32] SPEAKER_00: Like, Malachi absolutely loves himself, and it's funny.
[46:35] SPEAKER_00: I love it.
[46:35] SPEAKER_00: I actually respect it.
[46:37] SPEAKER_00: I think not enough people have the confidence of a person like Malachi in life in general, but definitely, definitely not in this sport.
[46:43] SPEAKER_00: Malachi puts himself out there, he says whatever he wants, he has a laugh, and he deep down loves himself.
[46:50] SPEAKER_00: Nothing about it is fake.
[46:52] SPEAKER_00: So I I respect it.
[46:53] SPEAKER_00: Shout out, Malachi.
[46:54] SPEAKER_00: I love that you went and got those photos, and you were literally the only person on this entire island who isn't racing this weekend who went and got Iron Man professional photos.
[47:03] SPEAKER_00: It's brave.
[47:04] SPEAKER_00: Um, Sam says, and this isn't Sam Appleton, this is a different Sam.
[47:08] SPEAKER_00: Sam Long.
[47:09] SPEAKER_00: Apo needs some more bloody carbs, mate.
[47:12] SPEAKER_00: He's giving all the signs of a low carb brain fog, but we still need Malachi to double check if that pineapple is working first just to make sure.
[47:20] SPEAKER_00: Look, I can talk about this.
[47:22] SPEAKER_00: Apo has been in desperate needs of carbs, and after the podcast yesterday, it kind of got to a tipping point where me and Greg had to sit him down and be like, Look, we know you've been preparing for this race all year, Apo.
[47:33] SPEAKER_00: We know you've been trying to get as lean as you are for Dino 2019.
[47:37] SPEAKER_00: We know you're obsessed with how you look.
[47:39] SPEAKER_00: But that was embarrassing with the higher or lower thing on the podcast.
[47:43] SPEAKER_00: You made all of us look stupid.
[47:45] SPEAKER_00: Vicky's not here.
[47:46] SPEAKER_00: We're already lacking some serious IQ points with her not travelling to the island and selfishly choosing her family over us.
[47:53] SPEAKER_00: You need to carve up for the next 24 hours.
[47:55] SPEAKER_00: And he has.
[47:56] SPEAKER_00: And if you haven't noticed it today, he's been much smarter and sharper for it.
[47:59] SPEAKER_00: I mean, so the pod the Spotify comments, there was a it was divided.
[48:05] SPEAKER_02: There was mutiny in the po in the comments.
[48:09] SPEAKER_02: There was people agreeing, siding with me, saying I was confused, like the the commenter saying I was confused, not me, um, and they agree with me.
[48:18] SPEAKER_02: And there was other people on the other side of the fence saying that I've got the I've got less IQ thanks.
[48:23] SPEAKER_01: This is simple.
[48:24] SPEAKER_01: When there's a group of people and a room full of people, half of them are dummies, and the other half aren't.
[48:29] SPEAKER_01: And so you and all your minions are dummies.
[48:32] SPEAKER_02: Alright.
[48:32] SPEAKER_02: Trev Hawley, 45 minutes.
[48:34] SPEAKER_02: Fuck that.
[48:35] SPEAKER_02: I sit in an excavator or a dozer all day, and I've got time for two hour pods.
[48:39] SPEAKER_02: You fuckers are eating too much pineapple.
[48:42] SPEAKER_02: And Trev, I mean, let's just cut the French a little bit.
[48:45] SPEAKER_02: This is a family show.
[48:46] SPEAKER_02: Relax, Trev.
[48:48] SPEAKER_02: This is a family-friendly show, you fucker.
[48:51] SPEAKER_00: Yes, yes.
[48:52] SPEAKER_00: Trev, fuck you.
[48:54] SPEAKER_00: This is a family friendly show, you fucking idiot.
[48:57] SPEAKER_02: Um look, so we thought about longer pods, right?
[49:01] SPEAKER_02: But if we're doing daily pods, like the content just backs up and people don't have time to listen to two hours every single day.
[49:06] SPEAKER_02: So we wanted to keep them a bit more punchy, a bit more fun.
[49:09] SPEAKER_02: And um, yeah, we're eating a lot of pineapple.
[49:12] SPEAKER_02: I cut one up today.
[49:12] SPEAKER_02: It was a little bit rotten in the city.
[49:13] SPEAKER_01: Maybe focus on your job, dude.
[49:14] SPEAKER_01: He's like, he's in the heavy machinery and he's like listening to podcasts.
[49:18] SPEAKER_01: Like, yeah, maybe pop out of your ears, bro, and focus and they'll kill someone with that shovel.
[49:22] SPEAKER_00: The reason I feel so confident in calling Trev a fucking idiot is because if you have a job like that where you're working construction in an excavator all day, you're here and that with your boys all day.
[49:33] SPEAKER_00: Like, that's the kind of bloke you are.
[49:34] SPEAKER_00: And you're also the kind of bloke who, if you threaten to throw Apo into a bush at a pub, you would actually follow through with it.
[49:41] SPEAKER_00: So, Trev, don't come at us.
[49:42] SPEAKER_00: I'm a little bit scared of you, mate.
[49:44] SPEAKER_00: Um, Philip Niklich says, We need a Benjamin Zorg Notti update.
[49:48] SPEAKER_00: Is he protecting his winning streak against KB and Kona?
[49:51] SPEAKER_00: Philip, number one, he no longer has a winning streak over KB in general, but you're right, he does still have one in Kona.
[49:59] SPEAKER_00: So I do find it suspicious that he's shown up to other races against KB, but not at Kona.
[50:05] SPEAKER_00: Some people might speculate it's because his son's being born literally in three days.
[50:09] SPEAKER_00: Others might think he's scared.
[50:11] SPEAKER_00: I don't know, you be the judge of.
[50:15] SPEAKER_02: Alright, Ryan says, I I too was shocked at Jack height maxing Greg.
[50:20] SPEAKER_02: Jack did have those uh what are those Nike shoes that have like 80 millimeters of stack and Velmero premium?
[50:27] SPEAKER_02: So if Jack takes those off, he's only actually 5'7, but when he's got them on, he's 6'7.
[50:31] SPEAKER_02: So that's uh that's the uh that's the explanation for the uh height maxing.
[50:34] SPEAKER_01: 5'7 where it counts.
[50:36] SPEAKER_01: Roy says, Greg and Apple, please address the new on influencer, Jack.
[50:41] SPEAKER_01: The flip-flop of opinion of opinion is crazy.
[50:44] SPEAKER_01: He was really decked out in head to toe and on.
[50:47] SPEAKER_01: This guy's actually got a crazy amount of like high-end running gear, and I don't know where he gets it from or whatnot, but yeah, he literally was going on and on.
[50:56] SPEAKER_01: He's like, literally on and on, about on shoes.
[50:59] SPEAKER_01: And he's like, hey, why haven't you been in these?
[51:01] SPEAKER_01: I'm like, I don't know, you told me they sucked last week, so I'm confused.
[51:05] SPEAKER_02: Um, I brought this one up.
[51:07] SPEAKER_02: I alluded to it earlier before in the in the show, but uh this is quite funny because I agree, Lewis.
[51:13] SPEAKER_02: Greg, just try for once to disagree with Jack.
[51:16] SPEAKER_02: How many times do you use the phrase I completely agree with you, Jack?
[51:20] SPEAKER_01: We've been over this.
[51:21] SPEAKER_01: When an Australian speaks for me, something happens and I will do whatever they want.
[51:26] SPEAKER_01: Jack, Jack is convincing.
[51:27] SPEAKER_02: Look, I like he we're in doing these pods in person, right?
[51:32] SPEAKER_02: And you ask Jack a question and you're like pretty set on your opinion.
[51:36] SPEAKER_02: And then he stares into your eyes.
[51:37] SPEAKER_01: I just look down, and it's like, okay, stay firm, stay strong.
[51:41] SPEAKER_01: I'm l in my head, I'm like, stay strong, stay strong, don't agree.
[51:43] SPEAKER_01: And then I look up and I'm like, I love you.
[51:45] SPEAKER_01: It's crazy, dude.
[51:47] SPEAKER_00: Mappo, yesterday we were sitting on the couch not recording the podcast, and I said, Be honest, of everyone on the pod, who do you trust the most?
[51:54] SPEAKER_00: Tell the audience who you said.
[51:55] SPEAKER_02: Well, okay, to duck peel back the curtain a bit, I you asked me who would you trust with a like a big secret?
[52:01] SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
[52:02] SPEAKER_02: Everyone on the podcast.
[52:03] SPEAKER_02: And um I picked you, Jack.
[52:06] SPEAKER_02: Um, I think you're quite trustworthy.
[52:09] SPEAKER_02: And I know because I've tried to uh squeeze out some information from you in the past, and you've stayed firm, which I appreciate.
[52:17] SPEAKER_02: And yeah, I know I can trust you with um you know those secrets.
[52:22] SPEAKER_00: And who would you trust the least on the podcast?
[52:25] SPEAKER_02: Probably Greg.
[52:29] SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
[52:32] SPEAKER_02: No, no, it like probably Malachi, because I don't really know him that well.
[52:35] SPEAKER_02: Yeah, thank you.
[52:37] SPEAKER_02: You you're you're close.
[52:39] SPEAKER_02: Yep.
[52:39] SPEAKER_02: I reckon you're in the room.
[52:41] SPEAKER_00: You're very close behind Malachi.
[52:43] SPEAKER_00: Trevor said, I bet Malachi was in the room for this one, yet his wifi was so shitty that somehow we still couldn't hear him.
[52:51] SPEAKER_00: I just thought that was funny.
[52:52] SPEAKER_00: I don't have anything to say, but good comment, Trevor.
[52:54] SPEAKER_00: And I'll finish us off.
[52:55] SPEAKER_00: Philippe says after yesterday's podcast, after listening to this episode, this show is now lower on my favourite list.
[53:04] SPEAKER_00: I don't know if that's good or bad.
[53:06] SPEAKER_00: And we've confused ourselves so much, Philippe, that we now no longer know whether you hate us or whether you're just joking, and that's your way of telling us that after yesterday's episode you like us more than ever, and we're your favourite podcast.
[53:18] SPEAKER_00: It's like Apo has matrixed or inception into our mind that maybe lower is higher and higher is lower, and we no longer have any idea what any of it means.
[53:30] SPEAKER_02: Well, you know what, Philippe?
[53:31] SPEAKER_02: If I ranked everyone who listens to this podcast highest to lowest, you would be the lowest.
[53:41] SPEAKER_00: In my mind, that means he hates you, but I think in his mind that means he loves you, Philippe.
[53:45] SPEAKER_00: I have no idea.
[53:45] SPEAKER_00: I bet you're as confused as all of us.
[53:47] SPEAKER_00: That's day three of the Kona Daily Pods, done and dusted.
[53:51] SPEAKER_00: Again, a little bit of a shorter one, so sorry about that, Trev.
[53:54] SPEAKER_00: Please don't come and bash me, Apo, or Greg.
[53:56] SPEAKER_00: Like I said, we are a little bit scared of you.
[53:58] SPEAKER_00: Also, remember about that Spotify comment when it comes to the Spotify video.
[54:02] SPEAKER_00: If you want that, go and be a part of that.
[54:04] SPEAKER_00: If not, leave your own Spotify comment on today's podcast.
[54:08] SPEAKER_00: We'll try not to repeat anyone unless they leave a really good comment.
[54:11] SPEAKER_00: So if you didn't get yours read out today, leave it again on this episode and we'll try and get to it tomorrow.
[54:16] SPEAKER_00: We have so much fun interacting with you guys on the Spotify comments on these daily podcasts.
[54:20] SPEAKER_00: Day three, Greg, Apo, and not Vicky.
[54:24] SPEAKER_00: Jesus, I hate you, Vicky.
[54:25] SPEAKER_00: We'll do it all again.
[54:26] SPEAKER_00: Day four of the Kona Daily Pods.
[54:29] SPEAKER_00: Later.
[54:29] SPEAKER_02: Bye.
