[0:27] SPEAKER_03: Yes, pretenders, we are back.
[0:30] SPEAKER_03: It's our fourth and final daily podcast leading into the Iron Man 70.3 World Championships this weekend in sunny Marbella, Spain.
[0:39] SPEAKER_03: And just as always, I'm joined by the most opinionated man in triathlon, the boldest man in triathlon, the girliest movie taste in triathlon, Greg Harper.
[0:48] SPEAKER_00: Thanks, Shaq.
[0:48] SPEAKER_00: I appreciate that.
[0:49] SPEAKER_00: And yeah, actually, I don't have a response that's positive about that movie thing.
[0:54] SPEAKER_00: So uh let's just keep the intro going.
[0:56] SPEAKER_03: Exactly.
[0:56] SPEAKER_03: We're not a sexist podcast here, Greg Well said.
[0:59] SPEAKER_03: And as always, I'm joined by the second greatest triathlete of all time, the 20-time 70.3 champion, the occasionally grumpy before we start recording, Sam Appleton.
[1:09] SPEAKER_01: I just actually let out a sigh of relief when you said the day four and final of the daily pods.
[1:15] SPEAKER_01: I was worried you were going to bring us in for another day tomorrow, but uh no.
[1:18] SPEAKER_01: Just kidding.
[1:19] SPEAKER_01: Happy to be here, stoked to talk about the race and some other goings on.
[1:24] SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
[1:25] SPEAKER_03: Well, it's been another big week.
[1:26] SPEAKER_03: These daily pod, they they take it out of you though, don't they?
[1:29] SPEAKER_03: Having a back up day after day.
[1:30] SPEAKER_03: They are actually hard.
[1:31] SPEAKER_03: Like, I know people like, well, you sitting there in front of a microphone talking about TriFon for an hour.
[1:35] SPEAKER_03: It's not that hard.
[1:36] SPEAKER_03: But it's bloody hard to get like back it up day after day and come up with things to talk about.
[1:40] SPEAKER_00: Yeah, Apple and I are just grinding, coming up with all the content ideas, filling out the organization of the episode.
[1:46] SPEAKER_00: And yeah, so it's it's really tough for us.
[1:48] SPEAKER_00: Like we do we do a lot of heavy lifting around here.
[1:51] SPEAKER_03: This is this is just some absolute bullshit to start the podcast.
[1:54] SPEAKER_03: Okay, so I'm no, I'm not even I'm not biting.
[1:57] SPEAKER_03: That's what yeah, you nearly have me there, Greg.
[1:59] SPEAKER_03: You like you you found the perfect bait.
[2:01] SPEAKER_03: You I was there, I was just about to bite, but I'm not.
[2:04] SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna move into our first topic of the day.
[2:06] SPEAKER_03: And this is a bit of a spooky topic, and like I'm here, I'm in Mar Baya for the 70.3 World Championships, and no one's really talking about this, but there's some crazy shit going on in Mar Baya.
[2:19] SPEAKER_03: Okay, boys, so the swim course.
[2:22] SPEAKER_03: The swim course, there's a little place called Millionaires Bay, and it's where all the rich yachts are, and it's where the swim course is.
[2:29] SPEAKER_03: And the other day, it was on Monday or Sunday, this boat pulled up to Millionaires Bay, it dropped a body off the side of the water in broad daylight, and all the onlookers on like the so on the shoreline, they saw it, and then it just sped off, and there was just this dead body floating in the water, literally where the Iron Man 70.3 swim course is going to be this weekend.
[2:55] SPEAKER_03: And I've just been running past it every day.
[2:56] SPEAKER_03: I've been talking to everyone, I haven't heard anyone talk about it, and it's all over the news.
[3:00] SPEAKER_03: So I don't know whether we're just like the triathletes don't watch the news or whatever, but there was literally a dead body dumped by maybe like the cartel or whatever in the swim course a few days ago.
[3:11] SPEAKER_01: Um that's I'm that's alarming.
[3:14] SPEAKER_01: I mean, you put this in the show notes, Jack, and I didn't even want you to like brief us on uh on what this was about.
[3:20] SPEAKER_01: I just wanted to hear it live on the podcast and give my reaction, and yeah, just crazy.
[3:26] SPEAKER_01: My wife's flying over there for a girl's trip to Marbella, and uh, you know, maybe I'll tell her to to turn that plane around.
[3:33] SPEAKER_03: Yeah, well, I was running out on the trails today, Apo, and I one of the deaths was out like near where I was running, and I literally got out there and was like, hang on, this is near where a dead body was found.
[3:44] SPEAKER_03: Because here's like the twist it wasn't just the one body, there's actually a like a string of murder mysteries going on in Mar Baya right now, and where one of the bodies was, I wasn't that far off, and I'm like, holy fuck, I'm turning around, like I was completely isolated.
[3:58] SPEAKER_03: There was a burnt-out car on the side of the road.
[3:59] SPEAKER_03: I'm like, I'm getting out of here.
[4:01] SPEAKER_03: And I'll just read what was in the newspaper for you guys, okay?
[4:04] SPEAKER_03: So this is this is verbatim taken from the newspaper about the murder mysteries in Mar Baya.
[4:10] SPEAKER_03: In one of the most chilling scenes witnessed in Mar Baya's Millionaire Marina, a suspected narco speedboat pulled up to the mouth of Portabanis, which is where the swim is, hurled a corpse onto the quay, and tore off into open sea.
[4:26] SPEAKER_03: The Brazen Daylight Act left witnesses frozen in disbelief as the vessel, believed to be linked to a drug smuggling gang, vanished past the breakwater.
[4:35] SPEAKER_03: Emergency services rushed to the port after several horrified onlookers raised the alarm just after eleven AM on Monday.
[4:42] SPEAKER_03: Medics fought to revive the victim, but could only certify death at the scene.
[4:47] SPEAKER_03: The body, described as that of a young man, showed no visible bullet wounds or other obvious signs of violence, according to initial police assessments.
[4:56] SPEAKER_03: It was then taken to the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Malaga, where a post-mortem will determine how and when he died.
[5:03] SPEAKER_03: Investigators say all lines remain open.
[5:06] SPEAKER_03: Early theories include a narco-related revenge killing, a smuggler left for dead after a dispute, or a grisly warning from one trafficking clan to another.
[5:16] SPEAKER_03: For now, neither the victim nor the boat has been identified.
[5:19] SPEAKER_03: The Guardia Seville has taken charge of the investigation, drawing on its maritime units to search nearby waters and security cameras around the port for any trace of the craft.
[5:28] SPEAKER_03: It's crazy.
[5:29] SPEAKER_03: And then it goes on to say that there's four incidents this week.
[5:32] SPEAKER_03: So on Sunday evening, a body was discovered with multiple injuries on a dirt track near Alpandia, north of Ronda, which is just north of where we are.
[5:42] SPEAKER_03: And the following day, another corpse was seen being dumped into the water.
[5:46] SPEAKER_03: So that's the one that just happened.
[5:47] SPEAKER_03: And then a man was found inside a car in Marbella with a gunshot wound to his leg in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
[5:55] SPEAKER_03: Um, and the the police came across a suspicious vehicle in in a residential area shortly after midnight, and there was two people inside of it.
[6:04] SPEAKER_03: One of it was the guy who'd been shot.
[6:06] SPEAKER_03: And then, like, they're trying to they're trying to determine whether they're all like related, whether there's like an actual gang war happening in Marbella as we speak, because it follows on from another gun attack in Marbella last month when a man fired seven shots through the door of an acquaintance's flat on the Cali Roy Boston, grazing the victim's leg before fleeing to Al Jacaris, where he was arrested.
[6:29] SPEAKER_03: It's crazy, and no one's talking about this.
[6:32] SPEAKER_03: We're just all here doing a 70.3.
[6:34] SPEAKER_01: Man, it's it's crazy the lengths that Christian Blumenfeld has gone to to tie up this pro series win.
[6:41] SPEAKER_01: I know, I know his motto is it hurts more to lose, but uh but Christian, come on.
[6:46] SPEAKER_01: There's other ways.
[6:47] SPEAKER_00: No, tomorrow's headline's gonna be like woman kills male triathlete who tricks his family into a vacation, but it's just another goddamn race.
[6:59] SPEAKER_03: Triathlon podcaster found dead after lifting the lid on on gangland activity.
[7:04] SPEAKER_01: Yeah, Jack, you need to uh you need to be careful.
[7:07] SPEAKER_01: You're becoming like a whistleblower.
[7:09] SPEAKER_01: They're gonna be out for you.
[7:10] SPEAKER_03: I mean, I took it from the the literal newspaper.
[7:15] SPEAKER_03: It's hardly inside info.
[7:16] SPEAKER_03: But how crazy is that?
[7:18] SPEAKER_03: Like, that is insane.
[7:19] SPEAKER_03: Like it's not like it's just happening 30 minutes away.
[7:22] SPEAKER_03: It was literally in the swim course.
[7:24] SPEAKER_01: Imagine swimming through that swim course, and you know when you're in a triflon and you get like a bit of seaweed or something, you freak out.
[7:31] SPEAKER_01: Imagine it's like just grabbing hold of a body or something.
[7:35] SPEAKER_03: Oh, yeah.
[7:37] SPEAKER_03: Anyway, we can move on, but I just thought, like, I'm just gonna put that out there that that's happening in Mabea right now, and we're all not talking about everyone's just talking about super shoes and running on the side of that beach with their shirt off, looking good and running way too fast.
[7:50] SPEAKER_03: But there's some crazy shit going on here.
[7:52] SPEAKER_03: Um, given that this is our last of the daily podcast before the races start this weekend.
[7:58] SPEAKER_03: We thought we'd give you our final prediction.
[8:00] SPEAKER_03: So I'll start us off, and we'll start off with the men's race and then do the women's race.
[8:04] SPEAKER_03: So for the men's podium, coming in in third, I have Greg's biggest crush in triathlon, Jonas Schomberg.
[8:12] SPEAKER_03: In second, I have Christian Blumenfeld, and in first, I have the greatest triflete on the planet right now, Yala Gines.
[8:20] SPEAKER_01: I thought Lionel Sanders was the greatest triathlete, and I was number two.
[8:24] SPEAKER_01: No, it's Matt Hauser.
[8:25] SPEAKER_03: No, Lionel's the greatest of all time.
[8:27] SPEAKER_03: Sam Appleton's the second greatest of all time because only North American triathlons count.
[8:32] SPEAKER_01: All right, I'll go next.
[8:33] SPEAKER_01: So um I think there's gonna be like a surprise on the podium, someone that nobody is picking.
[8:38] SPEAKER_01: And I was tossing up a few names here, but I decided on one, and it is a bit of a swing, but I'm gonna go in third place, Seth Ryder.
[8:48] SPEAKER_01: I think he's he'll he'll be up there, he'll be one of the first out of the water.
[8:51] SPEAKER_01: He climbs well, he's got good power to wait.
[8:54] SPEAKER_01: He raced raced in Oceanside.
[8:56] SPEAKER_01: I raced him there, and he was riding really strong, and he was looking pretty good to even win Oceanside up until with a few K to go.
[9:04] SPEAKER_01: So I think Seth's honed his skills a little bit, and he's gonna have a breakout race.
[9:08] SPEAKER_01: In second, I've got Yellow Geans.
[9:10] SPEAKER_01: Um for no other reason than I think Christian is just gonna win.
[9:15] SPEAKER_01: He's uh I think he's just really hungry for a world title.
[9:19] SPEAKER_01: He was disappointed after Nice, he wants redemption, and I think he's gonna take the win.
[9:23] SPEAKER_01: Probably not.
[9:24] SPEAKER_01: Alright.
[9:25] SPEAKER_00: Um, third place, I'm going Rico Bogan.
[9:29] SPEAKER_00: Now, I think it was Vicky who said maybe he might struggle on this course or predicted an off day yesterday, but I just think the bike course, he's just gonna ride it so well, and uh, he's gonna have gaps on a lot of the field that if he just runs solid, he should be on the podium.
[9:44] SPEAKER_00: So that's my thought.
[9:45] SPEAKER_00: Number two, I'm going with my boy.
[9:47] SPEAKER_00: I've gotten texted pictures of athletes with this gentleman, Jonas Schoenberg.
[9:52] SPEAKER_00: He looks lean, he's a machine, he looks happy, and I think he's gonna ride his way into second place and run his run his way to second place.
[10:01] SPEAKER_00: And uh yeah, Yellow Gaines, I'm going first.
[10:04] SPEAKER_00: He's defending champ.
[10:05] SPEAKER_00: I think the power to wait, and just he's pretty much the best runner off a hard bike in the field, too.
[10:12] SPEAKER_00: So he's gonna he's my favorite for the win.
[10:14] SPEAKER_01: I saw something pop up yesterday that Jonas eats baguettes and ham every single day.
[10:22] SPEAKER_01: And that's just all he eats for dinner.
[10:23] SPEAKER_01: Baguette and ham.
[10:25] SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
[10:26] SPEAKER_01: That is absolute insanity.
[10:29] SPEAKER_03: I was being told, I was getting told like some funny stories about Jonas the other day, Apo.
[10:33] SPEAKER_03: So these people, well-known pros who are very good swimmers, did a swim session with him or have swam with him multiple times, and every time they would swim with him, that he couldn't do the session rhythm because it was always just too easy for him.
[10:46] SPEAKER_03: And so they would do like, say they were doing hundreds, right?
[10:49] SPEAKER_03: Let's say they would do this is exactly how they described it.
[10:52] SPEAKER_03: Say they would do 20 by 100.
[10:54] SPEAKER_03: What Jonas would do is do one max, like they'd be doing them threshold, leaving on 110 or whatever.
[11:00] SPEAKER_03: Jonas, instead of doing that rhythm, would do one like full-blown VO2, try and swim a PB max, and then one threshold where he'd swim with them, and then one like full blown VO2, and he just does stuff like this all of the time, and then they'll get out early and he'll keep swimming for like 7k, and he does this every time they swim with him, and then exactly what you just talked about.
[11:20] SPEAKER_03: He gets out and he just eats all the carbs, and then he goes out and does a long ride, and then comes back home, eats all the carbs, goes back out and just like runs an hour and a half every day, and this is just what he does.
[11:31] SPEAKER_03: And I'm like, Yeah, yeah, you're just exaggerating though, and they're like, No, he literally just does this every day.
[11:38] SPEAKER_00: I've heard similar stories, like he just actually trains the house.
[11:41] SPEAKER_00: You know, there's like, oh, I train 30 hours a week.
[11:43] SPEAKER_00: It's like, no, this guy literally trains all day, every day.
[11:46] SPEAKER_00: And I've heard the same thing, he just uh I just have a stress defracture, but I just kind of trained through it.
[11:51] SPEAKER_00: The the David Goggins method, so uh yeah, dude.
[11:54] SPEAKER_00: No wonder why he's like a so good at Iron Man right off the start.
[11:58] SPEAKER_00: I mean, he he's just uh he's a good trainer.
[12:01] SPEAKER_00: T1 extraordinaire.
[12:03] SPEAKER_03: And I'll I'll call this guy out, he won't mind sharing a story.
[12:05] SPEAKER_03: But Fred Funk was telling me how the and he wasn't one of the ones who was telling me the other stories, but Fred was saying that he had an Achilles injury, and instead of just doing what most people would do, he just trained through it.
[12:16] SPEAKER_03: Just full goggins that he's like, it will go away.
[12:18] SPEAKER_03: If I just keep training, it will go away.
[12:20] SPEAKER_03: So he's clearly a hard unit.
[12:22] SPEAKER_03: Um, boys, we also said that we were gonna pick a fourth place or like a dark horse.
[12:26] SPEAKER_03: Um, I'll start us off.
[12:28] SPEAKER_03: I've gone with Australia's own Nick Thompson.
[12:30] SPEAKER_01: Fourth place dark horse for me.
[12:32] SPEAKER_01: Uh, this was another person I wrestled with, a bit of an unknown for the podium, but it's Taylor Reed from New Zealand.
[12:39] SPEAKER_00: Just to be clear, Apple only got that idea from a Spotify comment.
[12:44] SPEAKER_02: It's true.
[12:45] SPEAKER_02: It's true.
[12:48] SPEAKER_00: Literally didn't even know who he was until uh the Spotify comment.
[12:51] SPEAKER_00: Okay, anyway, anyway.
[12:53] SPEAKER_00: Um I'm going for North American hero Jackson Laundry.
[12:57] SPEAKER_00: Been training with the Norwegians, they probably over-trained, he kept it where it needs to be, and he's gonna flourish on race day.
[13:03] SPEAKER_03: So much to talk about from all of this.
[13:05] SPEAKER_03: But firstly, Greg, you can't be throwing Apo under the bus like that.
[13:11] SPEAKER_00: I'm prepared to read it later, so everyone's gonna realize.
[13:17] SPEAKER_03: Apo's like, I've come up with a clever one here.
[13:20] SPEAKER_03: Like, this is this is my own opinion.
[13:22] SPEAKER_03: You guys hadn't thought of this.
[13:24] SPEAKER_03: He was trying to fool everyone, and you just didn't let him get away with it.
[13:27] SPEAKER_03: And Seth Ryder, Apo, I think that like that's a crazy call.
[13:32] SPEAKER_03: I think that's crazy.
[13:34] SPEAKER_03: Like, I think Taylor Reed is a is a better dark horse podium.
[13:37] SPEAKER_03: Like Seth Ryder third, that's crazy.
[13:40] SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I mean, I just think there's gonna be I think the podium is gonna be two not well-known athletes.
[13:46] SPEAKER_01: That's why I picked um Christian and Yeller.
[13:48] SPEAKER_01: And then I think I was tossing up a few people, uh, like Fabian Kraft was in there, he's he's been having a great season.
[13:55] SPEAKER_01: Um, yeah, like I said, Taylor Reed, South Ryder.
[13:58] SPEAKER_01: I think it's gonna be an unknown um somebody that's coming from that WTCS background that's gonna unleash like a really quick run that has the bike um skills and strength to hang with those leaders.
[14:10] SPEAKER_01: So yeah, it's it's wild, but uh you know, I kind of like swinging for the fences.
[14:15] SPEAKER_03: No, I like that concept because I think there's a lot of good like athletes in that category that just like you talked about, that coming up from short course.
[14:23] SPEAKER_03: We don't quite know them as a household name yet, but they ride, they they swim front pack and then they ride pretty solid and they run very solid.
[14:30] SPEAKER_03: I think there's a huge chance.
[14:31] SPEAKER_03: I just think Seth Ride is a crazy call.
[14:33] SPEAKER_03: Um, and then Greg, I mean Rico Bogan for third, like you you just disagree with Vicky.
[14:39] SPEAKER_03: You you don't think that this bike course is wrong for him?
[14:41] SPEAKER_00: Well, there is that TT section, and yeah, she talked about the short punchy hills of of SF and how it's different than this course, but you know, he's just gonna push big power up the climb.
[14:53] SPEAKER_00: He's still gonna move well, and he seems to still move well on climbs.
[14:56] SPEAKER_00: So I think he I don't think there's that many guys.
[14:58] SPEAKER_00: Like Yellow's not dropping Rico up climbs, and then they get on the flat section.
[15:02] SPEAKER_00: I just think there's a world where Rico is one of five guys who has a quite a bit of time potentially on the rest of the field, and then he just runs I run solid, I ran 112 mid, 113, and somehow holds on for third.
[15:16] SPEAKER_00: So that's kind of my thought on that.
[15:18] SPEAKER_00: I I mentioned one other, I'll just throw it out there, could Cracciani, because we we've talked about him a bit, and maybe his bike has a question mark, but I would say that's a better like WTTS like dark horse pick than uh maybe Seth Ryder.
[15:31] SPEAKER_01: But uh and speaking of your dark horse, uh, Greg, Jackson Laundry, that's a pretty, you know, I know you guys are teammates on RTS, but that's a that's a big call.
[15:41] SPEAKER_01: Um Jackson, he was was he fourth in 2021 at St.
[15:46] SPEAKER_01: George?
[15:46] SPEAKER_01: I know he had a great race there, and he's definitely had some awesome results.
[15:51] SPEAKER_01: I know this year he struggled with a bit of injury.
[15:53] SPEAKER_01: Do you have some insight into how um Jackson's going at the moment?
[15:57] SPEAKER_00: I think his run has come further along than he had thought in the last month or so.
[16:04] SPEAKER_00: And I just think it's one of those strong man bike courses too.
[16:07] SPEAKER_00: And Jackson's arrow for sure, he can still he's actually like smaller and lighter than you might think.
[16:13] SPEAKER_00: And I think he's gonna climb well.
[16:14] SPEAKER_00: And same thing, if he can just run solid, I think he can be up there.
[16:18] SPEAKER_00: And I know he's been really working on a swim too, so I'm hoping he's in that like fringe back, front pack.
[16:25] SPEAKER_00: You know, I come out 20th place a minute type back situation.
[16:29] SPEAKER_00: So that's my thought on that.
[16:30] SPEAKER_00: They're all stretches, I guess, but like I said, predicting that like fourth through 10th is always super hard at these races.
[16:38] SPEAKER_00: Um and yeah, I guess now let's let's put Jack on the not on the hot seat, but just going with the local hometown Australian, huh?
[16:47] SPEAKER_00: Nick Thompson for fourth.
[16:48] SPEAKER_00: I don't know, I have questions about how far he's gonna be back in the swim and if he can really catch back up to the front.
[16:53] SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I just think that the swim is everything for Nick as well, Greg.
[16:56] SPEAKER_03: Like, can he be there with like a Gustav Eden, Kasper Stoyners, Christian Blumenfeld type?
[17:01] SPEAKER_03: Like, I just think that this swim will it will be one of those swims where it's just a long single file line and like, yeah, okay, you can come out of the water 25th or whatever where where Nick probably will, but it won't be that far back.
[17:16] SPEAKER_03: And if you have a good T1, you'll actually just have a string of people 12 metres apart on the bike to work up to.
[17:22] SPEAKER_03: Now, Jonas is going to be there, so it might take Nick a little bit of work to get back up.
[17:26] SPEAKER_03: But the climb starts really early, so it's this climb that just perfectly suits suits Nick Thompson.
[17:32] SPEAKER_03: And I think on that first climb, he'll get pretty close up to the front of the race, maybe not to like Schomburg and and Riddle, but pretty close.
[17:41] SPEAKER_03: And I I think what you'll see is if you're watching either the live stream or the tracker, you'll notice that Nick Thompson comes out of the water in a position where you're like, oh, that's a bit scary.
[17:51] SPEAKER_03: But by the 10k mark on the tracker, he he will have moved up a lot and had one of the fastest times to that 10k mark.
[17:58] SPEAKER_03: So I think he can ride himself into a good position.
[18:00] SPEAKER_03: But I've seen him ride enough now to know that he's a ballsy bastard on the bike, so he'll take risks.
[18:05] SPEAKER_03: And on this, like there's like the climb, and then you do like this descent and then you climb again.
[18:10] SPEAKER_03: That little descent on itself is steep and technical.
[18:14] SPEAKER_03: I reckon he can make up like a heap of time there, and then like keep that momentum up the second part of the climb.
[18:20] SPEAKER_03: And then on the out and back TT section, he'll like he'll be in the race by then.
[18:24] SPEAKER_03: And I just think like he's kind of the guy who's a bit uh who's a bit willing to take a risk, and then the run-in descent on the way home.
[18:33] SPEAKER_03: I think he's the kind of guy who could try and split things up and just get himself into a position where he just needs to have a solid run to finish on the podium or finish fourth or fifth.
[18:42] SPEAKER_03: Uh, and I do back him to do that.
[18:44] SPEAKER_03: So I I don't really see a world where the great the race doesn't play out for him like that.
[18:49] SPEAKER_03: That's why I think he's like a real chance to finish around the fourth.
[18:52] SPEAKER_00: I mean, he's gone to the front of every single race all year, right?
[18:55] SPEAKER_00: I mean, even at the Iron Man World Championship.
[18:58] SPEAKER_00: So yeah, no, that's uh I hope so.
[19:00] SPEAKER_00: You know, it's all it's it's fun for the fans and the athletes when someone comes from behind and just like charges to the field.
[19:06] SPEAKER_00: So uh all his fans will be commenting diligently on the YouTube stream that uh they're gonna be.
[19:13] SPEAKER_01: Oh god, they will, won't they?
[19:14] SPEAKER_01: Dog and squad.
[19:15] SPEAKER_01: I swear that's one person managing like 30 accounts.
[19:19] SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
[19:20] SPEAKER_03: Well, like what I picture is that it's like despicable me.
[19:23] SPEAKER_03: He just like he has like this little group of Perth minions, and they're all like this bloke who dresses the same and look the same.
[19:29] SPEAKER_03: Um, I think his swimming actually isn't as bad as what it once was, as well.
[19:32] SPEAKER_03: It's it's it's greatly improved.
[19:33] SPEAKER_03: And now the women's race, so I'll give my podium first.
[19:37] SPEAKER_03: In third place, I have Kat Matthews, in second place, Lucy Charles Barclay, and in first place, Taylor Nib.
[19:44] SPEAKER_01: Good picks.
[19:45] SPEAKER_01: Um again, I kind of use the same uh methodology as I had for the men.
[19:51] SPEAKER_01: So I think two favorites and then someone not unknown, but a little bit of an outside shot.
[19:56] SPEAKER_01: So I've got third place Jess Liamonth.
[19:58] SPEAKER_01: She's shown this year in T100 that this middle distance um racing really, really suits her.
[20:05] SPEAKER_01: She's gonna be up the front in the swim.
[20:07] SPEAKER_01: She's shown that she's one of the best on the bike, and I think if she's running well, she can definitely hang on for a podium.
[20:13] SPEAKER_01: I've gone Kat Matthews in second again.
[20:16] SPEAKER_01: Sorry, Kat.
[20:16] SPEAKER_01: I just think another bridesmaid for you.
[20:19] SPEAKER_01: And first place, same as you, Jack.
[20:21] SPEAKER_00: Taylor nib.
[20:22] SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I like the Learmonth shout.
[20:24] SPEAKER_00: Yeah, okay.
[20:25] SPEAKER_00: So similar methodology for my picks, but for third, I'm going Marjolaine Pierre.
[20:30] SPEAKER_00: I mean, we saw her ride crazy good for a little while in Kona, right?
[20:35] SPEAKER_00: She was the fastest mover with her 30k.
[20:37] SPEAKER_00: And as Jack has said before, she's such a good climber.
[20:42] SPEAKER_00: Like she she crushes courses like this.
[20:44] SPEAKER_00: So uh looking for her to go well.
[20:46] SPEAKER_00: Second, going Kat Matthews, and first, T Nib, friend of the show.
[20:50] SPEAKER_01: No uh no Lucy Charles for you or me, Greg.
[20:53] SPEAKER_01: What was your thinking there?
[20:55] SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
[20:56] SPEAKER_00: It just some one of them has to not do well, kind of the cat taylor Lucy, right?
[21:01] SPEAKER_00: I mean, I feel like one of them won't be on the podium, and it just, yeah, Lucy was was my pick for that.
[21:06] SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
[21:07] SPEAKER_00: I don't really know why, considering she's kind of been on the best middle distance form out of anyone all year.
[21:12] SPEAKER_01: Yeah, she was racing so good a few months ago at that T100 distance, and that form, I don't know, like I could be completely wrong here, but that form, like balancing on the knife's edge, that's a long time to be at the peak.
[21:26] SPEAKER_01: And I just think maybe she might have, you know, mistimed that and been and is over her peak at the moment.
[21:33] SPEAKER_01: So I don't know, I could be completely wrong, but that was kind of my reasoning.
[21:36] SPEAKER_03: I've got her in second because I just back her in.
[21:38] SPEAKER_03: I mean, she raced T 100, she then had like a two week taper, she did Kona.
[21:43] SPEAKER_03: Sure, she went to the well, but like it wasn't at 39k into the marathon.
[21:48] SPEAKER_03: And so if if I'm thinking that Taylor's gonna win, I can't think that Lucy's not gonna have a good day because she's got the same coach, so they've clearly done the exact same protocol since then.
[21:58] SPEAKER_03: And so I can't put one in and not have the other.
[22:01] SPEAKER_03: That doesn't make sense because I just think a fit and healthy Lucy Charles Barclay podiums this race 10 out of 10 times.
[22:08] SPEAKER_03: So it's kind of like if I if I use that logic, it's like just insane to leave her off.
[22:12] SPEAKER_03: Like I think, yeah, I don't I don't know.
[22:14] SPEAKER_03: I just think that I just think that she will be pretty fit.
[22:17] SPEAKER_03: I think she's probably pretty refreshed the little the little break that she's had after that incident Kona probably helped her.
[22:23] SPEAKER_03: And I don't think she'll be as cooked as you think and you know she's going to be there at the front of the race.
[22:27] SPEAKER_03: So at some point in the run we're going to be thinking okay Lucy can podium here.
[22:31] SPEAKER_03: It's just does she hold on or not?
[22:33] SPEAKER_01: All very valid points and uh Greg and I are probably going to look like idiots.
[22:36] SPEAKER_03: I'm picking her to win now so um but there is also a world where Taylor and Lucy have bad days right like that's unavoidable to talk about like there is a day where they're just both cooked and they get on the bike and they can't push pair and they're like holy fuck why did we come here?
[22:52] SPEAKER_03: And then that opens everything up.
[22:53] SPEAKER_03: That means Solvig comes into play Cat Matthews comes into play Jess Liamonth Paula Finlay like if Taylor and Lucy are cooked and they're having bad days on the bike the women's race explodes and it becomes full of opportunity for everyone in the field.
[23:09] SPEAKER_03: I think we all know by now that fueling your training and racing has become such a massive part of getting the most out of yourself as an athlete and if you're someone who doesn't realize that or knows it but still does a lot of faster training or just wings your day-to-day training nutrition or even worse your racing nutrition then you need to stop doing that.
[23:27] SPEAKER_03: And the best way for you to fuel your training and racing is using precision, fuel and hydration.
[23:32] SPEAKER_03: Precision's PF90, PF30, PF30 caffeine and flow gel are the best gels on the market.
[23:38] SPEAKER_03: They taste great their texture is incredible unlike almost every other gel I've used.
[23:42] SPEAKER_03: And the packaging they come in is just so easy to use which is low key a huge benefit.
[23:47] SPEAKER_03: They also have energy chews which are a nice mix up from gels and honestly probably taste even better than gels.
[23:53] SPEAKER_03: They're really easy to use on the bike or out on a long run.
[23:56] SPEAKER_03: They're just a great mix up they also have a carbohydrate drink mix which is great to use on the bike or if you've got someone riding next to you while you do a long run or just to have on pool deck while you swim.
[24:06] SPEAKER_03: It's an awesome option for that.
[24:08] SPEAKER_03: Precision they just make the best training and racing nutrition on the market.
[24:12] SPEAKER_03: There's not even a close second in my opinion.
[24:14] SPEAKER_03: So if you're using other brands at least give precision a try because I think you'll like them more and you'll realize why they're literally taking over the triathlon fueling market.
[24:23] SPEAKER_03: It's not because they spend a heap of dollars marketing because they really don't compared to some other big brands it's just because their stuff is the best so try it for yourself head over to Precision Fuel and Hydration's website and use the discount code TTH25 for 15% off your first order.
[24:41] SPEAKER_00: Who do we think is going to be that dark horse?
[24:43] SPEAKER_00: Who's going to get that fourth spot?
[24:44] SPEAKER_00: I mean Jack you just mentioned Solvig, Paula.
[24:48] SPEAKER_03: Yeah Solvig the glove loft set for me for sure.
[24:51] SPEAKER_03: This bike course like I I know we're we're thinking she's not as good at 70.3 but this bike course is the 70.3 bike course for her she's going to be consistent.
[25:00] SPEAKER_03: She's not going to have a bad swim bike or run.
[25:02] SPEAKER_03: I think she'll have a great bike and a and a pretty solid and consistent swim and run enough to finish about fourth.
[25:10] SPEAKER_01: For mine I've gone Paula Finlay for fourth place.
[25:13] SPEAKER_01: I would love for Paula to win um she's definitely my heart pick but she's been a little bit injured right um so she's probably riding really well it's just a bit of a question mark over that run.
[25:25] SPEAKER_01: But yeah I would love to see Paula up there and I think fourth place is where I have her.
[25:30] SPEAKER_00: I'm going Georgia Taylor Brown uh holding it down for the ITU women out there the most competitive racing in the world the World Triathlon Championship series and she's an Olympic medalist so I think with two months of no racing and like maybe she honed in a little bit I I see a world where she holds on a little bit and I guess Vic Vicky had some insight.
[25:51] SPEAKER_00: I guess nutrition was kind of holding her back a bit so hopefully she kind of got that figured out and uh you know she's raced well in the heat and stuff before so uh yeah that's my pick for for the dark horse or we'll who'll be about fourth place in the race.
[26:04] SPEAKER_03: I will say the weather here is actually super mild.
[26:08] SPEAKER_03: Like it's super mild for what it could be here.
[26:10] SPEAKER_03: I I don't expect the weather to play much of a factor at all.
[26:14] SPEAKER_03: So everyone who's gone and done all the heat prep they will find this race borderline cold I reckon and and especially at the start of the race maybe for the last 10k on the run it might get up to like 20 degrees Celsius max but oh yeah I don't expect weather to to be a big factor which is another reason why I'm kind of confident in backing Taylor and Lucy.
[26:32] SPEAKER_03: I don't think we're going to see any big heat blow ups or anything like that.
[26:36] SPEAKER_00: Okay let's move on to probably the hardest part of this who do you boys think has the most to lose yeah my reasonings are simple for a man and woman I'm going yellow gaines and Taylor nib I mean they're defending champions it's their title and uh everyone's looking to take that title away from them so they have the most to lose.
[26:57] SPEAKER_01: I've got Christian Blumenfeld for the men um mainly because just his pro series he's winning the pro series and he's pretty much like got that tied up right but if something happens mechanical crash or something then that's a lot of money down the drain.
[27:13] SPEAKER_01: And he also doesn't have a world title yet despite probably being the best middle distance and Ironman racer over the last few years.
[27:23] SPEAKER_01: Greg, you don't agree?
[27:24] SPEAKER_00: St.
[27:25] SPEAKER_00: George?
[27:25] SPEAKER_00: Oh Mickey Mouse St.
[27:26] SPEAKER_00: George 2021 I get it I see I see that oh that's right.
[27:30] SPEAKER_01: I love that moment I meant like um like this year.
[27:34] SPEAKER_01: Sorry.
[27:34] SPEAKER_01: Actually let's just edit this out so I don't sound like an idiot Jack.
[27:38] SPEAKER_03: I'm so tempted to leave this year now.
[27:41] SPEAKER_00: No he's leaving it in.
[27:43] SPEAKER_01: No I hear you on that though a lot actually no no I was just meaning this year like he doesn't have that world title that he wanted this year.
[27:50] SPEAKER_01: And just like despite being so good every single race this year and not cut falling short at Nice but I think not the race that he wanted like pretender his worst Iron Man race of the year was the world championships the one where it probably mattered the most um so yeah I think Christian has a lot to lose and then again yeah Taylor for me for the women her year hasn't been as dominant as what it has in the past so I think she's kind of I don't want to say trying to salvage her season but I think this is almost her last shot to really stamp her authority on yeah the triathlon world for this year.
[28:33] SPEAKER_01: So I think yeah Taylor nib.
[28:35] SPEAKER_03: We don't ever really edit things out of this podcast either Greg you know like we sit down we record it whatever's said is said so if you say something stupid and look dumb we don't edit it out so that you look better than what you actually are and for one of the first times actually Greg I think it might be the first time since Justin Reale was on the podcast we got off the recording yesterday and Apo asked us to edit something that he said out of the podcast.
[28:59] SPEAKER_03: So I did I edited it out I was like come on Apo, we don't edit stuff out here and he's like no no please edit out so I edited it out.
[29:06] SPEAKER_03: So let's just do a group vote do we leave in what he just said like it's just me and you Greg.
[29:11] SPEAKER_03: So I vote that we leave it in.
[29:12] SPEAKER_00: Yeah we leave it in like what I don't even yesterday too I'm like what are you even talking about Apple like it's soft over there dude it was soft he get he gets off the fence and then is like I'm scared let me get back on.
[29:24] SPEAKER_01: I don't want to say that mate people people misconstrue right people take things that you didn't mean and turn it into something else.
[29:32] SPEAKER_01: This is the internet you know it doesn't it doesn't matter if it wasn't the meaning behind the words it's uh people take it and run with it.
[29:39] SPEAKER_03: Apo, we've been playing fuck Mary Kill on these daily pods forever we've said that we want to fuck about 50 different people yeah we actually had a Spotify comment about that they want us to get off the fence and start uh doing the other gender but uh yeah no way maybe not no way not a chance in hell am I doing that um okay my most to lose you've both gone athletes so I'm gonna go coaches for the men Olav Alexander Boo is the coach with the most to lose he doesn't even have an athlete in the field but just imagine this boys imagine is if Christian wins and Kasper comes second or Kasper wins and Christian comes second.
[30:20] SPEAKER_03: They just have great days Gustav even has a pretty good day it makes Olav look so bad because the Norwegians were off their spice in 2024.
[30:30] SPEAKER_03: They get rid of Olav they start doing the Christian Blumenfeld method and then they podium clean sweep niece imagine if they do something similar here.
[30:37] SPEAKER_03: So Olav Alexander Boo he'll be on the tracker and no matter what he says he'll be hoping that the Norwegians have a bad day.
[30:44] SPEAKER_03: Are we forgetting that Olav did coach Gustav to many 70.3 wins and a Kona title and the same with Christian yeah that's controversial if you talk to Arald but yes yes we uh we are forgetting that for the purpose of this segment and then short memory man and then the women with the most to lose it's uh good friend of mine one of the friends of the show uh Reese Charles Barclay and I say that because he's the one who made the decision to pull Lucy off the course in Kona which by the way correct decision 10 out of 10 times correct decision but it just means that let's see what happens with Lucy today and he's also the coach of Marjolaine Pierre who came fourth at the IMAM World Championships when she wasn't coached by Reese and then she did that crazy Tade Pagacha shit up till 30k at Kona and like was was like a minute faster than everyone else on the bike and blew up and this is a 70.3 course that suits her.
[31:39] SPEAKER_03: So if Marjelaine doesn't have a good day then that just means Reese has to go back to the drawing board with what they're doing together and come back stronger in 2026.
[31:48] SPEAKER_03: So I think a lot to lose for Reese Charles Barclay but like we always says with all of our selections when you've got a lot to lose you've got a lot to gain all of these people have a lot to gain as well on the weekend training is about 50% of the game as an endurance athlete and the other 50% is everything you do outside of training to see the benefits of your training.
[32:07] SPEAKER_03: For example sleep recovery nutrition it all helps make you a better athlete and pillar performance can help you with all of those things.
[32:15] SPEAKER_03: For example they have grass fed premium whey protein isolate to have in your in a shake or on your muesley post session in the morning or as a snack during work or late at night as a snack as a healthy alternative to eating junk food.
[32:29] SPEAKER_03: They also have triple magnesium that you should all be taking 45 minutes before bed to improve your sleep.
[32:35] SPEAKER_03: Nothing helps see the adaptations from training like better quality sleep and more of it.
[32:42] SPEAKER_03: So get yourself triple magnesium powder take it before bed every night and watch how much fitter you get because you're sleeping better.
[32:49] SPEAKER_03: It helps with adaptation from training if you haven't tried it you've got to try it.
[32:53] SPEAKER_03: They also have the highest quality creatine monohydrate in the world which every athlete should be using they have collagen repair to help prevent injuries or get you back quicker from tendon or ligament injuries.
[33:02] SPEAKER_03: They have ultraimmune C to help fight off sickness and they have ultra omega to help with joint pain like knee, hip or shoulder pain.

[33:36] SPEAKER_03: Okay boys that's our Ironman 70.3 world champs discussion done a little bit we're gonna finish today's podcast with the Spotify comments but we've just got one segment in between finishing the show with the Spotify comments and now we wanted to bring you our biggest triathlon training lifestyle racing tips.
[33:57] SPEAKER_03: And so we've gone away and we've thought about some Apo, start us off with your first tip for everyone.
[34:03] SPEAKER_01: My first tip is frequency of training I think you know for an example I think it's much better for most people to do six 3K swims a week than three six K swims a week.
[34:17] SPEAKER_01: I think frequency day in day out is more important than big volume and then big gaps between sessions if that makes sense.
[34:25] SPEAKER_01: How would you swim 4 by 1k if the sessions are only 3K though that was just a hype that was just they're the numbers that came out Greg you know I've I I have the luxury of going to the pool every night I'm learning over here.
[34:36] SPEAKER_01: I'm trying to learn from you okay and I understand like getting to the pool is a pain in the ass right and not everybody like swimming to go to the pool for an hour it it's a two hour endeavor right you've got to drive there you've got to get changed you got to swim you've got to drive home.
[34:49] SPEAKER_01: So I do understand that going to the pool every day is trickier for the the average person but um yeah I think frequency of training is more important than big sessions and then you know big gaps between those those days.
[35:02] SPEAKER_00: It's the Michael Phelps method swim every day.
[35:05] SPEAKER_00: My tip is student mindset.
[35:08] SPEAKER_00: I just think you have to have like a growth mindset and I stress it with my athletes who I coach and especially in swimming just trying to like kind of learn about what makes you fast but even if you're one of the best coaches in the world you can't pretend like you know everything.
[35:21] SPEAKER_00: You should be willing to learn from others and I think even the best coaches in the world say that too and it's almost the insecure newer people who think they have it all figured out but the true experts always have a student mindset.
[35:34] SPEAKER_03: I love this one Greg.
[35:35] SPEAKER_03: I think it's such a trap that you can fall into very easily where you let your ego get in the way of what's actually going to help you progress.
[35:42] SPEAKER_03: So you can do this thing where you stop putting yourself on the like you stop putting things on the line because you're afraid to fail because you want to come across like you're really good at something or like you're an expert at something.
[35:54] SPEAKER_03: So you're so afraid to fail or say the wrong thing or do the wrong thing.
[35:59] SPEAKER_03: And it's just a trap.
[36:00] SPEAKER_03: Like people who actually get better they act like students they go out there they try whether they succeed or fail they go out there and they try again they keep learning the whole way and that's the actual secret to getting better.
[36:14] SPEAKER_03: But if you're someone who holds yourself back because you think of yourself as an expert and you don't want to learn from any anyone or you don't want to take risks or chances that's just a like a surefire way to to stunt your growth as an athlete so I couldn't agree more.
[36:28] SPEAKER_03: My first one is that anyone can be a high performer anyone.
[36:34] SPEAKER_03: It doesn't matter whether you're Apo who's the second greatest triathlet of all time myself Greg Vicky who's just had her her second baby it doesn't matter if you're a 65 year old woman who's got osteoporosis or anywhere in between it doesn't matter if you're a 40 year old who's never trained a day before in your life you can be a high performer.
[36:54] SPEAKER_03: You just have to adopt the habits, behaviors, routines, mindsets of a high performer and not think of yourself as unworthy of being a high performer because that's a trap that all of us fall into professionals, age groupers, people who haven't done the sport it's so easy to not have confidence in yourself.
[37:11] SPEAKER_03: It's so easy to doubt yourself.
[37:13] SPEAKER_03: It's so easy to put limitations on yourself.
[37:15] SPEAKER_03: Don't do that.
[37:16] SPEAKER_03: Start thinking of yourself as someone who wants to be a high performer who wants to be the best and then let your actions routines and habits uh follow that line of thinking and that's the way that you can actually become a high performer.
[37:29] SPEAKER_03: Love that one.
[37:30] SPEAKER_01: My next one is more um in relation to to racing um and I would 10 out of 10 times prefer to be 10% underdone than 1% overdone.
[37:42] SPEAKER_01: I think um yeah erring on the side of caution and um you know when in doubt taking it a little bit easier and freshening up has always been better in my experience than pushing the envelope being cooked and going into a race cooked.
[37:58] SPEAKER_00: I kind of disagree honestly I feel like it I feel like for you and like for seasoned elites that makes sense but like sometimes in age group where I'm like no I think you need to push a little bit harder right I I don't know it's it's a hard balance right because there's times where you got good Apo and you kind of were overdone right so I I get what you're saying but like I I was talking about this with Jack earlier in the week the the this whole like intensity control like you don't have to train hard to get good you have to train smart but like you got to get out there and fucking work your ass off sometimes.
[38:29] SPEAKER_00: And I think that means maybe overdoing it on sometimes as long as it's not for years and years and years and years.
[38:35] SPEAKER_03: Yeah we had the global pandemic of COVID a couple of years ago and I think in the trython world we might be experiencing another pandemic which is the don't train hard pandemic train smart and I hate that mindset.
[38:49] SPEAKER_03: It doesn't mean that just training stupidly hard all the time and killing yourself is the only way forward but I don't think that you can rely on that safety net of you don't have to train hard you just have to train smart becoming like a big part of your psyche because I think it can make you a little bit weak and a little bit soft and and you kind of always start to take the easy way out.
[39:09] SPEAKER_03: And I know it goes against like consistency is a big thing especially over time.
[39:13] SPEAKER_03: And I do in theory agree with you Apo that if you've got a big key race that you care about going in slightly underdone is is better than going in completely cooked.
[39:21] SPEAKER_03: But yeah I think we do have to kind of not fall into the trap of being soft because we uh believe this like you can you can get away with not training hard thing that's that's coming into the sport.
[39:32] SPEAKER_01: I do just want to defend myself a little bit I'm not saying don't train hard.
[39:35] SPEAKER_01: I'm not saying you should do all your sessions easy.
[39:39] SPEAKER_01: Oh really oh I miss I misheard I guess.
[39:42] SPEAKER_03: No no I know what you're saying Apple I know what you're saying.
[39:44] SPEAKER_03: You're saying particularly close to a race just don't bury yourself you know in a couple like one or two weeks out from the race don't go in cooked like if in doubt and you're feeling like you're on that line just just ease off a little bit and go in a little bit underdone.
[39:57] SPEAKER_03: You're not saying year round.
[39:58] SPEAKER_00: Yes exactly my next tip is don't worry about like the perfect workout or zone that it kind of becomes a chore.
[40:06] SPEAKER_00: Like hit that local group ride master swim workout and group track workout and and push yourself.
[40:12] SPEAKER_00: It's kind of like what we just talked about.
[40:13] SPEAKER_00: I mean the whole Norwegian method of oh intensity control and like lactate it's like these guys are training 30 hours a week they're doing tons of thresholds so they control it.
[40:21] SPEAKER_00: But like if you're training eight to ten hours a week you don't it doesn't matter if you're in zone one or zone two like just go out and train work work hard and yeah don't be afraid to like do oh no I have a race coming up I have to do six by ten at X power.
[40:35] SPEAKER_00: It's like if you went to your local group ride and just smash yourself you probably would get fitter and be better in your race anyway so have fun with it.
[40:42] SPEAKER_00: Don't get don't be afraid to get out there and and race people and and and make some friends and push each other.
[40:48] SPEAKER_03: Next one for me this is a little bit of maybe a uh a batshit crazy spiritual one but I do think it's very true and very relevant for triathletes and that's that our body and our mind aren't separate they're the same thing.
[41:03] SPEAKER_03: And I think we have this thing in Triton where it's like just work harder just work harder just push yourself or like we separate the physical and the mental but I don't think you can and I think that everything follows action.
[41:15] SPEAKER_03: So every mindset that you have all of the thoughts going through your head all of your habits all of your routines what all of your success is going to be built on is your actions so if you're wondering where to start if you're in a slump if something isn't going as well as you thought it should if you're binge eating at night time if you're struggling to wake up early before work and train it whatever it is whatever is going wrong whatever the problem is it's not purely a physical problem or purely a mental problem they're the same thing.
[41:45] SPEAKER_03: And every single thing physical and mental follows action.
[41:49] SPEAKER_03: So start with action.
[41:50] SPEAKER_03: So if you're struggling to get up early if you're struggling with your routine just get up just take the action of setting your alarm and getting up no matter how how hard it is and then do it again and again and again and again and through that action you'll get hormonal release chemical release so dopamine it's a big big drug in our bodies it's the motivation drug.
[42:11] SPEAKER_03: So once you do something or commit to doing something and doing it then you'll get a little a little dopamine hit.
[42:17] SPEAKER_03: So that that's a huge part of training.
[42:19] SPEAKER_03: So instead of waking up first thing in the morning and going on Instagram and getting your dopamine hit from that hit stop on your alarm get up get your fluids into you and go to the pool and get your dopamine hit from that.
[42:31] SPEAKER_03: Use the power of dopamine as a drug and then serotonin that's the positive emotion drug once you finish that swim you're gonna get a big release of serotonin midway through that swim you're gonna get a big release of serotonin.
[42:44] SPEAKER_03: And so that way your body and your mind are working together to help you become a better athlete and it's remember it's in us chemically so these two drugs dopamine and serotonin use them to your advantage or you just you'll lose them.
[42:57] SPEAKER_03: Use them or lose them so I know that's kind of a convoluted tip but but that's my tip.
[43:02] SPEAKER_00: Dude I love that one so much and earlier this year we were at our RTS camp and we had to like kind of say a few things and I said earn your dopamine like there's just so much cheap dopamine out there like you said you will open your Instagram or whatever it is and earning it especially like when you wake up it's just it's it snowballs such good actions and moods that you know compound day over day.
[43:21] SPEAKER_00: So I love that one Jack.
[43:22] SPEAKER_01: All right my next one is consistency over weeks, months and years find that balance that you can sustain for longevity and um yeah I just think it's it's proven with endurance sports like the more miles on the body the better you are so yeah you need to find that balance that you can sustain.
[43:43] SPEAKER_01: It's it's all well and good to train massive hours for three months of the year for your for your A race.
[43:49] SPEAKER_01: But yeah I think it's more important to build the mileage on the body over years and build that consistency and that's going to lead to better performance in my opinion.
[43:59] SPEAKER_00: My next one is And I got this quote actually from someone who uh responded to something I said on Instagram, and he said, The higher the ceiling, the bigger the room.
[44:08] SPEAKER_00: And I figured I would just use that because you know how fast you can swim a 400 or a 200, and how fast you can run a mile, or how many po how much power you can push for five minutes, all of that does matter in the terms of endurance sports.
[44:22] SPEAKER_00: Like, you know, Kipchogi can run a fast 400 on the track, right?
[44:26] SPEAKER_00: So don't neglect your ceiling.
[44:28] SPEAKER_00: It kind of sets the upper limit, and then you can, you know, get more efficient in your longer efforts.
[44:34] SPEAKER_01: It's like the David Roach method.
[44:36] SPEAKER_01: Um he does, you know, the ultra runner does tons and tons of speed work, strides, two hundreds.
[44:43] SPEAKER_01: And he says if you improve your 5k PB, it's gonna have massive ramifications even for 100 mile ultra races.
[44:50] SPEAKER_01: You know, it's just increasing your speed increases economy in all zones.
[44:55] SPEAKER_03: Speed kills.
[44:56] SPEAKER_03: My next one is that you should make your strengths strengths and don't get too bogged down or caught up in your weaknesses.
[45:05] SPEAKER_03: All your weaknesses have to do is get to a level where they can grant you entry to play the game.
[45:11] SPEAKER_03: So if your swim is such a weakness that you're never getting yourself into the race, then you're not at a level in the swim to play the game.
[45:20] SPEAKER_03: But if your swim is at a level where you're fighting for the podium, maybe you're not front group, but you know, it's good enough.
[45:26] SPEAKER_03: Like let's say Nick Thompson level good enough, like Nick Thompson's swim isn't Jonas Schomburg's level.
[45:31] SPEAKER_03: But he doesn't need to go, okay, the next step for me is to get my swim good enough to become Jonas Schomburg.
[45:37] SPEAKER_03: He needs to work on his strength to become a world champion, which is his bike mainly, but also his run to a degree.
[45:43] SPEAKER_03: So don't get bogged down and obsessed and frustrated and disappointed, working away and grinding away on your weaknesses day after day, not enjoying it, because usually your strengths are the things that you enjoy.
[45:55] SPEAKER_03: And and just focus on your strengths, let your strengths flourish, let them shine.
[46:00] SPEAKER_03: They're what are ultimately gonna let you get the best result for yourself in anything you do, literally anything.
[46:06] SPEAKER_03: Like we're talking specifically Triton here, but this goes for life as well.
[46:09] SPEAKER_03: But with Triton, if you're a great runner, become a fucking great runner.
[46:13] SPEAKER_03: If you're a great cyclist, become the best cyclist in the field that you're competing against.
[46:19] SPEAKER_03: Work on your strengths, only really worry about your weaknesses to the level that they let you uh play the game.
[46:25] SPEAKER_01: I feel like there's a bit of a theme with mine.
[46:29] SPEAKER_00: I'm soft theme coming up.
[46:31] SPEAKER_01: I'm the recovery athlete.
[46:32] SPEAKER_01: Um but my next one is and you know, this isn't always the case, all right?
[46:37] SPEAKER_01: Just let me preface this.
[46:39] SPEAKER_01: But sometimes doing less is in fact better.
[46:44] SPEAKER_01: Um, and this comes from there's no way around.
[46:47] SPEAKER_01: You have to do those hard workouts.
[46:49] SPEAKER_01: If you're training for an Iron Man, you have to be there all there's always an element of being tired or not feeling like you're doing it.
[46:55] SPEAKER_01: But I mean this in more of a term of if you're waking up at 4 a.m.
[47:00] SPEAKER_01: to fit in, you know, a two-hour ride instead of a 90-minute ride.
[47:05] SPEAKER_01: Like I think sometimes doing less is the better option.
[47:08] SPEAKER_01: Like sleeping in, getting another hour of sleep, recovery is super important.
[47:13] SPEAKER_01: And you've got to be in tune with your body, right?
[47:15] SPEAKER_01: Like I go out training and I know, damn, this is hard.
[47:18] SPEAKER_01: I'm not feeling that good, but I know that I still need to push through.
[47:22] SPEAKER_01: But there's other times when I'm training and I'm like, this just isn't working today, right?
[47:28] SPEAKER_01: Like this is just isn't happening, and there's something wrong.
[47:32] SPEAKER_01: It's not just me being soft, but I need to adjust this session on the fly or cut this ride a little bit short in the hopes that I can nail my key session that's coming up in 48 hours.
[47:43] SPEAKER_01: So that's where I'm coming from with sometimes doing less is better.
[47:47] SPEAKER_00: Aaron Powell Now, would you say you should like cut a little bit of volume out or like easy stuff and prep for the hard?
[47:53] SPEAKER_00: Like, you know, because people are like, oh, it's my hard day, right?
[47:55] SPEAKER_00: And I have four intervals, and they're like, I just did one because I didn't feel good.
[47:59] SPEAKER_00: Like, where do you where do you go to first?
[48:02] SPEAKER_00: Or like what's your kind of process of that?
[48:03] SPEAKER_01: Aaron Powell So my process would be to first adjust the expectations of the session, right?
[48:09] SPEAKER_01: Like if I wanted to do, you know, two times one hour at um Iron Man power, but I was 15 watts below that, and but that 15 watts was still manageable and I felt like the effort was there, then that's my first point of call.
[48:25] SPEAKER_01: Other times you just know that like this just isn't feeling good and not in a like this just feels bad in a bad way.
[48:33] SPEAKER_01: So I'm just gonna ride aerobic, and then I guess the next point of call is oh, this is feeling really bad.
[48:39] SPEAKER_01: I'm really, really tired.
[48:41] SPEAKER_01: Even riding four hours easy is gonna be detrimental to my key session coming up in you know, later on in the week.
[48:48] SPEAKER_01: I think there's a couple of different ways you can go about it, and um yeah, I just think you have to be honest with yourself, right?
[48:54] SPEAKER_03: I hear this and put my coaching hat on Apple, and I have so many questions because I do think there is a theme.
[48:59] SPEAKER_03: I think we could do a little bit of a psychoanalysis of you right now.
[49:03] SPEAKER_03: Um when this happens with you, Apo, do you is it happening frequently with you?
[49:10] SPEAKER_01: What that like I'm cutting sessions and things, or that I'm just not hitting my target that I had set out for myself.
[49:19] SPEAKER_03: I think more the changing things, adjusting things to make them shorter or easier, or skipping them entirely.
[49:26] SPEAKER_03: Is that happening weekly?
[49:28] SPEAKER_03: Is it happening how many times a week, how many times a month?
[49:31] SPEAKER_01: I would probably I never really skip sessions.
[49:35] SPEAKER_01: In fact, I don't think, unless it's like an optional, oh, you've got an optional 2K swim, if you want to do it, you can.
[49:40] SPEAKER_01: But like key sessions or something, I would never ever skip.
[49:44] SPEAKER_01: And I always try and go into sessions with open mind.
[49:47] SPEAKER_01: I would say once every couple of weeks, there's a session, like key session that doesn't go to plan that I have to adjust.
[49:53] SPEAKER_01: Um, but if it's just like, oh, I'm going out for a 15k run, I don't feel good, so I'm just gonna run five minute Ks instead of 430s, like, you know, I'm not gonna cut that session short unless I'm like, oh, I've got an injury, or um, you know, I'm sick, or this is actually gonna be really bad because I've got a key run tomorrow.
[50:14] SPEAKER_03: Yeah, once every two weeks.
[50:15] SPEAKER_03: That's that's pretty reasonable.
[50:16] SPEAKER_03: When it's happening, do you think it's more happening because of things outside of training, or do you think it's cumulative fatigue from training?
[50:24] SPEAKER_01: There's a lot of things that affect like stress is stress, right?
[50:26] SPEAKER_01: Like you build stress from training, you build stress from work, from family life.
[50:30] SPEAKER_01: Like it doesn't matter where stress is coming from, it all impacts us, right?
[50:34] SPEAKER_01: So I think it's hard to discern why a session goes bad and there's not always an answer.
[50:39] SPEAKER_01: Like some days the body just doesn't have it, right?
[50:41] SPEAKER_01: And um I think the good thing is about being a professional um is that we get to do this every single day and we can adjust on the fly.
[50:50] SPEAKER_01: And if a if a key ride or key swim doesn't go well, like I'm going to the I was speaking to you guys off the podcast earlier before we started recording, saying that you know, my key swim of the week, my VO2 swim went awful and I was swimming really bad.
[51:04] SPEAKER_01: So that was a session that I did just have to stop doing the hard work and I just made it aerobic.
[51:10] SPEAKER_01: But I'm gonna go to the pool again tomorrow and try that VO2 swim because I know that a VO2 swim changing that day isn't gonna affect it's not gonna have a knock-on effect for the rest of the training of the week.
[51:22] SPEAKER_01: But you know, moving a key bike or a key run sometimes can have knock-on effects, right?
[51:26] SPEAKER_01: So sometimes it's better if a key session doesn't go to plan.
[51:30] SPEAKER_01: Sometimes leaving it in the past is the best option than trying to make it up as well.
[51:34] SPEAKER_00: Definitely on that.
[51:36] SPEAKER_00: Um, my tip is lifelong training volume is a massive predictor of performance, and there are no shortcuts.
[51:44] SPEAKER_00: And it's kind of like what you said earlier, like consistency over weeks, months, and years.
[51:48] SPEAKER_00: And I don't know, I'm just a big believer who like who's ever done the most over the last 10 years is like kind of the best off.
[51:55] SPEAKER_00: You know, it's like when I stand on a start line, I've sworn more yards than everyone in the field.
[51:59] SPEAKER_00: I'm like, I think I'm gonna be up there.
[52:01] SPEAKER_00: You know, Sam Long shows up, he's biked more than anyone, right?
[52:04] SPEAKER_00: And someone like Morgan Pearson's ran a lot.
[52:07] SPEAKER_00: And it's not all the it's not the end all be all, but it's such a massive predictor and of your performance.
[52:14] SPEAKER_00: And you, Apo, right?
[52:15] SPEAKER_00: You can maybe get away with being a little more cautious now, but you've been training consistently for 20 frickin' years, man.
[52:20] SPEAKER_00: Like you got so many miles in your legs, right?
[52:23] SPEAKER_00: So there's no shortcuts, you gotta put in the time, and that time pays off in the end.
[52:28] SPEAKER_03: My next one is that short-term goals are powerful, and communicating those short-term goals creates higher chances of follow-through on those goals.
[52:38] SPEAKER_03: So this is kind of the opposite of what you're just talking about, Greg.
[52:42] SPEAKER_03: Sure, it's a fact that lifelong training time or training age is probably the biggest predictor of performance.
[52:49] SPEAKER_03: It just is.
[52:51] SPEAKER_03: You can't really avoid that in an endurance sport.
[52:54] SPEAKER_03: However, you can't just fast forward 10 to 15 years down the track.
[52:58] SPEAKER_03: And so you've got to take short steps, you know, you just got to climb the steps until you get to heaven, type of thing, when it comes with in when it comes to endurance training.
[53:06] SPEAKER_03: And taking those first steps, or you know, maybe sometimes getting to the next step that from the step that you're on can be hard.
[53:13] SPEAKER_03: Endurance training is hard.
[53:15] SPEAKER_03: Showing up day in, day out, doing what Greg talks about and what what even what Apple talks about as well, in that there's no shortcuts, just show up every day.
[53:23] SPEAKER_03: That's bloody hard to do.
[53:24] SPEAKER_03: And so you've got to find ways of making that achievable.
[53:27] SPEAKER_03: And I think short-term goals are super powerful with that.
[53:30] SPEAKER_03: And the communicating them thing, accountability matters as humans.
[53:34] SPEAKER_03: Humans are social creatures, even introverts, even introverts are social creatures.
[53:38] SPEAKER_03: So whether you want to pretend that you're just this different thing, this different animal, you're not.
[53:44] SPEAKER_03: And a lot of endurance athletes can get stuck training by themselves a lot, in their own head a lot.
[53:49] SPEAKER_03: That's fine, you can do that, but make sure you're still using the fact that you're a social creature to your advantage with achieving your goals by communicating with someone, telling them what your short short-term goals are, and then maybe setting some like ways that they can keep you accountable.
[54:05] SPEAKER_03: Hey, in like X amount of time, ask me if I've done this, or judge me on this, or measure me on this, or test me on this, and do it with yourself as well.
[54:15] SPEAKER_03: So a really good example might be that in the next month, I want to run 200 kilometers.
[54:22] SPEAKER_03: Set that goal, go and communicate it to someone and try and stick to it as best you can.
[54:27] SPEAKER_03: You still might not, but having just done that, that first step of setting the goal and telling someone about it makes it far more likely that you'll do it rather than just keeping it in your head as like a whimsical thought.
[54:38] SPEAKER_01: All right, my next one.
[54:39] SPEAKER_01: And Greg, I'd be interested to get your take on this tip.
[54:42] SPEAKER_01: For most people, swim technique will get you more gains than swim fitness.
[54:47] SPEAKER_01: Um, as triathletes, we're already really fit, right?
[54:50] SPEAKER_01: We swim, bike, and run.
[54:52] SPEAKER_01: Um, we already keep such a high baseline of fitness.
[54:55] SPEAKER_01: I think the limiter to a lot of people is swim technique, right?
[54:59] SPEAKER_01: And how they're pulling through the water, how much water they're pushing.
[55:03] SPEAKER_01: I just think swim technique is yeah, just way more important than swim fitness.
[55:09] SPEAKER_01: And I see a lot of triathletes trying to get better by, you know, just smashing reps up and down the pool.
[55:16] SPEAKER_01: But if their technique is really bad, it's just it's just creating bad habits.
[55:20] SPEAKER_01: And yeah, I'm not surprised when people that do that kind of complain about not improving their swim that much.
[55:27] SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I mean, that's my entire philosophy of anyone I coach is that.
[55:31] SPEAKER_00: And my next tip was never take swim advice from Sam Appleton.
[55:35] SPEAKER_00: But I'm officially going out and rescinding my next tip because Apo somehow has actually given out some great swim advice.
[55:44] SPEAKER_00: So yeah, I think you're spot on with that.
[55:46] SPEAKER_00: Like, you gotta you gotta you gotta hold your body up, you gotta have body position, head position, efficient breathing, all of those things.
[55:52] SPEAKER_00: And once that's all at a good level, then your fitness can be expressed, right?
[55:56] SPEAKER_00: So look, and you can still build fitness while building your swim technique as well, but you're so right, Apple.
[56:01] SPEAKER_00: That's not the limiter.
[56:02] SPEAKER_00: I mean, shit, that it's the whole Sam Long Lionel Sanders thing.
[56:06] SPEAKER_00: Like, obviously, the engine is not the limiter for those guys, right?
[56:09] SPEAKER_00: It's their technique.
[56:10] SPEAKER_00: So my next tip is always take some advice from Sam Appleton, except by four by one thousand.
[56:17] SPEAKER_03: My last tip is that purpose and routine power your training, and fitness and emotion power your racing.
[56:26] SPEAKER_03: You cannot survive in training on fitness and emotion alone, they're just too fleeting.
[56:32] SPEAKER_03: Fitness comes and goes, motivation and emotion comes and goes, it changes, it's it's so fluid.
[56:38] SPEAKER_03: You can harness those two things and use them for race day.
[56:42] SPEAKER_03: Emotion is so powerful on race day.
[56:44] SPEAKER_03: If you're not using emotion to your advantage on race day, you're missing out on performance benefit.
[56:49] SPEAKER_03: And obviously, your fitness is gonna shine on race day.
[56:52] SPEAKER_03: But day to day in training, what will actually help you more than relying on, okay, I'm gonna wake up tomorrow morning, I'm so motivated, or you know, just like trying to just grind through day after day is having purpose, having having good habits or a good routine.
[57:09] SPEAKER_03: So purpose is individual.
[57:11] SPEAKER_03: The purpose for me to get out and train tomorrow is different for Greg, and it's different for Apo, and it's different for you.
[57:16] SPEAKER_03: You gotta figure out what your purpose is, and it can't be fake.
[57:19] SPEAKER_03: You cannot fake purpose.
[57:21] SPEAKER_03: Like you can't convince yourself of your purpose for training.
[57:24] SPEAKER_03: It doesn't work.
[57:25] SPEAKER_03: You're like your brain is too smart, it sees through it.
[57:28] SPEAKER_03: So actually ask yourself, what is my purpose?
[57:32] SPEAKER_03: Why am I doing this?
[57:33] SPEAKER_03: Like, what is it actually not what I want it to be?
[57:36] SPEAKER_03: And then once you have that, it really makes getting into good routines and good habits easier.
[57:42] SPEAKER_03: And then those two things are the cornerstone of making your day-to-day training way, way, way more consistent, way, way more achievable.
[57:49] SPEAKER_03: So, yeah, routine and routine and habits is an interesting one as well.
[57:53] SPEAKER_03: But like I talked about earlier, you know, your body and your mind are the same thing.
[57:57] SPEAKER_03: And so your body and your mind, they just they rely so heavily on routine and habits.
[58:04] SPEAKER_03: So if you wake up at a certain time to train every day, do it every day.
[58:07] SPEAKER_03: Don't wake up at like 6 a.m.
[58:09] SPEAKER_03: one day and then 11 a.m.
[58:10] SPEAKER_03: the next day and then 9 a.m.
[58:12] SPEAKER_03: the next day and then 1 p.m.
[58:13] SPEAKER_03: the next day.
[58:14] SPEAKER_03: Wake up at 6 a.m.
[58:15] SPEAKER_03: every day or 7 a.m.
[58:16] SPEAKER_03: every day.
[58:16] SPEAKER_03: Train at the same time every day.
[58:18] SPEAKER_03: Get yourself in really good routines, have really good fueling routines, eat the same thing before your training, eat the same thing after your training.
[58:25] SPEAKER_03: Do these things, be consistent.
[58:27] SPEAKER_03: Your body loves consistency, it runs off the subconscious, not the conscious.
[58:31] SPEAKER_03: So purpose and routine, power your training, fitness and emotion, power your racing.
[58:37] SPEAKER_03: Okay, so a quick break from the show to talk about something that's a game changer.
[58:41] SPEAKER_03: Not for your training, but for your online life.
[58:44] SPEAKER_03: And that's Nord VPN.
[58:46] SPEAKER_03: As triathletes, we're constantly on the move.
[58:49] SPEAKER_03: Training camps, races, overseas trips, airports, hotel, Wi-Fi, and let's be honest, not all of those connections are secure.
[58:57] SPEAKER_03: That's where NordVPN comes in.
[58:59] SPEAKER_03: It protects your data and keeps your online activity private no matter where you are in the world.
[59:05] SPEAKER_03: I use NordVPN every single time I travel.

[59:51] SPEAKER_03: And this is our last thing before the Iron Man70.3 World Championships daily podcasts are done and dusted.
[59:57] SPEAKER_03: I'll kick us off.
[59:58] SPEAKER_03: Jared says Eric's latest TTL video paints an injured and sick Paula Finlay, but I see a tactic to get a longer leash when she destroys the bike course.
[1:00:08] SPEAKER_03: Paula for the win, go Canada.
[1:00:11] SPEAKER_03: Yep, shout out to Canada.
[1:00:12] SPEAKER_03: I love our Canadian listeners or listeners.
[1:00:14] SPEAKER_03: Always about number five or six in the the country with the most listeners for the triathon hours.
[1:00:20] SPEAKER_03: So big shout out to Canada.
[1:00:22] SPEAKER_03: Uh, I'm not sure.
[1:00:23] SPEAKER_03: Eric's not a bullshitter.
[1:00:24] SPEAKER_03: He's not like a Norwegian who's going to play not mine games.
[1:00:27] SPEAKER_03: I think Eric and Paula are kind of pretty transparent.
[1:00:30] SPEAKER_03: So if Eric and Paula are saying that like Paula's sick and injured, she probably has been sick and injured.
[1:00:35] SPEAKER_03: Now, whether that affects her, I don't know.
[1:00:37] SPEAKER_03: She's got 25 years under her belt.
[1:00:39] SPEAKER_03: So I think Paula will be just fine.
[1:00:41] SPEAKER_03: I don't think she can win though.
[1:00:42] SPEAKER_01: Yeah, Paula doesn't need to train because she's um she's got so many years on the chassis, you know?
[1:00:48] SPEAKER_01: Yeah, just don't overdo it.
[1:00:50] SPEAKER_01: Don't overdo it.
[1:00:51] SPEAKER_01: 10% underdone, baby.
[1:00:53] SPEAKER_01: All right.
[1:00:53] SPEAKER_01: Um Bailey Copeland 2000 says, Boys, you really need to be talking about Taylor Eed from New Zealand as a threat.
[1:01:02] SPEAKER_01: Well, Bailey, would you surprise to know that uh I actually did pick Taylor Reed as my dark horse?
[1:01:08] SPEAKER_01: So, you know, you maybe just commented a little bit too early.
[1:01:13] SPEAKER_01: He's gonna be first out of the water, hammer the bike, and can run well on tired legs.
[1:01:17] SPEAKER_01: He even skipped the WTCS grand final in Wollongong to target this race.
[1:01:22] SPEAKER_01: Double exclamation mark.
[1:01:24] SPEAKER_03: Crazy how you and Bailey had the exact same thought, Apple.
[1:01:27] SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we just had an epiphany.
[1:01:29] SPEAKER_01: We're like telepaths in the night, you know?
[1:01:31] SPEAKER_01: Um yeah.
[1:01:33] SPEAKER_01: And once Bailey brought this up, I did kind of agree, right?
[1:01:36] SPEAKER_01: Like, I didn't really think too much of Taylor Reed, but he makes good points.
[1:01:41] SPEAKER_01: And Taylor, I think this is his first year racing 70.3.
[1:01:44] SPEAKER_01: I know he did Geelong, had a reasonably good race.
[1:01:47] SPEAKER_01: So he's got, you know, almost almost a year under the belt or more even of this middle distance racing.
[1:01:52] SPEAKER_01: So he's only gonna improve.
[1:01:54] SPEAKER_01: And coming from that WTCS background, I think I think it's a good shout.
[1:01:57] SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he is someone who pushes, swims, and gets on the bike and rides hard too.
[1:02:02] SPEAKER_00: Like he wants the group to get away, and that's always a sign to me.
[1:02:04] SPEAKER_00: Like they're a strong cyclist.
[1:02:06] SPEAKER_00: So uh I don't know if he's gonna be first out of the water.
[1:02:09] SPEAKER_00: I think he'll be up there.
[1:02:10] SPEAKER_00: He could be first, but I don't think he's like some super super swimmer that he'll he'll for sure be first out.
[1:02:15] SPEAKER_00: But yeah, good job.
[1:02:16] SPEAKER_03: Okay, Tom says, gutted to hear shock and disappointment in Apo's voice when he learned his ad read for precision fuel and hydration had been cut.
[1:02:25] SPEAKER_03: Starting a petition to bring back the shit ad reads.
[1:02:28] SPEAKER_03: Okay, Apo, like you de you do genuinely use precision fuel and hydration.
[1:02:33] SPEAKER_03: So it wasn't like a gun to your head thing.
[1:02:34] SPEAKER_03: We were like, oh, you actually use this, like go and tell people why you why you use it.
[1:02:39] SPEAKER_03: And because you were using it before you were paid to use it, same as me.
[1:02:42] SPEAKER_03: And then your ad read was kind of a little shitty.
[1:02:44] SPEAKER_03: Um, and people were saying, like, why does Apo sound like he's got a gun to his head?
[1:02:48] SPEAKER_03: So I'm like, okay, we'll just do a new one.
[1:02:50] SPEAKER_03: But I'll give you another chance.
[1:02:51] SPEAKER_03: So right now, top of your head, give us a precision fuel and hydration ad read.
[1:02:57] SPEAKER_03: Tell people why they should use it.
[1:02:59] SPEAKER_01: Well, first of all, there was actually a couple of comments saying that they loved the ad read.
[1:03:04] SPEAKER_01: So I feel like you've you've lent into the negativity and you've crumbled under the pressure of a couple of comments.
[1:03:10] SPEAKER_01: Um, and also I do want to say that when I recorded that, you said, fuck, you just nailed that Apo.
[1:03:16] SPEAKER_01: And then you took it and ran with it, and then you've thrown me under the bus.
[1:03:22] SPEAKER_01: But yeah, I mean, I've been sponsored by Precision since 2019, and um, I started working with Andy for my first Iron Man.
[1:03:30] SPEAKER_01: And um I just think the product is just really, really good.
[1:03:35] SPEAKER_01: We've for my first Iron Man 2019, we went and got sweat tested.
[1:03:39] SPEAKER_01: I knew my numbers, I knew my losses, and we were just able to dial in like a super personal approach to fueling and hydration um that works.
[1:03:48] SPEAKER_01: And I think I think everybody should be using the free tools that they have online on their website, access to Emily.
[1:03:55] SPEAKER_01: The product is just great, and this I mean, I know you are telling me to do an ad read, but this is this is just like genuine enthusiasm for the product, right?
[1:04:04] SPEAKER_01: They have great product, they have gels, they have carb mix, they have alright.
[1:04:08] SPEAKER_03: You're 60 seconds up.
[1:04:09] SPEAKER_03: We're good, let's move on.
[1:04:10] SPEAKER_03: Next comment.
[1:04:14] SPEAKER_01: Anyway, um next one precision, it's good stuff, you should use it.
[1:04:19] SPEAKER_01: Um Reed says, I can't believe no one has brought up Jamie Riddle's hair.
[1:04:24] SPEAKER_01: When the Norwegians went slim, you wouldn't shut up about it, but not a peep when Jamie goes slim shady.
[1:04:31] SPEAKER_01: Now I saw this haircut, right?
[1:04:34] SPEAKER_01: And Jamie's He's one of those young kids that can kind of pull off uh kind of uh unique hairstyle, I would say.
[1:04:43] SPEAKER_01: Um I saw it.
[1:04:44] SPEAKER_01: I actually kind of like it, to be honest.
[1:04:46] SPEAKER_01: I thought he looked good.
[1:04:47] SPEAKER_01: Slim shady, baby.
[1:04:48] SPEAKER_03: Didn't surprise me.
[1:04:49] SPEAKER_03: I was like, oh yeah, makes makes sense he's going through an MM phase.
[1:04:52] SPEAKER_03: Like it just it just I'm like, yeah, he was always gonna go through that phase at some point.
[1:04:57] SPEAKER_01: We just went through it in 1995, Jack.
[1:05:00] SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[1:05:02] SPEAKER_03: Okay, James McLaren says, Boys, give us some music recommendations.
[1:05:07] SPEAKER_03: What do you listen to on the trainer?
[1:05:09] SPEAKER_03: And what are your top three artists slash bands of all time?
[1:05:13] SPEAKER_01: So you actually started a um a thread in the um WhatsApp group, Jack, and said, Oh, what's what's some of your musical tastes?
[1:05:22] SPEAKER_01: And I responded, what did I respond with, Jack?
[1:05:24] SPEAKER_03: Oh, some Screamo shit.
[1:05:28] SPEAKER_01: Some Josh Amberger shit.
[1:05:30] SPEAKER_01: Like I listen to all types of music, right?
[1:05:32] SPEAKER_01: Like I've got a three-year-old that loves little mouse productions and um LMP, baby.
[1:05:37] SPEAKER_01: Love some LMP.
[1:05:41] SPEAKER_01: Um but if I'm by myself, I'm listening to um to metal, right?
[1:05:46] SPEAKER_01: Um you guys actually made fun of me for going to the movies by myself.
[1:05:50] SPEAKER_01: But did you know I actually went to a show of four artists by myself, a metal show um a few weeks ago.
[1:05:59] SPEAKER_01: So if I'm By myself, I'm listening to some yeah, like death metal or metalcore or something like that.
[1:06:06] SPEAKER_00: Uh my number one is Ari Clow.
[1:06:09] SPEAKER_00: Most definitely.
[1:06:11] SPEAKER_00: I actually do like Ari's music.
[1:06:14] SPEAKER_00: And I like a little 90s action is kind of my go-to.
[1:06:19] SPEAKER_00: Or yeah, I also like some like I guess like EDM funk type music.
[1:06:24] SPEAKER_00: Something that's like hype, like maybe a little drum and bass type too.
[1:06:27] SPEAKER_00: That's that's kind of what I work out to if I'm I'm doing a hard workout.
[1:06:30] SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
[1:06:30] SPEAKER_03: I love MM.
[1:06:31] SPEAKER_03: I love Hilltop Hoods, I love Rufus, I love Arcade Fire, I love uh The Wombats, I love Gang of Youths.
[1:06:40] SPEAKER_03: I love a lot of Australian music, like I love uh Powder Finger, I like Green Day, I like Blink 182.
[1:06:46] SPEAKER_03: I listen to so are they Australian?
[1:06:48] SPEAKER_03: No, they're American.
[1:06:49] SPEAKER_01: Oh, okay.
[1:06:49] SPEAKER_01: What about Silver Chair Jack?
[1:06:50] SPEAKER_01: Are they getting a good one?
[1:06:51] SPEAKER_03: I love Silver Chair.
[1:06:52] SPEAKER_03: Tomorrow's a great song.
[1:06:53] SPEAKER_03: Tomorrow by Silver Chair.
[1:06:54] SPEAKER_03: Hilltop Hood's um The Nosebleed section is the song that plays before all of the ads on the podcast.
[1:07:00] SPEAKER_03: One of my favourite songs of all time.
[1:07:02] SPEAKER_03: In a bloom from Rufus is probably my favourite song of all time.
[1:07:05] SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
[1:07:06] SPEAKER_03: I just love I just love music.
[1:07:07] SPEAKER_03: I probably listen to uh I would say five to six hours of music a day every day.
[1:07:12] SPEAKER_03: Like I just always have Spotify on pretty much all the time, and I don't do a single run anymore where I don't listen to music.
[1:07:18] SPEAKER_00: There you go.
[1:07:19] SPEAKER_00: I'll I'll uh I didn't say an artist, so I'll say my boy Grizz.
[1:07:22] SPEAKER_00: He might be my favourite artist of all time.
[1:07:24] SPEAKER_00: Chris says, What's happened to Skipper on here?
[1:07:27] SPEAKER_01: And we've had quite a few uh Joe Skipper.
[1:07:30] SPEAKER_01: Where the F has Joe Skipper gone?
[1:07:33] SPEAKER_01: And you know what?
[1:07:33] SPEAKER_01: We told Joe that he's not allowed back on the pod until those fucking dogs shut up in the background.
[1:07:40] SPEAKER_03: For people who don't know, like, okay, when you hear the finished product of a Joe Skipper podcast, or when he comes on one of these episodes, it sounds great.
[1:07:47] SPEAKER_03: He's good, he's always pissing himself, laughing, he's always fun, he's got some good takes, but you just don't realize what goes into actually making that happen.
[1:07:56] SPEAKER_03: So he's always about 45 minutes late.
[1:07:59] SPEAKER_03: Like if you organize a time, he's so late.
[1:08:02] SPEAKER_03: Like it's just outrageous.
[1:08:03] SPEAKER_03: Like me, Apo, and Greg will sit there for 45 minutes, or the guest will sit there for 45 minutes.
[1:08:09] SPEAKER_03: He always has internet issues, his internet never works, he's always got barking dogs in the background, or like the postman knocking at the door, or his family randomly show up, and like it's just chaos.
[1:08:19] SPEAKER_03: And the edit takes about four hours because of it.
[1:08:22] SPEAKER_03: It's just such a process.
[1:08:24] SPEAKER_03: And so, yeah, the uh logistics of having Joe Skipper on the podcast is kind of like what I reckon it would have been like getting Ozzie Osborne to show up to like rehab back in the day.
[1:08:33] SPEAKER_03: Like, it's just a nightmare, it's almost not worth it.
[1:08:35] SPEAKER_03: Just letting him be addicted to drugs.
[1:08:37] SPEAKER_01: Joe called in when he was walking his dogs in like the dog park the other day to try and record a podcast.
[1:08:42] SPEAKER_01: That's the that's what we're dealing with.
[1:08:44] SPEAKER_03: We had a podcast scheduled, and like we all have like our little podcast rooms with our microphones set up, and we're wait-we waited 25 minutes for Joe to get on the podcast, and it didn't work.
[1:08:53] SPEAKER_03: His internet connection didn't work, and then he finally gets on and he had his airpods in, taking his dogs for a walk along the beach.
[1:09:00] SPEAKER_03: Like, come on, Joe.
[1:09:05] SPEAKER_00: Classic skipper.
[1:09:06] SPEAKER_00: All right.
[1:09:07] SPEAKER_00: Uh BO0404, and yes, I'm reading another Spotify comment about myself.
[1:09:13] SPEAKER_00: Um, says, I saw a reel by Greg that's saying real swimmers don't wear watches in the pool.
[1:09:19] SPEAKER_00: And all I gotta say about this is I'm sorry that most triathletes' coaches are virtual, and the only metric that they use is Garmin Strava training peaks, but I'll surely listen to Mr.
[1:09:29] SPEAKER_00: Third Fastest Swim and Third Slowest everything else.
[1:09:34] SPEAKER_00: I just got a news flash for all your triathletes out there with your swim data.
[1:09:38] SPEAKER_00: Your coach doesn't fucking look at it, okay?
[1:09:41] SPEAKER_00: No one is going on training peaks looking at your swim laps, dude.
[1:09:45] SPEAKER_00: So don't kid yourself.
[1:09:47] SPEAKER_00: No one is looking at that shit, alright?
[1:09:49] SPEAKER_00: Swim data is pointless, okay?
[1:09:52] SPEAKER_00: It's the clock and perceived effort.
[1:09:54] SPEAKER_00: Also, I'm tired of people saying I suck at bike and run.
[1:09:57] SPEAKER_00: I challenge any pretender out there to a race.
[1:10:00] SPEAKER_00: Get me on Zwift, let's do a local 5K and I'll fuck you up, alright?
[1:10:04] SPEAKER_00: I'm tired of this shit.
[1:10:05] SPEAKER_00: I'm a good bike and runner.
[1:10:07] SPEAKER_00: You'll see.
[1:10:08] SPEAKER_00: I'm tired of it, and let's move on.
[1:10:13] SPEAKER_03: Oh, that's so good.
[1:10:15] SPEAKER_03: Like, seriously, if you think you can beat Greg on the bike, comment on Spotify.
[1:10:19] SPEAKER_03: I will make that race happen on Zwift.
[1:10:21] SPEAKER_03: I won't let him get away with that call out and not actually race you.
[1:10:25] SPEAKER_03: Like, just if you want to race him, comment on Spotify.
[1:10:28] SPEAKER_03: I'll message you.
[1:10:29] SPEAKER_03: Uh, once you comment, I'll message you privately.
[1:10:31] SPEAKER_03: I'll get your username.
[1:10:32] SPEAKER_03: I'll organise the race.
[1:10:34] SPEAKER_00: We'll need weight weigh-ins too, because I know there are those pretenders out there gonna be cheating on that.
[1:10:38] SPEAKER_01: I will give you credit, Greg.
[1:10:40] SPEAKER_01: You have there is comments about Greg in the Spotify, right?
[1:10:43] SPEAKER_01: And Greg has picked out the ones that have thrown shade.
[1:10:45] SPEAKER_01: There is a couple in there praising Greg and his comedic gold, I believe.
[1:10:49] SPEAKER_01: And Greg chose not to read that one, but chose to uh throw hands with B20404 instead.
[1:10:56] SPEAKER_00: Actually, there was a there was one part of the comment I didn't uh read, and it was at the end.
[1:11:00] SPEAKER_00: It's like, oh no worries, I'm just taking the piss, but nah, fuck that.
[1:11:05] SPEAKER_03: Okay, uh Rachel R says, Hey boys, this is a real deep cut, but hearing how fit Jack is getting on the last episode made me remember that Jack once challenged Justin Riale, rest in peace, to a f to a running race.
[1:11:19] SPEAKER_03: Let's make this happen.
[1:11:21] SPEAKER_03: This is the content the people need.
[1:11:23] SPEAKER_03: And Harry B also said something about this uh race with me and Justin Riale.
[1:11:27] SPEAKER_03: And Greg, just like you, you just made a call out to all of the pretenders out there I want to race Justin Riale.
[1:11:33] SPEAKER_03: He doesn't want to race me.
[1:11:34] SPEAKER_03: He is avoiding this race.
[1:11:36] SPEAKER_03: He won't do it.
[1:11:37] SPEAKER_03: I've said to him, Justin, I'll do it over, I'll do it over 400, 1800, 1500, the mile, 3k, 5k, 10k, 15k, 21k, all the marathon.
[1:11:45] SPEAKER_03: I'll race you on any of them.
[1:11:47] SPEAKER_03: Any, any, any of them, any day.
[1:11:49] SPEAKER_03: You pick the day, you pick the distance, I'll be there.
[1:11:52] SPEAKER_03: So I just want that on the record.
[1:11:53] SPEAKER_03: If it doesn't happen, it's not because I've said no, it's because Justin's not making it happen.
[1:11:59] SPEAKER_01: I think it was agreed that it was going to be a half marathon, wasn't it?
[1:12:01] SPEAKER_03: Yeah, but at Lake Las Vegas T100, that then got changed to Wong.
[1:12:05] SPEAKER_03: So we couldn't do it.
[1:12:06] SPEAKER_03: Same.
[1:12:06] SPEAKER_03: Actually, while we're on this, some people say that I pulled out of a race with Mark Matthews.
[1:12:10] SPEAKER_03: That's not true.
[1:12:11] SPEAKER_03: We agreed to race at Iron Man Switzerland.
[1:12:12] SPEAKER_03: He decided to do challenge Roth and not Iron Man Switzerland.
[1:12:15] SPEAKER_03: I couldn't fly from Australia to Roth at the time.
[1:12:17] SPEAKER_03: It was like way too soon notice.
[1:12:20] SPEAKER_03: So I just want that out there.
[1:12:21] SPEAKER_03: I'm up for that race too.
[1:12:22] SPEAKER_03: Any distance, any time.
[1:12:24] SPEAKER_03: Mark, if you're listening, which I know you secretly do listen, just let me know.
[1:12:27] SPEAKER_03: We can race over any distance too.
[1:12:30] SPEAKER_01: Alright.
[1:12:30] SPEAKER_01: Noah Raz says, with Lionel Sanders and Daniel Backegaard not racing, who is the best professional YouTuber in this race?
[1:12:38] SPEAKER_01: Because sometimes that's more important than athletic performance.
[1:12:41] SPEAKER_01: I had a thing about this one.
[1:12:42] SPEAKER_01: It's probably Paula and Eric, right?
[1:12:44] SPEAKER_01: Um well Paula, I know Eric's not racing, but um for the women.
[1:12:48] SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
[1:12:49] SPEAKER_01: Who's uh who does some good uh YouTube for the men?
[1:12:52] SPEAKER_03: Well, Lucy Charles Barclay for the women, surely.
[1:12:54] SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
[1:12:55] SPEAKER_01: I reckon Paula gives Lucy a run for her money.
[1:12:57] SPEAKER_00: Eric's like a filmmaker.
[1:12:58] SPEAKER_00: Lucy's just like very like professional.
[1:13:00] SPEAKER_00: It's like the shot with like Roka, like in the you know, it's like all this product placement.
[1:13:05] SPEAKER_00: I gotta say, like, I don't know if I've like reached a tipping point, but I'm like just tired of all the YouTubes.
[1:13:10] SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I agree.
[1:13:11] SPEAKER_03: We don't have great YouTube content in the in the Trithon world right now.
[1:13:15] SPEAKER_03: Like Lionel hasn't been posting, and it really has exposed that there's not much entertainment in the Trithlon YouTube space below him.
[1:13:22] SPEAKER_03: The bul the the Norwegians have the best YouTube outside of Lionel when they do it, they just don't do it much anymore.
[1:13:27] SPEAKER_03: When they do do it, it's actually really, really fucking good.
[1:13:30] SPEAKER_03: I wish they did it more.
[1:13:32] SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's like a slice of life kind of stuff with the Norwegians are just filming from their iPads.
[1:13:35] SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I crack up when I listen to them, dude.
[1:13:38] SPEAKER_03: Yeah, Trithlon needs the Norwegians back on YouTube.
[1:13:41] SPEAKER_03: Christian, please start posting a weekly vlog on YouTube after this race for the whole offseason.
[1:13:47] SPEAKER_03: Once a week, post a vlog.
[1:13:48] SPEAKER_03: It's it's so entertaining.
[1:13:50] SPEAKER_03: Please, please, please, Christian.
[1:13:51] SPEAKER_03: And Christian actually does listen.
[1:13:53] SPEAKER_03: He sent video of himself listening to the podcast to Greg multiple times recently, and he keeps he keeps uh sending photos of Jackson Laundry to Greg, like saying that Jackson's a pretender.
[1:14:04] SPEAKER_03: Um, so yeah, we know Christian listens.
[1:14:07] SPEAKER_03: Christian, please start your YouTube again.
[1:14:09] SPEAKER_03: Weekly vlogs.
[1:14:10] SPEAKER_00: TL Ridgely says, Aka excuse me, Apo, but if you can't get on board with Vicky and Greg's love of Pitch Perfect, then you're a pretender of a movie buff.
[1:14:21] SPEAKER_00: You better Akka believe it.
[1:14:23] SPEAKER_01: So I actually feel like I said that Pitch Perfect is a fine movie, and I had no uh disdain for Vicky or Greg's love of it.
[1:14:32] SPEAKER_01: I said it's perfectly fine.
[1:14:33] SPEAKER_01: Perfectly crumulant movie.
[1:14:35] SPEAKER_03: Pitch Perfect is an absolute trash movie.
[1:14:37] SPEAKER_03: Let's like let's be real.
[1:14:39] SPEAKER_01: And what's Aka?
[1:14:40] SPEAKER_01: Is that is that like an inside joke on Pitch Perfect?
[1:14:43] SPEAKER_00: It's like they say Aka excuse me, like because it's Arkapella, and they like say uh they say Aka.
[1:14:50] SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that was the It's been a while since Carmen.
[1:14:52] SPEAKER_01: I'm a fake movie buff.
[1:14:54] SPEAKER_01: Sorry, TL Ridgely.
[1:14:56] SPEAKER_03: This is one of the all-time let-down ways to finish a podcast.
[1:15:01] SPEAKER_01: Quick, find another Spotify comment.
[1:15:03] SPEAKER_01: That's to bring it up.
[1:15:08] SPEAKER_03: Really?
[1:15:11] SPEAKER_03: Oh, fuck me.
[1:15:14] SPEAKER_01: Just before we uh we finish up the pod, Jack, we do have some really, really exciting news that um Greg and I want to share with you.
[1:15:22] SPEAKER_01: Um breaking news.
[1:15:24] SPEAKER_01: We are just gonna announce to you, Jack, that we're gonna do daily pods starting next week for Challenge Canberra, which is next weekend, baby.
[1:15:35] SPEAKER_01: Let's go.
[1:15:36] SPEAKER_01: Monday morning, daily pods for challenge camera.
[1:15:39] SPEAKER_01: I'm just joking, we're not doing daily pods for challenge camera.
[1:15:43] SPEAKER_00: Bro, the strength of field is 58, dude.
[1:15:45] SPEAKER_00: It's gonna be lit.
[1:15:48] SPEAKER_03: Oh, it's like, wait, are we actually doing this?
[1:15:50] SPEAKER_03: Is this not gonna be a funny thing we're doing next week?
[1:15:53] SPEAKER_03: Imagine if we did daily podcasts for just a random race like that.
[1:15:56] SPEAKER_03: Okay, everyone, we're doing daily podcasts for challenge Canber next week.
[1:15:59] SPEAKER_01: We'd have to do a deep dive into every athlete because it's probably only going to be like 10 on e each list.
[1:16:04] SPEAKER_01: Yeah, just get interviews and they're like it's like their first pro race.
[1:16:08] SPEAKER_00: Like, yeah, let's get them on the pod for an interview.
[1:16:10] SPEAKER_01: Actually, I do want to I do want to shout out Canberra, actually.
[1:16:13] SPEAKER_01: That has been it used to be a pretty long-running 70.3 in Australia, and it was actually, you guys might not know this, my very first 70.3 win, 2012 or 13.
[1:16:26] SPEAKER_01: I can't remember.
[1:16:27] SPEAKER_00: Jack probably knows off the top of his head.
[1:16:29] SPEAKER_00: Jack?
[1:16:29] SPEAKER_00: Yep.
[1:16:30] SPEAKER_01: No, I looked back, it's not even on the PTO website.
[1:16:34] SPEAKER_01: Like it it was that long ago.
[1:16:35] SPEAKER_01: They just don't compile results from that long ago, I guess.
[1:16:41] SPEAKER_01: Six Australians in the race and no one else.
[1:16:44] SPEAKER_01: I think I just broke four hours.
[1:16:46] SPEAKER_01: I did like 357 or something.
[1:16:48] SPEAKER_01: Like, imagine that now.
[1:16:50] SPEAKER_01: That wouldn't even win you an age group.
[1:16:52] SPEAKER_03: I remember this race though, 2013 it was.
[1:16:54] SPEAKER_01: Yep.
[1:16:55] SPEAKER_01: Anyway, shout out, challenge Canberra.
[1:16:57] SPEAKER_03: You were just a short course kid coming through.
[1:16:59] SPEAKER_03: You're actually like you were a different athlete then.
[1:17:01] SPEAKER_03: I always I was like, oh, this guy's a good runner, and now I think of you as like a swim biker.
[1:17:05] SPEAKER_03: Funny how that's changed.
[1:17:08] SPEAKER_03: Anyway, that's the daily podcast done for the Iron Man 70.3 World Championships here in Mar Baya.
[1:17:13] SPEAKER_03: If you are someone listening to these in Mar Baya, like we talked about off the top of the show, be safe out there.
[1:17:20] SPEAKER_03: A lot of crime happened in Mah Baya right now.
[1:17:23] SPEAKER_03: Don't get involved in any of the gangland murders that are going on here.
[1:17:27] SPEAKER_03: Uh, boys, how good was this?
[1:17:29] SPEAKER_03: Vicki was awesome yesterday.
[1:17:30] SPEAKER_03: So good that she came on when her daughter is literally at the time of recording, it was nine days old, and she had to jump off, and she was breastfeeding the kid within 15 minutes of getting off the podcast.
[1:17:39] SPEAKER_03: So that was awesome.
[1:17:40] SPEAKER_03: We really appreciate that.
[1:17:41] SPEAKER_03: And now we've just got the races to look forward to.
[1:17:44] SPEAKER_03: The men and women vying off for the title of Iron Man 70.3 World Championship World Champion this week.
[1:17:50] SPEAKER_03: Um, I can't wait to watch what goes down.
[1:17:53] SPEAKER_03: So, Greg Apo, this is our third and final daily podcast series for the year.
[1:17:57] SPEAKER_03: We did both of the men's and women's Iron Man World Championships and now the 70.3 World Championships.
[1:18:02] SPEAKER_03: They were awesome.
[1:18:03] SPEAKER_03: We're gonna have a bit of a break from them now.
[1:18:04] SPEAKER_03: Unless something crazy happens, the next daily podcast won't be until a big race in 2026.
[1:18:10] SPEAKER_03: It could almost be like six months away until we we do our next set of daily podcasts.
[1:18:14] SPEAKER_03: So we really hope that all of you listening enjoyed them.
[1:18:17] SPEAKER_03: We hope that you loved the format.
[1:18:18] SPEAKER_03: It'll be back to regular programming from next week, though, with just one podcast a week.
[1:18:23] SPEAKER_03: So we're we need the break.
[1:18:24] SPEAKER_03: We're all yawning, but they were a hell of a lot of fun.
[1:18:27] SPEAKER_03: So yeah, Greg and Apo, thank you for coming along the journey of the daily podcast with me this year.
[1:18:31] SPEAKER_03: And let's do it next year, maybe like Iron Man New Zealand or Iron Man 70.3 Oceanside or Roth.
[1:18:37] SPEAKER_03: I don't know.
[1:18:38] SPEAKER_03: We'll start it somewhere there.
[1:18:39] SPEAKER_01: I don't know about starting it for Oceanside.
[1:18:43] SPEAKER_01: Surely we just need to save it for like the world championships.
[1:18:46] SPEAKER_01: Otherwise, we're gonna fall into the trap of doing Challenge Canberra.
[1:18:49] SPEAKER_03: I know, but it's 12 months away almost.
[1:18:51] SPEAKER_03: I just like love doing the daily podcast.
[1:18:53] SPEAKER_03: Like, I'm like, I'm literally thinking like, can we do them for Christmas?
[1:18:56] SPEAKER_03: Like, should we do Christmas daily podcasts?
[1:18:58] SPEAKER_01: Just leading into 25th of December.
[1:19:01] SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and we can all like open a present every day and be like, hey, this is the present I opened today.
[1:19:06] SPEAKER_01: Wait, I got a better idea.
[1:19:07] SPEAKER_01: Let's do the 25 days of Christmas, like an advent calendar.
[1:19:10] SPEAKER_03: Oh, that would be so good.
[1:19:11] SPEAKER_03: A 10-minute podcast every day for every day leading into Christmas in December.
[1:19:17] SPEAKER_03: That would be amazing, Apo.
[1:19:19] SPEAKER_03: And we could literally make it.
[1:19:20] SPEAKER_03: We could do like the little like one to 25 things where we lift open the door and it has a topic behind it, and none of us know.
[1:19:26] SPEAKER_03: And it's like, okay, it's the first of December, our topic is, and then we read the topic, and that's what we just do the 10-minute podcast to get, and then we do that the next day.
[1:19:34] SPEAKER_03: Apo, let's do that.
[1:19:37] SPEAKER_01: Well, we'll see.
[1:19:39] SPEAKER_01: I'm racing an ice camp in the first week of December, so I might have to miss that first week.
[1:19:43] SPEAKER_03: Greg, come on, have my back here.
[1:19:45] SPEAKER_03: We could do this.
[1:19:46] SPEAKER_03: We could do it.
[1:19:47] SPEAKER_03: He says, as he's yawning.
[1:19:51] SPEAKER_03: All right, boys.
[1:19:52] SPEAKER_03: That's uh that's definitely our sign to leave.
[1:19:55] SPEAKER_03: Everyone, thank you so much for listening.
[1:19:56] SPEAKER_03: Uh, if you want to leave some Spotify comments on this episode, we'll we'll read them out on next weekend's debrief episode of the iMan70.3 World Championship.
[1:20:05] SPEAKER_03: So we say the daily podcasts are done, but really there's still one more to come in about three or four days' time when we do the debrief podcast.
[1:20:10] SPEAKER_03: So get your Spotify comments in on this episode.
[1:20:13] SPEAKER_03: We'll read them out to start the uh the podcast for the debrief podcast.
[1:20:16] SPEAKER_03: Greg Apo, thanks so much, boys.
[1:20:19] SPEAKER_00: Thank you.
[1:20:19] SPEAKER_00: Thank you, Jack.
