[0:27] SPEAKER_04: Yes, welcome back, all of you gorgeous people on this gorgeous day.
[0:32] SPEAKER_04: It's great to be here, gorgeous to be here.
[0:35] SPEAKER_04: Everyone's gorgeous.
[0:37] SPEAKER_04: Everything in this life is gorgeous, and um I'm just appreciative of all of you for tuning in.
[0:43] SPEAKER_04: I'm joined by the whole crew today.
[0:44] SPEAKER_04: Greg's here.
[0:45] SPEAKER_04: Greg, thank you.
[0:46] SPEAKER_01: Good to be here, Jack.
[0:47] SPEAKER_01: And I'm looking out the window to the trees, and they are gorgeous.
[0:51] SPEAKER_01: You're correct about that.
[0:52] SPEAKER_04: God, I feel gratefully, gorgeously grateful.
[0:55] SPEAKER_04: Apo's here as well, fresh off T100 San Francisco.
[0:59] SPEAKER_04: Apo, how are you feeling?
[1:00] SPEAKER_00: Feeling alright.
[1:01] SPEAKER_00: Also looking outside.
[1:02] SPEAKER_00: The day is looking gorgeous, but as I look at my reflection in the um riverside, that's not looking too gorgeous, apparently.
[1:10] SPEAKER_04: Well, we posted that meme the other day, and um I didn't know this about yourself, but you don't look at the other person when you're on FaceTime to them.
[1:16] SPEAKER_04: So am I just finding out now that when we have these riverside calls, you don't actually look at any of us and you're just spending the whole time looking at your gorgeous self.
[1:25] SPEAKER_00: Where did that nugget of information come from?
[1:29] SPEAKER_04: That was your wife who told me that.
[1:31] SPEAKER_00: Did she did she comment on that?
[1:33] SPEAKER_04: Yeah, no, we did we damn.
[1:35] SPEAKER_00: Me what?
[1:37] SPEAKER_00: Of course, I'm hearing of this.
[1:39] SPEAKER_04: She's gorgeous as well.
[1:41] SPEAKER_04: And as always, we're joined by the most gorgeous person in triathlon, the voice of Trithlon, the smartest person in Trithlon.
[1:50] SPEAKER_04: Did I miss any compliments there, Greg?
[1:52] SPEAKER_04: Vicky Holland.
[1:54] SPEAKER_06: Oh, hi guys.
[1:56] SPEAKER_07: Um I don't know what you're talking about.
[1:59] SPEAKER_07: I can't even say that word.
[2:00] SPEAKER_07: So pleasure to be here, though.
[2:03] SPEAKER_04: There's many things to get into from T100 San Francisco on the weekend.
[2:07] SPEAKER_04: By the way, guys, we're doing a T100 San Francisco Iron Man Hamburg debrief podcast.
[2:13] SPEAKER_04: It'll probably be a pretty short and sweet one, but there is something that we really wanted to address for all of you off the top of the show, and that was the broadcast of T100 San Francisco, where you were all promised something.
[2:24] SPEAKER_04: You were all promised by our own Vicky Holland that on air she would call Sam Appleton gorgeous.
[2:31] SPEAKER_04: Now, Vicki I promised.
[2:33] SPEAKER_04: People have noticed that you may have broken that promise, despite there being several prime opportunities to do so.
[2:41] SPEAKER_04: Did you want to defend yourself before we take the piss out of you?
[2:44] SPEAKER_07: Um, I don't think I need to defend myself.
[2:46] SPEAKER_07: Uh, no promises were made.
[2:48] SPEAKER_07: I feel I was harassed and bullied into this situation.
[2:53] SPEAKER_07: And uh unfortunately I dispute the claim that there was multiple opportunities because I believe that Sam Appleton got about 30 seconds of airtime in four hours.
[3:04] SPEAKER_00: Well, let me let me uh just defend myself a little bit.
[3:07] SPEAKER_00: When my race was going south, you know, from basically jumping off the boat, we um I thought in my head, I'm like, what is the best way that I can get this gorgeous face on the live stream?
[3:21] SPEAKER_00: Right?
[3:21] SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, you know, I'm definitely not gonna ride to the front of the race.
[3:25] SPEAKER_00: Like Rico's taking off.
[3:27] SPEAKER_00: Um, you know, so my only play, my last Hail Mary was, what if I purposely get a 30-second penalty?
[3:36] SPEAKER_00: Surely the T100 love some drama and they will put this face on the live stream.
[3:41] SPEAKER_00: So here I was coming into T2, and I saw that precision fuel and hydration gel wrapper.
[3:48] SPEAKER_00: I saw it in there, and I'm like, you know what?
[3:49] SPEAKER_00: If I leave that here, they will give me an equipment out of the box 30-second stand down penalty.
[3:57] SPEAKER_00: So I thought, you know, I'm probably not going to get a top 10 here.
[4:01] SPEAKER_00: What's the difference between, you know, 13th or 14th?
[4:04] SPEAKER_00: So I took one for the team, I laid it up for Vicky.
[4:07] SPEAKER_06: Dead at the camera, real good.
[4:09] SPEAKER_00: Bitterly disappointed upon rewatch when those uh when that word was not uttered.
[4:15] SPEAKER_07: Uh would you like me to read some of the DMs that I have had in response to the non-gorgeous comments that were made on the day.
[4:26] SPEAKER_04: Yes.
[4:27] SPEAKER_04: Please.
[4:28] SPEAKER_04: Absolutely.
[4:29] SPEAKER_07: So there were many, and thank you.
[4:31] SPEAKER_07: Um, a lot in response to Jack, you obviously put up the wanted poster for not mentioning that uh Apo was gorgeous, and I got a lot of responses to that.
[4:40] SPEAKER_07: Cao Carvalho.
[4:42] SPEAKER_07: Sorry if that's not how you pronounce your name.
[4:45] SPEAKER_07: Uh Kai Cao, not sure.
[4:47] SPEAKER_07: Uh, sometimes the choice between aura farming and putting bread on the table is clear cut.
[4:52] SPEAKER_07: Thank you.
[4:53] SPEAKER_07: That is exactly what was going on.
[4:55] SPEAKER_01: Aura farming.
[4:57] SPEAKER_07: The next one is from Rachel Webster.
[5:00] SPEAKER_07: To be fair, he was so far back, he was never in the frame for you to slip that in.
[5:04] SPEAKER_07: Sorry, I'm so gonna dig at you there, but you know, she's not wrong.
[5:11] SPEAKER_07: The next one is from Alex.
[5:15] SPEAKER_07: You can't be held to account.
[5:16] SPEAKER_07: When is Jack getting that tattoo?
[5:18] SPEAKER_07: And Apo didn't really help, did he?
[5:19] SPEAKER_07: He wasn't even on the camera.
[5:21] SPEAKER_07: The next one, Trevor Hawley.
[5:23] SPEAKER_07: I'm not angry, Vicky.
[5:24] SPEAKER_07: I'm just disappointed.
[5:25] SPEAKER_07: There was one reason and one reason only that I watched the T100.
[5:29] SPEAKER_07: I just wanted to hear what we all know about Apo.
[5:32] SPEAKER_07: There definitely needs to be consequences.
[5:34] SPEAKER_04: I agree that there needs to be consequences, by the way.
[5:36] SPEAKER_04: We need to discuss that.
[5:38] SPEAKER_07: Okay, and the final one, and this one is perfect because it's absolutely true.
[5:43] SPEAKER_07: This one is from Krussel, and it says, You could hear the cogs in your brain working during the silence while Apo was in the penalty tent, and then like in speech marks, how much do I want to keep this job?
[5:56] SPEAKER_07: That is basically the crux of it, if I'm honest with you.
[6:00] SPEAKER_06: There was that one moment, Apo, where you were in the penalty box and quite weirdly staring at the camera with this little creepy smile on your face.
[6:12] SPEAKER_07: And I thought, can I say that he's got a gorgeous smile?
[6:15] SPEAKER_07: I thought, no, I just can't do it.
[6:17] SPEAKER_07: I can't do it.
[6:18] SPEAKER_07: I'm gonna get sacked.
[6:19] SPEAKER_06: I'm not doing it.
[6:20] SPEAKER_06: And I bottled it.
[6:21] SPEAKER_06: And you know what?
[6:22] SPEAKER_06: I'm not even sorry.
[6:24] SPEAKER_00: And we do know, I think like people from the T100 do listen because they actually, when they put Ben Benjamin Zorgnotti as the people's champ, they like so they obviously listen because that's an inside joke from Yeah, they put that on Instagram, right?
[6:40] SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
[6:40] SPEAKER_00: Yeah, they did.
[6:41] SPEAKER_00: So obviously that's an inside joke within the Triton Our community.
[6:46] SPEAKER_00: So yeah, you know, I'm not fully disappointed, I'm just a little bit disappointed.
[6:53] SPEAKER_07: Would you have been creeped out had I actually mentioned you being gorgeous while you were in the penalty tent?
[7:01] SPEAKER_00: Would that not have been more weird?
[7:02] SPEAKER_00: No, no.
[7:03] SPEAKER_00: I would I think it would have been quite funny, and I um I would have commended you for um sticking to the bit, but um I don't have the balls for it, sorry guys.
[7:11] SPEAKER_07: Hands up, not me.
[7:12] SPEAKER_07: That's it.
[7:13] SPEAKER_00: You got the wrong girl.
[7:14] SPEAKER_00: It's forgiven.
[7:15] SPEAKER_00: It's forgiven, not forgotten.
[7:17] SPEAKER_04: It didn't help that Apo definitely didn't look gorgeous in the penalty tent.
[7:20] SPEAKER_04: Like, if I'm in if I put myself in your shoes in that moment, Vicky, I'm looking at him thinking, he looks kind of fucked and absolutely creepy.
[7:27] SPEAKER_04: He doesn't look gorgeous.
[7:29] SPEAKER_04: Like it would have been so out of place with how not gorgeous he looks.
[7:33] SPEAKER_07: That's the point.
[7:34] SPEAKER_07: The only time I thought I might be able to do it was I thought if he comes down the finish shoot and he's like had a relatively good race and he's like sort of just given a little bit of a wave and a nice, big, happy, genuine smile.
[7:47] SPEAKER_07: I thought I might be able to say, oh, gorgeous smile, had a great race, that kind of thing.
[7:52] SPEAKER_07: And even then I was like, oh, I'm not sure.
[7:54] SPEAKER_07: It feels a bit weird.
[7:55] SPEAKER_00: So you're shifting the blame, you're shifting the blame onto me.
[7:58] SPEAKER_06: Well, we didn't see you finish, so I definitely could do it.
[8:02] SPEAKER_06: They cut that bit off the broadcast.
[8:04] SPEAKER_04: So in a 20-man field, when they don't show you finish, you know you've had a bad day.
[8:11] SPEAKER_07: But you know what?
[8:11] SPEAKER_07: I th I actually think they did show someone who finished after you.
[8:14] SPEAKER_07: I think maybe we'd gone to like an interview or like we were doing a recap of something.
[8:19] SPEAKER_07: I don't know.
[8:20] SPEAKER_07: Was that what it was?
[8:21] SPEAKER_07: There was definitely something.
[8:23] SPEAKER_01: I was thinking this.
[8:24] SPEAKER_01: In a 20-person field, you gotta go split screen.
[8:27] SPEAKER_01: Like the finish has to be in the corner and the interview, or the other way around.
[8:30] SPEAKER_01: Like, if there's only 20 people, fans and like family, they're tuning in, they want to see their person finish, right?
[8:36] SPEAKER_01: So, like, you've got to show everyone cross the line.
[8:39] SPEAKER_01: People want to see that.
[8:40] SPEAKER_01: So I think that's something they could they can do better.
[8:42] SPEAKER_01: Like, we don't need a full screen of the Rico interview.
[8:44] SPEAKER_01: Like, we want Sam, that gorgeous smile coming down the finish suit in the corner.
[8:48] SPEAKER_07: I still wouldn't have been able to comment though, would I?
[8:50] SPEAKER_07: Because it would have been during the interview.
[8:52] SPEAKER_01: I'm watching, I want to see Sam finish, and I want to see Justin finish, and I want to see them cross the line.
[8:58] SPEAKER_01: Maybe we can show a quick interaction.
[8:59] SPEAKER_01: Like, that's the shit that I really like to see.
[9:02] SPEAKER_01: And maybe maybe no one else does, but I'm an athlete.
[9:04] SPEAKER_01: I love watching people finish and their demeanor as they cross the line.
[9:09] SPEAKER_01: Because it's happy and then it gets sad, and then like their heads hang.
[9:12] SPEAKER_01: And I I I want to see that.
[9:14] SPEAKER_01: So, and and family wants to see that.
[9:16] SPEAKER_01: Like, your wife's watching Apo.
[9:17] SPEAKER_01: She wants to see you finish, and all of a sudden they're like, uh, 11th place is coming down the chute.
[9:21] SPEAKER_01: Oh, nah, let's fuck that guy.
[9:23] SPEAKER_01: He's slow.
[9:24] SPEAKER_01: Let's put on Rico.
[9:26] SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
[9:26] SPEAKER_00: Part of me though, like when you're having a bad race, you just kind of want to fade into the background, right?
[9:32] SPEAKER_00: Like, you don't want you gotta stand up, dude.
[9:35] SPEAKER_01: That's the yawn way, no disappearing.
[9:38] SPEAKER_01: Is that the yawn way?
[9:39] SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
[9:39] SPEAKER_01: Remember that one time you was really critical of Chelsea Sidaro for like scooting off the course when she when she DNF'd.
[9:45] SPEAKER_01: Um, anyway, Vicky, I want to ask you a question.
[9:48] SPEAKER_01: I was texting Vicky excessively beforehand, and like I was getting the vibe that she was really not gonna say gorgeous.
[9:54] SPEAKER_01: Did I convince you at all to maybe because I this is what this is what I wanted her to do.
[10:01] SPEAKER_01: I wanted her to tell the T100.
[10:03] SPEAKER_01: Like, hey, this is kind of a bit, it's gonna be kind of a joke, and it's gonna be fun, everyone's gonna love it, it's gonna bring eye, everyone's watching, everyone's having fun.
[10:10] SPEAKER_01: I thought she if she if she was if she got out ahead of it and told them that she was gonna say this, then everyone wins.
[10:18] SPEAKER_01: But like she said, she doesn't have the balls, apparently.
[10:21] SPEAKER_01: And uh I I think that could have worked out, but that's I guess I wasn't convincing enough.
[10:26] SPEAKER_07: No, you you didn't provide me with any convincing arguments.
[10:29] SPEAKER_07: The only things you were saying were you were talking about a gorgeous smile as well, when you were saying you should say he's got a gorgeous smile or like oh oh gorgeous run form.
[10:36] SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
[10:36] SPEAKER_07: Yeah, something like that.
[10:38] SPEAKER_07: But again, we didn't really get eyes on for the gorgeous run form, I'm afraid, Apo.
[10:42] SPEAKER_07: Um but yeah, I was just like, it just felt too like it it just felt so forced.
[10:47] SPEAKER_07: I was like, I can't do this, I just can't do it.
[10:49] SPEAKER_07: And you know what?
[10:50] SPEAKER_07: It genuinely was stressing me out beforehand.
[10:52] SPEAKER_07: Like in the week before, I was like lying in bed thinking, how am I gonna do this?
[10:59] SPEAKER_07: Like, this is like I'm such a goody two shoes.
[11:03] SPEAKER_06: This is not okay.
[11:04] SPEAKER_04: Wait, wait, wait.
[11:05] SPEAKER_04: Let me just pause here, Vicky.
[11:07] SPEAKER_04: Oh, here we go.
[11:07] SPEAKER_06: You're gonna turn this into something horrible, aren't you?
[11:10] SPEAKER_06: Go on.
[11:10] SPEAKER_04: Well, yes, but this whole thing started because Greg, who's married, called you, who's married gorgeous on the podcast.
[11:18] SPEAKER_04: Which was which was weird.
[11:19] SPEAKER_04: We we acknowledged that, particularly myself and Apo at the time thought that was a little bit strange.
[11:24] SPEAKER_04: We didn't want to make too big a deal out of it, and we we don't feel we made too big a deal out of it at this stage.
[11:30] SPEAKER_04: We don't feel like we have yet.
[11:32] SPEAKER_04: We've me and Apo have talked about this in private.
[11:34] SPEAKER_04: We think that we've been completely reasonable up until this point and haven't blown it way out of proportion.
[11:39] SPEAKER_04: However, Vicky, you're telling me that because Greg called you gorgeous, you're now laying in bed at night in your marital bed, thinking about the fact that Greg called you gorgeous.
[11:50] SPEAKER_06: No, that's absolutely not what I said.
[11:52] SPEAKER_06: But well done for trying to twist it into that.
[11:55] SPEAKER_01: Men will not rest.
[11:57] SPEAKER_06: I think what you'll find I said was that I was stressed about having to try and do it on a live broadcast, which I didn't want to do.
[12:05] SPEAKER_01: I was actually trying to convince her because I was trying to sneak in and steal her job, but uh there's no way I would get hired anyway.
[12:11] SPEAKER_01: But that that was my other reasoning for trying to get her to say that.
[12:15] SPEAKER_01: And Jack Jack's actually just trying to get his job back.
[12:18] SPEAKER_01: So there's two of us really gunning for the job.
[12:20] SPEAKER_01: The motivations have really coming out.
[12:22] SPEAKER_01: It was sinister, Vicky, and you know, props to you for for not doing it.
[12:27] SPEAKER_07: There was part of me going like, I did like giving myself a pep talk.
[12:31] SPEAKER_06: Like, you are a strong, independent woman.
[12:33] SPEAKER_06: You do not need to do this, you do not need to be bullied by these people.
[12:37] SPEAKER_06: Come on, Vicki, you're an adult, you can do this.
[12:39] SPEAKER_06: Like, don't don't say what they want you to say.
[12:43] SPEAKER_04: Those three mean boys.
[12:45] SPEAKER_06: Yeah, they're bullying you.
[12:47] SPEAKER_06: Don't let them do it.
[12:47] SPEAKER_06: You're you're an adult, you're older than all of them, Vicki.
[12:50] SPEAKER_06: Come on.
[12:50] SPEAKER_04: Not Apo, you're younger than Apo.
[12:52] SPEAKER_06: Yeah, probably.
[12:53] SPEAKER_06: No.
[12:54] SPEAKER_04: He he's looking so old recently.
[12:56] SPEAKER_04: At San Francisco, we're gonna which we're gonna talk about the race in a second.
[12:59] SPEAKER_04: God, he looked old.
[13:00] SPEAKER_04: Um, I I do think the last point on this, Vicky, is that on the triathlon hour, we have a few things that we just believe in strongly.
[13:10] SPEAKER_04: We believe in the truth, integrity, honesty.
[13:13] SPEAKER_04: And when you give your word, you do something and you follow through.
[13:17] SPEAKER_04: We've shown that time and time again that when we give our word to each other and the people of this show, we deliver.
[13:22] SPEAKER_04: I've done it, Apo's done it, Greg's done it.
[13:25] SPEAKER_04: I've definitely never betrayed those core principles that we believe in.
[13:29] SPEAKER_04: But now you have for the first time on the podcast, and we're all very disappointed about that.
[13:34] SPEAKER_04: And I do feel like to wrap this up, I think we are owed some form of apology by you.
[13:39] SPEAKER_04: Maybe not me, Apo and Greg, but the people listening are definitely owed an apology because they would have wasted their time watching that boring broadcast, waiting for it to be fun for three seconds.
[13:49] SPEAKER_06: How dare you!
[13:51] SPEAKER_00: Rude.
[13:52] SPEAKER_00: I must say, there was a I was getting so many people on the course were yelling gorgeous to me out there.
[13:59] SPEAKER_00: Like spectators, so that brought a little smile to my face.
[14:02] SPEAKER_00: So thank you to everyone that called me gorgeous.
[14:04] SPEAKER_01: Probably Dean Harper.
[14:06] SPEAKER_07: You know what?
[14:07] SPEAKER_07: I'm not sorry to you three, because you three had it coming.
[14:12] SPEAKER_07: But I am sorry to the people that Jack essentially promised on my behalf that I would call Apo Gorgeous.
[14:19] SPEAKER_07: So to all you people who have, you know, been hoodwinked by this charlatan, I'm sorry.
[14:26] SPEAKER_04: I think 15 minutes of talking about this gorgeous thing is more than enough.
[14:29] SPEAKER_04: Greg's angry again.
[14:30] SPEAKER_04: Greg started this podcast in such a good mood for the first time in like five weeks.
[14:35] SPEAKER_04: He's got four worst on grounds in a row because he's been so grumpy, and now he's stopped talking and he's grumpy again because we brought up the gorgeous thing and how he started it, and he called another married woman gorgeous.
[14:45] SPEAKER_04: He just put his might down, he's been angry ever since that was said.
[14:49] SPEAKER_00: All right, shall we move on to the race?
[14:51] SPEAKER_00: Good idea, Rappo.
[14:53] SPEAKER_04: Well, you were in at Apo, and Vicky commentated it.
[14:56] SPEAKER_04: So why don't you guys take it through it and me and Greg can just value add where we think we can.
[15:00] SPEAKER_04: By the way, it wasn't a boring race, it was one of the better races of the year so far.
[15:04] SPEAKER_00: I mean, it was cool.
[15:05] SPEAKER_00: Um, the race, like the experience of doing that race was cool.
[15:08] SPEAKER_00: My race, obviously, we joked about it a little bit, was a little bit underwhelming, I would say.
[15:14] SPEAKER_00: Um I just think I I struggled like from the get-go, like the cold water.
[15:19] SPEAKER_00: Um like I've never really had a panic attack before, but I felt like this was like you know when you d jump into like really cold water and you can't breathe, it feels like the the air is getting like stuck at your trachea and not going into your lungs.
[15:36] SPEAKER_00: That's kind of like what I felt like for that whole swim.
[15:40] SPEAKER_00: So every time someone would like push me under or hit me or something, I'd like completely lose like like panic and think I was gonna drown.
[15:48] SPEAKER_00: So I'd have to like roll onto my back and like suck in some oxygen and then start swimming again.
[15:53] SPEAKER_00: So I don't know, I think m like maybe I didn't warm up properly, but I don't know what else I could have done because you can't get in the water, right?
[16:00] SPEAKER_00: Like you can't acclimate to the water for 15 minutes before the race starts.
[16:04] SPEAKER_00: So did you wear a thick cap or just the normal?
[16:08] SPEAKER_00: No, I wore a neoprene cap.
[16:10] SPEAKER_00: Oh wow.
[16:11] SPEAKER_00: Um yeah, I mean it I think the water was fifty-four degrees, so like twelve Celsius.
[16:17] SPEAKER_07: Well, they they told on the broadcast whether it's right or not, they told us thirteen point three, I think.
[16:22] SPEAKER_00: Okay.
[16:23] SPEAKER_00: Which, like, I've swim like oceanside's been, I feel like that temperature before, Greg, like really cold.
[16:29] SPEAKER_00: But at least you can get in, right, for like 10 to 15 minutes and acclimate.
[16:33] SPEAKER_00: I was actually speaking to Will Draper after the race, and he actually did something that um, you know, I don't I don't know if this is, you know, if there's any evidence behind this, but he actually put like iced water down his wetsuit before he jumped in, you know, to like cool himself down to kind of I don't know if that's like a good idea, but yeah, I think I just struggled like it from that cold start from the get-go.
[16:58] SPEAKER_00: Um so yeah, didn't swim very well.
[17:01] SPEAKER_00: Ride was actually pretty decent, I felt like I held good power.
[17:05] SPEAKER_00: Um, you know, besides Rico and Lasse Priester going off the front, like I pretty much held good position.
[17:13] SPEAKER_00: But um, yeah, it was just really hard.
[17:15] SPEAKER_00: Like the bike was probably one of the hardest bike rides I've ever done.
[17:19] SPEAKER_00: Just the nature of the course.
[17:21] SPEAKER_00: Um, but I was reasonably happy with my bike, but it was a bit demoralizing.
[17:27] SPEAKER_00: Like every lap we would get um well you'd it's basically just an out and back, so you'd see the people in front of you, so you could kind of gauge off you know how much time people were putting into you or if you were gaining.
[17:37] SPEAKER_00: But Rico, every time I passed him, was just like I just kind of was a little bit gobsmacked by how much time he was putting into me.
[17:46] SPEAKER_00: But then I was like, he's putting time into everyone, it's not just me, right?
[17:50] SPEAKER_00: Like he was putting time into everyone.
[17:52] SPEAKER_00: Um, so I tried to just kind of remove that from my thought process and focus on the other guys, and and then yeah, on the run, just pretty flat.
[18:01] SPEAKER_00: I think the bike just took a lot out of me.
[18:03] SPEAKER_00: Like I rode pretty well, but maybe didn't quite have the time to prepare enough for that course, and then just the run, yeah, it was pretty flat, ran pretty poorly overall.
[18:13] SPEAKER_00: Um which is disappointing because I was I was speaking to you, Jack, and saying that I feel like I was doing like career best sessions in the two weeks leading in.
[18:22] SPEAKER_00: But I feel like since St.
[18:24] SPEAKER_00: Anthony's I didn't do like you kind of need a month, four to six weeks of that really good training, right?
[18:31] SPEAKER_00: Like you can't just do two really good weeks and think that it's gonna pan out into a really good performance.
[18:36] SPEAKER_00: So yeah, that was it, really.
[18:38] SPEAKER_01: Um couple things for me.
[18:40] SPEAKER_01: It's clear that the sprint finish at St.
[18:42] SPEAKER_01: Anthony's just took so much out of Apo.
[18:44] SPEAKER_01: He he he got sick, he can't even string together sessions, finally he gets his feet underneath him.
[18:51] SPEAKER_01: Now, we saw a another host of this show on the road to Oceanside running alongside you for a couple miles there on the run.
[18:59] SPEAKER_01: You and our good friend Justin Riale, R.I.P.
[19:02] SPEAKER_01: Tell us about that.
[19:03] SPEAKER_01: Did you exchange any words?
[19:06] SPEAKER_01: He he did fade after that.
[19:08] SPEAKER_01: Do you think he was running too hard?
[19:09] SPEAKER_01: What what what was being said?
[19:10] SPEAKER_01: And you had a penalty.
[19:12] SPEAKER_01: Were you ever nervous that this guy was gonna beat you to the finish line?
[19:15] SPEAKER_00: Um so yeah, we ran the first lap together, and he was breathing pretty hard, like but like I didn't know if he was like out of his comfort zone or what.
[19:24] SPEAKER_00: Um and it was still early, like the first lap.
[19:26] SPEAKER_00: But I I must be honest, it was really windy on the run.
[19:29] SPEAKER_00: So on the way out into the headwind, he just sat on me, right?
[19:33] SPEAKER_00: And so, and obviously getting a pretty big advantage.
[19:36] SPEAKER_00: And on the way back, we had the tailwind, and I was thinking to myself, I need to drop him before we go back into that headwind, right?
[19:43] SPEAKER_00: So I put in a bit of a dig, but I couldn't really shake him, and then I was starting to get like a little not worried, but I was like, oh man, like Justin's actually like running pretty well here.
[19:53] SPEAKER_00: Um, and then I did finally dispatch him, and then um I noticed I had a penalty after two out of the four laps, so 9k.
[20:02] SPEAKER_00: And I was like, oh shit, I got a 30-second stand down penalty.
[20:06] SPEAKER_00: Like Justin's gonna run past me, I'm gonna have to fucking drop him again.
[20:09] SPEAKER_00: He's gonna get a sniff of like you know, we're we're halfway through the run, he could you know lift, and this is his chance to beat me.
[20:16] SPEAKER_00: So I got into the penalty tent and I looked back and I couldn't even see him, and I was like, oh fuck, Justin like lost a lot of time in that second lap.
[20:24] SPEAKER_00: So I served that penalty and still got out of the um the penalty tent in front of him.
[20:29] SPEAKER_00: So um no, we didn't say anything, but we gave each other a bit of a high five, like when we were coming back with like 2k, 2.5k to go, um, like gave each other a bit of a high five to say good race.
[20:40] SPEAKER_00: And yeah, we had some you know, a bit of a chat after.
[20:43] SPEAKER_01: Well, and uh take you behind the scenes a little bit.
[20:45] SPEAKER_01: You know, Justin's texting me before the race, like uh, I kind of want to beat Apo.
[20:49] SPEAKER_01: Apo's kind of texting me, like, oh, you're not gonna beat Justin.
[20:51] SPEAKER_01: I'm just feeding them both the information, just like trying to start shit.
[20:55] SPEAKER_01: Just like, yo, dude, Apo, Justin's talking shit.
[20:58] SPEAKER_01: And then I'm like, Justin, yo, Apo, man, he really wants to beat you.
[21:01] SPEAKER_01: So I was trying to stir the pot a little bit, but the double agent.
[21:05] SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I'm a double agent.
[21:06] SPEAKER_01: You cannot trust me.
[21:07] SPEAKER_01: Don't send me text, guys.
[21:08] SPEAKER_01: Do not send me texts.
[21:10] SPEAKER_04: I like that as a potential new show nickname for you, Greg.
[21:13] SPEAKER_04: Greg the double agent.
[21:14] SPEAKER_04: Apo, Rico's performance, where does that rank for you in your entire career?
[21:20] SPEAKER_04: You've been around some of the best performances in the sport, like you know, South Africa 70.3 worlds with the showdown between Brown Lee, Gomez, and Fredino pops to mind.
[21:28] SPEAKER_04: Where does that performance from Rico sit in the best performance that you've witnessed live at a race that you've been a part of?
[21:36] SPEAKER_00: I definitely think it's up there.
[21:37] SPEAKER_00: And I knew he like I saw what he did last year, and um it's funny though, like it's a course that I wouldn't think would suit someone like Rico.
[21:46] SPEAKER_00: Like, he's a bigger guy, like it's I I would think it would m suit someone more like Hayden or Yeller or some like those smaller guys that also have like good power to w weight.
[21:57] SPEAKER_00: Like Rico obviously has phenomenal.
[22:00] SPEAKER_00: Powder weight as well, but as a taller dude, heavier dude, but yeah, he just like laid it down.
[22:05] SPEAKER_00: And I would say, yeah, it's gotta be up there.
[22:08] SPEAKER_00: Um, yeah, top top handful for sure, but um, yeah, just the way he just did exactly what he did last year, right?
[22:16] SPEAKER_00: Like everyone knew what he was gonna do, and they still couldn't stop him.
[22:21] SPEAKER_00: So, you know, it's pretty impressive.
[22:22] SPEAKER_04: And obviously, everyone's out there trying hard, but when you watched the broadcast and looked at it, Rico just looked to be riding harder, which is such like a dumb thing to say.
[22:34] SPEAKER_04: It's like, yeah, well, he wrote off the front.
[22:36] SPEAKER_04: Obviously, he was riding harder than everyone else.
[22:38] SPEAKER_04: But you know, when you can just kind of perceive effort level of people when they're on the climb or when they're in the TT position, you can just kind of see how much they're giving.
[22:48] SPEAKER_04: Rico was absolutely sprinting up that first climb a couple of times in a way that it was just more aggressive than than what you saw a lot of other people.
[22:57] SPEAKER_04: Like a lot of other people, when you would look at them on the camera, they were kind of seated.
[23:01] SPEAKER_04: Um, they were they were just surviving the climb a little bit.
[23:04] SPEAKER_04: Whereas Rico would like get out of the saddle, attack, get back in a seated, like kind of recover, get back out of the saddle and attack.
[23:11] SPEAKER_04: Like he was racing up it a few times.
[23:12] SPEAKER_04: It just it just looked a little different to every single other person on the course, except for probably Hayden on the first lap.
[23:19] SPEAKER_04: That was the the only other time that I saw an athlete who I thought like looked like he was giving as much as Rico up the climbs.
[23:25] SPEAKER_00: And I I'd imagine Rico was like, I'm gonna break these guys early, get, you know.
[23:30] SPEAKER_00: As soon as you give people a sniff, right?
[23:32] SPEAKER_00: Like if he gets through two or three laps, well he did, I guess he had Lasse Priester with him, but I'm sure it was like his main rival that I was thinking of was Hayden, right?
[23:42] SPEAKER_00: To get as much time on Hayden.
[23:44] SPEAKER_00: Um and yeah, he probably just wanted to establish that gap early, put the you know, sow the seeds of doubt early and just blow out that time gap, which is what he did.
[23:53] SPEAKER_00: And I was with Hayden on that first lap and pretty much got dropped straight away up that up that first hill.
[24:00] SPEAKER_00: Um but um yeah, like just super impressive.
[24:03] SPEAKER_00: And then to get off and run, like he still ran well, because I know Rico's run has been a bit hit and miss the last um I well this year has been going pretty well, but last year he'd lay down those big bike rides, but then often um, you know, blow up on the run.
[24:18] SPEAKER_00: But yeah, he had a good, yeah, just good solid run.
[24:21] SPEAKER_04: And you said that he's a bigger guy, but he's definitely skinnier the last like you know, 12 months.
[24:25] SPEAKER_04: He's quite skinny now.
[24:27] SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I reckon that's a purposeful thing by him.
[24:29] SPEAKER_07: With Rico, he there's two things for me.
[24:32] SPEAKER_07: The first is that he clearly loves San Francisco and the course there, and having won it last year, he's got this level of confidence that he can punch up those hills in a way, as Jack said, that he's like racing the hills and still run off it.
[24:49] SPEAKER_07: Whereas I think a lot of people feel that those surges, that real punchy way of riding is just so detrimental to your run legs that people kind of almost didn't do it.
[24:59] SPEAKER_07: Whereas Rico's like, I did it last year and I still ran really well, I'm gonna do it again.
[25:04] SPEAKER_07: Um, and the second thing is that he said well, it's actually two more things.
[25:09] SPEAKER_07: Last year, he actually said he found it easy until he broke away from everybody.
[25:12] SPEAKER_07: So I think that again makes him think, well, I can ride it harder than I did last year.
[25:16] SPEAKER_07: And the final thing is that he's been injured.
[25:19] SPEAKER_07: So he had a bit of a run injury, and he said that he thinks if anything, he's biking even better than he ever has done.
[25:24] SPEAKER_07: And I think that was just really evident.
[25:26] SPEAKER_07: It was someone who loves the course, is confident on the course, races the course in a way that no one else does, and is riding better than ever.
[25:33] SPEAKER_04: And he works with Philippe Sypr, right, who Sebastian Kinlay's coach, Laura Phillips' coach, and he is he's known for doing a lot of high-intensity bike intervals.
[25:43] SPEAKER_04: So, like a lot of VO2 max style bike intervals.
[25:46] SPEAKER_04: Not as big at prescribing, you know, an hour and a half at threshold as some other programs.
[25:52] SPEAKER_04: He's more inclined to prescribe, you know, 4020s, 30, 15s, one minute on, one minute off.
[25:57] SPEAKER_04: Like he does a lot of that really high-intensity cycling very regularly, year-round in his program.
[26:03] SPEAKER_04: And I feel like that kind of stuff really helps you on a punchy cycling course like this.
[26:08] SPEAKER_04: I don't think it helps you as much on like a you know a classic North American 70.3 where they're a bit flatter, a bit more time trial heavy.
[26:16] SPEAKER_04: But on a course like this, or what we saw at Majorca last year, I feel like because of the way he trains on the bike, it really does suit him.
[26:24] SPEAKER_00: And his power, like I know last year there was um talks of his power at like 390 something watts, right?
[26:31] SPEAKER_00: Like it's pretty insane numbers.
[26:34] SPEAKER_00: Um, my power was um, and this is going off Garmin because Strava kind of gives me a tax for some reason.
[26:42] SPEAKER_00: My training peaks power was 312 at um San Francisco, and um yeah, I feel like like that's good power for me for a two-hour ride.
[26:52] SPEAKER_00: Like it's basically the equivalent of a 70.3 ride because it's so hilly, even though it's 80k, like it's still it was still a two-hour, what did I ride, like 202 or something?
[27:02] SPEAKER_00: Um, so yeah, like 312 is high power for me for a 70.3 two-hour bike ride.
[27:09] SPEAKER_04: So I think Vicky said on commentary that he averaged 375 watts last year.
[27:13] SPEAKER_07: I think that's what I think that's what we we got.
[27:15] SPEAKER_07: Yeah, that was was that average or normalized?
[27:17] SPEAKER_07: I can't remember, because obviously one's higher than the other, and I can't remember which one we read out, but yeah.
[27:21] SPEAKER_04: I messaged Rico after the race and said, like, what what power did you push?
[27:25] SPEAKER_04: And he said that he would only tell me if I promise not to tell anyone because he doesn't want to give away his power numbers this year.
[27:30] SPEAKER_04: So I can't say it.
[27:32] SPEAKER_04: I just want you to guess.
[27:33] SPEAKER_04: Would it have been higher or lower than 375 watts average?
[27:37] SPEAKER_07: I think higher.
[27:38] SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna say higher because if he said last year it was easy until he broke away.
[27:42] SPEAKER_07: Yeah, that's my theory of it.
[27:44] SPEAKER_01: And you were saying something about looking at the the riders when they're riding.
[27:48] SPEAKER_01: I mean, I was like getting flashes of Pagaccha.
[27:51] SPEAKER_01: Like, you know, he's out of the saddle, he sits, he attacks again.
[27:54] SPEAKER_01: Like he was just riding so like on top of his pedals, you could just see the speed he was going up the hills.
[28:00] SPEAKER_01: And it's like, you know, when you have those days, and there's a lot of athletes on the show, and you guys have them, when it feels great to push, and you're like, oh yeah, I feel good, I can keep going.
[28:09] SPEAKER_01: That's what Rico looked like on the day.
[28:11] SPEAKER_01: Like it just it seemed like he felt so good just attacking the climbs, and it's the sixth lap, and he's still doing it.
[28:17] SPEAKER_01: I'm like, this guy is killing it.
[28:19] SPEAKER_01: I mean, the the amount of time he put into everyone five minutes into Hayden.
[28:24] SPEAKER_07: Five minutes into Hayden.
[28:25] SPEAKER_01: Like seven minutes into like the the other crew of of guys who are all when you put them in a regional 70.3, they ride at the front.
[28:34] SPEAKER_01: And this guy fucked them up.
[28:37] SPEAKER_01: He crushed Apo.
[28:39] SPEAKER_01: Um, but anyway, it just it was it was such an impressive ride by Rico.
[28:43] SPEAKER_01: And it was actually pretty fun to watch.
[28:44] SPEAKER_01: I just was like, dang, how is he putting so much power into the pedals?
[28:48] SPEAKER_01: I found I found myself like almost trying to analyze his cycling like form and his his heel down just because it was it was so unique and um yeah, powerful to watch.
[28:58] SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I definitely agree with that.
[29:00] SPEAKER_04: Like if you look at everyone else, like Lasse Nygard Priester is the exception.
[29:04] SPEAKER_04: Like, we got to talk about him.
[29:06] SPEAKER_04: Like what I I guess the course favors someone like that.
[29:09] SPEAKER_04: Super light, high power to weight, like definitely wouldn't have been pushing 375 watts to get that speed, and would make up a lot on the field on the climb.
[29:18] SPEAKER_04: So clearly a great climber.
[29:19] SPEAKER_04: But yes, Hayden was sick, but he rides two hours, so five minutes slower than Rico.
[29:24] SPEAKER_04: And then if you look at like everyone else, Morgan Pearson, Jason West, Jake Bertwistle, Kurt McDonald, um, all the way down to probably Justin and Apo, they would all ride front group at every North American 70.3, probably most European 70.3s.
[29:40] SPEAKER_04: Like there is something crazy unique about this course and and that performance by by Rico, and I guess to a lesser extent, Lassie.
[29:46] SPEAKER_04: Like it just was it was abnormally good.
[29:49] SPEAKER_00: Justin has the well had the course record at Oceanside up until a few months ago, right?
[29:54] SPEAKER_00: So like Justin was the fastest man to ever ride at Oceanside, and he lost seven minutes.
[30:01] SPEAKER_01: Course record!
[30:02] SPEAKER_00: He lost seven minutes to Rico, or six minutes to Rico, you know?
[30:05] SPEAKER_00: It's um yeah, just to put it into perspective.
[30:08] SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and Benjamin Zorgnotti's been riding off the front of North American 70.3's recording.
[30:12] SPEAKER_00: Ben Zorgnotti?
[30:13] SPEAKER_00: Benjamin Zorgnotti has the second fastest ever, ever recorded 70.3 bike time.
[30:20] SPEAKER_04: And he rode 205 10 minutes slower than Rico.
[30:24] SPEAKER_04: That's the second fastest, number two on the world record list behind Sam Long.
[30:28] SPEAKER_07: I mean, I think we have to hold space for the fact that it might not have been Zorgnotti's best day, people's champ and all that.
[30:34] SPEAKER_07: He might not have been uh on his absolute A game that day.
[30:38] SPEAKER_02: But yeah, I mean it's still 10 minutes.
[30:40] SPEAKER_07: It's still 10 minutes, you are right there, and yeah, what a day from Rico.
[30:44] SPEAKER_07: But you you again, you're right, Jack.
[30:46] SPEAKER_07: Lassie Priester.
[30:48] SPEAKER_07: I think a lot of people were sleeping on Lassie Priester before the race, and I don't mean that just in terms of people in the trath on community.
[30:56] SPEAKER_07: I mean, even you know, the people I was speaking to in broadcast in the days beforehand, I was like, Have we got any VTs um videos on on Lassie?
[31:03] SPEAKER_07: Are we is he gonna has he done an interview?
[31:05] SPEAKER_07: Are we are we are we inserting that in the race?
[31:08] SPEAKER_07: And they were like, no.
[31:09] SPEAKER_07: I'm like, this guy, like, watch this guy, he's gonna come.
[31:13] SPEAKER_07: And I thought he would come through on the run.
[31:15] SPEAKER_07: I thought he would be essentially someone who maybe raced with Morgan and like they had a real head-to-head on the run.
[31:22] SPEAKER_07: Like that was kind of where I thought he would be at.
[31:24] SPEAKER_07: I knew he'd be there at the swim.
[31:25] SPEAKER_07: I've I've I've known him as a short short course athlete for years.
[31:30] SPEAKER_07: Um, but the way he rode, I mean, he hot held on to Rico for what was it, about two laps.
[31:36] SPEAKER_07: And at that point, you kind of thought, all right, he's pop now.
[31:39] SPEAKER_07: He's gonna get swallowed up into the pack, he's maybe he's he's just gone all in and this is a bit of a problem for him now.
[31:45] SPEAKER_07: He didn't.
[31:45] SPEAKER_07: Yes, okay, he still lost time to Rico, but he still took time out of every other person on the on the race course.
[31:54] SPEAKER_07: It was absolutely extraordinary.
[31:55] SPEAKER_07: And then, yeah, I I think it probably dampened his run a little bit.
[31:59] SPEAKER_07: It wasn't the same Lassi Priester that we've seen run the 66s and the 67 lows in the half marathon races and the half Iron Man's he's done.
[32:07] SPEAKER_07: But it was still an incredibly well-rounded performance from someone who is really still quite new to like generally middle distance non-draft racing.
[32:16] SPEAKER_01: He's just so under the radar, and it's it's funny because I consider myself what was that?
[32:24] SPEAKER_01: Excuse me.
[32:25] SPEAKER_01: It's an amber alert, isn't it?
[32:26] SPEAKER_01: Yeah, sorry about that.
[32:28] SPEAKER_01: Lassie is so under the radar, because I you know, I could I what the fuck?
[32:35] SPEAKER_06: Can we just leave this in?
[32:36] SPEAKER_06: What is it?
[32:37] SPEAKER_06: I don't even know what that is.
[32:38] SPEAKER_00: I'd never mind an amber alert is where like people in the US wouldn't know, but it's it's where your phone goes in.
[32:47] SPEAKER_01: Umassie is crazy under the radar, and I follow the sport quite closely, even short course, and honestly, I don't really know who this guy is.
[32:59] SPEAKER_01: And you know, I've and he's been quite good his whole career.
[33:03] SPEAKER_01: And you know, I was chatting with Vicky before and she was like, Oh, what about Lassie?
[33:06] SPEAKER_01: You kind of missed him.
[33:07] SPEAKER_01: I said, Nah man, Mickey Mouse European run courses like this guy, he the Americans will outrun him, he's not gonna feature.
[33:14] SPEAKER_01: And she was 100% right.
[33:16] SPEAKER_01: What what a surprise.
[33:18] SPEAKER_01: And uh yeah, I just yeah, you know, go out there and show him some love on socials because I feel like he's really under the radar, but he's quite a great athlete.
[33:25] SPEAKER_01: And obviously, you knew as you guys touched on on the broadcast, coming back from that that heart stuff too, and yeah, just it's it's good to see him kind of back in the sport.
[33:33] SPEAKER_01: But yeah, he's uh he's under the radar, but maybe not for long.
[33:36] SPEAKER_06: Yeah, not for long.
[33:37] SPEAKER_04: This is what the Germans do.
[33:38] SPEAKER_04: There's always one of them.
[33:39] SPEAKER_04: Rico was this exact German just two years ago, you know, like he's just another German who's finished on the podium of a big race who we had no idea who he was.
[33:48] SPEAKER_04: A lot of Germans will be like screaming at you, Greg, being like, There's no way the Americans are gonna outrun him, which they did, by the way, but he did ride a bit harder.
[33:55] SPEAKER_04: And of course, this just happens every 12 months.
[33:58] SPEAKER_04: Next year there'll be another German.
[33:59] SPEAKER_04: The one after that, there'll be another German.
[34:01] SPEAKER_04: Get used to it.
[34:02] SPEAKER_04: It's uh this is what Trithlon is.
[34:03] SPEAKER_04: And Hayden Wilde in third, he actually had a really good race despite the fact he was sick.
[34:08] SPEAKER_04: You messaged the group, um, I don't know whether it was the group or me privately, Vicky, but like literally 30 30, 60 minutes before the race and said, no one knows if Hayden's actually starting yet because he was he was just like leaving it as late as he could to make the call on whether he started or not based on sickness.
[34:24] SPEAKER_04: Um so maybe to both of you, like you in you in your uh behind the scenes knowledge, Vicky, and you Apo, who was there with him on site, did he actually seem like he was really sick?
[34:34] SPEAKER_04: How like seriously should we take this result?
[34:36] SPEAKER_04: Like how far off his best was he?
[34:38] SPEAKER_00: He he was I could hear him coughing, like in the race briefing, he was coughing.
[34:43] SPEAKER_00: Even on the um on the ferry going out to the race start, like he was coughing and like fake um fake like like you could tell he wasn't at a hundred percent, right?
[34:54] SPEAKER_00: And um yeah, I think like still pretty good to rally for third.
[35:00] SPEAKER_00: Obviously, he would want more, but does a healthy Hayden Wilde challenge Rico in that race?
[35:08] SPEAKER_00: Or do you think Rico still still wins?
[35:10] SPEAKER_00: Like that's I'm I'm I mean that's just a hypothetical, right?
[35:13] SPEAKER_00: Like you can only but I you know I'm inclined to think that Rico still beats Hayden in if Hayden was even healthy.
[35:22] SPEAKER_07: I think I think it would be the closest we've come to a really good battle with Hayden being healthy.
[35:27] SPEAKER_07: I think that would have been pretty exciting because I think he wouldn't have had it all his own way coming from behind and stuff, but equally, I guess, would he have been behind?
[35:35] SPEAKER_07: He was a minute down at the water, and that I think was just a tell of he's not particularly well.
[35:40] SPEAKER_07: And um, yeah, when I messaged you, Jack, I hadn't heard from Hayden.
[35:44] SPEAKER_07: I had reached out to him to sort of ask how he was doing, and I'd said I was like, if there's stuff you don't want me to say, I won't say it.
[35:50] SPEAKER_07: Like, you are you gonna start?
[35:52] SPEAKER_07: Like, we're hearing things that maybe you're not well enough.
[35:54] SPEAKER_07: And he actually um he got back to me while he was on the ferry.
[35:59] SPEAKER_07: So there you all are in the build-up to the pre-race.
[36:03] SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
[36:03] SPEAKER_07: And he sent me a video and it's like ferry vibes, and it's just like everyone in the background just like getting ready to race.
[36:10] SPEAKER_07: And so he answered all my little, you know, pre-race questions.
[36:13] SPEAKER_07: Must have been about 45 minutes before he was about to start.
[36:16] SPEAKER_07: So that was the first time I knew for sure he was gonna start.
[36:20] SPEAKER_07: And I mean, when I got to the office in the morning, um, the first thing I said was, Do we know if Hayden's racing?
[36:25] SPEAKER_07: And they were all like, Well, he's not said he's not racing, so we think he is racing.
[36:29] SPEAKER_07: But yeah, I think there was genuine concern because of his health status that he just wouldn't start.
[36:34] SPEAKER_01: Uh, one more thing on Hayden, because last year Apo was gonna line up to a T100 race, and we had been a little bit critical on the pod.
[36:41] SPEAKER_01: So we're like, hmm, what's the what's that dynamic between Apo and Hayden gonna be in person?
[36:46] SPEAKER_01: So Apo, let's ask you, did you talk to Hayden?
[36:49] SPEAKER_01: Are you guys best friends or are you scared of him?
[36:52] SPEAKER_00: I um I said good race.
[36:55] SPEAKER_00: I said hello to him in the lift.
[36:57] SPEAKER_00: Um I actually did, and I maybe I you know froze up a bit, but I wanted to I wanted to bury the hatchet and extend the olive branch.
[37:05] SPEAKER_00: But every I feel like every time I saw him, he was like on a you know, he was preoccupied or doing something like else, and I didn't want to I didn't want to distract him, you know, I didn't want to piss him off any more than I already have.
[37:18] SPEAKER_07: Yeah, half by the moment to say what you wanted to say, was that what you're saying?
[37:21] SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, exactly.
[37:25] SPEAKER_00: But you know I feel like Hayden and I are good, like we're both, you know, Australia and New Zealand, he knows I'm just taking the piss, he knows it's all fun and games, I think.
[37:36] SPEAKER_04: You're both gorgeous people.
[37:38] SPEAKER_04: There's a gorgeous relationship that will be had in there in the future, no doubt about it.
[37:41] SPEAKER_04: I wouldn't stress too much.
[37:42] SPEAKER_04: And it was largely Greg who was critical anyway, so don't worry.
[37:45] SPEAKER_04: And then some some other shout-outs.
[37:47] SPEAKER_04: Morgan Pearson in fourth, Jason West in fifth.
[37:50] SPEAKER_04: I would say Morgan probably walks away from the day disappointed, and Jason probably walks away from the day on top of the moon, which is quite funny given that Morgan beat him by one place.
[38:00] SPEAKER_04: Like, I think an exceptional performance from Jason West, given how he's gone in San Francisco in the past, where there was jokes after the race whether Jason was still like on the bike course.
[38:10] SPEAKER_04: Like athletes were saying, like, oh, does anyone know if Jason finished the bike course yet?
[38:14] SPEAKER_04: Once they finished the race, to turn that level of performance around on this course to then finish fifth in a race as strong as this, I thought was out of this world good and well done to Jason West.
[38:24] SPEAKER_04: Whereas Morgan Pearson probably went to that race wanting to win, so force probably a little bit of a disappointment.
[38:29] SPEAKER_07: I don't know, because I think I mean, whilst I mean, actually, okay, I totally agree regarding Jason.
[38:35] SPEAKER_07: I think that was a really great performance from him.
[38:37] SPEAKER_07: I think he's had a little bit of a rougher one to two years, probably.
[38:41] SPEAKER_07: Um, but I know he said he's worked incredibly hard to bring his bike level up because that's where he's been exposed before, as you touched on.
[38:49] SPEAKER_07: So fair play he's clearly done that.
[38:52] SPEAKER_07: With Morgan, though, I actually think Morgan would have been relatively satisfied because he has had that injury.
[38:58] SPEAKER_07: Like he's not, I don't think he feels that he's absolutely a hundred percent where he needs to be yet.
[39:04] SPEAKER_07: First race of the season as well, whereas virtually everybody else had raced like multiple times.
[39:10] SPEAKER_07: He was the only one, I think, I think he was the only one on there who hadn't raced yet this year.
[39:14] SPEAKER_07: So I think I don't know, maybe maybe he is a bit disappointed, but I I still thought that was pretty good, pretty solid from him to start the year.
[39:21] SPEAKER_00: He didn't ride that well though.
[39:23] SPEAKER_07: Yeah, he did.
[39:23] SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he said he had an adductor injury that kept him off the TT bike, so he's only been on the TT bike like for a handful of weeks.
[39:30] SPEAKER_00: But I still think, like and yes, I know Morgan knows this, like he but man, like if he could just improve his bike a little bit, like he I'm not saying he needs to be like Rico level, but like if he could just improve it to like um to where like Kurt McDonald and that were riding, like he'd be unstopped.
[39:53] SPEAKER_00: Because he's his swim is great and he's generally post the fastest run, um, you know, maybe pretty equal with Hayden, but yeah, if he if he could just bring that bike up, like he'd be so good.
[40:03] SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but he did do that last year.
[40:05] SPEAKER_01: Like when he started the year, he was okay, and by the end of the year, he was pretty good.
[40:10] SPEAKER_01: He's basically riding in the group that was not Hayden, and he then he won a T-100 race.
[40:15] SPEAKER_01: So, I mean, if you put Kurt and Jake against where Morgan was last year, Morgan would dominate them.
[40:21] SPEAKER_01: Like Morgan is the top three T100 athlete on his day.
[40:25] SPEAKER_01: Like he he showed that last year.
[40:27] SPEAKER_01: He won a race for God's sake.
[40:29] SPEAKER_01: I mean, it was there was counting involved, but like he he it he already is done, he already has done that.
[40:35] SPEAKER_07: He won it through great counting.
[40:36] SPEAKER_04: He did win the inaugural T95.
[40:38] SPEAKER_04: That's for sure.
[40:39] SPEAKER_00: I'm not saying he's not good, but I'm just saying like if he could lift it, he'd be almost like unstoppable.
[40:47] SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I know what you're saying, Apple.
[40:48] SPEAKER_04: It's a compliment what you're saying.
[40:50] SPEAKER_04: It's not a neg what you're saying towards him.
[40:51] SPEAKER_04: And that's the same with me saying he's disappointed.
[40:54] SPEAKER_04: I would like I think Morgan knows that he's close to the best.
[40:57] SPEAKER_04: I don't think he's one of those guys who is like quietly good and and doesn't have ego and thinks like, oh, everyone's better than me, but he's competitive with him.
[41:06] SPEAKER_04: I think Morgan knows he's one of the best.
[41:08] SPEAKER_04: I think in his head he probably thinks he can be the very best, and he might already think he is the best.
[41:13] SPEAKER_04: And I kind of agree.
[41:14] SPEAKER_04: Like, I think that there's a world where he does win a 70.3 world championships or could win a race like a T100 race again this year.
[41:21] SPEAKER_04: I think he's that level of athlete.
[41:23] SPEAKER_04: And so fourth for most people in a race like this, like if you got fourth out there on the weekend appo, we'd be like, that is the best performance of your career.
[41:30] SPEAKER_04: That was out of this world.
[41:32] SPEAKER_04: But I don't, I don't know, we just have high expectations of Morgan, and I I almost guarantee you he has the same expectations of himself.
[41:39] SPEAKER_07: Should we touch on Leo?
[41:41] SPEAKER_07: You know, I think Leo has had the roughest sort of 18 months or so, with which started with I think an Achilles problem he'd had before the season even began in 2025.
[41:52] SPEAKER_07: Then obviously diagnosed with a benign tumour on his spine, which caused all sorts of problems throughout the season, couldn't put power down on the bike, could barely sit in a chair, I think at times.
[42:03] SPEAKER_07: And then over the off-season, he's then got this knee problem as well.
[42:08] SPEAKER_07: And I mean, it's totally bonkers, but he'd barely done any run training before he went out to San Francisco.
[42:15] SPEAKER_07: But he was desperate to start racing and get a score on the board.
[42:18] SPEAKER_07: And because he had started running again, he decided that you know three weeks of running was enough and he was gonna have a stab at it and hopefully get a score on the board.
[42:28] SPEAKER_07: And you know, for sort of two-thirds of the race, it looked like actually he was gonna pull it off.
[42:32] SPEAKER_07: And even at the start of the run, he was running with Morgan, I think, and then started to fade.
[42:37] SPEAKER_07: And unfortunately, when the wheels came off, they came off pretty badly for Leo.
[42:41] SPEAKER_07: But yeah, what a what a run of kind of injury and bad luck he's had, but just such a phenomenal athlete.
[42:50] SPEAKER_07: But what's he gonna be able to do when we get him finally fit and healthy again?
[42:54] SPEAKER_04: Will he get fit and healthy again?
[42:55] SPEAKER_07: Well, I think the so the thing with his tumour, by all accounts, at the moment it is it's shrunk a little bit and it has become manageable, so he can put power down again on the bike.
[43:07] SPEAKER_07: That is unknown in terms of is it gonna stay like that, is it gonna grow, is it gonna do anything?
[43:12] SPEAKER_07: We don't know, and it cannot be um cannot have surgery on it because of where it is, the positioning of it.
[43:18] SPEAKER_07: So that is a real issue, of course.
[43:21] SPEAKER_07: Um, his knee problem, unless it is of course, you know, directly related as a knock-on to this spinal issue that he's got, you would think that that is gonna resolve and his Achilles problem will resolve.
[43:35] SPEAKER_07: And so at that point, you're looking at a pretty scarily fit Leo again, but all the pieces have got to come together for that to happen.
[43:43] SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
[43:43] SPEAKER_00: I was really impressed with his um bike ride.
[43:46] SPEAKER_00: He had the third fastest bike, like you like he served a minute penalty, so if you take a minute off his bike time, he had the third fastest bike.
[43:53] SPEAKER_07: And he rode back up.
[43:54] SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
[43:55] SPEAKER_00: So um yeah.
[43:57] SPEAKER_00: I think hopefully he'll be back because you know we know.
[44:00] SPEAKER_00: How good he is, but I was speaking to him a little bit, he's focusing he's trying to do another Olympic cycle.
[44:06] SPEAKER_00: Um so yeah, he'll be he'll be back in the WTCS racing scene as well.
[44:12] SPEAKER_00: Um, so yeah, good luck to him.
[44:14] SPEAKER_00: We hope we hope he gets back to his uh to his best.
[44:17] SPEAKER_07: And without wishing to make this a real Aussie heavy podcast, Jake Burtwistle and Kurt McDonald, I thought were both actually really quite good.
[44:27] SPEAKER_07: I was really impressed with Kurt McDonald, especially when he started running through the field with Morgan.
[44:32] SPEAKER_07: I thought the ball's on this guy, fair play.
[44:34] SPEAKER_07: Like he absolutely went for it, didn't he?
[44:36] SPEAKER_07: I mean, he did fade a little bit again towards the end, but I thought it was a really complete performance from him.
[44:42] SPEAKER_07: And uh Jake Burtwistle, again, he'd said to me beforehand, he didn't think this was his course.
[44:48] SPEAKER_07: Uh, just in terms of again, the punchy nature of the bike, he said for where he's at, even though he's made really big improvements on the TT bike, he felt that the more sort of controlled flat courses were his bag right now.
[45:02] SPEAKER_07: So he knew that that kind of punchy nature on the bike was gonna take its toll.
[45:06] SPEAKER_07: But again, he held in there the whole bike and get pretty good for a lot of the run before he started to fade a little bit.
[45:12] SPEAKER_07: But again, I thought he was I thought he was solid.
[45:14] SPEAKER_01: No, just two out two out of the three Aussies deliver, you know.
[45:17] SPEAKER_01: That's good to see.
[45:19] SPEAKER_01: Two out of three.
[45:20] SPEAKER_04: We don't claim Sam Appleton anymore.
[45:22] SPEAKER_04: If Apple had a good had a good performance on the weekend, we'd be claiming him.
[45:25] SPEAKER_04: But he's he's he's an American at this point.
[45:27] SPEAKER_04: Um so for the two Australians who raced in, Jake and Kurt, yeah, I was super impressed.
[45:31] SPEAKER_04: Great people too.
[45:32] SPEAKER_04: Jake and Kurt are just two of the best people.
[45:34] SPEAKER_04: They're so nice.
[45:35] SPEAKER_04: Um, so it's good to see good people having good things happen to them in their lives.
[45:40] SPEAKER_04: I think that it's kind of Kurt still has a lot of ability to improve where he is in his triathlon career.
[45:46] SPEAKER_04: I think he's gonna do some pretty big things over the next four or five years.
[45:50] SPEAKER_04: I think Jake's like kind of at the other end of things.
[45:53] SPEAKER_04: He's still gonna have a few good performances over the next two years.
[45:56] SPEAKER_04: Um, I'm just yeah, I would like to know what his plans are.
[46:00] SPEAKER_04: Like, does he want to go and do Iron Man?
[46:01] SPEAKER_04: Does he want to give Cona a crack?
[46:03] SPEAKER_04: Is he just gonna keep doing some 70.3s and T-100 races?
[46:07] SPEAKER_04: I'm I'm very curious where he's gonna be over the next two years because I do feel like if he picks his races right, he can win quite a few races over the next year or two.
[46:14] SPEAKER_04: He's racing at a super high level, um, but maybe not high enough to quite win a T-100 race or like a 70.3 World Championships, but but to always finish in the top 10.
[46:24] SPEAKER_04: He's just one of those guys right now.
[46:34] SPEAKER_04: Nerdbelts was born out of necessity by pro triathlete Steve McKenna, who discovered that proper hydration and fueling were critical to his success.
[46:41] SPEAKER_04: But the problem was that traditional fuel belts were really, really frustrating to use.
[46:46] SPEAKER_04: Steve went from struggling to finish his Iron Man races to all of a sudden winning multiple Iron Man events by increasing his fluid intake.
[46:53] SPEAKER_04: So he knew he had to come up with a better way than just tucking a Gatorade bottle down his tri-suit because it was so important to his performance.
[47:00] SPEAKER_04: Next minute, his sister sewed together his belt idea.
[47:03] SPEAKER_04: And when people saw his little DIY belt during uh his victory at Iron Man Australia, demand for it kind of exploded in in Australian Trithon.
[47:11] SPEAKER_04: And what started as a belt for him and only him that was not for sale to the public quickly grew a bit of a cult-like following down in Australian Trithon.
[47:20] SPEAKER_04: And within a few years, nerdbelts has probably become the belt that most pro triathletes trust and race in, like Sam Long, Jason West, Jake Burt Whistle, Joe Skipper, Jamie Riddle, Ari Clow, and heaps more.
[47:33] SPEAKER_04: All people whose run is probably their strength, if anything, um, or very close to most of those people being um the strength of their runs.
[47:41] SPEAKER_04: So yeah, and and I think a good part of this story of Nerd Belts is that Steve then reluctantly stepped away from racing to fully focus on refining the nerd belt product, using all of the customer feedback to create a new generation belt that's taken no bounce at any pace you run in to the next level, whether you're a male, a female, whether you're fast, whether you're not as fast.
[48:03] SPEAKER_04: They really have refined the nerd belt to not bounce for anyone where you wear it.
[48:08] SPEAKER_04: The solution is that there's now a practical, high-performance solution to your fueling and hydrating during race day, or even just like your training needs, like carrying your phone as well and some and some car keys and that kind of thing.
[48:22] SPEAKER_04: They all the belts you can carry 600 mil of fluid, you can put your phone in them, you can put six plus gels, is my experience.
[48:29] SPEAKER_04: Um I've I've also fit my key, my dog poo bags in there at the same time as all of this.
[48:34] SPEAKER_04: And you don't even notice it really.
[48:35] SPEAKER_04: Like you maybe do like 1% for the start of the run, but before long, you literally don't notice the nerd belts on your hips at all.
[48:43] SPEAKER_04: It kind of just blends in.
[48:44] SPEAKER_04: Um, it's all it really has become a really refined product in 2026.
[48:48] SPEAKER_04: And and I think a big thing in Trithlon now is that fueling on every run is how you can train more consistently and avoid like the fatigue and and rid the fluid combination as well, the dehydration that can derail performance day in, day out in training.
[49:02] SPEAKER_04: So rather than riding the roller coaster of sometimes feeling great, sometimes feeling shit, nerd belts really does help you recover quickly and so that you feel better, not only in that session that you're doing, but the next day and the next day and the next day.
[49:15] SPEAKER_04: So if you want to get yourself a nerdbelt, I highly recommend it.
[49:18] SPEAKER_04: They're so good for training, they're probably even better for racing.
[49:22] SPEAKER_04: Um, use the discount code TTH26 for 15% off when you do buy anything from Nerdbelts on their website.
[49:28] SPEAKER_04: And all the details for that, the discount code, the website, etc., uh in today's show notes.
[49:41] SPEAKER_01: I just wanted to say, like, all right, I guess I'll I'll just dive into it.
[49:44] SPEAKER_01: Now look here we go.
[49:46] SPEAKER_01: The first escape from Alcatraz, they literally jumped off a boat, had to swim to the little beach on Alcatraz, just a bunch of idiots swimming to shore, biking over the Golden Gate Bridge, and doing the double dipsy, which is a thousand stairs straight up and straight down.
[50:01] SPEAKER_01: That's like the history of this race.
[50:03] SPEAKER_01: Now, I turn on the T-100, and people know I was like talking kind of smack before the race.
[50:08] SPEAKER_01: They're like treacherous currents.
[50:09] SPEAKER_01: I'm like, the treacherous current part is you have to cross the current, not get dropped off on the edge along the shore.
[50:15] SPEAKER_01: It's like that's why I'm gonna get so fired up about this race.
[50:19] SPEAKER_01: And my buddy texts me, he's like, I love how much rage you have about this race.
[50:23] SPEAKER_01: And I'm just like, it just, you know, my dad did the original one.
[50:27] SPEAKER_01: Like the history of this race, it's just like it is so iconic and amazing.
[50:32] SPEAKER_01: And then that when when I see and I hear them hype up Escape from Alcatraz and their rich history and tradition, and they're not even doing like the roots of it, it just like pisses me off, and I can't shut my mouth about it.
[50:45] SPEAKER_01: So I I the T100, I thought the broadcast and the pictures of the race and the scenes of San Francisco was actually one of the best broadcasts visually I've ever seen.
[50:54] SPEAKER_01: I thought they did an amazing job, but I still think they don't have the the history and like the culture of what it meant to just show up in 1978 and jump off a boat without a wetsuit and swim to shore and go biking, because that's what all these people were doing, and that's kind of the history of this sport in this location.
[51:12] SPEAKER_01: So um that's why I get so fired up because uh to me they don't embody that, but then they play it up like they do.
[51:19] SPEAKER_04: So just to be clear, Greg, because I don't know, it's a bit hazy in my mind.
[51:22] SPEAKER_04: You don't like the San Francisco course that the T100 are doing, or you like it?
[51:27] SPEAKER_04: I just it wasn't quite clear enough to me whether you whether you like orange.
[51:30] SPEAKER_01: Are you trying to like get me riled up?
[51:33] SPEAKER_01: I I thought the pictures of the San Fran were really good.
[51:36] SPEAKER_01: The bike course is good.
[51:37] SPEAKER_04: Vicky, should we move on to uh Iron Man Hamburg?
[51:39] SPEAKER_04: You're our local European and women's racing expert.
[51:42] SPEAKER_04: Very local.
[51:42] SPEAKER_04: Greg knows nothing about the women's racing or nothing about what happens in Europe.
[51:46] SPEAKER_04: So we're relying on you heavily here.
[51:48] SPEAKER_06: Wow.
[51:49] SPEAKER_07: That's no pressure for the Iron Man broadcast all day on Sunday this week.
[51:53] SPEAKER_01: Um how manometers was the run?
[51:56] SPEAKER_01: 39?
[51:57] SPEAKER_07: Many.
[51:58] SPEAKER_07: Many, many, many kilometers.
[52:00] SPEAKER_07: Um, okay.
[52:01] SPEAKER_04: Where did their boat drop them off anymore?
[52:03] SPEAKER_07: Then they had to wade in into the river of Ulster, been in there as well.
[52:07] SPEAKER_07: It's not very nice.
[52:08] SPEAKER_07: Do you want me to do a brief rundown?
[52:10] SPEAKER_07: Shall I have a brief synopsis and then we can go into the people a bit more afterwards?
[52:16] SPEAKER_06: Love it.
[52:16] SPEAKER_07: Uh so in the swim, very quickly, there were five girls that got away.
[52:22] SPEAKER_07: Lottie Wilms uh led it out from the start, Holly Lawrence behind her, and then there was Fanella Langridge, Charlotte McShane, and uh Kate Curran.
[52:32] SPEAKER_07: They were the five.
[52:33] SPEAKER_07: Uh, then it was Holly Lawrence that she took over for the vast majority of the swim.
[52:38] SPEAKER_07: And then Lottie Wilms kind of led them back in at the finish, and then they had a few minutes over everybody else.
[52:43] SPEAKER_07: And then the next pack was Marjoline Pierre.
[52:46] SPEAKER_07: She was three minutes back, but she took 30 seconds back out in just transition alone.
[52:52] SPEAKER_07: Um, she was just with one other athlete, and then there was another gap of about a minute and a half back to Laura Phillip, Lisa Pertera, Solvay, India Lee, and a group of others uh onto the bike.
[53:05] SPEAKER_07: It was Marjalaine, who essentially ripped through, caught the front of the race by about, I think about 35k in.
[53:13] SPEAKER_07: Uh, she took to the lead and was never caught again.
[53:16] SPEAKER_07: Solvay slowly but surely caught up from behind.
[53:20] SPEAKER_07: She went into T2 only about 30 seconds down on Marjalaine.
[53:24] SPEAKER_07: Um, Holly Lawrence was kind of going the other way, started off at the front and kind of ended up going backwards a little bit into T2.
[53:32] SPEAKER_07: You had Laura Phillip, who rode with Solvay for a good portion of the race before starting to fall back a bit as well.
[53:40] SPEAKER_07: She ended up riding into T2 with Indy Lee.
[53:43] SPEAKER_07: And in the middle of all of that, you also had Lisa Pertra.
[53:46] SPEAKER_07: Big mover of the day was Katherine Grossbore Christensen, who moved up a phenomenal amount of places on the bike.
[53:52] SPEAKER_07: I think she came out the water 10 minutes down, came after lap one, had got herself up to eighth and then was fifth off the bike, and then ran a 245 marathon for third.
[54:02] SPEAKER_07: But up in front, of course, Solvay, who'd come off the bike just 30 seconds behind Marjolin, was at the front of the race within a couple of kilometres and was never seen again, ran away for the victory.
[54:13] SPEAKER_07: And in second, it was Laura Phillip who ran another 242 marathon on a day where she looked cold and still probably not at her best, but still won a 242.
[54:25] SPEAKER_07: So those were your podium girls, and then we can probably dive into it in a bit more detail now.
[54:30] SPEAKER_04: A few things.
[54:31] SPEAKER_04: So Laura Phillip was in hospital only, you know.
[54:34] SPEAKER_04: What would that be?
[54:35] SPEAKER_04: That would be like six to eight weeks ago, it feels like in my mind, right now.
[54:38] SPEAKER_07: Yeah, I checked.
[54:39] SPEAKER_07: I checked on her Instagram and the post she put on was the 27th of April.
[54:43] SPEAKER_04: What was she in hospital for?
[54:45] SPEAKER_04: What do we know?
[54:46] SPEAKER_04: What happened?
[54:46] SPEAKER_07: She hasn't said other than stomach and back pain and that she was kept in.
[54:50] SPEAKER_07: So we don't know exactly what it was.
[54:52] SPEAKER_07: I mean, I assumed she was going to say something like she'd had uh appendicitis or something awful like that, but there's been no kind of public acknowledgement of exactly what it was.
[55:01] SPEAKER_04: Yeah, so we don't know how serious it was or was not.
[55:04] SPEAKER_04: Like it could be anything.
[55:05] SPEAKER_04: If she's in there for stomach and back problems, it could be, yeah, like you said, Vicky, it could be her appendix, it could be gastrointestinal, it could be ONG.
[55:12] SPEAKER_04: You have no idea what that could be.
[55:13] SPEAKER_04: It would be it would be good to know so that we could talk about it with a little bit more, you know, with a little bit more certainty as to how big an impact it had.
[55:23] SPEAKER_04: Like, did she miss a day's training?
[55:24] SPEAKER_04: Did she miss a week?
[55:25] SPEAKER_04: Did she have three weeks that were poor?
[55:27] SPEAKER_04: Is she still recovering?
[55:29] SPEAKER_04: Because, you know, if it was something very mild and acute that was gone in 24 to 48 hours, she probably didn't lose that much.
[55:36] SPEAKER_04: Whereas if it's something that could a bit more serious, she could still be kind of suffering negative effects from it.
[55:41] SPEAKER_04: So it's kind of the big unknown with this race.
[55:44] SPEAKER_04: She obviously ran four minutes slower than what she did last year when she she got in that bat battle with Cat Matthews.
[55:51] SPEAKER_04: Um, but I like I don't know.
[55:52] SPEAKER_04: She got dropped on the bike by Solvay again.
[55:55] SPEAKER_04: That's what happened in Kona at a very similar point.
[55:58] SPEAKER_04: Like, I think it was about 70, 65k that Solvay dropped Laura out of her wheel on the weekend at Iron Man Hamburg.
[56:05] SPEAKER_04: She didn't attack, she didn't put in any big surges, she just rode her out of her wheel.
[56:10] SPEAKER_04: So that's two times in a row that's happened to Laura Phillip now, in the exact same way with Solvay, and Solvay's gone on to beat her both times.
[56:18] SPEAKER_04: So she really needs to fix that before Kona.
[56:21] SPEAKER_04: Because guess what?
[56:22] SPEAKER_04: That's exactly what Sulvay's gonna do out in the Queen Cat Kona again.
[56:25] SPEAKER_04: She's gonna get out in the bike, she's gonna be with people like Kat and Laura and maybe Marge Elaine and Lisa Perdera, and she's just gonna ride harder and harder and harder gradually throughout the bike.
[56:36] SPEAKER_04: And if people can hold on, then good luck to them.
[56:39] SPEAKER_04: If you can't, your race is probably done.
[56:40] SPEAKER_04: Because if she gets away from you on the bike, at this point, you're really not gonna catch her again, I don't think.
[56:46] SPEAKER_04: You know, it's only gonna be if people out in front can beat her, like Lucy Charles Barclay and Taylor for Taylor Nibs.
[56:51] SPEAKER_04: So yeah, I think I think we might just be seeing the start of the passing of the guard with Solvay.
[56:56] SPEAKER_04: I I I kind of think we won't see Laura Phillip beat her again over the full distance.
[57:00] SPEAKER_04: I think we're gonna see a lot more performances like we saw on the weekend.
[57:03] SPEAKER_04: And and Solvay might be the next Danny Allah Reef here.
[57:06] SPEAKER_04: Like this could be a generational thing, I think.
[57:08] SPEAKER_07: The thing I would say to back Laura here is that she was also sick after the 70.3 she did in Axe.
[57:16] SPEAKER_07: So she'd had something, we don't know how serious, when she'd been in hospital.
[57:21] SPEAKER_07: She then got herself onto that start line for Axe because she really wanted that 70.3 slot.
[57:26] SPEAKER_07: And we we speculated why would she go when she clearly wasn't 100%, but obviously it was for the slot.
[57:32] SPEAKER_07: She then got sick off the back of that because the cold conditions just absolutely fried her, and then has had to try and back it up because she's desperate to validate and to go to Kona.
[57:43] SPEAKER_07: So she's done that, but I feel like 242 on a day when she clearly wasn't at her best, she was shivering in T2.
[57:53] SPEAKER_07: I don't know if you saw that bit.
[57:54] SPEAKER_07: Jan was sort of doing a bit of on the ground commentary and transition, and they obviously wanted him to speak to her, but he was being quite respectful and sort of saying, Oh, I don't want to interrupt her processes, and this is quite a key moment for her.
[58:06] SPEAKER_07: But he gave a quick, you know, how you feeling?
[58:08] SPEAKER_07: You ready to run fast?
[58:09] SPEAKER_07: And she sort of said something like, Oh, I hope so.
[58:11] SPEAKER_07: Um, and then afterwards he said, She was shivering then.
[58:15] SPEAKER_07: So she's we all know that's not performance enhancing to be on the bike and be shivering and then coming into T2 and thinking about running a marathon.
[58:23] SPEAKER_07: But she still ran a 242, and also that marathon she did last year was very different.
[58:28] SPEAKER_07: She was in a head-to-head battle with Kat.
[58:31] SPEAKER_07: Like that is if anything's gonna get the best out of you, it's running against probably your greatest rival in your home country, like going toe to toe trying to prove that once and for all who is the best runner in triathlon.
[58:42] SPEAKER_07: Like, that's kind of what it felt like last year.
[58:44] SPEAKER_07: Whereas this year, she knew she just had to finish the race and she wanted the best position she should she could possibly get, and she ran a really solid marathon.
[58:52] SPEAKER_07: And for me, I think that's really positive.
[58:54] SPEAKER_07: I think this is the moment her momentum starts to shift.
[58:57] SPEAKER_07: She goes, I've done two races that weren't ideal, they weren't under ideal conditions, they were both cold.
[59:03] SPEAKER_07: I wasn't 100% fit, I've been ill and I've managed to get two podiums, get my world champ slots for 70.3 and for Kona, and now I can build.
[59:11] SPEAKER_07: And I think you're right though, Jack, there has to be something that changes with that back end of the bike.
[59:17] SPEAKER_07: But other than that, I actually think it was probably quite positive for her.
[59:20] SPEAKER_04: And that's definitely how Team Phillip will shape this.
[59:23] SPEAKER_04: That's how they'll walk away from this race and talk about it and think about it, and they'll try and point out everything that's gone wrong.
[59:30] SPEAKER_04: And look, this is how close we are to the Iron Man World Championship, despite everything that could have gone wrong and has gone wrong.
[59:38] SPEAKER_04: And they'll use that to instill, you know, belief and confidence and inspire the next block of training and the entire block of training into Kona.
[59:46] SPEAKER_04: Whereas, you know, if you're in Team Solvik lost Seth, you'll just be like, hey, we just beat Laura Phillip again.
[59:52] SPEAKER_04: I was sick on the day.
[59:53] SPEAKER_04: Like Laura Phillip might have had issues leading into the race, but I literally just beat her and I was sick the year.
[59:59] SPEAKER_04: It's like Top Trumps.
[1:00:00] SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
[1:00:01] SPEAKER_04: It literally is.
[1:00:01] SPEAKER_04: Who's the most sick?
[1:00:02] SPEAKER_04: Yeah, but Solvay was sick, but like uh, you know, Hayden Wilde style for that race, and she still went out and won.
[1:00:09] SPEAKER_04: You know, like this is her second Iron Man win.
[1:00:11] SPEAKER_04: She won Texas this year.
[1:00:12] SPEAKER_04: Like, uh look, I don't know, that's not perfect lead-in for me.
[1:00:15] SPEAKER_04: She's just I yeah, I don't know.
[1:00:17] SPEAKER_04: I'm just super high on Solvay at the moment, and I do think that Laura is still world class, and I think she put down a world class performance.
[1:00:24] SPEAKER_04: Like, I don't think I don't think that was that far off her best.
[1:00:27] SPEAKER_04: Like, I don't think it was, you know, I don't think she was at 80%.
[1:00:30] SPEAKER_04: I think she was closer to 90 to 95% than she was 80%.
[1:00:33] SPEAKER_04: I thought it was world class still, but Solvay just still beat her.
[1:00:37] SPEAKER_07: My one worry for Solvay, her swim.
[1:00:42] SPEAKER_07: And I think we haven't seen her yet in a race where the gun swimmers are there when those gun swimmers have not ended up on the side of the road, i.e., Kona with Lucy and Taylor.
[1:00:56] SPEAKER_07: So I think Solvay was never a great swimmer in short course racing, but she was good enough that she could, you know, make a pack, might be the third pack, but she could make a pack and then she would use her bike strength to kind of come through.
[1:01:10] SPEAKER_07: Uh I feel like her swimming in long course racing in general is not as strong as it was when she was a short course swimmer.
[1:01:19] SPEAKER_07: Now, I that's probably an obvious statement.
[1:01:20] SPEAKER_07: I assume she's not spending anywhere near as much time worrying about it because it's not as important, whereas in short course it kind of is.
[1:01:27] SPEAKER_07: Like if you don't make any packs, your day is done.
[1:01:29] SPEAKER_07: So I assume that's what's happened here.
[1:01:32] SPEAKER_07: But when she gets head to head again with the likes of Lucy Charles Barclay and Taylor, who will either go with her or will be close to going with her, I worry for those gaps, how big they're gonna get.
[1:01:43] SPEAKER_07: And even as strong and as we said, well-rounded as Solvay is now, is she gonna be able to rein or reel, I should say, Lucy Charles Barclay in if Lucy's got, you know, eight minutes on her out of the water and then rides at least the same, if not faster, than her?
[1:01:59] SPEAKER_07: Like, are you betting against Lucy?
[1:02:01] SPEAKER_04: We potentially saw on the weekend at Hamburg that there might be a few people who are either between the Solvay and Lucy group, or maybe even on the back end of the Lucy group, depending on how Lucy swims, because if Lucy doesn't absolutely hammer it and just reins it in a little bit, then Taylor will be there.
[1:02:22] SPEAKER_04: Lottie Wilms will probably be there, Holly Lawrence will probably be there.
[1:02:25] SPEAKER_04: And then when you have those women who have like all swam together, got out in a bike group, it becomes harder for Solvay to catch.
[1:02:32] SPEAKER_04: And then there's also the potential for there to be a middle group, which if we see how Marjolaine Pierre's riding right now, why couldn't she come back, you know, two, two and a half minutes and then catch a Lucy Charles front group at Kona if she keeps riding the way she is now, or did at Nice in 2024 or at Kona last year, where she did that insane surge for like six minutes and and blew the race apart.
[1:02:55] SPEAKER_04: Like we could see a world that that there's a big front group for the first time in in forever at Kona this year.
[1:03:01] SPEAKER_04: Uh, and that would hurt Solvay's chances, I think.
[1:03:04] SPEAKER_04: So I think you're right, Vicky, that the weekend proved that that Solvay is pretty unbeatable at these style of races, but she has a clear weakness.
[1:03:12] SPEAKER_04: And if you're gonna beat Solvay this year, you have to expose her on the swim, and then you have to get away on the bike using that swim gap you've got.
[1:03:20] SPEAKER_04: That's her weakness, right?
[1:03:22] SPEAKER_00: Holly Lawrence DNF, um, you know, now injured supposedly, and probably in doubt for Kona.
[1:03:31] SPEAKER_00: Do we um, you know, she what what was she there last year at Kona?
[1:03:34] SPEAKER_00: Fifth or sixth?
[1:03:35] SPEAKER_00: Um, I think.
[1:03:36] SPEAKER_00: So sixth, yeah.
[1:03:38] SPEAKER_00: So, you know, maybe maybe she will.
[1:03:41] SPEAKER_00: Maybe it's um, you know, she can get back and do a placid or something if the injury is not severe.
[1:03:46] SPEAKER_00: But um, yeah, sad to see her DNF because we like to see Holly out racing.
[1:03:51] SPEAKER_02: So everybody's gone.
[1:03:56] SPEAKER_02: Everybody goes.
[1:04:00] SPEAKER_04: If you're someone who is injured, has been injured, constantly gets injured, or wants to do everything you can to stay injury free while you're running, then you need a lever movement system in your life.
[1:04:10] SPEAKER_04: There's almost nothing more annoying than having to be careful about your run mileage or how many sessions you do because you're scared of getting injured or you have a needle that always pops up.
[1:04:18] SPEAKER_04: So instead of just constantly erring on the side of caution with your running, you can literally just get a lever movement system and start running more, but with way, way less risk.
[1:04:28] SPEAKER_04: All you do is connect the lever movement system to your treadmill, and it allows you to run with reduced body weight, which takes load off all of your bones, joints, tendons, and ligaments while you run.
[1:04:39] SPEAKER_04: So you can do more mileage, longer long runs, faster sessions, longer sessions, and more sessions, and just run more frequently to get the same or very similar fitness increases, but without having to stress about getting injured.
[1:04:52] SPEAKER_04: You can use it on your return to run post-injury to make sure you don't get re-injured.
[1:04:57] SPEAKER_04: And you can also use it to speed up that return to run process, which is very, very frustrating, especially if you're having to do it multiple times a year.
[1:05:04] SPEAKER_04: Leave it is honestly just an amazing product that works.
[1:05:06] SPEAKER_04: It really does.
[1:05:07] SPEAKER_04: It's such a valuable tool to have as an athlete taking your running seriously or your triathlon seriously.
[1:05:13] SPEAKER_04: Just have it in your tool bag for when you need it, or preventively use it so that you don't ever need to skip running because of injury.
[1:05:20] SPEAKER_04: It's just the most frustrating, annoying thing.
[1:05:22] SPEAKER_04: So prevent it before it happens is my my big advice.
[1:05:24] SPEAKER_04: Um, so if you do want to go and get yourself one, then go to Lever Movement's website and use the code TTH for 20% off.
[1:05:31] SPEAKER_04: Uh and I'll put those details in the show notes.
[1:05:33] SPEAKER_04: That's a big discount, that 20% off one.
[1:05:35] SPEAKER_04: So yeah, TTH that one was.
[1:05:50] SPEAKER_01: And just get a finish under her belt.
[1:05:52] SPEAKER_01: We we were kind of talking about it on the show, and yeah, she kind of posted an emotional Instagram, and you know, maybe we can ask Vicky because I know you you're Closer to Indy than than we all, and I don't know her personally, but when she was on the T100 tour last year and stuff, just kind of like laughing, and she just seems like a great personality.
[1:06:09] SPEAKER_01: So she's qualified for Kona.
[1:06:11] SPEAKER_01: She already had doubts of is she done?
[1:06:14] SPEAKER_01: And we were kind of almost speculating on the podcast a little bit too.
[1:06:17] SPEAKER_01: So I'm just pumped to see her cross, get a Kona spot, and you know, know that she's she's not done yet.
[1:06:22] SPEAKER_01: And I think the sport's in a better place when Indy's around, kind of uh lifting the mood of all her competitors.
[1:06:28] SPEAKER_07: Well, I'll say I don't have more information.
[1:06:30] SPEAKER_07: I haven't actually spoken to Indy since Hamburg at all.
[1:06:33] SPEAKER_07: But what I would say is you are right, she has the most wicked sense of humour.
[1:06:38] SPEAKER_07: She's a very, very fun human to be around.
[1:06:41] SPEAKER_07: And I she was, I've said it a few times, she was my training partner for several years, and it was never a dull day with Indy around, normally trying to uh wind us up by making us believe something or other.
[1:06:53] SPEAKER_07: Um, but she's yeah, she's someone who has struggled, and she she, I guess, let me into a certain amount of that before she did Pamploma and then DNF'd on that day.
[1:07:04] SPEAKER_07: And I still don't know the exact ins and outs of what happened there, but rallied and got herself into Hamburg, which was always her main aim for this part of the season to try and get herself Kona qualified.
[1:07:16] SPEAKER_07: And it didn't start great.
[1:07:18] SPEAKER_07: She again was someone who had a really quite poor swim.
[1:07:21] SPEAKER_07: She's someone who she should have been swimming with that front pack.
[1:07:24] SPEAKER_07: She is the caliber of swimmer who could have gone with Holly Lawrence and Lottie Wilms.
[1:07:27] SPEAKER_07: Like she should have been on that pack.
[1:07:29] SPEAKER_07: Whereas she actually didn't even come out with the Marjolaine pack, which was two and a half, no, three minutes down.
[1:07:34] SPEAKER_07: She was another minute and a half down again.
[1:07:36] SPEAKER_07: So really not very good swim for Indy.
[1:07:39] SPEAKER_07: And then on the bike, it almost seemed like it took her about a hundred K to really, really get going.
[1:07:46] SPEAKER_07: Because that's around the time she caught Laura, and it felt like that really helped her.
[1:07:50] SPEAKER_07: When she caught up to Laura, it felt like, oh, okay, she believes that she's not done yet, like that she might actually be okay here.
[1:07:57] SPEAKER_07: And again, you've alluded to it.
[1:07:59] SPEAKER_07: She put out this quite emotional Instagram post and she said she didn't feel great, and then she got out on the run, saw all her family, and then felt amazing.
[1:08:05] SPEAKER_07: And she ran like a six-minute marathon PB.
[1:08:08] SPEAKER_07: And that was enough to get her get her her Kona slot for the day.
[1:08:11] SPEAKER_07: And again, she's someone who's battled these, I guess, negative thoughts, this poor momentum.
[1:08:17] SPEAKER_07: Hopefully, this is the moment hers switches as well, and that she can have a really great crack at Kona this year.
[1:08:22] SPEAKER_04: She's one of the best people in the sport, isn't she?
[1:08:24] SPEAKER_04: So fun to be around.
[1:08:26] SPEAKER_04: So we do hope that the good things come for the rest of the year with India.
[1:08:29] SPEAKER_04: But I think that seventh place was good.
[1:08:32] SPEAKER_04: I like I didn't I didn't expect much more than that.
[1:08:35] SPEAKER_04: Like I would say that's probably the pointy end of what I thought she could do given what's been happening.
[1:08:39] SPEAKER_04: And she can just build off that.
[1:08:41] SPEAKER_04: That's that's the key for India here.
[1:08:42] SPEAKER_04: She just got needs to build off that.
[1:08:44] SPEAKER_04: Lottie Wilms in six, I thought was very good.
[1:08:47] SPEAKER_04: If she could run fast, Lottie would be a problem.
[1:08:49] SPEAKER_04: But she just consistently runs between three hours and three hours ten for the marathon, even on a course that's a bit fast like Hamburg, she still can't quite break three hours.
[1:08:58] SPEAKER_04: If she could run 250, we'd be talking about Lottie Wilms in the world championship conversation.
[1:09:02] SPEAKER_04: We we really would.
[1:09:03] SPEAKER_04: But this kind of just seems like until she fixes that marathon, she's always gonna be good, really good.
[1:09:09] SPEAKER_04: You're gonna see her on TV in Iron Man's because she puts herself in races, she animates races, but the marathon's a problem.
[1:09:16] SPEAKER_04: Lisa Perdera, consistent, kind of like um Christiansen, you know, they're just they're just consistent.
[1:09:21] SPEAKER_04: You know what you're gonna get with both of them.
[1:09:22] SPEAKER_04: And then Marjolaine Pierre.
[1:09:25] SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I don't know.
[1:09:26] SPEAKER_04: They're like, I feel like Marjolaine could be like anything, really.
[1:09:30] SPEAKER_04: You know, like if we if we think back to the Nice World Championships and and then what we saw for the most of the bike, you know, leading a race of this level into T2 and and riding the way she did, I just feel like there's an there's an alternative reality where Marjelaine Pierre is the best athlete in the world over the Iron Man distance.
[1:09:47] SPEAKER_04: I don't know if she'll ever get there, because maybe her marathon's just never gonna get to that level.
[1:09:52] SPEAKER_04: But I do think there's a world where she could win an Iron Man World Championships if everything clicks.
[1:09:57] SPEAKER_04: I don't know, maybe I'm crazy, maybe I'm crazy, maybe I just love Marjolaine, but because she's also bloody nice and and great company, but uh I don't know.
[1:10:05] SPEAKER_04: I feel like she could be anything.
[1:10:06] SPEAKER_01: She races with no fear.
[1:10:08] SPEAKER_01: I mean, at these races, her she covers the first 30k of an Iron Man bike just so fast.
[1:10:13] SPEAKER_01: And it even happened at Kona last year.
[1:10:15] SPEAKER_01: I'm like, wait, Marjelaine's split is just way faster than everyone.
[1:10:18] SPEAKER_01: Is this correct?
[1:10:19] SPEAKER_01: And yeah, it doesn't always pan out.
[1:10:21] SPEAKER_01: I mean, some races she does quite well, of course, but she can kind of ride that all the way to the finish line.
[1:10:27] SPEAKER_01: Yeah, there's uh there's that world that we could live in, Jack.
[1:10:30] SPEAKER_07: Is that the training with Lucy effect, do you think?
[1:10:33] SPEAKER_07: Like that she that that in that mentality of I'm just gonna go absolutely all in and hold on, see what happens.
[1:10:41] SPEAKER_04: Maybe it couldn't have hurt, could it really?
[1:10:43] SPEAKER_04: Like they're both pretty fearless races.
[1:10:45] SPEAKER_04: They're both like they're the same person.
[1:10:47] SPEAKER_04: One's the French Lucy, one's one's the English Lucy.
[1:10:50] SPEAKER_04: They're like pretty blonde-haired girls who look all innocent, who are nice, who are media trained, who treat everyone well.
[1:10:57] SPEAKER_04: And then they get on the race course and they're absolute dog animals who kill anyone who gets in their way.
[1:11:03] SPEAKER_04: Like they really are.
[1:11:04] SPEAKER_04: And if you haven't seen them at a race, you wouldn't realize that.
[1:11:07] SPEAKER_04: But Lucy would slit your throat if it meant beating you in a race, and so would Marjolaine.
[1:11:11] SPEAKER_04: They just like that.
[1:11:12] SPEAKER_03: Then off the course, I'm telling you, mate.
[1:11:15] SPEAKER_04: They're they're serial killers on the race course.
[1:11:18] SPEAKER_04: I I wouldn't be surprised if Lucy Charles Barclay had a little book of everyone she'd murdered out on a race course.
[1:11:24] SPEAKER_04: Like they are just animals on the race course, completely different in real life.
[1:11:27] SPEAKER_04: So that it's, you know, this isn't this isn't gonna go to court or become a legal issue in any way.
[1:11:31] SPEAKER_04: Like Lucy and Marjolaine aren't gonna go to jail for what they do on the race course.
[1:11:35] SPEAKER_06: But you know, good to clear that up, Jack.
[1:11:37] SPEAKER_04: I don't know what I'm saying.
[1:11:38] SPEAKER_04: I don't know what I'm saying.
[1:11:39] SPEAKER_01: She's got a little murder book by her bedside.
[1:11:42] SPEAKER_01: She reads it the night before the race.
[1:11:44] SPEAKER_01: She's like, ooh, who am I gonna add to the list today?
[1:11:47] SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
[1:11:47] SPEAKER_04: Greg took his shirt off randomly before in the podcast, and we didn't talk about that, and then that's just thrown me, and it's like 5 a.m.
[1:11:53] SPEAKER_04: here, so you're gonna have to excuse me.
[1:11:55] SPEAKER_04: I've lost the plot.
[1:11:56] SPEAKER_01: You're the one who keeps asking me to redo it, all right?
[1:11:58] SPEAKER_01: No one has seen whatever, let's just okay.
[1:12:01] SPEAKER_01: Vicky, what do you have to say?
[1:12:02] SPEAKER_01: Can I go?
[1:12:03] SPEAKER_07: Can I go back to Marjelaine, please?
[1:12:05] SPEAKER_07: Okay, going back to Marjolaine.
[1:12:07] SPEAKER_07: I feel like when I first knew of her coming into the sport, as she said, the little French girl who ran with her hair down and all the rest of it, I felt like she was that was her strength.
[1:12:17] SPEAKER_07: I thought she was a runner, but she's not a runner now, she's a swim biker.
[1:12:23] SPEAKER_07: Like the way she swims, like she's nigh on making these front packs, she's not a million miles off.
[1:12:29] SPEAKER_07: And then her bike is such a weapon.
[1:12:31] SPEAKER_07: Like, if anything, her run is now her weakness, and I don't know how that's happened, but what it shows is that she has been able at some point in her life to do all three really well.
[1:12:43] SPEAKER_07: Well, now all she's got to do is work out how to do all three of them really well at the same time.
[1:12:47] SPEAKER_07: Sounds simple, I know it's not, but she's got a massive head start on people who've always battled to get any one of them up there.
[1:12:54] SPEAKER_07: She, the fact that she's done all three to a high level means that there could be firework someday from her.
[1:13:00] SPEAKER_07: The final one, we we we I spoke about her briefly in my synopsis, but you know, Katherine Christensen.
[1:13:07] SPEAKER_07: If that girl could swim, oh my word, 10 minutes down out of the water, but then had an insane bike ride where she came into T25th and then ran a 245.
[1:13:18] SPEAKER_07: That's a huge step forward for that.
[1:13:20] SPEAKER_07: I think she hasn't ran under 250 before.
[1:13:23] SPEAKER_07: It's a massive day for her.
[1:13:24] SPEAKER_07: And I was just really impressed.
[1:13:26] SPEAKER_07: She just sort of chugged through the whole field.
[1:13:29] SPEAKER_07: And I I think there's something to be said for people who are used to coming out really far down, they just have to have a certain mental strength because they have to believe that their day isn't done.
[1:13:39] SPEAKER_07: They've got to just keep putting one foot in front of the other or one pedal stroke in front of the other.
[1:13:44] SPEAKER_07: I just thought that was a really impressive performance in that standard of field as well.
[1:13:49] SPEAKER_07: Like, just yeah, hats off.
[1:13:51] SPEAKER_07: Really great day for her.
[1:13:52] SPEAKER_04: Two Scandinavians on the podium of a German Iron Man.
[1:13:55] SPEAKER_04: Like there 10 years ago, that wasn't happening.
[1:13:58] SPEAKER_04: Like, I yeah, I I was a little bit shocked by that performance because I just thought the race would get away from her like it has done in the past.
[1:14:05] SPEAKER_04: Like, you know, she kind of gets she kind of, you know, because you're so far back in the swim, you don't get the flow-on effect of of having a good swim or being in a big group and and you know, getting to push less power or rely on some motorbikes and that kind of thing.
[1:14:18] SPEAKER_04: She has to work for it all day.
[1:14:19] SPEAKER_04: And it it worked out for her.
[1:14:21] SPEAKER_04: Like it was uh, you know, only riding one minute slower than Solvay lost Seth, considering she was 10 minutes back out of the swim.
[1:14:27] SPEAKER_04: Crazy impressive.
[1:14:29] SPEAKER_04: I do think it's going to be tough in the big races like Kona, you know, media affected races.
[1:14:33] SPEAKER_07: Yeah, for the same reasons that, yeah, same reasons we talked about with Solvay as well.
[1:14:37] SPEAKER_07: And this is a more exaggerated version of that.
[1:14:39] SPEAKER_07: But I just thought, what a day for her, though.
[1:14:42] SPEAKER_07: Still very impressed.
[1:14:43] SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
[1:14:44] SPEAKER_04: All right.
[1:14:44] SPEAKER_04: Iron Man Hamburg.
[1:14:45] SPEAKER_04: Is there anything else?
[1:14:46] SPEAKER_04: Any other performances that we wanted to highlight?
[1:14:48] SPEAKER_04: Or and why did you take your shirt off, by the way?
[1:14:51] SPEAKER_04: Um, all right, let's wrap it up.
[1:14:52] SPEAKER_04: Greg, thank you for being here.
[1:14:54] SPEAKER_06: When did this happen?
[1:14:55] SPEAKER_04: You weren't here, and so he took his shirt off when it was just me backing up.
[1:15:00] SPEAKER_00: And then I put on her shirt.
[1:15:01] SPEAKER_00: Like I I he was also weirdly rubbing his nipples as well.
[1:15:08] SPEAKER_04: And he he we were started laughing.
[1:15:10] SPEAKER_04: He goes, No, I'm not doing this.
[1:15:11] SPEAKER_04: I'm not having you tease me about Vicky with a shirt off.
[1:15:14] SPEAKER_04: And he went and put a shirt on.
[1:15:15] SPEAKER_07: Wasn't even here then.
[1:15:16] SPEAKER_04: No, well, I think what he was meaning it was he would we didn't even say it.
[1:15:19] SPEAKER_04: We didn't even mention your name, Vicky.
[1:15:21] SPEAKER_04: But his brain went to the fact that I'm not wearing a shirt for Vicky and they're gonna tease me about it.
[1:15:26] SPEAKER_04: We didn't even say it.
[1:15:27] SPEAKER_04: He said it.
[1:15:27] SPEAKER_05: Yeah, well, you've put it into our minds enough times, haven't you?
[1:15:31] SPEAKER_05: So you can't blame Greg for that.
[1:15:32] SPEAKER_01: Vicky and I have been doing a lot of behind-the-scenes chatting.
[1:15:35] SPEAKER_01: Well, actually, I shouldn't get away.
[1:15:38] SPEAKER_01: Making it work.
[1:15:40] SPEAKER_01: Thanks for listening, everyone.
[1:15:42] SPEAKER_01: No, no, what were you gonna say then, Greg?
[1:15:44] SPEAKER_01: How we hate you.
[1:15:46] SPEAKER_06: We've been plotting against you.
[1:15:48] SPEAKER_04: You're both gorgeous people, Greg and Vicky.
[1:15:51] SPEAKER_04: Apo, you're gorgeous as well.
[1:15:52] SPEAKER_04: Um, thank you for doing it.
[1:15:53] SPEAKER_04: We'll do it again next time.
[1:15:55] SPEAKER_00: Bye.
[1:15:56] SPEAKER_00: Bye.
