[0:46] Speaker 1: Aaron Cadwood.
[0:47] Speaker 2: She's a creative director with over fifteen years in the

[0:58] Speaker 2: To create luxury tailored suits for just us girls. Now
[1:02] Speaker 2: we're finally more than halfway through winter, and I'm so
[1:05] Speaker 2: happy because I hate winter shoes. I find them hard
[1:08] Speaker 2: to style. I don't know what him to wear. I
[1:11] Speaker 2: just want to slide. I want something open that is easy.
[1:13] Speaker 2: But we need to keep our feet warm, so Erin
[1:15] Speaker 2: and I are going to chat about what shoes we're
[1:17] Speaker 2: wearing in winter, what shoes make a great capsule collection
[1:21] Speaker 2: when it comes to footwear, and how long to make
[1:23] Speaker 2: your pants if you're getting them taken up so they
[1:24] Speaker 2: go with every single pair of shoes. Eron, Welcome to
[1:27] Speaker 2: Nothing to wear. Thank you for coming all the way here.
[1:31] Speaker 2: Now listen, I ask new guests two general questions before
[1:33] Speaker 2: we get into the topic, So let's start with those.
[1:36] Speaker 2: Can you describe your own style in three words? And
[1:39] Speaker 2: what are those words and why?
[1:40] Speaker 4: I'd probably say eclectic. I'd like to really pull references
[1:45] Speaker 4: from heaps of different places.
[1:47] Speaker 2: And put them all to everyone outfit and put them.
[1:51] Speaker 4: Or who I am that day. I would also say
[1:55] Speaker 4: self referential. For that reason, the outfit either speaks about
[1:58] Speaker 4: itself or I take my personal style very seriously, and
[2:02] Speaker 4: those things are really expressive of who I'm feeling that
[2:06] Speaker 4: day or what I need to be that day.
[2:08] Speaker 2: That is a really good term that yes, can apply
[2:12] Speaker 2: to so many things like that.
[2:13] Speaker 4: Yeah, I never had it and then tailored why it
[2:18] Speaker 4: would have to be right? It has to be. I
[2:20] Speaker 4: found out quite a few years ago that just tailored
[2:23] Speaker 4: pieces look really good on me. The structure everyone.
[2:26] Speaker 2: Yeah, tailoring just gives a vibe. It doesn't have to
[2:30] Speaker 2: be a tailored suit. You don't have to be going
[2:32] Speaker 2: to an office, but just good tailoring.
[2:34] Speaker 4: Yeah, even just like crisp collared shirt. That structure around
[2:39] Speaker 4: my face I think just really works instead of anything
[2:42] Speaker 4: too frillly.
[2:43] Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I'm not a frill that's maybe have a
[2:45] Speaker 2: fill on the bottom, you're right around the face.
[2:46] Speaker 1: Yeah, I love those all right.
[2:49] Speaker 2: The theory that we believe that most women wear a
[2:52] Speaker 2: smaller portion of their wardrobe. So there's the ninety percent
[2:54] Speaker 2: that you love but you don't reach for all the time.
[2:57] Speaker 2: The ten percent you reach for all the time. What's
[2:59] Speaker 2: in your ten percent or.
[3:01] Speaker 4: The day to day is like a long skirt and
[3:03] Speaker 4: a blazer, okay, And so I feel like that gives
[3:06] Speaker 4: me the core of getting everyone. And then I can
[3:10] Speaker 4: chuck on you know, snipes or boots or whatever.
[3:13] Speaker 2: So it's a versatile kind of bass layer.
[3:15] Speaker 4: Yes, absolutely, it's always kind of like a long or
[3:18] Speaker 4: a three quartered skirt and.
[3:20] Speaker 1: You love a maxi skirt.
[3:22] Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm really loving them at the moment. And then yeah,
[3:25] Speaker 4: just always putting on a blazer. It can be vintage,
[3:28] Speaker 4: it can be a little over do you think you
[3:30] Speaker 4: have don't make me calm, I don't expose to I mean,
[3:34] Speaker 4: it's your vibe, it's your fe Sure, I think you know.
[3:37] Speaker 4: I've got a few of my personal collection, but now
[3:40] Speaker 4: I have access to so many all the time.
[3:42] Speaker 2: Well, it's dangerous and if people are watching on YouTube,
[3:46] Speaker 2: we did not both plan to wear checked blue.
[3:48] Speaker 1: And like army greens. So let's get into the topic.
[3:52] Speaker 2: We're going to talk about what is arguably the last
[3:55] Speaker 2: step in someone's process of getting ready, but possibly the
[3:57] Speaker 2: most important footwear shoes. I don't think I can think
[4:02] Speaker 2: of another word, but it's always compers scene. We're still
[4:06] Speaker 2: in the depths of winter, So what is your footwear situation?
[4:10] Speaker 2: And in a bigger picture kind of this this winter's
[4:13] Speaker 2: footwear trends.
[4:15] Speaker 4: Yeah, I just got a pair of knee high boots.
[4:19] Speaker 1: Are the ones you're wearing one of the.
[4:20] Speaker 4: Ones I'm wearing. I'm really loving the clip.
[4:23] Speaker 1: Chocolate animal is that? I mean it's not real.
[4:26] Speaker 4: Croc No, it's like a faux cross.
[4:27] Speaker 1: It's very cool.
[4:29] Speaker 4: I wanted something with a little bit of depth and
[4:30] Speaker 4: interesting pattern. I'm wearing a lot of like that knee
[4:34] Speaker 4: high because, as I said, I wear long skirts and
[4:37] Speaker 4: I just don't want that ankle cut off.
[4:41] Speaker 1: Interesting.
[4:41] Speaker 4: And the row of flesh, yeah, when it's at an
[4:44] Speaker 4: awkward level. I love the row flesh. When it's a ballet.
[4:48] Speaker 1: Flat, No, I know exactly what you mean.
[4:51] Speaker 4: Yeah, but I just wanted to be a seamless line.
[4:54] Speaker 4: So this kind of comes off the back of I
[4:57] Speaker 4: would say, like motorcycle boots was the trend over the
[5:00] Speaker 4: last few years. Everyone's wearing those this winter. But the
[5:05] Speaker 4: low profile sneaker, you know, evolution from the Samba and
[5:08] Speaker 4: all the brands around that style is super popular at
[5:13] Speaker 4: the moment.
[5:13] Speaker 2: So less about the chunky and more like the honest Suker, Tiger,
[5:16] Speaker 2: the Sumber, So they're like more the Tokyo's. Yeah, it
[5:19] Speaker 2: makes me feel like like kind of retro seventies sneaker vibe, Yeah,
[5:24] Speaker 2: instead of the chunky eighties dad sneaker.
[5:26] Speaker 4: Yeah, I think seventies and I love to sit in
[5:29] Speaker 4: a reference of seventies. Anything like late sixties, early seventies
[5:33] Speaker 4: is really my vibe. So I'm loving that everything is
[5:36] Speaker 4: very like seventies coded at the moment. Yeah, even the
[5:39] Speaker 4: big sunglasses like the over oversized sunglasses that are kind
[5:42] Speaker 4: of orange tinted.
[5:44] Speaker 1: Me too. It's so nice to see some color happening
[5:46] Speaker 1: in sunny's. Yeah. Not much of a color girl, but
[5:48] Speaker 1: I can do it on a small accessory.
[5:50] Speaker 4: Yeah, that's good.
[5:51] Speaker 2: What do you think is the most versatile option when
[5:54] Speaker 2: it comes to a winter shoe? Maybe firstly for yourself
[5:56] Speaker 2: and then just in general, because I hate winter.
[5:59] Speaker 1: Shoes They're so hard. Yeah, I like summer shoes.
[6:02] Speaker 4: I do like a summer shoe. I think I often
[6:05] Speaker 4: just wear all of my stuff pretty much all the time.
[6:08] Speaker 1: Me too.
[6:09] Speaker 2: But when I say that, it's like my birken stocks
[6:11] Speaker 2: with exercise socks to drop my son at school. It's
[6:13] Speaker 2: not intentional, it's not sheic. I'm just like I just
[6:16] Speaker 2: slides are easy.
[6:17] Speaker 4: I would say my every day go to no matter
[6:20] Speaker 4: what is my loafer. Okay, I have a leather pair
[6:23] Speaker 4: of loafers, really good. I got them made in Portugal
[6:25] Speaker 4: and they are just perfect.
[6:27] Speaker 1: Pocked black and you just wear them with everything.
[6:30] Speaker 4: Classic pretty much, great arch support, white toe box. It's
[6:34] Speaker 4: just nice, beautiful.
[6:36] Speaker 2: We often get I mean, I moderate the nothing to
[6:39] Speaker 2: Wear community group, and a lot of people say I
[6:41] Speaker 2: don't know how to wear loafers because I think they
[6:43] Speaker 2: think of it so literally as like what men would
[6:46] Speaker 2: wear with a suit. But I love loafers and I
[6:48] Speaker 2: think they're so versatile. So what would you wear them with.
[6:51] Speaker 4: A tailored pair of trousers is a good one. I
[6:54] Speaker 4: always think that you have to look at the relationship
[6:56] Speaker 4: between the shoe and the hemline. Yes, and so I
[7:01] Speaker 4: actually think if you're getting into loafers and probably have
[7:05] Speaker 4: a thing about this during springtime, it's probably easier to
[7:08] Speaker 4: wear them with sock and like shorts or a skirm
[7:12] Speaker 4: something I love that.
[7:14] Speaker 1: I love the look. I I can't.
[7:16] Speaker 4: Do it, can't have legs out. Well, then you can
[7:18] Speaker 4: do it with a long skirt.
[7:19] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[7:19] Speaker 2: I often do a loafer with a Maxi skirt or
[7:22] Speaker 2: even in winter try and get more out of my wardrobe.
[7:24] Speaker 2: I'll be wearing like a Maxi dress. It might be
[7:26] Speaker 2: like a pretty floral, but I'll put a big long
[7:28] Speaker 2: gray chunky knit and a loafer.
[7:30] Speaker 4: Yeah, that's goods.
[7:32] Speaker 2: And even I think like if you did like a
[7:34] Speaker 2: black legging, like a dressy legging or whatever where you
[7:36] Speaker 2: lu lemon if you want, and then a long blazer
[7:38] Speaker 2: and then your loafer and people just think they're like nice.
[7:41] Speaker 4: Yeah, absolutely, I like that looks all them. People realize
[7:44] Speaker 4: they are good and like, if you want to do
[7:46] Speaker 4: a chunky loafer, you can. If you want to do
[7:48] Speaker 4: a slim sort of slide on loafer.
[7:50] Speaker 2: I'm more of a slim classic. You know, it's got
[7:52] Speaker 2: a back on it. But I can't do that chunky
[7:54] Speaker 2: Prata esque loafer that has been everywhere. It feels too school,
[7:59] Speaker 2: which is kind of the vibe.
[8:01] Speaker 4: I think. Yeah, for so many people, that is the
[8:03] Speaker 4: point the brat stole Yes school girl, that is kind
[8:06] Speaker 4: of their vibe.
[8:07] Speaker 2: Talk to me about high heels because the footwear category
[8:10] Speaker 2: has had quite the revolution, and I think that covid
[8:12] Speaker 2: Lockdown had a lot to do with that. What are
[8:15] Speaker 2: you seeing in high heels in terms of what people
[8:17] Speaker 2: are wearing or are they wearing them? Are they kind
[8:20] Speaker 2: of over in that they'll never be as popular as
[8:22] Speaker 2: they were before.
[8:23] Speaker 4: Maybe it's just my Instagram algorithm, but I'm seeing a
[8:27] Speaker 4: lot of women call the heel back.
[8:31] Speaker 1: They want it back.
[8:33] Speaker 4: They say, you need to before you go out, you
[8:36] Speaker 4: need to learn to walk in them.
[8:39] Speaker 1: You know, you really need because the generation just hasn't
[8:42] Speaker 1: done it.
[8:42] Speaker 4: They haven't done it, and like I have a you know,
[8:44] Speaker 4: my mum always jokes that I've been able to run
[8:47] Speaker 4: in hills before I could run.
[8:49] Speaker 2: Yeah, it was like a ride of passage where I
[8:51] Speaker 2: kind of first started going out and you got your
[8:53] Speaker 2: license and you could drink and you were just.
[8:55] Speaker 1: Like tottering around.
[8:56] Speaker 2: But we work with a lot of young women here
[8:57] Speaker 2: and they just everyone's just like nah.
[8:59] Speaker 4: Yeah, I can understand why I love it because I
[9:03] Speaker 4: love feeling like you walk differently when you're in a
[9:07] Speaker 4: per even if it's a small little kid.
[9:09] Speaker 2: Ye to kit and heel you've got to block he
[9:11] Speaker 2: along those boots, which is very wearable. So maybe not
[9:14] Speaker 2: the six inch stilettos. I mean, I love the look.
[9:17] Speaker 4: There's a time for it, yeah, but I just think
[9:19] Speaker 4: when you go to the oscars, you just need to
[9:22] Speaker 4: find the right moment. But I love kind of like
[9:25] Speaker 4: is it the fourth centimeter? Kind of like that mid
[9:28] Speaker 4: me too.
[9:28] Speaker 2: I'm all about when I go on a website, now
[9:30] Speaker 2: I'm searching for a shoe of like you know, still
[9:32] Speaker 2: it like point or pump and then I'll do mead.
[9:35] Speaker 2: I always search to mid heere and I'm like, oh
[9:37] Speaker 2: my god, I'm such a grandma.
[9:38] Speaker 1: But I'm just gonna though.
[9:39] Speaker 4: I was getting to that age as well. But I
[9:42] Speaker 4: love a really comfortable heel again, wide toe box. I
[9:45] Speaker 4: love the I would call them thong heels, the ones
[9:50] Speaker 4: where they like look like the pair of Aviana thongs.
[9:53] Speaker 4: And then yes, but just with like a leather or something.
[9:55] Speaker 4: I don't really need it to be in rubber.
[9:57] Speaker 3: No.
[9:57] Speaker 1: Yeah, well you put a heel on us.
[9:59] Speaker 4: And like, this generation has it so easy. They're like
[10:02] Speaker 4: Louis Biton's miss these are the most comfortable pair of shoes.
[10:06] Speaker 4: We had to suffer through painstaking heel It's true.
[10:10] Speaker 2: And also back in the day, you know, oftentimes if
[10:13] Speaker 2: you were wearing a really high heel, you might be
[10:15] Speaker 2: going out somewhere. And when I was when I was young,
[10:17] Speaker 2: there was no uber, so you just try to flag
[10:19] Speaker 2: down taxis and run around the city.
[10:20] Speaker 1: Now you just call the uber and you stand there, right,
[10:22] Speaker 1: it's door to door. Yeah, it's stored to door. Yeah.
[10:25] Speaker 2: Look, I'm interested to see what happens with heels. I
[10:27] Speaker 2: think I'm so pro heel because I love them and
[10:30] Speaker 2: I wore them a lot when I was younger. But
[10:31] Speaker 2: I'm also very happy with the evolution of more stylish
[10:34] Speaker 2: flatter footwear. So now we've got more options whereas us like, oh,
[10:38] Speaker 2: flats depending on what you did, but now there's so
[10:40] Speaker 2: many phenomenal flats or kitten heels that you don't have
[10:43] Speaker 2: to do high high heels. Okay, So we love a
[10:55] Speaker 2: statement shoe, whether it's you know, a loud color or
[10:58] Speaker 2: a cowboy boot. What are your styling tips for a
[11:02] Speaker 2: brave shoe choice? Like, do we ever make our shoe
[11:05] Speaker 2: the center of the outfit?
[11:06] Speaker 1: Attention?
[11:07] Speaker 4: Oh? I'm always making the shoe the center if I
[11:10] Speaker 4: if I'm gonna wear. So my theory is always like,
[11:15] Speaker 4: let's start with the shoe so you can figure out
[11:17] Speaker 4: what you want who But it's huge, yeah, of course,
[11:21] Speaker 4: because you need to like check in with yourself. You
[11:24] Speaker 4: need to really figure out, like what are you doing
[11:26] Speaker 4: that day?
[11:26] Speaker 2: That's true because you ask a lot from your footwear.
[11:28] Speaker 2: Is there a lot of walking? Are you sitting?
[11:30] Speaker 4: Are you getting in the uber and going straight to
[11:33] Speaker 4: the location. It's so true, and so.
[11:36] Speaker 1: How I want to get it so wrong all the
[11:37] Speaker 1: time I get it.
[11:38] Speaker 4: I think it's a good opportunity to like check in
[11:40] Speaker 4: and see who you need to be that day. And
[11:43] Speaker 4: so often if I do just feel like maybe I'm
[11:47] Speaker 4: wearing a lower key out, like maybe it's all black.
[11:51] Speaker 4: Having a statement footwear is super easy to bring, like
[11:55] Speaker 4: just a piece of interest to the look. It's also
[11:58] Speaker 4: a good way of like trying out the trends, even
[12:00] Speaker 4: though I don't want trends to be around it.
[12:02] Speaker 1: No, but I know what you mean.
[12:03] Speaker 4: You know, it's like if you're investing in really good
[12:06] Speaker 4: quality pieces and you want them to be that in
[12:10] Speaker 4: neutrals or colors that really work for you, like your neutrals. Obviously,
[12:14] Speaker 4: an olive green is like a dark green is our neutral?
[12:17] Speaker 1: Such a neutral. These are like a gray khaki.
[12:20] Speaker 4: Their gorge I really love.
[12:21] Speaker 2: They're actually very expensive and the toe has started to
[12:23] Speaker 2: feel off already. But I say very expensive, four hundred dollars,
[12:26] Speaker 2: which is very expensive.
[12:27] Speaker 4: Okay, I want to get a lot out of it.
[12:28] Speaker 1: Annoyed, I won't say anything about the brand.
[12:31] Speaker 2: But yes, you want to invest in stuff that's not
[12:33] Speaker 2: going to be worn once or twice because it's too uncomfortable,
[12:35] Speaker 2: it's badly made, especially when it comes to footwear, because
[12:39] Speaker 2: of what we ask it to do.
[12:40] Speaker 4: For sure, And like I, you know, I'm creating suits
[12:44] Speaker 4: for women who they're going to invest in these pieces.
[12:47] Speaker 4: They want to make them really versatile. So often we'll
[12:51] Speaker 4: do it in a neutral color. And so adding a
[12:55] Speaker 4: staple piece like a red shoe makes them feel very
[12:58] Speaker 4: like in the moment.
[12:59] Speaker 2: So as part of your job and what you do,
[13:01] Speaker 2: would you consider the footwear in what you're doing?
[13:04] Speaker 1: So do you say to her what shoes are we
[13:06] Speaker 1: wearing with this?
[13:06] Speaker 4: Yeah? So we often call our sessions discovery sessions because
[13:10] Speaker 4: we're really trying to figure out, like what is your lifestyle?
[13:13] Speaker 4: Are you doing the morning run for school and then
[13:16] Speaker 4: going to meetings and between what's happening? And so I
[13:21] Speaker 4: will tailor the pants to what you often wear.
[13:25] Speaker 1: Yeah, And that's so important with the feet for sure.
[13:28] Speaker 4: And I will always tailor my wide leg long pants
[13:33] Speaker 4: to be shorter at the back. Smart because then I
[13:37] Speaker 4: can wear sneakers and it's not dragging on the floor.
[13:39] Speaker 4: And when I wear heels, they're still versatile. I don't
[13:41] Speaker 4: have to worry about it.
[13:42] Speaker 2: That is the smartest because when I take pants to
[13:46] Speaker 2: be tailor because I'm not particularly tall, and gosh, tailor
[13:48] Speaker 2: is expensive.
[13:49] Speaker 1: If you're buying an affordable with.
[13:50] Speaker 2: Hair pants and you need to get them taken up anyway.
[13:52] Speaker 2: They go, I take my shoes and they're like, well,
[13:53] Speaker 2: what choosing I'm like, well, I don't know. I might
[13:55] Speaker 2: wear a high heel, I might wear a sneaker, and
[13:57] Speaker 2: can you kind of do in between. But it's such
[13:58] Speaker 2: a commitment to choose a length that's so steack.
[14:00] Speaker 4: It's such a commitment to choose a length thing you
[14:02] Speaker 4: shouldn't have to. And I've found this technique that gives
[14:06] Speaker 4: you both because you don't want to drag you on
[14:08] Speaker 4: the bottom like the and I.
[14:09] Speaker 1: Also just don't want to pigeonhole those pants.
[14:12] Speaker 2: When we know now that you know wideleg pants, tailored
[14:14] Speaker 2: pants can be so versatile. They're not just dressy pants
[14:17] Speaker 2: or pants. You can wear them with sneakers or sandals.
[14:19] Speaker 2: So let's say someone listening is going to create a
[14:22] Speaker 2: capsule wardrobe for their shoes. So then on you know
[14:25] Speaker 2: the stuff that not everyone has to have all these
[14:28] Speaker 2: exact styles. But what do you think a kind of
[14:29] Speaker 2: the footwear staples that you can take us through life?
[14:32] Speaker 4: Oh, really good question. I'd say going with something you
[14:37] Speaker 4: definitely need a sneaker.
[14:39] Speaker 2: And that's separate to like your gym sneakers, Like if
[14:40] Speaker 2: you exercise, you mean like a lifestyle sneaker, yes, a trainer.
[14:44] Speaker 4: Yes, a trainer, a lifestyle sneaker, and that can be
[14:48] Speaker 4: low profile or chunky, it doesn't matter. And then I'd
[14:51] Speaker 4: have something a little bit more dressier, and that can
[14:54] Speaker 4: be a loafer, a Mary Jane, a ballet flat, yes,
[14:58] Speaker 4: anything like.
[14:58] Speaker 2: You com'fy footwear. That's the equivalent of a sneaker, but
[15:01] Speaker 2: more dressy.
[15:02] Speaker 4: Absolutely. I would always when you're talking about boots, you
[15:07] Speaker 4: really need to look at the hemlines.
[15:09] Speaker 1: I can't do boots.
[15:10] Speaker 2: I mean I can occasionally, but agreed, I don't know
[15:13] Speaker 2: how to lay them.
[15:14] Speaker 4: So would you go with a near high boot, yeah,
[15:18] Speaker 4: compared to an ankle.
[15:19] Speaker 2: Boot maybe, But I don't really wear short things I
[15:22] Speaker 2: wear like maxiskirts or jeans, So what kind of boot
[15:25] Speaker 2: do I wear?
[15:27] Speaker 4: I would probably go You would rather have something underneath longer, Yeah, underneath.
[15:32] Speaker 1: Maybe That's where I'm going wrong.
[15:33] Speaker 2: I think also, you know, touching on sandals, agreed, Like
[15:36] Speaker 2: I think you need like maybe a classic black pear
[15:39] Speaker 2: and then something neutraally like a tanny creamy even a white.
[15:43] Speaker 1: Because they just go with everything.
[15:44] Speaker 4: See, I do the exact opposite. I always think that
[15:48] Speaker 4: if it doesn't go with anything, it kind of goes
[15:50] Speaker 4: with everything.
[15:50] Speaker 2: Well, I agree, but this is the capsual staples, so
[15:53] Speaker 2: this is then we can go buy our fun little treats.
[15:55] Speaker 2: Like I just wore burgundy sandals even though it's they're
[15:59] Speaker 2: dead of winter. But I guess for what I'm my
[16:01] Speaker 2: capsule would be some neutrally stuff. I don't know, but
[16:05] Speaker 2: I do love a colored shoe and a statement shoe,
[16:07] Speaker 2: but I wouldn't put them in my capsule.
[16:08] Speaker 4: I'm a very vibr I I dress very like bright colors,
[16:12] Speaker 4: and I like to have my accessories really bright. And
[16:16] Speaker 4: so even if I'm going like a lot of Navies,
[16:19] Speaker 4: blacks and grays.
[16:20] Speaker 1: Like, what would you do a purple?
[16:21] Speaker 4: I do bright green.
[16:23] Speaker 1: Yeah, I like bread bright green.
[16:25] Speaker 4: I haven't done a lot of burgundy, even though this
[16:27] Speaker 4: is the time to buy burgundy.
[16:29] Speaker 1: You don't have to that rle, it's not done, but
[16:32] Speaker 1: it is everywhere.
[16:33] Speaker 2: So maybe, like I wear a lot of burgundy too,
[16:35] Speaker 2: because it's good for our colors exactly, So I don't
[16:37] Speaker 2: think I necessarily need it in the footwear.
[16:40] Speaker 4: But I do wear Yeah, I've got some blacks and
[16:42] Speaker 4: some neutrals. Okay, but yeah, I love it. I love
[16:45] Speaker 4: a statement green shoes.
[16:47] Speaker 2: I just love all shoes, even if I don't wear them,
[16:49] Speaker 2: I just want to look at them and think they're pretty.
[16:51] Speaker 2: So on that because you say you love fun shoes,
[16:54] Speaker 2: statement shoes, So you'd be across the wrong shoe theory.
[16:57] Speaker 4: Oh for sure.
[16:58] Speaker 2: So can you explain to the listeners what that is
[17:00] Speaker 2: and how do you use that theory or process to
[17:03] Speaker 2: get dressed?
[17:04] Speaker 4: Yeah? Absolutely, the wrong shoe theory is going to be
[17:08] Speaker 4: picking something that just doesn't quite feel like it goes
[17:11] Speaker 4: with the overall theme or general esthetic that you're doing
[17:15] Speaker 4: and the rest of your outfit, and it creates tension.
[17:20] Speaker 4: And so I really like the wrong shoe theory. Well,
[17:23] Speaker 4: the tension because it's adding like a level of complexity.
[17:28] Speaker 4: I always like to think about, if I'm bringing in
[17:32] Speaker 4: something that really is wrong, it doesn't really make sense
[17:35] Speaker 4: to the rest of the outfit, how can I reference it?
[17:38] Speaker 4: And so, like, I have a pair of shoes that
[17:40] Speaker 4: are not only like wrong shoe, they're also relatively ugly
[17:44] Speaker 4: by all means. They are the Nike Tabby's, you know,
[17:48] Speaker 4: the ones with the toka and they're in camouflage.
[17:51] Speaker 2: Majella started, so Mason Martin Margiela started its shoe that
[17:55] Speaker 2: looks like a pousehold or something. It's got that line, yeah,
[17:59] Speaker 2: between like a thong but in a close gin shoe.
[18:02] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[18:02] Speaker 4: So the Tabby is originally a Japanese oh there you
[18:06] Speaker 4: go shoe. It's I believe it was more like a
[18:09] Speaker 4: working shoe. And so in Japan there's heaps of options,
[18:14] Speaker 4: options and lots of little buyers. Of course, Mochella has
[18:18] Speaker 4: made it so popular and expensive. I've had the great
[18:22] Speaker 4: quality and they really did last.
[18:24] Speaker 2: I've tried them on several times, but I'm not sold yet.
[18:28] Speaker 4: Yeah, I've recently bought an Etsy brand that I'm really
[18:33] Speaker 4: loving so I could try it out. Obsessed with them.
[18:36] Speaker 1: Okay, that's a good way to do it, and it's
[18:37] Speaker 1: a good spot to do that.
[18:39] Speaker 4: Yeah, independent sellers. So when I wear my camo colored
[18:44] Speaker 4: sneaker tabbys, I always try and parrot back with like
[18:49] Speaker 4: maybe a brooch that looks like an army number.
[18:54] Speaker 1: So there's another element that pulls it together.
[18:57] Speaker 4: Maybe the top is like green camera like not camera,
[19:01] Speaker 4: but army.
[19:02] Speaker 1: Green green like a khaki cando.
[19:04] Speaker 4: Yeah, and so like that structured military look, and I'll
[19:08] Speaker 4: wear it with a long, slowly black skull.
[19:10] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I love it.
[19:12] Speaker 2: See me.
[19:12] Speaker 1: But yes, as Allen st Yeah, when I.
[19:15] Speaker 2: Try and do the wrong shoe theory, because you were
[19:17] Speaker 2: saying how oftentimes you started the shoe, I don't. But
[19:19] Speaker 2: I'll try and leave myself enough time. And this is
[19:22] Speaker 2: especially I guess if I'm going somewhere nice on the weekends,
[19:24] Speaker 2: I'll put on the outfit. Then I'll get out five
[19:26] Speaker 2: pairs of shoes and I'll quickly just try them all on,
[19:28] Speaker 2: because there's always a pair of shoes that you.
[19:30] Speaker 1: Know go in your head.
[19:32] Speaker 2: But the wrong shoe theory is add interest in quirk
[19:34] Speaker 2: by wearing not something that's ugly in mismatch, but something
[19:37] Speaker 2: that would technically not be thought of.
[19:39] Speaker 1: It's not.
[19:41] Speaker 2: So we are chatting in the depths of winter, but
[19:43] Speaker 2: spring is right around the corner. So do you have
[19:45] Speaker 2: any little sort of forecast of what we're going to
[19:48] Speaker 2: be wearing on our feet in the spring.
[19:49] Speaker 4: Yeah. Well, I've been looking at the runways that are
[19:53] Speaker 4: happening in Europe at the moment, and a lot of
[19:55] Speaker 4: the like leather sandals, the Indian style sandals, I think,
[20:00] Speaker 4: just like thongs, but not in like the haavianas. We're
[20:03] Speaker 4: going to be doing like a leather or like a
[20:05] Speaker 4: dress style.
[20:05] Speaker 1: So like that simple, like the rose A song that
[20:08] Speaker 1: was that's back.
[20:09] Speaker 4: Again, I think. So that's what I'm seeing everywhere. I'm seeing,
[20:12] Speaker 4: you know, everyone that's in the European summer at the moment.
[20:16] Speaker 4: They Yeah, I'm seeing a lot of that. So I
[20:18] Speaker 4: love it because I already have a.
[20:19] Speaker 1: Pair of I was gonna say, if you've already read it,
[20:22] Speaker 1: I'm prepared.
[20:23] Speaker 2: But if you're shopping now, you know, particularly if you're
[20:26] Speaker 2: like there's some websites that have got like when Overseas
[20:29] Speaker 2: goes on, soal they're going to we're selling their summer.
[20:31] Speaker 1: Grab it because we're going to be wearing it.
[20:33] Speaker 4: Oh yeah, they're like Christmas boxing days. Tales will be
[20:38] Speaker 4: definitely where we can prepare for our summer. Yes, yeah,
[20:42] Speaker 4: that's what I'm seeing a lot of at the moment.
[20:44] Speaker 1: Okay, love it.
[20:45] Speaker 3: Simple, it's very expensive, how wonder.
[21:03] Speaker 2: Okay, Bougie and Budget Winter Footwear Edition. I want you
[21:07] Speaker 2: to start with your budget please.
[21:09] Speaker 4: Yeah, my budget I'm loving the Rabosy Mary Jane Tabby's
[21:14] Speaker 4: I got love Etsy. They're sixty nine dollars.
[21:17] Speaker 1: Oh my god.
[21:17] Speaker 4: Yeah, I thought that was a really good They're not
[21:20] Speaker 4: real go.
[21:21] Speaker 1: A good way to practice and see if you like to.
[21:23] Speaker 4: See if you like it. There's a few that are
[21:25] Speaker 4: real leather and the different price points. I like their
[21:28] Speaker 4: whole collection. I was specifically after the Tabo's.
[21:31] Speaker 1: What color did you get?
[21:32] Speaker 4: I just got black?
[21:32] Speaker 2: Okay, very simple shape with the weird toe thing is
[21:37] Speaker 2: already quite a statement. So it's good to start with black.
[21:40] Speaker 4: Yes, there are statement piece without being too much of
[21:42] Speaker 4: a statement.
[21:43] Speaker 1: Yeah, not visually colored. Yeah, okay, that's your budget.
[21:45] Speaker 2: Well, my Bougie and budget are similar prices and they're
[21:48] Speaker 2: not outrageous, but they're the two winter styles I wear
[21:51] Speaker 2: the most. So I'll start with my budget because it's
[21:54] Speaker 2: ten dollars cheaper.
[21:55] Speaker 1: And this.
[21:55] Speaker 2: I've got this Nine West pump. But I have got
[21:57] Speaker 2: a version of this pump from every brand, from every
[22:00] Speaker 2: color ever, from Jimmy Chwo, Tibets, I've got a lot
[22:05] Speaker 2: of them. So I love the Nine West mailing pumps.
[22:08] Speaker 2: It's a medium here, real Swede. You need to get
[22:11] Speaker 2: real Swede in these guys, and look at the greens.
[22:14] Speaker 2: It comes in black, navy, red, and two types of green.
[22:17] Speaker 2: They are the hardest swearing pump ever, and Swede makes
[22:21] Speaker 2: them look expensive, whereas if you get them even in
[22:23] Speaker 2: a real leather, they.
[22:24] Speaker 1: Can just look a bit. I don't know. I love them.
[22:27] Speaker 2: So I've got the black and navy in those. I've
[22:29] Speaker 2: got a green in another brand. I've got a liec.
[22:32] Speaker 2: I can't tell you how many Swede pumps I've got. Okay,
[22:35] Speaker 2: because you can wear them to your first you can
[22:37] Speaker 2: wear them with cute shorts and like a big blazer
[22:40] Speaker 2: like a Swede pump is actually so versatile. My favorite
[22:43] Speaker 2: person in the whole world, Rosy Huntington Whitey, wears a
[22:46] Speaker 2: pump all the time.
[22:46] Speaker 1: But she does that high. I do that high and
[22:48] Speaker 1: I can run for the bus in them.
[22:50] Speaker 4: Perfect. You can wear them everywhere, you can dress something.
[22:53] Speaker 1: It would have heard them to the gym, but I
[22:54] Speaker 1: don't go to the gym.
[22:55] Speaker 2: Other than that, I'm good, all right, bougie, what's your
[22:58] Speaker 2: fancy winter shoe?
[22:59] Speaker 4: This is my all year, but I've only recently just
[23:02] Speaker 4: got it. Resold it is the deal, sing back the
[23:06] Speaker 4: sling back. I think it's just like a nice again
[23:09] Speaker 4: point is it a heel, it's not a hill. I
[23:12] Speaker 4: went with the flat. It's more versatile. Yes, because I'm
[23:15] Speaker 4: wearing you know, if I'm wearing jeans. I just bought
[23:18] Speaker 4: a pair of the tapered jean.
[23:20] Speaker 1: Love a barrel jean. Yeah, so good with that style
[23:23] Speaker 1: of shoe.
[23:23] Speaker 4: Yes, because it cuts off a little bit too short
[23:26] Speaker 4: than what I'm used to, so I'm really enjoying.
[23:29] Speaker 1: Okay, and what color have you got in that? Just
[23:31] Speaker 1: black with the white, the very classic, that ribbony kind.
[23:34] Speaker 4: Yeah, and that's what I always think that a black shoe,
[23:37] Speaker 4: no matter kind of like what the style is, that
[23:39] Speaker 4: is a winter shoe.
[23:40] Speaker 1: I agree, yeah yeah.
[23:41] Speaker 2: And also if you're going to invest in that kind
[23:43] Speaker 2: of price, black is so clever. Yeah yeah, like we
[23:46] Speaker 2: do love a colored shoe, but black, that would that
[23:48] Speaker 2: would get a spot in your kind of capsule I reckoning.
[23:51] Speaker 4: Yes, it's truly timeless.
[23:53] Speaker 2: Yes, Okay, mine are the Malini Carli cream leather Loafers
[23:57] Speaker 2: one hundred and nineteen nine ninety five. I love a
[24:00] Speaker 2: cream loafer. I have too many pairs of cream loafers.
[24:02] Speaker 2: I don't have these ones.
[24:04] Speaker 1: I have the Tony.
[24:05] Speaker 2: Bianco ones that are very similar. Both of them are
[24:07] Speaker 2: inspired by the Saint Laurent loafers. I tried these on
[24:10] Speaker 2: after look there's much of a muchness. But these ones
[24:13] Speaker 2: are really great in that I don't like anything because
[24:16] Speaker 2: I've got big feet and I just I don't know.
[24:18] Speaker 2: I don't like anything too visually chunky on my feet,
[24:21] Speaker 2: so I will wear a lighter colored loafer with jeans.
[24:25] Speaker 2: Navy camel, even black looks cool like it looks wrong
[24:29] Speaker 2: shoe theory. I love my white loafers. Sometimes they look
[24:32] Speaker 2: like a retirement village golfer.
[24:34] Speaker 4: It's gonna say it's very seven years so I love.
[24:36] Speaker 2: It's just cool, and I honestly like I've got some
[24:39] Speaker 2: beautiful black loafers that are quite a few seasons old
[24:41] Speaker 2: and quite expensive.
[24:42] Speaker 1: I haven't reached from this winter because I'm all about
[24:44] Speaker 1: the cream.
[24:45] Speaker 4: It's very eclectic, Granpa.
[24:46] Speaker 1: Of you, I love you, ieel comfortable.
[24:48] Speaker 2: So the Mileni ones are great, but so are the
[24:50] Speaker 2: Tony Bianco. There's a lot and also some of those
[24:53] Speaker 2: sale like the end of winter sales is a great
[24:55] Speaker 2: time to get quality footwear for next season.
[24:58] Speaker 4: Yeah to prap to have a little.
[25:00] Speaker 1: More, especially your classic.
[25:02] Speaker 4: That one will take you through to spring as well. Forever, yeah, forever.
[25:07] Speaker 1: Thank you. That was fascinating.
[25:08] Speaker 2: I'm going to all my new pants all my old
[25:11] Speaker 2: pants in a new way.
[25:12] Speaker 1: So thank you for joining me.
[25:13] Speaker 4: Thank you for having meat, thank.
[25:17] Speaker 2: You, thank you so much for listening or watching. If
