[0:10] Speaker 1: You're listening to a MoMA Mia podcast.
[0:13] Speaker 2: Mamma Mia acknowledges the traditional owners of land and waters
[0:17] Speaker 2: that this podcast is recorded on Hi Friends, Lee here.
[0:21] Speaker 2: I wanted to tell you about an episode of You
[0:23] Speaker 2: Beauty because Kelly and I have some phenomenal products to
[0:27] Speaker 2: tell you about. I mean, every week we do, but
[0:29] Speaker 2: this week was especially amazing, and so I wanted to
[0:32] Speaker 2: let you know in case you wanted to be across
[0:34] Speaker 2: the best products too. Makeup is my therapy. I'm obsessed
[0:40] Speaker 2: and I don't even feel guilty.
[0:42] Speaker 1: Body.
[0:45] Speaker 2: Hello, and welcome to You Beauty, the daily podcast for
[0:48] Speaker 2: Your Face. I'm Let Campbell, I'm Kelly mccarrot. I think
[0:51] Speaker 2: I've got another yawn in me, don't.
[0:53] Speaker 1: She's a yawny queen and.
[0:55] Speaker 2: Court one that means you're crazy.
[0:58] Speaker 1: Really yeah, Yawns are catage so gullible that without even
[1:02] Speaker 1: queshing it, I just was, oh, really, you know what
[1:04] Speaker 1: I mean?
[1:05] Speaker 2: Yawns are contagious. Otherwise you're a psychopath. It's true.
[1:08] Speaker 1: She's telling me this is a storat face. I do
[1:10] Speaker 1: not believe it's true.
[1:11] Speaker 2: Google.
[1:11] Speaker 1: I'm not a psychopath, but I am a helpful queen,
[1:14] Speaker 1: as is Lee, because on Mondays we answer your beauty
[1:17] Speaker 1: questions and we come into your lives with sometimes a
[1:20] Speaker 1: questionable hostag sometimes well we help your lives. I should say,
[1:23] Speaker 1: not come into your lives. That's weird interiors. Well, apparently
[1:26] Speaker 1: I'm a psychopast. Maybe I'm lurking.
[1:29] Speaker 2: I couldn't help, but wonder ask me anything you ask
[1:31] Speaker 2: Clenny questions. Today we've got a question from Danny L
[1:36] Speaker 2: who slid into our DMS. What are your thoughts or
[1:39] Speaker 2: experiences on using serums like vatamin C E or peptides
[1:43] Speaker 2: on the scalp? Do you think they can assist with
[1:46] Speaker 2: hair issues like thinning, premature graying and of course in
[1:49] Speaker 2: addition to supplements and wearing a cap for scout protection
[1:53] Speaker 2: from the sun, etc. Thanks hmm.
[1:57] Speaker 1: I wouldn't bother personally, because I think that there are
[2:01] Speaker 1: so many good products these days that are specifically formulated
[2:06] Speaker 1: for your scalp. Okay, there are some brands just about
[2:09] Speaker 1: scalp pals.
[2:09] Speaker 2: That's what I wondered. When she says using serums, do
[2:11] Speaker 2: you think she's meaning face skin care on your head?
[2:14] Speaker 1: That's what I yeah, because otherwise yeah, no, I assume
[2:18] Speaker 1: so yeah, she's saying serum. So she means, like, why
[2:20] Speaker 1: wouldn't I just use my face serum instead of going
[2:22] Speaker 1: out and buying a scalp serum. Yes, I just think
[2:25] Speaker 1: I wouldn't.
[2:26] Speaker 2: Bother it's a waste of your good face.
[2:27] Speaker 1: Well, skincare is generally more expensive than scalp care. Plus
[2:32] Speaker 1: your skincare hasn't been formulated to go onto your scalp,
[2:35] Speaker 1: and like work with your hair. A lot of scalp
[2:37] Speaker 1: care products these days, you will not know that you've
[2:40] Speaker 1: got them. In agree that that I was going to say,
[2:42] Speaker 1: make your hair oily. They don't make it textured, they
[2:44] Speaker 1: don't make it like they literally water exactly, bit dries.
[2:48] Speaker 1: That's what I was thinking, because if she means using
[2:50] Speaker 1: face skincare on your scalp, usually it's quite hydrating or
[2:53] Speaker 1: wants to give you a glow, so it will make
[2:54] Speaker 1: your roots look quite oily or greasy. Yeah real.
[2:57] Speaker 2: Whereas Yeah, but there's plenty of hair specific serums that
[3:01] Speaker 2: can help. They can definitely help with hair fitning. There's heaps.
[3:05] Speaker 2: Premature graying is an interesting one. There's a few products
[3:08] Speaker 2: that are marketed, but you know, slowing down the graying process.
[3:12] Speaker 2: I've tried a couple. They have not worked. However, I
[3:15] Speaker 2: have been fully gray for twenty years, so I don't
[3:17] Speaker 2: know if it's too late.
[3:18] Speaker 1: I want to see your gray hair.
[3:19] Speaker 2: Ah, one day I can try it. No, I can
[3:22] Speaker 2: show you the skink like. I'm happy to just use
[3:28] Speaker 2: root touch up and color my hair every few weeks
[3:30] Speaker 2: because I have to. But for thinning, absolutely so. There's
[3:34] Speaker 2: so many that are specifically designed for the hair. I've
[3:37] Speaker 2: talked about the Type B one, the overnight boosting peptide
[3:40] Speaker 2: serum for hair growth that absolutely worked too well, to
[3:42] Speaker 2: the point I had to have my hair threaded between
[3:45] Speaker 2: my eyebrows and my hairline.
[3:47] Speaker 1: They're just turning back into Chewbacca from her teens. I
[3:50] Speaker 1: was lost about that.
[3:51] Speaker 2: In a few weeks ago, there's a really great new
[3:53] Speaker 2: one from Locks of Time. They've gone into hair for finishing.
[3:56] Speaker 2: Oh yes, that's so good. You can get some really
[3:58] Speaker 2: good ones at the supermarket. So I would just probably
[4:01] Speaker 2: get a hair specific one. Dermal therapy has the hair
[4:04] Speaker 2: restoring serum. There's plenty, so just get a hair one
[4:09] Speaker 2: and use that your hair for thickening, if that makes sense.
[4:12] Speaker 2: And like you say, supplements, absolutely anything that you ingest
[4:15] Speaker 2: is definitely gonna help. Like for me, I find that
[4:17] Speaker 2: my daily collagen that I have in my drink absolutely helps.
[4:21] Speaker 2: I don't wear a cap to protect my scalp from
[4:23] Speaker 2: the sun, but I don't want to go in the sun.
[4:25] Speaker 2: But that's also a very good thing.
[4:28] Speaker 1: After the break, We've got another question about retinal. Because
[4:32] Speaker 1: no one will ever get bored of talking of retinal.
[4:34] Speaker 2: It's a very confusing little thing.
[4:40] Speaker 1: All right. Stacier sentus an email. Hello, I have a
[4:43] Speaker 1: question f leeen Kelly. I love my retinal. I've been
[4:45] Speaker 1: using it for about five months and I feel like
[4:48] Speaker 1: my skin is so much firmer and less sliney. However,
[4:50] Speaker 1: it has made my skin so red and splotchy. I
[4:53] Speaker 1: think it is fled up like roseation between my brows
[4:56] Speaker 1: and around to my mouth. I don't want to give
[4:58] Speaker 1: up the retinal because with makeup on, my skin texture
[5:01] Speaker 1: is so good. But I feel like I don't want
[5:03] Speaker 1: to pop to the shops or go to the gym
[5:05] Speaker 1: without a BB because I have these red patches. Should
[5:08] Speaker 1: I change the strength or just give up?
[5:11] Speaker 2: Oh, don't give up, don't give up. You've come so fast, Stacy.
[5:16] Speaker 1: Yes, it's such a good question and such a simple answer.
[5:19] Speaker 2: I don't agree. Oh well, she says she thinks it's
[5:22] Speaker 2: flared up rose sha between her brows and around her mouth,
[5:25] Speaker 2: and now she's getting blotchy in some sections. So I
[5:27] Speaker 2: wonder if she knew or has rose sha or had
[5:30] Speaker 2: it before. So that's because there's you know, definitely levels
[5:33] Speaker 2: or specific rednoles you should use if you are rose
[5:36] Speaker 2: sha prone. But you're saying with makeup on your skin
[5:39] Speaker 2: smooth and less liney, great, but the red and the
[5:41] Speaker 2: blotchain e. I'd love to know what you're using. The
[5:45] Speaker 2: fact that we don't know what we're talking about here
[5:47] Speaker 2: is really stressing me out. But what I would suggest is,
[5:49] Speaker 2: you've come so far you like the results. I'd pair
[5:51] Speaker 2: it back. So say you're doing three nights a week, Well,
[5:55] Speaker 2: we're probably gonna have to look at it at a fortnight.
[5:57] Speaker 2: So instead of doing it every second night, do it
[5:59] Speaker 2: every third night or every four nights, just you know,
[6:02] Speaker 2: so you're doing the same thing. It's kind of like
[6:04] Speaker 2: going to the gym. Maybe you've worked out too much
[6:07] Speaker 2: and your muscles are too sore. Keep going to the gym,
[6:09] Speaker 2: but don't go as often.
[6:10] Speaker 1: I need to rest.
[6:12] Speaker 2: You need to rest, so I would probably do that
[6:14] Speaker 2: and see if that kind of helps with the redness,
[6:16] Speaker 2: and then I would use on the other nights and
[6:18] Speaker 2: all mornings something to strengthen the skin barrier. So I've
[6:21] Speaker 2: got a few recommendations for you. I mean, I'm sure
[6:24] Speaker 2: you're doing hydration, but there's hydration and then there's sort
[6:27] Speaker 2: of strengthening and repairing. So a couple that you might
[6:30] Speaker 2: want to try. We talk about this one all the time,
[6:32] Speaker 2: the TBH Rebound Serum. It's fantastic. You can get at supermarket,
[6:36] Speaker 2: you can get a price line, or you can get
[6:37] Speaker 2: it online. Keels has a beautiful one. It's called the
[6:41] Speaker 2: Vital Skin Strengthening super Serum. It's one hundred and sixteen dollars,
[6:45] Speaker 2: but it's got a lot of very good reviews. Another
[6:48] Speaker 2: one of my personal favorites that I love is the
[6:51] Speaker 2: Ordinary Soothing and Barrier Support Serum. That's twenty nine bucks.
[6:55] Speaker 2: That's a pink one, it's like bright pink, and Dermologica
[6:58] Speaker 2: Dynamic Skin Strengthening Serum one hundred and fifty three dollars.
[7:03] Speaker 2: And one more, just because we like options, is that
[7:05] Speaker 2: I think you like this one is the Esmi probiotic
[7:08] Speaker 2: skin milk and it's a calming, milky probiotic serum.
[7:12] Speaker 1: I love that.
[7:13] Speaker 2: That would be really good, So I would like this
[7:14] Speaker 2: is a sexual podcast.
[7:16] Speaker 1: I really like that one.
[7:17] Speaker 2: So keep going to the gym, keep using the ret nul,
[7:20] Speaker 2: but go as often and make sure you're having rest days.
[7:23] Speaker 2: Which is your barrier support? What do you reckon?
[7:26] Speaker 1: No? I do actually completely agree with you.
[7:28] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[7:29] Speaker 1: Another option though, could be that she just carries on
[7:32] Speaker 1: the way that she's carrying on, but don't apply it
[7:35] Speaker 1: to the areas that you get red and blotchy. Yeah,
[7:37] Speaker 1: put a barrier cream down first, yeah, yeah, like the
[7:40] Speaker 1: doctor w wins seramaid balm, or even just your lip balm,
[7:44] Speaker 1: like your poor poor or whatever you've got. Just put
[7:46] Speaker 1: something down first in that area, on the areas where
[7:49] Speaker 1: you go red and blotchy, and then go in because
[7:51] Speaker 1: the retina won't penetrate as the same effect, or don't
[7:54] Speaker 1: put it on those areas.
[7:55] Speaker 2: Interesting. I really want to know what she's using. And
[7:57] Speaker 2: that's a really good question. I just hate enduring any
[8:01] Speaker 2: form of perrotation or irritation. Having said that, I've got
[8:04] Speaker 2: now got dermatitis all under my eyebrows. Maybe she's given
[8:07] Speaker 2: it to me and I'm not all.
[8:08] Speaker 1: I can see you've just done that with your face?
[8:10] Speaker 1: Is it? Your lashes are so long that miscaa has
[8:12] Speaker 1: transferred a little bit.
[8:13] Speaker 2: Oh well, thank you for telling me. And guess what, Mascar,
[8:15] Speaker 2: I'm using the one you don't like. Well, yeah, because
[8:19] Speaker 2: it's transferred.
[8:20] Speaker 1: So maybe this is.
[8:20] Speaker 2: My eyelashes so long, Frabe, I've.
[8:23] Speaker 1: Just proved you right that it's not that great.
[8:26] Speaker 2: If you don't know what we're talking about. Listened to
[8:28] Speaker 2: last week's episode, and up next we have our host
[8:31] Speaker 2: hacks and mine is a little bit left of center.
[8:39] Speaker 2: What you makeup packs. So my husband reminded me of
[8:45] Speaker 2: this the other day, that I do this with many things.
[8:48] Speaker 2: We were having breakfast out and it's quite cold now,
[8:51] Speaker 2: it's practically winter, and you know when you order something
[8:54] Speaker 2: and then they bring you like the toast or the
[8:55] Speaker 2: croissant or whatever, and then the butter, like the little
[8:59] Speaker 2: plastic thing of butter with the thing has been in
[9:01] Speaker 2: the fridge or the freeze when it's freezing and you
[9:03] Speaker 2: can't spread it on your toast.
[9:04] Speaker 1: Oh and it's never enough. You boys could ask for
[9:06] Speaker 1: tool totally.
[9:06] Speaker 2: So I just honestly, I get mine, and I get Alexanders,
[9:09] Speaker 2: and I just put in my bra and I warm
[9:10] Speaker 2: them up.
[9:11] Speaker 1: And Rich goes, oh, such a weird thing to do
[9:13] Speaker 1: in public. I don't like take my top off. I
[9:15] Speaker 1: just just.
[9:16] Speaker 2: Now imagining you that you're like opening up your top.
[9:20] Speaker 2: But Rich goes, oh, yep, it's winter here. She goes
[9:22] Speaker 2: putting things in her bra And I do this too
[9:24] Speaker 2: with my lip bumps. So if I've got lots of
[9:26] Speaker 2: lip balms that live in the car, and particularly if
[9:28] Speaker 2: they're natural, like a lanolen or your first thing in
[9:30] Speaker 2: the morning when your car's freeze, yeah, and they're like
[9:32] Speaker 2: concrete and you're trying to do your lips because your
[9:34] Speaker 2: lips are dry and you can't squeeze it. And then
[9:36] Speaker 2: if you squeeze it sometimes it uncrimps the crimp and
[9:38] Speaker 2: explodes everywhere. That happened to you. So when I get
[9:41] Speaker 2: in the car first thing in the morning, i'd pick
[9:42] Speaker 2: up my car lip bum I put it in my bra,
[9:45] Speaker 2: start driving. A few minutes later, my body heat has
[9:47] Speaker 2: just warmed up my lip balm, and off I go
[9:50] Speaker 2: softened dish. Yeesh, it's so good. So if you've got
[9:53] Speaker 2: hard butter. Whack it in your bra. If you've got ferm,
[9:55] Speaker 2: lip balm, whack it in your bra and your body
[9:57] Speaker 2: heat will just make it the most beautiful consistency and
[10:00] Speaker 2: you won't be using your freezing fingers running and get
[10:02] Speaker 2: some frozen lip bar out. See it wasn't that bad.
[10:06] Speaker 1: Everything in your bra is better, including your breast.
[10:09] Speaker 2: And then you could put some balm on you nips
[10:10] Speaker 2: and happy days.
[10:11] Speaker 1: And they won't get cold either. Well, they won't get.
[10:13] Speaker 2: Frosty, they won't get wind wind burn.
[10:17] Speaker 1: Yes, ah, so it is, as Lee has just pointed out,
[10:20] Speaker 1: very cold. And I have to wash my hair on
[10:24] Speaker 1: a Wednesday. Now what because okay, let's back it up
[10:30] Speaker 1: a little bit. Thursday morning I have a very early
[10:32] Speaker 1: start and I need nice hair for the day. Wednesday
[10:36] Speaker 1: night I have netball. Oh, sweaty, but it finishes so late.
[10:40] Speaker 1: Oh I'm tired that I have to wash my hair
[10:42] Speaker 1: prior anyway, Yes, which I know sounds wild. So sweaty, wash,
[10:48] Speaker 1: blow dry everything bright to netball?
[10:51] Speaker 2: Are they like? Okay, girls, this is your best outing of
[10:53] Speaker 2: the wind.
[10:53] Speaker 1: Literally. And then so the other night I got home
[10:56] Speaker 1: and I was like, ahts, I did not have any
[10:59] Speaker 1: dry shampoo, because usually then I would just put dry
[11:02] Speaker 1: shampoo in after net as soon as I was home
[11:05] Speaker 1: from netblaw while my hair was still sweaty, and then
[11:08] Speaker 1: by the morning it's like completely fine and like smell. No, Okay,
[11:12] Speaker 1: I'm quite good at it, but I don't sweat that much. Okay,
[11:15] Speaker 1: it's damp, it's not wet. Okay, god Lee's like.
[11:20] Speaker 2: But no, But I honestly love the like secret lives
[11:23] Speaker 2: of how people do their hygiene and their routines. It's
[11:25] Speaker 2: so fascinating.
[11:26] Speaker 1: Yeah, so my hair is still clean, it's just that
[11:28] Speaker 1: it's a bit damp. And because my hair gets so
[11:31] Speaker 1: oily so quickly, I know that if I didn't dry
[11:35] Speaker 1: shampoo or anything the next morning, it would be just
[11:37] Speaker 1: yuck and it would not look like i'd washed it
[11:39] Speaker 1: the day before. Alas I had no dry shampoo. So
[11:43] Speaker 1: do you know what I did? My hair dry was
[11:45] Speaker 1: still out from blow drying my hair before netball, while
[11:47] Speaker 1: it was still damp. I just absolutely blasted the sweaty
[11:51] Speaker 1: bits with the blow dryer.
[11:52] Speaker 2: With cold or hot hot.
[11:54] Speaker 1: Yeah, probably because I was trying to do it quickly.
[11:56] Speaker 1: Oh my goodness, my hair was not sweaty, and.
[11:58] Speaker 2: Because it was almost like, oh wait, did we just
[12:00] Speaker 2: get out of the shower again?
[12:01] Speaker 1: Forgot Yeah, because it was just so quick, so I
[12:04] Speaker 1: guess I'm still so clean. Yeah, that wouldn't work if
[12:07] Speaker 1: your hair was sweaty, but that bit damp.
[12:09] Speaker 2: Yeah, you can get away perspiration, and that would.
[12:12] Speaker 1: Work the same if you know, if you go to
[12:13] Speaker 1: the gym in the morning and then you want to
[12:14] Speaker 1: get ready for work, just blast it with.
[12:16] Speaker 2: When I used to go to the gym in the
[12:17] Speaker 2: morning before work, I would do that, but because I'd
[12:19] Speaker 2: still be so hot from the workout, I'm guessing by
[12:21] Speaker 2: the time you got home you went too hot. I
[12:22] Speaker 2: would use a cold setting. Yeah, and it's cold. Yeah,
[12:25] Speaker 2: see this is summer. I was shitzy. I would use
[12:27] Speaker 2: the cold setting. Takes on going to dry it kind
[12:28] Speaker 2: of work, mamma.
[12:31] Speaker 1: Anyway, for anyone that doesn't want to use product, doesn't
[12:34] Speaker 1: like dry shampoo, doesn't have dry shampoo.
[12:35] Speaker 2: Do you wash your hair another day or I'm drinking
[12:39] Speaker 2: Oh great, Okay. I was just so confused because I
[12:41] Speaker 2: thought you were no, no, no, I've got real dirty hair.
[12:44] Speaker 1: I have to And also I have like, yeah, a
[12:46] Speaker 1: thing about cleanliness, and no judgment to anyone that doesn't
[12:49] Speaker 1: wash their hair, but like I simply cannot.
[12:51] Speaker 2: I've got a friend who's got such dry skin and
[12:53] Speaker 2: dry scalp that she can do it once a fortnight,
[12:56] Speaker 2: and I'm so jealous of that.
[12:57] Speaker 1: But no, I don't like that because my pillow.
[13:00] Speaker 2: But it wouldn't be because she's dry anyway, but it
[13:02] Speaker 2: would smell still of what just life?
[13:05] Speaker 1: If you cook a barbecue, does your hair not smell
[13:07] Speaker 1: like meat?
[13:08] Speaker 2: I don't know. Thank you for listening, and don't forget.
