[0:08] Speaker 1: You're listening to a Mom with mea podcast. Whoever said
[0:16] Speaker 1: orange is a new pink with seriously.
[0:18] Speaker 2: Disturbed laurels for spraying groundbreaking? Oh my god, you have
[0:22] Speaker 2: to do it. You live for fashion.
[0:26] Speaker 1: Hello, and welcome to Nothing to Wear the podcast. It
[0:28] Speaker 1: solves fashion problems and levels up your wardrobe. I'm Lee
[0:31] Speaker 1: Campbell and every week I chat to an expert who
[0:34] Speaker 1: helps us work out how to get more out of
[0:35] Speaker 1: the clothes you already own and tells us what is
[0:38] Speaker 1: and isn't worth adding to our wardrobes. Now, returning on
[0:41] Speaker 1: the couch with Me today is the fabulous Donnie Galella.
[0:45] Speaker 1: He is a stylist to the stars, but also us
[0:47] Speaker 1: regular women too. He has hundreds of thousands of social
[0:51] Speaker 1: media followers, and that's because he's realistic. He shops at
[0:54] Speaker 1: quote unquote normal shops. We don't have to have millions
[0:57] Speaker 1: of dollars to feel a million dollars. And he also
[0:59] Speaker 1: has the best little hacks and tricks for making what
[1:02] Speaker 1: we already have feel current and fresh. It's all in
[1:04] Speaker 1: the little tweaks. Last time Donnie was Nothing to Wear.
[1:07] Speaker 1: He helped solve so many fashion dilemmas. So we have
[1:10] Speaker 1: a whole new bunch of fresh dilemmas to solve, from
[1:14] Speaker 1: what to do when it's pouring outside, what's the one
[1:17] Speaker 1: jacket you might need for winter? And what are the
[1:19] Speaker 1: trends coming up hitting the stores right now? Let's get
[1:21] Speaker 1: into it with the fabulous Donnie, Donnie my friend, welcome
[1:24] Speaker 1: back to Nothing to Wear. I can't wait to chat
[1:27] Speaker 1: to you. We've got many dilemmas for you to solve.
[1:29] Speaker 1: But first, I think you can learn a lot about
[1:31] Speaker 1: someone from their algorithms. So what is popping up on
[1:34] Speaker 1: yours in the fashion world?
[1:36] Speaker 3: Oh my god, it's that's a mishmash of things at
[1:38] Speaker 3: the moment. But I'm seeing there's lots of funnel necks.
[1:41] Speaker 1: Yes, not spiders, not spiders.
[1:43] Speaker 3: Yeah, jackets, pussy pussy boo blouse.
[1:46] Speaker 2: God, I haven't seen that part.
[1:48] Speaker 3: I'm seeing lots of gorgeous coats, many many handsome looking
[1:52] Speaker 3: models because I've just had Fashion Week as well, lots
[1:55] Speaker 3: of gorgeous Fashion Week imagery. And there's lots of frozen
[1:58] Speaker 3: yolk because I love my frozen Yeah.
[2:01] Speaker 1: We live local, and so I know why you're getting
[2:02] Speaker 1: that me too. It's interesting, I think, because you know
[2:04] Speaker 1: we've kind of just hit autumn, but the retailers are like, right,
[2:08] Speaker 1: here's autumn winter drop one. So suddenly it's just full
[2:11] Speaker 1: of like new season, which is exciting, but you're also like, whoa,
[2:13] Speaker 1: hang on, it's still quite warm, absolutely, but it's just
[2:16] Speaker 1: coming through. Whereas that kind of end of fab you're like, wow,
[2:19] Speaker 1: there's nothing, which is kind of good for shopping, lots
[2:22] Speaker 1: of sales, and then it's like, here's the new season.
[2:24] Speaker 1: Ye mine interestingly, well not interestingly, but the algorithm's clever.
[2:28] Speaker 1: Is all secondhand, pre loved thrifting, you know, luxury designer
[2:32] Speaker 1: secondhand and all the stats of whity. It's so much
[2:35] Speaker 1: better for the environment and for this, and so it's
[2:37] Speaker 1: just really self affirming that you know, my passion is right.
[2:41] Speaker 2: It knows you well, it knows me well.
[2:43] Speaker 1: I haven't seen the pussy bow blouse, so I remember
[2:46] Speaker 1: back it's shopped you drop days. I had to do
[2:48] Speaker 1: a week of wearing a different pussy bow blows per day.
[2:52] Speaker 1: This is when a photographer would come take the photo
[2:53] Speaker 1: and it ended up in the magazine. And for those
[2:55] Speaker 1: that don't know what a pussy bow blow is, it's
[2:57] Speaker 1: like a high necked like shirt but then often sat
[3:01] Speaker 1: and a big bow and for someone with a large
[3:03] Speaker 1: bust and then a big bow. It was not a
[3:06] Speaker 1: vie but hey, that was twenty years ago.
[3:09] Speaker 3: And last it's on O Wrench. It's a Laurent show.
[3:12] Speaker 3: It was everywhere, so it's making a huge comeback.
[3:15] Speaker 2: I'll try it.
[3:15] Speaker 1: Again, but I do have a bit of bad memories. Okay, So,
[3:19] Speaker 1: as I said, you are the best dilemma Solba because
[3:21] Speaker 1: you see it all your algorithm, your clients, within the industry.
[3:25] Speaker 1: So we've got a bunch of questions to ask you. Firstly,
[3:29] Speaker 1: basically the whole Muma Mer office lined up to submit
[3:31] Speaker 1: their questions and we've picked four from there, and then
[3:34] Speaker 1: we opened it up to the Nothing to Wear audience,
[3:36] Speaker 1: so we'll get into their questions. Cool first, Molly. I
[3:39] Speaker 1: had to put Molly first because she's the boss of
[3:40] Speaker 1: this podcast and this has happened to her a few times.
[3:44] Speaker 1: How do you look chic when it's bucketing down? Is
[3:47] Speaker 1: there anywhere to find cute raincoats and gum boots?
[3:50] Speaker 2: That is a fan has questions have a bit of
[3:52] Speaker 2: rain lately?
[3:54] Speaker 3: I think the best thing to have in your wardrobe
[3:56] Speaker 3: is a longline trench coat that is water resistant. Now
[4:00] Speaker 3: you can't always find them everywhere, but I've done a
[4:03] Speaker 3: bit of research and Asos have one now for one
[4:05] Speaker 3: hundred and seven dollars. It's looks so she comes in
[4:07] Speaker 3: about four colors, and she just could have a new
[4:10] Speaker 3: wardrobe because you look chic. You can get wet, you'll
[4:12] Speaker 3: be dry, keep you a bit warm.
[4:13] Speaker 1: Or hang it like I have mine hanging right by
[4:15] Speaker 1: the door because when I do school drop off, I'm like, okay,
[4:17] Speaker 1: it's raining and.
[4:18] Speaker 3: I work, or in your car sometime sometimes Zara has one.
[4:21] Speaker 3: To Cama have this kind of rubber longline jacket so
[4:26] Speaker 3: it's waterproof. I think it's about thirty five dollars. That's
[4:29] Speaker 3: a really good affordable option. And then you want to
[4:31] Speaker 3: keep your feet warm, right, so I think the Ferrari
[4:34] Speaker 3: and dry. So obviously that the Hunter boot that's like
[4:37] Speaker 3: the Ferrari of gum boots, you know, gorgeous but expensive,
[4:40] Speaker 3: bout tw hundred bucks' expensive for rubber. Big w have
[4:43] Speaker 3: a version, not a juke but similar. It's called the Taramara.
[4:46] Speaker 2: Boot for fifty bucks and she's a bit gorgeou.
[4:49] Speaker 1: Really, I think that's going to solve my problem. I've
[4:51] Speaker 1: got the raincoat situation sort of because as I said,
[4:53] Speaker 1: I used to just avoid rain if I could, But
[4:56] Speaker 1: now with a child that I walk to school, you
[4:58] Speaker 1: can't just be like, sorry, school, we're not coming.
[5:01] Speaker 3: You know.
[5:01] Speaker 2: Umbrellas are good, but if it's a windy day, it
[5:04] Speaker 2: ain't carry the child's umbrella. Your umbrella, your bag.
[5:06] Speaker 1: There bag, And even if it's just me coming to
[5:09] Speaker 1: the office, forget it. I'm carrying too much. I'll poke
[5:11] Speaker 1: someone's eyes out. I've got a very old and still
[5:14] Speaker 1: an excellent condition Lulu Lemon raincoat that's hanging on the thing.
[5:18] Speaker 1: It's a bit raincoating, but it's quite okay. And then
[5:20] Speaker 1: I've still got which you reminded me, of course, I
[5:22] Speaker 1: can wear in the rain for that short walk. Is
[5:24] Speaker 1: one of the original sort of m ands trench coats,
[5:27] Speaker 1: and there's obviously being from the UK. They're very water resistant,
[5:31] Speaker 1: and I think even the.
[5:32] Speaker 3: Good bird breed trenches I'm pretty sure the water resistant too.
[5:34] Speaker 3: So if you want to go full lux, a good
[5:37] Speaker 3: trench coat that is water resistant, and then you've got
[5:40] Speaker 3: a good trench and something good for the rain, and
[5:42] Speaker 3: look for second hand. Oh absolutely, oh good.
[5:45] Speaker 1: I'm glad I can put my umbrella away because I
[5:47] Speaker 1: break them all the time.
[5:48] Speaker 2: Okay.
[5:48] Speaker 1: The Lovely Lou said that she needs help with shoes.
[5:51] Speaker 1: She doesn't want to buy a new pair of shoes
[5:53] Speaker 1: every season.
[5:54] Speaker 2: Oh that's good, that's good. We love them.
[5:57] Speaker 1: I don't say every month. But she feels like she
[5:59] Speaker 1: hasn't nailed her capsule wardrobe for shoes. Oh that's a
[6:02] Speaker 1: good one. Bonus points for well made shoes that last
[6:05] Speaker 1: and don't cost an arm on are like, well, Lou,
[6:07] Speaker 1: this is a hard one.
[6:08] Speaker 3: Okay, okay, all right, Well, I think there's about six
[6:11] Speaker 3: or seven pair that would get you through every dressing occasion.
[6:15] Speaker 3: So let's start from the top. A nude and a
[6:17] Speaker 3: black hill, because.
[6:18] Speaker 2: They're going to go with everything.
[6:19] Speaker 3: The nude heal with everything's going to elongate your leg
[6:22] Speaker 3: both styles.
[6:23] Speaker 2: Think a classic point pump timeless. Yeah, I agree, it's
[6:26] Speaker 2: going to get you around all year round, right, so ticktick.
[6:29] Speaker 3: Then you want some flats, and I think a good
[6:31] Speaker 3: classic ballet flat again chic timeless. I do you like
[6:34] Speaker 3: the slightly pointed again it's going to elongate the leg.
[6:37] Speaker 2: Me too.
[6:37] Speaker 1: It's a bit cooler than that, very sort of round stubbiness.
[6:39] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[6:40] Speaker 1: Not loving the square toast situation, but it just looks
[6:43] Speaker 1: like someone cut my shoe off.
[6:44] Speaker 2: Yeah, I say no to that. Good ballot flat again,
[6:46] Speaker 2: nude and black.
[6:48] Speaker 3: I think just an all good, all white sneaker playing
[6:50] Speaker 3: all white sneaker.
[6:51] Speaker 2: Nothing too chunky. I think a little bit more on
[6:53] Speaker 2: the slim line. It isn't too much branding either, minimal branding.
[6:56] Speaker 2: Cute laces that.
[6:58] Speaker 1: I love, and then they're just so stretchedful on perfect.
[7:00] Speaker 1: Lot of people ask whe they're from. And I literally
[7:02] Speaker 1: bought them because they're bright white and I can bleach them.
[7:04] Speaker 3: And wash them and I've washed them a million times
[7:05] Speaker 3: from in the washing machine.
[7:08] Speaker 2: Perfect or what sneaker love?
[7:10] Speaker 3: A pair of slides obviously for the summer months, easy
[7:13] Speaker 3: to wear.
[7:14] Speaker 2: And then a nice pair of boots.
[7:15] Speaker 3: So I think a good black pair of boots, maybe
[7:17] Speaker 3: knee high, fight high.
[7:19] Speaker 2: If you want, because.
[7:21] Speaker 1: Something under a skirt, yeah.
[7:24] Speaker 3: Exactly, layer them, get maybe slightly thicker heels so you
[7:28] Speaker 3: get you know, they're more comfortable. My tips and hype
[7:31] Speaker 3: that you feel good in when possible, investing in leather
[7:34] Speaker 3: because that's.
[7:34] Speaker 2: Going to give you longevity. They're going to stretch of
[7:36] Speaker 2: be more comfortable.
[7:38] Speaker 3: And when shopping for them, you know, maybe you look
[7:39] Speaker 3: at the media sales end of your sales. That's when
[7:42] Speaker 3: you get some great bargains warehouse deals, you know, like
[7:44] Speaker 3: Witner had a big closing, Werehouse still recently had some
[7:47] Speaker 3: great prices. So if you shop at the right time,
[7:49] Speaker 3: you can get some good leather shoes at really good prices.
[7:51] Speaker 1: Yes, and also because the stars you've recommended are quite
[7:54] Speaker 1: classic and versatile, you don't have to go get the newest,
[7:56] Speaker 1: latest ones that.
[7:57] Speaker 2: Are quite expensive. You can probably find.
[7:59] Speaker 1: A really good quality pair that are two seasons old,
[8:02] Speaker 1: but it's still you know, on sale or in store
[8:05] Speaker 1: because they'll look quite similar if they're class.
[8:07] Speaker 3: And I think you told me last time Target that
[8:09] Speaker 3: hasn't Swede shoes and Swede boots, oh my gosh, which
[8:11] Speaker 3: is probably like about fifty sixty bars.
[8:13] Speaker 2: It's so good.
[8:14] Speaker 1: And now they've got the big Swaye tote for a
[8:15] Speaker 1: hundred Honestly, yeah, it's a kind of thing. I think
[8:18] Speaker 1: she doesn't want to rush into it, so I would like,
[8:21] Speaker 1: you know, do a bit of research.
[8:22] Speaker 2: I love Swede.
[8:23] Speaker 1: It's not quite as durable, however, it feels I think
[8:26] Speaker 1: a little bit more lux, and I just go to
[8:27] Speaker 1: town with the waterproofer and then if I've worn it
[8:30] Speaker 1: out on a particularly dusty day or damp day, then
[8:32] Speaker 1: I like, I really do care for my Swede shoes
[8:34] Speaker 1: more than anything else. I'd give them another go. And
[8:37] Speaker 1: my favorite pair of probably seven years old and they're
[8:38] Speaker 1: still a pretty good perfect I know, all right, This
[8:43] Speaker 1: one made me laugh and most people would need to
[8:46] Speaker 1: know a child to understand the reference. But Talia said,
[8:48] Speaker 1: is there such thing as a chic backpack? I prefer
[8:51] Speaker 1: not looking like Dora the Explorer Dora.
[8:55] Speaker 3: I love Dora, She's my hero. I look like Dora
[8:57] Speaker 3: every day. When I walked to the.
[8:58] Speaker 1: Gym Explorer when I had my Bob, I quite looked
[9:02] Speaker 1: like Dora.
[9:03] Speaker 2: At facts can be she they are.
[9:05] Speaker 3: And I again did a little bit of research and
[9:06] Speaker 3: found some great ones. Almost bought one last night when
[9:08] Speaker 3: I was researching.
[9:09] Speaker 1: Back needs ones.
[9:12] Speaker 3: Oraton have an outlet so on my Orton outlets the
[9:16] Speaker 3: Whole Separate website's Oroton. Yes, and I found a black
[9:19] Speaker 3: Oriton backpack, black leather, gold zip super lux.
[9:23] Speaker 2: I think it's usually about four hundred down to two thirty.
[9:25] Speaker 1: Nine and then sometimes the outlet goes on sales.
[9:28] Speaker 3: Yes, and that you know, so I thought that was
[9:29] Speaker 3: a good one. There's a label called Bell and Bloom.
[9:32] Speaker 1: Yes, they're very popular and carfin a lot of searchers.
[9:34] Speaker 2: Yeah, I had really go on about one seventy.
[9:36] Speaker 3: And then there's a label called Nordous nordc Nordous Beautiful
[9:41] Speaker 3: black quilted gold hardware on it for ninety nine bucks.
[9:44] Speaker 3: So absolutely there's some great ones there.
[9:47] Speaker 1: Can I check in a recommendation too, because I only
[9:49] Speaker 1: discovered this after my child was not a baby. But
[9:51] Speaker 1: there's a specific you know, it's made for baby bags,
[9:54] Speaker 1: but it's called Totty, this Australian made brand. But they
[9:58] Speaker 1: do a very stylish leather backpacking. I think a black well,
[10:01] Speaker 1: definitely a black ben it's like a Kamalie nude, and
[10:03] Speaker 1: it's got compartments because it's meant to be for like
[10:05] Speaker 1: baby bottles and stuff, but it just looks so stylish.
[10:08] Speaker 1: My business partners kids are now like eight nine and
[10:12] Speaker 1: she still uses hers and it's in such good condition,
[10:14] Speaker 1: perfect and you would never guess that it was a
[10:16] Speaker 1: baby bag or you know, it's just a.
[10:17] Speaker 2: Stylish backpack amazing. That's what you need.
[10:19] Speaker 1: One more, you know that. I like, just remember because
[10:21] Speaker 1: I've got this one at home. Visturcy, the Melbourne Ossie brand.
[10:25] Speaker 1: They have the convertible one that's like you can it's
[10:27] Speaker 1: a shoulder bag. But then if you do something tricky
[10:30] Speaker 1: with the straps, you can put it on like that.
[10:31] Speaker 2: It's like slouchy. That's very cool.
[10:33] Speaker 1: And sometimes they second sat a tiny.
[10:36] Speaker 2: Scratch and you know what TK Max. Oh my gosh,
[10:39] Speaker 2: we just got a t K Max near us.
[10:41] Speaker 3: Yes, it's like a lucky dip. But you can have
[10:43] Speaker 3: a good day.
[10:45] Speaker 2: And they spoted some great bag and wallets.
[10:48] Speaker 1: Selection I find in any tax is quite big. It's
[10:51] Speaker 1: so funny you say that. I went to go to
[10:52] Speaker 1: the shop that used to be there the other day
[10:54] Speaker 1: and I was like, oh oh it's.
[10:56] Speaker 3: Coming when your favorite past I'll just walk in and
[10:58] Speaker 3: be like all I today a new lampshade in your backpack.
[11:02] Speaker 2: I don't know who. I love it.
[11:04] Speaker 1: Okay. Gemma has an excellent question, and I think a
[11:07] Speaker 1: lot of people will have come to you with perhaps
[11:09] Speaker 1: do all bodies look good in oversized items or outfits?
[11:13] Speaker 1: And how can we nail this look without looking like a.
[11:16] Speaker 2: Blob the michelin man.
[11:19] Speaker 1: Look.
[11:19] Speaker 2: I get clients arsen all the time.
[11:20] Speaker 3: Look, I'm wearing these big bag of size jeans, but
[11:23] Speaker 3: I just feel so frumpy. It's like, don't wear it.
[11:26] Speaker 3: If you don't feel good in it, don't wear it.
[11:28] Speaker 3: Don't succumb to trends that you don't love.
[11:30] Speaker 2: Yes, I love that.
[11:31] Speaker 3: Okay, that's such a key thing. But I think it
[11:34] Speaker 3: comes down to styling as well. So if you do
[11:36] Speaker 3: have an oversized shirt, for example, that you must laugh
[11:39] Speaker 3: or want to wear, little tricks like a little bit
[11:42] Speaker 3: of a tuck, a French tark, half in, half out,
[11:44] Speaker 3: maybe a bit of.
[11:45] Speaker 2: A wrap tuck. Oh cool.
[11:47] Speaker 3: I love the elastic band trick where you get an
[11:49] Speaker 3: elastic band, you put it underneath the shirt, you kind
[11:53] Speaker 3: of grab a whole bunch of that fabric and you
[11:55] Speaker 3: do a little not and then it kind of creates
[11:57] Speaker 3: like this almost like a roosing effect.
[11:59] Speaker 2: It takes the bulk out.
[12:00] Speaker 1: Right, and you still got like the nice kind of
[12:02] Speaker 1: exactly oversized arm exactly.
[12:04] Speaker 3: But you're adding some shape around to give you a
[12:06] Speaker 3: bit of you know, a highlight around your waist or
[12:08] Speaker 3: broaches at the moment are such a big thing. If
[12:10] Speaker 3: you've got something oversized, just kind of like tie tie
[12:13] Speaker 3: and add a little brooch.
[12:14] Speaker 1: I kind of a bunch of what I was going
[12:16] Speaker 1: to say, vintage. They're just secondhand beautiful.
[12:18] Speaker 3: That's a great You can kind of a bit oversize shirt,
[12:21] Speaker 3: you kind of twist it all to one side, gather
[12:23] Speaker 3: it at a brooch, and it just makes it fitted,
[12:27] Speaker 3: you know, the brooch becomes a bit of a feature.
[12:29] Speaker 2: So clever. Amazing with that as well.
[12:31] Speaker 1: I wondered your opinion on proportion because I'm not particularly tall,
[12:36] Speaker 1: and I feel like if I do both oversize sometimes
[12:39] Speaker 1: I look like I'm a little kid wearing mate grown
[12:41] Speaker 1: ups closed.
[12:41] Speaker 3: Right, It's all about proportions. So for example, you want
[12:44] Speaker 3: to wear that bag your pant, adding a heel, adding
[12:47] Speaker 3: a platform underneath is definitely a great.
[12:51] Speaker 2: Idea and slimmer on top of it.
[12:53] Speaker 3: Again again, if you're then big volume down there, more
[12:56] Speaker 3: fitted up the top, and vice versa. If you're going
[12:58] Speaker 3: big the top a little bit more fitted. Because it's
[13:01] Speaker 3: all about proportions.
[13:02] Speaker 2: That makes sense.
[13:02] Speaker 3: If you're going big up here, big down there, you
[13:05] Speaker 3: will look like the Michelin.
[13:06] Speaker 1: That's always what I do wrong. And I often reach
[13:09] Speaker 1: for two. I've realized, sort of subconsciously, I always reach
[13:11] Speaker 1: for two oversized things if I'm not feeling great, if
[13:13] Speaker 1: I'm sad, if I'm getting my period, and then I'll go, oh,
[13:16] Speaker 1: this doesn't work. And now what I've realized is reach
[13:18] Speaker 1: for like a trapez MAXI or something. It gives me
[13:20] Speaker 1: the same feeling and not too many clothes, but it
[13:23] Speaker 1: still looks okay, whereas if I do it oversized top
[13:25] Speaker 1: and oversized bottom, it just looks weird. And coming up
[13:28] Speaker 1: after the break, we have a bunch of fantastic questions
[13:31] Speaker 1: sent in by you. Here we go these other audience
[13:43] Speaker 1: questions and they're fantastic. It was hard to choose, and
[13:45] Speaker 1: we've got a lot. We'll see what we can get through.
[13:48] Speaker 1: Because I was like, yes, yes, yes, yes, okay. The
[13:50] Speaker 1: first one is wow, I have no idea where the
[13:53] Speaker 1: start of the year rent because it's suddenly autumn. I
[13:56] Speaker 1: feel that my question is what are the three things?
[14:00] Speaker 1: Three specific? But you know you can tell us what
[14:03] Speaker 1: are the three things everyone should pull out of their wardrobe?
[14:05] Speaker 1: Now summer is over?
[14:07] Speaker 3: Oh okay, so if you're seeing this, this is your
[14:10] Speaker 3: sign to have your wardrobe seasonal rotation. This is where
[14:13] Speaker 3: you get all your summary things, pack them away, put
[14:16] Speaker 3: them in the back of the cupboard, and get out
[14:18] Speaker 3: your autumn pieces.
[14:20] Speaker 2: Where you live, I guess exactly things exactly exactly back
[14:25] Speaker 2: some of your swimmers.
[14:26] Speaker 3: Maybe there's some of those really light summary dresses and
[14:29] Speaker 3: time to bring out. I think those pieces now to
[14:31] Speaker 3: get us through the initial stages of the cooler month.
[14:33] Speaker 3: So I think a denim jacket, a leather jacket, maybe
[14:36] Speaker 3: a trench coat. They're just nice pieces that will just
[14:39] Speaker 3: give you a little bit of warmth on a cooler day.
[14:41] Speaker 3: Maybe bring out some of those sin knits as well
[14:44] Speaker 3: as you know, so those layering pieces. So I feel
[14:47] Speaker 3: they're probably some of the key things to be bringing
[14:50] Speaker 3: out out of the wardrobe right now.
[14:51] Speaker 1: I love denim. I've got a jenem jacket. Well, I
[14:53] Speaker 1: had a denim jacket on today, but it's like a
[14:55] Speaker 1: furnace in the studio. And I just love a dnim
[14:57] Speaker 1: jacket all year round, but high summer it's way too hot.
[15:01] Speaker 1: But now it's kind of like, okay, it's not going
[15:03] Speaker 1: to keep me super warm. Would probably wouldn't wear it
[15:05] Speaker 1: in July on its own. You know, but now it's
[15:07] Speaker 1: perfect and funny you say that. I'm very into a sheer,
[15:10] Speaker 1: sort of semi she vnut cardigan for work, obviously with
[15:13] Speaker 1: the ten kudaneas. But if I'm going somewhere, which I
[15:15] Speaker 1: don't really do it at the moment, but a little
[15:17] Speaker 1: lace bra you can't see too much, you know, and
[15:20] Speaker 1: then you can keep it open if you want an
[15:21] Speaker 1: extra Yeah. Okay, this is another great one. And your
[15:25] Speaker 1: personal opinion is fashion and choosing outfits better in summer
[15:29] Speaker 1: or winter for women?
[15:31] Speaker 3: Oh?
[15:32] Speaker 1: Do you find that your clients think it's easier or
[15:34] Speaker 1: harder to get dressed in winter?
[15:35] Speaker 2: Good question?
[15:36] Speaker 3: Okay, well I think I've got definitely a lot of
[15:38] Speaker 3: clients who think or some's really easier because it's about
[15:43] Speaker 3: being light, being cool, like.
[15:46] Speaker 2: Less decisions, less decisions.
[15:47] Speaker 3: Yeah, you want that light summer dress, want to keep cool,
[15:49] Speaker 3: you not be having hot flushes, you don't want to
[15:51] Speaker 3: wear too much.
[15:51] Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, well that's me.
[15:53] Speaker 3: So summer's probably easier, but I feel winters more fun.
[15:56] Speaker 2: I agree with you. Winter's more fun.
[15:58] Speaker 3: We get to play with colors, textures, layers, beautiful coats,
[16:02] Speaker 3: this warmth, feeling of being warm and feeling gorge.
[16:05] Speaker 1: Yeah, so exactly how I feel. I don't like summer.
[16:09] Speaker 1: I mean, I can just check on a dress, it's easy.
[16:10] Speaker 1: I don't need the layers. It doesn't matter if I
[16:12] Speaker 1: forget something. But winter is more fun.
[16:14] Speaker 2: Yeah. Great.
[16:15] Speaker 1: Then if I haven't sort of thought about it or
[16:16] Speaker 1: done the laundry, I'm like, ah, it's too hard in
[16:18] Speaker 1: the morning. You really got to have that extra time
[16:20] Speaker 1: to think about your layers.
[16:21] Speaker 2: I agree.
[16:22] Speaker 1: And so do you find that the clients that really
[16:24] Speaker 1: love summer struggle, like find summer easy to dress?
[16:27] Speaker 2: Do they struggle with winter? Is that where they come
[16:29] Speaker 2: to you for Yeah, I think exactly. So.
[16:31] Speaker 3: I've got some clients who are great at summer because
[16:33] Speaker 3: their wardrobes just will are really light pieces and very
[16:35] Speaker 3: beachy kind of people. But then when it's winter, they're like,
[16:38] Speaker 3: oh my god, what I do because I've got all
[16:40] Speaker 3: this this wardrobe of light summary pieces. And the key
[16:43] Speaker 3: thing I always love reminding them is, yeah, you have
[16:45] Speaker 3: that beautiful on a shirt dress.
[16:48] Speaker 2: You think it's just the summer, it's not.
[16:50] Speaker 3: You could actually light you could put something under the dress, yes,
[16:52] Speaker 3: then add a jacket or coat, you could layer some
[16:54] Speaker 3: boots underneath.
[16:55] Speaker 2: Yes.
[16:56] Speaker 3: So really key thing is you might have, you know,
[16:58] Speaker 3: all these great summer dresses. Don't just pack them away
[17:00] Speaker 3: thinking their summer wear them, layer them different ways of styling.
[17:04] Speaker 2: That's so true.
[17:05] Speaker 1: One of my girlfriends is very stylish always so prizes
[17:07] Speaker 1: me because she's got lots of like sort of silk
[17:09] Speaker 1: or satin like mini slick dresses, which I just automatically
[17:12] Speaker 1: think some up well, I think bed really, but then
[17:13] Speaker 1: she does like a sheer black tight and like a
[17:16] Speaker 1: platform and then a coach and I'm like, oh my gosh,
[17:18] Speaker 1: it's suddenly so cool in winter and a bit of
[17:20] Speaker 1: a contrast to the coat.
[17:22] Speaker 2: But the black sheer to any kind of strappy dress.
[17:25] Speaker 2: You can put a layer top underneath.
[17:27] Speaker 3: He care some opaque stockings, a layer it with a boot,
[17:30] Speaker 3: that codor jacket. Oh yeah, so maybe don't pack those
[17:33] Speaker 3: summer dresses way think about hay can actually wear.
[17:35] Speaker 1: Them'radicting, Yeah, my god, what do we do? But you're right,
[17:40] Speaker 1: you must get into someone's home or you know, see
[17:42] Speaker 1: their style and go right, you're a real summer lover,
[17:44] Speaker 1: you're a real outdoor lover, or you know, you can
[17:46] Speaker 1: see what they already have as to where they prefer
[17:48] Speaker 1: the most.
[17:49] Speaker 3: Literally, the minute I walk in someone's wardrobe, I find
[17:51] Speaker 3: a lot of people start going because this is my wardrobe,
[17:53] Speaker 3: that's my summer ware, that's my winter where, that's my
[17:56] Speaker 3: work where, that's my special occasion. When I'm like, stop
[17:59] Speaker 3: stop branding your wardrobe into categories.
[18:02] Speaker 2: Yeah, you're limiting yourself. Yeah, I mean that's your work
[18:04] Speaker 2: were but look at that suit.
[18:05] Speaker 3: You can actually wear that jack of you sit on
[18:07] Speaker 3: the weak can with a T shirt and a pair
[18:09] Speaker 3: of jeans.
[18:09] Speaker 2: Yeah. So does that blow people's mind? It does.
[18:12] Speaker 1: It still blows my mind sometimes that I'm allowed to
[18:14] Speaker 1: do that because I've purchased something or I've worn something
[18:16] Speaker 1: in a particular outfit, and then I'm like I should
[18:19] Speaker 1: try that.
[18:19] Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, yeah, you know, challenge yourself far with your wardrobe.
[18:23] Speaker 2: Or get a friend over.
[18:23] Speaker 1: If they can't have a donni get a friend put
[18:27] Speaker 1: him on an iPad. But I think if you get
[18:28] Speaker 1: a friend to go, hey, try this with that because
[18:30] Speaker 1: sometimes you just can't think.
[18:31] Speaker 2: Of it totally. I'm going to get you to come
[18:33] Speaker 2: over if you live down the ron.
[18:35] Speaker 1: Okay, this is a big one and I'm really excited
[18:37] Speaker 1: for this. I don't really follow trends. That's not me saying,
[18:39] Speaker 1: and I definitely do. This person says, I don't really
[18:42] Speaker 1: follow trends, but I do like knowing what they are
[18:44] Speaker 1: and learning about them.
[18:45] Speaker 2: Have you seen what's.
[18:46] Speaker 1: Coming for winter yet?
[18:47] Speaker 2: Oh? Yeah?
[18:48] Speaker 1: And if you have, what are the big themes on
[18:51] Speaker 1: the way?
[18:52] Speaker 3: Okay, where do we start? Let's start with colors? Okay,
[18:55] Speaker 3: So I feel the colors of this is on chocolate,
[18:59] Speaker 3: chocolate brown still a big thing.
[19:01] Speaker 2: Seeing it everywhere.
[19:02] Speaker 3: Yes, rustous, rusty colors, like that gorgeous cushion over there,
[19:07] Speaker 3: Olive kind of my green color today.
[19:09] Speaker 2: I think it's a colorguage. Plums and burgundy as well.
[19:14] Speaker 1: You know what, that's so good because we saw a
[19:16] Speaker 1: lot of that almost for two seasons.
[19:18] Speaker 2: And it's still around.
[19:18] Speaker 3: It's still around, always a good color for the Planet's
[19:21] Speaker 3: still there.
[19:22] Speaker 1: And I think, you know, we don't want the color,
[19:24] Speaker 1: which I mean you have to follow the transmit, to
[19:27] Speaker 1: change so rapidly that you don't wear the pieces that
[19:29] Speaker 1: you bought last season.
[19:30] Speaker 2: I mean, of course you can.
[19:32] Speaker 1: But burgundy came back maybe three years ago.
[19:34] Speaker 2: Still and it's still really Yeah, but olive.
[19:37] Speaker 1: And cary, anything in that kind of dirty army green.
[19:40] Speaker 2: Give it to me.
[19:42] Speaker 1: Can you go back to the funnel neck you mentioned
[19:43] Speaker 1: at the top of the exactly, so, because that's what
[19:46] Speaker 1: I'm seeing a lot on my algorithm.
[19:48] Speaker 2: What is a funnel neck?
[19:49] Speaker 3: So, I think a funnel in your kitchen, but in
[19:52] Speaker 3: a jacket and around your neck. Basically the collar is
[19:57] Speaker 3: just sitting upright, and a lot of jackets, you know,
[19:59] Speaker 3: if you button them up up it allows that just
[20:02] Speaker 3: to see it and it's great functional, keeps your neck.
[20:03] Speaker 2: Warm, yes, elongates the neck.
[20:06] Speaker 3: I'm a big and like you don't have to spend
[20:08] Speaker 3: a lot of money like I did spot a great
[20:10] Speaker 3: funnel necked denim jacket in Target for fifty bucks.
[20:12] Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, I saw that too, already sold out.
[20:18] Speaker 2: Again. Being a trend beast, I feel like you have
[20:20] Speaker 2: to spend a lot of eye on it.
[20:22] Speaker 1: But also you know what I found. I mean, I've
[20:23] Speaker 1: got some bomber jackets with that kind of college collarless one,
[20:26] Speaker 1: but then I've got some others with a collar that
[20:28] Speaker 1: you can kind of just zip to the top funnels itself.
[20:31] Speaker 1: You don't need to buy one exactly, and you can
[20:33] Speaker 1: kind of get I guess like the cropped trenchy style
[20:35] Speaker 1: and then a bomb style. I'm really into it. But
[20:38] Speaker 1: also if you fake tan on your next kind of
[20:39] Speaker 1: gone on modeline, you need to cover it up.
[20:41] Speaker 2: Yeah, I like how you thought about that. What else? What? Okay? Prints?
[20:48] Speaker 3: So we still seeing the polka dot, still seeing a
[20:50] Speaker 3: bit of the leopard, but deep print, dear print, dear print. Wow,
[20:55] Speaker 3: that's it's so unique. There seems to be the animal
[20:58] Speaker 3: print of why are the.
[21:00] Speaker 1: Polka dots coming through the winter Because I've got some
[21:02] Speaker 1: that I probably haven't well, I've worn them enough, but
[21:04] Speaker 1: I love them.
[21:05] Speaker 3: I feel it again, it's one of those prints that
[21:07] Speaker 3: is always going to be around, but we've seen designers
[21:09] Speaker 3: to really play with that, which I love.
[21:11] Speaker 1: I always think of Julia Roberts when she's doing in
[21:13] Speaker 1: the p Yeah, we're showing.
[21:19] Speaker 2: Brooches, which you touched on.
[21:21] Speaker 3: It's so fun because again I think broaches almost are
[21:24] Speaker 3: something you know, a different generation NaN's had the broaches
[21:28] Speaker 3: and they kind of lost and then it's just that
[21:31] Speaker 3: they're back in everywhere. So Julia Roberts the other week
[21:33] Speaker 3: wore broaches all down her tie, which was a really
[21:37] Speaker 3: cool look. You've seen them on jacket lapels, like I mentioned,
[21:41] Speaker 3: you can use them to kind of ju up and.
[21:42] Speaker 1: Now, so definitely, and that ties my love of thrifting
[21:47] Speaker 1: because if you do, if you're scared of thrifting or
[21:49] Speaker 1: sizings hard and you don't want to touch potentially dirty fabrics,
[21:53] Speaker 1: go to the jewelry section because you know you can
[21:56] Speaker 1: wpe it down.
[21:57] Speaker 2: It's normally very cheap.
[21:58] Speaker 1: You only need one because sometimes well I've been on
[22:01] Speaker 1: a mission lately to get two clip on earrings for
[22:04] Speaker 1: to put a little embellishment on my eyes. But oftentimes
[22:08] Speaker 1: the second one is broken or you know, it's hard
[22:11] Speaker 1: to find a good pair that are older and approaches.
[22:14] Speaker 1: If it's in good condition, you only need the one perfect.
[22:16] Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, I so broaches. I have fun with brooches, okay.
[22:19] Speaker 3: And then that kind of ties into the other maximalism
[22:21] Speaker 3: trend that we're kind of seeing. So we kind of
[22:23] Speaker 3: went through the whole minimalist beige less is less clean
[22:27] Speaker 3: lines and the clean girl aesthetic, and now it's the
[22:30] Speaker 3: flip of that maximalism more is more celebrate individuality, where
[22:35] Speaker 3: things you love be a bit of colectic look.
[22:37] Speaker 2: Bit in the city.
[22:39] Speaker 1: It's just like it doesn't have to be perfectly matching.
[22:41] Speaker 3: Yeah, so I kind of love that we're seeing the
[22:43] Speaker 3: maximalist trend as well.
[22:44] Speaker 2: Me too.
[22:45] Speaker 1: Sometimes I do that accidentally when it doesn't work, but
[22:47] Speaker 1: then I just check on an extra wrong piece and
[22:49] Speaker 1: I'm like, I.
[22:49] Speaker 2: Did that on PURSONCT. That's maximalized.
[22:52] Speaker 1: I just want to ask, because you're doing it today
[22:54] Speaker 1: and I tried to do it before I left the
[22:55] Speaker 1: house for chickened out. You're kind of well, you are
[22:57] Speaker 1: doing color blocking. You've got different shades of green, all
[23:00] Speaker 1: sort of olives and army greens, shirt, shoes, bag, what
[23:04] Speaker 1: are you missing pants?
[23:04] Speaker 2: Of course, your hats got my hands on.
[23:06] Speaker 1: Thank I'm seeing a bit of that on my algorithm too, Like,
[23:09] Speaker 1: you know, a baby blue jumper or cardigan with a
[23:12] Speaker 1: sort of bright blue skirt.
[23:14] Speaker 2: So are we doing that? And you know, is a
[23:16] Speaker 2: color booking idiot?
[23:17] Speaker 3: Yeah, it's wearing a color head to toe. It doesn't
[23:20] Speaker 3: have to be the same shade, but some of the
[23:22] Speaker 3: styling tricks behind it is when you wear a similar
[23:24] Speaker 3: color head to toe, you're creating a long visual line
[23:28] Speaker 3: of color which will make you look taller when you
[23:30] Speaker 3: wear two blocks of color.
[23:32] Speaker 2: So you wear a white T shirt and black pants.
[23:33] Speaker 3: You're cutting your body into two blocks, so it can shorten.
[23:36] Speaker 2: That happens to me. It just looks I want to.
[23:38] Speaker 3: Look six foot tall, so I'm wearing green head to toes.
[23:41] Speaker 3: That's making me look tall. And it's also easy to
[23:43] Speaker 3: get dressed when you have no idea what to wear.
[23:45] Speaker 1: Yes, well, if you love that color, you'll feel like I.
[23:48] Speaker 3: Just seek your favorite color and you grab your grab top,
[23:50] Speaker 3: grab a jacket, grabs some pants, all in similar shades.
[23:52] Speaker 1: But is there a trick to making making it not
[23:54] Speaker 1: look like you think it's a pair but you didn't
[23:56] Speaker 1: have your glasses on, or something like? Does the variation
[23:59] Speaker 1: have to be you know what? Maybe it's hard with black.
[24:01] Speaker 1: I tried to do it with black the other day,
[24:03] Speaker 1: but like I'd got my suit pieces mixed up.
[24:05] Speaker 3: I think black can work, but I think mixing textus
[24:07] Speaker 3: is nice. I remember a black leather skirt.
[24:10] Speaker 2: Maybe a nit, maybe some lace.
[24:14] Speaker 3: Because when you mix all different layers of textures are black,
[24:17] Speaker 3: it looks so beautiful together.
[24:18] Speaker 1: Yes, texture is a good point because I've got I'm
[24:21] Speaker 1: quite monochromatic, so I wanted to do I tried it
[24:23] Speaker 1: with blue when I started with a bodysuit, and then
[24:25] Speaker 1: I put the skirt and I was like, all these
[24:26] Speaker 1: blue stot work. And then I put on a shoe
[24:28] Speaker 1: and I was like, this is not right. But I
[24:30] Speaker 1: have a lot of grays and burgundies and navies, so
[24:32] Speaker 1: I could.
[24:32] Speaker 2: Do it with it. Does it have to be a
[24:33] Speaker 2: bright color, No, honey.
[24:35] Speaker 1: Most people love a color or lean towards a color
[24:37] Speaker 1: palette more than others, So then you can just mix
[24:40] Speaker 1: all your new outfit. Absolutely turned in my life. That
[24:45] Speaker 1: was a lot of trend. Okay, this lovely lady says,
[24:47] Speaker 1: I live rural and we have about three shops near us. Yes,
[24:50] Speaker 1: one is came so everyone ends up wearing the same clothes.
[24:54] Speaker 1: I do most of my shopping online. Do you have
[24:56] Speaker 1: any tips for shopping online more successfully? So I don't
[24:59] Speaker 1: end up watering things that look great but are not
[25:01] Speaker 1: great when they arrive.
[25:03] Speaker 3: You have come to the right story of my life.
[25:06] Speaker 2: Okay.
[25:07] Speaker 3: Online shopping so obviously iconic is just got everything Like
[25:11] Speaker 3: one of my go tos.
[25:12] Speaker 2: You know, they're just the delivery is good, services, good love, love.
[25:15] Speaker 1: Can I ask you though it can be overwhelming? I
[25:17] Speaker 1: mean I love the iconic and I enjoy that overwhelmed,
[25:20] Speaker 1: but that and Athos can be like it's the world's
[25:23] Speaker 1: biggest department. Still, so do you I guess if you're
[25:26] Speaker 1: helping a client, do you go on and go right,
[25:27] Speaker 1: they need more bottoms, so then you'll go to bottoms
[25:30] Speaker 1: filter their size.
[25:31] Speaker 2: So go in, go use all the filters. Exactly what
[25:35] Speaker 2: you want is going to work for you.
[25:36] Speaker 3: Even break down like if you want cotton or if
[25:38] Speaker 3: you want a natural flyer bar. So making sure making
[25:40] Speaker 3: sure that you're getting exactly what you want and filtering.
[25:43] Speaker 2: There's a lot there. Yeah, there's so much.
[25:44] Speaker 1: And then sometimes I'm like, oh, maybe I'll just increase
[25:46] Speaker 1: my budget by fifty.
[25:47] Speaker 2: Dollars and see what's up. And then I'm like, oh,
[25:49] Speaker 2: I love that one. That's ten hundred million dollars.
[25:51] Speaker 1: But yeah, I think that's how you if you know
[25:53] Speaker 1: what you want, absolutely.
[25:54] Speaker 3: Filter, filter, filter, Uniclo online, I mean, alw it's just
[25:58] Speaker 3: great for all your basicsgreen.
[25:59] Speaker 1: Obviously it could be better though it's not that user friendly,
[26:02] Speaker 1: but true. I don't know, maybe that's just me, but
[26:05] Speaker 1: I think you know, you just see item. It's not
[26:07] Speaker 1: like I love the Zaro website, like I'm looking at
[26:09] Speaker 1: a magazine. But you know how someone's like hanging off
[26:11] Speaker 1: a balcony or a railing and they're showing you the necklace.
[26:14] Speaker 1: I love that, but I think unico you can just
[26:16] Speaker 1: see it. And oftentimes the items are unisex. I'll show
[26:19] Speaker 1: them on both genders if it is yeah.
[26:22] Speaker 2: Okay, who else? Well?
[26:24] Speaker 3: Next dot com which is a UK retailer, but they're men's,
[26:28] Speaker 3: they're women's, their kids, their home wears, and I love
[26:31] Speaker 3: because it's something different that most people don't have as well.
[26:34] Speaker 2: I think the pricing is really good. Next.
[26:36] Speaker 1: I discovered Next when my son son had because he's
[26:39] Speaker 1: got a really slim waist and Next dos a wonderful
[26:42] Speaker 1: like they're long enough for him. Yeah, but a slim waist.
[26:44] Speaker 1: And someone told me if he has gone Instagram to
[26:46] Speaker 1: looking Next and I was like, oh my gosh, I
[26:47] Speaker 1: forgot this story existed and I've seen it overseen really
[26:50] Speaker 1: huge collection of everything.
[26:52] Speaker 3: That's one of my go tos lately. MNG, which I
[26:55] Speaker 3: think is Mango which is Spanish Yes to Australia, and
[26:59] Speaker 3: again I just love because there's different things, so a
[27:02] Speaker 3: lot of people have love m G.
[27:03] Speaker 1: I shop on that website. I check the iconic first
[27:06] Speaker 1: because they stock a limited mount and then I shop
[27:08] Speaker 1: on MG it's so good and again opposite season. Yeah,
[27:13] Speaker 1: so oftentimes you know, we're just going into winter. They
[27:16] Speaker 1: just had their winter, say like the end of season,
[27:18] Speaker 1: you know, like you get something from the northern hemisphere.
[27:20] Speaker 3: Buying coats right now because our coats are full price.
[27:23] Speaker 3: If you jump onto the ice, saw some amazing coats,
[27:26] Speaker 3: they're heavily discounted and reduced.
[27:28] Speaker 2: So little bit there is shop overseas, yes, sites, and
[27:32] Speaker 2: you'll get some.
[27:33] Speaker 1: Another one that's good for that is naked and it's
[27:35] Speaker 1: spelt NK dash ad. I think it's right, So don't
[27:38] Speaker 1: just google naked because other.
[27:40] Speaker 2: To another side that you know exactly.
[27:43] Speaker 1: But they've got some really great stuff as well.
[27:45] Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, nice, And then I think what I'm excited
[27:47] Speaker 3: for online shopping. We're about to go into this crazy
[27:49] Speaker 3: new AI fitting room situation where Zara's testing a sous
[27:53] Speaker 3: is testing where you upload a photo of yourself and
[27:56] Speaker 3: then you click everything you love and you get to
[27:58] Speaker 3: see on your body.
[27:59] Speaker 1: And so you say it to your profile kind of thing.
[28:01] Speaker 1: I think, so like again, oh god, I keep showing
[28:04] Speaker 1: our age. But the clueless if anyone's of that circle
[28:07] Speaker 1: in clueless. Alicia's Silverstone kind of basically has a computer
[28:10] Speaker 1: and like a ginormous revolving wardrobe and then she just
[28:14] Speaker 1: like like a little paper doll.
[28:16] Speaker 2: Wow. I think it's exciting.
[28:18] Speaker 3: It's going to make online shopping easier again. The clothes
[28:21] Speaker 3: look on your body as opposed to this perfect, gorgeous
[28:24] Speaker 3: little model.
[28:25] Speaker 2: Yes, I'm excited and says things as is.
[28:27] Speaker 3: Before we know it, probably all retailers online that will
[28:30] Speaker 3: become the norm.
[28:30] Speaker 1: So that will really he actually clever. It sounds difficult
[28:33] Speaker 1: to do, but.
[28:34] Speaker 3: It's smart and I think using size charts online is
[28:36] Speaker 3: always key to like look at every item, look at
[28:38] Speaker 3: the measurements and measure yourself and check the construction. What
[28:42] Speaker 3: is it made of? You know, is it a poly real?
[28:45] Speaker 3: Is it stretched? Because I know there's a bit of
[28:47] Speaker 3: homework you've got to do, but it's.
[28:48] Speaker 1: Just kindly learned to do that. I do have my
[28:50] Speaker 1: measurements safe to my phone now to just.
[28:53] Speaker 3: Pay rather than having to then post it back and
[28:55] Speaker 3: order again. Just do the homework to begin with, you know,
[28:58] Speaker 3: get your measurements, check the construction of everything.
[29:00] Speaker 2: Yes, and the other thing I love.
[29:03] Speaker 3: Doing too is I checked the socials for that brand,
[29:05] Speaker 3: So if I'm about to buy something, I'll go to
[29:07] Speaker 3: their social page and they may have someone on there
[29:10] Speaker 3: similar to your body shape wearing it and you can go, oh, wow,
[29:12] Speaker 3: it looks great on her, look.
[29:13] Speaker 2: Great on me as well, or they may have tagged
[29:15] Speaker 2: themselves that's.
[29:16] Speaker 1: What I was going to say, or even I just
[29:18] Speaker 1: check on YouTube now to see if there's reviews. I mean,
[29:20] Speaker 1: some are paid, but that's okay. I can still see
[29:22] Speaker 1: the item moving.
[29:23] Speaker 2: So there's a few little tips of stopping. Last one.
[29:26] Speaker 1: So this lovely person says, sometimes I put on an
[29:29] Speaker 1: outfit that looks great in my head but not in
[29:31] Speaker 1: real life.
[29:31] Speaker 2: Lo, I can't figure out why.
[29:33] Speaker 1: So as a stylist, what are the little things that
[29:35] Speaker 1: can make our outfit feel wrong? And what are some
[29:38] Speaker 1: simple tweaks people can try to wear their current stuff.
[29:41] Speaker 1: I mean, that isn't that solving the fashion universe?
[29:43] Speaker 3: That is a good question. And that happened to me
[29:45] Speaker 3: on the way here. I got ready this morning. I
[29:47] Speaker 3: had this idea in my head. I looked in the
[29:48] Speaker 3: middle and I was like, do I look like Gumby Cat?
[29:52] Speaker 2: But that it works to you?
[29:54] Speaker 3: But you know, I think that can happen. And A
[29:56] Speaker 3: I got to say. The first thing is a we
[29:58] Speaker 3: are so hard on ourselves, is stop being hard on
[30:00] Speaker 3: yourself and realize what you see is not usually what
[30:03] Speaker 3: the world's se' so critical of our confidence?
[30:06] Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yeah, I mean, but then don't leave the
[30:08] Speaker 1: house if you don't feel confident. But if you love it,
[30:11] Speaker 1: don't worry what other people think.
[30:12] Speaker 3: But a few things, and this happens with clothes and
[30:14] Speaker 3: fitting rooms all the time, is stand back from the mirror.
[30:17] Speaker 3: Often you're looking at a mirror which is a meter
[30:19] Speaker 3: or two in front of you, and it gives you
[30:21] Speaker 3: a warped sense of what you look like. You're looking
[30:23] Speaker 3: more top heavy because you're looking at it from that level.
[30:25] Speaker 3: But if you stand back a couple of meters, you
[30:28] Speaker 3: have a better perception of how it actually looks.
[30:30] Speaker 1: No one has ever said that on this podcast, and.
[30:32] Speaker 2: It's so true.
[30:33] Speaker 3: So if you look at your bathroom mirror, you're literally
[30:35] Speaker 3: a meter from this mirror, and it's going to give
[30:37] Speaker 3: you the wrong perceptions and proportions. But if you stand
[30:40] Speaker 3: back a couple of meters, you get a better idea
[30:42] Speaker 3: how it looks. The other thing is lighting if you're
[30:44] Speaker 3: standing under downlighting.
[30:45] Speaker 1: That's why I don't try things in stores anymore unless
[30:48] Speaker 1: it's you know, final sale, and I can't return it
[30:49] Speaker 1: because the fluorescent lighting.
[30:51] Speaker 2: Yeah, and the perry sweats and I mean.
[30:53] Speaker 1: A little cubicle on people are waiting. I get so
[30:56] Speaker 1: upset the lighting is not good.
[30:58] Speaker 2: Yeah, So think about that again.
[30:59] Speaker 3: If you're in the fitting room and the downlinings are good,
[31:01] Speaker 3: step out and maybe find another mirror in the corridor sometimes.
[31:04] Speaker 2: And that's a huge game changer. Even your house.
[31:07] Speaker 3: Sometimes, if you've got one of those little flip mirrors
[31:09] Speaker 3: that can move around, just put it against your windows
[31:12] Speaker 3: so when you're facing the mirror, natural light is hitting you.
[31:14] Speaker 3: And that also gives you a better sense if it's
[31:16] Speaker 3: going to work.
[31:18] Speaker 1: Even for shopping.
[31:19] Speaker 2: I find that with colors.
[31:20] Speaker 1: I mean we often say it with makeup, but if
[31:22] Speaker 1: you're trying to match something or you know, feeling a
[31:24] Speaker 1: piece for an outfit, make sure if you've bought it,
[31:26] Speaker 1: then go out into the daylight because it can look
[31:28] Speaker 1: really different in a store.
[31:29] Speaker 2: That always shocks me.
[31:31] Speaker 3: And the other key thing is remember you are not
[31:33] Speaker 3: a perfect size mannequin. So when you're putting on clothes
[31:36] Speaker 3: unless you are manequin proportions, it's not going to fit
[31:39] Speaker 3: your right And this is where you need to think
[31:40] Speaker 3: about twigs. And if anyone sees my socials, I'm all
[31:42] Speaker 3: about sleeves. I'm always rolling a sleeve. Just a couple
[31:46] Speaker 3: of rolls up can totally change how it looks. Tucking
[31:49] Speaker 3: something a little bit can totally change how something looks.
[31:53] Speaker 3: Half these little things doing permanent alterations. Spending that extra
[31:58] Speaker 3: twenty dollars to maybe making a permanent alteration would change
[32:01] Speaker 3: how that garma looks and how you feel when you we.
[32:04] Speaker 1: And the costly where is actually going to exactly?
[32:07] Speaker 3: So I think, you know, when I'm shopping with clients,
[32:09] Speaker 3: it is very rare that we've put something on bang
[32:12] Speaker 3: on perfect.
[32:13] Speaker 1: That is such a relief to hear, I think because
[32:15] Speaker 1: we all want to just well, we're all busy and exhausted,
[32:17] Speaker 1: so we just want to throw it on and go.
[32:19] Speaker 1: But it's that it's less about the item, I think.
[32:21] Speaker 3: And why I think we never find anything because nothing
[32:24] Speaker 3: is ever going to be perfect, because we are not
[32:25] Speaker 3: perfect mannequins.
[32:26] Speaker 2: Yes, but as soon as you just look in the
[32:28] Speaker 2: mirror and go, little role, little roll little jewish. Yeah,
[32:31] Speaker 2: my god, it's amazing.
[32:31] Speaker 3: And I think that is why I love taking clients shopping, Yeah,
[32:35] Speaker 3: is because they have struggled to find things for so long,
[32:38] Speaker 3: go go home empty handed. Then we go shopping together.
[32:41] Speaker 3: They go home with bags and they're like, I can't
[32:43] Speaker 3: believe this. And it's just showing in those tiny little
[32:45] Speaker 3: twigs and it makes such a difference.
[32:48] Speaker 1: And we can't all have a Donnie, but we can
[32:49] Speaker 1: follow you on Instagram.
[32:50] Speaker 2: You can, and I'll teach you the twigs.
[32:52] Speaker 1: And coming up after the break, bougie and budget and
[32:54] Speaker 1: I think you've got something everyone's gonna want.
[32:57] Speaker 2: I think, so do It's very expensive? How wondred percent?
[33:14] Speaker 1: Okay, so you didn't just bring a bougie and budget.
[33:16] Speaker 1: You've got an array spectrum, A spectrum three.
[33:20] Speaker 2: In the same category.
[33:21] Speaker 1: So I need you to tell me all three in
[33:23] Speaker 1: order of should we go hide to low?
[33:27] Speaker 3: A lot of my clients, I say, Johnny, I'm seeing
[33:28] Speaker 3: this follow jackets, I'm thinking I want to invest in one.
[33:31] Speaker 2: What do I do? So here we go.
[33:33] Speaker 3: My splurge I found on Karen Miller's site, and it's
[33:37] Speaker 3: a brushed wool funnel neck and a beautiful camel color
[33:41] Speaker 3: and it looks soft and gorgeous. Now it's usually six
[33:45] Speaker 3: hundred and fourteen. She's expensive, but currently they've got.
[33:48] Speaker 2: It for three sixty seven. So because she's overseas. Yeah,
[33:52] Speaker 2: but they shipped to Australia.
[33:53] Speaker 1: Algorithms are the same.
[33:54] Speaker 2: I just got served her. It's a really good Suji
[33:58] Speaker 2: but gorgeous. Yes, a price. Next up, I found this
[34:02] Speaker 2: on the M and G site. I love a little
[34:04] Speaker 2: bit Mungo.
[34:05] Speaker 3: Another wool blend funnel neck for one hundred and thirty
[34:08] Speaker 3: nine dollars in the same sort of camel color, which
[34:11] Speaker 3: is amazing.
[34:12] Speaker 2: So that my credit card.
[34:15] Speaker 3: Yeah, but then if my clients has Donny, look, I've
[34:17] Speaker 3: got fifty bucks to spend.
[34:19] Speaker 2: Yeah, my got your baby. We're going to Target. Yeah,
[34:22] Speaker 2: because has a denim funnel neck for fifty bars.
[34:26] Speaker 1: I know, honestly, that's phenomenal. Like again, got served out
[34:28] Speaker 1: on my algorithm and I was like, well, what hang on,
[34:30] Speaker 1: what ad it? What BRANDITHM? I know they know each other.
[34:33] Speaker 1: I mean to look into one of the top two.
[34:35] Speaker 1: But actually I don't need another jacket or cod in
[34:37] Speaker 1: my life because let me tell you about mine. It's
[34:41] Speaker 1: my bougie. So here's what I prepared earlier, and look
[34:43] Speaker 1: I've got it on now.
[34:44] Speaker 2: I love it.
[34:45] Speaker 1: It's Daisy from the Iconic. It's one hundred and nineteen
[34:48] Speaker 1: ninety five. It's pretty new, right, it's like a really
[34:51] Speaker 1: dark it's a forest olive.
[34:53] Speaker 2: Would you say olive? I yeah, love with like it
[34:57] Speaker 2: could be a dark gray anyway.
[34:59] Speaker 1: Bomber jacket but also elasticated waste but not full sort
[35:03] Speaker 1: of varsity bomb market if you wear it undone, it's
[35:05] Speaker 1: not too it's a kind of barn jackety love.
[35:08] Speaker 2: The slouchy, kind of slouch leave as do you. I
[35:12] Speaker 2: love a role or.
[35:16] Speaker 1: Stud pockets very important to me. Zip so you can
[35:20] Speaker 1: be a kind of traditional bomber.
[35:23] Speaker 2: But then you zip it up the colera. You've got
[35:25] Speaker 2: your funnel funnel neck colera up funnel on and it's
[35:29] Speaker 2: very soft.
[35:29] Speaker 1: It doesn't have you upsized, that's the thing, right, So
[35:32] Speaker 1: it's slightly oversized.
[35:34] Speaker 2: I would have gone one or two.
[35:35] Speaker 1: Sizes up only because I mean, it's not a bomber
[35:38] Speaker 1: on the waist, but I would have liked it to
[35:40] Speaker 1: cover a bit more of my bum only because for
[35:42] Speaker 1: school drop off sometimes in my pajamas and because of
[35:45] Speaker 1: the elasticated waist, I sometimes wear these longer undone or
[35:48] Speaker 1: I will almost flip it up and make it. There's
[35:51] Speaker 1: also a tan and a black, and I think I
[35:53] Speaker 1: need all three. We're neighbors, We're too much.
[35:56] Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm coming out of a borrow that absolutely.
[35:59] Speaker 1: Lay add it to your agree And I just wanted
[36:01] Speaker 1: to quickly mention my budget, which is a scarf, and
[36:03] Speaker 1: it doesn't need to be this scarf. But I bought
[36:05] Speaker 1: one from Amazon last winter and it was exactly what
[36:09] Speaker 1: you said. It was a combination of all my favorite colors.
[36:11] Speaker 1: It was Burgundies, creams khaki, and it was kind of
[36:15] Speaker 1: this big, chunky acrylic knit. So it wasn't itchy because
[36:17] Speaker 1: it wasn't wool, and I swear to you I could
[36:20] Speaker 1: have been wearing a bikini. Well maybe not, but I
[36:23] Speaker 1: was wearing the worst outfits, so I just hadn't put
[36:25] Speaker 1: any thought into it. And then a big sort of
[36:27] Speaker 1: layer around my neck because people are looking at your eyes.
[36:30] Speaker 1: I got so many comments on that scarf. I don't
[36:33] Speaker 1: think it was the scarf in particular. It was just
[36:35] Speaker 1: something quite rich in color around my face, and honestly,
[36:39] Speaker 1: I think everyone thought this scarff.
[36:40] Speaker 2: Was so fancy.
[36:41] Speaker 1: It was about twenty dollars. We'll put a link in
[36:42] Speaker 1: the show notes. But it's a good point to dig
[36:45] Speaker 1: out what you've got go thrifting. It doesn't have to
[36:47] Speaker 1: be fancy. I lose a lot of things umbrellas and
[36:50] Speaker 1: scarves to me, or what bobby pins are to everyone.
[36:53] Speaker 1: It's just a collateral damage in winter. And so I
[36:55] Speaker 1: think it was about twenty bucks. Of course it's still
[36:57] Speaker 1: with me because of cheap one. Stay with you.
[36:59] Speaker 3: I just want to touch on your incredible points. And
[37:01] Speaker 3: you said, so that's a key thing. Accessories aren't only
[37:03] Speaker 3: an accessory to keep you warm. For example, accessories can
[37:06] Speaker 3: draw people eyes to where we want the focus to
[37:09] Speaker 3: be on an outfit. So for my clients who say
[37:11] Speaker 3: are self conscious about their lower half, the.
[37:12] Speaker 2: Men are like they're tummy or the hips.
[37:14] Speaker 3: When you put on say a statement scarf or a
[37:16] Speaker 3: fumal statement earing, the focus goes there and away from
[37:19] Speaker 3: your air of concern, so you're not worried about people
[37:22] Speaker 3: looking where you don't want them to look. So I
[37:24] Speaker 3: think that's a great point that you can buy a
[37:26] Speaker 3: ten doless scarf put it on, but it makes you
[37:28] Speaker 3: feel good.
[37:29] Speaker 2: Yeah, you're focusing on where we want the focus to be.
[37:31] Speaker 1: I think one morning I was just running so late
[37:33] Speaker 1: that I had still have my pajama top on to
[37:34] Speaker 1: take my son, and I just grabbed the scarf and
[37:36] Speaker 1: I'd never received so many compliments in and out of
[37:38] Speaker 1: the school gate, and I was like, well.
[37:39] Speaker 2: If only you knew what was under this. I think
[37:41] Speaker 2: it's cereal. They don't need to know.
[37:42] Speaker 1: But they don't need to know, So chuck something up
[37:44] Speaker 1: around your eyes and then no one is looking the restaurant. Oh, Donnie,
[37:48] Speaker 1: you make me so excited to go back and mix
[37:50] Speaker 1: and match my wardrobe and for the new season ahead.
[37:52] Speaker 2: So thank you for joining us, so having me.
