[0:40] Speaker 1: Guilty a body.
[0:44] Speaker 2: Hello, and welcome to you Beauty, the daily podcast for
[0:47] Speaker 2: Your Face.
[0:48] Speaker 3: I'm Lee Campbell, I'm Kelly mccaren and it is Yes.
[0:53] Speaker 2: What day is it? It's always Monday or Friday in
[0:58] Speaker 2: my head when we're together.
[0:59] Speaker 1: Yeah, but also just.
[1:01] Speaker 2: It is it's like, oh it's Monday, Yeah, it's Friday.
[1:04] Speaker 2: Do you get the Sunday scaries? No?
[1:05] Speaker 3: I Monday is probably one of my favorite days. What
[1:09] Speaker 3: I love my days? Tell me I don't anyway. That's
[1:12] Speaker 3: a really sad song and no one will know because
[1:14] Speaker 3: they're not as old as me. What do we do today? Okay,
[1:16] Speaker 3: So every Monday we answer your questions and we come
[1:19] Speaker 3: up with a row coostac. Last week it was about baking,
[1:23] Speaker 3: but not under the eyes.
[1:25] Speaker 2: No. Finally enough mine was above the eyes but not baking.
[1:27] Speaker 1: Oh.
[1:28] Speaker 3: Today we have two fantastic questions as ever, later on
[1:32] Speaker 3: in the episode, we have got a question that just
[1:35] Speaker 3: made lego no, and then the first question actually I
[1:37] Speaker 3: went off for Heaven's sake, So basically it's gonna be
[1:40] Speaker 3: real short app.
[1:41] Speaker 2: No, We've got some good advice.
[1:44] Speaker 1: I couldn't help, but wonder ask me anything?
[1:46] Speaker 2: You ask many questions, Caitlin Emailda, She said, Hi, ladies,
[1:52] Speaker 2: there seems to be lots of info on skincare products
[1:54] Speaker 2: that are not safe or not recommended for use during pregnancy.
[1:57] Speaker 2: But what about makeup? The ingredients done seem so obvious
[2:01] Speaker 2: or easy to interpret. Are there any brands that are
[2:03] Speaker 2: generally considered safe or to be avoided when shopping at Mecca?
[2:06] Speaker 2: So for a priceline or chemist ware house, particularly because
[2:09] Speaker 2: lots of products now incorporate skincare. Looking for a nice primer,
[2:13] Speaker 2: skin tint or light foundation setting, powder setting spray and
[2:17] Speaker 2: tubular masca that I won't be second guessing, but also
[2:20] Speaker 2: make me feel a bit well put together when leaving
[2:22] Speaker 2: the house each day. Set the scene. I'm twenty eight
[2:25] Speaker 2: years old and twenty three weeks pregnant, with no major
[2:27] Speaker 2: changes to my fair skin. My skin is generally clear,
[2:30] Speaker 2: a bit of texture, combo dry now heading into winter.
[2:33] Speaker 3: Sometimes I hate that everyone has an opinion and thinks
[2:38] Speaker 3: that they know everything.
[2:39] Speaker 2: Because you don't mean this about our lovely friend, No,
[2:42] Speaker 2: I mean this.
[2:42] Speaker 3: Why does she think this? Who on earth has told
[2:45] Speaker 3: her or made her think otherwise? Because there is not
[2:48] Speaker 3: one makeup product on the market that can't be used
[2:51] Speaker 3: when pregnant or breastfeeding correct, and any brand that's like, oh,
[2:54] Speaker 3: pregnancy safe makeup that just makes me want to veto
[2:57] Speaker 3: them completely because.
[2:58] Speaker 2: That is scam ungreen. It's just mark marketing exactly. So
[3:02] Speaker 2: what you'll find we're going to link in the show
[3:03] Speaker 2: notes to mother Safe, which is fantastic resource. They've got
[3:06] Speaker 2: PDFs on pretty much everything, and they've got a great
[3:08] Speaker 2: pdf that you can download or read about what you know.
[3:11] Speaker 3: You can can't use exactly, which is pretty much just
[3:15] Speaker 3: the only thing you cannot use beauty wise is prescription
[3:18] Speaker 3: retinoids and hydroqernone and then to be safe over the
[3:22] Speaker 3: counter retinal products.
[3:23] Speaker 2: Yeah, that's correct, which is vitamin A. So the reason
[3:26] Speaker 2: is that we say you can't use those is because
[3:28] Speaker 2: they've never been tested on pregnant women, because ethnically, you
[3:31] Speaker 2: can't test ingredients on pregnant women in case it does
[3:34] Speaker 2: go wrong. So it's not that we know they're not safe,
[3:36] Speaker 2: we just haven't been able to test. As a community,
[3:39] Speaker 2: I would avoid those in my skincare. If you're really worried,
[3:43] Speaker 2: I would use over the counter retinol. I wouldn't mind,
[3:46] Speaker 2: but it's up to you.
[3:48] Speaker 3: Yeah, the mother Safe does say that that's fine. It's
[3:50] Speaker 3: just more so do you yes.
[3:52] Speaker 2: And the Mother's Safe document is really good because it
[3:55] Speaker 2: goes into nail polish, spray tan's hair color, so it's
[3:57] Speaker 2: got the whole thing there for you. I questioned when
[4:00] Speaker 2: I was pregnant because I was loving the et Cosmetic
[4:02] Speaker 2: c Sea cream, which has vitamin A in it, and
[4:05] Speaker 2: I took it to my obstetrition she said, it's totally fine,
[4:07] Speaker 2: but it's of course it's a comfort level for where
[4:09] Speaker 2: you sit with what you're using. But honestly, makeup is
[4:13] Speaker 2: completely fine. It goes through rigorous testing. It's not being
[4:17] Speaker 2: absorbed by your skin like some skin carriers, and even
[4:20] Speaker 2: then you know you'd have to apply itam and a
[4:22] Speaker 2: all over your body blah blah blah, but err on
[4:24] Speaker 2: the side of caution so you are comfortable. I guess
[4:28] Speaker 2: I've got just some great recommendations that are pregnancy safe,
[4:30] Speaker 2: but they all are in terms of a base. You
[4:33] Speaker 2: know what I love, and I think that is just
[4:35] Speaker 2: good for this time, you know, pregnant or postpardon where
[4:38] Speaker 2: you just don't want to bother with a full face.
[4:40] Speaker 2: It's the Mecha Cosmetica in a good light face tint.
[4:43] Speaker 2: It's SBF thirty. It's forty five dollars and it's just
[4:45] Speaker 2: like that wash of I've had a bit of sleep,
[4:49] Speaker 2: a bit of glow. It is a bit of some protection,
[4:51] Speaker 2: but it's only SPF thirty and you're not going to
[4:53] Speaker 2: apply enough for it to be your full sun protection.
[4:55] Speaker 2: So make sure you're putting SBA fifty underneath. You want
[4:58] Speaker 2: a setting powder. This is an organic one, just in
[5:01] Speaker 2: case that makes you feel better. The Ineica organic mineral
[5:04] Speaker 2: setting powder is really great, Kelly, and I call them
[5:07] Speaker 2: like little trampolines. It's like a loose powder but it's
[5:09] Speaker 2: got a the bouncy Yeah, you just get your powder
[5:11] Speaker 2: brush and off you go. But I don't know if
[5:14] Speaker 2: i'd be bothered with that postpartum or pregnant.
[5:17] Speaker 3: I was pregnant in the middle of COVID and I
[5:19] Speaker 3: vomited most days for all the day.
[5:22] Speaker 1: So yeah, I wasn't bothering with much. No, I was.
[5:25] Speaker 2: My son is about eight months when we went in. Yeah,
[5:27] Speaker 2: I was feral. A beautiful setting spray is the Raw Cosmetics.
[5:31] Speaker 2: So remember how I love the Rawdy.
[5:34] Speaker 1: Yes, you got me.
[5:35] Speaker 2: It's like an under a pencil. They've got the watermelon
[5:37] Speaker 2: fresh setting spray, which is really fantastic, and then you
[5:41] Speaker 2: want a tubular. My favorite in the world ever has
[5:45] Speaker 2: taken over lounge Face Slash, which I still love, is
[5:48] Speaker 2: the two faced ribbon wrapped lush extreme lengthening mascara.
[5:52] Speaker 1: You know I've tried that. It's the best. I didn't
[5:55] Speaker 1: love it.
[5:55] Speaker 2: What is wrong with you?
[5:56] Speaker 1: I know?
[5:56] Speaker 2: I think I need to give it a few more
[5:58] Speaker 2: goes to me, you know someone It starts very juicy,
[6:01] Speaker 2: so maybe you know how some of them are.
[6:03] Speaker 3: Okay, so I need to give it because you were
[6:05] Speaker 3: talking about it as your spending a few weeks ago
[6:07] Speaker 3: and then are like when and God and tried it?
[6:10] Speaker 2: So she bought it, which we were talking about the
[6:11] Speaker 2: other way. Yeah, I should love it, Kelly, I need
[6:14] Speaker 2: to try to get Okay, long story short, everything is safe,
[6:18] Speaker 2: but if you worry, take them to your obstetrician or
[6:21] Speaker 2: your GP or your what's that person called that helps
[6:24] Speaker 2: you have a baby midwife.
[6:25] Speaker 3: Yeah, and see what they say, which is going to
[6:28] Speaker 3: be it's fine.
[6:29] Speaker 2: Yeah, it's fine.
[6:30] Speaker 1: Okay.
[6:31] Speaker 2: Coming up after the break, decanting Sun's green yay or nay?
[6:39] Speaker 2: Hannah sent us a DM on Instagram. Why should we
[6:42] Speaker 2: not decant suns green into other containers? I was hoping
[6:45] Speaker 2: to decant some into a smaller travel sized bottle to
[6:47] Speaker 2: take with me to Barley to save space. Is it
[6:50] Speaker 2: okay to decant suns green into an opaque, dark colored bottle?
[6:54] Speaker 2: Thank you? I saw this question. I was, Oh, no,
[6:58] Speaker 2: she's just written this in to troll Lee. Well, we
[7:02] Speaker 2: know I love decanting, so if you know that is true,
[7:05] Speaker 2: but we also know that you will passionate, passionate like
[7:09] Speaker 2: a little decanting queen. I love putting things in little
[7:11] Speaker 2: smaller tubs and tubes and stuff. So that means just
[7:14] Speaker 2: basically taking stuff out of their original packaging and putting
[7:17] Speaker 2: it in a smaller bottle or tin or whatever. But
[7:20] Speaker 2: sunscreen in Australia is classed as a drug and therefore
[7:24] Speaker 2: goes through more rigorous testing, very expensive testing, yes, through
[7:28] Speaker 2: the TGA Therapeutic Goods administration within the packaging. I mean,
[7:32] Speaker 2: I have a beauty brand and we're not GGA, but
[7:34] Speaker 2: we still put we don't, but the chemist and the
[7:38] Speaker 2: people that manufacture it put it in the container. Then
[7:42] Speaker 2: they do what's called stability testing. So it goes in
[7:44] Speaker 2: an oven, not an oven, but like really hot for
[7:46] Speaker 2: really cold a couple of months, then really cold for
[7:47] Speaker 2: a couple of you know, and then shake it and
[7:49] Speaker 2: do all sorts of things to make sure that the
[7:51] Speaker 2: ingredients in the formula and whatever the packaging is made
[7:54] Speaker 2: for is compatible. And because sunscreen is quite active in
[7:57] Speaker 2: that it's got a lot of filters in there to
[7:59] Speaker 2: protect your skin, it has to be compliant with what
[8:03] Speaker 2: it's housed in. So it's gone through rigorous stability testing.
[8:06] Speaker 2: If you then take it and put in another plastic
[8:08] Speaker 2: thing or whatever I dare say, it probably isn't combatible.
[8:12] Speaker 2: What you could maybe do I still wouldn't is a
[8:16] Speaker 2: dark dark, dark brown glass bottle, but then that's going
[8:19] Speaker 2: to be heavier. Also, if you're going to Balley, let's
[8:21] Speaker 2: say for a week, you will need a full sized
[8:23] Speaker 2: body sunscreen.
[8:24] Speaker 3: And it's so expensive. So unless you're like buying their
[8:27] Speaker 3: buying there. When I say it's so expensive, it's just
[8:30] Speaker 3: a lot more expensive than Australia. Yeah, so unless you're
[8:33] Speaker 3: only taking carry on, I would just take a huge
[8:36] Speaker 3: thing of sunscreen.
[8:37] Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, just take you know, you don't have
[8:38] Speaker 2: to take one of those pump packs that you see
[8:40] Speaker 2: the Life Surf Saving Club. But if you are going
[8:43] Speaker 2: to Barley for a week and it's sunny weather, you
[8:45] Speaker 2: will need a full size sunscreen and for your face sunscreen.
[8:48] Speaker 2: I mean some do come in minis, but even then
[8:52] Speaker 2: that's probably only five applications, So you were going to
[8:55] Speaker 2: need all of your sunscreen. There's no point decanting. Do
[8:58] Speaker 2: you agree?
[8:59] Speaker 3: I completely agree when I did go to Barley at
[9:02] Speaker 3: the start of the year, though, I think you can
[9:04] Speaker 3: do it, but not as your primary sunscreen.
[9:06] Speaker 2: No, no, no, if it's like your makeup on top
[9:08] Speaker 2: or something.
[9:09] Speaker 3: So what I did it was because I knew that
[9:10] Speaker 3: there would be a couple of days and I was
[9:12] Speaker 3: only going to you did carry on. I did carry on,
[9:15] Speaker 3: but one of my girlfriends was bringing over some extra
[9:18] Speaker 3: SBF for me because I only had the travel sizes.
[9:20] Speaker 3: But what I did for day Club Vibe, I made
[9:23] Speaker 3: up my own little concoction.
[9:25] Speaker 2: Oh god, not a sunscreen.
[9:27] Speaker 3: Well, I put sunscreen in it, but then it was
[9:28] Speaker 3: never going to be my primary sunscreen, if that makes sense.
[9:31] Speaker 3: So it was a spray bottle and I put in
[9:34] Speaker 3: like a beautiful oil, some shimmer. I don't even remember
[9:40] Speaker 3: what I put in it. I did put a bit
[9:41] Speaker 3: of SBF and it. I was like, why not a
[9:43] Speaker 3: little bit of extra?
[9:43] Speaker 1: Why not?
[9:45] Speaker 3: And then can I just say I actually forgot about
[9:47] Speaker 3: this until this moment. It was that good that then
[9:50] Speaker 3: another girlfriend was flying over to do a shoot. It
[9:53] Speaker 3: was their highest selling shoot, like the Return of Investment.
[9:56] Speaker 2: To date, because their skin was so juicy they used this.
[9:59] Speaker 3: She was like, oh my god, I said, use this
[10:01] Speaker 3: on the models like limbs and everything. But when not
[10:04] Speaker 3: endorsing that as our sun Oh no, that wasn't my sunscreen.
[10:07] Speaker 3: I'm just saying that I'm a really good scientist myself.
[10:10] Speaker 2: No, but you'll like go to the supermarket and you
[10:12] Speaker 2: get your cancer council for you know, two hundred meals,
[10:14] Speaker 2: three hundred meals, whatever those body ones are. You will
[10:17] Speaker 2: go through that absolutely exactly. Oh up, next our host
[10:21] Speaker 2: hacks and we've got your slipped back head doude lips.
[10:24] Speaker 3: What a new makeup hacks?
[10:33] Speaker 2: All right, kel, tell me about your nude lip?
[10:36] Speaker 1: Smart nude lip.
[10:38] Speaker 2: I can't actually do a nude lip, or what I
[10:40] Speaker 2: want to know is when I say nude, I mean
[10:41] Speaker 2: rosy brickypink like my lip.
[10:43] Speaker 1: Yeah, what do you mean you can't do it?
[10:45] Speaker 2: Well, I've got a friend who does a nude lip,
[10:47] Speaker 2: but she does a nude lip like it. It's not foundation,
[10:49] Speaker 2: but it's foundation colored like a skin.
[10:51] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[10:52] Speaker 1: I don't like that. So some people it looks fine,
[10:54] Speaker 1: but on me, I look like I.
[10:56] Speaker 2: It looks like I've put my foundation on my lips.
[10:59] Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, I just I look.
[11:00] Speaker 1: A bit dead.
[11:01] Speaker 2: Okay, what's your tip?
[11:02] Speaker 3: So with a nude lip, this isn't really about finding
[11:05] Speaker 3: the perfect color or anything. It's just about lining mainly.
[11:07] Speaker 3: So when you're lining your lip, don't don't line the
[11:10] Speaker 3: entire lip with a nude So what you want to
[11:12] Speaker 3: do think about your lip real estate in quarters? Okay,
[11:15] Speaker 3: so the bottom lip in quarter, sorry, the top lip
[11:17] Speaker 3: in thirds is hard. You only want to start the
[11:20] Speaker 3: lip liner on your bottom about a quarter of the
[11:23] Speaker 3: way in and then finish a quarter of from the
[11:26] Speaker 3: other side, if that makes sense.
[11:27] Speaker 2: Okay, So like the half in the middle, the half.
[11:29] Speaker 3: In the middle, you want to like smudge it along
[11:32] Speaker 3: the bottom and then then top the middle third you
[11:35] Speaker 3: want to smudge.
[11:35] Speaker 2: Okay, So like the qufin's vot and a little bit
[11:38] Speaker 2: outside And why aren't we doing these other bits?
[11:40] Speaker 1: Because it looks silly?
[11:41] Speaker 2: Does it look overlined?
[11:42] Speaker 3: It looks overlined, It looks unnatural, and it looks clown
[11:46] Speaker 3: like I think. And that's where a lot of people
[11:48] Speaker 3: are going wrong when they're doing a new lip, because
[11:51] Speaker 3: then it just looks too structured as well.
[11:53] Speaker 2: Yeah, because you're going for that these are my lips.
[11:55] Speaker 2: And what if you're doing a red though, please.
[11:57] Speaker 3: Well that's where I was going to say, So that
[12:00] Speaker 3: is my only exception when you're doing like a really
[12:02] Speaker 3: cris statement statement, not like I lived in hot lip,
[12:06] Speaker 3: it's a statement.
[12:08] Speaker 1: I'm a boss bitch crisp red.
[12:10] Speaker 3: But even then I was thinking about it, I actually
[12:12] Speaker 3: still probably wouldn't completely line, because sometimes line of feathers.
[12:16] Speaker 2: A little bit, even the good ones.
[12:18] Speaker 3: What I do is I get like an angled brush
[12:22] Speaker 3: for precision on that outer portion because.
[12:25] Speaker 1: Stick from the bullet.
[12:26] Speaker 2: Yes, exactly, this is so interesting. I must go and
[12:29] Speaker 2: do this with my lip line.
[12:31] Speaker 1: I just go.
[12:32] Speaker 3: Yeah, so I just with a nude They'll never take
[12:35] Speaker 3: it out to the corners.
[12:35] Speaker 1: Okay, it's clowny.
[12:37] Speaker 3: I need to just white mom stick off please, so
[12:40] Speaker 3: lazy with her newde lip that she got them tattooed.
[12:42] Speaker 2: It's true, mine are tatooed on. Mine is the best
[12:46] Speaker 2: best way to get a slip back, pony, don't wash
[12:48] Speaker 2: your hair or a slip back button or even just
[12:50] Speaker 2: like that slip back just got out of the water vibes.
[12:53] Speaker 2: Oh like the wet hair. Look, yes, have you ever
[12:55] Speaker 2: done this?
[12:56] Speaker 1: I don't know. Doesn't say what you've done lube. Oh no,
[13:00] Speaker 1: it is the best.
[13:01] Speaker 2: Can I tell you? I like this at Cosmo when
[13:03] Speaker 2: I was on a shoot, and I forgot to tell everyone.
[13:05] Speaker 2: Maybe I have. But recently, Momamia, we got sent a
[13:08] Speaker 2: humongous box of loob and everyone was like, wow, loube
[13:11] Speaker 2: for everyone. I was like, yes, I love lobe and
[13:12] Speaker 2: everything like lub is back in fashion. Well, everyone was like, alright, Lee,
[13:16] Speaker 2: we don't really need to know how much you love
[13:17] Speaker 2: your lube. And I was like, no, no, it's for
[13:19] Speaker 2: my hair so honestly, because it doesn't set like hair
[13:23] Speaker 2: gel dry.
[13:23] Speaker 1: Really no.
[13:25] Speaker 2: Well, it depends on the type of Loube you get,
[13:26] Speaker 2: but most ky og loop yeah great, perfect, okay, Because
[13:30] Speaker 2: it's silicon based, it just stays kind of juicy. It'll
