[0:13] Speaker 2: Mamma Mia acknowledges the traditional owners of land and waters
[0:17] Speaker 2: that this podcast is recorded on Hello friends, it's Lee here,
[0:21] Speaker 2: and I know over on the show you're used to
[0:23] Speaker 2: me talking about clothes and what to buy and what
[0:26] Speaker 2: not to buy. But I've got an episode for you
[0:29] Speaker 2: of you Beauty, and it's not just me, it's Kelly
[0:31] Speaker 2: also offering some excellent advice. We answer two questions that
[0:34] Speaker 2: we get asked all the time, so hopefully you find
[0:37] Speaker 2: it helpful.
[0:38] Speaker 3: Enjoy makeup is my therapy.
[0:42] Speaker 2: I'm obsessed and I don't even feel guilty about it. Hello,
[0:48] Speaker 2: and welcome to You Beauty, the daily podcast for Your Face.
[0:51] Speaker 1: My name is Lee.
[0:53] Speaker 3: Campbell, I'm Kelly mccaren and Lee and I are both
[0:55] Speaker 3: sitting here with a blue shirt on.
[0:57] Speaker 2: Here's this blue and white stripe and mine is a
[1:00] Speaker 2: baby blue and this is called an Oxford shirt.
[1:02] Speaker 3: Dow. Do you know that both of them could have
[1:03] Speaker 3: used denying?
[1:04] Speaker 2: I steamed mine this morningurday. I had annoying crinkly fabric.
[1:07] Speaker 2: That's like then you can't sit down anyway. Hey, this
[1:10] Speaker 2: is not nothing to where it's your beauty.
[1:11] Speaker 1: What do we do.
[1:12] Speaker 3: Every day we do something different, but on Mondays we
[1:14] Speaker 3: answer your questions, and you know what, we are kicking
[1:18] Speaker 3: things off today with one of our favorite types of
[1:21] Speaker 3: Emergant's answer. It is a pervy one. I couldn't help,
[1:25] Speaker 3: but wonder asked me anything.
[1:27] Speaker 1: You ask many questions. It's so good. So a lovely
[1:31] Speaker 1: lady Rocky has DM.
[1:33] Speaker 2: I know Dragon's like Rochelle or like rock Sanne Rocks.
[1:38] Speaker 1: Maybe her name's just Rocky. This is so good.
[1:40] Speaker 2: And when I thought about it, I thought I didn't
[1:43] Speaker 2: have an answer.
[1:43] Speaker 1: Now I've put a million.
[1:44] Speaker 2: So the question is, if you were both ladies of
[1:46] Speaker 2: leisure with ample disposable income, what would your beauty treatment
[1:50] Speaker 2: schedule look like? Hair, face, body, all of it. I
[1:53] Speaker 2: play this game with my friends sometimes it is so
[1:55] Speaker 2: fun to dream. Omg okay, you.
[1:59] Speaker 3: Can kick okay.
[2:00] Speaker 2: Well, at first I was like, well, we're kind of
[2:01] Speaker 2: in the industry, like we do get a lot of
[2:02] Speaker 2: things for free if we want, you know whatever.
[2:04] Speaker 1: And then I was like, I don't really want anything.
[2:05] Speaker 2: And then when I started thinking, boy, oh boy, I
[2:09] Speaker 2: need to become this version of Lee, which is win
[2:11] Speaker 2: fifty million dollars and obviously just quit all my jobs
[2:14] Speaker 2: because this is my full time job. Now, okay, I
[2:16] Speaker 2: want someone to come to my house to style my
[2:18] Speaker 2: hair every second day.
[2:20] Speaker 1: They don't have to wash it.
[2:21] Speaker 2: I don't like getting my hair washed at the basin,
[2:23] Speaker 2: but I just want them to style a cool girl wave.
[2:26] Speaker 3: What is the point of that, Ye're not washing your hair?
[2:28] Speaker 2: Wait, okay, so Adam Wintour has someone to come and
[2:32] Speaker 2: fix her bob and trim her fringe every morning at home.
[2:35] Speaker 2: I only want every second day. Then I want my
[2:37] Speaker 2: brow threader to come to my house. Basically everyone has
[2:39] Speaker 2: to come to me because I hate going places, and
[2:42] Speaker 2: just when I need it, because sometimes my brows grow
[2:45] Speaker 2: fast and then slow, and then I just want to
[2:47] Speaker 2: be like, come now.
[2:48] Speaker 1: I'll turned into raw, bossy bitch too.
[2:51] Speaker 2: I want a full at home LED body like their
[2:54] Speaker 2: Selarium type look vibe, but it's full LED with a
[2:58] Speaker 2: salon quality LED for face machine. Then I want a
[3:03] Speaker 2: fortnightly lymphatic drainage body massage, the really firm one where
[3:08] Speaker 2: they get in there and you just like what hurt me.
[3:11] Speaker 2: I want someone to come over or maybe because I'm
[3:13] Speaker 2: so rich, they live somewhere in my house. They just
[3:15] Speaker 2: come and give me a fifteen minute neck massage before
[3:18] Speaker 2: I get into bed.
[3:18] Speaker 3: Every night.
[3:20] Speaker 2: I want to go to a head spa once a
[3:21] Speaker 2: month because I do love like you know that Tokyo
[3:24] Speaker 2: head Spa. Yes birthday back in March, three separate friends
[3:28] Speaker 2: bought me a voucher for their.
[3:29] Speaker 3: Can I have one?
[3:30] Speaker 2: No, no, no, no, I want them, but my point
[3:33] Speaker 2: is getting your hair washed at the basin at the
[3:35] Speaker 2: headdress and that little massage is like a tease, like
[3:38] Speaker 2: I want an hour ninety yea. So these they do
[3:41] Speaker 2: like a treatment like a scalp and neck massage and
[3:45] Speaker 2: hair things. So I'm having that once a month. Then
[3:48] Speaker 2: I want probably every three weeks a one hour very
[3:51] Speaker 2: firm facial massage, but my money and petty at the
[3:55] Speaker 2: same time, because I hate going for money and petty,
[3:58] Speaker 2: I would get CO two laser, which is hectic laser.
[4:02] Speaker 2: So I haven't done it properly yet because of the
[4:04] Speaker 2: cost and the downtime in my real life because we're
[4:06] Speaker 2: always filmed and like it's thousands of dollars. But if
[4:08] Speaker 2: I can just hang out home and drink wine while
[4:11] Speaker 2: I'm healing, great. If I'm going somewhere fancy, I want
[4:14] Speaker 2: glam to come to my house. But I want to
[4:16] Speaker 2: lie down and sleep like Kim Kardashian does. I hate
[4:19] Speaker 2: sitting in the chair. I'm not good enough sleeper. Well,
[4:21] Speaker 2: I just want to be raped. In this life, you
[4:23] Speaker 2: are and last, but not least. I mean, all of
[4:25] Speaker 2: this is completely unrealistic. I want one of those machines
[4:29] Speaker 2: that was in the Jetsons, which was a cartoon. We
[4:31] Speaker 2: were a little and they used to just walk through
[4:33] Speaker 2: a machine in their hair and makeup and outfit was
[4:34] Speaker 2: done in one second. That doesn't exist, But maybe I'm
[4:37] Speaker 2: rich enough to invent one.
[4:38] Speaker 3: Yeah that's not much, No, not much at all.
[4:42] Speaker 1: What's yours?
[4:43] Speaker 3: Okay? So I am the lady of leisure. I think
[4:46] Speaker 3: I'd been an excellent lady of leisure because I'm very
[4:48] Speaker 3: good at doing nothing. Oh so every morning I have
[4:52] Speaker 3: a very nice personal trainer.
[4:54] Speaker 1: No that's not beauty, but okay, yeah me too.
[4:56] Speaker 3: Yeah it is. It's like wellness, all right, yeah, wellness lifestyle. Okay,
[5:01] Speaker 3: So she meets me at a local park. I have
[5:04] Speaker 3: to walk like two minutes in this life.
[5:05] Speaker 1: Why can't she come to your backyard?
[5:07] Speaker 3: Actually she can, because in this dream, man, I've got
[5:10] Speaker 3: a big house with a pool and such. Yeah, eight
[5:12] Speaker 3: thirty am. So I wake up at like eight fifteen.
[5:14] Speaker 1: Okay, nice.
[5:16] Speaker 3: Every night before bed, I have a one hour massage
[5:20] Speaker 3: and messuse will come to the house. Lenny magically doesn't
[5:23] Speaker 3: need any assistance getting to bed, and I just have
[5:27] Speaker 3: her robbing me at least fifteen if that is a
[5:31] Speaker 3: head massage by.
[5:31] Speaker 1: Itself, and foot too. Focus on my feet.
[5:34] Speaker 3: Yep, and then half an hour on my back and everything.
[5:36] Speaker 2: What are you doing while she's doing that? Are you
[5:38] Speaker 2: listening to a podcast? Because I just find it so boring.
[5:40] Speaker 3: Well, because I'm a lady of leisure, I have a
[5:43] Speaker 3: lot more time to be zen. Oh okay, yeah, so
[5:44] Speaker 3: maybe I am meditating.
[5:46] Speaker 1: Oh wow.
[5:46] Speaker 3: When I'm in Bali, I can do nothing. Well, I
[5:48] Speaker 3: have a massage every day, so the me I imagine
[5:51] Speaker 3: that this me can just do nothing. Oh great, I'm
[5:54] Speaker 3: going to go to you know, like the slow house like.
[5:56] Speaker 2: That sort of it's it called a bath house, but
[5:59] Speaker 2: like a wellness Ye, you've got everything.
[6:00] Speaker 3: So I go to one of those a couple of
[6:02] Speaker 3: times a week and do all of the magnesium pools.
[6:06] Speaker 1: And the whole and the.
[6:08] Speaker 3: Saunas and the spas and whatnot. On Monday mornings, I
[6:12] Speaker 3: get my hair washed and blow waved for the week.
[6:15] Speaker 3: On Thursdays, I get my hair washed and blow waved
[6:18] Speaker 3: to the weekend, and I get a tan yes that
[6:20] Speaker 3: I don't have to marinate in. I just magically am
[6:24] Speaker 3: a bronzed goddess for the weekend, because.
[6:25] Speaker 1: You don't want to have to wash it off and
[6:26] Speaker 1: then you roar on your hair exactly.
[6:28] Speaker 3: I have an led body bed as well, and I
[6:31] Speaker 3: also get laser all over my body in winter. So
[6:35] Speaker 3: the lasers that people get on their face, I can
[6:37] Speaker 3: afford to get that all over my body. And I
[6:39] Speaker 3: have the skin of a porcelain doll.
[6:41] Speaker 1: Ouch.
[6:42] Speaker 3: Yeah, but like it doesn't matter because I'm rich. I
[6:43] Speaker 3: can afford to good painkillers. I'm going to get my
[6:47] Speaker 3: monthly needling, but weekly facials, and I'm going to get
[6:52] Speaker 3: six month injectibles. But like really, you know, light touches
[6:56] Speaker 3: because I'm going to the best, the best, and then
[6:59] Speaker 3: Yeli nips and tucks because I'm rich and fabulous, Like
[7:01] Speaker 3: who knows what? I'm going to get whatever I need
[7:03] Speaker 3: that year. I forgot about my hair color.
[7:05] Speaker 2: The person that comes and does my hair just does
[7:07] Speaker 2: my roots whenever they notice.
[7:09] Speaker 3: Ye, yes, yes, that's something that I do in my
[7:11] Speaker 3: regular life.
[7:12] Speaker 2: For so I'm like, eh, yeah, that's true, but I
[7:13] Speaker 2: still find it annoying to fit in and stuff like
[7:16] Speaker 2: I want I'm a lady of leisure, but I've got
[7:18] Speaker 2: things to do, like I'm running a charity and stuff
[7:21] Speaker 2: things to still be efficient.
[7:22] Speaker 3: I don't have anything to do but always flawless. I'm
[7:25] Speaker 3: a lady of leisure that just is beautiful is doneing?
[7:29] Speaker 2: Oh my god, I love it. That was the best game.
[7:31] Speaker 2: I play that game, like what would I do if
[7:33] Speaker 2: I win the lotto? And then when I've stopped daydreaming,
[7:34] Speaker 2: I get so sad because it's not real. Okay, coming
[7:37] Speaker 2: up after the break something much more realistic but helpful
[7:41] Speaker 2: hunt dream A question about switching up your products between
[7:45] Speaker 2: season and how and why we do that?
[7:53] Speaker 3: So Joanna has asked killing Lee please help with something
[7:56] Speaker 3: that has always confused me. I know we're supposed to
[7:59] Speaker 3: switch products in winter and summer for the different seasons,
[8:01] Speaker 3: but why do you switch your products? And if you do,
[8:04] Speaker 3: which ones do you change?
[8:06] Speaker 2: Excellent question, Joanna, I mean you don't do It's not
[8:10] Speaker 2: a rule, and it depends on a lot of things,
[8:12] Speaker 2: like where you live, the temperature, the humidity, your lifestyle.
[8:16] Speaker 2: If you're inside a lot in winter and you know
[8:18] Speaker 2: there's a fire or heating, you know all of that stuff. Generally,
[8:22] Speaker 2: summer is hotter and more humid, and so you might
[8:25] Speaker 2: want more lightweight products. You might want, you know, a
[8:28] Speaker 2: foundation that's not as dewy or whatever it is. Also,
[8:30] Speaker 2: Kelly and I are very different. She's dry skin. I'm
[8:32] Speaker 2: oily skin.
[8:33] Speaker 3: You love winter because you get to play more with
[8:35] Speaker 3: skin care.
[8:36] Speaker 2: I can do more layers in winter, but then my
[8:38] Speaker 2: body's dry and gross, and I still do bodycare, but
[8:41] Speaker 2: like it's annoying, but also you just wear jeans, food cares.
[8:44] Speaker 2: So what do I switch up? I definitely use I
[8:47] Speaker 2: guess a bit more skincare in that I can do
[8:50] Speaker 2: another layer of serum or something in winter, whereas my
[8:53] Speaker 2: skin can really only take serum, a lightweight moisturizer and
[8:56] Speaker 2: sunscreen in the mornings in summer.
[8:58] Speaker 1: I never switch my hair care because of the seasons.
[9:00] Speaker 1: I don't think.
[9:02] Speaker 3: Probably do more masks in winter, or actually maybe more
[9:05] Speaker 3: in summer.
[9:05] Speaker 2: I actually need to care for my hair more in
[9:07] Speaker 2: summer because of the swimming and all that sort of stuff.
[9:10] Speaker 1: I probably should.
[9:11] Speaker 2: I mean, this is a lot of should exfoliate my
[9:13] Speaker 2: body more and then do more juicy hydration because if
[9:16] Speaker 2: you are wearing you know, pants or stockings and inside
[9:19] Speaker 2: heating or fire or aircorn, you kind of got a
[9:22] Speaker 2: lot of dead skin to stick into your legs.
[9:24] Speaker 1: And I barely even shave my legs in the winter,
[9:26] Speaker 1: but very hairy right now.
[9:28] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[9:28] Speaker 2: I used to switch up my cleanses because I used
[9:30] Speaker 2: to use it, you know, more hardcore cleanser in summer,
[9:33] Speaker 2: but now with my age and just my skin liking it,
[9:36] Speaker 2: I always just use you know, I double cleans with
[9:38] Speaker 2: like a balm and then use my cellar water or
[9:40] Speaker 2: a milky cleanser anyway, so.
[9:42] Speaker 1: I don't need to change from summer to winter. So no,
[9:44] Speaker 1: I don't really.
[9:45] Speaker 2: I probably just maybe use a bit more dewy skin
[9:48] Speaker 2: care and makeup in winter when it's not as humid
[9:52] Speaker 2: and fitzy.
[9:53] Speaker 1: If you've nailed it, you don't have to. Like, it's
[9:55] Speaker 1: not a rule.
[9:57] Speaker 2: And maybe if I, you know, I'm gradual tanning in summer,
[10:00] Speaker 2: I might have a different foundation shade. But I don't
[10:03] Speaker 2: really go out and always get two versions of my
[10:05] Speaker 2: favorite foundations. I might just use a bronzing drop or
[10:08] Speaker 2: warm it up with more bronzer. So I just maybe
[10:10] Speaker 2: a little tweaks, not whole new products.
[10:12] Speaker 3: What about you, Well, I think as I'm a dry,
[10:15] Speaker 3: dehydrated girly, I don't change that much. But I do
[10:18] Speaker 3: notice that my skin definitely has more increased moisture needs
[10:24] Speaker 3: in in winter because the cold air outside and then
[10:28] Speaker 3: the dry indoor heating, and when you're like swapping between
[10:31] Speaker 3: the two, it can really strip your skin. So that's
[10:33] Speaker 3: why I need thicker balms and creams and serums to help.
[10:37] Speaker 1: And slugging lock everything in.
[10:40] Speaker 3: I need a lot more barrier protection because the harsh
[10:44] Speaker 3: sort of climate can weaken your skin and make it
[10:46] Speaker 3: just flaky and yuck. So I probably slug a lot
[10:49] Speaker 3: more than usual, and and I've got a recommendation in
[10:52] Speaker 3: my host tag I actually sometimes have to slug a
[10:55] Speaker 3: little bit even in the day. I definitely need a
[10:58] Speaker 3: lot more lip care in winter.
[10:59] Speaker 1: That's such a good one.
[11:01] Speaker 3: So whereas in summer I kind of just apply a
[11:03] Speaker 3: lip bum before bed, that's it, and then I'll just
[11:05] Speaker 3: apply something during the day.
[11:07] Speaker 1: But I'll be wearing a lip in.
[11:08] Speaker 3: The winter, my lips. If I crack the side of one,
[11:12] Speaker 3: it's done for the winter, and it's so painful, so
[11:15] Speaker 3: I need to be really careful. Good point, and that's
[11:17] Speaker 3: pretty much it. I think I probably just use a
[11:19] Speaker 3: lot more thicker formulas.
[11:21] Speaker 2: Yeah, and layering, and you know generally, I mean, you
[11:24] Speaker 2: can get a cold in summer, but if you get
[11:25] Speaker 2: sick in winter and then you're your nose, your nose,
[11:28] Speaker 2: your nose, your needs your root off the red fleeting,
[11:31] Speaker 2: my goodness, dear nappy rush cream yeap, that is yeah.
[11:35] Speaker 1: Or you're sicker, plass like anything.
[11:37] Speaker 2: That's kind of really restorative and just like you've blown
[11:39] Speaker 2: your nose, put it on. You're gonna blow your nose
[11:41] Speaker 2: again in five minutes, but then just keep putting it
[11:42] Speaker 2: on because it gets red raw. I probably mostly notice
[11:45] Speaker 2: this if I travel from summer to a winter climate,
[11:48] Speaker 2: because it's such an you know, immediate change. You've been
[11:51] Speaker 2: on a plane and then your skin's like, ah, I'm
[11:53] Speaker 2: so dry, but you're usually you know, living where you live.
[11:55] Speaker 2: It happens gradually either way, so you can just make
[11:58] Speaker 2: little tweets. Face mist always helps if you just need
[12:01] Speaker 2: a bit of an extra hydration if you're.
[12:02] Speaker 1: A bit drier. I can use more stuff like that
[12:05] Speaker 1: in winter. So I love winter.
[12:07] Speaker 2: But then dressing in winter is also more. Winter's way
[12:10] Speaker 2: better for everything. I Oh, no summer. Well, I'm an
[12:13] Speaker 2: ocean person.
[12:14] Speaker 1: Oh I'm a country person, but I.
[12:16] Speaker 3: Still swim in winter. But it's not as enjoyable as it.
[12:19] Speaker 1: Oh that's awful.
[12:20] Speaker 3: Okay, well it's anyway. Next up, some clever uses for
[12:24] Speaker 3: oil from Lea.
[12:32] Speaker 1: What a you ma crop packs? All right, well I
[12:37] Speaker 1: better go first.
[12:38] Speaker 2: Mine actually came from an ex Mamma Mer employee. She's
[12:41] Speaker 2: down in Melbourne and I've got a beauty brand that
[12:43] Speaker 2: has a body oil, and she's always buying the oil.
[12:46] Speaker 1: I love the smell how much.
[12:48] Speaker 2: I don't know why I said it like that, how
[12:49] Speaker 2: much you're going through the body. And she's like, oh no,
[12:51] Speaker 2: I use it as my makeup remover, as my cleanser,
[12:53] Speaker 2: and she uses it on a face, which you absolutely can.
[12:56] Speaker 1: It's just a lovely oil.
[12:57] Speaker 2: But then I was listening to an episode with Erin
[13:00] Speaker 2: and m not long ago, and em was stuck in
[13:02] Speaker 2: a hotel and she'd forgotten her cleanser and she's like
[13:05] Speaker 2: what do I do when she used the hand soap
[13:07] Speaker 2: and Aaron was like, you use the moisturizer before you
[13:10] Speaker 2: use the handsp like a cold cream. Anyway, you can
[13:13] Speaker 2: use a body oil. You can even use your kitchen
[13:16] Speaker 2: olive oil.
[13:17] Speaker 1: Yuck.
[13:17] Speaker 3: You would smell like you're cooking something.
[13:19] Speaker 2: Listen as a makeup remover, like your first clean Okay,
[13:23] Speaker 2: but if you're also stuck in the middle of a hotel,
[13:27] Speaker 2: I guess not in the middle of the desert. My
[13:29] Speaker 2: point is a lot of oils are just oils, you know. Yeah,
[13:31] Speaker 2: a lot of people I know have olive oil or
[13:34] Speaker 2: coconut oil in their bath or you know, this is
[13:36] Speaker 2: where all the oil stuff originated from. Probably you don't
[13:39] Speaker 2: use like canol oil. But if you've got an oil
[13:42] Speaker 2: and you need to remove your makeup or I use
[13:45] Speaker 2: good old body oil.
[13:46] Speaker 3: When you were growing up, did your mom like fry
[13:49] Speaker 3: chips and then pour the oil back in the beit
[13:51] Speaker 3: to reuse it. I'm picturing that and like the stinkiness
[13:54] Speaker 3: of But.
[13:55] Speaker 2: Yes, my mum literally used one of those funles. I
[13:58] Speaker 2: talk about other ways to put it back into like
[13:59] Speaker 2: a big vinegar thing. And then when she'd fry the
[14:01] Speaker 2: chip Yeah, they'd reuse it. I'm talking about like my
[14:04] Speaker 2: extra virgin olive oil. I use a body oil or
[14:07] Speaker 2: any oil when I shave my face. The slip, So
[14:11] Speaker 2: get your oil out? Yeah, get oily, what's yours? Because
[14:14] Speaker 2: I'm so intrigued.
[14:15] Speaker 3: I mean, it's not that interesting, but because it has
[14:18] Speaker 3: been getting colder, I've already noticed we're not even in
[14:20] Speaker 3: the cold cold parts, but I've noticed that my skin,
[14:23] Speaker 3: it's around to my mouth, me too, is getting yuck.
[14:27] Speaker 3: And I'll put makeup on and immediately doesn't matter how
[14:29] Speaker 3: I prep the skin just starts going a little bit
[14:32] Speaker 3: flaky around my nose, around my mouth and in the
[14:35] Speaker 3: crease on my chin.
[14:36] Speaker 2: Me too.
[14:36] Speaker 3: Actually, so the doctor winds barrier protect Sarah my balm.
[14:41] Speaker 3: I mean, listen, you could probably use any barrier balm,
[14:43] Speaker 3: but this one's clear, which is quite most of them
[14:45] Speaker 3: are really white. This one is clear. So I get
[14:48] Speaker 3: a little bit of this after I've done my makeup
[14:50] Speaker 3: and then just press it into those bits that get yuck.
[14:53] Speaker 1: Oh that's genius, and it just sort of.
[14:55] Speaker 3: Keeps it looking glowy. I press so I don't move
[14:57] Speaker 3: the makeup around, yes, and it kind of just locks
[15:00] Speaker 3: it in and stops it getting flakey'll, can.
[15:02] Speaker 2: You try doing that before the makeup to make sure
[15:04] Speaker 2: that area is extrajuicy?
[15:05] Speaker 3: Yes, but then it's harder to get makeup on. So
[15:08] Speaker 3: I just find like to put a afterwards your makeups on.
[15:11] Speaker 3: It's locking it in and it's going to stop the
[15:14] Speaker 3: skin getting all flaky and gross.
[15:16] Speaker 1: I love that.
[15:17] Speaker 2: Yeah, I've been finding that too, I think just because
[15:20] Speaker 2: maybe I'm forty three, so like my combo.
[15:22] Speaker 1: Skin's like I'm still combo, but the drive it's just
[15:26] Speaker 1: I hate you. You're like thanks.

[15:32] Speaker 3: it also at night times for like you know, locking
[15:34] Speaker 3: everything in. It's incredible product and I love that it's
