[0:39] Speaker 1: Folks, we have the matchup that we were hoping for
[0:43] Speaker 1: and that we were effectively promised by the baseball gods
[0:47] Speaker 1: at the beginning of this year in spring training. It
[0:49] Speaker 1: was when are we going to get the big bad
[0:52] Speaker 1: Brewers against the Dodgers again? And the answer is a
[0:55] Speaker 1: year later. And you know what? Otani can't have the
[0:58] Speaker 1: greatest day in the history of baseball with three homers
[1:01] Speaker 1: and 10 punch outs because he's not pitching right now.
[1:04] Speaker 1: There are so many storylines to get into. And this

[2:00] Speaker 3: back in bonus bets up to $ 1, 500. Yes, Jack, I
[2:04] Speaker 3: am extremely excited for this series. Like, wouldn't you both
[2:07] Speaker 3: agree that this is the world series in a way.
[2:11] Speaker 3: I think these are the two best teams and I
[2:13] Speaker 3: respect the hell out of Tampa, but Milwaukee, I feel
[2:16] Speaker 3: like it's just a level above. And then of course
[2:19] Speaker 3: the Dodgers are the best team in baseball.
[2:21] Speaker 2: Yeah, man.
[2:22] Speaker 1: No, this is incredibly exciting in arm. I mean, to
[2:25] Speaker 1: the point that we brought up initially, this is the
[2:27] Speaker 1: series that, you know, spring training might've been a little
[2:32] Speaker 1: bit too immediate for this. I think by May 1st
[2:37] Speaker 1: or May 15th, when we realized that the Brewers were
[2:40] Speaker 1: this darn good, this is the series that everybody circled
[2:43] Speaker 1: saying we have to see it again. Right.
[2:47] Speaker 4: And I think this was, yeah, this was the team
[2:48] Speaker 4: that I think you felt like could take down the
[2:51] Speaker 4: Dodgers potentially. And I, as much as we've talked about
[2:54] Speaker 4: it and as much as it felt like whoever wins
[2:56] Speaker 4: this one now is, is, is going to win the
[2:57] Speaker 4: world series.
[2:58] Speaker 2: This, this race team though, man, I can't, it just,
[3:00] Speaker 2: nothing would surprise me.
[3:02] Speaker 4: I agree like with the sentiment, but man, like just watching,
[3:05] Speaker 4: watching that series against the Yankees and just continuing to
[3:07] Speaker 4: just buy into this team more and more, nothing would
[3:10] Speaker 4: surprise me with the race, but it does feel like
[3:12] Speaker 4: this is the battle of the two best teams that
[3:14] Speaker 4: we have in baseball right now.
[3:15] Speaker 2: And I think it's very clear.
[3:18] Speaker 4: And I think it's very beneficial to the Brewers that
[3:21] Speaker 4: they went through this last year, got swept.
[3:23] Speaker 2: I think it's very clear that that's not going to
[3:25] Speaker 2: happen again.
[3:26] Speaker 4: I don't want to say that and just get like
[3:27] Speaker 4: old takes exposed here, but I think it was a
[3:29] Speaker 4: very valuable learning experience for them. And the team, I think,
[3:33] Speaker 4: on the surface is just, it's just better. The brewers are.
[3:36] Speaker 4: And I mean, the Dodgers obviously are better too. And
[3:38] Speaker 4: I think the big topic of conversation that is going
[3:41] Speaker 4: to be unavoidable in this, especially in the Scooble starts is, well,
[3:44] Speaker 4: what if Scooble was a brewer instead of a Dodger?
[3:46] Speaker 4: And that is going to be a fascinating wrinkle in this.
[3:50] Speaker 4: It's probably going to change from fascinating to nauseating with
[3:54] Speaker 4: how much it gets discussed, but it's unavoidable. And I
[3:56] Speaker 4: think it's part of the reason why it was such a,
[3:58] Speaker 4: a contentious and frequent topic around the deadline.
[4:02] Speaker 2: It wasn't just because, Oh, he's a Dodger again. It
[4:04] Speaker 2: was also because in the.
[4:06] Speaker 4: Next closest team, most likely to potentially get scuba, the
[4:09] Speaker 4: other team that was quote unquote in on him was
[4:12] Speaker 4: the team that was most likely going to meet up
[4:14] Speaker 4: with them, but meet up with the Dodgers in the NLCS.
[4:16] Speaker 4: So that is going to be the big topic of
[4:19] Speaker 4: conversation here.
[4:20] Speaker 2: And I guess reasonably so.
[4:23] Speaker 1: But the other element of this is the guy that's
[4:25] Speaker 1: going to start game two for Milwaukee is is going
[4:28] Speaker 1: to be a guy that would have been the headliner
[4:31] Speaker 1: of the Scooble return, right? Logan Henderson was the non-star
[4:35] Speaker 1: for the Milwaukee Brewers in terms of a trade, possibly,
[4:39] Speaker 1: with the Detroit Tigers. And Henderson, in all likelihood, is
[4:42] Speaker 1: going to be getting the ball game two against Blake Snell.
[4:45] Speaker 1: So we are lining up for a likely Scooble versus
[4:49] Speaker 1: Mizorowski game one. Get your popcorn ready, and then make
[4:52] Speaker 1: sure you have another bag of the Warville Redenbacher for
[4:54] Speaker 1: game two, because that's going to be Henderson's and Snell.
[4:57] Speaker 1: And then game three will be kind of interesting. We'll
[5:00] Speaker 1: see how Milwaukee wants to do it. They'll pen it
[5:02] Speaker 1: likely against Yamamoto. And you feel like that's just going
[5:05] Speaker 1: to be a Dodger win, but can you win the
[5:07] Speaker 1: non Yamamoto starts if you are the Milwaukee Brewers and
[5:11] Speaker 1: the Henderson game to start really jumps out to me.
[5:14] Speaker 1: There's no, I don't think there's a right or wrong
[5:18] Speaker 1: answer for Mizorowski and Scooble, like a choose your flavor
[5:21] Speaker 1: in game one of the NLCS, but yeah, I view
[5:24] Speaker 1: like this Henderson-Snell start as a huge one, and Peyton's
[5:28] Speaker 1: flashing this right now. Pitchers with 15 or more starts
[5:31] Speaker 1: in a single season and a sub 0.85 whip, and
[5:36] Speaker 1: that may sound arbitrary, but that is an elite, elite
[5:39] Speaker 1: number since 1995, so post-previous work stoppage. Mizorowski and Henderson
[5:46] Speaker 1: are two of them. The last guy to do it
[5:48] Speaker 1: was Justin Verlander in 2022, DeGrom in 21, Verlander again
[5:51] Speaker 1: in 19. Clayton Kershaw in 16. We're talking about nine seasons.
[5:59] Speaker 1: Maddox is a Hall of Famer. Pedro is a Hall
[6:01] Speaker 1: of Famer. Granke could be. Kershaw will be. Verlander will be. DeGrom,
[6:05] Speaker 1: in all likelihood, will be. Verlander will be. And then
[6:08] Speaker 1: you've got Henderson and Mizorowski. Like, this is as impressive
[6:12] Speaker 1: a one-two punch as there is in Major League Baseball,
[6:15] Speaker 1: and they get the ball against the freaking Dodgers when
[6:18] Speaker 1: they have the one through four that lines up with
[6:20] Speaker 1: anybody in recent memory in Major League Baseball.
[6:23] Speaker 3: And it's hard not to like Henderson's matchup against the Dodgers.
[6:26] Speaker 3: I feel like he can copy and paste what Tyler
[6:30] Speaker 3: Malley did against the Dodgers. I'm not saying that they're
[6:32] Speaker 3: the same type of pitcher, but they are both guys
[6:35] Speaker 3: that rely on that heater number one and then either
[6:38] Speaker 3: a changeup or a splitter. you know, type off speed
[6:41] Speaker 3: pitch off of that. Henderson just has a better bag
[6:44] Speaker 3: and he's a better pitcher than Tyler Malley. But we
[6:46] Speaker 3: saw how successful Malley was when he was just working
[6:49] Speaker 3: in the zone, mixing speeds, hitting the corners like that's
[6:52] Speaker 3: Henderson's game. It's just Henderson is better than Tyler Malley
[6:56] Speaker 3: at it. And again, we already saw how the Dodgers
[6:58] Speaker 3: just couldn't really get anything going. So if I'm Logan Henderson,
[7:02] Speaker 3: I have to have confidence in myself. I feel like
[7:05] Speaker 3: I'm better than Tyler Malley. And we just saw what
[7:09] Speaker 3: Tyler Malley did to the Dodgers. So a lot of
[7:11] Speaker 3: confidence in him too.
[7:13] Speaker 4: And we've seen Logan Henderson. He's seen himself have success
[7:15] Speaker 4: against the Dodgers as well. I mean, he's thrown, he
[7:18] Speaker 4: threw 12 innings against them, two different starts. He went
[7:20] Speaker 4: six innings in each of them, I believe, or 12 total,
[7:22] Speaker 4: excuse me, where he pitched to a 0.75 ERA, just
[7:26] Speaker 4: one earned run, which came on a solo shot in
[7:29] Speaker 4: those two starts against the Dodgers. So, you know, you
[7:32] Speaker 4: could say, oh, well now they're seeing him for a
[7:33] Speaker 4: third time, but They didn't look comfortable at all in
[7:36] Speaker 4: either of those starts. And it's been a little while
[7:38] Speaker 4: since then. So I do think, and you saw the
[7:40] Speaker 4: proof in the pudding with Tyler Malley. Like, I do
[7:42] Speaker 4: think this is an opportunity for the brewers to, I
[7:46] Speaker 4: think people are going to look at the names on
[7:48] Speaker 4: the surface and you're going to see, you know, just,
[7:50] Speaker 4: just this list of, of, you know, Cy Young winners and,
[7:53] Speaker 4: and all-stars and top end arms. but without a doubt,
[7:57] Speaker 4: I mean, especially from what we've seen from production this
[7:59] Speaker 4: year period with, with Mizorowski and Henderson, but also just
[8:02] Speaker 4: with what Henderson has done against the Dodgers, he has
[8:05] Speaker 4: all of the ability to match whoever is opposite of him,
[8:08] Speaker 4: you know, in his start. So that's what I think is,
[8:11] Speaker 4: is an important wrinkle in this. And I think it
[8:13] Speaker 4: is imperative as Jack alluded to that, that Henderson does
[8:16] Speaker 4: give you that quality because you are even, even though
[8:19] Speaker 4: I do love, you know, what the brewers can bring
[8:21] Speaker 4: to the table with the way that they can mix
[8:22] Speaker 4: and match and, they have several different players that can
[8:24] Speaker 4: give them multi-inning length and the bullpen's good. Yamamoto is just,
[8:29] Speaker 4: that is like the ultimate, like a dichotomy to a
[8:32] Speaker 4: bullpen game.
[8:33] Speaker 2: Like, I think that's just, just the, you.
[8:34] Speaker 4: Have the guy that even when he's off, he can
[8:36] Speaker 4: give you six or seven innings versus a bullpen game.
[8:39] Speaker 2: Like, and when he's on can go CG.
[8:41] Speaker 4: So that's going to be a big difference there, but
[8:44] Speaker 4: in games one and two, I think that will, it'll
[8:47] Speaker 4: go back to the lazy analysis of it's going to
[8:50] Speaker 4: come down to who actually comes through with a bigger swing,
[8:52] Speaker 4: because I think both, teams are going to throw the
[8:54] Speaker 4: ball really well. And it's a larger conversation I wanted
[8:57] Speaker 4: to have about the post season in general. I know
[8:58] Speaker 4: teams don't usually hit well in the post season. It's
[9:01] Speaker 4: really hard to hit in the post season, but nobody's
[9:03] Speaker 4: hitting this post season. And I, I think it's going
[9:05] Speaker 4: to be a lot of the same in this series.
[9:07] Speaker 4: You're going to get the big swings. Um, and, and from,
[9:10] Speaker 4: you know, usually it's going to be the big time players,
[9:12] Speaker 4: the Freddie Freemans and those types of guys that do that.
[9:14] Speaker 4: But in this post season in particular, so far, it's
[9:17] Speaker 4: been as light hitting as ever. If you go back to,
[9:20] Speaker 4: you know, 2021, just to keep it a little bit
[9:22] Speaker 4: more recent, uh, this is the lowest WRC plus at
[9:26] Speaker 4: 75 that we've had in that span. And you guys
[9:29] Speaker 4: are hitting two Oh seven so far this postseason cumulatively.
[9:33] Speaker 2: So I don't think that's going.
[9:34] Speaker 4: To change too much in a series where everybody can
[9:36] Speaker 4: throw the ball really well on both these teams.
[9:39] Speaker 1: Peter and I had a pretty long conversation about that
[9:41] Speaker 1: a couple of nights ago where Peter said, you know,
[9:43] Speaker 1: the Dodger dynasty has kind of been rooted in not
[9:46] Speaker 1: kind of has been rooted in pitching and defense and
[9:48] Speaker 1: the occasional big swing because the Dodger offense is Has
[9:52] Speaker 1: not been guns a blazing like a 125 WRC plus
[9:55] Speaker 1: you mentioned what in the last three years in the
[9:58] Speaker 1: postseason the Dodger offense. is right around a 105 WRC plus.
[10:02] Speaker 1: But when you go OPS wise among all playoff teams
[10:05] Speaker 1: over the last handful of years, the Dodgers are always
[10:07] Speaker 1: like first or second in postseason OPS. So it's all
[10:11] Speaker 1: relative to what happens in the regular season. Literally everybody
[10:14] Speaker 1: ticks down. So while the Dodgers may not be the
[10:17] Speaker 1: eight runs a game gauntlet that they can turn into
[10:21] Speaker 1: for a week and a half two weeks at a
[10:22] Speaker 1: time in the regular season they're still among the top
[10:26] Speaker 1: of the poor performers team offense wise in the postseason
[10:30] Speaker 1: postseason has always been built on pitching we always find
[10:32] Speaker 1: ourselves talking about the starter that comes up huge right
[10:36] Speaker 1: we never really find ourselves talking about the guy that
[10:39] Speaker 1: is racking up a whole bunch of hits we talk
[10:42] Speaker 1: about the guys with the big homers a la freddie
[10:44] Speaker 1: freeman Max Muncy is going to get a lot of pub,
[10:46] Speaker 1: deservedly so, because Muncy goes yard constantly in October. But
[10:51] Speaker 1: you rely on the long ball. And that's why Dave
[10:53] Speaker 1: Roberts has mentioned time and time again that you win
[10:57] Speaker 1: with stars in October. Stars hit home runs like the
[11:02] Speaker 1: guys that are really good hit accumulation wise. There's one
[11:06] Speaker 1: every year or every other year. Last year, it was
[11:10] Speaker 1: Ernie Clement, right? We couldn't stop talking about Ernie Clement
[11:13] Speaker 1: because he was ripping knocks constantly. In 23, it was
[11:16] Speaker 1: Cattell Marte, right? Marte was the guy that was constantly
[11:20] Speaker 1: racking up hits. But now we're at this point of
[11:23] Speaker 1: the postseason where the offensive stars and the guys that
[11:26] Speaker 1: are stealing headlines are who? Freeman, Victor Mesa Jr., Jose
[11:32] Speaker 1: Ramirez over the last couple of days. How are they
[11:34] Speaker 1: doing it with the extra base hit? It's not because
[11:36] Speaker 1: they're going three for five every single day.
[11:39] Speaker 3: So I have a question for the both of you
[11:40] Speaker 3: on that point about offense. And I want to focus
[11:45] Speaker 3: first on Milwaukee. So Milwaukee, they had a top five
[11:50] Speaker 3: offense in Major League Baseball this season. They led Major
[11:53] Speaker 3: League Baseball in manufactured runs, meaning scoring runs without the
[11:57] Speaker 3: need for a home run. But at the end of
[12:00] Speaker 3: the day, the Brewers did rank 28th among 30 MLB
[12:04] Speaker 3: teams in home runs this year. And we've seen in
[12:07] Speaker 3: past playoff matchups against the Dodgers where they've had a
[12:12] Speaker 3: similar identity on offense, the lack of power, but their
[12:17] Speaker 3: offense is built on stringing those hits together with how
[12:19] Speaker 3: good the Dodgers pitching is. You can kind of think
[12:22] Speaker 3: about it both ways, because even if they were top
[12:25] Speaker 3: five in home runs, it's going to be really hard
[12:28] Speaker 3: to leave the ballpark against these Dodgers pitchers anyway so
[12:32] Speaker 3: is it almost better to have a Brewers offense if
[12:37] Speaker 3: identity like this or would you prefer the lack of
[12:41] Speaker 3: manufacturing but more homers from Milwaukee in this specific.
[12:45] Speaker 1: Matchup my quick answer to you and I'll let arm
[12:48] Speaker 1: elaborate is I guess we're gonna find out I don't
[12:52] Speaker 1: know the right answer to that question.
[12:53] Speaker 3: Yeah I don't know the right answer either that's why
[12:55] Speaker 3: I asked it so I could get out of the
[12:57] Speaker 3: question before what have you asked.
[12:58] Speaker 1: Me And now I'm just the idiot that can't answer it.
[13:02] Speaker 1: So RM, you got safe.
[13:04] Speaker 4: What's fascinating here is you have usually there's like a
[13:09] Speaker 4: components that tie into that identity too.
[13:11] Speaker 2: When you look at like the raise manufacturer, the, the
[13:13] Speaker 2: Yankees were hitting homers.
[13:14] Speaker 4: But with that, it was also the Yankees don't really
[13:17] Speaker 4: play fundamentally sound baseball and.
[13:18] Speaker 1: Booted the ball around suck.
[13:20] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[13:20] Speaker 4: Whereas the raise put the ball in play and put
[13:22] Speaker 4: pressure on them and expose that. And, and that worked
[13:25] Speaker 4: in their favor. However, the Dodgers can play really good
[13:29] Speaker 4: defense overall. Cause you have some questions like Tay Oscar
[13:31] Speaker 4: in the corner or whatever, but Milwaukee, sorry.
[13:36] Speaker 3: There are better defensive team than Milwaukee.
[13:37] Speaker 2: I would say.
[13:38] Speaker 4: And both of these teams, you put them on plate.
[13:41] Speaker 4: You feel good about them making the plays that they
[13:43] Speaker 4: need to make. So that's not going to work in
[13:45] Speaker 4: your favor as much. So when I think about both
[13:47] Speaker 4: these teams being able to defend it at a high level,
[13:49] Speaker 4: especially I just think when the stakes are high in
[13:51] Speaker 4: the way that they're going to position their players defensively.
[13:53] Speaker 4: And then on top of that, The fact that it's
[13:56] Speaker 4: going to be really hard to string hits together in
[13:59] Speaker 4: this series. I think the long ball is going to
[14:02] Speaker 4: be something that, you know, could be the differentiator a
[14:05] Speaker 4: little bit more than most other series.
[14:06] Speaker 2: A home run, of course, is always going to be
[14:07] Speaker 2: the differentiator.
[14:08] Speaker 4: But I think in this one, it could be even
[14:10] Speaker 4: more so because it's going to be hard to string
[14:12] Speaker 4: together knocks. especially with the way that both these teams
[14:16] Speaker 4: can take out their starter if they run into trouble
[14:19] Speaker 4: and bring in just a freakazoid reliever.
[14:21] Speaker 2: They can play the matchups left and right.
[14:23] Speaker 4: The ways that they can just do so many different
[14:25] Speaker 4: things with all the different weapons at their disposal, it's
[14:28] Speaker 4: going to be hard to string hits together. So in
[14:30] Speaker 4: this series where both teams can defend and make those
[14:32] Speaker 4: big plays, I do think that it's going to be
[14:36] Speaker 4: a little bit more of the home run importance. And
[14:38] Speaker 4: that's not to say that the Brewers can't lean into
[14:41] Speaker 4: that too.
[14:41] Speaker 2: I've really liked.
[14:42] Speaker 4: the at-bats that we've seen from, from William Contreras. I've
[14:45] Speaker 4: really liked, you know, even Christian Yelich, he's, he's looks,
[14:49] Speaker 4: you know, fresh and looks like he could provide a
[14:51] Speaker 4: little bit more pop, but of course it's going to
[14:53] Speaker 4: be hard to compete with the Dodgers and the, and
[14:55] Speaker 4: the power that they can provide in the way that
[14:57] Speaker 4: so many different guys in that lineup can change the
[14:59] Speaker 4: game with one swing.
[15:00] Speaker 3: So you mentioned a couple of guys in the Brewers
[15:03] Speaker 3: lineup that have impressed you. And I totally agree, but
[15:06] Speaker 3: I think for the Brewers to beat the Dodgers, um,
[15:09] Speaker 3: they need Bryce Terang to play like one of the
[15:12] Speaker 3: best players in Major League Baseball, like he normally does
[15:14] Speaker 3: during the regular season. But in the playoffs, and this
[15:17] Speaker 3: has been now routine for him, he just hasn't showed up, right?
[15:21] Speaker 3: It's kind of like Acuna is much more talented. So
[15:25] Speaker 3: the eyes are kind of geared more towards Acuna on this.
[15:28] Speaker 3: But Terang's numbers in the postseason are some of the
[15:31] Speaker 3: worst in baseball as well. you know, worse than like
[15:34] Speaker 3: a Jose Ramirez before the last couple of games. And
[15:36] Speaker 3: he's right in the middle of the lineup. And we
[15:39] Speaker 3: know how good the Brewers lineup can be when you
[15:41] Speaker 3: get Churrio and you get Contreras and you get Jake
[15:43] Speaker 3: Bowers and you get Bryce Terang. Like what's so good
[15:47] Speaker 3: about the Brewers is how deep they are. But if
[15:49] Speaker 3: that depth is being tested by excellent pitching in the playoffs,
[15:52] Speaker 3: that's why the Brewers have come up short. So I'm
[15:55] Speaker 3: looking at Bowers. I'm looking at Terang. Those guys need
[15:58] Speaker 3: to show up.
[16:00] Speaker 1: I'm going to throw you a kind of edgy take here,
[16:03] Speaker 1: but I also just want to point out what he's
[16:05] Speaker 1: done in his last two postseason series. I'm also looking
[16:08] Speaker 1: at Jackson Chorio at this point, and I'm not saying
[16:11] Speaker 1: that he's been a dud. I'm saying that opponents have
[16:15] Speaker 1: been pitching around him in the 25 NLCS and in
[16:19] Speaker 1: the past NLDS against San Diego. And these are formidable
[16:22] Speaker 1: pitching staffs, right? The Dodgers last year in the CS
[16:25] Speaker 1: and then the Padres this year in the DS. Like
[16:27] Speaker 1: these are really good bullpen's. But Jack Centorio, because of
[16:30] Speaker 1: what he did in his first two postseason series in
[16:33] Speaker 1: his life, made him the guy that you circle four
[16:37] Speaker 1: times in Sharpie coming into each series. And the numbers
[16:40] Speaker 1: would back that up. Jack Centorio burst onto the scene
[16:44] Speaker 1: in the wildcard loss in three games to the New
[16:47] Speaker 1: York Mets. Alonzo hit that homer the other way against
[16:49] Speaker 1: Devin Williams. that pushed the Mets forward in the 24
[16:52] Speaker 1: wildcard series, but Chorio in three games was five for
[16:56] Speaker 1: 11 with two homers. And he only came once in
[16:59] Speaker 1: 12 plate appearances. Then he comes back. And in last
[17:02] Speaker 1: year's DS against the Cubs was insane. Seven for 18
[17:05] Speaker 1: with two doubles, a homer. He drove in six and
[17:08] Speaker 1: five games to three 90 clip with an 1100 OPS
[17:12] Speaker 1: and 19 plate appearances. But after that, he went three
[17:16] Speaker 1: for 15 against the Dodgers and the CS last year.
[17:19] Speaker 1: And he went three for 16 against the Padres this
[17:23] Speaker 1: year in the DS. Now he did drive in six
[17:25] Speaker 1: and he only came once in 19 plate appearances. That's
[17:28] Speaker 1: important to note. And I think the six RBIs in
[17:30] Speaker 1: four games is incredibly, incredibly important, but three for 16
[17:35] Speaker 1: with one extra base hit probably can't happen for Milwaukee
[17:39] Speaker 1: against the Dodgers and the CS. So I look at
[17:41] Speaker 1: those two series and I say, I think I need
[17:44] Speaker 1: Torrio to give me three more big swings than what
[17:47] Speaker 1: he gave me against the Padres in the division series.
[17:50] Speaker 3: It's a really good point. I want to throw it
[17:52] Speaker 3: over to Aram. I do think that if Jackson Merrill
[17:55] Speaker 3: wasn't playing center, I think he would have been five
[17:57] Speaker 3: for 16. I think I swear. I think Jackson Merrill
[18:00] Speaker 3: took away two.
[18:01] Speaker 2: Balls at the gap.
[18:02] Speaker 1: So does Pat Murphy.
[18:03] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[18:04] Speaker 1: It's not just you.
[18:04] Speaker 3: It's unbelievable defense, but it's a really great point because again,
[18:09] Speaker 3: against the Dodgers, what have they done through, Pretty much
[18:14] Speaker 3: every postseason series so far, they take away your best player.
[18:17] Speaker 3: It's almost like an NBA with the defense or, you know,
[18:20] Speaker 3: the Belichick Patriots taking away the best wide receiver. That's
[18:24] Speaker 3: what the Dodgers do. They disintegrated.
[18:28] Speaker 1: I'm sitting here getting ready for this. I'm like, OK,
[18:30] Speaker 1: on both sides, if you take away wide receiver one,
[18:32] Speaker 1: this game really changes.
[18:33] Speaker 2: Right.
[18:34] Speaker 3: Like it's it's something that is equivalent across sports. And
[18:37] Speaker 3: that's what the daughters have done with Acuna and Olsen
[18:39] Speaker 3: and Baldwin. And like, they're going to give a 22
[18:42] Speaker 3: year old, their best shot with four pitchers who pitched
[18:45] Speaker 3: at a hall of fame level with what I believe
[18:49] Speaker 3: to be the best bullpen left in the playoffs.
[18:51] Speaker 4: And this is where I do circle back to Peter's
[18:54] Speaker 4: initial point. Like, I don't even think I fully realized
[18:56] Speaker 4: how bad I know it's a ranks been bad, but like,
[18:59] Speaker 4: if you go back, he had a good 2024 series
[19:02] Speaker 4: against the Mets in the, in the wild card.
[19:05] Speaker 2: But when you go back.
[19:05] Speaker 4: From 2025 and now 2026, so the last 13 games
[19:09] Speaker 4: in the postseason for Bryce Turing, he's six for 51
[19:13] Speaker 4: with one Homer, a double that is a one 18
[19:17] Speaker 4: batting average. And now in his career in the postseason,
[19:19] Speaker 4: he's at one 69, but it's six for his last
[19:22] Speaker 4: 51 in this postseason so far, you know, he's betting
[19:25] Speaker 4: three for 31 crazy stuff for a player that is
[19:28] Speaker 4: as talented as he is. And I think that's where
[19:30] Speaker 4: you also look at, you know, if you're going to
[19:33] Speaker 4: pitch around certain guys, if, if you're going to, you know,
[19:36] Speaker 4: potentially say, Hey, we're not going to let, you know,
[19:39] Speaker 4: Jackson Choreo beat us as much. Like there's going to
[19:40] Speaker 4: be other guys put in positions here to have to succeed. And,
[19:44] Speaker 4: you know, I think the fact that you're getting good
[19:46] Speaker 4: at bats from, from several of these other guys behind
[19:48] Speaker 4: Choreo helps, but I think they're still trying to figure
[19:51] Speaker 4: out like what the best order is. And I know
[19:54] Speaker 4: it depends on lefty righty and all these different things,
[19:56] Speaker 4: but we've seen a little bit of a turnstile of
[20:00] Speaker 4: like who bats second in this lineup. And I know
[20:03] Speaker 4: they go usually splits dependent, but still it's like, who's
[20:05] Speaker 4: that guy that's right behind choreo.
[20:07] Speaker 2: That's going to inflict some fear.
[20:08] Speaker 4: And right now it kind of feels like you got
[20:10] Speaker 4: to just get it right back over to Contreras, especially
[20:12] Speaker 4: if there's a lefty on the mound too.
[20:14] Speaker 2: And that's the other side of it as well.
[20:16] Speaker 4: Cause the other guy that could hit second is like
[20:18] Speaker 4: a Jake Bowers, but again, left on left there.
[20:20] Speaker 2: So if it's terrain or Bowers, those are even yellow.
[20:23] Speaker 4: Sometimes they're all left on left spots that you'd have
[20:26] Speaker 4: to have for all of your number two hitting candidates.
[20:28] Speaker 4: So that is going to be a fascinating wrinkle to me.
[20:31] Speaker 4: And then I agree with the choreo set of things
[20:34] Speaker 4: is like, he's going to have to take his walks
[20:35] Speaker 4: and things like that too. But again, he's also going
[20:38] Speaker 4: to need to, you know, come up with some bigger
[20:40] Speaker 4: swings when it's lower leverage, I guess, because you want
[20:43] Speaker 4: to try to put your team in the lead. I
[20:44] Speaker 4: know I have all the confidence in the world that
[20:46] Speaker 4: he's going to come up big if he gets up
[20:47] Speaker 4: with traffic late in a ball game.
[20:50] Speaker 2: But as you mentioned, just trying to navigate Jack, like this.
[20:54] Speaker 4: Difficulty of being 22, but being the guy that the
[20:57] Speaker 4: team doesn't want to let beat them in the leadoff
[21:00] Speaker 4: spot as well, where it's like, yeah, I kind of
[21:03] Speaker 4: want to be a little bit more aggressive. I want to,
[21:05] Speaker 4: you know, make something happen is really difficult. And it's,
[21:07] Speaker 4: you know, the old school leadoff thing is see a
[21:09] Speaker 4: lot of pitches and blah, blah, blah. And you don't
[21:10] Speaker 4: want to do that anymore. But in a sense, I
[21:13] Speaker 4: think Torrio kind of has to do that because they're
[21:15] Speaker 4: going to try to get him to chase more.
[21:16] Speaker 2: Like he always has had a little bit of the
[21:18] Speaker 2: propensity to do.
[21:19] Speaker 4: And they're going to try to get him to get
[21:20] Speaker 4: himself out because you're not as afraid of some of
[21:23] Speaker 4: these other guys, even though.
[21:24] Speaker 2: I do like a lot of these bats.
[21:26] Speaker 1: And to quantify the propensity to chase, Jack Centurio in
[21:30] Speaker 1: 35 plate appearances over those last two series that I
[21:34] Speaker 1: cited has walked once. So it's not like he's taking
[21:39] Speaker 1: his walks either. He is looking to play a little
[21:42] Speaker 1: bit of hero ball, and it's just not really working. Now,
[21:45] Speaker 1: the RBIs came and he got the job done. But again,
[21:49] Speaker 1: like he's just not on base at the level that
[21:51] Speaker 1: they probably need him to be if they were to
[21:53] Speaker 1: take a series from the Dodgers this go around. Now,
[21:57] Speaker 1: this can seem toss-up-ish internally. This could also seem like
[22:01] Speaker 1: it skews in favor of the Dodgers. And if you
[22:03] Speaker 1: are sitting here listening and watching, number one, thank you.
[22:06] Speaker 1: Number two, you may believe that the Dodgers have a
[22:09] Speaker 1: distinct advantage. And I wouldn't blame you one bit with
[22:12] Speaker 1: the way that Peter brought this up, the way that
[22:14] Speaker 1: Diaz has thrown in the DS, the way that that
[22:18] Speaker 1: bullpen is operated. Edgardo Enriquez looks like a freak of
[22:21] Speaker 1: nature right now. And he had himself a hell of
[22:24] Speaker 1: a year in the Dodger bullpen. but that rotation is
[22:28] Speaker 1: where their bread is buttered. And the way they line
[22:31] Speaker 1: up that rotation, again, I sit here and I think, okay,
[22:36] Speaker 1: we're 22 minutes and 10 seconds into this, and we
[22:38] Speaker 1: kind of laid out the path for the Brewers to
[22:40] Speaker 1: make some noise, but can they actually do that against Scooble, Snell, Yamamoto,
[22:45] Speaker 1: and Glass? It's going to be really, really hard with
[22:48] Speaker 1: the bullpen reinforcements behind them.
[22:50] Speaker 3: They're going to have to take advantage the Brewers offense
[22:52] Speaker 3: of every single little crumb the Dodgers leave for them.
[22:56] Speaker 3: And when we're talking about crumbs, I think an important
[22:59] Speaker 3: one is the Brewers on the bases because Will Smith
[23:03] Speaker 3: is below average when it comes to, you know, nabbing
[23:08] Speaker 3: runners at second trying to steal. And the Brewers were
[23:11] Speaker 3: fifth in stolen bases. So can walks turn into doubles?
[23:15] Speaker 3: That's how the Brewers can start to make some noise offensively.
[23:19] Speaker 3: And then for the Dodgers side, They're a team where
[23:22] Speaker 3: Mookie can go steal bases, Shohei Otani. There's a couple
[23:25] Speaker 3: other guys in their lineup that can all go grab
[23:27] Speaker 3: a base. But Contreras is one of the best in
[23:30] Speaker 3: baseball at throwing runners out. So at least from a
[23:34] Speaker 3: base running perspective, that's an edge for Milwaukee where they
[23:39] Speaker 3: could possibly take advantage of things like that. But at
[23:41] Speaker 3: the same time, it's about getting to first base. And
[23:44] Speaker 3: if the guys we've already talked about, like Terang and Bowers,
[23:48] Speaker 3: and let's say Torrio has only a decent series.
[23:50] Speaker 2: They're going to lose because.
[23:52] Speaker 3: When we talk about the bullpens, you can say, well,
[23:56] Speaker 3: the Brewers bullpen is deeper. I don't even know if
[23:58] Speaker 3: I'd agree, but I could understand that point. But for me,
[24:02] Speaker 3: I think the Dodgers bullpen at the top is more talented.
[24:06] Speaker 3: And over a seven-game series, the more you see these
[24:11] Speaker 3: bullpen arms and the more tired that they get, because
[24:14] Speaker 3: we talk about the Miz and Henderson, who's starting game three?
[24:17] Speaker 3: Is it Dustin May? Is he going longer than three
[24:20] Speaker 3: or four innings? And then who's going game four? Is
[24:23] Speaker 3: it Robert Gasser? And then is he only going three
[24:26] Speaker 3: or four innings? So you're going to do that for
[24:29] Speaker 3: four games.
[24:31] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[24:32] Speaker 3: That's really tough. You can have a great bullpen, but
[24:35] Speaker 3: that's the Dodgers offense on the other side, facing that
[24:38] Speaker 3: bullpen again and again and again.
[24:40] Speaker 4: So quickly, I think this does Yama get the ball
[24:42] Speaker 4: game too. Instead, I think because after the Blake's now, sorry.
[24:46] Speaker 3: You're saying just Yamamoto pitch game too. Yeah, I think so.
[24:50] Speaker 2: Yeah. So I think he gets the ball game too.
[24:54] Speaker 4: That that's going to create, I think a really cool
[24:56] Speaker 4: matchup here between, you know, Yamamoto and Henderson, Scooble and Miz.
[24:59] Speaker 4: Cause I know if they copy paste last rotation, you
[25:03] Speaker 4: had Snell in the two spot, but I think with
[25:04] Speaker 4: his command issues and Dave Robertson really hold back saying like,
[25:07] Speaker 4: he's got to.
[25:08] Speaker 2: Throw more strikes.
[25:08] Speaker 4: He was a little bit just, just like you could
[25:10] Speaker 4: tell there's a little bit of frustration with that performance.
[25:14] Speaker 4: That's where I, yes, on paper, Snell glass now versus
[25:18] Speaker 4: may on a, on a short leash and gas or
[25:21] Speaker 4: on a short leash is very much advantage, you know,
[25:24] Speaker 4: to the Dodgers.
[25:25] Speaker 2: But what version are they getting?
[25:27] Speaker 4: Like is, is Snell going to be inefficient and only
[25:30] Speaker 4: go four and two thirds or, Is he going to
[25:32] Speaker 4: be the multi-style young winner who can dominate an outing
[25:37] Speaker 4: and give you 12 strikeouts and go seven innings? Same
[25:41] Speaker 4: thing with Glasnow. I think he's looked a lot better.
[25:43] Speaker 4: He looked better down the stretch. But both of these
[25:45] Speaker 4: guys had a little bit of execution issues and efficiency
[25:48] Speaker 4: issues that resulted in them being chased a little bit
[25:51] Speaker 4: earlier than I think Dave Roberts wanted. So if neither
[25:54] Speaker 4: of them are cruising through five, all of a sudden
[25:57] Speaker 4: that advantage is hedged a little bit. And yes, I
[25:59] Speaker 4: agree that the Dodgers bullpen is fantastic, but you're starting
[26:03] Speaker 4: to have a more even playing field again versus the
[26:06] Speaker 4: on paper battle here. Of course, wouldn't surprise me if
[26:09] Speaker 4: either of those guys shove, but it also wouldn't surprise
[26:11] Speaker 4: me if either of them kind of struggled and the
[26:13] Speaker 4: Brewers wore them out to struggle to get through five plus.
[26:17] Speaker 3: And it also wouldn't surprise me if the Dodgers offense
[26:19] Speaker 3: continues to struggle a little bit. At the end of
[26:21] Speaker 3: the day, they put up a 79 WRC plus against
[26:24] Speaker 3: the Braves pitching. And the Braves have obviously great pitching
[26:29] Speaker 3: from Malley and Sale into their bullpen. And the Brewers
[26:33] Speaker 3: might be even better than that. And I think Shohei
[26:36] Speaker 3: Otani is obviously massive here because he did not look
[26:41] Speaker 3: anything like himself. And we saw in the playoffs last year,
[26:44] Speaker 3: Otani won a game by himself. Now he's not going
[26:47] Speaker 3: to pitch. And if he's hitting this way, I mean,
[26:50] Speaker 3: he's going to see a lot of Aaron Ashby. He's
[26:52] Speaker 3: going to see a lot of D.L.
[26:53] Speaker 2: Hall.
[26:54] Speaker 3: He's going to see some good lefties in that Brewers pen.
[26:56] Speaker 3: And from the looks of it, Shohei Otani just could
[27:00] Speaker 3: just throw him sliders away from a left-handed pitcher. And
[27:04] Speaker 3: he is flailing at them. We've seen the Dodgers have
[27:08] Speaker 3: to drop him to fifth in the lineup. And Will
[27:11] Speaker 3: Smith is another guy who I'm looking at too. We
[27:14] Speaker 3: talk about his defense behind the plate. Is he able
[27:16] Speaker 3: to nab some of these Brewers runners? The Dodgers are
[27:19] Speaker 3: at their best when Will Smith is, is will smith
[27:23] Speaker 3: and will smith has not been will smith i know
[27:24] Speaker 3: that's bad analysis but it's just true because he looks
[27:27] Speaker 3: like he's just kind of in between right now and
[27:29] Speaker 3: when will smith is at his best you could throw
[27:31] Speaker 3: it 105 miles an hour and he's going to hit
[27:33] Speaker 3: it out 110 but it seems like fastballs are getting
[27:36] Speaker 3: by him right now which worries me for a guy
[27:39] Speaker 3: who's just feasted off velocity and it's funny 2026 playoff
[27:43] Speaker 3: ex-wobo leaders looking at quality of contact gosh daughters of
[27:46] Speaker 3: brewers tied exactly Yankees. So analytically the Yankees clearly better
[27:50] Speaker 3: than the race.
[27:52] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[27:52] Speaker 2: Great series. Yeah. Great series. Above the race. They should,
[27:56] Speaker 2: they should let them know. Yeah.
[27:58] Speaker 4: You know, if the series was longer, we would have the, the,
[28:01] Speaker 4: the stats would have normalized and we would have.
[28:03] Speaker 3: Won because of the X. Well, but can we at
[28:05] Speaker 3: least say that the race didn't sweep?
[28:07] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[28:08] Speaker 2: Just give me one luck factor there.
[28:12] Speaker 1: The X series. Yeah.
[28:13] Speaker 3: The X series was Tampa and five. Yeah, well, we
[28:16] Speaker 3: did pretty well next series. We still lost, but we battled.
[28:18] Speaker 3: We battled on the spreadsheet.
[28:20] Speaker 2: We did great.
[28:21] Speaker 4: So Diaz and Roki Sasaki components are fun, too, because
[28:26] Speaker 4: Evan Phillips is throwing the ball really well this year.
[28:28] Speaker 4: Tanner Scott has been fantastic. And you mentioned Enriquez. Those
[28:32] Speaker 4: guys alone, you'd feel like, OK, yeah, if you didn't
[28:34] Speaker 4: have Diaz healthy and back, you'd still be like, this
[28:36] Speaker 4: is a good this is a really, really good bullpen.
[28:39] Speaker 4: But with this version of Diaz and now Sasaki being
[28:42] Speaker 4: bumped into the bullpen for the postseason and the way
[28:46] Speaker 4: that we've seen him have that experience and succeed, you
[28:48] Speaker 4: don't know what Sasaki you're going to get on a
[28:50] Speaker 4: given day. But one of those versions is one of
[28:53] Speaker 4: the most dominant relievers in the sport. So if they're
[28:56] Speaker 4: getting that version, too, it's just there's no break for
[28:58] Speaker 4: the Brewers. And I think that's going to be the
[29:00] Speaker 4: hard part, because if you get length. from Scooble and
[29:04] Speaker 4: when you get length, most likely from Yamamoto. And most
[29:07] Speaker 4: of those arms are arrested. I mean, yeah, you're still
[29:10] Speaker 4: going to go to maybe a Scott and a DS,
[29:12] Speaker 4: but maybe Rocky doesn't have to go or, you know,
[29:14] Speaker 4: Enriquez has a brief routing or you don't even go
[29:16] Speaker 4: to Vessia much to have all those guys rested and
[29:21] Speaker 4: very ready to go to maybe push their limits a
[29:24] Speaker 4: little bit more, go more than an inning or whatever
[29:26] Speaker 4: in those Snell and glass now starts hedges that concern
[29:29] Speaker 4: a lot. I think, you know, on paper, it's a
[29:32] Speaker 4: much easier job for Dave Roberts to manage this pitching
[29:36] Speaker 4: staff than it is for, you know, Pat Murphy to
[29:39] Speaker 4: manage his. which is crazy thing to say, because Murphy
[29:41] Speaker 4: has so many weapons as well, but it almost feels
[29:44] Speaker 4: like you could almost blindly pick guys here out of the,
[29:47] Speaker 4: out of the Dodgers bullpen. And you're going to probably
[29:49] Speaker 4: have a pretty good chance of it working out.
[29:51] Speaker 3: And speaking about blindly picking guys, arm, you mentioned Diaz,
[29:55] Speaker 3: Scott and Rokey. They're all amazing. vesia sometimes i think
[29:59] Speaker 3: is the best out of all of them he's just
[30:01] Speaker 3: been so effective for the dodgers in every playoff series
[30:05] Speaker 3: and i think if you ask dodger fans over the
[30:07] Speaker 3: last couple of years who's been the most valuable reliever
[30:09] Speaker 3: for you they might say alex vesia or when healthy
[30:13] Speaker 3: they might say evan phillips who has also been there
[30:15] Speaker 3: done that and he's been thrown some sweepers that just
[30:18] Speaker 3: give me the stank face like when you hear a
[30:21] Speaker 3: really good song and you instantly just pucker up and
[30:23] Speaker 3: go oh.
[30:24] Speaker 1: Yeah he's been like travis scott the entirety of your college.
[30:27] Speaker 3: Life goosebumps every time i agree and then and then
[30:32] Speaker 3: evan phillips is throwing 98 miles an hour as well
[30:34] Speaker 3: i you just look at these five horses in the
[30:38] Speaker 3: back with brock stewart as well oh and engardo enriquez
[30:41] Speaker 3: didn't even mention the 103 mile an hour fuzz balls
[30:46] Speaker 3: that's tough that's real tough yeah.
[30:49] Speaker 1: A couple of yeah a couple of burning things real
[30:52] Speaker 1: quick arm what you.
[30:52] Speaker 4: Got I was just going to say that that's where,
[30:55] Speaker 4: then I immediately go to the brewer's arms there and
[30:58] Speaker 4: guys that are nasty. Like you could get hot, like
[31:00] Speaker 4: consensatella get hot and give you some really good headings.
[31:03] Speaker 2: I just get, who are the guys that can match
[31:06] Speaker 2: some of the, can we.
[31:08] Speaker 3: Make that a cool card? Consensatella get hot.
[31:10] Speaker 5: Some of these relief farms that have loud stuff, but
[31:16] Speaker 5: obviously are not as disgusting or have not been as
[31:18] Speaker 5: consistently good as some of these other Dodgers arms.
[31:22] Speaker 4: Just execute and be able to match to give Pat
[31:25] Speaker 4: Murphy a little bit more opportunity here to just not
[31:29] Speaker 4: have to just try to bridge it to Ashby, Uribe,
[31:33] Speaker 4: and Miguel.
[31:34] Speaker 2: That's where the job gets.
[31:36] Speaker 1: A lot harder.
[31:37] Speaker 3: Real quick that was the issue yeah i was just
[31:39] Speaker 3: gonna say we have uh already a comment dodgers glaze
[31:43] Speaker 3: is crazy i think we spent the first 20 minutes
[31:46] Speaker 3: complimenting the brewers and then just started talking about the
[31:48] Speaker 3: dodgers showing the edges and now we're glazing i actually thought.
[31:51] Speaker 4: We were gonna get shit for being too pro like
[31:54] Speaker 4: how the brewers can do this.
[31:55] Speaker 1: But we're talking ball it is what do anything Can't
[31:59] Speaker 1: do anything right. So the Brewer thing, I think Arm
[32:02] Speaker 1: brings up an interesting point because last year was a
[32:05] Speaker 1: battle to bridge it to Uribe and McGill, right, in
[32:07] Speaker 1: the CS. And that's what did them in. Like, Milwaukee
[32:10] Speaker 1: ran out of pitching, and that's why they got swept.
[32:12] Speaker 1: They also got swept because Yamamoto threw a complete game,
[32:15] Speaker 1: and then there were also just dominant performances on the
[32:17] Speaker 1: other side. But Milwaukee didn't have enough pitching to win
[32:21] Speaker 1: the World Series last year. They have enough pitching to
[32:23] Speaker 1: win the World Series this year. And I think that
[32:25] Speaker 1: that's the important note here. where Chad Patrick was getting
[32:29] Speaker 1: run into the freaking ground last year in the postseason.
[32:32] Speaker 1: This year, Patrick hasn't really thrown. Harrison hasn't thrown. Drohan
[32:37] Speaker 1: is available, too. Like, they have so many long guy options.
[32:41] Speaker 1: And Jojo Romero is now in the fold, too. And
[32:44] Speaker 1: to arm's point, Sensatelli, can he get hot? But he's
[32:47] Speaker 1: also in the fold. So, like, there's more pitching. And
[32:50] Speaker 1: I think the Brewers addressed the issue. And I'm sure
[32:53] Speaker 1: that they're wishing that Harrison was the guy pre-All-Star break.
[32:57] Speaker 1: that he was where it's like, Hey, you know, we've
[32:58] Speaker 1: got our game to starter here. And then Henderson pushes
[33:01] Speaker 1: back to game three. That's not the case, but we'll
[33:03] Speaker 1: see if they can deploy Harrison in a solid spot. Milwaukee,
[33:07] Speaker 1: the answer to, do you have enough pitching last year
[33:10] Speaker 1: in the CS was no going into the 26 CS.
[33:13] Speaker 1: I think the answer is yes. The other elephant in
[33:16] Speaker 1: the room here that I want to address is Otani
[33:20] Speaker 1: like months. He can swing it. Teoscar can hit a
[33:23] Speaker 1: big Homer in October. We know that they've got a
[33:26] Speaker 1: whole lot of guys that can bang in October and
[33:28] Speaker 1: Freeman is probably at the top of the list, but
[33:31] Speaker 1: Shohei Otani just turned in a two for 13 series
[33:34] Speaker 1: without an extra base hit. What does he look like?
[33:38] Speaker 1: He's not healthy. Like that's so abundantly clear that he's
[33:41] Speaker 1: not healthy, but the expanding of the zone was really weird.
[33:46] Speaker 1: Like the swings on pitches that weren't even on the
[33:48] Speaker 1: edge of the other batter's box were like, almost on
[33:51] Speaker 1: the opposite chalk of the other batter's box. There were
[33:53] Speaker 1: some approach things in that series against Atlanta. I was like, Oh,
[33:56] Speaker 1: you're getting eviscerated right now. He's the greatest player we've
[33:59] Speaker 1: ever seen. And I just wonder if we're going to
[34:02] Speaker 1: get a clunker like we did in the DS. I
[34:04] Speaker 1: think that's a huge factor in this NLCS.
[34:08] Speaker 3: So here's my only rebuttal to that. And I'm thinking
[34:12] Speaker 3: to myself, man, All right.
[34:13] Speaker 1: If you say it's Shohei Otani, I think that's weak.
[34:16] Speaker 3: I'm not going to say Shohei Otani. I'm saying they
[34:19] Speaker 3: won in four with the entire offense, having a 79
[34:23] Speaker 3: WRC plus against the Braves winning both games in Atlanta,
[34:26] Speaker 3: because the Dodgers at the end of the day, they're
[34:29] Speaker 3: starting pitching is so good. And their bullpen is so
[34:34] Speaker 3: good that whoever you are, it's going to be a
[34:37] Speaker 3: struggle to put up three. And on the Dodgers side,
[34:40] Speaker 3: They've proven they can win series with three guys getting hot.
[34:45] Speaker 3: And the Dodgers lineup is so deep that if you
[34:48] Speaker 3: get a good Mookie, Freddie, Teoscar game, there's your four runs.
[34:52] Speaker 3: If you get a good Muncie, Will Smith, Kike Hernandez game,
[34:58] Speaker 3: there's your four runs. Pick three guys to have a
[35:02] Speaker 3: good game. Maybe sometimes it's Andy Pahez driving it in
[35:06] Speaker 3: two runs with the bases loaded. You just got to
[35:08] Speaker 3: find three. While on the Brewers, it's a full team
[35:12] Speaker 3: effort that they need. When you're asking the Brewers bullpen
[35:15] Speaker 3: to throw more innings, then you're going to have the
[35:17] Speaker 3: Dodgers bullpen. So you're asking more from the Brewers bullpen.
[35:20] Speaker 3: You might say they're as good, but they have a
[35:23] Speaker 3: bigger role here. So it's like, we're not asking as
[35:27] Speaker 3: much from the Dodgers offense because of their ability to
[35:29] Speaker 3: leave the park. We're asking a lot from the Brewers
[35:32] Speaker 3: because they don't have that ability. And then we're asking
[35:35] Speaker 3: more from their bullpen. So, We're asking a lot for
[35:38] Speaker 3: the Brewers to keep it competitive. That's why you guys
[35:41] Speaker 3: know I ran my simulations. Two out of every three
[35:45] Speaker 3: times the Dodgers win the series.
[35:48] Speaker 2: 67% of the time.
[35:49] Speaker 3: Feels fair to me.
[35:51] Speaker 2: The Brewers can't win.
[35:53] Speaker 4: The pinch hitters off the bench for there's going to
[35:56] Speaker 4: be some traffic. Inevitably, there will be a lefty up,
[36:00] Speaker 4: whether it's list them. There's going to be a lefty
[36:02] Speaker 4: up at some point. Can Gary Sanchez or Andrew Vaughn
[36:06] Speaker 4: have that big off the bench, go get the lefty swing.
[36:10] Speaker 4: Cause Vessi is going to be coming in when there's traffic,
[36:12] Speaker 4: they throw that guy into the fire, like none other.
[36:15] Speaker 4: And he gets out of those jams. There's going to
[36:17] Speaker 4: be that big spot where it's okay. The pinch hitter,
[36:20] Speaker 4: the right-handed pinch hitter that gets deployed. Can he come
[36:23] Speaker 4: up big and it's going to be Sanchez or Vaughn
[36:26] Speaker 4: most likely to be able to come through, you know,
[36:29] Speaker 4: in that spot, like you said, Peter, like there's not
[36:31] Speaker 4: going to be a lot of opportunities. to probably drive
[36:34] Speaker 4: in runs. And the few that are, like Dave Roberts
[36:36] Speaker 4: is going to make sure that the odds are stacked
[36:39] Speaker 4: against the Brewers in that spot. And they'll probably have
[36:41] Speaker 4: to counter with one of their two righties. You could
[36:44] Speaker 4: say Laura as well, but I'm going to say two
[36:46] Speaker 4: righties off the bench and Gary and Vaughn. And I
[36:50] Speaker 4: think those two guys are going to come up in
[36:51] Speaker 4: some pretty big spots at a certain point inevitably. And
[36:55] Speaker 4: it's just going to come down to can they actually
[36:57] Speaker 4: come through in one of the more difficult spots of
[36:59] Speaker 4: probably their career.
[37:00] Speaker 3: Podcast Pete, what's up?
[37:03] Speaker 6: Something I wanted to bring up as context, because I
[37:05] Speaker 6: think I don't know if this gets lost, but I
[37:08] Speaker 6: do think it's really interesting is the fact that the
[37:09] Speaker 6: Brewers didn't have Mizorowski last championship series like they did.
[37:14] Speaker 6: They had Mizorowski and he pitched incredible against the Dodgers
[37:18] Speaker 6: last championship series. But I think something we forget is
[37:21] Speaker 6: that Jacob Mizorowski became Jacob Mizorowski in the twenty twenty
[37:25] Speaker 6: five playoffs. That was when he really started throwing 104, like,
[37:29] Speaker 6: you know, sitting 102 above and blowing the doors off
[37:33] Speaker 6: of people. And last championship series, it was opener to
[37:39] Speaker 6: Quinn Priester, Freddie Peralta start opener. Ashby gets cooked in
[37:45] Speaker 6: the first. You bring in Mizorowski and he gives you
[37:47] Speaker 6: five innings of one earn run ball with nine Ks.
[37:51] Speaker 6: And then in a season saving game, you're giving the
[37:53] Speaker 6: ball to Jose Quintana. who was a Colorado Rocky this year.
[37:58] Speaker 6: Like it, I don't mean that to really disparage them.
[38:02] Speaker 6: And at the same time I talked to Peter before,
[38:04] Speaker 6: cause I'm on the same page as Peter. I'm a, I'm,
[38:07] Speaker 6: I don't run a simulation a hundred thousand times, but
[38:10] Speaker 6: I ran it 10 times.
[38:12] Speaker 2: In my head. I think the Dodgers win most of them.
[38:16] Speaker 6: But I do think it's really interesting context that this
[38:18] Speaker 6: is a way better Brewers team the last year. They
[38:22] Speaker 6: weren't giving like cleanup at bats to Isaac Collins this year.
[38:25] Speaker 6: And yeah, I think we kind of lose the fact
[38:28] Speaker 6: that the Brewers didn't have the, you know, the unanimous
[38:33] Speaker 6: and outside young on their team.
[38:35] Speaker 2: But here's the issue. Here's the issue.
[38:37] Speaker 3: The Dodgers are better than they were last year too.
[38:40] Speaker 3: This is the best team I've ever seen. I mean,
[38:42] Speaker 3: the Dodgers didn't have scuba last year.
[38:44] Speaker 6: And the scuba wrinkle is interesting, but when you have Otani,
[38:47] Speaker 6: who's clearly not Otani, I don't know if I'd say
[38:51] Speaker 6: they're better.
[38:52] Speaker 3: I think the bullpen is better. And having scuba, I think, over... And.
[38:57] Speaker 2: Also, we have no idea. Like, Otani could be great
[38:59] Speaker 2: in this series.
[39:00] Speaker 1: You know what I mean? So it's like, I agree.
[39:02] Speaker 1: Otani K-10 in the clincher in the CS. to go
[39:04] Speaker 1: along with his three homers i'm just not sure we're
[39:06] Speaker 1: getting that game he is a.
[39:08] Speaker 3: Pretty good player he's decent he's all right he's also
[39:11] Speaker 3: fast yeah but i guess do you guys agree with
[39:14] Speaker 3: disagree with that do you think this year's dodgers team
[39:16] Speaker 3: is worse than last year do you think it's.
[39:18] Speaker 2: Equal what um i was surprised.
[39:20] Speaker 1: I think it's kind of a wash really okay i
[39:22] Speaker 1: think it's a wash too i think the pendulum swings
[39:24] Speaker 1: in a whole bunch of different directions to your point
[39:26] Speaker 1: i think the bullpen is just objectively better but i
[39:28] Speaker 1: think the rotation probably holds serve um and i think
[39:33] Speaker 1: the lineup is probably the same if not a little
[39:37] Speaker 1: worse with the way otani's swinging it right now.
[39:39] Speaker 3: Yeah i think the lineup is slightly worse i think
[39:41] Speaker 3: the starting rotation is better and i think the bullpen
[39:43] Speaker 3: is better creating a better team, but I could see
[39:47] Speaker 3: it being a wash. I definitely agree with Peyton that
[39:49] Speaker 3: the Brewers are better. The Brewers are amazing. Like last
[39:52] Speaker 3: year going into the playoffs, I thought the Brewers were
[39:53] Speaker 3: very good and I thought they'd give them somewhat of
[39:56] Speaker 3: a fight, but I was very confident the Dodgers were
[39:58] Speaker 3: going to win this time around. I'm pretty confident that
[40:01] Speaker 3: Dodgers are going to win, which is a testament to
[40:04] Speaker 3: Milwaukee when I already think the Dodgers are a little
[40:06] Speaker 3: bit better than they were last year.
[40:08] Speaker 4: And just looking at the performers from last year, It
[40:11] Speaker 4: is the wild part is that, I mean, there was
[40:14] Speaker 4: Will Smith that went nuts in that series.
[40:16] Speaker 2: He was six for 15, but like Mookie bats was brutal.
[40:22] Speaker 2: He didn't hit.
[40:23] Speaker 4: Tommy Edmond was one of their best hitters in that series.
[40:26] Speaker 4: And of course, Freddie Freeman just, just did his thing
[40:28] Speaker 4: for the most part in that series. But, and of course,
[40:30] Speaker 4: Kiki Hernandez has never had a bad playoff series ever.
[40:32] Speaker 4: I don't think so. But when you go and look
[40:35] Speaker 4: at the Brewers bats, that is the biggest takeaway for me.
[40:38] Speaker 4: And I just don't think, I don't think they can
[40:41] Speaker 4: be nearly as bad as they were in the series.
[40:44] Speaker 4: I knew they didn't hit, but did you know that
[40:46] Speaker 4: it was 118, 191, 193 on the slash line for
[40:50] Speaker 4: the Brewers in that series?
[40:51] Speaker 2: A 384 OPS.
[40:54] Speaker 4: I know they got swept, so they got a long
[40:56] Speaker 4: way to make up to go from being swept to
[40:58] Speaker 4: winning a series if we're trying to compare these two teams.
[41:01] Speaker 4: But holy shit. I mean, they were atrocious offensively and
[41:06] Speaker 4: their pitching's going to be better.
[41:07] Speaker 2: So you know that they're going to hit better.
[41:09] Speaker 4: Cause they quite literally can't hit worse and they're going
[41:12] Speaker 4: to throw the ball better. That makes me confident that
[41:14] Speaker 4: this is going to be a tight, tighter series. But
[41:17] Speaker 4: to your point though, there's so much working in the.
[41:21] Speaker 2: Favor of the Dodgers.
[41:22] Speaker 4: And even if the team is a wash that last year,
[41:25] Speaker 4: they swept them convincingly. So a wash would mean that
[41:28] Speaker 4: they still have to make up, you know, four games here.
[41:32] Speaker 4: It's going to be a very tall task. Uh, even
[41:35] Speaker 4: if we're saying that the Dodgers team is, is the
[41:38] Speaker 4: same and the Brewers team is better.
[41:39] Speaker 2: Is it four games better? I don't know.
[41:42] Speaker 3: And can I be honest? I don't know if I
[41:44] Speaker 3: could just totally say that the Brewers are going to
[41:46] Speaker 3: hit way better this time around.
[41:48] Speaker 2: I didn't say way better.
[41:49] Speaker 4: They just, I don't think that they will OPS three 84.
[41:51] Speaker 2: That's my hot. That's fair.
[41:53] Speaker 3: But if I set the OPS line for the Brewers
[41:55] Speaker 3: in the series at five 50, where would you go?
[41:59] Speaker 2: And it's not even their fault.
[42:01] Speaker 3: We're going to talk about Tarek Skubal as one of
[42:04] Speaker 3: the best pitchers we've ever seen with our own two eyes.
[42:07] Speaker 3: Then we're going to talk about Yoshinobu Yamamoto as a
[42:10] Speaker 3: first ballot Hall of Famer, one of the greatest pitchers
[42:12] Speaker 3: we've ever seen with our two eyes.
[42:13] Speaker 2: Death being pointed at Earth, he's number one. And then
[42:16] Speaker 2: Blake Snell, it's.
[42:17] Speaker 3: Like, ah, he walks guys sometimes.
[42:22] Speaker 2: He's still Blake Snell. And then Tyler glass.
[42:25] Speaker 3: Now he walked five and gave up a hit. They
[42:30] Speaker 3: didn't piece him. He just walked guys. Does he have
[42:33] Speaker 3: a better start this time around? And then the daughter's bullpen.
[42:36] Speaker 3: We haven't even talked about Brock Stewart. Dude's disgusting.
[42:41] Speaker 2: They have so many guys.
[42:42] Speaker 3: Against any offense. This is an overwhelming pitching staff. The
[42:47] Speaker 3: greatest pitching staff ever assembled. It's the greatest pitching staff
[42:52] Speaker 3: ever assembled.
[42:54] Speaker 2: What about that Oreo staff where everyone won like 40 games?
[42:57] Speaker 1: Yeah, they had 420 game winners. That was Jim Palmer,
[43:01] Speaker 1: Dave McNally, Mike Cuellar, Pat Dobson. 420 game winners.
[43:06] Speaker 2: First of all, shout out you ball doers. Second of all,
[43:08] Speaker 2: I'm still taking the Dodgers. I do circle back.
[43:14] Speaker 4: I circle back to the original point that I made
[43:18] Speaker 4: there too because the big differentiator and what Peter just
[43:22] Speaker 4: laid out is what Scooble and glass. Now do we get,
[43:25] Speaker 4: because I do think if you get the Scooble.
[43:28] Speaker 2: And glass or excuse me, the Snell and glass. Now
[43:30] Speaker 2: you get the Snell and glass.
[43:31] Speaker 4: Now that you got in their last starts, each of them,
[43:34] Speaker 4: I think this series swings can swing back into the
[43:37] Speaker 4: Brewers favor in those two games. Cause I think the
[43:39] Speaker 4: Brewers will make them pay for that a little bit more.
[43:42] Speaker 4: And I also think you're getting to the bullpen that
[43:44] Speaker 4: early in a seven game set could have some more
[43:46] Speaker 4: repercussions down the line. If the Brewers are able to
[43:48] Speaker 4: push this series into game six or, or, or later.
[43:51] Speaker 4: So yeah, But nothing would surprise me if both of
[43:55] Speaker 4: those guys were in their Cy Young caliber form as well.
[43:59] Speaker 4: Those are the two variables, though, that I look at.
[44:01] Speaker 4: I don't look at Scooble and Yoshinobu.
[44:04] Speaker 2: Yamamoto as much of a variable there. Even Miz. Miz
[44:07] Speaker 2: needs to be better than he was in his last start, too.
[44:09] Speaker 4: But the fact that you're going to get the unanimous
[44:11] Speaker 4: Cy Young winner, as Peyton alluded to, multiple times in
[44:14] Speaker 4: the series potentially, is a huge, huge difference maker for
[44:17] Speaker 4: this Brewers team.
[44:19] Speaker 3: So I was thinking about those matchups that you were
[44:21] Speaker 3: just saying, Arm, outside of the bullpen games versus the
[44:26] Speaker 3: Snell and Glassdown. When I just think about Scooble versus
[44:30] Speaker 3: Miz and Yamamoto versus Henderson. And in my brain, I
[44:35] Speaker 3: go daughters win three of four. If you had the Miz,
[44:38] Speaker 3: Miz gets one of them against Scooble. I think Yamamoto
[44:42] Speaker 3: is going to win two of his starts. The daughters
[44:44] Speaker 3: are 10 and one in the playoffs with him. And
[44:46] Speaker 3: he's dominated the brewers. I have no reason to ever
[44:49] Speaker 3: go against him as much as I love Logan Henderson,
[44:52] Speaker 3: which means you have to get one of Scooble or
[44:56] Speaker 3: excuse me, Snell. We're doing the same thing. Snell or
[44:59] Speaker 3: glass now to have a vintage, one of their level starts.
[45:04] Speaker 3: That seems likely to me, which is why I got
[45:07] Speaker 3: Dodgers in six.
[45:08] Speaker 1: Okay.
[45:09] Speaker 3: Dodgers maybe in five.
[45:10] Speaker 2: I have the same opinion as Peter.
[45:12] Speaker 6: I said Dodgers in six, but I guess I look
[45:15] Speaker 6: at the Brewers more glass half full than glass half empty.
[45:19] Speaker 6: And a big reason why I think the Brewers can
[45:21] Speaker 6: make it at least a way more competitive series is... One,
[45:25] Speaker 6: everything we went over, but another thing, too, is I
[45:27] Speaker 6: just really don't think the Dodgers can have another series
[45:30] Speaker 6: where they hold a team to four for 46 with
[45:33] Speaker 6: men on base and one for 24 with runners in
[45:35] Speaker 6: scoring position.
[45:36] Speaker 2: Just the way baseball bounces, I just don't think that's possible.
[45:39] Speaker 2: And I think it could be a situation like the
[45:41] Speaker 2: Mets series two years ago where the Dodgers.
[45:45] Speaker 6: convincingly win four games, but then kind of get boat
[45:47] Speaker 6: raced into them.
[45:49] Speaker 3: Good to see that.
[45:50] Speaker 6: And I just don't know if the Dodgers staff, even listen,
[45:53] Speaker 6: that's a testament to the Dodgers staff. Peter mentioned it,
[45:56] Speaker 6: you know, even though maybe the numbers weren't there, if
[45:57] Speaker 6: you look at it from a raw talent perspective and
[45:59] Speaker 6: names perspective, a stuff perspective, it is one of the
[46:02] Speaker 6: craziest staffs of all time. And they, you know, lock
[46:06] Speaker 6: in with Ronald's scoring position. I just don't know if
[46:08] Speaker 6: they can maintain that level of dominance against a way
[46:11] Speaker 6: more complete team than the atlanta what atlanta showed yes yeah.
[46:17] Speaker 3: How much better do you guys think that the brewers
[46:19] Speaker 3: offense is over atlanta's.
[46:22] Speaker 6: Well better i don't like yeah i would say better
[46:25] Speaker 6: just because atlanta's atlanta really wasn't clicking yeah like yes.
[46:30] Speaker 3: I mean it's hard to click against the dodgers that's
[46:32] Speaker 3: kind of my point it's just so hard to click
[46:35] Speaker 3: when you got school freaking yamamoto snell glass now and
[46:38] Speaker 3: the dodgers bullpen it's i don't know how anybody.
[46:40] Speaker 1: Hits them But also Acuna, Olsen, Riley and Baldwin all
[46:45] Speaker 1: performed in like astonishingly below expectations, which, you know, I
[46:50] Speaker 1: just don't think that happens to Milwaukee. I'll give you
[46:52] Speaker 1: my pick and then arm you can make yours because
[46:54] Speaker 1: Peter and Peyton both have Dodgers and six. I go
[46:57] Speaker 1: Brewers and seven. The reason I do that is because
[47:01] Speaker 1: I refuse to believe that they are the death beam
[47:05] Speaker 1: and they're unbeatable. And I think that this is the
[47:07] Speaker 1: best team that the Dodgers in this dynasty have taken on.
[47:11] Speaker 1: And if this team can't beat them, then I don't
[47:14] Speaker 1: think anybody can. And obviously that creates a whole bunch
[47:18] Speaker 1: of different issues for Major League Baseball pushing forward. But
[47:21] Speaker 1: I like to believe in the fact that any team
[47:25] Speaker 1: can beat any team on any given night in the
[47:27] Speaker 1: regular season. And when you get into October, anything can happen.
[47:31] Speaker 1: So for the sake of randomness in the sport we love,
[47:34] Speaker 1: give me Milwaukee in seven.
[47:36] Speaker 3: Real quick before Arm goes, that point stuck with me.
[47:39] Speaker 3: I think you're right. I think this is the best
[47:41] Speaker 3: team that the Dodgers have faced in this three Pete
[47:46] Speaker 3: dynasty since 2024. I'm trying to think of other teams
[47:50] Speaker 3: and like, I'm not, I think the Brewers would beat
[47:54] Speaker 3: the 2025 Blue Jays.
[47:56] Speaker 2: I can't even compute that.
[47:58] Speaker 1: I don't know.
[47:58] Speaker 2: The Blue Jays were on a special run.
[48:01] Speaker 3: They were, but I mean, this Brewers team, I didn't
[48:03] Speaker 3: think they played all that well against the Padres and
[48:05] Speaker 3: we love the Padres and the Brewers beat them in four.
[48:09] Speaker 3: and they won 103 games this regular season they're amazing.
[48:13] Speaker 7: Yeah i don't know eileen i think on paper it's
[48:17] Speaker 7: just so hard to go any other direction than than
[48:20] Speaker 7: the uh than the dodgers but man and i don't
[48:24] Speaker 7: want to i don't want to be too contrarian as
[48:26] Speaker 7: well it's when you walk through it it's really difficult
[48:29] Speaker 7: to you know you start to look at the avenues
[48:31] Speaker 7: starting pitching matchup wise but Every things happen all the
[48:34] Speaker 7: time in the postseason.
[48:35] Speaker 2: Oh my gosh. Wasn't expecting that guy to get bombed.
[48:37] Speaker 2: And he does.
[48:38] Speaker 4: And I think the brewers do have the capability to
[48:40] Speaker 4: do that. I do want to shout out. I think
[48:41] Speaker 4: William Contreras is going to have a massive series. I
[48:44] Speaker 4: think he's going to have some big swings and put
[48:47] Speaker 4: together some, some big time at bats. And I think
[48:49] Speaker 4: the home field advantage in Milwaukee is, is going to
[48:53] Speaker 4: be felt a little bit roof or not.
[48:56] Speaker 2: I'm going to go Dodgers in seven though. And it's
[48:58] Speaker 2: going to be one of the best series we've seen
[49:00] Speaker 2: in a while. Oh, I can't wait. It's going to
[49:02] Speaker 2: be the best.
[49:02] Speaker 1: All right. Peter and Peyton have Dodgers in six. RM
[49:06] Speaker 1: has Dodgers in seven. I have Brewers in seven. And
[49:08] Speaker 1: those are NLCS picks. We'll be going live on these
[49:12] Speaker 1: channels tomorrow after game five of the ALDS between the
[49:16] Speaker 1: Guardians and the White Sox in Cleveland. And then we'll

[49:22] Speaker 1: is going to get going on Monday but the NLCS
[49:25] Speaker 1: that gets going on Sunday between the Dodgers and the
[49:29] Speaker 1: Brewers should be Mizorowski and Skubal so damn excited.
