Colin gives his instant reaction to the Jaguars beating the Chiefs on Monday Night Football. He highlights the disparity in stats between the two teams and doesn’t know what to make of the Jaguars after their upset win, and argues that Mahomes was “magical” despite the loss. He pivots to the Dodgers win over the Phillies and explains that their talent in their batting order could overcome their weakness in the bullpen and if they somehow win a World Series it would be a masterpiece by manager Dave Roberts. [0:56] Speaker 1: Well instant reaction plus, I'm going to have some thoughts
[0:59] Speaker 1: on the Dodgers. When the Phillies Jags beat Kansas City
[1:03] Speaker 1: thirty one to twenty eight, but if you look at
[1:05] Speaker 1: the final stats, Kansas City had four hundred and sixty
[1:07] Speaker 1: five yards, three hundred and seven yards passing one time
[1:11] Speaker 1: of possession twenty five to seventeen first downs. You know,
[1:15] Speaker 1: Mahomes had a pick six and did not see the guy.
[1:18] Speaker 1: He threw a ball that he didn't see the defender,
[1:21] Speaker 1: So I give him a little bit of a pass
[1:23] Speaker 1: on that. I don't know what I think Kansas City's
[1:26] Speaker 1: really good. I don't think right now they're as consistent
[1:30] Speaker 1: as Detroit, but they have a better defense. I don't
[1:34] Speaker 1: think they have the consistent pass rush or pass protection
[1:38] Speaker 1: of Denver. They don't have the roster of Philly, and
[1:42] Speaker 1: they don't have the late game magic of Tampa. I
[1:47] Speaker 1: think Kansas City, outside of those teams, is the fourth
[1:49] Speaker 1: or fifth best team in the NFL. If they played
[1:52] Speaker 1: Green Bay tomorrow, green Bay's young, I wouldn't trust them.
[1:55] Speaker 1: I'd take Kansas City. Rams again got out played by
[2:00] Speaker 1: the Colts. They were lucky to win that game and
[2:02] Speaker 1: lost to the Niners. I don't know what to do
[2:04] Speaker 1: with the Jags. I don't think the Jags are better
[2:06] Speaker 1: than Kansas City. I don't think if they played again,
[2:09] Speaker 1: Mahomes would have a pick six and it was in Jacksonville,
[2:12] Speaker 1: which is not worth much, but it was worth something.
[2:16] Speaker 1: I really liked Kansas City tonight. I think, you know,
[2:21] Speaker 1: keep your eye on Burchard Smith. He played that Miami Hurricanes.
[2:26] Speaker 1: I think he was a seventh round pick for them.
[2:28] Speaker 1: Between Kelsey Worthy, Hollywood Brown, and Burchard Smith is emerging
[2:33] Speaker 1: as a real player for them. When Rashid Rice comes back,
[2:36] Speaker 1: Kansas City's going to have a really good receiving corre.
[2:38] Speaker 1: They passed for over three hundred yards tonight. I thought
[2:41] Speaker 1: Mahomes was magical. Twenty eight to thirty seven, three hundred
[2:44] Speaker 1: and seven yards, six rushing attempts, ten yards per rush.
[2:50] Speaker 1: I thought he was unbelievable. He had a bad pick six,
[2:53] Speaker 1: and you know he has to be their leading rusher.
[2:56] Speaker 1: It's not ideal. I don't think they're a super Bowl team,
[3:00] Speaker 1: but you know, again, there's not a great team in
[3:02] Speaker 1: this league right now. I'm doing the Herd hierarchy tomorrow.
[3:05] Speaker 1: I don't know what the hell to do with Jacksonville.
[3:08] Speaker 1: I don't know what to do with Seattle. I can't
[3:10] Speaker 1: put Seattle in and I think they're good. You know,
[3:13] Speaker 1: I got the Colts at ten. I got Buffalo at eight,
[3:16] Speaker 1: or nine. I'm not sure what to do with Buffalo.
[3:18] Speaker 1: I don't trust their defense. I don't have New England
[3:20] Speaker 1: in it, and they just beat Buffalo. I don't do standings.
[3:25] Speaker 1: Jacksonville's four and one, Kansas City is two and three.
[3:29] Speaker 1: I think Kansas City's better, I do. I think they're
[3:32] Speaker 1: the better team, and I think when they get Rashi Rice,
[3:34] Speaker 1: they'll take another jump up. I think Kansas City is
[3:37] Speaker 1: an old team. They're going to be built for October, November,
[3:41] Speaker 1: and December. It's just crazy right now. There's no great teams.
[3:45] Speaker 1: There's great coaches, there's great quarterbacks, there's great units. I
[3:48] Speaker 1: think the best unit in the league is the running
[3:51] Speaker 1: back room for the Lions and the offensive line for
[3:53] Speaker 1: the Lions. Offensively, Detroit is just a freaking handful, man.
[3:59] Speaker 1: They are just lowing people out and you have to now.
[4:03] Speaker 1: One of the things I've learned over the last couple
[4:05] Speaker 1: of years, as they've extended the schedule the seventeen games,
[4:08] Speaker 1: I think one of the things we have to all
[4:10] Speaker 1: come to terms with is you just can't count week one.
[4:12] Speaker 1: I mean, the Raiders beat the Patriots in Week one,
[4:15] Speaker 1: the Lions got smoked by Green Bay, it's just an
[4:19] Speaker 1: extension of preseason because nobody plays starters in the preseason,
[4:22] Speaker 1: so Week one is really teams like it's an extension
[4:25] Speaker 1: of the preseason. You can't. I mean, I had a winning,
[4:29] Speaker 1: blazing five. I don't know how I lucked into that.
[4:32] Speaker 1: But week two to now, I mean there's some obvious
[4:37] Speaker 1: I just think the season now is so long that
[4:40] Speaker 1: you're just gonna have bad home games. I thought Buffalo
[4:43] Speaker 1: last night just the fumbles early. I think Buffalo is
[4:45] Speaker 1: better than New England. I think they played them five times,
[4:47] Speaker 1: we beat them four to five times, and it beat
[4:49] Speaker 1: them last night at home. So you know, I watched
[4:54] Speaker 1: this game and it looked, you know, I thought it
[4:57] Speaker 1: would be a little lower scoring. I thought it was
[4:59] Speaker 1: wildly an entertaining you know, Trevor Lawrence. I was the
[5:02] Speaker 1: one of the first Trevor Lawrence fanboys. I saw him
[5:04] Speaker 1: in high school. I went to a camp in San
[5:06] Speaker 1: Diego and he was down there with all that wild hair,
[5:09] Speaker 1: and I came back on the air and I said, man,
[5:11] Speaker 1: I just saw one of the best high school quarterbacks
[5:13] Speaker 1: I've ever seen. He was insane, but he is man
[5:19] Speaker 1: fumbles fumble at the goal line bad interception. You know,
[5:23] Speaker 1: the pick six Mahomes did not see the defender. You know,
[5:27] Speaker 1: the timing and the spot of that interception by Trevor
[5:30] Speaker 1: Lawrence felt like it was worse and he's just worth
[5:33] Speaker 1: a couple of turnovers. It feels like in big spots.
[5:35] Speaker 1: But I will say is Jacksonville's problem isn't talent, it's
[5:44] Speaker 1: sort of belief. I mean, for them to travel cross
[5:46] Speaker 1: country and beat San Francisco, that's impressive. They had a
[5:49] Speaker 1: really good special team's day, So they're finding kind of
[5:52] Speaker 1: different ways to win. Kansas City. Give Trevor Lawrence credit
[5:57] Speaker 1: though in that final drive holy crow that he have
[6:00] Speaker 1: couple of darts and Kansas City was bringing heat and
[6:04] Speaker 1: spags was bringing like safety blitz and he escaped and
[6:09] Speaker 1: he almost fell down on that winning touchdown. It was
[6:12] Speaker 1: not artistic, but that throw to Michael Thomas up the
[6:17] Speaker 1: right sideline, that is as good a throw as Trevor
[6:20] Speaker 1: Lawrence has made as a professional quarterback. That was a
[6:25] Speaker 1: perfect throw. That was all time stuff. That's Eli Manning
[6:30] Speaker 1: to Mario Manningham and the Super Bowl when he fits
[6:32] Speaker 1: it in the bread basket, that throw by Trevor Lawrence
[6:35] Speaker 1: will go down as one of his great throws as
[6:37] Speaker 1: a pro to beat Kansas City. So, you know, I
[6:41] Speaker 1: know the records say that the Jags are a better team.
[6:43] Speaker 1: I'm not sure they are. You know, I don't think
[6:46] Speaker 1: New England's better than Buffalo. I just thought it was
[6:48] Speaker 1: a great night for them in a great win. So
[6:51] Speaker 1: I don't know what I'm gonna do with a hurt hierarchy.
[6:53] Speaker 1: I think Detroit's the best team in the league right now,
[6:56] Speaker 1: but there's an argument Tampa. Second. I thought Tampa beating
[7:00] Speaker 1: the Adole and Seattle is so impressive. Today's show is

[8:30] Speaker 1: So I got to talk about the Dodgers four to
[8:33] Speaker 1: three win over the Phillies. To take a two zero lead.
[8:37] Speaker 1: Winning games in Phillies not easy in so many ways.
[8:41] Speaker 1: It was such a beautiful win by the Dodgers. Blake Snell,
[8:44] Speaker 1: great starting pitching, I mean Snell was incredible, six innings,
[8:49] Speaker 1: nine strikeouts, didn't allow a run. Beautiful clutch performance by
[8:55] Speaker 1: Blake Snell. The fielding, they had two or three great plays.
[8:59] Speaker 1: Miguel who's a thirty six year old shortstop at third,
[9:04] Speaker 1: made an unbelievable play in the bottom of the sixth
[9:07] Speaker 1: inning to leap to the bag and beat the runner
[9:12] Speaker 1: to get the out at third. Just an incredible defensive play.
[9:16] Speaker 1: Clutch hitting by Will Smith and o'tani in a four
[9:18] Speaker 1: run seventh. But if you've never seen the Dodgers play,
[9:23] Speaker 1: and you know how much money they spend, it was
[9:25] Speaker 1: the classic Dodger win because Blake Trynan comes in and
[9:33] Speaker 1: he's an older reliever. They have struggled with their bullpen
[9:38] Speaker 1: all year and Trynon comes in, three hits, tour in
[9:43] Speaker 1: runs and the wheels come off, and I'm watching you,
[9:48] Speaker 1: I'm thinking it's the perfect Dodger win. Starting pitchings, unbelievable
[9:54] Speaker 1: clutch hitting, fantastic defense. And there wasn't a Dodger your
[10:00] Speaker 1: fan that felt good about that thing when they went
[10:03] Speaker 1: to the bullpen. And I keep saying this, I've never
[10:06] Speaker 1: seen a team of a bad bullpen win a World Series.
[10:09] Speaker 1: You seamheads that have encyclopedic knowledge of the sport. You
[10:13] Speaker 1: maybe you don't have to have great starting pitching. I mean,
[10:16] Speaker 1: there's a Kansas City Royals team years ago that won
[10:21] Speaker 1: a World Series, small market Kansas City that had a
[10:23] Speaker 1: great bullpen, but not great starting pitching. They were just
[10:26] Speaker 1: kind of an athletic team manufactured runs. The Dodgers do
[10:30] Speaker 1: so much well, and they're starting pitching now is really
[10:34] Speaker 1: really heating up and Milky bat monkey bets again getting
[10:39] Speaker 1: on base. Will Smith is back from the injury. Like there,
[10:42] Speaker 1: they are a great rock, a great batting order. But man,
[10:47] Speaker 1: when they go to that bullpen, they're Dodger fans. And
[10:51] Speaker 1: I've said this for years, nobody knows a team's bullpen
[10:56] Speaker 1: better than its fans. You know, a lot of times
[10:58] Speaker 1: the national play by play guys they come in and
[11:01] Speaker 1: they jump in for the big games. But if you
[11:04] Speaker 1: want to know if a team's bullpen is trustable, go
[11:06] Speaker 1: to a fan. Go to a diehard fan when they
[11:09] Speaker 1: go to the bullpen, and how that fan initially feels
[11:12] Speaker 1: will tell you the truth about that reliever. Because baseball
[11:15] Speaker 1: is a very complex sport. I mean, there's so many
[11:18] Speaker 1: elements to a baseball team like football, but I mean
[11:21] Speaker 1: just middle I mean even your bullpen. You've got your closer,
[11:24] Speaker 1: hopefully you've got a great closer, and then you've got
[11:26] Speaker 1: your setup guy, and then you've got middle relievers. So
[11:29] Speaker 1: even your bullpen is several narratives and stories. And I
[11:35] Speaker 1: know it started out as just a great pitching duel,
[11:40] Speaker 1: but it turned into a huge seventh inning for the Dodgers,
[11:43] Speaker 1: tremendous defense, Will Smith delivers, and I'm just watching the
[11:49] Speaker 1: bullpen unravel and you know it's Dave Roberts is like
[11:55] Speaker 1: Aaron Boone. He's a player's manager and he trusts his guys.
[12:00] Speaker 1: And you know, that's what they always say about Jim Harbaugh.
[12:02] Speaker 1: He just believes in his players. And Dan Campbell believes
[12:06] Speaker 1: in his players, same with Vrabel. Part of building a
[12:09] Speaker 1: great culture is this belief even with struggling players that
[12:13] Speaker 1: you've got their back. And I mean you can say
[12:16] Speaker 1: it's to a fault, but if the Dodgers win this
[12:19] Speaker 1: World Series, Dave Roberts will have earned it because tonight
[12:27] Speaker 1: the Dodgers did so many things at a high level.
[12:30] Speaker 1: It was beautiful baseball, fielding, starting, pitching, timely hitting. I mean,
[12:36] Speaker 1: it was just it was really just a masterpiece of
[12:40] Speaker 1: postseason baseball. Then they go to the bullpen and you're
[12:44] Speaker 1: white not calling it as a Dodger fan. So if
[12:50] Speaker 1: you've never seen a Dodger game, that sums up what
[12:52] Speaker 1: they can be at their best and their worst, all
[12:56] Speaker 1: within two and a half hours, right, But they get
[12:58] Speaker 1: out of it with a win. I thought Philadelphia would
[13:01] Speaker 1: probably find a way with a little bit better bullpen.
[13:04] Speaker 1: The Dodgers have so much talent. Just it's just the
[13:09] Speaker 1: architecture of the team is. You know, the Yankees spend
[13:13] Speaker 1: the money, but the Yankees are uneven. They're so home
[13:16] Speaker 1: run dependent. Now for Carrett Coal was healthy, maybe you'd
[13:19] Speaker 1: feel differently, But the Yankees don't play a lot of
[13:21] Speaker 1: small ball. They don't grind out the at bats. They
[13:24] Speaker 1: strike out too much. You know, the Dodgers do a
[13:27] Speaker 1: lot well, and so they've taken a two zero series
[13:30] Speaker 1: lead on the Philadelphia Phillies. And I'm going to now
[13:33] Speaker 1: spend the next fifteen minutes doing my herd hierarchy. It's
[13:37] Speaker 1: it's a mess right now. I don't even I can't
[13:40] Speaker 1: put Seattle in it. You know, you gotta win those
[13:42] Speaker 1: close games. You gotta win it home again San Francisco
[13:45] Speaker 1: or Tampa one, if not both. So I can't put
[13:48] Speaker 1: Seattle in it. I don't know what to do with
[13:50] Speaker 1: the Jags. I'm telling you, I love the Colts. I
[13:53] Speaker 1: love the Colts offensive line. I have to put the
[13:56] Speaker 1: Colts in it. I have to put Buffalo in it.
[14:00] Speaker 1: But Buffalo maybe eight? Do I put the Jags in
[14:05] Speaker 1: over the Rams? Really, Trevor Lawrence, Liam Cohen or Matt Stafford,
[14:09] Speaker 1: Sean McVay, if you had a one off, I don't
[14:12] Speaker 1: know if the Jags can make it. We'll see you tomorrow.
[14:16] Speaker 1: The volume. The FED has finally dropped interest rates, and
[14:20] Speaker 1: that's great news for American homeowners. Expenses have been a
[14:23] Speaker 1: major burden on families. Wages are flat and prices keep climbing,
[14:27] Speaker 1: and for many, the only way to make ends meet
[14:29] Speaker 1: is to lean on credit cards, but that cycle of
[14:32] Speaker 1: high interest debt makes it really really hard to stay
[14:34] Speaker 1: ahead for everybody. If you're a homeowner, call American Financing
[14:38] Speaker 1: right now. Interest rates have dropped. Many homeowners are seeing
[14:41] Speaker 1: options in the low fives, so compare that to credit
[14:44] Speaker 1: cards charging rates in the twenties are higher. There's an
[14:47] Speaker 1: easy path to see how you can finally put your
[14:49] Speaker 1: harder and equity to work for you. American Financing can
[14:52] Speaker 1: help you pay off that expensive debt, free up your
[14:54] Speaker 1: cash flow, keep your budget under control. Their salary based
[14:57] Speaker 1: mortgage consultants are saving customers an average of eight hundre
[15:00] Speaker 1: dollars a month, and if you get started today, you
[15:02] Speaker 1: may even be able to delay your next mortgage payment.
