[2:11] Speaker 4: and they take it to the fifty, and I mean
[2:12] Speaker 4: that tackle Josh Simmons running down the field to save
[2:16] Speaker 4: the game. I thought, if Kansas City scored there, now,
[2:19] Speaker 4: I don't know if they could slow down Philly they
[2:22] Speaker 4: had that time, But I mean, you just never know.
[2:24] Speaker 4: With Sakuon and like you said, some big playmakers, they
[2:26] Speaker 4: were just gonna have to win that game on Guyle toughness,
[2:28] Speaker 4: and it was gonna be if they had pulled that off.
[2:31] Speaker 4: Let's say Kelsey catches it or that doesn't happen and
[2:33] Speaker 4: they score just an incredible championship like metal type game
[2:37] Speaker 4: for them. But they don't have much right now. You know,
[2:40] Speaker 4: Worthy being hurt, Rice being suspended, You know that. I
[2:43] Speaker 4: thought Travis was having a good game until that moment.
[2:47] Speaker 4: Obviously Patrick missed you know Thornton earlier. Yeah, in that drive,
[2:51] Speaker 4: we ended up hitting him, which might have given them
[2:53] Speaker 4: a little more time. They wouldn't have to force it.
[2:55] Speaker 4: Let's face at Kansas City right now. I expected defensively,
[2:58] Speaker 4: they got shredded last game against her and and Hirts
[3:02] Speaker 4: treaded them in the Super Bowl, so I knew that
[3:04] Speaker 4: they were going to bring it defensively. But offensively, I mean,
[3:06] Speaker 4: they got an old Kelsey Hollywood Brown. I mean their
[3:11] Speaker 4: running backs are okay, they run hard, but are they
[3:14] Speaker 4: starting on most of the teams in the league.
[3:16] Speaker 2: I mean, I think they'll be fine when they get
[3:18] Speaker 2: Rashi Rice back in four weeks. I think they will.
[3:20] Speaker 2: I think they'll find their way. Denver losing the game
[3:22] Speaker 2: they should have won today, that's a huge break for them.
[3:25] Speaker 2: So I mean that that game ends up being big
[3:28] Speaker 2: for them big.
[3:30] Speaker 4: Well, in Monday night football, someone has to lose between
[3:32] Speaker 4: the Chargers and so you're not they're not running away
[3:35] Speaker 4: with you, I guess yeah.

[3:37] Speaker 2: Feel and you know, Chiefs fans don't want to hear this,
[3:40] Speaker 2: but I felt like Sirianni and Jalen Hurts. Sirianni was
[3:45] Speaker 2: coaching with a lot of confidence, like when they when
[3:48] Speaker 2: they took a lead, his whole thing was, guys, we
[3:51] Speaker 2: can just ground this out. Let's not take any big
[3:54] Speaker 2: I mean, they didn't take one big shot down the
[3:55] Speaker 2: field to Devonte Smith and.
[3:57] Speaker 3: They hit on that.
[3:58] Speaker 2: But I felt Philadelphia's kind of felt like, Okay, we're
[4:01] Speaker 2: on the road, we have the better roster, We're.
[4:05] Speaker 3: Gonna grind these guys out in the second half.
[4:07] Speaker 2: And it was just one of those things, especially after
[4:09] Speaker 2: that interception on the deflection. And let's be honest, if
[4:13] Speaker 2: you have a great coach, great coordinator, spags and a
[4:16] Speaker 2: great quarterback at home after you were humiliated in the
[4:20] Speaker 2: Super Bowl, the game was gonna be close.
[4:21] Speaker 3: The line was one and a half. It was I
[4:24] Speaker 3: said it Friday on the Herd.
[4:25] Speaker 2: I'm like, guys, it's gonna be a close game late
[4:28] Speaker 2: and Philadelphia will situationally get a key first down or
[4:31] Speaker 2: four and win. So the game kind of looked like
[4:34] Speaker 2: I thought, But I thought Philadelphia I felt in the
[4:37] Speaker 2: fourth quarter John, they felt they had the game. It's
[4:40] Speaker 2: like they brought in a closer in baseball and they
[4:42] Speaker 2: kind of I mean, how many times did they use
[4:44] Speaker 2: the tush push today?
[4:46] Speaker 3: Seven nine, a lot? Well.
[4:50] Speaker 4: Brady mentioned it though on the goal line play where
[4:53] Speaker 4: the two guys jumped off side, they didn't call it,
[4:55] Speaker 4: and that that obviously was a huge play in the game.
[4:58] Speaker 4: I do think the Chiefs they everything they have, they
[5:01] Speaker 4: just don't have much right now. And one elephant in
[5:04] Speaker 4: the room is Kelsey's old Now. Now, granted he was
[5:07] Speaker 4: having a good game relative to what he's been in
[5:10] Speaker 4: the regular season, but man, that play where the dude
[5:13] Speaker 4: picks it off and takes it to midfield and they
[5:14] Speaker 4: end up scoring was a crippling moment for a team.
[5:18] Speaker 4: This is not the twenty nineteen, twenty twenty twenty twenty
[5:21] Speaker 4: one version they cannot score against. Let's face, they're playing
[5:24] Speaker 4: Vic Fangio, who's one of, if not the best defensive
[5:27] Speaker 4: coordinator in the league, with just a really good defensive personnel, right,
[5:31] Speaker 4: I mean, you see Jordan Davis looks. Look how that
[5:34] Speaker 4: guy physically looks.
[5:35] Speaker 3: Fantastic.
[5:36] Speaker 4: Obviously, Jalen Carter's one of the best players. You know,
[5:39] Speaker 4: Vaughn all their you know, defensive backs. Mitchell's a really
[5:43] Speaker 4: good player. So that's a tough loss. I mean, that's
[5:47] Speaker 4: that's pretty devastating because you threw everything you had, Your
[5:50] Speaker 4: coaching was at a high level, your quarterback was just
[5:53] Speaker 4: trying to will his way, and you're just still not
[5:56] Speaker 4: good enough. Right, So you've had two straight weeks, right,
[5:59] Speaker 4: you know, the Eagles are going to be one of
[6:00] Speaker 4: the best teams in the league all season long. The
[6:02] Speaker 4: Chargers obviously, if Herbert's gonna play at that level, they're
[6:05] Speaker 4: gonna be an awesome team. And you've lost two games, right,
[6:08] Speaker 4: it gets really good teams. That's where it's like, you
[6:10] Speaker 4: hope once these guys come back Rice off the suspension.
[6:12] Speaker 4: You know, if Worthy can get healthy, you're just gonna
[6:15] Speaker 4: have to win these games off. Guyle in toughness, but
[6:17] Speaker 4: eventually you kind of run out of gas, right.
[6:18] Speaker 2: And Denver's got a better roster. But Denver gave that
[6:21] Speaker 2: game away late today against Indy. Three dumb penalties in
[6:24] Speaker 2: the last four to twenty. So again you get a
[6:26] Speaker 2: break in division, and the Chargers probably beat the Raiders,
[6:30] Speaker 2: So you know, I still contend they're gonna be a
[6:32] Speaker 2: wild card team in this division. They'll be fine. A
[6:36] Speaker 2: game that was hard to watch, but I watched almost
[6:39] Speaker 2: all of it. Detroit fifty two Bears twenty one. Outside
[6:43] Speaker 2: of Roma Dunze for the Bears, not much worked, you
[6:48] Speaker 2: know I was. And by the way, the Lions they
[6:51] Speaker 2: go for it so not kicking field goals. That's just
[6:54] Speaker 2: who they are. That's Dan Campbell. So you got to
[6:57] Speaker 2: get over that Bears fan. But I got to tell
[6:59] Speaker 2: you I watched that game today and after the first drive,
[7:03] Speaker 2: take the first drive out last couple of weeks, Bears
[7:06] Speaker 2: have look fine. It's a timing offense and Caleb Williams
[7:09] Speaker 2: does not appear to see the field once he's off script,
[7:13] Speaker 2: and it just becomes ad libbing. It's backyard football. I
[7:17] Speaker 2: don't think this is gonna work. I don't it's the
[7:21] Speaker 2: second week in a row, the first series. Again, they
[7:24] Speaker 2: dial up. They got about eight to ten plays. It
[7:27] Speaker 2: looks fine, it's very tight, but how many plays can
[7:31] Speaker 2: you script? And then they go off script and he
[7:34] Speaker 2: clearly Caleb doesn't see the field particularly well. And then
[7:39] Speaker 2: then he's flushed out of the pocket.
[7:41] Speaker 3: He made six seven, eight throws today.
[7:44] Speaker 2: Rolling to his right. He just kind of threw it
[7:46] Speaker 2: up for grabs. A couple were picked, a couple were caught.
[7:51] Speaker 2: But you know, I'm I'm looking at my notes here
[7:55] Speaker 2: and yeah, I just keep writing their ad libbing again
[7:58] Speaker 2: ad libbing. I mean, there's just nothing about it except
[8:04] Speaker 2: Roma Dunza. You'd feel good by the way Luther Burden
[8:06] Speaker 2: Missouri did he play? Did he suit up Loveland? The
[8:10] Speaker 2: kid from Michigan Courtland Loveland or is it Loveland Cortland.
[8:14] Speaker 2: I forget the Michigan the Michigan tidy. He had no catches,
[8:19] Speaker 2: so I mean, like zero. They have weapons, They've drafted
[8:22] Speaker 2: good players, they can't get them the ball. I think
[8:25] Speaker 2: this thing could go sideways real fast.
[8:28] Speaker 4: Do you know what I wrote down? I watched two
[8:30] Speaker 4: documentaries in the last week, Billy Joel and Charlie Sheen
[8:33] Speaker 4: and whenever they get married, you could see the divorce
[8:35] Speaker 4: coming from a mile away, especially with Charlie. And in
[8:39] Speaker 4: this situation, I've been saying that from this doesn't just
[8:42] Speaker 4: speak for quarterbacks in the NFL. You could be a
[8:44] Speaker 4: talented player and Caleb, to me is a major question mark.
[8:47] Speaker 4: But we have seen Hall of Fame guys get with
[8:50] Speaker 4: the wrong coordinator and it not work. Scheme is in basketball,
[8:54] Speaker 4: whatever plays you're running, if I'm a great player, you're
[8:57] Speaker 4: gonna make it work, and I'm not going anywhere that's
[9:00] Speaker 4: not the way football works. Then you factor in. Like
[9:02] Speaker 4: you said, there was an interception he threw today, there
[9:05] Speaker 4: was classic USC He rolls to his right, hero Ball
[9:09] Speaker 4: throws an awful pick. It leads to a touchdown. I
[9:12] Speaker 4: can't remember if it was fourteen fourteen at the time
[9:13] Speaker 4: or twenty one to fourteen, but it was one of
[9:16] Speaker 4: those plays that show Ben Johnson getting really mad. That
[9:19] Speaker 4: cannot happen. Right. Obviously, there are gonna be plays where
[9:22] Speaker 4: nothing's there. The Lions are gonna be hard to beat
[9:24] Speaker 4: at home. I like the Lions a lot today in
[9:26] Speaker 4: this game, but I didn't expect to see fifty to
[9:29] Speaker 4: twenty or whatever the final score was. But this is
[9:32] Speaker 4: a this is a marriage that is not meant to be.
[9:35] Speaker 4: Their styles do not mesh up. And we have seen
[9:38] Speaker 4: time and time again that these coordinators with quarterbacks when
[9:41] Speaker 4: I do not pick you. Here's the thing with with
[9:43] Speaker 4: bo Nicks, who threw a bad second half pick. He
[9:46] Speaker 4: played an excellent first half. But Sean Payton is tied
[9:50] Speaker 4: to him. That's his guy. He loved him right. There
[9:52] Speaker 4: is a like that power of when I draft you,
[9:56] Speaker 4: when I believed in you from before you become an
[9:58] Speaker 4: NFL player, is power that is not Ben Johnson took
[10:02] Speaker 4: this job, maybe intrigued by Caleb, but you see through
[10:04] Speaker 4: two weeks his his mannerisms on the sideline with his face,
[10:08] Speaker 4: and it's that this was an Eberflu's game. I mean,
[10:11] Speaker 4: this was pretty embarrass It's not all Caleb's fault. This
[10:14] Speaker 4: was not like he was worse last week. But this
[10:17] Speaker 4: is not this This the Bears are a joke.

[10:20] Speaker 4: You and I've been talking the organization I wrote down
[10:22] Speaker 4: Ryan Poles is this is this roster the most overrated
[10:25] Speaker 4: roster we've heard in that last couple of years. Listen,
[10:28] Speaker 4: the Lions are missing players. From last year and that
[10:31] Speaker 4: looked like Georgia playing col Pally or something.
[10:34] Speaker 3: It was crazy.
[10:34] Speaker 2: Yeah, and it's funny. I remember before Caleb got drafted.
[10:40] Speaker 2: A good friend of mine is Steve Kaime, and I said,
[10:43] Speaker 2: you know, what do you make? Could jump it in
[10:44] Speaker 2: the stands for Caleb Williams with his mom and crying
[10:47] Speaker 2: and the fingernail polish and Steve's not a real judgmental guy.
[10:51] Speaker 2: And Steve was like, don't love it. I'm not to
[10:54] Speaker 2: see he goes. You know, if a guy is talented,
[10:56] Speaker 2: he's telling he goes. But he's a very emotional player
[11:00] Speaker 2: and he goes, you know, And Steve has taught me
[11:03] Speaker 2: this through the years, Like quarterback is one of those
[11:06] Speaker 2: positions where you really need somebody that's even keel and
[11:09] Speaker 2: puts out fires. Football is an incredibly emotional game, and
[11:13] Speaker 2: as your teammates are getting emotional and the coaches are
[11:15] Speaker 2: getting emotional, you know, when you're on Tom Brady love
[11:18] Speaker 2: to celebrate, but in the moment of a game, Tom
[11:21] Speaker 2: was very even keel and Caleb's Averia. You can see
[11:24] Speaker 2: his sideline demeanor. He plays with a ton of emotion
[11:30] Speaker 2: and he gets really amped up.
[11:33] Speaker 3: He also lose.
[11:34] Speaker 2: I think sometimes Caleb loses confidence when I watch him
[11:37] Speaker 2: like his his his accuracy is all over the map.
[11:43] Speaker 2: So that feels like a confidence and mechanics issue. And
[11:47] Speaker 2: I don't know, I just look at it, and I
[11:49] Speaker 2: think this is a this coach wants a certain quarterback stylistically,
[11:55] Speaker 2: probably much more like Sean Payton, where you can augment
[11:59] Speaker 2: the timing game with I mean bow Nicks and Sean
[12:03] Speaker 2: bow moves. They move the pocket a lot for bo Nicks,
[12:06] Speaker 2: as you should. But there's I sat there today and
[12:09] Speaker 2: my notes are all negative on Chicago.
[12:15] Speaker 4: There was a couple plays today and I'll take the
[12:18] Speaker 4: l on Jalen Hurts. I never thought in a million
[12:20] Speaker 4: years he would be a functional NFL quarterback, let alone
[12:23] Speaker 4: a super Bowl champion. And we can debate where he
[12:26] Speaker 4: ranks or whatever, but there were a couple of plays
[12:27] Speaker 4: today where Spags brings the entire house and he sits
[12:30] Speaker 4: in there to the last second and he throws his
[12:33] Speaker 4: one on one matchup and he's gonna get just mollywopped,
[12:36] Speaker 4: and one he hit the smith and I think he
[12:38] Speaker 4: missed another one. But it's just this guy just kind
[12:40] Speaker 4: of knows what he's doing. And he's an athletic ad
[12:43] Speaker 4: lib and theory, but he can play in big spots. Caleb.
[12:46] Speaker 4: When sometimes there's pressure and there's nothing you can do,
[12:49] Speaker 4: you gotta kind of scramble. There are times where it's
[12:51] Speaker 4: just like he's just taken off. For years, Mark Schlarath
[12:55] Speaker 4: was one of the only guys saying everyone acts like
[12:57] Speaker 4: these offensive linemen and Seattle suck. Maybe some of it.
[13:00] Speaker 4: Russell Wilson, right, and remember he would just run into
[13:02] Speaker 4: sacks and you watch him today when that head goes
[13:05] Speaker 4: down and you just scramble into guys that is quarterback
[13:08] Speaker 4: one on one that the coaches hate, right head down
[13:12] Speaker 4: and his head goes down, and then he moves all
[13:15] Speaker 4: the time like Mahomes, whether he misses or makes the throw,
[13:18] Speaker 4: his head's always up moving around Jalen Hurts as even Kyler.
[13:22] Speaker 4: Kyler's head is up now he scrambles, probably sometimes at
[13:25] Speaker 4: the wrong time, but his head's up looking to throw.
[13:29] Speaker 4: Caleb just looks in the crown and then it becomes
[13:32] Speaker 4: I this there's no way this is sustainable. Obviously you
[13:36] Speaker 4: start losing like this. But Ben Johnson's not going down with.
[13:40] Speaker 1: The ship with this guy.
[13:41] Speaker 4: Why because Sean Payton will go down with bo Nicks, right,
[13:45] Speaker 4: Andy Reid will go down with Mahomes. I'm not comparing
[13:47] Speaker 4: those two situations, but my point is I'm all in
[13:50] Speaker 4: on this guy. You can't convince me after a couple
[13:52] Speaker 4: of weeks that Ben Johnson is going to be all
[13:54] Speaker 4: in with this guy for seventeen games.
[13:57] Speaker 1: It's not possible.
[13:57] Speaker 4: And they're clearly the worst team in there. Ackers looked
[14:00] Speaker 4: like a juggernaut. We saw the Lions turned out they're
[14:02] Speaker 4: not as bad. Why because the Packers are really good
[14:05] Speaker 4: and we'll see how Minnesota looks tonight. But clearly Minnesota's
[14:08] Speaker 4: just they just beat the Bears, So I mean, they're
[14:10] Speaker 4: just a better operation. The Bears are in major trouble. Guy.
[14:13] Speaker 2: Yeah, and I there's a reason in the preseason that
[14:17] Speaker 2: Ben Johnson made a point. I mean, remember we came
[14:20] Speaker 2: on this podcast and we said he was glowing with
[14:25] Speaker 2: Tyson beajon. He's so smart, man, He's having a great camp.
[14:30] Speaker 2: About a week later, they signed him to a very
[14:32] Speaker 2: big backup contract. I think Caleb gets one more start
[14:37] Speaker 2: and if it's ugly, can Ben come out and go listen,
[14:42] Speaker 2: Caleb's gonna be fine.

[14:45] Speaker 2: But he needs a week off, he needs to get
[14:49] Speaker 2: some stuff right. We need to figure out a way
[14:53] Speaker 2: to get this ship going. I could see one more start,

[15:17] Speaker 4: Bears going to do? Lose more games? I mean, what
[15:20] Speaker 4: are we talking about at this point? So yeah, I
[15:22] Speaker 4: would say moving forward, everything's on the table. And if
[15:25] Speaker 4: you're Ben Johnson, like you clearly don't care about feelings.

[15:28] Speaker 4: The one thing I didn't quite realize. He's wired.

[15:31] Speaker 4: He's not like a loosey, goosey offensive coach, you know,
[15:34] Speaker 4: like Kevin O'Connell, Sean McVay always smiling like he feels
[15:37] Speaker 4: more like a Shanahan Son like kind of angry, never
[15:40] Speaker 4: smiles like this. This is just it's way. I bet
[15:44] Speaker 4: against it. To jump from the jump. It's way ugler
[15:47] Speaker 4: than I thought. And today was like a referendum not
[15:50] Speaker 4: just on Caleb, the entire organization. I mean Ryan Poles the.
[15:54] Speaker 2: Last Earth I've watched Pennix. I would make a bet
