Colin’s top takes of the week. First, Colin is joined by Danny Parkins, host of “First Things First” on FS1. They dive straight into the MASSIVE gambling & match fixing scheme that ended in the arrest of Chauncey Billups, Terry Rozier and Damon Jones. They call it the “NBA’s Pete Rose” moment, and Danny argues Chauncey should be thrown out of the Hall of Fame if the allegations prove to be true (3:00). They discuss the world of underground gambling & the history of the intersection of the mafia, gambling and sports and Danny explains why the level of regulation in legal betting is what caused the players to be caught tanking their player props (11:00). They argue that these types of scandals will happen as long as the leagues are in bed with the sportsbook, but there’s no going back with the huge money involved, and it’s better to have props monitored and regulated rather than move underground. Danny argues that there’s a solid case to outlaw “under” player props (16:00). They also recount Victor Wembanyama’s absolutely insane 40 point performance against the best frontline in the league and debate whether he’s already the best player in the league at 21 years old (26:00). Then, Colin is joined by John Middlekauff, host of “3 and Out” to break down the absolutely insane 4th quarter comeback for the Denver Broncos over the New York Giants (35:15), debate whether the Chiefs have regained their status as the best team in the NFL (47:45) and Colin argues that Shohei Ohtani is the greatest athlete EVER (53:00). [0:01] Speaker 1: The volume.
[0:04] Speaker 2: Now it's time for this week's Redeemed team member, brought
[0:06] Speaker 2: to you by Hulu's Chad Powers. This week it's DeVante
[0:08] Speaker 2: Adams three touchdowns in London Rams crush the Jacksonville Jaguars.
[0:14] Speaker 2: Adams became the second player to have three touchdowns in
[0:17] Speaker 2: an international game. He and Stafford were dialed in. Chad
[0:20] Speaker 2: Powers is now streaming new episodes Tuesday on Hulu and
[0:24] Speaker 2: Hulu on Disney Plus for Bundle subscribers. Terms apply. Danny
[0:34] Speaker 2: Parkins is the perfect guest today for the show, not
[0:39] Speaker 2: just because he enjoys a little parlay from time to time,
[0:44] Speaker 2: but his Yeah, like tonight. But but it is a
[0:53] Speaker 2: It is something I think both of us feel strongly about.
[0:56] Speaker 1: Is I.
[0:58] Speaker 2: Always push back. I think the media, the mainstream media
[1:02] Speaker 2: sometimes can be really outdated and precious when it comes
[1:05] Speaker 2: to gambling. Europe's far ahead of us, has been for years.
[1:09] Speaker 2: And the truth is, and this is another criticism I
[1:13] Speaker 2: have of the media. They tend to pander and so
[1:18] Speaker 2: I don't think because there's more gambling opportunities, it's an
[1:22] Speaker 2: invitation to be an addict. I don't think more bars
[1:25] Speaker 2: are going to induce you into being alcoholic. I think
[1:28] Speaker 2: there are rules, there's laws. These are personal choices people make.
[1:34] Speaker 2: But I do think addiction is a sad tale because
[1:38] Speaker 2: many addicts are poor with no way out where Chauncey
[1:42] Speaker 2: Billups to me, Danny, the part of this that's just
[1:45] Speaker 2: mind boggling. Forget the fact that Chauncey Billups made over
[1:49] Speaker 2: one hundred million. He was always thought as a very
[1:52] Speaker 2: kind of smart, I would say, almost a coach while
[1:57] Speaker 2: he was playing. He was an adult in the room
[2:00] Speaker 2: that he played rigged poker games knowing they were rigged.
[2:07] Speaker 2: I'm I don't even I mean, if you'd have told me,
[2:11] Speaker 2: if you had to give me twenty names of people
[2:13] Speaker 2: and he was on it, I say, well, it's not
[2:15] Speaker 2: Chauncy that I know for sure. Is of all the
[2:19] Speaker 2: stuff on Rosier and Chauncey Billups and Damon Jones and
[2:23] Speaker 2: the Lakosa Nostra and the poker Chauncey played rigged poker
[2:28] Speaker 2: games and knew it?
[2:29] Speaker 1: To me?
[2:30] Speaker 2: Is the what what does that land? Similarly to you?
[2:35] Speaker 1: Yeah, of course, And I mean obviously we have to
[2:38] Speaker 1: say all of these things are like alleged at this
[2:40] Speaker 1: point that they've got some pretty damning specifics here, right,
[2:44] Speaker 1: So you know, let's just have the blanket their allegations
[2:48] Speaker 1: thing out of the way. And yes, Chauncey Billups's reputation
[2:52] Speaker 1: was sparkling. And you know, it appears that he also
[2:57] Speaker 1: is involved in the sports gambling one as that unidentified
[3:02] Speaker 1: person who played from this time to this time, and
[3:04] Speaker 1: then it was a coach from this time to this time,
[3:06] Speaker 1: and it was an Oregon resident like that.
[3:09] Speaker 2: We're going to talk about a lot of.
[3:11] Speaker 1: This, but like, if that is true, Like, let's just
[3:13] Speaker 1: assume that the unnamed person in the sports gambling one
[3:17] Speaker 1: who fits the exact description of Chauncey Billups is Chauncey Billups.
[3:23] Speaker 1: I mean that is the NBA's version of Pete Rose. Yeah,
[3:27] Speaker 1: you have an NBA head coach tipping off a gambler
[3:32] Speaker 1: that they're gonna that he's gonna sit players so that
[3:34] Speaker 1: they should bet that they should bet the under like that.
[3:39] Speaker 2: I mean, he's in the Hall of Fame.
[3:41] Speaker 1: Colin Like, can he get thrown out of the Hall
[3:44] Speaker 1: of Fame?
[3:45] Speaker 2: Yes?
[3:46] Speaker 1: Right, but I like that is on the table for
[3:50] Speaker 1: his basketball reputation if that is true, because I would
[3:53] Speaker 1: imagine he would not get thrown out of the Hall
[3:55] Speaker 1: of Fame for just the poker side of it. But
[3:57] Speaker 1: if he was, if it's proven that Chauncey Bill as
[4:00] Speaker 1: an NBA head coach, it was proven to letting gamblers
[4:06] Speaker 1: know what he was going to do with his players
[4:08] Speaker 1: for the purposes of betting unders on props, He'll never
[4:12] Speaker 1: be allowed around basketball ever again. And it's it would
[4:16] Speaker 1: be a startling fall from grace for one of the
[4:19] Speaker 1: guys with like a truly immaculate reputation within the game.
[4:23] Speaker 2: Yeah, like there are you know, I can think multiple
[4:27] Speaker 2: things at the same time. If he was a you know,
[4:32] Speaker 2: like when people have problems with addiction, and I don't
[4:35] Speaker 2: know if this is addiction, but when people have problems
[4:37] Speaker 2: with addiction, there's varying levels of it. I mean, I
[4:43] Speaker 2: had somebody close to me that drank for fifty years
[4:45] Speaker 2: and stone cold stop at sixty four and has never
[4:49] Speaker 2: touched it. And it's like, and I've heard multiple stories
[4:52] Speaker 2: of that. My dad didn't have that ability. So some
[4:54] Speaker 2: of it's genetic. Some people are wired to be able
[4:57] Speaker 2: to stop stuff. I don't have an obsessive compulsive personality,
[5:02] Speaker 2: so I don't I don't have that. I have I
[5:04] Speaker 2: worked once in the Pacific Northwest with somebody who had
[5:09] Speaker 2: moderation issues with food and gambling and behavior, and it
[5:13] Speaker 2: was it was scary a person could not control everything
[5:16] Speaker 2: from food intake to temper to gambling. So I don't
[5:20] Speaker 2: know if that's the issue, but Chauncey certainly could seek
[5:24] Speaker 2: help and could afford help. What really bothers me with Chauncey, though,
[5:30] Speaker 2: is the rigged poker games, because that's more sinister to me.
[5:33] Speaker 2: It's it's one thing, well, it's it's stealing.
[5:36] Speaker 1: It's just it's it's it's just it's it's it is
[5:39] Speaker 1: it is stealing. I mean, listen, So I've played in
[5:43] Speaker 1: like I played cards, Nick and I have played cards
[5:46] Speaker 1: together forever. Nick at this point is a much more
[5:49] Speaker 1: accomplished poker player than I ever was, But I have
[5:54] Speaker 1: so I've lived in Chicago, Syracuse, Kansas City, and now
[5:59] Speaker 1: New York. I have played in what are technically illegal
[6:07] Speaker 1: poker games every place I've ever lived. Because what makes
[6:11] Speaker 1: a poker game illegal is if a place takes a
[6:14] Speaker 1: rake they take if they take a vig right, like
[6:18] Speaker 1: like you go to a casino and you play poker,
[6:20] Speaker 1: maybe they'll cap it at twenty bucks a hand. It's
[6:24] Speaker 1: a percentage of the pot up to a certain amount
[6:26] Speaker 1: and then it's capped. And that's how like the house
[6:28] Speaker 1: makes their money. And so like if you go to
[6:30] Speaker 1: a guy's house and he's got a table running and
[6:33] Speaker 1: he's got a dealer and you know, you drink for
[6:37] Speaker 1: free and they maybe order pizzas for the room or
[6:39] Speaker 1: whatever the case may be, Like how do they pay
[6:41] Speaker 1: for that? How does the guy make his money? They
[6:43] Speaker 1: take a rig, They take a vig out of the game, right,
[6:45] Speaker 1: A rake is what it's called in poker, and that's
[6:48] Speaker 1: like technically illegal, but it's not a big deal, Like
[6:51] Speaker 1: it's not, it's just everybody does it for forever. But
[6:56] Speaker 1: if and when you go to any game that isn't
[6:58] Speaker 1: in a casino, you of course have like a you
[7:01] Speaker 1: are some fear of like is the game on the
[7:03] Speaker 1: up and up? Do the players know each other? Is
[7:06] Speaker 1: the dealer in on it? Like that is like a
[7:09] Speaker 1: thing that you take on some level of risk, which
[7:11] Speaker 1: is why it's like quote unquote safer to go play
[7:14] Speaker 1: in Vegas, to go play in Atlantic City, to go
[7:16] Speaker 1: play in you know, the casinos in Chicago or wherever.
[7:20] Speaker 2: So that's where I would normally play.
[7:21] Speaker 1: But I've found myself in these games before, and you
[7:24] Speaker 1: it's in the back of your mind, but it.
[7:26] Speaker 2: Is what it is.
[7:28] Speaker 1: But if the allegations about Chauncey Billups that the dealer
[7:32] Speaker 1: was in on it, the other players were in on it,
[7:35] Speaker 1: and he was.
[7:36] Speaker 2: As the the.
[7:39] Speaker 1: Letter of the love with their what the FBI guy
[7:41] Speaker 1: was alleging is that he was what they called the
[7:43] Speaker 1: face card. Play in a game with Chauncey Billups, which
[7:49] Speaker 1: is what would get big Fish with money.
[7:52] Speaker 2: Oh my god, I've got money.
[7:53] Speaker 1: I can play ten thousand dollars buy in poker games
[7:55] Speaker 1: with an NBA with a Hall of Famer, and I
[7:57] Speaker 1: get to meet him and take pictures or whatever. And
[8:00] Speaker 1: then if Chauncey Billups also knew, which is what they're alleging, Yeah,
[8:04] Speaker 1: I mean he's he's a common criminal.
[8:07] Speaker 2: Like it's it's just it is. It is.
[8:08] Speaker 1: It is the It is the same thing of going
[8:11] Speaker 1: into someone's house and robbing them of their jewelry.
[8:14] Speaker 2: You know what I mean.
[8:14] Speaker 1: It is It is theft. There's nothing there, no other
[8:16] Speaker 1: way to describe it.
[8:17] Speaker 2: Yeah, it was. You know. I I'm much older than
[8:22] Speaker 2: you and My first job was in Las Vegas, and
[8:25] Speaker 2: I came in there pretty naively to Las Vegas and
[8:28] Speaker 2: I covered Jerry Tarkanian and Tar was always fully aware
[8:32] Speaker 2: of the casinos. There were some I could name a
[8:36] Speaker 2: couple of guys that were around the program. One of
[8:39] Speaker 2: the things Tark had, like I remember this, like forty
[8:42] Speaker 2: free tickets. That's unbelievable, Like Jim Herrick at UCLA had
[8:46] Speaker 2: like four. You know, Tark had like forty and by
[8:51] Speaker 2: the way, he would give them to a guy I know,
[8:55] Speaker 2: we used to call him a track suit Tony. He
[8:58] Speaker 2: would give him thirty five of the tickets, thirty six
[9:02] Speaker 2: of the tickets, and Mike would sell those tickets and
[9:05] Speaker 2: bring back you know, yeah, you know. And then there
[9:09] Speaker 2: was another guy named Larry. I'm not going to say
[9:11] Speaker 2: his last name. He had a big business on the side.
[9:14] Speaker 2: And you know, there was always these feelings that these
[9:17] Speaker 2: guys aren't you know, I don't know about these guys,
[9:19] Speaker 2: but I knew the guys. They were fine, they were
[9:21] Speaker 2: just like guys around Tark. But there was always reputations
[9:26] Speaker 2: Tark hangs around. In my take was guys, they're not
[9:30] Speaker 2: mafia members, like they owned businesses they're just kind of
[9:34] Speaker 2: they want to be. You know, tark was the biggest
[9:36] Speaker 2: celebrity not named Steve Wynn or Mike Tyson in town.
[9:40] Speaker 2: But and I there was a lot of talk through
[9:42] Speaker 2: the years, and I just didn't buy into it because
[9:44] Speaker 2: I the only time I've seen Tark turned gray is
[9:47] Speaker 2: when I brought up gambling, and he's like, it terrifies me.
[9:50] Speaker 2: He just like changed personality goes it terrifies me. And
[9:54] Speaker 2: it was Tim Gergerich and those guys, they and Lois Tarkanian,
[9:57] Speaker 2: and they really educated the players. And then one day
[10:01] Speaker 2: the administration was trying to get tark out, including the
[10:04] Speaker 2: athletic director at the time, and a picture a Sunday
[10:07] Speaker 2: morning Las Vegas Review Journal of Moses Scurry, Anderson Hunt
[10:11] Speaker 2: and David Butler in a hot tub with Richie the
[10:13] Speaker 2: fixer Perry, and so I was like, oh, program over.
[10:18] Speaker 2: So that obviously the ad found the picture, they got
[10:21] Speaker 2: it to the you know, newspaper. So I was right.
[10:27] Speaker 2: Suddenly I was a crime reporter and it's just no fun.
[10:31] Speaker 2: You know, I'm like twenty nine years old. I want
[10:32] Speaker 2: to talk Mike Tyson. I'm talking about Richie the Fixer
[10:38] Speaker 2: Perry and nothing was ever really proven, And I still
[10:41] Speaker 2: to this day would defend that program to the ends
[10:43] Speaker 2: of the earth. On any of the gambling stuff. Tark
[10:46] Speaker 2: constantly pled with his players to stay out of these casinos.
[10:51] Speaker 2: But I think one of the things I said today
[10:53] Speaker 2: is since the chariots in Rome mafia gambling sports, you
[11:01] Speaker 2: just have to understand it's not because it's now legalized.
[11:05] Speaker 2: It happened to Henry Hill in the seventies at Boston College.
[11:08] Speaker 2: Too many people are jumping to see this is the
[11:10] Speaker 2: problem with you know, Fan Duel. My take is, guys,
[11:15] Speaker 2: my take is you're really naive. In fact, i'd say
[11:19] Speaker 2: it's more regulated now, and it's arguable it's more monitored now.
[11:23] Speaker 2: My take is these stories are good actually because it
[11:25] Speaker 2: fishes out the bad actors.
[11:30] Speaker 1: Okay, there's a level of nuance to this. As I
[11:34] Speaker 1: see it, it is objectively true that the way that
[11:42] Speaker 1: these players got caught Jonte Porter Rogier like for tanking
[11:48] Speaker 1: their unders is because it was legal. Like it's the
[11:52] Speaker 1: regulation is what allowed it to be caught. On day one,
[11:56] Speaker 1: if if Terry Rosier's player prop of nine and a
[12:01] Speaker 1: half points is posted and normally that gets two thousand
[12:07] Speaker 1: dollars worth of action across a bunch of ten fifty
[12:10] Speaker 1: one hundred dollars bets and then one day there's mid
[12:15] Speaker 1: five figures of action that gets flagged. Yeah, and it
[12:19] Speaker 1: gets notified and the site fan Duel, DraftKings, hard Rock, whomever,
[12:26] Speaker 1: and the league their interests on.
[12:30] Speaker 2: That are aligned.
[12:31] Speaker 1: Yes, because if the NBA wants the integrity of the
[12:35] Speaker 1: game and the gambling company doesn't want to lose money.
[12:39] Speaker 2: Well, in Vegas, the margins for sports betting in Vegas
[12:41] Speaker 2: and twenty twenty five or thin.
[12:44] Speaker 1: Right exactly, So like they're they are catching that quicker
[12:50] Speaker 1: and more accurately, literally the day it happens in all
[12:55] Speaker 1: of these cases that have come up because of the regulation.
[12:58] Speaker 1: So like the idea that it is like happening more
[13:05] Speaker 1: because of it, they're gonna also catch it. I will
[13:09] Speaker 1: say though that like it is easier to gamble, yes,
[13:15] Speaker 1: because it is legal. It is easier to have a phone,
[13:20] Speaker 1: have access to a debit card. Like when I started
[13:23] Speaker 1: online gambling when I was fifteen, sixteen years old, it
[13:28] Speaker 1: was like it was like offshore and you had to
[13:32] Speaker 1: it wasn't that high of a barrier of entry.
[13:34] Speaker 2: But It was like, are you going to get paid?
[13:37] Speaker 1: Do you have to buy a phone like an international
[13:39] Speaker 1: calling card to deposit? Did you have to wire money?
[13:43] Speaker 1: Would your bank accept the check? It was a whole
[13:45] Speaker 1: big run around. Now it is just like much easier,
[13:48] Speaker 1: And there have been studies done on Twitter, Instagram, all
[13:53] Speaker 1: these apps on our phone that they are they're programmed
[13:57] Speaker 1: like slot machines to get you to keep check the
[14:00] Speaker 1: pings and the notifications and the lights to get you
[14:02] Speaker 1: to keep walking past.
[14:03] Speaker 2: It's just like Silicon Valley's algorithms. They want you on
[14:06] Speaker 2: the phone. Well, so that's what I'm saying.
[14:08] Speaker 1: So I do think that it would also equally be
[14:12] Speaker 1: naive to dismiss the barrier of entry to gambling being
[14:19] Speaker 1: easier than ever before, pretending like that does not have
[14:23] Speaker 1: a causal link to an increased amount of problematic gambling behavior,
[14:31] Speaker 1: primarily in young men. Right, Like, I do think that
[14:34] Speaker 1: those numbers are going up and will stay up, but
[14:40] Speaker 1: it ain't going away, yeah, right, Like prohibition doesn't work
[14:45] Speaker 1: to your point, It doesn't work with alcohol, it doesn't
[14:48] Speaker 1: work with weed, It doesn't work with gambling. It doesn't
[14:51] Speaker 1: it doesn't work. It doesn't work with sex.
[14:53] Speaker 2: It doesn't.
[14:53] Speaker 1: It doesn't work with anything, never has, so it never has.
[14:58] Speaker 1: So you know, I've I've read really smart columnists on
[15:02] Speaker 1: this story, and you know, a lot of the conclusions
[15:06] Speaker 1: are similar, and it is, you know, like the leagues
[15:09] Speaker 1: got embedded the gambling companies. That comes with a cost.
[15:13] Speaker 1: Was it worth it? And those the leagues are all
[15:17] Speaker 1: universally going to say yes, yes, you know, and like
[15:21] Speaker 1: there there are so these stories are going to happen
[15:25] Speaker 1: and it's.
[15:26] Speaker 2: It sucks Danny, but.
[15:28] Speaker 1: I do I do think it is an unavoidable cost
[15:31] Speaker 1: of the legalization of sports gambling.
[15:33] Speaker 2: But there's no putting the genie back in the bottle. Listen,
[15:36] Speaker 2: Hollywood called Saudi Arabia money, blood money. It's a complicated world.
[15:43] Speaker 2: Now Hollywood's taking Saudi money, right, So when I hear
[15:50] Speaker 2: people say, well live, oh stop, there's a real truth
[15:54] Speaker 2: out here. The Puritans are always people that don't get
[15:58] Speaker 2: offered things. Chris Rock, you're as you know, you're as
[16:02] Speaker 2: loyal as your options. The internet trolls, the anonymous people,
[16:06] Speaker 2: they're always the most unified in their pristine views of
[16:11] Speaker 2: the world. And the truth is, if you're offered stuff,
[16:15] Speaker 2: people eventually take it, they justify it. Saudi money was
[16:19] Speaker 2: viewed one way and then now it's not. And the
[16:24] Speaker 2: reality is everybody networks, Hollywood leagues, everybody accepts it. And
[16:31] Speaker 2: I look at sports gambling again, there's a little bit
[16:36] Speaker 2: of a link with alcohol where I think, listen, I leagues,
[16:41] Speaker 2: for instance, stadiums cut off alcohol sales and like the
[16:44] Speaker 2: seventh inning, like we're serving it, but we're stopping at
[16:46] Speaker 2: the seventh you know, bars, you know, tell people enough.
[16:52] Speaker 2: My concern is I think the prop bets prop bets
[16:55] Speaker 2: on your phone are dangerous. But if you ban that,
[17:00] Speaker 2: well then it goes to the unregulated market, and that's
[17:02] Speaker 2: worth so to me correct. I would just rather have
[17:05] Speaker 2: all this crap monitor I want all gambling monitored closely.
[17:09] Speaker 2: And then I mean, like one of the problems I
[17:11] Speaker 2: think I think there's yeah, yeah, sorry, so sorry.
[17:14] Speaker 1: I think I think the prop that thing is an
[17:16] Speaker 1: interesting like I do think.
[17:18] Speaker 2: I I wonder if it is.
[17:19] Speaker 1: If there's an interesting thought though to like.
[17:23] Speaker 2: If you're if it's a like.
[17:26] Speaker 1: What the level of player is that should have a
[17:29] Speaker 1: two way prop market offered? Like should I be able
[17:33] Speaker 1: to bet the under on the eighth guy on the
[17:39] Speaker 1: NBA team and his prop is like six and a
[17:41] Speaker 1: half points, Like I don't I don't know, Like maybe
[17:45] Speaker 1: they shouldn't be two way markets, and that's bad. That's me,
[17:49] Speaker 1: that's bad for me as the gambler. Yeah, because like
[17:52] Speaker 1: normally you get way worse odds if they are just
[17:54] Speaker 1: one way market because people like playing overs, so those
[17:57] Speaker 1: things get like inflated, Like the sharp money is often
[18:00] Speaker 1: to bet unders because people like betting overs. Right, But
[18:04] Speaker 1: I do wonder if a potential solve for this is
[18:09] Speaker 1: you can bet Terry Rogiers over and you cannot bet,
[18:13] Speaker 1: but you cannot bet is on it.
[18:14] Speaker 2: That's right, that's right.
[18:16] Speaker 1: I think that there's that that might be a way
[18:19] Speaker 1: to help in the prop market a little bit, because
[18:24] Speaker 1: that is a legitimate problem, Like that is a legitimate
[18:27] Speaker 1: integrity of the game issue. And again I feel like
[18:30] Speaker 1: the leagues and the gambling companies, like the gambling company
[18:34] Speaker 1: might scoff a little bit, that's gonna cost us some money,
[18:37] Speaker 1: and the league's gonna say deal with it, Like you
[18:40] Speaker 1: want to be partners with the NBA, the NFL, Major
[18:43] Speaker 1: League Baseball, be our official gambling partner, Like you've got
[18:46] Speaker 1: to take that one percent like, people aren't gonna just
[18:50] Speaker 1: they're not gonna stop gambling.
[18:51] Speaker 2: There's gonna gamble on something different, you know.
[18:53] Speaker 1: So that I've been thinking about it a lot, I
[18:55] Speaker 1: feel like maybe that's a potential solve.
[18:59] Speaker 2: Is just are no more two way markets on player
[19:02] Speaker 2: props our brains work similarly, because I thought about this
[19:05] Speaker 2: interview I was doing with you tonight, and I was
[19:08] Speaker 2: thinking about prop bets, and I'm like, well, well, I
[19:10] Speaker 2: don't want it to go to the unregulated markets. That's nonsense.
[19:13] Speaker 2: You can't. I mean, you just don't have the same radar.
[19:16] Speaker 2: But I do think my mind went to the same thing,
[19:18] Speaker 2: is just no under bets, because then it can be
[19:20] Speaker 2: manipulated by you know, the whole thing. Like Tim Donneghey
[19:24] Speaker 2: always said, I wasn't trying to change outcomes. I just
[19:26] Speaker 2: called more fouls to get the over right. And I've
[19:29] Speaker 2: always been more concerned with officials. So I had to
[19:40] Speaker 2: scrap my lead today, literally twenty minutes to go, I
[19:44] Speaker 2: scrapped my lead we had. I thought I was getting
[19:46] Speaker 2: a cash battel on the show. What happened? Wow? Yeah?
[19:51] Speaker 2: I thought it was hot? Yeah wow. I hope everybody
[19:54] Speaker 2: realizes that in thirty minutes against the best you're on
[20:00] Speaker 2: line in the league Wemby did wilt forty points, no turnovers?
[20:08] Speaker 2: Oh hell yeah, let's talk about it. Okay, it's timeout.
[20:11] Speaker 2: What is he twenty two? Yeah? Okay, forty points, thirty minutes,
[20:18] Speaker 2: three blocks, no turnovers, fifteen rebounds lost in all of this,
[20:22] Speaker 2: that's one of the top five lines in league history.
[20:26] Speaker 2: Thirty minutes in forty he shot seventy percent from the
[20:29] Speaker 2: floor in Dallas has the best front line in the league.
[20:33] Speaker 1: Yeah, it it broke my basketball brain. Like I I
[20:39] Speaker 1: feel like, listen, I have loved him ever since I've
[20:42] Speaker 1: seen him as a prospect. Everyone has. I've talked about
[20:46] Speaker 1: him in like pretty like lofty terms because of what
[20:50] Speaker 1: he can be, but the maturity of the offensive game
[20:56] Speaker 1: that he showed last night. I put together like a
[21:00] Speaker 1: list of superlatives today on first things. First that I
[21:03] Speaker 1: ran past Nick in the segment that we do together
[21:05] Speaker 1: on Thursdays, and I was like, like, which of these
[21:09] Speaker 1: do you think at the end of his career, we're
[21:13] Speaker 1: going to be able to cross out the names of
[21:15] Speaker 1: the guys who currently have the records and it's going
[21:16] Speaker 1: to be him. So like three guys have the record
[21:20] Speaker 1: for most defensive Player of the Year awards with four. Oh,
[21:23] Speaker 1: he'll win twelve, That's what I'm saying. I but it's
[21:27] Speaker 1: like Ben Wallace, Rudy Gobert, they have four. Like I would,
[21:32] Speaker 1: I would lay minus five hundred that he gets more
[21:36] Speaker 1: than four defense. I mean, obviously the game minimum threshold
[21:39] Speaker 1: is like the only impediment to that. But like he's
[21:42] Speaker 1: twenty two, he's gonna. I agree, twelve is on the board.
[21:46] Speaker 1: Only player ever to win the scoring title and defensive
[21:51] Speaker 1: Player of the Year Michael Jordan did it once. Feels
[21:55] Speaker 1: like when Benyama could be the second.
[21:56] Speaker 2: Think you know what I thought about watching him last night?
[22:00] Speaker 2: What's that? I always had this feeling that if you
[22:03] Speaker 2: did a one on one tournament, Michael and Lebron Kevin
[22:09] Speaker 2: Durant would be up there. Yeah, the bigs Giannis would
[22:12] Speaker 2: be good, but he doesn't have the ability, you know,
[22:16] Speaker 2: because there would be three in the key to make
[22:18] Speaker 2: it fair. I looked at that and I thought to myself,
[22:22] Speaker 2: I'm not sure how many points Lebron in his prime
[22:25] Speaker 2: would score on Wimby. I'm not sure he blocked a shot,
[22:30] Speaker 2: he got a rebound over Derek Lively last night and
[22:34] Speaker 2: Jay Billis said it, Lively six'. Eleven he looked like
[22:37] Speaker 2: a sixth. Grader he blocked a. Shot these guys that
[22:42] Speaker 2: are six ten and, long they turn, Around wemby moves
[22:46] Speaker 2: off his. Player he's blocking the ball near the, elbow
[22:50] Speaker 2: somewhere between the rest and the. Elbow AND i think to,
[22:53] Speaker 2: myself if you added six inches To Kevin durant and
[23:00] Speaker 2: had the same quickness and a little more, Length Like
[23:05] Speaker 2: i'm watching him And i'm, Like i'm not really sure
[23:07] Speaker 2: how you defend. It you don't really.
[23:09] Speaker 1: Defend, This, no you. Don't you don't defend, It and
[23:15] Speaker 1: LIKE i Just i've been thinking about, it like basically all.
[23:18] Speaker 1: DAY i think we're going to just see things that
[23:23] Speaker 1: we've never seen before that we're not even going to
[23:26] Speaker 1: fully realize what we're. Seeing, like, uh he did something
[23:29] Speaker 1: last year THAT i like demanded we get into breakfast
[23:33] Speaker 1: ball Because i'm, LIKE i promise, you no one cares
[23:35] Speaker 1: about this, game BUT i promise you no one's ever seen.
[23:37] Speaker 1: This he shot a three pointer and it was, like you,
[23:41] Speaker 1: know he's like fading back a little bit on the,
[23:43] Speaker 1: three like a pure jump, shot like he wasn't like
[23:46] Speaker 1: running towards the. Hoop he shot up a normal three,
[23:48] Speaker 1: pointer and he could tell off his hand that it was.
[23:53] Speaker 1: Long so he lands from the jumper and charges and
[23:58] Speaker 1: he tip. Slammed he put like a putback slam his
[24:03] Speaker 1: own missed three. Pointer like we've seen that on free,
[24:06] Speaker 1: throws but on a three. Pointer it was.
[24:10] Speaker 2: Insane, Yeah AND.
[24:12] Speaker 1: I just think we're gonna, See we're gonna, like did
[24:15] Speaker 1: he take two dribbles from half court and?
[24:18] Speaker 2: Dunk you?
[24:19] Speaker 1: KNOW i THINK i think we're gonna just like start
[24:21] Speaker 1: to like. Recap we're gonna have to like recalibrate what
[24:25] Speaker 1: is actually.
[24:26] Speaker 2: Possible That's. Mike there's a story About Mike. Krzyzewski AND
[24:31] Speaker 2: i Think Mark few was there In Jim. Bayheim it
[24:33] Speaker 2: Was olympic basketball and it was one of their first
[24:36] Speaker 2: looks At lebron playing in a, practice AND i had
[24:40] Speaker 2: heard this. STORY i don't know if it was from
[24:42] Speaker 2: a friend Of Jay billis or it was somebody That
[24:45] Speaker 2: AND i like by the Way jay billis on pro.
[24:47] Speaker 2: BASKETBALL i think he does a good. JOB i really.
[24:48] Speaker 2: DO i think he really he.
[24:50] Speaker 1: Clearly, Cares he clearly he does his. Homework he keeps
[24:54] Speaker 1: it to the. Game he's very.
[24:55] Speaker 2: Good, Yeah jay's pretty good the AND i think it
[24:59] Speaker 2: was a friend Of Ja billis that told Me jay
[25:02] Speaker 2: had told. Him they were doing a practice And skrzyzewski
[25:05] Speaker 2: was at half, court kind of arms, folded sitting back
[25:08] Speaker 2: on the, bench and there was a loose ball And
[25:11] Speaker 2: lebron picked it up full, steam swooped in to pick
[25:15] Speaker 2: it up and dribbled twice and dunked, it And shrzewski
[25:20] Speaker 2: just was beside. Himself he's, like that's six, dribbles maybe
[25:25] Speaker 2: five With Jordan and it was to your, point Like
[25:29] Speaker 2: skrzyzewski was taken back by. It he turned to The
[25:33] Speaker 2: beheim or few or both and just, went what did
[25:36] Speaker 2: we just? Watch Steve kirk through a, friend told a
[25:39] Speaker 2: story one of the first times he had to Face
[25:45] Speaker 2: lebron and it was just, LIKE i, GIVE i don't
[25:47] Speaker 2: even know, Whatever like what do you want me to?
[25:49] Speaker 2: Do SO i THINK i Think wemby. SIMILARLY i JUST
[25:55] Speaker 2: i was watching with my. WIFE i, said see that
[25:59] Speaker 2: guy in the shoes that are the bright. SHOES i
[26:02] Speaker 2: see he'll probably be the best player in the league
[26:04] Speaker 2: this time next. Year AND i said it Today luca
[26:07] Speaker 2: And sga can't dominate a game on the defensive, end
[26:09] Speaker 2: And giannis can't, shoot you, know beyond sixteen. Feet jokic
[26:14] Speaker 2: is a more complete offensive, player moderate mid defensive player
[26:19] Speaker 2: by The All star, BREAK i, Mean Jesus danny six more?
[26:23] Speaker 2: Games like last, night is he the second best player
[26:25] Speaker 2: in the?
[26:25] Speaker 1: League, YEAH i, mean like SO i think that this
[26:30] Speaker 1: is it all depends on how we define. This LIKE
[26:33] Speaker 1: i always define that question by like the literal definition
[26:38] Speaker 1: of what that, means like a scouts, eye like the
[26:41] Speaker 1: best basketball, player basketball people and media really just not just,
[26:47] Speaker 1: basketball BECAUSE i think we do it in football. Too we,
[26:50] Speaker 1: like LIKE i don't Think Tom brady is the best
[26:53] Speaker 1: quarterback BECAUSE i he is the most. Accomplished sure he
[26:58] Speaker 1: is the. Goat, yeah but like but like best quarterback
[27:03] Speaker 1: is not goat to?
[27:04] Speaker 2: Me to me because because because it's like.
[27:07] Speaker 1: A scouting, term, right the guy last night's the best,
[27:11] Speaker 1: Player wemby Is wemby is the best player because LET'S
[27:18] Speaker 1: i obviously agree with, You jokich is a better offensive.
[27:21] Speaker 1: Player he's a better Passed, yeah, yeah, SURE i, Agree
[27:26] Speaker 1: but like how much better is he? Offensively ten? Percent fifteen?
[27:30] Speaker 1: Percent is he twenty percent better. Offensively wemby is one
[27:35] Speaker 1: hundred percent better defensively Than. Yoki, so like you know
[27:40] Speaker 1: WHAT i mean the gap Between Like nick was saying
[27:45] Speaker 1: today That Anthony davis would have been like the number
[27:47] Speaker 1: one pick in the draft to like Guard, WEMBY i
[27:50] Speaker 1: would say it would be, honest, younger, stronger more like
[27:54] Speaker 1: like stronger basically Than Anthony. Davis but like they're. Both
[27:58] Speaker 1: it's they're two of the top three or four guys
[28:00] Speaker 1: that you would choose to try to guard to Guard.
[28:03] Speaker 2: Wemby but so like.
[28:06] Speaker 1: The gap Between wemby and the second best defensive player
[28:10] Speaker 1: in basketball is The Atlantic ocean compared to the gap
[28:16] Speaker 1: Between jokic and the second best offensive player in, basketball, Right,
[28:21] Speaker 1: like so he's, incredible yeah and SO I but in
[28:26] Speaker 1: basketball we usually, say like you have to do it
[28:30] Speaker 1: in the. Playoffs you have to win AN, mvp you
[28:32] Speaker 1: have to win a title before you can have like
[28:34] Speaker 1: the best player alive. TITLE i don't. AGREE i personally
[28:40] Speaker 1: am Like Aaron rodgers in his, Prime Patrick mahomes in his.
[28:43] Speaker 1: Prime they're better Than Tom brady Or Drew. Brees they're
[28:47] Speaker 1: not yet. MORE i Mean mahomes is actually not more
[28:49] Speaker 1: accomplished Than, Breeze but like you know WHAT i, mean
[28:51] Speaker 1: like they're not have more yards.
[28:53] Speaker 2: Whatever but.
[28:56] Speaker 1: That guy last, night he's gonna have a quadruple double this.
[29:00] Speaker 1: Year it's only happened four times in the history of the.
[29:03] Speaker 1: League it would not surprise no one's ever done it
[29:05] Speaker 1: more than. Once David robinson did it, ONCE A keen
[29:07] Speaker 1: did it. Once it would not at all surprise. Me
[29:09] Speaker 1: If Victor wenbinyama has multiple quadruple bubbles this season at twenty.
[29:15] Speaker 2: Two years, old he's the best. Player that was a
[29:19] Speaker 2: wild late window on a day and made. Chili it
[29:25] Speaker 2: was raining and. Cool it felt like the. Fall what
[29:29] Speaker 2: a wild late. Window The Denver broncos final five possessions
[29:35] Speaker 2: with Bow knicks, touchdown, touchdown, touchdown, touchdown walk off field.
[29:39] Speaker 2: Goal so Bow. Knicks not only did The New York
[29:42] Speaker 2: giants lead nineteen to, nothing they were totally dominating the.
[29:47] Speaker 2: Game denver roars back for a thirty three thirty two
[29:51] Speaker 2: win over The New York. GIANTS i gotta tell, you
[29:53] Speaker 2: If i'm A giants, FAN i feel strangely. Great Jackson
[29:58] Speaker 2: dart on the what we pursue as the game winning
[30:01] Speaker 2: drive plays with total. CONFIDENCE i didn't like the pass
[30:04] Speaker 2: interference call considering the, CONSEQUENCES i didn't love that. Call you,
[30:08] Speaker 2: know pass interference is such a, nebulous hard call to begin.
[30:13] Speaker 2: With BUT i gotta be honest about Bow. NICKS i
[30:17] Speaker 2: said this last, week AND i said it the week.
[30:19] Speaker 2: Before john first two years in the league as a.
[30:21] Speaker 2: Quarterback if you can, run, run it'll buy a first.
[30:24] Speaker 2: Downs these defenses are. Sophisticated this is not The Big,
[30:27] Speaker 2: ten THE sec or the you KNOW acc the windows,
[30:32] Speaker 2: shrink the coordinators are. Better you have to pick up
[30:34] Speaker 2: first downs with your. LEGS i thought, today especially in
[30:37] Speaker 2: the second, Half Sean payton let Bow knicks run on crucial.
[30:41] Speaker 3: Downs, YEAH i, Mean, colin it looked really. UGLY i
[30:43] Speaker 3: mean there was a point in. TIME i mean they
[30:45] Speaker 3: had to score thirty three points in the fourth quarter
[30:47] Speaker 3: to win the.
[30:48] Speaker 4: Game they didn't have a.
[30:49] Speaker 3: Point you, know there was a STAT i saw going
[30:53] Speaker 3: out of the first half that over the last of,
[30:55] Speaker 3: course the last three, games that they would be dead
[30:57] Speaker 3: last in third down conversion FOR i, mean they were.
[31:00] Speaker 3: Atrocious they were just going three and. Out they couldn't
[31:04] Speaker 3: sustain any. Drives he kept missing the big plays and
[31:07] Speaker 3: then it just. FLIPPED i, mean the one thing you
[31:08] Speaker 3: can't deny that he. Has he's got some mental. Fortitude
[31:11] Speaker 3: And Sean payton what looked like was the game winning.
[31:13] Speaker 3: Touchdown they ran like a quarterback, power you, know and
[31:17] Speaker 3: they just let. Him if you remember a long time,
[31:19] Speaker 3: ago the forty nine ers With Alex smith Played Sean
[31:22] Speaker 3: payton in a playoff game with The. Saints they did
[31:25] Speaker 3: the same, thing AND i you know that. Quarterback they
[31:27] Speaker 3: should institute more stuff like that With bowen their offense
[31:30] Speaker 3: because they've been running these deep breaking. Routes he's been missing.
[31:34] Speaker 3: Them keep it, shorter short, intermediate run the. BALL i
[31:37] Speaker 3: didn't think they ran the ball. Enough i'm with you
[31:39] Speaker 3: on The, giants LIKE i. Won their quarterback just looks
[31:42] Speaker 3: like he's kind of got a little. SOMETHING i, mean
[31:44] Speaker 3: he looks, Yeah Cam scataboo looks. Fantastic their pass rushers
[31:48] Speaker 3: all look. Good, listen it's not going. Well they've lost
[31:51] Speaker 3: two devastating.
[31:52] Speaker 4: Games this is The. Cowboy this is worse than The cowboy.
[31:54] Speaker 3: Game but you, know i'd, say big, picture you're, okay
[31:58] Speaker 3: but this Was it looked for a second When denver
[32:01] Speaker 3: was getting shut, out and even when they were down
[32:03] Speaker 3: what twenty six to. Eight you're, like, well The chiefs
[32:06] Speaker 3: are on the transcending up In denver's just got some
[32:10] Speaker 3: major offensive. Problems The chargers are kind of are The
[32:12] Speaker 3: chiefs just gonna run away with this? Division and then
[32:15] Speaker 3: it's THE nfl and.
[32:16] Speaker 2: Flipped you, KNOW i was Thinking John DeShawn because they
[32:19] Speaker 2: really do The Broncos Between, Evan, Ingram, Mims Sutton, franklin
[32:24] Speaker 2: they have long athletic and guys that can get over the. Top,
[32:30] Speaker 2: yeah and their offensive line is right now rated number
[32:32] Speaker 2: one or two BY, pff AND i wonder If sean
[32:35] Speaker 2: has so much confidence in. It he's he's really looking
[32:39] Speaker 2: for big. Plays and the truth is this is only
[32:42] Speaker 2: like twenty twenty four or five starts for Bow. Nicks,
[32:46] Speaker 2: Okay he's so it's almost like he's coaching like he's
[32:50] Speaker 2: got Because bo played so much college. Football it's almost
[32:52] Speaker 2: as If sean has put a ton on his. Back
[32:55] Speaker 2: and Because shawn LOVES i, Mean ingram's a stud, physically
[32:58] Speaker 2: he doesn't even look like The he's like AN nba.
[32:59] Speaker 2: Guy and Then mims And, sudden these are, long rangy
[33:03] Speaker 2: athletes and they're all, talented and so that they have
[33:06] Speaker 2: the potential for big, plays but SOMETIMES i think they
[33:12] Speaker 2: should worry more about like five yards on first down
[33:15] Speaker 2: and a lot of it would be Bow knicks. Packages
[33:17] Speaker 2: BECAUSE i mean again when you watch him and you
[33:20] Speaker 2: see it With Jackson, dart these guys are born early
[33:23] Speaker 2: in their. Career they want to. Run they know how
[33:26] Speaker 2: good the. DEFENSE i, Mean Jackson, dart we thought scored
[33:28] Speaker 2: the winning. Touchdown they literally called a play For they
[33:32] Speaker 2: said For Deet scataboo Bow knicks quarterback. Draw SO i,
[33:35] Speaker 2: mean clearly day ball Truss Jackson dart to. RUN i
[33:41] Speaker 2: MEAN i just WHEN i watch Bon, NICKS i see the,
[33:44] Speaker 2: skeptics but he is an.
[33:45] Speaker 4: Athlete, YEAH i MEAN i would run the ball.
[33:49] Speaker 1: MORE.
[33:49] Speaker 3: Jk DOBBINS i thought looked really. GOOD i mean when
[33:52] Speaker 3: they get on the edges with their offensive. Line the
[33:54] Speaker 3: young running BACK. Rj harvey looks. Good how About. HUFUNGA
[33:58] Speaker 3: i mean it has to be one of the better
[34:00] Speaker 3: season pickups in the. League he made play after play
[34:03] Speaker 3: today in the middle of the game to kind of
[34:04] Speaker 3: sleep it.
[34:05] Speaker 2: Close Between George, Pickens dallas acquisition And. Hufunga those are great,
[34:11] Speaker 2: talents but they're they're just great fits. NOW i, Mean
[34:14] Speaker 2: hufungo was gonna work. Anywhere pickens is going to be
[34:16] Speaker 2: as good as his, quarterback And dack's absolutely on. Fire
[34:19] Speaker 2: you know what did open it, Up Jackson dart had
[34:21] Speaker 2: one big mistake. Today it was that. Interception they were
[34:23] Speaker 2: leading twenty six sixteen five forty in the fourth and
[34:27] Speaker 2: he had it was an ugly pick by. Him it
[34:28] Speaker 2: was actually a great. Catch, SO i mean.
[34:31] Speaker 3: It was the only Way denver get back in the.
[34:32] Speaker 3: Game they were going to need a. Turnover they were
[34:34] Speaker 3: down twenty eight or twenty six to, eight you, know
[34:37] Speaker 3: with seven minutes. Left the only way you could come
[34:39] Speaker 3: back was a, turnover and he gifted them one on
[34:41] Speaker 3: their side of the.
[34:41] Speaker 2: Field so we've seen Boon nicks do this multiple. TIMES
[34:45] Speaker 2: i do think this is. True. JOHN i think those
[34:49] Speaker 2: sixty one college, starts coupled With Sean payton's play, calling
[34:54] Speaker 2: this is what we always talk. About who where you
[34:57] Speaker 2: land in THE nfl. Matters nicks a lot of college
[35:01] Speaker 2: starts and a lot of harsh environments At oregon At,
[35:04] Speaker 2: washington big big. Games all that college STUFF i think's paid.
[35:09] Speaker 2: Off Bo nix has been in a lot of close
[35:11] Speaker 2: games college and.
[35:12] Speaker 3: PRO i do, wonder you, know forever With Drew, brees
[35:16] Speaker 3: especially toward the latter end of his, career like pushing
[35:19] Speaker 3: the ball down his field is his you, know shoulder
[35:21] Speaker 3: started to go And sean really wanted this, athletic physical
[35:25] Speaker 3: guy In Taysom hill and it didn't quite work. Out
[35:27] Speaker 3: now he Has Bo, nicks who has the physical capability
[35:30] Speaker 3: of pushing the ball down the field and throwing. Bombs
[35:33] Speaker 3: it feels like he's very inclined to throw a lot
[35:35] Speaker 3: of go routes even though it's not, working because he's
[35:37] Speaker 3: been dreaming about throwing go routes for a, decade even,
[35:41] Speaker 3: though like you, said With sutton and some of their longer,
[35:43] Speaker 3: GUYS i don't pretend to no more football Than, peyton
[35:45] Speaker 3: but it just clearly is not. WORKING i think some
[35:47] Speaker 3: of the back shoulder, throws some just you, know running
[35:50] Speaker 3: the intermediate passing. Game that's where their skill, sets especially
[35:55] Speaker 3: with the Way bo's, playing because right now his inaccuracy
[35:57] Speaker 3: on the long, ball he just can't hit them way.
[36:00] Speaker 4: Off even on the pass did they hit that ended
[36:03] Speaker 4: up leading the game winning field.
[36:05] Speaker 3: GOAL i just think he kind of threw it up
[36:07] Speaker 3: for two, guys AND i don't even know who he
[36:09] Speaker 3: was thrown it, to but it. Worked and LIKE i
[36:13] Speaker 3: just think down the, field he's not very, accurate more
[36:15] Speaker 3: close and he had a lot of balls batting. Today
[36:17] Speaker 3: that's a little concust he. DID i, mean that's clearly
[36:19] Speaker 3: a game plan thing with the. Defense put your hands.
[36:22] Speaker 3: Up he's not the tallest. Guy felt like he had
[36:24] Speaker 3: like ten balls. BATTED i know the numbers probably like.
[36:26] Speaker 3: Five but there was a stretch in that game how
[36:28] Speaker 3: many times on second or third down ball would just
[36:30] Speaker 3: hit the. Ground and you just have a waste.
[36:31] Speaker 4: Of play.

[37:29] Speaker 2: it wasn't one of the better, games But Kansas city
[37:31] Speaker 2: Beat Las vegas thirty one to. Nothing The raiders were
[37:34] Speaker 2: held in ninety five total, yards and in the last,
[37:37] Speaker 2: month The chiefs are averaging thirty two points a. Game
[37:42] Speaker 2: AND i was sitting there this, MORNING i really believe
[37:44] Speaker 2: the NFL's come down to four. Tiers first tier Is Kansas.
[37:49] Speaker 2: City it looks like the best team in the. League
[37:52] Speaker 2: then there's several Teams tampa among, Them, Rams, Detroit, Philadelphia
[37:57] Speaker 2: colts that appear to be really, good solid football. Teams
[37:59] Speaker 2: Maybe denvers and they're maybe. Not there's three awful Teams, Titans, Jets,
[38:05] Speaker 2: dolphins Probably. Cleveland but then there's about twenty one to twenty.
[38:10] Speaker 2: Two Jeff schwortz said this today on the internet coin,
[38:13] Speaker 2: flips and so we've got a great, team a small
[38:17] Speaker 2: handful of good teams a really small handful of awful
[38:21] Speaker 2: like bottom of THE nba level, teams and then most
[38:24] Speaker 2: of these games are it's a lot of coin flip.
[38:27] Speaker 2: STUFF i, mean maybe The raiders are, awful but today's
[38:32] Speaker 2: a Great. Yeah so today this is the first time
[38:35] Speaker 2: all Year kansas that he had their top three. Receivers
[38:39] Speaker 2: rice had seven, Catches worthy had, Three juju. THREE i
[38:42] Speaker 2: THINK i told you two weeks, ago keep your eye
[38:44] Speaker 2: On Breshard. Smith that kid's going to end up being
[38:48] Speaker 2: a really good player for. Them Hollywood. Brown now you
[38:52] Speaker 2: look at their receiving corps With rice And worthy and you're, like,
[38:57] Speaker 2: oh it's one of the deeper wide receiving. CORES i,
[39:00] Speaker 2: MEAN i just it was forty two to seventeen time of.
[39:03] Speaker 2: POSSESSION i mean to, Me Kansas city clearly looks like
[39:07] Speaker 2: the best, speed the most, depth the best team hands
[39:10] Speaker 2: down in the. League that's what my eyes tell.
[39:12] Speaker 3: ME i think one major difference this year and the
[39:15] Speaker 3: way they look on offense they did last. Year Hollywood
[39:18] Speaker 3: brown basically missed the entire season for him last, season
[39:21] Speaker 3: he adds an element of JUST i wouldn't say He's
[39:24] Speaker 3: Tyreek hill by any means from a speed, standpoint but
[39:26] Speaker 3: he is a faster, receiver but he can catch ball's
[39:29] Speaker 3: intermediate go over the. Middle he makes a lot of
[39:31] Speaker 3: plays for him to, me you put him With. Juju
[39:34] Speaker 3: Now rice is, back it's kind of opened everything up
[39:36] Speaker 3: Because travis looks way.
[39:38] Speaker 1: Better part of last.
[39:39] Speaker 3: Year was, Like travis looks really bad and looking, back
[39:41] Speaker 3: clearly he's an older veteran, player but everything was so
[39:44] Speaker 3: condensed because they had no threat.
[39:46] Speaker 4: Outside so now you Add Hollywood, brown who's completely.
[39:49] Speaker 3: Healthy juju And patrick have a good. Chemistry rice now
[39:52] Speaker 3: back in the mix With, worthy you can spread the
[39:56] Speaker 3: field out and open the middle of the field for
[39:58] Speaker 3: eighty seven to. Operate because to Meet travis over the last,
[40:01] Speaker 3: MONTH i don't want to say he looks like himself
[40:03] Speaker 3: in his, prime but he definitely looks way better than
[40:06] Speaker 3: the guy THAT i thought was kind of over the
[40:07] Speaker 3: hill last.
[40:08] Speaker 4: Year and part of it.
[40:09] Speaker 3: Is he's not quite fast enough just to take on
[40:11] Speaker 3: two guys. Anymore but if he can get one on
[40:13] Speaker 3: one coverage and just work zones and what he does,
[40:16] Speaker 3: best as he's doing right, now their offense feels much more.
[40:20] Speaker 3: Balanced and like you, said The smith, KID i think FROM.
[40:22] Speaker 3: Smu they drafted the seventh round to go With pachaco
[40:25] Speaker 3: And Kareem. Hunt their offense just has a lot of
[40:27] Speaker 3: pros like, now guys LIKE i.
[40:29] Speaker 4: Want to replace this. GUY i want to replace this.
[40:31] Speaker 3: Guy maybe not Like hall Of fame guys in their,
[40:33] Speaker 3: peak but just a well rounded. BUNCH i, mean.
[40:36] Speaker 4: Their star left tackle has disappeared for a.
[40:39] Speaker 3: Couple, games got some personal stuff going, on so whenever
[40:42] Speaker 3: they get him. Back, interior their offensive lines. Excellent their
[40:45] Speaker 3: QUARTERBACK i thought's been playing well all, season and, TODAY
[40:48] Speaker 3: i mean. SPAGS i don't quite understand what's up with The,
[40:51] Speaker 3: raiders but, THEY i mean. They Patrick mahomes had sunflower
[40:55] Speaker 3: season had on at the end of the third, quarter
[40:57] Speaker 3: which is pretty unheard of in THE.
[40:58] Speaker 2: Nfl Colin WELL afc had their, Chances but The ravens
[41:02] Speaker 2: are one in, five The bills have lost two, straight
[41:04] Speaker 2: and The chargers now are just beat. Up let's. Time
[41:06] Speaker 2: want to tell you. Something if you didn't watch The Chargers,
[41:08] Speaker 2: colts don't blame it On Justin. Herbert he's getting hell
[41:12] Speaker 2: kicked out of them and he is just sitting back
[41:14] Speaker 2: there throwing. Darts BUT i kind of look At kansas
[41:17] Speaker 2: city and it drives people. Crazy but this, league for
[41:20] Speaker 2: as long AS i can, remember you can go back
[41:21] Speaker 2: To eddie De bartolow And Bill walsh And Joe. Montana
[41:26] Speaker 2: it's a leadership league if you're good at the. TOP i,
[41:29] Speaker 2: mean you, know you go look at The New York
[41:31] Speaker 2: giants fall from. Grace they Lose Tom, kafflin they Lose Eli.
[41:36] Speaker 2: MANNING i don't think they were ever great at general,
[41:39] Speaker 2: manager but they were. Capable and it's just never been the.
[41:42] Speaker 2: Same it's just very Hard john to. Find as you,
[41:45] Speaker 2: know there's no Other Andy reid in the. League And
[41:49] Speaker 2: Brett veach is one of the great mid round draft
[41:53] Speaker 2: guys in the. League and The hunt family is mostly hands,
[41:56] Speaker 2: off and Then mahomes is uniquely. Gifted and it's JUST
[42:00] Speaker 2: i always feel sort of like in college, football like
[42:03] Speaker 2: if You're Notre dame or You're georgia and you hire
[42:06] Speaker 2: the wrong coach Or michigan or something like, that you,
[42:08] Speaker 2: know one of those, schools it's easier to catch, up you,
[42:12] Speaker 2: know it's. Easier Once Lincoln riley came TO, usc their
[42:15] Speaker 2: offensive recruiting got, better right, like and they may not
[42:17] Speaker 2: win this or, that but the offense got really, good
[42:20] Speaker 2: really fast because he knows what he's. Doing us he's
[42:22] Speaker 2: a big. Brand it's easier for blue. Bloods If alabama
[42:24] Speaker 2: Gets kaylin De borie struggles for a, Year nick, say
[42:27] Speaker 2: but It's, Alabama like it's a huge. Brand AND i
[42:30] Speaker 2: kind of feel that Like Kansas, city it's like if
[42:33] Speaker 2: they have a bad draft or they have, injuries they're
[42:36] Speaker 2: just so. SMART i, mean, OWNER gm, president, quarterback like
[42:42] Speaker 2: everybody's AN a to AN a. Plus SO i JUST
[42:45] Speaker 2: i think the last couple of years it's they can't
[42:47] Speaker 2: figure out the offensive. LINE i watch him the last
[42:49] Speaker 2: four weeks to average thirty two a. GAME i just
[42:52] Speaker 2: they look different than everybody. Else, OKAY i want to
[42:56] Speaker 2: wrap with. This SO i always thought the greatest athlete
[43:00] Speaker 2: not the most. Dominant serena is probably the most, dominant
[43:03] Speaker 2: Or Michael phelps and swimming is the most, Dominant Usain.
[43:07] Speaker 2: Bolt but the greatest ATHLETE i THOUGHT i had ever
[43:09] Speaker 2: seen was a guy Named Carl. Lewis So Carl lewis
[43:12] Speaker 2: was in track and. Field it was a very unique,
[43:14] Speaker 2: personality not really appealing to the, MASSES i. Guess but
[43:17] Speaker 2: in nineteen eighty four he goes to The La, olympics
[43:20] Speaker 2: and he wins one hundred, meters the two hundred, meter
[43:22] Speaker 2: the long, JUMP i, mean winning any of those. Sensational
[43:25] Speaker 2: he wins all of, them and he wins a four
[43:26] Speaker 2: by one, hundred so he wins like four. Golds then
[43:29] Speaker 2: he goes To soeul in eighty eight and he mostly duplicates.
[43:32] Speaker 2: It then he goes To barcelona in ninety two and
[43:34] Speaker 2: he mostly duplicates. It and forget The PanAm games or
[43:38] Speaker 2: The Goodwill games or The World championships In tokyo And
[43:41] Speaker 2: helsinki And, Stuttgarten rome or wherever they. Are then he
[43:44] Speaker 2: comes back To atlanta in ninety, six starts in eighty
[43:49] Speaker 2: four ninety. SIX i, mean there was just like a
[43:51] Speaker 2: twelve year. Period it Was, PanAm, Goodwill World, Championships. Olympics
[43:56] Speaker 2: he was dominated in. Everything and Then i'm Watching Tawny
[44:00] Speaker 2: friday And i'm, Like, Babe ruth did not pitch and hit.
[44:04] Speaker 2: Simultaneously and remember the split. Finger fastball kind of came
[44:10] Speaker 2: into baseball in the seventies or eighties With Bruce. Souiter
[44:12] Speaker 2: Remember Bruce, suer he pitched for The cardinals And. Cubs
[44:14] Speaker 2: he was a relief. Pitcher he want to sigy up
[44:16] Speaker 2: and he was A he was the first guy to
[44:18] Speaker 2: throw a split finger. Fastball Babe ruth didn't face that
[44:21] Speaker 2: stuff that those guy's in the twenties and thirties and forties,
[44:24] Speaker 2: fifties they weren't facing split finger. Fastball For otani to
[44:27] Speaker 2: walk into this, sport to be a power, hitter to
[44:31] Speaker 2: have that speed to hit for, average to be a dominant.
[44:36] Speaker 2: Ace he may have one of the top five splitters in.
[44:39] Speaker 2: Baseball his, fastball he punches Out Jackson curio in the
[44:42] Speaker 2: first inning at one. Hundred all of his off speed
[44:45] Speaker 2: breaking stuff is above. Average it's very. Good then he
[44:48] Speaker 2: hits it out of the. Stadium BUT i was sitting
[44:50] Speaker 2: there watching And i'm, like, think how Good Reggie jackson.
[44:53] Speaker 2: WAS i, Mean Reggie jackson Was World series MVP's iconic
[44:58] Speaker 2: five hundred and fifty pl home. Runs Reggie jackson was
[45:01] Speaker 2: a terrible, fielder didn't run the, bases not a good.
[45:05] Speaker 2: TEAMMATE i think O toanni is the greatest Athlete i've ever.
[45:08] Speaker 2: SEEN i, Mean Michael jordan wasn't a great. Passer he
[45:12] Speaker 2: wasn't a great deep ball. Shooter he was a great
[45:14] Speaker 2: offensive mid range, player rest relentless and a great on ball.
[45:18] Speaker 2: Defender But i'm Watching o'tani And i'm.
[45:21] Speaker 1: Like he's a top top eight.
[45:24] Speaker 2: PITCHER i, mean he's a top base stealer when he wants.
[45:30] Speaker 2: TO i JUST i sat there watching And i'm, Like
[45:34] Speaker 2: jesus to just be an elite. Pitcher, hell guys can't stay.
[45:39] Speaker 2: Healthy Snell, glass No, dodgers nobody can stay. HEALTHY i
[45:45] Speaker 2: just watching that, GAME i, thought this is the greatest
[45:47] Speaker 2: single Athlete i've ever seen in any. Sport that was
[45:50] Speaker 2: my take on.
[45:50] Speaker 3: It, well it's definitely the greatest game that's ever been.
[45:52] Speaker 3: Played ten, strikeouts three home runs in THE, Nlcs, like
[45:56] Speaker 3: that's something you see the kid in little league that's
[45:58] Speaker 3: going to be on all the travel. Teams that's years.
[46:00] Speaker 3: Old you wouldn't Even you'd be hard pressed to find
[46:03] Speaker 3: that in high, school you. KNOW i THINK la this
[46:05] Speaker 3: year had a couple guys who were drafted in the top,
[46:07] Speaker 3: ten like high school. PLAYERS i would be shocked because
[46:11] Speaker 3: typically now that they focus on, one they're not playing both.
[46:14] Speaker 3: Ways so if the guy's in the league, pitcher he's just.
[46:16] Speaker 3: Pitching if the guy's an leite hit or he's just playing.
[46:17] Speaker 3: SHORTSTOP i vividly remember when he first started playing For,
[46:22] Speaker 3: anaheim because you had heard all this hype and The
[46:24] Speaker 3: giants tried to sign him coming out Of. JAPAN i
[46:26] Speaker 3: didn't realize how tall and fast he, was AND i
[46:29] Speaker 3: remember like a ball that most power hitters do not
[46:32] Speaker 3: make it a. Second he not only made it a,
[46:33] Speaker 3: second he was there.
[46:34] Speaker 2: With ease and he went holy.
[46:36] Speaker 3: Shit but you see that guy's If Shoheo tani was
[46:39] Speaker 3: born In Los angeles Or, Dallas texas or.
[46:41] Speaker 4: Something he's probably a quarterback right. Potentially he's six foot,
[46:46] Speaker 4: five two hundred and ten.
[46:47] Speaker 3: Pounds he's definitely playing a lot of different sports growing.
[46:50] Speaker 3: Up who, knows maybe basketball as. WELL i mean maybe
[46:53] Speaker 3: because he's athletically he's an elite. Athlete, yes you, know
[46:57] Speaker 3: you watch The. Yankees it's like the other players looked the.
[47:00] Speaker 3: Same you watched THE i remember two years ago going
[47:02] Speaker 3: to a spring training game With maria and we had
[47:06] Speaker 3: really good seats AND i was, LIKE i, Thought Mookie
[47:08] Speaker 3: betts is an outfielder and he's playing short and second.
[47:11] Speaker 3: Base i'm, like this is. Insane it's like this GUY
[47:14] Speaker 3: i THOUGHT i thought he played like right field in center,
[47:16] Speaker 3: field he can play shortstop and he had to play
[47:18] Speaker 3: in this series that looked Like Grek jeter is, like
[47:21] Speaker 3: so they're two best. Players AND i, saw you, Know
[47:25] Speaker 3: Matt Muney, smith he, yeah Called charger games with him
[47:28] Speaker 3: AND dj came. DOWN i played golf with them like last.
[47:30] Speaker 3: Year BUT i saw this clip that he posted Interviewing
[47:33] Speaker 3: Andrew friedman and he's, like what do you say to
[47:35] Speaker 3: everyone saying you just bought this? Team and he's, like
[47:38] Speaker 3: we play all these teams that have all these star player,
[47:41] Speaker 3: players AND i see none of them out, early you,
[47:44] Speaker 3: know three o'clock in the. Afternoon you come out and
[47:46] Speaker 3: you watch The Dodgers Mookie, BETTS, shoeo all of our star,
[47:49] Speaker 3: Players Freddie freeman are doing extra work Like Peyton, Manning
[47:53] Speaker 3: Tom Brady Tiger wood.
[47:54] Speaker 4: Style so it's like this isn't random their.
[47:56] Speaker 3: Greatness obviously they have freak, talents but like clearly from
[48:02] Speaker 3: a team building, standpoint like really they kind of got
[48:06] Speaker 3: like A patriot vibe going like they're all just it's,
[48:09] Speaker 3: like this is a serious. Group now obviously show, hey you,
[48:12] Speaker 3: know because he didn't pitch that well this, year no,
[48:14] Speaker 3: grant he was coming back out the. Injury but he's
[48:16] Speaker 3: got a pitch like that and hit like. That it's,
[48:18] Speaker 3: like there's never been that home. Run, Listen i'm A
[48:21] Speaker 3: Barry i'm A giants fan at. Heart that's A Barry
[48:24] Speaker 3: bonds level home run on the cream and the clear With, balco,
[48:27] Speaker 3: RIGHT i, mean that's that was That that was. Insane
[48:31] Speaker 3: how far that ball you can see? It do you
[48:33] Speaker 3: remember When barry hit the ball Against anaheim in the
[48:36] Speaker 3: Two World series AND i Think Tim salmon was in
[48:38] Speaker 3: The it was in the dugout and he, mouthed that's
[48:41] Speaker 3: the farthest Ball i've ever seen. Hit, obviously you Know
[48:43] Speaker 3: barry was kind of a mutant by. Then The dodgers
[48:46] Speaker 3: faces in the dugout all kind of had that. VIBE i,
[48:48] Speaker 3: Know i've never seen a ball hit this far.
[48:50] Speaker 2: Ever, yeah it's just it's just remarkable to watch. Him and,
[48:55] Speaker 2: one you, Know i've said, THIS i think The dodgers
[48:57] Speaker 2: are the best run organization In North. America Mack monci
[49:01] Speaker 2: The a's cut. HIM i, Mean Tommy edmund was a
[49:05] Speaker 2: two sixty hitter In Saint. Louis he was a good.
[49:07] Speaker 2: Fielder cardinals were, like we don't want to pay. Him
[49:10] Speaker 2: he was THE NLCS. MVP i, Mean glassno's always had
[49:13] Speaker 2: good stuff six, seven but he can't stay. Healthy so let,
[49:16] Speaker 2: mean there's no question they can. Roll what The dodgers
[49:19] Speaker 2: biggest advantage isn't just like Oh otani because other teams
[49:23] Speaker 2: could have paid for, Him but great players want to
[49:26] Speaker 2: play for The dodgers Because otani comes UP i five
[49:29] Speaker 2: to The. Dodgers he has better people hitting in front
[49:31] Speaker 2: of him and behind, him and the pressure isn't for
[49:34] Speaker 2: him to go four for. Four Oh tani had a
[49:36] Speaker 2: terrible series until that Game. Friday he couldn't. Hit SO
[49:40] Speaker 2: i think it's it's like one of these. Things there's
[49:42] Speaker 2: a reason five star players want to go play For
[49:45] Speaker 2: Ohio state Or georgia because you're surrounded by better, players,
[49:49] Speaker 2: Right and it's like that if you're a great Like
[49:51] Speaker 2: Freddie freeman was playing For, atlanta but it's, like look
[49:53] Speaker 2: who's hitting in front of, Me look who's hitting behind?
[49:55] Speaker 2: Me you get better?
[49:56] Speaker 3: Pitches WELL i would say, this you would Say otani
[49:59] Speaker 3: and move he. Bets you, Know manny And poppy were incredible,
[50:04] Speaker 3: power but neither of them could. RUN i mean it's
[50:06] Speaker 3: got to be when you talk about all around. Game
[50:08] Speaker 3: the two most talented players that have ever played. TOGETHER i,
[50:11] Speaker 3: mean how do you beat that offensively and. Defensively you've
[50:14] Speaker 3: seen a lot of these duos one two just. MASH
[50:17] Speaker 3: i bet you Know mannel And garrig if we go
[50:20] Speaker 3: back to the history of the, sport but we've never
[50:22] Speaker 3: seen two guys that are this good on. Defense and
[50:24] Speaker 3: one guy can pitch ten strikeouts against the team that
[50:27] Speaker 3: just won ninety seven. Games it's not like he's playing
[50:29] Speaker 3: a team that won eighty. GAMES i mean that team
[50:31] Speaker 3: was weren't The brewers Of? Powerhouse and then they go
[50:33] Speaker 3: like a month without losing a, game.
[50:36] Speaker 2: Six six nothing in the regular. Season the volume
