[1:29] Speaker 2: in Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, New Jersey, Ohio, Tennessee,
[1:32] Speaker 2: or Virginia to play. Terms and conditions apply. Concerned about
[1:35] Speaker 2: gambling in Florida, call one eighty eight admit it. In Indiana,
[1:38] Speaker 2: if you are somebody you know as a problem wants help,
[1:40] Speaker 2: call one eight hundred and nine with it gambling problem
[1:43] Speaker 2: called one eight hundred Gambler. Arizona Colorado, Illinois, New Jersey, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia.
[1:53] Speaker 2: Odds via hard Rock Bet Chargers at the Patriots, Chargers
[1:57] Speaker 2: plus three, So New England the favorite would probably lean
[2:01] Speaker 2: take the points with the Chargers. Now, this is interesting.
[2:05] Speaker 2: Bill's minus one according to hard Rock Bet at the Jaguars.
[2:09] Speaker 2: I like the Jaguars, and I think they can pound them. Now,
[2:12] Speaker 2: I will say, I know Buffalo has been a weird
[2:15] Speaker 2: team that week to week. You know, you get really
[2:18] Speaker 2: good halves really bad halves. I think Jacksonville is completely legit.
[2:23] Speaker 2: I think they're the third or fourth best team in
[2:25] Speaker 2: the league. For them to be at home as an underdog,
[2:30] Speaker 2: to me feels incredibly disrespectful. I get the offensive coach
[2:35] Speaker 2: Trevor Lawrence isn't turning it over. I think I would
[2:38] Speaker 2: take Jacksonville by a touchdown, what say you?
[2:41] Speaker 3: I get they were playing the Titans today, But man,
[2:44] Speaker 3: they look good and I just counted they They've won
[2:47] Speaker 3: eight straight games and Trevor looks fantastic. There is no
[2:50] Speaker 3: disputing I mean, you could make the argument they're playing
[2:53] Speaker 3: as well as any team in the league. I think
[2:56] Speaker 3: now in terms of in terms of like momentum in
[2:59] Speaker 3: terms of both sides of the ball, the coaching staff,
[3:02] Speaker 3: how well the quarterback looks historically though, you know, I
[3:07] Speaker 3: mean this, that's where the Bills are a unique team
[3:09] Speaker 3: going to the They do have a guy that if
[3:11] Speaker 3: he's on, can just take over a game, but just
[3:14] Speaker 3: based on the way they're playing, it'd be hard to go.
[3:17] Speaker 1: Against the Jags.
[3:18] Speaker 3: I mean, there's there's just the Jags can win the
[3:20] Speaker 3: Super Bowl because the AFC is pretty wide open. The
[3:24] Speaker 3: Texans are probably one of the scarier teams. They're comfortable
[3:27] Speaker 3: playing them right there in the division, so they've seen
[3:29] Speaker 3: that personnel. It's not like Denver and New England are
[3:32] Speaker 3: unbeatable squads. So I would say Jacksonville haven't seen the
[3:37] Speaker 3: odds of them to win the AFC. But if they
[3:39] Speaker 3: get by the Bills, to me, they are very very
[3:41] Speaker 3: live to win the AFC. The hurdle because there's gonna
[3:45] Speaker 3: be some weird pressure on the Jags.
[3:47] Speaker 1: They're at home.
[3:48] Speaker 3: They're taking on this guy who's most considered when he's
[3:51] Speaker 3: on the best player in the NFL. If they if
[3:53] Speaker 3: they are able to slay that dragon, I can see
[3:56] Speaker 3: the Jags win the AFC for sure.
[3:59] Speaker 2: Remember Buffalo is a very weird first half team. They
[4:02] Speaker 2: play from behind. Now today they didn't against the hapless Jets.
[4:08] Speaker 2: But you get down like I would take the Jags
[4:11] Speaker 2: in the first half. You get down to Jacksonville and
[4:16] Speaker 2: you know, good luck. They have a pass rush. So again,
[4:19] Speaker 2: Buffalo has trailed, I think in six of their last
[4:21] Speaker 2: eight games in the second half. They're not a fast
[4:23] Speaker 2: starting team.
[4:24] Speaker 1: John.
[4:24] Speaker 2: When you go on the road, regular season or playoffs
[4:28] Speaker 2: or college football, when you go on the road, you
[4:30] Speaker 2: have to start quickly. Like Seattle at San Francisco took
[4:33] Speaker 2: command of the game first tribe, You're like, okay, okay,
[4:36] Speaker 2: the crowds not a factor. Buffalo go on the road,
[4:40] Speaker 2: get down fourteen to three, fourteen to nothing like that.
[4:43] Speaker 2: Thing could go sideways fast. Jacksonville's a much better starting
[4:47] Speaker 2: team with an offensive coach in scripted plays. You know,
[4:51] Speaker 2: this is nothing against McDermott, but a team as good
[4:53] Speaker 2: as Buffalo shouldn't trail six of eight games in the
[4:56] Speaker 2: second half in a water down AFC. Jacksonville's a rough
[5:01] Speaker 2: matchup for them. Now, there's no odds yet the Texans
[5:06] Speaker 2: will go either to Baltimore or Pittsburgh, and I think
[5:09] Speaker 2: they will control both. My guess is the Texans would
[5:12] Speaker 2: go on the road and be like a two and
[5:14] Speaker 2: a half point favorite at Baltimore at Pittsburgh. I really
[5:19] Speaker 2: like the Texans. I think you and I both feel this.
[5:22] Speaker 2: You know, you just forget they keep making the playoffs
[5:26] Speaker 2: and c J. Strouds won't playoff games like Demiko Ryans
[5:30] Speaker 2: is like Mike McDonald. You know, do you talk to
[5:33] Speaker 2: you guys around the league like Mike McDonald And Demiko
[5:36] Speaker 2: Ryans is defensive coaches. Jesse Mentor is a defensive coordinator.
[5:40] Speaker 2: They're just different, and I I gotta tell you the
[5:45] Speaker 2: one team I would not want to play is the Texans.
[5:48] Speaker 2: Could you know they're going to be the underdog. Nobody's
[5:51] Speaker 2: pulling form outside of Houston. I don't care if they
[5:54] Speaker 2: play the Ravens and the Steelers. I like the Ravens
[5:56] Speaker 2: tonight close. Where are you on that?
[5:59] Speaker 1: I think they match you.
[6:00] Speaker 3: I think the Steelers would have no shot against them,
[6:03] Speaker 3: you know, because Rogers running away not possible. That they're
[6:06] Speaker 3: passing games atrocious. I guess DK's back. They can't really.
[6:09] Speaker 1: Run the ball.
[6:10] Speaker 3: The one way to neutralize a good pass rush would
[6:12] Speaker 3: be to run the ball, Derrick Henry's come alive of late.
[6:16] Speaker 3: You know, depending on Lamar, you know, whether he if
[6:19] Speaker 3: he ends up playing to night, how he looks, if
[6:21] Speaker 3: he's healthy for that game, just poses a problem.
[6:25] Speaker 1: To me.
[6:25] Speaker 3: The Ravens are a tougher matchup than the Steelers, but
[6:28] Speaker 3: I beat either.
[6:30] Speaker 1: And if they win that game, they are like the Jags.
[6:34] Speaker 3: I mean, you could argue two teams that are going
[6:37] Speaker 3: to surprise nobody if they're sitting in there in the
[6:39] Speaker 3: AFC with a chance to win the conference. Is the
[6:41] Speaker 3: Jags and the Texans. Their physicality, the coaching staff, their mentality.
[6:47] Speaker 3: I mean, I've loved Houston. I listen, I thought Houston
[6:49] Speaker 3: was a lock to win the division coming into the season. Obviously,
[6:52] Speaker 3: the Jags have had an incredible season. When your defense
[6:55] Speaker 3: is that good, you can beat anybody.
[6:57] Speaker 1: You know.
[6:58] Speaker 3: And look and look at this, Drake May second year player,
[7:00] Speaker 3: Bo Nick, second year player. It's like they're going to
[7:02] Speaker 3: be intimidated playing those two guys. Right, Drake's a better
[7:05] Speaker 3: player than bo Knicks, but look who.
[7:07] Speaker 1: He's throwing to.
[7:08] Speaker 3: I mean, they have elite dB play in Houston, So
[7:11] Speaker 3: to me, what they do translates to all the opponents
[7:14] Speaker 3: they're gonna see. You know, they've they've beaten the Jags
[7:18] Speaker 3: with their backup quarterback. Remember they were down like twenty
[7:20] Speaker 3: nine ten and came storming back in that game. So
[7:22] Speaker 3: I think of all the wild cards that we're going
[7:25] Speaker 3: to talk about, maybe the Rams once we get to
[7:28] Speaker 3: the NFC, the Texans would have the best chance to
[7:30] Speaker 3: be representing their conference of the wildcard teams in.
[7:32] Speaker 1: The Super Bowl.
[7:33] Speaker 2: Totally agree. You know, Denver, we've seen this in college
[7:36] Speaker 2: football where a bye doesn't necessarily work in football. Like,
[7:41] Speaker 2: if you're like Seattle young athletic, they needed to play,
[7:45] Speaker 2: They're going to get a bye. Denver's gonna get a buye.
[7:47] Speaker 2: I think those two teams, I think they'd want to play.
[7:51] Speaker 2: I think if I'm Seattle after that, yeah, I want
[7:54] Speaker 2: to get back out there and play. Denver's in a
[7:56] Speaker 2: weird spot. I mean, here's where Denver gets a big break.
[8:00] Speaker 2: Houston warm weather team, JAG's warm weather team. You know,
[8:05] Speaker 2: the New England would be fine, but you know you
[8:07] Speaker 2: can see Jacksonville that already beat Denver right going back
[8:11] Speaker 2: to Denver and it's eight degrees. You could absolutely see that.
[8:15] Speaker 2: So it's like in a weird way sometimes losing you know,
[8:19] Speaker 2: that game to Jacksonville. Now, okay, I get us see
[8:22] Speaker 2: what they do. Now, let's play them again when it's
[8:24] Speaker 2: really cold, really windy. So that Denver does have a
[8:28] Speaker 2: not just an altitude, but a little bit of a
[8:30] Speaker 2: wind advantage against you know, a cold weather advantage against
[8:34] Speaker 2: potentially the Chargers, the Jags, and the Texans. I think
[8:37] Speaker 2: that'll be understated, but it's something. It's a couple of
[8:40] Speaker 2: points to me.
[8:41] Speaker 1: They like Seattle.
[8:42] Speaker 3: There are only so many teams in the NFL that
[8:44] Speaker 3: have collegiate like atmospheres that it is a massive home
[8:47] Speaker 3: field advantage, and Denver clearly is one. The altitude and
[8:50] Speaker 3: the crowd is just elite. I mean, you watched that
[8:53] Speaker 3: Lway documentary and it's just that place. When it's rocking Peyton,
[8:56] Speaker 3: Manning and those it's a They've beaten Brady there countless
[8:59] Speaker 3: time over the decades with Shanahan to when Elway was
[9:03] Speaker 3: the GM. So when you look at the AFC, that
[9:06] Speaker 3: to me is a point of difference for Denver like Jacksonville.
[9:10] Speaker 3: You know, let's say Jacksonville and Buffalo end up playing
[9:12] Speaker 3: Saturday night, It'll look pretty good in the dark night.
[9:15] Speaker 3: But I would say Jacksonville some home field advantage. Houston
[9:18] Speaker 3: does not have one. The Chargers don't have one. Denver
[9:21] Speaker 3: in the pass obviously throughout the years. I mean that
[9:24] Speaker 3: is a point of you know, that's a huge it's
[9:26] Speaker 3: been a massive advantage for Andy and the Chiefs over
[9:29] Speaker 3: the last five or six years, playing all those games
[9:31] Speaker 3: Arrowhead Collegiate like atmosphere cold that these teams. I mean,
[9:35] Speaker 3: there's no way to prepare when you're playing in seven
[9:38] Speaker 3: degrees because you can be like, okay, we'll practice outside, well,
[9:40] Speaker 3: you won't get anything done. So that's where coaches like
[9:43] Speaker 3: they'll go outside for a minute and then they'll go
[9:44] Speaker 3: in the bubble because they they want to you know,
[9:47] Speaker 3: get the game plan installed, be able to communicate. No
[9:50] Speaker 3: one can listen because you can't focus. So to me, Denver,
[9:54] Speaker 3: the home field advantage is on their side. But when
[9:56] Speaker 3: you watch and play.
[9:57] Speaker 1: Somethings off, they don't. They don't really.
[10:00] Speaker 3: Oh and bo Nicks that one game he played against
[10:02] Speaker 3: Green Bay was incredible. But even today and I get it,
[10:05] Speaker 3: the Chargers have a good defense of mentality. You just
[10:08] Speaker 3: what's going on here?
[10:09] Speaker 1: You'd like a little more juice.
[10:10] Speaker 3: That's the one thing the Patriots have. They get easier opponents,
[10:14] Speaker 3: but they roll them. They get so much momentum so
[10:17] Speaker 3: that the confidence that quarterback has compared is bo Nick's
[10:20] Speaker 3: confident or does he just keep telling me he's confident
[10:22] Speaker 3: because I watch him play. Doesn't always play confident where
[10:25] Speaker 3: Drake may plays pretty swaggy.
[10:27] Speaker 1: As the kids would.
[10:28] Speaker 2: Say, NFC Seattle gets the buy again. I don't think
[10:32] Speaker 2: Seattle would want the buy young dominating performance against San Francisco.
[10:37] Speaker 2: We'll get to that in a bit. So let's look
[10:39] Speaker 2: at the NFC all these odds via the hard Rock Bet. Okay,
[10:43] Speaker 2: we'll start with this. The Rams would be a five seed.
[10:45] Speaker 2: They're going to Carolina. Carolina is going to be hosting
[10:49] Speaker 2: a playoff game, which is absurd. It's the second time
[10:52] Speaker 2: they face the Rams in a month. They beat him before,
[10:55] Speaker 2: and they beat him down the field. You can beat
[10:56] Speaker 2: the Rams over the top. It's an average corner situation
[11:00] Speaker 2: for them. Rams are a ten and a half point favorite.
[11:03] Speaker 2: This is one of these where like today I took
[11:05] Speaker 2: the Rams as a seven and a half point favorite
[11:07] Speaker 2: against Arizona. I'm like, it's just too many possessions Arizona's quit.
[11:11] Speaker 2: I think the Rams win this game. I would stay away.
[11:14] Speaker 2: I don't like giving up ten and a half to
[11:16] Speaker 2: a home playoff team, but I watched the Panthers yesterday.
[11:19] Speaker 2: Like you, you know, it's one of those things where Bryce
[11:24] Speaker 2: Young you're either a franchise quarterback, a backup, or you
[11:27] Speaker 2: could argue you're a bridge quarterback. I'd argue that Bryce
[11:30] Speaker 2: Young feels like a bridge quarterback. He's a little small.
[11:33] Speaker 2: I couldn't build around him, but you could play him
[11:36] Speaker 2: as a starter for a year. He just won the division.
[11:38] Speaker 2: I mean he backed into it. But my take is
[11:41] Speaker 2: the Rams should be favored. There's such an odd team
[11:45] Speaker 2: for considering they have McVeigh weapons in Stafford. They start
[11:49] Speaker 2: slow a lot. They put Arizona away in the second half.
[11:54] Speaker 2: Any strong feeling there, I was.
[11:55] Speaker 3: The second half that they were up twenty three twenty
[11:57] Speaker 3: going into the fourth quarter.
[11:59] Speaker 1: I mean, I thought Rams looked terrible.
[12:01] Speaker 3: McVeigh had this look on his face that looked like
[12:04] Speaker 3: if we lose this game and lose the opportunity to
[12:06] Speaker 3: play the NFC South winner, I might just go to Amazon.
[12:10] Speaker 3: You could see it on it like this is because
[12:12] Speaker 3: they look kind of lifeless. Jacoby Brissett hit this bomb
[12:16] Speaker 3: down the sideline and it got caught back, and that's
[12:18] Speaker 3: kind of where the game stopped the momentum for Arizona
[12:21] Speaker 3: because it felt like Arizona could score on them every
[12:24] Speaker 3: single time. And you're like, I thought part of the Rams
[12:26] Speaker 3: deal was their defense, And I started thinking, whatever happened
[12:30] Speaker 3: that night in Seattle when Seattle came storming back, they
[12:33] Speaker 3: lost their mojo. I mean they I know, they came back.
[12:36] Speaker 3: Last morning. They were down twenty one to nothing at
[12:38] Speaker 3: half on the road to Atlanta. I mean, I watched
[12:40] Speaker 3: Atlanta today. They're not you know, I know they got
[12:43] Speaker 3: some good players, but give me a break, especially when
[12:45] Speaker 3: you're trying to play for seating like they were last week.
[12:48] Speaker 1: That was an important game.
[12:49] Speaker 3: Sean mcvage took that and they were down twenty one nothing.
[12:52] Speaker 3: My opinion has changed dramatically on the Rams. I am
[12:54] Speaker 3: not as against Carolina for sure. I mean we need
[12:58] Speaker 3: to enact something. If you under five hundred, you should.
[13:01] Speaker 1: Not be able to host a playoff game.
[13:03] Speaker 3: That's sort you could make the argument that you shouldn't
[13:06] Speaker 3: even be eligible for the playoffs. If other teams Minnesota
[13:09] Speaker 3: the Lions. Some of these other teams have better records
[13:11] Speaker 3: than you.
[13:13] Speaker 2: Yeah, I think there's an argument to be made that
[13:15] Speaker 2: if you're under five hundred, you can make the playoffs,
[13:17] Speaker 2: you can't host a playoff game. I'd be five back, Yeah,
[13:22] Speaker 2: so would I. You know, the Rams, I've watched every
[13:24] Speaker 2: snap really all year long. And you see it with Goff,
[13:30] Speaker 2: you see it with Kirk Cousins, and you see it
[13:31] Speaker 2: with Stafford. When you do not have a mobile quarterback
[13:36] Speaker 2: as good as Stafford is, John, you can't roll the pocket.
[13:40] Speaker 2: You don't get those sort of off script third and
[13:43] Speaker 2: seven runs for first downs. There's about six to seven
[13:46] Speaker 2: times a game that a San Francisco or a Seattle
[13:50] Speaker 2: can roll the pocket. Pretty did it a couple times yesterday.
[13:55] Speaker 2: Sam did it once yesterday. You get those four or
[13:57] Speaker 2: five first downs a game because you're orderback is mobile,
[14:01] Speaker 2: or you can or you can escape when you have Golf,
[14:04] Speaker 2: when you have Stafford, when you have Cousins, If the
[14:07] Speaker 2: play that's designed doesn't work, it can get sideways. It
[14:13] Speaker 2: can be an ugly loss. And I feel like sometimes
[14:16] Speaker 2: the Rams get into these cycles where they've run.
[14:18] Speaker 1: Through their scripted stuff.
[14:20] Speaker 2: They're there, you know, now it's McVeigh on the play
[14:24] Speaker 2: sheet looking for some new wiggles, and they stall out.
[14:28] Speaker 2: They have these quarters where they stall out, where again,
[14:33] Speaker 2: if I'm Shanahan, I can just start going to boot stuff.
[14:37] Speaker 2: Darnold does a lot of that. You start doing bootstuff.
[14:39] Speaker 2: You can do a little bit of that with Stafford.
[14:42] Speaker 2: But I do feel like watching the Rams, they're susceptible
[14:45] Speaker 2: in the back end. I mean, they got a big
[14:47] Speaker 2: break on that deep ball down the field that was
[14:49] Speaker 2: caught by Wilson and there was a penalty and it
[14:52] Speaker 2: was a legitimate pedally against an Arizona offensive lineman.
[14:55] Speaker 3: But will Wilson was all killing them today.
[14:57] Speaker 1: I mean, Wilson was left and.
[14:59] Speaker 2: Right and I feel a little bit like the Rams.
[15:03] Speaker 2: This is why they need to, you know, at some
[15:05] Speaker 2: point get a mobile quarterback because their backups are Jimmy
[15:08] Speaker 2: Garoppolo and Stetsan Bennett. Those guys don't move either. I
[15:11] Speaker 2: just feel like this offense, for all the talent, stalls out. Well.
[15:14] Speaker 3: I think one thing to derail the offense because it
[15:16] Speaker 3: had kind of become and in its peak earlier in
[15:19] Speaker 3: the season. You know, like when you think back Denver
[15:21] Speaker 3: with Peyton Manning. They had so many weapons. I mean,
[15:24] Speaker 3: when you have Davante and Puka Nakula, no one has
[15:26] Speaker 3: better than that. I think DeVante led the league for
[15:29] Speaker 3: receivers in touchdowns when he got injured. I don't know,
[15:31] Speaker 3: I haven't looked at it today, but up until leading
[15:33] Speaker 3: up to this week, that's how dominant he was in
[15:36] Speaker 3: the red zone. So you factor him and with Pooka,
[15:38] Speaker 3: who feels like the averages double digit catches a game,
[15:41] Speaker 3: and then all their other just auxiliary weapons are kind
[15:43] Speaker 3: of an unstoppable offense.
[15:44] Speaker 1: Will you remove him? It puts so much pressure on
[15:47] Speaker 1: Pooka and Nakula.
[15:48] Speaker 3: There are other weapons are fine, but they get elevated
[15:51] Speaker 3: into kind of taking over for DeVante and it becomes
[15:53] Speaker 3: a little more difficult. Now, like you said, over the
[15:57] Speaker 3: course of the game, Arizona just fell off. I mean,
[15:59] Speaker 3: they have a million injuries. They're rolling on Michael will
[16:02] Speaker 3: Trey McBride's a good player, but they got a lot
[16:04] Speaker 3: of random guys out there. I do think the health
[16:07] Speaker 3: of DeVante, if you tell me he's fully healthy. They
[16:09] Speaker 3: get by the Panthers, then they are I mean, obviously
[16:13] Speaker 3: a very very potent team coming into the playoffs, but
[16:15] Speaker 3: if you remove him, they are liable to lose to
[16:17] Speaker 3: anybody not naming the Panthers. And the one thing about Carolina,
[16:21] Speaker 3: unlike a lot of the Southern teams, like obviously Tampa
[16:23] Speaker 3: can rain, Carolina and Tennessee are two areas in the
[16:26] Speaker 3: South that can get cold. I mean, it could just
[16:29] Speaker 3: be a weird cold weather game. Well that could just
[16:33] Speaker 3: make it weird. Now I'd be stunned if they won,
[16:35] Speaker 3: but I could see if the weather's weird, you just
[16:36] Speaker 3: never know.
[16:37] Speaker 1: It's a long flight.
[16:39] Speaker 2: Also, t Mac and Laguette are big, long targets. The
[16:46] Speaker 2: Rams corners are small. They've they've been beaten down the
[16:49] Speaker 2: field by large targets. So Carolina's got the kind of reversus.
[16:53] Speaker 2: AJ Brown is a nightmare matchup for the Rams. And
[16:58] Speaker 2: Carolina's got two long, athletic receivers, so you can see
[17:03] Speaker 2: them backdoor covering it scoring at some point. I just
[17:07] Speaker 2: I kind of feel when I watch Carolina they just
[17:11] Speaker 2: they Dan Morgan the GM. They need six more draft
[17:14] Speaker 2: picks and one more free agents free agent.
[17:20] Speaker 1: Month.
[17:20] Speaker 2: They just don't have enough good players. Okay, the forty
[17:23] Speaker 2: nine ers, a six seed, go to Philadelphia Philadelphia a
[17:32] Speaker 2: three seed and the Eagles are a touchdown favorite. All right,
[17:39] Speaker 2: so if Ricky Pierson and Trent Williams play both missed
[17:42] Speaker 2: the Seattle game, I think the Niners are a live dog.
[17:46] Speaker 2: But I will say Philadelphia can create pressure. And I
[17:50] Speaker 2: said this going into the Seattle game. I took the
[17:52] Speaker 2: Seahawks this weekend. Is that if you speed rock pretty up,
[17:57] Speaker 2: it's not a great old line, it's a solid old line.
[17:59] Speaker 2: If you speed brock pretty up, you have a chance
[18:03] Speaker 2: to make a few more mistakes. He wasn't very comfortable
[18:06] Speaker 2: against Seattle. I do think he's cut down on the mistakes.
[18:09] Speaker 2: I think he's had a hell of a year when
[18:10] Speaker 2: he's healthy. I would take Philadelphia to win. I'm not
[18:13] Speaker 2: sure if i'd take him to cover. But I do
[18:16] Speaker 2: feel like if you go look at the Niners. I
[18:18] Speaker 2: looked it up today. Since week six, John, they've lost
[18:21] Speaker 2: to the Texans Rams in Seattle. If you have an
[18:24] Speaker 2: elite defense, you have such a defensive advantage over them
[18:28] Speaker 2: because they don't create any pressure. Sam Darnold was very
[18:30] Speaker 2: comfortable and Sala has to take big risks with blitz
[18:34] Speaker 2: packages to create any kind of rush, and the Texans
[18:38] Speaker 2: rams and Seattle beat him without having to do that,
[18:41] Speaker 2: and Philadelphia will get somewhat of a pass rush without
[18:44] Speaker 2: having to bring extra bodies and compromise the secondary. So
[18:47] Speaker 2: if you look at what the Niners have done since
[18:50] Speaker 2: Week six, they're wins. They're not beating teams with the
[18:53] Speaker 2: elite level defenses because they can't offer that. They just
[18:56] Speaker 2: like when you watch that Seattle game, it was thirteen
[18:58] Speaker 2: to three, but it didn't feel like that. It felt
[19:01] Speaker 2: like twenty seven to three. It didn't feel that competitive.
[19:04] Speaker 1: Yeah, they they got murdered.
[19:06] Speaker 3: The Niners proved they're like an NBA team that wants
[19:09] Speaker 3: to play in the one twenties and one thirties, that
[19:11] Speaker 3: they want to get into a high flying game where
[19:13] Speaker 3: they can score a bunch of points and just get
[19:16] Speaker 3: to a position close to the end of the game
[19:17] Speaker 3: and hopefully they're coaching. And they did it against Colts,
[19:19] Speaker 3: and they did it against the Bears.
[19:21] Speaker 1: I mean they.
[19:21] Speaker 3: Scored they won a game forty eight or forty two
[19:24] Speaker 3: to thirty eight. I mean that's how they wanted to play.
[19:27] Speaker 3: And the question was could they get and win a
[19:29] Speaker 3: game if it was like seventeen to fifteen, because that's
[19:32] Speaker 3: what that game last night.
[19:33] Speaker 1: Was going to be.
[19:34] Speaker 3: And their defense is really really bad, and they lost
[19:37] Speaker 3: their two linebackers last night, so I have no clue. Now,
[19:40] Speaker 3: the Eagles are the most talented team that can look
[19:44] Speaker 3: the most incompetent for stretches, probably in my lifetime. I mean,
[19:47] Speaker 3: they have so much elite talent on their team it's crazy.
[19:50] Speaker 3: And they got a quarterback who can run, so to me,
[19:53] Speaker 3: if they just have a competent game plan, there's no
[19:55] Speaker 3: way the Niners can stop them, and their defense with
[19:58] Speaker 3: Fangio is more than competent enough to just slow them down.
[20:02] Speaker 3: The other thing the Niners. What Seattle did last night
[20:04] Speaker 3: is run a classic Kyle Shanahan in their peak teams
[20:08] Speaker 3: game plan. We're gonna shove the ball down your throat
[20:10] Speaker 3: running the ball, and we're gonna hit you so hard
[20:13] Speaker 3: on every play.
[20:13] Speaker 1: We'll just wear you down.
[20:15] Speaker 3: The scores in their heyday doesn't the scores weren't always blowouts,
[20:20] Speaker 3: but we're gonna smother you.
[20:23] Speaker 1: Basically played a Shanahan game.
[20:27] Speaker 2: How many Niners last night, I don't remember. I remember
[20:30] Speaker 2: one Seahawk being slow to get up. There had to
[20:33] Speaker 2: have been six different forty nine ers that literally got
[20:36] Speaker 2: either went to the tent or stayed on the ground.
[20:40] Speaker 2: I mean, Seattle beat San Francisco up for three and
[20:45] Speaker 2: a half hours, and and pierceall and Trent didn't play.
[20:49] Speaker 2: Kittle did. He's still remarkable. I just feel like the Niners,
[20:54] Speaker 2: the gig is up east, They're out of bodies. There's
[20:59] Speaker 2: just nothing they can do. I think Philadelphia arrested a
[21:01] Speaker 2: lot of their guys. Philadelphia. I mean just I don't know.
[21:05] Speaker 2: I just don't think San Francisco's got the AMMO.
[21:08] Speaker 3: I will say this, and I know the way the
[21:11] Speaker 3: Eagles in that building internalized stuff they do have. They
[21:15] Speaker 3: think obviously most people do really highly of Kyle. That
[21:19] Speaker 3: is not just an easy coaching staff. We talked about
[21:21] Speaker 3: Jim Harbaugh getting you just get Kyle Shanahan and Robert
[21:24] Speaker 3: Sala in the first round. Now, there's only so much
[21:26] Speaker 3: Robert Sala can do. But Kyle just got embarrassed. You know,
[21:30] Speaker 3: probably in front of thirty thirty five million people. They
[21:33] Speaker 3: are gonna have some stuff that they're gonna bring to Philadelphia.
[21:36] Speaker 1: And here's the other thing.
[21:37] Speaker 3: If you can just make it a little weird, right,
[21:42] Speaker 3: maybe ten to seven year up at halftime, that place
[21:44] Speaker 3: will start boooning you because they already don't really like
[21:47] Speaker 3: this team like they don't because they're not an entertaining
[21:50] Speaker 3: team to watch. So if you can get them tight,
[21:54] Speaker 3: that place can get tight. Because this ego season has
[21:57] Speaker 3: been weird. If I would have told you this today,
[22:01] Speaker 3: the Bears were gonna lose, he would have said, oh,
[22:03] Speaker 3: the Eagles are playing Washington even with their backups.
[22:05] Speaker 1: The Eagles will be the two seed.
[22:07] Speaker 3: And I look, the Eagles lose. How's that?
[22:10] Speaker 1: How do you lose? With the Bears losing?
[22:11] Speaker 3: If I would have been Sirianni and I look up
[22:14] Speaker 3: and they're down sixteen to nothing, I'm on the headsets. Hey,
[22:16] Speaker 3: we got to dial. We had a chance to be
[22:17] Speaker 3: the two seed.
[22:18] Speaker 1: That's multiple home games.
[22:20] Speaker 3: That is a massive, massive advantage. They know what they
[22:23] Speaker 3: I mean, They've been the one seed multiple times. They
[22:25] Speaker 3: understand the power of playing home games in the playoffs.
[22:28] Speaker 3: Now they might have to go on the road.
[22:30] Speaker 2: I when I do my herd hararchy, when I do
[22:34] Speaker 2: my herd hierarchy on Tuesday, I never know what to
[22:36] Speaker 2: do with Philadelphia.
[22:37] Speaker 1: I don't trust them at all.
[22:38] Speaker 2: I don't know what I don't know what to do
[22:40] Speaker 2: with them. I love their talent, I don't know what
[22:41] Speaker 2: to do with them.
[22:42] Speaker 3: So I think all the pressure there is on Philly
[22:46] Speaker 3: and Sirianni and we just know that place. Yes, and
[22:50] Speaker 3: that's I don't know the game times yet, but i'd
[22:52] Speaker 3: be I mean, that's got like Sunday Night Football written
[22:54] Speaker 3: all over it.
[22:55] Speaker 1: Right.
[22:56] Speaker 2: If you told me Pierceaal and Trent Williams and kill play,
[23:01] Speaker 2: that's a good live dog. They'll score, they'll they'll they'll score.
[23:05] Speaker 2: But God, and you know that of all the games
[23:12] Speaker 2: we've talked about. So let's transition to this Green Bay
[23:16] Speaker 2: seven seed Bears, two seed. Yet the Bears have a
[23:19] Speaker 2: two game losing streak going into the playoffs. It is
[23:22] Speaker 2: according to hard Rock Bet, it is a pick em.
[23:25] Speaker 2: It is a pick em. Now here's the advantage for
[23:28] Speaker 2: the Bears. With Micah Parsons out. They don't generate much
[23:33] Speaker 2: of a pass rush, right. They got to they got
[23:35] Speaker 2: to scheme it up like solid. They've got to take
[23:37] Speaker 2: some chances, compromise the back end of their defense. I
[23:40] Speaker 2: think I like the Bears in this spot. You know
[23:43] Speaker 2: it's watching them today, I almost felt like they were overconfident.
[23:47] Speaker 2: Like they knew they were in the playoffs. Then all
[23:49] Speaker 2: of a sudden in the fourth quarter, you're like, okay, touchdown,
[23:52] Speaker 2: two point conversion. Touchdown two point conversion for the record,
[23:56] Speaker 2: Colston Lovelin and Caleb Williams, it is a thing now
[23:59] Speaker 2: like Holston had a day to day Luther Burden and
[24:03] Speaker 2: colst At Luther Burden and Caleb that's better now. So
[24:07] Speaker 2: I like Chicago in this spot. Again, it's a little
[24:10] Speaker 2: bit of ammo. Green Bay kind of limps into it.
[24:14] Speaker 2: Would would you roll the dice and take the Bears here?
[24:17] Speaker 1: I would say both the Eagles and the Bears.
[24:20] Speaker 3: If you would have told them, hey, you get home
[24:22] Speaker 3: playoff game first round.
[24:23] Speaker 1: You're the two and three.
[24:24] Speaker 3: Seed, you know six months ago, but you have to
[24:26] Speaker 3: play the Green Bay Packers and the San Franco forty
[24:28] Speaker 3: nine ers, they both would have been like, are you
[24:30] Speaker 3: kidding me? I think part of it is watching the
[24:33] Speaker 3: Bears game today. I give them a little bit of
[24:36] Speaker 3: a pass. They have this devastating loss right to the
[24:39] Speaker 3: forty nine ers on Sunday Night football. You're in the playoffs,
[24:43] Speaker 3: you're guaranteed a too or you're guaranteed a home game.
[24:45] Speaker 3: Young team, but their defense, Colin is not very good.
[24:48] Speaker 3: It might be a little bit better than the forty
[24:50] Speaker 3: nine ers. There are a lot of parallels there. They're
[24:52] Speaker 3: for the forty nine ers and the Bears are kind.
[24:55] Speaker 1: Of carbon copies of each other.
[24:57] Speaker 2: They gave them four hundred and forty yards to Detroit
[24:59] Speaker 2: today in bad weather.
[25:00] Speaker 3: There were guys wide open whatever Jared Goff was, Saint
[25:03] Speaker 3: Brown coming across the middle, Jamis and William coming across
[25:05] Speaker 3: the middle.
[25:06] Speaker 1: Their dB play that they give up a lot of yards.
[25:09] Speaker 1: We just saw the.
[25:09] Speaker 3: Niners score a bunch of points on them. Now can
[25:13] Speaker 3: Green Bay take advantage of it? It feels like every time
[25:15] Speaker 3: I look up Green Bays playing and meaningless game. They
[25:16] Speaker 3: got guys on the ground, so they have a ton
[25:18] Speaker 3: of injuries that their defense is really banged up. Their offense,
[25:22] Speaker 3: you know it is Malik Willis a better option right
[25:25] Speaker 3: now than Jordan Love don't. I don't know, but I
[25:27] Speaker 3: mean they got a lot of question marks in that organization.
[25:29] Speaker 3: You got a coach playing for you know, coaching for
[25:31] Speaker 3: a contract extension. But that is a weird. There's not
[25:34] Speaker 3: a Bears fan you live around a lot of them.
[25:36] Speaker 3: Now they're comfortable with that matchup. You've had this magical season.
[25:40] Speaker 3: You're the freaking two seed and you get the Green
[25:43] Speaker 3: Bay Packers. Even if they come limping in and everyone's
[25:46] Speaker 3: gonna be picking you, that's the thing.
[25:47] Speaker 1: Everyone's gonna be picking the Bears.
[25:49] Speaker 3: I could just see that thing can get weird as well.
[25:52] Speaker 3: That I'd say the Packers technically not a dog, but
[25:55] Speaker 3: a live dog in that situation for being a team
[25:57] Speaker 3: that no one's gonna pick.
[25:58] Speaker 2: You know, with Chicago, they have a playmaker at safety.
[26:03] Speaker 2: They have eleven catches almost one hundred and fifty yards
[26:06] Speaker 2: to on Sat Brown.
[26:07] Speaker 1: He was wide dominating.
[26:10] Speaker 2: Yeah, and if you look at the NFC, DeVante Adams
[26:13] Speaker 2: will be back. Aj Brown will be back San Francisco
[26:16] Speaker 2: with Piersall and Jennings those guys. Those guys are playmakers.
[26:20] Speaker 2: So Chicago's the kind of team that they're. You know,
[26:24] Speaker 2: they remind me a little of the Rams, where I
[26:27] Speaker 2: don't trust the back end of their defense. They can
[26:30] Speaker 2: really unimpress you. And then you look up and the
[26:34] Speaker 2: Bears in the Rams can put two or three drives
[26:36] Speaker 2: together in a row in the second half and you're like, okay,
[26:38] Speaker 2: all right, this is explosive. I mean Caleb still makes throws.
[26:42] Speaker 2: I mean he made a couple today on those two
[26:44] Speaker 2: scoring drives.
[26:45] Speaker 1: Like he is.
[26:47] Speaker 2: He is, so he's got a physical confidence. Like when
[26:50] Speaker 2: he rolls back to throw and he's in, he's rolling
[26:52] Speaker 2: to his right, he's toying with the defensive players, he's
[26:55] Speaker 2: just kind of playing with him. He's going back and forth.
[26:57] Speaker 2: He's totally If Stafford rolls right, he's not controlling it.
[27:01] Speaker 2: He's waiting for somebody to quickly get open. When when
[27:05] Speaker 2: Caleb rolls right, he he could do a high school
[27:08] Speaker 2: pivot and say I'm gonna run backwards. I'm just gonna
[27:10] Speaker 2: buy something like Josh Allen does that occasionally. Like guys,
[27:13] Speaker 2: I'm controlling this situation. I think I like Chicago in
[27:17] Speaker 2: this spot. I really do like how Colston Loveland and
[27:20] Speaker 2: Caleb have really created something special. Like today, it was incredible.
[27:25] Speaker 2: Every big play at was Colston Loveland. They really used
[27:28] Speaker 2: their tight ends. Cole comet at a two point conversion.
[27:30] Speaker 3: Two, that place is going to be pretty special on
[27:33] Speaker 3: that in that game. I mean, that's that's we're talking
[27:35] Speaker 3: about home field advantage. They haven't once, they haven't made
[27:39] Speaker 3: the playoffs in a while. Definitely haven't made the playoffs
[27:43] Speaker 3: as a team people think can win a couple of games.
[27:46] Speaker 3: It's that that atmosphere a couple of weeks ago when
[27:50] Speaker 3: they played Green Bay had to be one of the
[27:51] Speaker 3: more special games of the year just in terms of
[27:53] Speaker 3: watching it on TV as a viewer. I think there's
[27:56] Speaker 3: a chance that place is absolutely I mean, it's going
[27:59] Speaker 3: to be rocking. It's going to be really really cool.
[28:02] Speaker 3: And can they feed into that and maybe that helps
[28:03] Speaker 3: the defense out a little bit. They just they have
[28:06] Speaker 3: probably less injuries than Niners, and their talent on defense
[28:09] Speaker 3: is just not great. You know, the front seven is
[28:11] Speaker 3: not that good. They don't have a great pass rusher.
[28:14] Speaker 3: They basically just got to score a bunch of points.
[28:24] Speaker 2: Will he worked in Chicago radio for a long time.
[28:26] Speaker 2: Now he's on FS one career as Sunchon. Been fun
[28:29] Speaker 2: to see. His name is Danny Parkins. So Saturday a
[28:33] Speaker 2: friend of mine in California, he said, Hey, I take
[28:37] Speaker 2: my son to a game every year, and we know
[28:41] Speaker 2: you live in Chicago. Do you want to go to
[28:43] Speaker 2: the Bears game? I said, it's going to be thirty
[28:45] Speaker 2: mile hour wind gusts and snowing He's like, it'll be
[28:47] Speaker 2: so much fun, and I said, when you live in it,
[28:51] Speaker 2: it's really not that fun, Like I don't ski anymore. So,
[28:55] Speaker 2: but it is interesting when I look at that Packer game.
[28:58] Speaker 2: What I think is fascinating is usually when the Packers
[29:01] Speaker 2: play in a playoff game, they are the story, and
[29:04] Speaker 2: it's a total Bear story. Ben Johnson, Caleb the Bears
[29:09] Speaker 2: are literally what everybody is watching for. And my theory
[29:13] Speaker 2: is the lousy weather benefits the Bears because they have
[29:18] Speaker 2: one of the best run games. The Packers run game
[29:20] Speaker 2: isn't as good. The Bears have a better run game,
[29:22] Speaker 2: a better old line, and I would argue the ability
[29:26] Speaker 2: for Caleb to just take off is actually usually the
[29:31] Speaker 2: more skilled offense is at a disadvantage when the weather stinks,
[29:36] Speaker 2: and I actually think it plays into the bears favor
[29:39] Speaker 2: And I like Chicago this weekend, and I think they're
[29:42] Speaker 2: the second best bet on the board after Jacksonville.
[29:46] Speaker 1: So yeah, a lot there. Caleb's best game of the
[29:49] Speaker 1: season and arguably his career, was against Cleveland and their
[29:53] Speaker 1: defense was very good this year and it was the
[29:56] Speaker 1: coldest game at Soldier Field in like twenty years. His
[30:00] Speaker 1: arm is ridiculous, ridiculous. So they now Jordan Love's got
[30:04] Speaker 1: a very he's got a plus arm.
[30:06] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[30:06] Speaker 1: So, but like bad conditions should impact Caleb less than
[30:13] Speaker 1: other players because of his like physical gifts. And then
[30:17] Speaker 1: everything else you said is absolutely true. Home field, offensive line,
[30:21] Speaker 1: run game, all of those things. Green Bay's defense also,
[30:25] Speaker 1: you know, they've lost four straight. Micah got hurt four
[30:29] Speaker 1: games ago. They have three sacks and no interceptions in
[30:32] Speaker 1: their last four games down the stretch. That's the Jets.
[30:36] Speaker 1: The Jets have four sacks and no interceptions. They're the
[30:38] Speaker 1: only other team in that spot. They're giving up twenty
[30:40] Speaker 1: eight a game. Like the pack The Bears defense is
[30:43] Speaker 1: not good, but they lead the league in takeaways, like
[30:46] Speaker 1: they do make plays. The Packers defense, since losing Micah,
[30:51] Speaker 1: is just bad. They don't sack the quarterback, they don't
[30:53] Speaker 1: turn you over. They give up a lot of points.
[30:55] Speaker 1: So they're just bad and not even opportunistic. But before
[30:58] Speaker 1: we get into any more hardcore Access knows football, I'm going,
[31:04] Speaker 1: oh my god, Colin, you didn't even text me back.
[31:07] Speaker 1: I texted you and said, hey, I'm flying in Saturday morning,
[31:10] Speaker 1: do you want to grab lunch? And now I'm going
[31:13] Speaker 1: with my with my buddies and we're gonna get lunch.
[31:15] Speaker 1: So unless you want to come hang out with some
[31:16] Speaker 1: of us as we start boozing, you're more than welcome.
[31:20] Speaker 1: But Colin, I hate going to NFL games. Hate it.
[31:23] Speaker 1: It's expensive. People fight, Yeah, the traffic is miserable. I
[31:28] Speaker 1: think it's crazy that this game ended up on Saturday
[31:31] Speaker 1: instead of on Sunday. And there's been great reporting as
[31:34] Speaker 1: to like how the TV networks divvied up these games
[31:37] Speaker 1: and why Prime got the excellent game that is Bear's Packers.
[31:40] Speaker 1: But when I saw that it was Saturday night in
[31:42] Speaker 1: Chicago and I could fly in Saturday morning, fly back
[31:45] Speaker 1: to New York Sunday morning, be back in time to
[31:48] Speaker 1: watch all the Sunday games and go and not miss
[31:51] Speaker 1: anything by going to this Bears Packers game, this is
[31:54] Speaker 1: going to be a special thing. Like it's going to
[31:56] Speaker 1: be uncomfortable, it's going to be cold, but I I
[31:59] Speaker 1: havered double seats. I am right behind the Bears bench
[32:03] Speaker 1: like so I'm out in the elements, but like first
[32:05] Speaker 1: row behind the Bears bench. I have not been this
[32:08] Speaker 1: excited to go to an NFL game since I was
[32:10] Speaker 1: like a child like, I am very, very excited to
[32:14] Speaker 1: be there. It's because because your friend is correct, like,
[32:17] Speaker 1: it's going to be a it's gonna be an experience.
[32:22] Speaker 1: It's gonna be miserably cold and windy. I'm actually rooting
[32:27] Speaker 1: for it to be cold because I don't want it
[32:29] Speaker 1: to be If it's gonna I don't want it to
[32:30] Speaker 1: be rain like. I'd much rather it be snowing than rain. Yeah,
[32:34] Speaker 1: just for like comfort in the stadium. So if it's
[32:37] Speaker 1: like thirty three in raining, that's gonna be miserable, give
[32:39] Speaker 1: me twenty three in snow. Yeah, the thirty rain. But
[32:43] Speaker 1: I don't know. There's good Bears Packers Soldier Field, Bears
[32:47] Speaker 1: as the two seed, feeling like we are not out
[32:50] Speaker 1: coached and we are not out quarterbacked. I remember watching
[32:54] Speaker 1: football for the first time in nineteen ninety two, being
[32:56] Speaker 1: six years old. My old my dad, and my older
[32:59] Speaker 1: brother raised in Wisconsin, diehard Packers fans. Ninety two is
[33:03] Speaker 1: Brett Favre's first year in Green Bay. I've never seen
[33:07] Speaker 1: the Bears have a better quarterback than the Packers my
[33:10] Speaker 1: whole life. So the idea that like this game could
[33:15] Speaker 1: be like the beginning of the rivalry being real, and
[33:19] Speaker 1: that's the floor where the ceiling is like passing of
[33:22] Speaker 1: a torch to like an era of the Bears being
[33:25] Speaker 1: the hammer and the Packers being the nail. I'm just
[33:28] Speaker 1: I'm so excited for this game. I had to be there.
[33:30] Speaker 2: Well, you know, one of the things about running a
[33:36] Speaker 2: Northern tier team, and I've said this for years, Danny,
[33:39] Speaker 2: there's never been a dome dynasty in the NFL. There's
[33:42] Speaker 2: never been a warm weather dynasty.
[33:45] Speaker 1: I mean, Dan, that's interesting.
[33:46] Speaker 2: Yeah, Dan Marino, one of the Cowboys. Uh, go there
[33:50] Speaker 2: in the winter. It's not that warm, it's it's you know,
[33:53] Speaker 2: they've got I went to a Super Bowl there were ice,
[33:55] Speaker 2: sheets of ice were falling off the stadium.
[33:58] Speaker 1: That was yes, sure, yes, okay.
[34:00] Speaker 2: So I don't consider I consider warm you know, Miami, Arizona,
[34:06] Speaker 2: an LA team, Jacksonville, there's never been a warm weather dynasty.
[34:13] Speaker 2: And so the NFL success has gone through cold, crappy weather.
[34:17] Speaker 2: And I was thinking about this the other day. Ben
[34:20] Speaker 2: Johnson's a real sharp guy. Ben Johnson. I think New
[34:25] Speaker 2: Listen it's not named the Windy City because of the win.
[34:29] Speaker 2: That's because of politicians years ago. Nonetheless, and Baltimore's always
[34:33] Speaker 2: done this, and New England did this. Don't worry too
[34:38] Speaker 2: much about deep threats. They went and got a center,
[34:40] Speaker 2: two guards, and a tight end and a slot receiver.
[34:44] Speaker 2: And why those guys can operate under sixteen yards? Now,
[34:50] Speaker 2: Caleb has a power arm. But even if you have
[34:52] Speaker 2: a power arm Saturday, it may not matter. And I
[34:56] Speaker 2: think what one of the quiet pieces of Ben Johnson,
[34:59] Speaker 2: unst dated pieces of Ben Johnson's brilliance. He built this
[35:03] Speaker 2: team to play in crappy weather. This is an excellent
[35:07] Speaker 2: crappy weather team. For the record, so is Philadelphia Saquon Barkley,
[35:12] Speaker 2: good tight ends, excellent O line. So Seattle, by the way,
[35:17] Speaker 2: Darnald big arm. They went and drafted a tight end,
[35:20] Speaker 2: two running backs, really only one receiver. So I think,
[35:23] Speaker 2: what makes you you know we always think of Green Bay.
[35:27] Speaker 2: I mean Green BAYO is far of big arm, Aaron
[35:29] Speaker 2: big arm, Love big arm, Flacco big arm, Lamar not
[35:33] Speaker 2: so much Mahomes big arm. I think Chicago is if
[35:38] Speaker 2: the weather is lousy for the next three weeks. I
[35:42] Speaker 2: think the Bears are completely built for you. For the record,
[35:45] Speaker 2: Detroit wasn't where Ben was at because Gof's not good
[35:48] Speaker 2: in that weather, but they were they were indoors. So
[35:51] Speaker 2: I always feel like when golf goes outside, the odds change.
[35:55] Speaker 2: So I know a lot of people go back and forth,
[35:58] Speaker 2: but I in the last twelve hours, I'm like big Jacksonville,
[36:01] Speaker 2: Big Chicago, and I do like Mike Tomlin Monday now
[36:06] Speaker 2: that DK Metcalf comes back. So those are the three
[36:09] Speaker 2: I feel strongest about. Do you have two to three
[36:12] Speaker 2: that you really feel most strongly about?
[36:15] Speaker 1: Well, so one that you didn't mention is my favorite,
[36:18] Speaker 1: and it's Chargers plus three and a half. Wow, I think, yeah,
[36:23] Speaker 1: so you and j Mack love that. So I don't
[36:26] Speaker 1: know if I love that. No, Like, obviously three in
[36:33] Speaker 1: the hook is a big deal. Like it's obviously a
[36:36] Speaker 1: very important number in the gambling space, So that is
[36:38] Speaker 1: a piece of it. I think Jacksonville wanted New England
[36:44] Speaker 1: because they know, Okay, two of our most expensive players
[36:49] Speaker 1: and two of our best players Alton Slater, are out
[36:52] Speaker 1: for the year. You take two of the four highest
[36:55] Speaker 1: paid players off any team, it's going to decimate him. Yes,
[36:58] Speaker 1: Now you say they play the same position and their
[37:03] Speaker 1: job is to protect your most expensive and important player,
[37:06] Speaker 1: and it's a death blow, like anyone who has been
[37:09] Speaker 1: hit the number of times that Herbert has been hit,
[37:13] Speaker 1: who has made the playoffs in the last thirty years,
[37:16] Speaker 1: They've all lost in the wildcard round, Like it is
[37:19] Speaker 1: supposed to be a fatal flaw of a team if
[37:22] Speaker 1: you can't stop your quarterback from getting hit. Well, New
[37:27] Speaker 1: England's defense is not good. They're statistically okay in some areas,
[37:33] Speaker 1: but they haven't played anybody, and when you dig into
[37:36] Speaker 1: it just a little bit, like good quarterbacks have been
[37:39] Speaker 1: efficient against them and have at least moved the ball,
[37:42] Speaker 1: and their pass rush numbers are not good. Now a
[37:45] Speaker 1: lot of that is, you know, they don't even really
[37:48] Speaker 1: need to. They're not playing from behind, they're not gearing
[37:51] Speaker 1: up and going after it. There's some prevent stuff. There's
[37:53] Speaker 1: been a lot of blowouts. Sure, I'll concede that. But
[37:56] Speaker 1: I think Denver is a worst matchup for the Chargers.
[38:00] Speaker 1: I think Houston is a worst matchup.
[38:02] Speaker 2: For Houston's a bad matchup.
[38:04] Speaker 1: Yeah, no doubt. Denver's pass rush almost beat the eighty
[38:08] Speaker 1: four Bears record, right, I mean the Chargers beat them
[38:13] Speaker 1: in a twenty three to twenty game where Herbert was
[38:15] Speaker 1: incredible but he got hit and abused and sacked and
[38:18] Speaker 1: like he was. They were lucky to win that game.
[38:22] Speaker 1: But I just think that they looked at it and
[38:23] Speaker 1: they said, we'll rest our guys in week eighteen, and
[38:27] Speaker 1: we'll play a team that really hasn't played much of
[38:30] Speaker 1: anybody this year and will run on them, and we'll
[38:34] Speaker 1: protect Justin and Justin Herbert won't be staring at the
[38:37] Speaker 1: ceiling the whole game because their pass rush isn't great.
[38:40] Speaker 1: So I just I think New England having the easiest
[38:43] Speaker 1: schedule of any team since the ninety nine Rams is something,
[38:47] Speaker 1: and I think their pass rush not being very good
[38:50] Speaker 1: is something. And I think Herbert, like you do, is
[38:53] Speaker 1: a superstar. So I really like them to I think
[38:57] Speaker 1: they're gonna win the game, but I'll certainly take them
[38:59] Speaker 1: plus three and a half.
[39:00] Speaker 2: So I want to talk about the Lamar Jackson thing.
[39:03] Speaker 2: So listen, eighteen years is a long time to be
[39:06] Speaker 2: a CEO of a company like that's just a long time.
[39:09] Speaker 2: And the Harballs are They're intense, like intense personalities. Jim
[39:15] Speaker 2: and John I could see six eight years in and
[39:18] Speaker 2: San Francisco. You know, Jim was wearing people out and
[39:20] Speaker 2: Stanford he did, and I think this Jim is much
[39:23] Speaker 2: more chill. Maybe the Harballs need to get to sixty
[39:25] Speaker 2: and John Harball has never been quite as intense. But
[39:28] Speaker 2: I think John'll go win somewhere and Lamar will win.
[39:32] Speaker 2: But it is interesting with Lamar because I was saying
[39:36] Speaker 2: this today. They sat down with a meeting, and I
[39:40] Speaker 2: don't think the intent was to run John Harbaugh out.
[39:43] Speaker 2: But if you're John Harbaugh, you're like, Okay, listen, I
[39:46] Speaker 2: was eight and four in the playoffs pre Lamar. I'm
[39:48] Speaker 2: three and six with him. He's missed a full season
[39:51] Speaker 2: of games. I don't know what he actually is right
[39:55] Speaker 2: now because it's not what it used to be. And
[39:58] Speaker 2: Cam Newton's last Pro Bowl was at twenty like, but
[40:03] Speaker 2: Lamar is so wildly worshiped and loved in Baltimore. He's
[40:08] Speaker 2: unmovable and that and by the way, Mahomes is Alan
[40:11] Speaker 2: is Lamar is. You could move almost every quarterback and
[40:15] Speaker 2: I'm serious, there's about I mean, now, Herbert in LA
[40:18] Speaker 2: would be tough, but the truth is La is so chill,
[40:22] Speaker 2: you know. But I mean, like Lamar is on a
[40:24] Speaker 2: short list of you just can't move them. But my
[40:28] Speaker 2: point is what what what do you think next year?
[40:36] Speaker 2: Because remember, hyper athletic quarterbacks age faster. That's not disputable.
[40:41] Speaker 2: Old guys, Aaron, Stafford, Brady, don't you can play into
[40:45] Speaker 2: your fort I thought Aaron second half last week was
[40:47] Speaker 2: the best he's played in three years. I thought he
[40:49] Speaker 2: was outstanding. What do you think Lamar is going forward?
[40:54] Speaker 2: Because I think deep down he would never say it publicly,
[40:58] Speaker 2: but Lamar didn't throw out in all of Ranch when
[41:00] Speaker 2: he got fired, and that story got leaked to the
[41:05] Speaker 2: writer in Baltimore, and it didn't come from Lamar's side.
[41:08] Speaker 2: And my take is the untold story is Harbough asked
[41:13] Speaker 2: some questions about Lamar, like what are we going Ford?
[41:16] Speaker 2: He's got a seventy four million dollar capt My ask
[41:18] Speaker 2: to you is next year and beyond. Do you believe
[41:22] Speaker 2: Lamar is what we saw this year, a slower, more tackleable,
[41:27] Speaker 2: more defendable version of what he was three years ago.
[41:31] Speaker 1: Well, I mean, listen, he arguably should have won MVP
[41:34] Speaker 1: last year. You know, like it was a very close
[41:37] Speaker 1: MVP race with him and Josh Allen last year. So
[41:39] Speaker 1: we're not that far removed from Lamar. You know, he
[41:42] Speaker 1: was what forty one touchdowns and four picks or something stupid.
[41:45] Speaker 2: But again, athletic quarterbacks age fast. No, no, absolutely, Ben
[41:50] Speaker 2: just fell off a cliff.
[41:52] Speaker 1: Yeah, listen, I would not want to be tied to
[41:57] Speaker 1: Lamar for his thirties. But like he turned twenty nine today,
[42:03] Speaker 1: I think that it's totally reasonable to say his age
[42:06] Speaker 1: twenty nine, thirty thirty one thirty two seasons that you'd
[42:10] Speaker 1: be thrilled and could win a Super Bowl in two
[42:14] Speaker 1: of those four years, you know, like it. And so
[42:17] Speaker 1: because he has gotten better as a passer, I think
[42:20] Speaker 1: his what the next coach's biggest challenge is going to
[42:24] Speaker 1: be is figuring out how much of his improvement as
[42:29] Speaker 1: a passer was because teams had to defend against him
[42:33] Speaker 1: as a runner and Mike just like because like his
[42:36] Speaker 1: mobility makes you have to put in spies and keep
[42:39] Speaker 1: eyes on the quarterback and so that it makes it
[42:41] Speaker 1: easier to pass the football. He doesn't just drop back
[42:44] Speaker 1: and pass it like Matt Stafford, and he never will.
[42:47] Speaker 1: And so as that athleticism wanes, how much is his
[42:49] Speaker 1: passing efficiency going to wane? And my guess is a
[42:52] Speaker 1: significant amount. Ye Like, well, I don't think Lamar is
[42:55] Speaker 1: going to be. You know, I don't think he's gonna
[42:58] Speaker 1: win another MVP award, and I do think that he
[43:00] Speaker 1: will be good enough in the short term to be
[43:04] Speaker 1: competitive because of how talented that roster is and the
[43:07] Speaker 1: other like, because I think also what you're asking is, like,
[43:10] Speaker 1: how attractive is the Baltimore job. It's a great organization.
[43:14] Speaker 2: Oh, I think it's I think it's the best job
[43:17] Speaker 2: opening in for since since green Bay. But green Bay
[43:21] Speaker 2: doesn't have an owner and they've got their own obstacles
[43:23] Speaker 2: and things to deal with. I mean, green Bay third
[43:27] Speaker 2: year in a row, youngest team, why they don't sign
[43:28] Speaker 2: free agents much. So, right, Baltimore's as good a job
[43:32] Speaker 2: as that's been opening years.
[43:34] Speaker 1: I agree with you, But like if you are skeptical
[43:37] Speaker 1: of what Lamar is gonna be, and you're gonna have
[43:39] Speaker 1: to pay him seventy million dollars.
[43:40] Speaker 2: So I'm not skeptical. I think you get two more
[43:43] Speaker 2: really really high end years. But my guess is the
[43:47] Speaker 2: Lamar that was freakishly hard to corner, I don't think
[43:54] Speaker 2: we'll see that. I think we'll see highly effective eleven
[43:57] Speaker 2: and six can win the division. But I do think
[44:03] Speaker 2: I think it's a reasonable take that twenty nine years
[44:06] Speaker 2: old for his stylistically, I think he's got two really
[44:10] Speaker 2: good years left. I wouldn't bet on four. I think
[44:13] Speaker 2: at thirty three is not the same player.
[44:15] Speaker 1: I think, you know, I agree with that, and I said,
[44:17] Speaker 1: like two of the next four because you know, maybe
[44:21] Speaker 1: he hurts his back next year or whatever. But I
[44:23] Speaker 1: think I also think that athletes now they're just better, yeah, right,
[44:28] Speaker 1: And so I think we have to kind of like
[44:30] Speaker 1: it used to be, like running backs after twenty seven,
[44:32] Speaker 1: I don't want those guys now. Derrick Henry is still
[44:35] Speaker 1: a top six back in the NFL. You know. Now
[44:37] Speaker 1: he's an Adrian Peterson cyborg. But like Christian McCaffrey used to,
[44:42] Speaker 1: just higher than it's ever been. Like, we have to
[44:44] Speaker 1: like adjust it a little bit, like because Cam Newton
[44:49] Speaker 1: took hits in a way that Lamar doesn't take hits
[44:53] Speaker 1: right now, bigger athlete, but he was one yard touchdowns
[44:58] Speaker 1: Ben Roethlisberger low his shoulder. That's not what Lamar is.
[45:02] Speaker 2: Like.
[45:02] Speaker 1: You can still be just if you are a good
[45:04] Speaker 1: escape artist, even if you're not running to scramble, just
[45:07] Speaker 1: like running to evade the pressure, extend the plays. You
[45:10] Speaker 1: can still be effective. So yeah, two of the next
[45:12] Speaker 1: four years, I think you have a top ten quarterback
[45:16] Speaker 1: Lamar Jackson, and you can you can win a Super
[45:19] Speaker 1: Bowl with that, and then when you add in all
[45:21] Speaker 1: the other talent there, how well they draft. What coach
[45:24] Speaker 1: Manjini keeps talking about though, is he's like, what people
[45:26] Speaker 1: underrate is when you're there for eighteen years, it's not
[45:30] Speaker 1: like a coach who was there for three and gets fired.
[45:34] Speaker 1: He's like, you're you're either just doing more of what
[45:38] Speaker 1: John Harball was doing or you're changing everything. But the
[45:42] Speaker 1: pr was how Harball wanted it, the food was how
[45:45] Speaker 1: Harball wanted it, the training staff, all those things. So
[45:49] Speaker 1: I'm fascinated into, like the profile of who the next
[45:52] Speaker 1: coach of the Ravens is, Like, can it be a
[45:55] Speaker 1: first time head coach?
[45:56] Speaker 2: No I said this today. They don't need their culture change.
[45:59] Speaker 2: They have one of the best cultures. They need somebody
[46:01] Speaker 2: that works with Lamar as he ages Stefanski. Yeah, the
[46:06] Speaker 2: New York Giants need a Vabel, they need a culture changer.
[46:17] Speaker 2: This will probably go viral so years ago I forget
[46:22] Speaker 2: who was doing this, but somebody ranked the best thirty
[46:24] Speaker 2: dunks of all time, and they eliminated the Vince Carter
[46:29] Speaker 2: jumping over the Chinese national team center. So we're gonna
[46:34] Speaker 2: take that one out because it automatically wins. You jumped
[46:37] Speaker 2: over a seven foot man, and so somebody took that
[46:41] Speaker 2: out and started it. So I'm gonna take Andy Reid
[46:44] Speaker 2: out of this question because he's almost Belichickian. Now it's
[46:48] Speaker 2: sort of understood. It's silly. His resume is better his play.
[46:52] Speaker 2: So let's take Andy Reid out of this and let's
[46:55] Speaker 2: go rank the coaches until we get to Ben Johnson.
[47:02] Speaker 1: Okay, so I would go Max.
[47:04] Speaker 2: So, okay, I'm gonna go McVeigh one.
[47:07] Speaker 1: That's fine. Shanahan too, boy, Jim Harbaugh's good. Jim Harbor's good.
[47:15] Speaker 1: Jim Harbor Jim Jim Harbaugh is Jim Harbor is very good.
[47:19] Speaker 1: And I know, I know you love him.
[47:23] Speaker 2: Okay, here's why Shanahan gets docked for me? Okay, why
[47:27] Speaker 2: doesn't he come? Why is he bad? Second half trailing?
[47:30] Speaker 2: Because he has the best play sheet in the league,
[47:33] Speaker 2: and he gets glued to his play sheet. He has
[47:39] Speaker 2: the best he is that's that that is the most
[47:41] Speaker 2: sophisticated play sheet in the league, and the best play caller,
[47:44] Speaker 2: but he there are certain things, you know. I always
[47:47] Speaker 2: had my Aaron Rodgers theory. Why does he have so
[47:49] Speaker 2: few come from behind wins in the fourth fewer than
[47:52] Speaker 2: Derek Carr? Why because Aaron's mood changes after a pick
[47:57] Speaker 2: or two. He literally his mood changes, you can see it,
[48:01] Speaker 2: his body language changes. He has a bizarre few come
[48:06] Speaker 2: from behind wins. He I always said, he's not a
[48:09] Speaker 2: Foxhole guy. He is a baller but a little bit
[48:12] Speaker 2: of a Baylor.
[48:13] Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, but okay, I but I love this, so
[48:17] Speaker 1: I want to just like stay on it. Like the
[48:20] Speaker 1: guy went to a super Bowl with Jimmy Garoppolo and
[48:23] Speaker 1: rock Party. I feel like it's like that's the only
[48:26] Speaker 1: argument I need. Like Kyle Shanahan, if you can go
[48:29] Speaker 1: to a super Bowl with the last pick in the draft.
[48:33] Speaker 2: Okay, so you're putting him third, you're putting him second.
[48:36] Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, but okay, fine, okay, but my but my thing. Okay,
[48:40] Speaker 1: So now Harbaugh, Harbor wins everywhere he goes everywhere, is
[48:46] Speaker 1: a great culture guy. I don't know, man, I don't know.
[48:55] Speaker 1: Like Ben Johnson calls the plays, well, yeah, but can.
[48:59] Speaker 2: We can we have him go through a full season before.
[49:03] Speaker 1: I'm just saying, like Jim Harbaugh runs a little bit
[49:07] Speaker 1: too much for my liking, Like he kicks field goals
[49:09] Speaker 1: a little too often for my liking. Okay, I'm just
[49:12] Speaker 1: I'm just saying, like there's it's just it's a little
[49:16] Speaker 1: All I'm saying is we've reached the point of the list.
[49:22] Speaker 1: We've reached the point of the list where you're gonna
[49:24] Speaker 1: at least get me to start making some arguments for
[49:28] Speaker 1: my guys.
[49:28] Speaker 2: Okay, that's okay. So I'm like McVeigh, Harbaugh, Shanahan's lack
[49:34] Speaker 2: of second half comebacks bothers me. Shanahan third, Mike Rabel, four,
[49:39] Speaker 2: Sean Payton, I would probably I think Peyton's so good.
[49:44] Speaker 2: And by the way, it's all inches here to me,
[49:46] Speaker 2: like I it's inches, it's not feet.
[49:49] Speaker 1: And so I have a question about Mike Rabel. Okay,
[49:51] Speaker 1: I'm a question about Mike Rabel. He wins in Tennessee.
[49:57] Speaker 2: With that political bad ownership.
[50:00] Speaker 1: With with with Prime Derrick Henry and AJ Brown, yeah, and
[50:05] Speaker 1: Ryan Tannehill. I okay, but they had one great year
[50:11] Speaker 1: and it ended poorly, and yes there was politicking and
[50:14] Speaker 1: all of that he is clearly a smart coach. He
[50:17] Speaker 1: is clearly you know, he plays on the edges like Belichick,
[50:21] Speaker 1: Like he knows the rules backwards and forwards, which I
[50:23] Speaker 1: really respect. Josh McDaniels is a top offensive coordinator. Like
[50:29] Speaker 1: how lucky is that? And maybe it's not luck, it's
[50:31] Speaker 1: relationship and Patriots and all that stuff, but like he
[50:34] Speaker 1: has the best offensive coordinator situation you can have, because
[50:38] Speaker 1: it seems like Josh McDaniels can't be a head coach,
[50:41] Speaker 1: right but he's clearly Like if we were going to
[50:43] Speaker 1: say best play callers in the game, and again we're
[50:47] Speaker 1: removing Andy Reid, like Josh McDaniels is probably in the
[50:49] Speaker 1: top five, right Like he Josh McDaniels is. I think he's.
[50:54] Speaker 2: I think he's probably he and Brian Floores are the
[50:56] Speaker 2: best coordinators in the game right now.
[50:58] Speaker 1: Yeah, Well, so, just like you gave him an incredible
[51:01] Speaker 1: quarterback and an incredible play caller, and an incredible play caller,
[51:04] Speaker 1: won't leave because he can't be a head coach. I
[51:06] Speaker 1: just I'll just tell you this right now. I wouldn't
[51:09] Speaker 1: trade Ben Johnson for Mike Rabel. Okay, that one wouldn't
[51:12] Speaker 1: be hard.
[51:12] Speaker 2: Okay, so the difference between you and I. I get
[51:16] Speaker 2: to seven and I'm willing to consider Ben Johnson, So
[51:19] Speaker 2: I go McVeigh, Jim Harbaughs, Shanahan, Peyton Vrabel, and Mike McDonald.
[51:25] Speaker 2: Mike McDonald took over. I think he's I think he's
[51:28] Speaker 2: McVeigh on the defensive side. So I get to seven,
[51:33] Speaker 2: and I could argue, I like Demiko Ryans, but I
[51:36] Speaker 2: do prefer offense over defense. I would go Ben Johnson
[51:40] Speaker 2: seven and then Demko Ryans eight, and then I'd probably
[51:44] Speaker 2: go I mean, we have to put Mike Tomlin in
[51:46] Speaker 2: there because goddamn one is division again.
[51:49] Speaker 1: It's so I would the who am I missing?
[51:54] Speaker 2: Now?
[51:54] Speaker 1: Listen, you know some people would say Matt Lafleur, he's good.
[52:01] Speaker 1: I would good. I would take I would take Ben
[52:03] Speaker 1: Johnson over him. Listen, I think I think not. It's
[52:07] Speaker 1: very early, but well, Liam Cohen is doing and Jacksonville's very,
[52:11] Speaker 1: very impressive.
[52:11] Speaker 2: I would like him to finish the season.
[52:13] Speaker 1: But I agree. Yeah, I'm just saying if I'm going
[52:15] Speaker 1: to have Ben Johnson up there, like, because I'm giving
[52:18] Speaker 1: Liam Cohen a lot of credit for what Baker did
[52:21] Speaker 1: you know? So like that.
[52:22] Speaker 2: Here's what's funny. Sean McDermott has a higher winning percentage
[52:25] Speaker 2: than Andy Reid and Belichick. I'm at nine and I
[52:27] Speaker 2: don't have Sean McDermott. That tells you the depth and coaching.
[52:31] Speaker 1: Yeah, and listen and Nick Sirianni has like the highest
[52:34] Speaker 1: win percentage ever and everyone's like, yeah, but it's a
[52:36] Speaker 1: super team, so like we can we can parse some
[52:38] Speaker 1: stuff here. Sean Payton's great. I would take Ben Johnson
[52:41] Speaker 1: because of age, like I think you have him for longer.
[52:46] Speaker 1: McDonald is incredible. McDonell. And what the Seahawks did in
[52:52] Speaker 1: that Week eighteen game against the Niners, Oh, it.
[52:54] Speaker 2: Was one of the more It's amazing it was only
[52:56] Speaker 2: thirteen to three because it felt thirty to three. That
[53:00] Speaker 2: is the knock I have on Seattle is that they
[53:03] Speaker 2: physically dominate teams. And in the last six weeks, you're like,
[53:08] Speaker 2: I feel like you left fourteen points on the yeah
[53:11] Speaker 2: on the floor.
[53:13] Speaker 1: Yeah that I mean that JSN is forty percent of
[53:16] Speaker 1: their offense, and you fully trust their court, Like, I
[53:18] Speaker 1: mean they clearly sometimes call plays to hide Donald making mistakes.
[53:23] Speaker 1: They'll like snap throw like one read throws like they'll
[53:28] Speaker 1: like roll them out left and look back right and
[53:29] Speaker 1: there's one and it's like throw it to him or
[53:31] Speaker 1: throw it away. So they they they they clearly don't
[53:35] Speaker 1: fully trust Donald, even though they say everything publicly, like
[53:37] Speaker 1: their actions in their play calling when he gets a
[53:40] Speaker 1: little shakey suggested. But yeah, McDonald doing that. I mean,
[53:44] Speaker 1: we looked it up on the show. Fewest yards ever
[53:49] Speaker 1: for a Kyle Shanahan offense since he'd been the head
[53:52] Speaker 1: coach in San Francisco, fewest rushing yards for McCaffrey since
[53:56] Speaker 1: he got with Shanahan, and tied for the fewest points
[54:00] Speaker 1: for Shanahan since he had been in San Francisco since
[54:02] Speaker 1: his first game. Shanahan's first game in San Francisco in
[54:06] Speaker 1: twenty seventeen, they scored three points and then they held
[54:09] Speaker 1: him to three points when they had been the number
[54:11] Speaker 1: one offense in football since week eleven when Purdy came back,
[54:15] Speaker 1: they were averaging thirty five. The game they play a
[54:17] Speaker 1: must win game against the division opponent they know, and
[54:19] Speaker 1: they get held to one hundred and seventy four yards
[54:21] Speaker 1: and three points. So, yeah, McDonald is excellent. Like to me,
[54:27] Speaker 1: the coach of the Year this year, is fascinating Vrabel,
[54:30] Speaker 1: Ben Johnson, Liam Cohen, McDonald's Shanahan with all the injuries,
[54:34] Speaker 1: there's you know, Peyton obviously getting the one seed. There's
[54:36] Speaker 1: big names, there's history. Guys McDonald's probably I think he
[54:41] Speaker 1: deserves it this year and that's over my guy, Ben Johnson.
[54:46] Speaker 1: The volume
