[0:17] Speaker 2: of combat sports with her first fight in nearly a decade.
[0:20] Speaker 2: She's fighting against fellow women's MMA pioneer Gina Carano, who
[0:24] Speaker 2: was one of the first combat sports stars to cross
[0:27] Speaker 2: over into the entertainment industry after going on a remarkable
[0:30] Speaker 2: MMA tear Then, Nate Diaz against Mike Perry is a
[0:34] Speaker 2: matchup that pits two of the sports toughest competitors. Diaz
[0:38] Speaker 2: is long known for his relentless pressure durability, dude is

[0:48] Speaker 2: other main event, we have Francis Nagano, who is widely
[0:51] Speaker 2: regarded as the hardest punisherm in MMA history, going up

[1:02] Speaker 2: Most Valuable Promotions and Netflix are putting it on Ron
[1:06] Speaker 2: de Rousi against Gina Carono live only on Netflix Saturday,
[1:10] Speaker 2: May sixteenth, at nine pm Eastern Standard time six pm
[1:14] Speaker 2: Pacific time. We try to bring him on at least
[1:21] Speaker 2: once once a month. I mean, I think that's reasonable.
[1:24] Speaker 2: I mean, he's he's a spot starter.
[1:27] Speaker 3: Come on, this is what having a buttering up your guests.
[1:33] Speaker 3: I'm available weekly. I'm still waiting for the regular rotation.
[1:38] Speaker 3: I'm not saying I'm an ace, but I'm a I
[1:41] Speaker 3: can I can start game three of a playoff series.
[1:45] Speaker 4: Come on, absolutely you can't. So I was just talking
[1:51] Speaker 4: about you to somebody in the industry. I'm not even
[1:53] Speaker 4: gonna get into it, but it was very complimentary.
[1:55] Speaker 3: So thank you.
[1:56] Speaker 2: There's a lot of peripheral things going on in basketball.
[2:02] Speaker 2: One of them we've talked about is Kevin Durant, and
[2:06] Speaker 2: I've always believed this to be true. Judge a person
[2:10] Speaker 2: by how relationships end, not how they start. Guys have
[2:14] Speaker 2: great opening lines at the bar, and then they don't text,
[2:18] Speaker 2: or they text when they break up. Like our President's boy.
[2:21] Speaker 2: They've got a great mission statement going into a war.
[2:24] Speaker 2: We can never get out of it, right, Like It's
[2:26] Speaker 2: just guys are really good with entrances and awful with exits.
[2:32] Speaker 2: I can argue now after the burner phone incident, which
[2:37] Speaker 2: is alleged but seems to be true, Kevin Durant's exit
[2:41] Speaker 2: in OKC, Golden State, Brooklyn, Phoenix, and Houston over five,
[2:47] Speaker 2: he's like bad break up boyfriend, Like there is something
[2:51] Speaker 2: to be said that. And this is the Aaron Rodgers
[2:56] Speaker 2: vibe I've always had. I know, most athletes aren't great lead,
[3:00] Speaker 2: but there is kind of an understanding. If you're the
[3:02] Speaker 2: best player on a team, you gotta kind of own
[3:07] Speaker 2: some of it. You just can't be guy who shows
[3:10] Speaker 2: up and hits buckets and watching. You know, Kevin Durant,
[3:15] Speaker 2: and it's almost like he the net rating was better
[3:18] Speaker 2: when he didn't play for Houston. And I've got to
[3:20] Speaker 2: be honest with you, it does affect the way I
[3:24] Speaker 2: look at him. It does ding his legacy.
[3:25] Speaker 3: A little bit to me, of course. I mean, listen,
[3:31] Speaker 3: I think that KD has a legit gripe with the
[3:34] Speaker 3: media for creating rings culture, him leaving and going to
[3:40] Speaker 3: Golden State winning rings and then us being like, yeah,
[3:44] Speaker 3: but those rings aren't that impressive, Like I get why
[3:47] Speaker 3: that would piss him off, and I do think that
[3:50] Speaker 3: that seemed to be some sort of breaking point with like,
[3:53] Speaker 3: all right, now I'm going to just really engage and
[3:56] Speaker 3: be very online and like kind of push back a
[4:00] Speaker 3: narrative stuff that he doesn't like. But sorry, Like I
[4:04] Speaker 3: don't hold those rings in as high of a regard.
[4:07] Speaker 3: You joined a super team that had already won, like
[4:09] Speaker 3: it's you were great, but like Janni's is more impressive,
[4:13] Speaker 3: Jokic's is more impressive. Like we've talked about that before.
[4:17] Speaker 3: He's gonna make All NBA this year, which is what
[4:19] Speaker 3: I think really does compliment complicated. He is going to
[4:22] Speaker 3: be now sixty five game rule, a little contribution to it,
[4:26] Speaker 3: but not really like that guy's a hooper. He showed up,
[4:30] Speaker 3: he played, and one hundred media members are going to
[4:34] Speaker 3: vote him as either being a top ten guy this
[4:36] Speaker 3: year or a top fifteen guy this year, depending on
[4:38] Speaker 3: if he makes second or third team. So if it
[4:41] Speaker 3: is done in Houston over the burner stuff, I will
[4:44] Speaker 3: get it because of chemistry. But I don't think this
[4:48] Speaker 3: is like Houston will be better without Kevin Durant. I
[4:51] Speaker 3: don't believe even though they were, they were better for
[4:53] Speaker 3: a couple of games against the Lakers in the playoffs.
[4:56] Speaker 3: I don't he is still an awesome basketball but maybe
[5:00] Speaker 3: he's a mercenary. Maybe he needs to go to Detroit
[5:05] Speaker 3: where it's like clearly Kid Cunningham's team, Like Kate Cunningham
[5:10] Speaker 3: max contract guy. He might be the starting point guard
[5:13] Speaker 3: for Team USA at the twenty twenty eight Olympics, Like
[5:16] Speaker 3: no one would be really looking to KD to be
[5:19] Speaker 3: the leader of that team. Goes to Minnesota, that's Ann
[5:23] Speaker 3: Edwards's team, Like goes to New York, that's Jalen Brunson's team.
[5:27] Speaker 3: In Houston, it was always going to be his team
[5:30] Speaker 3: because she goon by his own admission, language barrier, more
[5:34] Speaker 3: of a lead by example. Guy van Vliet, great player,
[5:39] Speaker 3: but point you can't lead from street clothes. Right, He's
[5:43] Speaker 3: out the whole year, So if he moves on, I
[5:46] Speaker 3: don't think Houston gets better. They made their locker room
[5:49] Speaker 3: gets better. And he's got to be thinking, all right,
[5:52] Speaker 3: it's five franchises rings that people don't really hold in
[5:57] Speaker 3: high regard, and he's going to go down maybe scoring
[6:00] Speaker 3: more points than Kareem Abdul Jabbar. Like it's a weird
[6:04] Speaker 3: legacy for a top twenty all time player in the
[6:07] Speaker 3: history of the sport. He's probably the most complicated guy
[6:11] Speaker 3: in the top twenty. To really pin down it exactly
[6:14] Speaker 3: what he is.
[6:15] Speaker 2: Well, Carmelo Anthony's another guy, like not really a winning player,
[6:19] Speaker 2: didn't play defense often, not in the best shape, but
[6:22] Speaker 2: a great basket. I mean, and I think Carmelo's legacy
[6:25] Speaker 2: is popular. Was he a winning player? Russell Westbrook's legacy
[6:30] Speaker 2: Hall of Famer? Was he a winning player? You know,
[6:34] Speaker 2: it's basketball. I tend to give basketball players a little
[6:38] Speaker 2: bit of a break because it's the most artistic of sports. Yeah,
[6:42] Speaker 2: like people have signature shoes and signature moves.
[6:46] Speaker 3: You know.
[6:46] Speaker 2: It's like nobody in baseball really has a signature shoe.
[6:49] Speaker 2: That's not a thing. And so like I kind of
[6:52] Speaker 2: give basketball players a little bit of a break. I
[6:54] Speaker 2: mean I was a kid. I liked World b Free.
[6:57] Speaker 3: Oh yeah, I mean yeah, just.
[6:59] Speaker 2: A ridiculu list gunner. Not a winning player. But I
[7:02] Speaker 2: remember when he would play like once a year the Sonics.
[7:05] Speaker 2: I was fascinated by. Maybe it was the name. So
[7:08] Speaker 2: I tend to give Katie a break in that it's basketball.
[7:11] Speaker 2: He's a little bit of an artist, you know, not
[7:13] Speaker 2: everybody is like Matt Damon, Tom Cruise, Tom Hanks, Denzel,
[7:18] Speaker 2: really good with a business and a great artist like
[7:21] Speaker 2: Mick Jagger and Bono. Some artists they trash hotel rooms
[7:26] Speaker 2: and get married four times, Like I still like their art.
[7:29] Speaker 3: Well, listen and KD, if he was listening to this,
[7:31] Speaker 3: he'd probably be like, I've made hundreds of millions of
[7:34] Speaker 3: dollars from investments, Like he actually is a pretty good businessman,
[7:38] Speaker 3: you know, Like Yeah, And I think that Kadi is smart,
[7:41] Speaker 3: and I think that KD is I think he's eccentric.
[7:46] Speaker 3: You know, people have made yeah, you know, they've made
[7:48] Speaker 3: the Aaron Rodgers comp. Maybe you've made the Aaron Rodgers comp.
[7:51] Speaker 3: I think it's pretty spot on, Like Aaron Rodgers could
[7:54] Speaker 3: have been a better leader, should have more rings, but
[7:57] Speaker 3: he's universally regarded as an all time and it complicates
[8:01] Speaker 3: his legacy because of all of the other stuff I think.
[8:06] Speaker 2: I think eccentric is a great way to put it.
[8:09] Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, And he's and because he's about my age,
[8:13] Speaker 3: he's a couple of years younger than me. He is
[8:18] Speaker 3: very millennial. And I say that with just the amount
[8:21] Speaker 3: of judgment that I can say as a millennial, Like
[8:25] Speaker 3: like I went to college and my freshman years when
[8:29] Speaker 3: Facebook became a thing, so like I got to meet
[8:31] Speaker 3: people uh like after high school before college like that
[8:36] Speaker 3: were in my dorm via Facebook, but you were still
[8:38] Speaker 3: like going to parties and like maybe posting pictures on
[8:43] Speaker 3: the internet, but we weren't all on our phones all
[8:45] Speaker 3: of the time. Like that kind of blew up after
[8:48] Speaker 3: my college experience, whereas like my younger sisters, they've had
[8:52] Speaker 3: smartphones since they were in grade school. And I do
[8:55] Speaker 3: think there's a difference, and that like Kadi, he's very online.
[9:00] Speaker 3: He's just he's I bet you his screen time is eight, nine,
[9:05] Speaker 3: ten hours on his device, like he is. And so
[9:08] Speaker 3: when you do that and you give all of these people,
[9:12] Speaker 3: not just people like you or people like me who
[9:15] Speaker 3: at least try to have some sort of like consistency
[9:18] Speaker 3: with our opinions and watch the games and talk to
[9:20] Speaker 3: people whatever, but like literally, like nets Fan forty two,
[9:25] Speaker 3: when you give all of those people access to your
[9:28] Speaker 3: pocket and your brain and your consciousness, not everyone can
[9:33] Speaker 3: separate it. And I think Kady clearly has he like
[9:42] Speaker 3: he wants to be able to have a voice in
[9:44] Speaker 3: front of a microphone and in a boardroom, but he
[9:47] Speaker 3: also wants to have a voice with nets Fan forty two.
[9:50] Speaker 3: And it's like, buddy, you're Kevin Durant. You have to
[9:54] Speaker 3: be above it. Like the fact that it appears that
[9:57] Speaker 3: he was the guy talking track on all of his
[10:00] Speaker 3: teammates is so embarrassing, Like it's such an embarrassing scandal.
[10:07] Speaker 3: But I think it is like only the type of
[10:09] Speaker 3: thing that could happen to a millennial gen Z era
[10:14] Speaker 3: person who was like looking for currency and validation online.
[10:18] Speaker 3: But it's so embarrassing for a person of his stature.
[10:22] Speaker 2: So I'm a boomer, So a lot of a lot
[10:25] Speaker 2: of sex, yeah, a lot of drinking, and eventually a
[10:29] Speaker 2: lot of money.
[10:29] Speaker 3: Yeah. You guys crushed it. Yeah, yeah, no, you crushed it.
[10:34] Speaker 3: You guys were able to go to college for like
[10:37] Speaker 3: forty eight bucks, buy a house for buy a house
[10:41] Speaker 3: for thirty two hundred dollars that maybe the government subsidized.
[10:46] Speaker 3: And then you're like, I have at my house this
[10:48] Speaker 3: person who I will not name, who I met through
[10:51] Speaker 3: my job in New York. Not a famous person, but
[10:53] Speaker 3: just like a person, and they were like when I
[10:57] Speaker 3: moved out here, They're like, you should buy my house.
[11:00] Speaker 3: I'm getting ready to downsize. So I was like, oh yeah,
[11:02] Speaker 3: she's like yeah, Like I'm I'm going to list it
[11:05] Speaker 3: for like two million dollars. I'm like, oh, good, good
[11:08] Speaker 3: for you. And she's like, I bought it for one
[11:12] Speaker 3: hundred and sixty thousand dollars. So I was like, great,
[11:16] Speaker 3: that opportunity is not available to the millennials that graduated
[11:20] Speaker 3: college in the housing crisis of eighth nine and then
[11:23] Speaker 3: have through whatever the hell of the last twenty years
[11:26] Speaker 3: have been. But I'm really happy for all of you guys.
[11:29] Speaker 2: Okay, let's get a pivot to Let's pivot to Draymond Green.
[11:34] Speaker 2: Oh yes, so turn So he used to be at
[11:37] Speaker 2: the volume. I liked him.
[11:39] Speaker 3: I thought he cut through.
[11:40] Speaker 2: So basically, Draymond Green came out and said, you know,
[11:44] Speaker 2: Steve Kerr may have gotten in the way of my career.
[11:47] Speaker 2: And then Austin Rivers is like, bro, you're the luckiest
[11:50] Speaker 2: guy in the history of the league. And then Draymond
[11:52] Speaker 2: and Austin Reeves Rivers, Austin Rivers have exchanged unpleasantries. So yeah,
[11:59] Speaker 2: I liked Draymond. I would say this is where I
[12:02] Speaker 2: think Draymond lacks the little self awareness. So his high
[12:06] Speaker 2: school coach in Saginaw, Michigan was a guy named Lou Dawkins,
[12:10] Speaker 2: Hall of Famer. He eventually get Steve Kerr, hall of Famer.
[12:15] Speaker 2: That's after Tom Izzo, who will be a Hall of Famer.
[12:19] Speaker 2: He's never had a bad coach. Lebron's had like four
[12:23] Speaker 2: Like I mean, Mark Jackson, by the way, was very effective.
[12:26] Speaker 2: Kerr was just better and it was trally transitioning to
[12:29] Speaker 2: a very offensive three point league, and Kerr was a
[12:31] Speaker 2: long range shooter. So the culture sort of moved away
[12:34] Speaker 2: from market into Steve. And that's what I would say obviously,
[12:37] Speaker 2: Austin Rivers, I mean, we don't. I mean it was
[12:41] Speaker 2: a disappointing career whatever. But I can simultaneously think Draymond's
[12:46] Speaker 2: the best defensive player ever and better offensively because he's
[12:49] Speaker 2: a catalyst than people give him credit for. But then
[12:51] Speaker 2: part of me is like bro. That would be like
[12:54] Speaker 2: me having three bosses, all of them the best in
[12:57] Speaker 2: either their state, region, or industry. I've said this forever
[13:02] Speaker 2: for young broadcasters, don't chase money, chase management. There's a
[13:06] Speaker 2: sea of money in anything. There's a finite number of
[13:10] Speaker 2: really shrewd, sharp, visionary bosses like I've had maybe three
[13:16] Speaker 2: in a forty year career. Where do you land on Draymon?
[13:20] Speaker 3: Draymond is an amazing basketball player, But if he thinks
[13:26] Speaker 3: that if he was on the Pelicans, he'd be a
[13:30] Speaker 3: first ballot Hall of Famer, he's out of his mind,
[13:33] Speaker 3: like respectfully, because he is an incredible defensive player. He's
[13:40] Speaker 3: a four time champion, he's a four time All Star
[13:45] Speaker 3: who averages nine points a game, like Dyson Daniels is
[13:51] Speaker 3: an amazing defensive player. Like if you're watching the Hawks,
[13:54] Speaker 3: you're kind of locked in on Dyson Daniels, but like
[13:58] Speaker 3: he's not on a Hall of Fame trajectory like you.
[14:02] Speaker 3: You have to win for to be a player like Draymond,
[14:06] Speaker 3: for you to beyond Turner, to be on the volume,
[14:10] Speaker 3: for us to care about you.
[14:12] Speaker 2: Now, can I argue this?
[14:14] Speaker 3: Though?
[14:14] Speaker 2: Rodman played for the Spurs, Chuck Daily and Phil Jackson,
[14:18] Speaker 2: and the truth is smart people understood the value of them.
[14:22] Speaker 2: And then the thing I would argue with Draymon is,
[14:25] Speaker 2: despite his idiosyncratic personality, Kerr would never let him go.
[14:30] Speaker 2: It was basically a Steph Draymond team. And so like Rodman,
[14:35] Speaker 2: you can say, oh, he wanted a good teammate. You
[14:37] Speaker 2: then why did Popovich, Chuck Daily and Phil Jackson all
[14:41] Speaker 2: speak glowingly? There is value in Draymond retaining a contract
[14:47] Speaker 2: with maybe the smartest coach in the league.
[14:49] Speaker 3: Oh but okay, so maybe I didn't. I don't. I
[14:52] Speaker 3: don't think we're disagreeing here. Like Draymond is a winning
[14:55] Speaker 3: basketball player. I think Draymond absolutely had a tremendous amount
[15:01] Speaker 3: of value to the to the Warriors dynasty. I am
[15:05] Speaker 3: merely saying that. Like if Draymond Green was on the
[15:09] Speaker 3: Pelicans or the Hawks, or the Bulls or whomever, he
[15:14] Speaker 3: is not, they're not creating. He's not the one who
[15:17] Speaker 3: created the dynasty. Steph Curry is right, like, you can
[15:20] Speaker 3: be a winning player and Dennis Rodman was amazing, but
[15:25] Speaker 3: that was still more because of Isaiah than Dennis Rodman.
[15:28] Speaker 3: It was more because of Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen
[15:31] Speaker 3: than Dennis Rodman. He was just a He was excellent
[15:35] Speaker 3: at his role, and then the winning that came partly
[15:39] Speaker 3: because of him and partly with him is what elevates
[15:42] Speaker 3: him all time. There are a lot of great rebounders
[15:45] Speaker 3: and defensive players that if they don't have a lot
[15:47] Speaker 3: of rings, we don't really care about you. So I
[15:51] Speaker 3: think that. But Draymond it's also it makes sense why
[15:53] Speaker 3: he has a little bit of an overinflated sense of self.
[15:56] Speaker 3: Like Steph Curry loves him, Ron loves him. He's got
[16:01] Speaker 3: titles and a gold medal, and like doing it his
[16:04] Speaker 3: way has made him obscenely wealthy and obscenely famous. So like,
[16:09] Speaker 3: there's no reason for him to change and stop being
[16:12] Speaker 3: who he is. But I don't think that Draymond Green
[16:15] Speaker 3: would be regarded as an all time player if he
[16:17] Speaker 3: had been drafted into a different situation.

[17:59] Speaker 2: So, the first time I watched the NBA was in
[18:02] Speaker 2: the early seventies. It was like nineteen seventy two. I
[18:05] Speaker 2: can remember watching the Washington Miami Super Bowl on a
[18:08] Speaker 2: black and white TV in my bedroom, and I remember
[18:10] Speaker 2: watching a CBS NBA game. Brent Musburger was calling the
[18:13] Speaker 2: play by play. It was the Lakers, like with Wilt Chamberlain,
[18:17] Speaker 2: old Wilt lumbering up the court with the head band
[18:19] Speaker 2: against the Blazers.
[18:20] Speaker 3: Wow.
[18:21] Speaker 2: And yeah, it was in Portland, and that Portland came
[18:25] Speaker 2: back to beat the Lakers. They were down like twenty
[18:27] Speaker 2: and came back. I've looked it up and I can't
[18:28] Speaker 2: find the game. So Wilt Chamberlain was a remarkable basketball player,
[18:34] Speaker 2: but a bit too flaky to be the face.
[18:36] Speaker 3: Of the league.
[18:38] Speaker 2: And Kareem abdol Jabbar was too stoic and prickly and
[18:41] Speaker 2: was never the face of the league, and Elijah Want
[18:44] Speaker 2: and Tim Duncan weren't the face of the league. And
[18:46] Speaker 2: Kobe's signature shoe at Nike was a bigger deal than Shack,
[18:51] Speaker 2: so Shack was never really the face of the league.
[18:54] Speaker 2: Shoe sales sort of matter of that stuff. Is that
[18:56] Speaker 2: as much as we look at Wemby's face of the league,
[18:59] Speaker 2: he's Internet national. He's seven to four. Alien is a compliment,
[19:06] Speaker 2: but it's not terribly relatable as a nickname like the
[19:10] Speaker 2: Doctor is or Momba is. Alien is frightening and otherworldly.
[19:18] Speaker 2: And I'm watching him against Minnesota in that game. In
[19:21] Speaker 2: my take is his game is fascinating. He's he's he's
[19:26] Speaker 2: basically a disruptor on defense and a finisher on offense.
[19:29] Speaker 2: But he's not a creator like Jokic or Kobe or
[19:32] Speaker 2: Michael or Doctor J or Steph or Lebron. He's not
[19:35] Speaker 2: a creator. And mostly our faces of the league have
[19:39] Speaker 2: been creators and finishers. And I think he's just gonna
[19:43] Speaker 2: go down as more of the all time great players.
[19:45] Speaker 2: But I don't know if he is faced of the league. Guy,
[19:49] Speaker 2: he's pretty thoughtful. He is, he very he gets, he
[19:53] Speaker 2: gives very interesting answers which I which I ask, and
[19:56] Speaker 2: I do think will help him in like the media ecosystem,
[19:59] Speaker 2: people are gonna want to continue to talk to him,
[20:01] Speaker 2: so I will.
[20:02] Speaker 3: Give him that. I do think that winning is a
[20:06] Speaker 3: big piece of Duncan won a lot, but wasn't face.
[20:09] Speaker 3: It wasn't face of the league. To your point, it
[20:12] Speaker 3: does tend to go to guys who have the ball
[20:14] Speaker 3: in their hands as guards. But he might just change everything.
[20:17] Speaker 3: Like I, just as you were talking about it, I googled,
[20:19] Speaker 3: you know, just top selling jerseys, and this is an
[20:24] Speaker 3: article Stephen Curry leading way in jersey sales so far
[20:29] Speaker 3: for twenty twenty five twenty twenty six season. So I
[20:32] Speaker 3: don't see a date on this post from NBA.
[20:35] Speaker 2: That came out not that long ago jersey sales came out.
[20:38] Speaker 2: I think Aunt was shockingly low at five. But Minnesota
[20:43] Speaker 2: had a really weird regular season. Yeah, I mean, but
[20:46] Speaker 2: so this is from like earlier in this season. Oh okay,
[20:49] Speaker 2: here we go. Updated January twentieth, so four months ago.
[20:52] Speaker 2: But from this season, Steph Curry won Luca two, Brunson three,
[20:57] Speaker 2: WEM before Lebron five, ANT six. So if you're fourth
[21:04] Speaker 2: in jersey sales. And that's before you really enter the
[21:08] Speaker 2: MVP conversation, before you became the first unanimous defensive Player
[21:13] Speaker 2: of the Year, and before you had even played in
[21:16] Speaker 2: a playoff game.
[21:17] Speaker 3: And you're twenty one, twenty two years old. I have
[21:21] Speaker 3: to be open to the possibility that that guy can
[21:23] Speaker 3: be the face of the league. What you're saying historically
[21:26] Speaker 3: is accurate about big guys, but I think we are
[21:29] Speaker 3: like everything about Wemby has to be taken with like, yeah,
[21:33] Speaker 3: but the alien might be different. It just you know,
[21:37] Speaker 3: he might just break all of the rules. And again
[21:42] Speaker 3: fourth in jersey sales. Purely anecdotally, I have seen kids
[21:47] Speaker 3: in Wemby jerseys, not saying a ton. I see more
[21:50] Speaker 3: Yankees jerseys on kids where I live, but I have
[21:53] Speaker 3: seen some. So I think he is such a singular
[21:57] Speaker 3: talent that I do think it is possible. And that game,
[22:01] Speaker 3: as we record this on a Tuesday, that game last
[22:03] Speaker 3: night was a weird one. Oh what a weird basket game.
[22:07] Speaker 2: So I had said this the day before. I'm like,
[22:10] Speaker 2: Minnesota's a pain in the ass. Oh, you play and
[22:15] Speaker 2: unbelievable fourth quarter team the way Chris Chris Finch experiments
[22:21] Speaker 2: and then when games matter, they're really good. I mean
[22:23] Speaker 2: they're fourth quarter scoring. I mean the minute that game
[22:25] Speaker 2: went the fourth and they took a four point lead,
[22:27] Speaker 2: I'm like, the game is over.
[22:29] Speaker 3: Absolutely.
[22:29] Speaker 2: Darn Fox was terrible, Castle, Stefan Castle was in foul trouble,
[22:34] Speaker 2: and Julius Randall. Julius Randall is one of the more
[22:38] Speaker 2: underretted players because the analytic mavens don't love him. But
[22:41] Speaker 2: he's a walking nineteen nine and he bullies Wemby. But
[22:45] Speaker 2: I watched I watched that game and I was as
[22:49] Speaker 2: he was zero for eight. I'm watching Wemby and I
[22:53] Speaker 2: think he's a fascinating disruptor. Defensively, I don't really love
[22:57] Speaker 2: watching his game. Offensively, he's you can knock him off
[23:00] Speaker 2: his spot. He's off balance a lot, he hits the
[23:03] Speaker 2: floor a lot. He's not a great passer or initiator.
[23:07] Speaker 2: He's a very good closer. But I don't find I
[23:10] Speaker 2: mean again, I didn't find Lebron's game that appealing his
[23:14] Speaker 2: first two to three years. As he developed as a
[23:16] Speaker 2: perimeter player, I found it more engaging. Then after the
[23:20] Speaker 2: Dallas disaster in the finals, he developed. I thought his
[23:23] Speaker 2: game had he kind of finished his game. It was close,
[23:26] Speaker 2: he finished it. And I still think MJ's more fun
[23:29] Speaker 2: to watch than Lebron, and I think Kobe was more
[23:31] Speaker 2: fun to watch. I don't know, I'm just and I'm
[23:34] Speaker 2: not trying to be a critic. I hope Wenby wins.
[23:36] Speaker 2: He's just a really thoughtful, smart guy and he's really
[23:39] Speaker 2: good with the press. But as I watch him, I
[23:43] Speaker 2: don't I'm not captivated by his offensive game, and that
[23:46] Speaker 2: usually feels like it. I've said this about Jason Tatum. Sometimes, Tatum,
[23:50] Speaker 2: I'm like, is he playing?
[23:51] Speaker 3: What? Yeah?
[23:52] Speaker 2: Where is he?
[23:53] Speaker 3: Yeah? I mean, listens, last night was five of seventeen
[23:56] Speaker 3: and oh of eight from threes, and you're like, that's
[23:59] Speaker 3: that's a that's a game that seven foot five guys
[24:01] Speaker 3: should not have. But you know, to your point about Lebron,
[24:04] Speaker 3: You're like, he didn't love it early. It wasn't totally refined.
[24:06] Speaker 3: He had to develop. He came it a league at
[24:08] Speaker 3: eighteen years old. But right, like, you know, we have
[24:12] Speaker 3: to kind of remember like Victor Wemnyama is by far
[24:16] Speaker 3: the best defensive player in the sport, and at least
[24:19] Speaker 3: on a per thirty six minute basis, a pretty damn
[24:22] Speaker 3: good offensive player. Also, he didn't play a ton of
[24:24] Speaker 3: minutes this year, which I think was smart given the
[24:28] Speaker 3: health issues and the size and how young he is
[24:30] Speaker 3: and all of that. And we'll see what happens. Like,
[24:33] Speaker 3: I am totally open to the possibility that his offensive
[24:36] Speaker 3: game will will keep developing and small pivot. But Minnesota, god,
[24:45] Speaker 3: are they fun. Like so Chris Finch. We profiled him
[24:49] Speaker 3: a bit in our book Pipeline of the Pros because
[24:50] Speaker 3: he went to Franklin and Marshall and he was multiple
[24:54] Speaker 3: two time All American. But like the stories people would
[24:57] Speaker 3: tell about him was just like just kind of like gritty, nasty,
[25:04] Speaker 3: really physical, like the best rebounder of the program I've
[25:08] Speaker 3: ever seen. And it's it's a it's so instructive when
[25:12] Speaker 3: you think about Minnesota. There they're so tough and they're
[25:16] Speaker 3: they're so fear like, like Randall's just like bodying people
[25:20] Speaker 3: and go Beard is not nas reed. Terrence Shannon his
[25:27] Speaker 3: Illinois kid, Illinois kids, Chicago tough and he comes in
[25:32] Speaker 3: and he you know, he gets blocked two times in
[25:34] Speaker 3: like the first minute of the game, and then the
[25:36] Speaker 3: first minute he's on the floor. It's blocked three times
[25:38] Speaker 3: by Wemby. He's asked about it afterwards and he's like, yeah,
[25:41] Speaker 3: I told him he better, he better. He's gonna need
[25:44] Speaker 3: to block me every single time because I'm gonna drive
[25:46] Speaker 3: to the hoop. I'm gonna come at him every time.
[25:49] Speaker 3: I'm not gonna stop coming down the lane. Like. They
[25:51] Speaker 3: are just fearless and really physical and really scrappy and
[25:56] Speaker 3: really tough, and so I just I don't know who
[25:59] Speaker 3: will win that series, but I think we have to
[26:02] Speaker 3: let it. I just I respect the hell out of them.
[26:04] Speaker 3: They overachieve in the playoffs, back to back trips to
[26:06] Speaker 3: the Western Conference finals, got crushed for the go Bear
[26:10] Speaker 3: trade that has worked out for them, obviously crushed in
[26:14] Speaker 3: the for the Cat Julius Randall trade, which I think
[26:18] Speaker 3: has been at least a draw win win for both teams.
[26:22] Speaker 3: Just a really interesting team. And if they knock Wemby out,
[26:26] Speaker 3: man like, we're gonna have to put a lot of
[26:28] Speaker 3: respect on them.
[26:30] Speaker 2: So we'll edit this back in the NBA group. You
[26:35] Speaker 2: live in New York, now, oh okay? Yeah, And I've
[26:39] Speaker 2: found that the Eastern Conference is hard for me to
[26:42] Speaker 2: figure out. I mean, Detroit finished as a number one
[26:44] Speaker 2: seed and they have one score. Last year Charry Reese
[26:48] Speaker 2: Halliburton in Indiana suddenly were dynamic. We're like, how the
[26:52] Speaker 2: hell is this happening? Is Cleveland good? I don't think so.
[26:57] Speaker 2: Philadelphia we sort of gave up on and then they
[27:00] Speaker 2: beat the Celtics. And my point is with the knickses,
[27:04] Speaker 2: it's the East, like I know, Minnesota, San Antonio, Oklahoma City.
[27:10] Speaker 2: I see the rosters and they're going up against each other,
[27:13] Speaker 2: like Denver's a good team they got extinguished. Are the
[27:17] Speaker 2: Knicks good?
[27:19] Speaker 3: I don't know. I think it's totally fair. I they
[27:24] Speaker 3: were really inconsistent over the course of the year, and
[27:28] Speaker 3: so I just.
[27:29] Speaker 2: They had locker room issues, like there were reports they
[27:32] Speaker 2: didn't like each other.
[27:33] Speaker 3: So I didn't believe in them, and it's and I
[27:36] Speaker 3: also didn't believe in them because of their own standards,
[27:38] Speaker 3: like they fired Tibbs for you know, make it to
[27:41] Speaker 3: the Eastern Conference finals, and James Dolan went on the
[27:43] Speaker 3: radio and it was like, finals are bust. Okay, I
[27:46] Speaker 3: don't think you're a finals or bust team. So anything
[27:49] Speaker 3: short of making the finals is a disappointment. And now
[27:52] Speaker 3: they are on a run. The last four games, it's
[27:57] Speaker 3: been absurd. Now you can say it's caliber of opponent.
[28:00] Speaker 3: But if all of the teams in the East are
[28:02] Speaker 3: flawed and you're the team that's playing the best at
[28:06] Speaker 3: the moment, maybe you're gonna win the East. And if
[28:09] Speaker 3: you win the East, you can win the Finals because
[28:12] Speaker 3: you don't have to get through the gauntlet that Minnesota
[28:15] Speaker 3: is gonna have to get through. Like I think Oklahoma
[28:17] Speaker 3: City is the best team. I thought they were the
[28:18] Speaker 3: best team last year. Indiana took him at game seven.
[28:22] Speaker 3: So if you make it and you're hot, and Brunson
[28:26] Speaker 3: can win any game by himself, like I have to
[28:29] Speaker 3: be open to the possibility that the Knicks can win
[28:32] Speaker 3: the title. And Karl Anthony Towns, he is what.
[28:37] Speaker 2: Was worse, significantly worse this year. Bridges was significantly worse.
[28:41] Speaker 2: Not that dynamic of bench. I mean, it's a weird team.
[28:44] Speaker 3: It is, but like Towns is at least trying on defense,
[28:49] Speaker 3: and Ogion Andobi is playing great right now, like he's
[28:52] Speaker 3: great and heart plays his ass off, and so I
[28:56] Speaker 3: just listen, I picked him and lose to Atlanta. Knicks
[28:58] Speaker 3: fans do not like me right now, but they are
[29:02] Speaker 3: playing an incredible, incredibly high level of basketball. Did you
[29:06] Speaker 3: see the stat going around today that it has never
[29:09] Speaker 3: happened in the history of the playoffs with three straight
[29:11] Speaker 3: wins of twenty five or more and then.
[29:14] Speaker 2: They're shooting sixty percent in their last three games. Listen,
[29:16] Speaker 2: it's like a scrimmage. It seems completely unsustainable. But Cad
[29:21] Speaker 2: is the entirety of the Pistons offense. The Calves, I
[29:25] Speaker 2: think they're the most talented team, but they just seem
[29:28] Speaker 2: impervious to all playing well at the same time.
[29:31] Speaker 3: I'm like, why can't you guys have a good game together.
[29:35] Speaker 3: If you all had a good game at the same time,
[29:37] Speaker 3: I think that they would be the best team in
[29:38] Speaker 3: the East. But they it just seems like it's an
[29:40] Speaker 3: impossibility for them. And Boston shot themselves out of the playoffs,
[29:46] Speaker 3: and Philly can you possibly trust and be to stay
[29:49] Speaker 3: healthy for the whole thing even though he is spectacular
[29:52] Speaker 3: and they looked non competitive. So yeah, I think the
[29:54] Speaker 3: Knicks are hot right now. My pick was the Calves,
[29:58] Speaker 3: but I didn't feel great about it, and so they are.
[30:01] Speaker 3: The East is really weird and really flawed, and we're
[30:04] Speaker 3: going to go into the NBA Finals just like we
[30:07] Speaker 3: went into the Super Bowl, and we're gonna say that
[30:11] Speaker 3: the Western Conference Finals are like the NFC Championship Game.
[30:17] Speaker 2: Well, that's right, Seahawks Rams, we're ten to zero against
[30:19] Speaker 2: the AFC corre and the Thunder and Spurs are like
[30:22] Speaker 2: forty nine and eleven against the East.
[30:24] Speaker 3: I mean, it's clear, yes, so we're all gonna have
[30:27] Speaker 3: the same take. And then in the back of at
[30:29] Speaker 3: least my mind, I'm gonna be like, but Tyrese Haliburton
[30:32] Speaker 3: took the Thunder to seven, like that, that is why
[30:34] Speaker 3: they play the games. And I do have I haven't
[30:39] Speaker 3: had our researchers run the data on it yet, and
[30:41] Speaker 3: I don't think we have enough of a sample of it.
[30:43] Speaker 3: But I do think there is so much talent and
[30:47] Speaker 3: now these guys are so good at shooting the three
[30:50] Speaker 3: and the three ball, adding more variance to the sport
[30:54] Speaker 3: that I do think we're gonna I'm not positive that
[30:58] Speaker 3: ten years from now we will look back at thecers
[31:00] Speaker 3: and be like, well, that was a one of one outlier.
[31:03] Speaker 3: Like I don't think we're going back to an era
[31:05] Speaker 3: where it's just ones and two seeds to make it
[31:07] Speaker 3: to the finals every year, Like I think that there's
[31:10] Speaker 3: teams are kind of playing possum in the regular season,
[31:13] Speaker 3: just trying to be healthy, get hot at the right time.
[31:16] Speaker 3: Like Minnesota can make the finals, they're a six seed.
[31:20] Speaker 2: Like it.
[31:20] Speaker 3: I think that we're just there's so much talent in
[31:23] Speaker 3: the league now, and I think we have to be
[31:25] Speaker 3: more open to the possibility that the lower seed can
[31:28] Speaker 3: pull off the quote unquote stunning upset, But it's not
[31:32] Speaker 3: really all that stunning because they also have an awesome team.
[31:36] Speaker 3: Just think about Philly's roster Max. They have four guys
[31:40] Speaker 3: who can score the ball and like Mbed, MVP MAXI,
[31:46] Speaker 3: All NBA, Paul George, a handful of All Star teams
[31:50] Speaker 3: like Edgecomb Sick Player, Like they're a really talented team,
[31:54] Speaker 3: but they are a seven seed, Minnesota a six seed.
[31:56] Speaker 3: Like there's just so much damn talent in the league
[31:59] Speaker 3: now that I don't think we can be as shocked
[32:01] Speaker 3: by upsets if they happen.
[32:03] Speaker 2: Okay, I want to do over unders in the NFL.
[32:06] Speaker 2: I'm gonna ask you over under and you have to
[32:08] Speaker 2: give me a paragraph why.
[32:11] Speaker 3: Okay, I mean, man, we're doing this before the sequence
[32:13] Speaker 3: of the schedule is out. I love it okay, let's
[32:15] Speaker 3: do okay.
[32:16] Speaker 2: The schedule release is next week, so.
[32:20] Speaker 3: I love schedule release. People make fun.
[32:23] Speaker 2: I'm saying why people. First of all, New England got
[32:26] Speaker 2: to a super Bowl for two reasons, easy schedule and
[32:29] Speaker 2: Boonix got hurt. The Niners were twelve and five for
[32:32] Speaker 2: one reason the schedule. They couldn't score a touchdown the
[32:36] Speaker 2: last two games against Seattle with Kyle Shanahan. So it's
[32:39] Speaker 2: like Washington the year before gets has successful really light schedule.
[32:45] Speaker 3: Of course it matters, of course, of course it matters.
[32:48] Speaker 3: But like what the critics would say, like, well, we
[32:51] Speaker 3: know the opponent's right, now, what is the order matter?
[32:54] Speaker 3: I'm like, a, it's just fun, Like don't hate on
[32:58] Speaker 3: fun and do a lot of just people, real people,
[33:02] Speaker 3: not people like you and me and I are Ivory
[33:04] Speaker 3: towers of media. They go to like one road trip
[33:08] Speaker 3: a year, like it's fun to know, Like when Vegas
[33:12] Speaker 3: is on your team's NFL schedule, it's like, when do
[33:15] Speaker 3: we get to go to Vegas to see our team play?
[33:18] Speaker 2: Well?
[33:18] Speaker 3: When am I going to Lambeau for Bears Packers? Oh?
[33:21] Speaker 3: My team gets to play at Arrowhead this year? Like
[33:23] Speaker 3: it's it's the sequencing of it in doing the whole
[33:27] Speaker 3: SNL like Week one Lions win, like it's it's fun
[33:31] Speaker 3: to do the whole thing well.
[33:33] Speaker 2: And the other thing is it does matter Andy Reid
[33:35] Speaker 2: in September. Yeah, Denver in the high altitude at home
[33:39] Speaker 2: in September. Miami don't want to play okay, Miami until
[33:43] Speaker 2: like October tenth, Ye, Buffalo, Baltimore, New England. Rather not
[33:49] Speaker 2: play a roadie in December, Like, folks, if you're a
[33:51] Speaker 2: dome team or a warm weather team, you don't want
[33:53] Speaker 2: to go north after like December third.
[33:56] Speaker 3: Yeah, when is your bye? Would you? How are you
[33:59] Speaker 3: handling your international trip? Is it early?
[34:01] Speaker 1: Is it?
[34:02] Speaker 3: Lads? You have the buye after your international trip. It's
[34:04] Speaker 3: it's great, It's great.
[34:06] Speaker 2: Okay. So one of the best bets, I think. So.
[34:11] Speaker 2: The Cowboys last year faced eight teams with winning records
[34:17] Speaker 2: and went one in seven. And they, more than any
[34:21] Speaker 2: team in the league go from last year, I think
[34:25] Speaker 2: the third easiest schedule to one of the toughest. They
[34:28] Speaker 2: have the biggest pivot easy to hard. And if you
[34:31] Speaker 2: start looking at their schedule, look at the teams Dallas plays. Dude,
[34:35] Speaker 2: it's I mean, it's a lot of Jaguars, and you know,
[34:38] Speaker 2: it's it's like teams with a good offensive coach. And
[34:42] Speaker 2: now I do think they've upgraded defensively, but they're an
[34:44] Speaker 2: eight and a half and that is the biggest sucker
[34:47] Speaker 2: bet ever. Everybody's going to bet the over on this.
[34:51] Speaker 2: And my take is the Giants are going to be
[34:54] Speaker 2: much better. The Commander's Jaden Daniels healthy is going to
[34:58] Speaker 2: be much better. And schedule, folks, look it up, it's
[35:02] Speaker 2: just land mine after land mine. That's one of my
[35:06] Speaker 2: favorite unders is Dallas under eight and a half.
[35:09] Speaker 3: Yeah, so they get so they have NFC West and
[35:12] Speaker 3: AFC South. AFC South is obviously a pretty good draw.
[35:17] Speaker 2: Well, but Daniel Jones and the Colts early last year
[35:20] Speaker 2: were fantastic.
[35:21] Speaker 3: Yeah. Well, and what I was gonna say is is,
[35:23] Speaker 3: like you you want you also want the tougher teams
[35:27] Speaker 3: obviously to be at home for bigger chances of upsets,
[35:31] Speaker 3: and they got a pretty bad draw with that. Like
[35:33] Speaker 3: their their road their road games in those divisions at
[35:37] Speaker 3: Houston at Indie, at the Rams, at the Seahawks. Yeah,
[35:41] Speaker 3: that's brutal, that's very difficult. And last year that's.
[35:45] Speaker 2: They played Gino and Russell Wilson and Justin Fields. Now,
[35:48] Speaker 2: they did beat Mahomes, but he had four touchdowns, no
[35:51] Speaker 2: picks in a passer rating of one thirty, so he
[35:53] Speaker 2: literally ate them alive. I think the best under bet
[35:56] Speaker 2: is Dallas eight and a half. All right, so I'm
[35:58] Speaker 2: gonna give you I'll start with you, Dallas. I'm kind
[36:00] Speaker 2: of setting you up here. I think Dallas unders to play. There.
[36:03] Speaker 2: Your thoughts on Dallas eight master.
[36:05] Speaker 3: Yeah, listen, I agree with you because I have not
[36:08] Speaker 3: committed all of the division opponents to memory yet, so
[36:10] Speaker 3: you're I'm going to be kind of doing this on
[36:12] Speaker 3: the fly. But what I would say about Dallas is
[36:16] Speaker 3: it seems almost impossible that they will get that George
[36:19] Speaker 3: Pickens season again. That seems very unlikely. He was second
[36:24] Speaker 3: team All Pro.
[36:25] Speaker 2: So I'm not in a good mood with a franchise tack.
[36:27] Speaker 3: Yeah, and whatever the franchise tag component is going to
[36:30] Speaker 3: be there. However, their defense can't be worse. They use
[36:36] Speaker 3: their highest pick on a defensive player since twenty twelve.
[36:40] Speaker 3: They gave out the biggest contract to a defensive player
[36:45] Speaker 3: for them since twenty twelve. The four of their first
[36:48] Speaker 3: six picks run on the defensive side of the ball,
[36:50] Speaker 3: including two first round picks Caleb Downs, obviously everybody loves.
[36:55] Speaker 3: We'll see how Malachi Lawrence does like new defensive coordinator,
[36:59] Speaker 3: which I do think can be like a new there's
[37:01] Speaker 3: just a bumping effort. So if their defense can be
[37:06] Speaker 3: the seventeenth rngths defense in the league and they get
[37:10] Speaker 3: offensive health, they definitely can be the best offense in
[37:13] Speaker 3: the league with dak CD and pick ins and they
[37:17] Speaker 3: found a bit of a running game last year. But
[37:19] Speaker 3: those are two huge ifs, so I understand why you're
[37:22] Speaker 3: going under. That schedule is brutal.
[37:34] Speaker 2: One of my favorite overs is the Lions ten and
[37:37] Speaker 2: a half, which seems like a lot, but they have
[37:40] Speaker 2: the easiest schedule in the league, massive upgrade and offensive coordinator,
[37:45] Speaker 2: and they solved their left tackle issue. So I think
[37:49] Speaker 2: a lot of people are I mean, listen, we love
[37:51] Speaker 2: their GM. Yep, we really like the coach and the quarterback.
[37:56] Speaker 2: They have most of the elements, but over the last year.
[37:59] Speaker 2: They had to address their offensive line last year in
[38:01] Speaker 2: the draft, very young interior. Now they're going to have
[38:05] Speaker 2: a young left tackle, but one of the more talented ones.
[38:08] Speaker 2: Go look at the Lions schedule. So if I stay
[38:10] Speaker 2: over ten and a half, it's like, folks, it's a
[38:12] Speaker 2: seventeen game schedule, so eleven and six I and so
[38:18] Speaker 2: I'm giving them a lot of weak like Arizona's on
[38:21] Speaker 2: the schedule.
[38:21] Speaker 3: They got their road games. They've got easy road, easy
[38:26] Speaker 3: road game in Arizona, easy road game in Miami, easy
[38:31] Speaker 3: ish road game in Carolina's that's a pretty good roads.
[38:34] Speaker 3: And you also want to look now, since it's an
[38:37] Speaker 3: unbound schedule, like you said, do you have more home
[38:39] Speaker 3: games or road games? And they have more home games
[38:42] Speaker 3: than road games, So yeah, they do have perry on
[38:44] Speaker 3: paper easy schedule jets.
[38:47] Speaker 2: One of my favorite unders is the Cowboys, one of
[38:50] Speaker 2: my favorite over the Lions. So now I'm just gonna
[38:52] Speaker 2: go and let you take over. Okay, Bears nine and
[38:56] Speaker 2: a half schedules tougher Bears nine and.
[38:58] Speaker 3: A half, So listen, people will call me a homer,
[39:02] Speaker 3: that's fine. I do think this is an over because
[39:07] Speaker 3: I don't see why the Lions, Packers, and Bears don't
[39:10] Speaker 3: all have the same over under. I don't think they're
[39:13] Speaker 3: in the Lions and the Packers are ten and a
[39:15] Speaker 3: half and the Bears are nine and a half. I
[39:17] Speaker 3: don't understand. It's a very, very very difficult division and
[39:23] Speaker 3: the regression for the Bears will have. They will not
[39:27] Speaker 3: lead the league in takeaways this year. They will not
[39:29] Speaker 3: lead the league in fourth quarter comebacks this year. Eighty
[39:33] Speaker 3: percent of their offensive line last year played in over
[39:35] Speaker 3: ninety percent of the snaps. Left guard, center, right guard,
[39:39] Speaker 3: right tackle. We're all remarkably healthy. That's already not going
[39:42] Speaker 3: to happen because of the Drew Dolmens surprise retirement at center,
[39:45] Speaker 3: even though they addressed it with the Bradbury trade and
[39:48] Speaker 3: the second round pick. However, we see when special quarterbacks
[39:56] Speaker 3: are paired in good systems, their second year in the
[39:59] Speaker 3: system is when they take the lead. It's what happened
[40:02] Speaker 3: for Mahomes, It's what happened for Lamar Jackson, like we've
[40:05] Speaker 3: seen it time and time and time again. I believe
[40:08] Speaker 3: kayleb Williams and Ben Jonson are special, and he has
[40:12] Speaker 3: unbelievable weapons, and all of those young guys get to
[40:17] Speaker 3: take that same second year in the system lead Donsay
[40:20] Speaker 3: Burden Loveland. So I think the offense will be a
[40:25] Speaker 3: top ten offense, maybe even a top five offense. I
[40:28] Speaker 3: know they think they can be the best offense, so
[40:31] Speaker 3: I think their offense is going to bring them to
[40:33] Speaker 3: double digit wins this year.
[40:37] Speaker 2: Packers at ten and a half.
[40:40] Speaker 3: So that one again Packers says, you're just a hater.
[40:46] Speaker 3: I think that the Packers, and I want to pull
[40:48] Speaker 3: up the schedule to see who their home road splits are.
[40:50] Speaker 3: So I'm gonna do this with you on them.
[40:51] Speaker 2: They're in a really interesting spot where I got it.
[40:55] Speaker 2: So I you know, Gary and Kenny Clark, don Micah
[40:59] Speaker 2: Offen injury, not good against the run. They plan a
[41:02] Speaker 2: division now with some really lively offenses and creative people,
[41:06] Speaker 2: and I just will they and Jeff Halfley leaves I
[41:10] Speaker 2: have questions about I don't ever question their draft and development.
[41:14] Speaker 2: I think they have really nice weapons. I how good
[41:17] Speaker 2: is their defense?
[41:19] Speaker 3: Yeah, I think it was when Micah was there, it
[41:22] Speaker 3: was pretty good, and then everything fell off a cliff
[41:24] Speaker 3: when when he got hurt. Schedule, you know, at the
[41:28] Speaker 3: Rams is obviously brutal, At the Patriots, the rest of
[41:33] Speaker 3: it's pretty Saints, Jets, Bucks, that's a pretty that's a
[41:36] Speaker 3: pretty tame road schedule. Actually, if you if you comparatively,
[41:41] Speaker 3: I think that the Packers. You said it was ten
[41:44] Speaker 3: and a half. Yeah, yeah, again, I think so, I'm
[41:47] Speaker 3: I would small disagree with you on Detroit, And I
[41:50] Speaker 3: just think all of those teams are like in the
[41:52] Speaker 3: nine to ten range. So for the Bears at nine
[41:54] Speaker 3: and a half, they'd be my over, and for the
[41:56] Speaker 3: Lions and Packers at ten and a half they would.
[41:58] Speaker 3: I'd lead under because I think that they're all basically
[42:01] Speaker 3: the same, all have one or two big flaws, but
[42:05] Speaker 3: then the rest of the team is really good and
[42:07] Speaker 3: the coaching is really good in that division. And I
[42:10] Speaker 3: don't know if you have Minnesota on your list, but
[42:13] Speaker 3: now if they have Kyler Murray, it's just such a
[42:17] Speaker 3: like I could see last place in the NFC North
[42:20] Speaker 3: being an eight win team. I don't think that there's
[42:23] Speaker 3: any easy out in that division. So I think I'll
[42:25] Speaker 3: just lean unders on the two teams with the highest
[42:29] Speaker 3: win total.
[42:31] Speaker 2: Okay, I want to go AFC. This is interesting. I
[42:35] Speaker 2: think the Raiders are going to be much more competent.
[42:37] Speaker 2: I think Denver has the best roster and division, and
[42:40] Speaker 2: I think Justin Herbert will finally have an offensive line.
[42:44] Speaker 2: Kansas City, I think is going to make a lead
[42:47] Speaker 2: ten and a half to meets the under and I
[42:51] Speaker 2: think I just look at that division now and I'm like,
[42:55] Speaker 2: if Clint Kubiak is good, the coaching is really good.
[43:00] Speaker 2: The personnel, Like when you let go of Trent McDuffie,
[43:05] Speaker 2: I wish him the very best on their rookie, but
[43:08] Speaker 2: Trent mcnephew was like the second best corner in the league.
[43:11] Speaker 2: Chris Jones relative to Chris Jones was not terribly productive.
[43:18] Speaker 2: I think their offense will mostly be solved with Kenneth Walker,
[43:23] Speaker 2: and I do think Josh Simmons they like a lot
[43:26] Speaker 2: at left tackle, and Mahomes will be healthy. But you know,
[43:30] Speaker 2: Rashi Rice, do we trust him? Travis Kelcey age. I
[43:35] Speaker 2: think Kansas City's going to be good.
[43:38] Speaker 3: But remember when.
[43:39] Speaker 2: The Rams, everybody thought they win the Super Bowl next year.
[43:42] Speaker 2: Stafford gets hurt, They're bad, and then they bounce back.
[43:45] Speaker 2: They have a bounce back here and they signed one
[43:48] Speaker 2: Kevin Dotson one acquisition offseason, and then they had like
[43:52] Speaker 2: Puka Young, Kobe Turner. They hit on three draft picks,
[43:56] Speaker 2: but they weren't Philadelphia. They didn't another draft in free eight.
[44:01] Speaker 2: That's what Kansas City is. So I think they had
[44:04] Speaker 2: three great draft picks Kenneth Walker, but it's hard to
[44:08] Speaker 2: find when you look at that defense you're relying on
[44:11] Speaker 2: a couple of rookies to deliver. I think Kansas City
[44:13] Speaker 2: will be good, but I don't think you can go
[44:15] Speaker 2: from what they were last year to a super Bowl team.
[44:18] Speaker 2: I think that that is all pretty sound. Andy Reid
[44:21] Speaker 2: has hit the over in I think, all but two years.
[44:26] Speaker 3: Since he's been there. It's just stupid. It's a remarkable
[44:32] Speaker 3: run for that guy he has if you give him
[44:35] Speaker 3: healthy quarterback play, he just represents such a insanely high floor,
[44:40] Speaker 3: and obviously with Mahomes it's been a pretty high ceiling.
[44:44] Speaker 3: They also, as I just man, having Seattle and the
[44:48] Speaker 3: Rams on your schedule as road games is just that
[44:51] Speaker 3: is a that is a really, really, really tough break
[44:54] Speaker 3: to not get one of those games at at Arrowhead
[44:58] Speaker 3: this year, given how good Seattle ended up being, so
[45:00] Speaker 3: that is very tough. I just I loved the Kenneth
[45:05] Speaker 3: Walker additions so much for them, they have had one.
[45:07] Speaker 3: They haven't had a one thousand yard running back since
[45:10] Speaker 3: twenty seventeen, So you give Mahomes the best running back
[45:15] Speaker 3: he's ever had, because I think Kareem Hunt had a
[45:17] Speaker 3: very nice season, but I do think Kenneth Walker is
[45:20] Speaker 3: a better player than Kareem Hunt was. So Rashi Rice
[45:25] Speaker 3: also at this moment in time, it looks like everything's
[45:30] Speaker 3: going to be fine, but like who knows, because he is,
[45:34] Speaker 3: he does get into trouble off the field and there
[45:36] Speaker 3: have been issues. But like if Rashi Rice is a
[45:38] Speaker 3: number one, and when he is healthy, Mahomes treats him
[45:41] Speaker 3: like a number one. Worthy is a guy who got
[45:44] Speaker 3: better year, went on in a very fun weapon and
[45:46] Speaker 3: the addition of Kenneth Walker, I do think they have
[45:49] Speaker 3: the opportunity to be a really damn good offense this year.
[45:52] Speaker 3: So I'm not in the business of betting against Andy
[45:54] Speaker 3: Reid with healthy Mahomes.
[45:57] Speaker 2: We'll end with this. Have you seen Saint Louis?
[46:01] Speaker 3: I have not. Okay, I've heard you reference it and
[46:07] Speaker 3: I see you tweet about it, and I, oh, my god,
[46:10] Speaker 3: I know, like I know just enough to be dangerous.
[46:15] Speaker 3: And I find it amazing that you love and watch
[46:17] Speaker 3: the show. So I don't know, But I don't know.
[46:18] Speaker 3: I can't name a character I've never seen an episode.
[46:21] Speaker 2: Okay, it's just it's the best acting I've ever seen.
[46:24] Speaker 2: Everybody's sensational. The acting is sensational, and like The Wire
[46:30] Speaker 2: with Baltimore or Breaking Bad with Albuquerque, Saint Louis is perfect.
[46:34] Speaker 2: It's a boring suburb town. It's kind of square, it's
[46:39] Speaker 2: not exactly a hip city, and they find these three
[46:43] Speaker 2: people with incredibly mundane, boring middle class I guess lives
[46:50] Speaker 2: and it is. I mean, you got to suspend some belief.
[46:54] Speaker 2: It's it's based loosely on a true story on a
[46:57] Speaker 2: New Jersey, but they tried to. They didn't get quite
[47:00] Speaker 2: as kinky as the story really was.
[47:02] Speaker 3: It is.
[47:05] Speaker 2: You have to watch the last second.
[47:07] Speaker 3: Oh so weird.
[47:09] Speaker 2: I mean, I shouldn't love it. I told and I said,
[47:13] Speaker 2: it's sticky. You couldn't turn it off. I'm like, I
[47:17] Speaker 2: got to see another episode. These people are so freaking
[47:19] Speaker 2: bizarre it I called it. I have one buddy in
[47:23] Speaker 2: LA that's like a producer. I'm like, how do people
[47:27] Speaker 2: do this?
[47:27] Speaker 3: How do you write that?
[47:29] Speaker 2: And he's like, you know what? And he's been in
[47:30] Speaker 2: Hollywood for forty years, he two and a half men,
[47:33] Speaker 2: he was, you know, made his fortune there. And he's like, listen, man,
[47:36] Speaker 2: there are people in our industry that see things that
[47:39] Speaker 2: we can. Some people see ghosts, some people see stories.
[47:43] Speaker 2: And it's like I said, you have got to watch that.
[47:46] Speaker 2: I think it's one of the best things I've seen.
[47:48] Speaker 3: Now.
[47:48] Speaker 2: Ozark is my all time favorite. Narco's and Ozark are
[47:51] Speaker 2: my favorite streaming shows ever. It's on a short list
[47:55] Speaker 2: of with Minehunter. Mine Hunter's way up there as well.
[47:58] Speaker 3: Yeah it is.
[48:00] Speaker 2: I liked it much like, Oh, it's just it's got
[48:05] Speaker 2: some sexual weirdness. And I am America's honesty broker and
[48:12] Speaker 2: I wear zip hops, so it just not of me.
[48:16] Speaker 3: I I just I love it. I haven't seen any
[48:20] Speaker 3: of it, but that that that review from you and
[48:24] Speaker 3: how like you're squirming a little bit and blushing a
[48:28] Speaker 3: little bit. Just it's very it's very it's very endearing.
[48:31] Speaker 3: Like I I will, I will watch the show. Uh.
[48:35] Speaker 3: These NBA playoff games, man, they ended like one in
[48:37] Speaker 3: the morning on the Eastern time, because brutal. It's outrageous
[48:41] Speaker 3: and no one wants to feel bad for us for
[48:43] Speaker 3: the job. But like my guy, it's my least.
[48:45] Speaker 2: I'm so touching when they when I lived, when I
[48:49] Speaker 2: was at ESPN and the heatles were a thing. Yeah,
[48:52] Speaker 2: I mean, and would go to bed at like ten.
[48:54] Speaker 2: I'm like, I'll see in about two and a half hours.
[48:56] Speaker 2: I didn't sleep. I used to say, May is the
[48:59] Speaker 2: worst month of the year when you have a really
[49:02] Speaker 2: fascinating NBA team and the heatles, like you had to
[49:05] Speaker 2: watch every second of the game, like Mike and Mike
[49:07] Speaker 2: and I mean, to their credit, they would read the
[49:10] Speaker 2: packet in the morning, but there's no possible way they
[49:12] Speaker 2: watched it because I had to get up.
[49:13] Speaker 3: But three hours later, ye and I had.
[49:15] Speaker 2: You know, for me, I had a little bit of
[49:17] Speaker 2: a break because their show was on first and I
[49:19] Speaker 2: and I, you know, I was a basketball guy and
[49:21] Speaker 2: like kind of Lebron guy, so it's like, all right,
[49:24] Speaker 2: I'll stay up. May was awful, and now Chicago's slightly better,
[49:28] Speaker 2: but not much.
[49:29] Speaker 3: Yeah, it's about an hour better. It's about it's about
[49:32] Speaker 3: about exactly. It's about one hour better. Uh yeah, but yeah,
[49:37] Speaker 3: these games ended. I'm just like, Okay, again, I don't
[49:40] Speaker 3: have to be I don't have to be on the
[49:41] Speaker 3: air until five pms. Like, but I'm still dragging my
[49:45] Speaker 3: ass across the across Midtown talking about these games. But yeah,
[49:50] Speaker 3: the NBA Playoffs are great. It's a good problem. But
[49:52] Speaker 3: I will put the show on the list for when
[49:54] Speaker 3: the playoffs conclude. Good stuff, Bud all right man, good
