[0:01] Speaker 1: The volume. All right, here we go, John Middlecoff and I.
[0:13] Speaker 1: I don't work tomorrow on TV, so this is my
[0:17] Speaker 1: I was down in Florida all weekend and hanging out
[0:20] Speaker 1: with my wife in Naples. Have you ever gone to Naples, by.
[0:22] Speaker 2: The way, Yeah, back when I was with the Eagles,
[0:25] Speaker 2: they had these scouting meetings at I forget the name
[0:30] Speaker 2: of the place. I mean right on the water. I
[0:32] Speaker 2: think it's about thirty minutes away from Naples. And then
[0:35] Speaker 2: the end you have a week long paid vacation. I'm
[0:38] Speaker 2: with a buddies, like, let's take a I don't even
[0:40] Speaker 2: think ubers existed. Back in twenty thirteen, we hopped in
[0:43] Speaker 2: a cab, went up there, had dinner. It was it
[0:46] Speaker 2: was nice fifteen years ago. I'll tell you that much.
[0:49] Speaker 1: Yeah, it's exploded. Naples, Florida has exploded. I rented a
[0:54] Speaker 1: little with a friend, a little twenty two foot boat
[0:58] Speaker 1: to kind of go around and look at the billionaire
[1:01] Speaker 1: row of homes and my friends in realty. He's like, Oh,
[1:06] Speaker 1: that's boom boom, boom boom. Some people live. Well, that's all.
[1:10] Speaker 1: I'm on a twenty two foot boat looking at thirty
[1:14] Speaker 1: five thousand square foot homes, but it was beautiful. So
[1:18] Speaker 1: you know, listen, let's start with Max Crosby. So I
[1:21] Speaker 1: had said this before. I think he was kind of
[1:23] Speaker 1: the soul of the Raiders, but they're breaking it down
[1:26] Speaker 1: to the foundation. I thought they they may keep Max
[1:30] Speaker 1: because they have like twelve draft picks, eleven or twelve
[1:33] Speaker 1: draft picks, so if they hit on seven or eight
[1:35] Speaker 1: of those, they've got plenty of money. They're not paying
[1:37] Speaker 1: their quarterback for four years, so I would just keep
[1:40] Speaker 1: Max Crosby. But I think you know, they're looking at
[1:42] Speaker 1: he's an older player, still great. But I think I
[1:46] Speaker 1: saw a story today they're interested in Tyler Linderbaum, the
[1:49] Speaker 1: great center from Baltimore, and it's like the Giants and
[1:54] Speaker 1: the Raiders, which I think would be a huge move
[1:56] Speaker 1: because they drafted Jackson Powers Johnson Jackson to Cowers Johnson
[2:04] Speaker 1: JPJ from Oregon, and he didn't play center. He played guard,
[2:09] Speaker 1: so he's more comfortable at guard. He's very good. So
[2:12] Speaker 1: to me, this feels like the Raiders are doing if
[2:14] Speaker 1: they get Tyler Lindebaum. It feels a little bit like
[2:17] Speaker 1: Ben Johnson to the Bears. Here's the quarterback and I'm
[2:20] Speaker 1: gonna get the interior of the old line. I'm gonna
[2:23] Speaker 1: go get now. Drew Dolman just retired after one year
[2:25] Speaker 1: in Chicago. But do you like the Max Crosby deal
[2:29] Speaker 1: for them, especially for the Raiders if they get Tyler
[2:33] Speaker 1: Lindebaum because of the availability to you know, pay him
[2:37] Speaker 1: top of the market.
[2:38] Speaker 2: Well, I like it simply because it was time, you know.
[2:42] Speaker 2: I think quietly he kind of wanted out. He wasn't
[2:45] Speaker 2: gonna do it, kind of like a Yannis situation, because
[2:47] Speaker 2: he loves the fans, he loves the franchise, Right, Colin,
[2:50] Speaker 2: they got more again. We'll have to see what plays
[2:52] Speaker 2: out next year. The Dallas Cowboys traded Michael Parsons and
[2:56] Speaker 2: they are lucky. I mean, it took a Micah Parson's
[2:59] Speaker 2: injury and a crazy comeback in a playoff game. They
[3:02] Speaker 2: got picked twenty. I didn't quite realize that the moment
[3:05] Speaker 2: the trade was made, and then you give it five minutes.
[3:08] Speaker 2: The Ravens missed the playoffs and win eight and nine,
[3:10] Speaker 2: which sometimes gets you picked eighteen. It's picked fourteen. Yes,
[3:15] Speaker 2: and I think I saw Warren sharp. This is the
[3:17] Speaker 2: highest amount of draft capital any team's ever had because
[3:20] Speaker 2: they got the first pick in every round. You'd rather
[3:23] Speaker 2: have pick one in fourteen than pick eight to nine.
[3:25] Speaker 2: I mean, it is the fourteenth pick that that to
[3:28] Speaker 2: me is where it's like, damn, that was a lot, Colin.
[3:32] Speaker 1: You know. The other thing John to remember is they
[3:34] Speaker 1: already have The Raiders have two ones, A two to three,
[3:37] Speaker 1: three fours, two fives, two sixes. Those top that top
[3:42] Speaker 1: of round two. John, you do the first round. Guys
[3:45] Speaker 1: are making deals, gms are making deals all night. You
[3:49] Speaker 1: could move down seven spots and yeas another third or
[3:53] Speaker 1: a fifth or a fourth. So the Raiders really can
[3:58] Speaker 1: rebuild the entire franch guys quarterback, first pick, fourteenth pick,
[4:03] Speaker 1: you could have the top interior old lineman from Penn State.
[4:07] Speaker 1: You could have the second best corner. I mean you can.
[4:10] Speaker 1: You can do it. You have to probably replace Max
[4:13] Speaker 1: with one of your first three to four picks, you know,
[4:16] Speaker 1: but I mean, I it's the first time because Jackson
[4:20] Speaker 1: powers Johnson. You've got one and Colton Miller left tackle.
[4:25] Speaker 1: Jackson powers Johnson. You add Tyler Lindenbaum. It's like, oh,
[4:29] Speaker 1: this is what the Bears did. So I don't I
[4:31] Speaker 1: can't tell you the last time I was. I think
[4:33] Speaker 1: John Spytech it deserves a lot of credit for this.
[4:36] Speaker 1: How many teams do you think we're interested in Crosby?
[4:42] Speaker 2: This is why I never understood they won't get two
[4:45] Speaker 2: first round picks. Guys, every playoff team there are fourteen
[4:49] Speaker 2: playoff teams. The Raiders are obviously not even remotely close
[4:53] Speaker 2: to one of them. They were all interested. And then
[4:56] Speaker 2: you get and you then throw in the Cowboys, who
[4:59] Speaker 2: have that ammunition. Think they're gonna be pretty good this
[5:01] Speaker 2: year if they can flip it around on defense. So
[5:03] Speaker 2: I think when the dust settled, you probably had five
[5:06] Speaker 2: teams willing to get really aggressive, but no one could
[5:10] Speaker 2: trump that fourteenth pick. You know, you see stories on
[5:12] Speaker 2: the Jags, you see you know, teams like the Bear.
[5:15] Speaker 2: All these teams are in the twenties, colin in the
[5:17] Speaker 2: mid to late twenties. And then you go, if I
[5:19] Speaker 2: give a max, if I trade them to the Jags
[5:21] Speaker 2: or I trade them to the Bears, well, if they're
[5:23] Speaker 2: in the playoffs again, that's picked twenty five, and next
[5:25] Speaker 2: year that's picked twenty four. Where that's what the what's
[5:29] Speaker 2: the likelihood that the Cowboys pick. I guess they might
[5:32] Speaker 2: have already traded it because they traded for Quinn Williams.
[5:35] Speaker 2: But the way that they had set up to Micah deal,
[5:37] Speaker 2: that was looking like pick twenty eight and pick twenty
[5:40] Speaker 2: eight back to back years, which I'm not opposed, but
[5:43] Speaker 2: when I see I can't believe they the Bills gave
[5:46] Speaker 2: up a second rounder for DJ Moore. Guy, guys, it's
[5:49] Speaker 2: pick sixty. It's not picked thirty seven. These things are
[5:52] Speaker 2: not equal, you know, Colin, I'm in my home, you're
[5:56] Speaker 2: in your home. We're both homeowners. Were not equal if
[5:59] Speaker 2: we sold our home. They're not the same. So it's
[6:01] Speaker 2: like when I see these things get thrown around, Well,
[6:03] Speaker 2: they're offering a first round pick, Well, we're in the
[6:05] Speaker 2: first round because pick fourteen is fantastic. Pick twenty nine,
[6:09] Speaker 2: like the Chiefs, they did well. But pick you'd ask Andy,
[6:13] Speaker 2: would you rather pick? You know, there's a big difference.
[6:15] Speaker 2: There's a big gap. If I would have told you
[6:16] Speaker 2: they would have got the Rams thirteenth overall pick, you
[6:18] Speaker 2: would have been like, oh my god.
[6:20] Speaker 1: What a hole. Yeah, the Dj Moore pick, to me,
[6:24] Speaker 1: I thought worked for Buffalo because Keon Coleman now there's
[6:27] Speaker 1: no pressure on him to work he had a touchdown
[6:30] Speaker 1: in the game against I think Denver in the playoffs.
[6:31] Speaker 1: So he's a kid, he's a big play kid. But
[6:34] Speaker 1: now you've got your running back, your quarterback, your left tackle,
[6:37] Speaker 1: a very good slot receiver, a number one and if
[6:41] Speaker 1: Keon Coleman is kind of a fifty catch forty three
[6:45] Speaker 1: catch guy, but a big you know, he's sort of
[6:47] Speaker 1: just like Rashid Shaheed for the Seahawks. He's just a
[6:50] Speaker 1: big play guy. About twice a game. You go downfield,
[6:54] Speaker 1: you keep the safeties. Honest, I thought DJ Moore to
[6:58] Speaker 1: Buffalo was a great pick. And you make a great
[7:00] Speaker 1: point on this is that Brett Viach is a very
[7:04] Speaker 1: very good general manager for the Chiefs. I mean, Xavier
[7:08] Speaker 1: Worthy last year at the end of the first round
[7:11] Speaker 1: is kind of I wouldn't say a gadget receiver, but
[7:14] Speaker 1: he's not a volume receiver. Now that's a that's about
[7:17] Speaker 1: as well as you can do late first round, which
[7:19] Speaker 1: is get an explosive first round level athlete. But if
[7:23] Speaker 1: he was a volume receiver McKay lemon usc you'd go
[7:27] Speaker 1: mid first round. And McKay lemon doesn't have Worthy speed
[7:30] Speaker 1: or explosiveness. But you know, you're end of the first round.
[7:35] Speaker 1: I mean years ago the Chiefs kind of whiffed on
[7:37] Speaker 1: a running back out of LSU late first round. So
[7:39] Speaker 1: it's no man's land.
[7:41] Speaker 2: This is very when you look at the Ravens. I
[7:43] Speaker 2: was reading a couple of stories over the last twenty
[7:45] Speaker 2: four hours. They've never I mean, obviously they've made big
[7:48] Speaker 2: acquisitions on older players or veteran players, you know historically
[7:52] Speaker 2: from Ankwon Boldens to Steve Smith's to Rokewan Smith. Like
[7:55] Speaker 2: they are an aggressive organization. They've never traded a first
[7:58] Speaker 2: round pick for a player, and typically over the Lamar
[8:02] Speaker 2: era they have drafted what I would twenty four to
[8:05] Speaker 2: twenty eight range, right, So they are not This is
[8:09] Speaker 2: a very valuable pick, if memory serves me correct. Kyle
[8:12] Speaker 2: Hamilton was the fourteenth pick in the draft. Now, all
[8:15] Speaker 2: drafts aren't equal, and I'm not saying there's a Kyle
[8:17] Speaker 2: Hamilton in this draft. And my point is that's how
[8:20] Speaker 2: gms think, Like if I'm fourteen, I can get a guy.
[8:23] Speaker 2: I mean, Michah Parsons was the eleventh pick. You know,
[8:26] Speaker 2: Jalen Carter was the ninth pick, where the kid you
[8:29] Speaker 2: just never know how a draft shakes out Laramie Tunzel.
[8:31] Speaker 2: The picture comes out all of a sudden, He's there
[8:33] Speaker 2: at whatever pick ten or eleven. Weird things happen around
[8:36] Speaker 2: the draft. Stories come out, like the Raiders have an
[8:40] Speaker 2: opportunity now. They did this once upon a time, and
[8:42] Speaker 2: I was living in the Bay Area. They had three
[8:45] Speaker 2: first round picks one year because they had traded Khalil
[8:47] Speaker 2: Mack and they had traded Amari Cooper in the same year.
[8:50] Speaker 2: And they whiffed on basically every pick over that run
[8:53] Speaker 2: except for Josh Jacobs. So it is now incumbent on
[8:56] Speaker 2: them to hit the pick. But listen, I've known Spy Tech.
[9:00] Speaker 2: He left Eagles right before I was with him and
[9:01] Speaker 2: Jason Light at the combine. He I think he's really good.
[9:05] Speaker 2: And if you watch Max Crosby's I don't know if
[9:07] Speaker 2: you watched it, it's about his genuine, no notes, just
[9:10] Speaker 2: him talking to have that much loyalty and passion to
[9:13] Speaker 2: a team that he didn't have any success on besides
[9:16] Speaker 2: personally but not as a team. It was you know,
[9:19] Speaker 2: that's just refreshing to see a guy if you're a
[9:21] Speaker 2: Raider fan, this guy really cared about my organization, even
[9:24] Speaker 2: though we're the butt of everyone's jokes. You could tell
[9:26] Speaker 2: it was difficult for him because he kind of hasked
[9:28] Speaker 2: to sign off on this as well. And I just
[9:31] Speaker 2: think that listen, he's you know these coaches, he is
[9:35] Speaker 2: as highly thought of as any one you're gonna find
[9:37] Speaker 2: in the NFL. I mean, he's been sober for six years.
[9:40] Speaker 2: He's in there every morning at five am. He is
[9:43] Speaker 2: a no bullshit guy. He plays the game like he practices,
[9:47] Speaker 2: and he's an impact player at a premium position. The
[9:51] Speaker 2: Ravens ger getting a really really I mean a Hall
[9:54] Speaker 2: of Fame level guy.
[9:55] Speaker 1: So in the last five years, the Ravens have blown
[9:58] Speaker 1: the most fourth quarter leads. Now the last two they're
[10:01] Speaker 1: seventeen and five if Lamar is playing, and they lead
[10:05] Speaker 1: in the fourth quarter. So they're better at it. But
[10:08] Speaker 1: I get I get them saying, Okay, we planned a
[10:12] Speaker 1: division with Joe Burrow, you know, probably Aaron Rodgers, Josh Allen, Mahomes,
[10:22] Speaker 1: Herbert C. J. Strouder in the division. I think what
[10:24] Speaker 1: Baltimore is saying is and I thought Green Bay did
[10:27] Speaker 1: this as well. We're just gonna go it's our Mariano Rivera.
[10:31] Speaker 1: We're gonna go get a closer if because I know
[10:35] Speaker 1: Bill Paulion told me this years ago. He said, when
[10:37] Speaker 1: we drafted Peyton Manning, we knew we would lead most
[10:40] Speaker 1: of our games in the fourth quarter. That's why Dwight
[10:43] Speaker 1: Freeding was so valuable, is that, you know Max. I
[10:46] Speaker 1: said this the other day on FS one. Think how
[10:50] Speaker 1: great Max Crosby was. How often do the Raiders lead
[10:53] Speaker 1: in the fourth Never? Never, there's nine minutes to go,
[10:57] Speaker 1: Teams are running the ball on the Raiders. They're trying
[11:00] Speaker 1: to kill the clock. They don't want players hurt. They're
[11:02] Speaker 1: trying to get out of Vegas and go home. Max
[11:04] Speaker 1: Crosby now is going to be his last twelve snaps
[11:09] Speaker 1: are going to be sacked. But his last twelve snaps
[11:12] Speaker 1: with the Raiders are usually you know, it's a run play.
[11:16] Speaker 1: So I think I think the Ravens are gonna listen.
[11:19] Speaker 1: The bottom line is if Max is a monster for
[11:22] Speaker 1: two years and they get to an AFC championship, you're
[11:24] Speaker 1: going to look at it and go worth it. The
[11:27] Speaker 1: only thing it's funny with the Raiders, John and and
[11:29] Speaker 1: I you being a former scout, So the Raiders have
[11:33] Speaker 1: so many picks now, so two first, the second, the third,
[11:36] Speaker 1: three fourths fists. They can have multiple picks. But Tom
[11:39] Speaker 1: Tellesco told me this years ago. He said, you know,
[11:42] Speaker 1: you have to be careful about being too young. You know.
[11:45] Speaker 1: Let's say you could trade a great player and get
[11:47] Speaker 1: four picks. He said, I'd sometimes rather have three picks
[11:50] Speaker 1: in a player. The Raiders are going to rebuild their franchise,
[11:55] Speaker 1: but people should be patient. But with that many picks,
[11:59] Speaker 1: like I could see the if they have three fourth
[12:01] Speaker 1: round picks, I could see them using two of them
[12:03] Speaker 1: and getting a second third. Like I look at the
[12:06] Speaker 1: Raiders and I think to myself, in that division, it's
[12:09] Speaker 1: not just about making sure your picks can play. You
[12:11] Speaker 1: need impact guys.
[12:13] Speaker 2: Yeah, I think. I think one thing they have to
[12:15] Speaker 2: do over the next I don't know three or four days,
[12:19] Speaker 2: is potentially overpay a high level, veteran winning type guy.
[12:25] Speaker 2: You know, get a guy who has been a part
[12:28] Speaker 2: of a winner, who is a high character team leader.
[12:32] Speaker 2: If you got to overpay them, and listen, they got
[12:33] Speaker 2: advantages people like living in Vegas, no state income tax.
[12:36] Speaker 2: It's not like a tough sell in free agency in football.
[12:40] Speaker 2: This isn't basketball or baseball like these guys go where
[12:43] Speaker 2: you give them the most money. And I would imagine
[12:45] Speaker 2: Spike Tech because he can't he game from Tampa, where
[12:48] Speaker 2: by the time Brady got there, they had the infrastructure.
[12:51] Speaker 2: Tom just provided that veteran leadership and now once he left,
[12:54] Speaker 2: all those guys were equipped because they just watched Tom.
[12:57] Speaker 2: And then you had the Vita veas you had them.
[12:58] Speaker 2: You know, Mike Evans was already high level guy. If
[13:01] Speaker 2: I'm the Raiders, Hey, Mike, who's offering you? What? What's
[13:04] Speaker 2: the most you got at ten? Hey Waffery of fifteen,
[13:06] Speaker 2: you know you've already wanted Super Bowl. You're already going
[13:09] Speaker 2: to the Hall of Fame. We will overpay for what
[13:11] Speaker 2: you bring in tangibly to our facility, because, like you said,
[13:16] Speaker 2: you can't put that all on Medoza, you can't put
[13:18] Speaker 2: that all on Carnel Tait or whoever you take with
[13:21] Speaker 2: the fourteenth pick. You're gonna need some guys for them
[13:23] Speaker 2: to look up to. And that was Max, who is
[13:26] Speaker 2: probably as good as anyone, and he's like him Fred Warnerly.
[13:29] Speaker 2: It's a short list of like you could not meet
[13:32] Speaker 2: a human that can say a bad word about these guys.
[13:34] Speaker 2: And then when you factor in how good of a
[13:36] Speaker 2: player they are. But I thought that like it had
[13:40] Speaker 2: come to the you know, the happiest three guys in
[13:41] Speaker 2: the league, not in Baltimore. They're Jim Harbaugh, Andy Reid,
[13:44] Speaker 2: Sean Payton. Because the Raiders have not been a good team,
[13:47] Speaker 2: but they were a pain to play when Max is
[13:49] Speaker 2: playing because he could just throw off. Those are three
[13:52] Speaker 2: offensive guys, you know, Andy, I mean, talk to Andy
[13:55] Speaker 2: about him. I mean he revers Max. I at think I
[13:58] Speaker 2: read something Sean Payton at Max Crosby at Techs yesterday.
[14:02] Speaker 2: So I mean, these guys they don't just they're pretty
[14:05] Speaker 2: numb to good players right now. They view Max as
[14:08] Speaker 2: like high level respect because they also know how bad
[14:10] Speaker 2: that team's been and now good. Remember we turn on
[14:13] Speaker 2: like random Friday night Blackfry or was it Christmas Eve
[14:16] Speaker 2: games and the Raiders are playing the Broncos. It's like, God,
[14:19] Speaker 2: this is hard, you know because Max, Yeah.
[14:23] Speaker 1: No, they often played the Chiefs and the Broncos tight.
[14:27] Speaker 1: You know the utter thing I thought about, think about
[14:29] Speaker 1: Joe Burrow. So they let Trey Hendrickson walk instead of
[14:33] Speaker 1: trading him for a really good player, like like the Raiders,
[14:36] Speaker 1: John spy tech smartly did. He got a two first
[14:39] Speaker 1: round picks out of it. The Bengals classic Bengals let
[14:42] Speaker 1: Trey Hendrickson, who's not as good as Max Crosby, but
[14:45] Speaker 1: he's a very good player. They let him walk. So
[14:48] Speaker 1: Burrow now in his division has Max Crosby twice a year,
[14:51] Speaker 1: Miles Garrett twice a year, and DJ Watt twice a year,
[14:55] Speaker 1: and his rush end is gone. I have theori with
[15:00] Speaker 1: I just saw a picture of it was Joe Burrow.
[15:03] Speaker 1: I think it's this offseason in Vegas playing with some
[15:06] Speaker 1: like celebrity and beautiful.
[15:07] Speaker 2: I think it was just Galba.
[15:10] Speaker 1: And my take is Burrow, just for his sanity, has
[15:15] Speaker 1: really enjoyed his off seasons because I think deep down
[15:21] Speaker 1: he knows, you know, I'm not playing with the same
[15:24] Speaker 1: level of scouting department. We don't make deals during the deadline.
[15:28] Speaker 1: I mean letting Trey Hendrickson walk and getting nothing for him.
[15:31] Speaker 1: It's just it's to me, it's outrageous, and I think
[15:35] Speaker 1: sometimes fans don't understand, like the most exciting thing about
[15:39] Speaker 1: the Raiders is not Fernando Mendoza and it's not Clint Kobiac.
[15:43] Speaker 1: It's John spytech. You have a competent general manager who's
[15:46] Speaker 1: deal making. So I don't know. I look at I
[15:50] Speaker 1: look at the Bengals letting Trey Hendrickson walk, and I
[15:53] Speaker 1: look at Joe Burrow and I think, God, that division
[15:56] Speaker 1: and the Bengals, for the record, have a bottom ten
[15:58] Speaker 1: offensive line.
[15:59] Speaker 2: Adding too, I at this point in time, I mean,
[16:03] Speaker 2: he signed a contract with a pretty questionable organization. Now
[16:08] Speaker 2: you're young, to offer you a ton of money, It's
[16:10] Speaker 2: it's easy to say, looking back several years, you know
[16:12] Speaker 2: what you're signing up for. It does inevitably have a
[16:16] Speaker 2: feel of like Sean McVay trading three ones, three twos
[16:19] Speaker 2: and three threes for him next offseason when he kind
[16:22] Speaker 2: of makes a stink in demands a trade. I mean,
[16:23] Speaker 2: this thing feels headed toward a weird spot. Now, offensively
[16:27] Speaker 2: they are pretty good, you know, defensively some major question
[16:30] Speaker 2: mark still, but I mean they were kind of in
[16:33] Speaker 2: the mix in a weird way, you know, the last
[16:36] Speaker 2: couple of years with a lot of flaws. So now
[16:39] Speaker 2: Joe's got to stay healthy as well. But I hear you,
[16:42] Speaker 2: I mean they I still think they could be competitive,
[16:45] Speaker 2: and if he plays seventeen games. They're going to be
[16:48] Speaker 2: a playoff level competitive team.

[17:52] Speaker 1: conditions apply. Concerned about gambling in Florida, call one eighty
[17:56] Speaker 1: and eight. Admit it in Indiana. If you are somebody
[17:58] Speaker 1: you know has a problem wants help, call one eight
[18:00] Speaker 1: hundred and nine with it. Gambling problem called one eight
[18:02] Speaker 1: hundred gambler Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, New Jersey, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia.
[18:10] Speaker 1: I was thinking about this. So the Colts Chris Ballard
[18:13] Speaker 1: last year gave up two firsts for sast Garden or
[18:16] Speaker 1: a corner who is one of the more athletic corners
[18:19] Speaker 1: in the league. The Ravens give up two first for
[18:22] Speaker 1: a great but older Max Crosby. The Rams have made
[18:26] Speaker 1: a habit of it, give up a first and a
[18:29] Speaker 1: third next year for Trent McDuffie, which is interesting because
[18:32] Speaker 1: next year you'd think they want the third because it's
[18:36] Speaker 1: the quarterback draft. And by giving up the first year
[18:40] Speaker 1: this year they're the second first. They're not going to
[18:42] Speaker 1: get Ty Simpson, who many speculated, And by giving up
[18:46] Speaker 1: a third next year, well, what can they What can
[18:49] Speaker 1: they give up? If they have to move up and
[18:51] Speaker 1: get an arch Manning or a top seven or eight quarterback.
[18:53] Speaker 1: It's going to be a great draft for quarterbacks next year.
[18:57] Speaker 1: And I was just wondering watching Chris Ballard and Sauce
[19:00] Speaker 1: Gardner and the Ravens DaCosta do that with Max Crosby,
[19:04] Speaker 1: and I do wonder, John, if this is a copycat league,
[19:08] Speaker 1: if the Rams have had real influence on the way
[19:11] Speaker 1: people look at first round picks, is that thirty percent
[19:15] Speaker 1: are busts, especially if it's the bottom eight to ten
[19:19] Speaker 1: picks in the first round. And I'm just looking at
[19:22] Speaker 1: these organizations, you know, giving up first and second round picks.
[19:27] Speaker 1: Do you think they're the Rams? Because basically they win
[19:30] Speaker 1: a Super Bowl, they have one rebuild year, and they
[19:33] Speaker 1: make the playoffs since and next year they'll be favored
[19:34] Speaker 1: to win the Super Bowl. Do you think the Rams
[19:36] Speaker 1: have a little bit of influence on this.
[19:38] Speaker 2: I I think they're more of an outlier because they
[19:41] Speaker 2: have consistently won when they've made the trades. I mean,
[19:44] Speaker 2: Ballard made that trade, which I respect. I would say
[19:46] Speaker 2: he's known as a conservative. GM is a little unlike
[19:50] Speaker 2: his track record, right to go all in and it
[19:53] Speaker 2: blew up in his face, Sauce got hurt, Daniel Jones
[19:56] Speaker 2: got hurt, Khalil Mack was traded for a couple first
[19:58] Speaker 2: round picks. They they never won a playoff game. I
[20:01] Speaker 2: mean a lot of times, Trey Lance, I mean they
[20:03] Speaker 2: went all in on that move. It blew up in
[20:05] Speaker 2: their face. They got lucky with Perty. I think it's more,
[20:07] Speaker 2: you know, the Ravens. I view the Ravens, the Rams
[20:10] Speaker 2: and the Bills are teams with all their chips in
[20:13] Speaker 2: the middle of the table this year, and if you're
[20:15] Speaker 2: the Rams, like they've been like that for a decade
[20:18] Speaker 2: close so to me, they've been operating pretty consistently like this,
[20:21] Speaker 2: and especially with Matt and I think when you look
[20:24] Speaker 2: at the other two teams, they go, we got two
[20:25] Speaker 2: Hall of Fame quarterbacks. It's now or never. I mean
[20:27] Speaker 2: both guys, like, are they going to be thriving at
[20:30] Speaker 2: thirty seven? I think you'd probably bet against it. The
[20:33] Speaker 2: way Lamar and Josh play during the prime of their career. Now,
[20:36] Speaker 2: I think there are anything less to me than an
[20:38] Speaker 2: AFC championship for either one of those two teams is
[20:40] Speaker 2: a disaster. I think you look at the Colts, do
[20:44] Speaker 2: you think if we were having a cocktail with chrisy Go.
[20:46] Speaker 2: I regret doing the Sauce thing, knowing what I know now.
[20:48] Speaker 2: Right we missed the playoffs, Daniel got hurt. It blew
[20:51] Speaker 2: up in my face. At the time, I thought it
[20:53] Speaker 2: was the right move, But sitting here today, it wasn't
[20:56] Speaker 2: the right move. Well, it just was.
[20:58] Speaker 1: Yeah. I'm not a huge and I've said this before.
[21:02] Speaker 1: I think cornerback is an ego position. So I would
[21:05] Speaker 1: prefer to draft him third round. Down you get a
[21:08] Speaker 1: more humble athlete, because I think if you get drafted high,
[21:10] Speaker 1: first round, middle first round, you know, Patrick Sertans obviously great,
[21:14] Speaker 1: But I do think it's an ego position. I think
[21:16] Speaker 1: you need so much confidence to play corner because you're
[21:20] Speaker 1: I mean, if you go, you get burned constantly and
[21:23] Speaker 1: you have to have a short memory and it cannot
[21:25] Speaker 1: affect you. So what makes the great corners like Deon
[21:29] Speaker 1: Sanders is a remarkable ego and self confidence. Unless it's
[21:34] Speaker 1: a no brainer, and Sauce was arguably the best athlete
[21:38] Speaker 1: in his class. I remember watching him play Notre Dame
[21:40] Speaker 1: in college. I said it on the air, I'm like,
[21:43] Speaker 1: that's the best college football player. I saw all year
[21:45] Speaker 1: was Sauce Gardner when he played Notre Dame, and they's
[21:47] Speaker 1: just like, we're not interested in even going to his
[21:49] Speaker 1: side of the field. But I always think it's a quarterback,
[21:54] Speaker 1: left tackle, defensive tackle or ed rush and these days
[21:58] Speaker 1: weapon I also think centers are undervalued. Ben Johnson goes
[22:02] Speaker 1: out and gets Drew Dolman, Tyler Linderbaum's gonna have a
[22:05] Speaker 1: huge market. So I don't know, like I respected Chris
[22:09] Speaker 1: Pouder doing it. I don't love. I don't love giving
[22:13] Speaker 1: up a lot for corners.
[22:15] Speaker 2: Yeah, to me, the corner you know, Jalen Ramsey is
[22:17] Speaker 2: one of the most talented players of the Internet era,
[22:20] Speaker 2: right and the Rams went all in with multiple first
[22:22] Speaker 2: round picks. To me, he's dramatically better than Sauce. I
[22:25] Speaker 2: had someone that was part of the Jets in previous years.
[22:30] Speaker 2: Say one issue Sauce had is they started officiating, you know,
[22:34] Speaker 2: the bump and run and physical corners a little more difficult,
[22:38] Speaker 2: where some of these guys like Patrick Chirtan can do both.
[22:41] Speaker 2: He can get up in you, but he could also
[22:43] Speaker 2: just run with you. Sauce is a four or five
[22:46] Speaker 2: five guy. He needs to bump you he's long, you know,
[22:50] Speaker 2: and it's like once they start throwing flags with him
[22:53] Speaker 2: being really physical, it becomes more difficult. Richard Sherman wanted
[22:57] Speaker 2: to get up in you at the line of scrimmage
[22:59] Speaker 2: and he's huge. He's like, I'm gonna I'm gonna throw
[23:01] Speaker 2: you around. Derek Stingley, who some consider one of the
[23:04] Speaker 2: best Corns in the league, is like a Dion level athlete.
[23:07] Speaker 2: He's like, I don't even need to touch you. I
[23:08] Speaker 2: just follow you on your hip all over the place.
[23:11] Speaker 2: So to me, you know, McDuffie's got a little of that.
[23:13] Speaker 2: Now he'll tackle and the one thing. So it's like
[23:16] Speaker 2: and again it's it's easy to play Monday morning quarterback.
[23:19] Speaker 2: As things go wrong. My point is when you go
[23:21] Speaker 2: all in on these moves, there's a lot out of
[23:25] Speaker 2: your control, right. I mean, Chris Balldener never thought Daniel
[23:28] Speaker 2: Jones gonna tear as achilles. I mean, he looked like
[23:30] Speaker 2: he was gonna win the MVP of the league. So
[23:32] Speaker 2: you know, no different, like they're gonna need Lamar. The
[23:35] Speaker 2: pressure now on these guys like the Ravens can't just
[23:38] Speaker 2: go ten and seven. There's gonna be expectation on them
[23:41] Speaker 2: to be the number one seed. Same thing with the Bills,
[23:44] Speaker 2: and now these are organizations that are used to winning,
[23:47] Speaker 2: so it's not but both of them have new young
[23:49] Speaker 2: court coaches who I think are really high level guys,
[23:52] Speaker 2: both of them. But that's it's one thing like if
[23:54] Speaker 2: you give a Mike Tomlin, a John or Jim Harbaugh,
[23:58] Speaker 2: this is the first time the guy's ever sitting in
[23:59] Speaker 2: the sea and then it's like, hey, AFC Championship game minimum,
[24:02] Speaker 2: or it's gonna be viewed as a failure, that's right,
[24:05] Speaker 2: And so that's it's just these are intense environments. These
[24:08] Speaker 2: are intense jobs. They're great jobs. We talked about this
[24:10] Speaker 2: with the Packers years ago. It's not very often you
[24:13] Speaker 2: get the DeVante Adams all these some defensive guys. Aaron Rodgers.
[24:17] Speaker 2: I think the Bills and the Ravens are a different
[24:20] Speaker 2: animal because they've never won with these two quarterbacks in terms,
[24:24] Speaker 2: They've never even got to the Super Bowl.
[24:26] Speaker 1: And there are quarterbacks Josh and Lamar have taken a
[24:29] Speaker 1: few hits. They're they're odometers, you know, there's there's some
[24:34] Speaker 1: mileage on it. I mean, Lamar last year did not
[24:37] Speaker 1: look burst wise like.
[24:38] Speaker 2: The same close, not even close.
[24:40] Speaker 1: I mean I think I said at one time I
[24:42] Speaker 1: saw it on a Sunday night football broadcast. I mean,
[24:44] Speaker 1: he was like three miles an hour slower. He just
[24:48] Speaker 1: looked like he looked like an athletic guy, not like
[24:50] Speaker 1: the super freak that we had seen the first five
[24:53] Speaker 1: years in the league.
[24:53] Speaker 2: So yeah, Josh need surgery. Right after the surgery or
[24:57] Speaker 2: right after the season, he was inn he was on
[24:59] Speaker 2: a crutch his for a couple of weeks.
[25:01] Speaker 1: So I think that's a reality. Just it was interesting
[25:04] Speaker 1: the Trent McDuffie move, I mean spags multiple players for
[25:09] Speaker 1: the Chiefs. Patrick Mahomes is like, yikes. They all go
[25:13] Speaker 1: publicly to Twitter and the Rams and the Chiefs have
[25:17] Speaker 1: never been as high generally on corners. But I think
[25:20] Speaker 1: for the Rams the move is obvious John because it
[25:22] Speaker 1: is the one liability of a super Bowl team, and
[25:24] Speaker 1: the minute they signed him, they had the odds increased
[25:27] Speaker 1: their super Bowl favorite, so it made a ton of sense.
[25:30] Speaker 1: But I do wonder I said it on the air
[25:33] Speaker 1: and I kind of believe it. I do believe the
[25:36] Speaker 1: Chiefs are in a rebuild. It's not something you advertise,
[25:41] Speaker 1: but if I said to you after Chris Jones had
[25:43] Speaker 1: a below average season, who's their second best player after Mahomes,
[25:48] Speaker 1: I mean carloftis I'm not sure.
[25:51] Speaker 2: If it would probably be the garter, the center, you know,
[25:54] Speaker 2: and that's who is it. That's not ideal. It's probably
[25:57] Speaker 2: you know, Tray Smith who did not have a good year,
[25:59] Speaker 2: Creed Humphrey. You know, in theory if he probably crazed.
[26:04] Speaker 2: What he could become is the left tackle from Ohio State,
[26:07] Speaker 2: Josh Shimmons. But I mean in the middle of the
[26:08] Speaker 2: season he just disappears. So I mean it's yeah. I mean,
[26:11] Speaker 2: this is a massive draft form. They have the ninth
[26:14] Speaker 2: overall pick and that means the ninth overall pick in
[26:16] Speaker 2: every round, so they could really change the fortunes of
[26:19] Speaker 2: their franchise. I think it's going to be interesting. You know,
[26:24] Speaker 2: historically in football and coach Reed's been a part a
[26:27] Speaker 2: lot of these, you kind of just draw a line
[26:29] Speaker 2: in the sand and be like, listen, we love you.
[26:31] Speaker 2: You're an extremely important player in the history of this organization.
[26:34] Speaker 2: But we're just moving on. John Schneider and how he
[26:38] Speaker 2: have done this countless times, and he's done this manytime.
[26:40] Speaker 2: Travis Kelce like Travis. Listen, we'd have you back, but
[26:43] Speaker 2: for like four million dollars, right, you know, so if
[26:46] Speaker 2: someone else wants to give you twelve or whatever, we
[26:48] Speaker 2: love you. We will build a statue. But like it's
[26:51] Speaker 2: over man. Yeah, And that's what's going to be interesting
[26:55] Speaker 2: these next couple of days. Like, if they're doing that,
[26:57] Speaker 2: then I'd be like, Okay, the Chiefs, they're truly kind
[27:00] Speaker 2: of pivoting into this new era. Belichick did it. They
[27:03] Speaker 2: got they kept Brady, they're keeping ma homes and then
[27:06] Speaker 2: you move into mccordy, Edelman, Gronk right, the high Tower,
[27:10] Speaker 2: and that propelled them. If the Chiefs have an excellent offseason, draft,
[27:14] Speaker 2: a couple of little guys here in free agency, in
[27:16] Speaker 2: a couple of years, they can be back to being
[27:18] Speaker 2: a thirteen or fourteen win team. So it's gonna be
[27:20] Speaker 2: really difficult in this division this year. I think the
[27:22] Speaker 2: Chargers Khalil's back, now, they're gonna be I mean, they
[27:25] Speaker 2: got a chance to compete for the number one seed
[27:26] Speaker 2: for sure. In the Broncos. I mean their talent on
[27:29] Speaker 2: their teams speaks for itself. I mean they were all
[27:31] Speaker 2: over the place offensively this year. And we're the number
[27:33] Speaker 2: one seed. So it's like, I'd be a little shocking,
[27:36] Speaker 2: right if they didn't win eleven twelve games again next year.
[27:39] Speaker 2: So I think the Chiefs you got to look probably
[27:41] Speaker 2: more twenty twenty seven. They also made a decision like
[27:44] Speaker 2: from what I've heard, McDuffie is everything you'd off the field.
[27:48] Speaker 2: He's an A plus on the field, excellent nickel corner,
[27:52] Speaker 2: good outside corner. It's like, well, we can't give, Like
[27:55] Speaker 2: they're in a position now where these numbers are getting huge,
[27:58] Speaker 2: like are we gonna give thirty million dollars? The Rams
[28:00] Speaker 2: really need something? Yeah, it's not that they don't, like
[28:05] Speaker 2: you know, when they got rid of Hill, They're like, yeah,
[28:08] Speaker 2: we don't really trust everything that's going on here. This
[28:11] Speaker 2: was simply a financial like we're not comfortable where the
[28:13] Speaker 2: market is right now, and you're not. At the end
[28:17] Speaker 2: of the day, He's not like Revus or something outside
[28:19] Speaker 2: he's an excellent nickel, good tackler, and he was valuable
[28:22] Speaker 2: to the Rams, clearly. But the Rams were also house
[28:24] Speaker 2: money a little bit, like do they make this trade
[28:27] Speaker 2: if they didn't do the Falcons trade last year and
[28:30] Speaker 2: I have picked thirteen, Like if they only have one
[28:32] Speaker 2: first round pick. I do wonder if they just trade
[28:34] Speaker 2: twenty nine for McDuffie. This trade was easy for them.
[28:37] Speaker 2: They have the thirteenth overall pick, so it's like, yeah,
[28:39] Speaker 2: let's take twenty nine. You know we don't. We rarely
[28:43] Speaker 2: have that pick anyway when we do have that pick,
[28:46] Speaker 2: So I think it was kind of a unique circumstance.
[28:48] Speaker 2: This is where the spy tech. No one came close
[28:52] Speaker 2: to offering a pick as high as fourteen for Max
[28:55] Speaker 2: Crosby and the Chiefs. I don't think anyone in the
[28:58] Speaker 2: first round. I bet most of the teams that wanted
[29:01] Speaker 2: McDuffie were the good teams, and their first pick they
[29:04] Speaker 2: were offering were the second round, which is going to
[29:06] Speaker 2: be in the fifties. So I think both teams got
[29:08] Speaker 2: to a point like, hey, we love these guys. We
[29:11] Speaker 2: could keep playing with these guys, but we also have
[29:14] Speaker 2: to think big picture, and they just got They just
[29:16] Speaker 2: got an amount of money or amount of draft capital they
[29:18] Speaker 2: couldn't refuse. Why both these trades happened so early, Yeah.
[29:22] Speaker 1: I mean I did this a couple of days ago. John,
[29:24] Speaker 1: we can do this right here, I said, you know,
[29:27] Speaker 1: the great quarterback's got a lot of help. If I
[29:29] Speaker 1: said to you my heard hierarchy my top ten next year,
[29:33] Speaker 1: I would put the Rams today number one. Fair I
[29:40] Speaker 1: will say this, I think Gabe Davis is a really
[29:43] Speaker 1: I think he or DJ Moore, I think DJ Moore
[29:46] Speaker 1: is a really big deal for Buffalo. I think it is.
[29:50] Speaker 1: So I'll pick up buff Two.
[29:52] Speaker 2: Years ago when the Bears were in shambles, he got
[29:54] Speaker 2: like ninety six balls. People act this year was weird
[29:56] Speaker 2: new offense. Him and kleb b had a bunch of
[29:58] Speaker 2: other weapons. People act like DJ Morrison. Guy that's gonna
[30:01] Speaker 2: be in the UFL in two years. Like guys he's
[30:03] Speaker 2: he might not be justin Jefferson the year, but he's
[30:05] Speaker 2: a he's a winning play he's a good player.
[30:07] Speaker 1: Oh he's a I mean, listen, I watched every Bear snap.
[30:10] Speaker 1: The reality is Colston Loveland became such a huge player
[30:16] Speaker 1: for Caleb not shocking. He goes with another young guy,
[30:20] Speaker 1: so like a lot of it's just Luther Burden exploded
[30:23] Speaker 1: at the end of the year. Colston loved it. And
[30:24] Speaker 1: they have a terrific run game. And oh, by the way,
[30:27] Speaker 1: it's Chicago, it gets cold. You don't throw the ball
[30:30] Speaker 1: down the field as much. So I would say Rams
[30:33] Speaker 1: won Buffalo two. I'd probably put Seattle three, and then
[30:41] Speaker 1: then it gets very interesting. I tend to think Detroit
[30:44] Speaker 1: getting Arizona's offensive coordinator because we both like Holmes the GM,
[30:49] Speaker 1: we like their we like their roster. I think Detroit
[30:52] Speaker 1: is gonna, you know, rebound. But then it gets really interesting. God,
[31:01] Speaker 1: I don't want to sound like an LA Homer and
[31:04] Speaker 1: a Chicago Homer, but I would probably do Chargers five,
[31:07] Speaker 1: Chicago Bears six. Am I crazy.
[31:10] Speaker 2: I'd have the Chargers really high. I think there are
[31:13] Speaker 2: a lot of wild card NFC teams. I would put Chicago,
[31:16] Speaker 2: I would put Philly. I would put the Niners. I
[31:20] Speaker 2: think these next two months are really big for them.
[31:22] Speaker 2: You know, they have some holes, they got some moving parts,
[31:24] Speaker 2: you know, I mean the Niners. You know, curveball is
[31:28] Speaker 2: always Kyle. I mean we saw him this year play
[31:30] Speaker 2: Philly in that playoff game. So it's like, if they're
[31:33] Speaker 2: just semi healthy, they're going to be competitive. The Eagles
[31:35] Speaker 2: are just gonna have so many good players every year
[31:38] Speaker 2: because of their GM. So, but they're running the Shanahan
[31:42] Speaker 2: system with Jalen Hurts, with this young quarterback from Oregon State.
[31:45] Speaker 2: You and I've been watching since the PAC twelve and
[31:48] Speaker 2: Sean Manion like, that's good luck to the guy, but
[31:51] Speaker 2: go get ready for the pressure cooker, young fellow, because
[31:53] Speaker 2: that is what a way to start your career. I
[31:55] Speaker 2: think the Giants are gonna be much improved. The Cowboys
[31:57] Speaker 2: have a bunch of amo. If their defense is just decent,
[31:59] Speaker 2: the offense is really good. I think the NFC is
[32:02] Speaker 2: really to me, the AFC, it's pretty clear, like Buffalo
[32:06] Speaker 2: is clearly top notch. If Lamar is solid, the Ravens
[32:09] Speaker 2: are gonna be really good. The Chargers are gonna be awesome.
[32:11] Speaker 2: Denver's gonna be good. I think the NFC goes like
[32:13] Speaker 2: nine or ten deep, because if you tell me again
[32:17] Speaker 2: back to the Jerry trade with Micah Parsons, they are
[32:20] Speaker 2: Micah Parsons injury away from that pick being like, the
[32:23] Speaker 2: Packers look like they were gonna win twelve or thirteen games.
[32:26] Speaker 2: They were killing the Bears in that playoff game until
[32:28] Speaker 2: it unraveled in the second half. I mean, I think
[32:31] Speaker 2: the Packers are pretty good, you know. I think I
[32:33] Speaker 2: think Micah Polson's healthy. This is such a well run organization.
[32:38] Speaker 1: This is my point though, I look at the look.
[32:40] Speaker 1: I just wrote down my ten favorite teams next year
[32:42] Speaker 1: right now and after free agency Rams, Buffalo, Seattle, Chargers, Chicago, Detroit, Denver, Philly,
[32:51] Speaker 1: Green Bay, Houston. I don't have the Niners. I mean,
[32:54] Speaker 1: I honestly, which is absurd considering I thought Saula and
[32:58] Speaker 1: Shanahan were probably the coaching tandema the year.
[33:01] Speaker 2: Yeah, there are so I mean, I think.
[33:03] Speaker 1: Houston going out and getting a running back. It's like,
[33:07] Speaker 1: I mean, because their defense is good, but.
[33:08] Speaker 2: They are good when they win twelve games. They started
[33:11] Speaker 2: zero to three, so it's I mean, it is, you know,
[33:14] Speaker 2: a sleeper team. I think it was coming on at
[33:16] Speaker 2: the end. Who if they have a high pick in
[33:18] Speaker 2: every round. Is the Saints by the end of the
[33:21] Speaker 2: year that Tyler Shuck looked pretty good and they got
[33:24] Speaker 2: some weapons and divisions a little bit easier. You know,
[33:26] Speaker 2: I think Tampa's got a ton of free agents. We
[33:28] Speaker 2: have to see, like what is really Baker. We've seen
[33:31] Speaker 2: the good and the bad in Tampa. Yeah, you know,
[33:33] Speaker 2: Atlanta's got a ton of moving parts. Carolina, I just
[33:36] Speaker 2: can't buy into the little quarterback. So I could see
[33:39] Speaker 2: the Saints being my team this year that wins like
[33:41] Speaker 2: ten games the division right there. Their schedule is pretty
[33:44] Speaker 2: easy because they finished in the last place. So I
[33:47] Speaker 2: think the NFC, which it was last year, top to bottom.
[33:49] Speaker 2: Even Minnesota they got quarterback issues. They're such a well
[33:52] Speaker 2: coached team. We act like Minnesota in a little bit
[33:56] Speaker 2: like Detroit too had these horrendous seasons because they did
[33:59] Speaker 2: relative to the previous They both went nine to eight.
[34:01] Speaker 2: It's not like they won four games, you know, right,
[34:04] Speaker 2: ask John Morrow what he do for a nine and
[34:06] Speaker 2: eight season, just to have everyone take a deep breath.
[34:08] Speaker 1: So it's I have I've been very encouraged. Free agency
[34:11] Speaker 1: officially starts Wednesday, but I haven't think but the McDuffie move,
[34:14] Speaker 1: the Max Crosby move, the DJ Moore move, Tyler lindebaum is.
[34:19] Speaker 1: I think if you're paying Lamar and Max, it's gonna
[34:22] Speaker 1: be hard, and Kyle Hamilton, it's gonna be very hard
[34:24] Speaker 1: to pay your center what the market's gonna offer. I
[34:28] Speaker 1: think that's the next big shoot to drop the Giants
[34:30] Speaker 1: or the Raiders get Tyler Lindabaum. Is there anything else
[34:33] Speaker 1: out there, a bomb dropping that you would you think
[34:37] Speaker 1: could happen.
[34:38] Speaker 2: I do think once Dj Moore goes for pick sixty,
[34:43] Speaker 2: you know Howie goes, Well, if I'm gonna trade AJ Brown,
[34:46] Speaker 2: I gotta get at least a top forty pick, right,
[34:48] Speaker 2: So it it gets pretty complicated. Most of the teams drafting,
[34:52] Speaker 2: you know, from like thirty two to thirty nine forty
[34:55] Speaker 2: aren't good. AJ doesn't make that much sense to them.
[34:58] Speaker 2: And then you get into the high twenties, like who's trading?
[35:01] Speaker 2: You know, would Kansas City trade pick twenty nine for
[35:03] Speaker 2: a G. Brown? I know, financially, some of these things
[35:06] Speaker 2: become a little complicated. But the other thing is Alec Pierce.
[35:10] Speaker 2: I mean, when Daniel was healthy, he was really good.
[35:13] Speaker 2: And I saw Albert Breer make this point somewhere that
[35:16] Speaker 2: Mike Rabel's best friend is is the Wisconsin head coach Fickle,
[35:22] Speaker 2: and Fickle was the coach of Cincinnati when he was there.
[35:24] Speaker 2: I mean, this is a six to three guy that
[35:25] Speaker 2: can run and go deep. Well, what does Drake may
[35:27] Speaker 2: do well go deep? What do they just do? Get
[35:29] Speaker 2: rid of step On Diggs? So they're wider now they
[35:32] Speaker 2: do have Kyle Williams, the Washington State guy who's also
[35:34] Speaker 2: a vertical threat. I would be stunned if the Patriots
[35:38] Speaker 2: aren't highly you know, interested in Alec Pierce. But there's
[35:42] Speaker 2: also you know, most of these guys, Max Crosby, we
[35:45] Speaker 2: would talk about getting traded right McDuffie that there was
[35:49] Speaker 2: clear some rumblings like they probably weren't going to resign him,
[35:51] Speaker 2: that they would trade him DJ Moore, it was clear
[35:53] Speaker 2: that they were going to pick one of their offensive
[35:55] Speaker 2: guys there has I mean, these gms are really aggressive.
[35:59] Speaker 2: This has turned much more into baseball. And there are Howie.
[36:02] Speaker 2: When I was around Howie, he was an outlier. He
[36:04] Speaker 2: was ready to do deals. No one would do deals.
[36:06] Speaker 2: Now it feels like there's twenty five guys willing to
[36:09] Speaker 2: make moves at any moment, big money moves. These owners
[36:12] Speaker 2: have way more money, so they'll trade salaries. They don't
[36:14] Speaker 2: care about previous signing bonuses. I would get ready for
[36:18] Speaker 2: just there're gonna be a couple of wild cards these
[36:20] Speaker 2: next g There have been some rumors about Jalen Carter,
[36:23] Speaker 2: the Eagles guy, because he's gonna want forty forty five
[36:25] Speaker 2: million dollars a year. So it's like, are you comfortable
[36:28] Speaker 2: investing in the human being because the players excellent, but
[36:31] Speaker 2: the human it's a risky.
[36:32] Speaker 1: Well and the other thing. This is one of the
[36:34] Speaker 1: criticisms I've had with the NBA, and I don't think
[36:38] Speaker 1: Adam Silver. Adam Silver is so concerned about tanking and
[36:44] Speaker 1: dynasties that the NBA now has been replaced by the
[36:48] Speaker 1: NFL and Baseball with trades. Baseball and NFL guys, our
[36:54] Speaker 1: gms are wild day traders.
[36:57] Speaker 2: The NBA.
[36:59] Speaker 1: You can't make these big sweeping deals anymore because of
[37:02] Speaker 1: the aprons, and so it's like, God, the NBA does
[37:06] Speaker 1: so many things. They're like people like dynasties were more
[37:09] Speaker 1: distracted because of our phone. It's like, NBA, you want
[37:13] Speaker 1: the Nicks and the Lakers to be good, You really
[37:15] Speaker 1: want them to be good. I'm watching what these gms
[37:18] Speaker 1: are doing in the NFL, and John this used to
[37:20] Speaker 1: be what the NBA did eight years ago, huge stars,
[37:25] Speaker 1: trading teams.
[37:27] Speaker 2: I know. It's it's really crazy what it's become.
[37:30] Speaker 1: Even within its own conference, like Max and now the
[37:33] Speaker 1: Raiders aren't a threat, but in your own conference you traded.
[37:37] Speaker 2: Yeah. I do think the influx of money. I mean,
[37:40] Speaker 2: I tweeted this out yesterday. I think one thing. Football
[37:44] Speaker 2: obviously has a lot going for it, and it's thriving
[37:47] Speaker 2: right now. It does feel the majority of their players
[37:50] Speaker 2: really really care and are really really invested. And like
[37:54] Speaker 2: you said, when these trades happen, all these guys react.
[37:57] Speaker 2: They're just very invested into the game. They're always You
[38:00] Speaker 2: watch these guys' Twitter accounts during college football Saturday. I mean,
[38:03] Speaker 2: they you can't really play football without being an all
[38:06] Speaker 2: in football guy. You can for a minute, but you
[38:09] Speaker 2: will get exposed. You can't have long careers. Most of
[38:11] Speaker 2: the top guys are kind of junkies, you know. I mean,
[38:15] Speaker 2: and I think you watch Max Crosby talking hearing these
[38:19] Speaker 2: stories about Trent McDuffie. I mean, these guys are just
[38:22] Speaker 2: all in. I think one thing the end that hurts
[38:24] Speaker 2: the NBA. It feels like half the people don't care.
[38:27] Speaker 2: And I'm not even just talking about the players and
[38:28] Speaker 2: the coaches, the gms they're actively trying. It's like, do
[38:31] Speaker 2: you guys care as much as the people watching your sport?
[38:34] Speaker 2: Because if you don't, if the entertainment doesn't care, the
[38:37] Speaker 2: consumer is not going to care. And the one thing
[38:38] Speaker 2: football has, you know, the stories are well document about
[38:42] Speaker 2: the coaches, how they're maniacal workers. It feels like the
[38:45] Speaker 2: players aren't that far behind. So it's like, God, they're
[38:47] Speaker 2: as invested as I am watching these games and following
[38:50] Speaker 2: this sport.
[38:51] Speaker 1: Here are two or three things that fans The ratings
[38:56] Speaker 1: and the clicks prove fans love big trade. NBA doesn't
[39:01] Speaker 1: have them, dynasties baseball, NFL regularly has them, and massive passion.
[39:10] Speaker 1: Well load management has been outrageous in the NBA for
[39:13] Speaker 1: like eight to ten years. Just think about the things
[39:16] Speaker 1: that and this isn't just a dump on the NBA,
[39:19] Speaker 1: but don't overthink the room on this shit. Dynasties, big trades,
[39:25] Speaker 1: guys that live that did cry after losses, that deeply care.
[39:30] Speaker 1: You're not getting that with James Harden like you're not
[39:32] Speaker 1: getting that with the NBA. So I thought that. I
[39:36] Speaker 1: thought the Max Crosby comments were very symbolic of why
[39:42] Speaker 1: we love football. I think you really touch on something.
[39:45] Speaker 1: I think Matt and I've been bringing Max on a
[39:48] Speaker 1: couple of times a year for years. I'd see him
[39:50] Speaker 1: at every UFC fight I went to. He would talk
[39:53] Speaker 1: to anybody any time. Stay with Christian McCaffrey, you come
[39:57] Speaker 1: up and talk to Christian mccaffreey, we'll talk your ear off.
[39:59] Speaker 1: And I think that's it's just a relatability that matters.
[40:03] Speaker 2: And think about this, and I'm going to talk about
[40:05] Speaker 2: this on my podcast. Is that McCaffrey, you know, comes
[40:08] Speaker 2: from I don't want to say NFL royalty, but Ed
[40:11] Speaker 2: was a really good NFL player, went to Stanford, like Christian,
[40:14] Speaker 2: it would max to me, represents the NFL and honestly
[40:18] Speaker 2: kind of society. Didn't go to a school that most
[40:20] Speaker 2: people have heard about. Was not draft. He wasn't even
[40:23] Speaker 2: the first defensive end his own team took in that draft.
[40:25] Speaker 2: They took Cleveland Ferrell in the top five. And when
[40:28] Speaker 2: the dust settles, he just keeps grinding. He had issues
[40:32] Speaker 2: off the field, fixed that, became a great husband, became
[40:36] Speaker 2: a focused guy, started lapping people, and as he got older,
[40:40] Speaker 2: started taking people out in the dust. Because that's the NFL.
[40:45] Speaker 2: Came from a school. It wasn't Alabama or USC. Then
[40:48] Speaker 2: all of a sudden, you look up, the guy's made
[40:49] Speaker 2: nine Pro Bowls and two hundred million dollars. Khalil Mack
[40:53] Speaker 2: just made a I googled it yesterday and like, how
[40:54] Speaker 2: much money is this guy made, but at the end
[40:57] Speaker 2: of next year he'll have made two hundred and twenty
[40:58] Speaker 2: million dollars played a Buffalo and he's stock. He's he
[41:02] Speaker 2: looks incredible last year if it wouldn't have been for
[41:05] Speaker 2: the elbow injury, probably it's ten sacks. So it's like
[41:08] Speaker 2: the NFL is full of guys that, yes, you're gonna
[41:10] Speaker 2: get you know, your Peyton Manning from the sec number
[41:13] Speaker 2: one pick, but you're also gonna get a guy that
[41:16] Speaker 2: was a one year starter that's drafts in the sixth
[41:19] Speaker 2: round become your greatest quarterback of all time. You know,
[41:21] Speaker 2: Joe Montana forever, he was a third round pick who's
[41:25] Speaker 2: six foot one. You know, It's like guys come in
[41:28] Speaker 2: all shapes and sizes, they come all different paths in football.
[41:32] Speaker 2: It's not like some guys have early good starts like
[41:35] Speaker 2: check in after four or five years. Because the NFL
[41:39] Speaker 2: year in year out to be a really good player,
[41:41] Speaker 2: especially in the trenches or a quarterback or a linebacker.
[41:44] Speaker 2: It is. And the other thing, I just think there's
[41:46] Speaker 2: a nature of the sport, whether it's high school, college
[41:49] Speaker 2: or the NFL. Even with nil you're still getting yelled
[41:51] Speaker 2: at at practice, there's a nature your your teammates are
[41:54] Speaker 2: yelling at you. There's a humility that just comes along
[41:58] Speaker 2: with being criticized by your peers and buy your bosses
[42:01] Speaker 2: every single day, which I just think happens less and
[42:04] Speaker 2: less all over. You could argue society, and I think
[42:07] Speaker 2: that helps these NFL guys. They just feel very relatable
[42:10] Speaker 2: when you see him in social settings with just normal
[42:13] Speaker 2: everyday people that they can interact I'd say most of
[42:16] Speaker 2: them pretty easily.
[42:17] Speaker 1: Well, that's why people are so down on Kyler Murray
[42:20] Speaker 1: is he's such an outlier where you're not sure he
[42:22] Speaker 1: loves the sport. That's so rare in football. That's very
[42:26] Speaker 1: common in the NBA, where guys at four o'clock call
[42:29] Speaker 1: up and say, I, you know, I got my ankle hurts.
[42:33] Speaker 1: You know I took a nap, my ankle hurts, and
[42:35] Speaker 1: they don't you know, and I don't. I'm not saying
[42:37] Speaker 1: they're lying, but it's just like you don't play through
[42:39] Speaker 1: certain things.
[42:40] Speaker 2: So to me, that's why to me Kyler like, I
[42:45] Speaker 2: wouldn't be in that business. And if you are in
[42:47] Speaker 2: the business, whoever does sign them, it shows that that
[42:50] Speaker 2: seems pretty desperate. You know pretty desperate.
[42:53] Speaker 1: Today's show is brought to you by our presenting sponsor,
[42:56] Speaker 1: American Beverage. If you think about some of the most
[42:58] Speaker 1: iconic drinks in the country, the ones you grab a barbecue,
[43:02] Speaker 1: the ones you raised to celebrate your team, that have
[43:05] Speaker 1: been part of your story for decades, Coke, Doctor, Pepper, Pepsi,
[43:08] Speaker 1: There's something people don't always think about. The companies behind
[43:11] Speaker 1: those brands are still making their drinks right here in
[43:13] Speaker 1: the US. While there's a lot of talk about bringing
[43:15] Speaker 1: manufacturing back, America's beverage companies never left their American companies,
[43:19] Speaker 1: making American products with American workers in America's hometown. So
[43:22] Speaker 1: two hundred and seventy five thousand men and women across
[43:25] Speaker 1: all fifty states, real jobs, good paying jobs, the kind
[43:28] Speaker 1: of jobs you can raise a family on. So more
[43:30] Speaker 1: than one hundred years, those brands have been part of
[43:32] Speaker 1: everyday lives and they're still here, still investing, still operating
[43:35] Speaker 1: in communities around the country. So if you care about
[43:37] Speaker 1: strong old economies and companies that walk the walk, check
[43:40] Speaker 1: out the good work and what they're doing it. We
[43:42] Speaker 1: deliver for America dot Org. I want to throw this
[43:52] Speaker 1: out because you live in Arizona. I actually I actually
[43:57] Speaker 1: said I would have called the Raiders with the number
[44:02] Speaker 1: three pick and offered like three number ones to get
[44:05] Speaker 1: Fernando Mendoza because I think he's the opposite of Kyler Murray.
[44:08] Speaker 1: I think there's a stink around the franchise that it's
[44:11] Speaker 1: just you know, it's you know, like when Tim Tebow
[44:15] Speaker 1: was in Denver and he won a playoff game, he
[44:17] Speaker 1: was wildly popular. They didn't bring in an average quarterback
[44:20] Speaker 1: to replace him. They went Peyton Manning because they knew
[44:23] Speaker 1: that he had a religious connection with fans. He'd won
[44:25] Speaker 1: a playoff game, he was wildly popular merchandise, and I
[44:29] Speaker 1: feel like to replace Kyler, like ty Simpson's like, you know,
[44:35] Speaker 1: you're not going to have any issues coming from Kaylin
[44:37] Speaker 1: de Borr and Nick Saban. It's a big football program. Mendoza,
[44:42] Speaker 1: I mean Ty Simpson. I also think like I think
[44:45] Speaker 1: one of the more interesting players in the first round
[44:48] Speaker 1: is actually ty Simpson because I think he probably grades
[44:50] Speaker 1: out at about thirty five or forty. But if you're
[44:53] Speaker 1: Arizona and you have the third pick, and you're like, okay,
[44:56] Speaker 1: we can get malanoa the offensive lineman from Miami, or
[45:01] Speaker 1: we could trade down several times and at like fifteen
[45:05] Speaker 1: to eighteen draft high Simpson and get another third, fourth fifth.
[45:09] Speaker 1: What would you do if you're an Arizona or you
[45:10] Speaker 1: would you just take the offensive lineman from Miami.
[45:13] Speaker 2: We're on your trade proposal. I think Spytech would just
[45:17] Speaker 2: have to say no. Even if you go, well, the
[45:19] Speaker 2: Arizona could have the number one pick the following year.
[45:22] Speaker 2: It's almost like the bird in the hand. You know,
[45:24] Speaker 2: the Raiders have been they haven't won a playoff game
[45:26] Speaker 2: in twenty three years. They've only been twice. I think
[45:29] Speaker 2: him and Brady were at that in the Miami National
[45:33] Speaker 2: Championship game and saw him play well, so I think
[45:37] Speaker 2: that was I'm sure they got inquiries. Remember two years
[45:40] Speaker 2: ago everyone wanted Drake May and number three in Elliot
[45:43] Speaker 2: Wolf stayed pretty He's like, now, we're just not interested
[45:45] Speaker 2: in the Giants. Some of these reports of what they
[45:47] Speaker 2: were offered. These are one of those words, Yeah, we'll
[45:49] Speaker 2: call you back. We've got to have a meeting on this,
[45:51] Speaker 2: but you know you got to say no. I'm not
[45:53] Speaker 2: saying that. I'm sure I haven't had speed three. To me,
[45:56] Speaker 2: I'm never a guy like the ty Simpson types. I
[46:00] Speaker 2: would put Mac Jones in this world, you know, Canny
[46:03] Speaker 2: Pickett coming out of college. I can't take those type
[46:06] Speaker 2: guys in the first round. Like I'm not a I
[46:08] Speaker 2: take I have like I understand taking the swings even
[46:12] Speaker 2: when they blow up in your face. On Anthony Richardson
[46:15] Speaker 2: or what the forty nine ers did with Trey Lance,
[46:17] Speaker 2: Uh list Sometimes that looks the worst possible, right Anthony.
[46:21] Speaker 2: It couldn't have gone much worse. Trey Lance was a disaster.
[46:24] Speaker 2: But I get it. To me ty Simpson, I like,
[46:27] Speaker 2: there's a physical kind.
[46:29] Speaker 1: Of limitation, you know.
[46:32] Speaker 2: Yeah, there's just you have to you have to check
[46:34] Speaker 2: some boxes for me to pull the trigger. One year
[46:37] Speaker 2: Starter he did have a good stretch and then he
[46:40] Speaker 2: got a little banged up. Well it's like, you don't
[46:41] Speaker 2: think a guy's gonna get banged up in the pros.
[46:43] Speaker 2: He's not the biggest guy all counts. He's a high
[46:46] Speaker 2: level guy. To me, historically, got those guys went like
[46:49] Speaker 2: after pick fifty. Yeah, and I know things have changed,
[46:53] Speaker 2: but like I'm old enough to remember when guys like
[46:55] Speaker 2: Derek Carr and Jimmy Garoppolo went in the second round
[46:58] Speaker 2: so it's like, there's there's no way he is graded
[47:01] Speaker 2: as high as these offensive linemen and defensive lineman. So
[47:05] Speaker 2: I don't think you're gonna be able to trade down.
[47:07] Speaker 2: That's this draft. I mean, some of the best play
[47:10] Speaker 2: you could argue the best two players after the quarterback,
[47:13] Speaker 2: and they might even be graded as better players. But
[47:15] Speaker 2: the quarterback's value so high would be the Notre Dame
[47:19] Speaker 2: running back Jeremiah Love and Caleb Downs. But like usually
[47:23] Speaker 2: people don't take safeties and running backs at like two
[47:26] Speaker 2: or three. I think there's a chance, Colin. I mean,
[47:28] Speaker 2: I claimed I was gonna watch the combine, then all
[47:31] Speaker 2: of a sudden, I found myself, especially the running backs,
[47:33] Speaker 2: certain positions are a little more intriguing. He gave this
[47:37] Speaker 2: interview after they asked him, hey, could you do some
[47:40] Speaker 2: some receiving drills because you know, a Notre Dame they
[47:43] Speaker 2: don't throw it. It's not like they're running the Shanahan
[47:45] Speaker 2: McVeigh offense. And it's like he could have easily after
[47:49] Speaker 2: he ran a four to three five, said the guys,
[47:50] Speaker 2: I undone, everyone would have understood. He did every running
[47:53] Speaker 2: back drill, and then they asked him, hey, could you
[47:55] Speaker 2: these guys want to see you catch it, no problem.
[47:57] Speaker 2: It's like, jeez, I think the Titan at four could
[48:00] Speaker 2: take Jeremiah Love. I wouldn't even overthink it. Get this
[48:03] Speaker 2: star running back. He's like a Bijon Robinson McCaffrey type.
[48:06] Speaker 2: Put him right with your young quarterback. You have his defensive,
[48:09] Speaker 2: tough head coach like I was a whoa well the
[48:12] Speaker 2: Caleb Downs thing. There have been some rumors about the knee.
[48:14] Speaker 2: I haven't heard anything, but like, both those two guys
[48:17] Speaker 2: are gonna be good NFL players.
[48:18] Speaker 1: The most you know rvel rees people think is a
[48:21] Speaker 1: free athletically, but my take is right now, he's projecting
[48:26] Speaker 1: at certain positions. David Bailey at Texas Tech is a
[48:29] Speaker 1: plug and play rush end. He's not a Bosa. He's
[48:32] Speaker 1: probably probably not Khalil Mack as a prospect. He's not
[48:35] Speaker 1: Aiden Hutchison, but he's good. He's a starter Day one
[48:38] Speaker 1: for anybody in the league. He's a really nice player.
[48:41] Speaker 1: Stanford of Texas Tech good player he already has. He
[48:45] Speaker 1: is a edge rusher. He's the best edge rusher in
[48:47] Speaker 1: the draft. Rvel Reese is an amazing athlete, but he needs
[48:50] Speaker 1: the right coach to make it work, Robert Sala at four.
[48:55] Speaker 1: I trust with Rvel Rees he could say he could
[48:58] Speaker 1: be a little Warner, a little Bosa. I don't trust
[49:01] Speaker 1: Aaron Glenn to find his way to work. I'm not
[49:04] Speaker 1: asking that guy to turn up a project into a
[49:07] Speaker 1: great player. So my take a fascinating pick at number
[49:10] Speaker 1: two is does Aaron Glenn have any smoke in the building,
[49:12] Speaker 1: because I'm telling you he's going get me that guy.
[49:16] Speaker 1: And it's like the ownership has got to be sitting
[49:19] Speaker 1: there thinking how much power are we going to give
[49:21] Speaker 1: Aaron Glenn. Like at the end of last year, John
[49:23] Speaker 1: it had a Freddy Kitchens feel like David Cully where
[49:28] Speaker 1: you're like, wow, this is not a head coach. So
[49:31] Speaker 1: I think the number two pick with the Jets is
[49:33] Speaker 1: fascinating because I would just go get the certain thing.
[49:35] Speaker 1: I would get a Caleb Downs, I'd get a David Bailey,
[49:39] Speaker 1: the offensive lineman who maybe a great guard. Better than
[49:43] Speaker 1: it is not a left tackle, He's a right tackler
[49:45] Speaker 1: or an interior lineman. Rvel Reese to the Jets feels
[49:49] Speaker 1: like trouble.
[49:51] Speaker 2: I think the Jets are your away from people starting
[49:53] Speaker 2: doing some Eli manning to the Chargers and four some
[49:55] Speaker 2: of these quarterbacks going on, I'm not going there. If
[49:59] Speaker 2: Sam has another good year, you go, no chance. We
[50:03] Speaker 2: haven't seen that in a while. But they got that
[50:05] Speaker 2: written all over them. Because the one thing this is
[50:07] Speaker 2: where Mark Davis deserves credit branding with Brady letting him
[50:11] Speaker 2: get in with these two billionaires. Even they have the
[50:14] Speaker 2: number one pick, but they Spike Tech's a high level guy,
[50:17] Speaker 2: but they don't feel like a number one pick organization
[50:19] Speaker 2: because you know Tom that that name like he brings
[50:22] Speaker 2: them credibility. The Jets to me feel like as bad
[50:25] Speaker 2: as it gets. You know, they got a coach who
[50:28] Speaker 2: said he said at the combine calling plays was a superpower.
[50:31] Speaker 2: It's like, well, then, why didn't you do that last year?
[50:33] Speaker 2: You hired a defensive coordinator that you didn't even know
[50:35] Speaker 2: that you fired in the middle of the year. I
[50:38] Speaker 2: think the Jets they franchise tagged Brishall is a good player,
[50:44] Speaker 2: franchise tagging Breese Hall. I have a theory too on
[50:46] Speaker 2: franchise tags, like in this day and age, with the
[50:49] Speaker 2: size of the cap. If you get to the spot
[50:51] Speaker 2: where you have to franchise tag a player, I'll give
[50:54] Speaker 2: the Falcons a little bit of a pass because their
[50:57] Speaker 2: new administration. But if you've been there with the guy,
[51:01] Speaker 2: you know, Jerry, like you know in October November, like
[51:04] Speaker 2: are you gonna get this guy extension? Just get it done?
[51:05] Speaker 2: You should not be in franchise tag situations are something
[51:10] Speaker 2: you should try to avoid at all costs because you
[51:12] Speaker 2: either know you want to extend this guy a big
[51:14] Speaker 2: picture or it's like let's move on from him. But
[51:16] Speaker 2: to extend a running back who Again, I'm not anti
[51:20] Speaker 2: Brese Hall was like you're the Jets, Like what are
[51:22] Speaker 2: we doing? That one, to me kind of symbolizes like
[51:27] Speaker 2: this organization is. You know, sometimes a narrative takes on
[51:31] Speaker 2: a life its own. I think the Jets have well
[51:34] Speaker 2: this stuff is truly self inflicted and brought upon, like
[51:37] Speaker 2: you know, they deserve what everyone's saying about him.
[51:40] Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean Breece Hall. There's data out there not
[51:43] Speaker 1: to sign a running back to a second contract. So
[51:45] Speaker 1: I think Breece Hall is a good player. I don't
[51:46] Speaker 1: think he had a huge market. I just don't think
[51:49] Speaker 1: he did. So my take was sit him down and
[51:51] Speaker 1: be like we like you, We'll give you a reasonable contract.
[51:55] Speaker 2: Yeah, I just look at John Schneider. He drafts Kenneth
[52:00] Speaker 2: high in the second round. Think it was like pick
[52:02] Speaker 2: forty or forty one. The guy has an incredible second
[52:05] Speaker 2: half of the season, leads him. I mean, he's a
[52:07] Speaker 2: huge reason they beat the Rams. Absolutely, he was unobviously
[52:12] Speaker 2: won the Super Bowl MVP, but he was dominant in
[52:14] Speaker 2: that game. But yeah, we're not franchise ttaging. You see
[52:16] Speaker 2: a God speed good luck to you. That's kind of
[52:19] Speaker 2: the NFL. I mean, that's that's what you do. So
[52:21] Speaker 2: it's like, hey, Brice, we appreciate everything you've done. Your
[52:23] Speaker 2: former second round pick here a good talented player, probably
[52:26] Speaker 2: have success somewhere else, but we're not giving you. I
[52:28] Speaker 2: don't even know what the franchise tag is for running
[52:30] Speaker 2: back twelve thirteen million. It's like, what are you doing?
[52:33] Speaker 2: You're not a running back team? Like you have so
[52:35] Speaker 2: many other needs, so many other issues. It made that
[52:38] Speaker 2: that to me was a pretty big head scratcher. Where
[52:40] Speaker 2: are the Falcons? I can understand. It's like, well, it's
[52:42] Speaker 2: Kyle Pitts, who's never really worked for people till last year.
[52:46] Speaker 2: If I'm Stefanski, He's like, let's see if he works
[52:48] Speaker 2: for me? Like I did understand that move, Like instead
[52:51] Speaker 2: of giving him like fifty sixty million dollars guarantee because
[52:54] Speaker 2: he would have got a lot of money on the
[52:56] Speaker 2: open market, Let's just play this out for a year.
[52:58] Speaker 2: If it's not going well, maybe we could trade. I'm
[53:00] Speaker 2: at the middle of the year, and if it does,
[53:02] Speaker 2: we'll extend him in the middle of the season.
[53:05] Speaker 1: John Middlecoff, former NFL scout. Yeah. Free agency begins in
[53:10] Speaker 1: earnest on Wednesday. A good forty five minutes to.
[53:13] Speaker 2: Chat today, Budd, fun time of year the volume.
