[0:57] Speaker 2: Cowboys fourteen. Let's spend a lot of time on this.
[1:00] Speaker 2: So I felt for the first time John and I
[1:04] Speaker 2: wrote it down here. I really felt it. In that
[1:07] Speaker 2: nineteen play drive in the third quarter, I wrote down
[1:11] Speaker 2: Harmony I really thought it was the first time out
[1:14] Speaker 2: of the first drive that I thought Caleb and Ben
[1:18] Speaker 2: there was a certain harmony, like he wasn't rushing anything.
[1:23] Speaker 2: Caleb made a couple of big time throws. Captain in
[1:25] Speaker 2: the end zone, I think it was Dj Moore, but
[1:28] Speaker 2: I did now the Cowboys again, they won the field
[1:31] Speaker 2: position game. Chicago did Dallas ceedee. Lamb got hurt second quarter.
[1:36] Speaker 2: They didn't have a lot of offense in the second half.
[1:39] Speaker 2: And I know Dallas isn't very good defensively, but listen,
[1:42] Speaker 2: half the teams in this league aren't going to be
[1:44] Speaker 2: very good defensively going forward with injuries and personnel. I
[1:48] Speaker 2: thought there was improvement. I thought Caleb he dirted a
[1:51] Speaker 2: couple of easy balls, but I thought there was some
[1:54] Speaker 2: harmony with Ben. Yeah.
[1:56] Speaker 3: I mean, I think the story of the game is
[1:57] Speaker 3: Ben Johnson versus Eberflus, which would be like, you know,
[2:01] Speaker 3: a twenty year old playing a five year old and
[2:03] Speaker 3: pick up basketball.
[2:04] Speaker 2: It's not a fair fight.
[2:05] Speaker 3: I mean, ebra flu is probably I understand, like you said, injuries,
[2:08] Speaker 3: but I think ibra Flus is probably the worst defensive
[2:11] Speaker 3: coordinator going So I have a hard time listen. I
[2:14] Speaker 3: give Caleb credit. He made that That flea flicker is
[2:18] Speaker 3: one of the more beautiful throws you will see all
[2:20] Speaker 3: season long. It felt like it flew night. But I
[2:22] Speaker 3: don't put much emphasis on I mean, they score touchdowns
[2:26] Speaker 3: with guys wide open Command, wide open touchdown, DJ Moore,
[2:29] Speaker 3: wide open touchdown, and Rome I think the first touchdown
[2:31] Speaker 3: of the game. Yeah, was a gig just fell on
[2:33] Speaker 3: the ground, you know, So it's just I listen, I'm
[2:36] Speaker 3: not trying to be negative on this. A wins a win,
[2:39] Speaker 3: cool moment for Ben getting his first win. But I
[2:42] Speaker 3: truly believe that some guys in this league get recycled unfairly,
[2:46] Speaker 3: and Ebra flu is a good example. He is no
[2:47] Speaker 3: business being a defensive court. It's embarrassing. I mean, no one,
[2:50] Speaker 3: there's no one even around. So Caleb's hitting these guys.
[2:54] Speaker 3: There was a stretch early in the second quarter where
[2:56] Speaker 3: he missed a couple of balls over the middle. Yes, yes,
[2:59] Speaker 3: but then he calm down. I thought Ben Johnson, for
[3:02] Speaker 3: the first time this year, had a rhythm in his
[3:03] Speaker 3: play calling. It felt like it felt like Detroit. But
[3:08] Speaker 3: he's facing Iberflus. You know, you face Green Bay Minnesota.
[3:12] Speaker 3: The better defenses it's not like that. So I have
[3:15] Speaker 3: a hard time making a grand proclamation that Caleb's fixed
[3:19] Speaker 3: or anything. But you can only play who you're playing.
[3:21] Speaker 3: And they shredded any hit guys that were wide open.
[3:25] Speaker 3: More of a reflection to me on eber Flues than
[3:27] Speaker 3: it is Caleb is fixed.
[3:29] Speaker 2: But I you know, one thing watching the Bears I
[3:31] Speaker 2: felt is they they do have good offensive personnel. I
[3:34] Speaker 2: mean Jesus Luther Burden, Roma Dunze, DJ Moore, Cole Colston, Loveland.
[3:41] Speaker 2: Swift's a nice back. He's not a star, but he's
[3:44] Speaker 2: a nice back. If you give Caleb reasonable protection, which
[3:48] Speaker 2: he certainly had in the interior, they ran the ball
[3:50] Speaker 2: better today. Here's the one thing is if they become
[3:55] Speaker 2: like the twenty third best scoring team in the league,
[3:59] Speaker 2: it's not going to be on the personnel or ben
[4:01] Speaker 2: They've got good agree with share. They have some really
[4:04] Speaker 2: really even their third string back is a capable player.
[4:08] Speaker 3: I would agree with you there. I think two things
[4:10] Speaker 3: can be true, right Ibra Flus and the Cowboys defensive
[4:12] Speaker 3: personnel might be the worst in the league combination, and
[4:15] Speaker 3: the Bears are not as bad as they have looked
[4:18] Speaker 3: through two games. Offensive personnel standpoint, Listen, is Rome ever
[4:21] Speaker 3: gonna be Malik Neighbors or Jamar Chase? Probably not, but
[4:25] Speaker 3: he's a really good player and he could be probably
[4:27] Speaker 3: a really good two. We know Dj Moore is like
[4:30] Speaker 3: a fringe what one B two, so that they got
[4:32] Speaker 3: two good receivers. Cole Komet's a good tight end, you know,
[4:35] Speaker 3: and he's technically they drafted a guy to supplant him.
[4:37] Speaker 3: So I'm with you there. I'm fascinated to watch listen sometimes,
[4:42] Speaker 3: especially with a young player, a young person, however.
[4:45] Speaker 2: You could get.
[4:45] Speaker 3: Confidence is important. So whether it's against the worst defense
[4:49] Speaker 3: in the league, who cares, right, So now it's can
[4:53] Speaker 3: you build on this? Who do they play next week?
[4:55] Speaker 3: The Raiders who aren't very good? I mean, so that
[4:59] Speaker 3: is something to to keep an eye on it. If
[5:01] Speaker 3: they can build on it, then yeah, then maybe there
[5:03] Speaker 3: is some life here. I just have a hard time
[5:06] Speaker 3: extracting much from throwing it to guys that are wide
[5:10] Speaker 3: open in the NFL, because we know that's not the case.
[5:13] Speaker 3: What fifteen to sixteen of the games that you're going
[5:16] Speaker 3: to play throughout the year, especially that division, which is
[5:19] Speaker 3: a good defensive division.
[5:20] Speaker 2: You know, it's once ceed Lamb got banged up. I mean,
[5:24] Speaker 2: you got Tolbert and Turpin and George Pickens and Javonte
[5:28] Speaker 2: Williams pretty good running back.
[5:30] Speaker 1: But it is.
[5:32] Speaker 2: Listen, here's what you and I both felt coming into
[5:35] Speaker 2: the Cowboys season. This is a bad coaching staff. And
[5:40] Speaker 2: I thought today there was one point it was you know,
[5:43] Speaker 2: it was a fourteen fourteen game, but it was fourteen
[5:48] Speaker 2: three first after the first quarter, and was it fourteen fourteen?
[5:52] Speaker 2: Here do I make a mistake? Here? I was twenty
[5:55] Speaker 2: four to fourteen. I think there was a point in
[5:58] Speaker 2: the game when Cedee Lamb went out and I thought, well,
[6:02] Speaker 2: you know, they've got some pretty decent weapons. But one
[6:06] Speaker 2: of the things that was pretty clear is that Dak
[6:08] Speaker 2: was trying to throw the ball down the field and
[6:10] Speaker 2: was getting pretty good protection, but he couldn't. And so
[6:14] Speaker 2: once Ceedee Lamb was out of the game, he was
[6:18] Speaker 2: looking downfield. You'd see him multiple times, John Dak would
[6:20] Speaker 2: be waiting and waiting to go downfield and he would
[6:23] Speaker 2: dump it off. Is that if you take Cedee Lamb out,
[6:27] Speaker 2: you can see the Cowboys have missed defensively and offensively.
[6:31] Speaker 2: They've missed on draft picks. They have a lot of
[6:33] Speaker 2: C level players.
[6:35] Speaker 3: Well, well, let's take the two teams. You know, coaching staffs.
[6:38] Speaker 3: You know, Ben Johnson obviously is one of the better
[6:40] Speaker 3: offensive coordinators and offensive mines in the league. And even
[6:43] Speaker 3: Brady said Dennis Allen is one of the tougher defensive
[6:46] Speaker 3: coordinators he faced as a player. And I don't think
[6:48] Speaker 3: he's just thrown out there. We've seen him when he
[6:51] Speaker 3: was with the Broncos with Peyton Manning excellent and obviously
[6:54] Speaker 3: when he was with Sean Payton they had a couple
[6:56] Speaker 3: of years where the Saint's defense was excellent. That's why
[6:59] Speaker 3: he got the job when Sewn basically took the year off. Right,
[7:03] Speaker 3: So then you look, Brian Schottenheimer hires eebra Flus. Say
[7:06] Speaker 3: what you want about Mike McCarthy, his new two defensive coordinators.
[7:09] Speaker 3: The last couple, you know, stretch was Dan Quinn and
[7:12] Speaker 3: then Mike Zimmer, Right, I mean those are obviously Dan
[7:15] Speaker 3: Quinn is one of the better coaches in the league.
[7:17] Speaker 3: And Mike Zimmer's resume speaks for itself. So you go
[7:19] Speaker 3: from those two guys to ebra Flus. I can't get over.
[7:23] Speaker 3: I had a buddy one time, tell me he had
[7:26] Speaker 3: because he was a longtime quarterback coach and he became
[7:28] Speaker 3: an offensive coordinator for like one of the worst teams
[7:30] Speaker 3: in the league. And I say, I get the money,
[7:32] Speaker 3: but can't this derail your career? He's no, He's like, actually,
[7:36] Speaker 3: this changes my career because once you go, oh, that
[7:38] Speaker 3: guy's an offensive coordinator, whether you have success or you don't,
[7:41] Speaker 3: you just get in that mix.
[7:43] Speaker 2: Right.
[7:44] Speaker 3: Mike McCarthy, when he became the head coach of the
[7:46] Speaker 3: Green Bay Packers, hadn't been some dynamic offensive coordinator for years,
[7:50] Speaker 3: but he was viewed as like that was the next step.
[7:52] Speaker 3: And I think sometimes guys, you know eber Flus becomes
[7:55] Speaker 3: a head coach, Well, if he's not a head coach,
[7:57] Speaker 3: he's then just a coordinator. You see this with Brandon's
[8:00] Speaker 3: Well what if they're actually just position coaches, you know,
[8:03] Speaker 3: and they get in this cycle and you know, Ben
[8:05] Speaker 3: Johnson gets to play him and was running circles around
[8:08] Speaker 3: him today. I mean the Fleet Flicker is a good example.
[8:10] Speaker 3: Right out of the Fleet Flicker because the guy almost
[8:12] Speaker 3: got tackled. I'm like gonna say, and he hits up
[8:14] Speaker 3: of the guy's wide openness, Like what is going on.
[8:17] Speaker 3: These guys have no clue what they're doing. So listen
[8:19] Speaker 3: to the coaching in this league. It's when you get
[8:22] Speaker 3: good defensive coordinators, it really stands out. The Brian Flores,
[8:25] Speaker 3: the Robert Solis, the Vic Fangios. When you get bad ones,
[8:29] Speaker 3: it really stands out. And I think that was pretty
[8:31] Speaker 3: evident in this game with Ben Johnson. And listen, I'm
[8:35] Speaker 3: not trying to diminish Caleb Williams, but he was throwing
[8:38] Speaker 3: to do wide open guys, which is pretty unheard of.
[8:41] Speaker 3: It happens on a play, but it happened play after
[8:43] Speaker 3: play after play.
[8:44] Speaker 1: I mean it was.
[8:45] Speaker 3: It was an un serious defensive performance.
[8:47] Speaker 2: All right. Rams at one point led twenty six to
[8:51] Speaker 2: seven and lost thirty three to twenty six to Philadelphia.
[8:55] Speaker 2: My first, I have two major takes here. First of all,
[8:58] Speaker 2: the Rams didn't draft corner and that was one of
[9:01] Speaker 2: the curious things. That was one of their primary needs
[9:04] Speaker 2: was maybe a quarterback for the future, and it was
[9:07] Speaker 2: a bad quarterback class and cornerbacks they didn't and AJ
[9:11] Speaker 2: Brown eight today there was a lot of third downs
[9:15] Speaker 2: Devonte Smith and AJ Brown Rams and it wasn't like
[9:19] Speaker 2: they were beaten badly. It wasn't like they were poorly
[9:21] Speaker 2: coached like Dallas. They just don't have any playmakers in
[9:24] Speaker 2: the back end, and then twice kicks get blocked. They
[9:29] Speaker 2: didn't draft a center, another position of need on that
[9:32] Speaker 2: offensive line. They're not very good at center. They've got
[9:35] Speaker 2: you know, Shelton who's been Shelton colebyan I think who's
[9:38] Speaker 2: been around forever, and a kid out of Arkansas. They
[9:41] Speaker 2: drafted six or seventh round and two top three times now.
[9:44] Speaker 2: Against Philadelphia last year, remember in the playoff game and
[9:48] Speaker 2: the Rams are driving and Jalen Carter blows up, the
[9:51] Speaker 2: final play blows up. They're like six seventh round center.
[9:55] Speaker 2: And then twice on field goals, it's a Jordan Davis
[9:59] Speaker 2: blowing up their field goals two block, one for a touchdown.
[10:03] Speaker 2: So they didn't address a lot of what they addressed
[10:06] Speaker 2: in the off season. You know, Devonte Adams has been
[10:09] Speaker 2: a good find. Landaman, the interior linebacker has been a
[10:13] Speaker 2: good get. But they didn't draft a corner and they
[10:17] Speaker 2: are below average at center. And if you play Philadelphia
[10:21] Speaker 2: and you don't have people, and you don't have an
[10:23] Speaker 2: elite corner against a j or DeVante and you can't
[10:28] Speaker 2: block Jalen Carter and Davis, You're in big trouble. And
[10:32] Speaker 2: I just thought, you know, it was a remarkable game.
[10:34] Speaker 2: In the first half, it was a coaching mismatch, like
[10:37] Speaker 2: McVeigh was doing whatever he wanted. But in the end,
[10:40] Speaker 2: I think Philadelphia went in Nick SIRIONI made some adjustments
[10:43] Speaker 2: and they completely dominated the second half. I just think
[10:47] Speaker 2: when they play Philadelphia, the interior of the Eagles defensive
[10:52] Speaker 2: line just continues to dominate the ramp. Remember the fourth
[10:56] Speaker 2: and one call the Rams made and the big guys
[10:59] Speaker 2: blew that add up as well. It's like four separate
[11:02] Speaker 2: plays in two years, and the Eagles are two and
[11:04] Speaker 2: zero in those games because of those moments.
[11:07] Speaker 3: And even Greg Olsen said like, I wouldn't do that
[11:09] Speaker 3: in this spot here, and McVeigh was like, ah, because
[11:12] Speaker 3: I'm with you. The Rams showed up to kick their
[11:15] Speaker 3: ass and they came out of the gates swinging, and
[11:17] Speaker 3: it's at one point in time, I think it's nineteen
[11:19] Speaker 3: to seven and a half, it felt more like thirty
[11:22] Speaker 3: to seven. It did, and you know, the yardage that
[11:26] Speaker 3: was up there was like two hundred to forty yards.
[11:29] Speaker 3: I felt knowing that town a little bit, like, I
[11:32] Speaker 3: think this offensive coordinator is gonna get fired. He's three
[11:35] Speaker 3: games in. Listen, they're the defending champs, but this is
[11:39] Speaker 3: not gonna fly. And give them credit, they came out
[11:42] Speaker 3: and they just started throwing it to eleven. They said,
[11:44] Speaker 3: you know what, and Greg Olsen kept saying it, like,
[11:46] Speaker 3: just target him. Remember in the first game he had
[11:48] Speaker 3: one target. Just throw the ball to eleven, and they
[11:51] Speaker 3: just started doing that. Some of it, it's not like
[11:53] Speaker 3: Jalen is throwing these frozen ropes. Some of them are
[11:56] Speaker 3: kind of floating in the air. AJ's attacking it, He's
[11:58] Speaker 3: throwing the guy off them. It's one of the great
[12:00] Speaker 3: turnarounds of Sirianni's career in a one game situation because.
[12:04] Speaker 2: I thought this thing's weird.
[12:06] Speaker 3: I mean, are they about to get blown out at
[12:08] Speaker 3: home with people booing their offense? And I don't feel
[12:11] Speaker 3: like it's a bad rap because they always boo. Well,
[12:13] Speaker 3: I mean, that's what are they supposed to do?
[12:15] Speaker 2: Cheer John? I mean at halftime, it was one hundred
[12:19] Speaker 2: and fifteen yards rushing for the Rams thirty four for
[12:22] Speaker 2: the Eagles. Rams had basically one hundred yards passing Philadelphia
[12:26] Speaker 2: had minus one. I mean, the game was nineteen to
[12:29] Speaker 2: seven at half, and no question it should have been
[12:32] Speaker 2: like twenty seven to seven or thirty to seven. It
[12:34] Speaker 2: was a complete mismatch. But again, you know.
[12:38] Speaker 3: There never missed a couple passes down the stretch too.
[12:41] Speaker 2: There was also Pooka dropped a touchdown pass in the
[12:45] Speaker 2: end zone. It wasn't an easy catch, but he should
[12:47] Speaker 2: have made it. It was one of these games when
[12:49] Speaker 2: I look at Stafford if he's out of rhythm, and
[12:52] Speaker 2: he missed a couple of passes, both in the red zone,
[12:56] Speaker 2: you don't get anything out of the pocket. And I
[12:59] Speaker 2: felt like he didn't have his best game. I thought
[13:02] Speaker 2: in the second half he just was out of rhythm.
[13:05] Speaker 3: One defining moment that's kind of like a you know,
[13:08] Speaker 3: football in the weeds. But they mentioned on the broadcast
[13:12] Speaker 3: too that Lane Johnson gets hurt, hurts his neck, and
[13:15] Speaker 3: it goes that can't be good, and they put in
[13:17] Speaker 3: the backup and the backup is just getting destroyed. I mean,
[13:20] Speaker 3: they're putting verse over there and they got no shot. Well,
[13:23] Speaker 3: then a couple series they benched that guy and go
[13:25] Speaker 3: to another backup and he's dramatically better and to me,
[13:30] Speaker 3: that's kind of the defining attribute of this organization. They're
[13:33] Speaker 3: pretty ruthless. Like, just because you're the quote unquote back
[13:35] Speaker 3: and you're not getting it done, you'll blast two series
[13:37] Speaker 3: you're out of there throwing another guy. And that helped
[13:39] Speaker 3: change the game because there was a moment where you
[13:41] Speaker 3: went well with Lane Johnson out the physicality of the Rams.
[13:44] Speaker 3: They're front with verse with young with Fisk, like they're
[13:48] Speaker 3: taking over this game. I mean, Jalen was you know,
[13:52] Speaker 3: sometimes he struggles a little bit, it feels like he's
[13:54] Speaker 3: just out of rhythm, but today he was under siege
[13:56] Speaker 3: in that first half getting destroyed. So you know, I
[14:00] Speaker 3: think it shouldn't be that complicated. Like the Rams they
[14:03] Speaker 3: throw it to Puka Nakula all the time. Well, no, shit, Like,
[14:06] Speaker 3: how does it take you so long to throw to
[14:08] Speaker 3: aj Brown? Especially with Saquan you know, the game plan
[14:11] Speaker 3: was this forced Jalen to stay within the pocket where
[14:14] Speaker 3: he's not as comfortable and corral Saquon Barkley. Well, if
[14:19] Speaker 3: one thing Jalen is good at is throwing outside the numbers,
[14:22] Speaker 3: anyone in the league will tell you that. Obviously on
[14:24] Speaker 3: the move, throwing the ball down the field, but even
[14:26] Speaker 3: in the pocket, throwing outside the numbers is something he's
[14:29] Speaker 3: very comfortable doing. And clearly they got two, you know,
[14:32] Speaker 3: elite wide receivers. I mean, they probably have one of,
[14:34] Speaker 3: if not the best one to two combinations in the league.
[14:37] Speaker 3: And it looked like it was broken and then it wasn't.
[14:41] Speaker 3: And then like you said, I mean Jordan Davis and
[14:43] Speaker 3: Jalen Carter. I mean, these guys were blue chipper. Did
[14:46] Speaker 3: you see how fast Jordan Davis I's weight, but on
[14:49] Speaker 3: that field goal block where he could hit at he
[14:52] Speaker 3: was at one point in time, it was taking like
[14:56] Speaker 3: two steps to cover five yards. I'm like, I don't
[14:58] Speaker 3: think people realize even though he no longer a wets
[15:00] Speaker 3: three fifty and maybe weigst three twenty five, the movement
[15:03] Speaker 3: on this human being and he's not even their star
[15:06] Speaker 3: defensive tackle. That's Jalen Carter. So that was that was
[15:10] Speaker 3: a blue chip game all the way around. Like I
[15:12] Speaker 3: don't view the Rams that much differently, like I think,
[15:15] Speaker 3: like watching the Niners, like I would say today the
[15:17] Speaker 3: Rams are a better team currently than the forty nine ers.
[15:20] Speaker 3: But listen, I mean, at the end of the day,
[15:21] Speaker 3: you got to find a way to win a game
[15:23] Speaker 3: that you are controlling on the road. Well, the Deeps
[15:26] Speaker 3: did not have life. They had no life.
[15:28] Speaker 2: The Eagles have a star in every unit, the rams
[15:31] Speaker 2: at corner they really need work.
[15:34] Speaker 3: But Colin most teams don't have, you know, Deon Sanders,
[15:37] Speaker 3: Dureux reevas out there. So especially once AJ gets going,
[15:41] Speaker 3: you would think you would cheat a little bit and
[15:43] Speaker 3: give him some help. I mean they left him on
[15:45] Speaker 3: an island and Aj was just throwing whoever was on
[15:48] Speaker 3: him one on one just over his shoulder. That just
[15:51] Speaker 3: you know, working another five, ten twenty yards down the field.
[15:54] Speaker 2: It's amazing what happens in these games. This puka drops
[15:58] Speaker 2: a touchdown in the fourth quarter than they they want
[16:00] Speaker 2: to take a field goal to go up twenty nine
[16:03] Speaker 2: to twenty one, and it gets blocked and it's like,
[16:06] Speaker 2: oh shit, and then Hurtz hits Devonte Smith twenty eight
[16:10] Speaker 2: twenty six. They lead, but that touchdown when it's dropped,
[16:15] Speaker 2: then the field goal is blocked and you're like, there's
[16:18] Speaker 2: just two plays. And that's what the Eagles do. They
[16:22] Speaker 2: just got a hand on the puka on the on
[16:25] Speaker 2: the puka drop just enough body on it and then
[16:28] Speaker 2: they block the kick, and so when you have these moments.
[16:31] Speaker 2: Dallas had these a couple of weeks ago when they
[16:33] Speaker 2: played Philadelphia. You have these moments, and when you play
[16:36] Speaker 2: Philadelphia and you have these moments, you have to make
[16:40] Speaker 2: the plays. Because they've shown they're an uneven football team.
[16:44] Speaker 2: They have really bad halves. It's not that rare for
[16:47] Speaker 2: Jalen Hurts to have a really bad half. He had
[16:50] Speaker 2: a bad half against the Rams in the playoff game.
[16:52] Speaker 2: Like he has. This team is uneven, but when their
[16:56] Speaker 2: horsepower revs up and they get momentum, I mean, Saquan's
[17:00] Speaker 2: not even running. He hasn't been nearly as effective. But
[17:02] Speaker 2: when they get going and they get that pass rush,
[17:05] Speaker 2: and over the course of a game, their defensive front
[17:09] Speaker 2: wears you out. And I felt like at the end
[17:11] Speaker 2: of the game, the Rams had all these card tricks
[17:14] Speaker 2: and then that just came down to personnel, and the
[17:16] Speaker 2: Eagles had better personnel.
[17:18] Speaker 3: I also think when you have, you know, a guy
[17:22] Speaker 3: like Saquon Barkley that terrifies these defensive coordinators that at
[17:25] Speaker 3: any moment can go fifty if you screw up a lane.
[17:29] Speaker 3: They spend so much effort trying to corral him. Well,
[17:32] Speaker 3: they got Jalen Hurts, who at any moment they can
[17:34] Speaker 3: just do that kind of keeper play and then he
[17:37] Speaker 3: can go. And you saw with Kyler Murray when you
[17:39] Speaker 3: have a guy, those guys want to throw it, like
[17:41] Speaker 3: Jalen no longer wants to run it, but at any
[17:43] Speaker 3: moment when he has to, he can gets you seven yards.
[17:46] Speaker 3: So like you said, yeah, he could be terrible, but
[17:48] Speaker 3: at any moment he could just gain them a momentum
[17:51] Speaker 3: play with his own legs because you spend all your
[17:54] Speaker 3: effort going on Saquon, Like I don't think Saquan's numbers
[17:57] Speaker 3: so far through the beginning of the year look great.
[17:59] Speaker 3: Can you imagine the emphasis Monday through Saturday that the
[18:02] Speaker 3: defensive coordinators are screaming at the units to stop him.
[18:06] Speaker 3: So and that's where Jalen and they always have that
[18:08] Speaker 3: in their back pocket and they've used it a couple
[18:10] Speaker 3: times in the second half. Just let him get to
[18:12] Speaker 3: the edges. Because even when you walk, like when you
[18:14] Speaker 3: watch Kyler, he looks like a wide receiver or something
[18:17] Speaker 3: with the bond in his hands. Sometimes Jalen when he's
[18:19] Speaker 3: running doesn't even look that fast, but he's just a
[18:21] Speaker 3: smooth runner, and he's very natural in space. He had
[18:24] Speaker 3: one run today for like eight nine yards in the
[18:27] Speaker 3: second half. That is just something they can kind of
[18:29] Speaker 3: keep in their back pocket. And let's face it, they
[18:31] Speaker 3: play in a lot of close games because their offense
[18:34] Speaker 3: has kind of been an eMac this year.

[20:07] Speaker 2: All Right, Danny Parkins, former Chicago radio legend now at
[20:11] Speaker 2: FS one, is joining us. We bring in Danny about
[20:14] Speaker 2: once every five or six weeks. He's a busy guy,
[20:18] Speaker 2: you know. I was thinking about this. Somebody the other
[20:19] Speaker 2: day asked me. They said, you know, Colin, you don't
[20:21] Speaker 2: do politics, and I said, well, I also don't post
[20:24] Speaker 2: my meals on Twitter. There's a lot of things I
[20:27] Speaker 2: do that I don't do publicly. I don't want to
[20:30] Speaker 2: hear Bill Maher's football picks or Ben Shapiro talk the
[20:34] Speaker 2: college football playoff. I said, you know, me and my
[20:37] Speaker 2: brand is like football in sports, and that's what it is.
[20:40] Speaker 2: And I don't want to dilute it at all. Stephen A.
[20:42] Speaker 2: Smith loves it. Knock yourself out. I don't want to
[20:45] Speaker 2: work that hard. But it was interesting because one of
[20:48] Speaker 2: the only times I've thought, ooh, should I have an opinion,
[20:51] Speaker 2: but I didn't because I was busy in doing stuff
[20:54] Speaker 2: and didn't care, was the Jimmy Kimel situation, where listen,
[20:57] Speaker 2: I just don't think it's I think it's a bad precedent.
[20:59] Speaker 2: I don't care what somebody says, how offended you are.
[21:01] Speaker 2: Don't take comedians off the air. Don't. And by the way,
[21:05] Speaker 2: the left was doing it with comedians years ago. They
[21:09] Speaker 2: were getting called out for jokes, and now the right's
[21:12] Speaker 2: upset with Kimmel. But one of the things I thought
[21:15] Speaker 2: about was that in the end, Bob Iger, who I
[21:21] Speaker 2: know a little bit, Disney is huge globally. It is
[21:25] Speaker 2: massive in southern California, and Bob's going to retire. I
[21:29] Speaker 2: know where Hey lives in California. He loves it. And
[21:32] Speaker 2: my take was, he's surrounded he Disney is a company
[21:35] Speaker 2: full of artists. I mean, it really is. That's what
[21:39] Speaker 2: it is. The theme parks used to drive it. I'm
[21:41] Speaker 2: not sure the percentage of revenue, but you know, so
[21:43] Speaker 2: much of Disney now is movies and Hulu and all
[21:47] Speaker 2: this stuff. And my takeaway was, in the end, I
[21:52] Speaker 2: thought Bob Iger probably sat down and went and I
[21:54] Speaker 2: think Gavin knew some things. This way, this is my state.
[21:58] Speaker 2: I literally have the support of half the state, many
[22:01] Speaker 2: of which are artists, creatives. Screw next our it's local levy.
[22:07] Speaker 2: I mean, it's like ninth on our wrung. And I
[22:10] Speaker 2: really wondered. I thought, like, if you're Gavin Newsom and
[22:13] Speaker 2: you're Bob Iger, and basically your support in the state
[22:15] Speaker 2: is overwhelmingly these creative industries, and you're like, well, Kimmel's
[22:19] Speaker 2: in a creative space. I don't care if the President
[22:21] Speaker 2: hates me. I wonder that was my take on it,
[22:24] Speaker 2: that everything in my life, every big decision comes down
[22:27] Speaker 2: to sex, power and money, nobody else. But you know
[22:31] Speaker 2: what I mean, Seriously, when when you're talking about big corporations,
[22:33] Speaker 2: it's I mean, it could be the White House, it
[22:36] Speaker 2: could be Main Street, it could be any Wall Street,
[22:39] Speaker 2: and that why do you think And if you don't
[22:42] Speaker 2: like this question, you can talk bears, but why do
[22:44] Speaker 2: you just saying no, you're just gonna put them back on?
[22:49] Speaker 2: You know, you said a lot there.
[22:50] Speaker 1: And I've got a lot of thoughts on this obviously,
[22:52] Speaker 1: so I can go aslong on this as you want to.
[22:55] Speaker 2: But this, this is the right thing to do. This.
[22:58] Speaker 1: This was a pretty clear cut freedom of speech issue,
[23:04] Speaker 1: and everyone from Ted Cruz and Ben Shapiro and George
[23:11] Speaker 1: Clooney and Meryl Streep and Joe Rogan everybody came out
[23:15] Speaker 1: against this like this was a fairly cut and dried easy.
[23:21] Speaker 2: It was an easy one. And so I think that, yeah,
[23:26] Speaker 2: it was an easy one.
[23:27] Speaker 1: When you see that reaction to it, I don't know
[23:30] Speaker 1: how much credit I'm supposed to give you for like
[23:32] Speaker 1: ultimately doing the right thing because it was so universe,
[23:35] Speaker 1: it was so easy, So I don't think about that. Also, though,
[23:39] Speaker 1: to your point about Hollywood and like being comfortable where
[23:42] Speaker 1: you live, Kimmel is so popular in southern California among
[23:49] Speaker 1: the Hollywood elite, right, Like his green room when he
[23:54] Speaker 1: first started doing a show twenty years ago, was like
[23:57] Speaker 1: the Hollywood hangout. People call him, you know, the mayor
[24:00] Speaker 1: of Hollywood. He is as likely to hang out with
[24:04] Speaker 1: Magic Johnson as he is Jennifer Aniston. And then he
[24:08] Speaker 1: when he started, he dipped his toe into the water
[24:10] Speaker 1: with politics because of healthcare, because of what happened with
[24:13] Speaker 1: his young child, and you know, like that was his
[24:17] Speaker 1: He was not a John Stuart, John Oliver. Jimmy Kimmel
[24:23] Speaker 1: is the Man show, like Jimmy Kimmel's local radio. Jimmy
[24:26] Speaker 1: Kimmel is a prankster. Jimmy Kimmel was like likability guys, guy,
[24:31] Speaker 1: pull pranks, football picks and all that sort of thing.
[24:34] Speaker 2: He started dipping his toe in politics through healthcare.
[24:38] Speaker 1: And then I think he got it infatuated with it,
[24:41] Speaker 1: and the left started reaching out to him and he
[24:43] Speaker 1: started doing events and he, you know, speaking at Obama
[24:47] Speaker 1: functions and things like that.
[24:48] Speaker 2: But like Jimmy Kimmel in Hollywood.
[24:52] Speaker 1: As I understand it has pretty like universal approval. His approval,
[24:59] Speaker 1: his approval. Everyone wants to hang with Jimmy Kimmel.
[25:03] Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I mean because if you think about it,
[25:06] Speaker 2: Letterman always sort of poked Hollywood in the ribs. Madonna
[25:10] Speaker 2: share right, Ricky Gervais doesn't give a fly, and you
[25:15] Speaker 2: know what about Hollywood, He mocks them in front of them.
[25:19] Speaker 2: Cobert is the political guy, Fallon sort of a New
[25:22] Speaker 2: York music vibe. Carson was Debonair, Leno had the monologue.
[25:28] Speaker 2: Conan was quirky, and I always New York or you're
[25:33] Speaker 2: a late night host, you need it.
[25:35] Speaker 1: He was the mayor of Hollywood. He vacations with Jason
[25:40] Speaker 1: and Jennifer. You know, he that was his thing.
[25:43] Speaker 2: He created a vibe, and he created a hangout spot.
[25:47] Speaker 1: And so you know, I I thought that when the
[25:51] Speaker 1: four hundred actors and artists saw like signed that petition,
[25:55] Speaker 1: I thought that was like an obvious step that was
[25:57] Speaker 1: clearly coming. But I thought that if Disney and them,
[26:02] Speaker 1: if everyone like didn't kind of back down on this one,
[26:05] Speaker 1: I think that Kimmel was popular enough that it might
[26:08] Speaker 1: have gone further because you saw a few people like writers.
[26:11] Speaker 1: I think like a writer from Loss or something was like,
[26:13] Speaker 1: I'm not going to work for them again until they
[26:16] Speaker 1: do what's rank here.
[26:18] Speaker 2: Yeah, well, that's where I feel Eiger feels that institutional pressure.
[26:23] Speaker 2: I mean a great example is for a brief time
[26:25] Speaker 2: in LA I moved to Brentwood, which is it's a
[26:29] Speaker 2: very much an industry town like Manhattan Beach is USC
[26:33] Speaker 2: grads playing volleyball, work hard, party hard right. Beverly Hills
[26:38] Speaker 2: is very international. I mean, West Hollywood is very much industry.
[26:44] Speaker 2: Brentwood is where the industry, the CEOs, the agents live
[26:47] Speaker 2: and so I moved there in a very beautiful area.
[26:51] Speaker 2: But my neighbors, one of my neighbors, like Lindsay Buckingham,
[26:54] Speaker 2: It was a lot of industry people you occasionally see,
[26:58] Speaker 2: you know, more Dustin Hoffman. I never saw him, but
[27:01] Speaker 2: apparently he had a house. You know, there's a game
[27:04] Speaker 2: show host down the street. That's what I didn't move
[27:06] Speaker 2: there for it. I moved it because in my when
[27:08] Speaker 2: I started the volume, a lot of people in the
[27:10] Speaker 2: company were in that area and I didn't want to
[27:12] Speaker 2: keep driving back and forth and driving back and forth.
[27:15] Speaker 2: And it's fine. But there was a restaurant there called Toscano,
[27:19] Speaker 2: and it was I went there all the time. They
[27:21] Speaker 2: had a great bar that you could just watch sports
[27:23] Speaker 2: really low key. Every time you walked in. It was
[27:26] Speaker 2: industry people and Iiger I went there probably thirty times.
[27:28] Speaker 2: He was there, six to seven of them Kardashians were there.
[27:31] Speaker 2: I mean, it was all these Hollywood people and like
[27:34] Speaker 2: industry people. And the truth is Bob was could not
[27:38] Speaker 2: get in and out of that restaurant. And he would
[27:40] Speaker 2: dress very casually, never a suit. I mean, it looked
[27:42] Speaker 2: like he just got done biking. He was legendarily beloved
[27:47] Speaker 2: and left the company, came back, and I do think
[27:50] Speaker 2: there is this point where you look at it and
[27:51] Speaker 2: you think time out. One of my affiliates, who are
[27:55] Speaker 2: my alliances with they're they're not, they're not. I mean,
[27:58] Speaker 2: and so when you see all the like Silicon Valley
[28:01] Speaker 2: guys go and into the White House, that's different. Those
[28:05] Speaker 2: those are massive global companies. You don't know where those
[28:09] Speaker 2: people are going to live. They probably got eight holes.
[28:12] Speaker 2: Iger always felt like an l a guy. I mean,
[28:14] Speaker 2: it's it's I thought he made an offer on one
[28:18] Speaker 2: of the sports team his family did he feels like,
[28:20] Speaker 2: I mean, so I just I guess my point being
[28:23] Speaker 2: is that like if I was Bob Iger and I
[28:27] Speaker 2: don't ye, I.
[28:27] Speaker 1: Wouldn't think your point you had to do that, that
[28:32] Speaker 1: is your shairman. I mean the stuff that he said
[28:34] Speaker 1: was just like I mean, i'mluckily stupid, and so yeah,
[28:39] Speaker 1: I thought it was like a pretty open and shut
[28:42] Speaker 1: case because and you also said earlier you like the.
[28:44] Speaker 2: Left was doing it with jokes and going too.
[28:46] Speaker 1: Far, Like I don't I don't want to like false
[28:48] Speaker 1: equivalent those because like there's no question that sensitivities and
[28:57] Speaker 1: people like lashing out it media had a little too
[29:01] Speaker 1: extreme and people got a little too sensitive, and you
[29:04] Speaker 1: could like talk about cancel culture or whatever. But like
[29:07] Speaker 1: losing out on hosting the Oscars because you wouldn't apologize
[29:11] Speaker 1: for jokes is not like losing a gig is not
[29:15] Speaker 1: the same, Like because like an event wouldn't book you.
[29:19] Speaker 1: That's not the same as the head of the FCC
[29:22] Speaker 1: taking you off the air and the president like celebrating
[29:25] Speaker 1: your firing, right, Like that's that's not the same. That's
[29:27] Speaker 1: government overreach, and so I thought this one was just
[29:31] Speaker 1: like appalling to everybody, you know, like this was this
[29:35] Speaker 1: is like what happened to Howard Stern back in the nineties,
[29:38] Speaker 1: like this this was just like so they're just like, wait,
[29:41] Speaker 1: they're gonna do what over what comment?
[29:43] Speaker 2: And like who's getting involved?
[29:45] Speaker 1: Like and I thought Kimbo what he said in his
[29:47] Speaker 1: monologue was hilarious and spot on, like he had great
[29:51] Speaker 1: ratings like talk about your all time backfire if you ever.
[29:55] Speaker 2: Had an especially strident position, and for a variety of reason,
[30:00] Speaker 2: perhaps in my opinion, it's a cultural change. You go
[30:03] Speaker 2: the opposite way, and I'm going to start with mine.
[30:06] Speaker 2: And I thought about this so for years I always
[30:10] Speaker 2: said Green Bay not having an owner was a negative,
[30:14] Speaker 2: that you need Stan Kronky on the tarmac with Sean
[30:17] Speaker 2: McVay on the phone and he's getting ready to fly
[30:20] Speaker 2: his Gulfstream from lax to Heathrow and literally McVeigh and
[30:26] Speaker 2: less need pin him down on Stafford and he goes, okay,
[30:31] Speaker 2: let's get him. You don't have to go through a board,
[30:35] Speaker 2: you don't have to gather people around like in Green Bay.
[30:39] Speaker 2: And you know, Mark Murphy had to answer to people,
[30:41] Speaker 2: and so for years I always thought, what a negative
[30:45] Speaker 2: for Green Bay. They don't they can't walk upstairs. I've
[30:47] Speaker 2: always said one of the strengths of Fox over ESPN.
[30:51] Speaker 2: ESPN's a massive company. It's like the Marriott chain.
[30:54] Speaker 1: You know.
[30:54] Speaker 2: Fox is like a boute hotel. If I really needed something,
[30:58] Speaker 2: I would walk upstairs. And I've done it maybe once
[31:00] Speaker 2: and just ask Eric Shanks, Eric, this sucks, you know,
[31:04] Speaker 2: can we do this? Or Eric, I'm not comfortable with this,
[31:08] Speaker 2: what do you think of it? And if he's there,
[31:10] Speaker 2: he would just say, oh, that's a good point. Let
[31:11] Speaker 2: me get it on the phone. And I don't do
[31:13] Speaker 2: it much. I've probably done it twice, or I've said, hey,
[31:15] Speaker 2: can we do this? This is one of them. Was like, well,
[31:19] Speaker 2: I won't even get into it. It was kind of a
[31:20] Speaker 2: thing for the staff. I wanted to do. But you
[31:22] Speaker 2: can get an answer and get it solved very quickly.
[31:24] Speaker 2: And I don't have a lot of you know, I
[31:25] Speaker 2: don't have to do it much. I think I've done
[31:27] Speaker 2: it twice in nine years. It was just something I'm like, God,
[31:29] Speaker 2: this feels weird. Let's not do this. You get an answer.
[31:33] Speaker 2: Packer's never had that. Then something happened and I really
[31:36] Speaker 2: noticed it over the last two to three years, and
[31:39] Speaker 2: I've talked to GMS about this, is that owners have
[31:43] Speaker 2: gotten more impulsive because they're not worth seven hundred million.
[31:48] Speaker 2: They're worth eleven billion, and so they have no problem
[31:51] Speaker 2: running a sixty eight million dollar check to get rid
[31:54] Speaker 2: of both coordinators and they head coach. They don't care.
[31:57] Speaker 2: And when they're around their buddies who are millionaire probably
[32:01] Speaker 2: not billionaires, they're giving them shit when they vacation with them,
[32:06] Speaker 2: like your coach is an idiot, This quarterback's abum. And
[32:09] Speaker 2: you know they it's a bit of a billionaire echo
[32:12] Speaker 2: chamber and they and they lean on the GM and
[32:14] Speaker 2: they lean on people and they just are crazier. And
[32:20] Speaker 2: so Green Bay, now I believe has a huge advantage
[32:24] Speaker 2: where they don't answer to any impulsive owner. They basically
[32:27] Speaker 2: have really smart president, really smart people in the front office.
[32:31] Speaker 2: They tend to be patient with quarterbacks. I do not
[32:34] Speaker 2: believe you can draft a first round quarterback and sit
[32:36] Speaker 2: him for three years twice. You can't do that in
[32:40] Speaker 2: any other city except Green Bay. The masters of the
[32:44] Speaker 2: most important position in the National Football League increasingly so
[32:47] Speaker 2: over the last fifteen years. So that's my sports take
[32:50] Speaker 2: where it's like there and I have pivoted to the
[32:53] Speaker 2: other side, and I think Green Bay's ability to have
[32:57] Speaker 2: multiple year patients is unpressed in this sport.
[33:03] Speaker 1: So the green Bay thing is a little sensitive for
[33:05] Speaker 1: me because my dad's whole side of the family are
[33:08] Speaker 1: cheesehead Packer fans, and I've had to deal with this
[33:12] Speaker 1: for my entire life.
[33:15] Speaker 2: And I always would say.
[33:18] Speaker 1: You know, to my brother, my older brother is a
[33:20] Speaker 1: Packer fan and my dad and you know, rest in
[33:22] Speaker 1: peace to both of them. But I would always say,
[33:24] Speaker 1: I was like, you guys don't know how the rest
[33:26] Speaker 1: of us live. Like you guys get going from Farv
[33:31] Speaker 1: to Rogers to Jordan Love, Like I remember when Rogers
[33:34] Speaker 1: got hurt and Brett Hunley had to play for like
[33:37] Speaker 1: six games.
[33:37] Speaker 2: They're like, oh, it's like six games. Try sixteen years try.
[33:43] Speaker 3: In the eighties, yeah, yeah, yeah.
[33:46] Speaker 1: The game that Caleb Williams had against Dallas, a Bears
[33:49] Speaker 1: quarterback has not done that four touchdowns, zero picks, zero
[33:53] Speaker 1: stacks since Rex Grossman in two thousand and six, and
[33:57] Speaker 1: before that it was Eric Kramer in nineteen ninety five,
[34:01] Speaker 1: and then before Eric Kramer, it was zero times, like
[34:04] Speaker 1: the entirety of the list, and so like the fact
[34:08] Speaker 1: that like so and so, Packerstans don't understand how good
[34:13] Speaker 1: they have it. But allow me to just push back
[34:16] Speaker 1: a little bit.
[34:18] Speaker 2: Isn't it luck is?
[34:21] Speaker 1: It isn't?
[34:21] Speaker 2: I mean?
[34:22] Speaker 1: Because our sample size there is two, right, Aaron Rodgers
[34:26] Speaker 1: and Jordan Love. And because FARV was like FARV was good,
[34:30] Speaker 1: they had FARV. They traded for FARV and then Aaron
[34:35] Speaker 1: Rodgers falls in the draft, not supposed to be there.
[34:40] Speaker 1: They take him, they sit him, but he was you know,
[34:43] Speaker 1: number one, It was.
[34:44] Speaker 2: Him and Alex Smith.
[34:45] Speaker 1: Then that works, and then Rogers they think he's done,
[34:49] Speaker 1: they trade up and take Jordan Love. Then they get
[34:52] Speaker 1: rid of McCarthy. Lafleur comes in. All of a sudden,
[34:55] Speaker 1: Rogers is winning two more MVPs. Like the plan wasn't like,
[35:00] Speaker 1: let's sit Jordan Love for three years. The plan was,
[35:03] Speaker 1: we don't know how much longer Aaron Rodgers has and
[35:06] Speaker 1: then a new coach kind of injected some old man
[35:09] Speaker 1: life into him, and Jordan Love was sitting longer than
[35:12] Speaker 1: they initially thought when they drafted me. If they thought
[35:15] Speaker 1: that Aaron Rodgers was going to be an m VP,
[35:17] Speaker 1: they would have drafted T Higgins instead of drafting Jordan Love.
[35:22] Speaker 1: So like it's and by the way, it was multiple presidents,
[35:27] Speaker 1: you know what I mean back then with it was
[35:29] Speaker 1: Ron wolf Right, It's been multiple j Thompson and Ted thompsonyeh,
[35:34] Speaker 1: multiple presidents, multiple general general managers. I don't. I don't
[35:38] Speaker 1: just believe that, like inherently because they eat brought worst
[35:41] Speaker 1: and they have no owner and it's green and gold
[35:44] Speaker 1: that they have just like that, they just have this
[35:47] Speaker 1: ability that like if if Mark Murphy went and it's
[35:52] Speaker 1: a new president, now I forget the guy's name, but
[35:55] Speaker 1: if he became the president of the Jaguars, I don't
[35:59] Speaker 1: think that the next Jaguars quarterback would be Aaron Rodgers
[36:03] Speaker 1: level good.
[36:03] Speaker 2: Like I think they have gotten I think they've gotten
[36:06] Speaker 2: lucky twice and it can noise the hell out of me.
[36:09] Speaker 2: So here's where I'd pushed back. They are also arguably
[36:13] Speaker 2: the best drafting team period for twenty five years, and
[36:17] Speaker 2: I think I mean they literally have maybe in twenty
[36:21] Speaker 2: five years, had two bad offensive lines and they never
[36:25] Speaker 2: draft offensive lineman in the first round. Is that once
[36:27] Speaker 2: again their ability to draft middle rounds and just be
[36:32] Speaker 2: patient and not have a relentless angry media banging on them.
[36:36] Speaker 2: Their media is not even collegiate, it's almost high school nice.
[36:41] Speaker 2: I mean, it's a very supportive media. And so I
[36:44] Speaker 2: would buy into Luck if they didn't currently have the
[36:48] Speaker 2: best tight end wide receiver youth groups in the NFL.
[36:53] Speaker 2: And they don't do free agency, so they're missing a
[36:57] Speaker 2: leg from the barstool. And it's almost like there's so
[37:00] Speaker 2: many teachers that are actually millionaires, almost higher than almost
[37:03] Speaker 2: any profession outside of tech. And one of the reasons
[37:05] Speaker 2: they have to be is because teachers don't make a lot,
[37:07] Speaker 2: so they tend to pay off their homes, they buy
[37:09] Speaker 2: use cars. Green Bay similarly knows we don't get free agents.
[37:14] Speaker 2: We have to draft and development, we have to be patient.
[37:17] Speaker 2: We're not attractive to star mike linebackers and wide receivers
[37:22] Speaker 2: on average, So I think I would buy that. But
[37:25] Speaker 2: they draft so exceedingly well, and I think a lot
[37:28] Speaker 2: of it is you do in life what you have to.
[37:31] Speaker 2: If you have to save to retire early, you don't
[37:34] Speaker 2: buy a second car if you're rich. I mean, the
[37:37] Speaker 2: New York operations, they just fly through money because their
[37:40] Speaker 2: game day revenue is huge. And I mean I think,
[37:43] Speaker 2: I mean, like the Knicks, James Dolan, I'm firing the
[37:47] Speaker 2: most successful coach we've had in twenty years. You wouldn't
[37:50] Speaker 2: think of doing that in Green Bay, Like, it wouldn't
[37:52] Speaker 2: even be on the table, would it.
[37:55] Speaker 1: I mean, they fired Mike McCarthy after he won a
[37:58] Speaker 1: Super Bowl, right after he won it.
[38:01] Speaker 2: Obviously he struggled the last year and a half, two
[38:03] Speaker 2: years he struggled. Yeah, but but Mike.
[38:06] Speaker 1: Tomlins hasn't won a playoff game since twenty sixteen, and
[38:10] Speaker 1: they've they've kept him there because, like the Steelers ownership group,
[38:14] Speaker 1: believes in continuity of coaches.
[38:17] Speaker 2: So listen, the Packers are a very well run organization.
[38:22] Speaker 1: So there's obviously an ounce of hater that is coming
[38:25] Speaker 1: out of me when we're talking about this, and Ry
[38:28] Speaker 1: Coast is very good.
[38:29] Speaker 2: It's just an ounce, just a smidge, feels like sixteen ounces.
[38:33] Speaker 2: It might be forty proof, it might be forty proof.
[38:36] Speaker 2: Can you pass me some of that whiskey?
[38:38] Speaker 1: By the way it looks at the delatio Ad policy,
[38:40] Speaker 1: by the name, is the new the new Mark Murphy,
[38:43] Speaker 1: the new Ted Thompson. I just I have a I
[38:47] Speaker 1: think that they are very well run, They are very
[38:48] Speaker 1: good at drafting. The Historically, you are one hundred percent correct,
[38:53] Speaker 1: have not been a free agent team. But it's also
[38:56] Speaker 1: not because part of it is because they don't they're
[39:00] Speaker 1: not attractive to free agents. But in the NFL, guys
[39:06] Speaker 1: normally go where the money is normally right, Reggie Reggie
[39:11] Speaker 1: White going to Green Bay was like a massive deal
[39:13] Speaker 1: on a number of levels because of race and religion
[39:17] Speaker 1: and location and all that. They also paid them a
[39:19] Speaker 1: boatload of money. I remember when Mario Williams went to Buffalo.
[39:23] Speaker 1: Everyone was like, yeah, remember, oh my god, Buffalo got
[39:27] Speaker 1: a big free agent, and I was like, you got
[39:29] Speaker 1: one hundred million dollars anywhere, so green But Green Bay
[39:34] Speaker 1: has also talked about like a lot of like they
[39:36] Speaker 1: believe philosophically organizationally in building through the drafty.
[39:42] Speaker 2: They don't even really pursue big time free agents.
[39:45] Speaker 1: Like part of it, I'm sure is a geographic disadvantage,
[39:49] Speaker 1: but I think part of it is also just like
[39:50] Speaker 1: organizational philosophy. And they're very good and I think Jordan
[39:55] Speaker 1: Love is just good enough to throw a back breaking
[39:58] Speaker 1: interception in the playoffs.
[40:00] Speaker 2: Collar that's what I think. Wait, let's wrap it up
[40:03] Speaker 2: with your pivot a position you had and now, through
[40:09] Speaker 2: either cultural changes, information clarity, you have moved off it
[40:14] Speaker 2: any sport anything. Okay, Yeah, good question, good follow up.
[40:17] Speaker 2: You're gonna hold me to it. So I this. Maybe
[40:20] Speaker 2: this doesn't answer your question perfectly, but I think it's
[40:22] Speaker 2: a decent answer. I used to.
[40:28] Speaker 1: Want to fire coaches for bad game management decisions, messing
[40:36] Speaker 1: up timeouts, messing up you and Nick right, messing up
[40:42] Speaker 1: go for it on fourth downs. It would drive me insane.
[40:46] Speaker 1: And I still don't like it, to be very very clear,
[40:49] Speaker 1: And I do think teams in general have gotten better
[40:52] Speaker 1: at it because they've brought you know, MIT nerds and
[40:55] Speaker 1: analytic departments in and like they've like streamlined their process.
[40:59] Speaker 1: But like I'm talking, like by the way, like I
[41:01] Speaker 1: can go back, like Mike McCarthy on the Packers when
[41:05] Speaker 1: they were in the NFC Championship game against Seattle in
[41:07] Speaker 1: like me ten or whatever. He's got Aaron Rodgers, Aaron
[41:11] Speaker 1: Rodgers's MVP of the league, and he's given the ball
[41:14] Speaker 1: to Eddie Lacy inside the five yard line instead of
[41:17] Speaker 1: letting Aaron Rodgers try to throw and then he's settling
[41:19] Speaker 1: for short field goals. It was this is like before
[41:23] Speaker 1: the analytic, but even up the time you have Aaron Rodgers,
[41:26] Speaker 1: six is more than three go for touchdowns?
[41:28] Speaker 2: What are you doing?
[41:30] Speaker 1: I used to want to like fire guys for that,
[41:33] Speaker 1: but then and like Andy Reid, it was a big
[41:36] Speaker 1: reason why I changed this. Like Andy Reid has struggled
[41:40] Speaker 1: at times. And remember I covered Andy Reid and the
[41:43] Speaker 1: Alex Smith era when he was coming off of the
[41:45] Speaker 1: Philadelphia era. I did not cover Andy Reid when he
[41:48] Speaker 1: had Superman as his quarterback. But Andy Reid would sometimes
[41:52] Speaker 1: do things be slow at the end of half, slept
[41:56] Speaker 1: the clock run punt from midfield, and I was like,
[42:01] Speaker 1: this is so dumb, but goddamn, that guy would win,
[42:07] Speaker 1: and he would win double digit games, and he would
[42:09] Speaker 1: get Alex Smith had the best year of his career
[42:12] Speaker 1: with him. And then you go back through and you
[42:13] Speaker 1: look at it and he was like, Okay, not only
[42:15] Speaker 1: did Alex Smith have the best year of his career
[42:17] Speaker 1: with Andy Reid, but so did Kevin Cobb, Jeff Garcia, Mike.
[42:20] Speaker 2: Vick, Donovan mcnapp like yep. So the epiphany was like.
[42:26] Speaker 1: It's the part that drives guys like me and Nick
[42:30] Speaker 1: crazy because we are sitting on our couch watching an
[42:34] Speaker 1: HD with the clock and the time and the score,
[42:38] Speaker 1: and we can do that part. But the biggest part
[42:41] Speaker 1: of coaching is very clearly not that. The biggest part
[42:45] Speaker 1: of coaching is Monday through Saturday. The game plan that
[42:49] Speaker 1: how you game plan for the Broncos is different than
[42:54] Speaker 1: how you game plan for the Lions, and it's like
[42:57] Speaker 1: a week to week chess and that's what Andy Reid
[42:59] Speaker 1: is the best I've ever seen in my lifetime of
[43:03] Speaker 1: watching football, and so like that, it is a part
[43:08] Speaker 1: of coaching that still drives me crazy, and I will
[43:10] Speaker 1: still yell at my TV about it, but I will
[43:14] Speaker 1: unless you have like, no, like, I will never advocate
[43:18] Speaker 1: firing a good coach for something like that. You know,
[43:21] Speaker 1: like if Brian Callahan can't do it and he can't
[43:23] Speaker 1: coach well, then sure, just like add it to the
[43:25] Speaker 1: list of reasons right why he should be gone. But
[43:28] Speaker 1: it's not like the it's not as big of a
[43:30] Speaker 1: part of being a good coach as I originally thought
[43:34] Speaker 1: it was, because I think I gained like a more
[43:36] Speaker 1: global understanding of like what the job entails. I don't
[43:40] Speaker 1: know that I fully adequately answer your question, but it
[43:44] Speaker 1: is a position that I totally have changed on and
[43:48] Speaker 1: it's now more of like a nuisance than like a
[43:50] Speaker 1: foundational principle. But I also think as I go around here,
[43:54] Speaker 1: I also think teams have gotten way better at it.
[43:57] Speaker 1: Like Dan Campbell is at the forefront of it, but
[44:00] Speaker 1: like teams now all employee game theory people.
[44:05] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[44:06] Speaker 3: No, And.
[44:08] Speaker 2: I've talked to a lot of I probably say my
[44:11] Speaker 2: best sources in sports are NFL GMS, x GM's current
[44:19] Speaker 2: GMS guys that want to be gms. And they've always
[44:22] Speaker 2: said that a coach is a CEO. If you get
[44:26] Speaker 2: the schemes along with it, it's a total bonus. But
[44:30] Speaker 2: they've got to be a part psychologist. Bill Parcells was
[44:33] Speaker 2: brilliant at that. They've got to be an understanding of personnel.
[44:36] Speaker 2: Jimmy Johnson was a master of that. They have to
[44:39] Speaker 2: be play designers. Sean Payton, Andy Reid Shanahan masters of that.
[44:46] Speaker 2: And that clock management is often you have a sense
[44:51] Speaker 2: that that's what you do during the week. You do
[44:53] Speaker 2: all these two minute drills and red zone drills, and
[44:56] Speaker 2: then you let the game develop and Phil Jackson used
[44:59] Speaker 2: to never call the first time out. I covered that
[45:02] Speaker 2: Blazer Laker series with the iconic Shack dunk. The Blazers
[45:05] Speaker 2: took ten point leads multiple times. Phil wanted his team
[45:10] Speaker 2: to figure out dilemmas. His theory was, I'm not going
[45:14] Speaker 2: to wit. I'm not calling the first time out. I
[45:16] Speaker 2: want you to figure it out because when that happens
[45:19] Speaker 2: again later in a game, we have a dynamic. We
[45:22] Speaker 2: have been through this, and so Phil was like, I
[45:24] Speaker 2: don't It's like being a parent. I'm not going to
[45:27] Speaker 2: solve all your issues. You need to solve some of
[45:30] Speaker 2: your issues. So a lot of this stuff, especially early
[45:33] Speaker 2: in the season, I want to see if cam Ward
[45:36] Speaker 2: can handle the clock. We're not going to the super Bowl.
[45:39] Speaker 2: What I have to find out is can I get
[45:41] Speaker 2: him from week three to week twelve to be a
[45:43] Speaker 2: better quarterback. I'm not solving all your issues. So I
[45:46] Speaker 2: was told that years ago by a guy, like what
[45:49] Speaker 2: he goes when people beat he goes. You don't know
[45:52] Speaker 2: the injuries. A lot of times you can't use certain
[45:54] Speaker 2: substitution patterns. You're like, why don't you go get this? Yeah,
[45:58] Speaker 2: you can't actually use it, but you didn't advertise it
[46:00] Speaker 2: to the other team that that tight end is hurt.
[46:03] Speaker 2: And he's like, there's matchups that are a problem. There's
[46:07] Speaker 2: sometimes a GM told me this once, he goes, you'll
[46:09] Speaker 2: go into certain weeks by November and you literally have
[46:13] Speaker 2: a guard that has got twelve to eighteen snaps in him,
[46:20] Speaker 2: and you're just try Kurt Shilling once told me when
[46:22] Speaker 2: he got old, he goes, I had twelve fastballs. You
[46:24] Speaker 2: can't use him in the first two winnings. You've got
[46:26] Speaker 2: to save them. You'll go in and have a right
[46:28] Speaker 2: guard and you're like, he's got about fifteen snaps, but
[46:32] Speaker 2: we need forty, and so you run to the other side.
[46:35] Speaker 2: You don't do as you know, pass protect against that matchup.
[46:40] Speaker 2: So it literally you know there's other things now the
[46:43] Speaker 2: backups get hurt and you're like, well, we don't have
[46:45] Speaker 2: another slot corner, so we're gonna have to play softer
[46:49] Speaker 2: coverage here because that's a physical receiver. So through the years,
[46:52] Speaker 2: I've learned there's a lot of stuff you just don't advertise.
[46:55] Speaker 2: But you go into games by November, you've got all
[46:59] Speaker 2: sorts of holes. You just can't let them know them.
[47:02] Speaker 2: In the first two drives. Well, I've been using my
[47:08] Speaker 2: JLab headphones for a couple of years now and they're
[47:11] Speaker 2: still like brand new. They have great, amazing battery life.

[47:44] Speaker 2: I put those puppies on. If you're hanging out in

[48:12] Speaker 2: dot com today if you smoke or dip, I'm gonna

[48:18] Speaker 2: nicotine pouches. First, it's America's number one nicotine pouch brand,
[48:22] Speaker 2: and Zen offers a robust rewards program. There's a lot
[48:25] Speaker 2: of options for nicotine satisfaction, but there's only one Zen.
[48:28] Speaker 2: So if you go to Zen dot com, slash find
[48:31] Speaker 2: that's Zyn dot com, slash fine, define Zen at a
[48:34] Speaker 2: store near you. This product does contain nicotine. Nicotine is
[48:38] Speaker 2: an addictive chemical. Lions beat the Ravens thirty eight to thirty.
[48:50] Speaker 2: It did not feel like it was thirty eight to thirty.
[48:53] Speaker 2: It felt like it was forty eight to twenty. Detroit
[48:57] Speaker 2: was seven sacks. Really, you watch Baltimore and it made
[49:03] Speaker 2: you just think less of Baltimore as a franchise, Like,
[49:06] Speaker 2: I don't remember the last time Baltimore at home got
[49:11] Speaker 2: pushed around like that, especially by an NFC team, Just
[49:16] Speaker 2: completely pushed around, so demoralizing. I mean, if you take
[49:21] Speaker 2: away three or four incredible Lamar Jackson plays, He's an
[49:25] Speaker 2: insane talent. This game was never really competitive. I mean,
[49:29] Speaker 2: at one point, the Lions converted seven of ten third
[49:32] Speaker 2: and fourth downs. You know, I mean Lamar Jackson. Not
[49:37] Speaker 2: only did Detroit come in and take command early, but
[49:39] Speaker 2: then at halftime they got more dominant in the second half.
[49:44] Speaker 2: So that's just personnel. And you have to be careful
[49:47] Speaker 2: about first impressions because our first impression of Detroit with
[49:52] Speaker 2: new coordinators was the Hall of Fame game. They were awful.
[49:56] Speaker 2: Then the preseason you're like, oh, they're bad, and then
[49:58] Speaker 2: the opener at Green Bay and you're like, oh, Detroit,
[50:01] Speaker 2: this this isn't gonna work. They're gonna miss Ben Johnson.
[50:04] Speaker 2: But what they've done since then is they've really gotten
[50:07] Speaker 2: back to basics. With the game against the Bears and
[50:10] Speaker 2: the game against the Ravens, They're going to run the football,
[50:12] Speaker 2: they're gonna pound it. And once again, if you looked
[50:16] Speaker 2: at the rosters tonight, I mean, obviously Goff and Amaran
[50:19] Speaker 2: Saint Brown and Hutchinson the branch, those are great, great players,
[50:23] Speaker 2: Jamior Gibbs. But one of the things Detroit has done
[50:26] Speaker 2: exceedingly well. You know, you when Sean McVay came to
[50:30] Speaker 2: the Rams, the coach turned around the franchise. You could
[50:34] Speaker 2: say Shanahan turned around the Niners, but he has a
[50:37] Speaker 2: losing record without McCaffrey. Really, Christian McCaffrey is the guy
[50:41] Speaker 2: that took Kyle Shanahan's ability to magically transform quarterbacks and
[50:45] Speaker 2: made it all work. I mean, McCaffrey really has taken
[50:49] Speaker 2: them that offense to a different level. When you look
[50:54] Speaker 2: at Detroit, it's their front office. I mean, these rosters.
[50:58] Speaker 2: I mean last year they're falling apart physically. They had
[51:02] Speaker 2: to go heavy into the interior line in this draft,
[51:06] Speaker 2: and they're starting a rookie on the offensive line. Baltimore
[51:09] Speaker 2: was a little dinged up on the d line, but
[51:11] Speaker 2: you just look at that roster man. They got good players.
[51:15] Speaker 2: I mean, they just have dudes all over that offense.
[51:18] Speaker 2: I mean, when you can have elite tackles in this sport,
[51:24] Speaker 2: you're one of four or five teams in this league
[51:26] Speaker 2: that have elite tackles at bow spots, and that's the Lions.
[51:32] Speaker 2: And they put on a clinic tonight. You know, I
[51:34] Speaker 2: take all these notes, and I was taking them in
[51:36] Speaker 2: the first half like it was going to be a
[51:38] Speaker 2: really close finish, but Detroit came in with it. I mean,
[51:41] Speaker 2: they had ninety eight and ninety six yard drives. Usually,
[51:44] Speaker 2: if you say you're going to go on the road,
[51:45] Speaker 2: you're gonna face a really good franchise, a Pro Bowl quarterback,
[51:49] Speaker 2: and you're going to be pinned deep multiple times in
[51:52] Speaker 2: the game. That is really an omen for a tough
[51:56] Speaker 2: Monday night football game. Detroit had ninety eight ninety six
[52:00] Speaker 2: yard scoring drives. I mean it was crazy. And when
[52:05] Speaker 2: they went forward on fourth and two and gofits that
[52:09] Speaker 2: big pass to Omor on Saint Brown, of course they
[52:11] Speaker 2: went for it. That was an easy one. That just
[52:13] Speaker 2: that's part of their culture. I will say this for
[52:15] Speaker 2: Dan Campbell. I thought he had a kind of a
[52:17] Speaker 2: goofy opening press conference. But I've told this story several times.
[52:21] Speaker 2: I was talking to a general manager in the league
[52:23] Speaker 2: who has hired a couple of coaches, and he said,
[52:24] Speaker 2: you're really hiring a CEO. If you can get a
[52:27] Speaker 2: great schematic coach like an Andy Reid or Kyle Shanahan,
[52:30] Speaker 2: that's a bonus. What you want as a leader of men,
[52:33] Speaker 2: what you want. You know, if a guy is too
[52:36] Speaker 2: much about schemes and not about leadership, it's not gonna work.
[52:39] Speaker 2: That's Mike McDaniel and Miami. It's great that Andy Reid
[52:43] Speaker 2: can do both, but you're hiring a leader of men
[52:46] Speaker 2: and that can build a culture. That's Vrabel, That's Dan Campbell,
[52:50] Speaker 2: and he has been steadfast, like he has never wavered
[52:53] Speaker 2: on this. They're going to go for it. They're going
[52:55] Speaker 2: to be super aggressive, they're going to be super physical.
[52:58] Speaker 2: They put on a clinic. I mean that that is
[53:00] Speaker 2: the most impressive game an NFC team has played in
[53:03] Speaker 2: Baltimore in five years, in almost the Lamar Jackson era.
[53:09] Speaker 2: That was a dominating performance. Yeah, I mean third quarter,
[53:14] Speaker 2: Lamar had that drive where he had three connections, two
[53:17] Speaker 2: of TheMark Andrews great throw to Mark Andrews in the
[53:20] Speaker 2: end zone, but then goff to Homer on Saint Brown answers,
[53:23] Speaker 2: great throw and boom twenty one, twenty one. So every
[53:27] Speaker 2: time Baltimore made something happen, the Ravens came right back.
[53:31] Speaker 2: I want to look at a couple of these numbers.
[53:34] Speaker 2: By the way, for the record, the Ravens are one
[53:35] Speaker 2: and two for the second straight year. They're gonna be fine.
[53:38] Speaker 2: But the way they got manhandled tonight, and you know
[53:43] Speaker 2: it's funny. Everybody talked about Lamar Jackson being so good
[53:47] Speaker 2: on Monday Night football because he was. What is interesting
[53:51] Speaker 2: is how good Jared Goff has been in primetime. He's
[53:53] Speaker 2: the opposite of Kirk Cousins. Jared Goff is eleven and
[53:57] Speaker 2: one in primetime. And the first big primetime game I
[54:00] Speaker 2: remember about Jared Goff as he faced Patrick Mahomes. I
[54:04] Speaker 2: think it was going to be in Mexico City. It
[54:07] Speaker 2: got postponed, it got moved. They played in the Coliseum
[54:10] Speaker 2: pre Sofi obviously, and he outdueled Patrick Mahomes. And that's
[54:15] Speaker 2: the first one I really remember. He was good, but
[54:17] Speaker 2: you're like, wow, GoF gets on heaters and when he does,
[54:23] Speaker 2: it's pretty special. I want to look at I want
[54:24] Speaker 2: to look at right now. Here's the official stats. Detroit
[54:29] Speaker 2: had four hundred and twenty seven yards six point six
[54:32] Speaker 2: yards of play, twenty five first downs, perfect on fourth down,
[54:38] Speaker 2: dominated time of possession. I mean to go on the
[54:41] Speaker 2: road and have eight penalties and when it is something else,
[54:45] Speaker 2: I mean, now again, it wasn't like the Ravens weren't
[54:49] Speaker 2: good on third down. They were six of eleven, but
[54:52] Speaker 2: they allowed seven sacks and the Lions didn't allow any
[54:55] Speaker 2: What a performance, And think about the team that has
[54:58] Speaker 2: been so dominant the AFC for years, Kansas City. I mean,
[55:04] Speaker 2: right now I'm thinking about my Super Bowl bubble. Do
[55:07] Speaker 2: I put Detroit back in it? I mean again, Hall
[55:10] Speaker 2: of Fame game, preseason opener against Green Bay. They just
[55:13] Speaker 2: knew coordinators. They look awful. Johnny Morton tonight, I don't
[55:16] Speaker 2: know if you'll call a better game. I mean it
[55:19] Speaker 2: was just and you know sometimes coordinators, offensive coordinators say
[55:23] Speaker 2: they want to run the ball, but they get too clever,
[55:26] Speaker 2: they get too cute. Even Sean McVay sometimes can get
[55:29] Speaker 2: a little bit cute. I mean Johnny Morton tonight, he
[55:32] Speaker 2: just kept going back to the run. I mean, they
[55:34] Speaker 2: didn't and it didn't. It didn't look like the Ben
[55:36] Speaker 2: Johnson Lions. There was no cute. I mean anytime there
[55:41] Speaker 2: was a question what they were going to do, I
[55:43] Speaker 2: mean they did. They did have that double option on
[55:46] Speaker 2: fourth and one. They had one, which I think they've
[55:49] Speaker 2: run that about once a year the last several years.
[55:51] Speaker 2: It feels like maybe more. I don't watch every snap
[55:53] Speaker 2: for the Lions. That's just a great call. And if
[55:56] Speaker 2: you run it twice a year, you know, it's hard
[55:59] Speaker 2: to defend. Really clever and every time I remember Detroit
[56:02] Speaker 2: running it, they've run it well. I think I've seen
[56:04] Speaker 2: them running a couple different times. So but they didn't.
[56:07] Speaker 2: They didn't outthink the room Detroit. It's like we're on
[56:10] Speaker 2: the road. I mean, how fast did the first half go?
[56:12] Speaker 2: Because of both teams were running, The first half.
[56:15] Speaker 3: Just flew by.
[56:16] Speaker 2: It was really good football. Like I love football. I
[56:20] Speaker 2: like quick football. You can get me beginning to end
[56:22] Speaker 2: in three forty. That's good football. Sometimes these college games
[56:26] Speaker 2: go on forever because the team trails, they have to
[56:29] Speaker 2: throw to get back into it. They're not very good
[56:31] Speaker 2: at quarterback. The clockets stopping it's awful. God, that was
[56:37] Speaker 2: an incredible performance. If you're a Lions fan, you know
[56:41] Speaker 2: you look at this league on a macro level. As
[56:43] Speaker 2: I was saying about Kansas City, look at how Kansas
[56:46] Speaker 2: City is just struggling to get their offensive line right,
[56:50] Speaker 2: to get their running game right. You know what I
[56:53] Speaker 2: think we've seen and tonight is a stamp on it.
[56:57] Speaker 2: For about four years because the AFC gms did such
[57:01] Speaker 2: a good job to hit on quarterbacks Herbert Burrow, Lamar
[57:06] Speaker 2: Josh Allen. They just kept hitting one after another after night.
[57:09] Speaker 2: Even the ones that haven't lived up to the billing
[57:12] Speaker 2: Trevor Lawrence, you know, are still you know, better than average.
[57:17] Speaker 2: And so I felt like, Okay, the AFC hit on
[57:21] Speaker 2: these quarterbacks. Then they had to pay all of them,
[57:23] Speaker 2: and the rosters aren't as good. You're watching the Lions
[57:26] Speaker 2: roster tonight, the Packers, despite losing to Cleveland, great roster.
[57:29] Speaker 2: Philadelphia's roster is the best in football, Seattle's roster, they've
[57:33] Speaker 2: had back to back to back good drafts, the Rams
[57:36] Speaker 2: defensive roster. So what happened is the AFC for about
[57:39] Speaker 2: five years with all these great quarterbacks. You're like, wow,
[57:42] Speaker 2: there was a gap AFC NFC. Then you have to
[57:45] Speaker 2: pay all the quarterbacks in the AFC. Okay, now the
[57:47] Speaker 2: rosters aren't as good. I mean, Buffalo's back into their defense, eh,
[57:51] Speaker 2: I mean Ravens defense tonight, especially in the box. I mean,
[57:54] Speaker 2: come on, they got pushed around. I mean, Kansas City's
[57:57] Speaker 2: defense is playing well, but their offense, the offensive line
[58:00] Speaker 2: run game. So now it feels like to me it
[58:02] Speaker 2: has swung back. I mean I'm thinking top of my
[58:05] Speaker 2: head of the teams in the top ten, Tampa's the
[58:07] Speaker 2: top ten team Seattle is San Francisco is, Philadelphia is
[58:11] Speaker 2: Green Bay is I think Detroit has to be. I
[58:14] Speaker 2: mean Kansas City's not. I don't know what you do
[58:16] Speaker 2: with Baltimore after tonight. They're gonna be fine. They started
[58:18] Speaker 2: one and two last year. They're gonna be fine. But
[58:21] Speaker 2: Denver hasn't been as good as we thought. Baltimore's off
[58:24] Speaker 2: to one, one and two start. Kansas City offensively is sputtering.
[58:28] Speaker 2: Feels like the NFC not saying that because I work
[58:31] Speaker 2: at Fox. It feels like the NFC has had this run.
[58:36] Speaker 2: And in the NFC you have really good quarterbacks on
[58:39] Speaker 2: reasonable deals. Sam Darnold brought pretty Baker Mayfield, Jalen Hurts
[58:46] Speaker 2: is on a pretty team friendly deal. Dak isn't. But
[58:49] Speaker 2: a lot of the NFC quarterbacks who aren't considered superstars,
[58:52] Speaker 2: their stars are on better team friendly deals, like Darnald
[58:58] Speaker 2: and like Baker. Well that allow you'd have better rosters.
[59:01] Speaker 2: And my staff does such a great job. The NFC
[59:05] Speaker 2: is nine and two this season against the AFC, and boy,
[59:09] Speaker 2: tonight was an exclamation point. That was not just a win.
[59:13] Speaker 2: That was physical domination. I mean they that was bully ball.
[59:21] Speaker 2: That was pushing the Ravens around man Aiden Hutchison. They
[59:26] Speaker 2: kind of limited Lamar as a runner for the most part.
[59:30] Speaker 2: And I like Derrick Henry for the record, but since
[59:34] Speaker 2: twenty nineteen, and this was an Adrian Peterson issue. Since
[59:39] Speaker 2: twenty nineteen, Derrick Henry tied for the most fumbles in
[59:43] Speaker 2: the league among the running backs. And I know that
[59:46] Speaker 2: it was a bad fumble deep in their own territory.
[59:50] Speaker 2: You know, feel like, oh, that really hurt the team.
[59:53] Speaker 2: That's not what the game was about. That's not what
[59:54] Speaker 2: the game was about. You gotta be honest if you're
[59:56] Speaker 2: a Ravens fan, this was not your night. Detroit roster
[1:00:01] Speaker 2: better than Baltimore roster. Detroit game plan better than Baltimore
[1:00:04] Speaker 2: game plan. So it's official. Lions went it thirty eight
[1:00:10] Speaker 2: to thirty. It didn't feel like it was thirty eight
[1:00:13] Speaker 2: to thirty. It did not feel like that
