[1:19] Speaker 1: Something popped in my head the other day. PFF had
[1:22] Speaker 1: Sean Payton as the second best coach in the league,
[1:24] Speaker 1: and I actually, and I'm not saying this because I
[1:27] Speaker 1: get along with Sean, we really hit it off. But
[1:30] Speaker 1: I'm also saying this, I don't think he's quite getting
[1:33] Speaker 1: enough credit for what he's done in Denver. And some
[1:35] Speaker 1: of that is Harbaugh soaks up so much of the
[1:39] Speaker 1: glare because he's such a character, and then there's the
[1:41] Speaker 1: reigning dynasty in the division, and now you've got Pete
[1:44] Speaker 1: Carrolyn Chip Kelly. So Denver sort of gets lost from
[1:47] Speaker 1: a publicity standpoint. But John think about this. So he
[1:51] Speaker 1: goes into an organization and the culture's broken, the quarterback's
[1:56] Speaker 1: a mess, and there's impending new ownership. So he goes
[2:00] Speaker 1: in the first year, I think they are one game,
[2:03] Speaker 1: they win three more games. He makes Russ functional. He
[2:09] Speaker 1: cleans up the offensive line from like twenty first to
[2:12] Speaker 1: like seventh. It just got ranked second by the way
[2:16] Speaker 1: PFF's grade starting the season. It's now second. Last year
[2:21] Speaker 1: with Herbert Mahomes, Harbaugh Reid, he has a rookie quarterback.
[2:27] Speaker 1: They end up leading the league in sacks. It is
[2:30] Speaker 1: now a bonafie top offensive line with really one Courtland Sutton,
[2:35] Speaker 1: one dependable weapon. And I mean, I just I looked
[2:40] Speaker 1: at them last year and I thought I thought they'd
[2:43] Speaker 1: be good with Bonnix. I don't think we understand it.
[2:48] Speaker 1: You start looking at that division and in almost every
[2:51] Speaker 1: other division with the number two oher line Sean Payton,
[2:55] Speaker 1: a very capable young quarterback leader in sacks, they get
[2:58] Speaker 1: green Law and Hufunga. I'm like, are we I think
[3:02] Speaker 1: what he's done there the last year to make the
[3:04] Speaker 1: playoffs with eighty nine million dollars, I think it was
[3:06] Speaker 1: in dead cap money? Are we undervalue in use? Are
[3:09] Speaker 1: the glare with everybody else? What he's done in Denver.
[3:12] Speaker 2: I've watched a couple of his press conferences during OTAs.
[3:15] Speaker 2: He thinks his team's pretty good. He thinks his team's
[3:18] Speaker 2: pretty good because defensively they got a chance to dominate.
[3:21] Speaker 2: And if you have a dominant defense with an offensive
[3:24] Speaker 2: coach who's proven, like, how are your floor is so high?
[3:28] Speaker 2: I mean your floor is immediately like ten wins. And
[3:31] Speaker 2: someone sent me this DM recently. They said, you know,
[3:34] Speaker 2: everyone talks about Jayden and I understand why, but look
[3:38] Speaker 2: at pull up the stats for bow Knicks and jay
[3:40] Speaker 2: I think we talked about bow Knicks like he threw
[3:42] Speaker 2: eighteen touchdowns. He threw twenty nine touchdowns. Now some of
[3:45] Speaker 2: these are scheme touchdowns, but his numbers, you know, you know,
[3:49] Speaker 2: the accuracy is something that I think he has to
[3:52] Speaker 2: work on. Now the weapons have the running back in
[3:54] Speaker 2: the draft, but I do think that you know, is
[3:58] Speaker 2: he a guy Undershawn Peyton if he just becomes like
[4:02] Speaker 2: Sean Payton's version, even if he's not Drew Brees or whatever,
[4:05] Speaker 2: but just like a Jared Goff a brock Party, like
[4:07] Speaker 2: a consistent artor for they're gonna be really good for
[4:10] Speaker 2: a while. And I know last week you had the
[4:12] Speaker 2: Chargers for they could be to win the division. It's
[4:15] Speaker 2: not just not inconceivable, right because he's a he's a
[4:18] Speaker 2: unique second year player. How old is he twenty five
[4:20] Speaker 2: years old, like he's played a lot of.
[4:21] Speaker 1: Football, and he I think unless you watch him, he
[4:25] Speaker 1: didn't move a lot at Oregon. Sean lets him move
[4:29] Speaker 1: and he can. I mean, he's an athlete that that
[4:32] Speaker 1: dude is ripped. When I went to the Oregon Utah game,
[4:36] Speaker 1: I saw him play the Huskies, but I was up,
[4:38] Speaker 1: so I bought really good seats for Oregon Utah. I
[4:40] Speaker 1: wanted to be behind Oregon's bench. And he's on the
[4:43] Speaker 1: sideline and he is cut and you just watch him
[4:48] Speaker 1: in these NFL games and I always kind of look
[4:50] Speaker 1: at it. When a quarterback runs, how's the outside linebacker,
[4:53] Speaker 1: how's the outside linebacker stack up? He runs past him.
[4:56] Speaker 1: I mean he when he gets ahead of steam going,
[4:59] Speaker 1: he can move past guys. And I remember when Johnny
[5:02] Speaker 1: Manziel broke into the league. He went for a couple
[5:04] Speaker 1: of runs in the defensive end chased him out and
[5:06] Speaker 1: You're like, yeah, that's not gonna work. That's just not
[5:08] Speaker 1: gonna work when that guy is chasing it down. But
[5:10] Speaker 1: I Sean is one of those no nonsense guys, and
[5:14] Speaker 1: he's a little gruff. I remember when he said something
[5:17] Speaker 1: in Aaron Rodgers. You know, when he said something about
[5:20] Speaker 1: NTT Hackett. And again, I don't think the media always
[5:23] Speaker 1: gives Sean quite a fair shake because he's pretty rough
[5:27] Speaker 1: and pretty direct. But that funga pickup. You know, he's
[5:32] Speaker 1: been banged up. He's an elite safety well to.
[5:37] Speaker 2: Me, I mean two years ago as well pro in
[5:39] Speaker 2: green Law. I mean a lot of question marks with
[5:41] Speaker 2: his with his health. But if one of those two
[5:44] Speaker 2: guys is a full time player, let alone both of them,
[5:47] Speaker 2: the violence of their defense will be it'll be one
[5:50] Speaker 2: of the, if not the hardest hitting defense in the league.
[5:52] Speaker 2: I mean, they already were right up there last year.
[5:55] Speaker 2: And you know, we talk a lot about this when
[5:57] Speaker 2: it comes to quarterback, especially young quarterbacks. Is the intangibles,
[6:02] Speaker 2: the maturity, the focus, the drive. You know, bo Nicks
[6:06] Speaker 2: and Jaden gets a lot of credit for that, rightfully,
[6:08] Speaker 2: so Bo bo Nick should be right there too in
[6:10] Speaker 2: terms of, you know, the way they spoke about him
[6:13] Speaker 2: at Oregon, his maturity, also what he's been through a
[6:16] Speaker 2: lot like Jayden, like and I would say unlike Jayden,
[6:19] Speaker 2: it's easier to fail at Arizona State. No one really cares.
[6:22] Speaker 2: Team hasn't Mado. You struggle at Auburn when you're in
[6:25] Speaker 2: his situation like that was a that was like an NFL,
[6:29] Speaker 2: the way they're covered, the amount of people that care. Uh,
[6:32] Speaker 2: the spotlight that was on him. Remember he was I
[6:34] Speaker 2: think his first start was against Justin Herbert. Remember that
[6:37] Speaker 2: organ Vern game.
[6:38] Speaker 1: Along line well in the corner. He played a big
[6:43] Speaker 1: throw as a freshman into the corner of the end
[6:45] Speaker 1: zone to win it.
[6:45] Speaker 2: And then his career just kind of unraveled as their
[6:48] Speaker 2: program did. And then he went to Oregon. You've seen
[6:50] Speaker 2: them in two stable environments, Oregon and Denver, and he's thrived.
[6:53] Speaker 2: So it's safe to say, like, yeah, pretty impressive guy.
[6:56] Speaker 2: I would bet on bow Knicks because Sean Payton clearly
[7:00] Speaker 2: not going anywhere. I mean, they are a twelve thirteen
[7:03] Speaker 2: win season away from Sean Payton then getting a huge
[7:05] Speaker 2: contract extension, right he was given five years ninety million.
[7:08] Speaker 2: That they have a good year and the trajectory of
[7:11] Speaker 2: this franchise and listen, I would have assumed when Sean
[7:15] Speaker 2: got the job that General Patton, the GM would have
[7:18] Speaker 2: been fired. And John kind of feels like he's worked
[7:20] Speaker 2: pretty seamlessly. They worked together. Maybe Sean's realized I got
[7:24] Speaker 2: to pick my battles, like, let's just get along, and
[7:26] Speaker 2: it feels like they got a pretty stable organization. That's
[7:29] Speaker 2: the thing with Pete Carroll and the Raiders, like Jim
[7:32] Speaker 2: Harbaughs kind of matured. Sean Payton's at a different stage
[7:35] Speaker 2: in his life obviously. You know, Andy's the most human
[7:38] Speaker 2: feature on the scene. It's a really really difficult division
[7:41] Speaker 2: with these guys like that have really figured it out,
[7:43] Speaker 2: that have cracked the code of personality. What it takes,
[7:46] Speaker 2: the energy that it takes, what they're looking they know
[7:48] Speaker 2: exactly what they're looking for.
[7:50] Speaker 1: It's pretty scary. Yeah, No, I think I think, actually
[7:55] Speaker 1: Patton's a pretty good GM. I thought I didn't think
[7:58] Speaker 1: the problem was I thought the problem was Hacke It listen,
[8:02] Speaker 1: it happens. I mean, Bob Kraft is a good owner.
[8:05] Speaker 1: He hired draw on Mayo and he just wasn't ready
[8:07] Speaker 1: for it. Like it happens. It's hard to hire coaches.
[8:10] Speaker 1: I mean, they took a huge swing on Sean McVay
[8:13] Speaker 1: in Los Angeles. They wouldn't let him out of the building.
[8:16] Speaker 1: That was a but you know, at one point Lane
[8:19] Speaker 1: Kiffin was in the NFL and was a pretty good coach.
[8:23] Speaker 1: The dysfunction of the Raiders ended that.
[8:25] Speaker 2: But and they tired Packet right because they thought Rogers
[8:29] Speaker 2: was gonna come, which I would have done two at
[8:30] Speaker 2: the time. I mean that was yeah.
[8:32] Speaker 1: Listen, Josh McDaniels was a guest on my show and
[8:35] Speaker 1: we kept in touch. He's a really, really sharp guy.
[8:38] Speaker 1: It just hasn't worked as head coach. He's a tremendous coordinator.
[8:42] Speaker 1: So whatever the magic is, I don't know exactly what
[8:45] Speaker 1: it is. Some guys work some dope. I wanted to
[8:49] Speaker 1: so the you know, the overs and unders are coming out,
[8:53] Speaker 1: so I want us to give the audience have some fun. Here.
[8:56] Speaker 1: Two overs and two unders, and I'll start this. All
[9:02] Speaker 1: the odds are provided by DraftKings sportsbook. So I'm going
[9:06] Speaker 1: to give you an under, then you give me an under,
[9:10] Speaker 1: and I'll give you another under, and then we'll do
[9:12] Speaker 1: two overs. So my first under is the Chiefs at
[9:15] Speaker 1: eleven and a half. Okay, Joe Tooney was by far
[9:18] Speaker 1: and away the most had the most dexterity of any
[9:23] Speaker 1: of their offensive linemen. He's gone. They are now crossing
[9:29] Speaker 1: their fingers on a backup left tackle from San Francisco.
[9:33] Speaker 1: They were eleven and zher in one possession games right,
[9:37] Speaker 1: and now the division is much better. The coaching and
[9:41] Speaker 1: the quarterback play Bo Nixon, year two, Geno Smith, if
[9:45] Speaker 1: they get a running back in the first round. Geno
[9:48] Speaker 1: Smith has a one zero six passer rating in Seattle
[9:53] Speaker 1: on play action passing, like if you give him a
[9:56] Speaker 1: run game, Gino's very good on third and two. Right,
[10:00] Speaker 1: He's very good with play action passing second in five,
[10:05] Speaker 1: third and two, third and three. So I don't think
[10:10] Speaker 1: I would take the under. Now, maybe they just go
[10:12] Speaker 1: eleven and six, but I think the division is going
[10:15] Speaker 1: to be improved. The quarterback play between Gino second year
[10:19] Speaker 1: Bo again. I thought last year there were offensive line
[10:23] Speaker 1: injuries with the Chargers. My guess is they'll be healthier. Okay,
[10:27] Speaker 1: what say you give me an give me an under?
[10:30] Speaker 2: Did you say ten and a half On that number.
[10:31] Speaker 1: It's eleven and a half. DraftKings has the Chiefs at
[10:34] Speaker 1: eleven and a half. I would bet the under got you.
[10:37] Speaker 1: They have won over twelve games. I think every year Mahomes.
[10:41] Speaker 2: Has started beside one. Yeah, I hear you. It's you can
[10:44] Speaker 2: have a good year. I mean they won a super Bowl,
[10:45] Speaker 2: win a eleven, I would say an under I like
[10:53] Speaker 2: I do think the forty nine ers who are to
[10:58] Speaker 2: the Rams, won that division and were really good and honestly,
[11:01] Speaker 2: I mean a couple of plays away from potentially beating
[11:03] Speaker 2: the Eagles, and who knows, they might end up in
[11:04] Speaker 2: the Super Bowl and win it. They wanted a ten
[11:07] Speaker 2: and seven, right, So, and they're a team going through
[11:10] Speaker 2: a lot of transition. So the forty nine ers won
[11:13] Speaker 2: six games, though they were in a lot of them.
[11:15] Speaker 2: They kind of melted at the end in a lot
[11:17] Speaker 2: of them. So I actually think I think a lot
[11:20] Speaker 2: of people are gonna think they're gonna win like six
[11:22] Speaker 2: or seven games. I think they're gonna be better than
[11:23] Speaker 2: people think. But once you start getting over ten, like
[11:27] Speaker 2: ten and a half, like you could win nine or
[11:29] Speaker 2: ten games, be that seven seed, hell, compete to win
[11:32] Speaker 2: the division and have a good season. So I think
[11:35] Speaker 2: the days, you know, definitely this season that's gonna be
[11:39] Speaker 2: very dependent on young rookie players.
[11:41] Speaker 1: Yeah, they have twelve draft picks.
[11:44] Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean that's we've seen the Rams the last
[11:45] Speaker 2: couple of years. I don't know exactly, They've been a
[11:47] Speaker 2: fantastic team. At the end of the year, They're not
[11:50] Speaker 2: winning twelve games, so I think the Niners probably more
[11:53] Speaker 2: likely to win nine or ten games. I also think
[11:55] Speaker 2: that division is just gonna be you know, the Cardinals
[11:58] Speaker 2: are just a tough game every time.
[12:00] Speaker 1: Yep.
[12:00] Speaker 2: Obviously the Rams are good in Seattle, going through a
[12:04] Speaker 2: little bit of a transitional period, but they're head coach.
[12:07] Speaker 2: I think they're a pretty well run operation.
[12:10] Speaker 1: Yeah, Listen, they're one of my unders too at ten
[12:12] Speaker 1: and a half. Yeah, they tried to get green Law
[12:17] Speaker 1: back from Denver. They did not want to lose Hufunga. Okay,
[12:21] Speaker 1: but those were two big defensive losses. And let's be honest, John,
[12:25] Speaker 1: the Bosa's get hurt when Boso was off the field.
[12:28] Speaker 1: Last year, they were not a very good defense. They
[12:31] Speaker 1: were really inconsistent. So now who Fungus gone, green Law's gone,
[12:35] Speaker 1: Bosa will miss a stretch and it's not a great draft.
[12:39] Speaker 1: So I don't think there's an impact player defensively. Maybe
[12:43] Speaker 1: if they got like Will Johnson at corner from Michigan,
[12:46] Speaker 1: I think that would be a really really you'd have
[12:48] Speaker 1: to be happy with that. But yeah, I think I
[12:52] Speaker 1: have San Francisco as an under. So I have Kansas
[12:55] Speaker 1: City you have San Francisco, I have San Francisco. Give
[12:58] Speaker 1: me another under I would say.
[13:01] Speaker 2: I think there's a chance Miami is like the one
[13:03] Speaker 2: of the worst teams in the NFL. Like it would
[13:05] Speaker 2: not shock me if you tell me, as you and
[13:08] Speaker 2: I are sitting here doing a free draft a couple
[13:10] Speaker 2: of weeks, Miami's in the mix. Maybe they don't have
[13:13] Speaker 2: the number one overall pick, but I could see him
[13:15] Speaker 2: being like the giants of the Patriots, drafting three or four.
[13:18] Speaker 2: It would not shock me to see them struggle to
[13:21] Speaker 2: win four or five games. I think they're going to
[13:24] Speaker 2: be terrible. I thought that last year, and they just
[13:27] Speaker 2: obviously when two was on the field, they're more functional.
[13:30] Speaker 2: It would not surprise me at all if this Tyreek
[13:33] Speaker 2: situation doesn't go away and he ends up playing for
[13:35] Speaker 2: another team this year. I don't know if that trade
[13:37] Speaker 2: would happen during the draft. I know they've pushed back
[13:39] Speaker 2: against that, maybe at the end of training camp. But
[13:43] Speaker 2: I just expect Miami to implode. I really do. I mean,
[13:47] Speaker 2: I don't really like the Jets that much either, but
[13:49] Speaker 2: like even last year, the Jets do have a lot
[13:51] Speaker 2: of good players. Oh absolutely, I just don't think Miami
[13:54] Speaker 2: has that many good players and they are one concussion
[13:56] Speaker 2: away from all of a sudden, Zach Wilson's are starting quarterback.
[14:01] Speaker 1: Okay, I'll give you an over. I think Brian Callahan's
[14:07] Speaker 1: a good coach. I think Will Levis is a really,
[14:11] Speaker 1: really bad NFL quarterback. I don't think he was a
[14:13] Speaker 1: great college quarterback.
[14:16] Speaker 2: And so I look at.
[14:16] Speaker 1: The over under on Tennessee and you know it's five
[14:21] Speaker 1: and a half. Some have had it at six and
[14:26] Speaker 1: a half. I think they clear that bar easily. First
[14:29] Speaker 1: of all, cam Ward's a playmaker, and nobody's got real
[14:36] Speaker 1: film on him. He didn't do a lot of straight
[14:39] Speaker 1: pocket stuff in college. It was a lot of backyard stuff.
[14:43] Speaker 1: And I think the league will take a while. And
[14:45] Speaker 1: they did this with Jaden Daniels. It took a while
[14:48] Speaker 1: to decode him. People were bo nicks, You're not quite
[14:52] Speaker 1: sure what he is. It's a weak division. The Jags
[14:56] Speaker 1: could be bad, the Colts would be bad. Houston should
[14:59] Speaker 1: be pretty good, not great. I think I'm going to
[15:02] Speaker 1: take the Titans over. I think it's a pretty week schedule.
[15:05] Speaker 1: I think cam Ward is one of the only players
[15:08] Speaker 1: in the draft that can equal wins. I think people
[15:11] Speaker 1: think Callahan's a pretty good coach. And Callahan didn't just
[15:15] Speaker 1: lack trust in will Levis. If you listened to his
[15:20] Speaker 1: postgame comments after losses. He lost them three games straight out,
[15:23] Speaker 1: and you watched his body language, he almost resented that
[15:28] Speaker 1: will Levis was getting in the way of wins, and
[15:31] Speaker 1: so I Titans to me earn over.
[15:34] Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't think people. You know, we talk a
[15:36] Speaker 2: lot about the Browns because of Watson, because Deshaun Watson's
[15:40] Speaker 2: quarterback play by a month and no one was watching
[15:44] Speaker 2: the Titans. Their quarterback play was like historically poor, I
[15:47] Speaker 2: mean the turnovers and sacks he was taking. It was.
[15:49] Speaker 2: Their defense was actually pretty good. Yes, And like any
[15:52] Speaker 2: team with a pretty good defense, when your offense is
[15:54] Speaker 2: that crappy by the time you get to like mid November,
[15:57] Speaker 2: they can't maintain that level of play because they're on
[15:59] Speaker 2: the field so much. So if their offense is just solid,
[16:02] Speaker 2: I'm with you. I mean, he's got his dad there
[16:03] Speaker 2: coaching offensive line. Massive upgrade just based on talent alone.
[16:08] Speaker 2: I would say this, if you look at Vrabel, like
[16:12] Speaker 2: the linebacker version of Harbaugh, you know, wants to play defense,
[16:16] Speaker 2: wants to run the ball. Former players, just guys that
[16:19] Speaker 2: just win. I think the Patriots, we're right up there
[16:24] Speaker 2: with the Bears. Is one of the worst coach teams
[16:26] Speaker 2: you will ever see. Last season, why couldn't they go
[16:30] Speaker 2: nine to eight this year? If you go the Jets,
[16:32] Speaker 2: the Jets are going to be awful. I think the
[16:33] Speaker 2: Dolphins are going to be worse. Ye listen to Bills,
[16:37] Speaker 2: who cares that even if they sweep you. I could
[16:39] Speaker 2: see the Patriots winning eight or nine games.
[16:41] Speaker 1: Listen, they were seven and a half DraftKings. They are
[16:45] Speaker 1: now up to eight and a half. So the Sharps,
[16:48] Speaker 1: it looks like we're all over the Patriots. So New
[16:51] Speaker 1: England was one of my overs. And I said the
[16:54] Speaker 1: other day on the air, I said, I think Vrabel
[16:57] Speaker 1: from girod Mayo is worth three points. I think Drake
[17:00] Speaker 1: may is worth another point based on sophomore season. And
[17:04] Speaker 1: I think it's reasonable assume one hundred and ninety million
[17:07] Speaker 1: in free agency and eight to nine draft picks is
[17:10] Speaker 1: worth one and a half to two points. So if
[17:12] Speaker 1: they're just five and a half points to six points better,
[17:16] Speaker 1: and again you're talking about between the draft and free agency,
[17:20] Speaker 1: like eight to nine new starters for sure, and a
[17:22] Speaker 1: couple of high end starters. You're talking about Drake May
[17:25] Speaker 1: potentially with a Travis Hunter. You're talking about the worst
[17:28] Speaker 1: coach team to probably one of the seven to eight
[17:31] Speaker 1: to nine best coach teams. That's five and a half
[17:33] Speaker 1: to six points. They were three and six in one
[17:36] Speaker 1: possession games with a rookie quarterback. If that's just six
[17:39] Speaker 1: and three, you don't have to go nine to zero.
[17:41] Speaker 1: This is an eight to nine win team. And again
[17:43] Speaker 1: the Jets a bit lost. I agree with you, Miami's
[17:46] Speaker 1: a mess, So I think New England's in play.
[17:50] Speaker 2: I would say the other team would be speaking of
[17:53] Speaker 2: Harbaugh the Chargers. You know, last year, I just didn't
[17:58] Speaker 2: pull the trigger and he did exactly what he of course, yeah, yeah,
[18:01] Speaker 2: the five seed. Well this year it's nine and a half,
[18:03] Speaker 2: and everyone always gets off the scent with them during
[18:06] Speaker 2: like free agency, Jim is not going to trade for
[18:08] Speaker 2: DK Metcalf and give one hundred and fifty million dollars. No,
[18:11] Speaker 2: he didn't do it last year. He's not going to
[18:12] Speaker 2: do it this year. He won't do it next year.
[18:14] Speaker 2: You know what he will do though, in like the
[18:16] Speaker 2: second round, all of a sudden, he will draft his
[18:18] Speaker 2: starting tight end for the next seven years and in
[18:21] Speaker 2: the third round find a defensive tackle that everyone's going,
[18:23] Speaker 2: this guy's not that sexy who will just be a
[18:25] Speaker 2: starter for him for a long time. Then you watch
[18:27] Speaker 2: the season and you just go, God. Their team is
[18:29] Speaker 2: just physical and good. He has a really talented quarterback.
[18:32] Speaker 2: Why couldn't they win twelve games? I mean, they're over
[18:34] Speaker 2: under right now is nine and a half. I think
[18:36] Speaker 2: they are a lock. I mean Jim Harbaugh is now
[18:38] Speaker 2: coach in the NFL five years and made the playoffs
[18:41] Speaker 2: in four of them. So I don't know if they
[18:45] Speaker 2: can overtake the Chiefs, but it wouldn't shock me if
[18:48] Speaker 2: it gets a little closer. And don't let free agency
[18:51] Speaker 2: fool you. He's never gonna play in swimming that into
[18:54] Speaker 2: the pool. They are never going to do that. But
[18:57] Speaker 2: you know, you've talked about this huge advantage for Jim.
[19:01] Speaker 2: All these kids coming in the draft. He's recruited them all,
[19:03] Speaker 2: especially the good ones, so he's gonna know these guys.
[19:06] Speaker 2: It's going to be a huge point of difference for him.
[19:09] Speaker 2: I would expect them to have a good draft. His
[19:11] Speaker 2: GM I think is pretty good. I mean, look at
[19:12] Speaker 2: last year, it's like, how did they pass on Malik Davers?
[19:15] Speaker 2: I don't know. They just got their starting tackle for
[19:16] Speaker 2: the next decade. So I think the Chargers they ruled
[19:22] Speaker 2: me is the wrong word. I just didn't have the
[19:24] Speaker 2: Kahonas just because I was like, I don't know if
[19:26] Speaker 2: their roster is quite good enough. They're not gonna have
[19:28] Speaker 2: great ride receivers. He typically never does, and he always wins.
[19:32] Speaker 2: He won a national championship, he went to a Super Bowl,
[19:35] Speaker 2: Like he's not exactly gonna have Jerry Rice in his prime,
[19:38] Speaker 2: and it's gonna work out just fine.
[19:47] Speaker 1: So I saw something. So ESPN did a survey of executives, coaches, scouts,
[19:53] Speaker 1: and it came out their top ten quarterbacks. And I
[19:56] Speaker 1: was on the plane reading this today and I thought,
[19:58] Speaker 1: that's about as close is any top ten quarterback list
[20:02] Speaker 1: I've ever seen. It Goes Mahomes, Alan Burrow, Lamar Jaden Stafford,
[20:10] Speaker 1: Herbert Goff. I've always thought golf because he's not dynamic,
[20:13] Speaker 1: he's not fun to root for. The guy who was
[20:15] Speaker 1: a number one pick out of Cow he got to
[20:17] Speaker 1: a Super Bowl. I've seen him out do Mahomes in
[20:20] Speaker 1: big games. He's good. Then they go Hurts nine and
[20:23] Speaker 1: Baker ten. And I thought people, when I say this,
[20:26] Speaker 1: that's about as good a list as I've seen. People
[20:28] Speaker 1: would say, oh, what about Baker. Well, I got Baker
[20:31] Speaker 1: if I did a list closer to ten than fifteen.
[20:33] Speaker 1: Now I think over after last year, I think I
[20:36] Speaker 1: kind of scratched down a list on the plane that
[20:38] Speaker 1: I had him at like twelve. But I'm not bothered
[20:41] Speaker 1: at all that Baker. I think Baker and Darnold are
[20:44] Speaker 1: both in that ten to eleven twelve space. I'm totally
[20:46] Speaker 1: comfortable with both.
[20:47] Speaker 2: I'd say Baker now is two straight years and he
[20:50] Speaker 2: has that second year in Cleveland, and just looking at
[20:52] Speaker 2: him on the golf course since been talked about, he's
[20:54] Speaker 2: definitely lost weight. He looks fantastic, and there is an element,
[20:58] Speaker 2: there's a farving element if you remember when Dorsey took
[21:01] Speaker 2: him number one. Overall the intangible kind of the I
[21:05] Speaker 2: would say this though, for what makes Jalen kind of unique?
[21:08] Speaker 2: And the arguments over Jalen are such a waste of time.
[21:10] Speaker 2: Like he won literally won the Super Bowl Super Bowl MVP,
[21:14] Speaker 2: and I looked at his contract by the end of
[21:17] Speaker 2: like twenty twenty seven, he will accumulated two hundred million
[21:20] Speaker 2: dollars playing football on the field. I'm sure he's making money.
[21:23] Speaker 2: He won, like we can argue till we're blue in
[21:25] Speaker 2: the face once he won the Super Bowl, Like he's
[21:28] Speaker 2: got an element that Goff. I mean, hell, lamar, Josh Allen,
[21:31] Speaker 2: some of these guys are still chasing. I think the
[21:33] Speaker 2: top four. You know, Mahomes hasn't played as well in
[21:36] Speaker 2: the regular season as those other three guys the last
[21:38] Speaker 2: couple of years, but we have full faith in him
[21:41] Speaker 2: and the biggest moments to get it done, and he has.
[21:43] Speaker 2: The top four is just set. If you want to
[21:45] Speaker 2: argue Burrow second, Josh Allen second, I don't care. But
[21:49] Speaker 2: like Mahomes is won, then you can argue the ranking
[21:51] Speaker 2: of the next three. I think what makes Stafford unique
[21:54] Speaker 2: if all the teams were equal, like everyone have the
[21:57] Speaker 2: same team in a one game situation, in a month situation,
[22:01] Speaker 2: he could do anyone and go to toe to toe
[22:03] Speaker 2: with anybody where Jared Goff, if I told you your
[22:06] Speaker 2: offensive line had a lot of question marks, you would
[22:09] Speaker 2: like a Jalen Hurts even Baker more than golf. Yeah,
[22:12] Speaker 2: I mean he can't move. He's on the team with
[22:14] Speaker 2: the best offensive line in the league, so it's you know,
[22:17] Speaker 2: he benefits from that. And that's where I think, you know,
[22:20] Speaker 2: Jayden Daniels, I would have had c J. Strouds like
[22:22] Speaker 2: the fifth or sixth best quarterback last year, and if
[22:24] Speaker 2: you an honorable mention in that thing.
[22:27] Speaker 1: Yeah, so I thought I may have CJ. Stroud ten
[22:30] Speaker 1: and Baker eleven ish that felt about right. I like Kyler.
[22:33] Speaker 2: I still like.
[22:34] Speaker 1: Kyler Murray, so I'm in the minority here. I think
[22:36] Speaker 1: he's elusive, and I think he throws a great ball, But.
[22:39] Speaker 2: I think CJ's story kind of speaks to Jayden Daniels.
[22:43] Speaker 2: I would say Jaden as a rookie, it's not apples dapples,
[22:47] Speaker 2: but was better than CJ. Just the eye test, you know, numbers. Yes,
[22:50] Speaker 2: you we could argue, but just Jaden is about as
[22:52] Speaker 2: good as it gets. But they did get to kind
[22:54] Speaker 2: of fly under the radar most of the season until
[22:58] Speaker 2: the playoffs. It's you know what makes Brady Peyton, Tiger Woods,
[23:04] Speaker 2: Aaron Judge, whoever great players is every single year, every
[23:07] Speaker 2: single game Aaron Donald for decade, everyone circled him all
[23:10] Speaker 2: week long, and he's still dominated Reggie White, Lawrence Taylor.
[23:15] Speaker 2: It's like, you know, Patrick mahomes, Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen
[23:18] Speaker 2: have been keeping defensive coordinators up at night for a
[23:21] Speaker 2: long time and they still kick ass. Same with Joe
[23:23] Speaker 2: Burrow last year. Right, you know, Jayden Daniels, this is good.
[23:26] Speaker 2: Everyone's gonna take them seriously. So why I got a
[23:28] Speaker 2: lot of respect for Dan Campbell in the Lions, Like
[23:31] Speaker 2: early on, it's like, okay, you got to the last
[23:33] Speaker 2: couple of years, like everyone has been approaching them like
[23:35] Speaker 2: one of the best teams in the league, and they've
[23:37] Speaker 2: answered the bell. Same with Jared you know, we'll see
[23:39] Speaker 2: Jayden Daniels like no one is sleeping on you this year.
[23:42] Speaker 2: That's from the shittiest team to when you're playing the
[23:44] Speaker 2: pack with the Vikings. That's hard. You know.
[23:47] Speaker 1: Well, even Baseball figured it out with analytics, is that
[23:50] Speaker 1: they don't want to starter facing a batter for the
[23:54] Speaker 1: third time, right, So you go through the order twice
[23:56] Speaker 1: and then by the time you're gonna face So what
[23:58] Speaker 1: they're telling you even started pictures even aces they want
[24:02] Speaker 1: to they want you out of there. But the third
[24:03] Speaker 1: time because a guy after a third Groove on you
[24:06] Speaker 1: gets a vibe because a lot of pictures get better.
[24:08] Speaker 1: You know Verlander and Waynwright in their prime. I thought
[24:11] Speaker 1: Nolan Ryan was better. Fifth Inning on. Can you imagine
[24:14] Speaker 1: pulling Nolan out with a one hitter in the sixth?
[24:17] Speaker 1: You do a Robin Ventura on you. But the reality
[24:21] Speaker 1: is there is truth to what you're saying. Is it
[24:24] Speaker 1: is very hard in the middle of the marathon, when
[24:26] Speaker 1: you're on the treadmill to break down Jadeen Daniels over
[24:30] Speaker 1: the course of two days on a couch in an
[24:32] Speaker 1: office sleeping and say this is this is the solution.
[24:37] Speaker 1: This is the kryptonite. When you give guys an off
[24:39] Speaker 1: seats and these defensive coordinators they find play. They go
[24:42] Speaker 1: through all the analytics and find out he doesn't see
[24:44] Speaker 1: to his right as well as his left. He's more accurate.
[24:47] Speaker 1: So I do think he was miraculous. But I'll also
[24:52] Speaker 1: make this argument, if I told you you combine Lamar
[24:55] Speaker 1: Jackson and Joe Burrow, that's what I thought Jaden Daniels was.
[25:00] Speaker 1: I thought he was. I mean, Burrow to me is
[25:03] Speaker 1: even better than Mahomes. If you told me two minute
[25:05] Speaker 1: drill a minute fifty left, no timeouts left and protection
[25:14] Speaker 1: is okay. I think Burrow's as good as anybody I've
[25:16] Speaker 1: ever seen in the last ten years. Now, Mahomes gets
[25:19] Speaker 1: all the credit because you give.
[25:21] Speaker 2: Him Chase and Higgins. Mahomes numbers look a lot different, right.
[25:24] Speaker 1: You're right, you're right, that's that's fair. But I think
[25:26] Speaker 1: Burrow's ability on third down, third and seven, sitting upon little, tiny,
[25:32] Speaker 1: weird windows, You're like, what in the hell? And I
[25:35] Speaker 1: thought Jaden had that mixed with about eighty five percent
[25:38] Speaker 1: to eighty percent of Lamar Jackson. So I think I
[25:42] Speaker 1: thought Andrew Luck was the best rookie quarterback I've ever
[25:44] Speaker 1: seen with bad teammates, I thought Jayden' surpassed him. He
[25:48] Speaker 1: didn't make the mistakes of Luck. So my take is,
[25:51] Speaker 1: even if he pulls back fifteen percent John, if you
[25:54] Speaker 1: start looking at his third and fourth down numbers last year,
[25:56] Speaker 1: fourth quarter numbers, they are Brady in his prime.
[26:01] Speaker 2: I've been a lot of people, especially the Lamar defenders,
[26:03] Speaker 2: if you just look at the number, you're like, how
[26:05] Speaker 2: the hell do you have him forth? But if you
[26:07] Speaker 2: read the quotes, the executives and the coaches are very
[26:10] Speaker 2: complimentary of Lamar and I agree his passing, the progress
[26:13] Speaker 2: he's made from when he first won that MVP to
[26:15] Speaker 2: the version he's been these last couple of years in
[26:17] Speaker 2: the rate, he's an elite player now and he's a
[26:19] Speaker 2: fantastic passer, at least in the regular season. And he
[26:22] Speaker 2: wasn't that second half of that Bill's game. It just
[26:24] Speaker 2: Mark Andrews had a couple drops. Jayden is already that immediately,
[26:29] Speaker 2: like he's a dominant passer immediately. Now, if you tell
[26:31] Speaker 2: me he this year he throws thirty eight touchdowns and
[26:35] Speaker 2: ten picks, like he's just on the crash course to
[26:37] Speaker 2: be one of the great players of all time. I mean,
[26:40] Speaker 2: if he just answered, because I thought that about CJ
[26:41] Speaker 2: last year's I got he just games easy to him,
[26:44] Speaker 2: and it gets hard. You know, offensive line wasn't quite
[26:46] Speaker 2: as good the offensive coordinator. That's the thing with Cliff seems
[26:49] Speaker 2: like a great guy, and I know everyone in the
[26:51] Speaker 2: league loves him, but I've seen his offense over the
[26:53] Speaker 2: course of time get figured out a little bit. Now
[26:56] Speaker 2: I like Jayden more than I do Kyler, and it
[26:58] Speaker 2: feels like, you know, that version of Kyler that he
[27:01] Speaker 2: dealt with the maturity was a major question mark, not
[27:03] Speaker 2: a question mark with Jayden, but I do think it's
[27:06] Speaker 2: difficult when everyone's gunning for you like you're an all
[27:09] Speaker 2: pro immediately, you know. And it's just that's not how
[27:12] Speaker 2: they were treated last year on a weekly basis, and
[27:14] Speaker 2: they are gonna get the treatment. I think when you
[27:17] Speaker 2: played the Washington Commanders this year, you're not approaching the
[27:20] Speaker 2: game that much different than when you're playing the Eagles,
[27:22] Speaker 2: like this is a twelve thirteen win team they plan
[27:23] Speaker 2: on they can win Super Bowl, like fucking we are
[27:26] Speaker 2: all in all. You know. Belichick used to go on
[27:28] Speaker 2: these long like diatribes when he played like a one
[27:30] Speaker 2: and eleven Miami team. It's like Bill, remember Julian got
[27:34] Speaker 2: mad at me for the Sky. It's like Julian not
[27:36] Speaker 2: Most people can't take these awful teams seriously, but Bill could.
[27:39] Speaker 2: But everyone can. And this is what Bill and Saban
[27:42] Speaker 2: was great at this too, is that they really can
[27:44] Speaker 2: kind of convince you. You don't need to convince when
[27:47] Speaker 2: you're playing the ten and one Baltimore Ravens or when
[27:49] Speaker 2: you're playing the peak Alabama team in your Georgia, right,
[27:52] Speaker 2: it's the team you don't need a new Rockney speech,
[27:55] Speaker 2: You're not gonna need that when you're playing Washington and
[27:57] Speaker 2: for the last decade, if you're a seventh year player
[28:00] Speaker 2: on the Cowboys or the Eagles, like you got a
[28:02] Speaker 2: cruise through the Washington game, that's no longer the case. Now.
[28:05] Speaker 2: It's same thing with the Lions. And that's where I
[28:08] Speaker 2: think Dan Campbell deserves a lot of credit with the
[28:10] Speaker 2: way he's kinda you know, he's a Harboll brother. I
[28:13] Speaker 2: consider him the third Harbboll brother, the way his intensity
[28:15] Speaker 2: is in his focus. And I know you were hard
[28:17] Speaker 2: on him, but I do think he's proven to be
[28:19] Speaker 2: pretty deep good. Right.
[28:21] Speaker 1: Yeah, No, I was wrong on Dan Campbell. I thought
[28:23] Speaker 1: I thought he was a bit of a meathead. And
[28:25] Speaker 1: my take was and I was just like, I don't
[28:27] Speaker 1: know if he's smart enough. The league's getting really smart,
[28:29] Speaker 1: really clever offensively, and he's a little bit of a raw,
[28:31] Speaker 1: raw guy. But you know what, it's so authentic. He
[28:35] Speaker 1: is so passionate and it's so authentic, and I think
[28:38] Speaker 1: that the players can feel that authenticity and they buy
[28:41] Speaker 1: into him. And I also think he has a great
[28:43] Speaker 1: front office, and I mean it's just there that's a
[28:46] Speaker 1: front office that doesn't go for flash. I mean, prime example,
[28:49] Speaker 1: a couple of years ago, they get, you know, an
[28:51] Speaker 1: inside linebacker, a running back that they're getting the best
[28:54] Speaker 1: players available. This year they went heavy on interior offensive lineman.
[28:58] Speaker 1: You know, it's got a Rams feel to it. And
[29:00] Speaker 1: that's where he came from. Brad Holmes came from Los Angeles.
[29:04] Speaker 1: That they just draft really good players. I mean this year,
[29:07] Speaker 1: you're like, do the Rams need another outside linebacker? They
[29:10] Speaker 1: get a Michigan kid and they're like, he's great on tape,
[29:13] Speaker 1: He's passionate, he plays hard. The Rams have, you know,
[29:16] Speaker 1: no head cases Detroit similarly, like good guys like all
[29:21] Speaker 1: the Lions guys like Amaran Saint Brown and Aiden Hutchinson
[29:25] Speaker 1: and Jared Goff and Penay Sewell, no a holes, like
[29:29] Speaker 1: all really really good guys. So there are people in
[29:32] Speaker 1: this league and I think Dan Campbell has benefited from
[29:36] Speaker 1: that a really good GM. But he deserves credit. You know,
[29:40] Speaker 1: I think in the NFL you ask so much of
[29:44] Speaker 1: players physically. This is why Mike Tomlin his strength, Pete
[29:48] Speaker 1: Carroll strength, but Tomlin, Vrabel and Dan Campbell have a physicality.
[29:52] Speaker 1: They look like they could play right today is that
[29:54] Speaker 1: you ask so much of. I mean, if you have
[29:59] Speaker 1: a bad thumb, you take a series off. In baseball,
[30:02] Speaker 1: it's understood. If you have a bad calf, you take
[30:05] Speaker 1: a road trip off in the NBA. It's understood. In
[30:08] Speaker 1: the NFL. You play hurt and the coach is going
[30:10] Speaker 1: to ask you to play hurt. And so when you
[30:13] Speaker 1: ask athletes or men, I don't care if you're a
[30:16] Speaker 1: fire chief or a police chief, you're putting people in
[30:21] Speaker 1: harm's way. There is a certain personality, an alpha personality
[30:27] Speaker 1: that works. You know, you can't ask the fire chief,
[30:30] Speaker 1: can't ask all those guys to run into buildings. They
[30:32] Speaker 1: got to believe. Those firemen have to believe that guy
[30:36] Speaker 1: deeply cares about them as human beings beyond just co workers.
[30:41] Speaker 1: And I think Dan Campbell sells that. I think it's authentic.
[30:44] Speaker 1: I think he loves his players. I think they feel it.
[30:47] Speaker 1: I think mcveigh's got that quality too, and I think
[30:50] Speaker 1: all the hardballs too. They love their players.
[30:53] Speaker 2: And listen, I'm not selling Washington because I think Dan
[30:56] Speaker 2: Quinn has characteristics of that as well. Yeah, and a
[31:00] Speaker 2: tough guy. He's defensive lineman in college, defensive coordinators, tough guy.
[31:03] Speaker 2: But he's like a lovable, tough guy and that's very important,
[31:08] Speaker 2: and I think he is. They're pretty lucky because I
[31:11] Speaker 2: think it's going to be intense for them, But they
[31:13] Speaker 2: have a coach who's been through the ringer, right, He's
[31:15] Speaker 2: a guy that's been fired. He's he had to reinvent
[31:18] Speaker 2: his career obviously. I mean what he did last year
[31:21] Speaker 2: spoke for itself. You know. Dable is a good example
[31:23] Speaker 2: of like a couple of years ago, I'm like, this
[31:24] Speaker 2: is the best coaching job I've ever seen. He won
[31:26] Speaker 2: nine games. I think they've got like three total good players,
[31:29] Speaker 2: but he never been a head coach, and as time
[31:32] Speaker 2: went on, it just kind of, you know, unraveled a
[31:34] Speaker 2: little bit and you don't have as much to lean
[31:35] Speaker 2: on dan Quinn. Once you've been a head coach and
[31:38] Speaker 2: he's been fired, you've kind of seen it all, especially
[31:40] Speaker 2: when you've had success and you've worked for the best
[31:41] Speaker 2: in the business. You know, you talk to anyone with
[31:44] Speaker 2: the Chiefs, there's no taking practices off. I mean, they're
[31:48] Speaker 2: not winning these games late in the season and all
[31:50] Speaker 2: these playoff games close because they have a bunch of
[31:53] Speaker 2: guys that just chill Monday through or Wednesday, Thursday, and
[31:57] Speaker 2: Friday in October November, and then start practicing. You are
[32:01] Speaker 2: obligated to practice. I mean it's a tough environment. No
[32:03] Speaker 2: different with the Ravens, no different now with the Chargers.
[32:05] Speaker 2: With the hardball. Like you said, it is hard. I
[32:08] Speaker 2: mean the NFL, you practice way more than you play,
[32:11] Speaker 2: and these coaches they will push you to the limit
[32:13] Speaker 2: of what they are allowed to use with the pads
[32:15] Speaker 2: they're you know, the the CBA doesn't allow him to
[32:18] Speaker 2: have that many physical practices like they used to, but
[32:20] Speaker 2: the Hardball brothers, obviously Andy, Mike, Tomlin, Carroll Shirley will
[32:24] Speaker 2: push it to the limit when it comes to that.
[32:27] Speaker 2: So I just think the same teams are whinning. We
[32:30] Speaker 2: talk about this all the time, are winning over and over.
[32:31] Speaker 2: I mean, look at the top quarterbacks there on the list.
[32:34] Speaker 2: They also benefit from playing I mean Burrows somewhat of
[32:37] Speaker 2: an outlier, but they all play with really well run
[32:40] Speaker 2: or I mean Baker resurrected his career. You know, if
[32:43] Speaker 2: you would have put Baker in like Arizona the last
[32:46] Speaker 2: couple of years, probably doesn't look but he goes to Tampa,
[32:48] Speaker 2: best GM in the league, or one of them. A
[32:50] Speaker 2: bunch of good players, high level guys, and Boom resurrects
[32:53] Speaker 2: his career. He's matured. And the same with Jared Goff.
[32:57] Speaker 2: Jared Goff just talked about you know, when he was traded,
[32:59] Speaker 2: it really rattled them. A couple of years later, gets
[33:01] Speaker 2: another big extension and now he's you know, I would
[33:04] Speaker 2: say he's going to make five or six Pro Bowls
[33:06] Speaker 2: in his time in the NFC or you knows.
[33:10] Speaker 1: So they're not playing Matt Stafford. Rams apparently dominated the
[33:15] Speaker 1: Cowboys at that practice they had and then they didn't
[33:19] Speaker 1: play Matt Stafford and uh, you know, controlled the Cowboys
[33:24] Speaker 1: when they played in the game. And I have said this,
[33:28] Speaker 1: the Cowboys I think have one of the weaker staffs.
[33:33] Speaker 1: I think the Mica and the Trayvon Diggs noise. These
[33:36] Speaker 1: guys don't. They want new deals. And I mean the
[33:40] Speaker 1: Rams are playing Stetson Bennett like they're not. They're you
[33:43] Speaker 1: know who, by the way, I'm not, I mean like
[33:45] Speaker 1: disappeared came back. I'll throw this up if I said
[33:50] Speaker 1: to you the two bottom teams in the NFL, I
[33:55] Speaker 1: think the Giants are going to be one, mostly because
[33:58] Speaker 1: of their quarterback situation, they're set. I actually like some
[34:00] Speaker 1: of their players. Their schedules brutal. Their schedules absolutely brutal.
[34:05] Speaker 1: They're going to go all and four against probably Washington
[34:08] Speaker 1: and Philadelphia at best. They split with Dallas, but I
[34:11] Speaker 1: think we would both say the Giants with the schedule
[34:13] Speaker 1: in their quarterback situation, it's going to be pretty dire.
[34:16] Speaker 1: We know Cleveland and the Saints could be really bad.
[34:20] Speaker 1: Dallas may not have playoff wins over the last thirty years,
[34:25] Speaker 1: not many of them. Is it possible they are a
[34:29] Speaker 1: three win team? Is it possible?
[34:31] Speaker 2: I think it's very difficult. That Dak plays a lot
[34:33] Speaker 2: of games. If you tell me Dak plays fifteen sixteen games,
[34:37] Speaker 2: even really shitty, they're probably winning fifteen or sixty or
[34:40] Speaker 2: I mean five or six games. One things Jerry's proven
[34:43] Speaker 2: is they have had guys kind of come out of
[34:44] Speaker 2: nowhere over shown they actually draft pretty well. So they
[34:47] Speaker 2: get some guys now that they.
[34:49] Speaker 1: Nail their first round picks usually.
[34:52] Speaker 2: Yeah, and they get some guys in the mid rounds
[34:54] Speaker 2: that just saw some random guy on defense playing safety
[34:56] Speaker 2: that you didn't who's this Deron Bland guy from sax State,
[34:59] Speaker 2: Fresno State, transfer. They've been a pretty good drafting team.
[35:02] Speaker 2: Hard to overcome, you know, a coaching staff if you're right,
[35:05] Speaker 2: they don't have one of the good staffs. I mean,
[35:06] Speaker 2: this guy was not This guy would not have been
[35:08] Speaker 2: a coordinator in the league. Now. Some stuff, you know,
[35:11] Speaker 2: it's it's perception, it's you know, the buzz of your candidacy.
[35:16] Speaker 2: Are you high or you low? That matters in the
[35:18] Speaker 2: NFL or college too. And he was obviously not thought
[35:21] Speaker 2: of like he once was. But that's a fact. He
[35:23] Speaker 2: would not have been a coordinator in the league. You know,
[35:25] Speaker 2: eber Flus people think he's a good defensive coordinator. Well,
[35:27] Speaker 2: they just re hired him because they knew him, you know,
[35:29] Speaker 2: because he was coaching on their staff several years ago.
[35:32] Speaker 2: Kind of a classic Jerry thing, Mike and Parsons, we
[35:35] Speaker 2: have some I mean, Bosa wasn't two years ago, set
[35:38] Speaker 2: out all camp and just wasn't quite the same that season.
[35:40] Speaker 2: You know, even if you're working on your own beside
[35:42] Speaker 2: practice in the weight room with the training staff, it's
[35:45] Speaker 2: not the same as getting the practice rep. So even
[35:47] Speaker 2: if they signed him September first and he plays or
[35:50] Speaker 2: I guess they'd probably need to do a little before
[35:51] Speaker 2: that because they're playing Thursday night football, But the expectation
[35:55] Speaker 2: for him would have to be tempered a little bit.
[35:57] Speaker 2: And they they're depending on a ton of young guys
[36:00] Speaker 2: on the offensive line and that can be very hit
[36:03] Speaker 2: or miss. Yeah, when it hits, it's awesome. We saw
[36:05] Speaker 2: the Chiefs kind of doing that last year too, and
[36:07] Speaker 2: I was like, whoa, you know, well, it can flip
[36:09] Speaker 2: on you quick. So free Fields. I do think they
[36:13] Speaker 2: have an infrastructure of guys that have won, Like even
[36:15] Speaker 2: when Mike had comes back, he's won a lot of games,
[36:17] Speaker 2: Dak Ceedee Lamb, like, they got some solid players. But
[36:20] Speaker 2: I do think it could just be they could be
[36:22] Speaker 2: the last place team in the division if if the
[36:24] Speaker 2: coach is over his head and they're I mean they're
[36:26] Speaker 2: pretty top heavy. I mean, Ceedee Lamb pulls amstream. What
[36:28] Speaker 2: the hell are you gonna do? Ford, Georgia Dickens.
[36:31] Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean I agree with you, and I was
[36:33] Speaker 1: a little over the top. I coaching is at least
[36:38] Speaker 1: thirty to forty percent of this league. It's a big
[36:41] Speaker 1: part because you know the margins is, you know, the
[36:43] Speaker 1: average game is decided by four to six points, and
[36:46] Speaker 1: I mean, Mike McCarthy's a good coach and struggled in
[36:49] Speaker 1: close games. I mean, they always had too many penalties
[36:51] Speaker 1: with Mike McCarthy. They weren't good situationally. Some of that is,
[36:55] Speaker 1: you know, Dak Cooper rush, Dak got banged up. Dak
[36:59] Speaker 1: now and he's never been a great thrower back now
[37:02] Speaker 1: as a pocket quarterback. So my take is the George
[37:06] Speaker 1: Picken acquisition could end up being you know, we all
[37:10] Speaker 1: looked at it and went, oh boy ooh immature. It
[37:14] Speaker 1: may have saved this team because you can't roll your
[37:17] Speaker 1: coverage over out of just cdee lamb. Because George is
[37:19] Speaker 1: such a hard physical matchup, with his coaching, with his
[37:22] Speaker 1: catching radius. My take is there's always an acquisition, and
[37:27] Speaker 1: we look at it was maybe Xavier McKinney for the
[37:30] Speaker 1: Packers or somebody. When they got him, didn't they get
[37:32] Speaker 1: him with the Giants. You look up, You're like, god, damn,
[37:34] Speaker 1: he's a good football player. I think the George Pickens
[37:38] Speaker 1: thing really ends up kind of at least making the
[37:42] Speaker 1: Cowboys a good watch. I mean, I'll watch the I
[37:45] Speaker 1: want to watch Pickens with Zach, I want.
[37:48] Speaker 2: To watch him with brun Shott. Nimers. He listening to him.
[37:50] Speaker 2: He wasn't listening to Mike Tomlin's gonna listen to that guy.
[37:52] Speaker 2: I think one Gruden talked about this, Mike Lombardi talked
[37:56] Speaker 2: about this those latter years of Al Davis, and it
[37:58] Speaker 2: was always probably like this. But when it got really
[38:00] Speaker 2: out of control, players knew that when the coordinator the
[38:03] Speaker 2: head coach got mad at him, they would just circumvent
[38:06] Speaker 2: them and go right to the owner's office because they
[38:08] Speaker 2: knew he was in charge if he wanted to of
[38:11] Speaker 2: the plays of who got cut like he was. He
[38:15] Speaker 2: was very involved in football, and he was making all
[38:17] Speaker 2: the decisions. That is not the case with all these teams. Right,
[38:20] Speaker 2: if you play for the Chiefs, you know who the bosses,
[38:22] Speaker 2: Andy Reid, you know you play for the good teams,
[38:26] Speaker 2: you know the boss, the head coach in the GM,
[38:28] Speaker 2: You're not circumventing them to the owner right when that happens.
[38:31] Speaker 2: Remember when Chip Kelly got fired in Philly, and like
[38:34] Speaker 2: some of the players were talking to Jeffrey Lurry, I
[38:36] Speaker 2: was like, that's never a good sign. You know what
[38:39] Speaker 2: you have it? You don't hear that in Philadelphia? They
[38:41] Speaker 2: know Howie and Sirianne, like, if you got an issue,
[38:45] Speaker 2: you go to them, right. And I think that these players,
[38:48] Speaker 2: especially the last couple of years, because Jerry in the
[38:51] Speaker 2: social media world we live in, he's so out front,
[38:54] Speaker 2: he talks so much. They knew Mike McCarthy, who had
[38:57] Speaker 2: won a super Bowl and won a ton of games, like, oh,
[39:00] Speaker 2: to anybody, you're not the boss, right, We'll go to
[39:03] Speaker 2: Jerry if we have an issue, and then and then
[39:05] Speaker 2: I'll just become a public thing and it becomes a
[39:07] Speaker 2: shit show. I think it's hard to overcome that, and
[39:09] Speaker 2: I think they almost did, because, let's face it, like
[39:12] Speaker 2: Mike kind of knows what he's doing. He has some limitations,
[39:14] Speaker 2: and I you know, he's got exposed a couple times
[39:17] Speaker 2: in the playoffs, but he's a pretty good coach. Went
[39:18] Speaker 2: twelve games three years in a row with with Jerry,
[39:20] Speaker 2: which is not easy to do. Is Brian gonna be
[39:22] Speaker 2: able to handle that? Like? What if a what if
[39:25] Speaker 2: Mike Parsons doesn't like what Eberfluis is telling him. Once
[39:27] Speaker 2: he's finally signed, let's go. I mean he's already been
[39:29] Speaker 2: meet with Jerry. He just go to Jerry's office. Hey, Jerry,
[39:32] Speaker 2: we got this is not can you talk to Ebra
[39:33] Speaker 2: Fluis about running this coverage? Because that was a classic thing.
[39:37] Speaker 2: Now Al was more involved, like truly with the scheme.
[39:40] Speaker 2: But if I was a player and I had if
[39:42] Speaker 2: I thought the coach was an idiot, and I had
[39:45] Speaker 2: an owner like Jerry, I'd go right into his office
[39:46] Speaker 2: or give him a call. Jerry Steven, we this is
[39:49] Speaker 2: not going to work for me. And that is a
[39:51] Speaker 2: media implosion. And that might be if this team really
[39:56] Speaker 2: goes down, that could be something that Dak and his
[39:58] Speaker 2: leadership couldn't even over come. That's where it could really
[40:01] Speaker 2: be a problem. And I do think the gap between
[40:04] Speaker 2: a Mike McCarthy and Brian Schottenheimer could be like at
[40:08] Speaker 2: the forefront, be like, God, there's a gap between those
[40:10] Speaker 2: two guys. And remember last year Mike that got injured
[40:14] Speaker 2: with the hamstring injury, and it was like, oh, they're fucked,
[40:17] Speaker 2: And then as the season went on, you're like, you know,
[40:19] Speaker 2: that's pretty respectable what they did. The way it's just like, yeah,
[40:21] Speaker 2: a well run operation. There's a big gap. And we
[40:25] Speaker 2: talked about this with Jim Harbaugh. They could be a disaster,
[40:27] Speaker 2: but they're still win eight or nine. Games, not two
[40:29] Speaker 2: or three right like they did with that year with
[40:31] Speaker 2: Brandon Staley when they imploded. Well, the difference between eight
[40:35] Speaker 2: and three or four can be a couple of players
[40:38] Speaker 2: just quitting on you in October and then all of
[40:40] Speaker 2: a sudden you kind of like start questioning yourself and
[40:43] Speaker 2: it can implod. So maybe worst case scenario, you get
[40:45] Speaker 2: weird stuff happening in an injury. Players quit on you
[40:48] Speaker 2: and don't believe on in you. It could be a problem,
[40:51] Speaker 2: and that would be Jerry's fault. Jerry's created this. You know,
[40:55] Speaker 2: culture gets thrown around a lot, but the culture in
[40:57] Speaker 2: Dallas is just Jerry. You just kind of do it.
[41:00] Speaker 2: Jerry wants. Jerry's in control. Mike McCarthy plays out his
[41:03] Speaker 2: last season. That was bizarre the way he does. These players,
[41:05] Speaker 2: I mean, they're just kind of run right now really
[41:09] Speaker 2: unlike all the respectable teams. And you know, for three
[41:13] Speaker 2: years with Mike McCarthy, I know, they bombed down in
[41:15] Speaker 2: the playoff. They were respectable twelve games every year, really
[41:18] Speaker 2: good players. But all the other teams they're competing, the Packers,
[41:21] Speaker 2: the Niners, all the teams they are losing to, they
[41:23] Speaker 2: don't operate anything like that with their owner. But it's
[41:27] Speaker 2: not going to stop as long as you know. It
[41:29] Speaker 2: feels like it's getting worse, doesn't it.
[41:31] Speaker 1: Yeah. No, I think going back to your initial comment,
[41:37] Speaker 1: I think they they're starting to feel like Al Davis
[41:41] Speaker 1: the last six or seven years there. It's interesting what
[41:47] Speaker 1: power does to men. I think women tend to age
[41:50] Speaker 1: a little bit more gracefully, but wealthy guys, you know,
[41:53] Speaker 1: it could be Sumner Redstone. Is it Summer Redstone or
[41:57] Speaker 1: Sumner Redstone.
[41:58] Speaker 2: I forget a lot of.
[42:00] Speaker 1: These old guys. They get a little crazy and they
[42:03] Speaker 1: lack self awareness, and most of them are not like
[42:08] Speaker 1: Warren Buffett. It's like, hey, I could still do this
[42:11] Speaker 1: for three or four more years, but you know it's time.
[42:14] Speaker 1: And I think you see this. I mean the NFL,
[42:19] Speaker 1: of all these sports ownership groups, it is a good
[42:22] Speaker 1: old boys club and they wouldn't you know, they wouldn't
[42:26] Speaker 1: even consider bringing in probably a Mark Cuban like the
[42:29] Speaker 1: NBA did. They wouldn't even consider it. And it's just
[42:33] Speaker 1: it's just a place where Jerry and Bob Kraft and
[42:38] Speaker 1: Stan Kronke. There's a handful of owners who are highly
[42:41] Speaker 1: influential and Jerry knows it. But the problem being is,
[42:46] Speaker 1: you know, once you get close to the first number
[42:50] Speaker 1: in your age being eight, it's different. I mean, Vin
[42:54] Speaker 1: Scully was broadcasting, you know, in his seventies. You can
[42:56] Speaker 1: Al michaels is seventy seven. There's a big gap. You
[43:00] Speaker 1: start getting, you start getting seventy nine, eighty eighty one.
[43:03] Speaker 1: Your faculties aren't the same, you know. And it's like,
[43:05] Speaker 1: and Jerry's lived hard, Jerry's lived at big life. Al
[43:10] Speaker 1: Jerry parties today and Al lived a big life, And
[43:14] Speaker 1: so it's not a shot. It's just I think about
[43:17] Speaker 1: this stuff all the time, is that I love to
[43:19] Speaker 1: age gracefully and I probably won't. So I just I
[43:23] Speaker 1: think it's one of those things where it's become the
[43:26] Speaker 1: Lakers a little bit. It's it's new ownership and it
[43:30] Speaker 1: will never happen. Would not be terrible, like the Bus
[43:33] Speaker 1: Family got you know, Kobe's agent, Rob Polinka is the
[43:36] Speaker 1: GM and there's all sorts of friends and family cowboys.
[43:40] Speaker 1: Just they're not the Bears. They're not totally dysfunctional in
[43:43] Speaker 1: ownership with like eleven kids, but they're not. They're closer
[43:47] Speaker 1: to the Bears than they are to.
[43:48] Speaker 2: The rams right now, I agree, they just have more money, right, yeah,
[43:52] Speaker 2: I think you bring up Robert Kraft. Obviously it ended
[43:56] Speaker 2: really poorly with Bill, but for those twenty years became
[44:00] Speaker 2: a star. But Bill got to be the face, you know,
[44:04] Speaker 2: the face of the team, at the forefront of making
[44:07] Speaker 2: the decisions, and he buried the responsibility good or bad,
[44:10] Speaker 2: and he went out right. Robert joined him when it
[44:13] Speaker 2: was good, but if it was bad, Bill took the arrows.
[44:16] Speaker 2: Al Davis even in his prime and Jerry in his
[44:19] Speaker 2: prime could not have gone twenty years with Bill Belichick
[44:22] Speaker 2: getting all the credit of the good times. I mean
[44:24] Speaker 2: they prove that. I mean, I would get rid of
[44:25] Speaker 2: coaches in his prime when they were winning Super Bowls,
[44:28] Speaker 2: and obviously Jerry, I mean had that early on. It
[44:30] Speaker 2: was like Jimmy, you're out, you know. And again that
[44:34] Speaker 2: was when Jerry was sharp as attack. I mean, probably
[44:37] Speaker 2: one of the more impressive business guys. And this is
[44:39] Speaker 2: the mid nineties. So your personality does it only amplify
[44:43] Speaker 2: and get more aggressive the more money you have, Like
[44:46] Speaker 2: you said, now he's in his eighties. I just think
[44:49] Speaker 2: it could get really, really weird because if the team's
[44:52] Speaker 2: not good, he's still calling into that radio show every
[44:56] Speaker 2: Tuesday morning. He's still in the locker room, which doesn't
[44:58] Speaker 2: happen anywhere else. I mean it, Dak and these guys
[45:01] Speaker 2: are so numb to it because it's all they've ever seen.
[45:03] Speaker 2: If you just put like a took some dude from
[45:05] Speaker 2: like the Rams, you know, like a just take like
[45:08] Speaker 2: a Pooka and Nakula or just any other team and
[45:11] Speaker 2: just put them on the Cowboys for like a week
[45:13] Speaker 2: after the game in the locker room and the owner
[45:15] Speaker 2: is over there. Like usually the press goes to the quarterback,
[45:17] Speaker 2: they go to the guy that made the big play.
[45:20] Speaker 2: Jerry walks in that room and he's ready to hold court.
[45:22] Speaker 2: They all go because his quote's gonna make the headlines.
[45:25] Speaker 2: And unlike those guys that might not say anything, you know,
[45:28] Speaker 2: Jerry will Yeah.
[45:37] Speaker 1: So you and I had a long discussion watching the
[45:40] Speaker 1: Jets and the Packers last night over at Tito's and
[45:44] Speaker 1: and we we probably spent an hour just you and
[45:47] Speaker 1: I before my crazy in laws came over. And one
[45:51] Speaker 1: of the things you talked me into is I've said
[45:54] Speaker 1: all off season, I don't know what the heck to
[45:56] Speaker 1: do with the Packers. They won double digit games last
[45:59] Speaker 1: year and Jordan was hurt early and didn't play great late. Okay,
[46:03] Speaker 1: but I was thinking about this when I woke up
[46:06] Speaker 1: and you went to the airport, and I was thinking
[46:08] Speaker 1: about this. I'm like Detroit's coordinators their replacements really worry me.
[46:14] Speaker 1: Chicago's offense in Kleb really worries me. JJ McCarthy, I
[46:19] Speaker 1: don't think there's any question that Viking staff is just
[46:23] Speaker 1: trying to build his confidence up. The whole camp is
[46:26] Speaker 1: about his confidence. I think I'm gonna take even though
[46:29] Speaker 1: the Packers got boat raced by the Jets, I think
[46:33] Speaker 1: I'm gonna end up before we get to JJ McCarthy.
[46:35] Speaker 1: I think I'm gonna take the Packers. They've had a
[46:38] Speaker 1: quiet offseason, and I think that stuff matters. I mean,
[46:41] Speaker 1: you've got Alliance team that will not be as good
[46:43] Speaker 1: because they lost two of the best coordinators, whether Aaron
[46:45] Speaker 1: Glenn and Ben Johnson hit his coaches, they were great coordinators.
[46:49] Speaker 1: You know, Aaron Glenn had a top ten defense. They
[46:52] Speaker 1: had like four starters out. I mean insisting, you know,
[46:55] Speaker 1: in an offensive division, and I just I think you've
[46:59] Speaker 1: talked me into it is And McIntyre has been on
[47:01] Speaker 1: this too quiet good coach Jordan loves healthy. Green Bay
[47:09] Speaker 1: is probably gonna win that division.
[47:12] Speaker 2: You wrote the Lions off after the Hall of Fame game.
[47:15] Speaker 2: I'm out I wouldn't go that far though. The theme
[47:20] Speaker 2: of losing those two guys, I mean the Hall of
[47:22] Speaker 2: Fame game, I get. I mean, they did look bad,
[47:26] Speaker 2: but I do think losing those two guys what Aaron
[47:29] Speaker 2: Glenn brought to the table in terms of emotion, let
[47:32] Speaker 2: alone the scheme. I mean, he was kind of the
[47:34] Speaker 2: heartbeat of that team, and then bend the brains. It's
[47:37] Speaker 2: just how do you replace that? Right? I mean, it's
[47:38] Speaker 2: like any industry, any business, losing two employees at that
[47:42] Speaker 2: high level, Even if you hit on one of the two,
[47:44] Speaker 2: there's gonna be a you know, probably a dramatic drop
[47:47] Speaker 2: off on one of them. And if it's the offense,
[47:49] Speaker 2: that would be a big blow to Detroit because offensively
[47:52] Speaker 2: that's really where they separated. You know, I do think
[47:55] Speaker 2: Minnesota has a better roster. Removed the quarterback, and you
[48:00] Speaker 2: could argue, beside the Eagles in the NFC, no one's
[48:03] Speaker 2: even on their level. You could argue minus the quarterbacks,
[48:05] Speaker 2: they're right there with the Eagles. I mean, they got
[48:07] Speaker 2: a pretty special roster, but I just think there's something
[48:10] Speaker 2: about the Packers. I mean, we're talking about it. I
[48:13] Speaker 2: didn't even quite realize. You know, you live by the
[48:16] Speaker 2: lake and then you kind of pull the map and
[48:18] Speaker 2: you see the Green Bays not really that far, and
[48:20] Speaker 2: then I realized, I get why the Bears are so
[48:23] Speaker 2: jealous of the Packers. You got the big one of
[48:25] Speaker 2: the great cities in the world, and you got this
[48:27] Speaker 2: little town up the road. But they've been kicking the Bears.
[48:30] Speaker 1: Ass for thirty years.
[48:32] Speaker 2: And now they're on their third quarterback. It's one thing,
[48:34] Speaker 2: it's like, okay, farm, I get it, we'll tip our
[48:36] Speaker 2: hat to you. Then you get Rogers, like we're really
[48:38] Speaker 2: gonna take this for fifteen years. And now you get
[48:40] Speaker 2: Jordan Love who he had a couple throws yesterday. His
[48:43] Speaker 2: talent is immense, James there. Their offensive line is always good,
[48:47] Speaker 2: they're high on this young quarterback. Their defense is now good.
[48:50] Speaker 2: They're just that program that they're never going to be sexy,
[48:53] Speaker 2: like you know, like they're Ohio State football or you
[48:57] Speaker 2: know what Andy Reid was early with Mahomes and that
[49:00] Speaker 2: we don't talk about them like that post Rogers. But
[49:03] Speaker 2: last year they won eleven games and they won one
[49:05] Speaker 2: in the Division one one and their quarterback got hurt
[49:08] Speaker 2: week one, which had to throw them off a little bit,
[49:10] Speaker 2: even though they won the next couple weeks with Malik Willis,
[49:13] Speaker 2: which to me shows their coach is pretty good. You know,
[49:16] Speaker 2: their coach is pretty he's unlike Kevin O'Connell, like he's
[49:18] Speaker 2: won some playoff games. So I won the gambling values there.
[49:22] Speaker 2: I mean, you're getting them like two and a half
[49:24] Speaker 2: to one to win the division. Google how many times
[49:26] Speaker 2: they've won the division the last thirty years. A lot.
[49:29] Speaker 2: They just do it a lot. I do think there's
[49:30] Speaker 2: some internal pressure now that they got that Murphy guy.
[49:33] Speaker 2: Their president who kind of works as the owner is
[49:36] Speaker 2: now Carmen Policy's son, Ed's in charge. So I mean
[49:39] Speaker 2: this is a very like there's some of the line
[49:41] Speaker 2: for Goodikins and Lafleur in a weird way because they
[49:45] Speaker 2: have a new boss. I just think they're flying under
[49:48] Speaker 2: the radar.
[49:49] Speaker 1: You know, and there's a lot of different ways to win.
[49:51] Speaker 1: In Philadelphia. We don't think they have the best head coach,
[49:54] Speaker 1: but they have the best roster. In Los Angeles, we
[49:57] Speaker 1: don't think they have the best roster, but we love
[49:59] Speaker 1: the quarterback in the coach. You know, green Bay, it's continuity.
[50:03] Speaker 1: The division's got all sorts of turmoil, losing coordinators, Chicago
[50:08] Speaker 1: can't get the quarterback, right, is JJ McCarthy right? It
[50:12] Speaker 1: just continuity is it's I don't even know the comp IBM.
[50:15] Speaker 1: Like Microsoft, Microsoft's been great. It missed on the phone.
[50:20] Speaker 1: There have been moments, but you look up and you're like, yeah, Ai,
[50:23] Speaker 1: Microsoft's good. Green Bay has been really ahead of the
[50:27] Speaker 1: curve on quarterbacks. They draft them early. They never draft
[50:32] Speaker 1: offensive lineman in the first round. I couldn't tell you
[50:34] Speaker 1: the best offensive line. And you and I talked about
[50:37] Speaker 1: this these There was a book written years ago called
[50:39] Speaker 1: maybe thirty years ago, called The Millionaire next Door, and
[50:42] Speaker 1: it was about how many people live next door to you.
[50:45] Speaker 1: They pay off their home, they have a four to
[50:46] Speaker 1: oh one K, They live under their means, and they're
[50:48] Speaker 1: millionaires and they don't have huge salaries. And that really
[50:53] Speaker 1: is the Packers. They're missing a barstool leg, right. They
[50:56] Speaker 1: don't have that free agent leg. Whereas a Philadelphia, Miami,
[51:01] Speaker 1: A certain places there are people want to go play
[51:04] Speaker 1: in La Devonte Adams didn't take didn't have to arm
[51:06] Speaker 1: wrestle them to get them to Sean McVay and Stafford
[51:09] Speaker 1: in the rams, right, like Green Bay didn't have that.
[51:11] Speaker 1: So they have to draft and develop, like the school
[51:14] Speaker 1: teachers have to be smart with their money to become
[51:17] Speaker 1: millionaires in Green Bay when you're forced. I don't think
[51:21] Speaker 1: it's a coincidence that both New York teams are a
[51:23] Speaker 1: bit of a mess. Why because they have great game
[51:26] Speaker 1: day revenue, they got great local radio, TV advertising revenue,
[51:31] Speaker 1: and they take big swings and they don't do their homework.
[51:34] Speaker 1: Green Bay does their homework. And I just I look
[51:37] Speaker 1: at this organization and their continuity, their intelligence, their development.
[51:41] Speaker 1: They almost develop like a really good college program.
[51:45] Speaker 2: They need to develop in my comp You know a
[51:47] Speaker 2: lot of times in college football, the underling goes and
[51:50] Speaker 2: as a coach somewhere else, right like Sark's not at Alabama, right,
[51:54] Speaker 2: Lane Lane Kiffin's not at Alabama. Typically these guys go off.
[51:57] Speaker 2: I mean, honestly, when they tried to replace p Carroll
[51:59] Speaker 2: didn't go well. But in basketball, think about when Roy
[52:02] Speaker 2: Williams replaced Steen Smith finally because he just knew what
[52:06] Speaker 2: worked in that program, or John Schier now with coach
[52:09] Speaker 2: k like, there is a blueprint in that program that
[52:11] Speaker 2: they know works. Gutikins was taught from Ted Thompson, who
[52:15] Speaker 2: was taught from run Wolf Like there is a consistent
[52:18] Speaker 2: theme in that organization that has never changed, which is
[52:22] Speaker 2: pretty rare when you have turnover like the Eagles. How
[52:25] Speaker 2: he's been there for decades, right, so it's him. But
[52:29] Speaker 2: when you look at like the Ravens, they went from
[52:31] Speaker 2: Ozzie to DaCosta, so they have thought the you know,
[52:34] Speaker 2: a very similar path. You'd even go from Kevin Colbert
[52:39] Speaker 2: to Omar Kahan now with the Steelers, like he's he
[52:42] Speaker 2: was taught under that. It's pretty rare because a lot
[52:44] Speaker 2: of times you fire someone, you bring in the best
[52:47] Speaker 2: teams executive, right, That is not what is happening with
[52:50] Speaker 2: the Backers for decades, So there is connections. Like Gutikins
[52:54] Speaker 2: can tell stories that Ron Wolfe told Ted Thompson about
[52:57] Speaker 2: what they did in nineteen ninety four with Reggie White
[53:00] Speaker 2: at Forever trading for this guy or cutting this guy,
[53:03] Speaker 2: and that is pretty rare. Like John Lynch can't tell
[53:05] Speaker 2: stories of stuff that happened with Bill Walsh like the
[53:09] Speaker 2: personnel moves in nineteen eighty nine were less sneed with
[53:12] Speaker 2: Mike Martz and Dick for Meal back in nineteen ninety nine.
[53:15] Speaker 2: It's just that's pretty rare, and I think that's the
[53:19] Speaker 2: only reason that this little town a couple hours above
[53:22] Speaker 2: you sitting right now, dominates these big cities. The volume
