[0:01] Speaker 1: The volume. What is going on, everybody? How are we doing?
[0:18] Speaker 1: John Middlecoff three and Now podcast. It's a late one,
[0:21] Speaker 1: It's like eleven thirty on Monday night, but that's what
[0:23] Speaker 1: we do. We work because we had a double header
[0:25] Speaker 1: for Monday night football. So we're gonna dive into Seattle
[0:28] Speaker 1: and Houston Rough offensive performance in the second half. Those
[0:33] Speaker 1: two defenses are sweet though, and then Jared Goff, Jamiir Gibbs,
[0:38] Speaker 1: Dan Campbell and the Lions five and two. The Bucks
[0:41] Speaker 1: are five and two, but Mike Evans breaks his collar bones.
[0:44] Speaker 1: We'll dive into that. Some other league news. We had
[0:48] Speaker 1: something happened with Dre Greenlaw. After that, Denver bronco win,
[0:51] Speaker 1: Brandon Graham is he about to return? And then a
[0:54] Speaker 1: stat I saw with Jackson Dart as well as a
[0:57] Speaker 1: mailbag at Middlecoff is the Instagram fire in those dms?
[1:03] Speaker 1: Get your questions answered here on the show Big mail

[1:19] Speaker 1: Monday night doubleheader. You know I gotta tell you all
[1:21] Speaker 1: my friends, you know, I gotta tell you about my partners.
[1:23] Speaker 1: The official ticketing app of this podcast. Do you want
[1:26] Speaker 1: to go to one of these games? There had to
[1:27] Speaker 1: be people in that Seattle crowd and the place had
[1:30] Speaker 1: to be rocking, thinking like, I'm gonna go to a
[1:32] Speaker 1: World Series game. We're gonna play the Dodgers in the
[1:35] Speaker 1: world so that they're up three to one. Then all
[1:37] Speaker 1: of a sudden, I get a group text. I'm like,
[1:38] Speaker 1: check out the score. Because I wasn't even watching the game,
[1:40] Speaker 1: I assume Seattle was gonna win. Springer hits the home
[1:43] Speaker 1: run the Blue Jays, you know, a little throwback to
[1:46] Speaker 1: Joe Carter when I was a kid. Blue Jays Dodgers.
[1:48] Speaker 1: I don't think that was the World Series, But Dodger
[1:50] Speaker 1: you're gonna smoke them. But if you want to go
[1:51] Speaker 1: to one of these games college football, watching some of
[1:54] Speaker 1: these SEC Big ten environments. You live down in southern California,
[1:57] Speaker 1: and you want to watch my guy, Tim Skipper resurrecting
[2:00] Speaker 1: the UCLA Bruins the NBA. I actually think I'm recording this.
[2:05] Speaker 1: If you live on the East Coast, it's opening night
[2:08] Speaker 1: NBA games, college basketball is right around the corner if
[2:11] Speaker 1: it hasn't already started yet. So Warren full swing take

[2:29] Speaker 1: app today last minute Ticket's lowest prices guarantee. Being an
[2:33] Speaker 1: offensive coordinator is obviously hard. It is not easy all
[2:37] Speaker 1: of us, whether you've worked in the NFL, whether you
[2:41] Speaker 1: sell insurance, whether you just gamble a lot on football.
[2:44] Speaker 1: We all can be very critical on our couch, powering
[2:48] Speaker 1: down a gatorade and some popcorn. I'm no different than
[2:52] Speaker 1: any of you. We all scream ubscenities constantly when guys
[2:56] Speaker 1: call bad plays. But the second half of that game,
[3:00] Speaker 1: the Texans against Seattle is an all time head scratcher,
[3:03] Speaker 1: and I'm gonna start with the winning team. Kubiak comes
[3:07] Speaker 1: from a family, that is all. When you say the
[3:10] Speaker 1: Kubiaks the Shanahans, all you think is running the ball,
[3:13] Speaker 1: run the ball, run the ball, run the ball, and
[3:15] Speaker 1: then pass it off. That and tonight it felt like
[3:19] Speaker 1: he was hell bent on proving Sam Darnold is like
[3:23] Speaker 1: an MVP candidate, even up double digit points in the
[3:27] Speaker 1: second half against I don't know if they're the best
[3:30] Speaker 1: defense we can determine based on different metrics. They are
[3:33] Speaker 1: easily one of the most talented defenses in the NFL,
[3:36] Speaker 1: and their two strengths are rushing the passer and dB play.
[3:40] Speaker 1: Derek Stingley is like a Deon Sanders Durell Reeves level athlete.
[3:44] Speaker 1: You're up big and you keep throwing the ball. It
[3:48] Speaker 1: makes no sense. You got two good running backs. The
[3:50] Speaker 1: only way and this goes back to the De Marcado
[3:54] Speaker 1: play when the Titans came back. This goes back yesterday
[3:57] Speaker 1: when the Giants imploded with Denver. The only way. Game
[4:00] Speaker 1: like that, whether you have a big lead or you're
[4:02] Speaker 1: playing an offense that's inept, they can come back, especially
[4:06] Speaker 1: if there's twenty plus minutes on the clock left in
[4:09] Speaker 1: the game. You have to give them a free possession.
[4:12] Speaker 1: And Kubiak's calling these pass plays. I'd even go back
[4:15] Speaker 1: to the touchdown that you know almost was a safety,
[4:19] Speaker 1: but then they fell on it, so it was a touchdown.
[4:21] Speaker 1: It's like you are asking Sam Darnold to throw backed
[4:24] Speaker 1: up in his own end zone. You could blame Sam,
[4:27] Speaker 1: he's doing like a three sixty in the end zone.
[4:28] Speaker 1: You can't turn your back in that moment. But what
[4:31] Speaker 1: are you doing? Why are we out thinking the room here?
[4:34] Speaker 1: Just run the ball. Honestly, the two offensive coordinators tonight
[4:37] Speaker 1: were the polar opposites. One guy, run the ball, run
[4:41] Speaker 1: the ball, run the ball again, and run the ball again.
[4:44] Speaker 1: And I thought, all night, Kubiak, and maybe it's Monday
[4:47] Speaker 1: night football, you're trying to prove you're a star offensive coordinator.
[4:52] Speaker 1: I don't know him personally. I know a lot of
[4:54] Speaker 1: people that know him. They think really highly of him. Clearly,
[4:56] Speaker 1: I think he's pretty talented. But I thought tonight he
[4:58] Speaker 1: got really cute. You go to the first half, they
[5:01] Speaker 1: are kicking the shit out of the Texans. Two touchdowns immediately,
[5:05] Speaker 1: fourteen nothing. They're driving again. It's like you go up
[5:08] Speaker 1: twenty one to nothing against that offense. The game is
[5:11] Speaker 1: over and they are driving right down the field that
[5:14] Speaker 1: they do not need to call trick plays. There is
[5:16] Speaker 1: no trickeration needed. And he calls a double pass or
[5:19] Speaker 1: a wide receiver pass, and Cooper cup throws an interception
[5:24] Speaker 1: and I thought it just bled right into the second
[5:26] Speaker 1: half of that should have been a game that his
[5:29] Speaker 1: dad or the Shanahan family. That's a forty carry game.
[5:33] Speaker 1: And I looked up until the last possession they had
[5:36] Speaker 1: under thirty carries. It's like, it shouldn't have been a
[5:39] Speaker 1: one to one ratio of passes in rush attempts. It
[5:43] Speaker 1: should have been heavily as you got control and your
[5:45] Speaker 1: defense is dominating. It's like, you know, it's very in
[5:50] Speaker 1: vogue to go for it in the NFL all the time.
[5:53] Speaker 1: And listen, I admired Dan Campbell. That's his style. He
[5:57] Speaker 1: never waivers from it. He's pedaled to the medal one
[6:01] Speaker 1: percent down. They're going for it one percent of the time.
[6:04] Speaker 1: Even sometimes you're like Dan, I've probably just kicked the
[6:06] Speaker 1: field goal here, He's like, fuck it, go for it.
[6:08] Speaker 1: And it's like this is part of the deal. And
[6:10] Speaker 1: in fairness to him, he's been consistent with it for years.
[6:14] Speaker 1: Mike McDonald, they mentioned this on the broadcast, Ain't ain't
[6:17] Speaker 1: with that? Well, what is Mike? He's a defensive coach
[6:19] Speaker 1: and what is Mike Half a fantastic defense also who's
[6:23] Speaker 1: he playing? Kind of an inept offense? Why would you
[6:26] Speaker 1: be overly aggressive on fourth down? Punt, kick, field goals,
[6:30] Speaker 1: play defense. Try to score on me. Bet you can't.
[6:33] Speaker 1: But the easiest way they can get back is turning
[6:35] Speaker 1: the ball over. And I can imagine a night Mike
[6:37] Speaker 1: McDonald's like God, I almost called him Garry is a Clint.
[6:44] Speaker 1: The kubiak Son was just I thought he was bad
[6:48] Speaker 1: in the second I thought it kept getting worse, and
[6:51] Speaker 1: I get it early on. Uh, you know, Jackson Smith
[6:55] Speaker 1: and Sam Darnold have like a Montana Rice connection. Right now,
[6:58] Speaker 1: I saw a stat that Jackson Smith and Jigba has
[7:03] Speaker 1: five games of over one hundred yards, which is tied
[7:07] Speaker 1: for second most in franchise history. If he has one
[7:10] Speaker 1: more game, that'll tie the record with Steve Large at
[7:13] Speaker 1: nineteen seventy nine. Now, I would say the history of
[7:15] Speaker 1: Seattle teams don't exactly have the Randy Mosses and Jerry
[7:19] Speaker 1: Rice's and Terrell Owens playing for him. But still like,
[7:22] Speaker 1: this guy is going to break a lot of records
[7:25] Speaker 1: for this franchise. He looks like a dominant force. But
[7:29] Speaker 1: it felt as the game was going like you don't
[7:31] Speaker 1: need to force feed this. It worked, you got your yardage,
[7:34] Speaker 1: you got your points. Now let's just sit on it
[7:36] Speaker 1: and let's bleed him dry and on the flip side, like, listen,
[7:40] Speaker 1: I'm not off Kubiak. I think he is a talented
[7:43] Speaker 1: offensive coordinator. But I think tonight's one of those where
[7:46] Speaker 1: if you want to and they were a team that
[7:48] Speaker 1: I sprinkle a little to win the division at five
[7:50] Speaker 1: to one, and they clearly have the defensive talent. Their
[7:53] Speaker 1: quarterback's pretty good, their skill guys, I mean that their
[7:56] Speaker 1: running backs are really good. Horton to go with Jackson Smith,
[7:59] Speaker 1: Like they got skills, and their coaching staff's excellent. They're
[8:01] Speaker 1: head coach. If Mike was an offensive coordinator Mike McDonald
[8:06] Speaker 1: instead of a defensive coordinator. I've been saying this for
[8:10] Speaker 1: a couple of years now. We would talk about him
[8:12] Speaker 1: like the media circle jerks Kevin O'Connell, like that's how
[8:15] Speaker 1: and that's not a shot at Kevin O'Connell. I mean
[8:17] Speaker 1: he's earned it, like he's a really good coach. But
[8:19] Speaker 1: offensive guys get put on a pedestal. I mean, look
[8:22] Speaker 1: at Sean, look at Kyle, look at Lafleur. I mean
[8:24] Speaker 1: Kevin O'Connell. You know, it's just look at the two
[8:27] Speaker 1: old famous guys, Andy and Sean Payton. They're held to
[8:29] Speaker 1: a higher standard than defensive guys. They just are. And
[8:32] Speaker 1: because Mike's like this younger guy, but he's a dominant
[8:35] Speaker 1: defensive coordinator. There were stretches a night where he's calling
[8:38] Speaker 1: blitzes and bringing pressures. In fairness to CJ, I don't
[8:43] Speaker 1: know if like Tom Brady or Peyton Manning would have
[8:45] Speaker 1: understood where these pressures are coming from. He is elite
[8:48] Speaker 1: at his job. So to me, if Kubiak in those
[8:51] Speaker 1: type moments can get a little more conservative like Pops
[8:55] Speaker 1: and play to his head coach's strength, I mean that team,
[8:57] Speaker 1: the ceiling's pretty high. I mean the speed in which
[9:01] Speaker 1: they have on defense. Obviously we know how good their
[9:03] Speaker 1: home field advantages. Even though somehow the Niners won their
[9:06] Speaker 1: Week one and clearly the NFC West now, I mean
[9:10] Speaker 1: it's a three horse race. Now, I don't know if
[9:12] Speaker 1: the forty nine ers can continue this. They're missing so
[9:15] Speaker 1: many bodies. But all three teams are five and two.
[9:18] Speaker 1: The coaching is elite, the culture is elite. It's you
[9:21] Speaker 1: play those teams, you better buckle your chin strap. Now
[9:24] Speaker 1: the Texans same thing, Demiko from Kyle uh Kubiak guy badass.
[9:29] Speaker 1: Look at their defense. The Texans defense is top notch.
[9:33] Speaker 1: I mean, Will Anderson is a certified ass kicker. Their
[9:37] Speaker 1: defense is excellent. Their offense, though, is a tough watch.
[9:41] Speaker 1: And we've talked about this with some of these coordinators
[9:43] Speaker 1: that we don't know that well and we start seeing
[9:45] Speaker 1: them call players like something's off. Certain people are just
[9:47] Speaker 1: not good at their job, right because some people are
[9:51] Speaker 1: just lazy. They don't try, they don't care most times
[9:56] Speaker 1: in football, like in that world in coach, it's not
[10:00] Speaker 1: because guys aren't trying. It's not because guys don't study.
[10:04] Speaker 1: It's not because guys. Honestly, if you just gave him
[10:06] Speaker 1: a pen and got to the whiteboard. I bet the
[10:08] Speaker 1: Texans offensive coordinator Nick Hayley, who was with Sean mcvagh
[10:12] Speaker 1: for a couple of years, but really as a Patriot guy,
[10:15] Speaker 1: would be really impressive. I bet he really knows ball.
[10:18] Speaker 1: But when it comes to these games, you're watching it
[10:22] Speaker 1: and you're going, what are you doing now? In fairness,
[10:26] Speaker 1: his offense has some limitations. Their personnel on offense, the
[10:29] Speaker 1: offensive line is not great. I mean they're playing their
[10:33] Speaker 1: offensive their running backs, you know, major question mark because
[10:37] Speaker 1: of some injuries. Right, Nico Collins gets hurt in the game. Listen,
[10:41] Speaker 1: he's not playing with a full deck. But there were
[10:43] Speaker 1: stretches to night. There was a third and fourth down
[10:46] Speaker 1: stretch early in the second half where he called two
[10:50] Speaker 1: basically like outside off tackle runs that got absolutely destroyed.
[10:56] Speaker 1: It's one thing, listen, you want to call it one
[10:58] Speaker 1: time on third down, I'm not gonna fault you, But
[11:00] Speaker 1: then to basically just call the same exact play again
[11:03] Speaker 1: and get the same result. It was insanity. And he
[11:06] Speaker 1: did it again late in the game on the goal line.
[11:09] Speaker 1: Luckily one of their guys like false started, so they
[11:13] Speaker 1: got a free play. It was absolutely housed because at
[11:17] Speaker 1: the point of attack, their offensive line is getting worked
[11:22] Speaker 1: by a fantastic front, Seattle's front, led by Leonard Williams All.
[11:27] Speaker 1: I mean, all their dbs are physical. Their linebackers are
[11:30] Speaker 1: flying downhill and just triggering on the A and B
[11:33] Speaker 1: gap and just come in to crack skulls. It's like,
[11:36] Speaker 1: this is not gonna work now. And if you're not
[11:39] Speaker 1: comfortable calling a quarterback sneak, which Orlowsky wanted him to call.
[11:43] Speaker 1: Orlosky's like, dude, the Drew brees and leap over. It's like, well,
[11:47] Speaker 1: I cg comfortable doing that. I get it in theory
[11:50] Speaker 1: it makes a lot of sense. But if he's not
[11:52] Speaker 1: comfortable doing it, you can't do it. But you cannot
[11:54] Speaker 1: call these runs between the tackles in these short yard
[11:57] Speaker 1: of situations. My mother, who's probably a sleep could tell
[12:01] Speaker 1: you this is not gonna work. And he just kept
[12:04] Speaker 1: calling him. It was baffling. Now you go, what are
[12:07] Speaker 1: you supposed to call? I don't know, but you cannot
[12:09] Speaker 1: call that. I understand you have limitations. You might as
[12:12] Speaker 1: well just hand the ball and say this is not
[12:14] Speaker 1: gonna work. So here, take the ball, and you guys
[12:16] Speaker 1: bring your offense on the field. And we've seen this
[12:19] Speaker 1: now around like they made a change in offensive coordinator
[12:22] Speaker 1: because Bobby slowk was a disaster, and it looks the
[12:24] Speaker 1: exact same. You could argue it looks even worse. And
[12:28] Speaker 1: it's concerning because you know, I think what you feel
[12:31] Speaker 1: pretty good about if you're John Schneider is you paid
[12:34] Speaker 1: a lot of money, right, you won the move, You
[12:37] Speaker 1: got rid of Gino, and you got Sam Donald. That
[12:39] Speaker 1: is a massive upgrade, right, But then once you give
[12:42] Speaker 1: Sam Donald the money, you're like, Okay, are you gonna
[12:44] Speaker 1: play at a high level? And you're watching You're like,
[12:46] Speaker 1: this is a Pro Bowl level guy. So you feel
[12:48] Speaker 1: really good about that. You got this guy under contract
[12:51] Speaker 1: who is going to be in the mix as long
[12:53] Speaker 1: as he stays healthy for the next couple of years
[12:55] Speaker 1: in our scheme to be a Pro Bowl player. You
[12:58] Speaker 1: watch CJ Stroud, who how could you not have really
[13:01] Speaker 1: loved him as a rookie? You go, we got this
[13:03] Speaker 1: shooting star, we got this rocket ship. And now for
[13:07] Speaker 1: last year and however many games this year, six or seven,
[13:10] Speaker 1: You're going, what are we supposed to do? Well, I
[13:12] Speaker 1: know what we're not doing based on what we're seeing,
[13:15] Speaker 1: and I'm not blaming it all on him, but I've
[13:18] Speaker 1: seen it happen in other organ We're not paying you
[13:20] Speaker 1: after this year, so I don't want to hear from
[13:22] Speaker 1: your agent expecting two hundred million dollars because that's an
[13:24] Speaker 1: immediate hang up. Now I'm not say we're giving up
[13:27] Speaker 1: on you, but this thing has just gone. And listen,
[13:30] Speaker 1: CJ is still pretty talented and he can He made
[13:33] Speaker 1: a great play late in the game, keeping a play alive,
[13:36] Speaker 1: and he definitely has the physical characteristics. But you watch
[13:39] Speaker 1: on certain plays, which again I do think you start
[13:42] Speaker 1: losing your confidence as a young quarterback, which how would
[13:46] Speaker 1: you not when you're constantly getting fucking hit. If you
[13:50] Speaker 1: get hit over and over, you can't even think straight.
[13:53] Speaker 1: And I think that he's just getting peppered so many
[13:55] Speaker 1: times last year and a half, it's hard to even
[13:57] Speaker 1: judge him. But now you're in this situation to be like, well,
[14:00] Speaker 1: is this actually our guy? He clearly is not going
[14:03] Speaker 1: anywhere next year, But it's just one of those questions
[14:06] Speaker 1: now that's out there of like, we're not making the playoffs.
[14:09] Speaker 1: We're two and four. We don't have the offense to
[14:11] Speaker 1: rattle off a bunch of wins, and our defense couldn't
[14:14] Speaker 1: be much better. I mean, it's a dominant defense. It's
[14:17] Speaker 1: a lead. It's like a championship. If you gave a
[14:20] Speaker 1: good offense to that defense, you'd be like, they're a
[14:22] Speaker 1: Super Bowl contenders. Why I listen, I'm wrong, I am.
[14:26] Speaker 1: Sometimes you go on heaters and sometimes you just go
[14:28] Speaker 1: on cold streaks, And that's what I'm on. From a
[14:30] Speaker 1: gambling perspective, I'm just giving money away, and I had
[14:34] Speaker 1: a couple of parlays and I set it to start
[14:36] Speaker 1: the season. I anchored it to the Texans win in
[14:40] Speaker 1: the South. That ain't gonna work because they're not winning
[14:44] Speaker 1: the South the culture winning that with ease. But a
[14:46] Speaker 1: huge reason that they're in this conundrum is their offense
[14:49] Speaker 1: is atrocious. The personnel with their offensive line is just
[14:52] Speaker 1: not good. And obviously when Nico goes out and they
[14:55] Speaker 1: lose Tank last year to a major injury, that their
[14:58] Speaker 1: skill position is just not exploded enough. I mean, you
[15:01] Speaker 1: watch the previous game, the one that kicked off earlier,
[15:04] Speaker 1: It's like there's way more explosive players in the Tampa
[15:06] Speaker 1: Detroit game. That's what the offensive skill guys are supposed
[15:09] Speaker 1: to look like. And you just wonder, like, there's gonna
[15:12] Speaker 1: be an off season you're gonna fire your offensive coordinator again.
[15:15] Speaker 1: You know, Mike McDaniel is a guy that Demiico worked
[15:18] Speaker 1: with in San Francisco for years. Would feel like that
[15:21] Speaker 1: would make a lot of sense. But Nick Cassario, who
[15:23] Speaker 1: is you know, kind of the boss. I mean, a
[15:26] Speaker 1: big reason they bring in this dude from you know
[15:28] Speaker 1: that used to work in New England that there's some
[15:31] Speaker 1: cohesion there that they know each other. So how much
[15:34] Speaker 1: use does Demico have. It's just everything's just a little
[15:37] Speaker 1: off kilter right now, and it's it all falls on
[15:39] Speaker 1: the offense. Like the defense ain't the problem. Derek Stingley,
[15:43] Speaker 1: Will Anderson are not the issues now. I'm not saying CJ.
[15:46] Speaker 1: Stroud is the issue, but he's part of the package
[15:49] Speaker 1: with the offensive coordinator, with the personnel people, with the scheme.
[15:53] Speaker 1: It's a nightmare. And that that game, how it was
[15:58] Speaker 1: as close as it was, I don't know, probably the
[16:01] Speaker 1: turnovers right what four to one and multiple turnovers in
[16:05] Speaker 1: the second half by Seattle. But like I think you
[16:09] Speaker 1: play that game ten times, especially in Seattle. I think
[16:12] Speaker 1: Seattle wins it nine times. I think it would take
[16:16] Speaker 1: a miracle. You know, it takes four or five turnovers
[16:19] Speaker 1: for Houston to win that game. I think that's an
[16:21] Speaker 1: awful mismatch because if you have a good defense, Seattle
[16:25] Speaker 1: or Houston's gonna be in a lot of trouble. And
[16:27] Speaker 1: in fairness to Houston, they got kind of screwed because
[16:33] Speaker 1: I don't get on you know, when the schedule comes out,
[16:35] Speaker 1: I don't make that big a deal with it, But
[16:38] Speaker 1: once you're in the season, you kind of feel a
[16:39] Speaker 1: flow to this to make a team that is. I've
[16:43] Speaker 1: never flown from Seattle to Houston, but I googled it tonight.
[16:46] Speaker 1: It's a four hour flight, so by the time that
[16:49] Speaker 1: they will get on the charter and probably take off,
[16:51] Speaker 1: it'll be close to my guests would be twelve thirty
[16:54] Speaker 1: to one am Pacific standard time. Well, it takes four
[16:58] Speaker 1: plus hours to get from Seattle to Houston, and there's
[17:01] Speaker 1: a two hour time change because I'm pretty sure Houston
[17:04] Speaker 1: Central time zone. So you're talking about them landing at
[17:07] Speaker 1: seven am on Tuesday morning. Well, they play the forty
[17:11] Speaker 1: nine ers on Sunday. So the forty nine ers, who
[17:14] Speaker 1: had a night game the previous night, were at home.
[17:17] Speaker 1: They've slept, they had a normal work day to day,
[17:20] Speaker 1: and the Texans coaches are gonna be absolutely fried by
[17:23] Speaker 1: the time they land. They're gonna have to go right
[17:25] Speaker 1: to work. So the scheduling gods did not throw the
[17:30] Speaker 1: Texans a bone making them play this double Listen Monday
[17:34] Speaker 1: night football. Sometimes you get home late, it's part of
[17:37] Speaker 1: the deal. Typically the game they would be in the
[17:41] Speaker 1: air right now right, But because of this doubleheader, you
[17:44] Speaker 1: don't even kick off till a little after seven pm
[17:49] Speaker 1: Pacific Standard time. I can't even speak, it's so late.
[17:53] Speaker 1: But they did get royally screwed on that so big
[17:56] Speaker 1: win by Seattle, and I think Seattle, I think they're
[18:00] Speaker 1: pretty good. I really do. It comes to the offensive
[18:02] Speaker 1: coordinator just being a little more conservative and just relying
[18:06] Speaker 1: on the run game that they're gonna be. They're gonna
[18:09] Speaker 1: be a tough out because defensively, in that scheme and
[18:12] Speaker 1: that coaching, it's it's pretty impressive. Today's show is brought

[19:37] Speaker 1: call one one hundred gambler Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, New Jersey, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia.
[19:50] Speaker 1: Speaking of the first game, I've never been that bothered
[19:54] Speaker 1: by the transfer portal, and I think a lot of
[19:57] Speaker 1: the way that we discuss. It is based on college
[19:59] Speaker 1: for football, right players and coaches and people bitching and
[20:04] Speaker 1: people complaining or people celebrating it, or however, from a
[20:08] Speaker 1: college lens, I want to look at the transfer portal
[20:11] Speaker 1: from an NFL lens and from an NFL GM and
[20:15] Speaker 1: coaching perspective. I actually think it's the best thing that's
[20:19] Speaker 1: ever happened in the scouting community, and I think it's
[20:22] Speaker 1: really benefited a lot of players. And Jamier Gibbs, who
[20:26] Speaker 1: was by far the best player in the Tampa Lions game,
[20:32] Speaker 1: directly benefited from the transfer portal because he went to
[20:35] Speaker 1: Georgia Tech his first two years and he was good.
[20:38] Speaker 1: But then the transfer portal existed and he transferred to
[20:41] Speaker 1: Alabama and he had multiple huge games in the SEC,
[20:45] Speaker 1: and he ended up getting drafted twelfth overall by the
[20:49] Speaker 1: Detroit Lions. And let's remember when they drafted him, a
[20:52] Speaker 1: lot of people thought they were crazy. And if you
[20:54] Speaker 1: just look at his stats, it's not like he was
[20:57] Speaker 1: rushing for fifteen hundred yards a year at Georgia Tech,
[21:00] Speaker 1: and even as you're at Alabama, I don't even think
[21:02] Speaker 1: he ran for a thousand yards. Now he could catch
[21:06] Speaker 1: the ball so he was a virgatile player, but like
[21:08] Speaker 1: it was much more of a projection. But think how
[21:12] Speaker 1: much easier it was to project a player at Alabama
[21:17] Speaker 1: than it was at Georgia Tech. And this isn't Brent
[21:19] Speaker 1: Key Georgia Tech. This is like twenty nineteen twenty Georgia Tech.
[21:23] Speaker 1: So this is a team that I promise you this
[21:25] Speaker 1: if the transfer portal hadn't existed and he had just
[21:28] Speaker 1: had to ride out his time at Georgia Tech, Jamior
[21:31] Speaker 1: Gibbs not only is it the twelfth overall pick, He's
[21:34] Speaker 1: got a first round pick, No freaking way. And I
[21:38] Speaker 1: think sometimes the transfer portal for the guys that go
[21:42] Speaker 1: to bigger schools that leave a smaller school go to
[21:44] Speaker 1: the bigger school, they could shoot up like a rocket ship,
[21:47] Speaker 1: because when you transfer to some of these SEC schools
[21:50] Speaker 1: or these big ten schools, you're just playing in bigger games.
[21:54] Speaker 1: More people are watching it, there are more scouts and attendance.
[21:57] Speaker 1: They're being more highly dissected in draft meetings and lead
[22:02] Speaker 1: up to the combine, in lead up to the pro
[22:04] Speaker 1: day when the coaches get involved. And I think Jamiir
[22:08] Speaker 1: Gibbs is a great example of a guy that and
[22:12] Speaker 1: might have been one of the truly first big like
[22:17] Speaker 1: explosive risers from making a move in the portal. And
[22:22] Speaker 1: you watch him tonight. I mean, he is just a
[22:24] Speaker 1: spectacular talent. I've always said, like the last thing you
[22:29] Speaker 1: need as a running back, like you don't need Jamiir
[22:32] Speaker 1: Gibbs high end speed to be a great player at
[22:35] Speaker 1: running back. You don't need to be a four to
[22:37] Speaker 1: three guy. You don't need to be Adrian Peterson. Frank
[22:40] Speaker 1: Gore probably ran a four to six. You can be
[22:43] Speaker 1: an exceptional running back and not have David Montgomery. You
[22:47] Speaker 1: don't need great top end speed, but if you have it,
[22:51] Speaker 1: you can be a major problem. And we saw last
[22:53] Speaker 1: year with Sakwon Barkley had what six' seven runs of
[22:57] Speaker 1: over sixty yards and you saw to night give like
[23:01] Speaker 1: that thing you know opens like The Red sea and
[23:04] Speaker 1: he's just out the gate and when you're that, fast
[23:07] Speaker 1: no one is catching. You AND i would, imagine Beside Jamison,
[23:11] Speaker 1: williams there's not a guy on the offense faster than,
[23:13] Speaker 1: him and he's just that. Pick like watching them the
[23:18] Speaker 1: night AND i THINK i said this last, week there
[23:21] Speaker 1: is not a better group of skill players in THE
[23:23] Speaker 1: nfl than the one The Detroit lions. Have when you
[23:26] Speaker 1: factor in their two running, backs they're tight, end and
[23:30] Speaker 1: they're two, receivers and you could argue three. Receivers it
[23:34] Speaker 1: is just it's the best group in the. League and
[23:36] Speaker 1: their quarterback's pretty damn. Good now he has some. Limitations
[23:39] Speaker 1: he can't, move he's not gonna be scrambling around like
[23:42] Speaker 1: He's Sam darnold OR. Cj. Stroud but if you can protect,
[23:46] Speaker 1: them which they kind of, can you're gonna get slicing.
[23:51] Speaker 1: Diced and, honestly they weren't even that good on. Offense
[23:53] Speaker 1: the story of the game is the. Defense we'll get
[23:55] Speaker 1: into them in a, second but it hits me every
[23:57] Speaker 1: time that It's Monday night football and this team's now
[24:01] Speaker 1: five and. TWO i don't think we Give Dan campbell
[24:05] Speaker 1: enough credit for resurrecting a. Franchise you can't even resurrect
[24:11] Speaker 1: something because it never. WAS i, mean The Detroit lions
[24:14] Speaker 1: were the biggest joke franchise of the last thirty. Years
[24:17] Speaker 1: no team lost more in the two thousands and the
[24:19] Speaker 1: twenty tens in The Detroit. Lions and he hasn't just
[24:23] Speaker 1: turned them into a good. Team he's turned them into
[24:26] Speaker 1: a league. Power, like they have as good a chance
[24:29] Speaker 1: as any team in THE nfc to be in THE Nfc.
[24:31] Speaker 1: Championship they have as good a, chance you would say
[24:34] Speaker 1: watching them is any to be in The Super bowl
[24:37] Speaker 1: representing THE. Nfc, Obviously they're big variable is health and
[24:42] Speaker 1: this is back to back. Years it kind of hit me.
[24:45] Speaker 1: TONIGHT i think one similarity that you, KNOW i Think
[24:50] Speaker 1: Kyle shanahan and the forty nine ers really deal with.
[24:52] Speaker 1: THIS i think when you're a run heavy team and
[24:56] Speaker 1: you have a coach who preaches physicality and, practice you
[25:01] Speaker 1: know these guys the rules are not on your, side
[25:05] Speaker 1: so it's not like you build up the. Calluses AND
[25:07] Speaker 1: i do wonder if the physicality that you have in
[25:11] Speaker 1: practice and the games just kind of leads to guys
[25:14] Speaker 1: dropping like. Flies because The lions a lot like the
[25:17] Speaker 1: forty Nine. Ers it's just every, game guys just on the,
[25:20] Speaker 1: ground guys, injured random guys. Up it's pretty. Crazy but
[25:25] Speaker 1: a lot Like Sunday night with a mass, unit and
[25:28] Speaker 1: Even Troy aikman said the night you could Tell Troy
[25:32] Speaker 1: aikman was in just had nothing but like admiration for
[25:37] Speaker 1: What Kelvin shepherd and the effort that The lions random
[25:40] Speaker 1: defensive players were. Doing and we have seen this back
[25:43] Speaker 1: to back years, now and this is Where Dan campbell
[25:46] Speaker 1: deserves a lot of. Credit one Thing i've always said
[25:48] Speaker 1: About Jim harbaugh hires really good coaches because at the
[25:52] Speaker 1: end of the, day like he's Not Mike, shanahan you,
[25:56] Speaker 1: know he's Not Todd, bowles like he's not calling any.
[26:00] Speaker 1: Place he's a leader and his best, ability like to,
[26:06] Speaker 1: lead is to put guys in position to run the
[26:08] Speaker 1: offense of the. Defense and he's always been really good at,
[26:11] Speaker 1: that going back to Like San, Diego, stanford the forty nine,
[26:14] Speaker 1: Ers and one Thing Dan campbell has proven now Like
[26:18] Speaker 1: Johnny morriton has been pretty. Good you can't really dispute
[26:20] Speaker 1: IT'S i don't want to say he's the Next Ben
[26:23] Speaker 1: johnson because he's much, older but it hasn't been that
[26:26] Speaker 1: big of a drop, off and tonight like they were
[26:29] Speaker 1: a little. Off BUT i would say over the course
[26:31] Speaker 1: of the last three or four weeks they've been good on,
[26:33] Speaker 1: offense but defensively to Lose Aaron, glenn who clearly is
[26:37] Speaker 1: having some struggles In New, york don't blame him most
[26:40] Speaker 1: people do is to watch essentially the same guy Because
[26:45] Speaker 1: kelvin sheperd former. Player Remember Dan campbell said when he
[26:49] Speaker 1: was coaching In miami And kelvin was a, Player he's,
[26:52] Speaker 1: like this guy's gonna be a fantastic coach to identify those,
[26:56] Speaker 1: guys to then hire those, guys and then to start
[26:59] Speaker 1: them low and build them up and then put them
[27:01] Speaker 1: in a position where because defense is really about two, things,
[27:05] Speaker 1: right you got to under stand the schematics of, it,
[27:09] Speaker 1: Right Vic, Fangio Bill, belichick, like really understand the, detail
[27:14] Speaker 1: especially in this day and age playing the offenses that
[27:17] Speaker 1: all the officiating and the rules are on their. Side
[27:20] Speaker 1: the league wants to see, point so you're at a huge.
[27:23] Speaker 1: Disadvantage so from a detail, standpoint like you gotta be
[27:27] Speaker 1: every bit is dialed in on the x's nose as
[27:29] Speaker 1: the offensive. Guys but then you kind of got to
[27:32] Speaker 1: be a crazy motherfucker and be a little off your.
[27:36] Speaker 1: Rocker and there's a motivational element to defense that there
[27:41] Speaker 1: just really isn't with. Offense offense is much more, cerebral
[27:44] Speaker 1: maybe with the offensive, line but the offensive unit as a,
[27:47] Speaker 1: whole it's not nearly the. Same and that's an element
[27:52] Speaker 1: of motivation of personality that it's they're kind of the, same,
[27:59] Speaker 1: Right most high level defensive coordinators and defensive guys are
[28:04] Speaker 1: pretty intense. Dudes and to go From Aaron glen to
[28:08] Speaker 1: this has been really. Impressive And Dan campbell deserves a
[28:11] Speaker 1: lot of credit because him And Brad holmes took JUST
[28:16] Speaker 1: i mean a trash, franchise an irrelevant. Franchise Even Troy
[28:20] Speaker 1: aikman mentioned a, Night he's, like it's. Crazy now we
[28:23] Speaker 1: have done these last couple of, years Multiple monday night.
[28:26] Speaker 1: Games for, YEARS i never touched this team beside On,
[28:30] Speaker 1: thanksgiving and now they are just a stalwart of like
[28:33] Speaker 1: you need a big, game throw The lions in, there
[28:35] Speaker 1: especially at, home and they do not. Disappoint it feels.
[28:38] Speaker 1: Big their team pops the talent on the. ROSTER i,
[28:42] Speaker 1: mean this goes back to THE gm done a fantastic.
[28:45] Speaker 1: JOB i, mean we know about their. Offense, Defensively Aiden
[28:49] Speaker 1: hutchinson is just an awesome. Player Jack campbell had a
[28:54] Speaker 1: nice play tonight on. Coverage they've just done a really
[28:57] Speaker 1: good job and they're obviously missing a ton of guys
[29:00] Speaker 1: suspended because of he Attacked juju last. Week but he'll be.
[29:05] Speaker 1: Back he's a, baller And i'm Just i'm just really
[29:08] Speaker 1: really impressed with The lions and everything they got. Going
[29:12] Speaker 1: and there's not much for me to say About, tampa
[29:14] Speaker 1: like they were bound to have a bad. Game pretty.
[29:18] Speaker 1: Devastating Mike, evans WHO i had to google his. Contract
[29:21] Speaker 1: he signed a two year deal two years, ago so
[29:23] Speaker 1: he's gonna be a free agent at the end of this.
[29:25] Speaker 1: Year to come back from the hamstring injury and to
[29:29] Speaker 1: break your collar bone and get a concussion on the same,
[29:32] Speaker 1: play the way he was laying down for a long,
[29:36] Speaker 1: time you, knew like this is not. Good and obviously
[29:39] Speaker 1: the information coming out that it's six to eight weeks
[29:42] Speaker 1: and just a bad, deal and a lot of people
[29:45] Speaker 1: asking me you think he's played his last game as
[29:47] Speaker 1: a as A. BUCK i don't. KNOW i, mean the
[29:52] Speaker 1: collarbone's not a career ending, injury but you start having
[29:56] Speaker 1: some of these hamstring, injuries, concussion. Collarbone you've made enough,
[30:00] Speaker 1: Money you've won A Super. BOWL i could see him
[30:04] Speaker 1: coming back To tampa on like a one year cheaper.
[30:07] Speaker 1: DEAL i have a hard time seeing him finish somewhere.
[30:10] Speaker 1: Else but that was tough And tampa's another, team a
[30:13] Speaker 1: lot like The, lions a lot like the forty nine,
[30:15] Speaker 1: Ers like you can just only have so many. Injuries
[30:19] Speaker 1: eventually it's, like what's going on here and you just
[30:22] Speaker 1: run out of Juice and typically that happens on the,
[30:25] Speaker 1: road and that's what happened. Tonight they just looked. Off
[30:30] Speaker 1: they just were not. Good AND i would say that
[30:35] Speaker 1: not that big a, deal and it's time to rally the.
[30:37] Speaker 1: Troops and luckily you're in a division WITH i saw
[30:41] Speaker 1: a clip today Of Raheem morris on a big third
[30:43] Speaker 1: down last. Night they had ten guys on the. Field it's,
[30:46] Speaker 1: like that's that's that's the team that you have to
[30:48] Speaker 1: worry about in your. Division that, team you, Know Carolina,
[30:52] Speaker 1: panthers feisty. Squad BUT i don't Think tampa's losing sleep over.
[30:56] Speaker 1: Them and obviously The saints are, Terrible so, Listen damp
[31:00] Speaker 1: a bad, game but when the dust, settles gonna be.
[31:04] Speaker 1: OKAY a couple other. Things Drake greenlaw got, suspended he
[31:10] Speaker 1: missed basically got. Injured they got injured in the. Offseason
[31:14] Speaker 1: then he got INJURED i think again in training camp
[31:16] Speaker 1: with the quad and he has been out the entire
[31:18] Speaker 1: season up until last, week where he looked pretty rusty
[31:22] Speaker 1: and at the end of the game when they kicked
[31:23] Speaker 1: the game winning field, goal he like b lined into
[31:25] Speaker 1: the referee started screaming at. Him AND i didn't see.
[31:30] Speaker 1: THIS i guess In Bronco, land maybe that moment had
[31:33] Speaker 1: gone viral by a guy that covers the team had
[31:38] Speaker 1: like filmed. It and then today it was announced that
[31:40] Speaker 1: he's been suspended for a game for verbally attacking a.
[31:44] Speaker 1: Referee to, me unless you said LIKE i want to
[31:49] Speaker 1: murder you and your entire, Family i've said this for
[31:53] Speaker 1: a long. TIME i have a really hard time in
[31:55] Speaker 1: professional sports If i'm swearing at, you even if it's
[31:59] Speaker 1: not like you could argue it's not. Appropriate, yeah there
[32:04] Speaker 1: are a lot of inappropriate things that happen in pro,
[32:06] Speaker 1: sports AND i think there better be a very distinct
[32:10] Speaker 1: line that has to get crossed for you to suspend
[32:13] Speaker 1: and doc a game check away from me as a.
[32:16] Speaker 1: Player AND i know that he. Is you know they're
[32:20] Speaker 1: contesting it with THE, nflpa BUT i gotta know what
[32:24] Speaker 1: is specifically said to feel comfortable, Going, yeah you deserve
[32:28] Speaker 1: to be. SUSPENDED i got no. Problem, listen we got
[32:31] Speaker 1: to have some rules and regulations and some. Discipline you
[32:33] Speaker 1: can't just be attacking. Referees totally understand. It it's like
[32:36] Speaker 1: anytime you hear AN nba coach, Like i'm gonna get fined,
[32:39] Speaker 1: here But i'm gonna go in on the. Referees this
[32:40] Speaker 1: is part of the. Game twenty thousand, dollars, fine, Whatever
[32:43] Speaker 1: even THOUGH i think we just throw fine numbers, AROUND
[32:47] Speaker 1: i just dock them fifty, grand, Oh Jonathan gannon one hundred,
[32:50] Speaker 1: Grand like there's a lot of. Money this is net,
[32:52] Speaker 1: income not gross. Income so whatever you're taxed on then
[32:56] Speaker 1: they take it away from. THAT i think a lot
[32:58] Speaker 1: of these fine systems players coaches is batshit. Crazy but
[33:03] Speaker 1: UNLESS i hear something and, listen it takes a lot
[33:05] Speaker 1: to offend. Me it better be pretty egregious to suspend
[33:09] Speaker 1: the guy and dock him a game check for a.
[33:12] Speaker 1: Game IF i Was Dre, Greenlaw i'd be posting WHAT i,
[33:15] Speaker 1: said trying to get the you, know public on my.
[33:19] Speaker 1: SIDE a couple other quick. Things Brandon graham is going
[33:25] Speaker 1: to return at least all signs. Point i'm recording this
[33:28] Speaker 1: at eleven o'clock at night On monday. Night The eagles
[33:31] Speaker 1: are desperate for a little outside pass rush playing The
[33:34] Speaker 1: Giants Jackson. Dart all signs point To Brandon graham coming.
[33:38] Speaker 1: BACK i can't Imagine brandon and home with his. Family
[33:40] Speaker 1: think he's got a couple of young, kids probably a little,
[33:42] Speaker 1: board and he, Goes, Wait jeffrey And howie just called.
[33:46] Speaker 1: Me they said they'll pay you five hundred grand a
[33:49] Speaker 1: game you know or, whatever you, know pro rated ten million. Dollars,
[33:53] Speaker 1: Well i'm just not doing that much. Else, now WHAT
[33:55] Speaker 1: i would wonder is what has he been doing. PHYSICALLY
[34:01] Speaker 1: i would, guess like most you, know young healthy, adults
[34:04] Speaker 1: he's working. Out but there's a big difference like going
[34:06] Speaker 1: to the, gym getting a little, pump getting an, ollimptical
[34:09] Speaker 1: getting a little walk on a ten, incline and like
[34:11] Speaker 1: training to get after offensive. Tackles so if he has
[34:16] Speaker 1: specifically been training over the LAST i don't, know six
[34:20] Speaker 1: months to just maintain his uh not even just his physical,
[34:26] Speaker 1: stature but just MY nfl, Pedigree i'd be impressed AND
[34:30] Speaker 1: i have a lot of respect for him if his
[34:33] Speaker 1: training has maintained the same level of intensity as it
[34:38] Speaker 1: would have over the course of his, career Because i'd
[34:40] Speaker 1: be hard. Pressed you just retire and you just maintain that.
[34:45] Speaker 1: Training maybe just a physical, freak but he is an older,
[34:48] Speaker 1: player shows you they're a little desperate and last but not,
[34:51] Speaker 1: least it's tough time to be A giants. Fan it's
[34:55] Speaker 1: better than being A jets, fan but it's. TOUGH i
[34:57] Speaker 1: mean that, game, obviously it's In one of the main
[35:01] Speaker 1: talking points of all the football world is The giants
[35:05] Speaker 1: blowing that game to The. BRONCOS i will say. THIS
[35:08] Speaker 1: i want to BECAUSE i defended Day, ball not BECAUSE
[35:10] Speaker 1: i think he's like doing some bang up. Job it's just,
[35:13] Speaker 1: listen you gotta let the coach that hand picked the
[35:16] Speaker 1: quarterback give him a little. Runway IF i would have
[35:19] Speaker 1: told you six months ago that we would be close
[35:22] Speaker 1: To halloween and there's not a soul in THE, nfl
[35:26] Speaker 1: including The, titans that would take Cam ward Over Jackson,
[35:30] Speaker 1: dart you would have had a big smile on your
[35:33] Speaker 1: face been, like are you? Serious how good is this?
[35:36] Speaker 1: Looking AND i do think we could sit here today
[35:38] Speaker 1: BECAUSE i saw stat that Since Jackson dart was inserted
[35:42] Speaker 1: in the starting lineup that The giants are averaging over
[35:44] Speaker 1: twenty five points a game and that would rank them
[35:47] Speaker 1: six in THE. Nfl so, like, offensively, clearly they are
[35:52] Speaker 1: as fun of an offense as they've had in a
[35:55] Speaker 1: long long. Time even the year that they made the,
[35:57] Speaker 1: playoffs when they went nine to eight With Daniel, jones
[36:00] Speaker 1: didn't he throw like fifteen touchdowns that? Year it's not
[36:03] Speaker 1: like he threw thirty. Eight it's not like he Had
[36:04] Speaker 1: Sam darnold's season last year with The Minnesota. Vikings so,
[36:07] Speaker 1: like if you're gonna need and sometimes when times are,
[36:11] Speaker 1: dark we've all been down in the dumps for different
[36:13] Speaker 1: shit in our, life whether it's just, personally, professionally, whatever
[36:17] Speaker 1: you just need to find a bright. Spot AND i
[36:20] Speaker 1: do think the bright spot right now is did we
[36:23] Speaker 1: get the best quarterback in the? Draft did? We because
[36:25] Speaker 1: if there was a redraft right? Now and, Listen i'm
[36:29] Speaker 1: not acting LIKE i Hated Cam moore AND i liked.
[36:32] Speaker 1: HIM i thought he'd be a good. PLAYER i bet
[36:34] Speaker 1: on them the first three. Weeks watching the last couple
[36:36] Speaker 1: of weeks a little hard to, judge but he there's
[36:39] Speaker 1: no disputing he looks. Terrible he looks completely. Overwhelmed it's
[36:44] Speaker 1: a tough. Watch now it could be A jared goff
[36:46] Speaker 1: situation back With Jeff, fisher your two McVeigh comes in
[36:50] Speaker 1: and becomes a great. Player So i'm not right in
[36:53] Speaker 1: the guy's obituary and saying he's a. Bust but it's
[36:57] Speaker 1: not going. Well people are getting. Fired, hey that building
[37:02] Speaker 1: is in, shambles and while the giants aff a, LOSS
[37:06] Speaker 1: i do think you need to look somewhat optimistically to.
[37:09] Speaker 1: GO i think we hit on the. Quarterback CAN i
[37:20] Speaker 1: tell you about my friends At Raging, Bones and like
[37:24] Speaker 1: many of, You i'm always looking for a pair of.
[37:25] Speaker 1: Jeans they're not just fits, right that looks, good that's,
[37:29] Speaker 1: comfortable THAT i could wear in a business, setting THAT
[37:32] Speaker 1: i can wear traveling. Wherever and that's where these guys come.
[37:35] Speaker 1: In one the jeans look. Fantastic two like they're NOT
[37:40] Speaker 1: i wouldn't say, elastic but they're definitely. Uh they do,
[37:43] Speaker 1: stretch so depending on how much you've, eaten whether you've
[37:46] Speaker 1: had a rough week and you've gained a few, pounds
[37:49] Speaker 1: they still go. On they fit, easy they look. Great
[37:52] Speaker 1: they also sent me a shirt shirts really styling and.
[37:55] Speaker 1: Profiling so cannot recommend these guys. Enough if you're looking
[38:00] Speaker 1: for a pair of, jeans it's time to upgrade your
[38:02] Speaker 1: denim With rag And, bone and for a limited, time
[38:05] Speaker 1: our listeners get twenty percent off their entire order with code.
[38:09] Speaker 1: Three that's the number three and out at rag dashbone dot.
[38:14] Speaker 1: Com that's twenty percent off at rag dashbone dot com

[38:33] Speaker 1: three or four, days, five six, DAYS i don't even,
[38:35] Speaker 1: Know but At John middlecoff is My. Instagram fire in the.
[38:38] Speaker 1: Dms just in my dms and get your questions answered
[38:42] Speaker 1: here on the show. Easiest it's really the only way
[38:44] Speaker 1: you can send me an. Email you can tweet at,
[38:47] Speaker 1: me you can hit me On, LinkedIn but this is
[38:49] Speaker 1: how you interact and get put on the podcast is
[38:52] Speaker 1: just firing My instagram. Dms we'll start With, josh are
[38:55] Speaker 1: we really going to be glazing The chiefs all week
[38:58] Speaker 1: because they blew out The raiders at? Home not saying
[39:01] Speaker 1: The chiefs don't look good and especially better than they
[39:03] Speaker 1: did the beginning of the, year but come, on The
[39:06] Speaker 1: raiders are a garbage. Fire. Listen two things can be.
[39:09] Speaker 1: True One raiders got some. Problems i'm sure we will
[39:13] Speaker 1: address them more as the season takes, shape because it's
[39:18] Speaker 1: getting uglier by the. Week didn't even have one hundred
[39:20] Speaker 1: yards of. Offense BUT i do think The chiefs being
[39:25] Speaker 1: LIKE i don't, know getting their swag back is a
[39:28] Speaker 1: pretty big story when they've been to Five Super bowls
[39:30] Speaker 1: in six years and the year they missed, it they
[39:32] Speaker 1: lost in THE Afc Championship game where they had a
[39:34] Speaker 1: lead at. Halftime so it's like they are a major
[39:37] Speaker 1: factor in this league for a reason that they win
[39:40] Speaker 1: the division every, year WHICH i think was in question
[39:42] Speaker 1: for the first. Time your, boy just on, value not
[39:46] Speaker 1: BECAUSE i root for The. CHIEFS i got a bunch
[39:48] Speaker 1: of friends on the, team BUT i was texted with
[39:50] Speaker 1: a couple of, them like they played really well on,
[39:53] Speaker 1: offense and that's an area in which last year was a.
[39:56] Speaker 1: Struggle you, Know Hollywood, Brown thornton obviously the running. Game
[40:02] Speaker 1: adding this Rookie, smith like they got a lot going for,
[40:04] Speaker 1: him and their rookie offensive tackle hasn't played in a
[40:07] Speaker 1: couple weeks and he's one of the better rookies in the.
[40:09] Speaker 1: League BECAUSE i don't even know the actual Situation i've
[40:13] Speaker 1: read the reports that are public to, Everybody so who
[40:16] Speaker 1: knows how that situation is going to figure itself. Out
[40:19] Speaker 1: but IF i was A chiefs, Fan i'd be pretty fired.
[40:22] Speaker 1: Up i'd like my, Chances i'll tell you that. Much
[40:26] Speaker 1: do you think The, niners this From troy should Put purty?
[40:29] Speaker 1: Down now that we know the toe is going to require,
[40:31] Speaker 1: surgery shouldn't they just do it as opposed to waiting
[40:34] Speaker 1: until the offseason what might prevent, him which might prevent
[40:38] Speaker 1: him for the start of. CAMP i hear what you're,
[40:41] Speaker 1: Saying but these, teams and specifically these players live like
[40:46] Speaker 1: year to. YEAR i just have little to no hope
[40:50] Speaker 1: that whenever he, does if he comes back this week
[40:52] Speaker 1: or next, week he's just going to reinjure the. Tow
[40:55] Speaker 1: so you just play for a game to reinjure. IT
[41:00] Speaker 1: i think he HAS i don't even know the right,
[41:03] Speaker 1: way the right adjective to describe, it but emotionally he's probably,
[41:08] Speaker 1: PRETTY i don't, know torn up about. It he gets
[41:12] Speaker 1: all this money and then he just can't, play and
[41:15] Speaker 1: then he tries to play and it's one of those
[41:17] Speaker 1: injuries like turf toe and a bunch of players have
[41:20] Speaker 1: come out and like defended it because it doesn't sound
[41:24] Speaker 1: sounds like stubbing your, toe which we all know hurts a.
[41:26] Speaker 1: Lot but at least when you break an, arm or
[41:29] Speaker 1: you dislocate an elbow or you get a high ankle,
[41:31] Speaker 1: sprain it's pretty. Definitive it's like turf. Toe, yeah just
[41:36] Speaker 1: hurts like a mother like the PAIN i reinjure it
[41:40] Speaker 1: WHEN i attempt, to you, know to. Play it's impossible
[41:44] Speaker 1: to overcome WITHOUT i guess the, surgery WHICH i didn't
[41:47] Speaker 1: EVEN i haven't read that, anywhere BUT i would guess
[41:51] Speaker 1: that he would knee surgery at the end of the.
[41:53] Speaker 1: Season it just. SUCKS i, mean it really. Does he
[41:56] Speaker 1: was poised to have a big, season, obviously got paid
[41:58] Speaker 1: a ton of money that was based on his previous,
[42:02] Speaker 1: work and now Mac jones is kind of carrying the
[42:04] Speaker 1: team from a quarterback standpoint because party can't. PLAY i
[42:08] Speaker 1: just have a little to no faith that like it's
[42:11] Speaker 1: gonna go. Away so, yeah you can get, surgery but
[42:14] Speaker 1: he is not going to agree to, that no. Chance
[42:16] Speaker 1: and the team clearly like they have nine months in the,
[42:20] Speaker 1: offseason so they'll just be, like, yeah let's write it.
[42:22] Speaker 1: Out see if we can battle through it and figure this,
[42:25] Speaker 1: out that's WHAT i think their mindset is gonna, be
[42:27] Speaker 1: which clearly is their mindset right. Now we're in toward
[42:30] Speaker 1: the end Of. October as A New York giants, fan
[42:34] Speaker 1: this team has an issue of being up and down
[42:36] Speaker 1: every single week like a yacht in a. Hurricane what
[42:39] Speaker 1: do you think The giants should, do not just this,
[42:40] Speaker 1: season but in the future of building Around dart and
[42:42] Speaker 1: hopefully neighbors when he's rehabbing. Back why said this on
[42:48] Speaker 1: The Reaction pod On Sunday, Night and this is, tough.
[42:52] Speaker 1: Right it. Sucks this team loses a. LOT i, mean
[42:54] Speaker 1: that's a pretty legendary. LOSS i THINK i heard the record.
[42:58] Speaker 1: Somewhere it was a lot of games for a team
[43:02] Speaker 1: that had an eighteen point lead WITH i think under
[43:04] Speaker 1: seven minutes to, go they don't. LOSE i mean it's like,
[43:08] Speaker 1: statistically it's, listen like the De morcado, play you needed
[43:12] Speaker 1: a touchdown or you needed a turnover to allow the
[43:15] Speaker 1: team to come back because it was impossible if the
[43:17] Speaker 1: game just went you get some, plays we get some.
[43:20] Speaker 1: Plays you couldn't overcome eighteen to, nothing twenty six to.
[43:24] Speaker 1: Eight you just didn't have enough time on the clock
[43:26] Speaker 1: And dark gave him a. Turnover but, ultimately like the
[43:30] Speaker 1: best part about The Dart scataboo experience is they're not
[43:35] Speaker 1: just fun like they're really you, Know scataboo is a
[43:37] Speaker 1: good player And dart from a hope, standpoint like the
[43:41] Speaker 1: physical attributes the arm, strength the playmaking can be a little,
[43:45] Speaker 1: reckless but most young players are taking some hits that
[43:47] Speaker 1: you would like to. AVOID i do think they were
[43:50] Speaker 1: in a tough spot with the coach because my take
[43:53] Speaker 1: was Like i'd give Day ball another. Year you're gonna
[43:55] Speaker 1: fire him and just start over with this. Crew because
[43:59] Speaker 1: whoever is an assistant coach or a guy a retread
[44:05] Speaker 1: to try to get The giants. Job of course they're
[44:08] Speaker 1: gonna SAY i Love dark and honestly they might be
[44:10] Speaker 1: intrigued by, him but if it doesn't go well for,
[44:12] Speaker 1: them they'll pivot on. Them and the same thing happened
[44:15] Speaker 1: With Daniel jones And brian A. Ball sometimes you just
[44:19] Speaker 1: gotta let it play out a little, bit AND i
[44:20] Speaker 1: think it's easy to counter that and, go, Well, john
[44:23] Speaker 1: they lose all the. Time you, know a couple of
[44:27] Speaker 1: years ago they had a high pick when they got.
[44:28] Speaker 1: Neighbors last year they had a high pick when they
[44:29] Speaker 1: Got Abdul. Carter just never, ends and it's. Frustrating it.
[44:33] Speaker 1: Sucks you, know watching a football team not be good
[44:36] Speaker 1: is not fun because there's a build up each week and,
[44:39] Speaker 1: then like The giants are, doing they kind of tease
[44:42] Speaker 1: you that they give a little just the, tip and
[44:44] Speaker 1: all of a sudden you lose one of the craziest
[44:46] Speaker 1: games of all. TIME i, mean that's honestly one of
[44:49] Speaker 1: the craziest Endings i've ever. SEEN i think we can
[44:52] Speaker 1: all agree for all of our years watching, football depending
[44:54] Speaker 1: on how old you, are that is as crazy of
[44:56] Speaker 1: a fourth quarter as you will ever. SEE i don't
[44:59] Speaker 1: have the, answer. Though my initial reaction IS i would
[45:03] Speaker 1: give Day ball next year and just give him basically
[45:06] Speaker 1: two years With dart HIGH iq guy, Here my question
[45:12] Speaker 1: for you is what happens for a team during the bye.
[45:15] Speaker 1: WEEK i know high end veteran players take time off
[45:18] Speaker 1: travel Ie travis when he went to The Taylor Swift,
[45:21] Speaker 1: Tour but what about non? Starters some practice players do
[45:24] Speaker 1: facilities stay open to work out and? Such what about?
[45:27] Speaker 1: Coaches do they continue to grind and watch film as
[45:29] Speaker 1: a former, scout did you get time off as? WELL
[45:33] Speaker 1: i think the NEW cba in twenty eleven mandated that
[45:38] Speaker 1: on a bye week THAT i don't know if It's
[45:41] Speaker 1: wednesday Through sunday Or thursday Through, sunday but like it's
[45:44] Speaker 1: mandatory the players are they have to get be given time. Off,
[45:49] Speaker 1: now you can choose if you're a, player to come
[45:52] Speaker 1: in and get a workout. In but once It's October,
[45:55] Speaker 1: november a couple days to get. AWAY i, mean you've
[45:58] Speaker 1: been training really year, round, Right SO i think most
[46:02] Speaker 1: players tend to get. AWAY i think you see if
[46:04] Speaker 1: you watch football On, saturdays you'll see a lot of
[46:06] Speaker 1: guys like At alabama or At Ohio state typically that's
[46:09] Speaker 1: their bye, week and younger, players you, know go back
[46:12] Speaker 1: to like homecoming or a big college. Game some guys
[46:16] Speaker 1: just you, know older player probably hangs out with their.
[46:18] Speaker 1: FAMILY i would say most. Coaches you, know it depends
[46:21] Speaker 1: where you are in the totem. Pole, right if you
[46:23] Speaker 1: are a quality control, guy which would be the lowest
[46:26] Speaker 1: guy in the totem, pole you're probably coming in a
[46:28] Speaker 1: Little Thursday friday to break, down break down some film
[46:31] Speaker 1: of your upcoming, opponent and Maybe, sunday the day of
[46:35] Speaker 1: the game in which the team that you're gonna play
[46:37] Speaker 1: the next week is. Playing but the head, coach the,
[46:40] Speaker 1: coordinators THE GM i think they. Are they're spending a
[46:45] Speaker 1: couple of days with their, family going to you, know
[46:48] Speaker 1: their kids high school football, game hanging with their. WIFE
[46:51] Speaker 1: i don't really such a long time ago, NOW i
[46:54] Speaker 1: probably just went home and, Slept but it's pretty relaxing
[46:57] Speaker 1: for a couple of. Days and by that time when
[47:00] Speaker 1: you get to the bye, week, right let's just say
[47:02] Speaker 1: your bye week is this. Week you have been grinding
[47:05] Speaker 1: like seven days a, week especially as a coach or
[47:09] Speaker 1: you know someone in the front office legitimately seven days
[47:12] Speaker 1: a week Since july. Twentieth so like you don't get.
[47:17] Speaker 1: Listen there are a lot of positives and awesome perks
[47:21] Speaker 1: of coming with the public, job i. E the. Money you,
[47:24] Speaker 1: know these coaches make a, ton gms make a. Ton
[47:27] Speaker 1: but you don't have a normal. Schedule you're not Working
[47:30] Speaker 1: monday Through friday and doing Nothing Saturday. SUNDAY i mean
[47:32] Speaker 1: you're Working monday Through sunday and traveling a. Lot like
[47:35] Speaker 1: it's it's a pretty big. Grind you don't sleep, much
[47:38] Speaker 1: SO i think the bye week is everyone's taking a deep. Breath,
[47:41] Speaker 1: ideally your team's doing pretty well and you can enjoy.
[47:43] Speaker 1: It if your team, sucks you're probably thinking about your
[47:46] Speaker 1: future and you might get. Fired so it's, yeah kind
[47:50] Speaker 1: of crazy, profession but it's usually a very relaxed. Time
[47:55] Speaker 1: the re emergence Of Daniel jones And Saquon barkley doing
[47:58] Speaker 1: really well In? Philadelphia does this help The giants and
[48:02] Speaker 1: hurt the? Coach does this help The GIANTS gm and
[48:05] Speaker 1: hurt the? COACH i don't think The GIANTS Gm Joe
[48:10] Speaker 1: shane drafted either, guy, right didn't they inherit both players.
[48:14] Speaker 1: Didn't Dave gettleman Draft Daniel jones And Saquon. BARKLEY i
[48:20] Speaker 1: know he Drafted Saquon barkley BECAUSE i remember when he,
[48:22] Speaker 1: did he said he was drafting A hall Of famer
[48:25] Speaker 1: and HE'S i don't know If saquon's gonna make The
[48:26] Speaker 1: hall Of, fame but he wasn't. Wrong, Like saquon's A
[48:28] Speaker 1: hall Of fame, talent And Daniel jones one of the
[48:31] Speaker 1: most maligned polarizing draft. PICKS i would, say of like
[48:36] Speaker 1: my adult, LIFE i, mean Taking Daniel jones and six
[48:39] Speaker 1: was pretty, bold but looks pretty good right, Now like
[48:42] Speaker 1: gonna leave the cults of the, playoffs that's for damn.
[48:44] Speaker 1: SURE i think it's easier to stomach With saquon And
[48:49] Speaker 1: scataboo or excuse, Me dart In, scataboo like those. Guys
[48:53] Speaker 1: part of, like it's easier to forget the girl that dumped,
[48:57] Speaker 1: you or the girl you dumped if she starts doing
[49:00] Speaker 1: well when you start dating someone. Else if you're alone
[49:03] Speaker 1: and lonely and scrolling On instagram and she's with her
[49:07] Speaker 1: dude In hawaii Or New york or, wherever having the
[49:11] Speaker 1: time of her life posting, pictures it seasy to be
[49:13] Speaker 1: down in the. Dumps but, like If i'm A giants,
[49:16] Speaker 1: FAN i. Go we Got skataboo And, dart so it
[49:18] Speaker 1: was fun. HAVING i, mean Obviously saquan's a better player Than,
[49:22] Speaker 1: scataboo but, like why Couldn't dart be better Than Daniel?
[49:25] Speaker 1: Jones SO i think it's easier to move on when
[49:29] Speaker 1: you've replaced those guys with kind of fan favorite. Players
[49:33] Speaker 1: SO i would say last, YEAR i MEAN i remember
[49:37] Speaker 1: saying It, Saquon, now DID i know he's gonna go
[49:40] Speaker 1: for two thousand yards and they were gonna win The Super. Bowl,
[49:41] Speaker 1: no but there was no way if he was, healthy
[49:44] Speaker 1: he wasn't gonna have a good season behind an unreal offensive.
[49:48] Speaker 1: LINE Aj, Brown DeVante, Smith Dallas goddard And Jalen hurts
[49:51] Speaker 1: like it was gonna. Work, now obviously it worked to
[49:54] Speaker 1: the best degree, possible BUT i don't, think, uh like
[50:00] Speaker 1: if those guys got stayed employed after, That like The
[50:03] Speaker 1: Daniel jones. Thing Daniel jones been on a couple different,
[50:06] Speaker 1: teams right they cut him last year he went To
[50:08] Speaker 1: minnesota like a lot of other teams could have had.
[50:11] Speaker 1: Him you could argue the biggest question mark is why
[50:14] Speaker 1: do some teams that needed a, quarterback why weren't they
[50:16] Speaker 1: more interested In we've had back to back years now
[50:20] Speaker 1: Where Sam donald ten million, dollars maybe it's four years
[50:24] Speaker 1: or three years in a. ROW i. Forgot i'd have
[50:26] Speaker 1: to google When baker got his like three year on
[50:28] Speaker 1: hundred million dollar. Contract But baker was on a five
[50:31] Speaker 1: million dollar deal or four million dollar, deal became a
[50:34] Speaker 1: long term. Starter Sam donald was on a one, year
[50:36] Speaker 1: ten million dollar. Deal was had one of the best
[50:39] Speaker 1: seasons in the league last, year and Now Daniel jones
[50:42] Speaker 1: is on a one, year fourteen million dollar. Contract the
[50:45] Speaker 1: difference Of Daniel jones And sam is like The Colt.
[50:48] Speaker 1: Saint Letting Daniel jones go, anywhere it'll be A Baker mayfield.
[50:51] Speaker 1: Situation he's, staying and rightfully. So this was a LONG
[50:56] Speaker 1: dm From christian basically arguing with his buddy About Joe,
[51:00] Speaker 1: burrow and he, said my buddy is convinced that almost
[51:04] Speaker 1: all of the blames should go To Joe. Burrow he
[51:06] Speaker 1: justifies his stance by throwing a bunch of advanced stats at.
[51:09] Speaker 1: Me for, example he tells me That burrow is sacked
[51:11] Speaker 1: around twenty four percent of the time that he faces,
[51:14] Speaker 1: pressure While mahomes And Josh allen their rates are ten
[51:18] Speaker 1: percent and fourteen percent, percent. Respectively he uses stats like
[51:22] Speaker 1: these to try and convince me the issue is Actually
[51:26] Speaker 1: joe and he holds onto the ball too much to.
[51:29] Speaker 1: Me these stats do not in take take into context
[51:32] Speaker 1: That joe is usually either playing from behind or in
[51:34] Speaker 1: a shootout and does not have the ability to constantly
[51:37] Speaker 1: check the ball down for short yardage gains due to
[51:40] Speaker 1: his inability to trust the defense literally at, all While
[51:43] Speaker 1: mahomes And allen have not necessarily had those same. Limitations
[51:48] Speaker 1: my question is, this as a former scout in the
[51:51] Speaker 1: era of quote Next gen or quote advanced, statistics do
[51:57] Speaker 1: you think they can be used on their own in
[52:00] Speaker 1: a situation like this to evaluate a player and paint
[52:03] Speaker 1: an accurate picture of what is happening on the. Field it's.
[52:07] Speaker 1: FUNNY i was texting with like an ASSISTANT gm a
[52:10] Speaker 1: couple weeks, ago and he was just, saying how it
[52:14] Speaker 1: makes him sick reading some of these. Articles, then let's face,
[52:17] Speaker 1: it a lot of The New age. Media if you
[52:20] Speaker 1: read one of their, articles it is essentially all advanced,
[52:24] Speaker 1: stats and that's how they talk and articulate their thoughts on.
[52:28] Speaker 1: Football AND i was, saying you know what's funny Is
[52:31] Speaker 1: i'm forty years old And i've been talking football with other,
[52:35] Speaker 1: people my friends and as doing this for a living,
[52:38] Speaker 1: now just random people for. Decades And i've never had
[52:42] Speaker 1: a conversation at a. Bar JUST i got a construction
[52:47] Speaker 1: project going on in my. BACKYARD i was just talking
[52:49] Speaker 1: football with like the guy running the project building a
[52:53] Speaker 1: little office out. There hopefully we'll be able to move
[52:56] Speaker 1: out there the next. Month on a golf course with
[52:59] Speaker 1: my buddies and these advanced stats have ever come up
[53:03] Speaker 1: that they never. Do, now if you work for a, team,
[53:07] Speaker 1: right if You're Howie roseman and you're trying to build the,
[53:10] Speaker 1: team should you look into what the advanced stats say
[53:13] Speaker 1: on an individual, player whether it's a free agent or
[53:15] Speaker 1: a draft. Pick of course you'd be crazy not. To
[53:17] Speaker 1: but just in the way that we Discuss Joe burrow
[53:20] Speaker 1: Or Patrick, MAHOMES i don't think you would have a
[53:23] Speaker 1: casual conversation with someone and they would bring up HIS.
[53:27] Speaker 1: EPA i just. Don't i've never had, that AND i
[53:31] Speaker 1: talk about football literally every day for decades on. End
[53:35] Speaker 1: SO i do think there are two ways to look at. It,
[53:38] Speaker 1: ONE i think if we dove into, it like you,
[53:40] Speaker 1: said that would be something you'd, go, well why does
[53:44] Speaker 1: he have an issue more than these other? GUYS i
[53:45] Speaker 1: would say this Watching Patrick mahomes And Josh, allen they
[53:48] Speaker 1: hold on the, ball sometimes probably too much at. Times
[53:52] Speaker 1: the difference is they're, both Especially, josh a much better
[53:55] Speaker 1: athlete Than. Joe so If joe's holding onto the, ball
[53:59] Speaker 1: he doesn't have the ability like some of these. Guys,
[54:02] Speaker 1: Herbert Josh, Allen Jalen hurts to run. Away he's going
[54:05] Speaker 1: to get sacked because he's not their level of. Athlete
[54:09] Speaker 1: but he has to hold onto the ball, sometimes like you,
[54:12] Speaker 1: said to make things. HAPPEN i bet if we did
[54:13] Speaker 1: a breakdown the last couple of, years his team's not
[54:16] Speaker 1: as good as. Theirs so like there's no one can.
[54:20] Speaker 1: Argue and part of the advanced stats, guys they like
[54:25] Speaker 1: they believe there's no emotion involved in any given stat,
[54:28] Speaker 1: Right like a long standing argument in baseball has been
[54:32] Speaker 1: there's no different than in a bat In game four
[54:35] Speaker 1: of The World series than In august of a game
[54:39] Speaker 1: at one o'clock against The Chicago White. Sox they believe
[54:42] Speaker 1: every individual situation is an, independent you, know exercise for that. Statistic,
[54:49] Speaker 1: right that's AN, ab that's AN. Ab they're all the,
[54:51] Speaker 1: same and most of us human being, goes, no there's
[54:54] Speaker 1: there's this thing called, pressure like and then they're, like,
[54:57] Speaker 1: well there's no such. Thing it's, like, well they're kind
[54:59] Speaker 1: Of and when you know that it is trust thrust
[55:04] Speaker 1: upon you that if we don't score thirty thirty five,
[55:07] Speaker 1: points we are going to. Lose that is a different
[55:10] Speaker 1: level of playing the. Sport then If i'm playing, quarterback
[55:15] Speaker 1: for the best defense in the league. History IF i
[55:17] Speaker 1: have the eighty Five bears, Defense i'm going to approach
[55:21] Speaker 1: on a weekly basis much different than IF i have
[55:23] Speaker 1: one of the worst defense in the. League Right IT'S
[55:25] Speaker 1: i say the same thing like IF i give you
[55:27] Speaker 1: a putt from ten feet for five, dollars you might
[55:31] Speaker 1: look at it a little. Different IF i, go, hey
[55:33] Speaker 1: this putt is for twenty five thousand, dollars you might
[55:36] Speaker 1: feel in your bones a little. Bit it's no different
[55:38] Speaker 1: than playing. Quarterback you, know there's pressure on you to
[55:40] Speaker 1: get the job done because if you, don't your team will.
[55:42] Speaker 1: Lose SO i would imagine if we did a deep deep.
[55:46] Speaker 1: Dive have there ben sacks that are on him that
[55:52] Speaker 1: he probably doesn't you, know take like get the fault
[55:58] Speaker 1: doesn't fall on him from a media perspective like it
[56:01] Speaker 1: would on some other. Quarterbacks, sure BUT i also think
[56:04] Speaker 1: is he are they very dependent on him making plays
[56:08] Speaker 1: out of as you know? What of course they got.
[56:12] Speaker 1: ISSUES i mean that that. Franchise what a bizarre. FRANCHISE i,
[56:16] Speaker 1: mean it really. Is what a CRAZY i still can't
[56:18] Speaker 1: believe they. WON a couple of days ago And flacco
[56:21] Speaker 1: had one of the cooler moments THAT i THAT i
[56:23] Speaker 1: remember this so far this season pretty pretty nuts that.
[56:26] Speaker 1: Happened this Is Dzy stark here straight From South. Africa
[56:45] Speaker 1: we made it to The World, cup So i'm coming
[56:46] Speaker 1: to THE. Us. Baby relate so much to. You been
[56:50] Speaker 1: in corporate finance for a couple of years and now
[56:52] Speaker 1: we're in a private equity. Fund you would have been
[56:55] Speaker 1: a dog in. Finance that personality is the type PEOPLE
[57:00] Speaker 1: i like to hire for my. Team, Well, stark if
[57:02] Speaker 1: times ever get dark over here At, SCOTTSDALE i might
[57:04] Speaker 1: have to give you a. CALL i usually agree with
[57:07] Speaker 1: the majority of your, points BUT i have to disagree
[57:09] Speaker 1: with you with The colts And. Charlie you totally thought
[57:12] Speaker 1: it was a, gimmick but hands on leadership is key
[57:15] Speaker 1: to success because the team feels as if you were
[57:18] Speaker 1: there with them in the. Trenches what's your take? Now
[57:21] Speaker 1: when you Say, CHARLIE i don't know her, NAME i
[57:24] Speaker 1: would imagine you're alluding to The, colts one Of ersa's
[57:28] Speaker 1: daughters who wears the headset on the. Sideline i'm not
[57:33] Speaker 1: to like egotistical or. Narcissistic narcissistic to think That i'm
[57:39] Speaker 1: always right and my take that it was kind of
[57:42] Speaker 1: a clown show her doing, That like could be very very,
[57:46] Speaker 1: wrong BUT i do feel pretty confident that they haven't
[57:51] Speaker 1: won or lost because she's on the sideline with a.
[57:54] Speaker 1: Headset LIKE i think a huge reason for their success,
[57:58] Speaker 1: is like their quarterback play has been really really, good
[58:01] Speaker 1: so like her, Leadership like players aren't looking to her for,
[58:05] Speaker 1: leadership and, honestly Like Chris ballard and especially the coach
[58:11] Speaker 1: Stike in and Lou amruno and their coaching, staff like
[58:14] Speaker 1: they're not paying attention to her at all during the.
[58:17] Speaker 1: Game so when they were losing games the last couple
[58:19] Speaker 1: of years With Anthony, Richson, flacco, whoever and now they're winning, Them,
[58:24] Speaker 1: LIKE i think it has little to do with her
[58:29] Speaker 1: on a headset taking. Notes. Now who. Knows here's WHERE
[58:32] Speaker 1: i could be. Wrong maybe she has given them, ideas
[58:35] Speaker 1: because the one thing she can do is they're so
[58:41] Speaker 1: inundated and deep into. It there are things when you're
[58:44] Speaker 1: so close to the sun you can't even realize what's going.
[58:46] Speaker 1: On so maybe she could give them a few, ideas
[58:50] Speaker 1: not necessarily plays or, anything but just some big picture macro.
[58:55] Speaker 1: Thoughts not putting that pastor at, all but they were
[58:59] Speaker 1: not gonna win or lose because of her on a
[59:03] Speaker 1: headset on the. SIDELINE i guess that was my entire.
[59:05] Speaker 1: Point do DO i think it's a little? PERFORMATIVE i? Do?
[59:09] Speaker 1: Uh is there a chance that she is one hundred
[59:11] Speaker 1: percent being? Truthful she needs to do, this AND i
[59:14] Speaker 1: think she's been doing it FOR i think she's been
[59:15] Speaker 1: doing it Since ursa passed, away OR i mean before he.
[59:18] Speaker 1: DIED i Think i'm pretty sure he's been doing this for.
[59:20] Speaker 1: Years so, YEAH i, mean if it works for, her
[59:23] Speaker 1: more power to. Her and If i'm A colts, FAN
[59:26] Speaker 1: i don't care either, way as long As Daniel jones
[59:28] Speaker 1: And Jonathan taylor scoring touchdowns and we're winning games six and? One? Baby?
[59:33] Speaker 1: Uh why did the stafford get talked about enough FOR? Mvp?
[59:38] Speaker 1: Has he has been on top of the quarterback stats all.
[59:41] Speaker 1: Season if The rams didn't have kicking, issues the record
[59:44] Speaker 1: could be even better than five and. TWO i feel
[59:46] Speaker 1: like he's always been underrated in his, career and that's
[59:49] Speaker 1: why he doesn't have many individual accolades Like Pro balls
[59:53] Speaker 1: And All pros as he. DESERVES i also wanted to
[59:56] Speaker 1: mention a sneaky important game that could be crucial when
[59:58] Speaker 1: it comes TO, mvp and that this week Twelve Sunday
[1:00:00] Speaker 1: night football between The rams and The, BUCCANEERS i think
[1:00:04] Speaker 1: the winner of that game could end up being THE.
[1:00:06] Speaker 1: Mvp like That christmas game between The ravens and The.
[1:00:09] Speaker 1: NINERS i think he's alluding To Brock purdy not playing.
[1:00:12] Speaker 1: Well Lamar JACKSON i think accounted or MAYBE i don't
[1:00:15] Speaker 1: know if he, threw but he counted for five touchdowns
[1:00:17] Speaker 1: and then the rest is. HISTORY i was shocked to
[1:00:21] Speaker 1: See stafford's status yesterday WHEN i was going on With.
[1:00:24] Speaker 1: Colin obviously he HAD i mean two of his last
[1:00:26] Speaker 1: three games The niners, loss which is definitely not on.
[1:00:30] Speaker 1: Him he had three touchdowns yesterday at. FIVE i think
[1:00:34] Speaker 1: he has seventeen to two ratio right, now and he's
[1:00:37] Speaker 1: just an elite. Player AND i, listen it was pretty
[1:00:40] Speaker 1: scary in the offseason if you were, McVeigh if you were,
[1:00:43] Speaker 1: anybody if like his back was. Hurting now maybe they
[1:00:46] Speaker 1: knew it was gonna be, okay BUT i was pretty.
[1:00:49] Speaker 1: Concerned and, honestly he's shown zero indication that has had any,
[1:00:55] Speaker 1: impact and he's been. Awesome they're, GOOD i, mean they're
[1:00:57] Speaker 1: they're really, good And DeVante to go With puka and that,
[1:01:01] Speaker 1: defense they're gonna be a. Problem so to, me the
[1:01:04] Speaker 1: one thing they have if their guy is, healthy they
[1:01:08] Speaker 1: can beat anyone in the LEAGUE afc as, well like
[1:01:11] Speaker 1: they can win The Super bowl Because stafford's that, good
[1:01:13] Speaker 1: their defense that, good their coaching staff's that. Good so,
[1:01:16] Speaker 1: YEAH i wouldn't discount them at. All i'm recording this
[1:01:19] Speaker 1: before The sunday night game or The monday night game
[1:01:22] Speaker 1: When baker's, Playing but it does, feel at least based
[1:01:26] Speaker 1: on the, odds that he still GOT i don't know
[1:01:28] Speaker 1: if some uphill climb to make to, me he'd be
[1:01:30] Speaker 1: the betting favorite as of whatever week we're. In week,
[1:01:34] Speaker 1: seven But holmes ahead of, Him Josh allen's ahead of,
[1:01:37] Speaker 1: him seems a little crazy to. Me who's the blame
[1:01:41] Speaker 1: for The? Raiders Mark davis has been making all the right.
[1:01:43] Speaker 1: Moves Either pete is now a wash Like, belichick or
[1:01:46] Speaker 1: your Boy spytech is out of his. League, WELL i
[1:01:55] Speaker 1: think a couple of things can be TR i get
[1:01:57] Speaker 1: another question question for the. Pod do you think there's
[1:01:59] Speaker 1: any Chance, Brady Spy tech And pete can turn The raiders?
[1:02:02] Speaker 1: AROUND i feel like they need a better quarterback and
[1:02:04] Speaker 1: two good defensive. Backs, well against The, Chiefs crosby got,
[1:02:09] Speaker 1: Injured bowers is. Out gino's been. Atrocious he's had a horrendous.
[1:02:14] Speaker 1: SEASON i do think we need to acknowledge That Chip
[1:02:17] Speaker 1: Kelly higher is kind of. Insane they're paying him three,
[1:02:21] Speaker 1: years six million dollars a. Year he's had an eighteen
[1:02:25] Speaker 1: million dollar. Contract if you go back a couple of years,
[1:02:27] Speaker 1: ago his his last year AT, Ucla Dante, moore who's
[1:02:34] Speaker 1: now like a potential number one overall, Pick Heisman trophy
[1:02:38] Speaker 1: level guy At oregon looked a. Troach chip hasn't been
[1:02:41] Speaker 1: good at offense for many many. Years you, go what
[1:02:44] Speaker 1: About Ohio. State, well last year was a little. Rocky
[1:02:48] Speaker 1: he had one of the worst game plans you'd ever
[1:02:49] Speaker 1: seen Against, michigan a team that had no business Beating
[1:02:52] Speaker 1: Ohio state when he has three elite wide, receivers TWO
[1:02:56] Speaker 1: nfl running, backs AND nfl quarterback and he got worked
[1:03:00] Speaker 1: By Wink martindale and then they got hot in the.
[1:03:02] Speaker 1: Playoffs but like this version Of chip is the guy
[1:03:06] Speaker 1: that has been in recent, memory he's not very. Good
[1:03:10] Speaker 1: but here's the, Thing Pete carroll has proven he will
[1:03:12] Speaker 1: fire offensive. Coordinators he's Fired, bevil he's Fired. SHOTTENHEIMER a
[1:03:17] Speaker 1: lot of guys got fired on the offensive side of
[1:03:19] Speaker 1: the ball When Pete carroll was In, seattle a lot of.
[1:03:22] Speaker 1: Guys SO i would Say chip is in major. Trouble
[1:03:26] Speaker 1: six million dollars a, year six million dollars a year
[1:03:29] Speaker 1: for Chip. Kelly that to me is an agent With
[1:03:34] Speaker 1: brady And pete, like, well just. Insane, honestly it didn't
[1:03:36] Speaker 1: even make that much. Sense Pete carroll And Chip kelly
[1:03:39] Speaker 1: that they feel like polar. Opposites Pete carroll's much more
[1:03:43] Speaker 1: like nineteen, eighties, nineties you, know use a full, back
[1:03:47] Speaker 1: couple tight, ends slam the. Ball chip is like this more,
[1:03:51] Speaker 1: modern spread it out offense that doesn't really. Work and
[1:03:55] Speaker 1: let's face, it like his quarterback, situation Like gino was
[1:03:59] Speaker 1: up and down the last couple. Years, yeah he didn't
[1:04:01] Speaker 1: look like. This when can The jets fans say enough is?
[1:04:07] Speaker 1: Enough Aaron glenn seems like he's. Drowning he calls beat
[1:04:11] Speaker 1: reporters questions about fields remaining the starter stupid and then
[1:04:15] Speaker 1: seven days later benches him against The. Panthers is it
[1:04:18] Speaker 1: time to pull the, plug since the idea of this
[1:04:21] Speaker 1: current administration picking the next franchise quarterback is questionable at
[1:04:25] Speaker 1: best when you are a really shitty team and The
[1:04:29] Speaker 1: jets have been, really really. BAD i know they have
[1:04:31] Speaker 1: some good individual, players BUT i would say the same
[1:04:34] Speaker 1: thing about The. RAIDERS i think you could say the
[1:04:36] Speaker 1: same thing about whoever takes over The. Dolphins you got
[1:04:40] Speaker 1: to take a deep breath and kind of let it play.
[1:04:43] Speaker 1: Out this season is really, ugly and you could argue
[1:04:46] Speaker 1: he feels completely over his head because there aren't that
[1:04:50] Speaker 1: many parallels from being a coordinator and being a head.
[1:04:52] Speaker 1: Coach when he was with The, lions he did not
[1:04:55] Speaker 1: have to deal With Jared goff at. All remember early
[1:04:58] Speaker 1: on In Jared goff's tenuere like you might get. Benched
[1:05:01] Speaker 1: that was Not Aaron glenn's. Problem everything falls on. Him
[1:05:04] Speaker 1: Brees hall wants a trade, request that's his. Problem like
[1:05:08] Speaker 1: When Jamison williams over the last couple of years would
[1:05:11] Speaker 1: cause some problems with The, Lions like that Wasn't Aaron glenn's.
[1:05:13] Speaker 1: Issue so you go to the seat And Aaron glenn's
[1:05:16] Speaker 1: been around football his whole, life elite, player, scouted, coach
[1:05:21] Speaker 1: there's nothing that can prepare you for that. Seat and
[1:05:23] Speaker 1: here's the other. Thing he's being inserted in that seat
[1:05:26] Speaker 1: in an organization that's a fucking. Debacle SO I i
[1:05:32] Speaker 1: think you just got to give him a couple of
[1:05:33] Speaker 1: years like he we have seen some one and done,
[1:05:36] Speaker 1: guys The Nate, hacketts The Tom. Sulas i've Given Aaron
[1:05:41] Speaker 1: glenn a little more. Leeway he's earned that at least
[1:05:44] Speaker 1: with his previous. Stops and to, me if you are LIKE,
[1:05:48] Speaker 1: i this sounds, crazy but let's say they go on in.
[1:05:52] Speaker 1: Seventeen let's let's say they go one in. Sixteen, Like
[1:05:56] Speaker 1: i'm just taking a deep breath and letting him get
[1:05:59] Speaker 1: a couple years. NOW i do want to know If
[1:06:02] Speaker 1: I'm woody Or woody's kid who was pounding the table
[1:06:05] Speaker 1: for justin. Fields have you guys been watching football like
[1:06:09] Speaker 1: in what? World like one, year five, million no, issue two,
[1:06:13] Speaker 1: years forty million dollars thirty? Guaranteed who are we bitting?
[1:06:17] Speaker 1: Against who had the idea in a free agency? MEETING
[1:06:22] Speaker 1: i want to know the position. COACH i want to
[1:06:24] Speaker 1: know the. COORDINATOR i want to know THE gm and
[1:06:25] Speaker 1: the head coach who signed off on this ship because
[1:06:28] Speaker 1: this is. Nuts we all like the. Guy he has
[1:06:31] Speaker 1: been an impressive young man in THE, nfl has handled
[1:06:34] Speaker 1: a lot of weird stuff, well a high character. GUY
[1:06:38] Speaker 1: i am pro justin fields the human. Being as a,
[1:06:40] Speaker 1: player he's. Atrocious he's not very. Good so whose idea was?
[1:06:45] Speaker 1: This that's What i'd want to know If I'm woody
[1:06:47] Speaker 1: or one of his crazy. Kids he's always Playing. Madden
[1:06:51] Speaker 1: if THE nfl did a redraft next, year who would
[1:06:54] Speaker 1: be the top five picks in the, draft and who
[1:06:57] Speaker 1: do you think would be the first non quarterback off the?
[1:06:59] Speaker 1: Board how many quarterbacks would be taken before other positions
[1:07:03] Speaker 1: start to get. SELECTED i think we've done this. Before
[1:07:07] Speaker 1: there'd be a lot of quarterbacks come off the board
[1:07:10] Speaker 1: because you get to a guy like you'd be better
[1:07:12] Speaker 1: off With Dak prescott for the next five years than
[1:07:14] Speaker 1: you would Be Micah, Parsons Max, crosby who's like a
[1:07:19] Speaker 1: young you, Know Trent williams And Lane johnson are old
[1:07:22] Speaker 1: but like their version of that player, wharfs you, Know Joe,
[1:07:25] Speaker 1: alt guys like. THAT i would take the second tier
[1:07:29] Speaker 1: quarterbacks over those. Guys SO i think we've done this.
[1:07:34] Speaker 1: Before it's probably ten quarterbacks before a non quarterback gets.
[1:07:37] Speaker 1: Picked AND i do think it would depend on who's
[1:07:41] Speaker 1: picking to what player got, picked. RIGHT i mean a
[1:07:45] Speaker 1: lot of the old school guys would go defensive or offensive.
[1:07:48] Speaker 1: LINEMAN i do think there would be some new school
[1:07:50] Speaker 1: guys that might take Like Justin jefferson Or Jamar, chase
[1:07:55] Speaker 1: which to me would be. Crazy but let's say if
[1:07:57] Speaker 1: you're Taken Jamar chase in a, draft, like it's hard
[1:07:59] Speaker 1: for me to blame. You do you Think Zach robinson
[1:08:03] Speaker 1: is over his head as an Nfloc he just doesn't
[1:08:05] Speaker 1: seem to have awareness to adjust and tries the same stupid,
[1:08:09] Speaker 1: plays that ridiculous outside zone run that kept the forty nine.
[1:08:12] Speaker 1: Ers the forty nine ers kept blowing up in, particular
[1:08:16] Speaker 1: especially in crucial. Situations is he holding the team back
[1:08:19] Speaker 1: or are we just flat out screwed due to bad quarterback.
[1:08:22] Speaker 1: Choices i've always said, this there is like an instinctive
[1:08:27] Speaker 1: nature to play, calling and it's pretty easy to watch
[1:08:31] Speaker 1: a natural play caller and watch a guy who is
[1:08:34] Speaker 1: not cut out for the. Job AND i would say
[1:08:37] Speaker 1: The Zach, ROBINSON i mean, one The Atlanta falcons are
[1:08:42] Speaker 1: just pretty chaotic. Place you, KNOW i think this all
[1:08:47] Speaker 1: stems back to the way the process of The cousins
[1:08:50] Speaker 1: And Michael pennick's signing slash selection. Happened is pretty unprecedented
[1:08:58] Speaker 1: because they have this new, administration but THE gm is
[1:09:01] Speaker 1: staying and they fell in love With Michael pennix like
[1:09:04] Speaker 1: three weeks before the. Draft that's just not a good
[1:09:07] Speaker 1: process where it's like THE, gm you should have had
[1:09:11] Speaker 1: some knowledge if you're drafting eighth of let's really study
[1:09:15] Speaker 1: these quarterbacks when you guys get hired. Before we Give
[1:09:18] Speaker 1: Kirk cousins all this money and we could have had
[1:09:22] Speaker 1: a more well rounded team and just gone in With,
[1:09:24] Speaker 1: pennix who Now cousins is just twenty seven point five
[1:09:28] Speaker 1: million dollars is a backup, quarterback which is. INSANE i
[1:09:32] Speaker 1: just think, that you, know the outside zone. THING i
[1:09:35] Speaker 1: have no problem with Giving beijon more. TOUCHES i honestly
[1:09:39] Speaker 1: think they didn't give him enough touches because part of
[1:09:42] Speaker 1: the outside zone is like The niners are blowing it.
[1:09:44] Speaker 1: Up all it takes is him to one cut back
[1:09:45] Speaker 1: and have a forty yard. RUN i thought that they
[1:09:48] Speaker 1: got away from him too, often and, YEAH i MEAN
[1:09:53] Speaker 1: i it just hasn't gone. Well it just and the
[1:09:58] Speaker 1: reality is when you're Ahem, dorus whoever you hired as
[1:10:02] Speaker 1: your coordinator to be the, baby to like make the
[1:10:05] Speaker 1: offense their, baby you were gonna be pretty beholden to
[1:10:09] Speaker 1: and his. Success like if you hired the Next Kyle,
[1:10:12] Speaker 1: Shanahan sean, McVay kevin, O'Connell you'd be in really good
[1:10:15] Speaker 1: shape and your offense would be. Potent but if you
[1:10:18] Speaker 1: hired a guy who just, struggled And zach has had
[1:10:21] Speaker 1: some good, moments but it does feel like he's had
[1:10:23] Speaker 1: more bad moments than good, moments you're on the fast
[1:10:27] Speaker 1: track to all getting. FIRED i Think atlanta is in major.
[1:10:30] Speaker 1: TROUBLE i think the job status for everyone in that
[1:10:33] Speaker 1: building is up in the. Air if they don't make the.
[1:10:36] Speaker 1: Playoffs it would not shock me at off every single
[1:10:39] Speaker 1: human got, fired coaching, staff in front office if they
[1:10:42] Speaker 1: end up eight to nine and The bucks cruise to
[1:10:44] Speaker 1: eleven or twelve wins and teams like the, NIGHT i,
[1:10:47] Speaker 1: mean you just lost the forty nine. Ers who's you know?
[1:10:53] Speaker 1: Best two defensive, players once at home with a torn
[1:10:55] Speaker 1: acl and the other has a cast riding a scooter
[1:10:58] Speaker 1: round up in a suite that's who beats you and
[1:11:01] Speaker 1: you Have Bjon, Robinson Drake london And Kyle. Pitts how
[1:11:04] Speaker 1: does that? Happen pennix was, Bad penix did not look,
[1:11:09] Speaker 1: good looked really. Bad And i'm A penis, guy but
[1:11:11] Speaker 1: that was what the hell's going on? There can you
[1:11:15] Speaker 1: make the point that part of the reason the forty
[1:11:18] Speaker 1: Nine ers are still competitive is the fact That shanahan
[1:11:21] Speaker 1: is a. Badass like The, falcons they have way more
[1:11:24] Speaker 1: talent and the fact That niners are currently winning is pure. Coaching,
[1:11:30] Speaker 1: YEAH i mean last, night AND i said this immediately
[1:11:34] Speaker 1: after the game IS i think the hardest part in,
[1:11:38] Speaker 1: football and every coach talks about this from high school
[1:11:41] Speaker 1: obviously to college and the pros is culture is a
[1:11:46] Speaker 1: tone being set by the leadership from a head coach
[1:11:49] Speaker 1: to the star, players and the forty Nine ers relative
[1:11:52] Speaker 1: to The, falcons like it's not a fair, fight man for,
[1:11:56] Speaker 1: man guy for. Guy you could argue The falcons were
[1:11:58] Speaker 1: a better team going into the game just individual, players
[1:12:02] Speaker 1: but football is a team game led by the coaches
[1:12:05] Speaker 1: and the coordinators and THE nfl more than high. School
[1:12:09] Speaker 1: in college is a lot about the x's and no's
[1:12:13] Speaker 1: and inspiring The jimmy's and The joe's to play within the.
[1:12:16] Speaker 1: Scheme and What kyle And Robert salah and they did
[1:12:22] Speaker 1: was just a. Masterclass kyle's had some incredible wins in
[1:12:26] Speaker 1: his tenure as a, coach but he's had some really good.
[1:12:28] Speaker 1: Teams you, know Said he's had teams that are star
[1:12:31] Speaker 1: studded with all pros and high priced. Guys when you're
[1:12:34] Speaker 1: Missing Fred warner And Nick bosa and you can Take
[1:12:37] Speaker 1: Tatum bethoom and some of these random, rookies some slot
[1:12:44] Speaker 1: Receiver lucas or slot, Corner it's, like what is going
[1:12:47] Speaker 1: On Mac. Jones it's pretty. Nuts and meanwhile they're dealing
[1:12:52] Speaker 1: with the eighth overall pick In, Pennix Drake, london the
[1:12:55] Speaker 1: fourth overall, Pick, beijon the eighth, Pick Drake, london the
[1:12:59] Speaker 1: seventh pick or eighth. PICK i, mean it's just the
[1:13:01] Speaker 1: how is this? Happening and the answer is. Simple those
[1:13:04] Speaker 1: people are over their head that they're not good. Enough
[1:13:09] Speaker 1: AND i Think Raheem, morris Like Kyle, shanahan would love
[1:13:11] Speaker 1: to Have Raheem morris on his. Staff If Robert sala
[1:13:14] Speaker 1: becomes the head coach of The titans or The Arizona
[1:13:18] Speaker 1: cardinals this. Offseason it would not stun me at all
[1:13:20] Speaker 1: if they all get. Fired he Hires Raheem morris to
[1:13:22] Speaker 1: be his defensive, coordinator but, like that's probably what he
[1:13:25] Speaker 1: is and there's nothing wrong with, that Asked. Roberts. Sol
[1:13:28] Speaker 1: he's making five six million dollars a. Year same thing
[1:13:30] Speaker 1: With Vic. Fangio some people are just not meant to
[1:13:32] Speaker 1: be head coaches because it's really. Hard i'm not acting
[1:13:36] Speaker 1: LIKE i could do every, role just like most of you.
[1:13:38] Speaker 1: Listening there are certain roles that a lot of us
[1:13:41] Speaker 1: could not. Do we'd be, overwhelmed couldn't, focus you, know
[1:13:44] Speaker 1: the details would get lost in. Translation we would. Fail
[1:13:48] Speaker 1: and it's no different being a quarterback in THE, nfl
[1:13:51] Speaker 1: being a being a coordinator in THE, nfl definitely being
[1:13:54] Speaker 1: a head coach in THE. Nfl there are certain guys
[1:13:56] Speaker 1: that are not, qualified or let me rephrase, that that
[1:13:59] Speaker 1: are qualified on. Paper but it's like. Academia you could
[1:14:03] Speaker 1: give me a lot of theories on a. Whiteboard let's
[1:14:04] Speaker 1: get out in the real, world supply. Demand give me
[1:14:07] Speaker 1: all that. Bullshit can you go sell this ice to An?
[1:14:09] Speaker 1: Eskimo can you create a business based on these, widgets
[1:14:13] Speaker 1: because if you, can't, LIKE i don't give a shit
[1:14:14] Speaker 1: what you teach me in this. TEXTBOOK a lot of
[1:14:17] Speaker 1: guys can talk, football can you, know sell you on a,
[1:14:21] Speaker 1: vision but, like can they execute it with the actual
[1:14:23] Speaker 1: team and their coaching staff in a? Building and the
[1:14:26] Speaker 1: answer clearly is no. Question what If kyle decided to
[1:14:30] Speaker 1: Draft Mac jones at third overall instead Of Trey lance
[1:14:34] Speaker 1: the small sample, Size max looked pretty damn good Running kyle's.
[1:14:37] Speaker 1: Offense at least he would have gotten somewhat of a
[1:14:40] Speaker 1: return on the third overall. Pick that's an incredible. HYPOTHETICAL
[1:14:46] Speaker 1: i think he would have been good enough That Brock
[1:14:47] Speaker 1: purty never, happens AND i DON'T i don't know Because
[1:14:53] Speaker 1: Mac jones is not as good As Brock purdy because
[1:14:55] Speaker 1: he can't. Move but he definitely is better than the
[1:14:58] Speaker 1: guy that we saw in New ing in the last
[1:15:00] Speaker 1: couple of. Years because in this offense that is very quarterback.
[1:15:04] Speaker 1: Friendly kyle schemes guys open when the running game. Works
[1:15:08] Speaker 1: it's just it's a great place to be a quarterback
[1:15:10] Speaker 1: in the. Offense most of these guys that play in this,
[1:15:12] Speaker 1: offense they rave about. It because it it's easier on.
[1:15:16] Speaker 1: You they're Not kyle's not asking you to carry the,
[1:15:19] Speaker 1: ship and Mac jones can't carry the. Ship DO i
[1:15:22] Speaker 1: think he would have been a quote unquote bust BECAUSE
[1:15:25] Speaker 1: i think and, listen he's resurrecting his, career but, anytime
[1:15:28] Speaker 1: like to The, patriots he was a. Bust, right he
[1:15:31] Speaker 1: did not get a contract, extension he was. Gone they
[1:15:34] Speaker 1: traded him to The. Jacks DO i think he would
[1:15:37] Speaker 1: have been from being? Drafted is he still currently the?
[1:15:41] Speaker 1: Starter i'm probably fifty to fifty on, that BECAUSE i
[1:15:44] Speaker 1: do think he has some physical limitations AND i, think you,
[1:15:51] Speaker 1: know part of what made pretty special over a couple
[1:15:54] Speaker 1: course of a couple of years was his athletic ability
[1:15:57] Speaker 1: and his ad. Libability now it also has got him
[1:15:59] Speaker 1: in trouble, Recently like he's throwing some bad picks scrambling.
[1:16:02] Speaker 1: Around but Mac jones cannot do that even when he's.
[1:16:04] Speaker 1: Healthy so and the forty Nine ers don't exactly have
[1:16:08] Speaker 1: the greatest offensive line in the league, history so he'd
[1:16:10] Speaker 1: be getting hit a. LOT i definitely, think like you,
[1:16:14] Speaker 1: Know Trey lance didn't make it the year. Three he
[1:16:16] Speaker 1: was traded before week one to The. COWBOYS i think
[1:16:18] Speaker 1: Mac jones would have played out several, years like probably
[1:16:21] Speaker 1: four years. Now are they picking up a fifty year
[1:16:23] Speaker 1: option or they signed him a new. EXTENSION i do
[1:16:26] Speaker 1: Think kyle can be pretty, stubborn so he would have
[1:16:28] Speaker 1: probably done some of that if it was just going.
[1:16:30] Speaker 1: Decently but, like there's a big difference between competing to
[1:16:34] Speaker 1: win eight nine games and Like purdy was a starting
[1:16:37] Speaker 1: quarterback as the teams win a lot of. Games so
[1:16:39] Speaker 1: could Mac jones have done? THAT i definitely wouldn't say
[1:16:42] Speaker 1: he couldn't do, it BUT i wouldn't just feel confident
[1:16:45] Speaker 1: that it would look eighty percent of what party. Was
[1:16:49] Speaker 1: now that being, said he has been awesome this. YEAR
[1:16:51] Speaker 1: a ton of respect for, him AND i think he's
[1:16:54] Speaker 1: in his perfect. Role what Mac jones should be is
[1:16:58] Speaker 1: like the highest paid backup in THE, nfl and he
[1:17:00] Speaker 1: can play in the league for a long. Time Whatever
[1:17:02] Speaker 1: Chase daniel made forty fifty million, Dollars matt could make
[1:17:05] Speaker 1: one hundred and. FIFTY a lot of questions About Pete
[1:17:22] Speaker 1: carroll and The. RAIDERS i don't REALLY i don't really
[1:17:26] Speaker 1: know what to. SAY i don't think he's just gonna
[1:17:30] Speaker 1: get fired after one. Year you can't just keep firing
[1:17:32] Speaker 1: people year after year like that is just Not this
[1:17:35] Speaker 1: isn't like when you're twenty eight trying to find a
[1:17:38] Speaker 1: serious girlfriend and you just go on a lot of.
[1:17:39] Speaker 1: Dates you can't really operate like that with a. Coach
[1:17:43] Speaker 1: you Hire Pete, Carroll you've got to give him a
[1:17:45] Speaker 1: couple of years to kind of do what he. Does.
[1:17:47] Speaker 1: Now if it doesn't, work it doesn't. Work if his
[1:17:49] Speaker 1: magic is, gone his magic's. Gone but you can't just
[1:17:52] Speaker 1: seven games in because it's not going that. Well be
[1:17:54] Speaker 1: like we got to get rid of for Who you're
[1:17:56] Speaker 1: gonna fire him for? What coach and everything that he
[1:18:00] Speaker 1: just spent, nine, ten twelve months. Doing do you just
[1:18:04] Speaker 1: erase all that from the building and start from. Scratch
[1:18:07] Speaker 1: SO I i think you've got to be very careful
[1:18:09] Speaker 1: about Doing And i'd say the same thing About Aaron,
[1:18:11] Speaker 1: glenn like give him a couple of. YEARS i saw
[1:18:14] Speaker 1: he used to have a podcast on the. Volume now
[1:18:16] Speaker 1: he's With Barstool, tbob who played FOR lsu for a.
[1:18:19] Speaker 1: While he went ON i saw On instagram this epic.
[1:18:21] Speaker 1: Rant he's just so tired of all these college coaches
[1:18:25] Speaker 1: being paid fifty sixty seventy million dollars to go. Away
[1:18:29] Speaker 1: it's like he's AN lsu grad and he played AT
[1:18:32] Speaker 1: lsu and like their. Heyday like With Les, MILES i
[1:18:34] Speaker 1: think he was a freshman on a national championship. TEAM
[1:18:37] Speaker 1: i think his senior year he went back to the national.
[1:18:39] Speaker 1: Championship they lost To. Bama but he was on some
[1:18:41] Speaker 1: elite teams with elite. Players and his whole take was,
[1:18:44] Speaker 1: Like i'm not cool with Paying Brian kelly fifty million
[1:18:46] Speaker 1: dollars to go? Away how about, This Brian, kelly fire
[1:18:49] Speaker 1: some coaches and figure it to bleep? Out, like how
[1:18:52] Speaker 1: about you get back to like a ten to eleven
[1:18:55] Speaker 1: win team like you had At Notre. Dame it's what
[1:18:56] Speaker 1: we're paying you to. Do so is this gonna be? Miserable,
[1:18:59] Speaker 1: yeah but we're not paying you to go play golf In.
[1:19:03] Speaker 1: Florida that's not gonna happen. Here we're paying you to,
[1:19:05] Speaker 1: work paying you to. Coach and the reason he got
[1:19:07] Speaker 1: ninety million dollars is for a, decade you won a
[1:19:10] Speaker 1: lot of games In Notre. Dame so now you're AT.
[1:19:11] Speaker 1: Lsu figure it. Out AND i was, like you know,
[1:19:14] Speaker 1: WHAT i kind of, agree like are we just gonna
[1:19:16] Speaker 1: pay all the like the one thing With James. Franklin
[1:19:19] Speaker 1: James franklin had been there over a, decade so it's, like,
[1:19:22] Speaker 1: yeah you kind of. Know Brian kelly is a year. Four,
[1:19:24] Speaker 1: now DO i think he's in? Trouble? Yes DO i
[1:19:26] Speaker 1: think he's going? Well of course. Not BUT i also do, understand,
[1:19:29] Speaker 1: like what are we doing? Here can't we just give
[1:19:33] Speaker 1: him like five or six or seven years to, like
[1:19:36] Speaker 1: we're paying him to try to figure this out and
[1:19:38] Speaker 1: maybe he's gonna, fail but we gotta pay him no matter,
[1:19:40] Speaker 1: What so we might as well attempt to see, if
[1:19:44] Speaker 1: like maybe year five this pops and maybe. Doesn't But
[1:19:48] Speaker 1: i'm not paying him to go play country club golf
[1:19:52] Speaker 1: six days a week for three. Years why are there
[1:19:58] Speaker 1: so many terrible purgatory franchise in THE? Nfl it seems
[1:20:02] Speaker 1: like every year the top ten teams drafting is just
[1:20:05] Speaker 1: a different combination of the same ten. Teams is it
[1:20:08] Speaker 1: bad ownership for an office or really just bad juju
[1:20:11] Speaker 1: certain franchises can't. Shake just look at The giants game
[1:20:15] Speaker 1: against The. Broncos it's an incredible choke, job but they
[1:20:19] Speaker 1: have at least three of these a. Season uh you,
[1:20:25] Speaker 1: KNOW i obviously ownership plays a, role, Right but at
[1:20:29] Speaker 1: the end of the, day most of these owners are
[1:20:31] Speaker 1: Not Dan snyder that they're not telling you who to
[1:20:34] Speaker 1: draft in the first round after you've done all the
[1:20:37] Speaker 1: work and they show up ten minutes before round, one
[1:20:40] Speaker 1: grab a cheeseburger and some, sushi and then when your
[1:20:43] Speaker 1: pick comes up number seven, overall they pointed a, name they,
[1:20:46] Speaker 1: say that's who you're. Picking most of these guys legitimately
[1:20:50] Speaker 1: hire people and let them. Cook and most of these
[1:20:53] Speaker 1: people are just completely over their. Head let's look at The.
[1:20:56] Speaker 1: Lions is The ford family a complete? Joke you would
[1:21:01] Speaker 1: have said for most of my? Life hell, yeah their
[1:21:03] Speaker 1: ownership is an. Embarrassment and then what they. Do they
[1:21:07] Speaker 1: hired two guys who are good at their. Jobs and
[1:21:10] Speaker 1: what has happened to The lions ever? Since they've won
[1:21:12] Speaker 1: and they've become a real. Franchise the drafts in the,
[1:21:15] Speaker 1: twenties the players in the first round the second round
[1:21:18] Speaker 1: made it to AN nfc championship game for the first
[1:21:20] Speaker 1: time in thirty. Years that, again recording this before The
[1:21:23] Speaker 1: monday night, game is going to compete again to win
[1:21:25] Speaker 1: the division like they're just. Real but what did they
[1:21:29] Speaker 1: do anything different or did they just hire the right? People,
[1:21:32] Speaker 1: so LIKE i saw The giants With Jerry reese And Tom,
[1:21:34] Speaker 1: coughlin like they were a pretty stable, franchise and then
[1:21:38] Speaker 1: ever since they've just gone through, gms they've gone through
[1:21:40] Speaker 1: head coaches and spent at, Debacle like The, titans are
[1:21:43] Speaker 1: they an? Embarrassment, well they are, now and they were
[1:21:46] Speaker 1: Before vrabel when they Had brabel And John, Robinson like
[1:21:48] Speaker 1: they felt like a pretty stable. Operation AND i think
[1:21:51] Speaker 1: players that played there would tell you that. Too SO
[1:21:57] Speaker 1: i think in a weird, way there's just a huge
[1:22:00] Speaker 1: element of. Luck do you hire the right? Guy and
[1:22:03] Speaker 1: sometimes like you deserve criticism for being cheap on, hire you,
[1:22:08] Speaker 1: know forever The, Chargers like what do you think you're
[1:22:10] Speaker 1: gonna get when you're Hiring Brandis day or you, Know Anthony,
[1:22:14] Speaker 1: leonard these guys they're not going to be head coaches,
[1:22:16] Speaker 1: Anywhere like you, deserve you, know all the criticism that
[1:22:21] Speaker 1: comes your way from the, fans the, media. Whoever. Right
[1:22:24] Speaker 1: but a lot of times it's LIKE i think The,
[1:22:26] Speaker 1: giants like we're Hiring Joe shane And Brian, daball two
[1:22:30] Speaker 1: guys from The bills like pretty normal. HIRES i remember
[1:22:34] Speaker 1: When Mark davis Hired ziegler And josh. McDaniels i'm, LIKE
[1:22:37] Speaker 1: i probably would have hired them. Too that forty nine ers.
[1:22:40] Speaker 1: Tried The colts, tried, like it's not that crazy of a.
[1:22:42] Speaker 1: Hire now it, failed and looking, back it's easy to
[1:22:45] Speaker 1: Go god they. Suck but at the TIME i was,
[1:22:47] Speaker 1: like IF i Was Mark, DAVIS i would have hired him.
[1:22:51] Speaker 1: Too what's going on With lafleur's play? Calling running an
[1:22:56] Speaker 1: end around on third and five that loses two, yards
[1:22:58] Speaker 1: then Asking Jordan love to convert a fourth and. Sixth
