[0:00] If you are somebody who has felt like you feel too deeply or
[0:04] you're too much or you just have like a lot of passion for life,
[0:09] today I hope to speak to a certain group of people, which
[0:13] won't be everyone, but if this is you, please stay.
[0:18] I just feel like it's so important that we stop being so
[0:22] hard on ourselves for what we're feeling or what we're
[0:25] experiencing or what we're going through.
[0:33] Hi, it's Kayla Rose. This is skinny to Bing.
[0:36] If you're new here, hey, if you're not new here and you're
[0:40] part of our community from Spotify or Apple podcast and now
[0:44] like YouTube, which is crazy with over 200,000 subscribers
[0:48] across platforms, literally feeling so grateful.
[0:51] Thank you for always returning. Seeing the Spotify raft like
[0:55] made my fucking life just like seeing people really listening
[1:01] to skinny dipping and returning. And today I hope to speak to a
[1:06] certain group of people, which won't be everyone, but if this
[1:11] is you, please stay if you feel like you are literally the one
[1:16] healing your lineage or if you're the type of person to
[1:21] like be hard on yourself in general or like be hard on
[1:25] yourself for your mood or your mindset.
[1:28] And your mind is filled with these shoulds.
[1:31] I should do this. I should feel this.
[1:33] Today I'm going to be talking about a realization I had
[1:37] literally in the last like 48 hours before I left Indonesia
[1:44] and returned back home from my three-week trip.
[1:47] When I realized this, I thought to myself, wow, there's so many
[1:51] other women out there that genuinely feel so hard on
[1:58] themselves when they are going through an emotional process or
[2:01] they're very sensitive or they're very sensitive to what's
[2:04] going on in the world. And we can be really hard on
[2:07] ourselves and that just in turn makes it worse and makes a
[2:11] spiral and it doesn't feel good. So I feel like the story is so
[2:16] important for that reason because there is no wrong time
[2:20] to be going through an emotional process.
[2:23] And I feel like I was raised in toxic positivity of like, it's
[2:28] fine, you're fine, deal with it and get over it.
[2:31] It's OK. And it's like, wow, like I just
[2:35] feel things so much more deeply than that.
[2:39] Like it is so much more serious to me, even though it's like not
[2:44] serious at all. Like don't get me wrong, there
[2:46] is just a part of me that cares a lot.
[2:48] And I feel like if you relate to this, this story may really
[2:53] help. And that's why I wanted to tell
[2:55] it. And you know, I definitely like
[2:57] to talk about things after I've processed them.
[3:00] And I feel like I took a couple weeks to process this.
[3:03] But I also do feel like it is like really vulnerable for me.
[3:06] So bear with me. That's why I like, love to talk
[3:09] about like the spirituality and the science and like my research
[3:12] because I feel like that is so analytical for me.
[3:14] And there is a little part of me, Scorpio rising that like
[3:17] does struggle to talk about these kind of things.
[3:19] But I really want to do it. Like I really want to continue
[3:23] to like show up and be visible in this way to hopefully inspire
[3:26] other people to do the same because we all have so much to
[3:30] share and our stories can help each other and teach each other.
[3:33] Let's bring it back to the childhood.
[3:35] OK. So I feel like I was raised in
[3:38] it's fine. You're OK Be good and just be a
[3:41] a good girl. And I feel like this led me to
[3:44] kind of be a stranger to myself because I was a stranger to my
[3:48] emotions and I didn't really know what I was feeling or why I
[3:53] was feeling it because I never approached that part of myself
[3:58] with curiosity. And this led me to be a stranger
[4:02] to myself because the truth is like these feelings and emotions
[4:05] that arise aren't always truth. Like I'm not going to sit here
[4:08] and be like all my feelings are valid and they are always true.
[4:11] I don't know about that. Like sometimes there are other
[4:14] things going on that are creating an emotional state or
[4:19] like how I feel in my body or if I've like eaten that day.
[4:22] Like there's just so many factors and it's not always my
[4:25] like capital T truth. Even though feelings aren't
[4:30] always truth, they are always indicators of our state of being
[4:36] and it shows us our unmet need and shows us what need we need
[4:41] to meet for ourselves within ourselves.
[4:45] It's just like a mirror, you know, our emotions are a mirror
[4:49] and they can show us how they feel, even if they're not like
[4:53] Capital T always truth. They're always trying to guide
[4:56] us and show us and tell us something about our state of
[4:59] being or how our heart is that day or what's alive inside of us
[5:04] that day. And I feel like I was taught to
[5:07] ignore those things. And then they would bubble up
[5:09] and like, other reactions. And that's something that I
[5:12] like, really worked through in my early 20s.
[5:15] And I'm like, honestly, really proud of myself because I feel
[5:18] like I worked through, not saying that I'm always perfect
[5:20] because I'm not, but I feel like I really worked through, like,
[5:24] reactions that I wasn't proud of or like anger, like upset or
[5:28] like, yeah, I'm really proud of myself.
[5:30] I was just talking about that with my boyfriend today.
[5:32] And what I will say for anybody, like beginning that journey of
[5:35] like emotion, no regulation, if you can relate to that in any
[5:39] way. Like I kind of wrote down the
[5:40] three things that I feel like I was learning in my early 20s to
[5:45] help myself emotionally regulate.
[5:46] And that's number one, genuinely like facing, like looking at it
[5:51] and like, stop running away or like distracting yourself from
[5:54] like, what you're feeling. Just genuinely like naming it,
[5:58] like facing it #1 #2 naming it like literally being like, this
[6:04] is what I'm feeling right now. Like I can be really fucking
[6:07] honest with myself. Like I feel like that was one of
[6:10] the biggest things. And then finding a way to like
[6:13] step away if I feel myself getting triggered or if I feel
[6:17] myself getting sad. And that's like this underlying
[6:20] emotion that I'm experiencing. Just allowing myself to find a
[6:25] way to express, maybe through dance, through art, through
[6:29] writing, through working out, through movement, whatever it is
[6:32] for you, like through talking to a friend, like just getting it
[6:36] out verbally, through coming on the podcast and alchemizing that
[6:39] shit. Like, yeah, I feel like
[6:41] expression is the biggest thing. It's 444.
[6:45] It's 444 on the clock. That's little me also.
[6:49] And still, even though I have spent a lot of time being able
[6:55] to really feel and experience and express my emotions in a way
[7:01] that feels healthy and just productive for my body, I still
[7:07] sometimes feel this emotional guilt creep in.
[7:10] Like why am I feeling this way right now?
[7:13] Why am I feeling this way again right now?
[7:15] Why am I dealing with this again right now?
[7:18] Like I feel like some of you like get this so deeply right
[7:22] now. And I, whoever feels me right
[7:24] now, like thank you. I appreciate you also owning
[7:28] that and that helps me feel seen.
[7:32] But I feel this emotional guilt creeping that says, like, why do
[7:36] I feel this way? And that shame and that guilt,
[7:39] like, spirals and really doesn't help us.
[7:42] In fact, I feel like it just makes us feel worse about
[7:45] ourselves. And like, then that creates
[7:47] these patterns of self sabotage. Yeah.
[7:51] It's really not for the best. Like I feel like being hard on
[7:54] yourself is sometimes more detrimental than whatever it is
[8:00] that you're doing that you're making yourself feel bad for
[8:03] emotional guilt that says why are you feeling this way?
[8:07] Do I have to be feeling this right now?
[8:09] This really isn't a convenient time like this spiraling
[8:14] thought. It like, reminds me of like
[8:16] inside out to with like anxiety and like, anxiety is just this
[8:19] crazy like person and they keep like hitting the button.
[8:24] Yeah, that's, that's what I see within myself when the spiraling
[8:29] starts to happen. And I'm going to tell you now a
[8:32] little story about my last 48 hours in Indonesia.
[8:38] So basically I hosted a women's retreat with my friend and then
[8:43] we kind of continued to like slumber party and vibe and have
[8:47] so much fun afterwards. And everything was just so fast
[8:54] and like go, go, go, you know, like so much Yang energy,
[8:58] movement, action, momentum, excitement.
[9:03] And I love that and I feel like so many things kind of a rose
[9:06] within me because I was doing all this deep work that I wasn't
[9:10] able to fully face her process. So I feel like right before I
[9:13] left, things started to slow down.
[9:15] I started to spend more time with myself, by myself and in
[9:19] that thing started to arise and I was feeling some like
[9:22] sensitive feelings about relationships in my life and
[9:29] like family relationships in my life.
[9:31] And that's just family relationships, right?
[9:34] Like the people that are closest to us in our life karmically are
[9:38] the ones that are going to be the mirror and trigger us.
[9:40] Because when we are triggered, we're faced with actually like
[9:43] our own shadows and what we need to work through.
[9:46] So anyway, always grateful when things do come up for that
[9:51] reason, because the shadow work is this transformative work that
[9:55] allows us to actually create the life we want to create for
[9:58] ourselves, right on the other side of what we're scared of
[10:01] facing or scared of feeling like is actually what we want is on
[10:06] the other side of that. So me and my mom get into a
[10:10] fight and the thing that she said that deeply triggered me
[10:13] the most that I want to share that is relevant to this video
[10:16] is when I was being like, I'm having these emotions.
[10:19] These things are coming up for me.
[10:21] The response was, I don't know why you're feeling this way on
[10:25] your last day in Bali. And that just like triggered the
[10:31] fuck out of me because I was like, wait, like I already am
[10:37] shaming myself for that. Like I already am feeling that
[10:40] way. I don't want to be feeling this
[10:42] way right now. But we can't help an emotional
[10:44] processes come up, especially if things have been really busy and
[10:49] boom boom, boom all over the place.
[10:50] And then you get a moment to yourself and it just kind of
[10:53] like hits you, like how you feel like you can't help when you
[10:59] feel that. And when things come up and
[11:00] arise and I was already feeling that way.
[11:03] So that just like brought up feelings of like, I don't know,
[11:07] just being like, wow, am I not allowed to feel the way I want
[11:09] to feel? Like, is it too much for you?
[11:11] Like just knowing that I do hold a lot of depth of emotion and
[11:17] like not everybody feels that exact same way.
[11:21] I was kind of really sad about it, honestly.
[11:24] Like I was just kind of like had a good little cry.
[11:27] And then my friend Madison walked in and I told her what
[11:30] happened. And her response literally was,
[11:33] thank God you're able to experience this right now and
[11:37] alchemize while you're here. Like she was like, Bali is such
[11:42] a mirror and it really does bring up so much for so many
[11:48] people. And I hadn't really had a big
[11:50] moment like that yet. And so many other people had on
[11:54] the trip and friends of mine. And yeah, it just was like, oh,
[11:58] it's my turn now. And I'm like really having this
[12:01] experience and actually this is exactly what I'm supposed to be
[12:05] experiencing. And that's what clicked for me.
[12:08] Like I was like, wait, like it's not bad that I'm like
[12:11] experiencing this emotional process right now.
[12:13] It's actually like great. Like it's actually lit.
[12:16] Like it's actually exactly what I'm supposed to be experiencing.
[12:19] Because this is something that like my soul needed to work
[12:22] through and that reframe literally changed everything for
[12:26] me. Like it literally changed
[12:28] everything for me. And I feel the change within
[12:30] myself coming home and like seeing emotions arise within me.
[12:34] And then just being like, wait, like this isn't like a bad
[12:38] thing. Like this isn't a bad thing.
[12:39] And I don't have to like fight it.
[12:41] I just need to like observe it and like be curious with it and
[12:45] like sit with it and also feel it and express through it and
[12:48] also be deep with it. But then also like laugh about
[12:52] it and like not be deep at all. Like, I don't know, I just made
[12:55] me realize that I'm allowed to feel whatever I need to feel in
[12:59] this exact moment. And that fucking freed something
[13:04] within me. I'm, I'm deeply certain because
[13:08] coming back from that trip, like that was just a moment that
[13:14] clicked for me. So I had to share that with you
[13:17] guys today because I just feel like it's so important that we
[13:21] stop being so hard on ourselves for what we're feeling or what
[13:25] we're experiencing or what we're going through.
[13:27] And actually the best thing that you can do is just like thank
[13:31] those feelings for coming up and feeling safe enough to come up
[13:36] and show up and to not fear the death because it is actually a
[13:41] portal in to your dreams and what you want.
[13:45] Like I genuinely believe that. I genuinely believe when we move
[13:48] through the shadows, we up level.
[13:51] And then the other thing that Madison said in that moment that
[13:55] really clicked for me was she was like, sometimes we are the
[14:00] expression of our parents unexpressed.
[14:02] And I was like, wow, that is truly fucking profound, girl.
[14:05] I was like, I'm putting that in my podcast obviously, because
[14:09] I'm one to just feel so deeply. And then I look at my lineage
[14:12] and I'm like, oh shit, like I'm literally healing this part of
[14:15] this lineage that like never had the opportunity or never felt
[14:19] safe enough to like truly fucking feel and feel deeply and
[14:25] express. And wow, I'm so grateful that I
[14:29] get to be the one that feels deeply.
[14:32] Like the fact that I haven't cried in this podcast because I
[14:37] do feel it though. Like I feel a lot of emotions
[14:40] within me talking about this, but girl, I'm a crier, I'm not
[14:44] going to lie. And I love that about myself.
[14:47] Like I love that I feel deeply. I love that I alchemize it into
[14:50] our. I love that I write poetry and
[14:52] make music when I'm feeling something incredibly deep and
[14:56] the way that it flows out because it's meant to happen.
[14:59] Like, I'm just so grateful that that gets to be my experience in
[15:03] this lifetime. You know what I mean?
[15:06] And it's just like I realized I like being passionate, feeling
[15:09] deeply, like taking things to heart and being sensitive.
[15:14] Like that is like my gift. And I don't have to, like, shy
[15:17] away from it. And if this feels like you and
[15:19] you're still here, like you don't either, like it is Liz.
[15:22] Oh, Liz, no, you're home. Come here.
[15:29] So my take away here is feel fucking deeply, like truly from
[15:33] the core of your being. Like if you are the type of
[15:36] person to feel deeply, allow yourself to be that way.
[15:38] And if you used to be that way, but then you put Shields and
[15:42] guards up, like allow yourself to be free from the shackles of
[15:45] thinking that you should act a certain way and you should feel
[15:50] a certain thing in a certain moment.
[15:52] And knowing that, you know, the feelings aren't always truth,
[15:55] but they are always indicators. So we need to have those
[15:58] conversations with ourselves where we're just incredibly
[16:01] honest and be like, I'm not fearing this depth that I was
[16:05] meant to experience in this lifetime.
[16:07] Like, I'm not going to pass up this opportunity to live a life
[16:11] that is so deeply fucking rich because I make it that way
[16:15] because of the way that I see the world, because of my POV.
[16:21] Like, and also we'll say if you are somebody who experiences
[16:25] this depth of emotion, like just like a couple tips and I'm sure
[16:29] you have some for me. So like comment below or like
[16:32] comment if you relate to this or if you don't relate to this, or
[16:35] if you have a friend that you feel like relates to this and
[16:37] now you understand them better, like comment below.
[16:40] You know, like when you comment like a, it allows like new fun
[16:45] community members to find us. And also I get to see your cute
[16:49] faces in the comments and be like, hey, I love commenting
[16:52] back the first tip. And I'm literally coming up with
[16:54] these on the top of my head. Like I did not write these in my
[16:57] notebook. Like all my notes are done.
[16:58] Like I just felt like this was such a personal episode and I
[17:01] just like wanted to speak from the heart as much as possible.
[17:04] But the first tip that I would have is like createspace for
[17:07] boredom, Createspace for having space, like having space and
[17:12] time in your day. Because I feel like you need
[17:14] time to let your mind wander and process things.
[17:18] And if you're not letting yourself process, it's going to
[17:21] build up and you're also not going to have as clear of a
[17:24] channel to create your art from. That's why boredom and creating
[17:28] space in your schedule in your life is absolutely huge.
[17:33] And I feel like really helps with emotional regulation and
[17:35] also really helps with just being able to truly process and
[17:39] express because it also leads to inevitably being more creative.
[17:45] Like the only time you can be creative is when you feel like
[17:48] you have like nothing to do. Like you're just like, you can't
[17:52] like sit down and be like, this time of day.
[17:53] I'm going to be creative. Like no, you need to like
[17:56] Daydream and like imagine and like let your mind wander.
[17:59] And then you're like, I should do this thing.
[18:00] And then you start doing the thing and then like you're
[18:02] creating and you're alchemizing and it's just like, it's just
[18:05] like, really, that's it. My second tip, like obviously
[18:11] dream bigger. Like if you have this gift of
[18:15] deep feeling and this gift of just being a creative and an
[18:21] artist and expressing and feeling things and wanting to
[18:23] express them and alchemize them and share them and crave for
[18:28] yourself. Like if you are this type of
[18:30] person, you have an insane gift and that gift can take you
[18:36] places. Those gifts that you possess,
[18:39] feeling deeply, allowing yourself to have permission to
[18:43] do that, to be exactly who you are, to allow your sensitivity
[18:48] to be your fucking superpower. Like that ability will
[18:51] completely take you places. So allow yourself to dream
[18:56] actually as big as possible. Like dream big and then go
[19:00] bigger. OK?
[19:01] I feel like my final message for this episode is that whatever
[19:07] you're feeling, whatever you're experiencing, it's not wrong.
[19:13] There's nothing wrong with you or how you do things or how you
[19:18] experience things or how you feel things.
[19:22] And in fact, those things can actually be the gifts that
[19:31] create the romanticized, passionate, fully experienced
[19:38] life that so many of us want to live.
[19:43] I love you guys so much. Don't forget to comment, like,
[19:46] subscribe, follow. I'll see you guys next week.
