[0:00] Romanticize your life. Romanticize your life.
[0:03] But how? But how do you actually do it?
[0:06] Not in theory, but like technically in an actionable
[0:08] way. Like when you show up to your
[0:10] everyday life, how do you actually romanticize it?
[0:12] Because everybody's telling you to romanticize your life, but
[0:14] nobody is telling you how the fuck to actually do it.
[0:20] What is up, guys? I'm Kayla Rose, your host of
[0:23] Skinny Dipping, the podcast where we strip down and we dive
[0:26] in. Metaphorically, Yes,
[0:27] Metaphorically get your head out of your ass.
[0:30] No, but also literally, like if you want to actually go skinny
[0:33] dipping, like I'm your girl, like I'm down, I want to be in a
[0:36] lake butt naked. I want to be in the ocean and
[0:39] just casually take my bathing suit off when nobody sees.
[0:41] Like I want to be a free mermaid fairy.
[0:44] What's so wrong about that? Skinny dipping is for the
[0:47] girlies who love being creative, who they love inner exploration,
[0:51] who are really just on their path to being their most aligned
[0:56] self, who has the most integrity with what they want.
[0:59] If you guys are watching on Spotify right now, you'll see
[1:02] that I'm outside underneath the tree, truly in my element.
[1:06] It was windy before, but now it's just sunny.
[1:08] I'm beautiful and amazing. You're going to hear the birds
[1:10] in the back. And I just want to take you into
[1:12] this world as we talk about romanticizing our motherfucking
[1:15] life and how to actually do it because I have this episode that
[1:19] I've done in the past. So this is a follow up episode.
[1:21] I want to go over the last romanticize your life episode a
[1:25] little bit because a lot of people have found me from that
[1:28] TikTok that I made or from that podcast that I made.
[1:30] And whenever the universe or God or source or my spirit guides or
[1:36] my ancestors, whoever it is on my spirit team helping me out,
[1:41] whenever they push a video forth and show the world, for example,
[1:45] the romanticize your life video or they, you know, that video
[1:51] literally led to somebody sampling it and making a house
[1:55] song to it. I wanna actually play it in here
[1:58] at the end because I say in it, I'm like, romanticize your life,
[2:02] tap into your five senses, your touch, your taste, your smell.
[2:06] And it's like building up to this moment.
[2:08] And then it drops. I go, my life is fucking
[2:10] beautiful. Boom drops.
[2:13] And I feel like God or the universe or source, whatever you
[2:16] believe in, I believe in it all. I definitely feel like it pushed
[2:21] that topic, that piece of content, because it's something
[2:26] that I'm supposed to talk about. And I just feel like I begin to
[2:29] notice those synchronicities and those little nudges from the
[2:32] universe like keep doing this, keep going this way.
[2:35] And I feel like romanticizing your life is something that I am
[2:38] meant to talk about because I think before I got into healing
[2:41] and really going through the dark night of the soul and
[2:44] really exploring the tower moments of life and the more
[2:47] sticky stuck parts that I've talked a lot about in my
[2:51] podcast. I feel like before I was that
[2:54] person, like I feel like my gift since I was born was kind of
[2:57] being a sunshine, like a light. And now that I've unlearned how
[3:04] to be the performative version of that, like I, I'm not really
[3:07] the performative sunshine anymore.
[3:09] Like I do still resonate that I feel like I have this spark in
[3:13] the soul and this light within me that really makes others feel
[3:18] like their life is beautiful too.
[3:20] And I think a lot of my friends have said this to me that when
[3:25] they're around me, they really just do feel uplifted and seen
[3:29] and like life is romantic. Everything is romantic, in the
[3:33] words of Charli XCX. Like everything is romantic,
[3:35] everything is beautiful, like everything is art.
[3:38] And I feel like every time I talk about that, everyone really
[3:42] resonates and I really resonate. So I'm going to keep talking
[3:44] about it because why the fuck not?
[3:46] Before we get into stripping down and diving in today, make
[3:48] sure to go ahead and just follow or subscribe on Spotify.
[3:51] And if you want to share this episode on Instagram, tag me at
[3:54] Sundays KK at Skinny Dipping Diaries.
[3:56] It's all going to be linked below.
[3:57] But you know, when you share or you copy the link and you send
[4:01] it to a friend, it really does help the Spotify algorithm say,
[4:04] hey, people like this more people want to see it.
[4:07] And I think my goal for skinny dipping summer is just like more
[4:10] new homies in the community. So sharing really helps them.
[4:14] You know, I really appreciate you guys and love you guys.
[4:16] And you guys are my girls. You guys are my sisters, and I
[4:19] appreciate everything that we get to talk about together.
[4:22] Look at that wind confirmation. Do you hear that?
[4:28] OK, so let's get into it. The old episode of Romanticize
[4:33] your Life. I talked about how romanticizing
[4:35] your life for me was all about tapping into my senses and
[4:39] really getting grounded in my body because I'm the type of
[4:42] person. I'm a Gemini moon.
[4:43] If you know anything about astrology, I can be in my mind a
[4:46] lot. And the truth is, when we're
[4:48] really in our mind, when we're really in these upper chakras,
[4:51] when we have a lot of energetic energy bouncing around up here
[4:56] in our mind, you can literally feel that your energy is more
[4:59] concentrated and more gathered at the top of your head.
[5:03] And you may feel a lack of clarity.
[5:05] You may feel confused, you may feel overwhelmed, you may feel
[5:07] anxious. And that's just because the mind
[5:09] is really running the show. And I think to romanticize our
[5:12] life, we have to tap into the present moment.
[5:14] And in order to tap into the present moment, what we have to
[5:17] do is we have to tap into our body.
[5:20] We have to ground into our physical body.
[5:22] Because the truth is when you ground down into your physical
[5:26] body and you feel dropped in, you feel connected to your
[5:31] senses, you feel connected to your physical body, you feel
[5:33] present in your body. Because what happens, honestly,
[5:37] that I found is if people grew up with a lot of anxiety or they
[5:42] have certain types of trauma or, you know, they're just
[5:45] perfectionists or people pleasers, they're in their head
[5:48] a lot. And I feel like they develop, if
[5:52] you relate to this at all, people develop this trait of
[5:55] being in their head a lot because it wasn't safe to be in
[5:59] their body, maybe physically or maybe emotionally.
[6:02] People were mean in their households.
[6:04] There was, you know, verbal abuse going on.
[6:08] So they had to like hide in their head or also if they're
[6:11] just a really anxious person and maybe got a lot of social
[6:14] anxiety in school when they were younger, in elementary school,
[6:18] they may have created this world in their head that they always
[6:20] go to because of that anxiety and to escape it.
[6:23] And our brain, our monkey mind, you know, is really just always
[6:26] trying to protect us from discomfort.
[6:28] And because of that, we escape to our minds.
[6:32] So by dropping into our body, that's when we get to be
[6:37] present. And when we're present with the
[6:39] moment in front of us, that's when we can romanticize our
[6:42] life. So it's all connected, you see.
[6:45] So I think the quickest way to tap into your body is by tuning
[6:48] into your senses, right? Like what do you see around you?
[6:54] Can you name three things that you see, five things that you
[6:56] hear? You know, you've all heard that,
[6:58] but really, can you tap into your senses?
[7:00] Can you tap into, you know, you're drinking your morning
[7:03] matcha and you're just like saying a physical after it.
[7:08] You're like physically in your body and tasting and smelling
[7:12] how good it is. And you love this matcha because
[7:15] this matcha creates energy in your body and it connects to
[7:19] your energy body and just boosts your mood.
[7:21] It feels so good. And sitting in that presence
[7:24] with something so simple, tapping into your senses and
[7:27] having gratitude for something so mundane and so simple.
[7:31] This is the key to romanticizing your life, tapping into your
[7:35] taste when you're eating, you know that really yummy like like
[7:39] maybe you're having my go to right now is Mcconnelly's ice
[7:45] cream. That was like my go to in
[7:47] college like 8 years ago, but I'm bringing it back and every
[7:51] time I eat it, I'm like, this is so creamy.
[7:53] This is so good. Like and just actually
[7:56] appreciating it versus like ignoring what I'm eating and
[7:58] just watching TV and zoning out like that is unconscious.
[8:01] But I think to romanticize your life, it's to truly be conscious
[8:05] and be present with the exact moment in front of you and have
[8:08] this almost like endearing feeling towards whatever is in
[8:11] front of you, the person, the place, the object, the moment.
[8:15] By basically having this like, aw, this is so sweet and
[8:18] endearing and I may never get this moment back again.
[8:20] Like that energy is gonna create such a deep gratitude that is
[8:23] going to romanticize the most mundane things in your life.
[8:27] I really wanted to talk about how to get specific, right?
[8:32] Like what are actually specific things that you can do to
[8:35] romanticize your life? I'm going to tell you about the
[8:38] ways that I romanticize my life. And they're not, they're not the
[8:41] ways that you think because I've traveled the world.
[8:43] I've gone to South America, I've gone to Bali, I've gone to
[8:45] Europe. I love traveling because I feel
[8:48] like it makes the present moment so spectacular and so new.
[8:52] I think doing new things makes us really present.
[8:55] And when we're really present, we can romanticize in an easier
[8:58] way. But the truth is, I found that
[9:00] the deepest romantic connection I've had to my life where I look
[9:04] around and I'm like, everything is beautiful, everything is
[9:06] romantic. I'm so lucky.
[9:07] I'm so grateful. Those moments actually come from
[9:10] the most simplistic things. And I think traveling helped me
[9:14] practice loving the simplistic moments because in Europe, it's
[9:17] like, you know, your your cappuccino in the morning on the
[9:20] deck is just like the most perfect moment of the day.
[9:23] And I think traveling has taught me how other countries view life
[9:29] and how they see it as something as precious, and they should see
[9:33] the current moment as something they should be present with
[9:35] rather than just like scrolling on their phones or dissociating.
[9:39] So these are the specific ways I personally romanticize my life.
[9:44] I never feel like I romanticize my life more than when I'm on a
[9:47] walk with my dog. I'm born and raised in Maui and
[9:51] so whenever I walk outside, it is so green, so many plants, so
[9:58] many trees, so many butterflies, dragonflies, chickens, cats,
[10:03] deer, so many animals on my Rd. It's literally crazy.
[10:07] And I go on a walk with my dog and I just, you know, we'll
[10:10] start to notice maybe a certain color or maybe just start naming
[10:14] things I'm grateful for. And these are the moments that I
[10:17] feel so fucking in love with my life.
[10:19] It's the simplest moment of taking my dog on a walk that I
[10:22] feel like everything is romantic and magical.
[10:26] Another way that I love love to romanticize my life is I get
[10:30] this drink. I think they like use the Kin
[10:34] Euphorics drink and then add a couple things to it.
[10:37] But for the most part, I think it's the Kin Euphorics drink.
[10:39] I'm not sure which one, but I go to this coffee shop and I get
[10:43] their drink called Actual Sunshine and it's like a health
[10:46] tonic and it has like a bunch of vitamins in it and just a bunch
[10:50] of healthy stuff, but it has saffron in it.
[10:52] And saffron, people have said, is this like miracle plant for
[10:56] joy and happiness. And I swear to God, I feel it.
[10:58] Like saffron makes me feel so joyful, so happy, so lit up in
[11:03] my body. And I absolutely fucking love
[11:07] it. So I go to this coffee shop
[11:09] about 15, ten, 15 minutes away and I get my drink.
[11:13] I sit down, I journal my thoughts or I take it to go and
[11:17] come back home and work. And I'm like romanticizing my
[11:19] life because I'm getting my favorite drink ever.
[11:22] And I get my favorite sandwich too.
[11:24] Right next door. There's this chicken focaus,
[11:27] chicken focaus sandwich where the woman makes this like
[11:30] homemade focaution. It's just amazing.
[11:31] Like when I take a bite of out of that foca, I am truly
[11:34] romanticizing my life. And I get this combo of this
[11:38] saffron drink and this sandwich like multiple times a week.
[11:41] And for me, it feels like the greatest joy, but it's so
[11:43] simple, but it's so amazing. And that's how easy
[11:48] romanticizing your life can be. It's just like when you look at
[11:50] something, you're like, lucky me, like I get to do this right
[11:54] now. I went to Pilates with my
[11:56] friends and I was like, life is about going to Pilates with your
[11:59] girlfriends. It's true.
[12:02] Another thing that I love is farmers markets.
[12:05] Farmers markets just to remind me how cute life is.
[12:07] Like you see all the vendors selling their local products.
[12:10] You see the the thrift girlies like selling their thrift
[12:14] clothes like you see, like, you know, you got the like the
[12:17] sourdough girl like I love going to the farmers market.
[12:21] My boyfriend bought me the most beautiful smelling roses from
[12:25] the farmers market and I've been smelling them all week and just
[12:28] romanticizing my life, looking out the window smelling these
[12:31] roses and just thinking about how lucky I am to like have real
[12:34] roses that actually smell good. Because I think like homegrown
[12:39] roses actually have the most beautiful, amazing scent
[12:42] compared to like ones that you get from like Safeway or Whole
[12:46] Foods even. Like I don't think those smell
[12:48] good at all. But these roses are so
[12:50] incredible. And I'm like, how lucky am I
[12:52] that I'm in a community where I get to, like, have locally
[12:56] sourced ingredients and local flowers.
[12:58] And yeah, that just makes me romanticize my life so much when
[13:02] I tune into the simplicity of community and really connecting
[13:05] to my community. And farmers markets are one of
[13:07] the ways that I romanticize my life weekly.
[13:10] This is an ad for Better Help. So the girlies are stressed in
[13:14] the workplace, they are having these expectations of us to be
[13:18] these productivity machines and our bodies cannot take it.
[13:22] Workplace stress is now one of the top causes of declining
[13:25] mental health, with 61% of the global workforce saying that
[13:29] they're experiencing higher than normal levels of stress.
[13:33] And for me, that's why I love therapy because I think when you
[13:36] have a lot of stress going on, you need to have preventative
[13:39] care. You need to have somewhere that
[13:41] you go weekly to be able to move through your feelings and your
[13:45] stress and your emotions. So I feel like if you're in a
[13:48] sticky season right now, therapy is for you.
[13:52] With over 30,000 therapists, Better Help is the world's
[13:55] largest online therapy platform and has served over 5 million
[13:59] people globally. And it's convenient and it's
[14:02] online and you can literally switch therapists at any time.
[14:06] And I want to give you guys 10% off.
[14:08] As the largest online therapy provider in the world, Better
[14:11] Help can provide access to mental health professionals with
[14:14] a diverse variety of expertise. And our listeners of the show
[14:17] skinny dipping at 10% off their first month with
[14:19] betterhelp.com/skinny Dipping. It's also going to be LinkedIn.
[14:22] The show notes below that's Better help help.com/skinny
[14:26] Dipping wine and pasta is the easiest way to romanticize your
[14:32] life if you are not a sober queen.
[14:34] I feel like wine and pasta is just the perfect combo where I'm
[14:38] like, life is good live music. Going somewhere where there's
[14:42] live music is the ultimate romanticize your life.
[14:45] Yes, I want to dance in public with strangers.
[14:47] Like, yes, I want to pretend I'm the main character.
[14:49] Like, yes, I'm gonna like I was stumbling on the streets in
[14:52] Europe by myself when I was solo traveling last year and there
[14:55] was this band on the street and I'm dancing and taking videos
[14:58] and just enjoying myself and romanticizing my life and live
[15:01] music. Great way to romanticize your
[15:03] life. I think that's why people love
[15:06] live music is because it puts you into the present moment.
[15:08] It's activating your senses, which is, you know, parts of the
[15:12] components that I've been talking about on how to
[15:14] romanticize your life. What else?
[15:18] Listening to your favorite song while like putting the window
[15:21] down and putting your hands out the car and having this
[15:23] cinematic moment with yourself. Like I love playing the same
[15:27] song on repeat, like the entire week.
[15:31] I love it. I love listening to like my
[15:33] girly pop songs and driving. It just makes me so in love with
[15:37] life. I was listening to Addison's Ray
[15:39] Song, Money's everything pocketball, the sunshine, but
[15:44] and she's like, girls just want to have fun.
[15:46] And I'm like driving down the street being like I'm a girl.
[15:48] I just want to have fun and that's romanticizing your life
[15:53] and I love it. I think that's what we need
[15:55] right now. Like everything can feel so
[15:57] bleak if if we let it. And it's like we just got to be
[16:00] a little silly, a little playful, a little joyful.
[16:05] So those are specific things that I personally do, but I'm
[16:09] going to say that it's not about the actual act itself.
[16:12] Do you know what I mean? It's more about the feeling that
[16:15] you create. And that's what it really means
[16:17] to romanticize your life. I think when I think of the
[16:20] feelings, I think of whimsy. The feeling of whimsy where you
[16:23] just look around. I think of cinematic when you
[16:25] look and everything feels like a movie.
[16:27] I think about joy. I think about things feeling
[16:30] like glimmers. I feel like everything feels
[16:33] like I wrote. That's literally what I wrote.
[16:40] My best friend, his grandma Janie, who's like my favorite
[16:44] person in the world, Like she every time she takes a sip of
[16:47] water, sip of tea, a bite of food, she's like, and she's, you
[16:51] can tell she's truly present in that moment with her drink, with
[16:54] her food. She's having so much gratitude
[16:56] for it. And it reflects in who she is.
[16:58] She's like one of the most beautiful women I've ever met in
[17:01] my entire life. And yeah, just that feeling of
[17:04] like, and my best advice for romanticizing your life is treat
[17:08] it like a bit like if it doesn't feel natural to you and it feels
[17:11] like a little cringe, like, trust me.
[17:13] Like, I'm out here dancing, talking to myself, being in my
[17:17] own movie. I don't give a fuck if anybody's
[17:19] judging me. But I get that it can feel weird
[17:20] at first, but it is so freeing. Like, remember when you were a
[17:23] kid and you used to just like, run, run to the field and like,
[17:28] have a little acting moment or dance moment by yourself and
[17:32] you're in your own world? Like, I think we still crave
[17:34] that whimsy, that joy, that play.
[17:37] And I feel like if you can treat it like a bit, it's gonna be
[17:40] easier for you to get in this vibe of romanticizing your life.
[17:43] Like almost make it over the top, make it silly.
[17:45] Treat it like a fucking comedy bit and you will actually feel
[17:48] the effects. So I hope you guys liked this.
[17:53] I encourage you this week to do something that romanticizes your
[17:56] life. And if you want to post about it
[17:57] on the soul and progress community, that's a great place
[18:00] to just share about what it is you're doing to apply this
[18:03] knowledge from the episodes. There's the studio where we have
[18:06] breath work, meditations, EFT tapping.
[18:08] But I think my favorite part of the Soul and Progress app is
[18:11] literally like getting to see your guys's thoughts, your
[18:14] photos, your art, your sub stack articles.
[18:17] Like I love seeing what you guys create and your thoughts and
[18:20] your knowledge and your downloads that you received
[18:22] during the episode. So go ahead, join the Soul and
[18:25] Progress community. There's a 10 day free trial.
[18:28] Yeah. And also I used to have it that
[18:30] there are different tiers. There was like Tier 1, Tier 2,
[18:33] tier 3. Now it's just one tier because I
[18:34] want all the girlies to have access to the health reports,
[18:36] the astrology reports. We have everything in this
[18:39] community. And I just want it to be like
[18:40] one big sisterhood. So I dropped it down where it's
[18:43] $10 a month for literally everyone.
[18:46] And yeah, show me this week how you romanticize your life on the
[18:50] community or tag me on Instagram.
[18:54] What else? Anything else?
[18:56] I think the one thing that I would say before we leave, when
[19:01] I'm tuning in and listening to myself, is like romanticizing
[19:06] your life is a practice. And the more you practice, it's
[19:08] like a muscle. The more you strengthen that
[19:09] muscle, it's going to get easier and easier.
[19:12] And you're creating this new neural pathway where you see the
[19:14] world from not rose colored glasses in like a negative way,
[19:20] but rose colored glasses in a positive way where you still
[19:23] acknowledge like, yeah, the world's fucking scary.
[19:26] Like there's a lot of fucking shit going on.
[19:27] There's so much injustice and there's so much change that
[19:30] needs to happen. And at the same time, I'm going
[19:33] to fight for those things and I'm going to also fight for my
[19:35] joy and I'm going to fight for my peace.
[19:37] And I'm also going to like literally be so grateful for
[19:41] this present moment and romanticize it and love it and
[19:44] have gratitude for this moment in front of me because actually
[19:47] a lot of people can't do that. A lot of people don't have the
[19:52] privilege to do that. So I actually probably should.
[19:56] And through the liberation of yourself, through joy, through
[19:58] whimsy, you are actually freeing everybody around you for the
[20:01] systems that make us feel like we need to be miserable in order
[20:05] to. Be interesting or cool or
[20:07] whatever. And the truth is, the people who
[20:10] are my favorite people are the people who are just like willing
[20:13] to have fun and put themselves out there and do the damn thing
[20:15] and be silly. And those people are much
[20:18] happier than the people who are judging them.
[20:19] So romanticize your fucking life.
[20:22] Tap into your senses. Tap into the specific moment in
[20:25] front of you. Ground into your body.
[20:27] You want the quickest way to ground into your body Also
[20:30] because like I said, if you're in your head before, you want to
[20:32] be in your body to romanticize your life.
[20:34] It's like a prerequisite. What I really want you to do is
[20:37] close your eyes and bring all your attention into your feet.
[20:42] Bring your awareness to your feet and actually moving the
[20:46] awareness to your lower body and almost imagining that there's a
[20:49] white light around your feet and now you have groots growing into
[20:54] the center of the earth. And physically imagine.
[20:57] Your imagination is your connection to your spiritual
[20:59] source. So by imagining if you see
[21:01] visuals, great. If you don't, that's OK.
[21:03] Just feel that's OK too. Have sensations in your body,
[21:07] have your awareness shift. That's OK if you don't visually
[21:10] see. But if you do visually see,
[21:11] imagine roots growing to the center of the earth.
[21:14] The more you ground in, the more you recharge your battery to
[21:17] actually exist in these higher upper chakras of intellectualism
[21:21] and spiritual exploration. Like grounding in first is the
[21:25] key to getting to that zone. So do that first and romanticize
[21:30] your fucking life and listen to this song.
[21:33] I'm going to play a little snippet and then tag the rest
[21:36] below. Yeah, literally.
[21:38] This French EDM artist, I think he's French, made the song for
[21:42] my tick tock and I'm obsessed with it.
[21:44] Okay, love you guys, bye.
