[0:00] Guys, I am so incredibly excited to have these guests on today
[0:04] because, you know, I am so passionate about Women's Health,
[0:08] about hormone health, about my journey and how much that
[0:13] getting into contact with my body and my hormones and
[0:15] learning about my health and finding ways to create balance
[0:21] within myself has truly changed my life both mentally,
[0:25] physically and spiritually. And I am so excited to have two
[0:30] beautiful, beautiful, inspiring founders today.
[0:33] You guys know I love women in business.
[0:35] And this is Izzy and Sophie. I am so excited to have you guys
[0:39] on because I'm not an expert in this, but you guys have been
[0:42] working closely with experts and have made this your livelihood,
[0:46] your life, your brand, what you've created.
[0:48] So I'm so excited to pick your brain today about hormone health
[0:52] and Women's Health and what we can do to truly make this better
[0:55] for the women in our lives. Welcome to Skinny Dipping, the
[1:04] podcast, Izzy and Sophie. Hi girls.
[1:07] Hi, we're excited. I'm so excited to talk to you
[1:12] today. You guys found a daily basis,
[1:15] but with skinny dipping, we love to strip down and dive in.
[1:17] So I just want to get right into it.
[1:18] Why is this important? Like for you guys specifically?
[1:22] I feel like all of us, when we start a brand, we start a
[1:25] business, there's something in it that we created for
[1:28] ourselves, right? We create what we needed.
[1:32] I always say like our wounding is our wisdom.
[1:33] What we struggle with becomes our purpose.
[1:35] So for you, like, let's start with you, Sophie, Why the fuck
[1:39] is this important? Like, why is just hormone
[1:42] health, Women's Health? Why is it important for you?
[1:45] Is there something that came from your story?
[1:47] Let's just like get straight into it because this topic is so
[1:50] important, so understudied. Tell me.
[1:53] Yeah. And all of that, I think, I
[1:57] mean, for me, it is deeply personal and also it is for all
[2:02] the women around me. And I think that was the turning
[2:05] point was I'll share a little bit about my experience.
[2:08] But what it was really when I started to talk to the women
[2:11] around me and we were all having these shared challenges, I was
[2:15] like, we have to do something about this.
[2:16] I want to do something about this, So what?
[2:19] Were the what were like the main challenges that you were like,
[2:22] Oh my gosh, this friend and this friend and this friend and all
[2:25] these people in life. Yeah, so it was really in my
[2:30] 20s. I had been a athlete for my
[2:32] whole life. I was a competitive swimmer, A
[2:35] Division One athlete, and I'd really learned over and over
[2:39] again to override what my body was telling me in the pool, in
[2:44] the weight room, managing school, swimming.
[2:47] And I'd never really look inside until after swimming.
[2:52] And I started to have all of these symptoms crap up in my
[2:55] 20s. And a lot of that came from
[2:59] really trying to make up from that exercise.
[3:01] So running and under fuelling. And I started to get these
[3:05] symptoms like really severe cystic acne all over my face.
[3:09] You know, you're out there in the world you're trying to date
[3:12] and, and also all this like inflammation and this swelling
[3:16] and these really challenging unexplained GI issues.
[3:22] And I just, I couldn't ignore it anymore.
[3:24] They became so disruptive to my life that I started to just look
[3:30] in words. I was like, this is not, this
[3:32] can't be normal. So I started to look in words
[3:35] and I did some research. I started going to these
[3:39] specialists to try to figure out what was going on.
[3:41] I was going to the GI doctor and the dermatologist and they were
[3:45] doing their best, but they couldn't figure out what was
[3:48] going on. They weren't looking at the
[3:49] whole picture, which I think is a very common, you know, it's a
[3:53] very common storyline that we hear.
[3:55] And so they wanted to put me on lifelong IBS medication and
[4:01] chemical cream for my acne. And I knew that that there was
[4:05] something underlying going on. I've been in a really high
[4:08] performing body for my whole life so I knew something wasn't
[4:10] right and I so I started to do some research and while I did
[4:16] these symptoms just started to exacerbate and things like my
[4:21] nails started to deteriorate. I developed something called
[4:26] pika which maybe some people are familiar with.
[4:29] It's where you start to crave mineral rich things in your life
[4:33] that you shouldn't be consuming. So like wet concrete.
[4:36] So it smelled so good, I wanted to eat it.
[4:39] And that was the point where I was like, this isn't, this is
[4:41] not OK. So I went to the doctor and
[4:45] demanded a blood test. And I was like, I, I need to
[4:48] figure out what's going on. And it did turn out that I had
[4:50] really, really severe nutrient deficiencies.
[4:54] My ferritin, which is a component of your iron was at A2
[4:57] which is critically low, was deficient in vitamin D and zinc
[5:02] which is like. Crazy that you had to like,
[5:03] demand that. That is a story that I hear from
[5:06] so many of my friends, and woman's health is this energy of
[5:08] feeling like you have to go and demand to be seen for what
[5:14] you're experiencing. Yeah, And that was one of the
[5:18] things that I heard back when I finally kind of got brave enough
[5:21] and I had somewhat of a diagnosis.
[5:23] I was talking to women about like the gastro challenges and
[5:27] the acne. And that's what I was hearing
[5:29] back from. People were not my story, but,
[5:32] you know, their own version of a story.
[5:34] And what you were just saying was such a common through line.
[5:37] They're like, I'm not being listened to, something's not
[5:39] right, and I don't know where to get help.
[5:42] And so. Yeah.
[5:43] And and that that was really the catalyst for me was I want to
[5:48] create something that is really supportive along the lines of
[5:53] nutrition, which I know is a place where women really suffer
[5:56] is in nutrient deficiency because of the cycle that we go
[6:00] through every month and how demanding that is on our body.
[6:03] Yeah. No, thank you so much for
[6:05] sharing that bit of your story. And I really want to hear your
[6:08] story too, Izzy. But before we get into, I just
[6:10] want to like name a couple things for everyone as we're
[6:13] listening that are coming up, because I do really relate to
[6:17] the hormones being completely integrated with your experience
[6:21] with being a high performing athlete.
[6:23] The burnout, the stress, the intensity on your body and what
[6:27] that does over time, but also what that does to our minds over
[6:30] time. I I found it so incredibly
[6:32] interesting, Sophie, when you said that you were ignoring your
[6:37] body. That was a very interesting part
[6:40] of the story for me because I'm just like, that is the most
[6:43] relatable stepping stone that so many women can relate to is that
[6:46] feeling of just ignoring, ignoring, ignoring, ignoring
[6:49] what's happening. Is he like, what was your
[6:51] experience like? Really want to hear about all of
[6:54] ours because I think when we share our stories we're like
[6:58] shit, I'm not alone in this, thank God.
[6:59] Totally. Yeah, I think that just
[7:02] reiterating what both of you are saying, women are so often left
[7:06] out of the equation when it comes to health, and that's due
[7:09] to so many things. Obviously, we've been left out
[7:12] of the research, but we're also not educated about our bodies
[7:15] from a young age. And the my story really
[7:19] initiated from something that many women experience, which is
[7:25] pushing myself to the limit and my body rebelling and me not
[7:30] knowing why and trying to understand why and never getting
[7:35] answers from health professionals, doctors, these
[7:38] people that you trust. It's so overwhelming.
[7:40] There's so much information out there and we as women are
[7:44] constantly trying to figure it out without a clear direction.
[7:48] And for me, I had spent my whole life, I was also an athlete, but
[7:53] I struggled a lot with an eating disorder for most of my life,
[7:56] which many women have. It's not talked about him
[7:58] enough, but I had a really big issue with food and control
[8:02] around food and over exercising, under fueling, chronically
[8:07] stressed. I never was enough for myself.
[8:09] My whole teens and 20s. I was trying to be the best in
[8:13] my career. I was trying to be the best
[8:15] athlete. I was trying to be the skinniest
[8:17] person out there. And I was also on hormone and
[8:20] birth control at the time, from the age of 16 up until I got off
[8:25] of it when I was 27. That's a.
[8:26] Huge aspect of the hormone imbalance that so many of us are
[8:30] experiencing is from that experience of being put on that
[8:34] at a young age, at 1615 and not having really a choice or
[8:40] education or knowledge around it and just being like, here, take
[8:43] this once a day. And I did.
[8:46] Wow. Yeah, You know, and I think
[8:49] that. Birth control, such a taboo
[8:50] subject. There's so many people that are
[8:52] anti, there's people that are super pro and I think that birth
[8:57] control can be great. There are many amazing things
[9:00] that birth control has allowed women to experience.
[9:03] But at the same time, I think that for my personal experience
[9:07] with hormonal birth control, it was masking a lot of symptoms
[9:10] that would have otherwise bubbled up to the surface sooner
[9:14] because I was pushing myself. I was under chronic stress to
[9:17] the Max. I mean, I was not eating.
[9:19] I was training for Half Iron Men triathlons.
[9:23] I was not sleeping. I was drinking with like
[9:27] everything was so intense in my life that the birth control was
[9:31] masking the inflammation that was happening underneath.
[9:35] And when I got off of it, my body became a disaster.
[9:41] And I was so confused and felt so lost because I thought that I
[9:45] was healthy and I thought that I was doing all these things
[9:49] right. But it did not ever bubble up to
[9:54] the surface in the way that I thought it would.
[9:57] And my symptoms were I had stress fractures in my feet.
[10:01] My hair was falling out. I had insulin resistance, which
[10:05] made no sense because I was an athlete and eating very little
[10:09] food. And when I really dug into the
[10:12] data and the research and when I asked my doctors about this,
[10:15] they told me just to go back on birth control because I was fine
[10:19] on birth control and I did not want to do that.
[10:23] I wanted to really understand what was happening in my body.
[10:26] I'm lucky to have grown up in a household that really
[10:28] prioritized functional medicine and long term health.
[10:32] I knew about supplements, I knew about nutrition and how to
[10:35] support myself. I just maybe didn't do it all of
[10:38] my life because of the aesthetic pressure that is put on women.
[10:41] And that was always something that I bumped up against.
[10:44] So when I dove into the research and I started to understand this
[10:47] thing called the menstrual cycle, that it's by the way, not
[10:50] just about our period, that there are hormones at play that
[10:54] are very different from a man cycle and that how tied in
[10:59] nutrition and hormonal health is.
[11:02] When I learned about this, it was an aha moment for me.
[11:06] And when I was able to start to understand the cycle more and
[11:09] how it showed up in my body and how I was able to support it
[11:12] properly, the symptoms started to disappear and I was able to
[11:16] prioritize my health in a way that I wasn't able to before
[11:19] without knowing this information.
[11:21] Totally honestly, knowledge is such such power.
[11:24] Without understanding our biology, operating a system
[11:29] that's designed for men, how are we supposed to make health
[11:31] choices that are supportive to women?
[11:35] I'm just going to say. Snaps and mic drop, because that
[11:38] is literally the point of this entire podcast.
[11:41] I want to get into this aha formula.
[11:43] OK? We're going to talk to the body
[11:44] 1st and then we're going to talk about the mind and then we're
[11:46] going to talk about the spirit. Because something I noticed both
[11:48] of you saying was this holistic approach, right?
[11:51] It's this full activation of understanding what's going in
[11:55] our lives, what's going on in our body, what's going on, you
[11:58] know, even circumstantially what's going on in our stress
[12:01] levels, in everything that we're taking on, everything that we're
[12:06] carrying on our play. I relate so much to you guys in
[12:09] both of your stories of just taking on too much at a young
[12:12] age. I felt that so deeply, like I
[12:15] felt that I feel so much for my younger self every single day.
[12:18] Like the way that I pushed myself from school just to be
[12:23] like straight A's to like needing to get all the
[12:26] scholarships for college needing and to get into every single
[12:28] college. Plus like being in every
[12:30] musical, every doing dance 5 * a week.
[12:33] Like I was like an intense like athlete with dance.
[12:36] And I relate to this feeling of not even knowing myself, not
[12:40] even knowing who I was until all those things kind of started to
[12:44] leave at the same time as hormonal birth control, you
[12:47] know, stepping into college and then away from college and then
[12:50] out of hormonal birth control and stepping into my adult self.
[12:52] How that all happened at the same time.
[12:54] And, and yeah, I feel like when I look back at my younger self,
[12:58] I just, I'm like, oh, I want to just give her a hug and so much
[13:02] grace and just be like, take things slower.
[13:05] And I'm so curious. Like before we get into this aha
[13:08] formula, I'm going to call it of mind, body, soul for, you know,
[13:13] working with our health and working with our biology and
[13:16] getting into the biology of it. I really want to get into the
[13:18] science with you both. First, I want to get into the
[13:21] emotional aspect. What is it that you would say to
[13:24] a younger person dealing with something that you guys have
[13:27] experienced when you were younger and they're feeling
[13:30] frustrated, Maybe they're dealing with health symptoms
[13:32] that they have no idea where it's coming from, cystic acne
[13:36] that they feel like they can't control, like, and they're
[13:38] feeling maybe not confident or not themselves and they're
[13:41] struggling in this way. Or if you were to talk to your
[13:44] younger self, I'm just want to hear from both of you.
[13:47] What is it that you would say, like, on an emotional level,
[13:50] before we get into the formula, before we get into the biology,
[13:53] the science, what would you each say?
[13:56] I just feel like this is such a sweet moment because I'm
[13:58] thinking of our younger selves and like, you guys created this
[14:01] brand because your younger selves, like, needed that,
[14:04] especially younger women, like the world around hormones and
[14:08] birth control because it's so understudied and because that's
[14:10] such a big leap, you know, from teenagehood to adulthood and the
[14:16] puberty that we hit on the way. Like, I just feel like those
[14:19] ages are so important. And yeah, what do you.
[14:21] I just want to touch into that younger self real quick.
[14:24] For me, I think it would be that two things, one, you are enough
[14:30] and two, it is not your fault. I think that the system has
[14:36] been, it's challenging for women and there are reasons for that
[14:41] and we can get into that, but. Get into a girl if you want.
[14:44] Say. Say what you feel.
[14:45] This is the moment. This is the moment to say how
[14:48] you feel. I mean, women were I, I might
[14:51] have already said this, but women, women were literally not
[14:56] in the research. Well, our, our entire system has
[15:01] been built on a male default model.
[15:03] And so if you're not taught how to support yourself, how are you
[15:07] supposed to show up in a way that makes any sense?
[15:11] And we have a cyclical biology and men have a daily, we have a
[15:16] cyclical monthly biology and men have a daily cycle that is just
[15:20] so different. And so why are we trying to go
[15:23] head to head all of the time with someone who's totally
[15:27] biologically different, experiences the world different
[15:30] on a week to week basis? I think for me, if I would have
[15:35] known that at a younger age, I would have just given myself a
[15:37] break. I would have understood why I
[15:40] feel tired at certain places or I am hungrier and I don't have
[15:46] to beat myself up about it. It's this knowledge of
[15:49] understanding what progesterone can do or how estrogen makes you
[15:53] feel or how your brain might function differently.
[15:55] For me, it's a guidebook and it allows me to take a step back
[15:58] and slow down and appreciate my body because the female body is
[16:02] incredible. And without being educated on
[16:07] how it works, how are we supposed to appreciate
[16:09] ourselves? And I think for me, if I would
[16:11] have understood that, I would have had a lot less negative
[16:15] self talk. And judgment.
[16:18] Positive self-image. Yeah, that's so beautiful and I
[16:21] love that that it's not your fault.
[16:22] The system just wasn't designed, the research wasn't designed to
[16:26] support us. And I'm so grateful for people
[16:28] like you are stepping to into this industry and being like
[16:31] this is important. Sophie, what would you say to
[16:34] your younger self? Well, Amen to that.
[16:36] Our bodies are incredible. And I know that I spent a lot of
[16:41] time as a young person just really hating that I had to get
[16:46] a period every month and how inconvenient that was.
[16:50] And really wanting to just shut that off and just be able to
[16:54] just focus on what was right in front of me and not tap into
[16:57] that. And so I would have gone back
[17:00] and also said, or I would go back and say, you're also not
[17:03] alone. Because I think there can be an
[17:05] aspect of feeling really lonely in that age group because you
[17:11] don't feel quite as vulnerable to share about what's going on
[17:13] in your body. And you can have some of those
[17:16] insecurities. And so I think knowing that
[17:18] you're not alone is also really important, that other people are
[17:21] struggling along with you. And I hadn't thought about this,
[17:25] but at the time, I really wished I would have had more of the
[17:28] knowledge of what was going on underneath.
[17:30] I wish I would have understood my menstrual cycle.
[17:34] I've been really fortunate to have quite a regular cycle for
[17:37] most of my adult life. And that's such an incredible
[17:40] tool to know and to really get to know yourself and know what's
[17:44] going on in your body. It's just this clock that's
[17:46] taking you through every single month.
[17:49] And with how much power that gives me now and how much
[17:53] connection it gives me to myself now, I wish I would have had
[17:57] that at the time. And I haven't thought about this
[18:00] until just now. But the access that we have to
[18:05] research, although flawed with AI and we don't know where this
[18:11] is going to go, but the access to research now is also more
[18:15] available than just relying on doctors at that time when also
[18:19] financially getting help was not within my realm in my 20s, I
[18:24] couldn't go to the doctors that, you know, maybe could have
[18:28] helped me at the time. And so I really hope that
[18:31] there's more access now and also that the conversations we're
[18:36] having in this day and age, including this podcast right
[18:39] now, can be really supportive to that younger generation that's
[18:42] just getting going and learning about their bodies.
[18:46] I love it. Let's get into the biology and
[18:48] the body then. Let's, I mean, I've brought this
[18:50] topic to the podcast before, but it's been like over a year.
[18:55] Like it's been over a year. So we're going to need a
[18:57] refresher to hear a skinny dipping.
[18:59] We love science and we love spirituality and I love to
[19:01] combine the 2. So it would be so fun to talk
[19:04] about the science, the biology, and just teach people what you
[19:07] know and what has been helpful. Yeah.
[19:09] I'm like, OK girls, take out your notes.
[19:13] Going into starting this company, Sophie and I just
[19:15] learned about this and so when we first started Daily Basis, we
[19:18] partnered with an amazing board of functional medicine, doctors,
[19:22] nutritionists, OBGYN's and MD's who taught us so much more that
[19:28] we could have ever imagined about our own bodies.
[19:31] So we have also been on this journey of learning more and
[19:34] more as we are building, which has been incredible.
[19:37] And now I'm able to confidently speak about so much of this,
[19:41] which is. That's so cool and it's so
[19:43] amazing that you guys were like, we are bringing on experts
[19:46] because I am so the same where it's like you don't need to be
[19:49] the person that has to know everything and be the expert and
[19:51] everything. Like reach out to the people
[19:53] that can help you specifically. What did you guys work with?
[19:56] Women? Yeah.
[19:57] And Women's Health is our top most priority for everything
[20:00] that we put out in the world, so.
[20:02] I can share. Guys, I literally have chills.
[20:04] Like what you're doing is so important.
[20:06] You don't understand. Like because for me, like my
[20:08] hormone health was like everything like it, it just was
[20:13] affecting my, I was crashing out so much and struggling so much
[20:17] with my mental health. I literally was going to my
[20:19] therapist and I was just like, I, I don't understand what's
[20:22] happening. Why am I, I was like 23 or
[20:25] something. I'm 27 now and I was like, I'm
[20:27] just crashing out like. And she was like realized like
[20:33] after honestly a year of going to her because she's my
[20:35] therapist, right? She's not my OBGYN.
[20:38] She doesn't know about my cycle. But all of a sudden she was like
[20:41] Kayla, like are you like tracking your crash outs and how
[20:44] you're feeling with? Because I was struggling with
[20:47] really bad like PMDD and like struggling with honestly, yeah,
[20:51] crashing out right before my period and just apathy.
[20:54] And yeah, so I've really experienced it myself.
[20:57] So that's why I get chills even talking about this with you guys
[21:00] because I'm like, this is so important because the way it
[21:02] changed my life healing it. That's why I love talking about
[21:04] it with others because it's like I just with you guys like I'm
[21:08] the living, breathing proof that like getting in contact with
[21:11] your hormones and your body is life changing, especially for
[21:15] the mental health girlies. So yeah, let's get into.
[21:18] I'm so grateful you guys worked with specialists in this and you
[21:21] guys can now share it with. Us and what you experience PMDD,
[21:25] a lot of those symptoms are associated with nutrient
[21:29] deficiencies. And I can kind of walk the
[21:32] listeners through the cycle and what's happening with the
[21:36] hormones from a high level if and we all are learning this,
[21:41] obviously. So if you don't know it, don't
[21:43] feel bad. It's just we weren't taught it.
[21:46] The way that the cycle works is you start with, you have 4
[21:49] phases. So you start with menstruation.
[21:51] That's when you're losing blood and tissue.
[21:54] That one's a pretty obvious one to, to know when it's happening.
[21:58] And after menstruation, you have your follicular phase.
[22:01] And during your follicular phase you have estrogen is rising
[22:05] throughout that phase. It usually lasts around 14 days.
[22:08] It depends on the woman. It's it varies depending on your
[22:12] biology. But estrogen is rising through
[22:14] the first half of the cycle as your follicles are maturing and
[22:18] you're getting ready for ovulation where the egg is
[22:20] released and getting ready to be fertilized.
[22:22] So when you ovulate about 14 days into your cycle, you have
[22:27] this peak hormone level. Estrogen is at its highest, LH
[22:31] hormone is going, you're feeling amazing, you're energetic, your
[22:35] libido is super strong because you are literally biologically
[22:39] trying to get pregnant, and you also have a lot higher
[22:46] absorption of nutrients. The nutrient levels are
[22:51] different. That helps to support that
[22:53] estrogen rise and circulation coming into ovulation.
[22:56] Then the second-half of your cycle.
[22:58] So after that ovulation happens, you go into your luteal phase.
[23:01] Ovulation is that third cycle phase.
[23:04] Luteal phase can be the challenging one for a lot of
[23:07] people. However, as you learn more,
[23:09] you'll learn to love the luteal phase.
[23:11] That is when progesterone is rising throughout the month and
[23:16] progesterone raises your basal body temperature, so it actually
[23:21] creates higher energy needs. You're actually burning more
[23:24] calories during your luteal phase.
[23:25] It's why you might crave food. You might feel more tired, less
[23:29] capacity to take on things, stress, social energy.
[23:34] You might have a desire to turn inward, which you should always
[23:37] listen to because your body is trying to tell you something.
[23:41] And your progesterone basically continues to rise for the most
[23:44] part up into your next period. And this is cyclical and it
[23:48] happens every single month. And these two major dominant
[23:52] hormones, estrogen in the first half and progesterone in the
[23:55] second-half have totally different effects on the way
[23:58] that we feel. And so people who feel crazy on
[24:02] 1/2 of the cycle and amazing in the other, totally normal.
[24:07] It makes sense. It's literally the hormones
[24:09] inside of your body and getting your nutrition dialed is super
[24:14] supportive and helping balance it all out a little bit more.
[24:17] But that's kind of the. The cycle.
[24:18] Yeah, that's so thank you for like giving that because I know
[24:21] some listeners are going to be like, I knew that already and
[24:24] some are going to be like, I don't, but it's just important
[24:26] that we're all on the same page as we move forward together.
[24:28] So after knowing this information, like how do we work
[24:33] with this biology? Like what are the actionable,
[24:36] tangible tips and steps to actually work with the body?
[24:41] One of the things to know about what Izzy said that I think can
[24:45] be misunderstood sometimes is there is a lot of us have really
[24:50] extreme symptoms and that is not always normal.
[24:54] So what Izzy was explaining is that you have these fluctuations
[24:58] and some of the symptoms that come along with those, like
[25:01] you're talking about change in capacity, whether you're feeling
[25:06] social, that you're craving food, high energy.
[25:09] A lot of that is normal and a lot of that's a really great
[25:12] indication to that your cycle is happening and it's healthy and
[25:16] it's just a really great indication to yourself what is
[25:19] going on. But just a note too is that a
[25:23] lot of us do, you know, we do experience really extreme
[25:26] symptoms and part of what you're asking about is how do we work
[25:30] with it. And I think a part of that is
[25:32] understanding your baseline. So what is, and I don't like to
[25:36] use the word normal, but I think there is a, it is helpful in
[25:41] understanding what is outside of that range.
[25:43] So you know, if something is off versus what is within a realm
[25:47] that is your hormones operating, you know, functioning
[25:50] appropriately. And so part of really working
[25:52] with your cycle is understanding what is my baseline.
[25:55] Some people have really minimal symptoms.
[25:57] And so if you are tracking your cycle and you do know what's
[26:01] normal for you on a regular basis, then you can know if
[26:04] something's really out of range and then you can, you know, you
[26:07] can tackle that and try to find out what's underneath it.
[26:10] Yeah, first, I love that I'm like a step by step girl.
[26:13] So I always like bring you guys back from what you're saying.
[26:15] Great points it for everyone because that's just how I roll.
[26:19] But I literally love that number one is just knowing your own
[26:24] baseline. Because for example, for me,
[26:26] like I did before working with a hormone specialist, I did
[26:30] struggle with more PMDD. But then kind of after healing
[26:33] that and then after a little bit and other things coming up in
[26:37] life, I realized I needed a dynamic system.
[26:40] Like I needed a dynamic nutrient system that went with my cycle
[26:44] because I noticed I struggled before with PMDD.
[26:47] And kind of once I kind of, you know, worked with that and the
[26:50] ludial phase, my ovulatory kind of started to get a little
[26:54] charged. And I noticed that I was
[26:58] honestly like the Hulk. Like I know that's like so crazy
[27:02] to say, but that's literally an IFS therapy.
[27:05] We have like different parts and you like name different parts.
[27:07] And I swear to God, I have this part called the Hulk and the
[27:10] Hulk comes out during the ovulatory like all of a sudden,
[27:13] like I could throw a chair. I'm like, why do I have so much
[27:17] intense like fire in me almost to the point where like I'm
[27:21] already a fiery person. So having all that, like I do
[27:25] get a little bit angry, a little bit irritable.
[27:27] And it was crazy because I never really struggled with that
[27:29] before my ovulatory. But I mean, as life happens,
[27:32] things adjust and that's something I've been
[27:34] experiencing. So that's why I feel like
[27:36] understanding your baseline is everything.
[27:39] Because I knew like I was like, Oh well, I'm a fiery person, but
[27:41] that is like a little too off for me.
[27:44] Like that's not my baseline. And that's why I think having
[27:47] something that supports that ovulatory phase is truly
[27:52] incredible. And I don't really see anybody
[27:54] really doing that like you guys are doing that.
[27:56] Like I have not seen a brand supporting the ovulatory phase
[27:59] at all. If that fiery energy is not
[28:03] really disruptive and because of something foundational that's
[28:07] not right in your body, then it's a really great thing to
[28:10] harness. And I think that's what's really
[28:12] cool about it too, is we talk a lot about how to support our
[28:16] bodies so that they aren't feeling so that we're not
[28:19] deficient and we don't have low energy and we don't have
[28:21] symptoms, which is what Daily Basis is designed for is to get
[28:25] the, you know, the nutrients that you need at the right times
[28:28] of the month. But the flip side that's so cool
[28:31] is we also have these times of the month where you do have like
[28:34] surges of more energy and more focus.
[28:39] And it's and so if you know where you are, you can kind of
[28:42] plan your life around these periods of time and really
[28:46] optimize or at least really take advantage of how you're feeling.
[28:50] So, you know, if you are surging during that time of the month or
[28:55] you know, or the couple weeks before that, maybe that's a
[28:58] great time to be getting out and training really hard if that's
[29:02] what your body, you know, if that's something you're doing
[29:04] and you want to get outside and go for a big run, if that's your
[29:08] thing, then you kind of know, OK, I'm synced and I know this
[29:12] is going to happen and I can go optimize for that, you know, or
[29:15] go take advantage of it. Or, you know, maybe maybe you
[29:19] feel hugely motivated to tackle a project during that time.
[29:23] And I think the other thing to know when it comes to tie into
[29:26] nutrition and working with your natural hormonal rhythms,
[29:30] something that's really interesting about estrogen and
[29:33] progesterone is that they're not they're, they're metabolic
[29:36] signals, right? They're directly affecting how
[29:38] your body is absorbing and using and depleting key nutrients.
[29:43] So for example, when you are ovulating and you feel amazing,
[29:47] there's a reason for that. And also your body is doing a
[29:51] lot of awesome work there. Whereas maybe as you enter your
[29:55] luteal phase where progesterone is dominant, there could be some
[29:57] nutrient deficiencies there that can provide support to get you
[30:00] closer to that gap, kind of closing the gap so you're not
[30:03] experiencing these massive swings.
[30:06] And there's all kinds of examples that if you want I can
[30:09] get into, but that our, our supporting different hormonal
[30:14] phases at the different times to help your body's natural
[30:19] absorption of those nutrients. And it's, it's so helpful when
[30:23] you really understand it to have something that's just like a
[30:26] tool to lean on so that you feel a little bit more balanced
[30:29] throughout the month. Totally.
[30:30] I love that and I love that it's holistic.
[30:32] It's like, you know, what you're taking during your menstrual is
[30:36] supporting your ovulatory. Is that kind of what you're
[30:38] saying and what you're taking it all?
[30:40] It's all holistic and it's all, you know, working together.
[30:43] Let's talk about the nutrients because I actually don't know
[30:45] much about the relationship between nutrients and hormones.
[30:48] And obviously that is what daily Basis is about.
[30:51] For people who haven't heard about daily basis before, maybe
[30:54] just share about what the product is because guys, this is
[30:57] like it's really groundbreaking. I really think it's
[30:59] groundbreaking. Like I, I'm not just saying that
[31:02] like I, I just think the idea of having something that's a
[31:05] dynamic system and that you're taking different things for
[31:08] different times, but then they work together holistically and
[31:10] they're also supported by your incredible OBGYN's that you
[31:14] worked with and experts and created by people that genuinely
[31:17] care. Like it is groundbreaking.
[31:18] When I worked with my hormones, I worked a lot with like blood
[31:21] sugar things because my blood sugar was really effective, but
[31:24] I also feel like nutrients are a huge part of that as well.
[31:27] So I'm just so excited to learn more.
[31:29] So daily basis is designed in two, two parts and you just
[31:35] heard Izzy talk about the there she goes designed in two parts.
[31:41] And Izzy just I'm going to start with Replenish.
[31:46] There you go. So Izzy just shared with you
[31:50] about the four phases of the menstrual cycle, But the way
[31:54] that we designed the product is around the two major hormonal
[31:57] fluctuations. So since menstruation and
[32:00] ovulation are these short periods of time, the key part
[32:04] was really to optimize nutrition based around the major estrogen
[32:07] rise in the first half of your cycle and then the progesterone
[32:10] rise in the second-half of your cycle.
[32:12] So replenish in that lovely red box is designed to support the
[32:18] first half of your cycle. So that's starting on day one of
[32:21] your period and you take that once a day until ovulation.
[32:26] So that's roughly 14 days and the whole system is designed to
[32:31] provide a really robust multivitamin.
[32:33] So the things that we need all the time, really great
[32:36] foundation Replenish. Some of the examples of
[32:39] nutrients that are more dominant in there are things like iron
[32:43] and zinc that you're losing during menstruation.
[32:46] So replenish is all about building your system back up
[32:50] from that depletion during menstruation and then really
[32:53] great for circulation and a really healthy ovulation.
[32:57] So those first two weeks you're really replenishing and then
[33:00] you're moving towards that building place mid cycle for a
[33:03] really healthy ovulation. And then the second phase is
[33:08] balance, which is in the beautiful gold box.
[33:12] And balance is really there to support that phase of the cycle
[33:16] where progesterone is really dominant.
[33:19] And so in there, you're still gonna have a really robust
[33:22] foundation, but you're also gonna have some key like herbs
[33:25] and botanicals that are really supportive for PMS symptoms with
[33:31] a lot of that inflammation that comes that Izzy was talking
[33:34] about in the second-half of the cycle.
[33:36] And what are some of those do that you have in there?
[33:39] There are so many ingredients in this.
[33:42] They are. It is so supportive.
[33:45] Some of the symptoms that you were talking about, I can give
[33:47] some examples. Yeah, DMVD is a great one.
[33:51] Well, it's not a great one. It's.
[33:53] Not it's actually a terrible terrible.
[33:55] It's actually. A terrible.
[33:57] It's terrible, but it's very common.
[34:00] A great one to talk about because it's common, yes.
[34:04] Exactly, so many women have it or if they don't have full on
[34:07] PMDD they have increased anxiety or mood challenges leading up
[34:11] into their cycle. A lot of times it's linked to a
[34:14] vitamin D deficiency or a vitamin B deficiency as the key
[34:19] ones. Folate is a big one as well that
[34:21] can impact mood. And the really powerful thing
[34:25] that we put in daily basis is an amino acid blend, which most
[34:29] supplements don't have in them, especially the daily Maltese
[34:33] don't have in them. And amino acids help a ton with
[34:37] serotonin production, which is what progesterone actually
[34:40] inhibits. Progesterone decreases your
[34:43] ability to make serotonin in the same way that it's making it
[34:46] earlier on in the cycle. And so having those added amino
[34:50] acids in there. Also your diet, you can do this
[34:53] via food as well. Sophie and I are big fans of
[34:57] Food First methodology. So having eating things that
[35:02] have higher amino acids in them per high protein is going to be
[35:07] super supportive for mood as well.
[35:08] In addition to taking them B vitamins super supportive for
[35:12] mood and anxiety and energy levels, which is often lower
[35:15] during that time. And that vitamin D is also just
[35:18] critical and most of us are deficient in vitamin D, whether
[35:21] you're a woman or a man, Women are usually more deficient, but
[35:25] it's pretty, it's a pretty powerful one.
[35:28] And making sure that it's the right form of vitamin D is also
[35:31] really important because there's lots of different types of these
[35:34] vitamins out there. And not all of them are doing
[35:36] the the best job at actually absorbing into your system and
[35:40] allowing your body to use them correctly to actually be
[35:42] effective and help with the symptoms.
[35:44] Let's talk about that because I'm actually like can be a
[35:47] supplement skeptic for sure, like especially with absorption
[35:51] and everything. And that's why immediately when
[35:52] I started taking these, I was like, I already knew the fact
[35:55] that they weren't a pill. I already knew that you guys
[35:57] knew what you were doing 100% with the absorption yeah Cuz I
[36:01] can be like a skeptic with supplements like with the body
[36:03] and then with the supplements like.
[36:05] How do we make sure that supplements like are actually,
[36:07] like, working? Yeah.
[36:09] He was. Sophie was a supplement skeptic
[36:11] before he started doing anything.
[36:13] So I'm gonna let her take this one.
[36:15] That's true. Chime in about what
[36:17] bioavailability means and all of that.
[36:19] OK, Yeah, bioavailability teach us.
[36:21] I love it. I will say too, yes, I was also
[36:25] a major supplement skeptic and really raised to believe that if
[36:32] you're not getting all of your nutrition through your food,
[36:34] you're doing something wrong. And I, I think I will also
[36:38] reiterate that Izzy and I do believe that Food First is
[36:43] really, really important. If you're not nourishing your
[36:45] body through food, it doesn't matter what supplements you're
[36:48] taking, your body's really going to suffer.
[36:52] So one of the things though that we did that we understand about
[36:56] that is that you need to be getting a lot of complementary
[37:01] nutrients at the same time in order for your body to absorb
[37:05] the nutrients that it requires. So, and, and also in addition,
[37:10] when we're thinking about food and really getting the nutrients
[37:13] we need through food, you can have a very functioning body,
[37:17] like no leaky gut where your body's doing a great job of
[37:20] absorbing nutrients. But the reality also is about
[37:23] our food system in that the density of the food that we're
[37:27] now eating, even if we're paying attention to what's on our
[37:30] plate, getting a lot of diversity, the density of those
[37:33] nutrients in food nowadays is also really limited.
[37:36] And that's just due to farming practices and shipping our food
[37:39] across the world, which is great in some regards, but really
[37:43] challenging when it comes to getting the nutrients that you
[37:46] need through food. So that's why we also do believe
[37:50] that supplementation is a fabulous tool.
[37:52] But when you look around a lot of supplements, like you're
[37:54] saying, don't have the complementary nutrients in
[37:58] there, specifically vitamin C comes to mind for a lot of
[38:02] people when we're thinking about helping the body absorb the
[38:07] other nutrients that are in the supplement.
[38:09] And so the way that our team developed it really was to make
[38:12] sure that all the things in there are really complementing
[38:15] each other so that the body can absorb the quantity of nutrients
[38:19] that are on the label there. My literal dream because I feel
[38:25] like that is what we want, right?
[38:27] It's the full absorption and so, so many companies I found from
[38:30] my experience don't do that. So I am just so grateful for
[38:33] what you guys have created and just so cool that you created it
[38:37] from that place of this is what I needed.
[38:41] This is what you know, and when we create from that place, I
[38:44] just feel like, yeah, our purpose is just so set and the
[38:48] path is set. First, we need to know our
[38:50] baseline, right? We need to know our baseline so
[38:52] that we can understand our body and then comes in the nutrients.
[38:56] OK. And that's when daily basis is
[38:57] so incredibly supportive. And guys, I'll tell you at the
[39:00] end, but literally like they're going to give us 50% off.
[39:03] I'm so excited. They're so they're way too nice.
[39:05] I'm obsessed with these girls. 1st, I'll get into the spirit
[39:07] part a little bit because I feel like for me, that's kind of like
[39:10] where I thrive. And I have noticed, you know,
[39:13] connecting to my spirit and connecting to my soul has had a
[39:17] huge impact on my hormones because it relates to the
[39:19] baseline. It relates to understanding
[39:22] where am I at right now in this moment.
[39:26] And also I feel like connecting to the soul also gives us a lot
[39:29] of grace, as you talked about before, Izzy, as like,
[39:33] especially looking at the younger self, it's like, OK,
[39:35] this is my body, OK, and I'm doing what I need to nurture it.
[39:38] But there are these other influences.
[39:40] There's systems, there's the food systems, there's the
[39:43] Women's Health system, there's all these systems in place that
[39:46] are not necessarily set up to be supportive in the ways that we
[39:50] need. So we learn how to support
[39:52] ourselves. We learn how to create things
[39:54] like you guys have to support ourselves.
[39:56] And on a spirit level, I feel like we can offer ourselves a
[39:59] lot of grace when we see like. You know, I love the untethered
[40:03] Souls, one of my favorite spiritual books for like
[40:05] spiritual beginners because it's like shows you how we do have
[40:09] this observant part that is able to kind of step outside of the
[40:13] human body and offer that higher perspective and higher grace and
[40:18] compassion. And by having that, I think it
[40:20] gives us the mental clarity and the mental calm to then be like,
[40:25] now what do I need to do to actionably take care of my body?
[40:27] And that's why it's so interconnected, the spirit and
[40:30] the body and the mind. Because when the spirit feels
[40:33] safe and the mind feels relaxed, then we can really take care of
[40:37] the body. I've even noticed like how I
[40:39] work with my cycle, how like I'm manifestation queen in my
[40:42] ovulatory and in my luteal way more in my journal and in my
[40:47] thoughts and in my feelings and in my processing.
[40:50] And actually I noticed like when I'm at my baseline and I'm
[40:54] having a relationship with my menstrual cycle during my
[40:57] period, even if I have things arise that are difficult, I
[41:01] noticed that the things that arise are a part of the
[41:04] spiritual cycle too, of clearing things out every single time.
[41:07] So I just love how it connects and I'd love for you guys to
[41:11] kind of get into the mind, especially like I'm sure the
[41:14] nutrients impact the mind and the hormones also impact the
[41:19] mind. So I would love to talk about
[41:21] the mental health aspect of this all.
[41:24] One of the things that came to my mind actually when we were
[41:27] talking earlier about our younger selves and really
[41:30] driving so hard all the time is I think there's this other
[41:35] unsaid part where we might be driving towards all of these
[41:39] goals. But I think there's also this
[41:41] really high expectation that a lot of women have, especially
[41:45] when we think about maybe really high empathy and people
[41:49] pleasing. And I think that there is this
[41:52] pressure all the time that is not in the physical world that
[41:57] we feel like we need to be taken care of.
[42:00] And I know for me specifically, it is running in the background
[42:03] all of the time. So the people in my life that I
[42:07] am, you know, taking care of or checking on or there's so much
[42:12] emotional energy going outwards that I've, I've really felt like
[42:18] it detracts from my ability to take care of myself.
[42:21] And when that happens, when I think about the overload and I
[42:25] take inventory of when I recognize too much is going out
[42:29] and not enough is coming in, that's when I don't know where I
[42:32] am in my cycle and my symptoms are higher and I'm eating to
[42:37] survive. And that's a lot of frozen
[42:40] pizzas. And and that's OK for periods of
[42:43] time. But I do resonate so much with
[42:46] when there's a detachment from that, like mind, body connection
[42:52] and the soul piece that you're talking about.
[42:55] A lot of my own health seems to go by the wayside.
[42:59] And I think that there is that pressure specifically.
[43:01] I know I mean men carry this as well, but I think that there is
[43:05] something unique in what women also hold from a nurturing
[43:10] perspective that takes up a lot of that space.
[43:14] Think that what Sophie was saying isn't another reason why
[43:18] we started this company. I think that the health and
[43:21] Wellness industry can be really damaging for a lot of people.
[43:25] It is. There's a lot of pressure
[43:27] associated with your health. And I think that especially for
[43:32] me and my story, given how much of my story is rooted in my
[43:36] eating disorder, in order for me to really be able to have a life
[43:44] in which I felt connected to my body and connected to my mind
[43:48] and integrated together and in tune with myself, I had to get
[43:52] rid of all of the things that I was told to do.
[43:56] I had to not care so much about what I was eating.
[44:00] I had to let myself go out and drink alcohol with my friends
[44:05] sometimes and let myself have a night where I didn't go to bed
[44:08] at 9:00 PM. And for me, that actually
[44:11] transformed my health in the long term.
[44:14] And part of the reason why I wanted to build this company was
[44:18] not to make women feel stressed out about the nutrients they
[44:22] need to get throughout their cycle, but to have a trusted
[44:26] tool to support them all the time while they can just live
[44:30] their life in the way that serves them in the moment.
[44:33] Because I couldn't handle it. I had all these charts on my
[44:36] fridge with all these foods I should eat to cycle sink and
[44:39] different workouts and focus periods.
[44:42] And it, it became so overwhelming that I, it actually
[44:46] backfired. It wasn't helping me in any way.
[44:48] And I was so disconnected from my body.
[44:51] And I just wanted something that was a support system and a tool.
[44:54] And it actually helped me get more in connection with my body
[44:56] and helped me kind of come back and give myself grace and allow
[44:59] myself to listen to my body's cues while also knowing I just
[45:03] had some baseline support in the background.
[45:06] You don't understand. Like, I'm so glad that the
[45:08] conversation got to this because I think especially when health
[45:11] things arise, it can be so easy, especially for women who have
[45:16] this natural feeling of self protection and like protection
[45:21] of others. That's also what I heard you
[45:22] saying, Sophie, like that constant need that it's like
[45:24] that mother bear energy, you know, you're always wanting to
[45:27] be there for your people and be and take care of this person and
[45:30] do that. And, and I think that energy is
[45:32] so incredibly draining in so many ways.
[45:37] And then when that takes up too much space and then we have
[45:41] health problems arise within our bodies because of that
[45:43] disconnect, it's so easy to go into hyper control.
[45:47] It's so easy to go into. I need to fix this because I
[45:49] feel like I take more of like a type B type of approach.
[45:52] Like I feel like I worked with a hormone specialist.
[45:55] But I knew that sometimes the best thing that I could do for
[45:58] my hormones was literally slowing down in the shower And
[46:02] like just literally like stop moving so fast.
[46:05] Like washing the dishes. No slow down.
[46:08] Like just in the simplest moments with hormone
[46:10] dysregulation. And some of my friends have
[46:12] experienced like really severe symptoms that I'll see the hyper
[46:16] control and I'll see the way that it just makes it worse and
[46:19] worse and worse. And it's almost like when you
[46:22] offer that grace and that compassion and that gentleness
[46:26] to be like, actually, I am going to go with my friends.
[46:28] Actually, I am not going to control everything that I eat.
[46:30] And I'm going to have this like easy supportive baseline
[46:34] practice in the back. Of course, I'm devoted.
[46:36] But the hyper control, it does the opposite.
[46:40] I think it is also a women mental health thing 100%.
[46:44] I wrote in my notes the other day and I was like looking at my
[46:47] notes because what you said resonated with me so much.
[46:49] Sophie. And some people might take
[46:51] offense to this but men. Men were taught and raised to
[46:55] coast and women were raised to self protect.
[46:59] And I just feel like when I see men in my life, I'm just like
[47:04] the way that they are raised in their brains.
[47:06] It's coast. It's coasting energy.
[47:08] Not saying that men don't struggle with anxiety, mental
[47:09] health, yes they do. But compared to the percent of
[47:13] the majority of women in my life and how we take things so
[47:16] seriously and how we really just want to be perfect and be good
[47:21] enough and while also making it seem effortless and easy at the
[47:26] same time. Like it is just too much.
[47:28] And I think that is this bigger conversation of this is where
[47:31] the mental health in the mind drops into the hormone health
[47:35] and to the woman's health and to our own health when we're trying
[47:38] to be in control and trying to be perfect.
[47:40] Like that is what is causing so much challenge and stress and
[47:45] cortisol in our body. And it is so holistic in this
[47:48] way. And this is what I wanted to
[47:50] nail in this podcast that I feel like we just fully circled.
[47:53] It's like, yes, it's about the body.
[47:55] Like, yes, it's about the nutrients.
[47:57] And it's also this holistic perspective.
[47:59] And I love that you guys say like getting nutrients from food
[48:02] 1st and then also having your devoted practice, you know, of I
[48:07] don't need to think about all these things to be perfect.
[48:09] I can just have this one thing to support me and that's that's
[48:13] enough. I actually just need to be
[48:14] gentle with myself, give myself grace and also provide myself
[48:17] with the nutrients in an easy way.
[48:19] Like I just feel like I love the idea of making it simple.
[48:22] You just try to complicate it and tie it in a knot.
[48:24] And I feel like the message that I'm receiving from this podcast
[48:28] is like, be gentle on yourself and make it as easy for yourself
[48:31] as possible because you're literally human and you're doing
[48:33] the best that you can. Kind of goes back to that idea
[48:36] of overriding, like by nature, our female body has such high
[48:41] capacity, it is wild what we can do.
[48:44] And when you think about what it's designed to do and you
[48:48] know, like, not that every person wants to have a child,
[48:51] but the capacity to have such extreme physical circumstances
[48:55] and continue to operate in the world, I think means that when
[49:00] we get into these really high levels of stress, we can
[49:03] continue to override. And we can say, OK, I'm going to
[49:05] tackle this next week when things calm down and then I'm
[49:08] going to tackle it. And because we can just keep
[49:10] going. And then you get into this
[49:12] spiral where you're trying to get a handle on your hormones
[49:16] and your or on fertility or whatever it may be.
[49:19] And your instinct is to work harder at it.
[49:22] And what you need to do is let go.
[49:24] And that's the most infuriating thing to hear.
[49:28] The kind of that other piece of why we designed the product the
[49:31] way we did too in two phases is for the nutrient purposes.
[49:35] It's also a really great indication to come back into
[49:40] your body because it's a physical representation of
[49:42] what's happening during the month.
[49:44] So you say, OK, I can see, you know, this might be a time where
[49:48] I need a little bit more gentleness.
[49:50] And it's just a reminder if you're going really fast every
[49:53] day, you just see this and you're like, OK, this box, maybe
[49:56] I need a little bit more gentle. OK, maybe I'm going to have a
[49:58] little bit more energy. And it's just kind of those
[50:01] physical cues every day to get back into your body and
[50:06] remember, you know what's going on and tune back in.
[50:09] This might be controversial. To say but.
[50:11] I. Hate the term?
[50:13] Biohacking, I can't deal with it, period.
[50:17] And it's so funny because we're founders in the health and
[50:20] Wellness industry. And so I think people assume
[50:22] because we have a supplement company that we are just the
[50:26] most help optimizer and we are so anti both of us and we are
[50:33] healthy people. We both crave fresh food and we
[50:37] prioritize our sleep as much as we can, although it's hard when
[50:40] you're building a business and we both exercise.
[50:44] We love moving our bodies. But both of our we talk about
[50:48] all the time, Sophie and I and part of the reason why when we
[50:50] met and we bonded over this, we both bonded over having in a
[50:55] really intense life and pushing ourselves to the Max
[50:58] athletically and physically and with food and self-image and
[51:02] then slowing down and how insanely powerful that is for
[51:06] our systems. Sometimes I wake up and I the
[51:10] most amazing thing for my day is just going to be doing a 25
[51:14] minute walk outside and that's OK.
[51:17] That's OK that I'm not going to a reformer Pilates class or
[51:21] going to a HIT workout or training on the bike with my
[51:26] husband who I used to compete with, which is crazy.
[51:29] Like why am I competing with my husband over biking?
[51:32] It's like these things that we're all inherently trained to
[51:37] do and compete and do more, they're just so they're just not
[51:41] serving us. And I think there's more and
[51:43] more research coming out and more people talking about this
[51:47] and that. Women, women can also slow down
[51:50] because like you said, men are slowing down all the time.
[51:53] They get to slow down whenever they want and it's slow.
[51:55] Chill. I remember I remember my
[51:58] boyfriend at the time, now husband, he took like a month
[52:01] off exercise and I remember being like what a month off
[52:06] exercise and I was like, I could never.
[52:09] And now because I'm not to take a month off exercise and I move
[52:12] my body still in a way that's really it serves me, but it's.
[52:17] Yeah, yeah. It's just there's.
[52:19] So much information out there on how to be the most healthy or
[52:25] your longevity. And it's all great.
[52:28] And I think that it is awesome that we have so much more
[52:31] information and data coming out. But I think for so many of us,
[52:34] it can be damaging and overwhelming.
[52:36] And we all just need to come back into our bodies and we need
[52:39] to understand our menstrual cycle and our hormones and the
[52:42] signals that they're telling us and listen to that because it's
[52:47] really, really powerful. You know, it's important to be
[52:49] educated, but it's a relationship, it's an
[52:51] embodiment, It's a it's also ever changing a relationship as
[52:55] we grow older, of course, and our bodies change.
[52:58] So in that like I just feel, so I'd resonate so much with you
[53:03] guys perspective versus this energy of biohacking stats, like
[53:07] this intensity. And of course, data and research
[53:09] and science is important. But when it's serving the drop
[53:13] in, when it's serving the embodiment, when it's serving
[53:16] the actual health because being a productivity monster, and I
[53:19] agree, girls, I am recovering. I relate to so many things you
[53:22] guys are saying. I'm like the girls know on the
[53:24] skinny dipping podcast, recovering productivity monster.
[53:27] But for sure, like the productivity guilt I still feel
[53:30] to this day because I forced myself to do less is an everyday
[53:34] challenge because of how I was raised.
[53:36] The productivity monster that does the opposite for our health
[53:39] and also for the way that our health effects all the things in
[53:44] our life, our relationships, our abundance, our manifestations,
[53:46] our career, all the things are impacted.
[53:48] Health is wealth. That is my number one pillar.
[53:50] When I do my values, I always like go and check my values in
[53:53] life. And what if health is not number
[53:56] one? I do like a self check in.
[53:58] I'm like why? Health needs to be #1 for me
[54:01] because it impacts everything. But it's in a way of love.
[54:05] It's not a way you can't hate yourself into the change you
[54:08] want to create. You have to love yourself into
[54:10] the evolution. And it has to come from this
[54:12] place of, OK, I'm knowing myself.
[54:13] I'm learning myself. I'm learning about like my
[54:16] hormones. I'm taking the things that are
[54:17] supporting me. I'm being devoted to my
[54:19] practice. I'm taking my daily basis.
[54:21] Like I'm doing all the things, but I'm also doing it from a
[54:24] place of love. I'm doing it because I fucking
[54:26] love myself and I want to nurture myself, not because I'm
[54:29] trying to hate myself into changing.
[54:31] And I think that is really that internal difference of shifting
[54:34] and looking outward and being like I'm doing this from a place
[54:37] of love and also a place of my own pace.
[54:41] We need to listen to our bodies and it needs to be a
[54:44] relationship of embodiment. And it's not always up here in
[54:47] the brain. It's about dropping in.
[54:49] Women's bodies are amazing and also women's minds are amazing
[54:53] because we're able to hold such nuance.
[54:56] I love this conversation. I love you girls.
[54:58] You guys are amazing. I feel like now that I've like
[55:00] gone to know you, I'm like, wait, I'm extra obsessed.
[55:03] Like now I feel like now that I know you guys, every time I take
[55:06] my supplements, I'm just going to, it's going to make me smile
[55:09] even more. Like I'm just going to be like,
[55:13] because you girls are amazing and I resonate so much with
[55:16] everything you guys feel. I'm like yes, yes, yes, I love
[55:19] that you guys are holistic because that's what we need.
[55:21] The AHA formula. It's the mind, body and soul
[55:25] baby. It's the holistic perspective.
[55:27] And I just really, really appreciate you guys bringing
[55:29] that to us. It's skinny dipping today.
[55:30] Like it means the actual world, guys, they're gifting us
[55:34] something you guys don't understand.
[55:35] Like you guys don't understand 50% off is way too nice.
[55:40] I'm like, you guys are so nice. We want everyone to be able to
[55:43] take this product. No, yes, I feel like for what
[55:47] you're getting, I feel like it's already such a good deal.
[55:49] So 50% off. I'm like what guys?
[55:50] It's going to be dropped in the show notes below, but daily
[55:53] basislive.com/skinny dipping and it's 50% off.
[55:57] First time subscription order 50% off and I I think that we
[56:01] all should do this is like a little challenge.
[56:03] I feel like it would be so cute to like do a three month
[56:05] challenge with the listeners. I don't know tell me you guys
[56:08] can message me and tell me if anybody would be down in the
[56:10] community, but it could be so fun to kind of just like do kind
[56:14] of like an embodiment practice and see how see like a three
[56:17] month thing. I don't know we'll see we'll see
[56:19] that's just something that's coming to mind right away, but
[56:21] let me know if anybody would be down.
[56:22] That sounds so fun to, you know, just talk to other women about
[56:27] what we're experiencing and holding each other accountable
[56:30] in the devotion of literally 1 little thing a day.
[56:32] That's what I love about daily basis is like, like you said,
[56:35] it's not about controlling everything in your life.
[56:37] It's like, OK, how can I actually live freely?
[56:39] And then can I have one thing that supports me and only one
[56:42] thing that I'm devoted to because I'm already balancing so
[56:44] many habits and all my jobs and everything.
[56:46] I don't need to take on another million things to balance my
[56:49] hormones. So that's why I feel like this
[56:51] one thing a day like is the perfect thing for me, especially
[56:54] as an entrepreneur and an ADHD girly.
[56:57] It's all I can remember, truly. Me too, that's why we demanded I
[57:01] wanted to take. It you relate to that where
[57:04] you're like, I can only take one thing.
[57:07] Oh yeah. Hell yeah, there is no, no
[57:09] supplement stack is happening in this household.
[57:12] No supplement. Stack.
[57:13] Thank God there is no space for that.
[57:15] I mean, I just so enjoyed having you guys on final, just like
[57:19] thoughts, like anything coming through to share with everyone,
[57:21] like a final note on what you would love to leave the skinny
[57:25] dipping listeners with today. Short and sweet.
[57:28] The thing I will say is when all else fails, take a nap.
[57:34] Get some sleep, slow it down, let go of what you're doing, and
[57:38] that's your best. That's your best bet.
[57:41] I don't think I can top that one.
[57:44] Come on, maybe get like a little face Mr. like feel, right?
[57:50] Dry water. We need more water in our lives.
[57:54] Yeah, doing less does more for us and I love that energy.
[57:57] And can you guys just share about where people can follow
[58:00] you guys and follow daily basis? Where can we find you?
