[0:00] Speaker 1: We would like to acknowledge the traditional custodians of the
[0:03] Speaker 1: land that this podcast is recorded on.
[0:05] Speaker 2: So I got fed this piece of content on the
[0:07] Speaker 2: GRAM and I wanted to bring it to the pod
[0:09] Speaker 2: because I thought it was so beautiful. Okay, But basically
[0:12] Speaker 2: it was a message to parents to remind them that
[0:15] Speaker 2: one of the most powerful things you can do is
[0:18] Speaker 2: talk about your kids.
[0:20] Speaker 1: Within the earshot.
[0:21] Speaker 2: Yeah, outside of their room, talking about how wonderful they are.
[0:25] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[0:25] Speaker 2: So it's not directly to them. It's not like let
[0:28] Speaker 2: me eyeball you and.
[0:29] Speaker 1: Tell you how proud I am or how great you are.
[0:32] Speaker 2: It's literally you and your partner or you and whoever
[0:35] Speaker 2: outside of their room, just gossiping about them in the
[0:38] Speaker 2: best way.
[0:39] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[0:40] Speaker 2: And I just thought, how heartwarming would that be to
[0:43] Speaker 2: hear your parents? And I thought, I'm going to do this,
[0:45] Speaker 2: So I want to practice with you, Okay, what I
[0:47] Speaker 2: want to say about my kids and what would you say?
[0:50] Speaker 1: What do your kids need to hear? I'm doing this
[0:52] Speaker 1: for years, oh have you? Yeah?
[0:54] Speaker 2: I make a big deal of like when I go
[0:56] Speaker 2: around to my parents, how obviously I'm the only adult
[0:58] Speaker 2: in my household, but if I'm on the phone, or
[1:01] Speaker 2: sometimes I will talk to one of my kids about
[1:03] Speaker 2: the other kid within earshot. You know, I'll be like,
[1:06] Speaker 2: I'm so proud of Teddy, he's working so hard this week,
[1:09] Speaker 2: you know, and I'll make I know you can hear me,
[1:11] Speaker 2: but yeah, I totally because it just means so much
[1:13] Speaker 2: more right when it's not being like because all humans
[1:16] Speaker 2: are like, aha, nah, you don't.
[1:18] Speaker 1: Mean that, like we all struggle. You're buttering me out.
[1:20] Speaker 2: Yeah, you're just trying to make me feel good or whatever.
[1:22] Speaker 2: But when you overhear someone talking about you to someone else,
[1:25] Speaker 2: nothing means more than that. I mean, we can all relate.
[1:27] Speaker 2: If I heard you talking favorably about me to Kad,
[1:29] Speaker 2: I'd be like, oh god, yeah, you know, of course
[1:32] Speaker 2: it would feel nice. But it feels genuine yeah, because
[1:35] Speaker 2: you feel like you're eavesdropping well.
[1:37] Speaker 1: Olsation you're not a part of.
[1:39] Speaker 2: Not only is the person talking about you thinking that,
[1:41] Speaker 2: but they're proud and sharing.
[1:43] Speaker 1: It with another person. It means a lot.
[1:44] Speaker 2: I do. When I go to my parents' house, I go, oh,
[1:47] Speaker 2: you won't believe what a great wake Eila's had. And
[1:49] Speaker 2: you know, like she's around, but she's not involved. But
[1:52] Speaker 2: I know she can hear it's great for them. Okay,
[1:54] Speaker 2: what are you going to say? What do they need
[1:55] Speaker 2: to hear? Well, I'm thinking with Iggy, I want to
[1:59] Speaker 2: talk about, gosh, she's really giving things a go. Oh yeah,
[2:03] Speaker 2: that's good, you know, And he's not defaulting to know
[2:06] Speaker 2: he's starting to get that yes and energy or I
[2:09] Speaker 2: can't do that yet and giving it a go despite
[2:12] Speaker 2: feeling challenged by something.
[2:14] Speaker 1: Make out the default. Just say the good stuff. Don't
[2:16] Speaker 1: give notes over here you gushing. Obviously it wouldn't be
[2:22] Speaker 1: in those words. I would simplify it a bit more,
[2:25] Speaker 1: but I might.
[2:25] Speaker 2: Say to hubs like, I'm just so proud of how
[2:28] Speaker 2: Iggy's giving sport a go. He loves it so much,
[2:32] Speaker 2: and he's thriving on the field, and he's having fun
[2:34] Speaker 2: with his friends, and he's just growing.
[2:36] Speaker 1: Up into such a lovely kid.
[2:37] Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, maybe something simple like that little parley
[2:41] Speaker 2: on that And with Raff, I would want to validate
[2:45] Speaker 2: how much of a lovely friend she's becoming. Like she
[2:49] Speaker 2: is someone who has become really thoughtful and considerate about
[2:53] Speaker 2: how she speaks to her friends, especially in encouragement. That's
[2:58] Speaker 2: so nice. Yeah, Like she's howm cheerleader. Good, so we
[3:02] Speaker 2: need them in the world.
[3:03] Speaker 1: Yes, love your friends loudly.
[3:05] Speaker 2: So I want her to eavesdrop me hit talking about that,
[3:08] Speaker 2: but she goes, yes, yes, I am kind, kind, Yes,
[3:11] Speaker 2: I do support my friends and encourage them. And what's
[3:14] Speaker 2: your top value, babe? Of course it's rubbing off on her.
[3:17] Speaker 1: Yeah, I hope so. Well, it seems to be so
[3:19] Speaker 1: more of that. It's great. Shall we start the app? Yes,
[3:22] Speaker 1: let's ay KD. I'm just so proud of Jim. She's
[3:24] Speaker 1: been like working really hard on her choreography. Well, hey, Jimi,
[3:29] Speaker 1: that didn't feel forced at all, felt so genuine. We
[3:33] Speaker 1: have a thousand things to.
[3:35] Speaker 2: Do, but we'd rather chat to you with emails and
[3:41] Speaker 2: meetings and husbands and kids.
[3:44] Speaker 1: We don't have time for this.
[3:47] Speaker 2: Just what you need to basic bitches with the podcast.
[3:52] Speaker 1: Hello and welcome to We don't have time for this.
[3:55] Speaker 2: I'm your host, Jemiprinita aka Jemma Pinat on the Gram
[3:59] Speaker 2: along with my co host Saint Reeves. Guys, we were
[4:02] Speaker 2: having the biggest giggle before we got on the mic
[4:04] Speaker 2: about sibling names and it's just another one of those
[4:07] Speaker 2: things we all do as parents where we just think
[4:11] Speaker 2: our kids whole lives are just in relation to our
[4:14] Speaker 2: lives and our families. We were like basically just being like, oh, Okay,
[4:18] Speaker 2: this person's had a second kid, and that's the name
[4:20] Speaker 2: of the kid.
[4:20] Speaker 1: That sounds awful a lot like the first kid.
[4:23] Speaker 2: You know, people who have kids' names that a little
[4:25] Speaker 2: bit rhyme, or they all start with the same letter
[4:28] Speaker 2: or whatever.
[4:28] Speaker 1: We're just laughing about that.
[4:29] Speaker 2: And then I was like, yeah, but guys, like they're
[4:31] Speaker 2: only at home for a certain like a little bit
[4:33] Speaker 2: of time.
[4:34] Speaker 1: Like when I think of Jem, I never go like, oh,
[4:37] Speaker 1: Jem and Tim like whatever.
[4:40] Speaker 2: When our parents name us, it's sure it's in relation
[4:43] Speaker 2: to the sibling for a little bit, but not for
[4:45] Speaker 2: your life in the ground scheme of your life. Yeah,
[4:48] Speaker 2: but you know you do think about that though, don't you.
[4:50] Speaker 2: Everybody does babies. You're like, yes, Chloe in summer, Yes,
[4:54] Speaker 2: that's Katie's right for a nikky.
[4:56] Speaker 1: You know, I learned Teddy y you do.
[4:58] Speaker 2: But no, they're going to have their own, separate, independent
[5:01] Speaker 2: lives and they don't want to be tied down to
[5:03] Speaker 2: their sibling. Do you know what I do find funny
[5:05] Speaker 2: because you know how people have a type when it
[5:08] Speaker 2: comes to how they name their kids. Do they like
[5:10] Speaker 2: more classical traditional names, do they like the religious names
[5:13] Speaker 2: or the Celtic names or whatever.
[5:15] Speaker 1: You know, I've got a girlfriend totally. I've got a
[5:18] Speaker 1: friend whose kids are Echo or Sheen.
[5:22] Speaker 2: And Tiger, you know, very Celtic names, and that checks.
[5:26] Speaker 2: But what I do find funny But her partner's Celtic. Yeah, totally,
[5:29] Speaker 2: he's Irish. No, it makes sense, but you know that
[5:32] Speaker 2: as a family unit of kids, I'm like, totally, but
[5:34] Speaker 2: I'm lad find it funny when I meet someone.
[5:37] Speaker 1: They've got a rogue theme.
[5:38] Speaker 2: Yes, We're like one kid is called Atlas and then
[5:41] Speaker 2: the other one is called Jessica, and I'm like.
[5:44] Speaker 1: Huh, come again, what happened? You know? Where did you? Yeah?
[5:48] Speaker 1: I know, we flash yourself with the bass. We flashed
[5:50] Speaker 1: Because if you don't have to stick to a theme
[5:52] Speaker 1: when you name the children, isn't it funny how we do? That?
[5:56] Speaker 1: Feels like the breath of fresh air? Yeah, you know, or.
[6:00] Speaker 2: Like there's a rogue, like a name that is so
[6:02] Speaker 2: cultural in there when like it's not your culture, Like
[6:05] Speaker 2: do you remember when Luca just skyrocketed? I'm sure a
[6:08] Speaker 2: million dls have Luca's for sure, but I was always like,
[6:11] Speaker 2: it's so intensely Italian. See, it doesn't feel that way
[6:14] Speaker 2: to me anymore.
[6:15] Speaker 1: Weird, but it is like calling a child like Giovanni.
[6:19] Speaker 2: Like imagine if just all the boys were called Giovanni,
[6:22] Speaker 2: like it would just be like what you know, it's
[6:24] Speaker 2: just like so Italian. And I always found it like
[6:27] Speaker 2: another Luca. There we are, you know.
[6:30] Speaker 1: It's funny. Luca has become to me like Matt.
[6:33] Speaker 2: Yeah, like that's how popular it total that I haven't
[6:35] Speaker 2: really thought about it as an intensely Italian name.
[6:39] Speaker 1: It's just a very popular boy's name.
[6:41] Speaker 2: Yeah. Sometimes the Celtic girls' names will do that, like
[6:44] Speaker 2: obviously Isla is one of them, and Ifa is having
[6:47] Speaker 2: like quite a big like that's been bubbling up for
[6:50] Speaker 2: years and years now, and it's spelt.
[6:52] Speaker 1: Really beautifully Aoifi.
[6:54] Speaker 2: I think it was definitely on the list for Isler,
[6:56] Speaker 2: but we were like, oh, it's a little hard to
[6:57] Speaker 2: pronounce if you don't know your Celtic names to It's
[7:00] Speaker 2: like Neive my husband really pushed for Neve for raf
[7:03] Speaker 2: but spelled the Celtic way, which is m I am
[7:07] Speaker 2: eight beautiful Reeds is Nim and I was like, thebe
[7:12] Speaker 2: I love you, but I had a surname that was
[7:15] Speaker 2: very hard to spell. That's your true it's my absolutely
[7:18] Speaker 2: my personal trauma and having to correct people all the time.
[7:22] Speaker 1: I just don't want to do that to our kid.
[7:25] Speaker 2: That was a nice thing about living in Scotland specifically
[7:27] Speaker 2: of the UK, is that like there are so many
[7:29] Speaker 2: Celtic names and it's not hard for anyone because everybody
[7:32] Speaker 2: knows how.
[7:32] Speaker 1: To pronounce them.
[7:33] Speaker 2: It's so niceph Yeah, I'm a kid who grew up
[7:36] Speaker 2: with the Thai surname who moved to Australia. So my
[7:40] Speaker 2: name wasn't weird in Thailand? Yeah, wasn't hard to pronounce
[7:43] Speaker 2: Gemma was. I had to teach people how to say gemma.
[7:45] Speaker 2: But then I had the opposite thing when I moved
[7:47] Speaker 2: to Australia and I was like, just keep it really simple.
[7:51] Speaker 1: I love beautiful weird names.
[7:52] Speaker 2: And yet and yet and I learn Teddy, if you
[7:56] Speaker 2: had your time again, what beautiful weird names would you like? Well,
[8:00] Speaker 2: you know, like I had so many good ones for
[8:03] Speaker 2: Isla Friday was on there and she's so mad at
[8:06] Speaker 2: us that we didn't call her.
[8:07] Speaker 1: I don't blame her. Frankly, yeah, it's.
[8:09] Speaker 2: A tick man, and it's also quite unique, like there
[8:11] Speaker 2: aren't Fridays everywhere, and she was born on a Friday,
[8:14] Speaker 2: which it was on the list well before she was
[8:16] Speaker 2: born on a Friday.
[8:16] Speaker 1: We just fucking loved Isla.
[8:18] Speaker 2: We just kept coming back to it, and it felt right,
[8:20] Speaker 2: and we really wanted to give her Blue as a
[8:22] Speaker 2: middle name. I think we felt like Friday Blue just
[8:24] Speaker 2: sounds like a Disney child, like a Disney song.
[8:28] Speaker 1: It just sounds like it's wrong with that Friday Blue.
[8:30] Speaker 1: It just sounds like a cuckoo name, like it's not
[8:31] Speaker 1: a real name. I don't know, I'm into her, Yeah,
[8:34] Speaker 1: she's like, I'm one of I don't think it's a
[8:37] Speaker 1: cool name. Yeah.
[8:38] Speaker 3: Can you see her in like a super serious corporate
[8:41] Speaker 3: Oh oh.
[8:42] Speaker 2: I can't have this chat about super serious corporate jobs.
[8:46] Speaker 1: We don't know what our kids jobs are going to be, guys.
[8:48] Speaker 2: But also you can also do a super serious corporate
[8:51] Speaker 2: job and be called Friday.
[8:52] Speaker 1: You know, it's fine, it's fine.
[8:55] Speaker 2: I played this game with Raffa recently because she's like
[8:57] Speaker 2: desperate for a sibling, and I was like, no way,
[9:00] Speaker 2: she has a sibling and she's like, sorry, another sibling,
[9:03] Speaker 2: but anyway.
[9:03] Speaker 1: Yeah. So Raffa always is like, Mum, if you had
[9:06] Speaker 1: a third baby, what will we call it?
[9:08] Speaker 2: Oh? Yeah, that's a fun game me and Low played
[9:09] Speaker 2: that with my mom all the time. Yeah it's super
[9:12] Speaker 2: but it's Samantha and we were like, oh, oh, game over.
[9:17] Speaker 1: That makes Louise and Samantha great again. Story And with
[9:22] Speaker 1: Raf I said, I don't know.
[9:24] Speaker 2: I think maybe and I threw it out there for
[9:26] Speaker 2: fun and I don't know. I haven't thought about kids
[9:28] Speaker 2: names because I'm just so not there. And I said
[9:30] Speaker 2: maybe holiday. I love it, and Rafa burst out laughing.
[9:34] Speaker 2: She was like, don't be ridiculous, Mum.
[9:37] Speaker 1: It's a beautiful name. I know, a holiday. And I
[9:40] Speaker 1: was like why not? And she goes, we go on holiday.
[9:42] Speaker 2: You can't call it kid holiday and I'm like, says,
[9:45] Speaker 2: who know. I was like, what do you want to
[9:48] Speaker 2: call it?
[9:49] Speaker 1: And she was like Madison or no?
[9:52] Speaker 2: It's a YouTube like saylish yeah yes, And I was like, oh,
[9:56] Speaker 2: here we go, we're back here on the YouTube wheel.
[9:58] Speaker 1: I was like, we're not calling it our third kid
[10:00] Speaker 1: Madison medisine. I like it. It's a lovely name.
[10:03] Speaker 2: But it's because I know, yeah, yeah, like Sailors.
[10:07] Speaker 1: Yeah, isn't that upsetting?
[10:08] Speaker 2: What that? You know? But it's a unique name, no,
[10:10] Speaker 2: as in like this YouTube show. It's very extremely YouTube
[10:15] Speaker 2: coded show has found its way on Netflix, and I
[10:18] Speaker 2: don't love it because my kids are like, it's on Netflix,
[10:20] Speaker 2: and you always said we're allowed to watch anything on Netflix,
[10:23] Speaker 2: but we can't watch anything on YouTube anyway. They're weaponizing
[10:27] Speaker 2: that against me at the moment. So I'm annoyed at
[10:29] Speaker 2: Sailish and Jordan, very annoyed. I can't handle the sound
[10:33] Speaker 2: of the YouTube voice, the American YouTube voice.
[10:36] Speaker 1: Hey guys, that's that that sound. It's like, oh my god,
[10:40] Speaker 1: it's turn our house into a five star hotel. We're
[10:43] Speaker 1: going to build a lazy river hook hook Hook so intense.
[10:46] Speaker 2: And it's like the volume is loud, it's that particular, Yeah,
[10:51] Speaker 2: the whole thing, and it's like, oh my god, it's
[10:53] Speaker 2: the overstem is so intense with it.
[10:56] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[10:56] Speaker 2: Well, I'm disappointed with you, Netflix, not that you care
[10:58] Speaker 2: for my opinion.
[11:00] Speaker 1: Don't they're not even listening. That's the way you used
[11:02] Speaker 1: to curate your content. I get it.
[11:04] Speaker 2: Salus is in the top ten most popular TV perish.
[11:07] Speaker 2: They're just trying to say I get it. But at
[11:09] Speaker 2: least they're not scrolling, they're not getting ads all that.
[11:11] Speaker 1: Stuff, you know. Yeah, but the addiction is real. Do
[11:13] Speaker 1: you know what I don't have time for? What don't
[11:15] Speaker 1: you have time for?
[11:15] Speaker 2: I put lunch orders through this morning. Do you know
[11:18] Speaker 2: how much it costs me?
[11:19] Speaker 1: Twenty six dollars?
[11:21] Speaker 2: Twenty six dollars to the canteen for both kids?
[11:26] Speaker 1: Both kids? What did you order? Talk us through?
[11:28] Speaker 2: No?
[11:28] Speaker 1: No, no, just sushi rolls? How many to each? Nah,
[11:31] Speaker 1: there's an error. There's not an error. Twenty six. I
[11:34] Speaker 1: did it without even because I wait, so that's like
[11:36] Speaker 1: six dollars fifty per sushi roll. That's outrageous, out fucking ragel.
[11:41] Speaker 1: We're talking about a hand roll. Yeah, that's outrageous. Little packets.
[11:45] Speaker 1: I don't know.
[11:46] Speaker 2: I can't remember how either way whatever, two servings of
[11:48] Speaker 2: sushi each. Yeah, And it was because like the bread
[11:51] Speaker 2: was not on fire, you know what I mean. I
[11:53] Speaker 2: was like, oh, I've a quality shit, but I'm like,
[11:55] Speaker 2: this is.
[11:55] Speaker 1: A little stale.
[11:56] Speaker 2: I don't think I can set. I didn't have mold
[11:59] Speaker 2: on it. I don't know, but I wasn't going to
[12:00] Speaker 2: send like it's a good day when they eat their lunch. Generally,
[12:02] Speaker 2: I'm not going to like start making the soundwichs shit,
[12:04] Speaker 2: you know. Yeah, And I was like, oh, I'll just
[12:06] Speaker 2: get them some sushi. Opened my Flexi Schools did it
[12:08] Speaker 2: while I was doing a million other things, of course,
[12:10] Speaker 2: was making a coffee, was going through homework with Isla,
[12:13] Speaker 2: getting Teddy's stuff together for rugby, and so I'm like
[12:15] Speaker 2: doing it on the side, put it all through, hit
[12:18] Speaker 2: pay whatever. And then my banking app was like twenty
[12:20] Speaker 2: six dollars to Flexi Schools and I was.
[12:22] Speaker 1: Like, come, I get me. What the hell? And that's
[12:25] Speaker 1: not even with snacks.
[12:27] Speaker 2: Nope, there was no drink. There was no ice cream,
[12:30] Speaker 2: no side thing, nothing. I must say, the price range
[12:34] Speaker 2: of things that the canteen throws me a little bit,
[12:37] Speaker 2: like sushi at our school.
[12:39] Speaker 1: I feel like, is maybe.
[12:40] Speaker 2: Four dollars fifty right, which is fine, But then they
[12:44] Speaker 2: can buy like a ten breadstick, and I'm like, when
[12:47] Speaker 2: was anything of a ten cents you know in twenty
[12:49] Speaker 2: twenty six, however, which is wild. And then Rafa likes
[12:52] Speaker 2: to get these like pineapple rings and they're fifty cents
[12:55] Speaker 2: each and then she's like, can I have two?
[12:56] Speaker 1: And I'm like, okay, that's a dollar. Great, that's fine.
[12:58] Speaker 2: But Mike, I would hand on her say that my
[13:00] Speaker 2: kids lunch orders are anywhere from twelve to fourteen dollars max.
[13:06] Speaker 1: For both for two. Yeah, that's good, that's good. I
[13:09] Speaker 1: do a lot.
[13:09] Speaker 2: Yeah, but I'm like wondering, like, as your kids get older,
[13:12] Speaker 2: do they need more to stay them? They're lunch So
[13:15] Speaker 2: my kids won't eat crunch and sip or recess anymore.
[13:17] Speaker 1: Like they just don't.
[13:18] Speaker 2: They're too busy. They're doing things they like play hammble,
[13:20] Speaker 2: they run out. They just don't eat it. And if
[13:21] Speaker 2: I pack it and send it with them, it just
[13:23] Speaker 2: comes back. And I'm like, this is wasteful.
[13:25] Speaker 1: So lunch is like that's the meal they get.
[13:27] Speaker 2: So I often pick them up and they haven't even
[13:29] Speaker 2: opened their lunchoks and they're starving.
[13:31] Speaker 1: I'm like, guys, eat lunch.
[13:34] Speaker 2: If I order them a lunch order, they'll eat it, okay,
[13:36] Speaker 2: you know, because annoying. It's so annoying. But also I'm
[13:39] Speaker 2: sarrying to do that thing. When they get in the
[13:40] Speaker 2: car starving and I go open your lunch box, You've
[13:42] Speaker 2: got a sandwich in there, eat it. You know what
[13:44] Speaker 2: I mean to, like, make the fucking point not going
[13:46] Speaker 2: to YOCHI, guys, No, I might spend twenty bucks on
[13:50] Speaker 2: yogas me about before.
[13:54] Speaker 1: Yeah, don't do not. I weren't that the hard way.
[13:56] Speaker 2: I'm like, whoa, let's make it Ryan Lullies on frozen yoga.
[14:00] Speaker 1: Oh no.
[14:00] Speaker 2: And then it weighed the damn thing and it was
[14:02] Speaker 2: like twenty five dollars. Yes, unbelievable. Anyway, I played it like,
[14:06] Speaker 2: of course it did.
[14:07] Speaker 1: What we're going to do?
[14:08] Speaker 2: Well?
[14:08] Speaker 1: I was there now, yeah, exactly. Anyway, I enjoyed every
[14:11] Speaker 1: fucking damn mouthful.
[14:13] Speaker 2: My kids are always angling for like some kind of
[14:15] Speaker 2: dopamine input after school, and I'm like, absolutely not, don't
[14:18] Speaker 2: we all.
[14:19] Speaker 1: I'm that mum. We have food at home. You're fun
[14:22] Speaker 1: to have it parties. Oh I'm no good? Who is she?
[14:24] Speaker 1: What happened to me? But the canteen kills me.
[14:26] Speaker 2: There are cheaper things at our canteen, Like definitely, if
[14:28] Speaker 2: you've got a fifty cent coin or a dollar coin,
[14:30] Speaker 2: you can get something.
[14:31] Speaker 1: But I don't ever have fucking coins, Jim. Why do
[14:34] Speaker 1: you need coins? Your school not have like credit?
[14:37] Speaker 2: No, we didn't have credit, okay, because we have a
[14:40] Speaker 2: credit system where you can add a little bit of
[14:42] Speaker 2: money and then the kids can go up and buy
[14:44] Speaker 2: things off that credit. Love that, Yeah, God, how do
[14:47] Speaker 2: they manage that? It's the flexi app, But how do
[14:50] Speaker 2: they manage it?
[14:51] Speaker 1: At the shop? They just say their name. Someone must
[14:53] Speaker 1: be like putting in.
[14:54] Speaker 2: The account and like taking that down.
[14:57] Speaker 1: I understand, but someone's got to do that, you guys.
[15:00] Speaker 1: That doesn't just go to like the air fair Fair.
[15:03] Speaker 1: That's a lot to manage. Our canteen's run by two amazing.
[15:05] Speaker 2: Volunteers who like, it's cash and I just never have cash.
[15:09] Speaker 1: Who has fucking cash? Nobody, even the tooth fairy doesn't
[15:12] Speaker 1: have cash.
[15:12] Speaker 2: Yeah, and if I do, it's like it's a twenty
[15:14] Speaker 2: and I'm not sending that to school to waft away
[15:16] Speaker 2: in the breeze or get caught onto someone's handball.
[15:18] Speaker 1: Don't have time for it. I don't have time for it.
[15:20] Speaker 1: Why is all this stuff so expensive? Ah? What do
[15:24] Speaker 1: you reckon? An actual lunchbox costs to put together? Does
[15:26] Speaker 1: anyone run the numbers? Because like a loaf of bread,
[15:29] Speaker 1: and then you could do like all your lunches for
[15:31] Speaker 1: that week. Fine, Yeah, I feel like our costs it down.
[15:34] Speaker 2: Yeah, to our lunchboxes because we buy like bulk packs. Yeah,
[15:37] Speaker 2: bulk pack of tiny Teddies turn in a pack or whatever.
[15:40] Speaker 2: I also have a plastic free school, so I can't
[15:43] Speaker 2: send tiny Teddies unless I decant them or get the
[15:45] Speaker 2: box where you pour it into a lunch box and
[15:47] Speaker 2: then they have to have brought their lunchbox home because
[15:49] Speaker 2: you need the sections support, because you can't just rogue,
[15:52] Speaker 2: just like loose Paul, like tiny Teddies into their school bag,
[15:56] Speaker 2: you know, Like, honestly, I'm back to the paper bag
[15:58] Speaker 2: apple and five. I need to go to the bank
[16:01] Speaker 2: and just get out a bunch of five dollar notes, yeah,
[16:03] Speaker 2: and just be like there you go.
[16:04] Speaker 1: Lunch money. Friends. You burn through them so quickly, so quick.
[16:07] Speaker 2: It's like anytime I get cash out for anything, I'm like, oh,
[16:11] Speaker 2: I'm rich, and then.
[16:12] Speaker 1: I'm like, great, this will last me.
[16:14] Speaker 2: And then next minute I'm like, oh fuck, I'm bere
[16:17] Speaker 2: bah no good all over again you have no money,
[16:20] Speaker 2: and then I'm like, oh, I don't want to go
[16:21] Speaker 2: to the bank. Teddy had been saving coins at his
[16:24] Speaker 2: dad's house. Don't know where they came from, but like
[16:26] Speaker 2: good on him. And he had this whole like snaplot
[16:28] Speaker 2: full of coins. But he brought it to my house,
[16:30] Speaker 2: poor child of divorce. He knew I would like cash
[16:32] Speaker 2: it for him and like put it on something on Amazon.
[16:34] Speaker 2: He's like, Mum, I've been saving. Here are all these coins.
[16:37] Speaker 2: Can you buy me this thing on Amazon. I'm assuming
[16:39] Speaker 2: his dad wouldn't have done that, so I'm like, yeah,
[16:41] Speaker 2: all right, I'll do that because yay coins. I'll take
[16:45] Speaker 2: your fucking cornch was it? It was like twenty four dollars.
[16:49] Speaker 2: So I put all the coins in the like car
[16:50] Speaker 2: thing in the car. What's that freesale soul? Yeah, and
[16:53] Speaker 2: the car console. I was like, sweet, I'm fucking rich.
[16:55] Speaker 2: Gone one week of happy days at the counting gone.
[16:58] Speaker 1: Oh shame, you know, all gone. I got fleeced by
[17:01] Speaker 1: I got fleeced. Andy bought his fucking Amazon anyway, canteens.
[17:05] Speaker 1: Can we sort it out too much?
[17:07] Speaker 2: Yeah?
[17:07] Speaker 1: I feel like it's your school though.
[17:09] Speaker 2: It's what I'm getting because I feel like my school
[17:11] Speaker 2: feels really reasonable for the kids.
[17:13] Speaker 1: I don't know why.
[17:14] Speaker 2: In fact, the first time I did a lunch order,
[17:16] Speaker 2: I was like, oh my god, this is great. Yeah,
[17:18] Speaker 2: this every day I do this more. Yeah, takes out
[17:21] Speaker 2: all the effort. It's actually quite inexpensive. But yeah, something's
[17:25] Speaker 2: gone on there. No, it's now becoming the thing that
[17:27] Speaker 2: if I have to, I'll do a lunch order. I'm like,
[17:30] Speaker 2: there's inflation or something going on at your spare. I
[17:32] Speaker 2: want to hear from the DLSA how much your canteen
[17:35] Speaker 2: is fleecing you? Like, what's a lunch order average? I
[17:38] Speaker 2: feel like it should be around six to eight dollars. Yes,
[17:41] Speaker 2: so you reckon, but that's what it is at my school. Yeah,
[17:44] Speaker 2: per kid, you can feed them for lunch for six bucks?
[17:47] Speaker 2: And what do you get for that? Multiple things on
[17:48] Speaker 2: one thing? Multiple things, So like for Raff it's always
[17:52] Speaker 2: a sausage roll.
[17:53] Speaker 1: Lately, she loves her pineapple rings.
[17:56] Speaker 2: Ye, she's so your chilant one or two, she'll get
[17:58] Speaker 2: two and like a breadstick or something rogue.
[18:04] Speaker 1: It's just so random.
[18:05] Speaker 2: Well I imagine they can bolt buy them and they
[18:07] Speaker 2: don't go off to Then she likes a pineapple cup
[18:09] Speaker 2: as well, or an orange cups pineapple and.
[18:12] Speaker 1: Pineapple and pineapple pineapple three ways her jam.
[18:14] Speaker 2: Whereas eggs, it's always cook chuna, sushi rolls like the
[18:18] Speaker 2: baby Bop, Yes.
[18:19] Speaker 1: Red stick like a crowd pleaser, so not tied to
[18:24] Speaker 1: have breadsticks. And then he likes the tropical fruit cut. Cute.
[18:28] Speaker 1: It's quite simple. It's not a lot of food.
[18:30] Speaker 2: And this is what I mean, like the difference between
[18:32] Speaker 2: a six year old versus an eleven year old. I
[18:34] Speaker 2: feel like that's what you're dealing with. Yeah, and when
[18:37] Speaker 2: you add two, yeah, it gets up there.
[18:41] Speaker 1: Bring back the melted cheese roll, remember that? And what
[18:44] Speaker 1: was that? Like forty cents or something so chea you
[18:47] Speaker 1: can remember what was it? Yeah, it was about that
[18:50] Speaker 1: from pot cheese roll and it was fucking delicious.
[18:52] Speaker 2: Wild bread bread, pot cheese, hasty cheese wrapped the Jupiter
[18:59] Speaker 2: bar living I was sesameba oh yeah of course, yeah Jupiter.
[19:05] Speaker 1: We had the hot cheese roll. The one at our
[19:09] Speaker 1: school was frozen oranges. Oh my god, quarter frozen oranges.
[19:14] Speaker 1: I remember those so good.
[19:16] Speaker 2: Also the orange cup, like there was an orange like
[19:18] Speaker 2: plain orange juice, like the one you get, yeah.
[19:21] Speaker 1: Frozen and you'd like peel, but you'd get the plastic.
[19:24] Speaker 2: Spoon of the plastics flode would crack because it couldn't
[19:28] Speaker 2: you like always have like a spoon in your bag
[19:30] Speaker 2: for the frozen orange cup.
[19:31] Speaker 1: Speaking of sensory input, I had a whole process.
[19:33] Speaker 2: I remember, I remember, God, why did I diagnose you
[19:37] Speaker 2: back then?
[19:39] Speaker 1: The signs were so clear. I could never just eat
[19:43] Speaker 1: the frozen orange cut.
[19:43] Speaker 2: I was gonna say, do you remember how you ate
[19:45] Speaker 2: your frozen yogurt? You had a whole spiral system frozen
[19:49] Speaker 2: yogurt and then the way you would lick it and
[19:50] Speaker 2: put your finger around the rim.
[19:52] Speaker 1: Oh my god.
[19:53] Speaker 2: I have a process with how I eat salt with
[19:54] Speaker 2: your chips, I have a process of how I eat
[19:57] Speaker 2: oreos like I love it.
[19:58] Speaker 1: I enjoy the adventure, adventure. This food is an adventure.
[20:02] Speaker 2: But you took me to Epicurian for my birthday, and god,
[20:06] Speaker 2: it was made me so happy. That was like the
[20:09] Speaker 2: best birthday gift anyone's ever given me. I don't think
[20:11] Speaker 2: I've ever seen you light up like you did around
[20:15] Speaker 2: that buffet.
[20:16] Speaker 1: Genuinely, don't think I've ever seen you light up like this.
[20:18] Speaker 1: Can we talk about this because I feel.
[20:20] Speaker 2: Like this could be an elongated nottspom, but like DL's
[20:23] Speaker 2: need to know about Epicurean.
[20:25] Speaker 1: First of all, it is.
[20:26] Speaker 2: Like, guys, I know I'm a fraud. Everyone knows about Epicurian.
[20:29] Speaker 2: It's just that I connected you at Epicurian and I
[20:32] Speaker 2: look like such a good friend that it was like
[20:35] Speaker 2: everyone knows about it, it's famous.
[20:37] Speaker 1: Okay, I didn't know about it, and I feel silly.
[20:39] Speaker 2: And you know what, my other fellow bingchicken friend shout
[20:42] Speaker 2: out to Celn, friend of the pod. She messaged me
[20:45] Speaker 2: and she was like, how did I not know about this?
[20:47] Speaker 2: And I was like, we need to go, like you
[20:50] Speaker 2: need to experience this, okay for context, because I have
[20:53] Speaker 2: people slide into my DM saying how much is it?
[20:56] Speaker 1: Like what are we talking?
[20:57] Speaker 2: Because it is the most expensive buffet. It's Sydney done ing.
[21:01] Speaker 2: The seafood is incredible. Everything is incredible, like the shimi
[21:04] Speaker 2: milk in your mouth, and small details like this like
[21:07] Speaker 2: the weight staff all have gloves on and they've got
[21:10] Speaker 2: these uniforms. Obviously just's Disneyland. Not only wasn't food food food,
[21:15] Speaker 2: glorious food. It was neat and clean. Everyone had had
[21:18] Speaker 2: a shower. It was no shortage of stuff. Literally, there's
[21:21] Speaker 2: like an oyster tower, and when you take your oysters,
[21:24] Speaker 2: there's someone whose job is to stam there and replenish
[21:28] Speaker 2: the oyster tower.
[21:29] Speaker 1: It's one hundred and fifty dollars ahead, hundred and fifty
[21:31] Speaker 1: dollars ahead, fucking worth it.
[21:33] Speaker 2: Oh yeah, seriously, I had one hundred and fifty dollars worth
[21:36] Speaker 2: of prawns for sure. I one hundred and fifty dollars
[21:38] Speaker 2: worth of lobster tail for sure, and get this deals.
[21:42] Speaker 2: There are multiple condiments, multiple unlimited last and I said,
[21:48] Speaker 2: we have nine types, would you like twelve?
[21:51] Speaker 1: He said, we have twelve types of vinegar? What were
[21:54] Speaker 1: you after? And I said it was a Chinese one
[21:57] Speaker 1: that looks very orange. Yeah, which was answer. Out it came,
[22:01] Speaker 1: and out it came.
[22:02] Speaker 2: Jem was so happy you guys, you cuisine deals.
[22:06] Speaker 1: It was the hits, the highlights of that cuisine.
[22:09] Speaker 2: There's a whole sushi bar and beautiful like it's with stuff.
[22:14] Speaker 2: It's like everything is amazing and no.
[22:16] Speaker 1: Filler, all killer. Yes, there was heinan chicken and rice
[22:22] Speaker 1: is like a whole fucking fish.
[22:24] Speaker 2: They have lap representing for Thailand the dumplings bar.
[22:29] Speaker 1: But then you could get a Sunday roast and pizza pasta. Look,
[22:33] Speaker 1: I was judging other people's approaches.
[22:35] Speaker 2: I was able getting a roast. I was like, whoa,
[22:38] Speaker 2: you can get that at home. Yeh.
[22:40] Speaker 1: She was loading her plate up with rice. I was like,
[22:42] Speaker 1: what you doing. That is the bread of the Eastern culture.
[22:46] Speaker 1: Minimize the rice. You want to load up on chicken
[22:49] Speaker 1: and fish and all the good shit, not rice, guys.
[22:52] Speaker 1: This is anotherhing about Gem. She can't just enjoy herself.
[22:55] Speaker 2: She has to make sure everyone around her is enjoying
[22:57] Speaker 2: themselves too, and she likes to micromanage.
[22:59] Speaker 1: She was like now, I was like, halfway through eating,
[23:01] Speaker 1: she goes, now, Revs.
[23:02] Speaker 2: I know you love prawns, and prawns is your thing,
[23:04] Speaker 2: and I know you love that sauce, that seafood sauce.
[23:06] Speaker 2: I'm gonna need you to stop. And when you peel
[23:09] Speaker 2: your next prawn, I'm going to need you to try
[23:10] Speaker 2: this exact sauce. And I was like okay, and she's like, now,
[23:13] Speaker 2: I know you're not gonna want I was like, stop
[23:15] Speaker 2: selling me.
[23:15] Speaker 1: I'll do it here for your birthday. I'm going to
[23:17] Speaker 1: do whatever you want. This is your birthday lunch, and
[23:21] Speaker 1: I will try anything you want.
[23:22] Speaker 2: As I was literally peeling the prawnch like it's like
[23:25] Speaker 2: so many flavors in one it's going to change your
[23:27] Speaker 2: outlook on prawns.
[23:28] Speaker 1: I'm like, it's not, but okay, let's do it.
[23:30] Speaker 2: And then as I'm like dipping my prawn in the
[23:32] Speaker 2: sauce and like moving from the sauce to my mouth,
[23:34] Speaker 2: she goes, it's sour.
[23:35] Speaker 1: I'm just wanting you it's sour. And I was like, Chimmy,
[23:37] Speaker 1: let me eat the fucking prawn. Let me eat it
[23:41] Speaker 1: and enjoy it. Stop talking, and how was it? It
[23:43] Speaker 1: was fantastic? And then jim her eyes lit up again.
[23:47] Speaker 1: I went, oh yum, and she went is it right?
[23:50] Speaker 1: Isn't it the best?
[23:51] Speaker 2: And I was like, it's the best. And then I
[23:53] Speaker 2: saw the disappointment in your face. But I went back
[23:55] Speaker 2: to the other sauce.
[23:55] Speaker 1: It's fine, you cocktail saucest fallen. It's fine, I get it.
[23:59] Speaker 2: But the fact that you tried it and you liked
[24:01] Speaker 2: it it made me proud because it was like, how
[24:04] Speaker 2: Asian people eat, yes, fresh prawns. We don't do mayonnaise. Okay,
[24:08] Speaker 2: we don't do seafood cocktail sauce. We do another type
[24:10] Speaker 2: of saurce, which frankly is elite. In my opinion, it
[24:14] Speaker 2: was great.
[24:15] Speaker 1: It was great. Anyway, I'm proud of you for trying it. Guys.
[24:17] Speaker 2: Some of the most fun you can have with Gem
[24:19] Speaker 2: is to go to it and specifically tie but any
[24:21] Speaker 2: Asian restaurant and let her order for the table.
[24:24] Speaker 1: It is really fucking fun. That is a low key
[24:26] Speaker 1: flex of mine. It's really I'm not good at.
[24:29] Speaker 2: Taking charge of social situationally anything else.
[24:32] Speaker 1: Well, I just like, just be honest anything. Don't ask
[24:35] Speaker 1: me to book an airbnb for a girl's weekend. I'm
[24:37] Speaker 1: not going to get it. We would never.
[24:39] Speaker 2: But also I can't handle the pressure. That's why I
[24:42] Speaker 2: back away because I'm like.
[24:43] Speaker 1: But no pressure for ordering for the table, like I
[24:46] Speaker 1: would feel a.
[24:46] Speaker 2: Lot of pressure for Thaie cuisine. I know I can
[24:49] Speaker 2: nail it. Yeah, every time. Because it's family styles, We're
[24:53] Speaker 2: going to share it all. No, but you don't just
[24:55] Speaker 2: get the food, guys, You get the food Safari. Gem
[24:57] Speaker 2: is going to narrate and hold your hand, walk you
[25:00] Speaker 2: through the backstory of every dish. She's going to tell
[25:02] Speaker 2: you what order to have things in and what pairs
[25:04] Speaker 2: well together. Really important.
[25:06] Speaker 1: If you want a chat, don't come because the chat
[25:11] Speaker 1: is now.
[25:11] Speaker 2: This is a dish that originates from the northeast of Thailand, goes.
[25:16] Speaker 1: I'm so proud of you. You've retained the information. Yeah,
[25:19] Speaker 1: because I haven't done it once. I've been on many
[25:22] Speaker 1: food safaris with Jim. I love it.
[25:24] Speaker 2: It's really fun and you always eat something out of
[25:26] Speaker 2: your comfort zone that you always get to try something new.
[25:28] Speaker 1: And yeah, it's very fun. It's very very good.
[25:30] Speaker 2: But anyway, yes, I've never seen you so happy. I'm
[25:33] Speaker 2: taking wedding day, I'm talking children's births, I'm talking everything.
[25:38] Speaker 1: Then at the epicurean buffet.
[25:40] Speaker 2: At the Crown, Yep, I'm dreaming about the lobster tail
[25:43] Speaker 2: and that grain sauce.
[25:44] Speaker 1: I want to be back there within the month. I
[25:47] Speaker 1: want to go back there just for that. But you
[25:49] Speaker 1: have to book DLS.
[25:51] Speaker 2: Like this is the thing you can go for breakfast.
[25:53] Speaker 2: It's the same food without booking, you can just turn up.
[25:55] Speaker 2: So we have to keep sitting. Yeah, I see now,
[25:58] Speaker 2: I know it's breakfast different. There weren't eggs on offer. Yeah,
[26:01] Speaker 2: there are eggs at breakfast, Okay, because they weren't on
[26:04] Speaker 2: offer at they weren't. Sure of course, you're sure, I
[26:09] Speaker 2: will say d l's like I was disappointed in myself
[26:13] Speaker 2: that I didn't have enough stomach space to.
[26:16] Speaker 1: Really indulge in the desserts.
[26:19] Speaker 2: Yeah, I ran over that. I think they know that
[26:22] Speaker 2: because the dessert bar is amazing. But it's not like
[26:24] Speaker 2: the rest of the place. What do you mean it's
[26:26] Speaker 2: not as epic as everything?
[26:28] Speaker 1: It is so epic epic.
[26:29] Speaker 2: It's not chocolate tower, like a literal chocolate fountain tower.
[26:34] Speaker 1: River River, It's Willy Wonka. It's Willy fucking Wonka. What
[26:38] Speaker 1: do you mean, Reds you were just take it back.
[26:41] Speaker 2: I'm so sorry, But yeah, I think everyone's fucking fool
[26:44] Speaker 2: by that point.
[26:44] Speaker 1: That's why there's just like mountains and mounds of dishes
[26:46] Speaker 1: of Smarties.
[26:47] Speaker 2: And so much more, so much more. It's incredible. Anyway,
[26:51] Speaker 2: I'm just so proud of myself. Give so my love language.
[26:53] Speaker 2: And I was like, I fucking nailed this. Do you
[26:56] Speaker 2: know what I have to go back for that I
[26:57] Speaker 2: didn't eat is the fur. Yeah. I didn't have space
[27:00] Speaker 2: for the fur. And I was so sad about it,
[27:02] Speaker 2: and I was like, what do I do? I was
[27:04] Speaker 2: like rousing on me for my food, Like we didn't
[27:06] Speaker 2: come in to eat lettuce. I'm like, I'm building up
[27:08] Speaker 2: a seafood cocktail salady thing.
[27:10] Speaker 1: Just leave me alone.
[27:11] Speaker 2: I'm so sorry, it's.
[27:14] Speaker 1: So hectic for you. So cool, so other hot tip deal.
[27:23] Speaker 2: Don't go on a Sunday because it's fifteen percent surcharge
[27:26] Speaker 2: and when you're paying one hundred and fifty dollars a head,
[27:29] Speaker 2: it's a lot of money. Go during the week if
[27:32] Speaker 2: you can, which no one can because everyone's probably working.
[27:35] Speaker 2: It's the kind of thing I would fucking love to
[27:37] Speaker 2: take my kids to, but they don't fucking deserve it.
[27:39] Speaker 1: What one hundred dollar meal? I'm not gonna lie like.
[27:42] Speaker 1: I looked at people who brought their kids.
[27:44] Speaker 2: Whole families, whole families, guys on net level, like you've
[27:48] Speaker 2: got two kids, that's three hundred bucks, and what are
[27:51] Speaker 2: they eating?
[27:51] Speaker 1: Cereal?
[27:52] Speaker 2: Like mistake? What are they doing here? Get them out?
[27:55] Speaker 2: I had a friend slide into my dance and she.
[27:58] Speaker 1: Was like people's experience, Like, well, this is my busy brain.
[28:01] Speaker 2: I was so present with you, reps, and I was
[28:04] Speaker 2: present for every single fucking mouthful of food.
[28:07] Speaker 1: Also to present so higher aware of the people around
[28:10] Speaker 1: me in the room. Only she was a bing chicken.
[28:13] Speaker 1: She was also like a meer cat with a swivel neck.
[28:16] Speaker 1: It was just like what you mung and what you mum?
[28:19] Speaker 2: Yeah, I was across at all. I wasn't going to
[28:21] Speaker 2: miss out on shit. There was a woman there.
[28:23] Speaker 1: Who celebrated her birthday.
[28:25] Speaker 2: There was like eighteen people on her table, and I
[28:28] Speaker 2: was like, that's a dream party.
[28:30] Speaker 1: This is my dream.
[28:31] Speaker 2: Fuck my fortieth I I wish I put budget, take
[28:36] Speaker 2: ten friends of the Epicurean and then you get to
[28:38] Speaker 2: pick what they eat.
[28:40] Speaker 1: No, no, the joy for me is watching them enjoy it.
[28:43] Speaker 2: No, no, no, I would make joys and suggestions.
[28:46] Speaker 1: Let's be real, I would.
[28:48] Speaker 2: The joy for you is watching them enjoy what you've
[28:51] Speaker 2: curated for them, honey peek. And then what would really
[28:54] Speaker 2: make it for you is if we had a private
[28:57] Speaker 2: So it's just Epicurean for gem and her guest has
[29:00] Speaker 2: picked everyone's plates and then projected onto the wall is
[29:03] Speaker 2: some documentary she's just discovered on Netflix and we all
[29:05] Speaker 2: have to watch it and enjoy it.
[29:07] Speaker 1: I just came in my pants, that's the fuck. That's
[29:14] Speaker 1: what I should have organized, and everyone has to come
[29:18] Speaker 1: in track.
[29:19] Speaker 2: He's no makeup, yes yes, yes, yes, our boots come
[29:22] Speaker 2: fi gra less topknots or.
[29:24] Speaker 1: You do have to go with loose pants. I did
[29:26] Speaker 1: tell you that. Did you appreciate that?
[29:27] Speaker 2: I was like, hey, babe, I'm going to pick up
[29:29] Speaker 2: at this time and this is what you should wear.
[29:31] Speaker 1: Yes, yes, because I know you stressed about that stuff.
[29:33] Speaker 1: I did.
[29:33] Speaker 2: I wore like this long skirt with the loosest elastic
[29:37] Speaker 2: that sometimes I'm it's going to hit my angle.
[29:39] Speaker 1: Ideally you go naked, like just to like have no restrictions.
[29:43] Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I will say you chose to right, We're
[29:45] Speaker 2: getting so deep into those tails.
[29:47] Speaker 1: But it's like that was my life.
[29:49] Speaker 2: No, it's like body oil in the shower. You need
[29:51] Speaker 2: all the details. So REVS picked a twelve four.
[29:54] Speaker 1: You can just turn up. No, But I like, because
[29:57] Speaker 1: you're not, you can't eat before, Like I, you can't
[30:00] Speaker 1: eat before. I was so hungry. I was a growl.
[30:05] Speaker 2: And I was hosting a couple of girlfriends in their
[30:07] Speaker 2: babies beforehand, and I went to missus Jones the baker
[30:09] Speaker 2: and bought a fucking plethora of pastries for them, and
[30:12] Speaker 2: I was the yearning, oh my god.
[30:14] Speaker 1: And I was staying there and I was like, no, because.
[30:16] Speaker 2: You're going to the epicurean. Yes, you must not eat
[30:19] Speaker 2: a thing. Anyway, it was worth it, That's all I'm saying.
[30:22] Speaker 1: It was honestly like watching someone like call a baseball game.
[30:25] Speaker 1: She was like, she's loading up on rice.
[30:26] Speaker 2: Oh, look at that, going for the noodle's first interesting choice.
[30:31] Speaker 2: And I literally heard her under the breath at one point,
[30:34] Speaker 2: go don't fill up on pepsi, gym, don't fill up
[30:36] Speaker 2: on Do you know what it was like?
[30:38] Speaker 1: You were playing like you were on the amazing race.
[30:40] Speaker 2: I know, but it was so first quenching. And I'm
[30:43] Speaker 2: not even a pepsi goal. I'm a coke girl, and
[30:45] Speaker 2: I must say it took up dessert room.
[30:47] Speaker 1: I regret it.
[30:48] Speaker 2: I would do it differently. I would not order a pepsi.
[30:50] Speaker 2: The bubbles take up space. Anyway, I'm glad we had
[30:53] Speaker 2: this conversation. I will say that tea after lovely choice
[30:57] Speaker 2: us and tea.
[30:57] Speaker 1: It was good. It was good. It was good. We
[30:59] Speaker 1: had digestion it did it just brought it all, guys.
[31:03] Speaker 1: We had a great day. We had a great day.
[31:06] Speaker 1: It was lovely. I can recommend that fun. You know what,
[31:13] Speaker 1: I don't have time for. What do you have time for?
[31:15] Speaker 2: Jim?
[31:15] Speaker 1: It's definitely not the buffet, so much time for the buffet.
[31:18] Speaker 2: No, what I don't have time for is being a
[31:21] Speaker 2: woman with ADHD trying to get my daughter into an
[31:24] Speaker 2: appointment to.
[31:25] Speaker 1: Get assessed for potential ADHD.
[31:27] Speaker 2: Oh nightmare, literally working that executive functioning, like being stretched
[31:32] Speaker 2: to the edges making sure I remember all of the
[31:34] Speaker 2: details of her appointment.
[31:36] Speaker 1: And it's not near our house and we had to drive,
[31:38] Speaker 1: and it was a mission. I had to pull her
[31:39] Speaker 1: out of school time blindness as well.
[31:41] Speaker 2: Yeah, all of that pre filling fucking forms and all
[31:44] Speaker 2: this shit to get to the appointment. Fine parking, try
[31:47] Speaker 2: and get their own time, because I know that shit's important.
[31:50] Speaker 2: And then to find out that they had somehow dropped
[31:53] Speaker 2: out booking and double booked us.
[31:56] Speaker 1: Oh my god, I can't a word.
[32:00] Speaker 2: Day two, well, yeah, I had to fuck you guys
[32:03] Speaker 2: up and be like I got.
[32:04] Speaker 1: To take rap to this point. I'm gonna be like
[32:06] Speaker 1: pull around of school.
[32:07] Speaker 2: Gotta let the school know, you know, otherwise you get
[32:09] Speaker 2: that email being like your child was marked as absent
[32:11] Speaker 2: with SUTs on you anyway, all for it to go
[32:13] Speaker 2: to tits up and now you have to go again.
[32:15] Speaker 1: Yeah, and the water to do it all again. That's
[32:17] Speaker 1: the worst part. Yes, and they got me in two weeks.
[32:20] Speaker 1: But the thing is is like raf bless her.
[32:22] Speaker 2: She was like nervous, yeah, you know, in the car,
[32:26] Speaker 2: I was like managing her.
[32:27] Speaker 1: She's like, what are they going to ask me? I
[32:29] Speaker 1: was like, maybe, girl, you just have to be.
[32:31] Speaker 2: You don't need to worry about anything. And she was
[32:34] Speaker 2: like nervous, excited, all of that stuff. And then I
[32:36] Speaker 2: could tell she was ready, you know, she was like.
[32:39] Speaker 1: Ready for anything.
[32:40] Speaker 2: And then sure enough I was like I'm sorry, kiddo,
[32:43] Speaker 2: and she's like, wait what We're going back in the
[32:45] Speaker 2: car and doing that long drive in peak hour traffic.
[32:49] Speaker 2: I'm like, yeah, sorry, babe. Something about time wasting. There's
[32:52] Speaker 2: nothing more upsetting.
[32:53] Speaker 1: It's so upsetting.
[32:54] Speaker 2: This is why I wigged out at the laser of
[32:56] Speaker 2: hair removal chick, because when I was four minutes late
[32:59] Speaker 2: or whatever and she's like, sorry, booking's gone, and I
[33:01] Speaker 2: was like, she's like, when can you come back?
[33:03] Speaker 1: I was like, this is it, babe. First of all,
[33:04] Speaker 1: I shaved and then I got here. There is no
[33:07] Speaker 1: other time like one has time for appointments in their week.
[33:10] Speaker 2: When we've got kids in jobs and lives, it is
[33:14] Speaker 2: so hard adhd on no adhd to.
[33:16] Speaker 1: Find a time for an appointment.
[33:17] Speaker 2: That is another level when you've got to add all
[33:19] Speaker 2: your time blindness and appointments and all that stuff.
[33:21] Speaker 1: Like no one has more time.
[33:24] Speaker 2: I was proud of myself though I didn't shoot the messenger.
[33:27] Speaker 2: The lady behind the counter was so kind like me
[33:30] Speaker 2: at the last I was like, this is the time,
[33:32] Speaker 2: this is the time, this is the one time I've got.
[33:33] Speaker 1: I'm gonna have to go somewhere else.
[33:34] Speaker 2: But I was honestly inside, I was so fucked off.
[33:37] Speaker 2: But I was like, what am I going to achieve
[33:39] Speaker 2: by being a cunt to this woman in this moment?
[33:41] Speaker 2: Like she didn't take the booking, she was scrambling. She
[33:44] Speaker 2: felt so terrible. She was deeply apologetic. She was like,
[33:47] Speaker 2: I'll try and get you in really soon. I'm so sorry.
[33:50] Speaker 2: It's like doing all the right things and then you
[33:52] Speaker 2: know how, like someone just dowses water on your fire.
[33:54] Speaker 2: She did that very successfully. Yeah, I bet she could
[33:57] Speaker 2: run a master class in it. And I just felt
[33:59] Speaker 2: the wind out of my set else and I was
[34:00] Speaker 2: like fuck, and then I've got to do this again
[34:02] Speaker 2: and then take the time out of work.
[34:05] Speaker 1: Yeah, and pull rough out of school again.
[34:07] Speaker 2: It's like when you take a day off, a sick
[34:10] Speaker 2: day will do it and there's no one's fault. But like,
[34:12] Speaker 2: you know, you sick day, you rest whatever you've got to,
[34:14] Speaker 2: and then it just fucks with the rest of your week,
[34:17] Speaker 2: you know, like all the work you were supposed to
[34:19] Speaker 2: do on that day just has to go somewhere, So
[34:21] Speaker 2: then your workload and everything doubles, and it's like, wow,
[34:24] Speaker 2: why did I even rest? Like I think that's why
[34:26] Speaker 2: we're also scared to take time, but then it's all
[34:30] Speaker 2: all roads lean to burnout always always, But oh man,
[34:34] Speaker 2: I'm devo for.
[34:35] Speaker 1: You, Thanks babe. It was really, really, really fucking annoying.
[34:38] Speaker 2: Like booking appointments is I don't want to use joy space,
[34:42] Speaker 2: but it's not a joy spare. But honestly, REVS and
[34:45] Speaker 2: I have friends, for whatever reason, their week is full
[34:48] Speaker 2: of appointments.
[34:49] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[34:49] Speaker 2: People prioritize themselves and they seem unbothered. Get the good, Aunt,
[34:54] Speaker 2: I've got an appointment. I'm like, what do we want?
[34:57] Speaker 1: What do you do? I don't have appointments.
[34:59] Speaker 2: I go to work, I come, I take my kids
[35:01] Speaker 2: to their engagement And your kids have.
[35:03] Speaker 1: Lots of appointments.
[35:06] Speaker 2: And allergy Like, you know, I feel like Iggy has
[35:08] Speaker 2: always got appointments because of allergies and stuff.
[35:11] Speaker 1: You know.
[35:11] Speaker 2: Well, I feel like that all got ironed out in
[35:13] Speaker 2: the early years, like he had his adenoids removed and
[35:16] Speaker 2: all that stuff, and yes he has allergies, but they were.
[35:19] Speaker 1: All like dealt with. Yeah, we're moving on.
[35:22] Speaker 2: But you know, people who just fill their week with appointments,
[35:25] Speaker 2: I don't know what they are or what they do,
[35:27] Speaker 2: but I've just got a collection of friends who always
[35:30] Speaker 2: seem to be off to appointment. Yeah, but they're not
[35:33] Speaker 2: burning out, they're not breaking down, they're not having adult
[35:37] Speaker 2: late stage diagnosis of ADHD. And you know, I think
[35:40] Speaker 2: they're just fully functioning adults who live life in a
[35:43] Speaker 2: really balanced way.
[35:45] Speaker 1: That's never be asked. But you know there are people
[35:49] Speaker 1: like that. I know. I find it so so, so
[35:52] Speaker 1: so hard to get to this.
[35:53] Speaker 2: I've never felt more seen than when I heard Mere
[35:56] Speaker 2: Friedman say that she hated getting a facial, and I
[36:00] Speaker 2: was like, oh my god, that's me. But I want
[36:04] Speaker 2: the outcome of what a facial gives you, glowy skin,
[36:08] Speaker 2: you know, feeling pampered. So while I'm in it, I'm like,
[36:11] Speaker 2: oh God, hurry up, like a hair appointment.
[36:14] Speaker 1: I'm the same. Yeah, yeah, yeah, you know, love you
[36:17] Speaker 1: sal yeah, absolute DL. And we love it a bit
[36:19] Speaker 1: And actually I enjoy spending time with her, but it's
[36:22] Speaker 1: still as a torture for you. Well, it's just a thing.
[36:24] Speaker 2: It's a thing that I've got to show up for
[36:26] Speaker 2: and it's going to take time getting my nails done.
[36:28] Speaker 1: Another thing, I quite like it. No, I can't use
[36:30] Speaker 1: my phone. I hate it. Oh yeah, you just have
[36:33] Speaker 1: to sit there.
[36:33] Speaker 2: Yes, I quite like it. My brain goes to all
[36:35] Speaker 2: kinds of places. They put a podcast in.
[36:37] Speaker 1: No fascinating, aren't we little cree weird little creatures. All right,
[36:40] Speaker 1: REPSI cure me, hit me with your not spot. Oh
[36:44] Speaker 1: I've got a great one now.
[36:45] Speaker 2: We recently asked the DLS what are their favorite not
[36:48] Speaker 2: spawns of all time, and there was a resounding number
[36:52] Speaker 2: one standout.
[36:53] Speaker 1: Hit, which was my shower oil hack.
[36:55] Speaker 2: The fact of just using shower oil and then the
[36:57] Speaker 2: shower oils over the years.
[36:58] Speaker 1: We all love a bit of shower oil.
[37:00] Speaker 2: So the one people ask me all the time, like
[37:02] Speaker 2: which one of you did you end up landing on?
[37:04] Speaker 2: Like what's your Ride or Die shower oil, and annoyingly,
[37:07] Speaker 2: my Ride or Die was the grow To skin Wizard.
[37:11] Speaker 2: It's actually a kid's oil. It was a bath oil.
[37:13] Speaker 2: Skin oil souses fucking beautiful. But unfortunately grow To has
[37:19] Speaker 2: is no more. It's been discontinued and they don't make
[37:21] Speaker 2: skin Wizard anymore, and it's devastating. And when grow To
[37:24] Speaker 2: shut down, they did this huge factory sale and guys,
[37:27] Speaker 2: I bought fifty oh bottles bottles of the oil and
[37:30] Speaker 2: I am on my last ten, so it's running out,
[37:33] Speaker 2: and I know it was devastated. Anyway, my god, as
[37:35] Speaker 2: the universe would have it, because apparently I live in
[37:38] Speaker 2: a simulation.
[37:39] Speaker 1: I found myself.
[37:40] Speaker 2: At dinner with Go Too founder Zoe Foster Blake, sitting
[37:44] Speaker 2: next to her, and we were chatting, and I was like, so,
[37:46] Speaker 2: I hate to talk work, but I have to ask you.
[37:50] Speaker 2: We are huge fans in my house because my son
[37:53] Speaker 2: has exactly the same skin as me, and I cover
[37:55] Speaker 2: him in skin Wizard as well.
[37:56] Speaker 1: We are huge fans of skin Wizard. I don't know
[37:58] Speaker 1: what to do now that grow To is no more.
[38:00] Speaker 2: And she gave me a bit of backstory about grow
[38:02] Speaker 2: To and why it is no more and whatever she said.
[38:03] Speaker 2: But I'll tell you, actually, we have another product and
[38:06] Speaker 2: it's pretty much the same product, but it's for grown ups.
[38:09] Speaker 1: So if you want to get it, oh rejoice.
[38:12] Speaker 2: It's called oil Over and it's the adult shower like
[38:15] Speaker 2: body oil. Anyway, I was like, well, praise be to
[38:18] Speaker 2: the skin gods. And it is that same delicious it's
[38:23] Speaker 2: the same formulation and do you know what?
[38:24] Speaker 1: It smells? So smells so good.
[38:26] Speaker 2: It just does what it says it's going to do,
[38:28] Speaker 2: which is my new thing about beauty products. Products that
[38:31] Speaker 2: do what they say they're going to do. It nourishes,
[38:34] Speaker 2: it stays, it doesn't sit on top of your skin.
[38:36] Speaker 2: It like really goes into the skin, Smells great, easy
[38:39] Speaker 2: to apply, a great bottle, all that stuff. Ten out
[38:41] Speaker 2: of ten product go to oil Over. Linking the notwich anyway,
[38:46] Speaker 2: Jem hit me with the nut spot and is it
[38:49] Speaker 2: the epicurean at the ground.
[38:50] Speaker 1: Well, I think I.
[38:52] Speaker 2: Indulged enormously in of mine not spawn. Thank you for
[38:56] Speaker 2: swimming around in that with me, DLS. But I'm going
[38:59] Speaker 2: to actually pass the mic to produce a Kate Katie
[39:03] Speaker 2: has got her very own lotspun to bring to the pod,
[39:05] Speaker 2: and I think dls need to hear all about it.
[39:07] Speaker 1: A great girlfriend. Hit me away with your nuts spot.
[39:10] Speaker 3: I feel all nervous now, Jim, you choked me up. Okay,
[39:13] Speaker 3: So we were gifted this product to the office. I
[39:16] Speaker 3: think a DL owns the brand life Unhurried. She sent
[39:20] Speaker 3: us Sleep Please, which is like the hot Chocolate Hot
[39:24] Speaker 3: Chocolate upgrade.
[39:25] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[39:25] Speaker 3: So it's got like cacao and magnesium and soothing botanical
[39:29] Speaker 3: blends all that to say I had the best night
[39:32] Speaker 3: sleep of my life. You're kiddy, it can't be a coincidence.
[39:36] Speaker 1: Oh my god.
[39:37] Speaker 2: And this is like a pre bed drink, so.
[39:41] Speaker 3: It has all the health stuff in it. But then
[39:43] Speaker 3: you're meant to sweeten it yourself, okay, and I don't
[39:45] Speaker 3: think I sweetened it enough. It did taste very natural, natural.
[39:49] Speaker 2: Okay, and raw like a Marcher without any sweeten it
[39:52] Speaker 2: like that vibe.
[39:53] Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah yeah, But yeah, it can't be
[39:55] Speaker 3: a coincidence. Best night sleep, Okay.
[39:56] Speaker 1: What would you sweeten it with? Honey? Honey or my
[40:00] Speaker 1: oh wows on board? Do you add milk or is
[40:05] Speaker 1: it you just add water? It's up to you. I
[40:06] Speaker 1: added milk. I added almond milk yu.
[40:09] Speaker 2: Okay, great, I've got to try this because you know
[40:10] Speaker 2: we're chasing a good night's sleep every day of our
[40:13] Speaker 2: down lives, aren't we.
[40:14] Speaker 1: What's it called sleep? Please? Sleep? Please? Please please please
[40:19] Speaker 1: give me some sleep?
[40:21] Speaker 2: Great not spawn kdie and report back if you're going
[40:25] Speaker 2: to continue with the.
[40:26] Speaker 1: Life unhurried sleep? Please, I want to know. Is this
[40:28] Speaker 1: going to be a part of your routine full time?
[40:30] Speaker 1: I will I will report that you're not so annoying.
[40:33] Speaker 2: Speaking of sleep, well, I have never slept better than
[40:36] Speaker 2: when Deron was sleeping next to me, and I feel
[40:39] Speaker 2: like I'd completely.
[40:40] Speaker 1: Forgotten about that.
[40:41] Speaker 2: I know you're not a bed share, so you can't relate,
[40:43] Speaker 2: but I am actually such a cave bear and I
[40:47] Speaker 2: love to sleep next to boy bear, and I just
[40:51] Speaker 2: feel like it's why I like Buster on my bed,
[40:53] Speaker 2: you know, I just feel safe and like, I don't know,
[40:55] Speaker 2: it must be a throwback to my cave woman ancestors,
[40:57] Speaker 2: but like, I've never sleep better than when he's sleep
[41:00] Speaker 2: next to me. And obviously I don't have that full
[41:01] Speaker 2: time because he's on the other side of the world
[41:04] Speaker 2: and I we've got a little taste being in New
[41:06] Speaker 2: York and now back.
[41:07] Speaker 1: To just me and Buster in the big big bed.
[41:10] Speaker 2: And plus you're dealing with jet lag. That's never fit lag, Perry.
[41:12] Speaker 2: I need some of this fucking sleep, please. I'm going
[41:14] Speaker 2: to take some home today.
[41:15] Speaker 1: DL's.
[41:16] Speaker 2: Before we wrap up this unhinged episode, we just want
[41:19] Speaker 2: to remind you that we have a more time episode
[41:21] Speaker 2: coming out this Thursday, where we tap into discussions around
[41:25] Speaker 2: parents doing kids' homework and how we feel about that.
[41:29] Speaker 2: Here's a little taster With Teddy, I'm like, you got
[41:32] Speaker 2: to do it yourself, and yeah, he doesn't want to
[41:34] Speaker 2: do it. I might say something like, well, I think
[41:36] Speaker 2: you should finish that before you start that. You can't
[41:38] Speaker 2: watch TV until you've completed that. But if he doesn't
[41:40] Speaker 2: do it, then he's got to turn up with egg
[41:41] Speaker 2: on his face. I'm a big believer that that's how
[41:43] Speaker 2: you learn. Okay, if I force him and do it
[41:47] Speaker 2: for him and make sure he's done it, when's he
[41:49] Speaker 2: going to learn responsibility?
[41:50] Speaker 1: Yeah? Right, Oh, I think that's fair.
[41:52] Speaker 2: And also if he crashes out and has a shit
[41:55] Speaker 2: presentation and he sees other kids doing a good job,
[41:58] Speaker 2: there's a lesson. Is that bigger lesson in that than
[42:01] Speaker 2: me doing it for him him going quite good. Now,
[42:07] Speaker 2: if that was your jam, come and join the more
[42:09] Speaker 2: time fan. We're always welcoming DLS, and we're so grateful

[42:21] Speaker 2: on the Live Wild West.
[42:23] Speaker 1: It's true.
[42:23] Speaker 2: We put some things that are a little more pervy,
[42:25] Speaker 2: a little more inside thoughts.
[42:28] Speaker 1: That's a little more embarrassing, yes, definitely more embarrassing.

[43:33] Speaker 2: it and maybe just maybe walk away feeling like you
[43:37] Speaker 2: understand yourself a little better, which frankly is better than therapy.
