About half of my college students shouldn't even be in my classroom. I say that as a professor at an HBCU — not from a cheap seat, but from the front of the classroom. Here's the truth nobody wants to say out loud: a 4-year degree is NOT the right path for every single person. Some of y'all are walking out with $40,000 in student loan debt for a path that was never built for who you are. In today's episode, I'm breaking down 5 skills that pay $5,000+ a week, cost less than ONE semester at a state school, and can be learned in 90 days or less. These jobs are bulletproof — they can't be done remotely, can't be offshored, and AI can't replace them. Whether you're 17 trying to figure out your next move, 35 stuck at a job that doesn't pay enough, or 50 wondering if it's too late — this episode is for you. If you're a parent watching this, please listen carefully. If your child is gifted with their hands, don't push them into a 4-year university just because that's what your generation valued. That's not love. That's pressure. This is about freedom. This is about wealth. This is about peace. ⏱️ TIMESTAMPS: 0:00 - Intro: Half My Students Shouldn't Be Here 3:00 - Why College Isn't For Everyone 6:00 - Skill #1: AI Implementation ($110K-$200K) 10:00 - Skill #2: Specialized Technical Trades ($85K-$160K) 14:00 - Skill #3: Cybersecurity ($99K-$200K) 18:00 - Skill #4: Data Literacy & Visualization ($88K-$132K) 21:00 - Skill #5: Sales & Revenue Operations ($154K-$250K) 24:00 - The 90-Day Strategy To Start 🔗 RESOURCES MENTIONED IN THIS EPISODE: - Pre-Order My New Book "Stop Living Paycheck to Paycheck" (Pre-order before August 25th to get $275 in FREE bonuses): 👉 https://www.anthonyoneal.com/book - Get AI Certified with Careerist (The same program that helped my contractor earn $10K): 👉 https://www.anthonyoneal.com/learnai - Enroll at Regent University & Apply for the $10,000 In The Black Scholarship + $500 Sign-Up Scholarship: 👉 https://www.regent.edu/anthony ABOUT ANTHONY ONEAL: Anthony O'Neal is a nationally bestselling author, speaker, and host of The Table with Anthony O'Neal. [0:00] \[SPEAKER_00\]: As you all know, by now, I am a professor at the HBCU currently.
[0:05] \[SPEAKER_00\]: And I want to, I want to, I want to say this respectfully and say this of front, about half of my students should not be sitting in my classroom.
[0:17] \[SPEAKER_00\]: And I say that every single semester, and here's the truth, it's not because they're not smart, no, no, it's not because they don't belong in higher education.
[0:27] \[SPEAKER_00\]: But because a four-year degree is not the right path for every single person.
[0:34] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Some of them should be in trade school.
[0:36] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Some of them should be learning a skill.
[0:38] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Some of them are walking out with $40,000 in debt for a path that was never, ever built for who they are internally.
[0:51] \[SPEAKER_00\]: today I want to talk to those students today I want to talk to those parents and to anyone watching this that who feels stuck any job that is not paying enough.
[1:02] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Today I'm going to show you five jobs, five skills that pay six figures or more and it caused less than a semester at a state school and can be earned within 90 days or less period.
[1:16] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Let me say this clearly, so nobody watching this video listening to this podcast, misunderstands what I am saying today.
[1:25] \[SPEAKER_00\]: I am not anti-college.
[1:27] \[SPEAKER_00\]: I teach at one.
[1:29] \[SPEAKER_00\]: I'm working on my doctorate at one.
[1:31] \[SPEAKER_00\]: I firmly believe in higher education.
[1:34] \[SPEAKER_00\]: My long term vision is to be the dean.
[1:37] \[SPEAKER_00\]: and eventually a president at an HBCU.
[1:41] \[SPEAKER_00\]: So when I tell you that college is not for everyone, I'm not saying it from a cheap seat perspective.
[1:48] \[SPEAKER_00\]: I'm saying it from the front of the classroom.
[1:51] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Makes sense?
[1:53] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Hopefully you understand this.
[1:54] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Because here's the truth.
[1:55] \[SPEAKER_00\]: I see this every single semester.
[1:57] \[SPEAKER_00\]: About half of my students, light up when we're talking about finance and credit and how to invest in business and strategy to building wealth.
[2:05] \[SPEAKER_00\]: they are in the right place.
[2:07] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Now the other half are there because somebody told them they had to be there, their parents, their high school counselor, their teachers, society, the world.
[2:18] \[SPEAKER_00\]: But they are the one that's going to be paying back tens of thousands of dollars for a pack that does not match who they are and what they actually want.
[2:31] \[SPEAKER_00\]: If you are 17 years old and love working with your hands, college honestly might be a waste of your money.
[2:41] \[SPEAKER_00\]: If you're 35 years old and you're stuck at a job or 50 years old, stuck at a job, not paying enough.
[2:47] \[SPEAKER_00\]: You don't need a four year degree technically to change your life.
[2:51] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Honestly, you just need a skill the market will pay for.
[2:57] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Remember to tell you all, wealth is about strategy, knowing what this strategy is, that's the most important thing.
[3:07] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Here's what changed in this country.
[3:10] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Employers stop caring about the diploma and start caring about what you can actually do.
[3:18] \[SPEAKER_00\]: And honestly, in my opinion, that's good news.
[3:27] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Here's a truth.
[3:28] \[SPEAKER_00\]: College is for some people.
[3:31] \[SPEAKER_00\]: A skill is for everyone.
[3:33] \[SPEAKER_00\]: And consumer debt, student loans included, steals from your future and bills someone else is.
[3:40] \[SPEAKER_00\]: So I want to get into these five skills and five jobs that I believe are important for everyone to really understand and see if they are good fit for you.
[3:49] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Here's skill number one, jot number one, and that is AI implementation.
[3:53] \[SPEAKER_00\]: And before you pass this part of the episode and be thinking, this is for tech people, for tech savvy people.
[4:00] \[SPEAKER_00\]: No, no, no, listen to me.
[4:01] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Just give me two minutes, give me two minutes.
[4:03] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Knowing how to work with AI tools has become a baseline business skill.
[4:10] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Companies are not just hiring specialists.
[4:13] \[SPEAKER_00\]: I'm not.
[4:14] \[SPEAKER_00\]: They want regular employees who can use AI to draft reports, organize schedules, summarize documents, use AI to help their jobs tremendously and automate the repetitive task that use to eat up the entire workday.
[4:30] \[SPEAKER_00\]: The math is simple.
[4:32] \[SPEAKER_00\]: A worker who uses AI to finish 40 hours of output in eight hours becomes the most valuable person in the room.
[4:42] \[SPEAKER_00\]: That productivity gap is what companies are paying for today in 2026, and is why people who learn this are getting promoted over co-workers with 10 and more years of experience.
[4:54] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Yeah, you have the experience, but you're not catching them with the time and you're not saving us money.
[5:00] \[SPEAKER_00\]: You don't need a computer science degree or a computer science background.
[5:05] \[SPEAKER_00\]: You need consistent practice.
[5:09] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Use AI tools every single day until it becomes an instinct.
[5:14] \[SPEAKER_00\]: For eight weeks of focus work, and you'll be functional.
[5:20] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Now, I'm gonna give you some real numbers.
[5:24] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Do I just absolutely want to give you awesome real numbers?
[5:25] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Because I know that's why you all are here, right?
[5:28] \[SPEAKER_00\]: The average AI prompt engineer in this country is making between 110,000 and 140,000 dollars a year.
[5:37] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Now, once you get started, watch this, you can be making right around $72 to $96,000.
[5:43] \[SPEAKER_00\]: And seeing your roles, season, you've been in the game for a while, about $200,000 a year, all without a four-year degree.
[5:53] \[SPEAKER_00\]: We have to get to the point, to where we stop hustling, and work smarter, earn more by being strategic.
[6:04] \[SPEAKER_00\]: If you want to take this AI skills seriously and actually get certified in something, employers will pay you for, I want to put you on to my friends over at career risk.
[6:17] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Here's the thing about AI right now.
[6:20] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Everybody's talking about it.
[6:22] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Very few people actually know how to use it well enough to get paid for it.
[6:28] \[SPEAKER_00\]: And that is the gap.
[6:30] \[SPEAKER_00\]: I am currently looking for people who know AI, who can come in and help my business scale and make more profit.
[6:37] \[SPEAKER_00\]: And careerise has built a program designed to take you from beginner to certified.
[6:43] \[SPEAKER_00\]: with real training, real instructors, and a clear path to a job.
[6:49] \[SPEAKER_00\]: They are not selling you a fantasy.
[6:51] \[SPEAKER_00\]: They are giving you a method.
[6:52] \[SPEAKER_00\]: And in this house, in this community, we marry the vision and we date the method.
[6:58] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Come on with somebody, huh?
[7:00] \[SPEAKER_00\]: If AI is the skill you want to build first, this is where I would send you.
[7:05] \[SPEAKER_00\]: All you have to do is go to anthonyonyo.com for slash Learn AI.
[7:10] \[SPEAKER_00\]: that is anthonyl.com for slash learn a. I get started today, click the link inside inside of the show description.
[7:18] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Family, can I be real with you for a quick second before we get into today's episode?
[7:21] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Let's be honest.
[7:22] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Gash just hit over $5 a gallon.
[7:26] \[SPEAKER_00\]: ground beef is over $6 a pound.
[7:30] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Home prices are up almost 70 to 80 percent of some cities.
[7:36] \[SPEAKER_00\]: In almost 870 people, this year alone have lost their jobs every single day.
[7:44] \[SPEAKER_00\]: If you feel like you're working harder than you ever have and still fall behind, you'll be honest with you, you are not crazy and you are not feeling, but the system I have to be honest is broken.
[7:54] \[SPEAKER_00\]: You are not the person who was broken.
[7:57] \[SPEAKER_00\]: I need you to listen to me real quick.
[7:59] \[SPEAKER_00\]: I honestly do not come from a financially wealthy family.
[8:02] \[SPEAKER_00\]: I come from a hardworking Christian bone of five family.
[8:06] \[SPEAKER_00\]: And I firmly, I firmly do believe everyone watching this works hard too.
[8:11] \[SPEAKER_00\]: But hard work without a proven plan does not get us anywhere anymore.
[8:17] \[SPEAKER_00\]: This is why I have spent the last five years building this plan.
[8:21] \[SPEAKER_00\]: And this is my brand new book, Stop Living paycheck to paycheck.
[8:25] \[SPEAKER_00\]: This is the system I wish I had.
[8:27] \[SPEAKER_00\]: When I was falling behind in life and living paycheck to paycheck, why?
[8:31] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Because it works no matter what is happening in this economy, no matter what is going on in your life because this is not just a money book.
[8:38] \[SPEAKER_00\]: This is a freedom book.
[8:41] \[SPEAKER_00\]: I need you to pre-order today and get over 275 hours and free bonuses but you have to act for August 20th.

[8:53] \[SPEAKER_00\]: But again, that is Anthonyondio.com $4.00, the link is right below in the description.
[9:00] \[SPEAKER_00\]: But I want to help everyone, all of my family members, get free together.
[9:04] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Go to Anthonyondio.com $4.00, let's get back into today's show.
[9:09] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Here's skill number two, and jot number two.
[9:12] \[SPEAKER_00\]: That is a specialized technical trace individual.
[9:15] \[SPEAKER_00\]: And this is where I want to spend just a little extra time because this is the path that most of you all are sleeping on.
[9:23] \[SPEAKER_00\]: All right, forget the old image of trade work.
[9:26] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Today's industrial electricians is they are working smarter with smart systems, sensors, and automation.
[9:35] \[SPEAKER_00\]: This is high-tech work that pays high-tech money.
[9:40] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Come closer, come closer.
[9:42] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Parents, you need to expose your children to this.
[9:45] \[SPEAKER_00\]: The roles I want you to look at, industrial electricians, elevator and escalator technicians, smart building, age, back specialists, robotics, maintenance technicians, huh?
[9:58] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Three reasons, these jobs are bulletproof.
[10:01] \[SPEAKER_00\]: They cannot be done remotely.
[10:03] \[SPEAKER_00\]: They cannot be off-sword.
[10:05] \[SPEAKER_00\]: And AI cannot physically climb into an elevator shaft.
[10:10] \[SPEAKER_00\]: The work happens in physical space, with complex equipment in real time.
[10:17] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Senior elevator installers and industrial electricians regularly clear six figures.
[10:23] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Some clear well passed it from my research and check this out.
[10:28] \[SPEAKER_00\]: None of them have, why I can say none of them, the majority of them do not even have a college degree.
[10:34] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Let me give you some real numbers in this field.
[10:38] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Oh my goodness.
[10:40] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Um, industrial electricians average about 85 to about 95,000 dollars a year, specialized in P.O.C.s or high voltage and you're looking at about 110 to about 160,000 dollars.
[10:54] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Now, L, elevator installers, oh my goodness, 82 to about 95,000 dollars.
[10:59] \[SPEAKER_00\]: And senior guys who are clearing about 150,000 dollars.
[11:04] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Now, HVAC specialists who learn building automation systems are closing six figures.
[11:12] \[SPEAKER_00\]: These are blue college jobs paying white column money without, who, I was about to say something, I ain't gonna say that, without the debt, without the debt, the path in is a paid apprenticeship or a vocational trade school program.
[11:29] \[SPEAKER_00\]: That means you earn while you are learning.
[11:32] \[SPEAKER_00\]: no student debt, trade unions are especially worth looking into because they combine structure training with immediate income and benefits.
[11:46] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Now here on this one, here here on this one, we tell you, we told a whole generation that working with your hands was beneath them.
[11:54] \[SPEAKER_00\]: and that was honestly a lie.
[11:55] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Some of the wealthiest men I know never said any college classroom.
[12:01] \[SPEAKER_00\]: They mastered a trade, they ran their money with discipline, watch this, and they built generational wealth with they skill that they obtain via a trade.
[12:13] \[SPEAKER_00\]: parents hear me clearly please please please hear me clearly please hear me clearly if your child is gifted with their hands do not push them into a four-year university because that's what your generation valued that's not love that's pressure the best thing you and I can do is to help them find the path that fits who they are not who we would stay would be
[12:41] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Well, I don't want to say this, wealth equals freedom and peace, not status, and we force them into college and they get all this debt that is a status without peace because they'll be paying back debt for the rest of their life.
[13:00] \[SPEAKER_00\]: because you wanted them to go to a four year university.
[13:04] \[SPEAKER_00\]: You wanted them to sit in front of me when they should have been sitting in front of someone else to make them sharper with what they already have.
[13:15] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Skill number three.
[13:17] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Skill number three is a thing that I think a lot of, it's one thing I love about region university and a quick plug for them, you know, region universities where I'm at getting my doctorate degree.
[13:28] \[SPEAKER_00\]: And, and while I was there, they were talking to me about how they built a cyber security program because they're seeing the importance of cyber security so can you imagine building and getting a certificate and a degree through cyber security through a Christian perspective.
[13:53] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Listen, that's skill number three.
[13:56] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Cyber security fundamentals.
[13:58] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Every small, listen to me.
[14:00] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Every small and mid-sized business in America is a target for cybersecurity attacks.
[14:06] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Most of them know it.
[14:07] \[SPEAKER_00\]: They need people who can secure networks, manage credentials, train employees to spy, fishing, and respond with something goes wrong.
[14:18] \[SPEAKER_00\]: And here is what most people do not realize, you do not need to be a coder for this to work.
[14:26] \[SPEAKER_00\]: You need to understand systems, you need to understand people.
[14:31] \[SPEAKER_00\]: That's key.
[14:32] \[SPEAKER_00\]: And you need to understand how attackers think, how criminals think, how scammers think.
[14:39] \[SPEAKER_00\]: The talent shortage in this field has been severe for years and is not closed.
[14:46] \[SPEAKER_00\]: You see, entry-level security analysis can command strong salaries, the ceiling for experienced professionals is much higher.
[14:56] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Let me give it a numbers because I really do believe that this is important and if you want to learn more about cybersecurity, I'm going to drop regions link inside of the show notes check them out because I'm telling their cybersecurity program is amazing and it's super affordable to get in.
[15:15] \[SPEAKER_00\]: entry level, entry levels, cybersecurity individuals are averaging about 99,000 to 118,000 a year.
[15:23] \[SPEAKER_00\]: The national average overall is around 127,000 to 135,000 dollars.
[15:29] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Now top performers who's been in the game learned it, they're making about $200,000 a year.
[15:37] \[SPEAKER_00\]: even better.
[15:38] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Many of these jobs are remote or hybrid.
[15:42] \[SPEAKER_00\]: That means you can live in mythists or Atlanta and work with a company in California.
[15:49] \[SPEAKER_00\]: If you ever thought about going back to school, but life, money, or fear got in a way, this is your moment.
[15:56] \[SPEAKER_00\]: I've partnered with Regent University, a top Christian University to give away real scholarship money.
[16:01] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Including, watch this, a shot at $10,000 in the black scholarship, and a $500 scholarship just for signing up.
[16:11] \[SPEAKER_00\]: But listen, this isn't just about a degree.
[16:14] \[SPEAKER_00\]: It's about changing your whole financial future.
[16:18] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Because here's the truth, we search does show that finishing your degree can add over one million dollars to your lifetime earnings.
[16:26] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Instead of one one million dollars to your lifetime earnings.
[16:30] \[SPEAKER_00\]: That's not height.
[16:31] \[SPEAKER_00\]: That is one hundred percent fat and every year you wait is money left when it takes.
[16:35] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Money that could be building generational wealth for children's children and is not just about the paycheck.
[16:42] \[SPEAKER_00\]: People with degrees have more job security, more career options, and more leverage to move up or switch feels when they want.
[16:49] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Not just when they have to, but let's just be honest.
[16:51] \[SPEAKER_00\]: If we continue learning, we continue evolving.
[16:54] \[SPEAKER_00\]: And we continue to take care of our number one business, which is our mind.
[16:58] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Listen, in today's world, employers are looking for people with specialized skills and confidence to lead college grass are less likely to be unemployed and they're more likely to get promoted, negotiate higher salaries, and build powerful networks that open doors for years to come.
[17:15] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Region University gets it, they offer flexible faith-based programs designed for your real life, so you can balance work, family, your business, and your calling.
[17:25] \[SPEAKER_00\]: and it is surrounded by community that cares about your purpose, not just your GPA.
[17:31] \[SPEAKER_00\]: So, don't let another year go by leaving money and purpose on the table.
[17:37] \[SPEAKER_00\]: I want to visit www.reject.edu-anthony right now.
[17:42] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Come join me, I'm in my DBA program, getting my doctorate there.
[17:46] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Again, that is region.edu for slash entity to take your seat at the table with me at Region University.
[17:54] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Let's build something bigger together.
[17:56] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Your future self, I promise you it's going to thank you.
[17:59] \[SPEAKER_00\]: All right, let's get to the show.
[18:01] \[SPEAKER_00\]: You can learn both of these things and get a certificate, get an an associate degree.
[18:05] \[SPEAKER_00\]: You even get a four year degree with this one and be making money.
[18:14] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Could the link inside of the show knows I forgot the link we're going to put Regents University's information down there in a show knows listen Mayor of the vision and date the method the method is here.
[18:26] \[SPEAKER_00\]: I will say the method here is study certified build and apply that's it That's it
[18:34] \[SPEAKER_00\]: skill number four is data literacy and and visualization.
[18:39] \[SPEAKER_00\]: I gotta say that word correctly.
[18:40] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Who I'd be slipping them with us though.
[18:42] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Every business today generates more data than it knows what to do with it.
[18:46] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Hospitals, logistics companies, retailers, manufacturers, even content creators.
[18:51] \[SPEAKER_00\]: They all have messy spreadsheets and raw numbers that need to be turned into something that can help them make better decisions.
[18:59] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Right?
[19:00] \[SPEAKER_00\]: You could put this data in front of people and we can see him say, okay, this is what our company is doing.
[19:05] \[SPEAKER_00\]: This is what our company is not doing.
[19:07] \[SPEAKER_00\]: This person who can translate all this information into clear, understandable, documentation is just invincible.
[19:19] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Like, you cannot touch them.
[19:21] \[SPEAKER_00\]: And this is what I want you to hear.
[19:24] \[SPEAKER_00\]: This skill bridges the gap between frontline workers and strategy.
[19:28] \[SPEAKER_00\]: You see, a warehouse worker who learns to pull reports and build dashboards, right?
[19:35] \[SPEAKER_00\]: Stop being just labor.
[19:37] \[SPEAKER_00\]: They start being someone management consults before making important decisions.
[19:44] \[SPEAKER_00\]: That shift, that shift.
[19:46] \[SPEAKER_00\]: And really learning that leads directly to promotions and raises.
