[0:03] Speaker 1: The Bengals defense is back, but now Joe Burrow has
[0:07] Speaker 1: a back.
[0:08] Speaker 2: How concerned are they in Cincinnati?
[0:11] Speaker 1: We have the surprising injury news, the latest straight ahead.
[0:15] Speaker 2: Are the Bears going to.
[0:17] Speaker 1: Feast on another 50 burger Sunday?
[0:20] Speaker 2: We'll tell you why.
[0:21] Speaker 1: This week may be very different. And who needs to
[0:26] Speaker 1: be in your fantasy lineup as early as tomorrow? Trevor
[0:30] Speaker 1: Sykema has that. All of it is next on the
[0:33] Speaker 1: NFL Report. We are presented to you by Nationwide. Welcome
[0:38] Speaker 1: to a Wednesday week two edition. My name is Andrew Siciliano.
[0:41] Speaker 2: From our studios in Los Angeles. As mentioned, we'll set
[0:44] Speaker 2: your fantasy lineup. Trevor Sykema has that. And Baker Mayfield
[0:48] Speaker 2: was almost a Raven?
[0:50] Speaker 3: What?
[0:51] Speaker 2: We have that story for you as well. Let's do
[0:52] Speaker 2: our latest headlines. What's news to me?
[0:55] Speaker 1: What I like to say, and we're going to start
[0:57] Speaker 1: in Cincinnati where this one kind of sort of came
[0:59] Speaker 1: out of nowhere today.
[1:00] Speaker 2: Joe Burrow is working through some back tightness.
[1:04] Speaker 1: That's what he said. That's how he described it. He
[1:07] Speaker 1: really didn't do anything in practice today. Officially was limited.
[1:10] Speaker 1: He was seen wearing KT tape on his shoulder as
[1:14] Speaker 1: the Bengals got ready for a trip to Houston. How
[1:18] Speaker 1: are you feeling?
[1:19] Speaker 2: I feel good. Some normal game-day soreness, that's for sure,
[1:23] Speaker 2: but I'll.
[1:25] Speaker 4: Be all right.
[1:29] Speaker 2: I don't know specifically what play I didn't really start
[1:37] Speaker 2: feeling until after the game. That's typically how it happens.
[1:40] Speaker 3: Do you plan to practice the rest of the week,
[1:43] Speaker 3: or is it going to be something where you're just.
[1:44] Speaker 2: Going to rest in? We'll see how we feel tomorrow.
[1:47] Speaker 5: Shoulder?
[1:49] Speaker 2: Back tightness.
[1:50] Speaker 3: Is there any part of you that doesn't play on
[1:52] Speaker 3: Sunday afternoon cautionary?
[1:55] Speaker 6: No.
[1:55] Speaker 5: Why?
[1:55] Speaker 2: That's ridiculous.
[1:59] Speaker 1: The question there was, would you hold yourself out as
[2:01] Speaker 1: a precaution? He said, no, that's ridiculous. It isn't ridiculous
[2:04] Speaker 1: that Sam Darnold is officially out this week. We've been
[2:07] Speaker 1: telling you he's not going to play week two. Mike
[2:09] Speaker 1: McDonald made that official earlier today. Drew Locke will get
[2:13] Speaker 1: the start against the Cardinals. Seattle has beaten Arizona nine consecutive.
[2:17] Speaker 1: The last Seahawks quarterback to lose to the Cardinals.
[2:21] Speaker 2: Anybody? Russell Wilson, 2021, lost to Colt McCoy. Really, that happened.
[2:28] Speaker 1: Elsewhere in Minneapolis, Kyler Murray is still in the concussion protocol.
[2:33] Speaker 2: He was officially limited Wednesday in practice.
[2:36] Speaker 1: The Vikings visit the Bears on Sunday, and if Murray
[2:39] Speaker 1: cannot go, it'll be Carson Wentz at quarterback who rallied
[2:42] Speaker 1: the Vikings to victory over the Packers in week one.
[2:47] Speaker 1: Did anyone see the Bears on Sunday? Let's get to them.
[2:50] Speaker 1: Of course you did. They scored 59. They ran for
[2:54] Speaker 1: six touchdowns like it was the 1930s. It was basically
[2:57] Speaker 1: tech mobile. This week, though, Ben Johnson is moving up
[3:01] Speaker 1: in weight class. This week, he gets Brian Flores and
[3:05] Speaker 1: the Vikings.
[3:05] Speaker 5: Is there ever a trap to avoid of just overthinking
[3:09] Speaker 5: and trying to guess?
[3:11] Speaker 7: He thinks you think he thinks you think he thinks
[3:14] Speaker 7: you're going to do?
[3:15] Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
[3:16] Speaker 7: Yes, there is. How do you avoid going down a
[3:20] Speaker 7: path where you're just overdoing it? I'm in that path
[3:23] Speaker 7: right now.
[3:27] Speaker 2: No, I mean, there's a lot of that.
[3:29] Speaker 7: Man, end of the day, our guys, I want them
[3:32] Speaker 7: to go out and play fast. I want to make
[3:34] Speaker 7: sure we're sound. It's not very different than what we
[3:37] Speaker 7: talked about a week ago, making sure we have a
[3:39] Speaker 7: hat for a hat. as often as we can. And
[3:42] Speaker 7: if he gets us on something, that's fine. Then we
[3:44] Speaker 7: got to come together and make sure we get it
[3:46] Speaker 7: corrected and we'll move on from there.
[3:50] Speaker 2: That's awesome. Trevor Sycamore, NFL.com.
[3:52] Speaker 1: It's kind of like the I know that you know
[3:53] Speaker 1: that you know that I know that. How are you
[3:54] Speaker 1: going to actually deal with this? That's Ben Johnson, Brian
[3:57] Speaker 1: Flores this week. Sign me up for it.
[3:59] Speaker 2: So they had 59 in week one. The Bears did.
[4:01] Speaker 1: No one's ever scored 100 total the first two weeks
[4:05] Speaker 1: of the season. Trevor, are the Bears going to hit 100?
[4:10] Speaker 8: You know, Andrew, no, they're not going to hit 100.
[4:14] Speaker 8: And the reason why they're not going to get a
[4:16] Speaker 8: hit 100 is because nobody does this against Flores' defense.
[4:19] Speaker 8: The Bears have not done it since Flores has been
[4:22] Speaker 8: the defensive coordinator of the Minnesota Vikings.
[4:24] Speaker 2: However, I will say.
[4:26] Speaker 8: When Ben Johnson was offensive coordinator at Detroit Lions, he
[4:29] Speaker 8: scored 30 three times against Brian Flores. So I don't
[4:32] Speaker 8: think that we're getting 40, but I think that it
[4:35] Speaker 8: could still be a good day at the office for
[4:37] Speaker 8: the Chicago Bears. It just feels like they have the
[4:40] Speaker 8: answers to everything right now.
[4:42] Speaker 2: I know it's only one week.
[4:43] Speaker 8: It's a small sample size, but especially when you run
[4:46] Speaker 8: the ball like that, you can do a whole lot
[4:48] Speaker 8: of stuff on offense. And I think there's a lot
[4:50] Speaker 8: of safety blankets, hot reads, whatever you want to call it,
[4:54] Speaker 8: answers to the test. for what Caleb Williams could do
[4:58] Speaker 8: when Brian Flores brings all sorts of exotic pressure his way.
[5:01] Speaker 8: So I do think they could score a lot.
[5:03] Speaker 2: 41, though? Nah, I'm not going to take that one. Okay, Trevor,
[5:07] Speaker 2: let me make another bid.
[5:09] Speaker 1: The record is 95, the pre-merger Raiders in 68. Can
[5:13] Speaker 1: the Bears get to 95?
[5:18] Speaker 2: I actually do. Now, can they?
[5:20] Speaker 8: Yeah, I actually do think they could get to 95.
[5:22] Speaker 8: I think they could potentially get to 95. Getting over
[5:26] Speaker 8: 40 on Flores, you're not going to hear me say
[5:28] Speaker 8: that that's likely. But, again, the way that the Bears'
[5:31] Speaker 8: offense is playing right now. They scored 59 close to
[5:33] Speaker 8: the level.
[5:33] Speaker 2: He didn't have a catch. Didn't have a single catch.
[5:36] Speaker 2: They took the foot off the gas, amazingly, too.
[5:38] Speaker 1: All right, so Viking side of it. Kyler Murray is
[5:40] Speaker 1: in the protocol. You're not going to bench the guy
[5:43] Speaker 1: after only a couple of series here. He won the
[5:45] Speaker 1: job in camp.
[5:46] Speaker 2: But riddle me this.
[5:48] Speaker 1: Justin Jefferson, like, matched his touchdown total from all of
[5:51] Speaker 1: last year in this game with Carson Wentz, the quarterback. Like,
[5:54] Speaker 1: maybe they just start Carson Wentz regardless?
[5:58] Speaker 8: I don't think that they're going to, but there is
[6:00] Speaker 8: actually a stronger case than you might think. And the
[6:02] Speaker 8: reason why is because Kyler did not look comfortable even
[6:06] Speaker 8: before he got hurt, right? He threw an interception on
[6:09] Speaker 8: his first play, and that was just an absolutely forced throw.
[6:12] Speaker 8: And even beyond that throw, it just didn't feel like
[6:15] Speaker 8: he was trusting what he was seeing. And we knew
[6:17] Speaker 8: it was going to be a little bit of a
[6:18] Speaker 8: work in progress for him, right?
[6:19] Speaker 2: It's a new offense.
[6:21] Speaker 8: He's under center a little bit more. There's different places
[6:23] Speaker 8: you want to look. There's different combinations that you want
[6:25] Speaker 8: to hit. the confidence just really was not there from Kyler.
[6:29] Speaker 8: It felt like he was seeing all sorts of different
[6:32] Speaker 8: defenses that were out there when really he wasn't just
[6:34] Speaker 8: reading the one that was right in front of him.
[6:36] Speaker 8: So Wentz comes in, and Wentz obviously has played here
[6:39] Speaker 8: a little bit before, but he let it loose in
[6:41] Speaker 8: that second half. And for whatever you want to call it,
[6:44] Speaker 8: whether he was playing with house money or just didn't
[6:46] Speaker 8: have a care in the world, whatever it was, he
[6:49] Speaker 8: went out there and played free and confidently today. I
[6:52] Speaker 8: can't say the same for Kyler Murray. Kyler Murray looked
[6:54] Speaker 8: like he was playing tense and like he felt as
[6:57] Speaker 8: though there was a lot on his shoulders. The better quarterback,
[7:01] Speaker 8: to me, is pretty much always the one that's going
[7:03] Speaker 8: to play free. So I think there's more of a
[7:06] Speaker 8: case for Wentz than you might think, even though I
[7:08] Speaker 8: don't think it's going to happen.
[7:09] Speaker 2: I think when Kyler's healthy, he's going to start.
[7:10] Speaker 1: Yeah, and he may get a free start, Wentz might,
[7:12] Speaker 1: if Kyler can't clear concussion protocol.
[7:14] Speaker 2: Trevor, stay right there. I want to get your thoughts
[7:16] Speaker 2: on Thursday night coming up in a second.
[7:17] Speaker 1: Let's hit a couple of other bits of quarterback news, however,
[7:20] Speaker 1: and let's go, if we could, to.
[7:22] Speaker 2: Atlanta, where Cooper Rush and.
[7:24] Speaker 1: Michael Penick split the first team reps for the Falcons Wednesday.
[7:28] Speaker 1: Tua did not practice, for what it's worth. Let's get
[7:31] Speaker 1: to Kevin Stefanski. The hoodie is different, but the questions
[7:33] Speaker 1: are the same. Stefanski won't say who's playing for the
[7:38] Speaker 1: Falcons week two.
[7:39] Speaker 2: Do you have a QB yet for this week? We
[7:42] Speaker 2: will have a quarterback, yes, for this week. Not yet,
[7:45] Speaker 2: but we'll work through that this week.
[7:48] Speaker 7: What do you need to see between now and tomorrow?
[7:55] Speaker 2: I'd say we're working through it. I'm not ruling anyone out.
[7:59] Speaker 2: Tua's not going to practice today, but he's getting better.
[8:01] Speaker 2: Cooper and Mike will practice today, so we'll work through it.
[8:06] Speaker 1: Also not ruling out Jack Strand, the undrafted rookie free agent. Meantime,
[8:09] Speaker 1: Stefanski's former quarterback, that's Baker Mayfield, is facing his former
[8:12] Speaker 1: team Sunday.
[8:12] Speaker 2: That's the Browns.
[8:14] Speaker 1: It's Baker against the Browns week, everybody. Also, just for background,
[8:18] Speaker 1: as we play this podium here, remember Baker's alma mater, Oklahoma,
[8:23] Speaker 1: lost to Michigan Saturday.
[8:26] Speaker 4: As I mentioned to you guys, there's history between a franchise,
[8:29] Speaker 4: a coaching staff, anybody. There's always, you want to come
[8:33] Speaker 4: out on the winning side of that, no matter what. Obviously,
[8:35] Speaker 4: it It's very different there, staff-wise and everybody. But yeah,
[8:40] Speaker 4: it's been four years there. I'm going into year four here,
[8:42] Speaker 4: so it's started my career there. A lot of ups
[8:45] Speaker 4: and downs. But yeah, for me, this week is doing
[8:48] Speaker 4: the little things right, continuing to try and displace the
[8:52] Speaker 4: ball where it needs to go, and then obviously making
[8:54] Speaker 4: the things and corrections I need to in ball security.
[8:57] Speaker 1: For what it's worth, Baker was subdued today. I thought
[8:59] Speaker 1: he said all the right things. Baker's going to face
[9:01] Speaker 1: Deshaun Watson, the guy that for all intents and purposes
[9:03] Speaker 1: replaced him in 2022. They actually met 10 years ago
[9:07] Speaker 1: in the Orange Bowl. Watson was asked today if he
[9:11] Speaker 1: thinks he's playing for his job this week.
[9:14] Speaker 2: Listen.
[9:15] Speaker 9: I think personally, I think all that is for the media.
[9:18] Speaker 9: I mean, I think the media has this expectation that
[9:20] Speaker 9: I'm supposed to throw 400 yards and Five touchdowns every week.
[9:24] Speaker 9: So until that happens, I guess it's going to be
[9:27] Speaker 9: the same situation. So, again, my job is to make
[9:31] Speaker 9: sure I'm operating well so we can try to get
[9:34] Speaker 9: a win and keep moving forward from there.
[9:37] Speaker 1: For the record, Deshaun Watson has yet to throw for
[9:39] Speaker 1: 300 yards with the Browns in any of his 20 starts.
[9:43] Speaker 1: Zay Flowers didn't practice in Baltimore Wednesday after not playing
[9:46] Speaker 1: the entire second half of the Ravens win over the Colts.
[9:48] Speaker 2: He has a hammy. Jacoby Myers is on IR.
[9:51] Speaker 1: So Lamar Jackson was asked today about Rashad Bateman, who
[9:53] Speaker 1: was targeted only once week one.
[9:57] Speaker 10: Great relationship, man. My guy actually going to get a
[10:00] Speaker 10: lot more targets. I believe you know what guy's going
[10:02] Speaker 10: down just because of our offense so explosive. Different guys
[10:07] Speaker 10: getting the ball, different movements, helping guys get open, stuff
[10:10] Speaker 10: like that, but yeah, our relationship is great.
[10:14] Speaker 2: Okay, good to know.
[10:16] Speaker 1: How about Joey Porter and the Steelers' relationship? Porter limited today.
[10:20] Speaker 1: It's noteworthy, though, that the Steelers didn't say he had
[10:22] Speaker 1: a bad back today. They said it was conditioning because, remember,
[10:25] Speaker 1: Porter didn't play last week. He didn't practice all of
[10:28] Speaker 1: training camp, and it was widely viewed as a hold-in,
[10:32] Speaker 1: meaning I need to do a contract. I'm not practicing
[10:35] Speaker 1: until you give me one. Is he going to play
[10:37] Speaker 1: this week?
[10:37] Speaker 2: Who knows? They are in New England. We have a
[10:41] Speaker 2: new stadium alert, everybody.
[10:43] Speaker 1: First regular season game of the new Highmark Stadium in
[10:46] Speaker 1: Buffalo is coming up tomorrow night. It is the first
[10:49] Speaker 1: new NFL building to make its debut since both Allegiant
[10:54] Speaker 1: and SoFi did in 2020. The game, Bills and the Lions, TNF.
[11:00] Speaker 5: You know, the city of Buffalo is this, it's a
[11:02] Speaker 5: night that they deserve, right? And it's going to be
[11:05] Speaker 5: an outstanding environment and it's where we want to be
[11:09] Speaker 5: and we want to play under the lights and we
[11:11] Speaker 5: want to do all that. So let's embrace it, you know,
[11:13] Speaker 5: and now it's an opportunity for us to show kind
[11:15] Speaker 5: of our conviction and what we believe in and not
[11:17] Speaker 5: feel like we have to put on a show more
[11:20] Speaker 5: concerned with trying to put on a clinic.
[11:21] Speaker 6: Each game has a different way to win and that's
[11:26] Speaker 6: what was being asked of and called for us as
[11:28] Speaker 6: an offense this last game. That doesn't mean that that's
[11:31] Speaker 6: what's going to be asked of us this next game.
[11:33] Speaker 6: We may have to, you know, run it 40 times,
[11:36] Speaker 6: whatever the case may be. And We've got to be
[11:38] Speaker 6: willing to adapt throughout the game, understand what they're trying
[11:41] Speaker 6: to do, and every game has a different way to
[11:44] Speaker 6: win it, and that's all we're trying to do.
[11:47] Speaker 1: Trying to put on a show, trying to put on
[11:48] Speaker 1: a clinic, which is interesting. Jared Goff, Josh Allen, both
[11:53] Speaker 1: light up the scoreboard, 28 points a game. These two franchises,
[11:56] Speaker 1: 36 wins out of the last 50 games, each of
[11:59] Speaker 1: them the two winningest teams in the NFL. The numbers
[12:02] Speaker 1: are kind of ridiculous. Also, Trevor Sycamore, the last time
[12:05] Speaker 1: these two teams met, They combined for 90 points. It
[12:08] Speaker 1: was a 48-42 Bills win in Detroit in December of 2024.
[12:13] Speaker 1: Is this a light up the scoreboard night again?
[12:16] Speaker 2: I think it could be.
[12:17] Speaker 8: I don't think we're quite getting 90, but obviously these
[12:20] Speaker 8: are two great offenses. But specifically, I think that the
[12:23] Speaker 8: side of the ball that I'm the most intrigued with
[12:25] Speaker 8: is Buffalo's defense. Because even though they gave up 31
[12:28] Speaker 8: points and this game was close down the stretch in it,
[12:32] Speaker 8: game where both teams scored 30. I was more impressed
[12:34] Speaker 8: with what Buffalo was able to do on the defensive
[12:36] Speaker 8: side of the ball, so much so that I felt
[12:37] Speaker 8: like it was a great building block for them moving forward.
[12:41] Speaker 8: And so to me, I felt like Deion Walker is
[12:43] Speaker 8: one of the best players on the field for the
[12:46] Speaker 8: Buffalo Bills. And I was just very excited to see
[12:49] Speaker 8: of what this group could be moving forward. I think
[12:50] Speaker 8: they're well ahead of schedule and another week where they
[12:54] Speaker 8: maybe can even just slow down a great offense a
[12:57] Speaker 8: little bit for Josh Allen to really be able to
[12:59] Speaker 8: take over I'm excited to see what this group could do,
[13:01] Speaker 8: but ultimately it is two high-powered offenses, and you've got
[13:04] Speaker 8: to love that on prime time.
[13:05] Speaker 2: Yeah, especially week two here, especially after all the scoring
[13:08] Speaker 2: we saw week one. I'm with you.
[13:10] Speaker 1: It's great to see Josh Allen do this. We've seen
[13:12] Speaker 1: this a thousand times. But at the end of the season,
[13:16] Speaker 1: it's going to come down to can this defense stop
[13:18] Speaker 1: anybody when they need to, right?
[13:19] Speaker 2: And they did. They got C.J.
[13:21] Speaker 1: Stroud off the field after giving up some numbers in
[13:24] Speaker 1: that game. But when they had to close last week,
[13:26] Speaker 1: they closed, Trevor.
[13:28] Speaker 8: Yeah, and that's the way that I look at it is,
[13:31] Speaker 8: was it a perfect game from the Buffalo Bills defense? No,
[13:34] Speaker 8: but I talked all offseason. Switching from an even front
[13:38] Speaker 8: zone heavy defense like they ran under McDermott, going to
[13:41] Speaker 8: an aggressive odd front, heavy blitzing, a lot of man
[13:45] Speaker 8: coverage that Jim Leonard is going to want to run now,
[13:48] Speaker 8: that takes a lot more time than people I think
[13:50] Speaker 8: are willing to admit.
[13:51] Speaker 2: So to see that.
[13:52] Speaker 8: They are already ahead of schedule, especially in that front zone,
[13:55] Speaker 8: With guys looking comfortable, like you said, enough to close
[13:57] Speaker 8: the game, I think that that's a telltale sign that
[14:01] Speaker 8: they could be a really good group moving forward, especially
[14:03] Speaker 8: when we get to the back half of the season
[14:05] Speaker 8: and the postseason where they want to be.
[14:07] Speaker 1: An odd front, a 3-4 front now under Jim Leonard,
[14:09] Speaker 1: their new defensive coordinator. I'm coming right back with some
[14:13] Speaker 1: fantasy stuff.
[14:14] Speaker 2: Don't go anywhere. That's a Wednesday edition.
[14:16] Speaker 1: A week two edition of the NFL report on NFL channel.
[14:21] Speaker 1: Of course, CD lamb is in your lineup this week, right?
[14:25] Speaker 1: Can David Montgomery get in the end zone three more times?
[14:29] Speaker 1: That's coming up next. You're watching the NFL Report. Patrick
[14:35] Speaker 1: Mahomes and the Chiefs back at it today, back at practice.
[14:38] Speaker 1: Short week for them after playing Monday night. That's the
[14:41] Speaker 1: bad news, that it was a short week. The good
[14:43] Speaker 1: news is Mahomes says the knee feels fine just two
[14:48] Speaker 1: days after his first game in nine months.
[14:53] Speaker 2: Yeah, I feel normal.
[14:54] Speaker 3: Actually, I mean, it's like a blessing and curse. You
[14:57] Speaker 3: get sore everywhere else, you know, because you haven't played
[14:59] Speaker 3: football in so long. And so... The leg is the
[15:02] Speaker 3: least of my worries right now. I'm just excited to
[15:06] Speaker 3: be out there and playing. At the end of the day,
[15:08] Speaker 3: you don't know until you get out there and play,
[15:09] Speaker 3: and I was able to go out there and play,
[15:11] Speaker 3: and I feel good today. Now it's about getting in
[15:14] Speaker 3: the ice bath or whatever it takes to be ready
[15:16] Speaker 3: for the Sunday night game.
[15:18] Speaker 2: Chiefs get the Colts on Sunday night. They're in primetime again.
[15:20] Speaker 1: Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars night in primetime, not even
[15:23] Speaker 1: in a national window playing 4 o'clock in Denver.
[15:25] Speaker 2: He was nearly perfect week one. He just put on
[15:28] Speaker 2: a clinic.
[15:29] Speaker 1: Now Liam Cohen has taken his team back to Denver.
[15:33] Speaker 1: They whooped the Broncos last December, ended their 11-game winning streak.
[15:38] Speaker 2: We know how they're going to respond.
[15:39] Speaker 11: I mean, there's no question that... They're well coached, talented
[15:44] Speaker 11: team that we have obviously a lot of film on
[15:47] Speaker 11: from from last year and then obviously playing them later
[15:49] Speaker 11: on helps.
[15:50] Speaker 2: With some of that, going into this atmosphere.
[15:53] Speaker 11: The communication, both verbally and visually, guys being on the screws,
[15:58] Speaker 11: like I told him this morning, that we have to
[16:01] Speaker 11: know this plan so well that you know what the
[16:03] Speaker 11: guy next to you is going to be able to
[16:05] Speaker 11: do without having to say it to him or speak.
[16:07] Speaker 2: Or talk about it.
[16:08] Speaker 11: Like, that's how well we have to be connected this week.
[16:12] Speaker 11: That's how intentional we have to be in our work
[16:14] Speaker 11: and our preparation. So, yeah, I'm fully anticipating a really
[16:19] Speaker 11: good game from these guys.
[16:21] Speaker 1: The Jaguars, by the way, have only like one true
[16:23] Speaker 1: home game in Jacksonville between now and November. This is
[16:27] Speaker 1: a road game for them. But as mentioned, it's not
[16:30] Speaker 1: in a national window. Like the national 4 o'clock game
[16:35] Speaker 1: that everyone's going to see this week, the Commanders and
[16:38] Speaker 1: the Cowboys.
[16:40] Speaker 2: Okay, cool.
[16:42] Speaker 1: Disrespect for the Jaguars if you want to play that card.
[16:44] Speaker 1: We're going to play the fantasy card here. Bring back
[16:46] Speaker 1: Trevor Sikama, huh? From NFL.com and our fantasy show here
[16:49] Speaker 1: as well, that Cowboys-Commanders game has one of your favorite
[16:53] Speaker 1: fantasy plays this week.
[16:54] Speaker 2: Trevor, what is it?
[16:56] Speaker 8: It seems like an obvious, but in case anybody was
[16:59] Speaker 8: thinking about not starting CeeDee Lamb, you better start CeeDee
[17:03] Speaker 8: Lamb this week. And the reason why, there's just been
[17:06] Speaker 8: so much inconsistent play from the Commanders' cornerback room over
[17:11] Speaker 8: the last couple of years. Specifically, they've been trying to
[17:14] Speaker 8: cover receivers out of the slot with their safeties. Not
[17:18] Speaker 8: a good idea against CeeDee Lamb. When CeeDee Lamb is
[17:21] Speaker 8: in the slot, if you've got a safety against him,
[17:24] Speaker 8: basically for every safety in the NFL, things are not
[17:27] Speaker 8: going to go your way. So I just wonder, do
[17:29] Speaker 8: the commanders have the answers here this year in 2026
[17:32] Speaker 8: for CeeDee Lamb when he is lining up in space
[17:35] Speaker 8: like that? I like him a lot. You should feel
[17:37] Speaker 8: very confident about him leading your wide receivers this week.
[17:40] Speaker 8: And I think there's a chance where he could lead
[17:42] Speaker 8: all wide receivers this week. depending on whether or not
[17:44] Speaker 8: the commanders are going to switch things up and have
[17:46] Speaker 8: somebody different cover them.
[17:48] Speaker 2: Interesting. Let's go back to Mahomes and the Chiefs here.
[17:50] Speaker 2: Everything was dink and dunk, like nothing downfield.
[17:54] Speaker 1: They're in primetime again, and you like Rasheed Rice this week.
[17:59] Speaker 2: I do.
[17:59] Speaker 8: So Rice is coming off of a performance where he
[18:01] Speaker 8: had two targets, two catches, 19 yards, and 13 of
[18:04] Speaker 8: those yards came after the.
[18:05] Speaker 2: Catch for his touchdown.
[18:07] Speaker 8: So, you know, you take that play away. It's a
[18:09] Speaker 8: nothing night for Rasheed Rice, but I actually like him
[18:12] Speaker 8: enough to be a top 10, maybe even a top
[18:14] Speaker 8: five wide receiver this week in fantasy. And the reason
[18:17] Speaker 8: why is because they're playing the Indianapolis Colts. And since
[18:20] Speaker 8: the Colts traded for Sauce Gardner, they have run man
[18:23] Speaker 8: coverage the fifth most of any team in the NFL.
[18:27] Speaker 8: Patrick Mahomes, Andy Reid, these guys understand when you play
[18:30] Speaker 8: man against them, if it's not Sauce Gardner who is
[18:32] Speaker 8: guarding Rasheed Rice, the rest of the Colts secondary has
[18:36] Speaker 8: not been great at those assignments. So can they get
[18:40] Speaker 8: these certain players, specifically Rice, who is really good as
[18:43] Speaker 8: a man coverage type of beater. That is a player
[18:47] Speaker 8: who I am watching for them to focus on here
[18:50] Speaker 8: because I think that the game plan is going to
[18:52] Speaker 8: call for getting the ball in that guy's hands quite
[18:54] Speaker 8: a bit this game, and I think that it could
[18:56] Speaker 8: yield a ton of yards after catch if the Indianapolis
[18:59] Speaker 8: Colts are not on their P's and Q's about it.
[19:01] Speaker 1: All right, finally here we have Mike Evans against the Dolphins.
[19:05] Speaker 2: The Niners look like the best team in football. They
[19:08] Speaker 2: are well-rested.
[19:09] Speaker 1: The Dolphins look like something other than the best team
[19:11] Speaker 1: in football. And this game is in Santa Clara.
[19:14] Speaker 2: So am I playing all the 49ers basically?
[19:18] Speaker 8: I mean, after week one, you got to feel good
[19:19] Speaker 8: about any 49ers in your lineup, right? Until they tell
[19:23] Speaker 8: you otherwise. I just picked up the 49ers defense myself
[19:25] Speaker 8: in a couple of leagues. But look, when you look
[19:27] Speaker 8: at Mike Evans and how he performed in week one,
[19:31] Speaker 8: he ran the most routes of any wide receiver on
[19:33] Speaker 8: the team. They went to him on crucial third down situations,
[19:36] Speaker 8: and specifically, he was also great against man coverage. Now,
[19:41] Speaker 8: I don't know how much they're going to have the
[19:42] Speaker 8: opportunity to really line Mike Evans up versus man, because
[19:46] Speaker 8: it's not exactly what Jeff Halfley likes to do. He's
[19:48] Speaker 8: much more of a zone heavy type of defensive mind
[19:51] Speaker 8: defensive coordinator when he was with the Packers obviously now
[19:53] Speaker 8: as the head coach with the Dolphins and so it's
[19:55] Speaker 8: going to be a little bit more of attacking zones
[19:57] Speaker 8: but I still like the fact that Evans led the
[20:00] Speaker 8: team in routes run so Clearly, all sorts of injuries
[20:04] Speaker 8: to that wide receiver room. Kyle Shanahan and Brock Purdy
[20:07] Speaker 8: have no problem emphasizing this guy, especially when they need
[20:11] Speaker 8: him most on third down and in the red zone.
[20:13] Speaker 8: So be pretty confident starting Mike Evans moving forward with
[20:17] Speaker 8: how that team looked in week one.
[20:18] Speaker 1: Yep, and no Deshaun Stribling. Keep that in mind as well.
[20:21] Speaker 1: By the way, there's a QR code on the screen there.
[20:23] Speaker 1: You listen to the NFL Fantasy Football Podcast with Trevor
[20:26] Speaker 1: Sickerman and a cast of thousands wherever you get your podcasts.
[20:30] Speaker 2: Or just get right up there on the screen and
[20:34] Speaker 2: scan the QR code. My grandmother would say don't get
[20:37] Speaker 2: too close to the screen. But go ahead. Do it now.
[20:41] Speaker 2: Thank you, Trevor Sycamore.
[20:41] Speaker 1: Coming up, did you play Jamar Chase this week?
[20:46] Speaker 2: Of course you did. I mean, I drafted him in
[20:48] Speaker 2: the first round. You know what he did? Pupkis. What
[20:51] Speaker 2: his O.C. said about getting Jamar Chase the ball. Coming
[20:55] Speaker 2: up next on the NFL reports. Hey, everybody.

[21:24] Speaker 1: Terms and conditions do apply. Let's get some quick hits
[21:29] Speaker 1: in here. Did you put Jamar Chase in your lineup
[21:32] Speaker 1: last week? If you had him on your team, of
[21:34] Speaker 1: course you did. He didn't do anything.
[21:37] Speaker 2: Like he caught two passes. That's it. His offensive coordinator,
[21:41] Speaker 2: Dan Pitcher, said they need to throw him the ball more.
[21:45] Speaker 2: Breaking news. Yes, they do. But to have the OC
[21:49] Speaker 2: come out and say it and say he was ticked off,
[21:51] Speaker 2: they need to do it more. Maybe that means something.
[21:54] Speaker 2: Maybe it doesn't. We'll see.
[21:56] Speaker 1: Bengals and the Texans coming up Sunday in Houston. Can
[22:00] Speaker 1: I interest you in some awards? Your NFC and AFC
[22:03] Speaker 1: players of the week will do the NFC first. DeAndre
[22:05] Speaker 1: Swift scored three touchdowns. He gets the honor from the Bears.
[22:09] Speaker 1: It's Zach Bond from the Eagles, the linebacker as your
[22:12] Speaker 1: defensive player of the week. And Simi Fayoko from the Cardinals,
[22:15] Speaker 1: special teams player.
[22:17] Speaker 2: Of the week in the NFC. In the AFC.
[22:20] Speaker 1: It's Kenneth Walker III, T.J. Watt, and Evan McPherson from
[22:26] Speaker 1: the Chiefs, the Steelers, and the Bengals, respectively. They are
[22:28] Speaker 1: your weekly award winners. Not a good sign here in
[22:31] Speaker 1: Los Angeles on Ladd McConkie. It's a rib injury. Couldn't
[22:34] Speaker 1: play the fourth quarter. Jim Harbaugh says Ladd McConkie will
[22:38] Speaker 1: not practice today. The Chargers get the Raiders. Whose home
[22:44] Speaker 1: game is it this Sunday at SoFi? Mention Deshaun Stribling.
[22:48] Speaker 1: It's going to be a while. He had surgery on Wednesday.
[22:50] Speaker 1: He's going on IR. Kyle Shanahan, bless him for giving
[22:53] Speaker 1: honest injury news, said it's going to be 10 weeks
[22:57] Speaker 1: out for the rookie wide receiver and the number one
[23:00] Speaker 1: pick in the second round this past April. It is
[23:04] Speaker 1: short-term IR, according to Kevin O'Connell. For Jordan Mason, the
[23:08] Speaker 1: running back goes on IR after surgery. It's a broken
[23:11] Speaker 1: bone in his hand. DJ Dallas. He's the DJ and
[23:16] Speaker 1: the running back is the next man up. Trevion Henderson,
[23:19] Speaker 1: a full participant in practice today in Foxborough. Patriots and
[23:22] Speaker 1: the Steelers on Sunday. Henderson did not play week one.
[23:26] Speaker 1: And the Patriots are well rested now after losing in Seattle.
[23:31] Speaker 1: This is what the new RFK is going to look like.
[23:33] Speaker 1: Don't know what it's going to be called, but it's
[23:34] Speaker 1: on the same site. The Commanders had the big unveiling
[23:38] Speaker 1: today of the stadium that should open in 2030. It's
[23:41] Speaker 1: going to have a translucent roof like the new Huntington
[23:44] Speaker 1: Bank Field will. That is scheduled to open in 2029
[23:48] Speaker 1: in Cleveland. And speaking of Cleveland, time for one more
[23:50] Speaker 1: thing before we go. Todd Munkin had this doozy today. Remember,
[23:54] Speaker 1: he was the Browns OC in 2019 with Baker Mayfield.
[23:58] Speaker 2: Said that when Mayfield went to Tampa, that... Mayfield.
[24:03] Speaker 1: Almost went to Baltimore instead. He was going to back
[24:07] Speaker 1: up Lamar Jackson. We thought he was coming there to
[24:12] Speaker 1: be our backup, is what Munkin said today.
[24:14] Speaker 2: Instead, he went to Tampa.
[24:16] Speaker 3: It all worked out.
[24:18] Speaker 2: The Baker Bowl. NFL Report. I'm Andrew Cisnoliano. See you tomorrow.
