[0:07] Speaker 1: The NFL season is one hundred and nine days away,
[0:11] Speaker 1: but our eyes are already on September. Cameron Wolf will
[0:14] Speaker 1: be here tonight to discuss the teams that have positioned
[0:17] Speaker 1: themselves to become true contenders in twenty twenty six. We'll
[0:21] Speaker 1: also welcome in Jeffrey Chediah, who has some way too
[0:25] Speaker 1: early predictions about the season, including a bold call on
[0:29] Speaker 1: a big year for the winner of the Vikings Quarterback Battle.
[0:32] Speaker 1: There is no QB battle in Kansas City, but there
[0:35] Speaker 1: is a team motivated to get back on top. Pro
[0:38] Speaker 1: Bowl Guard Tray Smith joins us tonight to talk about
[0:41] Speaker 1: the return of Patrick Mahomes, a long off season, and
[0:44] Speaker 1: a whole lot more. Welcome inside with the Insiders alongside
[0:49] Speaker 1: Ian Rappaport and Mike Garrafolo.
[0:51] Speaker 2: I am Tom Pellisero.
[0:53] Speaker 1: Thank you to all of you who are watching us
[0:56] Speaker 1: from bars and boats as you get a jumpstart on
[0:59] Speaker 1: the holiday weekend. We love you, we appreciate you, and
[1:03] Speaker 1: we're gonna give you all we got for the next
[1:04] Speaker 1: sixty minutes until we join you. We start out tonight
[1:07] Speaker 1: in Philadelphia, where Jalen Hurts has a new offense and
[1:11] Speaker 1: a new coordinator in thirty four year old Sean Manion,
[1:14] Speaker 1: soal Rai's questions about how well the former Super Bowl
[1:17] Speaker 1: MVP will fit into the system a concern Manion did
[1:21] Speaker 1: not sound all that concerned about with reporters this week.
[1:25] Speaker 3: Jalen's been awesome. You know, I really think he can
[1:29] Speaker 3: do anything we ask of him. He's accurate, he's a
[1:31] Speaker 3: great athlete. He really attacks the fundamentals. That's what's been
[1:35] Speaker 3: really fun to watch these last two weeks of Phase two.
[1:38] Speaker 3: He's always coming wanting more things to work on, wanting
[1:41] Speaker 3: more things regarding fundamentals, timing, understanding the scheme.
[1:46] Speaker 4: He's hungry for more and that.
[1:47] Speaker 3: Those are the guys that are really fun to work
[1:49] Speaker 3: with in terms of skill set though. He has great
[1:51] Speaker 3: arm strength, great accuracy, obviously a tremendous athlete, and he
[1:54] Speaker 3: really attacks the game. He has a great process in
[1:57] Speaker 3: the meetings. He always asks really really thought o questions.
[2:01] Speaker 3: He's detailed and at taxes fundamentals. You know, he's always
[2:04] Speaker 3: a guy who stays after practice and is working on things.
[2:07] Speaker 4: That those are the guys you love to work with.
[2:10] Speaker 1: The tools are not in dispute here, Mike, but it's
[2:13] Speaker 1: also not in dispute that this is a vast shift
[2:16] Speaker 1: for Jalen Hurts and won a Super Bowl plan a
[2:18] Speaker 1: completely different style of offense to one that we've seen
[2:20] Speaker 1: when Sean Mannion was a player as a backup quarterback
[2:23] Speaker 1: in places like with the Rams and with the Vikings.
[2:25] Speaker 1: How do you knowing that organization as well as you
[2:28] Speaker 1: do envision him fitting into what.
[2:31] Speaker 2: They're trying to do.
[2:31] Speaker 5: Now. This is the opposite of what we saw from
[2:34] Speaker 5: the Eagles last year. Up until the final call against
[2:37] Speaker 5: the forty nine Ers. It was give Jalen Hurts things
[2:40] Speaker 5: that he's comfortable with, that we believe that he can do.
[2:42] Speaker 2: That he's shown that he can do. This is now,
[2:45] Speaker 2: and this is coming from up top. This is coming.
[2:47] Speaker 5: From all the way to ownership, because Jeffrey Loriie is
[2:49] Speaker 5: a fan of the Shanahan style of offense. And now
[2:52] Speaker 5: they're dipping into that tree here and saying, well, if
[2:56] Speaker 5: it doesn't work for you, Jalen Hurts, then maybe we'll
[2:58] Speaker 5: make a decision down the line about who our quarterback
[3:02] Speaker 5: is going to be.
[3:02] Speaker 2: But in the meantime, we believe that you can do this.
[3:04] Speaker 5: And you heard it from man in there saying that
[3:06] Speaker 5: he can do everything that they throw at at him,
[3:08] Speaker 5: and they believe in his skill set. So this is
[3:11] Speaker 5: gonna be very different from what we've seen the Eagles
[3:15] Speaker 5: throw it Hurts, and that could be a good thing, right,
[3:17] Speaker 5: I mean early in the season, there's gonna be a
[3:19] Speaker 5: lot of unscouted stuff that other teams will have not seen.
[3:22] Speaker 5: I mean, we're going to be, you know, tabulating every
[3:25] Speaker 5: throw during training camp and during the preseason, although given
[3:29] Speaker 5: Nick Sirianni's propensed to not play the starters, maybe we
[3:32] Speaker 5: won't even see him.
[3:32] Speaker 2: In the preseason.
[3:33] Speaker 5: So early in the season this is gonna be a
[3:35] Speaker 5: lot different, not just for Hurts before.
[3:36] Speaker 2: The defenses that he's facing.
[3:38] Speaker 5: It's gonna be a fascinating storyline to follow throughout the season.
[3:41] Speaker 5: But this is in the minds of the Eagles a
[3:43] Speaker 5: shift for them organizationally, ian philosophically toward an offense that
[3:48] Speaker 5: the owner likes, that the front office likes, and that
[3:50] Speaker 5: they want to see now.
[3:51] Speaker 4: In the field.
[3:53] Speaker 6: Yeah, and that makes a lot of sense, because you know,
[3:55] Speaker 6: whether or not the quarterback likes the offense obviously is important,
[3:58] Speaker 6: but really what you want to do is create assist
[4:00] Speaker 6: him that benefits everyone and you know, you mentioned the
[4:04] Speaker 6: potential quarterback decisions that the Philadelphia Eagles face.
[4:06] Speaker 4: Down the road.
[4:07] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[4:07] Speaker 7: I think it's fair to say it's a really big
[4:09] Speaker 7: year for Jalen Hurts.
[4:10] Speaker 6: After this year, he is out of guaranteed money, that
[4:12] Speaker 6: huge contract that he's signed several years ago becomes i
[4:16] Speaker 6: would say, a little more year by year, and the
[4:18] Speaker 6: Philadelphia Eagles, considering the overall talent on the roster, considering
[4:22] Speaker 6: the unbelievable expectations of the fan base, if they do
[4:26] Speaker 6: not believe at the end of this year that Jalen
[4:28] Speaker 6: Hurts is the only person that can get them to
[4:30] Speaker 6: the Super Bowl and to win it, then they will
[4:33] Speaker 6: have some decisions make. So really, what it seems they've
[4:35] Speaker 6: done is say we're going to go find the best
[4:37] Speaker 6: offense we can best offense no matter what, and say
[4:41] Speaker 6: does our quarterback fit into this offense or not he
[4:43] Speaker 6: is certainly after the kind of year and the criticism
[4:47] Speaker 6: and everything that Jalen Hurts got last year, certainly seems
[4:50] Speaker 6: like this should be something where he would dive into
[4:52] Speaker 6: invest into try to be the best player he could.
[4:55] Speaker 6: And if you get to the end of the year,
[4:57] Speaker 6: Tom and everything is great and they're winning, and he
[5:00] Speaker 6: gets brought back into the year's probably get another extension anyway, huge,
[5:04] Speaker 6: huge year coming for Jalen Hurts and this offense.
[5:09] Speaker 1: Jalen Hurts currently signed through twenty twenty eighties do fifty
[5:12] Speaker 1: one point five million dollars this season, the same number
[5:14] Speaker 1: next season.
[5:15] Speaker 2: Only twenty two.
[5:16] Speaker 1: Million dollars fully guaranteed as of now in twenty twenty seven.
[5:19] Speaker 2: As we saw this past offseason.
[5:21] Speaker 1: Guaranteed money does not necessarily prevent teams from moving on
[5:24] Speaker 1: at the quarterback position. But this is still a guy
[5:26] Speaker 1: who's the Super Bowl MVP sixteen months ago. A fascinating
[5:30] Speaker 1: few months ahead in Philadelphia. That also includes for the
[5:33] Speaker 1: future of AJ Brown, the wide receiver who has been
[5:36] Speaker 1: the subject of substantial trade talks and speculation throughout the
[5:40] Speaker 1: course of the entire offseason, in part, frankly because of
[5:43] Speaker 1: exchanges like this on the sideline with Jalen Hurts, among others.
[5:47] Speaker 1: We know this as of June first, which is just
[5:50] Speaker 1: ten days away. Ian the cap complications of trade and
[5:56] Speaker 1: AJ Brown dip substantially. Here Where do we stand right
[5:59] Speaker 1: now of potentially AJ Brown having a new home in
[6:02] Speaker 1: twenty twenty.
[6:03] Speaker 6: Six Now it certainly seems like right now we're still
[6:06] Speaker 6: in a little bit of a waiting period between the
[6:08] Speaker 6: Philadelphie Eagles and the New England Patriots, And of course
[6:11] Speaker 6: should be reiterated that the Patriots seem as of now
[6:14] Speaker 6: like the most likely destination for aj Brown to have
[6:18] Speaker 6: Mike Vrabel. They have a team that has certainly had
[6:20] Speaker 6: plenty of talks with the Philadelphia Eagles over aj Brown,
[6:24] Speaker 6: and the other team that was probably most interested that
[6:26] Speaker 6: Brown wanted to go to, the Los Angeles Rams, are
[6:29] Speaker 6: really no longer in the mix.
[6:31] Speaker 7: It just remains to be.
[6:32] Speaker 6: Seen when they can get to a point where they're
[6:36] Speaker 6: at a good place with the compensation right. Obviously, the
[6:38] Speaker 6: Philadelphi Egos are going to want a first round pick
[6:40] Speaker 6: from twenty twenty seven, which realistically was what they've wanted
[6:44] Speaker 6: all along. The Patriots would like to pay less. And
[6:47] Speaker 6: so you say, well, okay, well, the Egles obviously.
[6:49] Speaker 4: Have to get rid of them.
[6:50] Speaker 6: Maybe they do, Maybe they do plan to get rid
[6:53] Speaker 6: of them, but doesn't have to be right now. The
[6:55] Speaker 6: Patriots would like to have them, but that doesn't have
[6:58] Speaker 6: to be right now. Once you get past June first,
[7:01] Speaker 6: the window is basically open.
[7:02] Speaker 7: For whenever these two sides can get to a deal.
[7:05] Speaker 6: I don't get the censors any sort of like secret
[7:07] Speaker 6: deal where they hit the button and say, okay go.
[7:10] Speaker 7: They're gonna have to negotiate.
[7:11] Speaker 6: They're gonna have to figure out a middle ground to
[7:13] Speaker 6: get AJ Brown from the Eagles to the New England Patriots.
[7:17] Speaker 6: Until then, as Howie Rosemand likes to say, he's still
[7:20] Speaker 6: a member.
[7:20] Speaker 5: Of the Eagles, Yeah, I mean maybe there is, but
[7:24] Speaker 5: you just said it.
[7:25] Speaker 2: I'm going to say it as well.
[7:26] Speaker 5: I don't think there's an envelope stash somewhere that says
[7:28] Speaker 5: do not open till June first, with the terms of
[7:31] Speaker 5: the trade written down and agreed to by both sides.
[7:34] Speaker 5: Here by both sides, I mean the Patriots, because that's
[7:36] Speaker 5: the most likely destination for AJ Brown. This one's gotta
[7:40] Speaker 5: be renegotiated. This one's got to be opened up again,
[7:43] Speaker 5: not just in New England but to the entire NFL.
[7:47] Speaker 5: And you're right about the Patriots reluctance to go where
[7:50] Speaker 5: the Rams at one point seemingly we're willing to go.
[7:53] Speaker 2: I mean that one was closer to getting done.
[7:55] Speaker 5: Than the deal with New England and the appeal for
[7:58] Speaker 5: Howie Roseman to New England was to get him out
[8:00] Speaker 5: of the conference. You send them to the Rams, You're
[8:03] Speaker 5: gonna see him in the NFC. You're gonna see him
[8:04] Speaker 5: during the regular season. I think it's Week four they
[8:06] Speaker 5: play the Rams, and then potentially again in the postseason.
[8:09] Speaker 5: You'd prefer to have to only wait to see him
[8:11] Speaker 5: in the Super Bowl if he went to New England.
[8:13] Speaker 5: So that's going to be a part of it and
[8:15] Speaker 5: a part of this process as well. And you're right
[8:18] Speaker 5: Ian about it being a window. It's not like come
[8:20] Speaker 5: June first or June second, we expect this thing to
[8:22] Speaker 5: get done. I think that window leads up to the
[8:25] Speaker 5: start of training camp because that's potentially a pressure point
[8:28] Speaker 5: where if it's the Patriots or whoever, they're gonna say, hey,
[8:31] Speaker 5: we want them in the fold now before we enter
[8:33] Speaker 5: training camp, and the Eagles are going to say we
[8:34] Speaker 5: want to turn the page before we get to training camp.
[8:37] Speaker 5: One other thing regarding the Eagles we saw we heard
[8:39] Speaker 5: from Sean mannon a defensive coordinator. Vic Fangio also smoke
[8:44] Speaker 5: to the media the other day and said that he
[8:47] Speaker 5: was not close to retirement and that he sort of
[8:50] Speaker 5: goes through that process every single year the last couple
[8:53] Speaker 5: of years. Half of that statement is unequivocally true. And
[8:56] Speaker 5: that's the back half of the stage, the front part
[8:59] Speaker 5: of it. I can't Ian's face right now. I would
[9:01] Speaker 5: love to, because we do believe that at one point
[9:04] Speaker 5: he was close to retiring, but he says, not only
[9:07] Speaker 5: am I good for this year, I'm good for two years,
[9:10] Speaker 5: because Nick sometimes will turn this into new.
[9:12] Speaker 2: Deals, right like, and that's what happened again on this one.
[9:16] Speaker 1: Let's save that quote in that topic bar for February,
[9:18] Speaker 1: when we're once again talking about the future of Vic Fangil,
[9:21] Speaker 1: we are not talking about the future of Matthew Stafford.
[9:24] Speaker 1: The Rams announced on Thursday they've agreed to terms with
[9:27] Speaker 1: Matthew Stafford on a one year, fifty five million dollar
[9:30] Speaker 1: contract extension. Stafford now signed for two more seasons through
[9:34] Speaker 1: twenty twenty seven. But this is really a continuation of
[9:37] Speaker 1: the year to year approach that's been taken by the Rams,
[9:39] Speaker 1: who gave Stafford a raise the past two off seasons. Well,
[9:42] Speaker 1: we don't have the full details on the contract. Yeah,
[9:44] Speaker 1: my understanding is this extension adds some incentives for Stafford
[9:48] Speaker 1: in twenty twenty six, which was the last year on
[9:50] Speaker 1: his prior deal. I Meanwhile, the Rams avoid a season
[9:53] Speaker 1: of speculation about the raining NFL MVP's future and a
[9:56] Speaker 1: ticking time bomb scenario of his contract voiding next February,
[10:00] Speaker 1: accelerating a loaded dead money onto their caps. So now
[10:04] Speaker 1: Stafford can earn some extra money this season, besides have
[10:07] Speaker 1: more time to navigate the plan for twenty twenty seven,
[10:10] Speaker 1: all of which only strengthens the notion ian that it
[10:13] Speaker 1: is going to be a while until we see first
[10:15] Speaker 1: round pick Ty Simpson in this opportunity in LA.
[10:19] Speaker 7: Yeah, and that.
[10:19] Speaker 6: Really is now the most interesting to me conversations surrounding
[10:22] Speaker 6: the Los Angeles Rams. It's like, why did they take
[10:25] Speaker 6: ty Simpson number thirteen, which some people in the league,
[10:29] Speaker 6: not everyone, but some people thought was a little earlier.
[10:31] Speaker 7: Then we all imagine, why would they take him?
[10:34] Speaker 6: If Matthew Stafford is going to play two more years
[10:37] Speaker 6: or maybe beyond, they could have just gotten any weapon.
[10:40] Speaker 6: Here would be the argument for the Rams to take
[10:43] Speaker 6: Ty Simpson and why? Based on the conversations I've had
[10:46] Speaker 6: there as of right now, firmly.
[10:48] Speaker 7: Of the belief that this was the right move.
[10:50] Speaker 6: First of all, when they traded the first round pick
[10:52] Speaker 6: for Trent mcduffey ero in the offseason, that basically gave
[10:55] Speaker 6: up some of the AMMO that they had to go
[10:58] Speaker 6: get a other quarterback somewhere else, right, so the only
[11:00] Speaker 6: first round draft pick they had was number thirteen. The
[11:03] Speaker 6: Rams are good, and they're going to be good year
[11:06] Speaker 6: after year, especially if Matthew Stafford continues to play like
[11:09] Speaker 6: the MVP he is. The only chance they're going to
[11:12] Speaker 6: have to get a quarterback early in the draft is
[11:14] Speaker 6: basically this year. So here's the argument. Take him right
[11:17] Speaker 6: now and then don't worry about anything else. Stafford plays.
[11:20] Speaker 6: As long as he plays, We've seen this work in
[11:22] Speaker 6: Green Bay in other places. Let's say Stafford plays three
[11:25] Speaker 6: more years. Okay, fine, then you still have a franchise
[11:28] Speaker 6: quarterback who's learned from some of the best, from one
[11:29] Speaker 6: of the best coaches, one of the best quarterbacks for
[11:31] Speaker 6: the receivable future, because you wouldn't have an opportunity to
[11:34] Speaker 6: get this kind of talent elsewhere. Ty Simpson will sit
[11:38] Speaker 6: and that is okay because long term, mic the argument
[11:42] Speaker 6: is this was the best for the Rams.
[11:44] Speaker 5: The early read of the ty Simpson timeline is that
[11:48] Speaker 5: nobody really can give you that read right now, not
[11:50] Speaker 5: including Sean McVay or Matthew Stafford or less sneed because
[11:54] Speaker 5: how does this season play out for Matthew Stafford? I mean,
[11:57] Speaker 5: if the Rams go to Super Bowl, he wins this
[11:59] Speaker 5: Super Bowl super Bowl MVP, and he goes, you know what,
[12:02] Speaker 5: that was great? All Right, I'm out of here, see
[12:04] Speaker 5: you later. Or it's another season sort of like this
[12:07] Speaker 5: last one where it's like, ah, man, we were so close.
[12:10] Speaker 5: If I run it back, we could do it again.
[12:12] Speaker 5: How does he feel after this year? It's the guy
[12:14] Speaker 5: that's dealt with arm and back stuff with the Rams
[12:17] Speaker 5: for the last couple of years here, that's going to
[12:20] Speaker 5: be a factor in this one as well. He knows
[12:22] Speaker 5: he's still got high level football left. The Rams. No,
[12:26] Speaker 5: he's still got high football left. That's a big part
[12:27] Speaker 5: of this deal and a part of their excitement for
[12:29] Speaker 5: why or for when he decided to come back. So
[12:32] Speaker 5: this is TBD on Simpson and the Rams are sort
[12:36] Speaker 5: of okay with that and now understood that that was going
[12:38] Speaker 5: to be the case when they made the decision to
[12:39] Speaker 5: take him this year.
[12:41] Speaker 1: Reminder, Ty Simpson basically sat his first three years at
[12:45] Speaker 1: Alabama one year starter last season and now potentially sitting
[12:49] Speaker 1: for quite a while before his opportunity comes in the NFL.
[12:53] Speaker 1: Other news within the NFL today, and this is bad
[12:55] Speaker 1: news for the New York Giants. Roy Robertson Harris, the
[12:58] Speaker 1: veteran defensive i'man suffering a torn achilles. He is going
[13:03] Speaker 1: to be out for the twenty twenty six season. Robertson
[13:06] Speaker 1: Harris has played a lot of quality football over the years,
[13:09] Speaker 1: including in Jacksonville. Giants had a DJ Reiders Shelby Harris
[13:13] Speaker 1: among others in the offseason. Also trade away that guy
[13:16] Speaker 1: to Cincinnati. Now another hole to fill up front on
[13:20] Speaker 1: that defense. I was not the only Giants news. Just
[13:23] Speaker 1: minutes ago, Jackson Dart talking to a one time perspective
[13:28] Speaker 1: NFL owner. That's President Donald J.
[13:29] Speaker 2: Trump.
[13:30] Speaker 1: Jackson Dart introducing Trump before a New York rally tonight.
[13:35] Speaker 1: Lots to come tonight on the Insiders, including a look
[13:39] Speaker 1: at some teams the camon Wolf believes has set themselves
[13:42] Speaker 1: up to become true contenders.
[13:44] Speaker 2: In twenty twenty six. You won't want to miss that,
[13:47] Speaker 2: and you won't want to miss this.
[13:48] Speaker 1: Trey Smith, two time Pro Bowl guard by the Kansas
[13:51] Speaker 1: City Chiefs, one of the most fascinating men in the NFL.
[13:54] Speaker 1: What does he say is going on in the building
[13:56] Speaker 1: right now? In case he we'll ask him Tray Smith,
[13:59] Speaker 1: what's next? On the Insiders, they look at the chief
[14:09] Speaker 1: schedule as they try to get back to doing what
[14:12] Speaker 1: the Chiefs do, deep playoff runs, AFC championships and Super Bowls.
[14:17] Speaker 1: It all starts out on Monday Night Football Week one
[14:21] Speaker 1: against the Broncos. One of the stars of that team,
[14:23] Speaker 1: Trey Smith, two time Pro Bowl guard, two time Super
[14:26] Speaker 1: Bowl champ, joining us right now here on the Insiders
[14:30] Speaker 1: trade this is the longest offseason of your NFL career.
[14:33] Speaker 2: Now that you're back to work, how we do it
[14:36] Speaker 2: in the building right now?
[14:37] Speaker 4: Yeah, it's great.
[14:38] Speaker 8: It's greatly back in the building, back with the guys
[14:40] Speaker 8: going to work, you know, getting back and flow and rhythm,
[14:43] Speaker 8: not on the offensively but defensively as well, and you know,
[14:46] Speaker 8: just rising up to the challenge. We know we have
[14:48] Speaker 8: a lot of work to do. Last season wasn't our
[14:51] Speaker 8: goal in mind, but you know we at the end
[14:53] Speaker 8: of the day, we understand what we need to do
[14:55] Speaker 8: to build and be better.
[14:57] Speaker 9: What did you do with this very usually long off season.
[15:01] Speaker 9: What were you doing with yourself to keep yourself busy.
[15:04] Speaker 8: Yeah, it's a vacation, a lot of vacations, but ultimately,
[15:07] Speaker 8: you know, just trying to get my body back healthy.
[15:10] Speaker 8: I felt like I missed way too much time last year.
[15:12] Speaker 8: It's not really indicative to me as a player, So
[15:14] Speaker 8: just trying to make sure I'm putting myself in a
[15:16] Speaker 8: position where I can play a full season, that I
[15:18] Speaker 8: can really go out there and help my team. I
[15:20] Speaker 8: never want to feel like I'm leaving my teammates out
[15:22] Speaker 8: there to battle and war. I want to be a
[15:24] Speaker 8: part of it. So for me, it was more so
[15:26] Speaker 8: self reflection of how can I be a better version
[15:28] Speaker 8: of tracement for the team in this organization and what
[15:31] Speaker 8: can I identify and do to make sure my body's
[15:33] Speaker 8: ready to go to and during another NFL season.
[15:36] Speaker 1: You mentioned it, you had the ankle injuries, You had
[15:38] Speaker 1: a lot of different stuff going on. That's a challenge,
[15:41] Speaker 1: there's no excuses, but it's a lot to be able
[15:43] Speaker 1: to try to work through. And you weren't the only
[15:45] Speaker 1: one on that Chiefs team. When you take a step
[15:47] Speaker 1: back and not just saying about twenty twenty five, but
[15:49] Speaker 1: where you guys are going in twenty twenty six, what
[15:52] Speaker 1: if anything, any point to these reasons for the optimism that, Okay,
[15:55] Speaker 1: last year was the outlier, We're going to be the
[15:57] Speaker 1: chiefs here.
[15:58] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[15:59] Speaker 8: I think you look at even our greatest moments, you know,
[16:01] Speaker 8: having two back to back super Bowl runs, you know,
[16:03] Speaker 8: going to a third super Bowl consecutively. You know, those
[16:06] Speaker 8: are long, strenuous years and seasons that add up together.
[16:09] Speaker 4: But at the end of the day, you know, after
[16:11] Speaker 4: we won a super.
[16:12] Speaker 8: Bowl, it's a new year. No one cares what you
[16:14] Speaker 8: did in the previous season. Every year presents a new opportunity,
[16:17] Speaker 8: a new ability to be better at what you were
[16:19] Speaker 8: last year, a new time to represent. It's a new
[16:21] Speaker 8: team every single year you step on that field. So
[16:23] Speaker 8: for us, you know, it's always exciting, It's always going
[16:26] Speaker 8: to be a challenge, and at the end of the day,
[16:27] Speaker 8: it's self reflect answer competitor. You always get better. You're
[16:30] Speaker 8: always looking to be better in some form and fashion
[16:32] Speaker 8: in your game.
[16:35] Speaker 9: Obviously, one of the injuries was to your quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
[16:39] Speaker 9: We've seen him around on tape throwing the ball. Andy
[16:42] Speaker 9: Read told us last week that if he could he
[16:45] Speaker 9: would probably play right now if they let him make
[16:47] Speaker 9: the decision. How are things around the building and what
[16:50] Speaker 9: kind of responsibility does maybe the offensive line feel added
[16:54] Speaker 9: responsibility to protect Mahomes especially early in the season.
[16:59] Speaker 8: Yeah, officsitive lineman, you always feel the responsibility keep your
[17:02] Speaker 8: quarterback calm protected, allowing him to operate. You have the
[17:06] Speaker 8: best quarterback in the game right now, so you want
[17:08] Speaker 8: to just give him any opportunity and ability to do
[17:10] Speaker 8: what he does best. And you see it every week
[17:12] Speaker 8: Sunday Monday, choosing whatever the heck we're playing. But at
[17:15] Speaker 8: the end of the day, you know, I think the
[17:16] Speaker 8: pressure is on us just as a team and us individually.
[17:19] Speaker 4: You know, what can we do to get better?
[17:21] Speaker 8: Every single day we step there and it's not a
[17:22] Speaker 8: big oh, We're going to do this and that. It's
[17:24] Speaker 8: just every single day, how am I improving? And at
[17:27] Speaker 8: the end of the day, you know, Patrick Mahomes is
[17:28] Speaker 8: the best competitor I've ever been around, the best quarterback
[17:30] Speaker 8: I ever been around. So for me, I just want
[17:32] Speaker 8: to make sure he's able to do his job, He's
[17:34] Speaker 8: able to be great and really anything.
[17:36] Speaker 4: That just won't limit him.
[17:37] Speaker 8: Man, Like my job is to keep him, you know,
[17:39] Speaker 8: protective man and able to do what he does best.
[17:41] Speaker 8: And as a front five unit, you know, we can
[17:44] Speaker 8: all work cohesively build more chemistry. And as the year
[17:47] Speaker 8: goes on and progresses, we obviously want to keep Pat
[17:49] Speaker 8: healthy because we know what type of player he is.
[17:51] Speaker 8: He's already proved himself and there's so much more of
[17:53] Speaker 8: him to do as well.
[17:56] Speaker 1: Im an Europaney. Back in the building, when guys heard that,
[18:00] Speaker 1: a lot of faces light up. People we've had on
[18:02] Speaker 1: the show. What does that guy even you right now?
[18:04] Speaker 1: What does that guy bring to the building that's so
[18:07] Speaker 1: unique that maybe can help you, guys get where you
[18:09] Speaker 1: want to go.
[18:10] Speaker 8: Yeah, eb is going to bring that passion, that juice,
[18:13] Speaker 8: that energy every single time. You know, he demands a
[18:16] Speaker 8: certain level of excellence and a lot of times, you know,
[18:20] Speaker 8: you can either take that as a competitor as a
[18:22] Speaker 8: player has always coming at me and all these different things,
[18:24] Speaker 8: or you're understanding that, hey, he has a job to do,
[18:27] Speaker 8: there's a system in place, and he wants to see
[18:29] Speaker 8: you be great because he sees potential in you.
[18:31] Speaker 4: So having you be in the building is great.
[18:33] Speaker 8: But like I said, just bringing that fire, that juice,
[18:35] Speaker 8: that energy every single day. That's him and the constant
[18:38] Speaker 8: profession that he is. But it's really cool to have
[18:40] Speaker 8: him back and just really excited to go to back
[18:42] Speaker 8: to work for him.
[18:43] Speaker 9: We showed the schedule at the beginning here and you
[18:46] Speaker 9: open with the Broncos on Monday Night Football. When the
[18:49] Speaker 9: schedule gets released and you see that it's the Broncos
[18:52] Speaker 9: right out of the gate, are you happy about that?
[18:54] Speaker 9: Do you want to play the team that won the
[18:57] Speaker 9: division when you guys were having an off year right
[18:59] Speaker 9: out of the gate.
[19:00] Speaker 8: Yeah, honestly, I'm happy to play anybody. Just happy to
[19:03] Speaker 8: go play football. It's what I do, It's what I love.
[19:06] Speaker 8: A lot of respect for the Broncos, that organization an
[19:08] Speaker 8: AFC West opponent. I played them multiple of the times
[19:11] Speaker 8: in my career, but have a lot of respect for
[19:13] Speaker 8: a lot of players in our organization and do a
[19:15] Speaker 8: fantastic job Trey.
[19:17] Speaker 1: You know, there's different guys in the locker room every
[19:19] Speaker 1: year face different challenges, whether it's in their personal lives,
[19:21] Speaker 1: on the field, whatever it might be. When you have
[19:23] Speaker 1: a guy like Rashi Rice continuing to go through things
[19:26] Speaker 1: the way that he has, how if it all do
[19:27] Speaker 1: you try to support and help that guy make it
[19:31] Speaker 1: to the other side here.
[19:32] Speaker 4: Yeah, that's my brother.
[19:33] Speaker 8: At the end of the day, I love Rashi and
[19:35] Speaker 8: he's a great competitor. And at the end of the day,
[19:37] Speaker 8: you know, I focus on what I have. I don't
[19:39] Speaker 8: really want to speak on other people's business out side
[19:41] Speaker 8: of these four walls. So for me, you know, she's
[19:43] Speaker 8: one of my closest friends, a great competitor, a great teammate,
[19:46] Speaker 8: and graven Bean.
[19:48] Speaker 9: Before we let you go, we want to ask you.
[19:49] Speaker 9: We know you run a summer camp. You got that
[19:51] Speaker 9: coming up in a few weeks back in Tennessee. Tell
[19:55] Speaker 9: us what you're doing there.
[19:56] Speaker 8: Yeah, so this is going to be, wow, my third
[20:00] Speaker 8: I think it's my third and secutive football camp my
[20:01] Speaker 8: hometown at Jackson, Tennessee. I've been doing it in my
[20:04] Speaker 8: high school University School of Jackson. They've been amazing in
[20:07] Speaker 8: terms of helping me with that event every single year
[20:10] Speaker 8: and year out, and it's just a really nice opportunity
[20:13] Speaker 8: and attempt to really reach out to the community, be
[20:16] Speaker 8: amongst the people of Jackson, Tennessee, because they are great
[20:18] Speaker 8: people West Tennessee, and really just having account just to
[20:22] Speaker 8: celebrate the kids, you know, I feel like the thing
[20:24] Speaker 8: about sports, no matter where you are, it's a great unifier, right,
[20:28] Speaker 8: and it's a way to engage everybody.
[20:30] Speaker 10: You know.
[20:30] Speaker 8: Obviously it's targeted towards boys, but like little girls have
[20:33] Speaker 8: been in my camp. We've had great events. It's a
[20:36] Speaker 8: great time for me to reconnect with some of my
[20:38] Speaker 8: Tennessee volunteer teammates and other people when mentors in my
[20:41] Speaker 8: life that mean a lot to me.
[20:42] Speaker 4: So really it's a reunion every year of sorts, but
[20:45] Speaker 4: really looking forward to this one.
[20:47] Speaker 8: Looking forward to giving back to you to the Jackson
[20:49] Speaker 8: my community because our community poured so much into me
[20:52] Speaker 8: and made me who I am as a man, as
[20:54] Speaker 8: a person you see today.
[20:55] Speaker 4: So it's really just a great attempt just to give back.
[20:57] Speaker 11: Man.
[20:58] Speaker 4: I'm really looking forward to it.
[21:00] Speaker 8: Boys and girls are watching, even the parents, you know,
[21:02] Speaker 8: really looking forward to having you guys out in the
[21:04] Speaker 8: community of Jackson.
[21:05] Speaker 4: Coming Together.
[21:07] Speaker 2: Camp is June twelfth and thirteenth. That's sold out.
[21:10] Speaker 1: You get the second to sixth graders, one the seventh
[21:12] Speaker 1: and twelfth graders, and one really quick for it. Letting
[21:13] Speaker 1: you go tray do any of those probably in the
[21:15] Speaker 1: seventh and twelfth grade category. Ever be like, all right,
[21:17] Speaker 1: I want one rep. And if they do, do you
[21:19] Speaker 1: give them that one rep? Do you show them who's boss?
[21:22] Speaker 4: They asked me every year, Man, I don't. I don't
[21:24] Speaker 4: want to hurt anybody. You know, we got liabilities involved,
[21:26] Speaker 4: so but no, it's always fun.
[21:29] Speaker 8: We have a little lineman segment and that's always cool
[21:31] Speaker 8: just to see the young guys going at it.
[21:34] Speaker 4: I like the competitive nature of it.
[21:35] Speaker 8: You know, a lot of times Tom West Tennessee was
[21:38] Speaker 8: often overlooked, so it's just like a unique opportunity to
[21:41] Speaker 8: give them a platform and a little bit of exposure
[21:43] Speaker 8: at the same time. So long answered, you know, no,
[21:47] Speaker 8: but it'd be pretty funny. I might give a kid
[21:50] Speaker 8: a rep this year, the best, the best linement. I
[21:52] Speaker 8: might give one rep.
[21:55] Speaker 2: There we go, one rep. I like your thinking insurance. Here,
[21:57] Speaker 2: be careful, take it easy out of here. Tree. Thanks
[22:00] Speaker 2: for Ton for the time, man, appreciate you being here.
[22:02] Speaker 4: Thanks for having me off Tons.
[22:04] Speaker 1: More to come here on the Insiders, including the visit
[22:07] Speaker 1: from our buddy cam Wolf. What teams have positioned themselves
[22:11] Speaker 1: this offseason to become true contenders? Cam with Answers and
[22:15] Speaker 1: predictions next on The Insiders. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed
[22:26] Speaker 1: the Teddy Bridgewater Act into law today. The high school
[22:30] Speaker 1: coaches in the state will now be able to use
[22:31] Speaker 1: their own money to help their players with expenses such
[22:34] Speaker 1: as food, transportation, fiscal therapy, and rehabilitation services. Law was
[22:39] Speaker 1: inspired a course by NFL quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, who was
[22:42] Speaker 1: suspended from coaching at a is alma mater, Miami Northwestern
[22:45] Speaker 1: for using his own money to provide meals and uber
[22:48] Speaker 1: rides for players. The new law officially authorizes coaches to
[22:51] Speaker 1: spend up to fifteen thousand dollars annually, provided it is
[22:54] Speaker 1: done in good faith and reported to a state agency.
[22:58] Speaker 1: Welcome back to the Tom Pelli Sero, a rat for
[23:01] Speaker 1: Mike Garafalo, joined now by our buddy Cam Wolf a
[23:04] Speaker 1: full house here on a holiday weekend edition of this show. Cam,
[23:07] Speaker 1: let's talk about some of the teams in saw season
[23:10] Speaker 1: that have been the most active, teams that might have
[23:12] Speaker 1: been on the prespice and now in your mind, our potential,
[23:16] Speaker 1: actual true contenders.
[23:18] Speaker 10: Where do you want to start, Tom, Let's start with
[23:21] Speaker 10: the Carolina Panthers. It's time for them to swing with
[23:25] Speaker 10: the big dogs. They won the division last year, snuck.
[23:28] Speaker 7: In at eight to nine.
[23:29] Speaker 10: People kind of rolled their eyes. They had an excellent offseason.
[23:32] Speaker 10: Their general manager, Dan Morgan, went out there and got
[23:34] Speaker 10: some dudes. Jalen Phillips the best pass rusher available, winning
[23:38] Speaker 10: got Devin Lloyd, the best linebacker available. Now they have
[23:41] Speaker 10: the talent to potentially swing. They just need consistency and
[23:45] Speaker 10: talking with people down there in Carolina. They've had a
[23:48] Speaker 10: great start to OTA's Bryce Young, I'm told has looked
[23:51] Speaker 10: really good. They have really talked about the offensive operation
[23:54] Speaker 10: looking more evolved than it has with another year in
[23:57] Speaker 10: Dave Canalis scheme. Their offensive coordinator Brad Isaac will call
[24:01] Speaker 10: plays which they think will help the offense. Really smart guy.
[24:04] Speaker 10: That can help Bryce and also allow Dave Canalis to
[24:06] Speaker 10: be able to look at the team at a full
[24:09] Speaker 10: view as well. Two big elements tempo an urgency within
[24:13] Speaker 10: this offense. They beat the Rams and the Packers last year.
[24:16] Speaker 10: Can they do it more consistently? Consistently? Why can't this
[24:19] Speaker 10: Panthers team win ten to twelve games this year?
[24:23] Speaker 7: That's what's going to be so interesting.
[24:24] Speaker 10: Cam.
[24:25] Speaker 6: You mentioned the play calling. That to me is the
[24:26] Speaker 6: biggest wild card. With the Carolina Panthers. Brad Izach highly
[24:30] Speaker 6: thought of and obviously very close with Dave Canals.
[24:33] Speaker 7: That two have been together for years.
[24:35] Speaker 6: And for Canals to entrust Isich with this, obviously he
[24:40] Speaker 6: believes in him and certainly this seems like something that
[24:42] Speaker 6: Bryce Young believes in and wants. Plus will allow Canals
[24:45] Speaker 6: to be a little more of the CEO head coach.
[24:47] Speaker 6: Is this the move that takes this team, especially with
[24:50] Speaker 6: a lot more talent on this roster now, to the
[24:52] Speaker 6: next level. We are going to see where they go
[24:55] Speaker 6: in twenty twenty six. All right, give me another one, Cam,
[24:58] Speaker 6: who else you got?
[25:00] Speaker 10: Let's go on the other side of the coast to
[25:02] Speaker 10: the Los Angeles Chargers. Why can't the Chargers be the
[25:06] Speaker 10: team that everybody hopes in to be this offseason? I
[25:09] Speaker 10: love the move to go get Mike McDaniel for Justin Herbert,
[25:13] Speaker 10: hopefully get a healthy offensive line.
[25:15] Speaker 2: Look.
[25:15] Speaker 10: I was with Mike McDaniel a lot in Miami, one
[25:18] Speaker 10: of the smartest offensive mines in football. He is going
[25:21] Speaker 10: to work with Justin Herbert and take him to the
[25:23] Speaker 10: next level. I know one thing talking to people in
[25:25] Speaker 10: that building, they focused on getting the footwork and getting
[25:29] Speaker 10: the timing and rhythm operation a little faster. Justin Herbert
[25:33] Speaker 10: one of the slowest time to third quarterbacks in the
[25:35] Speaker 10: last few years. Mike McDaniel's offense really fast, resistant on timing,
[25:40] Speaker 10: improving that element to where Justin Herbert does not score
[25:43] Speaker 10: three points in the playoffs like they did last year. Look,
[25:47] Speaker 10: they have the talent on defense, they've clearly shown with
[25:50] Speaker 10: a healthy offensive line with Shaun Slater and Joe Back.
[25:53] Speaker 10: You get an offensive line with Justin Herbert. Can he
[25:56] Speaker 10: realize that top six top eight talent and lead the
[25:59] Speaker 10: Chargers to not only being one of the playoff front.
[26:02] Speaker 2: Teams, but a true championship contender.
[26:05] Speaker 5: And they've tinkered with that offensive line. Tyler Biadish one
[26:08] Speaker 5: of the guys that they've added there. But yeah, sure right,
[26:10] Speaker 5: don't lose both of your highly drafted tackles and your offensive.
[26:14] Speaker 2: Line is going to look a lot better. The other
[26:16] Speaker 2: thing that Chargers have to deal with.
[26:17] Speaker 5: This season is a minus twenty four days rest disparity
[26:22] Speaker 5: now NFL NFL schedule maker Mike North, I forget his
[26:26] Speaker 5: exact title is a VP.
[26:27] Speaker 2: He's got to be a VP. What's up, Mike North?
[26:29] Speaker 2: Hope you have a great Memorial Day weekend.
[26:31] Speaker 5: He says rest disparity is not a thing, but everybody
[26:35] Speaker 5: else says minus twenty four is a historically bad rest disparities.
[26:39] Speaker 5: Let's see how Jim Harball and company can handle this
[26:42] Speaker 5: tough schedule that the NFL has thrown their way. Let's
[26:45] Speaker 5: talk about the Cincinnati Bengals, because I have high expectations
[26:48] Speaker 5: for the Bengals.
[26:49] Speaker 2: No idea what the rest disparity is for the Bengals.
[26:51] Speaker 5: Schedule doesn't matter, though, cam because they're going to perform
[26:54] Speaker 5: well this year.
[26:54] Speaker 4: I just know it.
[26:55] Speaker 10: It's time for the Cincinnati Bengals to transform into true contenders.
[26:58] Speaker 10: We often list them among the contenders. We loop them
[27:02] Speaker 10: in with the Ravens, with the Bills as teams right
[27:04] Speaker 10: on the hills of the Chiefs. The reality is the
[27:06] Speaker 10: Bengals haven't made the playoffs in three years. It's time
[27:09] Speaker 10: to do it now or never, and they had an
[27:10] Speaker 10: offseason that showed that they wanted to be now. And
[27:13] Speaker 10: Joe Burrow said very important words this past week, saying,
[27:17] Speaker 10: this is the most talented team we've had since I've
[27:20] Speaker 10: been here. Super Bowl is the goal and it should be.
[27:23] Speaker 10: This is a Bengals team that has enough on offense,
[27:25] Speaker 10: they just been waiting for the defense the key I'm watching.
[27:28] Speaker 10: Can they just be a league average defense that would
[27:31] Speaker 10: probably be enough with that quarterback with those weapons to.
[27:34] Speaker 4: Be able to win.
[27:35] Speaker 10: They went out there and got Dexter Lawrence, Lawrence Boye, Mafe,
[27:38] Speaker 10: Brian Cook, real additions. This Bengals front office hurt all
[27:42] Speaker 10: the criticism and they showed up with some dudes.
[27:45] Speaker 2: They have the talent.
[27:46] Speaker 10: Can those guys, along with some young button stars like
[27:49] Speaker 10: DJ Turner at corner step up and help this Bengals
[27:51] Speaker 10: team be good enough on defense to help Joe Burrow
[27:55] Speaker 10: lead this team to being a championship contender.
[27:58] Speaker 1: We have everything we need in that locker room. That
[28:01] Speaker 1: was the other quote from Joe burrowcam that stuck out
[28:04] Speaker 1: to me. For a quarterback who at times has whether
[28:07] Speaker 1: tacitly or explicitly, expressed frustration about the overall direction of
[28:12] Speaker 1: things and not winning games. Obviously, Bro's had a lot
[28:14] Speaker 1: of injuries. That certainly puts everybody on notice. We have
[28:18] Speaker 1: the players, It's not going to be the talent on
[28:20] Speaker 1: the roster that holds us back a big season for
[28:23] Speaker 1: everybody involved. Right there, in Cincinnati. Cam thank you very much.
[28:27] Speaker 1: We will look forward to talking to you again very soon.
[28:31] Speaker 1: Double the banners, Double the fun for the Seattle Seahawks,
[28:35] Speaker 1: hanging another one twelve years after the first Super Bowl
[28:38] Speaker 1: win in franchise history. They beat the Patriots and got
[28:42] Speaker 1: to hoist another to the rafters out there at the vMac.
[28:46] Speaker 1: Welcome back to the Insiders, Tom Pilli sero Ian rapport,
[28:49] Speaker 1: joined now by Jeffrey Chedia. That twenty and twenty five season, Jeffrey,
[28:52] Speaker 1: that is now long in the books. We are over
[28:54] Speaker 1: the hump. We're closer to next season than we are
[28:57] Speaker 1: to last season. Time for some way too early actions
[29:00] Speaker 1: that I would argue, right on, Tom, what's your first one?
[29:03] Speaker 12: I'm going to start with Kyler Murray of the Arizona
[29:06] Speaker 12: Cardinals formerly Arizona Cardinals, goaringnon big vikings and becoming a
[29:09] Speaker 12: comeback player of the Year, because I look at this
[29:11] Speaker 12: this as a situation where I know he's competing with
[29:13] Speaker 12: JJ McCarthy, but I remember Daniel Jones going to the
[29:15] Speaker 12: Colts competing with Anthony Richardson. We know how that turned out.
[29:19] Speaker 12: He has a great supporting cast in Minnesota. He's got
[29:22] Speaker 12: a great head coaching Kevin O'Connell, a guy who's known
[29:24] Speaker 12: for working with quarterbacks, got the most out of Sam
[29:27] Speaker 12: Donald a couple of years ago. So Kyler Murray in Minnesota,
[29:30] Speaker 12: great fit, big award coming his way.
[29:34] Speaker 2: Yeah, and if this.
[29:34] Speaker 6: One does happen, which I mean, look, I think it's
[29:37] Speaker 6: safe to say, would not be like the biggest surprising
[29:39] Speaker 6: the world. What have wide ranging ramifications. Here's basically what
[29:43] Speaker 6: it would mean if this ended up happening. We mean
[29:45] Speaker 6: Kyler Murray is a franchise quarterback for Minnesota. Likely would
[29:48] Speaker 6: mean they would likely try to sign him to a
[29:50] Speaker 6: contract extension or potentially would franchise tag him. Would also
[29:54] Speaker 6: mean that JJ McCarthy probably would be headed elsewhere. Would
[29:57] Speaker 6: also mean there for the first time in several years
[30:00] Speaker 6: O'Connell in the Minnesota Vikings. Whoever, the new gm is
[30:02] Speaker 6: would not be looking for a quarterback if this happened.
[30:06] Speaker 6: Not about overall result, a result for in Minnesota. All right,
[30:09] Speaker 6: give me another one, Jeff, what.
[30:10] Speaker 4: Do you got? I'm going to go with mass Crosby
[30:13] Speaker 4: leading the league in sacks, and I know Miles.
[30:15] Speaker 12: Garrett has been a terror and set the single season
[30:17] Speaker 12: single sax record last year. But mass Crosby, with that
[30:21] Speaker 12: trade not working out in Baltimore, coming back to the
[30:23] Speaker 12: Raiders hat in hand a little bit. People talking about
[30:26] Speaker 12: his knee. I think he's going to be fired up.
[30:28] Speaker 12: He's never let the league in sacks. He has a
[30:30] Speaker 12: career high at fourteen and a half. But my guy,
[30:32] Speaker 12: you look at that defense, what they've added, Mass Crosby upset, angry.
[30:36] Speaker 4: I think he's going to put up big numbers.
[30:39] Speaker 1: One of the wilder developments this entire offseason was Max Crosby.
[30:43] Speaker 1: At the time that he was traded before he wasn't
[30:46] Speaker 1: left a Raiders team that looked fundamentally different. Four or
[30:49] Speaker 1: five days later when the trade was called off, all
[30:51] Speaker 1: of a sudden, They've signed. They spent money on linebackers,
[30:54] Speaker 1: other people to support Max Crosby. Now we still have
[30:57] Speaker 1: to see how this entire thing plays out. There's certainly
[31:00] Speaker 1: is the possibility the weather in June, when Max Crosby
[31:03] Speaker 1: should be fully healthy, whether it's in August or September,
[31:06] Speaker 1: the Raiders may get more phone calls. But I know this,
[31:09] Speaker 1: Max Crosby intends to be there in Las Vegas. That's
[31:12] Speaker 1: where he wants to be. The Raiders aren't looking to
[31:14] Speaker 1: shove him out the door, but does somebody step up
[31:17] Speaker 1: with the type of an offer that makes them rethink
[31:19] Speaker 1: if Jeffrey one of many storylines will be following here
[31:21] Speaker 1: for months to come.
[31:22] Speaker 2: Give me another way too early.
[31:24] Speaker 7: But in my opinion on time prediction, Oh, I love
[31:27] Speaker 7: this one.
[31:27] Speaker 12: It's Kevin Stefanski getting this third Coach of the Year award,
[31:30] Speaker 12: this time with the Atlanta Falcons because let's face, the
[31:33] Speaker 12: NFC South is wide open.
[31:34] Speaker 4: Carolina won it with eight wins last year.
[31:37] Speaker 12: He's joining a team that won their last four games
[31:39] Speaker 12: last year, beat the Rams in that run. Ton of
[31:42] Speaker 12: offensive talent with Bjihon Robinson and Drake London and improving defense.
[31:46] Speaker 12: But the key here he's got two quarterbacks, one of
[31:49] Speaker 12: Michael Pennix went into a Tugabaaloa who've had their issues
[31:52] Speaker 12: with injuries and inconsistency. If he get those guys right
[31:55] Speaker 12: and they win this division, this award is going to
[31:57] Speaker 12: be his.
[31:58] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[31:59] Speaker 7: I think it's pretty clear.
[32:00] Speaker 6: Vision is there for taking a though there are some
[32:01] Speaker 6: teams where you say, could they make that big leap?
[32:05] Speaker 7: Cayln the Panthers would be one. New Orleans Saints would
[32:07] Speaker 7: be another.
[32:08] Speaker 6: But if the Atlanta Falcons going a little bit of
[32:10] Speaker 6: a tear, I would wonder who their quarterback is going
[32:13] Speaker 6: to be. But it's Michael Penny Studient. That's probably good
[32:15] Speaker 6: news because it means they do have a quarterback for
[32:17] Speaker 6: the future. But I think it's safe to say, Jeffrey,
[32:19] Speaker 6: that we got a little bit of time before we
[32:21] Speaker 6: really see this one play out. All right, those have
[32:24] Speaker 6: been good. Give me your boldest of predictions before we
[32:28] Speaker 6: let you out of here.
[32:29] Speaker 4: Oh this is bold, bold as boldest can get here.
[32:32] Speaker 12: Ian, I'm talking about the receiving triple crown going to
[32:35] Speaker 12: Jalen Wattle of the Denver Broncos.
[32:37] Speaker 4: They traded a first round pick to get him.
[32:39] Speaker 12: I know they've got other receivers there, and he's going
[32:41] Speaker 12: to have help there with Cortlandt and some other guys
[32:43] Speaker 12: and Bo Nix. I get that deep ball going the
[32:45] Speaker 12: Jalen Wattle is a player who's primed to have a
[32:48] Speaker 12: big year in this office because Sean Payne. I think
[32:50] Speaker 12: back when he had Michael Thomas and New Orleans. He
[32:52] Speaker 12: got him to a receiving single season record in the
[32:55] Speaker 12: league with eighteen hundred yards receiving back then. I imagine
[32:58] Speaker 12: Jalen Wattle in this offense with Sean Payne, I'm going
[33:00] Speaker 12: to get some big plays going.
[33:01] Speaker 4: He's going to get.
[33:02] Speaker 12: Him back to where he wasn't a rookie when he
[33:03] Speaker 12: had one hundred touches thirty hundred yards of a second
[33:05] Speaker 12: year receiver.
[33:06] Speaker 4: He has a talent to do it now he's got
[33:08] Speaker 4: the offense.
[33:10] Speaker 1: So so, they didn't think they were going to be
[33:12] Speaker 1: able to get a guy at the bottom of the
[33:13] Speaker 1: first round who would give them the type of production
[33:15] Speaker 1: that Jalen Waddle would.
[33:16] Speaker 2: That's why they were willing to make that trade. Receiver.
[33:19] Speaker 1: Triple crown is a lot for a guy who more
[33:21] Speaker 1: recently has been a vertical type of threat for Miami.
[33:24] Speaker 1: There are ways though the manufacturer touches. You're right, Sean
[33:27] Speaker 1: Payton is as good at that as anybody will be
[33:30] Speaker 1: fascinated to see exactly how he uses them, right.
[33:32] Speaker 2: I got actually want one more from.
[33:33] Speaker 1: Me, Jeffrey Way too early twenty twenty six NFL MVP prediction.
[33:39] Speaker 12: Yeah, I'm gonna get Caleb Williams of my guy right
[33:41] Speaker 12: now from Chicago, And I know there's other It's a
[33:43] Speaker 12: lot of names on this list. Like Mahomes and Josh Allen,
[33:46] Speaker 12: Lamar Jackson some big names ahead of him, but look
[33:48] Speaker 12: at the way he played last year for a team
[33:50] Speaker 12: that's Marti franchise, had big plays, big comebacks.
[33:55] Speaker 4: Second year in Ben Johnson's offense, Yeah.
[33:57] Speaker 12: The completion procedents has got to get up there at
[33:59] Speaker 12: fifty eight percent last year, but I imagine secondary in
[34:02] Speaker 12: his offense. With the weapons he has and the hot
[34:06] Speaker 12: spotlight on the Bears, he's going to have opportunities to
[34:09] Speaker 12: get in that conversation and Jane Dinells Drake made those
[34:11] Speaker 12: guys have had their run. This guy was the first
[34:14] Speaker 12: overall pick in that class for a reason.
[34:17] Speaker 6: And if this happens, this will mean the Chicago Bears
[34:19] Speaker 6: have done this one, like you mentioned, with all of
[34:21] Speaker 6: these spotlight on him too, with the toughest schedule as of.
[34:25] Speaker 7: Right now, would mean Kayle Williams becomes.
[34:27] Speaker 6: A bona fide star, which I think it's safe to
[34:30] Speaker 6: say if you're a Chicago Bears fan, would probably be
[34:32] Speaker 6: a pretty good result. Jeffrey great Stuff has always enjoyed
[34:35] Speaker 6: that in as far as I'm concerned, I'm with Tom
[34:37] Speaker 6: definitely not too early for any.
[34:39] Speaker 4: Of this let's go for this. Let's no risk at
[34:43] Speaker 4: no biscuit.
[34:45] Speaker 2: Those are just words for books. He lives no risk,
[34:47] Speaker 2: no biscuits, then.
[34:48] Speaker 7: Goes back to a poem one of my high school
[34:50] Speaker 7: coaches put in my playbook.
[34:53] Speaker 4: No great thing is ever going to happen by happenstance.
[34:57] Speaker 2: You can't hit a home.
[34:58] Speaker 4: Run if you don't swing for the fans.
[35:00] Speaker 2: Going hooked up. The par five just went all over
[35:03] Speaker 2: the water.
[35:04] Speaker 4: I heard the play call come in. Tom Kin looks
[35:07] Speaker 4: at me as what it was.
[35:09] Speaker 2: Double go Mia.
[35:10] Speaker 4: Scottie. Scotty Miller was six round draft pick, very very fast,
[35:15] Speaker 4: and that was his role with our football team. All right,
[35:18] Speaker 4: let's give it a look.
[35:22] Speaker 2: With eight seconds on the clock, you cannot give up
[35:24] Speaker 2: the big play.
[35:26] Speaker 8: I looked down the middle, still a little bit looked
[35:29] Speaker 8: over sas Scottie running.
[35:33] Speaker 2: Brady goes for the deep shot, and.
[35:37] Speaker 13: We're kind of like looking up trying to find the ball,
[35:40] Speaker 13: and I see Scotty like falling in the end zone with.
[35:42] Speaker 2: Him to Scotty Miller, Oh my god, what is happening.
[35:51] Speaker 12: Scottie Miller got behind the defense.
[35:58] Speaker 2: Raise the flags.
[35:59] Speaker 5: Marks fifty seasons of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with a
[36:02] Speaker 5: ten part series exploring the franchise's history, defining moments, and
[36:06] Speaker 5: untold stories. The series chronicles one of the most remarkable
[36:09] Speaker 5: turnarounds in sports history. Catch Raise the Flags Episodes one
[36:13] Speaker 5: and two on NFL Network Monday at eight pm Eastern.
[36:18] Speaker 5: Monday is after the weekend, although I guess technically part
[36:23] Speaker 5: of this weekend. I mean this is an extended weekend,
[36:25] Speaker 5: so we have an extended weekender. This is going to
[36:27] Speaker 5: be a two part series here with that, No, no,
[36:29] Speaker 5: just one part. Get going, it's the weekender.
[36:32] Speaker 13: All right, thank you so much, hos. And that looks
[36:34] Speaker 13: like a great film, and it's the NFL Networks. Pop
[36:36] Speaker 13: culture aficionado an expert on film, I'm going to tell
[36:40] Speaker 13: you I'm not against remakes. George Clode and Brad Pitt
[36:42] Speaker 13: did a great job of remaking The Ocean's eleven franchise,
[36:46] Speaker 13: although I got to say I'm a little dubious of
[36:48] Speaker 13: Rashi Rice's attempt to remake Adam Sandler's remake of the
[36:53] Speaker 13: Longest Yard. Because if you heard the news this week,
[36:55] Speaker 13: Rareshi Rice was ordered to serve thirty days in jail
[36:58] Speaker 13: for violating his which means He's going to be having
[37:01] Speaker 13: to do his rehab from jail, which sent me on
[37:04] Speaker 13: a rabbit hole of prison workouts on ig and I'm like,
[37:08] Speaker 13: maybe this isn't the worst idea, although I don't know
[37:10] Speaker 13: if I'm ever getting out of.
[37:11] Speaker 2: The rabbit hole. I'm not in jail.
[37:14] Speaker 13: And speaking of jail, AJ Brown has been trying to
[37:17] Speaker 13: break out of Philadelphia over the past year.
[37:19] Speaker 2: Why I don't know, maybe he hates winning.
[37:22] Speaker 13: But the Kansas City Chiefs have been a rumored destination
[37:25] Speaker 13: for AJ Brown, so perhaps the news of Rashi Rice
[37:29] Speaker 13: will spur some potential trade talks between the two teams.
[37:33] Speaker 13: Although I don't like the idea of AJ Brown being
[37:36] Speaker 13: rewarded in this instance, Like the Eagles rescued you from Tennessee,
[37:41] Speaker 13: show a little bit of gratitude, and the Eagles are
[37:44] Speaker 13: the team that usually dropped the hammer. Look at what
[37:46] Speaker 13: happened with Saquon Barkley and the New York Giants.
[37:49] Speaker 2: They did that to the Giants.
[37:50] Speaker 13: The Eagles are a model franchise that take advantage of
[37:54] Speaker 13: lesser gms. And speaking of lesser gms, congratulations to Joe
[37:58] Speaker 13: Shane for getting a contract extension.
[38:00] Speaker 2: With the de Hirt Giants. Why I don't know.
[38:03] Speaker 13: I don't know why he's getting a contract extentsive he
[38:05] Speaker 13: won four games this season that deserved a contract extension.
[38:09] Speaker 2: I don't know what the Giants are thinking about.
[38:12] Speaker 13: As a matter of fact, I'm having a hard time
[38:14] Speaker 13: trying to illustrate my Do you guys have a photo
[38:16] Speaker 13: in the back that will kind of illustrate my that
[38:19] Speaker 13: is congratulations. Hey, here's four more wins, Giants?
[38:24] Speaker 2: What are we doing here?
[38:25] Speaker 13: This is what's I love this guy, by the way,
[38:27] Speaker 13: I'm glad this is how we use Disney's money. Now, Hey,
[38:31] Speaker 13: meme shirt guy, I love you. Thank you for summing
[38:34] Speaker 13: my feelings up. But our main story this week is
[38:37] Speaker 13: going to be Aaron Rodgers and did you ever invite
[38:40] Speaker 13: somebody to a party and then instantly regretted? Like Aaron
[38:43] Speaker 13: Rodgers is coming back to the NFL. We're like, god,
[38:45] Speaker 13: this is great, Like, well, no, because he's back in
[38:48] Speaker 13: the NFL. It's kind of like when you watch the
[38:50] Speaker 13: VANDR Pump Rules and you're like, why are you inviting
[38:52] Speaker 13: Marcus and Kim to the same party.
[38:55] Speaker 2: They have a toxic relationship.
[38:57] Speaker 13: Like, don't do this, Like Marcus is going to go
[38:58] Speaker 13: on about his DJ You're not gonna be a DJ
[39:01] Speaker 13: Marcus that that dream is gone, let it go.
[39:04] Speaker 2: But still Aaron.
[39:05] Speaker 13: Rodgers is back, and he did make news this week
[39:07] Speaker 13: when he announced this is going to be his last
[39:10] Speaker 13: season in the NFL.
[39:11] Speaker 2: And someone for you are like, this is great news.
[39:13] Speaker 13: It's not because because now the whole season is going
[39:17] Speaker 13: to be about the last dance for Aaron Rodgers, Like, oh,
[39:20] Speaker 13: tune in. This week Aaron Rodgers makes his last appearance
[39:24] Speaker 13: in Tampa Bay, Like what what do we do?
[39:27] Speaker 2: And then is he is he.
[39:28] Speaker 13: Expecting a Kobe Bryant Derek Jeter like sendoff where all
[39:32] Speaker 13: these teams are gonna have to give him gifts? You're like,
[39:34] Speaker 13: oh my god, what are we getting him? Like, here's
[39:36] Speaker 13: some alkaline water and some insights. Just just go away,
[39:39] Speaker 13: Aaron Royn.
[39:40] Speaker 2: That's all we need.
[39:40] Speaker 13: Like what are we gonna do? You're not going to
[39:43] Speaker 13: truly go away, because I know you'll eventually do. Do
[39:45] Speaker 13: you adds for like reverse mortgages and some of those
[39:48] Speaker 13: other things the car shield or whatever it is. We
[39:51] Speaker 13: know you'll never truly go away. That is your destiny.
[39:54] Speaker 13: And speaking of your destiny, in an effort to keep
[39:57] Speaker 13: the lights on here and is a favorite to our
[40:00] Speaker 13: our media overlords at ESPN.
[40:02] Speaker 2: Hey go see the Mandalorian and gro Goo.
[40:05] Speaker 13: It is a great movie. Listen, nerds. Not everything has
[40:09] Speaker 13: to be and or Okay.
[40:11] Speaker 2: You can have some fun.
[40:12] Speaker 7: You can have some It's just an enjoyable thing.
[40:14] Speaker 2: Remember when you were a kid.
[40:15] Speaker 7: He was like Star Wars, Mike, That's what I'm talking about, Like,
[40:19] Speaker 7: just have some fun.
[40:21] Speaker 4: Go see you.
[40:21] Speaker 2: Mandalorian is rero you. There was only three of them.
[40:25] Speaker 2: It was easier to keep track of.
[40:26] Speaker 5: Now there's three thousand, and there's just I mean, there's
[40:29] Speaker 5: more than there are galaxies in the universe.
[40:32] Speaker 4: That was Adam Rank.
[40:33] Speaker 2: I don't think I introduced him off the top. His
[40:34] Speaker 2: name is AA Bregan Adam Rak The Weekender. Get started
[40:38] Speaker 2: on your weekend, my friend.
[40:39] Speaker 5: We appreciate you here always on the insiders, even if
[40:43] Speaker 5: we don't say your name.
[40:44] Speaker 4: There's gonna be tough times. They're gonna show up too.
[40:46] Speaker 2: You might get a call with some bad news, maybe
[40:50] Speaker 2: about your job. People they'll tell you they don't want
[40:54] Speaker 2: you anymore.
[40:55] Speaker 4: Time to move on.
[40:58] Speaker 14: And if the kid from Inglewood who grew up in
[41:00] Speaker 14: Foster Care lived in the motel doubted hisself, left school
[41:03] Speaker 14: with a one point AGPA and still find his way
[41:06] Speaker 14: back here to earn all a's and I can do
[41:08] Speaker 14: it there. There's no limit to what any of us
[41:10] Speaker 14: in this room can accomplish. Congratulations to the class of
[41:13] Speaker 14: twenty twenty six.
[41:14] Speaker 2: We made it.
[41:17] Speaker 8: I walked into the locker room and Richard Sherman and
[41:20] Speaker 8: Doug Ball when we're talking about how great Stamford was,
[41:24] Speaker 8: I don't know Stanford's cool, but it's now Utah State.
[41:26] Speaker 3: You know what I mean.
[41:27] Speaker 11: So I think it's important for you to recognize you're
[41:34] Speaker 11: not on your own to get this done. So for start,
[41:37] Speaker 11: it was great teammates. You know how to give it
[41:38] Speaker 11: up for each other, so they also know that you
[41:42] Speaker 11: always protect the team. What I want you to do
[41:44] Speaker 11: right now, I want you to get out of your seats.
[41:45] Speaker 11: I want you to stand up. I want you to
[41:47] Speaker 11: high five Dap. I want you to give a little love.
[41:49] Speaker 11: I want you to look him in the eye. Right now.
[41:50] Speaker 2: Let's go, everybody else, let's go. Let's go.
[41:55] Speaker 10: When the odds are stacked against you, when you're facing
[41:57] Speaker 10: your own twenty eight to three moment, and believe me,
[42:01] Speaker 10: it's coming.
[42:02] Speaker 4: You have a choice to make, to quit or to
[42:06] Speaker 4: fight your off.
[42:09] Speaker 1: A lot of Super Bowl rings, giving commencement addresses right there. Ian,
[42:13] Speaker 1: You got any advice for these recent college grants?
[42:16] Speaker 6: Can't believe Brady did in Comba's hair. Yes, here's my advice.
[42:20] Speaker 6: Move somewhere weird and go figure it out. I moved
[42:23] Speaker 6: to Mississippi for my first full time job.
[42:26] Speaker 2: Do that it worked out, Mike, Uh, find something a
[42:30] Speaker 2: bot can't do. We gotta go. Yep, stay on time.
[42:36] Speaker 2: That's a good one. See on Tuesday doing the weekend
