[0:01] Speaker 1: The Giants are back to work and the new coaches
[0:04] Speaker 1: have big plans for Jackson Dark. Here what oc Matt
[0:08] Speaker 1: Nagy said today about his vision for Dark two point zero.
[0:13] Speaker 1: Fernando Mendoza is two weeks away from probably landing in
[0:17] Speaker 1: Las Vegas, where he'll team up with Kirk Cousins Brian Boldingers.
[0:21] Speaker 1: Here tonight to break down one of the NFL's most
[0:24] Speaker 1: fascinating quarterback rooms. We'll also chat with a prospect whose
[0:28] Speaker 1: name could be called later in the draft, Pitts. Kyle
[0:31] Speaker 1: Lewis joins the show to talk about where he could
[0:34] Speaker 1: be dancing and harassing. QB's next. Welcome inside with the
[0:38] Speaker 1: Insiders alongside Ian Rappaport and Juny Batiste. I am Tom Pelicero.
[0:45] Speaker 1: We are fourteen days away from the twenty twenty six
[0:48] Speaker 1: NFL Draft, and within the past hour, we now know
[0:52] Speaker 1: the sixteen players who will be in the green room
[0:55] Speaker 1: in Pittsburgh seeing when their names are going to be called.
[0:58] Speaker 1: Take a look at the offensives. No, Fernando MENDOZI will
[1:01] Speaker 1: be taking the draft in from back home, but we'll
[1:04] Speaker 1: have a quarterback. Ty Simpson is going to be on
[1:07] Speaker 1: hand among several receivers and lineman defensively, some of the
[1:11] Speaker 1: biggest names in the entire draft. David Bailey, the Texas
[1:15] Speaker 1: tech edge among them. Ian who in your mind is
[1:18] Speaker 1: the most interesting of these sixteen guys? And what for me?
[1:21] Speaker 2: I have my eyes on Ruben Bain, one of the
[1:23] Speaker 2: top pass rushers in this draft, no doubt talent. I
[1:26] Speaker 2: know a lot of people love his film, and certainly
[1:29] Speaker 2: it's fair to say there are questions mostly about his
[1:31] Speaker 2: short arms, which sounds familiar. It's exactly what we do
[1:34] Speaker 2: with Will Campbell last year ended up going number four overall.
[1:37] Speaker 2: But Bain is an interesting one for me, guys, because
[1:40] Speaker 2: let's just say in this scenario that he gets to
[1:43] Speaker 2: let's say six or maybe seven. I know there's some
[1:47] Speaker 2: teams up around ten. You got the Kennessey Chiefs, you
[1:51] Speaker 2: have the Saints at eight, you have the Dallas Cowboys
[1:53] Speaker 2: a little after that, who have done all the homework
[1:56] Speaker 2: on edge rushers. Who who have a need at edge
[1:59] Speaker 2: rusher to try to get an impact player in the defense.
[2:01] Speaker 2: Is Reuben Bain the center of some trade talks? Do
[2:05] Speaker 2: we actually see bainbe the subject of the first trade
[2:08] Speaker 2: in the top ten? For me, this isn't a question
[2:11] Speaker 2: of when he is going to go. He is going
[2:13] Speaker 2: to go, and want he is going to be a
[2:14] Speaker 2: top fifteen pick. It's really just does someone absolutely need
[2:19] Speaker 2: him where they decide to trade up for.
[2:21] Speaker 3: I am going to have my eyes on ty Simpson, who,
[2:23] Speaker 3: as it stands right now, is the only quarterback slated
[2:26] Speaker 3: to be in the room, which means all of the
[2:28] Speaker 3: cameras will be on him anyway. And one of the
[2:32] Speaker 3: things watching the green room that gives me nervous, it
[2:36] Speaker 3: gets me nervous, is watching guys sit there too long,
[2:39] Speaker 3: and we just don't have a good read right now
[2:42] Speaker 3: on how ty Simpson is going to go. At what
[2:45] Speaker 3: point in the draft is he going to go? Is
[2:47] Speaker 3: it possibly slips out of the first round, even it's
[2:51] Speaker 3: a really tough spot. I admire guys who want to
[2:55] Speaker 3: go to the draft. I know they all dream about
[2:57] Speaker 3: walking across the stage and being the commissioner when they
[3:01] Speaker 3: are selected.
[3:03] Speaker 1: But I just flashed back to when Lamar Jackson was in.
[3:05] Speaker 3: The green room and sitting there, sitting there, sitting there,
[3:08] Speaker 3: that long, long wait, and how tough it is on
[3:10] Speaker 3: guys who have to wait. I hope that is not
[3:12] Speaker 3: the case for Ty Simpson, I am going to be
[3:15] Speaker 3: watching him. I think we're all going to be watching him.
[3:17] Speaker 1: In any case, we all remember all those quarterbacks who
[3:19] Speaker 1: had longer than anticipated waits. Will Levis was one recently,
[3:22] Speaker 1: Brady Quinn. If you go back in the day, it
[3:25] Speaker 1: is a gamble to be in that room, especially as
[3:28] Speaker 1: a quarterback with all eyes on you. Probably not as
[3:30] Speaker 1: much of a gamble being an Ohio State player in
[3:33] Speaker 1: the green room. Five Ohio State players above these sixteen.
[3:36] Speaker 1: Our records go back to twenty twelve. This would match
[3:40] Speaker 1: the record along with twenty twelve Alabama and twenty sixteen
[3:43] Speaker 1: Ohio State for the most guys from one room. We
[3:45] Speaker 1: know all these guys kind of get to know each
[3:47] Speaker 1: other throughout the course of the week, but you can
[3:49] Speaker 1: only imagine these celebrations that will go on as those
[3:51] Speaker 1: first couple of guys come off the board and some
[3:54] Speaker 1: of the dudes that they are closest with being in
[3:56] Speaker 1: that room with them. That is pretty cool. Jackson Dirt
[3:58] Speaker 1: had a little bit of a way last year before
[4:00] Speaker 1: the Giants traded back into the first round to get him. Now,
[4:04] Speaker 1: entering year two, he's got a new head coach in
[4:06] Speaker 1: John Harbaugh and a new offensive coordinator in Matt Nagy,
[4:10] Speaker 1: who has worked with a certain other talented quarterback in
[4:13] Speaker 1: Kansas City.
[4:14] Speaker 4: He's Jackson Dart. He's not Patrick Mahomes.
[4:16] Speaker 5: And I was able to be fortunate enough to be
[4:19] Speaker 5: around Patrick for many years, and I saw Patrick as
[4:22] Speaker 5: a rookie, and then I got to see him coming
[4:25] Speaker 5: back when I came back from Chicago four years in,
[4:28] Speaker 5: I got to see, you know, four more years of
[4:31] Speaker 5: him as a vet. But we can use that for
[4:34] Speaker 5: more like routines and like maybe how we did things.
[4:37] Speaker 5: But the one thing that I know is like, first
[4:40] Speaker 5: of all, I know how much respect that Jackson has
[4:43] Speaker 5: for Patrick, and we've talked a little bit about the
[4:46] Speaker 5: process and what he's been through, but like we've also
[4:48] Speaker 5: made it clear like you have to be Jackson Dart
[4:51] Speaker 5: and he's going to do that. So it's our job
[4:53] Speaker 5: to surround him and insulate him, give him direction, but
[4:56] Speaker 5: he has to be able to tell us like what,
[4:59] Speaker 5: how he likes, why he likes it, and so forth.
[5:01] Speaker 5: So we're going to be really intentional on how we
[5:05] Speaker 5: do that.
[5:07] Speaker 1: Matt, may you obain the first rule of OC club
[5:10] Speaker 1: never compare your current quarterback to maybe the greatest quarterback
[5:13] Speaker 1: of all time. We know this Giants team, Judy has
[5:15] Speaker 1: some talent on the roster. They've got some guys they
[5:17] Speaker 1: were like at the skill spots. They're high on Jackson
[5:19] Speaker 1: Darts seven picks in this year's draft. Give me the
[5:21] Speaker 1: state of the Giants from your perspective right.
[5:23] Speaker 3: Now, I can tell you that one thing that is
[5:25] Speaker 3: on their minds is protecting Jackson Dart. John Harbaugh has
[5:30] Speaker 3: been open talking about that the offensive line is.
[5:32] Speaker 1: A work in progress.
[5:33] Speaker 3: He's also talked about the defensive line too, but protecting
[5:36] Speaker 3: Jackson Dart sometimes protecting him from himself. This goes for
[5:39] Speaker 3: camp Skataboo too, when he's there protecting him better than
[5:44] Speaker 3: he was protected last year. He took a lot of
[5:46] Speaker 3: hard hits. That is something actually that Patrick Mahomes has
[5:49] Speaker 3: learned how to avoid in his career. Of course, we
[5:52] Speaker 3: know that he dances along the sideline and it drives
[5:54] Speaker 3: the defensive players crazy. But it is something that they
[5:57] Speaker 3: are going to have to teach Jackson Dart. Know they
[6:00] Speaker 3: are focused on shoring up that offensive line. It may
[6:04] Speaker 3: be more than a one year project. It played a
[6:06] Speaker 3: little bit better last season, but certainly it has a
[6:09] Speaker 3: ways to go. Keep an eye on that part of
[6:12] Speaker 3: the draft. What the Giants do in the trenches.
[6:15] Speaker 2: Say, What's going to be interesting to me is do
[6:17] Speaker 2: they get another weapon for Jackson guard? And I think
[6:20] Speaker 2: what the Giants tried to do was use the last
[6:23] Speaker 2: two or three weeks to really make it so they
[6:26] Speaker 2: could just take the best available player, right, I mean
[6:28] Speaker 2: they still had a need at guard. Maybe a start
[6:30] Speaker 2: of the side Daniel Falley over the last day or
[6:32] Speaker 2: so actually finalized today. Make sure their offensive line can
[6:35] Speaker 2: absolutely need some help, as Judy mentioned.
[6:37] Speaker 6: But doesn't have to have to have someone.
[6:40] Speaker 2: And you know, I would say this, like, if they're
[6:43] Speaker 2: going to be looking you know they're going to be
[6:44] Speaker 2: at number five, they're going to be looking at some
[6:47] Speaker 2: interesting options. I at Caleb Downs, I think on defense
[6:50] Speaker 2: would be an interesting one if one of the edd
[6:52] Speaker 2: Dressers falls there. What about Carnel Tate? What about the
[6:55] Speaker 2: Ohio State receiver? To me, feels like maybe you guys
[6:59] Speaker 2: correct me, I'm wrong, but feels like they get Sensus
[7:01] Speaker 2: top receiver on the board, didn't run as great as
[7:04] Speaker 2: he wanted on the combine.
[7:05] Speaker 6: I don't really get the sense of teams cared about that.
[7:08] Speaker 2: Could they use this premium pick to get one of
[7:11] Speaker 2: the premier players in the draft and give Jackson Dart
[7:14] Speaker 2: a key weapon even after taking the receivers early over
[7:17] Speaker 2: the last couple of years. I think they could, and
[7:19] Speaker 2: certainly that is something to watch for on Thursday Night.
[7:22] Speaker 1: Part of the question with those wide receivers is going
[7:24] Speaker 1: to be the positional value relative to the other guys
[7:26] Speaker 1: on the board. I have not gotten the consensus that
[7:28] Speaker 1: there's a clear this guy's definitely a top five, top
[7:31] Speaker 1: ten worthy wide receiver. But if that's what you need
[7:34] Speaker 1: and you think that he is, specially in terms of
[7:36] Speaker 1: being that much different than the other guys, certainly a
[7:38] Speaker 1: consideration here. It's gonna be fascinating to watch it play
[7:41] Speaker 1: out on Draft Day. Not many bigger stories in the
[7:43] Speaker 1: draft last year other than Shador Sanders than Travis Hunter,
[7:47] Speaker 1: the bold trade up by the Jaguars to go get
[7:50] Speaker 1: the dual threat from his Sanders college teammate at Colorado,
[7:55] Speaker 1: Travis Hunter suffering an injury. This year, rookie Seson never
[7:58] Speaker 1: really got off the ground. Here's what James Gladstone said
[8:01] Speaker 1: about last year's and this year's first round pick.
[8:04] Speaker 2: Yeah, he'll be in for all intensive purposes, a limited
[8:07] Speaker 2: participant throughout the offseason program, with the eyes on return
[8:10] Speaker 2: to play at full tick in training camp.
[8:14] Speaker 1: So when you invest in a player like this ian,
[8:17] Speaker 1: you do it for a variety of different reasons. And
[8:19] Speaker 1: the Jaguars case, part of the value was we're getting
[8:21] Speaker 1: a top wide receiver and a top quarter and he
[8:24] Speaker 1: never really fully became that player on either side of
[8:27] Speaker 1: the ball prior to the injury. Based on what you know,
[8:30] Speaker 1: where is Travis Hunter in his recovery and how do
[8:33] Speaker 1: they fit into the bigger picture where the Jaguars go
[8:35] Speaker 1: from here. After a successful first season for Gladstone and
[8:37] Speaker 1: Liam Cole, Yeah, we'll.
[8:38] Speaker 2: Start time with the health part of it. Does seem
[8:40] Speaker 2: like Travis Hunter is doing exceptionally well. From that LCL
[8:43] Speaker 2: taire he has been running, he is doing well. He's
[8:46] Speaker 2: not going to be, as they mentioned, a full participant
[8:47] Speaker 2: in OTAs, but they.
[8:48] Speaker 6: Really do believe he will be full by training camp.
[8:51] Speaker 2: But when he comes back, and this is something that
[8:53] Speaker 2: our cam Wolf has told us over the last several weeks,
[8:55] Speaker 2: they expect him to be a full time corner, part
[8:58] Speaker 2: time receiver, which when you talk the teams last year.
[9:01] Speaker 2: That probably was where they thought the value wasn't really
[9:04] Speaker 2: where they thought.
[9:05] Speaker 6: The production reies.
[9:06] Speaker 2: So maybe this coming year we're going to get to
[9:08] Speaker 2: see the player that they drafted that they traded up
[9:11] Speaker 2: for last year because of that trade, Judy.
[9:14] Speaker 6: They also don't have.
[9:15] Speaker 2: A first round, so if they're going to improve the team,
[9:16] Speaker 2: it's going to be fifty six overall. But what really
[9:20] Speaker 2: stuck out to me this offseason about the Jaguars there
[9:23] Speaker 2: was no desperation.
[9:24] Speaker 6: They barely added guys.
[9:26] Speaker 2: They were more of a collect compick mode. Let Travis
[9:30] Speaker 2: atn go, let some of their guys go, let other
[9:32] Speaker 2: people pay for.
[9:33] Speaker 6: Them collect compicks.
[9:34] Speaker 2: That says to me, they believe one they're already good
[9:38] Speaker 2: enough to start planning for the future too. They don't
[9:40] Speaker 2: need to go get anything. Sets up really really well
[9:44] Speaker 2: for them draft wise because they can just take the
[9:46] Speaker 2: best player.
[9:46] Speaker 1: Travis Hunter.
[9:47] Speaker 3: To me, this almost feels like a bonus draft pick
[9:49] Speaker 3: this year because we saw so little of him last
[9:52] Speaker 3: year before he got hurt. This sort of feels like
[9:55] Speaker 3: an extra pick this year, and we know it's mostly
[9:57] Speaker 3: going to be at cornerback when he gets back on
[9:59] Speaker 3: the the Jaguars suffered some loss of personnel during free agency.
[10:04] Speaker 3: Devin Lloyd, Greg Newsom, you mentioned Travis Aten, So getting
[10:08] Speaker 3: somebody like Travis Hunter back, they could use that kind
[10:12] Speaker 3: of boost, and they could use that kind of injection
[10:14] Speaker 3: on the defense, that injection of high level talent. They
[10:18] Speaker 3: need an infusion there. As you pointed out, they don't
[10:22] Speaker 3: have a first round draft pick, so if they are
[10:24] Speaker 3: going to further shore up that roster, it's going to
[10:27] Speaker 3: have to come later. But so much of the focus
[10:30] Speaker 3: is going to be on Travis Hunter because we just
[10:32] Speaker 3: didn't see him be the two way star we all
[10:35] Speaker 3: thought he was going to be, And it seems like
[10:37] Speaker 3: now going forward, they are going to focus most of
[10:40] Speaker 3: their efforts on the defensive side of the ball.
[10:43] Speaker 5: For him.
[10:43] Speaker 3: That may be great in the long run, and I
[10:46] Speaker 3: think it's certainly what will benefit a defense that again
[10:49] Speaker 3: lost a few key players this offseason.
[10:51] Speaker 1: I mentioned that there may not be that surefire top
[10:54] Speaker 1: five type receiver in this draft. Maybe the most talented
[10:57] Speaker 1: guy is Jordan Tyson from Arizona's. Now there's been some
[11:01] Speaker 1: ups and downs in his game, also done with a
[11:02] Speaker 1: hamstring injury during the pre draft process. As ESPN report
[11:05] Speaker 1: earlier today. He's going to hold his own individual workout
[11:08] Speaker 1: day for NFL teams on Friday, April seventeenth, that is
[11:12] Speaker 1: just six days before the first round of the draft.
[11:16] Speaker 1: Francis Malui Noah, one of the top offensive linemen, had
[11:19] Speaker 1: his combine recheck today and according to our buddy Mike Garifolo,
[11:23] Speaker 1: checking in from a beach in Puerto Rico, everything came
[11:25] Speaker 1: back well as far as we know. Again, one of
[11:29] Speaker 1: the top prospects in the draft. Medical one of the
[11:31] Speaker 1: last things a lot of teams go through in this process.
[11:35] Speaker 1: Certainly that is part of the equation, not just from Malioa,
[11:37] Speaker 1: but others as well as we bring in our lands
[11:40] Speaker 1: zerline Lands tell me on both sides, this's what you've
[11:42] Speaker 1: heard on Maluinoa, how people are looking at that injury
[11:45] Speaker 1: and just what he is in terms of the quality
[11:48] Speaker 1: of a prospect.
[11:48] Speaker 7: Yeah, to start with, I have not heard any major concerns.
[11:52] Speaker 7: So whatever he had rechecked in terms of the considerations,
[11:56] Speaker 7: I don't think it's going to have any impact on
[11:58] Speaker 7: his standing.
[11:59] Speaker 8: You know.
[11:59] Speaker 7: The only thing that could have impact on his standing
[12:01] Speaker 7: in terms of if he were to fall just a
[12:03] Speaker 7: little bit would be the questions about whether or not
[12:06] Speaker 7: he's a right tackle or if he's a guard. He's
[12:08] Speaker 7: got thirty three inch arms. There are times you watch
[12:10] Speaker 7: and you think, boy, that looks like a pro Bowl guard.
[12:12] Speaker 7: But we know teams always will air on the side
[12:16] Speaker 7: of drafting the tackle rather than the guards. So I think,
[12:19] Speaker 7: I think what you're going to see is one of
[12:21] Speaker 7: the safest offensive linemen in this draft. Go inside the
[12:24] Speaker 7: first eight to nine picks, but my guess it'll be
[12:26] Speaker 7: closer to the top six picks. And I don't think
[12:28] Speaker 7: any of these injury issues and rechecks are going to
[12:31] Speaker 7: have any consideration on draft day.
[12:33] Speaker 1: All right, let's let's get to some of the teams
[12:36] Speaker 1: and have some pressure on their picks. They need to rebuild.
[12:39] Speaker 1: It a bunch of teams with two first round picks,
[12:41] Speaker 1: that includes the Jets. Take me inside from your perspective,
[12:44] Speaker 1: their needs and what they might try to accomplish here
[12:46] Speaker 1: in this draft. You know, the Jets.
[12:48] Speaker 7: Really need rush, but they need a lot. I mean,
[12:51] Speaker 7: there's a lot the Jets need. So what they need
[12:52] Speaker 7: to do is draft the best player, the most impactful
[12:55] Speaker 7: player long term they can find. And it's interesting because
[12:58] Speaker 7: I think they've got a lot of pressure because if
[13:00] Speaker 7: they draft Bailey and the freaky rvel Reas ends up
[13:04] Speaker 7: becoming the big time player in the Michael Parsons two
[13:06] Speaker 7: point zero boy, that's you know, it looks bad for
[13:09] Speaker 7: the rest of the you know, for the duration you
[13:11] Speaker 7: remember that way, if you draft the guy who doesn't
[13:14] Speaker 7: really have a set position yet Reese and Bailey's guy
[13:17] Speaker 7: that goes off as a pass rusher, that's a problem.
[13:20] Speaker 7: But it also it really spans beyond that. You're setting
[13:23] Speaker 7: yourself for next year's quarterback draft, which is what they're
[13:26] Speaker 7: going to do. So they need to feather that nest.
[13:28] Speaker 7: They need to do some nesting on that roster to
[13:31] Speaker 7: get ready for their their quarterback that they're going to
[13:33] Speaker 7: probably bring home next year. Now, I'll tell you another
[13:36] Speaker 7: team to Cleveland Browns. And anytime you have two picks
[13:38] Speaker 7: in the first round. We know the Cleveland Browns have
[13:40] Speaker 7: screwed that up in the past. Not this particular brand
[13:44] Speaker 7: of Cleveland Browns, but that has been an issue in
[13:46] Speaker 7: past drafts. When you have two drafts, you have a
[13:48] Speaker 7: chance to hit home runs or to be looked at
[13:50] Speaker 7: and scoffed at. In years, you know, in the future.
[13:53] Speaker 7: They've got pick number six. It's not the cleanest number
[13:56] Speaker 7: in this draft. I think six is a tricky position
[13:59] Speaker 7: based on the way the lies, but they have several
[14:02] Speaker 7: needs they must fix, and I think six has to
[14:05] Speaker 7: be a hit. You go all the way to twenty four.
[14:07] Speaker 7: There's a chance to address left tackle potentially if you
[14:10] Speaker 7: don't do it at number six, which might be a
[14:11] Speaker 7: little early, but you also have so many needs on
[14:14] Speaker 7: this roster that to me, this is something that you
[14:17] Speaker 7: have to hit at least to double this year on
[14:19] Speaker 7: your first two picks. And it's tough because it's not
[14:22] Speaker 7: the deepest draft that we've seen in the first round.
[14:24] Speaker 3: Right, Let's stick in the AFC North with the Baltimore Ravens.
[14:28] Speaker 3: They have eleven picks. There's an awful lot new in Baltimore.
[14:31] Speaker 3: Which way do you see them going?
[14:32] Speaker 7: Yeah, you know they have eleven picks. Four of them
[14:35] Speaker 7: are in the fifth round, so obviously you know they're
[14:37] Speaker 7: going to probably use that to wheel and deal and
[14:39] Speaker 7: move around. But when you talk about the Ravens, they
[14:43] Speaker 7: need to reassert themselves as the AFC's king of the North,
[14:47] Speaker 7: so to speak. And to do that, I think you're
[14:49] Speaker 7: going to have to find the right player on the
[14:52] Speaker 7: offensive side of the ball that helps to elevate that offense.
[14:55] Speaker 7: Once again, everything they do I think needs to be
[14:57] Speaker 7: complimentary towards towards your quarterback Lamar Jackson. Now, could they
[15:02] Speaker 7: go with an offensive lineman that's the that's the steady pick,
[15:05] Speaker 7: or could you go with Kenyon sadik as the explosive
[15:08] Speaker 7: tight end. So getting that first pick right, I think
[15:11] Speaker 7: is going to be very very important. And then the Saints,
[15:13] Speaker 7: speaking of getting the first pick right, and they have
[15:15] Speaker 7: three first they have three picks inside the top one hundred.
[15:18] Speaker 7: We know that, but you know they've got a good
[15:20] Speaker 7: young quarterback in Tyler Shuck. He was surprising to a
[15:23] Speaker 7: lot of people that were shocked he got drafted where
[15:25] Speaker 7: he did and then shocked that he played so well,
[15:28] Speaker 7: what are you going to do to help him?
[15:29] Speaker 4: That is a really.
[15:30] Speaker 7: Soft wide receiving core over there. Chris Olave needs help.
[15:34] Speaker 7: Tyler Shuck needs another weapon so that he can take
[15:37] Speaker 7: that next step in his growth. So I think finding
[15:40] Speaker 7: the right wide receiver at eight is going to be
[15:43] Speaker 7: critical for the same take and go in other directions.
[15:45] Speaker 7: But they need to find a wide receiver that comes
[15:47] Speaker 7: in and plays right away in this draft, Lance.
[15:50] Speaker 1: Great stuff. Do not move more from you in just
[15:52] Speaker 1: a little bit.
[15:53] Speaker 6: That is a list of our friend.
[15:55] Speaker 2: Bucky Brooks is top five safety prospects in the twenty
[15:59] Speaker 2: twenty six ANEL draft, which is fast approaching.
[16:01] Speaker 6: Caleb Down from Ohio State.
[16:03] Speaker 2: We know Kyle Lewis at number two from Pitt we
[16:07] Speaker 2: don't know quite as well. So we're going to get
[16:10] Speaker 2: to know him here on the Insiders. But before we do,
[16:13] Speaker 2: I'm going to bring in our buddy land zero Line,
[16:16] Speaker 2: our draft expert, to see if Lance can do us
[16:19] Speaker 2: a little favor. We'll look at that number two here.
[16:21] Speaker 2: Lance tell us about Kyle lewis.
[16:25] Speaker 7: Explosive downhill player. It's about speed, it's about versatility. He
[16:28] Speaker 7: could get into space and zone coverage, drop and hunt
[16:32] Speaker 7: the football. He can take it away six tough interceptions
[16:35] Speaker 7: the last couple of years. He can carry players vertically.
[16:37] Speaker 7: This is important because you can match them on tight ends,
[16:40] Speaker 7: you can match him on running backs, you can match
[16:41] Speaker 7: them on wide receivers. And then the speed. Look he's
[16:45] Speaker 7: getting a quarterback that's light work. Watching him get sidelined
[16:49] Speaker 7: to sideline is where he really shines and here's the
[16:51] Speaker 7: man himself, one of the fastest. I call him a linebacker.
[16:56] Speaker 7: He was number two on Bucky's safety list.
[16:59] Speaker 6: I call him a line are you Yeah?
[17:01] Speaker 2: So, Kyle, First of all, we want to get to
[17:02] Speaker 2: all this, including what position you actually play, if you
[17:05] Speaker 2: want to pigeonhole yourself, or how you want to end it.
[17:07] Speaker 2: But we'll get to that in a second. You heard
[17:09] Speaker 2: Lances breakdown of your play.
[17:12] Speaker 6: What do you think? What did he miss?
[17:15] Speaker 9: I feel like he said it all already, Like I
[17:16] Speaker 9: used my speed for my advantage. I use my versatility
[17:19] Speaker 9: for my advantage, and I just played a crassive I'm
[17:21] Speaker 9: trying to make play.
[17:22] Speaker 4: I'm trying to get the balls as best as I can.
[17:24] Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean versatility. You had one hundred and eighty
[17:26] Speaker 7: two tackles over the last two years. You had uh
[17:29] Speaker 7: I think it was twenty four. I believe on on
[17:32] Speaker 7: UH we're tackles for losses. You had ten sacks and
[17:36] Speaker 7: you had six interceptions. So you're making plays on their
[17:39] Speaker 7: side of the line of scrimmage. You're making plays right
[17:41] Speaker 7: at the line of scrimmage, and then you're making plays
[17:44] Speaker 7: on the second level. It gets to the versatility. What's
[17:47] Speaker 7: your mindset when you're out on the field in terms
[17:49] Speaker 7: of how you want to attack the football, because that's
[17:52] Speaker 7: a lot of production on three levels.
[17:54] Speaker 9: Yeah, so it's just not playing. It's a four to
[17:56] Speaker 9: three system. We real strict on that, and I'm the star.
[17:58] Speaker 9: So but being this, you got to be in the
[18:01] Speaker 9: past coverage, you got to be in the run gaps,
[18:03] Speaker 9: and you got.
[18:03] Speaker 4: To be in the blitzing scheme.
[18:04] Speaker 9: So I just got to be there for everything, and
[18:06] Speaker 9: I always got to step up and coach call.
[18:08] Speaker 2: My name, starking me a really really challenging role to
[18:11] Speaker 2: play on any defense. We were talking as you came in.
[18:14] Speaker 2: Are your safety? Are you a linebacker? Are you a
[18:17] Speaker 2: nickel defender? You've been on I'm sure plenty of zooms
[18:20] Speaker 2: with teams. You've had these conversations, where do you want
[18:23] Speaker 2: to play in the NFL?
[18:25] Speaker 9: I want to play and will linebacker, and I want
[18:27] Speaker 9: to play a big nickel and whatever you want to
[18:29] Speaker 9: call me.
[18:29] Speaker 4: Right now, all I know is I'm a ballplayer.
[18:31] Speaker 9: So I'm prepare for whatever position that coach got me in,
[18:34] Speaker 9: whatever system. All these coaches got me at different spots,
[18:37] Speaker 9: and I respect it and I'm just ready to get
[18:40] Speaker 9: to the next step show case.
[18:41] Speaker 4: I could play ball.
[18:42] Speaker 7: Yeah, your team captain, bigger energy guy on the field
[18:45] Speaker 7: watching you on tape, I mean that pops out right away,
[18:48] Speaker 7: There's no question. Pat Arduzi, your head coach, talked about
[18:51] Speaker 7: how you eat film, right, you're a film junkie. I
[18:53] Speaker 7: want you to give us an example of something that
[18:55] Speaker 7: you saw on tape this year where you said, aha,
[18:58] Speaker 7: I got you, and that you you used on Saturday,
[19:01] Speaker 7: an example of the way that you took the film
[19:04] Speaker 7: and made plays on Saturday. From that, what can you
[19:06] Speaker 7: remember that you did this year?
[19:07] Speaker 4: Yeah, showed one of the plays is West Virginia. West Virginia.
[19:11] Speaker 9: It was a lot of a lot of heavy run
[19:13] Speaker 9: team and then they like to do a lot of
[19:14] Speaker 9: flash protection to react off the run team and get
[19:17] Speaker 9: the linebackers downhill. So I just reacted fast off that
[19:20] Speaker 9: and off the flash protection and got full verts and
[19:23] Speaker 9: full verse with the option of the rob receiver doing
[19:25] Speaker 9: a comeback.
[19:25] Speaker 4: So I just underclid to comeback.
[19:27] Speaker 9: I should returned the four pick six, but I got
[19:30] Speaker 9: the fake though, talk my jersey.
[19:32] Speaker 2: I mean getting the pick is the number one thing,
[19:35] Speaker 2: the pick six, taking them to the crib that's that's
[19:38] Speaker 2: sort of the little extra you'll be forgiven for that.
[19:40] Speaker 2: But sweet play and certainly a example of why you
[19:44] Speaker 2: are the playmaker that you know a lot of people
[19:47] Speaker 2: expect to go off in the first two days of
[19:49] Speaker 2: this draft. I wanted to ask you about the draft.
[19:52] Speaker 2: You're a Pittsburgh guy. Pittsburgh guy. Now the draft is
[19:55] Speaker 2: in Pittsburgh. We'll see where you end up going. But
[19:58] Speaker 2: what are your draft plans? And every year there's always
[20:02] Speaker 2: a couple of guys who make their way to the
[20:04] Speaker 2: draft and then on stage, even if it's not necessarily
[20:07] Speaker 2: night one, do you have any plans to you know,
[20:10] Speaker 2: stick around just in case.
[20:11] Speaker 9: I love Pittsburgh, but definitely going to be in Jersey.
[20:14] Speaker 9: So love to the family is I don't really get
[20:16] Speaker 9: that much time to be with the family, so definitely
[20:19] Speaker 9: be here so love this family and get great experience
[20:22] Speaker 9: with the family.
[20:22] Speaker 7: How do you think that's gonna go when they hear
[20:24] Speaker 7: when you hear your name called, you have family around you.
[20:28] Speaker 7: I know you thought about it. You've watched the NFL
[20:30] Speaker 7: draft in the past. If you envision what that's gonna
[20:32] Speaker 7: be like in your own living room and your own
[20:34] Speaker 7: with your own family around. What's that going to be
[20:36] Speaker 7: like for you?
[20:36] Speaker 4: Man?
[20:36] Speaker 9: My family going to show out for the camera. But
[20:40] Speaker 9: it's all gonna be good. It's gonna be love. I
[20:42] Speaker 9: just can't wait.
[20:43] Speaker 7: We're gonna be watching. I can't wait to watch and
[20:46] Speaker 7: see what the family looks like on Draft Day. It'll
[20:48] Speaker 7: be second round, by the way, he'll be out with
[20:50] Speaker 7: there you go.
[20:51] Speaker 2: I mean, that's one of my favorite things is watching
[20:52] Speaker 2: which family member tries to get like front and center
[20:55] Speaker 2: and they're like, none, his time.
[20:57] Speaker 6: Let him go. And then you're on the phone and
[20:59] Speaker 6: they're like.
[21:01] Speaker 2: I can't hear. So that scenario right there. Look, I
[21:04] Speaker 2: don't know. Well, I guess I'll ask you how long
[21:07] Speaker 2: did you know that having your name called the NFL
[21:12] Speaker 2: Draft was a possibility? And how much have you thought
[21:14] Speaker 2: about like that actual scene, you know, really coming true?
[21:18] Speaker 4: Since I stepped on Pittsburgh my first name.
[21:21] Speaker 9: That coach Doozy asked me when I was on official visitors,
[21:24] Speaker 9: what's your plans? Like, I'm just telling him I want
[21:26] Speaker 9: to go to the league and want to go to
[21:27] Speaker 9: the NFL. He told me that's it, and then he
[21:29] Speaker 9: opened my eyes. He like you got you got, Like
[21:32] Speaker 9: that's the bear.
[21:33] Speaker 4: Standard for you. You got so much more you could do.
[21:36] Speaker 9: And basically, like he was just telling, like, you gotta
[21:39] Speaker 9: be going specific with your goals. So when I tell
[21:41] Speaker 9: hometong go first round and that's when my goals started
[21:44] Speaker 9: to getting more actable.
[21:45] Speaker 7: Yeah, how much have you grown since you've been I
[21:48] Speaker 7: know you want to state championship in high school, so
[21:50] Speaker 7: you have that in your background. How much have you
[21:52] Speaker 7: grown since you've been with coach Mardozy and that defensive
[21:56] Speaker 7: staff over there, and from the time you came in
[21:59] Speaker 7: to the time you're talking to right now?
[22:00] Speaker 9: Oh, Matt, can't I measure how much I've grown? I've
[22:03] Speaker 9: grown so much in terms of just learning football because,
[22:07] Speaker 9: like you said, being a film junkie and going to
[22:10] Speaker 9: the fan room every morning before practice, at the practice
[22:13] Speaker 9: and just non stop twenty four to seven.
[22:15] Speaker 4: It just growed me every time.
[22:16] Speaker 9: So shout out to coach Doocie, Shots, Coach Many, all
[22:19] Speaker 9: the coaches that helped me get better and better with football.
[22:22] Speaker 6: A lot of people helped you get to where you're going.
[22:24] Speaker 2: Are going to be extremely excited in a couple of
[22:27] Speaker 2: weeks in Pittsburgh while you'll be in Jersey. God thank
[22:30] Speaker 2: you very much for joining us on the Insiders. Great
[22:32] Speaker 2: stuff and good luck over the next several weeks just
[22:36] Speaker 2: getting through it and enjoin it a little bit as well.
[22:38] Speaker 4: Yeah, I got y'all. Appreciate y'all.
[22:40] Speaker 2: I'll be looking for his family members when his name
[22:42] Speaker 2: is called. Can't wait for that one. This guy's name
[22:44] Speaker 2: will get called pretty early. That is for random windows
[22:47] Speaker 2: of the future starting quarterback of the Raiders. But when,
[22:50] Speaker 2: because that other guy also might play quarterback, we're going
[22:53] Speaker 2: to get into the Raiders with Omar and Baldi coming
[22:56] Speaker 2: up next.
[22:56] Speaker 3: On the Insiders, there's Kirk Cousins signing his contract with
[23:02] Speaker 3: the Las Vegas Raiders, where he is expected to be
[23:05] Speaker 3: joined by another quarterback in about two weeks or so,
[23:08] Speaker 3: one he might wind up mentoring. Here's Cousins on the
[23:11] Speaker 3: presumptive number one pick, Fernando Mendoza.
[23:15] Speaker 10: I think, honestly, I don't want to start unless I'm
[23:18] Speaker 10: the best option. So and I told you know, Clint
[23:20] Speaker 10: that best players should play. But certainly as long as
[23:26] Speaker 10: that's the case, you know, I have no qualms with
[23:28] Speaker 10: however it plays out. But I do think Fernando is
[23:30] Speaker 10: going to be a great addition to our team. I
[23:32] Speaker 10: think he's going to have a great future in the league.
[23:35] Speaker 10: You know, I have no problem, you know, being a
[23:37] Speaker 10: voice in the room to kind of help him the
[23:39] Speaker 10: degree that I can. He's gonna have great support all
[23:41] Speaker 10: around him, from the coaching staff or to the degree
[23:42] Speaker 10: that you know, being able to watch a veteran quarterback,
[23:45] Speaker 10: you know, go through his habits and routines and process.
[23:48] Speaker 10: I think, you know, that could be a great asset
[23:50] Speaker 10: for him. And he was here yesterday in his draft
[23:52] Speaker 10: day visit. Were able to watch film together, so you know,
[23:55] Speaker 10: I think he'll he'll be a great addition to the room.
[23:57] Speaker 10: And I was even telling him how much success he
[24:00] Speaker 10: had thrown back shoulders at IU that I'd like to
[24:02] Speaker 10: learn a little bit from him on how to throw
[24:04] Speaker 10: a good back shoulders.
[24:04] Speaker 4: So it'll be a noisy quarterback room.
[24:06] Speaker 10: We'll all be helping each other and we'll all be
[24:08] Speaker 10: pulling in the same direction, one.
[24:11] Speaker 3: Big, happy family. Let's bring in our Omar Rees and
[24:14] Speaker 3: Brian Baldinger.
[24:15] Speaker 1: They know the raiders up and down. Amore take it away, hey.
[24:19] Speaker 6: Judy Baldy.
[24:20] Speaker 11: I think one of the takeaways when Kirk Cousins was
[24:22] Speaker 11: introduced to the media yesterday was him citing Al Davis's quote,
[24:27] Speaker 11: the greatness of the Raiders lies.
[24:29] Speaker 6: In its future, and of course the future.
[24:32] Speaker 11: All indications are that Fernando Mendoza is going to be
[24:35] Speaker 11: joining Kirk Cousins in that quarterback room. We've had a
[24:38] Speaker 11: lot of discussion about how Kirk cousins presence as a
[24:41] Speaker 11: veteran mentor could help Fernando Mendoza's development, him learning the paybook,
[24:46] Speaker 11: and I think specifically because of Cousins his relationship with
[24:49] Speaker 11: Clint Kubiak. Of course, they worked for three years together
[24:52] Speaker 11: in Minnesota. Twice. Clink Kubiak was the quarterback coach for
[24:57] Speaker 11: Kirk Cousins in nineteen and in twenty and then he
[24:59] Speaker 11: was this play caller in twenty twenty one as offensive
[25:03] Speaker 11: coordinator in Mike Zimmer's last year there. So Kirk Cousins
[25:06] Speaker 11: knows how the offense is meant to look, he knows
[25:09] Speaker 11: how good it can be. But in the last four years,
[25:13] Speaker 11: Clink Kubiak's been at different spots.
[25:15] Speaker 1: He went to Denver, picks up.
[25:16] Speaker 11: Some things from Nathaniel Hackett, how he worked with Aaron Rodgers,
[25:20] Speaker 11: and he went with Kyle Shanahan to the San Francisco
[25:22] Speaker 11: forty nine ers and of course the New Orleans Saints
[25:25] Speaker 11: and last year wins the Super Bowl with the Seahawks.
[25:27] Speaker 11: So because the offense has evolved and changed to the point,
[25:31] Speaker 11: like Kirk Cousins mentioned, the way all good coaches do.
[25:34] Speaker 11: With Kubiak, Cousins says, he's going to learn this offense
[25:38] Speaker 11: from the ground up like a rookie would. So if
[25:41] Speaker 11: and when Mendoza comes into the building, comes into the
[25:44] Speaker 11: quarterback room, he'll be able to teach it from.
[25:46] Speaker 1: The ground up the way he's learning it right now.
[25:48] Speaker 12: And I think Clink Kubiak in the organization has to
[25:51] Speaker 12: have a plan for Mendoza to start. And that means,
[25:55] Speaker 12: you know, whether it's splitting reps appropriately or preseason game
[26:00] Speaker 12: or scrimmages where he gets a chance, because if he's ready,
[26:03] Speaker 12: like Kirk said, if he's ready and he's ready to
[26:06] Speaker 12: go week one, that he's got to be out there.
[26:07] Speaker 12: Otherwise Kirk Cousins is stealing reps. But if Kirk Cousins
[26:11] Speaker 12: is the best option for the team, and you can
[26:13] Speaker 12: never lie to the team o more well, if he
[26:15] Speaker 12: is the best option for the team to win Week one, okay,
[26:18] Speaker 12: then You've got an experienced player right there, a guy
[26:20] Speaker 12: that finished very strong last year in Atlanta and looked
[26:23] Speaker 12: like Kirk Cousins in some of those games in the
[26:26] Speaker 12: final month. But I think you've got to have the
[26:28] Speaker 12: plan for Fernando to be the starter until you just
[26:32] Speaker 12: see that Kirk is just further along.
[26:34] Speaker 11: And you mentioned the team. Clint Kubiak spoke to the
[26:37] Speaker 11: team this week. Obviously they're in the building now with
[26:39] Speaker 11: the offseason program, and Kirk Cousin's saying that is what
[26:42] Speaker 11: Clint Kubiak preached.
[26:44] Speaker 6: It is team first.
[26:45] Speaker 11: He wants them to have a shocking effort, but everything
[26:47] Speaker 11: is about the team. And Kirk Cousins saying the best
[26:50] Speaker 11: quarterback rooms that he's been.
[26:51] Speaker 1: A part of have led to his best seasons.
[26:54] Speaker 4: Now.
[26:54] Speaker 11: Whether he is on the field to play at a
[26:57] Speaker 11: high level still remains to be seen, but it's sounds
[27:00] Speaker 11: like he is more than willing to mentor Fernando Mendoza
[27:05] Speaker 11: and have that harmonious relationship as they get this offense
[27:08] Speaker 11: established under Klint Kubie.
[27:09] Speaker 12: You know, I was really impressed when they brought in
[27:11] Speaker 12: Rick Dennison to be the offensive line coach. Joe Decamills
[27:14] Speaker 12: to be the special teams coach because they have to
[27:16] Speaker 12: get Ashton Genty going like he really struggled last year.
[27:19] Speaker 12: He had two big games, a lot of games where
[27:22] Speaker 12: he was just avoiding contact just to get to the
[27:24] Speaker 12: line of scrimmage. But I think Rick Dennison understands the
[27:28] Speaker 12: zone blocking scheme. They've got a couple of new offensive
[27:30] Speaker 12: linemen that they've picked up in free agency. Will probably
[27:33] Speaker 12: look forward to the draft. I'm sure they're going to
[27:35] Speaker 12: spend some of their picks on offensive linemen. They've got
[27:37] Speaker 12: to get the best five guys up there. But I
[27:39] Speaker 12: think Rick Dennison coaching this system, and it is a
[27:42] Speaker 12: system going back to Mike Shanahan in Denver. I'm anxious
[27:45] Speaker 12: to see Ashton Genty's contribution this year and if he
[27:48] Speaker 12: makes that sophomore leap that we expect from him.
[27:51] Speaker 11: We talked about the scheme, Judy, we talked about the playbook,
[27:53] Speaker 11: but also Kirk kuzz has that experience.
[27:55] Speaker 6: Obviously.
[27:56] Speaker 11: They brought in Michael Pennix Junior a couple of years
[27:58] Speaker 11: ago in Atlanta, so saw what that looked like. He
[28:01] Speaker 11: was a part of the Washington franchise when they took
[28:05] Speaker 11: RG three as the number two pick, so we know
[28:07] Speaker 11: is what it looks like when a quarterback comes into
[28:08] Speaker 11: his rookie year, all the pressure to help Mendoza out
[28:12] Speaker 11: as well.
[28:12] Speaker 1: For that, guys, thank you.
[28:13] Speaker 3: We should also point out, Omar, you are going to
[28:15] Speaker 3: be with the Raiders for the drafts, that we are
[28:17] Speaker 3: going to be hearing a lot more from you about
[28:20] Speaker 3: Fernando Mendoza and all things Raiders, and we're going to
[28:23] Speaker 3: be hearing a lot more from Baldy.
[28:24] Speaker 1: Fourteen days away, the NFL Draft kicks off in the
[28:29] Speaker 1: city of Pittsburgh, April twenty third, live here on NFL Network,
[28:34] Speaker 1: ESPN and beyond. Cannot wait for that, cannot wait to
[28:38] Speaker 1: talk once again with our guy Brian Baldinger here on
[28:41] Speaker 1: The Insiders with me Tom Peliserah, let's take it into
[28:43] Speaker 1: the running backs a little bit here, Baldy. So we
[28:45] Speaker 1: talked a ton about the Notre Dame guys. Jeremiah Loves
[28:48] Speaker 1: going to be a top ten pick. Jenerian Price might
[28:50] Speaker 1: not go out of the first round either. Once you
[28:52] Speaker 1: get past those guys, tell me about some of those
[28:54] Speaker 1: other running backs that intrigue as we get into Day two, Tom,
[28:57] Speaker 1: the moment I stepped on the field and Senior Bowl.
[28:59] Speaker 12: This year, I had a town scout saying that Mike
[29:02] Speaker 12: Washington junior is the best running back at the Senior Bowl,
[29:06] Speaker 12: and he might be the best running back in the draft.
[29:07] Speaker 12: And then he went to the combine and he ran
[29:09] Speaker 12: a four three three forty at two hundred and twenty
[29:12] Speaker 12: five pounds, Like.
[29:13] Speaker 1: You just see, that's what he is. He's a bruiser
[29:15] Speaker 1: with breakaway speed. He's a big back.
[29:18] Speaker 12: You know, he went to the University of Buffalo, he's
[29:19] Speaker 12: at New Mexico, but when he got to Arkansas he
[29:22] Speaker 12: put it all together. And this is a guy that
[29:26] Speaker 12: can make guys miss. But he's got that home run
[29:28] Speaker 12: hitting speed to him, and you get him to the
[29:31] Speaker 12: open field, he might be a guy that can just
[29:33] Speaker 12: finish finish runs. The next guy is is Emma Johnson
[29:38] Speaker 12: from Nebraska. Three year player at Nebraska. The family story
[29:42] Speaker 12: is amazing. His father, you know, was emigrated to this
[29:45] Speaker 12: country during the Civil War, but he came and he
[29:48] Speaker 12: really lit up Matt rules system.
[29:50] Speaker 1: And I think this.
[29:51] Speaker 12: Year he broke out at almost fifteen hundred yards rushing.
[29:54] Speaker 12: He is a complete player. He can make you miss
[29:57] Speaker 12: in a phone booth like his ability just to put
[29:59] Speaker 12: you in a deep freeze, stop, start, all those kind
[30:02] Speaker 12: of things. He's quicker than fast, but he is got
[30:05] Speaker 12: great vision. He's got all the intangibles you need. This
[30:09] Speaker 12: was his final game against Iowa, which might have been
[30:12] Speaker 12: his best game.
[30:13] Speaker 1: And then finally this demand.
[30:14] Speaker 12: Clayborne from Wake Forest had really a strong final two years.
[30:19] Speaker 12: In fact, Maurice Showings due right here in this network
[30:22] Speaker 12: said he's the second best running back in this entire
[30:24] Speaker 12: draft right now. And so when you look at Demond
[30:27] Speaker 12: Claiborne out of the Wake Force, the Demon Deacons, he
[30:30] Speaker 12: really had two really good seasons together. He's about five
[30:33] Speaker 12: to ten, one hundred and ninety five pounds. Might not
[30:36] Speaker 12: be the pounder that you look for, but.
[30:37] Speaker 1: He's got this.
[30:38] Speaker 12: He's got this contact balance, he's got this ability to
[30:42] Speaker 12: find space and daylight. And he also caught I believe
[30:46] Speaker 12: he caught fifty one passes the last two years. And
[30:48] Speaker 12: everybody's always wondering, can you be a three down back?
[30:51] Speaker 4: Can you catch the screen?
[30:52] Speaker 12: Can you catch the checkdown? He's got that the ability
[30:55] Speaker 12: to stay on the field, make those catches, extend those drives.
[30:59] Speaker 12: I think this is a pretty good running back class.
[31:01] Speaker 12: I think the two Notre Dame backs are really really talented. Obviously,
[31:05] Speaker 12: Jeremiah Love is not going to wait long for his
[31:08] Speaker 12: name to be called, but look for Embittt, Mike Washington
[31:11] Speaker 12: Junior and demand to be called here on day two.
[31:14] Speaker 1: Also might not be the most depth we've had at
[31:16] Speaker 1: the running back position, So if you want to get
[31:17] Speaker 1: one of those guys, you may need to move sooner
[31:20] Speaker 1: than later. Folding, great stuff. As always, we'll talk to
[31:22] Speaker 1: you again soon, Judy.
[31:23] Speaker 3: All right, let's talk some top thirty visits. Usc wide
[31:26] Speaker 3: receiver Makai Lemon among the Steelers pre draft visitors today.
[31:30] Speaker 3: They've already added Michael Pittman to their wide receiver room,
[31:34] Speaker 3: but certainly could use more. How about the Miami Dolphins.
[31:39] Speaker 3: No Jalen Model, no Tyreek Hill, but could they have
[31:42] Speaker 3: Casey Conception own He is making a visit there. They
[31:46] Speaker 3: of course have two picks in the first round. And finally,
[31:51] Speaker 3: the Carolina Panthers, that is a team.
[31:53] Speaker 1: Clearly on the rise.
[31:54] Speaker 3: Denzel Boston is paying them a visit as well. The
[31:59] Speaker 3: Panthers have the number nineteen pick. We're going to switch
[32:03] Speaker 3: over to the other side of the ball because our
[32:05] Speaker 3: friends at path to the draft. Have a lot of
[32:07] Speaker 3: thoughts on where the edge rushers should land, where they
[32:10] Speaker 3: think they will land. Here's Rhett Lewis, Bucky Brooks, and
[32:14] Speaker 3: Cynthia Freeland.
[32:16] Speaker 13: Red Lewis, Bucky Brooks, Cynthia Freeland back here finding some
[32:18] Speaker 13: franchise fits for these d linemen in the green room,
[32:21] Speaker 13: Bucky starting with David Bailey.
[32:24] Speaker 14: Oh this is easy, David Bailey, Ben, come on, get
[32:27] Speaker 14: In't there the player? We want to make sure we
[32:29] Speaker 14: give them somewhere we can have plenty of opportunities to
[32:31] Speaker 14: get after the passer, So we're gonna send them to
[32:34] Speaker 14: the Jets. Jests, Jets jests. I think about Aaron Glenn
[32:37] Speaker 14: trying to replicate what he had worked for successfully for
[32:41] Speaker 14: him in Detroit, had head Aiden Hutcheson, let's get it
[32:44] Speaker 14: dominant pastor.
[32:44] Speaker 4: As you're coming off to edge to set the toe
[32:46] Speaker 4: for this defense.
[32:47] Speaker 1: David Bailey can be that in New York.
[32:49] Speaker 12: Okay, I love that one.
[32:51] Speaker 1: Ruben Bain Junior gree teeth.
[32:54] Speaker 6: I'm like real impressed with his teeth.
[32:55] Speaker 15: I didn't know how good they were, but I'm looking
[32:57] Speaker 15: at him, and then I'm trying to find the Saints.
[32:59] Speaker 2: Where are they read there?
[33:00] Speaker 15: I love the opportunity to put the Saints, who had
[33:04] Speaker 15: the twenty first ranked pressure defense with the guy who
[33:07] Speaker 15: had the most pressures in FBS last year.
[33:09] Speaker 6: That's a I mean, I think.
[33:10] Speaker 1: That'd be a lot of fun match made in Heaven
[33:12] Speaker 1: right there. Top ten pick for Bain. How about now
[33:15] Speaker 1: Keldrick Fock from Auburn here.
[33:18] Speaker 14: Bucky, okay, we can put Keldrick Fault with the New
[33:20] Speaker 14: England Patriots. And if you understand the Patriots and how
[33:24] Speaker 14: they typically get down, they like versatility. They like being
[33:26] Speaker 14: able to change their fronts from four to three to
[33:28] Speaker 14: three four. Well, that takes versatile players to be able
[33:31] Speaker 14: to do that. When I think about his big body
[33:33] Speaker 14: being able to come inside the way he stops to
[33:35] Speaker 14: run like he did for the Auburn Tigers, man, he
[33:38] Speaker 14: has all of those traits that allow him to be
[33:40] Speaker 14: a strong base in and a four to three, a
[33:42] Speaker 14: strong five technique in a three four. I just see
[33:45] Speaker 14: him as a Patriot because of his versatility.
[33:47] Speaker 13: It does fit like the traditional size phototype.
[33:53] Speaker 15: Pounds and like no smile, you're not allowed to smile
[33:56] Speaker 15: on the.
[33:59] Speaker 6: US all business.
[34:00] Speaker 13: Yeah, no fun, sir, Okay, Cayden McDonald has actually been
[34:04] Speaker 13: an intriguing pick that has been mocked to the Patriots
[34:07] Speaker 13: at times here throughout this season when you got a
[34:09] Speaker 13: bone earlier to the Buffalo back, I stop the run?
[34:12] Speaker 15: Anyone want to stop the run? You know the Bills
[34:13] Speaker 15: are changing up their defense. But this is a team
[34:16] Speaker 15: that last year, what was the number one hundred and
[34:18] Speaker 15: thirty six point two rushing yards per game allowed? That's
[34:21] Speaker 15: a lot, Just so we're clear, It's twenty eighth in
[34:23] Speaker 15: the NFL. And this is the guy who had a
[34:25] Speaker 15: ninety one point two PFF run defense grade that was
[34:28] Speaker 15: the best among the position in FBS. So you are
[34:31] Speaker 15: giving them a literal monster in the middle of the
[34:34] Speaker 15: and he's got a smile. You're allowed to smile in Buffalo. Okay,
[34:37] Speaker 15: that's actually I mean ask you know Dean Dawkins, he
[34:39] Speaker 15: smiles a lot, so I think he'd have a lot
[34:41] Speaker 15: of fun out there.
[34:41] Speaker 13: And you know he could play in the cold.
[34:43] Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, I'm into that as well. All right, so
[34:45] Speaker 1: it does make sense.
[34:46] Speaker 4: I like to fit.
[34:47] Speaker 6: It is never too early to drop a little fantasy knowledge.
[34:50] Speaker 2: Let's go inside with the NFL fantasy allowed with our
[34:52] Speaker 2: guy Michael f Florio, So Furio. We got the draft
[34:56] Speaker 2: coming up in two weeks. I want to play a
[34:57] Speaker 2: little game with you. I want to mention a team,
[35:00] Speaker 2: and I want you to tell me the best fantasy
[35:02] Speaker 2: situation for that team. In other words, who am I
[35:05] Speaker 2: going to have to draft next year? All right, We'll
[35:07] Speaker 2: start at number seven with the Washington Commanders.
[35:10] Speaker 7: What do you foresee there?
[35:12] Speaker 8: I think they go out and they get the best
[35:15] Speaker 8: weapon in this year's draft.
[35:17] Speaker 6: In Jeremiah Love at seven overall.
[35:21] Speaker 8: Look, good luck to opposing defenses trying to guard him
[35:25] Speaker 8: and Jaden running the option and Love he lives up
[35:28] Speaker 8: to the billing right, great vision, footwork first, tremendous long speed.
[35:32] Speaker 8: I will very much so be a home run hitter
[35:35] Speaker 8: at the next level. He could catch passes, which you
[35:37] Speaker 8: want from a fantasy running back. The only concern I
[35:41] Speaker 8: have with him is the short yard work, like could
[35:43] Speaker 8: that go to another running back? Kind of like we
[35:45] Speaker 8: saw Tyler Els year take from Bijon Robinson. But my
[35:48] Speaker 8: com for him was a faster Le'Veon bell And if
[35:51] Speaker 8: he ends up here or let's say like Tennessee at
[35:54] Speaker 8: fourth overall, if you want him in fantasy, be prepared
[35:57] Speaker 8: to use an early second round pick, or maybe even
[36:00] Speaker 8: a first like we saw Ashton Gents go for last year.
[36:03] Speaker 2: Yeah, there's no way if he goes that early, which
[36:06] Speaker 2: he probably will, or maybe even earlier, no chance he's
[36:09] Speaker 2: the second round pick that his first round pick all
[36:10] Speaker 2: day long.
[36:11] Speaker 6: What about the New Orleans Saints they pick a number eight.
[36:16] Speaker 6: Are they going defense?
[36:17] Speaker 2: No way, not going defense, because you wouldn't be high
[36:20] Speaker 2: leg and defensive fantasy guy.
[36:21] Speaker 4: No, I would not be.
[36:22] Speaker 1: I'm offense all the time.
[36:24] Speaker 8: I think they take though, my personal wide receiver one,
[36:27] Speaker 8: which is Jordan Tyson out of ASU. When you watch
[36:31] Speaker 8: Tyson play, the size jumps out immediately. He is a
[36:34] Speaker 8: field stretcher, contested catch guy. He can catch anything. The
[36:38] Speaker 8: catch radius is off the charts. But while he could
[36:41] Speaker 8: win downfield the contested catches, I also think he could
[36:44] Speaker 8: win inside.
[36:45] Speaker 4: And after the catch.
[36:46] Speaker 8: I prefer him out wide though he would just give
[36:49] Speaker 8: Tyler Schuck and the Saints a reliable second target.
[36:52] Speaker 1: Him and Olave could move all over the field.
[36:54] Speaker 8: That allows a love to play in the slot, which
[36:56] Speaker 8: is where I think he's at his best. I comped
[36:58] Speaker 8: him to Oldell Beckham Junior, but for fantasy, I think
[37:01] Speaker 8: he would be in the wide receiver three ranks, but
[37:04] Speaker 8: he is the upside in this landing spot to finish
[37:07] Speaker 8: as a top twenty four wide receiver if things were
[37:09] Speaker 8: to break right for him in the Saints.
[37:11] Speaker 2: If the Saints taking the one, that means they won't
[37:13] Speaker 2: take Chris Bell and the third, and all Saints fans
[37:15] Speaker 2: will be angry, But then again, they'll also have a
[37:16] Speaker 2: very good player. What about the Kansas City Chiefs. Their
[37:19] Speaker 2: ride receiver room has been, you know, a challenge the
[37:22] Speaker 2: last couple of years. Where do you see them going?
[37:24] Speaker 8: I think this is a one A, one B type
[37:26] Speaker 8: of class with the wide receivers. So one pick after Tyson,
[37:30] Speaker 8: let's go Carnal Tate to the Chiefs, who, like you said, Ian,
[37:33] Speaker 8: they have really been searching for consistent wide receiver production.
[37:37] Speaker 8: And Tate is an uber, reliable receiver with vice gript hands.
[37:41] Speaker 8: He could work the sideline. Is a field stretcher. The
[37:44] Speaker 8: Chiefs have had receivers who could stretch the fields. They've
[37:46] Speaker 8: had possession receivers, but never all in one package.
[37:50] Speaker 6: And I think he reminded me of.
[37:51] Speaker 8: T Higgins or like a bigger Terry McLaurin, but target
[37:54] Speaker 8: competition in Mahomes' health likesly keeps him as a wide
[37:57] Speaker 8: receiver three. But he could easily see that as the
[38:01] Speaker 8: season went on.
[38:01] Speaker 2: All right, to the Miami Dolphins, the last team I
[38:03] Speaker 2: got for you obviously traded Jalen Model. Everybody. Everybody thinks
[38:07] Speaker 2: they are going receiver at twelve.
[38:09] Speaker 8: What do you think I'm saying wide receiver Makai Lemon,
[38:14] Speaker 8: who I think put good tape out at USC. My
[38:17] Speaker 8: only issue is I think he was used a lot
[38:20] Speaker 8: more limitedly than the other two wide receivers, a lot
[38:23] Speaker 8: of short yard catch and run targets. He did show
[38:27] Speaker 8: he could win downfield when given a chance, but while
[38:29] Speaker 8: watching him, it felt a lot like watching the Bills
[38:32] Speaker 8: us Kalilshakire last year, where you just want some more
[38:34] Speaker 8: downfield stuff. But the Dolphins are the best case landing
[38:37] Speaker 8: spot for him. Tons of volume up for grab. We've
[38:39] Speaker 8: seen Jalen Wattle excel in this system. He would be
[38:42] Speaker 8: like a reserve round pick in fantasy drafts, but definitely
[38:46] Speaker 8: a dart throw we're taking because he brings a high
[38:49] Speaker 8: ceiling for fantasy.
[38:50] Speaker 2: All right, you're so good. We got a bonus team
[38:52] Speaker 2: for you. Cleveland Browns have two picks. Where are they
[38:56] Speaker 2: going to go and help my fantasy team?
[38:58] Speaker 6: And which of their two first are going to be.
[39:01] Speaker 8: I don't think they take a receiver at six, but
[39:03] Speaker 8: at twenty three. Denzel Boston is a name to watch
[39:07] Speaker 8: because one, the Browns need receiver help. We know that,
[39:12] Speaker 8: and Boston is a big bodied receiver who could stretch
[39:16] Speaker 8: the field debit win contesta catches will be a really
[39:18] Speaker 8: big weapon for them in the red zone. He reminded
[39:21] Speaker 8: me of Roma Doonesa while watching him. I do think
[39:24] Speaker 8: though he would be boom or bust year one, especially
[39:27] Speaker 8: giving the Browns quarterback play, but there would be some
[39:30] Speaker 8: big weeks there. He'd be in later round pick a
[39:32] Speaker 8: better and best ball type, but still reasons to get
[39:35] Speaker 8: excited for him, both in fantasy.
[39:37] Speaker 6: Or if you are a Browns fan and this ends
[39:38] Speaker 6: up being the fit.
[39:39] Speaker 2: I will take any fantasy advice I get, mostly because
[39:42] Speaker 2: I'm terrible at it.
[39:43] Speaker 6: Let me next, yar, I'll be better.
[39:44] Speaker 2: So new year, FOURIO, great stuff, Thank you very much,
[39:47] Speaker 2: always awesome hanging out with you.
[39:49] Speaker 6: Two weeks to go for the draft, Plenty of places
[39:52] Speaker 6: to get your news not really only here. This is
[39:55] Speaker 6: the only place to get all the news.
[39:57] Speaker 2: The insiders money through Friday's seventh and if you look closely,
[40:01] Speaker 2: I'm all the way in the back of that picture.
[40:05] Speaker 1: Some news are on the NFL cornerback Chase Lucas agreed
[40:08] Speaker 1: it turns on a one year deal with the Bucks,
[40:10] Speaker 1: scoring to Mike Garafolo. Lucas spent last season with the
[40:14] Speaker 1: forty nine Ers, who unveiled a new jersey Pats for
[40:17] Speaker 1: their eightieth anniversary. That's not for Jerry Rice. No eighty years,
[40:22] Speaker 1: though I'm sure Jerry will be there to wear one. Meanwhile,
[40:25] Speaker 1: the Ravens set to unveil their new uniforms next Thursday.
[40:29] Speaker 1: Ian Rappaport primary home colors should be purple, white, black,
[40:34] Speaker 1: gold or other purple.
[40:36] Speaker 2: This isn't really a question, right, Everyone agrees on purple, Right, Judy,
[40:39] Speaker 2: it's been.
[40:39] Speaker 1: Black forever, Judy, No purple, all purple, purple, purple.
[40:44] Speaker 6: Embrace it, Tom a lot of black such a you
[40:47] Speaker 6: know whatever you are.
[40:49] Speaker 1: I say, all gold head to toe? Why not some
[40:52] Speaker 1: BM Tomorrow we'll say that the game
