[0:08] Speaker 1: The Seattle Seahawks say they're not running it back, They're
[0:11] Speaker 1: running it forward, and look at what that looks like.
[0:14] Speaker 1: Coming up at a live report from Steve Weis today
[0:16] Speaker 1: from Seahawks camp, and who wins the starting jobs at
[0:19] Speaker 1: some of the most hotly contested running back spots so
[0:22] Speaker 1: you can get them on your fantasy roster. Michael f
[0:24] Speaker 1: Florio has answers to those questions for you, and Jalen
[0:27] Speaker 1: Hurts and the Eagles back at work without a certain
[0:30] Speaker 1: big target. So just how much changes in Philly? That
[0:34] Speaker 1: and so much more coming up on this edition of
[0:36] Speaker 1: The Insiders. Everybody, Welcome to this Wednesday edition of The
[0:40] Speaker 1: Insider's Patrick Clayboune. Here in the nfl LA newsroom, these
[0:42] Speaker 1: are your Insiders. Mike Garolfollo, Ian Rappaport, and Judy Battista.
[0:46] Speaker 1: Ian had some news today, which is what we will
[0:49] Speaker 1: start with. New right now coming into the nfl LA newsroom,
[0:52] Speaker 1: per Ian and ESPN's Adam Schefter. The Kansas City Chiefs
[0:56] Speaker 1: adding two years to Patrick Mahomes's contract, which can take
[0:59] Speaker 1: his toll will value up to over five hundred million dollars.
[1:05] Speaker 1: Chairman and CEO of the Chiefs Clark Hunt said in
[1:08] Speaker 1: part in a statement, Patrick is a generational talent and
[1:11] Speaker 1: an elite human being, says he's excited to continue to
[1:16] Speaker 1: have him lead their team into the future. So a
[1:20] Speaker 1: lot of new money on this he and how this
[1:21] Speaker 1: deal come.
[1:22] Speaker 2: Together, and this something that has been in the works
[1:25] Speaker 2: for the last several weeks and months for the Kansas
[1:28] Speaker 2: City Chiefs to reward their superstar quarterback, Patrick Mahomes. You
[1:32] Speaker 2: went over the numbers and they are eye popping, but
[1:35] Speaker 2: they are not the entire story in this contract extension
[1:38] Speaker 2: that I reported with along with Adam Schefter. First, the
[1:41] Speaker 2: numbers though first deal ever in NFL history to total
[1:44] Speaker 2: over a half of billion dollars five hundred and four
[1:48] Speaker 2: five million dollars over the next eight seasons, a deal
[1:51] Speaker 2: to runs through twenty thirty three, nearly two hundred and
[1:55] Speaker 2: forty million dollars in new money and the new money
[1:58] Speaker 2: average the average new money is sixty four million dollars,
[2:02] Speaker 2: creating a new benchmark. In this deal done by his
[2:04] Speaker 2: agent Chris Cabin and Brett Beach, the Kansas City Chiefs
[2:07] Speaker 2: general manager, five hundred and twenty two million dollars. It
[2:11] Speaker 2: could be with incentives all Patrick. Considering that Patrick Mahomes
[2:15] Speaker 2: is recovering from a torn acl and lcal we have
[2:18] Speaker 2: seen him on the field.
[2:19] Speaker 1: He looks like he is doing incredibly well.
[2:22] Speaker 2: This is a big time vote of confidence health wise
[2:25] Speaker 2: and otherwise for their superstar.
[2:27] Speaker 1: Yeah, folks are thinking at home, let me get that money.
[2:29] Speaker 1: It's an easy process. You just got to win three
[2:31] Speaker 1: Super Bowls, get MVPs in all of them, and have
[2:33] Speaker 1: two season long MVPs. A relatively simple thing that gets
[2:36] Speaker 1: you on this list. One of the largest contracts in
[2:39] Speaker 1: all sports cont Wan Sotos fifteen years, seven hundred and
[2:43] Speaker 1: sixty five. Some of these fully guaranteed. Show Hey gets
[2:45] Speaker 1: ten for seven hundred million. It's really an accomplishment that
[2:49] Speaker 1: Patrick Mahomes makes his way onto the list.
[2:52] Speaker 3: Value could be up to five.
[2:53] Speaker 1: Hundred and four million dollars. Speaking of two time MVPs,
[2:56] Speaker 1: Lamar Jackson and the Ravens at Mini Caamp, adding Decklan
[2:59] Speaker 1: Doyle's name to the list of teams getting new off
[3:02] Speaker 1: of of coordinators and getting glowing praise from players to
[3:06] Speaker 1: saw scenes.
[3:08] Speaker 4: I believe I took a lot of strives in the
[3:11] Speaker 4: right direction this week.
[3:12] Speaker 1: This past week.
[3:13] Speaker 4: It's a different system that I'm accustomed to being in
[3:17] Speaker 4: and I feel like it's gonna be a lot of
[3:18] Speaker 4: exposive explosiveness going on this year because the way Deck
[3:23] Speaker 4: cost plays in his creativity with his mind and how
[3:25] Speaker 4: detailed he is, it's like mind blowing. So I'm excited
[3:30] Speaker 4: have been China right now. It's a new system. A
[3:34] Speaker 4: lot of terminology within this system. Nothing really transitioned over
[3:37] Speaker 4: from the last system, just like before, because we had
[3:40] Speaker 4: certain things when we was with Monkey, we brought some
[3:43] Speaker 4: things up from Gero system, you know, what I was
[3:45] Speaker 4: comfortable with, what a lot of guys were comfortable with.
[3:47] Speaker 4: But in this system, it's different. You know, it's all Deck,
[3:49] Speaker 4: and I feel like everybody's hands on, you know, with
[3:52] Speaker 4: doubt there. I feel like our coaches is like one
[3:55] Speaker 4: of us in a sense, you know, because we had
[3:58] Speaker 4: you know, coach Jesse here back like twenty eighteen, stuff
[4:01] Speaker 4: like that early on, and he was like he wasn't new.
[4:06] Speaker 1: It was new to me, but he wasn't really new,
[4:07] Speaker 1: but I really didn't see him.
[4:09] Speaker 4: But now I'm seeing him every day and the like
[4:10] Speaker 4: how you coaching and how you know, how on point
[4:12] Speaker 4: he is with know the scheme, schematics, of the defense
[4:16] Speaker 4: is like, bro, it's is awesome.
[4:17] Speaker 1: Have It's awesome.
[4:18] Speaker 5: Had it's finling right now.
[4:20] Speaker 1: And Michael will start with you that it's not. Just
[4:22] Speaker 1: a lot of guys have glowing praise for Declan Doyle
[4:25] Speaker 1: there with the Ravens.
[4:27] Speaker 6: And it started.
[4:28] Speaker 7: It's been a quick assent for Declan Doyle and it
[4:29] Speaker 7: started last year with the Bears. Ben Johnson getting the
[4:33] Speaker 7: bulk of the credit in Chicago and rightly so for
[4:36] Speaker 7: what he's done as an offensive mind over the last
[4:39] Speaker 7: few seasons, going back to this time as the coordinator
[4:42] Speaker 7: for the Lions, but Declan Doyle high praise from those
[4:46] Speaker 7: that have worked with him, those that have worked alongside
[4:50] Speaker 7: him or gotten to know him through his time in
[4:53] Speaker 7: the NFL period.
[4:56] Speaker 6: This is I mean, you're looking for the next.
[4:58] Speaker 7: Offensive mind who's going to be on a rocket ship
[5:02] Speaker 7: into a head coach.
[5:03] Speaker 6: This is the opportunity for.
[5:04] Speaker 7: Him, and partly because of how selective he was, I mean,
[5:08] Speaker 7: he had interest from a number of teams as an
[5:10] Speaker 7: offensive coordinator candidate, but he wanted to make sure that
[5:14] Speaker 7: it was the right situation. Actually turned down some opportunities
[5:16] Speaker 7: and this one felt right to him. So yeah, Lamar
[5:19] Speaker 7: if it's blowing your mind, He's blown a lot of
[5:21] Speaker 7: people's minds. And it's not just going to be about
[5:23] Speaker 7: doing things to make Lamar comfortable. It's getting Lamar in
[5:27] Speaker 7: tune with what he wants to do offensively and sort
[5:30] Speaker 7: of merge that. And obviously you want to make sure
[5:32] Speaker 7: you're doing things that are going to make your quarterback
[5:35] Speaker 7: or at least take advantage of his skill set as
[5:37] Speaker 7: much as possible. But this is one of the more
[5:39] Speaker 7: fascinating pairings in the league this season because this could
[5:42] Speaker 7: really result in some explosive things offensively in Baltimore, Judy.
[5:48] Speaker 8: Well, this team needed a refresh on offense. The entire
[5:52] Speaker 8: team underperformed last season. Obviously they missed the playoffs, but
[5:56] Speaker 8: the offense really underperformed. They were twenty seventh in passing offense.
[6:01] Speaker 8: They averaged a six point four yards per pass attempt.
[6:05] Speaker 8: Now a big piece of that, of course, is that
[6:07] Speaker 8: Lamar only played thirteen games, So anytime Lamar is not
[6:11] Speaker 8: on the field, the offense is not going to perform
[6:14] Speaker 8: up to where you think they are. But there was
[6:17] Speaker 8: more than that. Even when he was on the field,
[6:19] Speaker 8: they were simply not as explosive. They were not getting
[6:21] Speaker 8: the kind of chunk plays that you see really successful
[6:25] Speaker 8: offenses do in the NFL.
[6:27] Speaker 9: Now, that is what they are clearly looking for. Here's
[6:29] Speaker 9: another piece of it.
[6:30] Speaker 8: Who emerges deeper down the depth chart on the wide
[6:34] Speaker 8: receivers beyond Zay Flowers and Rashaun Bateman, who emerges as
[6:38] Speaker 8: the number three receiver. They've got some young guys on
[6:41] Speaker 8: the roster. Will they emerge, will they seize the job,
[6:44] Speaker 8: or could they go out at some point in the
[6:47] Speaker 8: summer and get one of the big name veteran wide
[6:50] Speaker 8: receivers who are still available on the market. We'll see
[6:53] Speaker 8: how it falls into place, but certainly there are very
[6:57] Speaker 8: big expectations for the Baltimore Ravens team early and especially
[7:01] Speaker 8: for that offense.
[7:02] Speaker 1: Expectations for things to perhaps be a little different this
[7:05] Speaker 1: time around. Ian with the contract we just talked about
[7:07] Speaker 1: Patrick Mahomes getting years added on, how different can things
[7:10] Speaker 1: be for the Ravens and Lamar Jackson this summer?
[7:14] Speaker 2: Right, Patrick Mahomes gets a record setting, groundbreaking contract extension.
[7:19] Speaker 2: Of course, the next question has to be how close
[7:21] Speaker 2: can Lamar Jackson get to his contract extension. Here's the thing,
[7:25] Speaker 2: Lamar Jackson's situation is different for a couple of reasons.
[7:28] Speaker 2: First of all, he's got two years left on his contract,
[7:30] Speaker 2: make it about fifty two million dollars this year, so
[7:32] Speaker 2: not really thirsty for a new contract. The team has
[7:35] Speaker 2: already restructured his deal for cap reasons, and I would
[7:38] Speaker 2: say not always, but generally, when a team restructures a
[7:42] Speaker 2: player's deal, you don't often see a player then get
[7:45] Speaker 2: a contract extension. It could happen, certainly, the Baltimore Ravens
[7:49] Speaker 2: and Lamar Jackson have discussed it.
[7:50] Speaker 1: You just don't often see it.
[7:52] Speaker 2: And then what Judy and Miken talked about a little
[7:54] Speaker 2: bit of a down year for the Baltimore Ravens offense
[7:57] Speaker 2: was fuller mar two. Availability wasn't great, he didn't play great.
[8:00] Speaker 2: Not the kind of year you want to go into
[8:03] Speaker 2: and then discuss a new contract. All which is to say,
[8:07] Speaker 2: would not be surprised if he goes out and kills
[8:09] Speaker 2: it this year and then cashes in during the next
[8:13] Speaker 2: offseason rather than this coming offseason.
[8:16] Speaker 1: Yeah, sixty two touchdowns, eleven interceptions the last two years.
[8:19] Speaker 1: We'll see what number Lamar gets close to. Let's go
[8:22] Speaker 1: elsewhere in the division. It's a coach. Lamar just talked
[8:25] Speaker 1: about Todd Mulkin, now the head coach of the Cleveland
[8:28] Speaker 1: brown saying earlier this week after mini camp, he's still
[8:32] Speaker 1: not going to announce the starting quarterback, so the battle
[8:34] Speaker 1: continues between Shador Sanders and Deshaun Watson, both of them
[8:38] Speaker 1: speaking about that competition this week.
[8:41] Speaker 10: I think the way how y'all look at things is
[8:43] Speaker 10: different in how we look at things. We look at
[8:46] Speaker 10: coming to practice every day, being the best player we
[8:48] Speaker 10: can be as an individual and as a good teammate.
[8:52] Speaker 10: Y'all look at it as like a competition. It's like,
[8:55] Speaker 10: I don't really that's not really nothing. I'm just focused on.
[8:58] Speaker 10: I'm focused on the up in as a player, like
[9:01] Speaker 10: doing everything, getting as comfortable as I can in the
[9:04] Speaker 10: offense and the scheme, and playing with that confidence I had.
[9:08] Speaker 10: So I think that's all I'm really looking for and
[9:11] Speaker 10: trying to improve every day, whether it is mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually,
[9:17] Speaker 10: Like I'm just trying to be a better person every
[9:19] Speaker 10: day and wherever that falls into place will fall into place.
[9:22] Speaker 11: Anytime you get the opportunity to play in the National
[9:24] Speaker 11: Football League is a honor, so you know, I don't
[9:28] Speaker 11: take it for granted. You know, I work hard to
[9:30] Speaker 11: do what I need to do each and every day
[9:32] Speaker 11: to try to try to put out the best product
[9:35] Speaker 11: I can on the field.
[9:36] Speaker 1: That's certainly two different ways to view this, the growth
[9:39] Speaker 1: of Shador Sanders versus I guess the antithesis of the
[9:42] Speaker 1: kind of step back to Shan Watson. So how do
[9:44] Speaker 1: you view this quarterback circumstance right now, Judy, Well.
[9:48] Speaker 8: First of all, I think it's really interesting that Todd Munkin,
[9:51] Speaker 8: who had been saying all spring that he was going
[9:53] Speaker 8: to name a starting quarterback for the season by the
[9:56] Speaker 8: end of the spring, is not.
[9:58] Speaker 9: Going to do it.
[9:58] Speaker 8: So that obviously suggests neither of these two have separated
[10:02] Speaker 8: themselves in the competition. This was the first time we've
[10:05] Speaker 8: heard from Deshaun Watson since he was injured in twenty
[10:09] Speaker 8: twenty four. He said a few really interesting things, especially
[10:12] Speaker 8: related to his health. First of all, he said he
[10:14] Speaker 8: feels one hundred percent. He thinks he's one hundred percent
[10:16] Speaker 8: healthy right now. He also said he has not been
[10:20] Speaker 8: he had not been fully healthy since early in the
[10:22] Speaker 8: twenty twenty three season when he first hurt his shoulder,
[10:25] Speaker 8: that he had not been okay since then, so that
[10:28] Speaker 8: obviously tells you he thinks that.
[10:30] Speaker 9: Impacted his performance.
[10:32] Speaker 8: He also said he feels really comfortable in Todd Monkin's offense,
[10:36] Speaker 8: in part because it puts a lot of responsibility on
[10:39] Speaker 8: the quarterback position. He said that is what he had
[10:42] Speaker 8: in Houston. He of course thrived in Houston, that was
[10:45] Speaker 8: before the trade back.
[10:47] Speaker 9: In twenty twenty.
[10:48] Speaker 8: He was asked, wouldn't it be great to be able
[10:50] Speaker 8: to replicate that twenty twenty season.
[10:51] Speaker 9: He says, I'm not trying to do that.
[10:53] Speaker 8: He was also asked where would you like to be
[10:55] Speaker 8: in twenty twenty seven. Where do you envision yourself and
[10:57] Speaker 8: he said, I am sort of laughed and he said,
[11:00] Speaker 8: I'm just trying to get through an entire season. I
[11:01] Speaker 8: just want to be able to play a full seventeen
[11:03] Speaker 8: game season. So certainly this competition is maybe closer right
[11:07] Speaker 8: now than Todd Monkin anticipated it was going to be.
[11:10] Speaker 9: It's going to go all the way into training camp.
[11:13] Speaker 2: And go go back to what you said, Judy about
[11:16] Speaker 2: so much being put on the quarterback.
[11:17] Speaker 1: That does bode well.
[11:18] Speaker 2: For Deshaun Watson. And the reality is to me, at
[11:21] Speaker 2: least if Deshaun Watson is a Cleveland Browns starting quarterback
[11:24] Speaker 2: to begin this season. That is okay, and in some
[11:27] Speaker 2: ways that's kind of the best case scenario because you
[11:29] Speaker 2: still don't know exactly what you have in Shadoor him
[11:32] Speaker 2: sitting and waiting and learning. He's got some playing time,
[11:35] Speaker 2: but him sitting waiting and learning is not the worst
[11:37] Speaker 2: thing in the world.
[11:38] Speaker 1: And you really would.
[11:39] Speaker 2: Like to see what the future holds for Deshaun Watson.
[11:43] Speaker 2: And he mentioned some of the reasons why we have
[11:45] Speaker 2: not seen a lot from him. He has not been healthy,
[11:48] Speaker 2: certainly not lately, and when he has played, he has
[11:51] Speaker 2: been hampered by.
[11:52] Speaker 1: Some of those injuries.
[11:53] Speaker 2: How good can he be and can he be the
[11:56] Speaker 2: quarterback that the Cleveland Browns thought they traded for like
[11:59] Speaker 2: five years ago.
[12:00] Speaker 1: The answer is maybe maybe. I wouldn't be.
[12:03] Speaker 2: Surprised in the end if he ends up as the
[12:05] Speaker 2: Cleveland Browns starting quarterback and if he plays himself into
[12:08] Speaker 2: being the starter for twenty twenty seven, well that only
[12:11] Speaker 2: adds the fascinating situation for Cleveland Mike.
[12:15] Speaker 7: Deshaun Watson was asked today about Jimmy Haslin, the owner
[12:18] Speaker 7: of the brown saying that they had the swing and
[12:20] Speaker 7: a miss, and here's my favorite party says one of
[12:22] Speaker 7: my favorite baseball players I've been.
[12:23] Speaker 6: Watching is Bryce harper Ian take that.
[12:27] Speaker 7: Yeah, it's been sometimes he swings, but he stands back up,
[12:30] Speaker 7: gets another opportunity.
[12:31] Speaker 6: I'm not done rubbing it in and he hits a
[12:33] Speaker 6: home run. We've got a lot of that against the Mets. Yes, yes,
[12:37] Speaker 6: he does me hard.
[12:38] Speaker 12: She was.
[12:39] Speaker 7: That's what Watson the Wats. That's what Watson plans on doing.
[12:43] Speaker 7: The backswort against the wall at this point, I mean,
[12:45] Speaker 7: it's been there was a trade, the big guaranteed contract,
[12:49] Speaker 7: which didn't sit well with the rest of the league.
[12:51] Speaker 6: And owners who were worried that there would now be
[12:53] Speaker 6: a precedent that was set. Obviously that one was discussed.
[12:57] Speaker 7: There was the off the field situation that a lot
[12:59] Speaker 7: of people still have not forgotten. There's the Achilles injury,
[13:02] Speaker 7: and then there's the owner saying what he said. You
[13:05] Speaker 7: don't want to hear that if you're one of the
[13:06] Speaker 7: players on the team, particularly if you're in the quarterback.
[13:08] Speaker 6: So Deshaun Watson.
[13:11] Speaker 7: Maybe taking a step away, not through his own volition,
[13:14] Speaker 7: but because of the torn achilles and maybe trying to
[13:17] Speaker 7: reset here.
[13:18] Speaker 1: This is it.
[13:18] Speaker 6: I mean, this is his last opportunity.
[13:20] Speaker 7: And frankly, Patrick, I don't know that anybody thought he
[13:22] Speaker 7: would get this opportunity, maybe including Jimmy Haslam, who then
[13:27] Speaker 7: backtracked that at one point said well, we're not necessarily
[13:29] Speaker 7: done with him, but at one point didn't make it
[13:31] Speaker 7: seeing that they were done with them.
[13:32] Speaker 6: Let's see.
[13:33] Speaker 7: I mean, it's one of the fascinating stories in that
[13:35] Speaker 7: Cleveland Browns quarterback room, and there's plenty of them.
[13:38] Speaker 1: Yeah, Judy mentioned the injuries, but he was at or
[13:41] Speaker 1: near the bottom in almost every statistical category during his
[13:44] Speaker 1: last senior as a starter for the Cleveland Browns. We
[13:47] Speaker 1: will leave the AFC North and go over to the
[13:50] Speaker 1: Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks starting they're moved forward again.
[13:56] Speaker 1: Mike Max says, they're not trying to run it back,
[13:58] Speaker 1: They're pushing forward. This is a new team with a
[14:01] Speaker 1: new season and an opportunity for us to look at
[14:04] Speaker 1: the Seahawks as they got their mandatory mini camp going
[14:07] Speaker 1: on today with our Steve Weisch who joins us from
[14:10] Speaker 1: written Washington today. And I want to say now that
[14:13] Speaker 1: I get a chance to see Steve, congratulations on your
[14:16] Speaker 1: induction into the Black College Football Hall of Fame Class
[14:20] Speaker 1: of twenty twenty six. Glad to see you. How different
[14:22] Speaker 1: are things going to be as these guys are trying
[14:25] Speaker 1: to now win another Super Bowl?
[14:29] Speaker 13: Well, first off, thanks a lot Patrick for you saying
[14:31] Speaker 13: that I really do appreciate everything that the network has
[14:33] Speaker 13: done in regards to that. Let's start off how things
[14:37] Speaker 13: win in mini camp today. Today was a jog through,
[14:39] Speaker 13: just a quick hour long workout. But when you talk
[14:41] Speaker 13: about things being different, the one new element is rookie
[14:44] Speaker 13: running back Jadarian Price. And even though it was a
[14:47] Speaker 13: jog through, there were times you sawm stickers foot in
[14:49] Speaker 13: the ground and the suddenness was there. Head coach Mike
[14:52] Speaker 13: McDonald told me all off season, you've seen the athletic
[14:55] Speaker 13: things that he can do, and especially what they would
[14:58] Speaker 13: caught their attention is how he catches the ball. He
[15:00] Speaker 13: only had fifteen catches at three seasons at Notre Dame,
[15:03] Speaker 13: but he's shown an awful lot in that regard. Now,
[15:06] Speaker 13: they wrap things up at their mini camp on Thursday,
[15:09] Speaker 13: but the big thing is in the final practice. It
[15:11] Speaker 13: is Thursday night when they have their ring ceremony where
[15:14] Speaker 13: they'll be getting their Super Bowl rings. They're trying to
[15:16] Speaker 13: keep the details of that very private. But what won't
[15:19] Speaker 13: be private, guys, and this is more of the spoils
[15:22] Speaker 13: of them being Super Bowl champions, is they're going to
[15:24] Speaker 13: be on HBO's Hard Knocks this year, and the Hard
[15:26] Speaker 13: Knocks crews have been in the team facility the past
[15:29] Speaker 13: few days preparing for when the team comes back to
[15:32] Speaker 13: training camp in late June and preparing all parties for
[15:35] Speaker 13: what they can expect.
[15:36] Speaker 1: Yeah, part of winning that Super Bowl is how great
[15:39] Speaker 1: the defense played. A lot of folks, myself included, felt
[15:42] Speaker 1: von Witherspoon had a chance to be the Super Bowl
[15:44] Speaker 1: MVP with how he played. Does he have a chance?
[15:46] Speaker 1: How close are they in contract talks for him to
[15:48] Speaker 1: get a new deal and stay in Seattle.
[15:51] Speaker 13: Well, I was told that they were working on it
[15:53] Speaker 13: by someone here with the Seahawks, and they see pretty
[15:55] Speaker 13: optimistic that maybe by the time they get to training
[15:57] Speaker 13: camp they can get something done Withtherspoon, who's kind of
[16:01] Speaker 13: that multi pronged hybrid defender, has been a Pro bowler
[16:04] Speaker 13: in each of his first three seasons. He was the
[16:07] Speaker 13: number five overall draft pick in twenty twenty three and
[16:10] Speaker 13: he's seeing the number twenty draft pick in that draft.
[16:13] Speaker 1: His teammate Jackson.
[16:14] Speaker 13: Smith and Jigba signed a four year, one hundred and
[16:16] Speaker 13: sixty eight million dollar extension this offseason. Now those numbers
[16:20] Speaker 13: won't be that high, but if you're looking for cops,
[16:22] Speaker 13: go to Los Angeles with the Rams just gave Trent
[16:24] Speaker 13: McDuffie a four year, one hundred and twenty four million
[16:27] Speaker 13: dollar extension and also maybe the thirty million dollar apy
[16:31] Speaker 13: type of contracts that the Colt Sauce Gardner or Derek
[16:35] Speaker 13: Stingley from the Texans received a year ago.
[16:37] Speaker 1: Yeah, a lot of marquee corners and the Seahawks had
[16:39] Speaker 1: to let go of their other corner as well in
[16:42] Speaker 1: free agency, so we'll see what the push is like
[16:44] Speaker 1: for Witherspoon. Steve wis there with the Seattle Seahawks again.
[16:47] Speaker 1: Congratulations Steve. We've got a one on one interview with
[16:50] Speaker 1: the Big Cat Leonard Williams and Steve coming up here
[16:53] Speaker 1: on the Insiders Show, rolling on just what are things
[16:58] Speaker 1: going to be like with AJ Brown and the New
[17:02] Speaker 1: England Patriots. Glowing praise from one of the most notable
[17:05] Speaker 1: important players on the Patriots team is coming up as
[17:09] Speaker 1: well as Jonathan Taylor and the Indianapolis Colts. He has
[17:14] Speaker 1: big plans in Indianapolis. How long can he be there?
[17:18] Speaker 1: He tells you how long he wants to be there
[17:20] Speaker 1: when we come back on the Insiders right here on
[17:22] Speaker 1: NFL Network. We are back here on the Insiders on
[17:33] Speaker 1: NFL Network. Loved launching news segments here is the thesis
[17:36] Speaker 1: behind rapid reacts because we have two valuable resources here.
[17:40] Speaker 1: We have this newsroom and a whole bunch of sound
[17:42] Speaker 1: and information to come in, and we have our insiders.
[17:45] Speaker 1: So what we're going to do is listen to some
[17:46] Speaker 1: sound and have our insiders react and contextualize the things
[17:50] Speaker 1: that you hear on TV, because that's what we do.
[17:53] Speaker 1: Will start in Indianapolis. Jonathan Taylor going into the final
[17:56] Speaker 1: year of his deal, the Colts coming off back to
[17:59] Speaker 1: back Pro Bowls. For they're running back averaging over fifteen
[18:02] Speaker 1: hundred yards rushing. But he has goals that are far
[18:06] Speaker 1: more than just statistical.
[18:09] Speaker 3: I'd definitely love to be a cult for life.
[18:10] Speaker 12: I think I've already expressed that to them throughout the years.
[18:14] Speaker 12: Just from college coming here. You grow up in college
[18:18] Speaker 12: a little bit to a young man and then now
[18:21] Speaker 12: growing into like an adult. This is like a third
[18:24] Speaker 12: home of mine. So I've definitely expressed that and hopefully
[18:27] Speaker 12: they feel the same, because this is it's a special place.
[18:30] Speaker 12: Not every building is like this, and I've heard some
[18:32] Speaker 12: stories now, especially from guys coming from other places, and
[18:35] Speaker 12: it's not.
[18:35] Speaker 6: Like this everywhere.
[18:38] Speaker 2: Jonthan Taylor certainly has grown up and been through it
[18:41] Speaker 2: in Indianapolis, had a very contentious contract situation several years ago.
[18:46] Speaker 2: Now entering the final year of his deal for the
[18:48] Speaker 2: Indnapolis coach, says he wants to be a member.
[18:49] Speaker 1: Of the coach for life.
[18:51] Speaker 2: In order for that to happen, he's going to need
[18:52] Speaker 2: a new deal. Set to make about thirteen or so
[18:55] Speaker 2: million dollars this year, obviously wants a new deal. The
[18:58] Speaker 2: fact that he showed up is at least a good
[19:00] Speaker 2: signed them. Maybe the coach will talk to him about it.
[19:03] Speaker 2: No doubt about it. He deserves a new deal. Meanwhile,
[19:07] Speaker 2: for his teammate Alec Pierce, he got a new deal,
[19:09] Speaker 2: had to go to free agency to get it, but
[19:11] Speaker 2: he got a huge one hundred and fourteen million dollar
[19:14] Speaker 2: new contract and then had ankle surgery. Alec Pierce faces
[19:18] Speaker 2: a four to six month recovering from ankle surgery. Tried
[19:21] Speaker 2: to just do rehab, tried to figure it out. Surgery
[19:24] Speaker 2: was the only way they could possibly get into heal.
[19:26] Speaker 2: He could miss or say likely miss the start of
[19:29] Speaker 2: training camp.
[19:30] Speaker 1: They believe he will be.
[19:31] Speaker 2: Ready though for the season. That being said, the contract
[19:34] Speaker 2: is for the long Let's.
[19:35] Speaker 1: Go so the Packers. Tucker Craft number four in the
[19:39] Speaker 1: league in yards after the catch before he tore his
[19:42] Speaker 1: ACL in Week nine. That wasn't just among tight ends,
[19:45] Speaker 1: among everyone, he was number four in the league. He
[19:47] Speaker 1: updates his recovery timeline such a big piece of the Packers'
[19:51] Speaker 1: offense this week.
[19:53] Speaker 14: Starting the starting camp on the puff and coming off camp,
[19:56] Speaker 14: My anticipation is, you know, they don't really want to
[19:59] Speaker 14: talk out of injuries and stuff, but with how I feel,
[20:03] Speaker 14: I would say, I'm going to get all the conditioning
[20:05] Speaker 14: I need in camp to start week one on no
[20:07] Speaker 14: pitch count, and.
[20:09] Speaker 6: It's great news for the Green Bay Packers there.
[20:11] Speaker 7: Now, there's a difference between not being on a pitch
[20:13] Speaker 7: count and being one hundred percent all the way back
[20:15] Speaker 7: from an injury. It's going to be within a calendar year,
[20:18] Speaker 7: and most athletic trainers or doctors will tell you, no,
[20:21] Speaker 7: he's not going to be one hundred percent, but he'll
[20:22] Speaker 7: be close to that. And my understanding is this rehab
[20:24] Speaker 7: is going extremely well. We're seeing some rehabs around the
[20:27] Speaker 7: league that are not, so this is a great indication
[20:30] Speaker 7: from Tucker Craft that again maybe not one hundred percent,
[20:33] Speaker 7: but close enough and.
[20:34] Speaker 6: Not going to be limited come week one. I agree
[20:36] Speaker 6: that's going to be the case.
[20:38] Speaker 1: David Bailey taking number two overall by the Jets and
[20:41] Speaker 1: this year's draft after a great season of Texas set
[20:44] Speaker 1: and so far as head coach sees the stuff that
[20:47] Speaker 1: he saw when Bailey played for the Red Raiders.
[20:51] Speaker 15: The first step quickness is something that pops off the
[20:53] Speaker 15: tape like immediately. You do see the moves that he's
[20:58] Speaker 15: trying to create. And this is the time when you
[21:00] Speaker 15: want to work on some things that you know you
[21:02] Speaker 15: might not feel as comfortable with. This is time to
[21:04] Speaker 15: work on those things. So he's working on some of
[21:07] Speaker 15: his weaknesses, but you do see the strong points of
[21:10] Speaker 15: what he has and and I don't want him to
[21:13] Speaker 15: lose sight of that of the things that we know
[21:15] Speaker 15: that he can do, but this is the time to
[21:19] Speaker 15: work on things that you want to get better at,
[21:20] Speaker 15: and that's what we're focused on with him, is man,
[21:23] Speaker 15: let's make sure we use the speed rush that you have,
[21:27] Speaker 15: but also understand that you get rush for power and
[21:29] Speaker 15: you have a spin move that can be pretty deadly
[21:32] Speaker 15: in his arsenal.
[21:34] Speaker 9: Well, one thing is clear.
[21:35] Speaker 8: They are not going to ease David Bailey, and Aaron
[21:38] Speaker 8: Glenn has come out and said he's going to be
[21:40] Speaker 8: a starting outside linebacker when they're in the three four
[21:42] Speaker 8: and when they are using four down linemen. He is
[21:45] Speaker 8: going to be a starting defensive end.
[21:48] Speaker 9: So he is going to get the full load.
[21:50] Speaker 8: There were questions coming out of college about how his
[21:52] Speaker 8: run defense would be. Aaron Glenn is that he's got
[21:54] Speaker 8: no concerns about his ability to set the edge. Harrison
[21:57] Speaker 8: Phillips said today, he flies around so much, you are
[22:00] Speaker 8: sure he can fly after other players. We are going
[22:03] Speaker 8: to see a lot of David Bailey this season.
[22:06] Speaker 1: Here's what's now today coming into the nfl LA newsroom,
[22:08] Speaker 1: the Chiefs making some changes to Patrick Mahomes contract. Per
[22:11] Speaker 1: NFL Networking sider Ian Rappaport and ESPN's Adam Scheffer, They're
[22:15] Speaker 1: going to add two years of new money could be
[22:17] Speaker 1: worth up to two hundred and thirty nine million dollars.
[22:20] Speaker 1: Chiefs their tweetings good day, then Chiefs Kingdom elsewhere in
[22:25] Speaker 1: the AFC, and his last action for the Browns quarterback
[22:27] Speaker 1: butshn Watson was not very good in the bottom of
[22:31] Speaker 1: several categories. He's in a battle for quarterback. Says it's
[22:34] Speaker 1: the first time he's been healthy since all the way
[22:36] Speaker 1: back in twenty twenty three. Not trying to replicate his
[22:39] Speaker 1: last successful season, which was back in twenty twenty, says
[22:42] Speaker 1: he is a different player. Maliku Neighbors season ended in
[22:45] Speaker 1: Week four with a torn ACL didn't have a surgery
[22:48] Speaker 1: toil late October. New head coach John Harbaugh updating neighbors
[22:52] Speaker 1: status this week.
[22:55] Speaker 5: I wasn't less optimistic before.
[22:57] Speaker 16: You know.
[22:57] Speaker 5: It's just like I said, I said, it's as a slog,
[23:01] Speaker 5: it's a grind. He's he's still in the middle of it.
[23:04] Speaker 5: It's still he's probably not in the middle of it now.
[23:06] Speaker 5: He's probably maybe seventy percent through, I don't know, something
[23:10] Speaker 5: like that, but he's eighty percent. You know. I'm very
[23:12] Speaker 5: hopeful that he'll be he'll be back soon. But I
[23:15] Speaker 5: also understand you know, he come back from a knee
[23:17] Speaker 5: there's going to be he could be. He'll be back,
[23:19] Speaker 5: and then he'll still be building his way back to
[23:21] Speaker 5: where he's, you know, his ultimate full strength self. So
[23:25] Speaker 5: but he's doing great. He's doing a great job. He's
[23:27] Speaker 5: made some real good progress in the last few.
[23:28] Speaker 1: Weeks back with Judy Batista, and I heard Coach Harbill
[23:32] Speaker 1: there responding to the question itself. Seemed like there were
[23:34] Speaker 1: some growing concerns in the area as people saw Neighbors.
[23:38] Speaker 1: It seems like it's a little more positive outlook this
[23:40] Speaker 1: summer up.
[23:42] Speaker 8: Well, I think it's John Harbaugh trying to be realistic
[23:45] Speaker 8: and maybe set expectations a little bit. He wants to
[23:48] Speaker 8: make clear they hope he is back for the start
[23:50] Speaker 8: of the season, but even if Molite Neighbors is on
[23:53] Speaker 8: the field for Week one, that is not going to
[23:55] Speaker 8: be the full Milite Neighbors that he will be after
[23:58] Speaker 8: he has built himself all the way back up. John
[24:02] Speaker 8: Harbaugh saying he's maybe seventy to eighty percent through with
[24:05] Speaker 8: the rehab, he kept calling it a grind, tells you
[24:09] Speaker 8: he's not all the way there yet. We're at the
[24:11] Speaker 8: end of mandatory mini camp. The thing to watch is
[24:14] Speaker 8: how do they bring him along in training camp? Where
[24:16] Speaker 8: is he when they open training camp in late July?
[24:19] Speaker 8: And again, keep in mind, whenever he gets on the field,
[24:23] Speaker 8: it is still not going to be the player he
[24:25] Speaker 8: will eventually be when he has built himself all the
[24:27] Speaker 8: way back.
[24:28] Speaker 1: Yeah, it's important to set expectations. I think people think
[24:30] Speaker 1: back to Adrian Peterson having the most successful ACL recovery
[24:33] Speaker 1: of all time being eight months. The expectations do need
[24:38] Speaker 1: to be relative. Let's look elsewhere on the roster caveon
[24:42] Speaker 1: Thibodeau getting a ton of trade speculation from outside the facility.
[24:46] Speaker 1: Here's what he's saying when asked about that at the
[24:49] Speaker 1: facility this week.
[24:51] Speaker 17: For me, I've never worried about what people think. I
[24:56] Speaker 17: want to be great too, So Tiger, if it ain't great,
[24:58] Speaker 17: trust me, I know, you know. So as far as
[25:01] Speaker 17: like everything around me, like I'm on a mission and
[25:05] Speaker 17: I'm aware enough to know what I got to continue
[25:07] Speaker 17: to get better at, and I'm humble enough to say like, hey,
[25:09] Speaker 17: help me, you know, help me find what things I
[25:11] Speaker 17: can do to get better or how I can do it.
[25:13] Speaker 17: So it's been great for me. Man, I'm happy. I'm
[25:15] Speaker 17: in a position where it's like, you know, if I
[25:17] Speaker 17: go play, great, God is good.
[25:20] Speaker 3: If I don't go play, great, God is still good.
[25:22] Speaker 17: You know, I've been able to accomplish my dream by
[25:25] Speaker 17: being here, and now it's just time to go take
[25:26] Speaker 17: everything that I deserve.
[25:28] Speaker 1: So Kavon focused on the things he could control. Ian
[25:31] Speaker 1: Rappaport back with us trade possibilities for Kaveon Thibodau. Where
[25:34] Speaker 1: the things stand right now?
[25:37] Speaker 2: My understanding is the trade possibility stand from slim to
[25:41] Speaker 2: none for keve On Thibodau now going into the draft,
[25:43] Speaker 2: but certainly worse some possibilities that Giants did receive some
[25:46] Speaker 2: calls from teams, including the New Orleans Saints. Giants had
[25:49] Speaker 2: a pretty high price on a young players do some money,
[25:53] Speaker 2: but not a ton of money.
[25:54] Speaker 1: Wanted a third rounder for Kaevon Thibodeau.
[25:57] Speaker 2: Did not get that and basically decided, Okay, we are
[26:00] Speaker 2: going to keep them. And I know that because the
[26:02] Speaker 2: Saints moved on to go trade for another player. Then
[26:06] Speaker 2: the Giants selected r bel Reese. They're going to play
[26:08] Speaker 2: him off the ball, not on the edge because they
[26:11] Speaker 2: have Thibodeau on the edge. All which to say a
[26:13] Speaker 2: long way around saying they have plans for Caveon Thibodeau.
[26:16] Speaker 2: They have plans for all of their super athletic defenders,
[26:20] Speaker 2: including reees, including Thibodeau. I expect them all to play
[26:22] Speaker 2: together this year, and then whatever happens after that, all
[26:26] Speaker 2: sides will figure it out.
[26:27] Speaker 1: And there's a lot of historical precedent for teams that
[26:29] Speaker 1: have depth at a particular position and have been able
[26:32] Speaker 1: to be successful not needing any apply that's okay elsewhere,
[26:35] Speaker 1: including a team that has gone a couple of Super Bowls,
[26:38] Speaker 1: one one of them, the Philadelphia Eagles. They're back at
[26:40] Speaker 1: mini camp this week, the first media availability for Jalen
[26:44] Speaker 1: Hurts since the trade of AJ Brown, and now I
[26:47] Speaker 1: guess Jalen Hurts time to get up there and answer
[26:51] Speaker 1: questions about AJ Brown, especially considering there was an interview
[26:54] Speaker 1: with Maria Taylor where AJ Brown said towards the end
[26:58] Speaker 1: they weren't as close as they once were. What Jalen
[27:01] Speaker 1: Hurts had to say in response to that.
[27:05] Speaker 18: I'm not in a place to challenge anyone's perspective on anything,
[27:12] Speaker 18: you know, Seemingly so it was, and that's that's that's
[27:21] Speaker 18: where I am I've always been focused on the collective.
[27:24] Speaker 18: I've always put my energy towards that, and as a leader,
[27:28] Speaker 18: I've always put a onus on giving maximum effort to
[27:33] Speaker 18: achieve the share mission we have in the team.
[27:36] Speaker 3: So is there any disappointment about the way his time here?
[27:39] Speaker 6: I do? You know, you come into it and.
[27:45] Speaker 18: You you have a sense of pride, and you know
[27:48] Speaker 18: how how it began, and definitely what we were able
[27:52] Speaker 18: to accomplish, you know, and in the same thing that
[27:55] Speaker 18: I said last time, nothing can take that away. So
[27:58] Speaker 18: for the great things that we did, know it's something
[28:01] Speaker 18: to focus on achieving great things with this new iteration
[28:04] Speaker 18: of the team.
[28:05] Speaker 1: Back now with mirk Aryl follow Eventually everyone will stop
[28:07] Speaker 1: asking about the relationships. It's an overall message. Everybody very
[28:10] Speaker 1: happy that they won the Super Bowl. It was a
[28:12] Speaker 1: great moment. So football wise, what changes for Jalen Hurts
[28:16] Speaker 1: and the Eagles now?
[28:17] Speaker 7: I would say the good news for Jalen Hurts has
[28:19] Speaker 7: no more questions about aj Brown until until mid August,
[28:25] Speaker 7: mid to late August, when they have the joint practices
[28:27] Speaker 7: with the Patriots up there in Foxborough.
[28:29] Speaker 6: That'll be the next time.
[28:31] Speaker 7: At some point It'll be about only about Hurts and
[28:35] Speaker 7: this offense and Sean Manyon is the new offensive coordinator
[28:38] Speaker 7: and how it's going to fit, and how they're going
[28:40] Speaker 7: to merge.
[28:41] Speaker 6: What Manion and that whole Shanahan.
[28:42] Speaker 7: Tree that he's a leaf off of will merge with
[28:46] Speaker 7: what Jalen Hurts likes to do and what he's comfortable doing.
[28:49] Speaker 6: And so the next time we.
[28:50] Speaker 7: Talk or hear from Jalen Hurts, I should say, next
[28:52] Speaker 7: time he talks to the media is going to be
[28:54] Speaker 7: during training camp, when those will be the questions, primarily
[28:57] Speaker 7: football questions.
[29:00] Speaker 6: We'll be watching every single day.
[29:01] Speaker 7: We'll be, you know, tracking some of us will be
[29:03] Speaker 7: tracking the stats, training camp stats. My favorite SATs, how
[29:07] Speaker 7: many times the ball hit the ground, all that good stuff,
[29:09] Speaker 7: because we want to see how comfortable he is.
[29:11] Speaker 6: Probably won't see him bunch of the preseason.
[29:13] Speaker 7: Nick Sirianni hasn't been playing his starters, but that'll be
[29:15] Speaker 7: the storyline the next time Jalen hurt speaks to the media.
[29:18] Speaker 1: Yeah, and not to debate the passing stats from training camp,
[29:21] Speaker 1: because all his football dorks are drilling into that over
[29:25] Speaker 1: and over again. Because that's it. That's why we were
[29:27] Speaker 1: doing the show that's why you guys are watching. We
[29:29] Speaker 1: appreciate that. Mike gear follow on the Philadelphia Eagles. Let's
[29:32] Speaker 1: go to the Seattle Seahawks, coming off of their Super
[29:35] Speaker 1: Bowl champions they're Sam Darnold defending champs, holding mini camp
[29:39] Speaker 1: today and tomorrow. On the defensive side, runner off defensive
[29:42] Speaker 1: Rookie of the Year Nikki min Warre says he's trying
[29:44] Speaker 1: to evolve his game. His teammate Leonard Williams going one
[29:48] Speaker 1: on one with our Steve White.
[29:51] Speaker 13: All right, Leonard came out there a little fun even
[29:53] Speaker 13: so you line up like you're gonna man up Cooper
[29:54] Speaker 13: Cup there in the slot.
[29:57] Speaker 6: But as fun as you may be, right now, you are.
[30:00] Speaker 3: Super Bowl champs.
[30:02] Speaker 13: Man, is there a difference in the approach this offseason
[30:05] Speaker 13: in previous years?
[30:06] Speaker 16: I would say there's no difference. That's something that actually
[30:08] Speaker 16: we've been harping on a lot is starting from the ground,
[30:11] Speaker 16: just how we did last year. We talked about climbing
[30:14] Speaker 16: that mountain and playing in the death zone, which is
[30:16] Speaker 16: like what we harp on our style of football is
[30:18] Speaker 16: playing in the dead zone. There's a lot more details
[30:21] Speaker 16: that go involved with that, obviously, but we're talking about
[30:23] Speaker 16: starting at the bottom of the mountain all over again.
[30:25] Speaker 3: And why is that important?
[30:27] Speaker 13: Because you look at this roster, there wasn't significant personnel change.
[30:30] Speaker 13: A lot of times teams win a Super Bowl and
[30:31] Speaker 13: they lose a lot of guys to other teams. How
[30:34] Speaker 13: important is it for you guys to stay fresh knowing
[30:37] Speaker 13: that you're pretty much roster intact.
[30:39] Speaker 16: I mean, I think that's a big part of it. Obviously,
[30:41] Speaker 16: is you know, keeping a lot of our roster the same.
[30:44] Speaker 16: You know, we have a lot of the same guys
[30:45] Speaker 16: that we went all the way with last year. But
[30:48] Speaker 16: I think bigger the than the you know who's on
[30:52] Speaker 16: the players, Bigger than the players that are here, I
[30:55] Speaker 16: would say, it's the culture. So keeping that culture alive
[30:58] Speaker 16: is what's going to take us to that to where
[31:00] Speaker 16: we want to go again. And I think that's that's
[31:02] Speaker 16: the biggest thing.
[31:03] Speaker 13: Defensively, you guys are so good last year and a
[31:06] Speaker 13: lot of folks may say, like, yeah, they still got
[31:08] Speaker 13: a lot of young guys who are gonna make this
[31:10] Speaker 13: defense better.
[31:12] Speaker 1: What about that?
[31:12] Speaker 13: Guys like Devin, Guys like Nick emn worry who can
[31:15] Speaker 13: get better?
[31:16] Speaker 16: I mean Devin, he was just like one of the heartbeats,
[31:18] Speaker 16: engines of the team, like his energy and his passion,
[31:20] Speaker 16: the way he plays the game. Guys on the defense
[31:23] Speaker 16: having no choice but to step up to that level
[31:25] Speaker 16: because if he's playing at a certain level, you're gonna
[31:27] Speaker 16: stand out when you're not playing at that level. And
[31:29] Speaker 16: that's the way our whole defense is. And you know,
[31:31] Speaker 16: having a Swiss army knife like NICKI man worry really
[31:34] Speaker 16: keeps offenses guessing because you know, we can line up
[31:36] Speaker 16: on you know, we can line him up at a safety, linebacker,
[31:39] Speaker 16: d line anywhere you want. Really, he could do it all.
[31:42] Speaker 16: And I think we just have a great combination of
[31:44] Speaker 16: like older guys who you know, we could pass our
[31:45] Speaker 16: wisdom down to the young guys. And then we have
[31:47] Speaker 16: young guys who are coming in with new talent and
[31:49] Speaker 16: new ideas, new mottos, and uh, it's just a great mix.
[31:53] Speaker 13: Tomorrow night, you guys can get it. Get a little
[31:54] Speaker 13: more jewelry. You're gonna get your Super Bowl rings. Man,
[31:57] Speaker 13: what about that?
[31:57] Speaker 6: Man?
[31:58] Speaker 16: I can't wait. It's been a long time coming. I
[32:00] Speaker 16: can't believe it's tomorrow. I feel like I'm going to
[32:02] Speaker 16: sleep like on Christmas Eve right now, waking up tomorrow
[32:05] Speaker 16: about to get my ring. Man. I'm excited I get
[32:08] Speaker 16: to see the guys. It's gonna feel like a reunion
[32:11] Speaker 16: from last season.
[32:13] Speaker 13: I gotta ask you this, because every team does need
[32:15] Speaker 13: its motivation. You guys win the Super Bowl, but people
[32:19] Speaker 13: are saying because the Rams down the road when it
[32:21] Speaker 13: got Miles geartt Ad maybe coming back, that they're the favorites.
[32:25] Speaker 3: What does that?
[32:26] Speaker 13: D Does that add any fuel on to this rive
[32:28] Speaker 13: where you guys got going.
[32:29] Speaker 16: I mean, for sure, I think that's something that you know,
[32:32] Speaker 16: we have out here in Seattle, playing in the Pacific Northwest.
[32:35] Speaker 16: We feel like we get overlooked a lot of times.
[32:38] Speaker 16: So I feel like we already kind of have a
[32:39] Speaker 16: chip on our shoulder, and even after winning the super Bowl,
[32:42] Speaker 16: we're still not considered favorites. So I think that's definitely
[32:45] Speaker 16: stacking some chips on everybody's shoulders. And we're just saying,
[32:48] Speaker 16: you know, watch out all right, appreciate you, man, Sorry,
[32:51] Speaker 16: thank you.
[32:52] Speaker 1: We're also watching out for a particular battle at the
[32:55] Speaker 1: running back position on the Seahawks. Michael f floryal won't
[32:59] Speaker 1: let you know who will win these running running back
[33:02] Speaker 1: battles in camp and how that works for your fantasy
[33:05] Speaker 1: ross that's coming up next on the inside. Back here
[33:17] Speaker 1: on the inside, let's go inside with Fantasy Live with
[33:20] Speaker 1: NFL Fantasy's own Michael f. Florido. Back here in studio, Mike.
[33:24] Speaker 1: Everybody wants to get volume at value, So let's go
[33:28] Speaker 1: through some of these running back battles. Starting in Pittsburgh.
[33:32] Speaker 1: Who do we want, Rico o'dowdell or Jalen Warren.
[33:34] Speaker 19: I think Rico Daddell and shout out to researcher Lawan Jones,
[33:38] Speaker 19: who really was the one hammering this home on our podcast.
[33:41] Speaker 19: But Daddell spent the first five years of his NFL
[33:44] Speaker 19: career with Mike McCarthy and in his final year in
[33:47] Speaker 19: Dallas took over as a starter and ran for almost
[33:49] Speaker 19: eleven hundred yards. Now we know Jalen Warren is the incumbent,
[33:53] Speaker 19: but I think Rico Daddell's experience with McCarthy gives him
[33:57] Speaker 19: the upper hand in this battle. And don't forget there
[33:59] Speaker 19: is this atch of Carolina last year where he just
[34:01] Speaker 19: looked fantastic. But Dadtell isn't the strongest receiver, which is
[34:06] Speaker 19: where I think Warren shines.
[34:08] Speaker 6: I think this backfield will operate a lot like last.
[34:10] Speaker 19: Year, but instead of warn being the early down back,
[34:12] Speaker 19: he's the passing down back with Rico Dowdell playing those
[34:16] Speaker 19: early downs. To me though, for fantasy, they're both AREB
[34:18] Speaker 19: three or flex options. And I'll be honest, I'm avoiding
[34:21] Speaker 19: the Steelers offense if I can. And then you didn't
[34:25] Speaker 19: think I was done hyping up Trevon Henderson last year,
[34:27] Speaker 19: right a conversation. No, no, no, I think Henderson is
[34:31] Speaker 19: going to come in and win the Patriots RB one job.
[34:34] Speaker 19: And let's not forget in games last year where he
[34:37] Speaker 19: had fifteen or more touches, he averaged over twenty Fantasy
[34:40] Speaker 19: points per game, and he is faster than Stevenson. He
[34:43] Speaker 19: averaged more yards on Carrie's inside and outside, he forced
[34:46] Speaker 19: more tackles. He was in a very effective goal line
[34:49] Speaker 19: runner once they gave him the opportunity.
[34:51] Speaker 6: The one thing that where Stevenson.
[34:53] Speaker 19: Had him beat, he was better as a pass.
[34:55] Speaker 6: Catcher and a receiver.
[34:57] Speaker 19: But I have hope for Trevion because he was awesome
[34:59] Speaker 19: in those guards in college and.
[35:01] Speaker 6: He's even cheaper in drafts as of.
[35:03] Speaker 19: Right now than he was a year ago. And then
[35:05] Speaker 19: in Seattle I'm excited for Jendarium Price. Like the Seahawks
[35:10] Speaker 19: first of all, ran the ball at the highest rate
[35:11] Speaker 19: last season, so you're going to want pieces of this backfield.
[35:15] Speaker 6: We know they lost.
[35:16] Speaker 19: Kenneth Walker, Charba Day tore his ACL in mid January,
[35:20] Speaker 19: so I'm not so sure we're going to see him
[35:22] Speaker 19: early on next year, and that would leave Price and
[35:25] Speaker 19: Emmanuel Wilson and others competing for the RB one spot.
[35:28] Speaker 19: But I think the fact that they use a first
[35:29] Speaker 19: round pack on Price tells you what they think of him.
[35:32] Speaker 19: And he's getting drafted in early drafts. He's like a
[35:34] Speaker 19: low end RB two, high end RB three that feels
[35:38] Speaker 19: about right.
[35:38] Speaker 6: The only caveat he never caught more.
[35:40] Speaker 19: Than six passes in a season in college, and we
[35:42] Speaker 19: know if you can't catch passes, that limits your ceiling.
[35:45] Speaker 1: Fans, and we're going to find out more about We
[35:48] Speaker 1: have the NFLPA hype video for We're going to actually
[35:51] Speaker 1: have video for Jendarium Price. Because he's playing behind a
[35:54] Speaker 1: very good player in college, we'll get more chances to
[35:56] Speaker 1: perhaps see some passes. Speaking of pass catchers, what's favorite
[36:00] Speaker 1: wide receiver battle Fantasy wise? Right now?
[36:02] Speaker 19: I think look Christian Watson is a dog and I
[36:05] Speaker 19: love him, but I think there's a big battle for
[36:07] Speaker 19: the number two spot in Green Bay between Jayden Reed
[36:10] Speaker 19: and Matthew Golden.
[36:11] Speaker 6: And on team Jayden Reid in this one.
[36:13] Speaker 19: Because he got hurt last year in Week two and
[36:16] Speaker 19: then it was two serious injuries.
[36:18] Speaker 6: We really never saw him fully acclimated after that. But
[36:22] Speaker 6: he is a unique skill set. I call him Wisconsin Deebo.
[36:26] Speaker 19: He is the kind of receiver you want to generate
[36:27] Speaker 19: touches four and don't forget. And the two years before
[36:31] Speaker 19: last year, he was a top thirty Fantasy wide receiver
[36:33] Speaker 19: each year, rated as one of the best slot receivers
[36:36] Speaker 19: in the NFL.
[36:37] Speaker 6: Meanwhile, Matthew Golden went for.
[36:39] Speaker 19: Less than three hundred and seventy yards and no touchdowns
[36:41] Speaker 19: as a rookie. I know he controls his own fate,
[36:44] Speaker 19: but history tells us you're not going to farewell as
[36:46] Speaker 19: a first round rookie who put up numbers like that.
[36:48] Speaker 19: In fact, since twenty ten, Mike william is the only
[36:51] Speaker 19: one to have real success after a rookie.
[36:53] Speaker 6: Year like that.
[36:53] Speaker 19: It's because he barely played as a rookie. Everyone else
[36:56] Speaker 19: kind of struggled post year one.
[36:57] Speaker 1: Perhaps the next year will be the year where the
[37:00] Speaker 1: wide receiver thing isn't necessarily a question. Let's go to
[37:03] Speaker 1: tight ends. If you are not in the trade mcbroad
[37:05] Speaker 1: sweep six and your bargain shopping favorite tight end battle
[37:09] Speaker 1: right now to kind of be that high values fut.
[37:12] Speaker 6: One that is going to take place right there.
[37:14] Speaker 19: We can see so far from where we're sitting, and
[37:16] Speaker 19: that is where Ronde Gatson does his his work. That's
[37:19] Speaker 19: where I think he wins the job this camp, even
[37:22] Speaker 19: though they don't have camp there. It's a little bit
[37:23] Speaker 19: more south.
[37:24] Speaker 6: But don't forget, like he showed us last.
[37:26] Speaker 19: Year he could play when those wide receivers were banged up.
[37:29] Speaker 19: He had one hundred and sixty four yard game with
[37:31] Speaker 19: a touchdown. But I expect the Chargers to throw even
[37:34] Speaker 19: more with Mike McDaniel there.
[37:35] Speaker 13: Like.
[37:36] Speaker 19: He also featured tight ends at a slightly higher rate
[37:39] Speaker 19: than Greg Roman has traditionally, and Gatson rated metrically much
[37:43] Speaker 19: better than David and Joku. My only concern here is
[37:47] Speaker 19: could David and Joku steal those valuable red zone looks away?
[37:50] Speaker 19: But even so, Gadson is getting drafted in that like
[37:53] Speaker 19: low end tight end one high end tight end, two range,
[37:55] Speaker 19: and the great thing there is you could pare him
[37:58] Speaker 19: with a safe veteran like a Kelsey Mark Andrews, take
[38:00] Speaker 19: your pick, and then you kind of have a safe
[38:02] Speaker 19: floor and an upside plate tight.
[38:04] Speaker 1: End and something that pushes the ADP doubt that name
[38:06] Speaker 1: recognition where joking is going to go. Yeah, you want
[38:09] Speaker 1: to talk about name recognition, it's Michael f Florio, Patrick
[38:12] Speaker 1: Clay Fantasy. What a great show, great logo as well,
[38:15] Speaker 1: and wait to see the Patriots. In day two of
[38:18] Speaker 1: mandatory Medicamp today, Drake May, taking his turn at the microphone,
[38:21] Speaker 1: listened to some of his favorite things about new top
[38:24] Speaker 1: target Aj Brown.
[38:26] Speaker 20: The best thing about him, He's been a winner, you know,
[38:28] Speaker 20: he's Noway's like to win and obviously had someone in
[38:31] Speaker 20: that room that you really, you know, kind of we
[38:32] Speaker 20: were we're kind of, you know, kind of looking for
[38:35] Speaker 20: and I think that's the best thing, you know, I
[38:36] Speaker 20: think Steph provided for us last year. And there's been
[38:38] Speaker 20: guys that are growing in their roles, but just coming
[38:40] Speaker 20: in with that stature and his ability in his size
[38:43] Speaker 20: and just the respect that you walk in there with
[38:45] Speaker 20: that kind of Steph had.
[38:46] Speaker 1: AJ's got too respect going to the Minnesota Vikings defense
[38:51] Speaker 1: of Brian Flores. They have demanded a lot of attention
[38:53] Speaker 1: the last few years with versatile veteran defenders, one of
[38:57] Speaker 1: them being safety Josh Mattilus, who goes one on one
[39:00] Speaker 1: with Tom pellisera Josh first day in mini camp out
[39:04] Speaker 1: here the culmination of your offseason. Tell me what you
[39:06] Speaker 1: see right now with the twenty twenty six Viking.
[39:08] Speaker 3: I'm loving what I see right now.
[39:10] Speaker 21: You know, as a team, this time is a learning period,
[39:13] Speaker 21: but not only on the field. Off the field, getting
[39:15] Speaker 21: learn your teammates, long weekends, you know, you get guys
[39:17] Speaker 21: stick around, you know. So we started to spend some
[39:19] Speaker 21: quality time outside of the building with each other, building that
[39:22] Speaker 21: team chemistry, team bond, and it's showing out here on
[39:24] Speaker 21: the grass when we.
[39:24] Speaker 3: Come out here.
[39:25] Speaker 21: We're able to get quick, you know, intentional work, you know,
[39:28] Speaker 21: taking care of each other. Still but still understanding, you know,
[39:30] Speaker 21: what's that stake right now, being so early in the offseason.
[39:33] Speaker 3: But I'm liking what I'm seeing right now.
[39:36] Speaker 22: We just got to keep going defensively, you guys were
[39:38] Speaker 22: lights out towards the end of last season. I also
[39:40] Speaker 22: know a lot of that defense, the checks and the
[39:42] Speaker 22: calls went through Harrison Smith. He's not out here at
[39:45] Speaker 22: least for now. How are you guys adapting what you
[39:47] Speaker 22: do on D Yeah, I mean a big part of
[39:49] Speaker 22: it is just playing off what we did last year.
[39:51] Speaker 22: I think to finish the year as a defense, we
[39:54] Speaker 22: kind of figure out how we want to play with
[39:55] Speaker 22: the group of guys that we have in our building,
[39:58] Speaker 22: in our room.
[39:59] Speaker 3: We know we do well and we showed that at
[40:01] Speaker 3: the end of the season.
[40:02] Speaker 21: So it's all about, you know, taking that next step
[40:04] Speaker 21: and replacing you know, the guys who aren't here, and
[40:07] Speaker 21: you know, finding what can we do to you know,
[40:09] Speaker 21: take our game to the next level.
[40:11] Speaker 3: You know, Harry was a big part of that.
[40:12] Speaker 21: But you know, at the end of the day, well,
[40:14] Speaker 21: we built this defense together as a group, and you know,
[40:16] Speaker 21: we all were here to see how he handled things,
[40:18] Speaker 21: so it's easy to just throw the next man in
[40:21] Speaker 21: and get the same thing handled.
[40:22] Speaker 22: I know you saw him a couple of weeks ago.
[40:23] Speaker 22: Do you have a hint you of an inclination? Are
[40:25] Speaker 22: you doing a cell job?
[40:26] Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm doing my best sell job I can do.
[40:29] Speaker 21: By at the end of the day, you know, you
[40:30] Speaker 21: gotta let a family man be a family man right now.
[40:32] Speaker 21: All season. You know, he likes to golf, he likes
[40:34] Speaker 21: to spend time with his kids and his wife. So
[40:36] Speaker 21: you know, I'm trying to let him do him Once
[40:38] Speaker 21: that time roll around, you know, and I gotta press
[40:39] Speaker 21: a little more, I'll do my pressing, but hey, he's
[40:42] Speaker 21: his own person.
[40:43] Speaker 22: I let him be the other side of the ball.
[40:45] Speaker 22: You got Kyler Murray, JJ McCarthy out here. It looked
[40:47] Speaker 22: from today it was pretty much a split in terms
[40:50] Speaker 22: of the reps. What are you seeing in that competition
[40:52] Speaker 22: for those guys, two.
[40:53] Speaker 3: Guys getting better? I think, you know, as DB's we
[40:56] Speaker 3: we love competition.
[40:58] Speaker 21: You know, we love that one on one you know,
[41:00] Speaker 21: feel kind of thing where you got to step up
[41:01] Speaker 21: to the plate knowing you know it's on you. And
[41:04] Speaker 21: I think in that quarterback room right now, you got
[41:06] Speaker 21: not even just those two guys, but the whole room.
[41:08] Speaker 21: You know, you got guys who can play ball, and
[41:10] Speaker 21: you got guys who are pushing each other day in
[41:12] Speaker 21: and day out, whether that's coming in split reps, whether
[41:15] Speaker 21: that's in our little two spot walkthroughs or.
[41:17] Speaker 3: Whatever you want to call them.
[41:18] Speaker 21: You know, you see guys that are going about revs
[41:20] Speaker 21: very intentional and it's elevating the room.
[41:22] Speaker 3: And that's all we can ask for. Nice yees.
[41:25] Speaker 1: Normally, on Wednesdays we get to see Brian Baldinger. He
[41:27] Speaker 1: is on vacation and also on an elephant. This video
[41:32] Speaker 1: coming courtesy Filmed bar Brian Baldinger is Baldi on an elephant.
[41:38] Speaker 1: Jadie Batista. Look at that. He is a travel dog
[41:44] Speaker 1: that a moniker that Baldi goes by. We get to
[41:47] Speaker 1: see him there doing his travel dog thing.
[41:51] Speaker 9: I want the travel dog to be my travel agent.
[41:54] Speaker 8: Baldi takes such great Every year Baldy is on one
[41:57] Speaker 8: of these amazing trips.
[41:59] Speaker 9: Can you imagine that? I mean, I can't wait until
[42:02] Speaker 9: he gets home.
[42:05] Speaker 2: You know, I partially blame I partially blame myself on
[42:08] Speaker 2: this because I wondered the other day to myself, I
[42:11] Speaker 2: wonder what Pauli's do. We haven't seen him in a
[42:13] Speaker 2: little bit. Now I get our answer. He's on an elephant.
[42:17] Speaker 7: Yeah, Baldise, big boys just kind of knew it. Like
[42:23] Speaker 7: that's the segment that he does every year around the draft.
[42:26] Speaker 6: I think we got two more for him to break
[42:28] Speaker 6: down right here.
[42:30] Speaker 1: You just know to everybody around. He gave a spectacular
[42:35] Speaker 1: breakdown about the elephants, the way that they converted that
[42:38] Speaker 1: energy getting into that water. That's great stuff. Glad we
[42:41] Speaker 1: get to share a Baldi with the world. Honestly, what
[42:44] Speaker 1: a life. Thanks, we'll do that, Ben say,
