[0:08] Speaker 1: If you thought we'd finally have a show without speculation
[0:11] Speaker 1: about Aaron Rodgers' future, where have you been? The Steelers
[0:15] Speaker 1: and everybody else still waiting for answers again. We'll tell
[0:18] Speaker 1: you the latest tonight on what comes next for the
[0:21] Speaker 1: four time NFL MVP. The draft is over, but not
[0:26] Speaker 1: everyone has done roster shopping just yet. We will break
[0:29] Speaker 1: down what's still on the NFC East to do list
[0:32] Speaker 1: and reveal two nationally televised matchups in that division on
[0:36] Speaker 1: the twenty twenty sixth slate. There have been a ton
[0:39] Speaker 1: of changes in the AFC North already, including the Bengals
[0:42] Speaker 1: making a big trade not for that guy. That's Orlando
[0:45] Speaker 1: Brown Junior. He'll join us tonight to talk about Dexter Lawrence,
[0:49] Speaker 1: Joe Burrow, and high expectations in Cincinnati. Welcome Inside with
[0:53] Speaker 1: the Insiders, presented by Verizon alongside Judy Batista. I am
[0:58] Speaker 1: Tom Pelisero. We are one one hundred and twenty days
[1:01] Speaker 1: out from kickoff. We've already got some interesting games on
[1:06] Speaker 1: that schedule. Schedule release coverage presented by Verizon, having those
[1:10] Speaker 1: of the Cowboys. Let's start out on Thanksgiving. They'll be
[1:13] Speaker 1: hosting the division rival Eagles, just the third time that
[1:16] Speaker 1: this team, these teams have squared off judy between your
[1:20] Speaker 1: main course and your dessert. What do you make of
[1:23] Speaker 1: Eagles Cowboys a rarity on Thanksgiving Day?
[1:27] Speaker 2: It's a rarity because on Thanksgiving, I mean it's not
[1:30] Speaker 2: an exaggeration to say you could almost put your local
[1:32] Speaker 2: peewee team up against the Dallas Cowboys and draw a
[1:36] Speaker 2: huge rating for that Thanksgiving game. Everybody is sitting down
[1:40] Speaker 2: to the table. Maybe you move the dining room table
[1:43] Speaker 2: in front of the television like we do in my
[1:44] Speaker 2: family so that you can watch all the games. So
[1:47] Speaker 2: you don't schedule a blockbuster NFC East bitter division rival
[1:53] Speaker 2: against the Cowboys, except when you do like they're going
[1:56] Speaker 2: to do this year. The Eagles have won the previous
[1:58] Speaker 2: two meetings against the Cowboys on Thanksgiving. Obviously, this matchup
[2:02] Speaker 2: has everything, all kinds of superstar players, superstar quarterbacks again,
[2:08] Speaker 2: a bitter, bitter rivalry, a rebuilt Cowboys defense. This is
[2:13] Speaker 2: going to be, especially because you are coming down to
[2:15] Speaker 2: late in the season. It is almost certainly going to
[2:18] Speaker 2: have big division implications for both teams.
[2:21] Speaker 1: A blockbuster game, of course. Full schedule release coming on Thursday, night.
[2:25] Speaker 1: But this is how it goes. It's not just a night, Judy,
[2:28] Speaker 1: It's a whole week, four days of the remaining matchups
[2:32] Speaker 1: being unveiled, especially the national TV matchups. Week one, speaking
[2:36] Speaker 1: of that Revise Cowboys defense, guess why you get to
[2:39] Speaker 1: see him again prime time Sunday night football. It is
[2:42] Speaker 1: up against the New York Giants. All the changes there
[2:44] Speaker 1: with John Harbaugh now set to make his debut on
[2:48] Speaker 1: national TV. Let's welcome in r Mark Ross and Steve
[2:52] Speaker 1: Whitz to the conversation. Mark, I'll start with you Giants Cowboys.
[2:57] Speaker 1: This one's playing a lot We've seen in Week one
[2:59] Speaker 1: a ton over the years. What do you make of this?
[3:02] Speaker 1: Be the first Sunday night matchup?
[3:05] Speaker 3: Yeah, my time with the Giants, we played the Cowboys
[3:07] Speaker 3: six times on opening night we knew in the schedule
[3:09] Speaker 3: was coming out who we were playing, and Week two one.
[3:12] Speaker 1: Other time as well for good measure.
[3:14] Speaker 3: But for this game and the Giants, of course, it's
[3:16] Speaker 3: all about Harball, the new head coach, and how the.
[3:19] Speaker 1: Team will look different.
[3:20] Speaker 3: Most importantly, how that affects Jackson Dart and if he
[3:24] Speaker 3: can take that step in prime time on Opening night
[3:27] Speaker 3: to say okay, we saw the flashes as a rookie,
[3:30] Speaker 3: we saw the brilliance that you can provide, but can
[3:33] Speaker 3: we see that consistently? And also a couple of their
[3:36] Speaker 3: big playmakers will leak Neighbors coming off of an injury.
[3:40] Speaker 1: How healthy will he be?
[3:41] Speaker 3: Running back Cam Scattaboo coming off of an injury as well,
[3:46] Speaker 3: so how will he look as well? Then also the
[3:48] Speaker 3: new additions like in Isaiah likely so the offense as
[3:51] Speaker 3: a whole with Harball there, how the team will look different.
[3:54] Speaker 3: But most importantly they're young playmakers Steve, how they will
[3:58] Speaker 3: fare against that revel Cowboys defense.
[4:01] Speaker 4: But really good stuff and all that, But something you
[4:03] Speaker 4: skipped over when you started this off you said you
[4:05] Speaker 4: played the Cowboys six times in the opening.
[4:07] Speaker 1: What's the record in those games? I gotta check out that.
[4:11] Speaker 1: On the step I think it was pretty good though,
[4:14] Speaker 1: I think it was pretty good.
[4:16] Speaker 4: Well, I'll tell you this, Dallas has owned the season opening.
[4:19] Speaker 1: Seriously.
[4:19] Speaker 4: I think the Cowboys went eleven of the last twelve
[4:22] Speaker 4: against the Giants. So you know it is a new
[4:24] Speaker 4: day if John Harbaugh gets these Giants to start the
[4:27] Speaker 4: season with the victory over the Cowboys. That both these
[4:29] Speaker 4: teams were not good last year Dallas seven to nine
[4:31] Speaker 4: and won the Giants four to thirteen. For Dallas, it
[4:34] Speaker 4: comes down to the defense. Mark you just talked about
[4:35] Speaker 4: all the weapons that the Giants have on offense with
[4:38] Speaker 4: Dallas has spent since it got rid of Michael Parsons
[4:40] Speaker 4: so much time fortifying its defensive front, you know, adding
[4:43] Speaker 4: Mashaun Geary and Kenny Clark, after getting Quinton Williams on.
[4:46] Speaker 1: That defensive line.
[4:47] Speaker 4: Last year, they draft Malachi Lawrence, you see him right there,
[4:50] Speaker 4: the edge rusher in the first round. So that's gonna
[4:53] Speaker 4: be a big part of it. But also in the secondary,
[4:56] Speaker 4: getting someone like Caleb Downs, the nickel safety you just
[4:59] Speaker 4: talked about, the all right to adding Isaiah likely for
[5:02] Speaker 4: players like that. This is where now they've got a
[5:04] Speaker 4: player who can spy be Caleb Downs, be at Jackson
[5:06] Speaker 4: Dart a bunch of rollout situations. So again, the Cowboys
[5:10] Speaker 4: defense is really going to tell the tale a lot.
[5:12] Speaker 4: It's early in the season. Both these teams should be healthy.
[5:15] Speaker 4: We know the Cowboys can score, but the Giants have
[5:17] Speaker 4: a lot of weapons. This could be a very, very
[5:20] Speaker 4: exciting game as both teams are still trying to figure
[5:23] Speaker 4: out their identities on their weakest sides of the ball.
[5:27] Speaker 2: These teams have played eight of the last fifteen season
[5:30] Speaker 2: opening weekends. That's how often the NFL goes to this matchup.
[5:35] Speaker 2: I got to tell you, though, I was sitting at
[5:37] Speaker 2: John Harbough's press conference introductory press conference. Mike Garafalo was
[5:40] Speaker 2: there too, and there were dozens and dozens of reporters
[5:44] Speaker 2: and cameras there to cover it, and I was sitting
[5:46] Speaker 2: there thinking, this feels like the New York Giants are back,
[5:50] Speaker 2: like they are back to being relevant and interesting and compelling,
[5:54] Speaker 2: And putting this game in the opening Sunday night slot
[5:58] Speaker 2: tells you that's what the thinks about the Giants too,
[6:02] Speaker 2: because the Giants have not been very competitive in the
[6:05] Speaker 2: last few years. They haven't been very compelling in the
[6:08] Speaker 2: last few years. Now they are both not just because
[6:11] Speaker 2: of John Harbaugh, because of Jackson Dart and Camp Scataboo
[6:14] Speaker 2: and Malik Neighbors, and because of the draft class they
[6:17] Speaker 2: just got done selecting. This tells you that the NFL
[6:21] Speaker 2: believes that the Giants are on the way back up
[6:24] Speaker 2: and they want to put a blockbuster matchup in that
[6:27] Speaker 2: first Sunday slot. It always draws big ratings. You get
[6:31] Speaker 2: the New York market back into it. It is a
[6:33] Speaker 2: huge draw for the NFL to have the Giants and
[6:36] Speaker 2: the Cowboys back.
[6:38] Speaker 1: Mark Steve our Research FARMA did check eleven meetings in
[6:41] Speaker 1: Week one between the Giants and the Cowboys. Cowboys are
[6:44] Speaker 1: ten and one in those games. Hey, get ready for
[6:46] Speaker 1: the twenty twenty six NFL season. I was there for
[6:50] Speaker 1: the last six release. Highly anticipated twenty twenty six NFL
[6:56] Speaker 1: schedule release Every rivalry ever reimatgined every rookie debut with
[6:59] Speaker 1: matchup locked and kickoffs confirmed. Catch every camp miss moment.
[7:03] Speaker 1: NFL schedule release on NFL Network, ESPN and the ESPN
[7:06] Speaker 1: app Thursday at eight pm Eastern Time. Who will be
[7:12] Speaker 1: on the field for the Steelers in Week one? Well,
[7:14] Speaker 1: at quarterback you guessed it. Still don't know. Aaron Rodgers
[7:18] Speaker 1: and the Steelers did not meet over the weekend. They
[7:21] Speaker 1: have had a lot of phone conversations zooms, facetimes. There's
[7:26] Speaker 1: been a lot of conversation between the Steelers and Rogers agent.
[7:29] Speaker 1: They've talked numbers, deal not in place, commitment not there.
[7:33] Speaker 1: Ota start one week from today. That would be a
[7:36] Speaker 1: pretty good time to show up. They didn't get a
[7:38] Speaker 1: deal done with a kicker, Chris Boswell, that's right, that's
[7:42] Speaker 1: your big news. Steelers fans agreed. It turns on a
[7:44] Speaker 1: four year, twenty eight million dollar extension seven million dollar
[7:47] Speaker 1: average per year, matching Brandon Aubrey of the Cowboys for
[7:51] Speaker 1: the highest paid in NFL history. He has been an
[7:57] Speaker 1: All American, a Super Bowl champ, a four time Pro Bowler,
[8:01] Speaker 1: and now Orlando Brown Junior can add another distinction to
[8:04] Speaker 1: his resume twenty twenty six breakthrough T one D Cincinnatian
[8:09] Speaker 1: of the Year. We're pleased be joined right now by
[8:12] Speaker 1: Orlando Brown Junior. Orlando, great to see you as always. Man,
[8:17] Speaker 1: Tell me about this honor. You've done so much work
[8:19] Speaker 1: with that organization people with type one diabetes. What did
[8:22] Speaker 1: all this get to celebrated me?
[8:24] Speaker 5: To you?
[8:25] Speaker 6: I'm then so much man. You know, for me, it's
[8:27] Speaker 6: a cause that hits close to home. And you know
[8:31] Speaker 6: my brother being diagnosed at eight years old with type
[8:34] Speaker 6: one diabetes. We're a year a part of a year older.
[8:37] Speaker 6: I was nine years old when we found out about him,
[8:39] Speaker 6: and my dad passed away with keto acidosis, which is
[8:42] Speaker 6: a form of a diabetic coma and if he had
[8:46] Speaker 6: known that that he was diabetic, type one diabetic is
[8:49] Speaker 6: something we would have been able to prevent. And so
[8:52] Speaker 6: my work is more so centered around being able to
[8:55] Speaker 6: help shine a positive light on it, allowing others to
[8:59] Speaker 6: know and other family members to know they're not alone.
[9:02] Speaker 6: You know, it's it's very serious.
[9:05] Speaker 1: Man.
[9:05] Speaker 6: I saw the waited and the effect that it had
[9:07] Speaker 6: on my family. You know, my mom especially, Man. I
[9:10] Speaker 6: don't know if she slept those first five years of
[9:12] Speaker 6: his diagnosis, and so, you know, I think for me, man,
[9:16] Speaker 6: just giving that giving back, given the opportunity to shed
[9:20] Speaker 6: a positive light on those that deal with it, man,
[9:22] Speaker 6: and to help preventative measure to be taken.
[9:27] Speaker 1: Great work.
[9:27] Speaker 2: Let's turn our attention to football, because it's been a
[9:30] Speaker 2: really active off season for the Cincinnati Bengals, a lot
[9:34] Speaker 2: of it on the defensive side. Of course, dex Nawnce
[9:36] Speaker 2: is the big headline, but there were a lot of moves,
[9:39] Speaker 2: a lot of changes on the defensive side of the ball.
[9:42] Speaker 2: When you're an offensive lineman and you're watching that happen
[9:45] Speaker 2: on the defensive line, what are you thinking, how do
[9:48] Speaker 2: you feel about all those changes?
[9:50] Speaker 1: Excited?
[9:51] Speaker 6: Man, I'm excited. And to be honest, it's not even
[9:53] Speaker 6: just about the talent, you know, it's the type of
[9:56] Speaker 6: minute they brought in to me that speak volumes.
[9:59] Speaker 7: Man.
[9:59] Speaker 6: I just from DECKX to you know, Boy and Montfe,
[10:03] Speaker 6: Brian Cook, all of these dudes, man, But their leaders,
[10:06] Speaker 6: their winners. It's important to them. They love the game
[10:09] Speaker 6: of football and everything that it brings.
[10:11] Speaker 8: Man.
[10:11] Speaker 6: And so just the idea that you know, not only
[10:15] Speaker 6: did we get better from a talent standpoint, we brought
[10:17] Speaker 6: in great men and that's so important when you building
[10:20] Speaker 6: a football team and trying to establish a winning culture.
[10:23] Speaker 1: Man.
[10:23] Speaker 6: So I look forward to being able to get to
[10:25] Speaker 6: work with these man.
[10:28] Speaker 1: I heard your reaction right there when Judy mentioned Dexter Lawrence.
[10:31] Speaker 1: This doesn't happen with the Bengals. They don't make trades.
[10:33] Speaker 1: Must less for any top ten draft picks to go
[10:36] Speaker 1: and get a veteran. This guy's been a pro bowler,
[10:38] Speaker 1: He's been one of the best when he's at his
[10:40] Speaker 1: best in the game. Him specifically, what was your reaction
[10:43] Speaker 1: when you found out the Bengals had actually done this
[10:46] Speaker 1: and what does he bring on the field.
[10:48] Speaker 6: I would sucked, man, you know, honestly, because guys like
[10:51] Speaker 6: that really don't even become available. That's really the crazy
[10:55] Speaker 6: part to me. And I'm just thankful he ended up
[10:57] Speaker 6: here because there's no telling what would have happened. He
[11:00] Speaker 6: would have been at a divisional arrival. Man, But he
[11:03] Speaker 6: just brings such great positive juice to, you know, a
[11:06] Speaker 6: locker room that was somewhat missing that on that side
[11:08] Speaker 6: of the ball.
[11:09] Speaker 1: Man A leader.
[11:10] Speaker 6: As I mentioned, Man, he loves the game of football,
[11:12] Speaker 6: and you know, he's just so fit for what we
[11:16] Speaker 6: are and what it means to be a bangle.
[11:17] Speaker 1: I was.
[11:18] Speaker 6: I was so fired up when we got him, knowing
[11:19] Speaker 6: every in the trade went through. I was actually able
[11:21] Speaker 6: to have dinner with him on that Sunday. I think
[11:24] Speaker 6: the deal went through on that Saturday.
[11:26] Speaker 7: Man.
[11:26] Speaker 1: So I was fired up.
[11:27] Speaker 6: I'm still fired up, to be honest. I can't wait
[11:29] Speaker 6: to wait to see him.
[11:30] Speaker 1: Out there Week one.
[11:33] Speaker 2: Joe Borrow towards the end of last year, like mid December,
[11:36] Speaker 2: in talking to media, it sounded notably frustrated and certainly
[11:40] Speaker 2: with his own injuries and with the way the season
[11:42] Speaker 2: had gone. It obviously didn't go the way you guys
[11:44] Speaker 2: had hoped at the very beginning. What kind of sense
[11:47] Speaker 2: do you get of where Joe's head is right now
[11:50] Speaker 2: and how he's approaching twenty twenty six.
[11:53] Speaker 6: Yeah, I think Joe's in a great spot, man. I
[11:55] Speaker 6: think I think Joe is extremely excited. He's ready to go.
[12:00] Speaker 6: You know, I remember that that interview that he had
[12:02] Speaker 6: that day. I think he actually might have been his birthday.
[12:04] Speaker 6: And to be honest, he's not a big birthday god,
[12:07] Speaker 6: So you know, I might have caught him at a
[12:08] Speaker 6: bad time. But I will tell you, man, nobody, nobody
[12:11] Speaker 6: loves winning more than Joey b So you know, man,
[12:15] Speaker 6: Like I said, these moves helped put us in great
[12:16] Speaker 6: position overall as a team. And you know, I just
[12:19] Speaker 6: look forward to being able to go out there and
[12:21] Speaker 6: do my job keeping him clean, score some points and
[12:23] Speaker 6: win some football games.
[12:25] Speaker 1: It's so funny because the only Joe Burrow we see
[12:27] Speaker 1: at this time of year Orlando is the guy who's
[12:30] Speaker 1: showing up in funky outfits to like galas and horse
[12:33] Speaker 1: rays and things like that. We all know Joseph serial
[12:35] Speaker 1: killer when he actually gets on the field, if he's healthy,
[12:38] Speaker 1: which has been the biggest issue for a number of
[12:40] Speaker 1: years now for Joe, How good can this Bengals team
[12:43] Speaker 1: be in twenty twenty six.
[12:46] Speaker 6: Oh great, man. I mean, you know, Joe, Joe has
[12:48] Speaker 6: a lot of pressure on him, more so than most
[12:50] Speaker 6: other quarterbacks because of our system. And you know, the
[12:53] Speaker 6: ball is in his hand a lot, and he has
[12:55] Speaker 6: to make decisions a lot. And you know that's that's
[12:58] Speaker 6: believe it or not. Man, it's extremely rare. It just
[13:01] Speaker 6: based off of the way that we call the game.
[13:03] Speaker 6: And so, uh, you know, he's he's locked in. I
[13:06] Speaker 6: will tell you at all times. Man, even probably got
[13:08] Speaker 6: to Kentucky Derby. He's thinking about how to get Ja
[13:10] Speaker 6: more open. So that's just who he is.
[13:16] Speaker 2: We got the schedule release coming up here in a
[13:18] Speaker 2: few days. You obviously have known the opponents now for
[13:21] Speaker 2: a while. But as a player, what are you looking
[13:24] Speaker 2: for when this schedule comes out?
[13:27] Speaker 1: What are you hoping for? What are you dreading?
[13:30] Speaker 6: I don't really have any dreads. I just will tell
[13:32] Speaker 6: you I love playning prom time man, and you know,
[13:35] Speaker 6: we got a lot of star power. I think it's
[13:38] Speaker 6: time we get a little bit more prom Time games.
[13:40] Speaker 6: So that's that's what I look forward to, man. Hopefully
[13:43] Speaker 6: hopefully we get some more.
[13:46] Speaker 1: Oh ha a congratulations Man on a big honor for
[13:49] Speaker 1: you the breakthrough Cincinnati and of the year you do
[13:52] Speaker 1: fantastic work in the community. Always a pleasure having you
[13:55] Speaker 1: on the show Man, Thanks for.
[13:56] Speaker 7: Being here, of course, thank you guys for having me off.
[14:00] Speaker 7: Is that over just yet? What is still to be
[14:02] Speaker 7: done in the NFC East will break that down and
[14:06] Speaker 7: also unveil another primetime game of the twenty twenty sixth schedule.
[14:10] Speaker 7: Stick around news after this on The Insiders.
[14:19] Speaker 1: Another big game just revealed by the NFL, the first
[14:24] Speaker 1: ever at the new High March Stadium in Orchard Park,
[14:27] Speaker 1: New York, will feature the Bills against the Lions. It's
[14:29] Speaker 1: the twenty twenty sixth debut of Thursday Night Football on
[14:33] Speaker 1: Prime seven, September seventeenth, Lions and Bills. Joe Brady's home
[14:38] Speaker 1: debut as the head coach. Another good one ahead of
[14:41] Speaker 1: the full release of the twenty twenty six NFL schedule.
[14:44] Speaker 1: Every rivalry, every rematch, every rookie debut, matchups locked, kickoffs confirmed,
[14:50] Speaker 1: catch every camp miss moment. It's the NFL schedule release
[14:52] Speaker 1: on NFL Network, ESPN and the ESPN app Thursday, eight
[14:57] Speaker 1: pm Eastern Time. Week one, There'll be the Cowboys at
[15:02] Speaker 1: the Giants. That is Sunday Night Football September thirteenth, another
[15:06] Speaker 1: the one of the games officially confirmed earlier on today,
[15:10] Speaker 1: as we turn our attention to the NFC East for
[15:14] Speaker 1: the off season to do list and welcome in our
[15:17] Speaker 1: Jane Slater down there in Dallas, Jane, every year seems
[15:21] Speaker 1: like an eventful year for the Cowboys through the course
[15:23] Speaker 1: of the off season, and every year it seems like
[15:26] Speaker 1: we've got one big item still on the to do list.
[15:28] Speaker 1: Break it down for me, it's May. What do we
[15:30] Speaker 1: still got to do in Dallas?
[15:32] Speaker 9: Judy, Tom, I know you both enjoy this as you
[15:35] Speaker 9: write up pieces yourselves, but I love too early talk.
[15:38] Speaker 9: But in this case with the Cowboys, there are things
[15:41] Speaker 9: that I think are very important for them as they
[15:43] Speaker 9: move through ots and at least through training camp. And
[15:46] Speaker 9: the most obvious one is getting a handle of this
[15:48] Speaker 9: defensive playbook. And that's because if you looked at this
[15:51] Speaker 9: team last year, they were slow to figure it out.
[15:53] Speaker 9: Now that didn't have to do exclusively with Matt Eberfluc
[15:56] Speaker 9: and a system and how to do with you didn't know.
[15:58] Speaker 10: The personnel you were working with. You were rolling the.
[16:01] Speaker 9: Dice on some guys that were coming back from injuries
[16:04] Speaker 9: or you had free agents in the building. Under new
[16:06] Speaker 9: defensive coordinator Christian Parker, this is going to be a
[16:09] Speaker 9: much more multiple defense. There's going to be a lot
[16:11] Speaker 9: of pre snapt motion, there's going to be a lot
[16:13] Speaker 9: of different fits. They're going to be moving players around more,
[16:17] Speaker 9: and typically when you're unfamiliar with the scheme.
[16:19] Speaker 10: I saw this than Mike Nolan here.
[16:21] Speaker 9: When Mike McCarthy came in and they were teaching this
[16:23] Speaker 9: new exotic multiple front defense online didn't quite pan out.
[16:28] Speaker 9: And that's because for players, when you have to think
[16:30] Speaker 9: about these things too much, it results in hesitation. So
[16:33] Speaker 9: I would say the biggest factor is figure out this
[16:36] Speaker 9: playbook early and often.
[16:38] Speaker 10: I think that's also why you saw them.
[16:40] Speaker 9: They didn't go after a lot of injured players, and
[16:43] Speaker 9: the players that they do have in this system they fit.
[16:45] Speaker 9: You saw them move away from Osa Digizua, who was
[16:48] Speaker 9: loved in the locker room. He was just kind of
[16:50] Speaker 9: the odd man out when they started talking to him
[16:52] Speaker 9: about four. I so the biggest thing here is you've
[16:56] Speaker 9: got young pieces learning new terminology, veterans adjusting to different responsibility,
[17:00] Speaker 9: and somebody has to emerge as your green dot communicator.
[17:03] Speaker 9: We typically don't talk about the green dot a lot,
[17:06] Speaker 9: but for whatever reason, it is the biggest topic in Dallas.
[17:09] Speaker 9: Who is going to wear the green dot? And Shoddy
[17:12] Speaker 9: and Christian Parker have multiple times sold you they're working
[17:14] Speaker 9: through these things. Look, guys, it's early, but I will
[17:16] Speaker 9: say September comes early. Things can get ugly fast as
[17:20] Speaker 9: we start seeing this schedule get out here. You're facing
[17:23] Speaker 9: opponents week one, a divisional opponent in the Giants. Don't
[17:27] Speaker 9: lose the game because you haven't figured out what your
[17:30] Speaker 9: deference is supposed to do, where they're supposed to line up,
[17:33] Speaker 9: and how they're supposed to communicate.
[17:35] Speaker 2: Right, Jane, the Cowboys always do everything bigger than everybody else,
[17:39] Speaker 2: So they don't have just one top priority.
[17:41] Speaker 1: They have two top priorities. What's the other one?
[17:45] Speaker 9: Get George Pickens in the building. Guys, Look, this thing
[17:48] Speaker 9: is still so interesting to me and how it's moving.
[17:51] Speaker 9: I did report that, you know a couple of months
[17:54] Speaker 9: or a month or two ago, when you guys asked me,
[17:56] Speaker 9: is this.
[17:56] Speaker 10: Thing going to be a problem?
[17:58] Speaker 1: I don't know.
[17:59] Speaker 9: I mean, he's out, he signed his franchise tag, he
[18:02] Speaker 9: hasn't showed up yet. But keep in mind these are
[18:05] Speaker 9: voluntary at this point. But if you follow either Cede
[18:09] Speaker 9: Lamb or George Pickens on social media, you'll know that
[18:12] Speaker 9: these guys are hanging out a lot in the off season.
[18:16] Speaker 9: The biggest thing that we're talking about here, see it's.
[18:17] Speaker 10: On our bottom line. Get him in the building early
[18:20] Speaker 10: to build chemistry at the offense. Well, the most important
[18:22] Speaker 10: guy for him to build.
[18:23] Speaker 9: Chemistry with is not only Ceedee Lamb, but Dak Prescott.
[18:27] Speaker 9: If you listen to Brian Schottenheimer, he clearly has a
[18:30] Speaker 9: way of communicating with George. My relationship with George and
[18:33] Speaker 9: getting to know him here in Dallas has been very
[18:35] Speaker 9: different than what people said about him outside the building.
[18:38] Speaker 9: Maybe that was just your one, but I found him
[18:41] Speaker 9: to be sensible. I found him to be interested in
[18:43] Speaker 9: this team, interested in being there for his teammates. So
[18:47] Speaker 9: let's see if that translates to him showing up. But
[18:50] Speaker 9: they need George Pickens in here early. If they're trying
[18:52] Speaker 9: to get the defense on the same page. It helps
[18:53] Speaker 9: to have all those offensive players there as well, establish
[18:57] Speaker 9: a chemistry, don't have distractions. In defense of the Cowboys
[19:01] Speaker 9: front office, They have done a lot of things in
[19:04] Speaker 9: this offseason, even before we got to the draft, of
[19:07] Speaker 9: trying to mitigate the distractions by moving players on that
[19:11] Speaker 9: didn't make sense for their schemes, for signing guys that made.
[19:14] Speaker 10: More sense for plug and play. And so now that
[19:17] Speaker 10: they've done their due diligence, let's hope that the players
[19:19] Speaker 10: do theirs.
[19:21] Speaker 1: Jane, thank you very much. Flip side of that Sunday
[19:23] Speaker 1: night football match been week one of the New York Giants,
[19:26] Speaker 1: who have also had an eventful offseason. Here's Joe Shane
[19:29] Speaker 1: and John Arba doing the old middle school football team
[19:34] Speaker 1: pos right there. Everybody, just hold your hands a position
[19:37] Speaker 1: you will never stand in except for right now. I've
[19:40] Speaker 1: been a lot of activity Clinton defensive tackle where they
[19:42] Speaker 1: didn't just trade de Extra Lawrence, they added some guys
[19:44] Speaker 1: as well. Last book to you, guys made some moves
[19:48] Speaker 1: at defensive tackle. DJ Shelby Pickens. What do you think
[19:52] Speaker 1: of what you guys have done there since the draft?
[19:54] Speaker 11: I found I'm very happy about it. You know, I
[19:56] Speaker 11: felt like it was part of our process. You know,
[19:59] Speaker 11: it's not that we have drafted a defensive tackle or
[20:02] Speaker 11: signed one sooner if they'd become available or or kept
[20:04] Speaker 11: dexter if that was something we could do. Those are
[20:07] Speaker 11: all things that are on the table. But as it went,
[20:10] Speaker 11: I thought we did a good job of kind of
[20:12] Speaker 11: responding to the situation as it unfolded. And now we
[20:16] Speaker 11: feel really good about our group in there. Our room
[20:18] Speaker 11: looks good to me. I'm excited about it. I think
[20:20] Speaker 11: we've got the guys we need.
[20:23] Speaker 1: Let's bring Mark Ross Steve Which back into the conversation here. Mark,
[20:26] Speaker 1: it's always fun with the new head coaches. You've basically
[20:28] Speaker 1: got an eight month victory tour. We got it, we
[20:31] Speaker 1: figured it out new day. Then he played games since
[20:34] Speaker 1: September and they start right off with the Dallas Cowboys. Here.
[20:37] Speaker 1: What's left in your mind to do for the Giants?
[20:40] Speaker 3: You're right, Tom, everybody's winning when you hire a new
[20:43] Speaker 3: coach and then reality strikes.
[20:45] Speaker 1: But for the Giants, it's it's really about learning.
[20:47] Speaker 3: And it's not just John Harball in there and how
[20:50] Speaker 3: he's going to put his stamp, but the whole entire
[20:52] Speaker 3: staff is new, and that's offensive coordinator Matt Naggie and
[20:55] Speaker 3: defensive coordinator Denard Wilson. So it also special teams coordinator Chris,
[21:00] Speaker 3: So it's just the learning aspect for all of the
[21:03] Speaker 3: players who were already on the team and had to
[21:06] Speaker 3: already learn the schemes from the past, and then of
[21:08] Speaker 3: course the rookies as well and the.
[21:10] Speaker 1: Free agents who came in for other teams.
[21:12] Speaker 3: So the to do list is to try to get
[21:14] Speaker 3: acclimated and comfortable as much as possible with the schemes
[21:18] Speaker 3: with one another, with your new teammates, and of course
[21:21] Speaker 3: you have a lot of time to do that, Steve,
[21:23] Speaker 3: but that's definitely the key aspect for any team that
[21:26] Speaker 3: brings in a head coach. People forget it's the whole
[21:29] Speaker 3: entire staff and a whole new way of getting taught
[21:32] Speaker 3: from these coaches.
[21:33] Speaker 4: That's such a great point mark that often goes overlook
[21:36] Speaker 4: and you make a transition like this. But also one
[21:38] Speaker 4: thing that would need to be taken note of is
[21:40] Speaker 4: what were John Harbaugh's Baltimore teams known for their defense?
[21:43] Speaker 4: And right now it is time for the Giants to
[21:46] Speaker 4: kind of put their mouth with their money. Is when
[21:48] Speaker 4: it comes to defense. You just heard John Harbaugh talk
[21:50] Speaker 4: about the guys up front. They go out and they
[21:52] Speaker 4: get DJ Reeder, they get Shelby Harris. This is after
[21:55] Speaker 4: they trade away Dexter Lawrence. So how good are those
[21:58] Speaker 4: veteran players going to be? What's this new scheme that
[22:01] Speaker 4: they're coming down that they're getting ready to play with
[22:03] Speaker 4: Dennard Wilson, who is a former Ravens coach, you know,
[22:06] Speaker 4: defensive coach. They've got Abdull Carter, They've got some of
[22:09] Speaker 4: these younger players from last year. How are they going
[22:12] Speaker 4: to fit them into this scheme? So, Mark, you talked
[22:14] Speaker 4: about the learning of it. People want them to learn,
[22:17] Speaker 4: but they want them to learn at an accelerated level
[22:20] Speaker 4: because they saw how bad things were this year. They
[22:22] Speaker 4: had two first round draft picks. They want to go
[22:24] Speaker 4: ahead and get these guys going, especially Arvil Reeves, the
[22:27] Speaker 4: guy on the defense is going to play off ball,
[22:29] Speaker 4: the linebacker that can do a lot of things with them.
[22:31] Speaker 4: So it's going to be learning for all the coaches
[22:33] Speaker 4: and the players. But again, I think defensively upfront, when
[22:36] Speaker 4: it comes to a John Harbaugh football team, this is
[22:38] Speaker 4: where they need to make their money. They need to
[22:41] Speaker 4: put their mouth where their money is.
[22:44] Speaker 2: I think it's really simple what the Giants still have
[22:46] Speaker 2: to do. They have to pull it all together there
[22:49] Speaker 2: is as much optimism and renewed confidence around the New
[22:52] Speaker 2: York Giants as there has been in years in East Rutherford.
[22:57] Speaker 2: But now they've got to pull it all together. They've
[22:59] Speaker 2: got a lot, a lot of new players. John Harper
[23:01] Speaker 2: has changed so much in that building. Is it all
[23:04] Speaker 2: going to come together? Are they going to get off
[23:06] Speaker 2: to a fast start? They've gotten into holes early in
[23:08] Speaker 2: the last few seasons. Can he change that part of
[23:12] Speaker 2: the Giants experience as well? That is what we are
[23:14] Speaker 2: going to be watching early in the season. All right, Steve,
[23:18] Speaker 2: Let's turn our attention to the rest of the NFC East.
[23:21] Speaker 2: Let's start with the Commanders, because they would like to
[23:23] Speaker 2: change direction.
[23:23] Speaker 1: From where they were going last year.
[23:25] Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm talking to somebody who used to be with
[23:27] Speaker 4: the franchise. You know they talked about how quarterback Jade
[23:29] Speaker 4: and Daniels covered up so many of their flaws. Well,
[23:31] Speaker 4: he's back and they've tried to address personnel wise some
[23:35] Speaker 4: of their flaws. With one area right now where it
[23:37] Speaker 4: still seems like they're a little bit exposed. Is explosive.
[23:39] Speaker 4: This a wide receiver. You've got Terry McLaurin, but you
[23:42] Speaker 4: really don't have a whole lot of juice in the
[23:44] Speaker 4: other spots, and they drafted Antonio Williams. He's kind of
[23:47] Speaker 4: their new Deebo Samuel type of player out of Clemson,
[23:50] Speaker 4: a really exciting player.
[23:51] Speaker 1: Or you look at the free agis out there, someone
[23:53] Speaker 1: like Stefan Dix.
[23:54] Speaker 4: He continues to be linked to the Commanders one because
[23:56] Speaker 4: he fills an area of need. He's also a DMV guy.
[24:00] Speaker 4: He's from that area, so he could help out. So
[24:02] Speaker 4: that's another player they should look at. But when you
[24:05] Speaker 4: look at the lack of explosions, even a running back,
[24:08] Speaker 4: right you got Bill Cross, Gay Merit. They add were
[24:10] Speaker 4: shot white from Tampa. But these are still not the
[24:13] Speaker 4: explosive type of hitters that you kind of need for.
[24:16] Speaker 4: Who could turn a six yard game into a sixteen
[24:18] Speaker 4: yard game in today's NFL.
[24:20] Speaker 1: Mark Well, Steve, I'm gonna go on the other side
[24:22] Speaker 1: of the ball.
[24:22] Speaker 3: You talk about the Giants putting their mouth where the
[24:25] Speaker 3: money is where the Commander's defense spent three hundred and
[24:28] Speaker 3: fifteen million dollars mostly on the defensive side of the
[24:31] Speaker 3: ball in free agency to a defense that was abysmal
[24:34] Speaker 3: last year, last in the league in yards giving up
[24:37] Speaker 3: and twenty eighth in points per game at twenty six
[24:40] Speaker 3: point nine, so they got nowhere to go but up.
[24:42] Speaker 3: But also they spent a ton of money on a
[24:44] Speaker 3: Dafe oh Way and Kalevan Chasen and Leo Chanall and
[24:48] Speaker 3: Amik Roberson and Nick Cross, So at all levels of
[24:51] Speaker 3: the defense, they spent big money, top of the market
[24:54] Speaker 3: money for those guys and then turn around and drafted
[24:57] Speaker 3: Sonny Styles, the fantastic linebacker for all Io State. So
[25:01] Speaker 3: here it is, you spent a ton of money with
[25:03] Speaker 3: a bunch of pieces there, and now they have to
[25:06] Speaker 3: perform like the one thing to be together. Also, a
[25:09] Speaker 3: new defensive coordinator in there as well, talked about with
[25:11] Speaker 3: that with the Giants. So a lot of new pieces
[25:14] Speaker 3: with a new defensive coordinator. How will that all come together?
[25:17] Speaker 1: Tom pr Let's talk about the team that won this
[25:20] Speaker 1: division last year, despite how it may feel from the outside,
[25:23] Speaker 1: it's the Philadelphia Eagles. There there once again off season
[25:27] Speaker 1: to do list. Mark would certainly seem to revolver on
[25:30] Speaker 1: the guy who may not be an Eagle come June second,
[25:33] Speaker 1: can't be the guy that's just in the picture right there.
[25:35] Speaker 3: Yes, let's talk about aj Brown as we've been talking
[25:38] Speaker 3: about him forever until this is done and hopefully, you know,
[25:41] Speaker 3: June first is that date that it's looking like a
[25:44] Speaker 3: trade will happen with AJ Brown. You know, that's where
[25:47] Speaker 3: the cap hit will significantly go down from forty million
[25:50] Speaker 3: to around sixteen million of the dead cap hit there
[25:53] Speaker 3: for AJ Brown by trading him. And you know, here
[25:55] Speaker 3: living in Philadelphia, you know, it's just funny every day
[25:58] Speaker 3: just listening to the Philly fans, this saga of this
[26:01] Speaker 3: drama that's going on forever. But from a football standpoint,
[26:04] Speaker 3: it really can help the Eagles just because you're removing
[26:08] Speaker 3: the distraction. Yes, AJ Brown can still play at a
[26:11] Speaker 3: high level, as he showed, but when you're week in
[26:13] Speaker 3: and week out have to deal with the drama, Steve,
[26:16] Speaker 3: that can be additioned by subtraction. And hopefully this will
[26:20] Speaker 3: come around that June first time to see who the
[26:22] Speaker 3: trade partner is and how the Eagles will address that.
[26:24] Speaker 3: Already step one, drafting mkayle Lemon in the first round.
[26:27] Speaker 1: Of the draft. So the pavement, the road is paved
[26:30] Speaker 1: there for an exit for AJ Brown, right.
[26:32] Speaker 4: They brought it down to Dontavian Wicks as well, So
[26:34] Speaker 4: again that looks like it's going to happen. But regardless
[26:37] Speaker 4: of what that situation plays out to be, Mark, we
[26:40] Speaker 4: know the biggest thing with the Eagles is their offensive identity.
[26:43] Speaker 4: Last year was an absolute disaster. Kevin Patulo, the oci
[26:46] Speaker 4: comes out, he gets fired. You have their on line coach. So, yeah,
[26:49] Speaker 4: we had bad play calling without Seawan Manning. A first
[26:52] Speaker 4: time play caller comes in. He's got to figure out
[26:55] Speaker 4: the identity. And this is somebody who's from the Seawan McVay,
[26:58] Speaker 4: Matt Lafleur tree. So those gonna be a lot of
[27:00] Speaker 4: pre snap motion, a lot of things to determine the
[27:03] Speaker 4: post snap reeds. So but they've got to get back
[27:05] Speaker 4: to the run game. If this offensive line can stay
[27:07] Speaker 4: healthy and Saquon Barkley and the tush push becomes part
[27:10] Speaker 4: of the Eagles vernacular again, that's when their offense runs
[27:14] Speaker 4: at its most efficient and affluent, putting money where the
[27:19] Speaker 4: mouth is. That's what they've got to do, is they've
[27:20] Speaker 4: got to regain some type of identity, and it starts
[27:24] Speaker 4: with the run game and the health and the durability of.
[27:28] Speaker 1: That offensive line. Affluent offense. Say that five times vocal
[27:33] Speaker 1: warm up too. It will come on air. All right,
[27:35] Speaker 1: So more to come. AFC East offseason to the list
[27:38] Speaker 1: comes up tomorrow, but after this is sent out to
[27:40] Speaker 1: the AFC West Chargers making some bold moves in the
[27:44] Speaker 1: draft and clean adding a key Mezidor to that pass rust.
[27:47] Speaker 1: They also added a veteran playmaker earlier today. We'll break
[27:51] Speaker 1: that down next on the insiders. A big name pre
[28:01] Speaker 1: agent has landed in LA, David and Joku, the longtime
[28:05] Speaker 1: Cleveland Brown, agreeing to terms with the Chargers on a
[28:09] Speaker 1: one year deal worth up to eight million dollars, the
[28:12] Speaker 1: first splash at that position this offseason for LA, which
[28:16] Speaker 1: also added Charlie Kohlar. Here's what one of the Chargers
[28:20] Speaker 1: new tight ends had to say about the newest.
[28:23] Speaker 12: It's the NFL man, someone's always signing. There's always great players.
[28:27] Speaker 12: I'm a firm believer in that, Like good players make
[28:30] Speaker 12: the teams better, all wone gets better together like rising
[28:33] Speaker 12: tide rises all ships.
[28:34] Speaker 1: Have a lot of respect for David.
[28:36] Speaker 12: It's funny, I'm not like on social media a ton
[28:39] Speaker 12: and so someone brought up this morning and I know
[28:41] Speaker 12: what they're talking about, because I just I'm a little
[28:43] Speaker 12: jetly because I was like trying to that, I was like, oh,
[28:45] Speaker 12: sweet dude, I got so much respect for David Sawm
[28:49] Speaker 12: play Cleveland for four years. You know, he's a really
[28:51] Speaker 12: good player and nice to have another veteran presidence in
[28:54] Speaker 12: the room. It's a young room, and I respect for Ronde.
[28:57] Speaker 12: Like I'm a big believer and I'll keep saying that,
[28:59] Speaker 12: like I'm super confident in my ability to play football
[29:02] Speaker 12: and help in all that special of the game. But
[29:04] Speaker 12: also like I think humility, especially in a room like
[29:07] Speaker 12: a tight end room where you have asked you so
[29:08] Speaker 12: many things, go such a long way, and I think,
[29:11] Speaker 12: like to have more good experienced players, it's only good
[29:15] Speaker 12: for the room, and it's to make us better as
[29:17] Speaker 12: a team, make.
[29:17] Speaker 1: Us players a room.
[29:18] Speaker 12: I'm excited to work with these guys, if you knowing better.
[29:21] Speaker 1: Charlie Colar, the former Raven now teaming up with his
[29:24] Speaker 1: one time AFC North rival out there in La Welcome
[29:27] Speaker 1: back to the insiders. Tom Pilliser, Judy Matista, Mark Ross
[29:30] Speaker 1: and Steve White. Steve I'll start with you. There's always
[29:33] Speaker 1: some of these big name for agents hanging out there
[29:36] Speaker 1: after the draft trying to find a landing spot here
[29:38] Speaker 1: and Djoku for a chargers offense that wants to use
[29:42] Speaker 1: the tight ends. This is an intriguing fit.
[29:44] Speaker 4: It really is, because this is a team that didn't
[29:46] Speaker 4: use multiple tight ends.
[29:47] Speaker 1: That's a lot.
[29:48] Speaker 4: And now Mike McDaniel comes over from Miami, he's not
[29:51] Speaker 4: necessarily a multiple tight end guy either as well. You
[29:55] Speaker 4: twelve personnel, you know, one running back, two tight ends
[29:57] Speaker 4: only about eleven percent of the offensive snaps last year,
[30:00] Speaker 4: and when he came to thirteen personnel, one running back,
[30:03] Speaker 4: three tight ends he used at.
[30:04] Speaker 1: Four percent of the time.
[30:06] Speaker 4: That should significantly change because these are three different types
[30:10] Speaker 4: of tight ends. You talk about Charlie Kolar, who looks
[30:13] Speaker 4: like he spends a majority of time in his weight
[30:15] Speaker 4: room on the shrugs machine. He's a blocking tight end.
[30:18] Speaker 4: The Djokoo's an inline tight end. You can go out
[30:20] Speaker 4: and receive the ball as well. It gives you about
[30:23] Speaker 4: four or five touchdowns a year. And then to Ronde
[30:25] Speaker 4: Gatz and he's more of the flex motion, wide receiver
[30:28] Speaker 4: type tight end. So depending on the circumstances or the
[30:31] Speaker 4: opponent or the defensive matchup, they've got the option to
[30:34] Speaker 4: go as big as thirteen personnel. But again, this whole
[30:37] Speaker 4: team is changing offensive schematically talk about it last week.
[30:41] Speaker 4: This offensive line, it's now an outside run zone scheme
[30:44] Speaker 4: instead of kind of a power zone scheme, are a
[30:47] Speaker 4: power run scheme. So it's changing in a lot of
[30:49] Speaker 4: different ways. And adding someone establishes Najoku is going to
[30:52] Speaker 4: get the attention of defensive coordinators, make some personnel matchups defensively,
[30:56] Speaker 4: really tough on the Chargers.
[30:58] Speaker 1: This is just another weapon. Mark, Yeah, Steve, it's changing,
[31:01] Speaker 1: but it's getting back to what Harball likes to do. It.
[31:03] Speaker 3: If you've known about him historically, going back to Stanford
[31:07] Speaker 3: and then San Francisco, Michigan where he used two and
[31:10] Speaker 3: three tight ends all the time, and that they were
[31:13] Speaker 3: known for that when you go in there and scout
[31:15] Speaker 3: his programs and then also game plan against them in
[31:17] Speaker 3: the NFL. So this is getting back to how he
[31:20] Speaker 3: likes to play tough, hard nosed football with those multiple
[31:24] Speaker 3: bodies there. And good for Mike McDaniel for a guy
[31:27] Speaker 3: that when they met, and of course when he was
[31:29] Speaker 3: interviewing for that job, if this was part of the plan,
[31:32] Speaker 3: he's like, yep, I know, I'm used to having the
[31:33] Speaker 3: Tyreek Hills and Jalen Waddles of the world and Devin
[31:36] Speaker 3: a chance.
[31:36] Speaker 1: But I can coach this way as well.
[31:38] Speaker 3: And the best coaches that I've been around, Steve are
[31:41] Speaker 3: those that can adapt and adjust to their personnel and
[31:44] Speaker 3: not just say this is just the way I'm doing it.
[31:47] Speaker 3: An interesting nugget, though, is Mike McDaniel, bet you did
[31:50] Speaker 3: get fight for Brennan Thompson, the rookie there from Mississippi State,
[31:54] Speaker 3: he of the four two six forty at the Colebote,
[31:57] Speaker 3: I guarantee you, he said, let me just sneak one
[31:59] Speaker 3: of these guys in.
[32:00] Speaker 2: Their coach, Steve, they've got another pairing that we're all
[32:06] Speaker 2: going to be watching a team Messagor of the rookie
[32:09] Speaker 2: and Khalil Mack together.
[32:11] Speaker 1: What's that going to look like?
[32:12] Speaker 4: Well, I absolutely love this, but let's not forget about
[32:14] Speaker 4: the Chargers' best pass rusher. As we're watching greeting of
[32:18] Speaker 4: these two and that's two ly twe up Polo to
[32:20] Speaker 4: also and you know, speaking to people over there, they
[32:23] Speaker 4: can have all three of these guys on the field
[32:25] Speaker 4: at the same time because you can reduce Messidor who
[32:28] Speaker 4: you're seeing in the sweattop right there, or to or
[32:30] Speaker 4: Teoloa to inside is a tackle and have Mac coming
[32:34] Speaker 4: off one edge and one of these other guys coming
[32:36] Speaker 4: off of another edge. So the versatility of their edge
[32:39] Speaker 4: players based and then based on some of the guys
[32:42] Speaker 4: that they have stacked on the inside, they really feel
[32:45] Speaker 4: like they can do a lot of different things with
[32:48] Speaker 4: some of the personnel. Of course, they've got the ultimate
[32:50] Speaker 4: joker in Derwin James, the nickel safety, corner, linebacker, whatever
[32:53] Speaker 4: you want to call him, to mix with these guys
[32:55] Speaker 4: up front, and that versatility in the athleticism of adding
[32:58] Speaker 4: someone like Messidor who is an absolute game wrecker, is
[33:01] Speaker 4: something they feel very good about at strengthening that front seven.
[33:06] Speaker 1: You're right, see if I love the addition of Mesadora.
[33:08] Speaker 3: I thought he was the best pure pass rusher in
[33:11] Speaker 3: the draft as far as his versatility, power of the moves,
[33:15] Speaker 3: the relentlessness, and as you mentioned, the versatility, and this
[33:19] Speaker 3: is not something you're guessing at. With the versatility, You've
[33:21] Speaker 3: seen Mesador at Miami play all along the front. You've
[33:24] Speaker 3: seen Tully in college in there with the Chargers play
[33:28] Speaker 3: all along the front, and even Khalil Mack you know
[33:31] Speaker 3: they can do that with him as well. So this
[33:33] Speaker 3: is not something where they're getting a bunch of pass
[33:35] Speaker 3: rushers together and expecting guys to do something they're not
[33:38] Speaker 3: used to doing. They've done this. All three of those
[33:40] Speaker 3: guys have done that, played in multiple spots. So it
[33:43] Speaker 3: should really give them a nice little game plan to say,
[33:47] Speaker 3: where are guys coming from. Lots of stunts, lots of movement,
[33:50] Speaker 3: and guys playing in multiple gaps and positions, which should
[33:53] Speaker 3: wreck have it on that offensive game plan.
[33:56] Speaker 1: Mark, Steve, great stuff tonight, Thank you both. We will
[33:58] Speaker 1: talk to you again. So we also have sad news
[34:02] Speaker 1: tonight out of Denver. The Broncos have lost a Ring
[34:05] Speaker 1: of Famer. Former quarterback Craig Morton, who led the Broncos
[34:09] Speaker 1: to their first Super Bowl appearance, passed away on Saturday.
[34:12] Speaker 1: Morton spent six seasons with the Broncos from nineteen seventy
[34:15] Speaker 1: seven to eighty two and led Denver to its first
[34:18] Speaker 1: playoff appearance and a berth in Super Bowl twelve. Greg
[34:22] Speaker 1: Morton was eighty three.
[34:25] Speaker 2: Jet's first round tight end. Kenyon Sadiq was at a
[34:28] Speaker 2: rookie mini caamp. He is going to be a favorite
[34:31] Speaker 2: target for the Jets and he already feels like he's
[34:33] Speaker 2: very familiar with Gino Smith. Here's what he had to
[34:36] Speaker 2: say about his new quarterback.
[34:39] Speaker 8: I'm a Seahawks fan, not really anymore, but how was
[34:42] Speaker 8: a Seahawks fan being a West Coast guy, So of
[34:44] Speaker 8: course I watched some of did great things in Seattle,
[34:46] Speaker 8: and I said, he's a vet, so it'll be great
[34:48] Speaker 8: to get around him kind of, you know, pick his
[34:50] Speaker 8: band a little bit, and you know, just kind of
[34:51] Speaker 8: see how processes things.
[34:53] Speaker 1: He's been in the game for a long time, so yeah,
[34:56] Speaker 1: bo Nick's going into year three high expectations and also
[35:00] Speaker 1: so an extended rehab process, a couple surgeries to fix
[35:03] Speaker 1: that ankle that he injured in the AFC Divisional game
[35:06] Speaker 1: against Buffalo, couldn't play in the AFC Championship, but Sean
[35:09] Speaker 1: Payton says he's making progress.
[35:13] Speaker 13: I was just talking to bow We had five other
[35:14] Speaker 13: players that stage surgeries where there's a step they evaluate
[35:20] Speaker 13: and then a second step. We had five. He was
[35:22] Speaker 13: the sixth that that actually went through that. No surprises.
[35:26] Speaker 13: We feel real good about where he's at and you
[35:30] Speaker 13: guys will have a chance to see it, you know,
[35:32] Speaker 13: here in a few weeks, but clearly full speed by
[35:36] Speaker 13: training camp. We just we just want to be smart
[35:39] Speaker 13: relative to holding him back a little.
[35:43] Speaker 2: So bears the beginning Ben Johnson's second season as a
[35:48] Speaker 2: head coach. There coming off a breakout season where they
[35:51] Speaker 2: barely lost to the Rams in the divisional round, and
[35:54] Speaker 2: Ben Johnson likes what he is seeing already from this group.
[36:00] Speaker 14: Force, this offseason program and getting them integrated with the Vets.
[36:03] Speaker 14: Some of these young guys that they're going into the
[36:05] Speaker 14: second year. You know, Colston's made a big jump, Luther's
[36:08] Speaker 14: made a big jump, as you would expect, uh and
[36:11] Speaker 14: and those guys were around for most of the offseason
[36:13] Speaker 14: as well.
[36:14] Speaker 1: You know you could you could go by the weight.
[36:15] Speaker 14: Room and see them in. They're getting some work in
[36:18] Speaker 14: in February, March, and April, so I think that has
[36:21] Speaker 14: something to do with that. But now I think we
[36:24] Speaker 14: are group for one weekend. In terms of the fuel work,
[36:29] Speaker 14: I'm really pleased with what it looks like. These guys
[36:31] Speaker 14: are dialed in. They're very focused, and like we talked
[36:35] Speaker 14: about a couple of weeks ago, the whole coaching staff
[36:37] Speaker 14: is going back to the basics, and those guys are
[36:39] Speaker 14: really embracing that mindset.
[36:42] Speaker 1: Rice Young not a receiver in the first round this year.
[36:45] Speaker 1: It was a tackle Monroe freely making me walk to
[36:48] Speaker 1: his first practice of rookie mini camps. What Dave Canalis
[36:52] Speaker 1: had to say about their first rounder.
[36:55] Speaker 15: I mean, first of all, he looks great. He's been
[36:58] Speaker 15: he's been working really hard, just just trying to continue
[37:00] Speaker 15: to you know, increase his strength and do those things.
[37:05] Speaker 1: Showed up.
[37:05] Speaker 15: I think he was, you know, about three twenty five
[37:08] Speaker 15: and looked great, moved well, showed the length and all
[37:11] Speaker 15: the things, and you know, he's just got to get
[37:13] Speaker 15: comfortable with some of our schemes and concepts playing next
[37:15] Speaker 15: to a tight end who might be blocking front side
[37:18] Speaker 15: of going backside, and uh settling into some of those things.
[37:21] Speaker 1: But looks like a guy that really enjoys football. Those
[37:23] Speaker 1: are the types of guys that we love to have.
[37:24] Speaker 8: Here.
[37:26] Speaker 2: Arizona Cardinals were in a rookie camp. This is Carson
[37:29] Speaker 2: Beck to Jeremiah Love. Those are two guys we could
[37:32] Speaker 2: be hearing about it and talking about for a very
[37:34] Speaker 2: long time. But the real star of rookie camp was
[37:37] Speaker 2: a very special guest. Here is Chase Basantas on Larry Fitzgerald.
[37:42] Speaker 5: It's been amazing, man. Some of the dream come true.
[37:47] Speaker 5: It's a great organization. I feel like it's been a
[37:48] Speaker 5: great three days. I'm really happy.
[37:51] Speaker 1: So the team posts that Larry Fitzgerald was that practice.
[37:54] Speaker 1: What was it like to be one of the franchises?
[37:56] Speaker 5: Like, yeah, real cool, future Hall of Famer, give us
[37:59] Speaker 5: a little and just like what the future is going
[38:02] Speaker 5: to be like?
[38:02] Speaker 1: So real quick listening schedule. Release is set for Thursday night,
[38:08] Speaker 1: but we're already getting some tasty morsels. Let's start it
[38:11] Speaker 1: out with the Sunday Night football debut September thirteenth. It
[38:15] Speaker 1: is Cowboys Giants. Yes, they do this almost every year,
[38:18] Speaker 1: eleven week one meetings, ten Cowboys wins. Jackson dartin Company
[38:23] Speaker 1: will try to stop that from happening this year. Judy
[38:27] Speaker 1: can't wait for that and can't wait for this one.
[38:30] Speaker 2: The very first TNF game of the season is going
[38:33] Speaker 2: to open new high Mark Stadium Lions at Bill's September seventeenth.
[38:39] Speaker 1: That looks like one of the coolest stadiums we're going
[38:41] Speaker 1: to have in the league.
[38:42] Speaker 2: I cannot wait to see it, and then I'm looking
[38:48] Speaker 2: forward to seeing in Cleveland. Oh no, we're going to
[38:52] Speaker 2: this one first. Sorry, how about that?
[38:55] Speaker 1: More Cowboys Judy. Come on, you knew that was coming.
[38:58] Speaker 1: Eagles Cowboys Thanksgiving Day only the third time that they
[39:01] Speaker 1: have ever met. The last time. This is how long
[39:03] Speaker 1: it's been. Chip Kelly was the head coach of the Eagles.
[39:07] Speaker 1: There's been a few regimes, a couple of Super Bowls
[39:08] Speaker 1: since then. Eagles Cowboys with your pumpkin pie.
[39:12] Speaker 2: Judy, speaking of pumpkin, the pumpkin colored uniforms with the
[39:16] Speaker 2: Cleveland Browns. This is one of the coolest stories we
[39:18] Speaker 2: have going on right now. The Fino brothers together in
[39:21] Speaker 2: Cleveland Brown's camp. That is h Spencer the offensive tackle,
[39:26] Speaker 2: blocking Logan the pass rusher.
[39:29] Speaker 1: Here they are on being teammates. It's so cool.
[39:34] Speaker 16: I mean, there's this so you hear all these stories
[39:36] Speaker 16: of how Duzel I'll start to struggle because they feel
[39:39] Speaker 16: like they're alone, that it's hard to fill alone on
[39:42] Speaker 16: with the dude that have lived with my entire life.
[39:45] Speaker 16: Just now, he's just a few a few doors down
[39:47] Speaker 16: in the hotel. So it's it's been awesome.
[39:49] Speaker 1: Have you guys always like competed against each other and
[39:52] Speaker 1: everything is that's sort of what your relationship has been like?
[39:54] Speaker 1: Just competitive?
[39:55] Speaker 17: Oh yeah, everything, I mean we're now that we're adults,
[39:57] Speaker 17: were a little bit better about you know, not this
[40:00] Speaker 17: at the end, but I mean it's been like that.
[40:02] Speaker 17: Our whole line from arguing in the back of the cards,
[40:04] Speaker 17: getting on, playing basketball, wrestling, you name it. We competed everything.
[40:09] Speaker 1: Calm me in for the Fano Brothers reality show if
[40:12] Speaker 1: the Browns decided to go that direction, and if both
[40:14] Speaker 1: of them, namely Logan, actually make the team. Mike Dan,
[40:18] Speaker 1: a two time Super Bowl CHAMPI with the Chiefs, headed
[40:20] Speaker 1: to the Bills a one year deal. One of the
[40:23] Speaker 1: top veterans still available on the market, Dan and now
[40:26] Speaker 1: landing in Buffalo. Adrian Peterson not coming back. He played
[40:31] Speaker 1: a lot there at the end, well passed most of
[40:33] Speaker 1: the time. Most running backs would have walked away. But
[40:35] Speaker 1: that's how rare Adrian Peterson was. Now a very special honor.
[40:39] Speaker 1: He is headed into the Ring of Honor this fall
[40:43] Speaker 1: a mere pit stop on his way surely to Canton, Ohio.
[40:49] Speaker 1: This one's personal for me. Happy fourteenth birthday. Doug my Dog,
[40:54] Speaker 1: a frequent contributor, one might say, the fifth host of
[40:57] Speaker 1: the show. That's a long life there for a very
[41:00] Speaker 1: small dog who the moment that candle was blown out,
[41:03] Speaker 1: grabbed one of the treats and ran away. Because Judy,
[41:06] Speaker 1: over fourteen years, he's become conditioned to believe if he
[41:10] Speaker 1: eats anything off a plate, he's getting away with something.
[41:14] Speaker 2: First of all, what were the treats? Where they just
[41:17] Speaker 2: dog trace or did you do something special in fourteenth big?
[41:21] Speaker 1: I believe they were dog something dog related. I think
[41:25] Speaker 1: they came from a dog place. Don't want to feed
[41:27] Speaker 1: him people food. But yeah, but he's lost all of
[41:30] Speaker 1: his teeth and now he's just got that tongue that
[41:32] Speaker 1: hangs out there. He's a good puppy. We're glad to
[41:36] Speaker 1: have him. He would have made an appearance on the show,
[41:38] Speaker 1: but my wife took him out of the house because
[41:39] Speaker 1: I texted right for the show began saying, can you
[41:41] Speaker 1: stop Doug from barking? Bout to do a TV show
[41:44] Speaker 1: down here in the basement. She took that literally left
[41:47] Speaker 1: the house. I texted, can he come on the show? No,
[41:49] Speaker 1: he's not here. Doug's having a better night than I am.
[41:52] Speaker 1: I'm gonna go join him, maybe for a pump cup somewhere.
[41:54] Speaker 1: Thanks for watching, everybody, we'll see it. Happy birthday, Die.
[42:00] Speaker 3: I conducted attemt conduct, conduct
[42:05] Speaker 4: Contact, and protect conduct
