[0:08] Speaker 1: Let's dive in to the NFL report. If the Bengals
[0:12] Speaker 1: are going to chase a title, they're going to need Jamar.
[0:15] Speaker 1: Coming up on the NFL report, the latest on a
[0:17] Speaker 1: scare Tuesday in Cincinnati. Meantime, he is QB2 right now
[0:23] Speaker 1: in Vegas. But will Fernando Mendoza be QB1 for your
[0:27] Speaker 1: fantasy team by the end of the season? Lance Zerline
[0:29] Speaker 1: is here. He has some numbers that may surprise you
[0:30] Speaker 1: or maybe not.
[0:31] Speaker 2: I don't know.
[0:32] Speaker 1: Plus, Chargers linebacker Dayon Henley joins the show to tell
[0:36] Speaker 1: you why practice, not a game, is sometimes just as
[0:40] Speaker 1: much fun as the game. All now on the NFL Report.
[0:44] Speaker 1: All right, friends, let's do a show. The first one
[0:46] Speaker 1: was fun. Let's do it again. Welcome to the NFL report.
[0:50] Speaker 1: We're new. We're fun. We're on NFL channel. We're a
[0:54] Speaker 1: podcast as well. My name is Andrew Siciliano. Happy to
[0:57] Speaker 1: be with you and happy that you are with us.
[0:59] Speaker 1: We're also a podcast because it's 2026. Find us later.
[1:03] Speaker 1: Find us on YouTube. Find us everywhere. 7 p.m. Eastern time.
[1:07] Speaker 1: Any and everything you need to know coming up. We're
[1:12] Speaker 1: not working nine to five. We're only working at seven.
[1:14] Speaker 1: Coming up, will Patrick Mahomes be working in two weeks?
[1:18] Speaker 1: Here's what is news to me. In Kansas City today,
[1:23] Speaker 1: Mahomes did not guarantee anything. He didn't want to make
[1:26] Speaker 1: some bold proclamation, but the Chiefs quarterback sounded as confident
[1:30] Speaker 1: as we have heard yet this summer that, yes, he
[1:34] Speaker 1: is going to be ready to play week one back
[1:36] Speaker 1: from that ACL against the Broncos.
[1:39] Speaker 3: I haven't missed any reps, you know, getting to go
[1:41] Speaker 3: out there day after day and kind of have the
[1:44] Speaker 3: grind of a camp, you know. I mean, that can
[1:46] Speaker 3: even be harder than the season, you know, just wear
[1:48] Speaker 3: and tear on your body and going back out there
[1:50] Speaker 3: and doing it again the next day. And so it's
[1:53] Speaker 3: been awesome for me to be able to go out
[1:55] Speaker 3: there and do that.
[1:56] Speaker 1: I'm excited.
[1:56] Speaker 3: I didn't know if I was going to have to
[1:57] Speaker 3: take days off and stuff like that, but my body's
[1:59] Speaker 3: responded the right way. And so I haven't had to
[2:01] Speaker 3: miss anything other than the preseason games. But even for those,
[2:04] Speaker 3: I'm going through the warm-up process, trying to make myself prepared.
[2:07] Speaker 3: And so I just don't get the one series or
[2:09] Speaker 3: whatever it would be. But other than that, I've done
[2:11] Speaker 3: every single rep.
[2:13] Speaker 1: So you're telling me there's a chance. Mahomes, remember, it
[2:15] Speaker 1: was an ACL back in December. Kenneth Walker, meantime, has
[2:18] Speaker 1: a foot, although it is not thought to be serious.
[2:21] Speaker 1: Walker didn't practice, though, Tuesday in Kansas City. That is notable.
[2:24] Speaker 1: He made his preseason debut last week, and the Chiefs
[2:27] Speaker 1: play his former team, the Seahawks. in their preseason finale
[2:31] Speaker 1: coming up on Friday night. All right, let's get to Jamar.
[2:34] Speaker 1: And here's the headline. Let's get out of the way.
[2:35] Speaker 1: Jamar Chase is okay. But look at this. The Bengals
[2:39] Speaker 1: got a scare today. Chase says he hyperextended his knee.
[2:42] Speaker 1: This looks bad. Said if it were a game, he
[2:45] Speaker 1: would have been able to finish the game. But for
[2:46] Speaker 1: around an hour today, we didn't know. And Bengals fans
[2:50] Speaker 1: went to social media and held their breath after Chase
[2:53] Speaker 1: limped off the practice field. I didn't know what happened.
[2:57] Speaker 1: I didn't know how I did it.
[2:58] Speaker 4: I just felt something and I just like couldn't walk
[3:01] Speaker 4: for a second and then I sat down and then
[3:03] Speaker 4: that was it.
[3:04] Speaker 1: It's just like a hyperextension. Like a hyperextension. It's just
[3:08] Speaker 1: freak accidents. Stuff like this happens all the time. It's football.
[3:11] Speaker 5: Some things are out of my control and that was
[3:12] Speaker 5: one situation.
[3:13] Speaker 1: That I couldn't control, but I can control now. Okay.
[3:17] Speaker 1: It's under control. The Aaron Donald situation evidently is under control.
[3:21] Speaker 1: The Rams are two weeks away from flying away to Melbourne,
[3:24] Speaker 1: but there is no news on whether or not Donald
[3:27] Speaker 1: is coming out of retirement. Twice he has worked out
[3:29] Speaker 1: with the Rams and maybe 500 times Sean McVay has
[3:32] Speaker 1: been asked about it, including again today. Here's the latest.
[3:37] Speaker 5: Our thought process has been, let's look at a 53
[3:39] Speaker 5: with him and a 53 not including him.
[3:41] Speaker 1: And what does that look like?
[3:42] Speaker 5: There's some different guys that, you know, you have some
[3:45] Speaker 5: potential roster exemptions that we've talked about. All those things
[3:48] Speaker 5: are things that we think about. And whenever a decision's made,
[3:51] Speaker 5: if that is the direction that he goes where he
[3:53] Speaker 5: wants to play, then we have, you know, plans accordingly.
[3:56] Speaker 1: And if not, we have plans for those as well.
[3:58] Speaker 5: And have you.
[3:59] Speaker 6: Guys planned in terms of if he does come back
[4:02] Speaker 6: but doesn't go to.
[4:04] Speaker 1: Australia, is that..
[4:05] Speaker 5: Haven't even gotten into all that. It's really more of
[4:07] Speaker 5: like truly just take it a day at a time.
[4:09] Speaker 5: And I know you think it's probably, I'm just being
[4:13] Speaker 5: kind of coy, but that's really the truth. And if
[4:15] Speaker 5: he decides he wants to be able to do it,
[4:17] Speaker 5: then the next conversations are, what is your ramp up?
[4:19] Speaker 5: What does it look like to approach whenever that would
[4:22] Speaker 5: be the first time that we think it would make
[4:24] Speaker 5: the most sense for him to impact and influence positive
[4:26] Speaker 5: change with us?
[4:28] Speaker 1: Sean McVay also made a joke today about a gummy,
[4:30] Speaker 1: but that's another story. Meantime in Santa Clara, last week
[4:33] Speaker 1: a quad strain. Today it was a groin for Mike Evans,
[4:36] Speaker 1: who didn't practice today. Evans turned 33 last Friday. He
[4:40] Speaker 1: played only eight games last year in Tampa, and then
[4:43] Speaker 1: he signed that three-year $ 42 million deal with the 49ers.
[4:47] Speaker 1: Mike Evans, injury watch again. OK, in Indianapolis, Alex Pierce
[4:53] Speaker 1: also did not practice today. But this is a good story,
[4:56] Speaker 1: not a bad story, because Shane Steichen says we may
[4:59] Speaker 1: see Pierce back on the practice field later this week.
[5:01] Speaker 1: And that would be huge. Pierce has not practiced since
[5:04] Speaker 1: offseason ankle surgery and notably since getting that four year
[5:08] Speaker 1: one hundred and fourteen million dollar deal back in. in March.
[5:13] Speaker 1: But wait, it's that time of the year we have
[5:15] Speaker 1: more practice news. Christian Gonzalez is back on the field,
[5:19] Speaker 1: although it is sunny right now in Foxborough, not snowy. Remember,
[5:22] Speaker 1: Devin Witherspoon got paid in Seattle, and many assumed that
[5:25] Speaker 1: a deal would be imminent for Gonzalez, same draft class.
[5:29] Speaker 1: But we're not there yet, Elliot Wolfe. Nothing new to
[5:33] Speaker 1: report on Christian. Want him here. He's an elite player.
[5:38] Speaker 1: Been on record saying that before, and we're continuing to
[5:40] Speaker 1: work with his representation. to find a resolution that works
[5:44] Speaker 1: for everyone.
[5:44] Speaker 7: Do you view week one as sort of an internal
[5:46] Speaker 7: deadline when it comes to his potential extension, or would
[5:49] Speaker 7: you guys be open to continuing that throughout the season?
[5:53] Speaker 1: We're just kind of taking it a day at a
[5:54] Speaker 1: time right now. We haven't set a deadline. All right,
[5:57] Speaker 1: let's go to New York. You might have missed this
[5:59] Speaker 1: on Friday. It was in Pittsburgh, but the Jets look good,
[6:02] Speaker 1: and you might have missed it because you have a
[6:04] Speaker 1: social life and it was a Friday night, but Geno
[6:06] Speaker 1: Smith went seven for seven on his only drive. He
[6:09] Speaker 1: marched the Jets right down the field, 10 plays, 69 yards.
[6:12] Speaker 1: and a touchdown. What do you know?
[6:16] Speaker 4: You know, I think obviously it's one drive, but I
[6:19] Speaker 4: think we all did a great job of just going
[6:21] Speaker 4: out there and getting points. We had some third down
[6:23] Speaker 4: situations that we converted. You know, we had an explosive
[6:27] Speaker 4: play on that drive with the pass to AD. And usually,
[6:31] Speaker 4: you know, coach talks about when you have an explosive
[6:33] Speaker 4: on the drive, it usually leads to points.
[6:34] Speaker 1: The percentages of scoring points go up.
[6:37] Speaker 4: So, you know, I thought for the most part, everyone
[6:40] Speaker 4: did their jobs. But like I said, at the end
[6:42] Speaker 4: of the game, I think we all can continue to
[6:44] Speaker 4: get better. It's always something positive when you score points.
[6:47] Speaker 4: But again, me, how my mind works, I'm looking at
[6:50] Speaker 4: the things that we can work on.
[6:51] Speaker 1: And get better. And so it's a day-to-day process.
[6:54] Speaker 4: But we're really pleased with the way we started the game.
[6:57] Speaker 1: Love me some Geno. He's 35. He could still sling it.
[7:00] Speaker 1: Here's what he's joining. Yikes, the Jets were, what is
[7:04] Speaker 1: the word we're looking for? They were bad last year.
[7:09] Speaker 1: That is the word we're looking for. But now they
[7:12] Speaker 1: have Geno, and now, hi, Lance Zerline. Great to be
[7:14] Speaker 1: back with you. Now they have Frank Reich calling the plays.
[7:19] Speaker 1: I know the preseason is a liar. Are you buying
[7:23] Speaker 1: the Jets' offense being good this year after watching what
[7:27] Speaker 1: they did Friday night?
[7:29] Speaker 6: You know, it will be a soft purchase for me.
[7:31] Speaker 6: It's a soft purchase. I'll keep my receipt. But look,
[7:34] Speaker 6: this is what I think on that. You have actual
[7:37] Speaker 6: talent at the skill positions. We know Brees Hall. can
[7:41] Speaker 6: get some damage done on the ground and out of
[7:42] Speaker 6: the backfield. We know what Garrett Wilson is about. I
[7:46] Speaker 6: like the fact that Omar Cooper gives you a catch
[7:48] Speaker 6: option underneath who can do some things after the catch,
[7:51] Speaker 6: the rookie from Indiana. But what really excites me is
[7:55] Speaker 6: the combination at tight end, the 12 personnel sets that
[7:58] Speaker 6: they can throw out there with Kenyon Sadiq, the rookie,
[8:01] Speaker 6: and Mason Taylor, who I was very high.
[8:03] Speaker 2: On coming out of the 2025 draft.
[8:05] Speaker 6: I think when you look at Geno Smith, he's going
[8:07] Speaker 6: to have a variety of targets to throw to. I
[8:10] Speaker 6: didn't even mention A.D. Mitchell, who I think has some
[8:12] Speaker 6: good upside as well. So there's some real talent at
[8:15] Speaker 6: the skill position. It's just a matter of Frank Reich
[8:18] Speaker 6: working with this veteran quarterback to find out who is
[8:21] Speaker 6: going to be his favorite target. I don't know if
[8:24] Speaker 6: Geno's just going to lock in on Garrett Wilson. I
[8:27] Speaker 6: think that with these two tight ends, we could see
[8:30] Speaker 6: the Jets really– have some good, strong improvement from all.
[8:34] Speaker 2: Those 29s and 30s and 31s we just saw in
[8:37] Speaker 2: the graphic.
[8:39] Speaker 1: So the number was 17 last year for Geno. You
[8:42] Speaker 1: know what that is by chance, 17?
[8:45] Speaker 2: Ooh, not touchdowns.
[8:48] Speaker 1: No, he led the league in picks. So I'm with you.
[8:51] Speaker 1: I'm kind of, I don't want to say bullish, but,
[8:53] Speaker 1: you know, I would maybe make a purchase but keep
[8:57] Speaker 1: the receipt. Real quick, 10 seconds, Lance. Can he cut
[9:00] Speaker 1: down on the picks?
[9:02] Speaker 6: I think he'll cut down, but it's still, look, he's
[9:04] Speaker 6: an interception guy.
[9:06] Speaker 2: 14-15 could be a good year for him, actually.
[9:09] Speaker 1: I mean, Gino once said, they wrote me off, but
[9:12] Speaker 1: I ain't written down.
[9:13] Speaker 2: He didn't write back. He didn't write back.
[9:14] Speaker 1: Right to the Jets. Maybe they can score some points.
[9:17] Speaker 1: Coming up next, that guy, Dan Henley, joins us live
[9:21] Speaker 1: in L.A. Who is funnier, his head coach or the
[9:24] Speaker 1: offensive coordinator that talks trash in practice to the Chargers defense?
[9:29] Speaker 1: NFL Report rolls on. When it feels good!
[9:37] Speaker 2: When it feels good!
[9:39] Speaker 1: Let's give a game ball to Mike McDaniel! Hey! About
[9:47] Speaker 1: 400 yards of offense in the preseason. Oh yeah! Game
[9:55] Speaker 1: ball to Chris O'Leary!
[10:03] Speaker 6: That fourth down stop, amazing.
[10:06] Speaker 1: Bunch of great calls. We got a locker room full
[10:09] Speaker 1: of characters there with the Chargers. This guy is a
[10:12] Speaker 1: character as well. He is an L.A. native, and he's
[10:16] Speaker 1: like five minutes down the road from where we are
[10:18] Speaker 1: standing now. Welcome to the NFL Report here, Charger linebacker
[10:22] Speaker 1: Deion Henley. How are you, man?
[10:24] Speaker 7: I'm doing pretty good. I'm having a good day. It's
[10:27] Speaker 7: been hot out here, man, burning up. But got to
[10:30] Speaker 7: be thankful for this weather, you know, nonetheless.
[10:32] Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, we could be we could be like
[10:35] Speaker 1: in New Orleans and memory at Saints training camp or
[10:37] Speaker 1: Houston with that humidity. But honestly, it kind of not
[10:39] Speaker 1: that people elsewhere care about our weather day on, but
[10:42] Speaker 1: it is different right now.
[10:44] Speaker 7: No, it's definitely different. It's like you're caught in a
[10:46] Speaker 7: heat wave right now. You feel me? I'm trying to
[10:48] Speaker 7: bring in that heat, but you got to find a
[10:49] Speaker 7: way to bring that energy, and that's what this team
[10:51] Speaker 7: is doing.
[10:52] Speaker 1: Well, you guys have the energy. You practice, oh, by
[10:53] Speaker 1: the way, at the Bolt, which is a ridiculous new facility.
[10:57] Speaker 1: We saw Harbaugh there with McDaniel. It's year three for Harbaugh,
[11:01] Speaker 1: but it's year four for you, man. What does, after
[11:05] Speaker 1: career highs and 100 tackles, and you were lights out
[11:08] Speaker 1: in the playoff game, what does year four look like
[11:10] Speaker 1: for you, dude?
[11:12] Speaker 7: I think I would say more. You feel me? More
[11:15] Speaker 7: career highs. As I see it is my career has
[11:19] Speaker 7: a lot more left in it. And so for me,
[11:21] Speaker 7: I have a lot more left to give in myself.
[11:23] Speaker 7: So for me, I just want to keep stacking, keep
[11:25] Speaker 7: stacking days, keep stacking weeks, months, games, seasons. I just
[11:29] Speaker 7: want to be able to say that it was more
[11:31] Speaker 7: on the table and I'm continually going for it.
[11:33] Speaker 1: Where's the ceiling, man?
[11:36] Speaker 7: I don't see one right now. And that's the best
[11:38] Speaker 7: way for me to think. You feel me? As far
[11:40] Speaker 7: as my coaches go, this team, I see no ceiling
[11:43] Speaker 7: for myself. I see no ceiling for each other, for
[11:45] Speaker 7: our team. And I just want to make sure that,
[11:47] Speaker 7: you know, we work into that. A lot of this
[11:49] Speaker 7: stuff can be lip service, but you have to put
[11:51] Speaker 7: the work in right behind it. And that's where I'm
[11:53] Speaker 7: at right now. The mentality is to keep working and
[11:55] Speaker 7: striving for something.
[11:57] Speaker 1: And I know with those coaches we just saw there,
[11:59] Speaker 1: they're going to make you put the work in. Harbaugh's
[12:02] Speaker 1: a character. Mike McDaniel. He is a character. Chris O'Leary,
[12:06] Speaker 1: maybe not as much, but he's a different dude. He's
[12:09] Speaker 1: the new DC. What is it like at practice with
[12:13] Speaker 1: Harbaugh and McDaniels?
[12:16] Speaker 7: It's exciting. It's exciting. And I want you to understand,
[12:19] Speaker 7: Coach O'Leary has just that amount of energy as well
[12:23] Speaker 7: to match those guys. We just don't see him as
[12:25] Speaker 7: much in the same light. But it's crazy when they
[12:29] Speaker 7: go back and forth in these practices. It's just like
[12:32] Speaker 7: they're ping-ponging off of each other and making sure that
[12:35] Speaker 7: they're getting better themselves each day. And so for me,
[12:38] Speaker 7: going into practice every day is exciting, bro. You never
[12:41] Speaker 7: know what you're going to get. Coach Harbaugh can have
[12:44] Speaker 7: the craziest one-liner, but Coach Mike McDaniel will follow right
[12:48] Speaker 7: behind him. And then on the other end, you have
[12:50] Speaker 7: Coach O'Leary who's bringing that electric energy every day. So
[12:53] Speaker 7: for us, it's like waking up and going to watch
[12:57] Speaker 7: a Hard Knocks episode of the Chargers every day. I'm
[12:59] Speaker 7: surprised we ain't been on there yet. We should have
[13:01] Speaker 7: definitely had a season right now with these guys because
[13:04] Speaker 7: every day is an episode. Every day is electric. And
[13:07] Speaker 7: so for me, it's entertaining. It keeps you engaged, right?
[13:09] Speaker 7: It keeps you engaged.
[13:11] Speaker 1: We're getting to the great work you're doing in the
[13:13] Speaker 1: community coming up in one second. But I got to
[13:15] Speaker 1: ask about your quarterback, because with that drip that the
[13:17] Speaker 1: OC has, I know you see Justin Herbert's eyes and
[13:22] Speaker 1: he's a killer already. What is Justin Herbert like now
[13:27] Speaker 1: in this new offense?
[13:30] Speaker 7: One, I want to say he loves it. Not only
[13:33] Speaker 7: does he love it, but it's starting to become him
[13:35] Speaker 7: in a sense of like the ownership. Obviously, things are new.
[13:38] Speaker 7: I can see for myself as well when we talk
[13:40] Speaker 7: about the need, how the defense is coming along. But
[13:43] Speaker 7: like with Justin, he dives in so deep into what
[13:47] Speaker 7: he's doing. It becomes him. And so for me out
[13:50] Speaker 7: there looking at him from the outside looking in, I
[13:52] Speaker 7: can see how much time he spent, how much dedication
[13:55] Speaker 7: he's putting into not only studying with Coach Mike, but
[13:59] Speaker 7: studying on his own. Every time I walk past a
[14:01] Speaker 7: QB room, his head is down and he's in his notes.
[14:03] Speaker 7: And I mean, that's been the past three or four days.
[14:06] Speaker 7: The guys are talking, whatever's going on around him, his
[14:08] Speaker 7: head is down, he's in his notes. He's trying to
[14:09] Speaker 7: make sure that this offense becomes second nature for him.
[14:12] Speaker 7: And so to say that he's locked in is an understatement.
[14:16] Speaker 7: Like I said, the best way to describe this offense
[14:18] Speaker 7: is that it's becoming him. So the ownership that I'm
[14:20] Speaker 7: seeing from Justin Herbert, it drives and motivates me to
[14:23] Speaker 7: study my defense the way I do Derwin James, the
[14:26] Speaker 7: same way he's our leader. And he spoke to us
[14:29] Speaker 7: today and just kind of told us, like, you know,
[14:31] Speaker 7: he enjoys being on this team. And so that kind
[14:34] Speaker 7: of just drives us more and more to just fight
[14:37] Speaker 7: for him, both sides of the ball, all three phases.
[14:41] Speaker 1: I know you're a leader as well in the community
[14:43] Speaker 1: and on the field, but the community means a lot
[14:45] Speaker 1: to you. You're from here, man, Crenshaw, and you want
[14:49] Speaker 1: to give back, whether it's in the neighborhood where you
[14:52] Speaker 1: grew up or out in the Palisades as well, which
[14:54] Speaker 1: is where you were last week. Pali High, you know,
[14:57] Speaker 1: they had to play every game on the road last year, obviously,
[15:01] Speaker 1: as as all of the Palisades in Malibu rebuild from
[15:04] Speaker 1: those horrible fires. It's a lot for them. But here
[15:07] Speaker 1: you are there as an honorary captain. Man, how cool
[15:10] Speaker 1: was this? And what did this mean for those kids
[15:13] Speaker 1: and for you?
[15:14] Speaker 7: I mean, it was beautiful just to be a part
[15:17] Speaker 7: of that community for a short time, but just to
[15:20] Speaker 7: feel like I've been there my whole life. Everyone was
[15:22] Speaker 7: so welcoming from the kids to the parents to the coaches,
[15:26] Speaker 7: the team. It was amazing to be just to be
[15:28] Speaker 7: a part of it. I was honored to not only
[15:31] Speaker 7: just be a captain. honorary captain but also to have
[15:34] Speaker 7: my team that i grew up in my school play
[15:37] Speaker 7: against them that same game so for me to have
[15:39] Speaker 7: both my communities in a sense be there in that
[15:42] Speaker 7: moment just to show that it's it's united and sometimes
[15:45] Speaker 7: people have to remind like be reminded that it's more
[15:48] Speaker 7: than football and for me it's not about what teams
[15:50] Speaker 7: were playing on that field it was about supporting palisades
[15:52] Speaker 7: high school and not only that but the community because
[15:55] Speaker 7: we the chargers know what happened to LA during that
[16:00] Speaker 7: time you know the whole Los Angeles everyone that's involved
[16:03] Speaker 7: and so for us to be able to be a
[16:05] Speaker 7: part of that and to show that we are helping
[16:07] Speaker 7: hand is big not only for me but just to
[16:10] Speaker 7: be a part of an organization like this it just
[16:11] Speaker 7: shows how much love and respect I have for this
[16:14] Speaker 7: building and for the people that's involved in all these decisions.
[16:17] Speaker 1: Yeah I'm glad you mentioned it's not just you it's
[16:19] Speaker 1: the team whether it's nominating Coach Smith for the Don
[16:21] Speaker 1: Chulo Award or hosting Pally High last year at SoFi
[16:26] Speaker 1: you guys have done so much and Dan, I'm just
[16:29] Speaker 1: imagining what it would mean for your high school, for Pally,
[16:33] Speaker 1: for all of L.A., if you guys finally take that
[16:37] Speaker 1: next step this year. How do you take that grassroots
[16:41] Speaker 1: support here and turn it into this team, your team,
[16:46] Speaker 1: getting over the hump?
[16:47] Speaker 7: I think one thing that I like to talk about
[16:50] Speaker 7: all the time is that this team is deep rooted
[16:54] Speaker 7: in fight, right? Just having that fight, that hunger to
[16:57] Speaker 7: go do. And that's kind of like the community that
[16:59] Speaker 7: I come from, the Crenshaw District. You got to have
[17:01] Speaker 7: that fight, that hunger to go do. And with the
[17:03] Speaker 7: will that we have as a unit right now, I
[17:07] Speaker 7: feel like the hump is near right now. We're getting
[17:10] Speaker 7: over it. And I just feel like. This comes from
[17:12] Speaker 7: just the dedication, the time spent in the locker room,
[17:17] Speaker 7: on the field, day in and day out. And with
[17:20] Speaker 7: just tying that into the community, they're fiending for another championship,
[17:24] Speaker 7: and that's what we want to be able to give them.
[17:26] Speaker 7: But I know it starts a day's work. uh building
[17:29] Speaker 7: block you know every day is something and so for
[17:31] Speaker 7: me to be a community rep in my sense of
[17:33] Speaker 7: to be the Crenshaw district to be if you look
[17:35] Speaker 7: at the rosters in Crenshaw I mean in LA like
[17:38] Speaker 7: being a true native uh from Los Angeles so to
[17:42] Speaker 7: give that respect and love to the Chargers I just
[17:45] Speaker 7: can't wait to do that so I feel like this
[17:47] Speaker 7: is the year to get over that hump and take
[17:49] Speaker 7: the drive the necessary drive as far as we want
[17:51] Speaker 7: to go.
[17:52] Speaker 1: Can't wait to see it man Dayon Henley, best of luck.
[17:56] Speaker 1: Year number four, go get you some of those Mike
[17:57] Speaker 1: McDaniel shades and go stay in the air conditioning the
[18:01] Speaker 1: rest of the afternoon, man.
[18:02] Speaker 2: We appreciate you.

[18:26] Speaker 1: Terms and conditions do apply. Let's do some quick hits,
[18:30] Speaker 1: get some other news in here. Not good for Calvin Austin.
[18:33] Speaker 1: Carted off veteran wide receiver in New York today, East Rutherford,
[18:37] Speaker 1: to be specific for the Giants. He's a former Steeler.
[18:40] Speaker 1: John Harbaugh says, quote, it does not look good. OK,
[18:44] Speaker 1: does that open the door maybe for Odell Beckham Jr.
[18:46] Speaker 1: to make the team? This is just me. Thinking out
[18:49] Speaker 1: loud in Detroit, the news is better for Sam Laporta.
[18:52] Speaker 1: He was back at practice today, one week after the
[18:55] Speaker 1: tight end had a hip injury in the Lions inner
[18:58] Speaker 1: squad scrimmage. So he missed a week. That's it. Sam
[19:02] Speaker 1: Laporta seems to be okay. And Allen Robinson is okay
[19:06] Speaker 1: as well. We want to say congratulations to the 11-year veteran,
[19:09] Speaker 1: the wide receiver, the NFL broadcast boot camp veteran who
[19:12] Speaker 1: retired yesterday on his 33rd birthday. Robinson, a Penn Stater,
[19:18] Speaker 1: led the NFL in his second season with 14 touchdown receptions.
[19:23] Speaker 1: Allen Robinson took last year off, was last in the
[19:26] Speaker 1: NFL with the Lions. All right, we roll on on
[19:31] Speaker 1: the NFL Report show number two. Let's do four downs.
[19:34] Speaker 1: Lance Zerline back with us on the home cam. Lance
[19:37] Speaker 1: has an article right now, NFL.com. It's the best and
[19:39] Speaker 1: worst cases for 17 rookies. So first down here for
[19:44] Speaker 1: the first overall pick, Lance, Fernando Mendoza, your projection for
[19:48] Speaker 1: him this season.
[19:50] Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm looking at about 11 to 12 starts for
[19:54] Speaker 6: Fernando Mendoza.
[19:54] Speaker 2: You can see my numbers there.
[19:56] Speaker 6: And I base that on the fact that, you know,
[19:58] Speaker 6: I do think Clint Kubiak is going to start off
[20:00] Speaker 6: with Kirk Cousins. I think that's a smart move, but
[20:02] Speaker 6: I liked what I saw from him against Houston in the,
[20:05] Speaker 6: in the joint practice and, and, In the preseason game,
[20:08] Speaker 6: I think Fernando is going to come along a little
[20:10] Speaker 6: quicker maybe than expected. I do think we'll see a
[20:13] Speaker 6: solid season fantasy wise, you know, probably not a factor
[20:16] Speaker 6: this year, maybe not even in dynasty leagues.
[20:19] Speaker 2: But by next year will be a factor, I think.
[20:21] Speaker 6: But I think he's going to have a solid season,
[20:24] Speaker 6: maybe on par, could be a little more efficient than
[20:28] Speaker 6: Cam Ward's season last year.
[20:29] Speaker 1: Your best case scenario is that he starts every game.
[20:32] Speaker 1: We both agree that is highly unlikely. You're also giving
[20:35] Speaker 1: us scenarios, best and worst case, for Jadarian Price, who
[20:38] Speaker 1: is the number 32 pick in the first round. Give
[20:41] Speaker 1: me a projection for the Seahawks rookie.
[20:43] Speaker 6: Yeah, so he's been splitting first-team carries with George Helani,
[20:46] Speaker 6: but George Helani has 25 career carries for 3.3 yards. Look,
[20:50] Speaker 6: this is going to be Jadarian Price's job in the
[20:53] Speaker 6: short term to long term, depending on Zach Charbonnet when
[20:57] Speaker 6: he returns. But I do think that we're going to
[20:59] Speaker 6: see the very talented Jadarian Price at a legitimate first-round
[21:02] Speaker 6: grade on him, and you're going to see why when
[21:04] Speaker 6: he gets in there. I think he's going to approach
[21:06] Speaker 6: 1,000 yards rushing this year with over 200 carries, and
[21:09] Speaker 6: I do expect him– to come close to the double-digit
[21:12] Speaker 6: touchdown mark as well.
[21:13] Speaker 2: Seattle's going to move the ball. He could be the
[21:16] Speaker 2: guy to punch that in.
[21:17] Speaker 1: I also highly recommend watching Hard Knocks tonight, Jadarian Price
[21:20] Speaker 1: with the Rookie Talent Show in Nashville. You should see it. Okay,
[21:24] Speaker 1: our last two downs, third and fourth down, Lance, are
[21:26] Speaker 1: just for you because you are in Houston. The Texans
[21:29] Speaker 1: made a trade yesterday. They made the call, and they
[21:32] Speaker 1: got Keyshawn Boutte. They got him from the Patriots. They
[21:36] Speaker 1: need a wide receiver with Jaden Higgins down. They didn't
[21:38] Speaker 1: give up much. What do you think of the deal?
[21:41] Speaker 1: Love the deal.
[21:42] Speaker 2: I think Nick Casario did a great job here.
[21:43] Speaker 6: You had backup depth at safety, the sixth-round pick Jalen Reed,
[21:47] Speaker 6: so you were able to move a third or fourth
[21:50] Speaker 6: safety and a seventh-round pick for a wide receiver who's
[21:53] Speaker 6: going to step in right away and be your second
[21:55] Speaker 6: wide receiver on a team who has Super Bowl aspirations.
[21:59] Speaker 6: So in my opinion, a guy with elite hands, great
[22:01] Speaker 6: body control and the ability, I think, to step in
[22:05] Speaker 6: and be a pro right away. This is a very
[22:07] Speaker 6: shrewd move and a very strong move by Nick Casario
[22:10] Speaker 6: to pick up this level of player this late in camp.
[22:14] Speaker 1: Also, I mentioned Houston fourth down. The Texans rolled out
[22:19] Speaker 1: as all the NFL, the NFC North did today. The
[22:22] Speaker 1: Texans rolled out their rivalry. They're in the Nike rivalry uniform.
[22:26] Speaker 1: What do we think of this? It's Liberty White, H-Town Blue,
[22:31] Speaker 1: and Battle Red. They're going to wear them week 11
[22:34] Speaker 1: against the Colts on Thursday Night Football. What do you think?
[22:39] Speaker 2: You know, it's been positive, mostly positive from here in Houston.
[22:42] Speaker 6: I've seen some spotty reaction to some of the city
[22:45] Speaker 6: jerseys up to this point.
[22:46] Speaker 2: But here in Houston, they like it.
[22:48] Speaker 6: They like the rollout with the video that the Texans
[22:51] Speaker 6: did with their social media team.
[22:53] Speaker 2: So mostly positive here in Houston.
[22:55] Speaker 6: I like it's something completely different than we've seen over
[22:59] Speaker 6: the 25 years the Texans have been in business here
[23:02] Speaker 6: in the NFL.
[23:03] Speaker 2: So looking forward to seeing how they look in all white.
[23:06] Speaker 1: Okay, did you on Sunday night watch– the Titans as
[23:10] Speaker 1: they played the Seahawks on Sunday night football while Fox
[23:13] Speaker 1: Sunday night football, because we know that there's, there's, there's
[23:16] Speaker 1: some tension between the two franchises. We know this obviously for, for,
[23:20] Speaker 1: for clear reasons. They also are wearing these new white
[23:24] Speaker 1: uniforms that looked ridiculous, ridiculous, like good. I mean, not bad.
[23:31] Speaker 2: Right, right.
[23:32] Speaker 6: There's a little tension here in Houston because basically Tennessee
[23:36] Speaker 6: is wearing the Houston Oilers uniforms.
[23:38] Speaker 2: That's probably what you're referring to.
[23:40] Speaker 6: And I can tell you this, people in Houston don't
[23:42] Speaker 6: love it, but the people who really don't like it
[23:44] Speaker 6: are the ownership here in Houston, Cal and Hannah McNair.
[23:48] Speaker 2: I think they would love to have those colors back here.
[23:51] Speaker 6: The Tennessee owner, of course, Amy Adams Strunk, the daughter of–
[23:56] Speaker 6: Adams from, you know, Bud Adams who owned the Houston Oilers.
[24:01] Speaker 6: It's a fun little rivalry and the jerseys are the
[24:03] Speaker 6: latest salvo in terms of the shots back and forth.
[24:06] Speaker 1: Yeah, I love them. Now, the Bears ones, which I
[24:11] Speaker 1: don't think we're going to put on the screen, look
[24:12] Speaker 1: a little bit like Syracuse? But hey, I love it.
[24:16] Speaker 1: They look like the Orange Men. Caleb Williams is leaving
[24:19] Speaker 1: to go play for Syracuse. We're leaving as well. Thank you,
[24:21] Speaker 1: Lance Erlein. This has been the NFL Report. I'm Andrew Siciliano,
