[0:07] Speaker 1: The forty nine ers got a lot of the band
[0:09] Speaker 1: back together, especially on defense.
[0:10] Speaker 2: But what do those reunions mean for the team's hopes.
[0:13] Speaker 1: We discuss on this episode of The Insiders. The Jags
[0:16] Speaker 1: counting down the day so they get Travis Hunter all
[0:18] Speaker 1: the way back, but will he only be back on
[0:22] Speaker 1: one side of the ball. We'll tell you what the
[0:23] Speaker 1: Jags have to say coming up on the show, and
[0:26] Speaker 1: your fantasy draft could be a few days, hours, or.
[0:28] Speaker 2: Even minutes away.
[0:30] Speaker 1: We get you set for the twenty twenty sixth season
[0:32] Speaker 1: on The Insiders, which starts now.
[0:35] Speaker 2: Everybody.
[0:36] Speaker 1: Welcome to The Insiders, the return of the Insiders after
[0:38] Speaker 1: a little break. Patrick clayb I'm here in the nfl
[0:40] Speaker 1: LA newsroom. Mike Garrifolo our insider of the day. Mike,
[0:42] Speaker 1: I have missed you. The people need some contract updates,
[0:45] Speaker 1: So let's start right there at the top of this
[0:48] Speaker 1: show with a quarterback, because that's what we enjoy doing
[0:52] Speaker 1: on television, especially Sports TV. Two years remaining on the
[0:55] Speaker 1: contract for Lamar Jackson and the Ravens. He has a
[0:57] Speaker 1: no trade calls, no tag calls. Mike was a big
[1:00] Speaker 1: part of the process last time. Where are the team
[1:03] Speaker 1: and Lamar.
[1:03] Speaker 3: Now, look, I'll be honest Patrick, this is gonna be
[1:07] Speaker 3: the one that I'll feel the least confident in. And
[1:09] Speaker 3: the reason for that is it's a tight circle of people.
[1:12] Speaker 3: It's a very small circle of people. In fact, I
[1:14] Speaker 3: don't even know if you can make it a circle
[1:16] Speaker 3: when there's only two people involved, and that's Lamar Jackson
[1:19] Speaker 3: as well as Eric DeCosta, the general manager of the Ravens,
[1:22] Speaker 3: and Nick Mattio, their contract negotiators. I guess that's three people.
[1:25] Speaker 3: We can make a triangle, I suppose. But Lamar Jackson
[1:29] Speaker 3: kept it really tight last time and really surprised the
[1:33] Speaker 3: Ravens when the deal was all said and done. They
[1:35] Speaker 3: thought that there was going to be still more work
[1:36] Speaker 3: to be done, and then Eric de Costa got a
[1:39] Speaker 3: text said, hey, I guess we're done here, so this
[1:42] Speaker 3: I do think that there is work that still needs
[1:44] Speaker 3: to be done, and if it's not done before the
[1:45] Speaker 3: training started training camp, excuse me.
[1:48] Speaker 4: I will not be surprised.
[1:49] Speaker 3: I know this. Sides were hopeful, at least the Ravens
[1:51] Speaker 3: were hopeful this would get done in the spring. It
[1:53] Speaker 3: did not, so they kicked the can down the road
[1:55] Speaker 3: with a simple restructure there to give themselves some capt
[1:59] Speaker 3: flexibility in the time. So the size is going to
[2:01] Speaker 3: continue to work on this one. If it carries in
[2:02] Speaker 3: the training camp, Patrick not going to be surprised at
[2:05] Speaker 3: that at all.
[2:06] Speaker 1: I guess the shape down in Tampa Bay, where Baker
[2:08] Speaker 1: Mayfield is hoping to have a date of training camp
[2:11] Speaker 1: is more of a quadrilateral.
[2:12] Speaker 2: That's what he said.
[2:13] Speaker 1: Would like to have that done before entering the season,
[2:16] Speaker 1: which will be the final year of the deal he's
[2:19] Speaker 1: currently on. He said, it's about finding the middle ground.
[2:22] Speaker 1: How close are they mark to that middle ground?
[2:25] Speaker 3: Yeah, that's how it works, Baker when it comes to
[2:27] Speaker 3: negotiated negotiations. Look, I know what Baker's doing. I mean,
[2:31] Speaker 3: and sometimes you got to put a little bit of
[2:33] Speaker 3: pressure on the team, even if it is a situation
[2:36] Speaker 3: where you know he is going to be the guy,
[2:38] Speaker 3: and they know he's going to be the guy, at
[2:39] Speaker 3: least for the short term. They are not close yet.
[2:43] Speaker 3: I know that now. I'm confident in that one. I
[2:45] Speaker 3: can tell you that. And there's a lot of work
[2:46] Speaker 3: that needs to be done on this one. And we're
[2:48] Speaker 3: sort of in a period where when it comes to
[2:51] Speaker 3: Baker Mayfield or even Vinevea on the other side of
[2:53] Speaker 3: the ball that we've talked about, and since then, Jeffrey
[2:55] Speaker 3: Simmons with the Titans has got an extension. The Bucks
[2:59] Speaker 3: are in no ruck on either one of these. Now
[3:02] Speaker 3: around the start of training camp, that's where some pressure
[3:04] Speaker 3: could be applied and say, hey, maybe we want to
[3:06] Speaker 3: get this done and not have this be a storyline
[3:08] Speaker 3: as we get ourselves into camp.
[3:10] Speaker 4: And I can tell you right now.
[3:11] Speaker 3: Where Baker and his camp where they have in their
[3:14] Speaker 3: mind where the numbers should be and where the Bucks
[3:17] Speaker 3: have offered to this point. Yeah, they're not close, and
[3:19] Speaker 3: it's about finding that middle ground. They're not close to
[3:21] Speaker 3: that just yet.
[3:22] Speaker 1: Yeah, elsewhere in the division, mark the number is forty percent.
[3:25] Speaker 1: Over forty percent of Falcons offensive touches go Tubson Robinson,
[3:30] Speaker 1: the team picked up his fifth year option, would seem
[3:32] Speaker 1: to behoove the Mark to act sooner rather than later.
[3:36] Speaker 4: Here.
[3:37] Speaker 3: Yeah, they had a few contract extensions that they needed
[3:39] Speaker 3: to get done this offseason, and b John Robinson was
[3:42] Speaker 3: a big.
[3:42] Speaker 4: One for them.
[3:43] Speaker 3: But this one's a little bit more complicated because when
[3:45] Speaker 3: you get into running back deals, there are the halves
[3:49] Speaker 3: and the have nuts and the haves and the top
[3:51] Speaker 3: of that market with Saquon Barkley up there. But John
[3:54] Speaker 3: Robinson and Jamier Gidz, a guy we're gonna talk about
[3:56] Speaker 3: in just the second here, are gonna.
[3:58] Speaker 2: Want to be there, are going to want to be
[3:59] Speaker 2: over that. I don't want to launch.
[4:01] Speaker 3: To the top of the running back market. The question
[4:03] Speaker 3: is which one of them winds up going first, because
[4:06] Speaker 3: you'd like to have the one guy I knew is say,
[4:07] Speaker 3: all right, now, I know exactly where the bar is.
[4:09] Speaker 3: Now I try to clear that. So sometimes it's a
[4:12] Speaker 3: standoff between the player and the team. In this case,
[4:14] Speaker 3: it might be a standoff between the player and the player.
[4:17] Speaker 3: Someone's got to go first. And I would expect both
[4:19] Speaker 3: of these to be done before the start of the season,
[4:21] Speaker 3: but this could take some time into training camp. Then
[4:23] Speaker 3: the question is what do you want to do if
[4:24] Speaker 3: you're the players, do you want to participate? Is it
[4:26] Speaker 3: want to be a hold in or whatnot. We'll see
[4:28] Speaker 3: how they approach that one. But b Jhon Robinson and
[4:30] Speaker 3: Jamior Gibs worthy of being the highest paid running backs,
[4:34] Speaker 3: and I think one, if not both, going to wind
[4:35] Speaker 3: up doing that.
[4:36] Speaker 1: Because these two are an exorbally linked, just a couple
[4:38] Speaker 1: of picks separating them in that twenty twenty three draft.
[4:41] Speaker 1: How do we handicap it, Mike, Because as you said,
[4:44] Speaker 1: they're both kind of in a similar circumstances the teams,
[4:47] Speaker 1: which team I guess is in position to act first?
[4:50] Speaker 3: Here, I would say, if I'm Jamior Gibbs, at least
[4:54] Speaker 3: I have something from the team on record, and it
[4:57] Speaker 3: is Dan Campbell saying that we got to do a
[4:59] Speaker 3: lot more with Jamir Gibbs. So you go, well, that's great, right,
[5:03] Speaker 3: because now it was a two headed monster. Now it's
[5:05] Speaker 3: really a one and a one B if you want
[5:08] Speaker 3: to call it. But Jamiir Gibbs is going to be
[5:10] Speaker 3: the guy in Detroit, and you're saying, oh, that's great,
[5:12] Speaker 3: You're going to use me even more going forward. Here's
[5:15] Speaker 3: where we're going to present that in the contract negotiations.
[5:17] Speaker 3: His agent, Todd Frantz, has done plenty of deals, plenty
[5:20] Speaker 3: of lucrative deals over the course of his career, so
[5:22] Speaker 3: you know he's bringing that comment back to the table
[5:25] Speaker 3: and telling them, Okay, then we deserve to be the
[5:28] Speaker 3: highest paid guy, and we know.
[5:29] Speaker 4: What he's capable of doing.
[5:30] Speaker 3: Both as a runner and a receiver, which you're seeing
[5:32] Speaker 3: on display right here. I mean, that's why when it
[5:34] Speaker 3: comes to Robinson and comes to Gibbs, that's why they
[5:37] Speaker 3: feel like they deserve to be at the top of
[5:38] Speaker 3: the market because they provide both and their ability to
[5:41] Speaker 3: be dynamic in both roles, Jamiir Gibbs and having that,
[5:44] Speaker 3: it's my teams sometimes are just so reluctant to praise
[5:46] Speaker 3: their own guys because they know it comes right back.
[5:48] Speaker 4: To them at the negotiating table.
[5:49] Speaker 1: Yeah, and that's probably at the negotiating table the best
[5:52] Speaker 1: place to praise your particular guys, Mike Garrifolo. There are
[5:56] Speaker 1: all some contract situations. We've got a lot more of
[5:58] Speaker 1: might coming up. The NFL Players Choice begins next Monday
[6:01] Speaker 1: on NFL Network. Tune in to see the players rank
[6:04] Speaker 1: the best in the game, all available for you right
[6:06] Speaker 1: here on NFL Network. The forty nine Ers rookies report
[6:11] Speaker 1: to training Campbell July eighteenth. Veterans like Mike Evans who
[6:13] Speaker 1: will probably see on that ranking on the twenty fifth.
[6:17] Speaker 1: Mike Evans one of those additions on the team this offseason.
[6:20] Speaker 1: As we get a look at the arrivals as well,
[6:23] Speaker 1: as the departres he and Christian Kirk coming into that
[6:25] Speaker 1: wide receiver room.
[6:27] Speaker 2: They get Drake Greenlaw back on defense.
[6:29] Speaker 1: They add Nate Hobbs to see those losses, Jwan Jennings,
[6:32] Speaker 1: Kendrick Bourne, among others. As we welcome in our friend
[6:36] Speaker 1: Steve Wiss to this edition of The Insiders, Mike Garrifolow
[6:38] Speaker 1: back with us as well as we discuss some training
[6:41] Speaker 1: camp storylines. How can get in some of those familiar
[6:43] Speaker 1: faces back on defense change things.
[6:45] Speaker 2: For the better for San Francisco.
[6:47] Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, look, last year, Nick Boster goes down
[6:50] Speaker 5: by the third game with the knee injury. Fred Warner,
[6:52] Speaker 5: the intire linebacker, only plays in six games with an
[6:54] Speaker 5: ankle injury, and Drake Greenlaw was in Denver. We only
[6:57] Speaker 5: played half a season because of injuries. Now they're all
[7:00] Speaker 5: going to be back. Green Law is back with the
[7:01] Speaker 5: forty nine ers after this one year in Denver, and
[7:04] Speaker 5: now Bosa comes back to join Fred Warner coming back.
[7:08] Speaker 5: Now Greenlaw and green Law and Fred Warner two years
[7:11] Speaker 5: ago were the best linebacker tandem in the NFL. So
[7:14] Speaker 5: getting green Law back with warnerback, They've got speed, they've
[7:17] Speaker 5: got attacking people.
[7:18] Speaker 2: Then adding Nick Bosa back. This is a team that
[7:20] Speaker 2: only had twenty sacks last year.
[7:23] Speaker 5: Getting Nick Bosa back, he's good for nine the season
[7:26] Speaker 5: when he's healthy.
[7:26] Speaker 2: That's going to turn everything up.
[7:28] Speaker 5: But let's not forget the fact that they also added
[7:31] Speaker 5: Raheem Morris, the former head coach the Atlanta Falcaus, as
[7:33] Speaker 5: their defensive coordinator. One thing we know about Morris's defense
[7:37] Speaker 5: is they generate sacks last year in Atlanta, a team
[7:39] Speaker 5: that had problems to get to the quarterback for years
[7:41] Speaker 5: fifty seven sacks and Mike when he was a DC
[7:44] Speaker 5: with the Rams, we know what he did with guys
[7:47] Speaker 5: like Kobe Turner, Aaron Donald, and Byron Young at getting
[7:49] Speaker 5: to the quarterback. So adding these pieces back for San
[7:52] Speaker 5: Francisco and Raheem Morris, this defense should once again emerge
[7:56] Speaker 5: as one of the best.
[7:56] Speaker 2: In the NFL.
[7:58] Speaker 3: You remember last year how many rookies they had on
[8:00] Speaker 3: the defensive side of the ball, and they said, we're
[8:02] Speaker 3: going to have to rely upon these guys, and all
[8:03] Speaker 3: of a sudden it was, hey, what's up, cam Wolf
[8:05] Speaker 3: thanks hevery injury injury, and they needed to use those
[8:10] Speaker 3: guys early on in the season. So all that experience
[8:13] Speaker 3: that those guys got now they carry forward with them,
[8:17] Speaker 3: So I know that they're feeling good about the depth
[8:19] Speaker 3: on that side of the ball and some of those
[8:21] Speaker 3: guys that were thrust into those positions up to Stout
[8:23] Speaker 3: the young cornerback, he did a really good job.
[8:25] Speaker 4: You see him right there.
[8:29] Speaker 3: I also go back to Kyle Hustcheko was with us
[8:32] Speaker 3: on the Insiders. They canceled mini camp, and we asked
[8:34] Speaker 3: him about it. He said, I agree with it, He goes,
[8:36] Speaker 3: I just feel like we're in a really good spot
[8:38] Speaker 3: right now. We've talked so much about the Seattle Seahawks,
[8:40] Speaker 3: who are the defending champions, and the Rams who are
[8:43] Speaker 3: the offseason champions, that maybe we're forgetting how much talent
[8:46] Speaker 3: there is and how much pride there is and how
[8:47] Speaker 3: well coached this forty nine ers team. Is this just
[8:50] Speaker 3: division is going to be just fascinating to watch player.
[8:53] Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, they have that familiarity with each other.
[8:55] Speaker 1: In contrast, we go over to a place in our
[8:58] Speaker 1: nation's capital where Dan Quincy's like he's doing a full
[9:00] Speaker 1: teardown in the hopes of restoring that defense. So got
[9:03] Speaker 1: of some defenses that he's had in the past, just
[9:05] Speaker 1: not in DC.
[9:06] Speaker 5: Look at other linebackers, including the outside linebackers. They've got
[9:10] Speaker 5: four new linebackers who could end up starting in Washington.
[9:13] Speaker 2: Bobby Wagner looks like he's out.
[9:15] Speaker 5: They drafted Sunny styles of the multi positional linebacker out
[9:18] Speaker 5: of Ohio State University.
[9:20] Speaker 2: But Mike the interesting going into training camp.
[9:22] Speaker 5: The battle could be between Leo Chanal, the rotational inside
[9:26] Speaker 5: outside linebacker coming over from Kansas City, and Frankie Louvu,
[9:30] Speaker 5: the inside linebacker who just two years was a second
[9:32] Speaker 5: team All Pro styles.
[9:34] Speaker 2: You're seeing him right here. He seems like a three
[9:36] Speaker 2: down linebacker.
[9:37] Speaker 5: Schanal and Louvu are very similar downhill, very speedy, physical linebackers.
[9:43] Speaker 2: How is that going to work out?
[9:45] Speaker 5: Because the training, the mini camp reports you're hearing about,
[9:47] Speaker 5: Louvu could end up being the play caller.
[9:50] Speaker 2: So are they going to go with three linebackers.
[9:52] Speaker 5: And Deronte Jones a new defensive quarters, new system or
[9:55] Speaker 5: is there going to be some type of competition with
[9:57] Speaker 5: Shanal and Louvu. That's going to be something again going
[10:00] Speaker 5: in the training camp. I think all eyes need to
[10:02] Speaker 5: watch that linebacker battle as Dan Quinn and the Commander's
[10:05] Speaker 5: wetool at defense talked about the forty.
[10:08] Speaker 3: Nine ers depth and what they needed when guys went
[10:10] Speaker 3: down last year. That's what dan Quinn has been asking
[10:13] Speaker 3: about from his coaches, and that's why this mini camp
[10:18] Speaker 3: he had the starters just go through a walk through
[10:20] Speaker 3: pace and had more live reps for some of these
[10:23] Speaker 3: other guys, because last year they had all those injuries
[10:25] Speaker 3: and the guys that stepped up did not play well.
[10:27] Speaker 3: And that's a big reason why they attacked this offseason
[10:30] Speaker 3: the way that they did. Steve and they added so
[10:32] Speaker 3: many of those guys on defense. They wanted to get younger,
[10:34] Speaker 3: they wanted to get faster, they wanted to get more
[10:36] Speaker 3: dynamic on defense, and they feel like they did that
[10:38] Speaker 3: be a free agency.
[10:39] Speaker 4: Well, now all those.
[10:41] Speaker 3: Guys and these other guys, you know, can you rely
[10:43] Speaker 3: upon some of these reserves and maybe we got to
[10:46] Speaker 3: coach him up a little bit more in training camp
[10:48] Speaker 3: and maybe we feel like, oh, that guy's ready to go.
[10:50] Speaker 3: That's a guy that can be an integral part of
[10:52] Speaker 3: our defense moving forward. So it was a transformative spring
[10:57] Speaker 3: in a lot of ways for Washington and that's going
[10:59] Speaker 3: to continue into training camp. One of the teams that
[11:01] Speaker 3: when I do make that stop down, they are going
[11:02] Speaker 3: to be fascinated to see how it looks once these
[11:05] Speaker 3: guys throw the pads on and.
[11:07] Speaker 2: Mike one thing you said that's very important.
[11:08] Speaker 5: You talk about Washington defense, it should be much faster
[11:12] Speaker 5: the speed they added. Remember, Dearante Jones is a Brian
[11:15] Speaker 5: Flores disciple. The key to Flores the defense is speed
[11:18] Speaker 5: and also intellect. Those are the types of players that
[11:21] Speaker 5: they added to really get things corrected on that side
[11:23] Speaker 5: of the ball.
[11:23] Speaker 1: A team that was bottom ten and mistackle rate, the
[11:26] Speaker 1: worst tackling defense that Dan Quinn has had since twenty
[11:29] Speaker 1: eighteen in Atlanta. We will take a break here on
[11:32] Speaker 1: the Insiders when we come back, an opportunity to look ahead. Yes,
[11:36] Speaker 1: I much discuss all season trade, but what does it
[11:39] Speaker 1: actually mean.
[11:40] Speaker 2: We got a sneak peek at cam Wolf.
[11:41] Speaker 1: We'll actually hear from cam Wolf when we come back
[11:44] Speaker 1: on the NFL Network.
[11:53] Speaker 2: Back here on the Insiders.
[11:54] Speaker 1: This was today coming into the NFLLA Newsroomformer Lions cornerback
[11:58] Speaker 1: terry On Arnold has cleared waiver now a fridge.
[12:01] Speaker 2: According to the NFL Network and Cider Mariguerro.
[12:02] Speaker 1: Follo, Arnold is currently out on bond as he faces
[12:06] Speaker 1: multiple felony charges in Florida, and what an opportunity to
[12:09] Speaker 1: have access NFL networks ader MII Guerro follow Where do
[12:12] Speaker 1: we go from here? As this process continues to play
[12:15] Speaker 1: itself out legally?
[12:16] Speaker 3: Marke, Well, you've probably seen the teams are interested in
[12:19] Speaker 3: Terry On Arnold Patrick and you say, well, why wouldn't
[12:22] Speaker 3: they just claim him? Well, if you claim him, you're
[12:23] Speaker 3: taking on the whole roster or the whole contract, excuse me,
[12:26] Speaker 3: and putting all the guaranteed money as well. There are
[12:29] Speaker 3: teams that would be interested in, let's say, for the
[12:32] Speaker 3: minimum deal and taking on very little risk with Terry
[12:35] Speaker 3: On Arnold potentially moving forward. In addition to a lot
[12:38] Speaker 3: of questions that are unanswered right now when it comes
[12:41] Speaker 3: to the legal process, there was a hearing that was
[12:43] Speaker 3: supposed to be today, they got pushed back to Friday.
[12:45] Speaker 3: As far as whether he'll have to wear an ankle
[12:47] Speaker 3: monitor throughout the process.
[12:48] Speaker 4: So some of these teams, yes.
[12:51] Speaker 3: Will be interested, but not at the rate that they
[12:53] Speaker 3: would have had him at if they had claimed him
[12:56] Speaker 3: on waivers. So I think this will be a relatively
[12:58] Speaker 3: slow process. Arnold as teams go to compile information and
[13:02] Speaker 3: wait for the legal process to play out a little bit,
[13:04] Speaker 3: because remember, the NFL in a lot of cases will
[13:07] Speaker 3: wait until the legal process plays out before levying a suspension.
[13:10] Speaker 3: But sometimes in the meantime can say no, the commissioner
[13:13] Speaker 3: is exemplest because there's just too much evidence right now
[13:17] Speaker 3: that just doesn't look really good in our opinion or whatnot.
[13:21] Speaker 4: So teams waiting to get a little.
[13:22] Speaker 3: Bit more answers before we get a resolution on his
[13:25] Speaker 3: future in the NFL.
[13:26] Speaker 2: Patrick, Yeah, And while.
[13:27] Speaker 1: That process continues to play out, to the NFL and
[13:30] Speaker 1: cornerback world keep spinning as we go to veteran quarterback
[13:32] Speaker 1: with Stuell Douglas coming back to the NFC East to
[13:35] Speaker 1: play for the Washington Commanders. ESPN's Adam Cheffer reporting it's
[13:38] Speaker 1: a one year deal worth up to three point eight
[13:41] Speaker 1: million dollars the thirty one year old once drafted by
[13:44] Speaker 1: the Philadelphia Eagles in twenty seventeen. Elsewhere, former NFL safety
[13:49] Speaker 1: and pediatric neurosurgeon doctor Meymn Roll coming aboard the NFLPA
[13:53] Speaker 1: as a strategic advisor focusing on player health and preventative
[13:57] Speaker 1: care for active players and a statement he said he
[13:59] Speaker 1: is on to advance the future where every player's health
[14:02] Speaker 1: is protected with the highest standard of care.
[14:05] Speaker 2: Back Now with Mike Darryl Fold, cam Wolf.
[14:07] Speaker 1: Joining, let's get edingto you, Cam, Let's get to the
[14:09] Speaker 1: AFC East. Because there were some big moves. What is
[14:13] Speaker 1: the impact of all of these wide receiver trades going
[14:16] Speaker 1: to be?
[14:16] Speaker 2: Camp Patrick?
[14:19] Speaker 6: First, Let's keep it out on the Patriots and AJ Brown,
[14:21] Speaker 6: the one that we talked about all offseason. I talked
[14:24] Speaker 6: to a Patriots staffer who said they watched AJ Brown
[14:27] Speaker 6: a couple of weeks in practice and he looked different.
[14:29] Speaker 6: They said he looked explosive and athletic. He said they
[14:32] Speaker 6: looked at him in practice compared to that Eagles tape
[14:35] Speaker 6: last year, and he wondered maybe he was.
[14:37] Speaker 2: Going through the motions in Philly.
[14:38] Speaker 6: They think they are going to unlock the twenty three
[14:40] Speaker 6: to twenty version, twenty four version of AJ Brown, who
[14:43] Speaker 6: could be that elite number one receiver, and he certainly
[14:46] Speaker 6: has something to prove. He's in a place he wants
[14:48] Speaker 6: to play with, the quarterback he wants to play with,
[14:51] Speaker 6: and a guy they feel like can help. Drake may
[14:53] Speaker 6: not only be a contender for MVP, but be the
[14:56] Speaker 6: best quarterback in football, a guy who can flowed across
[14:59] Speaker 6: the middle of the feat, playmaking, big ball grabbing.
[15:02] Speaker 4: Over the middle of the field.
[15:03] Speaker 6: So can he be that guy that helps the Patriots
[15:05] Speaker 6: who are now playing a first play schedule this year?
[15:08] Speaker 6: Remember schedule was a big talking point for them last year.
[15:11] Speaker 6: Can they repeat in the AFC East against tougher opponents?
[15:14] Speaker 6: They think aj Brown is going to be that call
[15:17] Speaker 6: to help them over the top. How quickly does he
[15:19] Speaker 6: and Drake May? How quickly is he and Josh McDaniel
[15:22] Speaker 6: jeel is something that I can't wait to see in
[15:23] Speaker 6: training camp.
[15:24] Speaker 2: And then the other team.
[15:26] Speaker 6: That's probably going to be their top competition. The Buffalo
[15:28] Speaker 6: Bills made the big trade for DJ Moore. He's back
[15:31] Speaker 6: with the familiar face and Joe Brady offensive coordinator that
[15:34] Speaker 6: he had a lot of success with when he was
[15:36] Speaker 6: in Carolina now is his head coach. From what I've heard,
[15:39] Speaker 6: it's been a work in progress from their chemistry so far,
[15:42] Speaker 6: but they love what Dj Moore can.
[15:43] Speaker 2: Do as a man beater.
[15:45] Speaker 6: They haven't had a true man beater who can separate
[15:47] Speaker 6: since Stefan Diggs is there Josh Allen maybe the best
[15:50] Speaker 6: quarterback in football right now, and he's had to do
[15:52] Speaker 6: it with the collection of receivers who haven't really excelled.
[15:55] Speaker 2: For him at the right time. Is DJ Moore enough
[15:58] Speaker 2: to help.
[15:59] Speaker 6: The Buffalo bill get back over the top of the
[16:01] Speaker 6: AFC East.
[16:02] Speaker 2: I can't wait to get down there.
[16:04] Speaker 6: And Buffalo Area and see that battle and see that
[16:07] Speaker 6: development between those receiver and that quarterback, and that those
[16:11] Speaker 6: two moves may decide who wins the AFS as.
[16:15] Speaker 3: Much as they throw the ball right. They need a
[16:17] Speaker 3: high volume guy, and I know that they feel good
[16:18] Speaker 3: about DJ Moore being that high volume guy for them,
[16:21] Speaker 3: that production type guy. He's been that guy throughout his career.
[16:25] Speaker 3: He's incredibly reliable. He can make plays for you down
[16:28] Speaker 3: the field. So that is going to be a big
[16:30] Speaker 3: part of what they're expecting from DJ Moore, and that's
[16:33] Speaker 3: a big reason why they made that trade for him.
[16:35] Speaker 3: With regard to AJ Brown, that also is a guy
[16:39] Speaker 3: like both of these are really good fits for the
[16:41] Speaker 3: offense and for what they bring and for what the
[16:43] Speaker 3: offense is needed. When it comes to Brown, it's the
[16:46] Speaker 3: catch or the run after the catch. Excuse me, He's
[16:48] Speaker 3: been a big part of what he is. He's a physical,
[16:50] Speaker 3: bawling ball sometimes when he gets that ball in his
[16:53] Speaker 3: hands and he's moving down the field.
[16:54] Speaker 4: So I'd expect that to.
[16:56] Speaker 3: Be a big element of what he does and what
[16:58] Speaker 3: Drake may is going to rely on upon him to
[17:00] Speaker 3: do to add a physical element to their receiving corp.
[17:03] Speaker 1: Let's go over to the defensive side of the ball,
[17:05] Speaker 1: specifically that defense. Just to mention the Houston Texans defense camp,
[17:09] Speaker 1: they need everything that they needed to be in order
[17:12] Speaker 1: to win. Can the offense be consistent enough and maybe
[17:15] Speaker 1: physical enough for them to be contenders this year?
[17:19] Speaker 2: Absolutely?
[17:20] Speaker 6: Patrick, don't be surprised if the Houston Texans are in
[17:22] Speaker 6: the Super Bowl next year.
[17:23] Speaker 2: That's really the buzz that I've been hearing around the league.
[17:26] Speaker 6: They've already got a defense that is elite, top three,
[17:29] Speaker 6: maybe best in football. Last year, why were they not
[17:32] Speaker 6: like Seattle? Why were they not like New England? The
[17:34] Speaker 6: offense wasn't physical enough, the quarterback didn't play well enough
[17:38] Speaker 6: in the playoffs. And so this is a proven year
[17:40] Speaker 6: for CJ. Shroud, who is awaiting a new contract. This
[17:43] Speaker 6: is a proven year for that offense. Can they get
[17:45] Speaker 6: better a year or two under Nick Kyley, the offensive coordinator.
[17:48] Speaker 6: They made a lot of moves this offseason to get
[17:50] Speaker 6: physical like their defenses, and the two that I'm eyeing
[17:54] Speaker 6: is an offensive line improvement, two or three new pieces,
[17:57] Speaker 6: including their first round pick Keelan Rutledge and Montgomery.
[18:00] Speaker 2: I haven't heard anything but good praise.
[18:03] Speaker 6: About David Montgomery, who should set up as their feature back.
[18:06] Speaker 6: They believe that getting him going and getting that run
[18:09] Speaker 6: game going will make things a lot easier.
[18:11] Speaker 3: For c J.
[18:11] Speaker 2: Stroud. Talking to a defensive coordinator, he said that it
[18:14] Speaker 2: looked like c J.
[18:15] Speaker 6: Stroud had too much on his plate last year, from
[18:17] Speaker 6: protections to trying to throw everything in difficult routes. Easier
[18:21] Speaker 6: plays happen when your run game has a good success
[18:24] Speaker 6: and your offensive line has good protection. They should be
[18:27] Speaker 6: much better in both areas, and hopefully that allows CJ.
[18:30] Speaker 6: Stroud to be a lot more effective over the middle
[18:33] Speaker 6: of the field. Intermediate routes something that he was really
[18:35] Speaker 6: good at at his rookie year, and if he is,
[18:37] Speaker 6: then maybe he can be back at the table next
[18:39] Speaker 6: offseason for a contract conversation and say yesterday's price is
[18:43] Speaker 6: not today's price and rack.
[18:45] Speaker 4: Up Yeah, it's exactly where I'm going.
[18:48] Speaker 3: Because we started this show talking about a couple of
[18:50] Speaker 3: potential contract extensions in Lamar Jackson and Baker Mayfield, which
[18:54] Speaker 3: I think will happen at least before the start of
[18:56] Speaker 3: the season. We didn't mention CJ. Stroud because I don't
[18:59] Speaker 3: think it's going to have before the start of the
[19:00] Speaker 3: season because it doesn't really make sense for either side
[19:03] Speaker 3: right now.
[19:03] Speaker 4: Now.
[19:04] Speaker 3: I talk to people in Houston, they say there was
[19:06] Speaker 3: absolutely no wavering during that playoff game that maybe we
[19:10] Speaker 3: would bench him because I thought maybe they'd bention you
[19:12] Speaker 3: for Davis Mills there. But you do that, then you'll
[19:13] Speaker 3: lose them for good, right, Like you don't want that
[19:16] Speaker 3: to have to make that decision.
[19:18] Speaker 4: Now, you come into the offseason and if.
[19:19] Speaker 3: You're strouded, you take a deal, it's not going to
[19:22] Speaker 3: be tomorrow's price like Cam's talking about. If you come
[19:24] Speaker 3: out and you play well this year. So this is
[19:26] Speaker 3: a lot on the line for CJ. Stroud and for
[19:29] Speaker 3: the Texans. They're going to say, that's a good problem.
[19:31] Speaker 3: Make us pay you top of the market quarterback money
[19:34] Speaker 3: next offseason, because that means that you came out and
[19:36] Speaker 3: played a lot better than you did this past offseason.
[19:39] Speaker 3: I expect that to be where this one head CJ. Stroud,
[19:42] Speaker 3: I mean boom or bus when it comes to the earnings,
[19:45] Speaker 3: and even bus is not bad, right because you're still
[19:47] Speaker 3: making a ton of money as a quarterback who's competing
[19:50] Speaker 3: for a starting job somewhere. So that's a good safety net.
[19:52] Speaker 1: To have one thing that would help in that process.
[19:55] Speaker 1: Woody marks at a loss or no gain in eight
[19:58] Speaker 1: of his fourteen carries against New Wing, when perhaps some
[20:01] Speaker 1: success on the ground will go a long way towards
[20:03] Speaker 1: success for the financial prospects of one CJ.
[20:07] Speaker 2: Strout thanks to Campbell. We'll be back here on the
[20:09] Speaker 2: Insiders with Morning.
[20:10] Speaker 1: In fact, when we come back, you're unprepared for the
[20:13] Speaker 1: test that is your fantasy draft, nor worries.
[20:15] Speaker 2: We got a cheat sheet.
[20:16] Speaker 1: Of draft prep coming up with Adam Rank and Michael
[20:19] Speaker 1: f Florio next on the Insiders. Back on the Insiders.
[20:30] Speaker 1: Flag football is the fastest growing sport in the world.
[20:33] Speaker 1: A third annual NFL Flag Football Championships will be on ABC, ESPN,
[20:37] Speaker 1: NFL Network and ESPN two July twenty fourth through the
[20:40] Speaker 1: twenty six ESPN The Bortthdays and the Disney Networks. We'll
[20:43] Speaker 1: have additional coverage each day with all games on the
[20:46] Speaker 1: ESPN app. For more information, go to NFL flag dot com.
[20:52] Speaker 1: We have three in studio for the A twenty twenty
[20:55] Speaker 1: six fantasy football promer, myself, Michael f Floro and Adam Rank.
[20:59] Speaker 2: Sometimes we and even.
[21:00] Speaker 1: Get three folks together on fantasy them on this show.
[21:03] Speaker 1: I have already been asked rect for response from one
[21:07] Speaker 1: of your tweets. What that you shared it with the
[21:09] Speaker 1: people saying the SFB sixteen has started.
[21:13] Speaker 2: I already hate my team. What do you mean by
[21:15] Speaker 2: very true?
[21:15] Speaker 3: Yeah?
[21:16] Speaker 7: For anybody who has spent time on social media today.
[21:20] Speaker 7: In between the World Cup takes the Scott Fish Bowl
[21:23] Speaker 7: kicked off today, the sixteenth year of one of the
[21:26] Speaker 7: largest organized fantasy FOOTBA league.
[21:28] Speaker 2: Actually, there's many different leagues that are a part of this.
[21:31] Speaker 7: It all is to benefit Fantasy Cares, an organization that
[21:34] Speaker 7: Scott Fish has.
[21:35] Speaker 2: Started or is a big part of.
[21:37] Speaker 7: And it's just a bunch of people coming together drafting
[21:39] Speaker 7: fantasy football leagues, raising money for charity, having a good time.
[21:43] Speaker 7: I have my own league and I'm the pick twelve,
[21:46] Speaker 7: and I already I just.
[21:47] Speaker 2: Don't like the way that i'd started. Yeah, already already
[21:50] Speaker 2: reeling one day into it, all.
[21:53] Speaker 1: Right, Yeah, I traditionally hate my SFB teams as well.
[21:56] Speaker 1: So let's get people going so they don't hate their draft.
[21:58] Speaker 1: We'll get started with an idea three rounds start for
[22:01] Speaker 1: a draft R.
[22:02] Speaker 2: How would you set that up?
[22:03] Speaker 7: Well, one of the first things I will tell anybody
[22:05] Speaker 7: is that you have to realize what your scoring setting is.
[22:08] Speaker 7: Whether you're playing in a super flex league, which means
[22:10] Speaker 7: that you could start two quarterbacks as a tight end premium,
[22:13] Speaker 7: or are you starting three.
[22:13] Speaker 2: Receivers two receivers.
[22:15] Speaker 7: But based on let's say a league where you're going
[22:17] Speaker 7: with two wide receiver a couple of flex spots, I
[22:19] Speaker 7: like going wide receiver, wide receiver.
[22:21] Speaker 2: I think that's the best way.
[22:22] Speaker 7: As I've done multitudes of mock drafts this year, I've
[22:25] Speaker 7: decided that the running backs that I get in the
[22:28] Speaker 7: second round, I could easily replicate there in the third
[22:30] Speaker 7: and fourth round. So I love going wide receiver, wide receiver.
[22:33] Speaker 7: And based on what I'm seeing today in the scott
[22:35] Speaker 7: Fish Bowl, everybody is going wide receiver.
[22:38] Speaker 2: I actually went.
[22:39] Speaker 4: Tight end quarterback in Scott Fishing. I got weird.
[22:42] Speaker 2: It's a super flex.
[22:43] Speaker 3: It's very weird.
[22:44] Speaker 4: Don't count that for your regular dress.
[22:46] Speaker 8: I kind of agree, but a little different. I like
[22:48] Speaker 8: getting two water receivers in the first three rounds, but
[22:51] Speaker 8: I like a running back in round two because in
[22:54] Speaker 8: the first round that I could get one of the
[22:55] Speaker 8: top six water receivers.
[22:56] Speaker 4: I think those are the elite guys at the position.
[22:58] Speaker 8: But then in round two there's running backs like Hampton, Chase, Brown,
[23:02] Speaker 8: Saquon h and the list goes on.
[23:03] Speaker 3: That I would argue a lot of those guys.
[23:05] Speaker 8: Could you can make a case our first round talents
[23:07] Speaker 8: that are falling, And then in round three, like I
[23:09] Speaker 8: love chrysal Lave, but there's a lot of good wide
[23:11] Speaker 8: receivers you could get in that range.
[23:13] Speaker 1: Yeah, a lot of good wide receivers, which is why
[23:14] Speaker 1: I had George Pickens as the third option in my
[23:18] Speaker 1: three round ideal. Where you start with Jamar Chase at
[23:22] Speaker 1: the top, it's like, oh, they have the three pick
[23:23] Speaker 1: you don't get Bijan or Jamir Well, you have to
[23:26] Speaker 1: settle for the overall wide receiper point boohoo. Considering that,
[23:30] Speaker 1: and then in the middle of that getting Kenneth Walker,
[23:32] Speaker 1: where there's a lot of people are paying up for opportunity. Well,
[23:36] Speaker 1: here's a guy we've wanted this position. We wanted the
[23:38] Speaker 1: running back of the Kansas City Chiefs. This one we
[23:40] Speaker 1: think can actually be productive. So that's where I go.
[23:43] Speaker 1: But speaking of RB one, let's go overall rbs an opportunity.
[23:47] Speaker 2: Who are the new RB ones that you need to
[23:49] Speaker 2: have on your team.
[23:50] Speaker 8: A lot of the similar names from last year in
[23:52] Speaker 8: my top twelve, which is what an RB one is
[23:54] Speaker 8: for fantasy purposes, but you hit them.
[23:56] Speaker 2: Kenneth Walker is now in there for me.
[23:58] Speaker 8: Jeremiah Love is in my He just barely makes it,
[24:01] Speaker 8: but he's in my top twelve. And then O'marion Hampton
[24:04] Speaker 8: is someone that I'm really pushing up. I am very
[24:06] Speaker 8: bullish on o'mari and Hampton this year because, look, he
[24:09] Speaker 8: was a first round pick of the NFL draft. We
[24:11] Speaker 8: know he could play, and he was performing like an
[24:14] Speaker 8: RB one until he got hurt. But the reason I'm
[24:16] Speaker 8: so excited is because of Mike McDaniel, who is there
[24:19] Speaker 8: and who features running backs in the passing game at
[24:21] Speaker 8: a very high rate. In fact, in the last two years,
[24:24] Speaker 8: Devon a. Chen has more targets than any running back
[24:27] Speaker 8: in the NFL plus three year even before h N
[24:31] Speaker 8: three years in a row, Mike McDaniel's lead running back
[24:33] Speaker 8: has been top five in fantasy because he just he
[24:36] Speaker 8: finds one guy and he force feeds him.
[24:38] Speaker 4: And I think that'll be Hampton this year.
[24:39] Speaker 7: And here's one of those things too, you gotta watch
[24:41] Speaker 7: out for because Hampton, his ADP is going to be
[24:43] Speaker 7: rising throughout the summer. He's gonna be one of those
[24:45] Speaker 7: players that you'll have to get in the second round.
[24:47] Speaker 7: So if you're willing to make him a second second
[24:49] Speaker 7: round pick, then more power to you. I think that
[24:51] Speaker 7: I tend to lean towards waiting again for the running backs.
[24:54] Speaker 7: And one of the guys that I'm very, very excited
[24:57] Speaker 7: to be able to draft once again David Montgomery. My
[24:59] Speaker 7: guy David Montgomery. I can fully go out there invest
[25:02] Speaker 7: in him. And one of the things that I love
[25:04] Speaker 7: is he's going to a team in a situation in
[25:06] Speaker 7: Houston where he's by far going to be there RB one.
[25:08] Speaker 7: But they're also a defensive oriented team, which means they're
[25:11] Speaker 7: going to want to slow down a lot of these games.
[25:13] Speaker 7: Let the defense go out there and do a lot
[25:15] Speaker 7: of the work, which means you bleed the clock. And
[25:18] Speaker 7: if they get into a lead and they're trying to
[25:19] Speaker 7: salt away a game, that means more opportunities for David Montgomery.
[25:22] Speaker 2: He's going to be their goal line back. So I
[25:24] Speaker 2: really love.
[25:24] Speaker 7: Him in that situation. But I also love some rookie
[25:27] Speaker 7: running backs as well. We talked about Jeremiah Love a
[25:29] Speaker 7: moment ago. Jendarium Price is another guy that I'm looking
[25:32] Speaker 7: forward to again. If you can get him at the
[25:34] Speaker 7: right price, I'm really worried again once we get in
[25:38] Speaker 7: to the late August months. This is one of the
[25:40] Speaker 7: advantages of doing drafts right now is that the price
[25:44] Speaker 7: for guys like Juderian have not been not been elevated,
[25:49] Speaker 7: which means you can go out it there and get
[25:51] Speaker 7: him right now, except that all the guys in my
[25:52] Speaker 7: league now we'll take him.
[25:54] Speaker 1: I'm going to throw an Asterroskin because not technically at
[25:57] Speaker 1: RB one playing behind Chewba Hubber, but I think folks
[25:59] Speaker 1: have forgotten generally about Jonathan Brooks, and I think you
[26:02] Speaker 1: can get a real value proposition for a guy who's
[26:04] Speaker 1: playing behind a guy who didn't ultimately end up being
[26:07] Speaker 1: the RB one on his team. Last year that wound
[26:10] Speaker 1: up being Rico Dubell. I think they want to split
[26:12] Speaker 1: carriers and opportunities there, so maybe get some shares of
[26:16] Speaker 1: Jonathan Brooks. Just a note, as folks were drafting a
[26:19] Speaker 1: lot of guys, especially these rookies pretty early on, let's
[26:22] Speaker 1: go to quarterbacks because so many of them are coming
[26:25] Speaker 1: back from injury. Are you concerned which ones would you target?
[26:29] Speaker 7: You know what, I'm going to say something about Kyler Murray,
[26:31] Speaker 7: and I don't know if it's necessarily about Kyler Murray.
[26:34] Speaker 7: I love KOC. KOC to me is like the Bill
[26:38] Speaker 7: Lawrence of the NFL. If you're not familiar with who
[26:40] Speaker 7: Bill Lawrence is. He's one of the creators.
[26:42] Speaker 2: Behind Scrubs, Shrinking Ted Lasso.
[26:45] Speaker 1: I'm looking at his Wikipedia right now. Yeah, he wont Friends.
[26:50] Speaker 1: Yeah there is obviously yeah season one of Friends. Yeah,
[26:53] Speaker 1: the best season, will you talk about it? The best
[26:56] Speaker 1: season of Chandler. This is going to be the best
[26:58] Speaker 1: season of Kyler Murray. One of the things that I
[27:00] Speaker 1: really like about this this is.
[27:01] Speaker 7: The first time that KOC is going to have a
[27:04] Speaker 7: quarterback who has that running option. No disrespect to Kirk
[27:07] Speaker 7: Cousins and Sam Darnold, but this is a real opportunity
[27:10] Speaker 7: for him to go out there take advantage of a
[27:12] Speaker 7: guy's running skill set to go along with his ability.
[27:15] Speaker 2: I think it matches up really well. So I love
[27:17] Speaker 2: Kyler Murray this year.
[27:18] Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm fully in agreement.
[27:19] Speaker 2: I love Kyler.
[27:20] Speaker 8: We're gonna probably be trying to draft him in our
[27:22] Speaker 8: leagues together. For me, though, it always depends on the quarterback, right,
[27:25] Speaker 8: Because I love Kyler Murray this year. I love Jayden
[27:27] Speaker 8: Daniels this year, and I think Jayden's upside is matched
[27:30] Speaker 8: by like Josh Allen Lamar Jackson, and that's it.
[27:32] Speaker 2: I would say.
[27:33] Speaker 8: I also really like Jackson Dart right, Like, these are
[27:35] Speaker 8: all quarterbacks who are coming off of injury that I
[27:39] Speaker 8: don't think it's going to impact this year. I expect
[27:41] Speaker 8: all three of these guys to run a whole bunch.
[27:44] Speaker 8: I love their offenses that they're a part of, and
[27:47] Speaker 8: for a lot of them, missing time last year tends
[27:49] Speaker 8: to lead to a buying opportunity this year. Except for one,
[27:53] Speaker 8: I'm fading Patrick Mahomes at cost, like coming off the
[27:56] Speaker 8: acl running is what made him so special last year,
[27:59] Speaker 8: and I've been I think Kenneth Walker's going to get
[28:01] Speaker 8: force fed and they're the Chiefs. They don't care about
[28:03] Speaker 8: anything until January. They're gonna be like Patrick, wait until
[28:06] Speaker 8: December to start running.
[28:07] Speaker 1: Yeah, just kind of extracting that value from Patrick Mahomes
[28:10] Speaker 1: and putting it back into Kenneth Walker.
[28:12] Speaker 2: Just generally, I think if the quarterback is.
[28:15] Speaker 1: Playing and you just kind of get rid of the
[28:17] Speaker 1: concerns about injury, like Joe Burrow being a two time
[28:20] Speaker 1: comeback Player of the Year, Lamar Jackson comes back from
[28:23] Speaker 1: starting those twelve games.
[28:25] Speaker 2: Yeah, it has back to back.
[28:26] Speaker 1: Great fantasy football seasons, and so I just think if
[28:30] Speaker 1: you get the player and you like the situation, you
[28:33] Speaker 1: just kind of stick there and feel good about the
[28:36] Speaker 1: opportunity that the players can have. And sometimes they have
[28:39] Speaker 1: those opportunities with rookies. Our rookie wide receivers might worth
[28:44] Speaker 1: the risk right now, just the unknown.
[28:46] Speaker 8: Yeah, I think they are, especially this year, the big
[28:49] Speaker 8: three in that rookie class, like we all heard about
[28:52] Speaker 8: it all March and April, Tyson, Tate and Lemon and
[28:55] Speaker 8: for me, all three are wide receiver threes in my rankings.
[28:58] Speaker 8: They're all between thirty and thirty five, and Tait is
[29:02] Speaker 8: my favorite post NFL draft because every rookie since twenty
[29:07] Speaker 8: ten taken in the top five has seen at least
[29:09] Speaker 8: one hundred and fifteen targets if they stayed healthy, and
[29:11] Speaker 8: Brian Dable has just a huge history of force feeding
[29:14] Speaker 8: his wide receiver wons the ball, even when he had
[29:17] Speaker 8: Molik Neighbors who was a rookie.
[29:19] Speaker 2: Jordan Tyson was.
[29:20] Speaker 8: My favorite as a prospect though, and I just really
[29:22] Speaker 8: think he could play the Saints through at the sixth
[29:25] Speaker 8: highest rate last year. I think he is going to
[29:27] Speaker 8: be a big complimentary piece. And then Lemon is my
[29:29] Speaker 8: least favorite of the three, but he's tied to the
[29:31] Speaker 8: best offense of them all. So I think all three
[29:33] Speaker 8: are high upside wide receiver threes.
[29:35] Speaker 7: And I was gonna be able to I was gonna
[29:37] Speaker 7: run in here and just talk about, you know, the
[29:40] Speaker 7: rookie wall and all those wide receivers running smack into it.
[29:43] Speaker 7: But at the same time what you were talking about
[29:45] Speaker 7: with my Lak Neighbors, there are players who have excelled.
[29:47] Speaker 7: I mean last year in Mecca, Abuca fell off tremendously
[29:51] Speaker 7: and cost a lot of people, mostly me. But like
[29:54] Speaker 7: you said, my neighbors a couple of years ago with
[29:56] Speaker 7: somebody who did play well in the Fantasy playoffs. I don't
[30:00] Speaker 7: think that these three guys match that. I don't think
[30:02] Speaker 7: they're on the same caliber. So for me, I'm gonna
[30:04] Speaker 7: let the rookie wide receivers kind of fall by the wayside.
[30:06] Speaker 2: But there is one I really do like.
[30:08] Speaker 7: It is Casey conceptsi On, who is playing for the
[30:10] Speaker 7: Cleveland Browns. Now when you look at this situation the quarterbacks,
[30:14] Speaker 7: the quarterback thing is a little murky there, to put
[30:17] Speaker 7: it mildly, But at the same time, I went back
[30:20] Speaker 7: and started watching a lot of Casey's tape at Texas
[30:23] Speaker 7: A and M and lamp Zerline made the comp to
[30:26] Speaker 7: Doug Baldwin and now I can't unsee it. So if
[30:29] Speaker 7: I get an opportunity to go after k C.
[30:31] Speaker 2: Conceptcy On at the end of my draft, I'm going
[30:33] Speaker 2: to go out and do it.
[30:34] Speaker 1: And that's the place for a lot of these rookies
[30:36] Speaker 1: is those late round flyer type situations because.
[30:38] Speaker 2: You don't know.
[30:39] Speaker 1: I just think the knownes are so prevalent, especially in
[30:42] Speaker 1: that range where like Romo Dunza is there, they can
[30:45] Speaker 1: get to Alec Pierce around thirty nine in ADP guys
[30:48] Speaker 1: who are going to get more opportunity where it's just
[30:52] Speaker 1: so much of the unknown that you can kind of
[30:55] Speaker 1: go with what you know depending on the circumstance. Let's
[30:57] Speaker 1: wrap this up with some of these premium tight ends.
[31:01] Speaker 2: Who is your favorite right now?
[31:02] Speaker 4: Right?
[31:03] Speaker 2: Is this necessarious ask? Let's go No, just listen. Colson
[31:07] Speaker 2: Lovelan is gonna be my guy.
[31:09] Speaker 7: I had a conversation with Stacey Dale's on Friday talking
[31:11] Speaker 7: about the impact that Colston Lovelin had last year, and
[31:15] Speaker 7: one of the big things that obviously they went out
[31:17] Speaker 7: there and they drafted Sam Rousch, and they've got three
[31:19] Speaker 7: tight ends, and people are are they gonna trade Cole Comett.
[31:21] Speaker 3: They're not.
[31:22] Speaker 7: They're gonna run all three. They're gonna run a lot
[31:23] Speaker 7: of thirteen personnel. The one thing you have to remember
[31:26] Speaker 7: is that Colston Loveland is basically their slot receiver. If
[31:30] Speaker 7: you go back to his time at Michigan, he ran
[31:32] Speaker 7: about fifty percent of his routes from the slot position.
[31:34] Speaker 2: Ben Johnson started doing that at the end of last year.
[31:36] Speaker 7: As a matter of fact, there were games last season
[31:39] Speaker 7: where Colston Lovelin outsnapped Cole Comet. This is going to
[31:42] Speaker 7: be the pass catcher that you want to get from
[31:44] Speaker 7: the Chicago Bears.
[31:45] Speaker 8: Yeah, and I'm gonna go with the tight end that's
[31:46] Speaker 8: going to be tied to Colston Loveland probably their entire
[31:49] Speaker 8: career in Tyler Warren. And to me, both of these
[31:51] Speaker 8: two were the next two after Bowers and McBride.
[31:54] Speaker 2: At the tight end position.
[31:55] Speaker 8: But I really like Warren and I think Michael Pittman
[31:57] Speaker 8: Junior being gone is huge because the two of them,
[32:00] Speaker 8: we're eating off of each other's plates on these short
[32:02] Speaker 8: to intermediate targets. Warren isn't going to excel downfield. He
[32:06] Speaker 8: can be used there, but short to intermediate is where
[32:08] Speaker 8: he's going to eat.
[32:09] Speaker 3: And people might be like, oh, well he fell off
[32:11] Speaker 3: as the year went on.
[32:12] Speaker 2: Yeah, that's when Daniel Jones got hurt. He was a
[32:15] Speaker 2: top tight end prior to that injury.
[32:18] Speaker 8: And then I also really like Sam Laporta, who I
[32:20] Speaker 8: think is getting overlooked right now. Last season he had
[32:23] Speaker 8: a career high in receiving yards per game. He has
[32:26] Speaker 8: the third most touchdowns at the position since he entered
[32:29] Speaker 8: the NFL and Drew Petsing. Look, I'm not going to
[32:32] Speaker 8: say Sam Laporta is going to become Trey McBride.
[32:34] Speaker 2: But Drew Petsing really.
[32:36] Speaker 8: Dialed up the tight end number a lot in Arizona,
[32:38] Speaker 8: and more than anything, he's just tied.
[32:40] Speaker 2: To a really good offense. It's going to score a
[32:42] Speaker 2: lot of points.
[32:42] Speaker 8: So give me the probably top red zone target for
[32:46] Speaker 8: the Detroit Lions.
[32:46] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[32:47] Speaker 1: I think in terms of freemium options, sometimes you have
[32:51] Speaker 1: to seek a value proposition. I know it's like, oh,
[32:52] Speaker 1: Patrick's always shopped in the bargain basement.
[32:54] Speaker 2: Tucker Craft was dominating them.
[32:56] Speaker 1: Yeah for so long that so many people are going
[32:59] Speaker 1: to focus on Well, we don't necessarily know when he's
[33:02] Speaker 1: going back. If you did Tucker Craft and yeah, you
[33:04] Speaker 1: have a few losses in the first three weeks of
[33:06] Speaker 1: the season, you're you're trying to win championships. I think
[33:08] Speaker 1: there's a value here in people perhaps sleeping on Tucker Craft,
[33:12] Speaker 1: and you.
[33:12] Speaker 2: Can get a premium tight end in a value spot.
[33:16] Speaker 2: You'd like to provide value here. So I'm glad to
[33:19] Speaker 2: have you guys with me on this. I'm required to
[33:22] Speaker 2: say Kyle fitz too. Yes, I'm back in baby, just all.
[33:25] Speaker 1: The way, in no context, just purely Kyle Pitts as
[33:28] Speaker 1: a statement Adam ranked Michael Floro here on the Insiders
[33:32] Speaker 1: think you're coming back.
[33:33] Speaker 3: I believe that.
[33:34] Speaker 8: Thank you, thank you, thank you for coming thank you
[33:38] Speaker 8: for making it across the way, across the world.
[33:41] Speaker 2: You the best, baby, absolute best was an electric It
[33:46] Speaker 2: was unbelievable.
[33:49] Speaker 3: Travison Taylor got married over the holiday weekend at Madison
[33:53] Speaker 3: Square Guarding last Friday, yep.
[33:55] Speaker 4: Third of July.
[33:56] Speaker 3: None of these pictures from the wedding. How do I
[33:58] Speaker 3: know that? Because no pictures of the wedding are actually
[34:00] Speaker 3: out there, although some of the guests, including are Rich
[34:03] Speaker 3: Eisen have posted a few of themselves. So still waiting
[34:07] Speaker 3: for the dress drop, the dere dress drop that is
[34:11] Speaker 3: to come. In the meantime. Here are a bunch of
[34:14] Speaker 3: Travis Kelsey's top plays from Good Morning Football.
[34:18] Speaker 6: My peak for the top Travis kelcey play is his
[34:23] Speaker 6: winner that he scored in overtime.
[34:24] Speaker 2: He gets the Bills back in twenty twenty one to
[34:26] Speaker 2: AFC Divisional round.
[34:28] Speaker 5: They were in Arrowhead and the crowd with absolutely mess
[34:30] Speaker 5: as you can imagine.
[34:31] Speaker 2: Let's go ahead and take a look.
[34:33] Speaker 9: Mahomes will be in a shotgun. Mckennon's alone running back
[34:36] Speaker 9: thirty six thirty six tie in overtime, Chiefs first down
[34:39] Speaker 9: in goal to go, Mahomes looks to throw it pump
[34:42] Speaker 9: faking right side.
[34:43] Speaker 2: He wants a tuck out top. It is cooked by Kelsey.
[34:46] Speaker 10: Touchdown Duns sitting one of the greatest stools in the
[34:52] Speaker 10: history of the National Football League.
[34:55] Speaker 11: Patrick Mahomes to Travis Kelsey on a push fake come back.
[35:00] Speaker 11: Chiefs have won this incredible divisional playoff game and overtime.
[35:07] Speaker 2: Oh that was awesome.
[35:08] Speaker 4: I'm going with another overtime win.
[35:12] Speaker 2: However, this one was against a division rival. Let's see it.
[35:16] Speaker 9: Riston ten Chiefs at the charger thirty four a TD
[35:19] Speaker 9: wins it twenty eight to twenty eight times in overtime.
[35:23] Speaker 2: Edwards Hilaire, the running back to the left of my Homes.
[35:27] Speaker 9: Mahomes takes the snap of his right thigh, dumps it
[35:29] Speaker 9: over the middle of cuck by Kelsey.
[35:30] Speaker 2: At the thirty spends back of height Kelsey at.
[35:33] Speaker 10: The fifteen yards on Kelsey.
[35:34] Speaker 2: At the turn five touchdown.
[35:37] Speaker 10: Cansas City, in the biggest AFC West game in five years,
[35:43] Speaker 10: the Chiefs put the hammer down with the thirty four
[35:46] Speaker 10: yard touchdown pass. My Holmes take Kelsey with a gutsy, gutsy,
[35:53] Speaker 10: gutsy wining overtime.
[35:56] Speaker 12: Derwin James is like, I have another play that I
[35:58] Speaker 12: would like to show with the goal line with Travis Kelsey,
[36:00] Speaker 12: but it wouldn't involve a Travis kelce tops lay. Those
[36:02] Speaker 12: are fantastic, but I want to go not just with
[36:05] Speaker 12: the score, but also with big time athleticism. And we
[36:07] Speaker 12: look no further than an AFC title game just a
[36:09] Speaker 12: couple of years ago, back in twenty twenty three against
[36:11] Speaker 12: the Baltimore Ravens, always known for their physical defense, well,
[36:15] Speaker 12: Travis kelcey set the tone against Baltimore.
[36:18] Speaker 9: Mahomes to throw against a four man rush, finds it
[36:21] Speaker 9: on your side to Kelty.
[36:22] Speaker 2: Comes back to the.
[36:23] Speaker 10: Ball and holds it in just touchdown. Cansas City, go
[36:28] Speaker 10: all day, boy ay Gord to you again.
[36:32] Speaker 2: Donald Patrick.
[36:34] Speaker 11: Mahomes absolutely took duct tape and just wrapped the ball
[36:38] Speaker 11: around the waist of Travis kelce for a nineteen yard touchdown.
[36:42] Speaker 2: Outstanding job, a lot of contact down the sideline, sticks
[36:46] Speaker 2: it right on his back hip.
[36:48] Speaker 9: It is one of the great catches by Kelsey.
[36:52] Speaker 3: From Travis to Travis Travis Hunter, Yeah, Red White and
[36:56] Speaker 3: duvall over the fourth of July. Hunter who season ended
[37:01] Speaker 3: prematurely this last year as rookie season because of a
[37:04] Speaker 3: knee injury. You see what he did offensive snaps, defensive snaps.
[37:09] Speaker 3: A low to talk this spring about more of a
[37:11] Speaker 3: focus for him defensively, Steve Weisch, come on in as
[37:15] Speaker 3: we talk about Travis Hunter year number two for the
[37:17] Speaker 3: two way player there in Jacksonville.
[37:20] Speaker 4: What can we expect?
[37:21] Speaker 3: What do we think about everything we're here and with
[37:23] Speaker 3: regard to more of an emphasis on defense for him, Yeah.
[37:25] Speaker 5: Micause the shame he got injured because all signs were
[37:28] Speaker 5: showing he was on an uptick on both sides of
[37:29] Speaker 5: the ball. He was playing last year as a rookie.
[37:32] Speaker 5: Now there has been a lot of conversation about him
[37:34] Speaker 5: being more used more primarily on defense, but there's been
[37:39] Speaker 5: no real official ruling on that. The main thing is
[37:41] Speaker 5: he's got to return from that LCL healthy. He barely
[37:43] Speaker 5: participated in field drills you know, during the offseason works,
[37:47] Speaker 5: so they want to make sure he's healthy. He's projected
[37:49] Speaker 5: to be healthy when training camp starts. But again, if
[37:52] Speaker 5: he plays more so on defense, that will fall in line, Mike,
[37:55] Speaker 5: because you know this with a lot of talent evaluators
[37:57] Speaker 5: when he was coming out as a rookie who felt
[37:58] Speaker 5: he could have more of an immediate impact as a cornerback,
[38:01] Speaker 5: a lockdown cornerback in man an zone coverages, even though
[38:05] Speaker 5: he's such an athletic freak. You see right here what
[38:07] Speaker 5: he can do with his hands on the ball as
[38:09] Speaker 5: a receiver. Also, look at Jacksonville's receiving room last year.
[38:12] Speaker 5: The trade for Jacobe Myers was a difference maker for them.
[38:14] Speaker 5: They have Brian Thomas junior, Parker Washington. Don't forget they
[38:18] Speaker 5: signed tight end Brent Strange to that big extension recently,
[38:21] Speaker 5: so that's a crowded space. But he could be used
[38:23] Speaker 5: there also on offense, but defensively again, that's a good secondary.
[38:27] Speaker 5: He's got pass rushers up front and Mike should he
[38:29] Speaker 5: open the season at corner.
[38:31] Speaker 2: Look at the.
[38:31] Speaker 5: Jaguars schedules some of the receivers he'd have to face
[38:34] Speaker 5: out of the gate. The Browns rookies case he concepts
[38:37] Speaker 5: you own and Denzel Boston, Jalen Wattle and Courtland Sutton
[38:40] Speaker 5: of the Broncos, AJ Brown and Romeo Doves Dobbs of
[38:43] Speaker 5: the Patriots. T Higgins and Jamar Chase with the Bengals,
[38:47] Speaker 5: Devonte Smith, Malachi Lemmon with the Eagles, and Nico Collins.
[38:51] Speaker 2: In the first six games.
[38:53] Speaker 5: I mean, that's why Jacksonville got him, because he can
[38:55] Speaker 5: play dB and match up with those guys.
[38:57] Speaker 2: But he'll be put to the test if that's his
[38:59] Speaker 2: primary spot.
[39:00] Speaker 5: Like again, you know this, a lot of evaluators thought
[39:02] Speaker 5: he was a more natural corner than he was an
[39:04] Speaker 5: impactful receiver early on in his career.
[39:07] Speaker 3: Yeah, he was asked after he was drafted by the
[39:10] Speaker 3: Jacksonville media, who would win Travis Hunter the cornerback or
[39:14] Speaker 3: Travis Hunter the wide receiver? If Travis Hunter covered Travis Hunter,
[39:17] Speaker 3: he replied, Travis Hunter, I still want to know the
[39:20] Speaker 3: real answer, like in his mind, does he think he'd
[39:22] Speaker 3: win defensively or offensively? The next time I got a
[39:25] Speaker 3: chance to interview, I'm going to reask that question, especially
[39:27] Speaker 3: now where that emphasis more on defense.
[39:29] Speaker 4: Veterans report there for the Jaguars.
[39:30] Speaker 3: July twenty eighth training camp is drawing closer.
[39:34] Speaker 2: So we hope everyone had a safe and happy Fourth
[39:37] Speaker 2: of July.
[39:38] Speaker 1: The nationwide love going out from the Seattle Seahawks. Of course,
[39:42] Speaker 1: Sloomanfield is Seattle Stadium tonight, the home of the game
[39:47] Speaker 1: between Belgium.
[39:48] Speaker 2: And the US men's national team. Good luck going out from.
[39:51] Speaker 1: The Seahawks and probably a lot of folks in Seattle
[39:55] Speaker 1: and across those Ustatos nidos. Hey funny story happens. So
[40:00] Speaker 1: Olivia Coppoletti is getting married in New York. Turns out
[40:04] Speaker 1: the presidential suite she reserved was booked up by the
[40:07] Speaker 1: Cardinals when they have those road games in New York.
[40:10] Speaker 1: So she sends a heartfelt email to Matt Lafleur because
[40:14] Speaker 1: that's who she.
[40:15] Speaker 2: Thought the room was for.
[40:16] Speaker 1: Turns out it was actually for the boss, Michael Bidwell,
[40:19] Speaker 1: who had a fun response for her.
[40:23] Speaker 13: Hi, Olivia, I'm Michael Bidwell from the Arizona Cardinals. Your email,
[40:27] Speaker 13: which I absolutely loved, made its way to me. I
[40:31] Speaker 13: looked into it. The situation's a little complicated. The suite
[40:35] Speaker 13: you requested wasn't reserved for the coach of the Cardinals,
[40:38] Speaker 13: but rather the owner of the Cardinals. The good news
[40:41] Speaker 13: is that's me, and I'm happy to give it up
[40:44] Speaker 13: to you and your Bridesmace to use during your wedding weekend.
[40:47] Speaker 13: Congrats and enjoy your special day.
[40:50] Speaker 1: All right, So Michael Bidwell has earned a new Cardinals
[40:54] Speaker 1: fan for that special day.
[40:56] Speaker 3: Mark, don't stop, Olivia, keep going. He can fly planes
[41:00] Speaker 3: and fly you to your honeymoon private. Keep pushing for more.
[41:04] Speaker 3: Negotiate you got this, Olivia.
[41:05] Speaker 1: Yeah, and it's one of those things where deadlines spur action.
[41:10] Speaker 2: We've talked about a lot of contract deals. Olivia.
[41:12] Speaker 1: I will echo Mike's sentiments. We can get more out
[41:16] Speaker 1: of this. You want more Insiders, Texans linebacker Henry to
[41:19] Speaker 1: Toe and his bride join the show, as.
[41:21] Speaker 2: We will keep things marriage teamed here.
[41:23] Speaker 1: In this final bit of the Insiders from my gar
[41:25] Speaker 1: follow Steve Wise Campbell.
[41:26] Speaker 2: I'm back to Clambot. We'll see you tomorrow.
