[0:07] Speaker 1: A day for joint practices like we had here in
[0:10] Speaker 1: Los Angeles as well in Foxborody training camp practices in
[0:15] Speaker 1: Glendale and in Buffalo in another hour of the Insider's
[0:18] Speaker 1: coming here right now on NFL Network. Everybody, Welcome to
[0:23] Speaker 1: the Insider's Patrick Claybomb here in the NFL LA Newsroom.
[0:26] Speaker 1: Fun day of joint practices where we got to see
[0:28] Speaker 1: some competition, friendly and not so friendly.
[0:31] Speaker 2: We'll get to that, but we start with a competition
[0:34] Speaker 2: for a quarterback, which is.
[0:35] Speaker 1: What's new today coming into the NFL LA Newsroom. The
[0:38] Speaker 1: Vikings have named the winner of the quarterback competition between
[0:41] Speaker 1: Kyler Murray and j J.
[0:41] Speaker 2: McCarthy. It is Kyler.
[0:43] Speaker 1: Head coach Kevin O'Connell says the timing allows them to
[0:46] Speaker 1: provide clarity and move forward towards the season.
[0:49] Speaker 3: For more.
[0:49] Speaker 2: Let's get to the NFL Network insider Ian Rappaport.
[0:53] Speaker 4: The Minnesota Vikings made clear earlier today when had become
[0:56] Speaker 4: evident if you've tracked their practices the last several days,
[1:00] Speaker 4: Kyler Murray is going to be their starting quarterback. Coach
[1:02] Speaker 4: Kevin O'Connell informed the team earlier today, and to be real,
[1:06] Speaker 4: this was something that has been in the work since
[1:08] Speaker 4: Kyler signed as a big ticket free agent in March.
[1:12] Speaker 5: He picked the Vikings.
[1:13] Speaker 4: They picked him for this very reason, and in explaining
[1:16] Speaker 4: the decision, what Kevin O'Connell said, it's what this could
[1:20] Speaker 4: be that jumps out the potential, the athleticism, the playmaking ability.
[1:25] Speaker 4: The reason that they wanted Kyler Murray in the first
[1:28] Speaker 4: place has played out during the preseason practices and the
[1:31] Speaker 4: reality is his superpower comes when plays breakdown in games.
[1:36] Speaker 4: That is what they're looking forward to seeing. JJ McCarthy,
[1:39] Speaker 4: former first round er. Now he heads to the bench.
[1:42] Speaker 4: He will buy his time. He will try to quietly
[1:45] Speaker 4: develop and see when he gets his opportunity in Minnesota.
[1:49] Speaker 5: His story is not fully written, but whatever the outcome.
[1:52] Speaker 4: Is going to be, it's going to start on the
[1:53] Speaker 4: bench watching Kyler Murray as the starter.
[1:57] Speaker 1: Hella will be starting that game against the Green Bay
[2:00] Speaker 1: in Minnesota. The Steelers are the ones who play host
[2:02] Speaker 1: to the Packers Thursday for their preseason opener. Going to
[2:05] Speaker 1: be the final preseason opener for Aaron Rodgers on a
[2:08] Speaker 1: roster the quarterback offering his view of preseason in general
[2:13] Speaker 1: this week.
[2:15] Speaker 6: Oh, it's preseason it's not real football. So if I
[2:18] Speaker 6: do great, if not great.
[2:21] Speaker 2: And if you don't play, what do you do during
[2:24] Speaker 2: the game, like help will and you're amazing.
[2:27] Speaker 6: I like to be on the headset and calm everybody down.
[2:29] Speaker 6: Usually the first game it's a little hectic on the headset,
[2:32] Speaker 6: so I like to be the voice of reason, occasional
[2:36] Speaker 6: dad joke or one liner, just keep everybody settled in
[2:40] Speaker 6: a little bit.
[2:41] Speaker 1: Oh you don't like the preseason games, well now joint
[2:44] Speaker 1: practice that goes on.
[2:45] Speaker 2: And we got to see a few starting today.
[2:47] Speaker 1: The Colts and the Patriots in Foxborough, the Buccaneers and
[2:50] Speaker 1: jetson Flora Park, the Titans and the forty nine ers
[2:52] Speaker 1: in Santa Clara and they're at the Woodland Hills facility.
[2:55] Speaker 1: The Cowboys and the Rams were moments ago. Steve Wish
[2:59] Speaker 1: was the that are a navigator of Los Angeles. Able
[3:01] Speaker 1: to get back to us here in studio, Thanks for
[3:03] Speaker 1: coming in. See so you got to see some of
[3:06] Speaker 1: the most talented wide receiver groups in all the football.
[3:08] Speaker 2: Oh my good. The practice was so star study.
[3:10] Speaker 7: But you know, on one time you've got Ceedee Lamb
[3:12] Speaker 7: and George Pickens the other side, Pooka Nakua and DeVante Adams.
[3:16] Speaker 7: But first off, just a couple things about this practice
[3:18] Speaker 7: that the coaches decided no one on one work. This
[3:20] Speaker 7: was all teamwork. So after just loosening up, both sides
[3:24] Speaker 7: got after it. One versus two's one versus ones. But
[3:27] Speaker 7: let's start with Dallas and Cedee Lamb and George Pickens.
[3:30] Speaker 7: It was tough sledding early on against this Rams defense,
[3:34] Speaker 7: especially a corner. But you're seeing Ceedee Lamb right there.
[3:37] Speaker 8: He was.
[3:37] Speaker 7: They were removing him all over the place pre snap
[3:40] Speaker 7: in the slot out wide. These are things that Dak
[3:43] Speaker 7: Prescott was countering or some things they had planned based
[3:46] Speaker 7: on the Rams defensive formations. Remember this is the first
[3:48] Speaker 7: time these guys have practiced against somebody other than themselves.
[3:52] Speaker 7: George Pickens, you saw the contested catches Patrick and as
[3:55] Speaker 7: the practice moved along again, Dallas's offense had some tough sledding.
[4:00] Speaker 7: You saw these guys do some work in the red zone.
[4:04] Speaker 7: The potential of this tandem is insane. Now let's move
[4:07] Speaker 7: it over to the Rams as Pooka, Nakula and DeVante Adams.
[4:11] Speaker 7: Nicoua actually left practice early with the trainer, but I
[4:15] Speaker 7: just received a text that said it is not serious.
[4:18] Speaker 7: If it was a precautionary measure and they would have
[4:21] Speaker 7: kept him on the field if this was a game.
[4:23] Speaker 7: That is good news because we did not get an
[4:25] Speaker 7: immediate update on what exactly happened, if there was an
[4:28] Speaker 7: injury or not.
[4:29] Speaker 2: But he did leave, but he did leave with the trainers.
[4:32] Speaker 7: But again, Nicoua was having a very good practice and
[4:34] Speaker 7: one thing we saw with the Rams again multiple tight
[4:37] Speaker 7: ends doing work across the middle of the field. The Rams, though,
[4:41] Speaker 7: did throw three interceptions to the same player, and that
[4:44] Speaker 7: was a middle linebacker, Justin Barron. He had himself a
[4:47] Speaker 7: day for the cob The Coboy has been looking for
[4:49] Speaker 7: helping middle linebacker for a few seasons now.
[4:52] Speaker 2: And you want to talk about defense, both of.
[4:54] Speaker 1: These teams adding especially on the defensive lot, especially the
[4:57] Speaker 1: team in Los Angeles which has had.
[4:58] Speaker 7: Some very notable Miles Garrett didn't practice today. They said
[5:02] Speaker 7: he had a little swelling on his knee. But again
[5:04] Speaker 7: some self preservation stuff going on with the Rams. But
[5:07] Speaker 7: let's not forget what they already have up front. They've
[5:10] Speaker 7: got Poona Ford, they've got Kobe Turner, they've got Braden Fisk,
[5:13] Speaker 7: they've got Byron Young and boy did they show up
[5:16] Speaker 7: early on in this practice today on the inside running
[5:19] Speaker 7: drills the Cowboys, it was tough sledding as those four
[5:22] Speaker 7: and some other players rotating in really stood firm, would
[5:25] Speaker 7: not a whole not allow themselves to get moved off
[5:28] Speaker 7: that ball. So Miles Garrett comes back, that's one thing.
[5:31] Speaker 7: And oh yeah, there's that Aaron Donald guy who still
[5:34] Speaker 7: could be coming back. Sean McVay, the head coach, said
[5:36] Speaker 7: nothing new on that front, but he would like to
[5:38] Speaker 7: hear something sooner rather than later. But it wasn't just
[5:41] Speaker 7: a Rams defront that looked good. Quintin Williams next to
[5:44] Speaker 7: Kenny Clark for those Dallas Cowboys. We know Quinn Williams
[5:48] Speaker 7: designed that three year, one hundred and five point nine
[5:50] Speaker 7: million dollar extension and he ain't rested on that money.
[5:53] Speaker 2: Patrick. He was out there doing work today. You could
[5:56] Speaker 2: see that defensive.
[5:57] Speaker 7: Front with Rashaan Gary and some players that the Cowboys
[5:59] Speaker 7: have added. That's how you protect the two smaller speedy linebackers,
[6:03] Speaker 7: the marvi and Overshowing and Dee Winters. Those guys are
[6:06] Speaker 7: making plays all over the field in the run game
[6:08] Speaker 7: because they've got some help up front. And again that's
[6:11] Speaker 7: the way you make counters from smaller linebackers by keeping people.
[6:14] Speaker 2: Off of them.
[6:15] Speaker 1: And that's the hypothetical path forward to a victory for
[6:18] Speaker 1: the Cowboys. Victories getting Christian Parker's defense just okay.
[6:24] Speaker 7: And rookie Caleb Downs too. I gotta says he's as
[6:27] Speaker 7: good as advertising. To hear a lot of good stuff
[6:29] Speaker 7: about him, also better than advertised. Steve Watch making the
[6:32] Speaker 7: trip from Woodland Hills to get back with us here.
[6:34] Speaker 2: Thank you Steve for that effort.
[6:36] Speaker 1: Again, not the only marquee joint practice of the day,
[6:40] Speaker 1: that one in the NFC. What about on the AFC side,
[6:42] Speaker 1: the Colts and the Patriots at work in Foxborough? Judy
[6:46] Speaker 1: Batista and Maurice Jones drew there to see it all.
[6:51] Speaker 2: MJD.
[6:52] Speaker 9: This was a pretty intense practice, the joint practice between
[6:55] Speaker 9: the Patriots and Colts, and the Patriots gave the.
[6:57] Speaker 2: Fans what they wanted right out of the gate.
[6:59] Speaker 9: In one on one Drake May to Aj Brown being
[7:03] Speaker 9: covered by Sauce Gardner completion, crowd went crazy and they
[7:06] Speaker 9: went from there.
[7:07] Speaker 5: A really good day I thought for the Patriots offense.
[7:09] Speaker 10: Oh no, awesome, no question. It was an action pack
[7:11] Speaker 10: day on Bose fields. I mean you were hearing the
[7:14] Speaker 10: Patriots fans cheer for the defense, cheer for the offense.
[7:16] Speaker 10: Drake May and the offense looked very efficient this early
[7:19] Speaker 10: in camp. I know they've only been in it for
[7:21] Speaker 10: a couple of weeks, but there didn't seem like it
[7:23] Speaker 10: as many kinks that he needed to be worked out.
[7:25] Speaker 10: On the other field, though, the cult were working through
[7:27] Speaker 10: some things. Offensively, Daniel Jones looked really good. There was
[7:31] Speaker 10: some times where he just couldn't get the ball out
[7:33] Speaker 10: because of the protection broke down. Jonathan Taylor ran very well,
[7:37] Speaker 10: had a big run in the red zone, ty Warn
[7:39] Speaker 10: Tyler Warner had a great catch, contested catch over the
[7:42] Speaker 10: middle of the field.
[7:43] Speaker 2: So there was a lot of energy going back and forth.
[7:45] Speaker 10: One little fist that cuss broke out, but they broke
[7:47] Speaker 10: that up very quickly, and that was a special teams deal.
[7:50] Speaker 10: Both teams got what they want out of After talking
[7:52] Speaker 10: to both coaches or coaches on both sides, this was
[7:54] Speaker 10: exactly what they wanted. A lot of really good reps.
[7:57] Speaker 10: They were going fast. Mike Rabel was on the offen
[8:00] Speaker 10: just like coaching up the offense. On the other field,
[8:03] Speaker 10: it was Shane Staking his guys. They were getting after,
[8:05] Speaker 10: they were getting some hurry up tempo in so a
[8:08] Speaker 10: lot of reps, a lot of skill on skill, and
[8:11] Speaker 10: I think both teams got a lot better day.
[8:13] Speaker 9: Mike Rabel said it before the practice started that Drake May,
[8:17] Speaker 9: for example, is not playing in the Thursday preseason game,
[8:20] Speaker 9: nor will Daniel Jones.
[8:21] Speaker 2: So this was really the chance for the ones to
[8:24] Speaker 2: go at it. Let's talk more about Daniel.
[8:25] Speaker 9: Jones, who I thought looked if you did not know
[8:28] Speaker 9: that he had had a major injury, you would not
[8:31] Speaker 9: know from how he looks. He's moving well, he was
[8:33] Speaker 9: throwing on the run, he was moving around the pocket
[8:36] Speaker 9: really well. I don't know if you would say he's
[8:38] Speaker 9: ahead of schedule, but he just looked on schedule.
[8:41] Speaker 11: He looked really good for the first week of the season.
[8:43] Speaker 2: Oh yeah.
[8:43] Speaker 10: A lot of people said, hey, he's a guy that
[8:45] Speaker 10: they're looking forward to. He he's working to get back
[8:47] Speaker 10: to one hundred percent, but he looks really good right now.
[8:50] Speaker 11: That's it here from Patriots.
[8:53] Speaker 1: Thanks to Judy and Maurice, The Buffalo Bills back at
[8:56] Speaker 1: work ahead of their preseason home opener on Saturday, a
[8:59] Speaker 1: first for new head coach Joe Brady at first for
[9:02] Speaker 1: new High Marks Stadium. Mike Gharrifolo and Kyle Brant looks
[9:05] Speaker 1: back on the day's work from Orchard Park.
[9:09] Speaker 2: What a day in Orchard Park, New York.
[9:10] Speaker 3: Got to see the new stadium, got to see the
[9:12] Speaker 3: new head coach, got to see the same quarterback.
[9:15] Speaker 12: He looks great. Though, he looks great. DJ Moore looks great,
[9:19] Speaker 12: And I think the headline is Joe Brady. Of all
[9:21] Speaker 12: the conversations we had today Mike about the new head coach,
[9:23] Speaker 12: we talked to one player who described him in a
[9:25] Speaker 12: very interesting way. He said, Joe Brady is a Florida guy,
[9:28] Speaker 12: and the Florida players show up differently, they have a
[9:31] Speaker 12: different way about them.
[9:33] Speaker 2: Joe Brady also coached at LSU.
[9:34] Speaker 12: They show up differently, So he shows up a little
[9:38] Speaker 12: bit like the players. Like, I'm from Florida. I went
[9:40] Speaker 12: to Everglades High School. That's as Florida as it comes.
[9:42] Speaker 12: I've coached at LSU and the SEC. I'm not just
[9:45] Speaker 12: your normal NFL widget coach. I have some presence to
[9:49] Speaker 12: him and you can feel that around the players.
[9:50] Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a different environment from John McDermott, who wanted
[9:54] Speaker 3: everything to be done in particular way, a little bit
[9:56] Speaker 3: of Tom Coughlin when I was here. In the way
[9:58] Speaker 3: that they were describing Sean McDermott, WI, I don't know
[10:00] Speaker 3: what we talked enough about.
[10:01] Speaker 2: During his tenures. Because it worked.
[10:03] Speaker 3: It did work, and there's a reason why he wants
[10:06] Speaker 3: these things done a certain way because he feels like
[10:08] Speaker 3: that that reflects itself itself in the play of the team.
[10:11] Speaker 3: So Joe Brady, the challenge is to loosen things up
[10:13] Speaker 3: a little bit. He told us he's encouraging the players
[10:15] Speaker 3: to celebrate during practice because he wants that to happen
[10:18] Speaker 3: on game day as well. Wants to make this a
[10:20] Speaker 3: little bit more fun. But you also have to have
[10:22] Speaker 3: the discipline. And it's not like he's ignoring those details.
[10:25] Speaker 3: He wants to make sure the finer details are being
[10:27] Speaker 3: worked on here in training camp. Whether it's how you're
[10:29] Speaker 3: carrying the ball, whether it's this decision you're making in
[10:31] Speaker 3: crunch time, all that kind of stuff. Now, the offensive
[10:33] Speaker 3: players already know him, it's about translating it to the
[10:36] Speaker 3: defensive side of the ball. Because he's worked with the
[10:38] Speaker 3: offense as the coordinator, so that's going to be a
[10:41] Speaker 3: little bit of a challenge for him. He's got Jim
[10:42] Speaker 3: Leonard is his defensive boarding. Hearing some early good returns there.
[10:45] Speaker 3: So overall, I mean, there's no reason why this team
[10:48] Speaker 3: shouldn't hit the ground running, right.
[10:49] Speaker 2: I think they will and they have. I mean, listen,
[10:51] Speaker 2: it's Camp seventeen.
[10:52] Speaker 12: Josh Allen's always going to be here, but there's newness
[10:54] Speaker 12: now that's exciting. We'll see him week one against a
[10:57] Speaker 12: very very good Texas team.
[11:00] Speaker 1: Mahomes and the Chiefs back at practice, but perhaps not
[11:03] Speaker 1: back onto the field in a game situation until the
[11:05] Speaker 1: season starts. Andy Reid saying he may sit out the
[11:08] Speaker 1: whole chief preseason, but the recovery continues to be ahead
[11:12] Speaker 1: of most schedules, and during a chat with Stacy DALs
[11:15] Speaker 1: and Brian Baldinger yesterday, Packers star edge defender Michael Parsons
[11:18] Speaker 1: said Week six the most optimistic return day for him
[11:21] Speaker 1: after his reconstructive knee surgery. The Packers fell from sixth
[11:25] Speaker 1: in scoring defense to twenty fifth in their time without Micah.
[11:29] Speaker 1: Parsons joined now by Jeff schadeah As, Jeff Mahomes and Parsons,
[11:34] Speaker 1: both former All pros, both candidates for Comeback Player of
[11:37] Speaker 1: the Year, where it could be a lot of guys
[11:40] Speaker 1: that fall into that category. So let's go through some
[11:42] Speaker 1: of your candidates for Comeback Player of the Year.
[11:44] Speaker 13: Well, you got to start with Patrick Mahomes here. Patrick,
[11:47] Speaker 13: just because of the narrative around him, this was one
[11:49] Speaker 13: of the biggest injuries that the league has seen. Everybody's
[11:52] Speaker 13: watching what he's doing throughout the preseason, and be honest
[11:55] Speaker 13: with you, I'll talk about is he declining? Is this
[11:58] Speaker 13: team declining? So I think the motivation for Patrick Mahomes
[12:01] Speaker 13: is there, and he talked about some good signs here.
[12:03] Speaker 13: He's forgetting that the knee has been repaired. When he's
[12:06] Speaker 13: running around in practice, he's seeing a lot of positive
[12:09] Speaker 13: footwork improvement there and so he's feeling pretty good about
[12:14] Speaker 13: where he's at. So that gives me a lot of
[12:15] Speaker 13: confidence of what he's doing. For number two here, I'll
[12:18] Speaker 13: stick with the quarterbacks and I'll go to Jay and
[12:20] Speaker 13: Daniels in Washington because you look about it, you look
[12:22] Speaker 13: at a new offensive coordinator coming in here with David Blau,
[12:26] Speaker 13: a new system fro him to work in blow is
[12:27] Speaker 13: very excited by what he's seen as far as accuracy
[12:31] Speaker 13: and the comfort level in this office, and Stefan Digg's
[12:33] Speaker 13: coming in there. The recent free agent signing is big
[12:36] Speaker 13: for third downs. I expect Jane Dams to get back
[12:38] Speaker 13: to what he looked like a couple of years ago.
[12:40] Speaker 13: And then finally, I'll go off script here with the
[12:42] Speaker 13: guy who's not signed yet, Aaron Donald, because there's too
[12:45] Speaker 13: much smoke here Patrick for what's happening. He's been working out. Yes,
[12:49] Speaker 13: Sean McVay says, there's a process here he wants to
[12:51] Speaker 13: go through to see what's going to happen. But he
[12:53] Speaker 13: can't be on this field doing this stuff and seeing
[12:55] Speaker 13: guys like Miles Garrett in the locker room and Kobe
[12:57] Speaker 13: Turner and Byron Young and I'm thinking about coming back.
[13:00] Speaker 13: This guy's got three Defensive Player of the Year honors
[13:03] Speaker 13: being gone for two years.
[13:04] Speaker 2: He comes back, there's no way he's not winning this award.
[13:07] Speaker 1: It's funny to think of both Aaron Donald and Patrick
[13:10] Speaker 1: Mahomes as candidates for Comeback Player of the Year. Just
[13:13] Speaker 1: a hull home another award for all of these guys
[13:15] Speaker 1: looking forward to it. Thank you to Jeff deda checking
[13:18] Speaker 1: out this comeback Player of the Year race. When we
[13:21] Speaker 1: come back, joint practices pro bought an opportunity to see
[13:24] Speaker 1: how your team can match up with another, maybe a
[13:26] Speaker 1: chance to take a few swings as somebody who isn't
[13:28] Speaker 1: a teammate. We got updates from joint practices all around
[13:32] Speaker 1: the league.
[13:32] Speaker 2: Coming up on the inside.
[13:43] Speaker 1: We are back on the inside or free season football
[13:45] Speaker 1: available to you this week on NFL Network. The Packers
[13:48] Speaker 1: Steelers Thursday at seven pm, The Cardinals Raiders after that
[13:53] Speaker 1: Thursday at eight Buccaneers and Jets Friday at seven o'clock.
[13:57] Speaker 1: That game available to you on NFL Network. We get
[13:59] Speaker 1: to see the card and the Raiders on ESPN on Thursday.
[14:02] Speaker 1: Let's look to where they were working today, ja Cobed
[14:05] Speaker 1: Brissett and the Arizona Cardinals in action. They had some
[14:08] Speaker 1: solid debut for their rookie quarterback Carson Beck the Hall
[14:11] Speaker 1: of Fame game last week. They got a trip to
[14:12] Speaker 1: Las Vegas coming up on that Thursday for more all
[14:15] Speaker 1: in the Cardinals. Let's get to our Hall of Fame
[14:17] Speaker 1: quarterback Kurt Warner and Ian Rappaport in Glendale.
[14:21] Speaker 4: Here after Cardinals practice here with Kurt Warner, and I
[14:24] Speaker 4: think the whole country saw the kind of performance that
[14:27] Speaker 4: Carson Beck put on the field during the Hall of
[14:29] Speaker 4: Fame game. It was pretty electric considering the stage it was.
[14:33] Speaker 4: There was a lot to like from the rookie. But
[14:35] Speaker 4: one thing is clear from talking to people here in Arizona,
[14:38] Speaker 4: it's not a quarterback competition.
[14:39] Speaker 5: It is Jacobe Brissette's job.
[14:41] Speaker 4: Just don't want to throw Carson Beck in earlier though
[14:43] Speaker 4: that he is a prospect. They really like that said
[14:46] Speaker 4: for Micheleflor's team, there's some positive signs from what we saw.
[14:51] Speaker 2: I think a lot of positive signs.
[14:52] Speaker 14: You know, when we got a chance to talk to
[14:53] Speaker 14: him today, he was talking about the operation. I wanted
[14:56] Speaker 14: to see my guys operate in the offense the way
[14:59] Speaker 14: that it is.
[14:59] Speaker 2: Supper to be operated and that's what he took from
[15:02] Speaker 2: the game.
[15:02] Speaker 14: He wasn't too high, you know, he wasn't blowing he
[15:05] Speaker 14: smoke about anybody in particular. He just said, this is
[15:08] Speaker 14: part of our process, is we want to operate the offense,
[15:11] Speaker 14: new offense for all these guys. But you're right, everybody
[15:14] Speaker 14: watching that game was like, oh, do they have their
[15:17] Speaker 14: quarterback of the future, and you know the future is win.
[15:20] Speaker 14: I think that's the real question is how good can
[15:22] Speaker 14: this team be. We're great last year, expectations aren't necessarily high,
[15:27] Speaker 14: but that to me is when Carson Beck's plays is
[15:30] Speaker 14: going to be determined by where this football team is.
[15:33] Speaker 14: Yacobe Present is shown he can be a starter, but
[15:35] Speaker 14: the team has got to come along with him. It's
[15:37] Speaker 14: going to be a fun journey to watch how this
[15:39] Speaker 14: plays out. But they are definitely excited about their young quarterback.
[15:43] Speaker 14: And there are plenty of name brand talents on this team.
[15:46] Speaker 4: You know, talk about the Marvin Harrison's and Mike Wilson,
[15:50] Speaker 4: and then you know on defense, you got got plenty
[15:52] Speaker 4: of studs in there, and plenty.
[15:54] Speaker 5: Of guys we've heard of, the Buddha Bakers of the world.
[15:57] Speaker 4: How good this team is is going to be determined
[15:59] Speaker 4: by the players who have very quietly under the Raidar
[16:02] Speaker 4: just continue to develop and continue to advance, and how
[16:05] Speaker 4: well those guys playing we will see.
[16:07] Speaker 5: Time will tell if they're able to go from a.
[16:09] Speaker 4: Pretty talented team to one that can really win some
[16:12] Speaker 4: games on the field. I will tell you this, Scurrigee,
[16:15] Speaker 4: get ready to send it back to you Patrick. Inside
[16:18] Speaker 4: this building, they believe this team is much better than
[16:21] Speaker 4: the outside world thinks.
[16:23] Speaker 5: We will see if on the field. That's how it
[16:25] Speaker 5: plays out.
[16:26] Speaker 1: Pretty well in their debut. Thank you to Kurt and Ian.
[16:29] Speaker 1: Here's a look at the joint practice schedule that we had.
[16:32] Speaker 1: This started today all around the league in LA. We
[16:35] Speaker 1: talked about the Cowboys and the Rams, the Titans of
[16:37] Speaker 1: the forty nine ers, but also the Buccaneers and the
[16:40] Speaker 1: Jets at work today in Florham Park and to see
[16:44] Speaker 1: both of their quarterbacks Gino Smith Baker Mayfield having their
[16:48] Speaker 1: discussion before the work got going. Here's the head coaches,
[16:52] Speaker 1: Todd Bowles and Aaron Glynn after their joint practice.
[16:56] Speaker 2: We've got some real good work.
[16:57] Speaker 8: I thought it started out real well. Minor dust ups
[17:01] Speaker 8: and fractions, but nobody really did anything when we got
[17:04] Speaker 8: those infractions. We came up here to play football against
[17:06] Speaker 8: the work and they did too. I thought we got
[17:08] Speaker 8: some good work done. We got to see what the
[17:10] Speaker 8: mistakes are on tape and kind of.
[17:11] Speaker 6: Move forward from there.
[17:12] Speaker 15: Good hard practice, which I knew would be against a
[17:15] Speaker 15: team that's been to the playoffs a number of years,
[17:17] Speaker 15: against the team that has a scheme from a defensive standpoint,
[17:20] Speaker 15: has a scheme that's difficult to deal with, and those
[17:23] Speaker 15: guys been that scheme for a long time with Todd Offensively,
[17:26] Speaker 15: Obviously they have a new new scheme there. I thought
[17:29] Speaker 15: that guys did a really good job there. But there's
[17:31] Speaker 15: more work to do and listen, I like everything about
[17:34] Speaker 15: how practice was today. Obviously they're gonna be some dust
[17:36] Speaker 15: stuffs that happens in every joint practice, but I thought
[17:39] Speaker 15: the guys did a really good job of man forget
[17:41] Speaker 15: anybody going to the next play and continue practically.
[17:43] Speaker 2: That's the one thing we're trying.
[17:44] Speaker 15: To do is good to two days of good work
[17:46] Speaker 15: with these guys.
[17:48] Speaker 1: Most well, dust ups, as the coaches said, they're in
[17:50] Speaker 1: Floring Park at the joint practice with the most reported
[17:52] Speaker 1: fights today the one in Santa Clair as tempers flair
[17:56] Speaker 1: early on, But there was a lot of cohesion. There's
[17:58] Speaker 1: we see Carnell t Deebo, Samuel working together, and things
[18:01] Speaker 1: a bit better between former co workers Kyle Shanahan and
[18:03] Speaker 1: Robert Sala.
[18:05] Speaker 2: Overall, just we're all feeling it.
[18:07] Speaker 16: You know that this offense we went against today is
[18:09] Speaker 16: one of the top five offenses in football. So there's
[18:11] Speaker 16: a lot of back and forth in which was encouraging.
[18:14] Speaker 2: You're not gonna win every one on one.
[18:16] Speaker 16: But at the same time, there's there's definitely things that
[18:19] Speaker 16: we can learn.
[18:19] Speaker 17: From now, as you guys know, coach of respect a ton.
[18:24] Speaker 17: I mean when it starts with his defense, you know
[18:25] Speaker 17: how sound it's going to be. And Saul is not
[18:27] Speaker 17: going to put something in that he doesn't believe is
[18:29] Speaker 17: sound versus everything, So it's going to be very disciplined.
[18:32] Speaker 17: It takes a little bit of time to get the
[18:33] Speaker 17: guys out of lead at it, so he's going to
[18:35] Speaker 17: do it over and over again. And I can see
[18:37] Speaker 17: they're already way ahead of schedule. They really competed today
[18:41] Speaker 17: and they'll definitely have a.
[18:42] Speaker 2: Really good coach.
[18:43] Speaker 17: Brock's a really good player, so I expect him to
[18:46] Speaker 17: have good plays. So I notice all the bad plays,
[18:48] Speaker 17: and I didn't know as many bad plays today, So
[18:50] Speaker 17: I think that hell of the day.
[18:52] Speaker 1: Just what's new today coming into the NFL LA news.
[18:54] Speaker 1: When we heard earlier today from Steve Watch that a
[18:57] Speaker 1: left practice, NFL networkingsider Ian Rappaport.
[18:59] Speaker 2: Said that was minors soreness and is growing.
[19:02] Speaker 1: The team was just being cautious and that's why Poukunakua
[19:05] Speaker 1: did not return to that joint practice.
[19:06] Speaker 2: Against the Dallas Cowboys.
[19:08] Speaker 1: Kevin O'Connell naming their starting quarterback for Week one against
[19:10] Speaker 1: the Packers.
[19:11] Speaker 2: That will be Kyler Murray.
[19:14] Speaker 1: He says that the step was to get things done
[19:17] Speaker 1: and move on and be prepared. Step one from Kevin
[19:20] Speaker 1: O'Connell now complete.
[19:23] Speaker 18: In my opinion, he's got the skill set and the abilities,
[19:27] Speaker 18: you know, not only just from a standpoint of accuracy,
[19:29] Speaker 18: but his ability to affect the game with his athleticism.
[19:33] Speaker 18: But he's also proven to be smart, you know, very
[19:36] Speaker 18: hard working and able to take in a lot of
[19:38] Speaker 18: information and churn that out. Now, we really want to
[19:40] Speaker 18: give him the opportunity to really start building a comfort
[19:43] Speaker 18: level not only with the system but with the guys.
[19:47] Speaker 18: In no way does this diminish anything that JJ's demonstrated.
[19:52] Speaker 18: There's been real, strong, solid evidence of growth. Nothing changes
[19:57] Speaker 18: as far as JJ being incredibly important member of our
[20:01] Speaker 18: quarterback room and our team.
[20:04] Speaker 1: Back at Wark, the Buffalo Bills ahead of their preseason
[20:08] Speaker 1: matchup to open up their brand new stadium to the preseason,
[20:12] Speaker 1: joining ITC and Kyle Brent earlier today, they're now ninth year.
[20:16] Speaker 2: Quarterback Josh Allen.
[20:19] Speaker 12: Here he is your favorite fireball Eagle number seventeen, Josh Allen, Hello, go.
[20:24] Speaker 2: Eagles, Eagles, Bills. How's life? What's up? Dude? Life's Great's
[20:28] Speaker 2: see it. Have our conversations, bag.
[20:30] Speaker 12: It's been one really good and our conversations usually start
[20:33] Speaker 12: and end with our movies.
[20:34] Speaker 2: Let's get caught up. Have you seen The Odyssey? I
[20:38] Speaker 2: have not seen it. You haven't seen it, haven't I'm
[20:40] Speaker 2: waiting for my wife.
[20:41] Speaker 19: Oh, apparently you got to watch it in imax seventy
[20:43] Speaker 19: mil right. Yes, I don't know we're gonna be able
[20:46] Speaker 19: to do that here in Buffalo, but.
[20:47] Speaker 2: We'll figure out a ton of IMAX in Western New York.
[20:50] Speaker 2: I don't know, but we'll figure it out. Have you
[20:52] Speaker 2: seen Obsession? Now, I've been in camp. I've been in
[20:56] Speaker 2: camp for a while.
[20:57] Speaker 12: You got to see it though, the young people, he's
[20:59] Speaker 12: the Obsession and like the film bros.
[21:00] Speaker 2: You got to see Honesty like you love both of them.
[21:03] Speaker 12: And I'd be fascinated on Haley's opinion about Obsession because
[21:06] Speaker 12: the young female lead is like unbelievable. So you got
[21:08] Speaker 12: to catch up though, at some point by week that
[21:10] Speaker 12: type of thing done.
[21:11] Speaker 2: Football wise, you still play professional football. I've seen you
[21:14] Speaker 2: practice a lot over the years. I don't think I've
[21:16] Speaker 2: ever seen you have more fun. Why.
[21:19] Speaker 19: I think this group that we have it's it's freaking awesome.
[21:21] Speaker 19: I mean everyone's melon or meshing and jelling together. A
[21:26] Speaker 19: couple additions that we got obviously Dj Moore, He's been
[21:29] Speaker 19: awesome to throw to. You know, the conversations I've been
[21:33] Speaker 19: able to have with our head coach, and feeling really
[21:35] Speaker 19: comfortable in the offensive system of what's going in right now.
[21:38] Speaker 19: So I'm just very confident in what we're doing right
[21:41] Speaker 19: now and just going out there and having as much
[21:42] Speaker 19: fun as possible.
[21:43] Speaker 2: It shows what do you think you're so great at?
[21:45] Speaker 2: Recall throughout your career.
[21:47] Speaker 12: What do you think is the most fun moment you
[21:50] Speaker 12: have ever had in a Bill's uniform? Take your time
[21:53] Speaker 12: on moment, like, what's the one last year we did
[21:55] Speaker 12: your favorite highlight?
[21:57] Speaker 2: What do you think is your most fun moment?
[22:01] Speaker 19: I think it was my second year we clinched the
[22:03] Speaker 19: playoffs in Pittsburgh. We got home and just the ride
[22:08] Speaker 19: out from the airport with thousands of fans at two
[22:11] Speaker 19: or three in the morning it's freezing outside. That moment
[22:14] Speaker 19: was pretty special. That was like the oh this town
[22:17] Speaker 19: cares moment, you know that was That was a special moment.
[22:20] Speaker 19: I'll never forget it. I got video saved on my
[22:22] Speaker 19: phone still, So that was a good one.
[22:24] Speaker 12: Was that one of those where we get back and
[22:25] Speaker 12: there's like thirty feet of snow in your car? Because
[22:27] Speaker 12: I think've had those.
[22:28] Speaker 2: Those are the not so fun moments.
[22:31] Speaker 19: But honestly, whether there was snow, sleet, rain, sunshine, whatever,
[22:35] Speaker 19: the fans are going to be there and awesome. We've
[22:37] Speaker 19: got the best best fans over here in Western New York.
[22:40] Speaker 2: You really do. I love them in my own way.
[22:43] Speaker 12: Least fun moments, You've always been great at facing the music,
[22:46] Speaker 12: whatever happens, whatever happens in a loss or a playoff loss.
[22:49] Speaker 12: We've seen you do it really really well. You're good
[22:51] Speaker 12: at it. It's tough. Last year seemed different after the
[22:55] Speaker 12: loss of Denver. We've seen you after some tough losses.
[22:58] Speaker 12: We've never really seen you like that that emotional his
[23:01] Speaker 12: full tears was really really strong reaction.
[23:03] Speaker 2: Why was that one different? Again?
[23:07] Speaker 19: Throughout life, you kind of have these moments and I
[23:11] Speaker 19: walked up there and was expressing how I felt. I
[23:14] Speaker 19: feel like I wear my heart on my sleeve, especially
[23:16] Speaker 19: when I'm out on the football field, and that was
[23:18] Speaker 19: just one of those moments where I'm not going to
[23:20] Speaker 19: hide it like I'm hurt, I'm upset. I knew that
[23:23] Speaker 19: I didn't play very very well and to my potential.
[23:27] Speaker 19: And when you're sitting there and you're going over plays
[23:30] Speaker 19: things that you wish you could have done differently, like,
[23:33] Speaker 19: it just kind of weighs on you, and that one
[23:34] Speaker 19: weighed on me. And that's still a feeling. It's kind
[23:36] Speaker 19: of stuck in that pit of my stomach right now.
[23:40] Speaker 19: But the great thing about this game we get to
[23:41] Speaker 19: suit it up and do it again.
[23:43] Speaker 12: And now you do it with a new head coach.
[23:45] Speaker 12: So there's been a lot talked about your relationship. You
[23:47] Speaker 12: guys are really tight. You've been through lots together. You
[23:49] Speaker 12: and Joe Brady. I talked to him earlier the day
[23:51] Speaker 12: and I was like, so, let me go the other way.
[23:53] Speaker 12: Do you and Josh argue? And he was like, yeah,
[23:56] Speaker 12: all the time. Do you have the same reaction and
[23:59] Speaker 12: how does that go? Yeah, I mean argue is a
[24:03] Speaker 12: loose term. We definitely have our disagreements. You know, I
[24:09] Speaker 12: had to play in practice today, is like.
[24:11] Speaker 2: I don't know about that.
[24:11] Speaker 19: He's like, dude, you missed the missed inside. It's like,
[24:13] Speaker 19: you're right, I did miss inside.
[24:15] Speaker 10: You know.
[24:15] Speaker 2: It's like he hold him accountable. I hold him accountable.
[24:18] Speaker 19: But at the end of the day, he's he's our
[24:19] Speaker 19: head coach, you know, and as players, we we have
[24:23] Speaker 19: to do what the head coach wants. This is his team,
[24:24] Speaker 19: this is his uh identity, and this is his trajectory
[24:28] Speaker 19: of what he wants this team to be. And it's
[24:30] Speaker 19: my job to be an extension of him as well as,
[24:33] Speaker 19: you know, the leader of this team, as as well
[24:36] Speaker 19: as the offensive play caller. And when I'm out on
[24:38] Speaker 19: the field, I have to understand why he's calling certain things,
[24:40] Speaker 19: what what what to do, what not to do, but
[24:45] Speaker 19: ultimately be an extension of him.
[24:46] Speaker 12: You know, there's I think there's this mistruth about him
[24:49] Speaker 12: that he's he's happy, go lucky, fun, He's like he's
[24:51] Speaker 12: a bro.
[24:52] Speaker 2: I'm like, hold on a second.
[24:53] Speaker 12: From a fan perspective, he came up under Sean Payton,
[24:55] Speaker 12: who came up under Bill Parcells. Like that is accountability
[24:58] Speaker 12: and that is like cracking skulls when you need.
[24:59] Speaker 2: To, right. Yeah, and he is an absolute workhorse.
[25:02] Speaker 19: I mean, he spends so much time in the building,
[25:06] Speaker 19: you know, watching film, finding new plays, finding new concepts
[25:09] Speaker 19: like it.
[25:10] Speaker 2: He doesn't sleep all that much. He's laid off the caffeine.
[25:14] Speaker 19: A little bit this year, but I'm assuming once we
[25:17] Speaker 19: get into the full swing in the season and he'll
[25:19] Speaker 19: start getting those fast switches down and start talking really fast.
[25:22] Speaker 19: But yeah, he's he's been awesome so far in camp,
[25:25] Speaker 19: and you know, the guys are really buying into what
[25:27] Speaker 19: he's saying, and it's been great to see.
[25:30] Speaker 12: He's got an awesome vibe to talk to. It's just
[25:32] Speaker 12: from my perspective, sharp left turn. Where do you keep
[25:36] Speaker 12: the MVP trophy?
[25:37] Speaker 2: Where is that?
[25:39] Speaker 13: In?
[25:39] Speaker 19: Honestly, we did a little bit of renovation right now, Well,
[25:41] Speaker 19: let's go. It's it's in a box in the basement.
[25:44] Speaker 19: That's hand hand to god.
[25:45] Speaker 2: Truth. Is that going to come out of the boxer
[25:46] Speaker 2: it stays there? I don't know, We'll see. Okay, Well,
[25:49] Speaker 2: I have a question by another item.
[25:50] Speaker 12: You've told me before that you have a special bottle
[25:54] Speaker 12: of bourbon saved to drink after winning the Super Bowl?
[26:00] Speaker 12: Is the bourbon bottle still out?
[26:01] Speaker 17: No?
[26:02] Speaker 2: Yeah, of course, yes, yeah, the bourbon, the bourbon still out.
[26:04] Speaker 2: Not in a box? No, not in a box? All right,
[26:06] Speaker 2: So you're a producer.
[26:07] Speaker 12: Now produce me it, produce me an image of this
[26:10] Speaker 12: when you're having that bourbon when that day comes, where
[26:13] Speaker 12: are you?
[26:14] Speaker 2: Who are you with? Is it with teammates? Was it family?
[26:17] Speaker 2: Is it by yourself?
[26:17] Speaker 11: Like?
[26:18] Speaker 2: How is that bourbon, the most important bourbon drink of
[26:20] Speaker 2: your life going to go?
[26:21] Speaker 11: Well?
[26:21] Speaker 19: I hope that whole bottle is gone with how many
[26:24] Speaker 19: people I'm sharing it with? I hope everyone gets a
[26:27] Speaker 19: nice little taster and there's quite a few people down
[26:30] Speaker 19: in the basement. But yeah, I mean, I hopefully I'm
[26:33] Speaker 19: not drinking a lot of it by myself.
[26:35] Speaker 2: Right, everybody over Exactly?
[26:37] Speaker 12: This is this is this part of the interview, and
[26:39] Speaker 12: you know you're so good at this, but every interview
[26:41] Speaker 12: with you inevitably leads to is this gonna be the year?
[26:45] Speaker 12: And it's challenging just to come up to new ways
[26:48] Speaker 12: to ask about it respectfully?
[26:50] Speaker 2: What is that like?
[26:51] Speaker 12: For you to have to always answer that and to
[26:53] Speaker 12: always know that it's coming.
[26:54] Speaker 2: I know you see it coming.
[26:56] Speaker 19: Listen, Like I'm we're doing everything we can here in
[26:59] Speaker 19: uh in Buffalo.
[27:01] Speaker 2: We're working really hard right now.
[27:03] Speaker 19: Those questions, I understand that they're being being asked, and
[27:06] Speaker 19: the only thing I can say is, you know, we'll
[27:07] Speaker 19: find out. You know, this is this is the great
[27:09] Speaker 19: part of the game. We're gonna put our pads on.
[27:12] Speaker 19: We're going to go play on that field that we've
[27:14] Speaker 19: been playing since we were little kids. And at the
[27:18] Speaker 19: end of the day, like I've I kind of switched
[27:20] Speaker 19: last year or two years ago, like I'm not focusing
[27:22] Speaker 19: so much on the result as far as the process
[27:24] Speaker 19: and just enjoying what I'm doing and loving the game
[27:28] Speaker 19: and playing it for the right reasons. And you know,
[27:31] Speaker 19: if I do my job to the best of my
[27:33] Speaker 19: abilities and get the surrounding team around me, they've they
[27:39] Speaker 19: feel like they're playing the same way. And we accomplished
[27:41] Speaker 19: that goal. It's going to feel fantastic, but it's going
[27:43] Speaker 19: to take everybody to do it. And I'm just I'm
[27:46] Speaker 19: looking forward to the season.
[27:48] Speaker 2: It's a huge shift.
[27:49] Speaker 12: You said a couple of years ago, you kind of
[27:51] Speaker 12: altered the way you're thinking, and I think it's really
[27:52] Speaker 12: healthy and constructive Where did that come from?
[27:55] Speaker 2: Was that was that Hayley or was that just internally?
[27:57] Speaker 2: How did you shift gears like that?
[27:59] Speaker 18: Yeah?
[27:59] Speaker 19: I think a big part of it was my wife
[28:00] Speaker 19: and just understanding, like listen, like there's gonna be ups
[28:04] Speaker 19: and downs in life, and I'm a big proponent on
[28:07] Speaker 19: it'll happen when it happens, and I'm gonna trust God's
[28:10] Speaker 19: timing when it does. So she's going to keep having
[28:14] Speaker 19: fun and playing the game the way that I know
[28:16] Speaker 19: how to play it. Obviously, I want to go out
[28:18] Speaker 19: there and play my best and every time I step
[28:20] Speaker 19: foot on the field, but when we get it done,
[28:23] Speaker 19: it'll feel pretty dang good.
[28:25] Speaker 2: Another vision, you're an exec producer.
[28:27] Speaker 12: If you don't know, Josh is going to do big
[28:29] Speaker 12: things in media, some things that are out there, some
[28:31] Speaker 12: things that are not out there. Your daughter, God bless her.
[28:35] Speaker 12: I want you to move forward to the year twenty
[28:38] Speaker 12: forty four. Okay, okay, So young Harper is eighteen years old.
[28:44] Speaker 12: She comes to you and she's looking over your career
[28:46] Speaker 12: and she's online and she's reading about some stuff that
[28:48] Speaker 12: she might have missed when she was younger. And she says, Dad,
[28:51] Speaker 12: tell me about the twenty twenty sixth team.
[28:53] Speaker 2: What was that team about?
[28:54] Speaker 19: Well, hopefully she's sitting there saying this picture of you
[28:57] Speaker 19: holding me on the field under the confetti's pretty cool.
[29:00] Speaker 19: So that's that's the vision that I have, you know,
[29:04] Speaker 19: and what I'll tell hers, we worked really hard and
[29:07] Speaker 19: this is a team that love loved each other and
[29:10] Speaker 19: accomplished something so great. And that's that's sometimes what it takes.
[29:14] Speaker 19: It takes a lot of sacrifice from those around you,
[29:16] Speaker 19: everybody in the building here outside, all of our wives
[29:18] Speaker 19: and girlfriends making sacrifices for us to come out here
[29:21] Speaker 19: and do what we do. But hopefully that she can
[29:25] Speaker 19: see that there was a lot of love on the
[29:26] Speaker 19: team and hopefully we can set what we accomplish.
[29:30] Speaker 12: That's a beautiful, beautiful answer. I would like a picture
[29:33] Speaker 12: of her on the float too. On the I mean
[29:35] Speaker 12: I imagine that just side to side. This is josh All.
[29:38] Speaker 12: He's not seen the Odyssey. He's not seen obsession. I
[29:41] Speaker 12: was shocked.
[29:42] Speaker 2: But you've got big things going on in life right now.
[29:43] Speaker 2: You can't be running off.
[29:44] Speaker 19: Yeah, the TV shows and movies have slowed down just
[29:47] Speaker 19: a bit. Fun I am on the third season of
[29:52] Speaker 19: House of the Dragon. Did you get to the finale?
[29:55] Speaker 19: I have not gotten to the finale yet. I'm not
[29:57] Speaker 19: waiting for you. Episode five, right, So I got a
[29:59] Speaker 19: couple more. I watched The Hawk with Will Ferrell and
[30:04] Speaker 19: which I thought it was great. Okay, good that it
[30:06] Speaker 19: was great.
[30:06] Speaker 2: I think that it was.
[30:09] Speaker 19: I thought, Jimmy Tatro play's a fantast I've heard of this.
[30:12] Speaker 19: I've seen that it's it's really good. It's well, it's
[30:14] Speaker 19: it's funny, it's great.
[30:15] Speaker 12: There's sometimes things out there that, oh, allegedly a lot
[30:18] Speaker 12: of people don't like, but are actually really great, you
[30:20] Speaker 12: know what I mean.
[30:22] Speaker 19: Hey, sometimes it just takes one right, it takes the
[30:24] Speaker 19: right audience. But yeah, I appreciate you.
[30:27] Speaker 2: You're the man.
[30:28] Speaker 12: That's Josh Allen. He is a Fireball Eagle, and he's
[30:30] Speaker 12: a Buffalo bill a number seventeen.
[30:33] Speaker 2: Thanks Sue Kyle and Josh. Hey, folks.
[30:35] Speaker 1: ESPN Fantasy now the official fantasy game of the NFL
[30:38] Speaker 1: knew this season.
[30:39] Speaker 2: Knockout leagues were.
[30:40] Speaker 1: Each week, the lowest scoring team eliminated until only one
[30:43] Speaker 1: is left standing. Down with the ESPN Fantasy yep for
[30:45] Speaker 1: free today, sign up to play the number one fantasy game.
[30:50] Speaker 2: Now time for rank you very much joining us now
[30:52] Speaker 2: in the newsroom. It's out of run.
[30:55] Speaker 11: Come man, Oh my gosh, so good to be here.
[30:57] Speaker 11: Glad I could be here with you. Yes, we still listen.
[31:00] Speaker 11: There's been a lot of things going on. We had
[31:02] Speaker 11: a game in the books Patrick and oh what a
[31:04] Speaker 11: game it was, And already people are overreacting to some performances.
[31:08] Speaker 11: There's been some injuries that have us worried. But we
[31:11] Speaker 11: start in Minnesota where the Vikings have named Kyler Murray
[31:14] Speaker 11: as their starting quarterback, a move that has a lot
[31:17] Speaker 11: of people reacting like this andious we needed a.
[31:26] Speaker 2: National moment.
[31:27] Speaker 11: Hold, hold and listen. I applaud this move. Look, we
[31:30] Speaker 11: have no shortage. We have many jokes that can be made,
[31:36] Speaker 11: but we can't overlook the work that Kevin O'Connell has
[31:39] Speaker 11: done with quarterbacks around the league, with Sam Darnold, Daniel
[31:43] Speaker 11: Jones and JJ mccaughy. Maybe not, don't don't hold JJ
[31:46] Speaker 11: McCarthy against him. Even Christopher Nolan made tenants and not
[31:49] Speaker 11: everything is gonna be what.
[31:51] Speaker 2: We can't talk movies. We're not allowed to listen.
[31:55] Speaker 11: We're not I guess not everybody can talk movies again,
[31:58] Speaker 11: Kyler the rest of the Priests season to work as
[32:01] Speaker 11: the starter, and we might have a guy who leads
[32:03] Speaker 11: you to a fantasy football championship this year, or else
[32:07] Speaker 11: he joins the Savannah Bandanas, And I'm fine with either
[32:09] Speaker 11: one of those outcomes. Staying in the NFC North. We
[32:13] Speaker 11: got some bad news this week when Luther burd And
[32:14] Speaker 11: the third suffered a groin injury, an injury that not
[32:17] Speaker 11: only caused panic with the Bears fans, but fantasy enthusiasts
[32:21] Speaker 11: in general. And it's weird, almost off putting to see
[32:24] Speaker 11: so many non Bears fans have an opinion on this.
[32:28] Speaker 11: This many people haven't weighed on Chicago business. This is crazy.
[32:32] Speaker 11: Since all of you wanted to be involved in the
[32:34] Speaker 11: catch up on a hot dog, to be all right,
[32:35] Speaker 11: hit me with it.
[32:36] Speaker 2: Let us catch him on a hot dog. If it's
[32:38] Speaker 2: your hot dog, do what you want to do. I'm
[32:40] Speaker 2: not putting it online.
[32:40] Speaker 1: But food is about freedom, So have a hot dog,
[32:44] Speaker 1: all right. I can't load other people's food. That's weird,
[32:47] Speaker 1: not right, You're right, all right, but we get it.
[32:49] Speaker 1: Many of you are expecting Luther Burdon the third to
[32:51] Speaker 1: take over for DJ Moore. This season, And if I
[32:55] Speaker 1: could aggress for a minute, I.
[32:56] Speaker 2: Love DJ Moore in Buffalo.
[32:58] Speaker 11: He is going to be the best receiver Josh Allen
[33:01] Speaker 11: has ever had.
[33:01] Speaker 20: There.
[33:01] Speaker 11: I said what I said, and he's way too low
[33:04] Speaker 11: in your fantasy rankings. But Buffalo, it's not too late
[33:08] Speaker 11: to change those jerseys. I'm going to tell you the
[33:11] Speaker 11: same thing I would have told Steve Harwell in nineteen
[33:14] Speaker 11: ninety four. It's not too late to stop this. Yes,
[33:17] Speaker 11: Shrek wouldn't have been the same, but still, this uniform
[33:20] Speaker 11: looks like if diet Pepsi replaced doctor Pepper is the
[33:23] Speaker 11: title sponsor in that football throwing contest during college championship games?
[33:27] Speaker 11: Like what is that football Ville with Brian Bosworth. That's
[33:30] Speaker 11: exactly what the jersey looks like.
[33:32] Speaker 2: Don't do this.
[33:33] Speaker 11: We're gonna have the Broncos and Seahawks. Don't sully it
[33:37] Speaker 11: with this note, please know. And then I finished though
[33:40] Speaker 11: with a quick word on our friend Carson Beck, who
[33:43] Speaker 11: looked great the other night, and I saw an alert
[33:46] Speaker 11: on our ESPN app that said he should be on
[33:48] Speaker 11: your fantasy radar.
[33:49] Speaker 2: He shouldn't.
[33:50] Speaker 11: Now you know why because home leagues play with one
[33:53] Speaker 11: quarterback and we said last week, this quarterback pool is
[33:56] Speaker 11: pretty deep.
[33:57] Speaker 2: So here's what I'm saying.
[33:58] Speaker 11: Those articles are about dynasty superflex leagues, and the rules
[34:02] Speaker 11: in those leagues impact just a small group of people.
[34:05] Speaker 2: Dare I say one percent?
[34:07] Speaker 11: There is no reason for the average fantasy player to
[34:10] Speaker 11: be worried about that league at all.
[34:12] Speaker 2: It doesn't concern you.
[34:13] Speaker 11: To simplify this further, if there is a league that
[34:17] Speaker 11: you never had intention of joining, you don't need to
[34:19] Speaker 11: be concerned about the rules in that league. This is
[34:22] Speaker 11: especially true for people who are horrible in their own
[34:25] Speaker 11: leagues and are just otherwise an afterthought. You don't need
[34:29] Speaker 11: to get yourself worked up about a league that you
[34:31] Speaker 11: have no business or talent could be in. They're doing
[34:34] Speaker 11: fine without you, So please scurry back to obscurity.
[34:39] Speaker 2: And was I talking about quarterbacks?
[34:41] Speaker 11: If you want more hotcakes on quarterbacks, be sure to
[34:45] Speaker 11: join us in the next couple of days because NFL
[34:47] Speaker 11: Fantasy Live returns August seventeenth.
[34:51] Speaker 2: You me, Cynthia, it's gonna be.
[34:53] Speaker 1: A time that's gonna be great, except for the person
[34:56] Speaker 1: that rank was just talking about, who's just an efforthoughtans leagues.
[35:00] Speaker 2: We got more coming up here.
[35:02] Speaker 1: On the Insiders as we look to the future of
[35:06] Speaker 1: the NFL and to the past, as USA gets involved
[35:10] Speaker 1: with some vets and service members. That's next a Lance
[35:12] Speaker 1: Briggs on the inside.
[35:24] Speaker 2: We're back here on the Insiders. These are the.
[35:26] Speaker 1: Most pol Pro Bowl seasons by off ball linebackers in
[35:29] Speaker 1: the last thirty years, by Hall of Fame eligible players.
[35:33] Speaker 1: You look at all, they're all in the Hall of
[35:35] Speaker 1: Fame except for one. Lance Briggs was seven, the same
[35:38] Speaker 1: as junior say Ol Patrick Willis, Luke Kickley who just
[35:40] Speaker 1: went in, Zach Thomas.
[35:43] Speaker 2: Lance Briggs now joining us on the Insiders.
[35:45] Speaker 1: Lance just wanted to sept tone because you know, we
[35:49] Speaker 1: support players who deserve to be places being in places
[35:52] Speaker 1: here on the Insiders, thanks for joining us. You've got
[35:54] Speaker 1: the USAA Salute to Service boot Camp.
[35:59] Speaker 2: Can you tell us about that?
[36:01] Speaker 20: Well, you know, it's uh, it's number one, it's it's
[36:04] Speaker 20: a it's an awesome partnership you know that that the
[36:07] Speaker 20: NFL has, you know, with the military end, and it's
[36:09] Speaker 20: a it's a it's a thank you. But it's also
[36:12] Speaker 20: in the Walter Payton Center. It's a great opportunity for
[36:15] Speaker 20: a lot of the the military members to come in
[36:18] Speaker 20: and compete in some NFL combine style drills, you know,
[36:23] Speaker 20: so you get to see what who in the military
[36:27] Speaker 20: could could could cut it in in in football or
[36:31] Speaker 20: in pro football, in the in the NFL.
[36:33] Speaker 1: And what's it like for you personally to be able
[36:35] Speaker 1: to take these men and women through this boot camp.
[36:40] Speaker 20: Well, it's near and dear to me. You know, I
[36:42] Speaker 20: wouldn't be here with without the military. And when I
[36:45] Speaker 20: say that, my mother and my father literally met serving
[36:50] Speaker 20: you know, in the army. So yes, they they absolutely
[36:55] Speaker 20: give me my comforts every day and I get up
[36:58] Speaker 20: and I eat my eggs because you know, somebody is
[37:01] Speaker 20: sacrificing overseas and protecting our walls. But my mother and
[37:07] Speaker 20: father literally met in the army and and I was
[37:10] Speaker 20: created because of it.
[37:12] Speaker 1: Let's get to your Chicago Bears, where the expectations are
[37:15] Speaker 1: pretty high because of what they were able to accomplish,
[37:17] Speaker 1: especially late in.
[37:18] Speaker 2: Games last year.
[37:19] Speaker 1: How do you feel they go about duplicating the success
[37:22] Speaker 1: that they had in twenty twenty five.
[37:24] Speaker 20: Well, you know, you gotta Last year, we had to
[37:27] Speaker 20: keep an ad machine around for the heart, you know,
[37:30] Speaker 20: because they were shocking us every week. You know, this
[37:33] Speaker 20: year you know, let's let's let's win games more decisively,
[37:38] Speaker 20: you know, so that we're not at the edge of
[37:40] Speaker 20: our seat every game was Now, it was exciting.
[37:43] Speaker 2: We love that.
[37:44] Speaker 20: But I think the expectation now with this team, with
[37:48] Speaker 20: this coach and the moves that they've made, it's got
[37:54] Speaker 20: to be greater than eleven wins.
[37:56] Speaker 1: And last you were part of a team that was
[37:58] Speaker 1: able to take the ball away Considerablemount Loud last year.
[38:00] Speaker 1: Taking the ball away to almost an historical sense, is
[38:04] Speaker 1: that something that's going to be you're in, you're out,
[38:06] Speaker 1: tough to duplicate or can they have that similar success
[38:09] Speaker 1: forcing turnovers with Dennis Allen's defense.
[38:11] Speaker 20: This year, Well, if you understand, you know where the
[38:15] Speaker 20: bread and butter is, and that's on the offense. You know,
[38:17] Speaker 20: you look around on the offense and there's you know,
[38:20] Speaker 20: every position, there's something that you can argue why they're
[38:25] Speaker 20: supposed to be successful this year. So get the ball
[38:28] Speaker 20: back to that puts a premium on taking the ball away,
[38:34] Speaker 20: you know, winning on third down, being able to stop
[38:37] Speaker 20: the run, because I think the only way that you
[38:39] Speaker 20: can slow this team down is by keeping your offense
[38:42] Speaker 20: off the ball. That means that you would have to
[38:44] Speaker 20: be to be able to run the ball successfully against
[38:47] Speaker 20: the Bears, and.
[38:49] Speaker 1: Being able to run the ball something they did to
[38:52] Speaker 1: a very extreme extent, especially down the stretch last year.
[38:56] Speaker 1: What's the biggest you think hurdle for this team to
[39:00] Speaker 1: duplicate that success in twenty twenty six.
[39:03] Speaker 2: Health health, health, I think for a lot of teams.
[39:06] Speaker 20: When you find these teams that have these great runs,
[39:11] Speaker 20: health always comes into play. You know, you can stay
[39:15] Speaker 20: healthy for the majority of the year, have your bye
[39:19] Speaker 20: week come at the right time, you know, be able
[39:21] Speaker 20: to rest those guys another an additional week or two
[39:25] Speaker 20: and have them on the field. You find a lot
[39:28] Speaker 20: of success. Now you have a year where you know, listen,
[39:31] Speaker 20: things are going great. You're leading the NFC, NFC nor
[39:34] Speaker 20: if you're leading the NFC altogether, you have playoffs locked up,
[39:38] Speaker 20: and you lose a player like Caleb Williams. You know
[39:41] Speaker 20: that's that's too big of a loss to carry over,
[39:45] Speaker 20: and that happens for a lot of these teams.
[39:48] Speaker 2: So for me, health, health is the key. You know,
[39:51] Speaker 2: the talent is there, health is the key.
[39:53] Speaker 1: And that will be the key and the goal for
[39:55] Speaker 1: most folks in that area. A lance thank you for
[39:58] Speaker 1: the work that you're doing with the USA, and thanks
[39:59] Speaker 1: for I want us here on this.
[40:00] Speaker 2: Edition of The Insiders. You got it. Thanks for having me.
[40:05] Speaker 1: The Bills looking forward to the opening of new high
[40:07] Speaker 1: Mark Stadium for its very first preseason game coming up
[40:10] Speaker 1: this weekend. But before that, Mike Garriffalo and Kyle Brandt
[40:14] Speaker 1: take us on a tour of the Buffalo Bills new stadium.
[40:19] Speaker 2: You were in the concourse. I'm here with Mike just
[40:21] Speaker 2: to get some perspective. Like, here's the field right here.
[40:24] Speaker 12: This is the brand new grass field, and here is
[40:27] Speaker 12: a wonderfully unobstructed.
[40:29] Speaker 2: View of it.
[40:29] Speaker 12: You can see everything right. It's a nice intimate little stadium.
[40:32] Speaker 12: But Mike and I want to show you, yea, the
[40:34] Speaker 12: personal details. It's not just some generic stadium, Mike, it's
[40:37] Speaker 12: the personal touch. This is ESPN cribs right here. Thank
[40:39] Speaker 12: you for joining us. Hopefully you're old enough to get there.
[40:41] Speaker 5: So the shocker.
[40:42] Speaker 2: Welcome to my house. Yeah, so we're going to the table. Yeah,
[40:46] Speaker 2: let's look at the table. Okay, where the magic happens.
[40:50] Speaker 8: Mike.
[40:50] Speaker 2: You might say this didn't pass inspection. No, no, no,
[40:53] Speaker 2: this is intentional.
[40:54] Speaker 3: Right here, this is the broken table and homage to
[40:57] Speaker 3: everything that's going to be happening outside the building. Uh,
[41:00] Speaker 3: the beer pong and if the cups were that big,
[41:03] Speaker 3: I'd be a world champion beer pong player.
[41:05] Speaker 2: Right here. So we've got the table right here.
[41:07] Speaker 3: Your thoughts on, Uh, it's still low enough to take
[41:10] Speaker 3: like people should get up there.
[41:11] Speaker 12: Yeah, so a couple of thoughts. The first thing I
[41:14] Speaker 12: tried to do was, you know, obviously climb it. So
[41:16] Speaker 12: I jumped up here, and you can, because I wonder
[41:19] Speaker 12: if at some point during the season you'll be Bills
[41:21] Speaker 12: fans who actually try to climb up on this table
[41:23] Speaker 12: for real, not coincidence. I liked it right back there,
[41:28] Speaker 12: like just feet away, there's like eight hundred labats.
[41:31] Speaker 2: Me ould go ahead, Mike, you know, well, Mike's looking
[41:34] Speaker 2: I like that.
[41:34] Speaker 12: There's also a warning here, and if if you read
[41:37] Speaker 12: the fine prints of the warning, it says, remember Bill's
[41:40] Speaker 12: Mafia's forever tailbones are not what do.
[41:44] Speaker 2: You got nothing? It's four twenty five somewhere. Come on,
[41:47] Speaker 2: let's go get me in there. Mike's gonna be halfway
[41:49] Speaker 2: in the bag. But this is again, you can make
[41:51] Speaker 2: a stadium. It's just it's cement to seats. It's a field,
[41:54] Speaker 2: we get it.
[41:55] Speaker 12: It's the personal touches, it's the giant table monuments you
[41:59] Speaker 12: could call to all those maniacs we call Bill's mafia.
[42:02] Speaker 12: And it's a really great looking stadium so far intimate
[42:04] Speaker 12: as health, I'm really into it.
[42:06] Speaker 2: Thanks to Kyle and Mike G.
[42:08] Speaker 1: You want an unobstructed view of the preseason the NFL,
[42:12] Speaker 1: check out ESPN and the NFL Network.
[42:14] Speaker 2: Here is a week one pre season schedule.
[42:17] Speaker 1: After the Panthers and the Cardinals gave us a great
[42:20] Speaker 1: preseason opener last Thursday, looking forward to that. Inside Training
[42:26] Speaker 1: Camp has its season finale coming up tomorrow on NFL Network.
[42:30] Speaker 1: Will be live at the Bucks, Jets joint practice live
[42:33] Speaker 1: with the Chiefs, Falcons and Broncos, and we will conclude
[42:36] Speaker 1: our live camp coverage the vast network of flights, interviews,
[42:40] Speaker 1: camera setups and collaboration that make it all possible. We
[42:43] Speaker 1: enjoy bringing that to you here on NFL Network, and
[42:46] Speaker 1: we will of course be here to put a bow
[42:48] Speaker 1: on all of that tomorrow on The Insiders at seven
