## Transcript

[0:00] Speaker 1: Of the law and order franchises, SVU is considered especially watchable.
[0:04] Speaker 2: We are the amateur detectives who kind of investigate the
[0:07] Speaker 2: vicious felonies. These episodes are based on.
[0:09] Speaker 1: These are our stories.
[0:10] Speaker 3: Done done, Yay, that's messed up.
[0:29] Speaker 2: An SVU podcast. I'm Liza Traeger and I'm Kara Klink.
[0:34] Speaker 1: Every week it's SVU episode recaps true crimes. Sometimes guests,
[0:40] Speaker 1: but not today. And so let's chat a little bit.
[0:44] Speaker 1: What's going on, what's the latest.
[0:47] Speaker 2: The latest? Nothing, I'm go, Go Go, Sacramento. Thanks everyone
[0:51] Speaker 2: for coming out. And then the club had a fucking
[0:53] Speaker 2: puppy adoption event for Valentine's Day before my show. On
[0:57] Speaker 2: one of the days, I got to hold a puppy
[1:00] Speaker 2: and it was just like I fell in love with
[1:01] Speaker 2: this puppy. It was really really hard to not take him,
[1:04] Speaker 2: but what are you gonna do? And it's like all
[1:06] Speaker 2: these little chocolate lab puppies, and so they were called
[1:10] Speaker 2: the chocolate chips, like as a group, as a collective
[1:15] Speaker 2: chocolate though.
[1:17] Speaker 4: That was really cute.
[1:18] Speaker 2: No, I think a lot of my friends are worried
[1:20] Speaker 2: for me because of the heated rivalry of it all,
[1:22] Speaker 2: even though.
[1:22] Speaker 4: Overall my life is better.
[1:24] Speaker 2: But Saturday, I finally did have a moment where I go,
[1:26] Speaker 2: maybe this is a problem.
[1:28] Speaker 4: I did have a date. I have okay Saturday, Okay,
[1:30] Speaker 4: because that's progress.
[1:32] Speaker 2: Because I finished the book on my flight to Sacramento
[1:35] Speaker 2: and then I was like, well, this sucks. So then Saturday,
[1:38] Speaker 2: I just listened to the score and reread the book
[1:40] Speaker 2: or watched the show or looked at memes.
[1:43] Speaker 4: And that's when I went, hmmm, hmmm, hmm.
[1:48] Speaker 1: Yeah, because people keep telling me like I'm so obsessed
[1:52] Speaker 1: with heated rivalry. I was like, you don't even know
[1:54] Speaker 1: what the word obsessed means. You don't even god high.
[1:56] Speaker 2: But the thing is I have some well I have
[2:00] Speaker 2: a few, like minor groups that are like into it.
[2:03] Speaker 2: I only send them like super funny or specific to
[2:06] Speaker 2: them that they would like. And then I have one
[2:08] Speaker 2: other crazy bitch, and like we send each other. I
[2:10] Speaker 2: would say like seven to ten a day. And then
[2:12] Speaker 2: I was about to send something and I was about
[2:15] Speaker 2: to send it to friend, like not her, and I
[2:17] Speaker 2: was like, thank god they didn't see. Oh no, I'm like,
[2:19] Speaker 2: if my friends saw this, they would truly send out
[2:23] Speaker 2: like an issue. Yeah, It's it's like about per Se.
[2:29] Speaker 2: It's like, yeah, I'm glad it went to her, so
[2:31] Speaker 2: I at least have like one teather.
[2:33] Speaker 4: I have like one person.
[2:36] Speaker 1: Together. I did send you a tasteful sweatshirt from Zachnoey.
[2:42] Speaker 4: Toowner, really really really good. Oh my god. But I
[2:45] Speaker 4: did post.
[2:45] Speaker 2: I was like, I want someone to recreate because for
[2:48] Speaker 2: Jared Goldstein's birthday, I got him a miniature recreation of
[2:51] Speaker 2: a Jaw's VHS tape and then you open it and
[2:55] Speaker 2: it's a baby VHS and it's Jaws. So to me,
[2:58] Speaker 2: I'm like, oh, they need to make a rep of
[3:00] Speaker 2: Illy on the cover of this hockey game, like someone
[3:03] Speaker 2: will eventually make it, and no one's making it. So
[3:05] Speaker 2: I post about it because I'm pissed. And someone goes,
[3:08] Speaker 2: it's Shane on the cover, not Ilia because blah blah
[3:10] Speaker 2: blah blah, and I wrote wrong, and then sent her
[3:14] Speaker 2: a photo of the game and she goes, oh my bad.
[3:15] Speaker 1: I go, yeah, I don't know what you're doing. Don't
[3:17] Speaker 1: come for me unless I send for you. Don't don't,
[3:24] Speaker 1: Oh my god. But yeah, that's like this intro is
[3:27] Speaker 1: hard for me.
[3:27] Speaker 2: I mean, I'm keeping up with bald and beautiful I'm watching,
[3:30] Speaker 2: so true Caleb's podcast does have a choke hold on me.
[3:34] Speaker 2: But other than that, I still haven't watched anything outside
[3:36] Speaker 2: of Heated Revalry or SVU and that's oh gosh, I mean,
[3:41] Speaker 2: what about I'm watching.
[3:42] Speaker 4: I keep trying. I swear, I'm like trying.
[3:45] Speaker 2: I try, and because now I have the books and
[3:46] Speaker 2: now I'm going to get all the other books, so
[3:48] Speaker 2: I'm about to read all the books.
[3:50] Speaker 1: Yeah, ooh, you're getting into literature too. This is this
[3:53] Speaker 1: is huge.
[3:54] Speaker 2: I don't know if I'm some literature, but it's definitely
[3:56] Speaker 2: a book and it's definitely on the I.
[3:58] Speaker 4: Don't read, and now you're reading saying yeah, I'm ready.
[4:01] Speaker 1: These are great.
[4:02] Speaker 4: Great, And my first Russian lesson is in two days.
[4:05] Speaker 1: Ooh yeah, yeah, that'll be fun.
[4:10] Speaker 4: I think it'll be really fun.
[4:11] Speaker 2: And I think my parents are gonna be so fucking
[4:13] Speaker 2: excited when I come with some new vocabulary and smoothness.
[4:17] Speaker 2: I think they'll be like, oh yeah, they'll be pumped.
[4:20] Speaker 2: And while I have you guys here, obviously, please come
[4:22] Speaker 2: see me on the road. I'm in Kansas City. If
[4:24] Speaker 2: you're listening to this this week tomorrow, I'm an Aspen
[4:26] Speaker 2: I'm in Chicago, I'm adding Salt Lake, I'm Vegas. I'm
[4:29] Speaker 2: gonna be in Vermont. I just took a March weekend.
[4:32] Speaker 2: I mean, I'm fucking out there. Don't don't make me beg.
[4:34] Speaker 2: Don't make me beg.
[4:37] Speaker 1: Yeah, go to. You can also go.
[4:41] Speaker 4: What I said, I'll beg. It doesn't matter.
[4:43] Speaker 1: It's like, yeah, you can go to. You can go
[4:45] Speaker 1: to lisa trigger dot com or Glitterurgy's dot com redirects
[4:48] Speaker 1: to there, so you could just go straight there.
[4:51] Speaker 2: I was talking to someone about like something i've really
[4:54] Speaker 2: I'm like trying to manifest something I'm like talking about
[4:56] Speaker 2: and talking about it, and they were like, well, I
[4:58] Speaker 2: just don't want you to like be disappointed. I go, honey,
[5:02] Speaker 2: I'm disappointed all the time. It doesn't matter. I'm like,
[5:03] Speaker 2: what are you talking about? You think you can just disappointed?
[5:07] Speaker 2: Well yeah, they're like, but you have great things happen.
[5:10] Speaker 2: I go, yeah, and those work out, But if they didn't,
[5:12] Speaker 2: I would just be disappointed. But I wanted those things too,
[5:14] Speaker 2: and I got them. So it's like the wat is
[5:18] Speaker 2: always has to be there. But it's weird. Yeah, I
[5:21] Speaker 2: just I think I'm like used to being disappointed by stuff.
[5:25] Speaker 2: It just doesn't bother me. She seemed more sad about it.
[5:27] Speaker 2: I'm like, I don't see it as being sad.
[5:31] Speaker 4: Am I wrong? Am I crazy? Is everyone gonna be
[5:33] Speaker 4: sad for me?
[5:34] Speaker 1: Now? No?
[5:35] Speaker 2: Now I think it's like you have to get used
[5:37] Speaker 2: to being disappointed. I'd rather be disappointed than not have
[5:40] Speaker 2: like big dreams.
[5:42] Speaker 4: Just becah.
[5:43] Speaker 1: I'm trying to get my kids okay with disappointment a
[5:45] Speaker 1: little freaks.
[5:47] Speaker 4: How is that? How is that lesson going? What does
[5:49] Speaker 4: that look like? How do you teach a disappointment?
[5:52] Speaker 1: It was like forty eight degrees this morning in La
[5:55] Speaker 1: and I had to beg rosie to wear a jacket
[5:57] Speaker 1: that she approved of buying a year ago, and then
[6:01] Speaker 1: today accused me of buying it because she knows I
[6:03] Speaker 1: hate it. She goes, you bought this because you know
[6:05] Speaker 1: I don't like it. I was like, I can't even
[6:08] Speaker 1: like And then I start arguing with her like a
[6:10] Speaker 1: rational person, like she's a rational adult, and I have
[6:12] Speaker 1: to stop.
[6:13] Speaker 2: I mean, as a non parent to a parent, I
[6:15] Speaker 2: would say, be cold, go be cold, be cold today?
[6:18] Speaker 4: Then oh my god, be cold.
[6:20] Speaker 1: And last week was like fucking crazy because I was
[6:24] Speaker 1: at school every day so much Valentine Shit. I was
[6:28] Speaker 1: decorating the auditorium for I mean this main room they
[6:31] Speaker 1: have for a dance. I was doing candy grams. I
[6:35] Speaker 1: mean it was I've streamlined the candy gram process at
[6:37] Speaker 1: my children's school, so you know, things are going better
[6:39] Speaker 1: than last year. But fuck, these kids are giving each
[6:44] Speaker 1: other like so huge gifts. Like they came home with
[6:47] Speaker 1: like a haul from Valentine's. Like it was like more
[6:50] Speaker 1: stuff than Halloween.
[6:51] Speaker 2: I feel like, really, so it's not just little cute
[6:54] Speaker 2: cards with a car no like attached exactly.
[6:58] Speaker 4: We did card Rose. You got these cards with jokes
[7:01] Speaker 4: on them.
[7:01] Speaker 1: Oscar got these unicorn cards lollipop attached, and I thought,
[7:05] Speaker 1: that's good, Like it's a big lollipop. It's my favorite,
[7:07] Speaker 1: it's my favorite charms cherry flavor. I really liked it,
[7:11] Speaker 1: heart shaped. And then they come home and I swear
[7:14] Speaker 1: to god, there was a full kit of hair ties,
[7:17] Speaker 1: which obviously Rosie's not going to use.
[7:19] Speaker 4: Those went right to Oscar. There was like toys.
[7:24] Speaker 1: Oscar got a box of chocolates, like a heart, like
[7:27] Speaker 1: are you in a romantic relationship with someone? Like it
[7:30] Speaker 1: was like it's just a lot of stuff, toys, pencils, stamps,
[7:35] Speaker 1: like all kinds of stuff, lots of stuff. They're just stuff.
[7:38] Speaker 1: I don't know. It's funny to me because sometimes it's
[7:42] Speaker 1: like the parents that aren't participating in anything else. But
[7:45] Speaker 1: then I'm like, are you dropping twenty dollars a kid
[7:47] Speaker 1: on Valentines?
[7:50] Speaker 2: But even if it's multiple dollars a kid, that's like a.
[7:53] Speaker 1: Lot adds up. Rosie's got a lot of kids in
[7:55] Speaker 1: her class. Yeah, it's a lot, but yeah.
[7:59] Speaker 2: But I love Valentine's Day and I love those little cards.
[8:03] Speaker 2: Oh my god, someone actually, oh god, people bring me
[8:06] Speaker 2: such good gifts. I have to show it to you. Actually,
[8:09] Speaker 2: just I'll be right back, entertain the masses.
[8:17] Speaker 3: Back.
[8:18] Speaker 4: So it's this book and it's branding art.
[8:23] Speaker 2: Yeah, brand So it's like sickers postcards, full art.
[8:26] Speaker 4: But like look at this, Oh yeah, this is Brandon
[8:30] Speaker 4: Bird right.
[8:31] Speaker 2: Yes, yes, oh that's a book. Yeah I am not
[8:35] Speaker 2: but I haven't seen this. I haven't seen this big one. Like,
[8:38] Speaker 2: oh no, that one is cute. But I've done some
[8:40] Speaker 2: add ons.
[8:41] Speaker 4: Yeah, like exp tell the people what that is.
[8:44] Speaker 1: Okay, So it's like a little boy handing a little
[8:47] Speaker 1: girl a heart Valentine and it has a picture of
[8:50] Speaker 1: Munch's face and it says, hey, cutie, like.
[8:53] Speaker 2: It's so cool to have these as a coloring book.
[8:57] Speaker 2: But then just kind of it. It should be something
[9:00] Speaker 2: for Munch.
[9:01] Speaker 1: It should be like I'd be the second gunman on
[9:03] Speaker 1: the Grassy Knoll for you or something. You know.
[9:05] Speaker 4: How much is like a conspiracy theorist should be like, I.
[9:08] Speaker 2: Like, hey, cutie, I would get that tattooed on my
[9:10] Speaker 2: fucking body, but bellzer on my ass like fucking cool stickers.
[9:17] Speaker 1: Yeah, wait, hold on, let me We love Brandon Bird. Yes,
[9:22] Speaker 1: we've been following him for we've been. We've been We've
[9:25] Speaker 1: been posting his Valentine every single year with an.
[9:28] Speaker 2: Orca like it's so cool. Yeah, ahold on whatever. I
[9:33] Speaker 2: know you guys are listening.
[9:34] Speaker 4: We don't. We're not on fucking YouTube. So I'm sorry.
[9:37] Speaker 2: I'm like talking about this book, but it was just
[9:40] Speaker 2: it's just very thoughtful and I was so happy to.
[9:42] Speaker 4: Get it, and you know, but this is about I
[9:44] Speaker 4: feeling scene.
[9:45] Speaker 1: This is the guy who every year does the SVU
[9:48] Speaker 1: Valentine's Please.
[9:49] Speaker 2: I got a book by him his Instagram. But I
[9:50] Speaker 2: also have some of the Valentine's on my fridge, Like
[9:52] Speaker 2: I'm a fan of the Valentine. I didn't know, and
[9:54] Speaker 2: you guys have.
[9:55] Speaker 4: Given us the Valentines actually when.
[9:56] Speaker 1: We've been on tour. B bird b E E b
[9:59] Speaker 1: U r d his Instagram, So give him a follow.
[10:01] Speaker 1: We love him, we love his art and uh he
[10:04] Speaker 1: makes fun old school type Valentine's with the uh, the cast,
[10:09] Speaker 1: the SVU on it.
[10:12] Speaker 4: Yeah, I was just performing.
[10:13] Speaker 2: But it's like a great weekend to perform, you know, Yeah,
[10:16] Speaker 2: a lot of dates, dates or it's like groups of
[10:20] Speaker 2: fun girls, so it's like overall pretty good. But the
[10:23] Speaker 2: first show Saturday, you could tell people wanted a fuck
[10:27] Speaker 2: and wanted to get out of there. Like I was like,
[10:31] Speaker 2: I sensed the horniness in the room and I had
[10:33] Speaker 2: to end the show.
[10:36] Speaker 4: But one of my favorite things happened.
[10:37] Speaker 2: So there was like someone that does medical studies and
[10:39] Speaker 2: he was trying to create a way for like people
[10:41] Speaker 2: with severed spines to be able to come and like
[10:44] Speaker 2: have sex.
[10:45] Speaker 4: And then I was like, well, did the study work?
[10:48] Speaker 2: And he said no, and then everyone bowed him, and
[10:50] Speaker 2: I just like it was the first time I had
[10:52] Speaker 2: a medical study be booed.
[10:54] Speaker 4: At a comedy show.
[10:55] Speaker 2: It was like life against getting better and better, like
[10:59] Speaker 2: the roar of booth. But he said it didn't work.
[11:01] Speaker 2: Just really like it tickled me. It really tickled me.
[11:05] Speaker 4: Oh my gosh, amazing.
[11:11] Speaker 2: Wait, I do have to ask not to keep going
[11:13] Speaker 2: back to this, but like, do you how do you
[11:15] Speaker 2: feel like the tailor to the heated Like do you
[11:18] Speaker 2: feel more nervous about this?
[11:20] Speaker 1: I would say yes if you're asking, only because Taylor
[11:25] Speaker 1: has a huge catalog of music.
[11:28] Speaker 4: I understand there was a tour coming up.
[11:30] Speaker 1: This is, for all intents and purposes, six hours of television,
[11:34] Speaker 1: So I'm just a little bit nervous. But then I
[11:36] Speaker 1: know there are the books, and there's the lore, and
[11:38] Speaker 1: there's the people, and it's very big in your feet
[11:41] Speaker 1: and everything right now. But I mean, if you're just
[11:44] Speaker 1: asking me my concern level, I'm not calling to get
[11:47] Speaker 1: you fifty one to fifty, but like, I, well, because
[11:50] Speaker 1: you're not alone.
[11:51] Speaker 4: But I'm just like, isn't this what I normally do?
[11:54] Speaker 1: But yeah, kind of it just feels like it's over
[11:57] Speaker 1: such a small or sample size.
[12:01] Speaker 2: Yeah, and I still have like from when we're recording this,
[12:03] Speaker 2: it's still like eleven days till the SNL and I'm like,
[12:06] Speaker 2: I just don't know how I don't see any end insight.
[12:09] Speaker 4: Oh wait, god, what's happening? Which one's hosting SNLI?
[12:12] Speaker 1: Her? Yeah? Yeah, and then all of the I mean,
[12:15] Speaker 1: have you been watching any Olympics?
[12:17] Speaker 2: I have caught Olympics. I have caught Olympics. I was
[12:20] Speaker 2: it was like a really dark no. No. Directly, I
[12:24] Speaker 2: got to Sacramento and watch the Olympics at the Hilton
[12:28] Speaker 2: and Sacramento very bleak in the lobby, having Manhattans and
[12:31] Speaker 2: chicken tenders, and I thought I fought a couple of men.
[12:36] Speaker 4: You fought, Yeah, I did.
[12:40] Speaker 1: Believe, of course, yes, of course, yeah, you're always ready
[12:43] Speaker 1: to fight with your fists. But I know that you
[12:45] Speaker 1: don't do that.
[12:46] Speaker 2: I'm I was talking about Serena Bona Lee, and then
[12:49] Speaker 2: the bartender made a comment about like, at least no
[12:51] Speaker 2: one's taking a knee, and I had to go.
[12:53] Speaker 4: Well, I would have liked that, oh okay.
[12:57] Speaker 2: But then also the guy went, yeah, I didn't know
[12:59] Speaker 2: if that I actually could jump or it was AI?
[13:03] Speaker 4: I go, are you fucking stupid? I go? AI is trash,
[13:06] Speaker 4: that is athleticism.
[13:07] Speaker 2: But I posted about them they gave me the vibe
[13:10] Speaker 2: of the Irish vampires and sinners, like I didn't like
[13:13] Speaker 2: their energy.
[13:15] Speaker 1: I don't understand the reference, but I mean sinners not yet. Remember,
[13:20] Speaker 1: I was too scared. But then everybody says they think
[13:22] Speaker 1: I can see it, it's not You're gonna watch it
[13:25] Speaker 1: movies and you're not gonna try to watch this week.
[13:28] Speaker 1: I'm gonna try to watch that a mental value and
[13:29] Speaker 1: Sinners because I want to try to. I do try
[13:31] Speaker 1: to vote in the SAG Awards, you know, I do
[13:33] Speaker 1: try to vote. I do get a vote, so I
[13:35] Speaker 1: figure why not, So I'm gonna try to vote, but
[13:40] Speaker 1: I'm gonna got to watch these movies. I can't vote,
[13:42] Speaker 1: you know, I can't vote without just for favoritism. Are
[13:46] Speaker 1: you and I know no information following the Canadian curling scandal, there's.
[13:52] Speaker 4: Yes, not fully what's happening? Can you summarize it for me?
[13:55] Speaker 1: Because my siblings are texting about it and I'm like,
[13:57] Speaker 1: I'm busy.
[13:58] Speaker 4: So I don't know.
[13:58] Speaker 2: So basically, there's guy and he's caught on camera cheating.
[14:02] Speaker 4: He used a finger to push the thing.
[14:04] Speaker 2: But then I found out that like you see footage
[14:07] Speaker 2: and his teammates are like fuck you, and he's like,
[14:09] Speaker 2: I didn't do it, Go fuck yourselves, and it's like
[14:11] Speaker 2: you did do it. So and I guess he's very
[14:13] Speaker 2: hated and they all hate him already.
[14:15] Speaker 4: There's a camera on you every second.
[14:18] Speaker 2: Yeah, and it's like he brought shame upon Canada and
[14:20] Speaker 2: a really beautiful time for Canada.
[14:21] Speaker 1: So it's upside.
[14:23] Speaker 2: But also women's hockey America beat Canada, which I guess
[14:27] Speaker 2: hasn't happened in like decades or.
[14:28] Speaker 1: Something like that.
[14:30] Speaker 2: I the ice skating. I love the Japanese couple tears.
[14:34] Speaker 2: They went from fifth to first like a program of
[14:36] Speaker 2: a lifetime.
[14:37] Speaker 4: Joy like loved it.
[14:40] Speaker 2: Poor Quad god falling getting eighth place shocking, shocking, of course.
[14:46] Speaker 2: I love I love the punk rock girls. I love
[14:49] Speaker 2: my girlies. I love piercings and wild places, funny hair.
[14:55] Speaker 4: I like the I like the girls.
[14:57] Speaker 2: I would say I didn't pay attention as much to
[15:00] Speaker 2: the French dance, like the French in the US. There's
[15:03] Speaker 2: controversy there, but I didn't really pay attention.
[15:06] Speaker 1: Oh with ice dancing.
[15:08] Speaker 2: Yeah, and then the Norway girl she got for speed skating.
[15:15] Speaker 2: The bodies, the bodies in speed skating are like the
[15:17] Speaker 2: standout hits for me in terms of Olympics. We don't
[15:20] Speaker 2: talk about speed skating bodies. You know what the best
[15:22] Speaker 2: part has been Colin Jost talking about going into a
[15:27] Speaker 2: bob sled was the best thing of the Olympics for me.
[15:30] Speaker 4: I watched it three times.
[15:31] Speaker 2: He truly, I think thought he was gonna die and
[15:35] Speaker 2: it was very funny to watch him spiral out of control.
[15:39] Speaker 1: That's so funny.
[15:41] Speaker 2: They put Colin joss just nightmares because I think he's
[15:44] Speaker 2: so funny in distress.
[15:46] Speaker 1: Like because because he's like I've already hit the fucking jackpot,
[15:50] Speaker 1: like somehow I'm married to Scarla Johansson even though I'm
[15:52] Speaker 1: like a comedian. And then it's like, don't like I
[15:56] Speaker 1: can't have my life be like my death be like
[15:59] Speaker 1: a huge like I die in a bob sledding accident
[16:02] Speaker 1: trying to do a bit for the Olympics.
[16:04] Speaker 2: I mean they had a driver, but it goes to
[16:05] Speaker 2: like one hundred and time miles, like the these races
[16:09] Speaker 2: are crazy. But I found out, like a lot of countries,
[16:11] Speaker 2: if you're just really good at sports but not all
[16:13] Speaker 2: the way like you play in college or like you're
[16:16] Speaker 2: not for the majors.
[16:16] Speaker 4: But you're an athletic person. Do we already talk about this?
[16:19] Speaker 1: No?
[16:20] Speaker 2: Oh, they recruit for these weird sports. There's like a
[16:23] Speaker 2: whole thing where they bring all these athletic weirdos in. Yeah,
[16:27] Speaker 2: or you know, and then they test you and they
[16:29] Speaker 2: see what you could be good at, and then you
[16:30] Speaker 2: start training in these weird sports and that's all a lot.
[16:34] Speaker 4: You don't see kids doing bob sledding like.
[16:36] Speaker 2: At age eight, when I bet it's like a kid
[16:38] Speaker 2: who was great at hockey maybe one state, like went
[16:41] Speaker 2: to college, got drafted but didn't play. They'll bring him
[16:46] Speaker 2: and be like, maybe you can get in one of
[16:48] Speaker 2: these I.
[16:50] Speaker 1: Want to know what they're doing in there. How are
[16:52] Speaker 1: they moving?
[16:52] Speaker 4: I don't under I.
[16:53] Speaker 1: Don't know it.
[16:54] Speaker 2: Skeleton's crazy, the bops, it's all psychotic. It's all psychotic.
[16:58] Speaker 2: But I'm trying to think what else besides what I
[17:01] Speaker 2: just rattled off that I am focusing. Obviously I'm crying
[17:06] Speaker 2: every time I see a parent celebrating.
[17:08] Speaker 1: Of course. Yeah, that was my reference when I made
[17:12] Speaker 1: Conan O'Brien laugh one time. Was I was leaving the
[17:15] Speaker 1: Page program to go work at the Torino Olympics and
[17:18] Speaker 1: I was the conan page. So I left him a
[17:20] Speaker 1: note in his office being in his dressing room, being like,
[17:23] Speaker 1: thank you so much for the opportunity. I've learned so
[17:25] Speaker 1: much blah blah blah. I was really trying to get
[17:27] Speaker 1: a job there. And he was like, oh, hey, I
[17:30] Speaker 1: got your note. Where you off to And I go,
[17:31] Speaker 1: I'm going to the Olympics. He goes, what's your event?
[17:33] Speaker 1: And I go skeleton and he like laughed so hard.
[17:37] Speaker 1: I didn't even really know what skeleton was. I just
[17:39] Speaker 1: learned about it. Wait.
[17:44] Speaker 4: Also the All Star Game.
[17:47] Speaker 2: Basketball, and I've mostly been just watching behind the scenes
[17:53] Speaker 2: footage of the guys and like signing each other's jerseys
[17:56] Speaker 2: and bringing their kids together and just the guys having fun.
[17:59] Speaker 2: But I think it's because of heated revelry and they're
[18:01] Speaker 2: all star games. Is why I'm like interested in this
[18:03] Speaker 2: All Star Game. I'll be honest. But it's been cute
[18:05] Speaker 2: and there's like a tall guy named like I don't know,
[18:08] Speaker 2: there was like a spirit in the air.
[18:10] Speaker 1: Yeah. I saw. I ran into CJ over the weekend
[18:12] Speaker 1: and he was in town for that okay, and I
[18:15] Speaker 1: was like, how's it going.
[18:16] Speaker 4: He's like I'm old, I know, but it was cute.
[18:22] Speaker 2: Wemby like this tall, tall guy, tall guy.
[18:25] Speaker 1: I don't know anything about that All Star Game, but
[18:28] Speaker 1: I did go see a cute movie called Goat. Oh
[18:31] Speaker 1: you said that, Okay, what was it with the kids?
[18:35] Speaker 1: And I really liked it. I thought it was really good.
[18:39] Speaker 1: If you have kids, go see this Goat movie. I
[18:41] Speaker 1: literally saw preview flow. Did you bring it up because
[18:43] Speaker 1: Steph Curry isn't it?
[18:44] Speaker 4: Huh? But you didn't bring it up because Steph Curry
[18:47] Speaker 4: isn't it? Did you know?
[18:48] Speaker 1: Why would I do that?
[18:50] Speaker 2: Well, because we're talking about the All Star Game and
[18:51] Speaker 2: he's in the NBA in the movie.
[18:53] Speaker 1: No, I just did it because it's kind of about
[18:54] Speaker 1: it's like about basketball. Oh it is, okay, yeah, well
[18:57] Speaker 1: it's called roar ball, but it's basketball. You know, like
[19:00] Speaker 1: in the movie the sport is called roarball, but it's basketball,
[19:03] Speaker 1: and like it's a lot of basketball, Like it's very basketball.
[19:07] Speaker 1: There's a lot of really funny jokes in it. Gabrielle
[19:10] Speaker 1: Union's voice Steph Curry is a voice. I was like
[19:13] Speaker 1: racking my brain being like, are you a big Steph
[19:15] Speaker 1: Curry fan? Was I supposed to bring it up because
[19:17] Speaker 1: of you, like.
[19:19] Speaker 4: Oh, and the Obama's being there like God bless.
[19:22] Speaker 1: Oh yeah, the Obama wanted to be that a little
[19:24] Speaker 1: bit of them making an appearance.
[19:26] Speaker 2: I don't know if this was your old but someone
[19:27] Speaker 2: made sure to get a photo of their like mom
[19:29] Speaker 2: with Queen Latifah, and then it was like, oh there
[19:32] Speaker 2: was also I guess. There's these players and you just
[19:34] Speaker 2: see one of them be like Grandma, it's enough pictures
[19:39] Speaker 2: cute like I like that, or like another player's kids
[19:42] Speaker 2: being like we want to meet that guy. I just
[19:45] Speaker 2: it's heartwarming to me. I love it. Yeah, this movie
[19:49] Speaker 2: looks good. Is it like Space Jam? No?
[19:51] Speaker 1: I mean I've never seen Space Jam as you you've
[19:54] Speaker 1: never seen Space Jam? I know you. I gotta watch
[19:57] Speaker 1: it with the kids, Like kids are going to love it.
[19:59] Speaker 1: I know, I know, I know, especially now that we
[20:01] Speaker 1: just watch Goat, they really liked it. I swear to god.
[20:04] Speaker 1: At the end there's like a big moment and Oscar
[20:06] Speaker 1: was clapping and like he normally is like, you know,
[20:09] Speaker 1: not the one that's super into sports stuff, and.
[20:12] Speaker 2: Dude, I'm gonna see Goat before I see like Papillion,
[20:14] Speaker 2: like I'm a love I had.
[20:16] Speaker 1: A lot of It's like a cute movie about like
[20:19] Speaker 1: following your dreams, obviously, but then there's a lot of
[20:22] Speaker 1: funny jokes in it. I thought it was really funny,
[20:24] Speaker 1: and the animation style is cool. It's like not the
[20:27] Speaker 1: same that you always see. It's a little bit different.
[20:29] Speaker 1: It's like a little bit different. It's Sony. So it's
[20:31] Speaker 1: the people that do like all the Transylvania's and Mitchell's
[20:35] Speaker 1: versus the Machines, which I also love. I like like
[20:38] Speaker 1: what they have going on over there at Sony Animation
[20:40] Speaker 1: some A lot of times, I don't know if all
[20:41] Speaker 1: I like everything.
[20:42] Speaker 2: But I also when you do watch Space Gym with
[20:45] Speaker 2: the kids, I have a theory that all the little
[20:47] Speaker 2: aliens are gay. Let me know what you feel, okay.
[20:51] Speaker 1: I tried to show my friends, my friends, my kids
[20:55] Speaker 1: missus Doubtfire over the weekend because my friend told me
[20:58] Speaker 1: that her kids loved it. Oh boy, you forgot that
[21:02] Speaker 1: like movies from that time period. Let you take so
[21:04] Speaker 1: much time, Like there's a full divorce at the beginning
[21:08] Speaker 1: of that movie. I thought they just started the movie
[21:10] Speaker 1: divorced kind of No, there's like a divorce Adulph know,
[21:15] Speaker 1: like you get it's a while before Missus Doubtfire appears.
[21:18] Speaker 1: It's a while okay. And then my kids were like,
[21:21] Speaker 1: when is she gonna when is he gonna dress up?
[21:23] Speaker 1: And I was like, it's coming, it's coming. And now
[21:26] Speaker 1: if Jared and I say anything, they're like, are you
[21:28] Speaker 1: guys gonna get a divorce? Because now divorce has like
[21:30] Speaker 1: been so spelled out for them and Missus Doubtfire. We're like, no,
[21:35] Speaker 1: we're not getting a divorce. Actually, Jared was out and
[21:37] Speaker 1: the kids were like, oh, did daddy do something? Are
[21:40] Speaker 1: you gonna get a divorce? I was like, why, because
[21:41] Speaker 1: you just watched Missus Doubtfire. No, he's not.
[21:43] Speaker 4: Did they finish it? No, they got pretty far.
[21:48] Speaker 1: We got to the run.
[21:50] Speaker 2: The bird Cage is faster. They get down to South
[21:53] Speaker 2: Beach quick.
[21:55] Speaker 1: Bird Cage is so good. It might be a little old,
[21:57] Speaker 1: but like a movie that says your money's on the
[22:01] Speaker 1: dresser chocolate, I don't know if we can do that
[22:03] Speaker 1: quite yet with my six and four year old. But
[22:06] Speaker 1: they got to It's There was a one run that
[22:08] Speaker 1: was a run by fruiting or whatever, and Rosie keeps
[22:10] Speaker 1: saying that, but we didn't they And they got to
[22:13] Speaker 1: the point where he's peeing standing up and his son
[22:15] Speaker 1: catches him, and Rosie was like, oh.
[22:18] Speaker 2: So they'll continue. Yeah, you left off on the peeing,
[22:21] Speaker 2: so they'll be yack, and Rosie was Rosie would have
[22:23] Speaker 2: kept going.
[22:24] Speaker 1: Oscar is at a very anti live action phase, as
[22:27] Speaker 1: I've mentioned.
[22:28] Speaker 4: But let's get started. Let's get started.
[22:31] Speaker 1: Let's get We've got a great episode for you guys today.
[22:33] Speaker 1: Another reminder that our Patreon is bumping this week. We've
[22:37] Speaker 1: got an episode coming to you that's a recap of
[22:41] Speaker 1: the Cult of the Housewife, a three part documentary on
[22:45] Speaker 1: HBO about Mary Cosby from the Real Housewives of Salt
[22:48] Speaker 1: Lake City. It's super interesting. Whatever you think you know,
[22:51] Speaker 1: you think you know, but you have no idea MTV
[22:53] Speaker 1: diary but yeah, go to patreon dot com slash that's
[22:58] Speaker 1: messed up and join us over on Patreon if you
[23:00] Speaker 1: have time. And the way.
[23:04] Speaker 2: The guy who made Papillion his gay awakening was Ground's
[23:08] Speaker 2: Keeper Willie from The Simpsons.
[23:10] Speaker 4: How fun is that?
[23:12] Speaker 1: That's crazy? I'm sorry, is Groundskeeper Willie a gay man?
[23:18] Speaker 2: No, he's just hot. He's like a muscular guy. Oh okay,
[23:22] Speaker 2: I don't think I knew that. Yeah, okay, papillion, all right,
[23:27] Speaker 2: I don't know. I gotta find this, all.
[23:30] Speaker 1: Right, I'm starting.
[23:31] Speaker 4: We start, Let's start, let's start.
[23:33] Speaker 1: Let's start.
[23:37] Speaker 2: Okay, we're doing pursuit, which I'm excited about. You know,
[23:40] Speaker 2: a one word title is always a joy in our
[23:43] Speaker 2: SVU universe.
[23:45] Speaker 4: Yeah, we'll start.
[23:45] Speaker 1: Okay.
[23:46] Speaker 2: So there's a knock at the door. It's aggressive and fast,
[23:49] Speaker 2: and then there's a short, short haired woman approaches the door,
[23:54] Speaker 2: and then a pedophile comes in. This woman is not
[23:57] Speaker 2: a child, and I don't know how this pedophile is
[23:59] Speaker 2: tricked if he's a through pedophile. This is clearly a
[24:01] Speaker 2: woman undercover. Like, there's no childlike qualities to her glasses.
[24:06] Speaker 4: He's nervous, he's looking around.
[24:08] Speaker 2: He looks like, who's the guy the Bagley Junior at
[24:12] Speaker 2: Bagley Junior.
[24:13] Speaker 4: That's what he's looking like. Oh, okay, you saw it,
[24:16] Speaker 4: you see it?
[24:17] Speaker 1: I see it. Yeah. It's like it's like the light,
[24:19] Speaker 1: it's like kind of the skin matching your hair color.
[24:21] Speaker 4: Yeah, there's a lot of that in this episode.
[24:23] Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, there's a few blonde beards. Yeah, there's a few. Yeah, okay, yeah,
[24:30] Speaker 2: I I'm glad you noticed the problems right from the beginning.
[24:34] Speaker 2: So there's a paper bag, and so we obviously know
[24:37] Speaker 2: what's going to be in there. So there's a woman,
[24:40] Speaker 2: uh there, Yeah, she's undercover. She's just not a child.
[24:44] Speaker 4: Okay, he's got she's I mean, it's the wig is
[24:48] Speaker 4: pretty bad.
[24:49] Speaker 1: I feel like it's a really crazy wig that this
[24:51] Speaker 1: person's wearing.
[24:52] Speaker 2: So he has beer. Obviously, he wants to send the couch.
[24:55] Speaker 2: He wants to watch TV. He calls her baby doll.
[24:57] Speaker 2: He's moving fast. So then Deborah Messing up behind them.
[25:04] Speaker 1: And then Deborah Messing appears as herself.
[25:09] Speaker 2: And she's behind him with a camera crew. He's being
[25:12] Speaker 2: recorded and his face drops. He knows what's up. You know,
[25:15] Speaker 2: there's condoms, there's lube. And so this woman's name is
[25:18] Speaker 2: Alisha Harding and she's the host of Neighborhood Predator and
[25:23] Speaker 2: this guy is a father, husband's school teacher, Peedo Trifecta
[25:28] Speaker 2: and Sonia Paxton's involved in this. And I did spell
[25:31] Speaker 2: Sonia Paxton. I would say three different times, three different
[25:33] Speaker 2: ways throughout this. I've spelled it every single way that
[25:37] Speaker 2: I could. So we have her, we have Benson Iced tea.
[25:39] Speaker 2: They're watching all of this go down. They have his
[25:42] Speaker 2: emails and he's sending porn to the kids, so it's
[25:45] Speaker 2: like there's no way around it. And then the lube
[25:48] Speaker 2: and condoms fall out of the bag. He's screaming, it's
[25:50] Speaker 2: a setup. You're a pedo. You're caught, Like, have some
[25:53] Speaker 2: dignity at least admit it. Admit you've been caught. So
[25:58] Speaker 2: it's done. Cameras everyone where he tries running, Lol, Deborah
[26:02] Speaker 2: tases him so he falls to the ground.
[26:08] Speaker 1: It's just like I respect that all actors are like
[26:13] Speaker 1: very trained in multiple disciplines and everything, but she's so
[26:17] Speaker 1: grace adler to me forever that in this episode, Like
[26:22] Speaker 1: she's good, she's just trying so hard. She's so deadly
[26:25] Speaker 1: serious in this episode, like she will not Like she's
[26:28] Speaker 1: just like through gritted teeth, like wants that Emmy nomination
[26:32] Speaker 1: so badly, you know what I mean, Like for the
[26:35] Speaker 1: guest role, Like.
[26:36] Speaker 2: Yeah, I never watched it. The one thing I've watched
[26:38] Speaker 2: of hers was The Wedding Date. Is that a movie
[26:40] Speaker 2: that's part of your life or no?
[26:41] Speaker 4: No?
[26:42] Speaker 2: Yeah, Like she has to hire Patrick Dempsey to be
[26:45] Speaker 2: a date for a wedding because she's.
[26:47] Speaker 1: So gross that no one will go to a wedding
[26:49] Speaker 1: with her, Like what, what's the premise? Why?
[26:51] Speaker 4: And then they fall in love, right, yeah, they fall
[26:53] Speaker 4: in love.
[26:53] Speaker 2: But I think maybe there's an x or like she
[26:55] Speaker 2: was dumped or she's a loser, yeah something, okay, okay.
[26:59] Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean I loved Will and Grace so much,
[27:02] Speaker 1: like I was a huge Will and Grace fan, so,
[27:05] Speaker 1: but it's just seeing her with this, Like her mouth
[27:08] Speaker 1: is like small, she's like clenching her teeth.
[27:10] Speaker 2: It's like a lot. Yeah, it's like, get a lot,
[27:13] Speaker 2: get a life. You can't take one day off trying
[27:14] Speaker 2: to solve your sister's murder, Like.
[27:18] Speaker 4: It's been twenty five years, babe, take a break. Yeah.
[27:21] Speaker 2: So she tases this motherfucker uniform cops come to arrest
[27:24] Speaker 2: him down in the lobbies. Sonya and Deborah are walking
[27:27] Speaker 2: and then Benson and I see her walking as well,
[27:29] Speaker 2: and they all meet in the middle of the frame
[27:30] Speaker 2: and Finn's like, bitch, give.
[27:32] Speaker 4: Me the taser. He's pissed.
[27:35] Speaker 2: Deb is like, wow, he doesn't like me, and Benson goes, yeah,
[27:37] Speaker 2: he doesn't like civilians trying to do his job, and
[27:39] Speaker 2: she goes, I think his name on eighteen arrests should
[27:42] Speaker 2: soothe his soul, Thank you very much and whatever. So
[27:47] Speaker 2: then a person comes in with a package. I know him.
[27:49] Speaker 2: This is Hank Chen. We did a pilot together. So
[27:53] Speaker 2: thrilled to.
[27:53] Speaker 4: See uh his face.
[27:55] Speaker 2: So love Hank, Love that he's here doing my dream
[28:00] Speaker 2: roll the audition I bombed handing something over to Detective Benson, so,
[28:05] Speaker 2: you know, bittersweet to see his face. He's a pa
[28:09] Speaker 2: in this. She takes the package. Deborah Messing does not
[28:11] Speaker 2: Olivia whatever. So Deborah takes the package. She says, thanks,
[28:14] Speaker 2: suddenly her blood stained hands. There's blood in the box.
[28:17] Speaker 2: What's in the box. It's her lucky scarf. The last
[28:21] Speaker 2: time she saw it was in her bed that morning.
[28:23] Speaker 1: So do you have a piece of clothing that is
[28:26] Speaker 1: your lucky thing? Like when people are like, that's my
[28:30] Speaker 1: lucky sweater, that's my lucky those are my lucky socks
[28:33] Speaker 1: or whatever.
[28:34] Speaker 4: No, not to get into the heated rivalry of it all,
[28:36] Speaker 4: don't start Wait.
[28:37] Speaker 2: Why what socks? Because he wears this the banana sock.
[28:40] Speaker 2: Oh yeah, but I don't care about that storyline. That's
[28:42] Speaker 2: like my controversial opinion. Oh my god, I can't believe
[28:46] Speaker 2: I'm trying to throw in a reference.
[28:47] Speaker 1: I'm not hitting. Okay, it's hitting.
[28:51] Speaker 4: It's hitting.
[28:51] Speaker 1: It's just sorry. No, no secondary, no b plot for Lisa,
[28:56] Speaker 1: got it noted.
[29:00] Speaker 4: I do watch it once in a while. I do.
[29:03] Speaker 4: That's so funny.
[29:04] Speaker 1: No. Yeah.
[29:05] Speaker 2: The socks, I don't know. I don't know why. I
[29:08] Speaker 2: just can't get on board.
[29:09] Speaker 1: I see them now. I see banana socks like everywhere,
[29:11] Speaker 1: and I'm like, oh, petered rivalry because they are in
[29:14] Speaker 1: there are there are a lot of banana socks in
[29:16] Speaker 1: like gift shops. Like, I don't know why, go on.
[29:19] Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, so Benson, so whatever. There's a bloody
[29:23] Speaker 2: lucky scarf. She it's from her bed, and then Benson says,
[29:26] Speaker 2: you have a stalker, and so then the credits, the
[29:29] Speaker 2: credits starts. So she's in woodroom blind. She's annoyed. She's like,
[29:32] Speaker 2: I'm a celebrity. I got a lot of emails ear
[29:35] Speaker 2: being annoying, and they're like, what are you talking about?
[29:38] Speaker 4: We have to take these seriously.
[29:39] Speaker 2: You have a bloody scarf, Like, I hate people that
[29:41] Speaker 2: will not let the people help them. And so she's
[29:44] Speaker 2: gonna keep doing her job. She says she's gonna double
[29:46] Speaker 2: her security. She's not stopping, and Sonya's like, well, I
[29:50] Speaker 2: just wish you told me that, Like people were emailing
[29:51] Speaker 2: you saying they're watching you and coming after you, and
[29:54] Speaker 2: she goes, I can take care of myself, and then
[29:56] Speaker 2: Benson looks perfect, like I truly yeah, like a swoop
[30:02] Speaker 2: long bang, like she kind of pulled it out of
[30:04] Speaker 2: her face and it flopped accidentally but perfectly. And then
[30:08] Speaker 2: there's like a French twist banana clip that does reveal
[30:11] Speaker 2: itself to be a small bun later, but that's the French.
[30:14] Speaker 2: That's like the French shape of it, and it's a
[30:17] Speaker 2: gray like sweater turtleneck.
[30:21] Speaker 4: And I'm just obsessed.
[30:22] Speaker 2: And so deb is like it could be like one
[30:25] Speaker 2: hundred plus different men. I've bagged these loser pedophiles. I
[30:28] Speaker 2: don't have a personal life, so don't worry if I'm
[30:31] Speaker 2: not working. I holy follow leads on Vanessa's abduction, so
[30:34] Speaker 2: then Sonya fills her in. So basically, Deborah Messing's thirteen
[30:38] Speaker 2: year old sister, Vanessa went missing twenty five years ago.
[30:41] Speaker 2: It was Sonya's case. She's also been working on it
[30:43] Speaker 2: ever since, and all they found were bloody clothes and
[30:47] Speaker 2: knife cuts in her shirt and that is what it is,
[30:51] Speaker 2: and that's the backstray and that's why she hunts pedophiles.
[30:54] Speaker 2: So then Benson asks how this person knew the scarf
[30:56] Speaker 2: was special, and she goes, I talk about it all
[30:58] Speaker 2: the time.
[30:59] Speaker 4: It was my sister.
[31:00] Speaker 2: And so she's like on air talking about her lucky scarf,
[31:02] Speaker 2: Like what the fuck? I don't get that, but I
[31:05] Speaker 2: guess the people need to know, Like, I, what are
[31:08] Speaker 2: you doing? So then Benson asks Levers and then that
[31:14] Speaker 2: obviously is he a rivalry coded and so then okay,
[31:19] Speaker 2: so Lovers, Benson asks as she sits down as like
[31:22] Speaker 2: a basketball coach, like she puts her elbows on her thighs,
[31:25] Speaker 2: like you know, like she has a plan to a
[31:27] Speaker 2: plan to talk a defensive zone. And so she has
[31:32] Speaker 2: sex with a journalist. She said, this is like the
[31:34] Speaker 2: funniest sense of all time. Put this on a shirt. Yeah,
[31:37] Speaker 2: I have sex with a journalist covering the Afghan drug trade.
[31:40] Speaker 2: It's casual, he's overseas, Like does he cover.
[31:43] Speaker 1: The trade in Afghanistan? Like I had I didn't know
[31:48] Speaker 1: that was a big thing.
[31:49] Speaker 4: Yeah, black tar, heroin and opium and stuff like that.
[31:51] Speaker 1: I think of Afghanistan. I never even thought about that.
[31:55] Speaker 1: That's not where.
[31:56] Speaker 2: But also it's like how many reports do we need?
[31:59] Speaker 2: Like I is he under I don't.
[32:01] Speaker 1: He's in bed.
[32:04] Speaker 2: Big on vacation, so crazy a journalist covering the Afghan
[32:09] Speaker 2: drug trade. It's casual, okay, So I just I'm obsessed,
[32:13] Speaker 2: So fired anyone? And she goes, well, not in the
[32:16] Speaker 2: last six months, but she's happy to give all the
[32:18] Speaker 2: personnel files. She's like, but that's a waste of time,
[32:21] Speaker 2: and Benson goes, Okay, this can't be a stranger, Like
[32:24] Speaker 2: I know, you think it's just like some looney tune
[32:26] Speaker 2: out in the world. But they know your routine, they
[32:28] Speaker 2: know about your lucky scarf, they know your house, like
[32:31] Speaker 2: it's someone that knows you. And Dev goes, great, so
[32:34] Speaker 2: is it someone I trust? Because that's basically nobody Okay, Okay,
[32:37] Speaker 2: she has nothing in her life, so they keep like,
[32:41] Speaker 2: I just like can't so they keep asking her questions.
[32:45] Speaker 4: She keeps being annoyed.
[32:46] Speaker 2: But it's like you investigate pedophiles, like, let these guys
[32:49] Speaker 2: also investigate, like you know, there's answers. So this person
[32:52] Speaker 2: got into your personal email girl, like who could get
[32:55] Speaker 2: into your email? And again I wrote she looks extra
[32:57] Speaker 2: hot in this episode, like I don't know what is
[32:59] Speaker 2: going on. So that Benson meets Kragan and Finn outside
[33:02] Speaker 2: the spy window and the blood they tested it, it's
[33:05] Speaker 2: human and it's no more than two days old. Craigan goes,
[33:08] Speaker 2: that's a splash she treated what a threat?
[33:11] Speaker 4: Okay, that makes worth this.
[33:13] Speaker 2: Gregan goes, that's a splashy threat and Benson's like, what
[33:17] Speaker 2: are you trying to say? And he says, Alisia Harding
[33:20] Speaker 2: doesn't report the news. She makes it Papa Papa. So
[33:24] Speaker 2: Benson goes, oh, you think she made it up? And
[33:26] Speaker 2: he's like, emails were sent from a bogus IP and
[33:28] Speaker 2: it wouldn't be the first time a reporter played games
[33:30] Speaker 2: for attention, and Benson's like, I just don't think she
[33:32] Speaker 2: would fuck up her sister's scarf like that, like it's
[33:35] Speaker 2: the only thing she cares about. And then Hank Chen
[33:38] Speaker 2: is sitting talking to a cop in the precinct, so
[33:40] Speaker 2: he's got a lot to say. And the person who
[33:43] Speaker 2: handed the pa the package is a fake cop, so
[33:46] Speaker 2: like there was someone that blended in with the real cops, like,
[33:48] Speaker 2: who's this fake cop? Who is this Stabler's training at Quantico?
[33:52] Speaker 2: What is happening if they send anyone to Quantico. I
[33:55] Speaker 2: don't think it would be saying, like I don't even
[33:57] Speaker 2: think he reads on his off time, Like I don't know.
[33:59] Speaker 1: He was shooting a movie or something maybe, Like it's
[34:01] Speaker 1: weird that he would be gone and then he comes
[34:03] Speaker 1: back halfway through the episode. Yeah, I don't know.
[34:05] Speaker 4: I was gonna just look up, like what episode was
[34:07] Speaker 4: right before it?
[34:08] Speaker 2: But whatever, So he's gonna analyze the emails. They send
[34:11] Speaker 2: all the emails to him, and he's gonna use his
[34:13] Speaker 2: Quantico stuff to like do that. Yeah.
[34:16] Speaker 1: No, The episode before this is called Spectacle. It's the
[34:20] Speaker 1: one where all my friend's actually in this episode. It's
[34:22] Speaker 1: the one where there's a sexual assault on videotape and
[34:25] Speaker 1: it's like going on a campus, a college campus feed
[34:29] Speaker 1: and all the kids are watching it. It's like more
[34:30] Speaker 1: Kitty genevese stuff like why didn't anybody call anybody?
[34:33] Speaker 4: They all just watched this live stream attack happen.
[34:36] Speaker 2: Well, and the episode after this, after Pursuit, is actually Bully,
[34:41] Speaker 2: our first episode we had ever did I know?
[34:44] Speaker 1: Oh, but I I could be wrong, but maybe the
[34:46] Speaker 1: reason that he goes to Quantico is from this whole
[34:50] Speaker 1: live streaming aspect where he's like, there's gonna be a
[34:53] Speaker 1: way to shut it down.
[34:54] Speaker 4: We got to know more about how these things work.
[34:56] Speaker 1: Whatever. That could be like the launch pad for why
[34:59] Speaker 1: he's at Quantico. But I could be wrong. I'm sure
[35:01] Speaker 1: the listeners will let me know.
[35:04] Speaker 2: So they have to go to her apartment finally, like
[35:07] Speaker 2: why didn't we do this from the beginning.
[35:08] Speaker 4: So we go to the apartment.
[35:10] Speaker 2: Everyone's searching, and Finn goes check between the sheets just
[35:13] Speaker 2: in case he left us a nasty little gift, like okay.
[35:17] Speaker 4: Okay, I'm like, what the fuck? All right?
[35:20] Speaker 2: So they found panties in the sink, all chlorined up,
[35:23] Speaker 2: so we probably like jerked off into those for century. No,
[35:28] Speaker 2: And there's a shrine to her sister. It's very intense.
[35:30] Speaker 2: And then there's a black binder right on the desk
[35:32] Speaker 2: and it's all the evidence files, papers, lab reports, crime
[35:36] Speaker 2: scene photos, everything, And Benson's like, how the fuck did
[35:38] Speaker 2: she get evidence to an open murder? I have one guess,
[35:41] Speaker 2: and it's Sonya boozhound Packston That's who I think.
[35:43] Speaker 1: So then she's in recovery. She is in recovery. I
[35:47] Speaker 1: am the number one Sonya Paxton apologists. Finn has the
[35:51] Speaker 1: same idea as me.
[35:52] Speaker 2: He's like, it's probably boozhound, and then Benson's like, maybe
[35:55] Speaker 2: he left a print on one of these pages. But
[35:57] Speaker 2: also it's like, is it a pedophile? What's happening? It
[36:00] Speaker 2: doesn't seem like it's the same person. And Finn and
[36:03] Speaker 2: Benson are like, well, maybe the FEDS have some idea
[36:05] Speaker 2: on who this could be. So now we have an
[36:06] Speaker 2: FBI FaceTime with Stabler. He's on a big screen and
[36:09] Speaker 2: this is He goes, it's the worst kind of stalker.
[36:12] Speaker 2: He's smart, he's resourceful, he's experienced. This is a hardcore predator.
[36:17] Speaker 2: And they don't get off on stalking like he's gonna
[36:19] Speaker 2: show himself soon or talk to someone else if he
[36:22] Speaker 2: can't get Alicia. And then Stabler and Finn get competitive
[36:25] Speaker 2: over Olivia and Finn goes, I'm better than you. I
[36:27] Speaker 2: actually watch her back, not her backside, and then hangs
[36:30] Speaker 2: up on Stabler.
[36:32] Speaker 1: That is wild to me that there's such a like outward.
[36:35] Speaker 1: He's married, he has four kids at this point, five
[36:38] Speaker 1: kids at this point. Why are you just outwardly being
[36:42] Speaker 1: like you want to fuck her, like a.
[36:44] Speaker 2: Scu precinct saying you stare at your coworker's ass in
[36:48] Speaker 2: front of her.
[36:49] Speaker 4: She's there right when he says it, Yes, it's weird.
[36:53] Speaker 4: It's weird.
[36:54] Speaker 1: You maybe would say that to him at the bar
[36:55] Speaker 1: after work when she's not there, right, yeah, thank you,
[36:59] Speaker 1: thank you, yeah, because my okay.
[37:02] Speaker 2: So I definitely claw. I definitely was like that's weird.
[37:04] Speaker 2: So that then they look at you know, you know,
[37:06] Speaker 2: the purpse, the look he lose. They're all around, so
[37:08] Speaker 2: they're looking at all the crime and street photos and
[37:11] Speaker 2: they see one face over and over and over, and
[37:13] Speaker 2: it's a man named Scott Laski.
[37:15] Speaker 4: He's an IT engineer, ding ding ding emails.
[37:17] Speaker 2: Benson stands up and Finn already had unis pick him up,
[37:21] Speaker 2: and he's in cement room bars.
[37:23] Speaker 4: He's smug.
[37:24] Speaker 2: This blondel this is the blonde on blonde so it's
[37:26] Speaker 2: blonde hair, blonde face, blondebeard, angry little face and he's like,
[37:31] Speaker 2: I'm invoking and they're like, you're not under a rest, babe.
[37:34] Speaker 2: And then basically he's mad. He knows the truth doesn't
[37:36] Speaker 2: fucking matter. The prosecutors drop the pedagal case because he's
[37:40] Speaker 2: not gonna rape a minor. He is not a pedophile.
[37:42] Speaker 2: This is a mistake. It's ruined his life. And she
[37:44] Speaker 2: goes yeah, yeah, yeah, and then they're like, and you
[37:49] Speaker 2: want to fuck Alicia Harding and he's and you know technology,
[37:53] Speaker 2: and he calls her Peaches, which is crazy to me.
[37:55] Speaker 2: So he calls Benson peaches. I mean this episode, the
[37:59] Speaker 2: quotes of the s took me out. I was like, Peaches,
[38:02] Speaker 2: what that was.
[38:05] Speaker 1: Wild?
[38:06] Speaker 2: Whatever? He's a creep, he's pissed, he was set up.
[38:08] Speaker 2: He knows computers. He calls her Peaches and goes, come
[38:12] Speaker 2: back with my lawyers here. So now Craigan needs to
[38:14] Speaker 2: know why the charges are dropped. And then Finn pops
[38:17] Speaker 2: up going and I got an answer. He has a
[38:19] Speaker 2: friend at a network, so I don't know how he
[38:20] Speaker 2: met his network television friend, but.
[38:24] Speaker 4: They pulled the raw footage for him. So this is crazy.
[38:27] Speaker 2: So this blonde man is at the door and it's
[38:30] Speaker 2: He goes, it's late, where are your parents? I can't
[38:32] Speaker 2: believe you're alone here? And the girl's begging. She's like,
[38:35] Speaker 2: come fuck me, come party. I'm like a child, slut right,
[38:38] Speaker 2: like she is being so heavy handed, and he's like,
[38:42] Speaker 2: she's like, dude, to me, what you said on the internet.
[38:44] Speaker 2: And the blond guy goes, what someone's coming over here.
[38:47] Speaker 2: You have to call the police.
[38:49] Speaker 4: She goes, what for. He goes, I read your emails.
[38:52] Speaker 2: You cannot tell men you'll get naked and that they
[38:55] Speaker 2: could touch you.
[38:56] Speaker 4: You're gonna be get me in trouble. Please call the police.
[38:59] Speaker 2: And then we see the episode that they aired, the
[39:02] Speaker 2: version they aired, and it's cut up, and basically he's
[39:04] Speaker 2: excited and she goes and he goes, you're alone, get naked.
[39:08] Speaker 4: My god, you're asking for it.
[39:10] Speaker 2: So so it's very Homer bad Man episode, and so
[39:16] Speaker 2: they like cut it up and he was just truly
[39:18] Speaker 2: trying to help her, and Sonia goes, whatever he deserved it,
[39:22] Speaker 2: Fuck him, Fuck him, he should have gone to the cops.
[39:25] Speaker 2: And Finn goes, what the fuck, bitch, like your friend
[39:28] Speaker 2: doctored the footage and Sonya's being such a dumb bitch
[39:31] Speaker 2: and oh it wasn't.
[39:32] Speaker 4: Hey, you're wasting your time this.
[39:34] Speaker 1: And that I literally had to look and see if
[39:37] Speaker 1: this was and I know how this episode turns out,
[39:41] Speaker 1: but for a second, because of all.
[39:42] Speaker 4: This, I was like, is she still drinking?
[39:45] Speaker 1: Like there's a part where her eyes are super red
[39:48] Speaker 1: and she's being such a dick.
[39:49] Speaker 4: I'm like, why are you being such a dick? Are
[39:51] Speaker 4: you drinking again?
[39:52] Speaker 1: Like? And then I and then I realized that I thought,
[39:56] Speaker 1: is this not? Is she drinking again? Is this the
[39:58] Speaker 1: episodes where she's a drunk still? I didn't realize it was.
[40:02] Speaker 1: And then I'm like, of course not, because it's you know,
[40:04] Speaker 1: we know what happens, but.
[40:06] Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, but she's just being annoying. And
[40:09] Speaker 2: then Kragan's like, well, we need to find them. Who
[40:12] Speaker 2: is the right person? And it could be now all
[40:14] Speaker 2: these people she framed and the suspect pool just got deeper,
[40:18] Speaker 2: Benson says, and then dramatic music plays, so he got
[40:21] Speaker 2: Hashi Horowitz.
[40:22] Speaker 4: He's clocking in.
[40:23] Speaker 2: There's a back and forth, and the blonde will not
[40:25] Speaker 2: like leave until he's reassured that the cops are going
[40:27] Speaker 2: to leave him the fuck alone. And then his wife
[40:29] Speaker 2: left him. He can't even hang out with his twelve
[40:31] Speaker 2: year old daughter. He can't see her, like it sucks,
[40:34] Speaker 2: and they're like we saw both versions, and Benson's like okay,
[40:38] Speaker 2: but why didn't you call the cops and has She's like,
[40:40] Speaker 2: he did, he tried, he look into it, he went
[40:43] Speaker 2: to the precinct, he helped people.
[40:44] Speaker 4: He goes, I have a kid. I was worried about
[40:46] Speaker 4: the Internet.
[40:47] Speaker 2: I saw all this stuff happening, so I hacked it
[40:49] Speaker 2: and I found it, and then I took all of
[40:51] Speaker 2: this stuff and I took it.
[40:53] Speaker 4: To the cops.
[40:53] Speaker 2: Like he did everything he could, and so he hacked
[40:58] Speaker 2: the server and then hash She's like, shut the fuck up.
[41:00] Speaker 2: But basically he's like looking, he's seeing these conversations happen.
[41:04] Speaker 2: He doesn't like it. And then Sonya goes, okay, well
[41:06] Speaker 2: he should have followed the law. Then he shouldn't be hacking.
[41:09] Speaker 2: And it's like, for the love of God, shut the
[41:11] Speaker 2: fuck up, and he goes, I just didn't want that
[41:13] Speaker 2: girl getting raped, and then he walked into the precinct,
[41:16] Speaker 2: gave the message board logs to the desk sergeant, and
[41:20] Speaker 2: the desk sergeant was just like, okay, whatever, I don't care.
[41:23] Speaker 2: So then finally he went to the house and knocked,
[41:25] Speaker 2: and that's what happened. So the cops flopped and then
[41:27] Speaker 2: Finn's now talking to the seven two precinct to find
[41:29] Speaker 2: out if this, you know, corroborate the story, and Sonya's like,
[41:32] Speaker 2: you're not blaming Alicia for this, are you? And it's like, yeah,
[41:34] Speaker 2: you dumb bitch, we certainly are. Benson goes, you're too
[41:37] Speaker 2: close to the case. You're too close. It's been decades.
[41:40] Speaker 2: You need to zoom out, lady, and she goes, I
[41:42] Speaker 2: don't care if you think I gave her information and
[41:44] Speaker 2: it's wrong. I don't care. I'll give her anything I want,
[41:46] Speaker 2: we need. This is all I care about too. So
[41:49] Speaker 2: then Paxton goes, I mean this is like her new
[41:51] Speaker 2: addiction instead of alcohol, Like get a fucking life. So
[41:53] Speaker 2: then Paxton goes low, this is great. This episode's actually
[41:58] Speaker 2: crazy and I don't want you enough. I really don't
[42:00] Speaker 2: ever watched this episode ever. So Paxson goes low and goes,
[42:04] Speaker 2: tell me, how long did you search for the man
[42:06] Speaker 2: who raped your mother? H Craigan and Benson are stuns silence,
[42:12] Speaker 2: like neither of them say anything, and then Finn breaks
[42:14] Speaker 2: the tension. The desk sergeant corroborates the Blondeard story, and
[42:19] Speaker 2: so they're gonna avoid the arrests. They they're gonna wake
[42:21] Speaker 2: up Alicia and see what's up. And Sonya's mouth open
[42:24] Speaker 2: shocked that this is happening, and it's like, no, you're
[42:26] Speaker 2: all really twisted. Benson goes to the office where her
[42:29] Speaker 2: assistant's like, hey, I got you your new apartment keys.
[42:33] Speaker 2: Who wants copies and Benson goes, nobody, you dumb bitch.
[42:36] Speaker 2: The apartment is off limits, Like give nobody these keys,
[42:38] Speaker 2: and so Rachel's like, oh my god, and then leaves
[42:40] Speaker 2: Benson and Alicia chatting. So then Benson asks who else
[42:44] Speaker 2: has keys to your place? She says staff, hair, makeup,
[42:47] Speaker 2: wardrobe assistant. Benson's like, I need names. She goes, no,
[42:50] Speaker 2: fuck you, and she's like I need names of everyone that.
[42:53] Speaker 4: Could have the keys. Who works for you, who knows you?
[42:56] Speaker 2: All the men that you rail roaded into prison and
[42:58] Speaker 2: she goes, that was one minut sake one Scott. There's
[43:01] Speaker 2: no others, and it's like Benson's like, there could be others.
[43:04] Speaker 2: And she also is like she was not aware of
[43:07] Speaker 2: the edit and network wanted a record number of arrests.
[43:09] Speaker 2: She didn't know they did it behind her back, and
[43:12] Speaker 2: then she fired the producer six months ago.
[43:14] Speaker 4: Who did it?
[43:15] Speaker 2: Who like put it together without her knowledge, like she
[43:17] Speaker 2: would have never done that, and so Benson wants to
[43:20] Speaker 2: talk to him. So they go see Donnie Spencer and
[43:22] Speaker 2: she goes, yeah, he's not a big fan of me
[43:24] Speaker 2: since I fired him, And Benson goes, yeah, you seem
[43:27] Speaker 2: to have that effect on everybody. So like, no one
[43:30] Speaker 2: likes Deborah Messing. Pedophiles and cops and lawyers and her family, like,
[43:34] Speaker 2: no one likes her. No one likes her. So now
[43:37] Speaker 2: Donnie Spencer, he looks unemployed for sure. It's so slacker.
[43:40] Speaker 2: And he says that she told him to doctor the
[43:42] Speaker 2: footage and he did her a favor and then got canned.
[43:45] Speaker 2: He denies stalking. He calls her a whore. She says uh,
[43:49] Speaker 2: he goes whatever, So I send a few emails like
[43:51] Speaker 2: who gives a shit, and so they arrest him so
[43:55] Speaker 2: that they bring him to the precinct and put him
[43:57] Speaker 2: in the center like cell. So then Benson's like, I
[44:00] Speaker 2: got the stalker. I got the stalker. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
[44:02] Speaker 2: and Craigan goes inaw, girl, Alicia just brought in another
[44:05] Speaker 2: email and attached to it as a body dump of
[44:07] Speaker 2: a young girl. Benson stunned so that but then also
[44:12] Speaker 2: so this guy just sent the emails. He didn't do
[44:13] Speaker 2: the you know the rest of the stuff. So the
[44:15] Speaker 2: photo is like, it's dead weeds, a broken swing, and
[44:19] Speaker 2: a dead woman in the snow. And then Stabler on
[44:21] Speaker 2: a video call is back being like, hey, this dump
[44:23] Speaker 2: actually looks like a dump in Maryland and the and
[44:26] Speaker 2: the body is real. And then Alicia walks in and
[44:28] Speaker 2: Stabler's like, cough, cough, civilian, should we even talk about
[44:31] Speaker 2: it in front of her? And Sonya goes, yeah, of course, duh,
[44:34] Speaker 2: She's my everything. And so then so he goes the
[44:38] Speaker 2: purpose Associo. She just deals with teachers, that diddle like
[44:42] Speaker 2: he takes one class a quantico and now he's not
[44:45] Speaker 2: part of the sex police.
[44:47] Speaker 4: So then so then.
[44:48] Speaker 2: Deborah Messing goes, does knowing the dead girl's location, get
[44:50] Speaker 2: me a seat at the table. This is the last
[44:53] Speaker 2: place my sister was seen alive. She interviewed a woman
[44:56] Speaker 2: who saw Vanessa in this part, and Sonya goes, you
[44:58] Speaker 2: never told me, and she she screams it's a cold case.
[45:01] Speaker 2: Nobody else is working this, and Sonya goes, bitch, I've
[45:04] Speaker 2: been chasing after this bastard for a long time, and
[45:07] Speaker 2: she screams, where is he? So she thinks who killed
[45:10] Speaker 2: her sister is stalking her. They all go, no, it's
[45:12] Speaker 2: not the same guy. FBI thinks the guy is thirties forties,
[45:16] Speaker 2: which means too young to kill Vanessa. So then Deborah
[45:20] Speaker 2: Messing goes, spare me. The DC sniper had to be
[45:23] Speaker 2: white and alone. Right, you've never got the Zodiac. Ted
[45:26] Speaker 2: Bundy was fourteen at his first kill. Your analysis don't know, Dick.
[45:31] Speaker 2: I mean it's hit after hit, Like, I don't who
[45:33] Speaker 2: wrote this episode? Like, I'm kind of obsessed.
[45:37] Speaker 4: What is it called?
[45:38] Speaker 2: Oh?
[45:38] Speaker 1: You know who wrote it? Judy McCreery. Wow, wait, is
[45:42] Speaker 1: that who we're talking to? We're talking to her? I
[45:44] Speaker 1: noticed the written by credit for her.
[45:46] Speaker 2: Oh my god, you guys, this is how or I
[45:49] Speaker 2: didn't know, but that's how excited I was.
[45:51] Speaker 4: I can't.
[45:51] Speaker 2: We were talking who wrote this? This is the best
[45:53] Speaker 2: episode I've ever read.
[45:55] Speaker 4: I'm obsessed.
[45:58] Speaker 2: Judy, Judy, Judy, Yoh wow? Your analysts don't know, Dick.
[46:04] Speaker 2: Like fun Craigan goes tell us for the park is,
[46:06] Speaker 2: she goes, you either go with me or you're not
[46:08] Speaker 2: going alone.
[46:09] Speaker 4: I'm fucking going there.
[46:10] Speaker 2: So they all go there and then they like every
[46:12] Speaker 2: single person, every cop has to tell her to stand by,
[46:15] Speaker 2: stand right here, stand right here. You can't do this,
[46:17] Speaker 2: give me your phone, locking her away, like please do
[46:21] Speaker 2: not fuck with our crime scenes. Finn finds the body
[46:24] Speaker 2: and then Sonia's like, okay, I'm gonna call the Stanton
[46:26] Speaker 2: Island DA and then Benson starts raking through the snow
[46:29] Speaker 2: with a stick, which is like psychotic to me.
[46:31] Speaker 4: As well.
[46:32] Speaker 2: She finds another body. They're like, okay, we gotta call Warner.
[46:35] Speaker 2: Third body. They need kidaver dogs, forensic, whole fucking team,
[46:37] Speaker 2: let's do this. So also does nobody go to this
[46:40] Speaker 2: park ever, Like, there's five white female bodies, it.
[46:45] Speaker 1: Is snowing, it's the middle of winter.
[46:46] Speaker 2: But we find out some of these have been here
[46:48] Speaker 2: for years and months, Like what are we talking about.
[46:50] Speaker 4: Oh yeah, no one's.
[46:52] Speaker 1: At that part crazy.
[46:54] Speaker 4: That is crazy.
[46:54] Speaker 2: Some woman saw Vanessa here but no one saw her. Yeah,
[46:58] Speaker 2: so whatever, five white female I was mid teens to
[47:00] Speaker 2: mid twenties, varying stage of decomp three months to two
[47:03] Speaker 2: years homicide but undetermined means three days ago. There's one
[47:07] Speaker 2: three wounds six inch deep, stabbed in chest, stomach, back,
[47:10] Speaker 2: Sonia says, whips her head around as she says it, and.
[47:13] Speaker 4: Warner goes, WHOA, how'd you know that?
[47:15] Speaker 2: She goes, those were Vanessa's stabbings, So copycat or same guy? Oh,
[47:19] Speaker 2: I got to use copycat for a Sigourney Weaver movie
[47:21] Speaker 2: Grid Game this week. Nice if I'm exciting. It felt exciting.
[47:26] Speaker 2: So then yeah, and I do Baby Mama for her,
[47:28] Speaker 2: like I fucking I get yes.
[47:30] Speaker 4: I forget she's in Baby Mama.
[47:32] Speaker 1: It's like the old like late Oh my god.
[47:35] Speaker 4: So funny.
[47:35] Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, yeah, so but I'm glad I watched Copycat.
[47:39] Speaker 2: So anyway, So paralyzed okay, this is what I wrote.
[47:42] Speaker 2: Fuck paralyzed chest down during attack, so whatever that means
[47:46] Speaker 2: to you.
[47:47] Speaker 4: Now, she was raped repeatedly.
[47:50] Speaker 1: They said that when he stabbed her first, she was
[47:53] Speaker 1: paralyzed in the attack, raped repeated, no fluids, then stabbed along.
[48:00] Speaker 2: No trace, but the blows were precise. He knew what
[48:03] Speaker 2: he was doing and he has police and forensic knowledge.
[48:07] Speaker 2: Benson goes to give support to Sonya, like, damn, sorry, girl,
[48:10] Speaker 2: this is a lot. This feels like deja vu, and
[48:12] Speaker 2: she just wants to solve it so bad, and Benson's like,
[48:14] Speaker 2: don't worry, We're gonna do it. And but it's like
[48:18] Speaker 2: they both have the same vibe towards justice in cases.
[48:20] Speaker 2: So it's like Benson might be annoyed by Sonia, but
[48:23] Speaker 2: at the end of the day, spiritually they're aligned. So
[48:26] Speaker 2: she cries about being sober, and it's like, girl, I
[48:28] Speaker 2: get it. I don't want to be sober, so that
[48:30] Speaker 2: sucks for you. They argue about Alicia again. Yeah, like,
[48:35] Speaker 2: once you find five dead bodies, you'd want to have
[48:37] Speaker 2: a beer, right.
[48:38] Speaker 1: Yeah, that's the thing. You gotta figure out how to
[48:41] Speaker 1: take the edge off when you work in a traumatic
[48:44] Speaker 1: field like this. But I don't know how you do that.
[48:49] Speaker 2: I'm doing classic bad girl vibes. I'm like, so nauseous
[48:52] Speaker 2: because I've just been chugging diet coke, I mean chugging
[48:55] Speaker 2: iced coffees, empty stomachs, smoking weed. It's two thirty PM
[48:59] Speaker 2: and I am nauseous, but I'm gonna have but I'm
[49:03] Speaker 2: gonna have Keeso Fundido at five, so I'm waiting.
[49:06] Speaker 4: I'm waiting it out.
[49:08] Speaker 1: I love that sounds so good.
[49:11] Speaker 2: So there arguing about Alisha again. I was like, what
[49:13] Speaker 2: was the last lead? So basically three months ago, she
[49:16] Speaker 2: appealed to the public for the whereabouts of a kid
[49:18] Speaker 2: who found Vanessa's clothing because she wanted to do an
[49:21] Speaker 2: interview for the twenty fifth anniversary of the death with
[49:23] Speaker 2: this little boy whatever. But they're like, the cops probably
[49:26] Speaker 2: talked to him, right, And Sonya goes, no, there's no
[49:28] Speaker 2: names in the files. There were, but there were so
[49:30] Speaker 2: many volunteers that helped to find her. There's just tons
[49:33] Speaker 2: of people. And Benson goes, fuck, if there's like all
[49:36] Speaker 2: these volunteers that are eager, there's probably an excited killer.
[49:39] Speaker 2: That's all there there too as well. The killer is there.
[49:42] Speaker 2: So then so Benson wants the volunteer sign in sheets,
[49:46] Speaker 2: and she's like, let's compare all the witness statements and
[49:48] Speaker 2: see if there's a match. So that everyone's working really
[49:51] Speaker 2: hot hard, everyone's working hard.
[49:54] Speaker 1: Where I can haead you know, I've.
[49:57] Speaker 2: Been thinking about the Matt Damon ben Affleck thing that
[49:59] Speaker 2: you brought up to me. Oh yes, or like a
[50:01] Speaker 2: few times ago or whatever, Yeah, because I really can't decide.
[50:05] Speaker 1: It's so funny that it's such an existent, it's such
[50:07] Speaker 1: a such a but.
[50:09] Speaker 4: The they go down.
[50:10] Speaker 2: But it's also like such a classic pairing, and of
[50:13] Speaker 2: course people have been talking about this for decades. Yeah,
[50:16] Speaker 2: never crossed my mind to do an either or with
[50:18] Speaker 2: these boys. So that's why I'm also a little shocked
[50:22] Speaker 2: where I was like, why was I not part of
[50:24] Speaker 2: this conversation?
[50:26] Speaker 1: Yeah? Ever, Yeah, I feel like I've talked to a
[50:31] Speaker 1: lot of people about this before.
[50:33] Speaker 4: What's your prep? Are you a Damon or an Affleck?
[50:35] Speaker 1: You know?
[50:36] Speaker 2: I think, Yeah, I'm just like, I'm looking at the
[50:38] Speaker 2: Dogma photos right now.
[50:40] Speaker 1: Yeah, Dogma.
[50:41] Speaker 4: I loved when they were in those movies.
[50:43] Speaker 2: I know, I I bet they fucked people together. I
[50:48] Speaker 2: want to know the lucky people who got to be
[50:50] Speaker 2: in a threesome with them.
[50:52] Speaker 4: Probably a few girls that are like, do you think
[50:54] Speaker 4: Gwenneth fucked both of them?
[50:56] Speaker 1: I don't know that Like doesn't feel like it's Matt
[50:58] Speaker 1: Damon's style. That feels like something that Affleck would do.
[51:02] Speaker 2: I think Matt Damon would would fuck Gwyneth Paltrow with
[51:06] Speaker 2: Ben Affleck. You're crazy to think Matt Damon's on some
[51:08] Speaker 2: like higher plane of living.
[51:10] Speaker 4: I don't know.
[51:11] Speaker 1: I don't think he's a I don't think it's a
[51:12] Speaker 1: higher plane of living. It's like he's like a he
[51:14] Speaker 1: seems like just like a moral like aw shucks kind
[51:18] Speaker 1: of guy, like married a bartender that he struck up
[51:20] Speaker 1: a conversation with and like adopted her daughter. Like I
[51:23] Speaker 1: don't know, he doesn't seem like he's like, hey, should
[51:25] Speaker 1: we rail your girlfriend together? Like I don't know. I'm
[51:28] Speaker 1: not getting that from Matt Damon. But I don't think
[51:31] Speaker 1: it's like a moral higher plane or anything. I just
[51:33] Speaker 1: I'm not getting it. But of course, I think given
[51:36] Speaker 1: the opportunity, most people would fuck Winneth Paltrow.
[51:38] Speaker 2: But like, especially in the nineties, they were having the
[51:41] Speaker 2: best time.
[51:44] Speaker 4: They were all ride and high, they were famous, no
[51:46] Speaker 4: cell phones, just smoking cigarettes.
[51:51] Speaker 2: Yeah, indoors, they were smoking cigarettes in the club. Uh,
[52:01] Speaker 2: all right, I don't even remember where we are. What
[52:03] Speaker 2: are we talking about. I have to find the volunteer
[52:05] Speaker 2: sign the volunteer sign in sheets. That's where we are.
[52:08] Speaker 2: We're at the sign in sheets. Craigan goes, why was
[52:11] Speaker 2: nobody doing this work until now? And it's like, maybe
[52:13] Speaker 2: it's these new dead bodies we found, Like what are
[52:15] Speaker 2: you talking about? Why now? Because there was a bloody
[52:18] Speaker 2: scarf like fuck? But also why did Donnie Spencer confess,
[52:23] Speaker 2: and Benson goes, he just sent threatening emails that said
[52:26] Speaker 2: I'm watching you and picks of her and close arranged photos.
[52:28] Speaker 2: So basically they're saying, whatever, this other killer guy got
[52:32] Speaker 2: into the email, saw the threats and then decided to
[52:35] Speaker 2: like use that as the cover to go to this
[52:38] Speaker 2: to the house and like look through the murder book.
[52:40] Speaker 2: And Craigan goes, well, no, why not kill her then,
[52:42] Speaker 2: and Benson goes, well, that would be too much attention.
[52:44] Speaker 2: He can't afford to kill like a popular journalist. By popular,
[52:48] Speaker 2: I mean well no, not well liked. And then Cragan
[52:50] Speaker 2: is like, come on, wait, so they're saying a guy.
[52:55] Speaker 1: They're saying Donnie Spencer was just sending her threatening shit
[52:59] Speaker 1: just to fuck with her, Yeah, because he doesn't like Okay,
[53:01] Speaker 1: but then the stalker breaks into her computer, sees that
[53:05] Speaker 1: and kind of uses that as like a cover for Okay,
[53:08] Speaker 1: got it, got it, got it.
[53:09] Speaker 2: And then Craigan goes, yeah, but attention he led us
[53:11] Speaker 2: to the body dumb and Fim goes, yeah, but murder
[53:14] Speaker 2: Trump's stalking, so you know, and Benson goes, Okay, all
[53:17] Speaker 2: of you shut the fuck up.
[53:18] Speaker 4: We focus on Alisha. We find the killer.
[53:20] Speaker 2: And then somebody on the show or out like it
[53:22] Speaker 2: asked me someone that like is part of the show
[53:25] Speaker 2: or has an outsider with access to it, like, we
[53:27] Speaker 2: need to figure stuff out. So they go back to
[53:29] Speaker 2: talk to Rachel, the assistant, and she's busy putting papers
[53:32] Speaker 2: on a desk, like so seriously zipping desk to desk,
[53:35] Speaker 2: and then she goes, you have to sign in photo ID,
[53:38] Speaker 2: temporary pass. Someone brings them like to the room and
[53:42] Speaker 2: there's no back doors. They all have alarms. It's front
[53:44] Speaker 2: door in, front door out. Benson goes, give me the
[53:46] Speaker 2: logs of six months. She goes, do you think the
[53:48] Speaker 2: killer came here? They go, who said anything about a killer?
[53:51] Speaker 2: And she goes, I mean, Alicia, she taped a message
[53:54] Speaker 2: to the to the killer yesterday. So now we're watching
[53:57] Speaker 2: it and you know she's talking about bodies, sister stabbing.
[54:00] Speaker 4: She talks directly to the camera.
[54:02] Speaker 2: She goes, your dick doesn't work, so that's why you
[54:04] Speaker 2: have to rape with a knife because you're pathetic.
[54:08] Speaker 4: Yeah, I wish I didn't get that visual.
[54:11] Speaker 2: Sonya's on the video looking worried and she's like, oh fuck,
[54:14] Speaker 2: and then she's like and then Deborah Messing's like, I
[54:16] Speaker 2: want to put him down like the rabid dog he is,
[54:19] Speaker 2: and she's just putting him out in bait. She's like,
[54:20] Speaker 2: you're a fucking loser. Your dick sucks, and go fuck yourself.
[54:25] Speaker 4: You have Yeah.
[54:26] Speaker 2: So then so it's a mess and the network's gonna
[54:29] Speaker 2: er it. They don't care. Craigan's like, please don't err it.
[54:31] Speaker 2: They're like wearing it. And then Craigan goes, how the
[54:33] Speaker 2: fuck did she even get footage from the crime scene,
[54:35] Speaker 2: and Benson screams, I took her phone and then but
[54:38] Speaker 2: then it's like, you know, she's a kooky bitch. So
[54:40] Speaker 2: it's either Packston helps her or like she had a
[54:43] Speaker 2: backup phone, Like, who fucking we know what it is.
[54:45] Speaker 2: She has a backup phone, So then now we need
[54:47] Speaker 2: to find Sonya. So then Alicia's on a white couch
[54:51] Speaker 2: chilling with a mug. She goes, I want my life back,
[54:53] Speaker 2: and Finn goes Finn's calls her stupid, and they're like, why.
[54:57] Speaker 4: Taunt to kill her like that, you stupid?
[55:00] Speaker 2: And then but she goes, well, something has to work
[55:02] Speaker 2: since the cops aren't working, and I want to, you know,
[55:04] Speaker 2: off get him off balance. I want him raging and
[55:08] Speaker 2: they're like, you're covering for Sonya. She goes, Sonya didn't
[55:11] Speaker 2: do anything. I had a backup camera in my pocket.
[55:13] Speaker 2: They're like, but Sonya's not answering her phone and she goes, listen,
[55:16] Speaker 2: she wanted to drink, so she went to a meeting.
[55:18] Speaker 4: Like what AA meeting?
[55:19] Speaker 2: So they rush to the AA meeting and they have
[55:20] Speaker 2: a photo of Sonia and they go have you seen
[55:22] Speaker 2: this woman?
[55:23] Speaker 4: And they're like, this is like anonymous, Like what.
[55:27] Speaker 3: That was?
[55:28] Speaker 2: I guess you haven't heard this is anonymous. But Sonya's
[55:31] Speaker 2: car is still outside. So then Benson goes to the
[55:33] Speaker 2: lady room. Lady's room. I guess everyone in AA no
[55:36] Speaker 2: one needs to pee. Sonia's bleeding out on the floor.
[55:38] Speaker 2: The mirror is broken, blood everywhere, throats, slit, cut.
[55:42] Speaker 4: Blood, blood, blood. They're get it, calling for a butz.
[55:45] Speaker 2: Benson's trying to hold her throat slit like as it bleeds,
[55:49] Speaker 2: she can't breathe. They lie to her say she's gonna
[55:51] Speaker 2: be okay. There's no fucking way.
[55:53] Speaker 1: Yeah, like a pretty loud AA meeting too. There's like
[55:55] Speaker 1: a full fucking struggle. She's lying on the floor bleeding out,
[55:58] Speaker 1: there's a smashed mirror, heard anything. We're in a church basement,
[56:02] Speaker 1: aren't we.
[56:02] Speaker 2: And it's like an hour long meeting, like no one
[56:04] Speaker 2: wants to pee before they have to get back on
[56:06] Speaker 2: the train.
[56:06] Speaker 4: I don't understand.
[56:08] Speaker 1: It is wild.
[56:10] Speaker 2: But then Sonya gets her last dying words out and
[56:13] Speaker 2: she says I got him and then dies in Benson's
[56:16] Speaker 2: bloody arms, and lap Sonya is dead, Benson is sad,
[56:20] Speaker 2: Finn just a furrowed brow.
[56:22] Speaker 4: I'm not sure what emotion he yah Sin's face though,
[56:25] Speaker 4: is really good here.
[56:26] Speaker 1: Her acting is she is fucking you can see. I mean,
[56:30] Speaker 1: she's seen a lot of shit, but this is like fuck.
[56:32] Speaker 1: This is like a woman that was kind of my friend,
[56:35] Speaker 1: like even though it was like a little bit love hate,
[56:37] Speaker 1: She's like this woman that I know just died in
[56:40] Speaker 1: my arms, Like fuck, like she's really.
[56:42] Speaker 2: We forget about this trauma because she's been trauma. So
[56:44] Speaker 2: I has so much Ben's say that we forget that
[56:46] Speaker 2: this was like pretty wild. I forgot she like dies
[56:48] Speaker 2: in her arms. So then Benson has like a thick
[56:51] Speaker 2: forehead vein it's throbbing, and then the cameras take a
[56:55] Speaker 2: photo of her dead body, and Melinda calls for Olivia
[56:57] Speaker 2: to get off the floor. She slowly peels herself up
[57:00] Speaker 2: and like you could tell she's been crying, and her
[57:01] Speaker 2: nose is a little red makeup department. You nailed it.
[57:05] Speaker 2: Blood loss was steady. So she bled out for a while,
[57:08] Speaker 2: and no one peede, no one went being thrown around.
[57:14] Speaker 1: Did the mirror break?
[57:15] Speaker 2: Like?
[57:16] Speaker 1: She asked Werner, I remember when I watched this like
[57:19] Speaker 1: live the first time. I was really sad because you
[57:22] Speaker 1: guys know, I love Sonya. I think she was having
[57:24] Speaker 1: a redemption and I felt like we could have had
[57:27] Speaker 1: her get attacked but saved, you know, like she could
[57:30] Speaker 1: have lived.
[57:31] Speaker 4: Maybe it was sweeps. Maybe it was sweet it was.
[57:34] Speaker 1: Sweeps sweep sweek. Oh my god.
[57:39] Speaker 2: All right, So she asked Warner if anything under her nails,
[57:42] Speaker 2: and Warner's like, well, I don't know yet, and she
[57:45] Speaker 2: says she said she got him. That means she got him,
[57:47] Speaker 2: and so she's like trying to figure it out, and
[57:49] Speaker 2: Melinda's like once she's on the table, and that really
[57:51] Speaker 2: like upsets Benson, like thinking about her friend being on
[57:53] Speaker 2: the like Morgue table, and then she goes, this place
[57:56] Speaker 2: is fucking trash. She worked hard, like she fought him.
[57:58] Speaker 2: She and then so it's like he grabbed her from behind.
[58:01] Speaker 2: Warner says, there's a smash phone in the sink. The
[58:03] Speaker 2: attack did not go as planned. She went down swinging.
[58:06] Speaker 2: He lost control and so she bit him. They're like,
[58:10] Speaker 2: she bit him. She knew she was going to die
[58:12] Speaker 2: and she bit him. So they're like, is their DNA.
[58:14] Speaker 2: There's a hair in the throat, so she's gonna swab
[58:17] Speaker 2: the mouth and then check her stomach for his blood.
[58:21] Speaker 2: This is some thorough investigating. So Stabler's there and runs
[58:26] Speaker 2: to hug her and she collapses into his arms. It's
[58:28] Speaker 2: pretty sexy for sure. I should have come back sooner,
[58:31] Speaker 2: he says. And she asks if he checked security logs
[58:34] Speaker 2: for the Hardings office, and he's like, well, that's all.
[58:36] Speaker 1: Can I just say? Also, I looked up some I
[58:39] Speaker 1: looked up something about this episode, like I had a
[58:41] Speaker 1: question about it, and I found this blog from like
[58:43] Speaker 1: the actual time period, and people were like talking about
[58:46] Speaker 1: the commercial for this episode was like really plugging that hug,
[58:50] Speaker 1: Like everybody like they were really getting the Olivia Elliott
[58:54] Speaker 1: shippers hot and bothered with this hug.
[58:58] Speaker 2: I will say that because I don't watch this episode,
[59:02] Speaker 2: I forgot about this, and it is probably one of
[59:05] Speaker 2: my favorite interactions I've ever had. She really falls into
[59:08] Speaker 2: his arms. Yeah, she's really upset. If I if this
[59:12] Speaker 2: came out and I watched it live and I was
[59:14] Speaker 2: right in the right moment, I could be a Benson
[59:16] Speaker 2: Stablershipper as well, but I'm not.
[59:20] Speaker 1: Yeah, but the commercials back in twenty eleven, they would.
[59:23] Speaker 2: Have gotten yeah, yeah, gotten me, to be honest, knowing
[59:27] Speaker 2: how I interact. It's so funny because I'm like obsessed
[59:29] Speaker 2: with you to rivalry obviously right now, and so like
[59:31] Speaker 2: people are like newer people in my life or like
[59:33] Speaker 2: if I'm out at a thing, or like, oh are
[59:35] Speaker 2: there other fandoms you like?
[59:36] Speaker 4: I go? Don't get me started.
[59:40] Speaker 1: I go.
[59:40] Speaker 2: Unfortunately, it's like one of ten things, like it never ends.
[59:45] Speaker 4: Yeah, but varied interests, but at least it's consistent.
[59:49] Speaker 2: Seeing the Backstreet Boys this year and then also in
[59:51] Speaker 2: nineteen ninety nine made me really be like, wow, girl,
[59:54] Speaker 2: you're living her inner child, and also.
[59:57] Speaker 1: With me in twenty twenty two, when do We Go
[1:00:01] Speaker 1: two twenty three.
[1:00:02] Speaker 4: I mean, was it not one of the best experiences
[1:00:04] Speaker 4: of your life.
[1:00:05] Speaker 1: It was great. It was so fun. It was so fun.
[1:00:08] Speaker 4: It was so fun.
[1:00:09] Speaker 1: I will say I really enjoyed our seats at that
[1:00:11] Speaker 1: I you know, we had nice seats, so I like,
[1:00:13] Speaker 1: I had a great time.
[1:00:14] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[1:00:15] Speaker 2: Yeah, because when I went thank you Biss, I was like, oh,
[1:00:18] Speaker 2: maybe they're not Maybe I'll sit in those seats again.
[1:00:21] Speaker 4: And I was like, well I'm sitting in the back.
[1:00:24] Speaker 2: No when you have to pay for those seats, definitely,
[1:00:26] Speaker 2: but yeah, it's just like they're so good.
[1:00:29] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, you love what you love.
[1:00:31] Speaker 4: But yeah, it's like, yeah, one of my interests is
[1:00:34] Speaker 4: a full podcast.
[1:00:35] Speaker 2: I'm holding out. Olivia Benson later like, ye what to
[1:00:38] Speaker 2: tell you? Thank God it's cop Ganda, So I don't
[1:00:43] Speaker 2: get it at tattooed on my body, but I would right.
[1:00:46] Speaker 2: She asks if he checked security logs for Harding's office,
[1:00:49] Speaker 2: and he's like, well, that's actually why it took me
[1:00:51] Speaker 2: so long to get here. I checked on every single
[1:00:53] Speaker 2: mail that checked in in the last six months. One
[1:00:56] Speaker 2: name rang a bell David Adams because he doesn't exist
[1:01:00] Speaker 2: a fucking ghosts and he only goes to see one person,
[1:01:03] Speaker 2: the assistant Rachel, And I will be honest. The moment
[1:01:06] Speaker 2: you see her, you know it's her, Like it took me,
[1:01:09] Speaker 2: like I wanted to. I wanted to maintain the integrity
[1:01:12] Speaker 2: of the episode for people that just listen to us.
[1:01:14] Speaker 2: I like suspense, I want I wanted to seem like
[1:01:16] Speaker 2: I didn't know, so I wanted to talk about it.
[1:01:19] Speaker 2: But it is obvious it is her from the moment
[1:01:21] Speaker 2: you see this bitch, is it not?
[1:01:23] Speaker 1: Yeah? Yeah, Well when you see her, yeah, you're like,
[1:01:27] Speaker 1: also yes, because you know why. She's a little bit
[1:01:31] Speaker 1: like more of a charactery actress than to just be
[1:01:34] Speaker 1: like yeah, you just check in at the beginning of
[1:01:36] Speaker 1: the day and you get a pass by, like there's
[1:01:38] Speaker 1: a certain actor that they hire for that kind of role,
[1:01:41] Speaker 1: and there's another actor that they're gonna hire to have
[1:01:42] Speaker 1: more of a role, and she just seemed like a
[1:01:44] Speaker 1: more of a role person. Does that make sense?
[1:01:47] Speaker 2: Yeah?
[1:01:48] Speaker 4: Oh wait, Okay.
[1:01:49] Speaker 1: Her name is Ashley Atkinson, and I looked he up
[1:01:52] Speaker 1: because I've seen her in a lot of stuff.
[1:01:54] Speaker 2: Well, she got one part I really wanted and I
[1:01:56] Speaker 2: felt like I could do better than her in it.
[1:01:58] Speaker 2: But that's like, but she's great and has a very
[1:02:00] Speaker 2: incredible career. So many credits like the bitch work.
[1:02:03] Speaker 1: Yeah, she's on the stumble right now, she's on Gilded Age.
[1:02:07] Speaker 4: She was in unjust like that. She's in everything. She works. Yeah,
[1:02:12] Speaker 4: she's working, so she works a lot.
[1:02:14] Speaker 1: But when I looked at her IMDb, I think this
[1:02:16] Speaker 1: is one of her first things. Like I think her
[1:02:18] Speaker 1: her SVU is like pretty early on in her career.
[1:02:21] Speaker 4: So well, no, actually I'm lying. She was working for
[1:02:24] Speaker 4: a long time before she did us.
[1:02:25] Speaker 2: Yeah, she is somebody else, a very successful working actor. Yeah,
[1:02:29] Speaker 2: I hope she owns property. So so the assistant her
[1:02:34] Speaker 2: name's Rachel. But because also being like I made keys
[1:02:37] Speaker 2: for everyone, it's like, okay, you're guilty. Yeah, Benson his
[1:02:42] Speaker 2: stun doesn't say a word. She just starts running. Stabler
[1:02:44] Speaker 2: walks the other way. So we have Rachel at the
[1:02:46] Speaker 2: priestingc she goes, no, no, no. David's like a really good guy.
[1:02:48] Speaker 2: We've been dating for months. And she's like and then
[1:02:51] Speaker 2: they're like, and you didn't sign him in all the time? Han,
[1:02:53] Speaker 2: She goes, it's not a big deal, it's my boyfriend.
[1:02:54] Speaker 2: And they're like, David's a con man, and she goes, no, no, no, no,
[1:02:58] Speaker 2: no no. Samba goes, oh, you think he's perfect, aren't you?
[1:03:00] Speaker 2: Or are you thinking right now of every moment he's
[1:03:02] Speaker 2: ever brought up Alicia? And then she starts to quiver,
[1:03:05] Speaker 2: and he's like, wasn't she a little too interested? Did
[1:03:07] Speaker 2: he use you? Was any of it real? And it's like,
[1:03:09] Speaker 2: can you be nicer to this? Like she's her life's fucked.
[1:03:14] Speaker 2: So she goes, I'm not a fool. But she's fully
[1:03:16] Speaker 2: crying at this point, but she goes, I am not
[1:03:18] Speaker 2: a fool. I can tell when I'm being played, and
[1:03:20] Speaker 2: he goes, Okay, maybe we're wrong, but only David can
[1:03:22] Speaker 2: straighten it out right, So like, where's David? And she goes, well,
[1:03:25] Speaker 2: he lives downtown and I've never been there. He's ashamed
[1:03:28] Speaker 2: of me day for months, he's ashamed of his place.
[1:03:31] Speaker 2: But she'll give him the address to where it is,
[1:03:34] Speaker 2: and Benson asks for the phone number, and she goes, well,
[1:03:37] Speaker 2: he doesn't even have a phone. And I offered to
[1:03:38] Speaker 2: buy him a phone, but he was too proud to
[1:03:40] Speaker 2: take it. And I liked that. So she smiles creepily.
[1:03:43] Speaker 2: This is getting sadder by every second. Every moment, yeah,
[1:03:46] Speaker 2: every moment, every detail is like oh aw, he calls
[1:03:51] Speaker 2: her and Jackson every day and they leave her in
[1:03:54] Speaker 2: woodroom blinds and then Benson goes, do you think she'll
[1:03:56] Speaker 2: call him?
[1:03:56] Speaker 4: And he's like duh.
[1:03:58] Speaker 2: They trace this cel phone immediately, office lines whatever she's
[1:04:01] Speaker 2: dialing out.
[1:04:02] Speaker 4: He's using a burn phone.
[1:04:04] Speaker 2: He's uptown near Riverside, near Alicia's place, So they're gonna
[1:04:07] Speaker 2: send her out a bait, which is like what she's
[1:04:09] Speaker 2: wanted this whole time. So she walks down that like
[1:04:11] Speaker 2: the bait she wanted. A guy in a black beanie
[1:04:14] Speaker 2: he comes up. She starts punching him. She calls him
[1:04:18] Speaker 2: a murdering bastard. He has a knife to her throat.
[1:04:20] Speaker 2: She's screaming shoot him, shoot him, and they have guns
[1:04:23] Speaker 2: on him. There's a taser on him. Alicia's screaming. He's
[1:04:26] Speaker 2: like charge, I'm in charge, I'm in charge, and Sailor
[1:04:29] Speaker 2: tells everyone to shut the fuck up. Alicia goes, I
[1:04:32] Speaker 2: want you alive, I want you to sit in the cage,
[1:04:34] Speaker 2: and then she tas and then Benson gets a tas
[1:04:36] Speaker 2: in so taser heavy episode.
[1:04:38] Speaker 1: It gets in the next they don't use tasers a lot.
[1:04:42] Speaker 1: They're tasing a lot in this episode.
[1:04:44] Speaker 2: But baby, let me tell you, I have a new
[1:04:45] Speaker 2: dream role and it's to get tased on SVU Like
[1:04:47] Speaker 2: I want to shake. I want to shake in that
[1:04:50] Speaker 2: bottom of the courtroom and someone's gaveling. I would love it.
[1:04:58] Speaker 2: So so he's in cement room bars obviously Adam Grafton
[1:05:02] Speaker 2: forty three physicians assistant.
[1:05:03] Speaker 4: That's how he has the like scalpel information.
[1:05:07] Speaker 1: Okay, can I say one thing? First of all, becoming
[1:05:09] Speaker 1: a physician's assistant is very difficult. It's really hard. PA's
[1:05:13] Speaker 1: like doctors. But also, what was this guy's plan? Like
[1:05:16] Speaker 1: broad daylight just following Alicia down the street and then
[1:05:19] Speaker 1: he was gonna like murder her in the street, Like
[1:05:21] Speaker 1: what was the plan? He like he got bucked up
[1:05:24] Speaker 1: because the cops showed up or she turned around, but like.
[1:05:27] Speaker 4: No, it was he lost.
[1:05:28] Speaker 1: He knew he was.
[1:05:29] Speaker 2: It was all caving in. Nothing mattered anymore because like
[1:05:33] Speaker 2: the sonya didn't go as planned, and.
[1:05:35] Speaker 1: He's been warned by his girlfriends. He knows there after him,
[1:05:38] Speaker 1: he's like, I got a killer. I got to get her,
[1:05:40] Speaker 1: Like yeah that's right, whale, Oh yeah, okay, Like I
[1:05:42] Speaker 1: think he's just losing it, okay, because I was like, what,
[1:05:44] Speaker 1: he's just walking down the street broad daylight with a knife.
[1:05:47] Speaker 2: He also looked like a cartoon burglar, like stealing puppies.
[1:05:50] Speaker 2: Because when I first saw him on screen, I go,
[1:05:52] Speaker 2: that's not gonna be him.
[1:05:53] Speaker 4: That's like a go, yeah, that's red Herring.
[1:05:55] Speaker 1: Yeah yeah.
[1:05:57] Speaker 2: Because he also has a pet peeve of mine where
[1:05:59] Speaker 2: when a hat does cover your ears and it's like,
[1:06:01] Speaker 2: but that's what you're trying to keep warm, right your ears?
[1:06:03] Speaker 2: Like you fucking it kills me. So the next dasing whatever.
[1:06:08] Speaker 2: So physicians assistant he's smart. I mean they said he's
[1:06:11] Speaker 2: smart and that he had medical stuff and forensic knowledge
[1:06:13] Speaker 2: and you know, so he lived and he lived eight
[1:06:16] Speaker 2: blocks away from the Harding family, so that means he
[1:06:19] Speaker 2: did live next to the sisters back in the day,
[1:06:22] Speaker 2: uh huh, which means he could have killed the sister.
[1:06:26] Speaker 2: He did five years for rape and assault. They're like,
[1:06:29] Speaker 2: oh no, how do you get such a light sentence,
[1:06:30] Speaker 2: And it's because the victim was a sex worker, so
[1:06:32] Speaker 2: he raped and like beat this woman almost to death
[1:06:34] Speaker 2: or to death or whatever.
[1:06:35] Speaker 4: He only got five years nearly to death.
[1:06:37] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[1:06:38] Speaker 2: So and the Jane does were probably all working girls
[1:06:40] Speaker 2: and Sailor's like, fuck, he's not going to talk to us,
[1:06:42] Speaker 2: and Benson goes, well, I know who he will talk to,
[1:06:45] Speaker 2: and it's Deborah Messing. But Deborah Messing's packing. She doesn't
[1:06:48] Speaker 2: want to live there anymore. She doesn't like the idea
[1:06:50] Speaker 2: of him in his bed like in her bed and stuff.
[1:06:53] Speaker 2: Benson goes, wow, so you're giving up, and it's like,
[1:06:55] Speaker 2: can you not bully this woman? Like you the whole
[1:06:57] Speaker 2: episode You're like, get away, get away, get away from us,
[1:07:00] Speaker 2: get away from us.
[1:07:00] Speaker 4: Stop him. You're like, you're not gonna help us. It's
[1:07:03] Speaker 4: like so annoying.
[1:07:04] Speaker 2: But she goes the killer's cough, there's nothing left to do,
[1:07:06] Speaker 2: and Benson goes, we need to identify the victims. She goes,
[1:07:09] Speaker 2: you have your work cut out for you. Then basically
[1:07:11] Speaker 2: Debra's like, what's done is done. It's been twenty five
[1:07:13] Speaker 2: years for looking for this piece of shit.
[1:07:15] Speaker 4: I'm done. I'm done. And it's like, we need your help.
[1:07:17] Speaker 2: Talk to him, please, no, thank you, come on, we
[1:07:19] Speaker 2: need closure the victims. She also doesn't think that like
[1:07:24] Speaker 2: he'll actually tell her where Vanessa's body is, but then
[1:07:27] Speaker 2: deb calls her a manipulative bitch, like I like love
[1:07:29] Speaker 2: this episode.
[1:07:31] Speaker 1: They got to you know, ever tell you you're a
[1:07:33] Speaker 1: manipulative bitch. It's kind of great. It's the best.
[1:07:36] Speaker 4: Okay.
[1:07:37] Speaker 2: So then we're at Rikers and he goes, whenever I
[1:07:38] Speaker 2: boned your assistant, I pretended it was you.
[1:07:41] Speaker 4: So that's you know, that.
[1:07:43] Speaker 1: Sucks, and they're like, babe, we know you're not fucking
[1:07:46] Speaker 1: Your dick does not work.
[1:07:49] Speaker 3: They do.
[1:07:49] Speaker 2: They go, who are you kidding you? We know you
[1:07:51] Speaker 2: didn't touch him. You like your women dead or that's
[1:07:54] Speaker 2: why he like paralyzes them. So then he goes, I
[1:07:57] Speaker 2: only want to talk to the red head. And then the
[1:07:58] Speaker 2: red Head's like, no, Benson's my best friend. She's staying
[1:08:01] Speaker 2: and he says, you want to know about your sister.
[1:08:03] Speaker 2: She says, you killed her and she's dead. He says no,
[1:08:05] Speaker 2: maybe in Vanessa isn't even dead. Maybe I've just been
[1:08:08] Speaker 2: playing games with her, and she goes, I don't have
[1:08:11] Speaker 2: time for this. You know, we need to know about
[1:08:12] Speaker 2: these six women. Where did you meet them? Who are they?
[1:08:14] Speaker 2: And they starts to audio record. He goes, audio, honey,
[1:08:17] Speaker 2: I'm not here for a podcast. Where's the camera crew?
[1:08:19] Speaker 2: He wants attention. He says is this real? Like, if
[1:08:22] Speaker 2: I give you names, dates, locations, you're gonna tell my story.
[1:08:25] Speaker 2: And Benson goes, if you cooperate and tell the truth.
[1:08:27] Speaker 2: He says, it could take a while. There's one for
[1:08:29] Speaker 2: each year I've been living. And he says, took them
[1:08:32] Speaker 2: in clumps. You know, we don't see this guy a lot,
[1:08:34] Speaker 2: but they make him so chilling and evil at the
[1:08:36] Speaker 2: end that I got scared to hear the real crime. Yeah,
[1:08:39] Speaker 2: because I was like, oh, this guy is sick. He
[1:08:41] Speaker 2: is a socio. So basically some years he didn't hunt
[1:08:44] Speaker 2: at all. But there's forty three women total. And he goes, well,
[1:08:47] Speaker 2: forty four if you count the lawyer, and then he
[1:08:50] Speaker 2: calls her a meat sack and then he and then
[1:08:54] Speaker 2: he's so evil he's grinning. But she wants to work
[1:08:56] Speaker 2: and just start with the New York victims. And then
[1:08:58] Speaker 2: she goes, and then we could go to Maryland. He goes, oh,
[1:09:00] Speaker 2: you know about that, and she goes, yeah, and I'd
[1:09:02] Speaker 2: like to know more. And they do kind of a
[1:09:04] Speaker 2: face off, you know, and why.
[1:09:05] Speaker 1: Why would they not know? Didn't you send a photo
[1:09:07] Speaker 1: of Maryland? I think she figured it out or something
[1:09:10] Speaker 1: like that. I don't know who knows.
[1:09:13] Speaker 2: He says, mostly girls runaways, a couple I snatched. None
[1:09:17] Speaker 2: of them put up much of a fight. Want me
[1:09:18] Speaker 2: to go in order from front to last, Annie Pruitt, God,
[1:09:22] Speaker 2: she was sweet and they just have to listen to him,
[1:09:24] Speaker 2: like enjoy his dark journey and then that's stick wolf baby.
[1:09:29] Speaker 1: Yeah. It's sort of like weird to me that they
[1:09:32] Speaker 1: don't ever have him explain like what he did to
[1:09:37] Speaker 1: her sister, Like she's not like we're not seeing her
[1:09:40] Speaker 1: get the closure, you know, like you assume that like
[1:09:43] Speaker 1: he's gonna get to her on the list. But like,
[1:09:47] Speaker 1: and I'm fine with them not giving all like nasty details,
[1:09:49] Speaker 1: But why are we saying, Annie Pruitt, why don't we
[1:09:51] Speaker 1: like I'm start.
[1:09:52] Speaker 2: With your sister, blah blah blah, you know, like, well no,
[1:09:54] Speaker 2: because he wants to go in order. So I guess
[1:09:55] Speaker 2: he killed before the sister.
[1:09:57] Speaker 1: Yeah, well yeah, I had this, like I had this
[1:10:04] Speaker 1: vision in my head of a scene where Deborah Messing's
[1:10:06] Speaker 1: sister gets found and he's with and she's there. But
[1:10:10] Speaker 1: I think I'm thinking of the scene where they go
[1:10:11] Speaker 1: to the dump. I think I super imposed that. I
[1:10:13] Speaker 1: thought that, like I thought that there was closure like this,
[1:10:16] Speaker 1: when the dick Wolf comes up, I was like, oh,
[1:10:18] Speaker 1: it's over. I thought he takes her to the site.
[1:10:20] Speaker 1: I made that up in my head. Okay, let's get
[1:10:23] Speaker 1: into some true crime. Obviously, Neighborhood Predator or whatever. Alicia's
[1:10:37] Speaker 1: show is clearly based on To Catch Your Predator, which
[1:10:40] Speaker 1: was a recurring segment on Dateline NBC which aired from
[1:10:46] Speaker 1: two thousand and four to two thousand and eight. I
[1:10:48] Speaker 1: thought that To Catch Your Predator was on for like
[1:10:50] Speaker 1: at least a decade. I thought it was on for
[1:10:52] Speaker 1: a long time, but really just those four years, and
[1:10:55] Speaker 1: it was only on for really three. It was canceled
[1:10:57] Speaker 1: the beginning of eight, but the last episode's ended in
[1:11:00] Speaker 1: oh seven, so it was really only on for four
[1:11:02] Speaker 1: or five six seven. So yeah, And I worked at
[1:11:05] Speaker 1: NBC at this time, Like this is the time period
[1:11:07] Speaker 1: that I got interviewed on Dateline, so I have I
[1:11:11] Speaker 1: would do take show tours of the Dateline studios, like
[1:11:15] Speaker 1: this was when Dateline was in its fucking heyday because
[1:11:17] Speaker 1: of To Catch a Predator. I feel like that's when
[1:11:19] Speaker 1: people were really my sister's still a huge Dateline fan,
[1:11:22] Speaker 1: but you know, take catchup predator was juicing them their ratings.
[1:11:25] Speaker 1: It was hosted by Chris Hansen. We know the story,
[1:11:28] Speaker 1: like they would lure sexual predators by posing as miners online.
[1:11:31] Speaker 1: They would show up with like lube condoms, wine coolers,
[1:11:34] Speaker 1: et cetera. Just like an episode really on the show.
[1:11:38] Speaker 1: They just set up a few stings and they would
[1:11:40] Speaker 1: use They would use stings, one sting to do multiple episodes,
[1:11:44] Speaker 1: So like they did one on Long Island, DC, Riverside, California, Greenville, Ohio,
[1:11:49] Speaker 1: Fort Myers, Florida, forts In Georgia, Petaluma, California, Long Beach, California, Murphy, Texas,
[1:11:55] Speaker 1: Flagler Beach, Florida, Ocean County, New Jersey, and Bowling Green, Kentucky.
[1:12:00] Speaker 1: So those were like the few cities that they did
[1:12:02] Speaker 1: and then just spread those into like four years of episodes.
[1:12:06] Speaker 1: And yeah, there were only twenty episodes. If to Catch
[1:12:09] Speaker 1: a Predator, I thought there were like one hundreds. I
[1:12:11] Speaker 1: really thought it was like on for a long time.
[1:12:12] Speaker 1: There was only Yeah, but how many people it was?
[1:12:14] Speaker 1: How many arrests per episode? Well, it's hard to say
[1:12:18] Speaker 1: because some of the different like some of them, they
[1:12:20] Speaker 1: were arrested and then all the charges got thrown out
[1:12:22] Speaker 1: because of like, yeah, well not really entrapment. I'll get
[1:12:27] Speaker 1: into this, but okay, Like they said about Alicia in
[1:12:31] Speaker 1: the episode, they accused her of making the news rather
[1:12:34] Speaker 1: than reporting it. That's what everybody starts to say about
[1:12:37] Speaker 1: to catch your predator, And when they're criticizing it, like
[1:12:39] Speaker 1: people are, there's some criticism for it. They get criticized
[1:12:43] Speaker 1: for blurring the lines between the news and law enforcement.
[1:12:46] Speaker 1: A guy named Brian Montopoli from the CBS News Public
[1:12:49] Speaker 1: Eyeblog argued that even though lead gold re percussions were
[1:12:53] Speaker 1: brought about by law enforcement, by broadcasting the suspects on
[1:12:56] Speaker 1: national TV, it's like you're doling out punishments yourself as
[1:13:00] Speaker 1: the media by like humiliating somebody on television, whether or
[1:13:05] Speaker 1: not they like. It's basically it feels like you're going
[1:13:08] Speaker 1: around due process because even though they might not be
[1:13:10] Speaker 1: getting jail time, you're publicizing them. And we do have
[1:13:16] Speaker 1: a legal system. I mean it's not always it's it's
[1:13:18] Speaker 1: often bad, but so he but at.
[1:13:21] Speaker 2: Least someone's caring, Like who cares. It's like, at the
[1:13:24] Speaker 2: end of the day, if the pedophiles weren't running our
[1:13:27] Speaker 2: whole world, then the law matter, because in my head,
[1:13:32] Speaker 2: it's like, oh no, there's a legal system, yeah, built
[1:13:35] Speaker 2: by pedophiles.
[1:13:35] Speaker 4: So like I don't I don't know.
[1:13:38] Speaker 2: I'd rather them try to maybe think pedophilia is wrong.
[1:13:41] Speaker 2: I'm on Chris Hansen's side.
[1:13:43] Speaker 1: No, for sure. But then other people were saying, like
[1:13:46] Speaker 1: the NBC cares more about ratings than they do about
[1:13:49] Speaker 1: actually like you know, bringing pedophiles to justice.
[1:13:53] Speaker 2: Okay, sure, but at least they care more about the
[1:13:56] Speaker 2: pedophiles than the cops, you know what I mean.
[1:13:58] Speaker 4: It's like it's like the cops are not doing this enough.
[1:14:02] Speaker 1: I guess, like they're not doing this, like there's not
[1:14:04] Speaker 1: the manpower to like police the internet because I think
[1:14:07] Speaker 1: as this show, like this show SBU started five years
[1:14:11] Speaker 1: before to catch predators, So at this time period late nineties,
[1:14:14] Speaker 1: early two thousands, we're sort of realizing how deep the
[1:14:18] Speaker 1: pedophile well is because of the Internet, you know, because
[1:14:22] Speaker 1: of chat rooms and all this shit that we've only
[1:14:24] Speaker 1: really had at that point for like ten years. So
[1:14:27] Speaker 1: some people argue that the show was guilty of entrapment,
[1:14:29] Speaker 1: but since they are not law enforcement, like they really
[1:14:32] Speaker 1: can't be like liable for entrapment, Like that can't be
[1:14:36] Speaker 1: part of it. So they didn't really get busted for entrapment.
[1:14:39] Speaker 1: In one of their last stings, the one in Murphy, Texas,
[1:14:43] Speaker 1: was November of twenty six, twenty five men arrived in
[1:14:46] Speaker 1: the location over four days. And that's like Murphy, Texas,
[1:14:49] Speaker 1: that doesn't seem like it's like a massive city or anything.
[1:14:52] Speaker 1: So that's twenty five pedophiles coming and it's like kind
[1:14:56] Speaker 1: of what Alisha was saying, how there was this one location,
[1:14:58] Speaker 1: one sting where so many of them kept coming they
[1:15:01] Speaker 1: had to move them out the back door or whatever, right,
[1:15:03] Speaker 1: So I think that's like what they're referencing here. So
[1:15:06] Speaker 1: in this Murphy Texas sting, all these guys came over
[1:15:10] Speaker 1: four days, and law enforcement was investigating additional guys who
[1:15:14] Speaker 1: had been chatting with their like mole online but who
[1:15:18] Speaker 1: never showed up. And one of the guys that was
[1:15:21] Speaker 1: a no show was Kaufman County Assistant District Attorney Bill Conrad,
[1:15:27] Speaker 1: and when police arrived at his house with a search
[1:15:31] Speaker 1: warrant in November of fifth, November fifth of two thousand
[1:15:35] Speaker 1: and six, Conrad shot and killed himself. So that brought
[1:15:38] Speaker 1: a lot of because this is a person who's online
[1:15:42] Speaker 1: exchanging shitty, horrible information but doesn't actually show up to
[1:15:47] Speaker 1: the meet and when they show up at his house,
[1:15:50] Speaker 1: just the fear of being exposed, he takes his own life.
[1:15:54] Speaker 1: So that brings a lot of attention also to get
[1:15:56] Speaker 1: your predator. And he had been and yeah, he'd been
[1:16:00] Speaker 1: chatting and exchanging picks with a volunteer from Perverted Justice,
[1:16:04] Speaker 1: which is a watchdog group that worked with to catch
[1:16:07] Speaker 1: a predator who was posing as a thirteen year old.
[1:16:09] Speaker 1: And yeah, right as the NBC camera crew entered his home,
[1:16:13] Speaker 1: he took his own life and they got the scene
[1:16:15] Speaker 1: on camera, the fatal shot, so his fally, Yeah, I
[1:16:20] Speaker 1: don't know if they showed it or anything, but they
[1:16:22] Speaker 1: got it on camera. His family later sued Dateline for
[1:16:27] Speaker 1: one hundred and five million dollars and the case was
[1:16:29] Speaker 1: settled for an undisclosed amount, and then the show wrapped
[1:16:32] Speaker 1: up at the end of two thousand and seven, and
[1:16:36] Speaker 1: Chris Hansen said it had quote unquote run its course,
[1:16:38] Speaker 1: which is like, I mean, maybe it's not like pedophilia
[1:16:42] Speaker 1: got solved, but a lot of the criticism, they said
[1:16:46] Speaker 1: it felt like maybe the show got too high risk
[1:16:48] Speaker 1: for NBC. Especially with people like you know, taking their
[1:16:52] Speaker 1: own lives and stuff like that. The other thing is, like,
[1:16:55] Speaker 1: to answer your question, there was one sting where they
[1:16:57] Speaker 1: got a bunch of guys in the judge threw them
[1:16:59] Speaker 1: all out, like, so it's hard to say how many
[1:17:02] Speaker 1: people actually got like busted from it, you know, because
[1:17:06] Speaker 1: also it's like when the cops do a sting like this,
[1:17:08] Speaker 1: do they wait until someone has to make a move
[1:17:13] Speaker 1: before they you know what I mean, you know how
[1:17:15] Speaker 1: it's like you have to buy the drugs before we
[1:17:17] Speaker 1: can bust the person, you know, Like do they wait
[1:17:19] Speaker 1: until the person tries to like kiss the miner or
[1:17:22] Speaker 1: the person posing as the miner before they can do it,
[1:17:25] Speaker 1: or then the charges Like it's like I wonder like
[1:17:28] Speaker 1: what the charges are for.
[1:17:30] Speaker 4: It's like solicitation, is that as bad? That's not going
[1:17:32] Speaker 4: to get you.
[1:17:33] Speaker 1: As bad of a charge as like pinophil like actual
[1:17:36] Speaker 1: sexual assault. But you also don't want anyone to ge assaulted.
[1:17:38] Speaker 1: So that's the dateline of it all. That's the to
[1:17:41] Speaker 1: catch a predator, the at least you show part of it.
[1:17:43] Speaker 1: So this is one of those episodes where a lot
[1:17:46] Speaker 1: of people there's a lot of different cases listed as
[1:17:48] Speaker 1: things this could be about. So some people think it's
[1:17:51] Speaker 1: Ted Bundy. I don't think it's Ted Bundy. And some
[1:17:54] Speaker 1: people think that it is related to the Gilgo Beach Murder,
[1:18:01] Speaker 1: which it has a lot of, which we covered in
[1:18:03] Speaker 1: the episode Daydream Believer whenever people.
[1:18:06] Speaker 2: Brought whenever people bring up the Gilgo Beach killer, and
[1:18:09] Speaker 2: I go, we covered it before it was solved, And yeah,
[1:18:12] Speaker 2: for some reason, it makes me feel cool, but like
[1:18:14] Speaker 2: we solved it.
[1:18:15] Speaker 1: Yeah, but what's weird in this? In the if you remember,
[1:18:20] Speaker 1: in the Gilgo Beach murder, there was a victim named
[1:18:24] Speaker 1: Melissa Barthelemy, and eight days after she disappeared, her sister Amanda,
[1:18:30] Speaker 1: got a call from her phone number. But it's a
[1:18:33] Speaker 1: man asking are you a whore like your sister? Are
[1:18:35] Speaker 1: you planning on becoming a prostitute? Like asking all these
[1:18:38] Speaker 1: butt And then he called her like six times, but
[1:18:40] Speaker 1: never for more than ninety seconds, like he knew he
[1:18:42] Speaker 1: was being traced. And then in the last call he
[1:18:44] Speaker 1: told her he killed his sister, so he wanted to
[1:18:47] Speaker 1: terrorize the sister. So that part to me is a
[1:18:49] Speaker 1: little bit maybe borrowed from the stalking of Alicia and everything.
[1:18:54] Speaker 4: It also reminds me of the Martin Short episode.
[1:18:56] Speaker 1: Yes, oh wait, he like disguises his voice, but it's
[1:19:00] Speaker 1: so if you know you're it's like you're so clearly
[1:19:02] Speaker 1: like this is evil Martin Short. But I think it's
[1:19:05] Speaker 1: seems this guy's killing seems most like Gary Ridgeway, who
[1:19:10] Speaker 1: is the Green River killer? Who is I think he's
[1:19:13] Speaker 1: like a serial killer who basically didn't really have that
[1:19:16] Speaker 1: much remorse, like and that's I feel like it's the
[1:19:20] Speaker 1: Gary Ridgeway.
[1:19:22] Speaker 4: The number of people, et cetera.
[1:19:25] Speaker 1: People said that Gary Ridgeway was strange but pretty normal,
[1:19:30] Speaker 1: Like he wasn't like at he was an unassuming truck painter,
[1:19:32] Speaker 1: Like he wasn't a person that people were like, you
[1:19:34] Speaker 1: gotta watch out for that guy. According to women he
[1:19:37] Speaker 1: had relationships with, he was a sex fiend.
[1:19:39] Speaker 4: He wanted sex multiple times a day.
[1:19:41] Speaker 1: He wanted to have sex in public or in the woods,
[1:19:43] Speaker 1: and he was also weirdly obsessed with sex workers, Like
[1:19:47] Speaker 1: he would complain about them being in his neighborhood and
[1:19:50] Speaker 1: he would say he hated them, but then he would
[1:19:51] Speaker 1: also solicit them and hire them. So definitely a madonna
[1:19:56] Speaker 1: and horror complex that many men have about women. Ridgeway
[1:20:00] Speaker 1: grew up in the Seattle Tacoma area, and it's believed
[1:20:03] Speaker 1: that he killed around seventy one teenage girls and women
[1:20:07] Speaker 1: there in the eighties and nineties. He said he killed
[1:20:10] Speaker 1: so many that he lost count. But what's crazy is
[1:20:13] Speaker 1: the majority of the murders took place between nineteen eighty
[1:20:15] Speaker 1: two and nineteen eighty four. He wasn't arrested until two
[1:20:18] Speaker 1: thousand and one, and at the time that he was arrested,
[1:20:21] Speaker 1: he was considered the most prolific serial killer in the US. Like, I, yeah,
[1:20:26] Speaker 1: I've heard this name, the Green River Killer. Yeah, well,
[1:20:30] Speaker 1: I'll tell you. I know why you've heard the name,
[1:20:32] Speaker 1: and I'll get to it. It also reminds me of
[1:20:34] Speaker 1: like a soda. Is there a Green River soda brand
[1:20:36] Speaker 1: or something Green Mountain? There's like Green Mountain coffee. No,
[1:20:40] Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know. But he was considered
[1:20:45] Speaker 1: this prolific serial killer, the most prolific serial killer as
[1:20:48] Speaker 1: of two thousand and one. In two thousand and three,
[1:20:50] Speaker 1: he was convicted of murdering forty nine women between nineteen
[1:20:54] Speaker 1: eighty two and nineteen ninety eight in the Pacific Northwest.
[1:20:57] Speaker 1: Like Grafton, the character in the show, killed mostly sex workers, runaways,
[1:21:01] Speaker 1: and other vulnerable women. Unlike Grafton, he didn't stab. He
[1:21:06] Speaker 1: would strangle his victims, often by hand and sometimes using ligatures.
[1:21:11] Speaker 1: So basically what he would do is he would pick
[1:21:12] Speaker 1: up women on Pacific Highway South, or he'd go to
[1:21:16] Speaker 1: strolls like areas where sex workers worked, and many times
[1:21:20] Speaker 1: he would show a picture of his son. He had
[1:21:23] Speaker 1: a son with his second wife, and that was to
[1:21:26] Speaker 1: get women to trust him.
[1:21:28] Speaker 4: And most of the women were killed in his home.
[1:21:31] Speaker 1: He would bring them back to his home or in
[1:21:33] Speaker 1: his truck, or he would take them to a wooded
[1:21:35] Speaker 1: area and one of his common things he would do
[1:21:38] Speaker 1: is he would start having sex with them from behind
[1:21:40] Speaker 1: and then in the middle of intercourse would put them
[1:21:44] Speaker 1: in a choke hold and strangle them to death, so
[1:21:48] Speaker 1: so psychotic, like so so psychotic, and then he would
[1:21:52] Speaker 1: dump them around the Green River and around the Sea
[1:21:55] Speaker 1: Tac Airport, and they were usually nude, sometimes they were posed.
[1:22:01] Speaker 1: He also had two confirmed victims in Portland as well
[1:22:04] Speaker 1: as too suspected and those he later told people he
[1:22:07] Speaker 1: killed in the Seattle area and drove to Portland to
[1:22:10] Speaker 1: confuse police. So this guy was thinking like he was smart,
[1:22:15] Speaker 1: like he was always trying to He would contaminate crime
[1:22:18] Speaker 1: scenes with gum and cigarette butts because he didn't smoke
[1:22:21] Speaker 1: or chew gum, so he would like do all this
[1:22:23] Speaker 1: shit to try to throw authorities off moving the bodies.
[1:22:27] Speaker 2: And you think the GUMPI used garbage like with the
[1:22:30] Speaker 2: gumbin cigarettes or like.
[1:22:33] Speaker 1: Maybe maybe he was actually chewing it. And because it's
[1:22:35] Speaker 1: like before DNA, so I don't think he was that
[1:22:37] Speaker 1: worried about DNA. I think he was just like, I'll
[1:22:39] Speaker 1: leave the butts here and people will think it's a smoker,
[1:22:41] Speaker 1: and I'm not a smoker, you know, So maybe he
[1:22:43] Speaker 1: smoked it with a cigarette down.
[1:22:45] Speaker 4: I don't know, did like age.
[1:22:48] Speaker 1: A teenage no inhal so he uh, he would dump
[1:22:53] Speaker 1: bodies in heavily wooded areas and then much like Ted Bundy,
[1:22:57] Speaker 1: he would return later to the bodies to prefer acts
[1:23:00] Speaker 1: of necrophilia on them. And he said that the necrophilia
[1:23:06] Speaker 1: wasn't a preference. He didn't like actually like having sex
[1:23:09] Speaker 1: with dead bodies. He said it was just a good
[1:23:12] Speaker 1: way for him to like feed his sex addiction without
[1:23:15] Speaker 1: killing another victim and risk getting caught. I don't think
[1:23:18] Speaker 1: he really cared about the victims per se, but I
[1:23:20] Speaker 1: think he's like, every time I go out there and
[1:23:22] Speaker 1: I take somebody, I'm putting myself out there.
[1:23:23] Speaker 4: So if I can just actually rape the.
[1:23:26] Speaker 1: Bodies of these dead bodies, like that'll actually be a
[1:23:29] Speaker 1: few more times that I don't have to go kidnapp
[1:23:31] Speaker 1: a live woman. Like it's so fucked. And I know
[1:23:35] Speaker 1: a lot about this guy because I read a book
[1:23:37] Speaker 1: about him. But he later confessed that he would take
[1:23:41] Speaker 1: his ex wives to the dump sites for picnics or
[1:23:45] Speaker 1: to have outdoor sex, so that like you know, was
[1:23:49] Speaker 1: a thing that he liked whatever. So after his first
[1:23:53] Speaker 1: five victims were found, the Green River Task Force was
[1:23:57] Speaker 1: put together. Okay, Robert and David Reischert were on the
[1:24:02] Speaker 1: task force. Robert Keppel wrote a book called The Riverman,
[1:24:07] Speaker 1: Ted Bundy and I Hunt for the Green River Killer,
[1:24:09] Speaker 1: which is a book I read. I don't know if
[1:24:11] Speaker 1: I finished it, but I got like three quarters of
[1:24:13] Speaker 1: the way, and it was basically about how he did
[1:24:18] Speaker 1: like a Hannibal lectra situation. He used talking to Ted
[1:24:21] Speaker 1: Bundy to try to find the Green River Killer and
[1:24:23] Speaker 1: Ted Bundy did give them information, like Ted Bundy was
[1:24:27] Speaker 1: the one who suggested that that Green River killer was
[1:24:29] Speaker 1: returning to the dumb sites to have sex with his
[1:24:31] Speaker 1: victims and he was correct. So yeah, so and also
[1:24:37] Speaker 1: there I didn't watch it, but there is a documentary
[1:24:40] Speaker 1: based off of this book called Ted Bundy Dialogue with
[1:24:43] Speaker 1: the Devil that came out on Hulu this past August
[1:24:47] Speaker 1: of twenty twenty five. So that's like the documentary version
[1:24:51] Speaker 1: of the book. And yeah, I remember because this is
[1:24:56] Speaker 1: how I got really into this female FBI agent that
[1:24:58] Speaker 1: helped find Ted Bundy, and I like, I want to
[1:25:00] Speaker 1: write a movie about her because I feel like she's
[1:25:02] Speaker 1: the one that helped find Ted Bundy because she got
[1:25:04] Speaker 1: into the mind of how he was convincing women to
[1:25:06] Speaker 1: go with him because the cops were just being so
[1:25:09] Speaker 1: fucking stupid and they're very stupid in the Green River
[1:25:11] Speaker 1: case as well, so you.
[1:25:13] Speaker 2: Know, cause you know, I was just thinking in my head,
[1:25:16] Speaker 2: like when you care or want to know about crime stuff,
[1:25:20] Speaker 2: it's like who's your favorite or what's your fav It's like,
[1:25:22] Speaker 2: I don't find any of these people favor Like I don't,
[1:25:25] Speaker 2: you know, like case Wise and in my head, I'm
[1:25:28] Speaker 2: like the people that sick with me are like the
[1:25:31] Speaker 2: prosecutor and the Colleen standcase or like all those detectives
[1:25:35] Speaker 2: that like the Robin Williams with all the phones and
[1:25:37] Speaker 2: like I don't know these helpers. And then like this
[1:25:40] Speaker 2: woman you know, like that's yeah, that's who like the
[1:25:44] Speaker 2: crime stuff needs to be more focused on. Then like
[1:25:48] Speaker 2: oh it's Ted Bundy, r ed. Which do you know
[1:25:50] Speaker 2: about this one? And I'm like, go get your jolly's
[1:25:53] Speaker 2: off over there. Kind of happens with Russian. Like when
[1:25:54] Speaker 2: people are obsessed with Russian, They're like, have you read
[1:25:56] Speaker 2: this book? I'm like, I don't have to read anything.
[1:25:58] Speaker 2: I don't, you know what I mean? Yeah, I feel
[1:26:00] Speaker 2: with this like sometimes like I don't care about these guys.
[1:26:05] Speaker 2: I think I am confusing two people.
[1:26:08] Speaker 1: And Burgess was a female researcher with the FBI who
[1:26:11] Speaker 1: consulted with the FBI to basically create profiling. But the
[1:26:15] Speaker 1: woman I'm talking about is a detective, not an FBI.
[1:26:17] Speaker 1: She was a detective named Kathleen McChesney, and she was
[1:26:23] Speaker 1: like an all a female detective at a time that
[1:26:25] Speaker 1: there weren't really a lot of them during the Ted
[1:26:27] Speaker 1: Bundy stuff, and she was instrumental in helping bring him
[1:26:30] Speaker 1: down and changing the profile of him. I think she
[1:26:33] Speaker 1: was like one of the first people that was like,
[1:26:35] Speaker 1: I think he's attractive, Like I think he's a pert.
[1:26:37] Speaker 1: I don't think he's this eh, can somebody help me?
[1:26:40] Speaker 1: You know, like like he was like this nice, kind
[1:26:43] Speaker 1: of cute guy being like, would you mind helping me
[1:26:45] Speaker 1: get my water skis in the car, and then like
[1:26:47] Speaker 1: fucking grabbing people, you know. So yeah, but she was
[1:26:52] Speaker 1: so Kathleen McChesney is who I was thinking of, but
[1:26:54] Speaker 1: she was not FBI. So speaking of FBI though, the
[1:26:58] Speaker 1: other guy who was on the task for David Reich
[1:27:00] Speaker 1: shirt he ends up later becoming a congressman. And then
[1:27:04] Speaker 1: there was also FBI special agent John E. Douglass and
[1:27:08] Speaker 1: he is Jonathan Groff's character in mind Hunter. You're mind Hunter? Right?
[1:27:12] Speaker 2: Did you watch mind Hunter? I for sure watched the
[1:27:14] Speaker 2: first season. I've watched most seasons for sure.
[1:27:16] Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I don't know why I'm pretending
[1:27:19] Speaker 1: my phone, my Google like knows exactly who I am
[1:27:23] Speaker 1: in a way that is so creepy where pretty much
[1:27:25] Speaker 1: every six months they'll be like updates on Mine Hunter
[1:27:28] Speaker 1: season three. They're like, we know you want it, Like
[1:27:30] Speaker 1: they just like know that I have Netflix and that
[1:27:33] Speaker 1: I liked the first two and that I have this podcast,
[1:27:36] Speaker 1: and they're like, you want another season of mine Hunter.
[1:27:38] Speaker 1: They keep teasing it like it's gonna happen, but we'll
[1:27:40] Speaker 1: see anyway.
[1:27:42] Speaker 2: They are because they're both hot in different ways too,
[1:27:46] Speaker 2: And I like.
[1:27:46] Speaker 4: That the other guy's an SVU guy and I think
[1:27:48] Speaker 4: he's hot. Well, yeah, he's a spider man. He is best.
[1:27:52] Speaker 1: Yeah, you get any closer to me, I'm gonna kick
[1:27:54] Speaker 1: your balls and pull him out of your throat.
[1:27:56] Speaker 2: That's what's crazy. That was frozen z. The no Frozen
[1:28:00] Speaker 2: was the vegetarian episode.
[1:28:02] Speaker 4: This was Jiz. That was spit out right.
[1:28:06] Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, but.
[1:28:08] Speaker 4: The sperms weren't folded. They were still yes, you're.
[1:28:11] Speaker 1: Okay, Yeah, frozen sperm is beef manipulated is spit sperm
[1:28:15] Speaker 1: Just for everybody's you know, mnemonic devices. Okay. So Reichshert
[1:28:21] Speaker 1: and Keppel are talking to Ted Bundy a lot in
[1:28:24] Speaker 1: nineteen eighty four, and he's offering them all these thoughts
[1:28:27] Speaker 1: about the motives, the psychology. Like I said, the necrophilia
[1:28:31] Speaker 1: is like something he brings to the table, and so
[1:28:34] Speaker 1: that's how they're trying to find him. Does it work
[1:28:38] Speaker 1: this task for us that they start, not really okay,
[1:28:40] Speaker 1: because the cops are all like dumb. Gary Ridgeway was
[1:28:44] Speaker 1: actually a suspect in nineteen eighty three. In April of
[1:28:48] Speaker 1: nineteen eighty three, a guy named Robert Woods watched his girlfriend,
[1:28:53] Speaker 1: eighteen year old Marie Malvar, get into Gary Ridgway's truck
[1:28:57] Speaker 1: and he noticed that it had patches of primer. And
[1:28:59] Speaker 1: remember Gary Ridgeway was like a truck painter. So he
[1:29:03] Speaker 1: follows them to a motel parking lot and out again,
[1:29:06] Speaker 1: and then he loses them at a traffic signal. Okay.
[1:29:09] Speaker 1: A few days later, he reports her missing because she
[1:29:11] Speaker 1: hasn't turned up, but why and she.
[1:29:13] Speaker 4: Go in the car like what's going on?
[1:29:14] Speaker 1: Maybe she's a sex worker and he knows she does that.
[1:29:17] Speaker 1: I don't know, but like I don't know, I actually
[1:29:20] Speaker 1: don't know the story behind that. She's eighteen, but uck
[1:29:23] Speaker 1: he reports her missing. He describes a dark pickup and
[1:29:27] Speaker 1: a dark haired man thirty to forty.
[1:29:29] Speaker 4: Ridgeway was thirty four.
[1:29:31] Speaker 1: And Marie's father is like scouring the neighborhood with all
[1:29:36] Speaker 1: these other men in the family, and they spot a truck,
[1:29:39] Speaker 1: a maroon pickup truck parked in front of Ridgeway's home
[1:29:42] Speaker 1: and they call the cops. A detective gets sent out
[1:29:46] Speaker 1: to talk to Ridgeway. He denies knowing her. This detective
[1:29:50] Speaker 1: just believes him, and later Gary Ridgeway made it public
[1:29:54] Speaker 1: that he was standing against a fence in his yard
[1:29:58] Speaker 1: while being questioned by this detective to hide scratches on
[1:30:01] Speaker 1: his arm that she had left on his arm as
[1:30:03] Speaker 1: she fought for her life, like he had already killed her,
[1:30:06] Speaker 1: and like he was trying to hide the scratches from
[1:30:08] Speaker 1: the detective. And after the detective left, he burned the
[1:30:12] Speaker 1: gouges with battery acid to just disguise them so that
[1:30:16] Speaker 1: they wouldn't look like scrap fingernail scrapes. And then he
[1:30:18] Speaker 1: returned to the wooded area where he had dumped her body,
[1:30:21] Speaker 1: and he buried her. And this is so sad, Like
[1:30:24] Speaker 1: her family had found her id near the Seattle Tacoma
[1:30:28] Speaker 1: airport and so they had hope that maybe she went somewhere,
[1:30:32] Speaker 1: maybe she flew away, right, he planted it there to
[1:30:35] Speaker 1: throw the cops off, he planted her idea at the airport,
[1:30:38] Speaker 1: so he's thinking, this guy, he's not just like an
[1:30:41] Speaker 1: animal who's like I got to kill, I got to kill.
[1:30:43] Speaker 1: I'm like, I have this urge. It's like he's doing
[1:30:46] Speaker 1: it and then plotting how not to get caught, right,
[1:30:49] Speaker 1: and for some reason they just buy his story. And
[1:30:52] Speaker 1: then he passes a polygraph in nineteen eighty four, but
[1:30:55] Speaker 1: the cops are like, don't worry, We're still keeping an
[1:30:57] Speaker 1: eye on him. Okay, But nineteen eighty five he starts
[1:31:02] Speaker 1: dating Judith Mawson and he marries her in nineteen eighty eight,
[1:31:05] Speaker 1: and she's his third wife. And yeah, like he was
[1:31:09] Speaker 1: only married to his first wife for a couple of years,
[1:31:14] Speaker 1: and then he was married to a second wife for
[1:31:16] Speaker 1: like eight years, and then after his second wife is
[1:31:18] Speaker 1: when most of his murdering happened. And then eighty eight
[1:31:22] Speaker 1: to two thousand and two he's married to Judith, and
[1:31:24] Speaker 1: that's like so that they're married for fourteen years basically
[1:31:27] Speaker 1: till he gets caught. So she's his third wife, Judith,
[1:31:31] Speaker 1: and she's completely unaware that he's a serial killer and
[1:31:34] Speaker 1: doesn't even know about the Green River Killer because she
[1:31:36] Speaker 1: doesn't watch the news. She says, he's this nice guy,
[1:31:39] Speaker 1: she's a great husband. She does not see anything fucked
[1:31:42] Speaker 1: up about him. And Ridgeway actually says that his kill
[1:31:46] Speaker 1: rate plummeted when he was with Judith because he truly
[1:31:48] Speaker 1: loved her and he was happy with her. So of
[1:31:51] Speaker 1: his forty nine known victims, only three were killed while
[1:31:54] Speaker 1: he was married to Judas.
[1:31:55] Speaker 4: Wow, Judas saved a lot of lives.
[1:31:57] Speaker 1: She says it. When they interview her. She goes, I
[1:31:59] Speaker 1: think I saved I The only thing that I can
[1:32:02] Speaker 1: literally keeps me probably from freaking the fuck out every
[1:32:06] Speaker 1: minute of my life, is that I saved some lives
[1:32:08] Speaker 1: by being married to him. I guess. But in nineteen
[1:32:13] Speaker 1: eighty seven they did somehow get his DNA, but he
[1:32:18] Speaker 1: wasn't arrested until two thousand and one, so it only
[1:32:21] Speaker 1: took him fourteen years to get him. And then I
[1:32:23] Speaker 1: think they just DNA was catching up and that's how
[1:32:26] Speaker 1: they got him. And so in two thousand and three
[1:32:29] Speaker 1: he pled guilty to forty eight council first degree murder
[1:32:32] Speaker 1: and he was spared the death penalty in exchange for
[1:32:34] Speaker 1: pleading guilty as and he agreed to cooperate with locating
[1:32:39] Speaker 1: and identifying victims, and so it just like, so, yeah,
[1:32:43] Speaker 1: he's older than four, but like it's almost the same
[1:32:45] Speaker 1: as in the episode where he almost has one for
[1:32:47] Speaker 1: every year he's been alive. He's a little older when
[1:32:49] Speaker 1: they find him, but almost like the episode. So he
[1:32:54] Speaker 1: got forty eight life sentences without paroles, served consecutively. Then
[1:32:59] Speaker 1: he got ten more more years for each body for
[1:33:03] Speaker 1: tampering with evidence, So that adds four hundred and eighty
[1:33:06] Speaker 1: years to the forty eight life sentences, and then he
[1:33:09] Speaker 1: later was given another life sentence when a forty ninth
[1:33:12] Speaker 1: victim was found. And on separate occasions, he's claimed to
[1:33:16] Speaker 1: be responsible for killing sixty five women and another time
[1:33:18] Speaker 1: seventy one. More recently, he had said seventy five to eighty,
[1:33:23] Speaker 1: but a lot of people aren't sure if he's just
[1:33:25] Speaker 1: trying to like up his count. But you know, the
[1:33:27] Speaker 1: Pacific Northwest is like a heavily like wooded area, and
[1:33:32] Speaker 1: it's possible once you he wasn't like keeping a scrapbook,
[1:33:35] Speaker 1: I don't think, like, so it's possible that he literally
[1:33:39] Speaker 1: did just like lose count of some of them, you know,
[1:33:41] Speaker 1: and they're just they were never found, or their bodies
[1:33:43] Speaker 1: just decomposed before they were found, so he could. I'm
[1:33:46] Speaker 1: sure he's responsible for more than forty nine, to be honest.
[1:33:50] Speaker 1: In his confession, he said he targeted sex workers because
[1:33:53] Speaker 1: they were quote easy to pick up and that he
[1:33:55] Speaker 1: quote hated most of them. He also confessed to the
[1:33:58] Speaker 1: necrophilia he said. He said later on in his killing
[1:34:02] Speaker 1: he would bury his victims, so he would resist the
[1:34:05] Speaker 1: urge to revisit their bodies, because if he buried them,
[1:34:08] Speaker 1: he wouldn't go back and dig them up, but if
[1:34:10] Speaker 1: he left them out, he would go back. It's so gross.
[1:34:15] Speaker 1: Maybe that's why I stopped reading the book. The book
[1:34:17] Speaker 1: was just like, really really a lot. It was just
[1:34:19] Speaker 1: so many murders. In twenty thirteen, Ridgway was talking to
[1:34:25] Speaker 1: Air Force criminal investigator Rob Fitzgerald about his crimes, because,
[1:34:29] Speaker 1: starting in two thousand and eight, Fitzgerald had started hunting
[1:34:32] Speaker 1: for his unidentified victims. Ridgeway spoke to Fitzgerald multiple times
[1:34:36] Speaker 1: per week, and he even provided Fitzgerald with photos of
[1:34:40] Speaker 1: supposed dump sites to search, so he was working with
[1:34:44] Speaker 1: law enforcement afterwards. Kind of the way that this guy
[1:34:47] Speaker 1: is agreeing to do at the end of the episode.
[1:34:49] Speaker 1: I don't think Gary Ridgway ever wanted to be like
[1:34:50] Speaker 1: on Dateline. But Gary Ridgeway still alive, still in prison,
[1:34:55] Speaker 1: and he had health issues. Actually this past December of
[1:34:58] Speaker 1: twenty twenty five, there were rapports that he was dying
[1:35:01] Speaker 1: in prison, but apparently those were exaggerated and he's fine.
[1:35:05] Speaker 1: And he was beaten for most prolific American serial killer
[1:35:10] Speaker 1: by Samuel A. Little, that guy that you reported on
[1:35:12] Speaker 1: when we did the they'd already disappeared episode. So but
[1:35:17] Speaker 1: Samuel Little has like ten or fifteen more than Gary Ridgeway.
[1:35:23] Speaker 1: So for some reason, I always thought Gary Ridgeway was
[1:35:25] Speaker 1: one hundred. I always thought he was like in the
[1:35:27] Speaker 1: double digits. But and that's just for the US. There's
[1:35:29] Speaker 1: more prolific serial killers outside of the US, but there are. Yeah,
[1:35:34] Speaker 1: when you look up the list of serial killers, it
[1:35:36] Speaker 1: gives you America.
[1:35:39] Speaker 4: Sadly, that's something I googled yesterday.
[1:35:41] Speaker 1: I hate to say it, but most prolific serial killers
[1:35:45] Speaker 1: if you go, if you go by number of victims,
[1:35:49] Speaker 1: there's some guy with one hundred and ninety four to
[1:35:51] Speaker 1: three hundred in Colombia, Ecuador and Venezuela somebody in Greece
[1:35:55] Speaker 1: with five hundred plus someone in Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, three
[1:35:59] Speaker 1: hundred plus one in Pakistan with one hundred, Russia eighty six.
[1:36:03] Speaker 2: One hundred and eighty. The Russia guy's name Mikail Popkoff. Yeah,
[1:36:08] Speaker 2: I think I watched the thing about.
[1:36:09] Speaker 4: Him ninety two to twenty ten, the Werewolf. Yeah, I saw.
[1:36:14] Speaker 2: Yeah, he was like in the cave because during their
[1:36:16] Speaker 2: courts they're in a cell.
[1:36:18] Speaker 1: He was convicted of twenty two but confessed to more
[1:36:23] Speaker 1: to fifty nine. Yeah, I know that face x cop.
[1:36:26] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[1:36:27] Speaker 1: So yeah, I mean there's even like there's China, Iran, India,
[1:36:30] Speaker 1: there's a lot, I mean one in Afghanistan three hundred
[1:36:33] Speaker 1: from the seventies, and then Samuel little is Our is
[1:36:38] Speaker 1: our number one, and then Gary Ridgeway. Yeah, US doesn't
[1:36:43] Speaker 1: even really have that many many more in the top.
[1:36:47] Speaker 1: We don't have any more in the top those two,
[1:36:51] Speaker 1: which is crazy because I do consider the US to
[1:36:53] Speaker 1: be a big serial killer place. That's that. That's that
[1:36:57] Speaker 1: on that. Yeah, I didn't think it was Ted Bundy
[1:37:01] Speaker 1: because Ted Bundy didn't necessarily go after sex workers like
[1:37:04] Speaker 1: in the same way and like he was he went
[1:37:08] Speaker 1: after and all.
[1:37:09] Speaker 2: The game playing like the ideally in all of that. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
[1:37:16] Speaker 2: I've heard of the Green River and I didn't know
[1:37:19] Speaker 2: one single thing about him.
[1:37:21] Speaker 1: Yeah, and he looks I mean obviously when you see
[1:37:23] Speaker 1: him in his shackles and everything, just like a fucking
[1:37:26] Speaker 1: I Just the thing I remember about the Green River
[1:37:28] Speaker 1: Killer is always hearing once he married his wife, he
[1:37:30] Speaker 1: basically stopped killing, like and that was always so crazy
[1:37:34] Speaker 1: to me because it's like, I didn't know true love
[1:37:37] Speaker 1: could stop you from being a serial killer. I thought
[1:37:39] Speaker 1: it was like a compulsion, you know, didn't completely stop him,
[1:37:43] Speaker 1: but three out of forty nine and there were definitely
[1:37:45] Speaker 1: more than that. That's so interesting. Yeah, so and just
[1:37:51] Speaker 1: really creepy him and BTK like they they because they
[1:37:55] Speaker 1: referenced they referenced BTK in this episode, but like I
[1:37:58] Speaker 1: don't think in a just in a compare and serial
[1:38:00] Speaker 1: killer kind of way, but BTK, Gary Ridgeway's wife, Both
[1:38:03] Speaker 1: of them, their wives had like no idea. It wasn't like, oh,
[1:38:07] Speaker 1: he beat me up all the time and he was
[1:38:08] Speaker 1: a psycho and he always wanted to have like rough
[1:38:11] Speaker 1: sexual like encounters Like I mean, these women mostly reported
[1:38:17] Speaker 1: they were a good husband. You know, that's creepy to
[1:38:20] Speaker 1: think that you're just like living a life.
[1:38:22] Speaker 4: Alaska Baker was like that too.
[1:38:24] Speaker 1: Yeah I think maybe too. Yeah, he had like two
[1:38:27] Speaker 1: kids and a wife, right, like not no one suspected him.
[1:38:31] Speaker 1: But all right, but no guests today, so let's just
[1:38:35] Speaker 1: move on to our post mortem.
[1:38:40] Speaker 2: I mean, this is a jam packed episode, Like, honestly,
[1:38:44] Speaker 2: I mean, my regular person gets murdered. We have Deborah
[1:38:48] Speaker 2: Messing on one, lots of locations, lots of cameras, lots
[1:38:52] Speaker 2: of fun lots of fun lines, lots of funny lines.
[1:38:56] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, a lot of really funny lines. And honestly,
[1:39:02] Speaker 1: it's kind of crazy to me that it took till
[1:39:04] Speaker 1: season twelve for them to.
[1:39:07] Speaker 2: Do to catch a predator thing. You know, yeah, I
[1:39:11] Speaker 2: guess you're right. But that's how we're feeling with the Housewives.
[1:39:14] Speaker 2: I think it's because it's all NBC properties and so
[1:39:17] Speaker 2: they're going to be more strict about it. I think
[1:39:19] Speaker 2: that's why we're not getting Housewives stuff. I think they
[1:39:24] Speaker 2: don't want to like talk about NBC things because they
[1:39:27] Speaker 2: had a fucking trump one right for the season and
[1:39:29] Speaker 2: they're not doing it. Or about ice, like NBC plays
[1:39:32] Speaker 2: some fucking games. Yeah, I mean the fact that CBS
[1:39:35] Speaker 2: is it news anymore, that polls are stopping, that the Post,
[1:39:38] Speaker 2: it's like, it's all just really crumbling.
[1:39:41] Speaker 4: Awa.
[1:39:44] Speaker 1: They eliminated the entire sports section at the Post right
[1:39:47] Speaker 1: before the Olympics. A bunch of these reporters are like,
[1:39:50] Speaker 1: our tickets are already purchased and we're going like they're
[1:39:53] Speaker 1: like reporting the Olympics for themselves, I guess, And it's
[1:39:56] Speaker 1: because all the American athletes are pissed and are again
[1:40:00] Speaker 1: this administration.
[1:40:01] Speaker 4: Is that why?
[1:40:01] Speaker 1: No, I think it's just the bezos did huge cuts
[1:40:04] Speaker 1: at the Washington Post, so no more sports and that's that,
[1:40:07] Speaker 1: I guess.
[1:40:08] Speaker 2: Yeah, because he needs a little more money. Yeah, let's
[1:40:11] Speaker 2: cut some.
[1:40:12] Speaker 1: Corner so he can buy his wife a new like
[1:40:14] Speaker 1: face or whatever she needs.
[1:40:17] Speaker 4: Oh fucked up.
[1:40:19] Speaker 2: Oh so I had to go to the Genius bar again. Obviously. Basically,
[1:40:23] Speaker 2: he was like, you've got too many tabs. He put
[1:40:26] Speaker 2: the thing up, he goes, look at how many tabs
[1:40:27] Speaker 2: are open. He goes, it just can't run on these tabs,
[1:40:31] Speaker 2: So I have to I have to minimize it because
[1:40:34] Speaker 2: I've told him I go usually have like forty tabs
[1:40:36] Speaker 2: open minimum meant multiple screens, split screens.
[1:40:39] Speaker 4: There's always well, there's always a project. I'm always typing.
[1:40:42] Speaker 1: I mean, at this moment, I have one, two, three, four, five, six,
[1:40:47] Speaker 1: seven browser windows open, and in each browser window I
[1:40:50] Speaker 1: have multiple tabs open.
[1:40:53] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[1:40:53] Speaker 2: Yeah, right now I only have one window and it
[1:40:56] Speaker 2: has one two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twell, thirteen, fourteen, sixteen.
[1:41:02] Speaker 1: But that's not like a slow day for you. Oh,
[1:41:06] Speaker 1: I you not searching the internet today much.
[1:41:12] Speaker 2: So. I was at the Genius Bar. I'm gonna I'm
[1:41:14] Speaker 2: gonna unlock a new fear for everybody. The guy was fun,
[1:41:17] Speaker 2: we were having some fun. Asked, you know, we were laughing,
[1:41:20] Speaker 2: and I go, do you ever find some dirty stuff?
[1:41:24] Speaker 2: I'm like, what do you find? Like have you ever
[1:41:25] Speaker 2: opened the laptop? And it's like how do people act?
[1:41:28] Speaker 2: And he goes, oh, well, you know sometimes you open
[1:41:31] Speaker 2: it and bed bugs will come out, and I want
[1:41:36] Speaker 2: excuse me, and he goes, yeah, they like hot, warm
[1:41:40] Speaker 2: places and they can get under the buttons and it's
[1:41:42] Speaker 2: warm and nice in there, and if it's on the bed,
[1:41:45] Speaker 2: they hop on in the way.
[1:41:47] Speaker 1: I just fully gasped and fell backwards. That is so horrific.
[1:41:52] Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, he said cockroaches and I go, oh, I
[1:41:56] Speaker 2: was thinking more poor not animals.
[1:41:59] Speaker 4: But they thank you for ruining my life.
[1:42:01] Speaker 2: And he said no, when I open it and it's porn,
[1:42:05] Speaker 2: they are unbothered.
[1:42:07] Speaker 4: It's usually people that are unbothered.
[1:42:09] Speaker 1: Yeah. One time, Jared's computer when he was watching porn,
[1:42:13] Speaker 1: got that like fully shot the bed and got that
[1:42:15] Speaker 1: like folder with the question mark. And I was like, hey,
[1:42:17] Speaker 1: I'm gonna bring it to the Genius Bar and just
[1:42:18] Speaker 1: see if they can, you know, revive it, and then
[1:42:22] Speaker 1: I'll just donate it if they can't. And he goes,
[1:42:24] Speaker 1: but like, the last thing I was watching isn't going
[1:42:26] Speaker 1: to pop up, is it? And I was like, no,
[1:42:28] Speaker 1: I don't think it works like that. When your computer
[1:42:30] Speaker 1: completely shits the bed, it's not like the battery ran out.
[1:42:33] Speaker 1: He was like really concerned.
[1:42:35] Speaker 2: No, but it's also like the Genius Bars, so like,
[1:42:38] Speaker 2: my laptop's not been working for how long a while
[1:42:41] Speaker 2: I've been complaining, you know. He goes, well, we can,
[1:42:44] Speaker 2: you can leave it with us to repair. It'll take
[1:42:46] Speaker 2: five to seven days. In what world are people giving
[1:42:50] Speaker 2: up their laptops for five to seven days. Do you
[1:42:52] Speaker 2: have a loaner? Is this like a rental car situation?
[1:42:54] Speaker 2: And I asked that and he laughed, and I go, well,
[1:42:56] Speaker 2: are you really? I'm like, everyone worked, like what are
[1:42:58] Speaker 2: you expecting me to do? And then I planned when
[1:43:01] Speaker 2: I could kind of get rid of it, and I
[1:43:03] Speaker 2: go but then I fly out that Tuesday. Can I
[1:43:05] Speaker 2: guarantee it by Monday? He goes no, and I'm like
[1:43:07] Speaker 2: what or like, I mean, I went off. I obviously
[1:43:10] Speaker 2: went off on a full tangent. I was pissed. I'm pissed.
[1:43:14] Speaker 4: Can you find do you know anybody that maybe has two?
[1:43:16] Speaker 1: You could just borrow one? Sure?
[1:43:19] Speaker 2: You know, I'm gonna wait until this crashes my life?
[1:43:22] Speaker 2: Is I bought a thing to external? I bought an
[1:43:23] Speaker 2: external hard Yeah?
[1:43:24] Speaker 1: Okay? Good?
[1:43:25] Speaker 4: So he was like if I was Carrie Bradshaw, He's like,
[1:43:28] Speaker 4: you know you gotta back this up. I go, okay,
[1:43:31] Speaker 4: I'm like I'll buy it.
[1:43:32] Speaker 2: So I know, I'll just wait till one fateful day
[1:43:37] Speaker 2: when I panic, and then I'll.
[1:43:38] Speaker 4: Have to buy a new laptop.
[1:43:40] Speaker 1: Okay, that's another plan too.
[1:43:41] Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I.
[1:43:43] Speaker 2: Think that's what's gonna happen, or maybe if I have
[1:43:45] Speaker 2: a fun trip coming up where I don't need my laptop,
[1:43:47] Speaker 2: Like what are you talking about? Like I need my
[1:43:49] Speaker 2: laptop like five to seven day.
[1:43:52] Speaker 1: If it was like if it was just a day
[1:43:53] Speaker 1: that you were traveling and you just needed laptop for
[1:43:56] Speaker 1: like movies and stuff, you could borrow one or an
[1:44:00] Speaker 1: iPad from somebody, and then like, I don't know.
[1:44:03] Speaker 4: Oh you know, I'm so tech stupid. I didn't even
[1:44:06] Speaker 4: think because like i'mter.
[1:44:08] Speaker 1: Just thing you wouldn't need it for like your work
[1:44:10] Speaker 1: at it allegedly in this week that we're finding where
[1:44:13] Speaker 1: you don't have like a lot of actual work to
[1:44:15] Speaker 1: do on it.
[1:44:17] Speaker 4: Anyway, just to get rope it back into.
[1:44:20] Speaker 2: The post morning, really, quays, I just thought i'd bring
[1:44:22] Speaker 2: up the bed bug thing to upset the mass.
[1:44:26] Speaker 1: That is so upsetting. Also, though, there's a scene in
[1:44:29] Speaker 1: the Pit where Casey, are you watching the pit at all?
[1:44:33] Speaker 1: And I'm so good you guys, but there's a an
[1:44:35] Speaker 1: unwatch a.
[1:44:36] Speaker 4: Pit before he watches heat a rivalry. I don't know
[1:44:39] Speaker 4: if I don't.
[1:44:41] Speaker 1: Know the opposite vibe for each other, you the pit
[1:44:45] Speaker 1: is the heated rivalry is the antidote for the Pit.
[1:44:49] Speaker 4: I would watch Heated Rivalry first, just out of fear.
[1:44:52] Speaker 1: Yeah, and it's quick. I mean it's fifteen episodes the
[1:44:55] Speaker 1: first thing of the Pit, and they're like heart stopping
[1:44:58] Speaker 1: like so, but there's one where an Unhou's guy gets
[1:45:02] Speaker 1: brought in and when they open his jacket, three rats
[1:45:04] Speaker 1: run out. So it reminded me a little bit of
[1:45:06] Speaker 1: your And then there are three rats running around the
[1:45:09] Speaker 1: er for a lot of it and they have to
[1:45:10] Speaker 1: figure it out.
[1:45:11] Speaker 4: But back to this the post Warner on today's episode.
[1:45:15] Speaker 1: I mean, I've always, for some reason had a real
[1:45:18] Speaker 1: I'm not gonna say favorite serial killer that's like Psycho,
[1:45:21] Speaker 1: but I've always had a real like fascination with Gary Ridgeway,
[1:45:24] Speaker 1: like how he was able to do it for so long,
[1:45:27] Speaker 1: so many victims, and then just like stopped when he
[1:45:30] Speaker 1: was happy with his wife.
[1:45:31] Speaker 2: Like it's so strange to a social gathering, because it
[1:45:35] Speaker 2: really was. It feels like it goes against everything we
[1:45:39] Speaker 2: know about serial killers. Like I do a full stand
[1:45:41] Speaker 2: up joke about how Ted Bundy had a girlfriend the
[1:45:43] Speaker 2: entire time he was killing.
[1:45:45] Speaker 4: It wasn't like he was this in cell who never
[1:45:48] Speaker 4: had any female.
[1:45:49] Speaker 1: Attention, like he had a full girlfriend and he was
[1:45:51] Speaker 1: basically playing step dad to her child.
[1:45:54] Speaker 4: That's our next merch.
[1:45:56] Speaker 2: Hot guys can kill two yeah, hot guys kill yeah.
[1:46:00] Speaker 2: Haw guys are killings. None of them are hot. Ted
[1:46:03] Speaker 2: Bundy is not even hot. You know, Richard Mirez is
[1:46:05] Speaker 2: the only hot guy. Yeah. But because Luigi is innocent,
[1:46:11] Speaker 2: So it's like, is kind of the ultimate happy wife,
[1:46:14] Speaker 2: happy life guy.
[1:46:15] Speaker 1: I mean, he like literally stopped killing. So I don't
[1:46:20] Speaker 1: know if you and I mean his I liked that
[1:46:23] Speaker 1: his wife also, she was probably just like willing to
[1:46:26] Speaker 1: have sex all the time and never watch the news.
[1:46:28] Speaker 4: He was like, you are my dream woman, Like she
[1:46:30] Speaker 4: never watched the news.
[1:46:31] Speaker 1: She had no idea that sex workers were disappearing like
[1:46:34] Speaker 1: at a at a clip.
[1:46:36] Speaker 2: Well that I'm sorry, I keep changing the subject, but
[1:46:38] Speaker 2: I think you're gonna like this. I texted my niece
[1:46:40] Speaker 2: and nef. I texted my niece and nephews this photo
[1:46:44] Speaker 2: and I said, I want this for my birthday and
[1:46:45] Speaker 2: they said they're going to make it happen. So it's
[1:46:47] Speaker 2: a Camo sweatshirt and it says I'm not just an aunt,
[1:46:51] Speaker 2: I'm also a bitch.
[1:46:58] Speaker 1: Oh my god, they have to get that for you,
[1:47:01] Speaker 1: you have to pose with them in it, like that's
[1:47:03] Speaker 1: They actually even texted me after I said that, I'm like, okay, okay,
[1:47:07] Speaker 1: that's good. That's so freaking good. Oh my god.
[1:47:11] Speaker 4: I know my algorithm knows me so well.
[1:47:13] Speaker 2: It's like I understand how people are like trying to
[1:47:15] Speaker 2: fuck AI robots like I do. My phone just knows
[1:47:18] Speaker 2: what makes me feel good because it's like heat a rivalry,
[1:47:21] Speaker 2: heat arrival. Then it's like, here's a wholesome all star moment.
[1:47:24] Speaker 2: Here's the thing about your being an aunt. You know what,
[1:47:27] Speaker 2: here's a penguin.
[1:47:28] Speaker 1: Are you successfully reprogramming your algorithm towards things that you
[1:47:32] Speaker 1: like that are not making you furious? Are you getting
[1:47:35] Speaker 1: less furious stuff? Yeah?
[1:47:37] Speaker 4: I told you this obsession is for the better. Yeah
[1:47:40] Speaker 4: my phone?
[1:47:40] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, wow.
[1:47:43] Speaker 4: I was.
[1:47:44] Speaker 1: I'll admit I haven't seen you go. Usually I see
[1:47:46] Speaker 1: when you're going at someone in the comments. No.
[1:47:48] Speaker 2: No, I've actually been going way to go like I've been.
[1:47:52] Speaker 2: I've been commenting to wow, like your look is beautiful. No,
[1:47:56] Speaker 2: people have been like why did you Why are you
[1:47:58] Speaker 2: up so early? I go, Yeah, I just get up.
[1:48:00] Speaker 2: I just get up a few heated rivalry memes is
[1:48:02] Speaker 2: all I need. I don't even hit snooze anymore.
[1:48:04] Speaker 4: I'm up there.
[1:48:05] Speaker 1: Rewired your DNA in a weird way. It really has,
[1:48:09] Speaker 1: it really has.
[1:48:13] Speaker 2: Oh my god. All right, well, I mean I gotta
[1:48:16] Speaker 2: keep it going. I will be honest. I did not
[1:48:17] Speaker 2: unpack from Sacramento. There is a clothing pile. But you
[1:48:21] Speaker 2: know you're also leaving again very soon. I think it's
[1:48:24] Speaker 2: different when you're not hunting a great soon. Progress is
[1:48:27] Speaker 2: not a straight line.
[1:48:28] Speaker 1: Yes, agree, and you're leaving kind of soon, so I
[1:48:31] Speaker 1: can understand why You're like, I got to store through
[1:48:33] Speaker 1: this repack.
[1:48:34] Speaker 2: Well, now I booked someone to come clean my apartment
[1:48:38] Speaker 2: my girl, my girl, Tony. But I actually texted her.
[1:48:43] Speaker 2: I'm like, hey girl, what time are you coming Thursday?
[1:48:44] Speaker 2: And she goes, is this for me? And I'm like,
[1:48:46] Speaker 2: should I be more formal? Like my bath?
[1:48:48] Speaker 1: Like she didn't.
[1:48:49] Speaker 4: I don't know if she loved it, but so I
[1:48:52] Speaker 4: have to clean for her. But I want to.
[1:48:54] Speaker 2: I want everything clean before my big Grammarcy show this weekend.
[1:48:57] Speaker 2: O I have hair and makeup come to the house,
[1:49:00] Speaker 2: So I just want everything really spick and sweet.
[1:49:02] Speaker 4: Did you talk about it at the beginning of the episode.
[1:49:04] Speaker 2: I don't think I did. But it's past, so you'll
[1:49:06] Speaker 2: hear about how it went next O. Well, it'll be
[1:49:09] Speaker 2: have been passed.
[1:49:09] Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah yeah.
[1:49:11] Speaker 4: No worries, worries or time day. I'm not linear either,
[1:49:14] Speaker 4: that's right. It's this weekend. Okay, Well, hey, break a leg.
[1:49:17] Speaker 1: I can't wait.
[1:49:18] Speaker 4: I don't know what I'm wearing. I'm not buying anything new.
[1:49:20] Speaker 2: I'm trying to make it be like this is what
[1:49:22] Speaker 2: I would wear, but I have no idea what I'm
[1:49:24] Speaker 2: gonna do. But I refuse to buy anything new. Really, yeah,
[1:49:30] Speaker 2: I'm not buying you something new. I said, I want
[1:49:32] Speaker 2: to cut my spending in half, and I was serious.
[1:49:35] Speaker 1: Why don't you wear? Can you?
[1:49:37] Speaker 4: Can you build a cue outfit around the heated rivalry
[1:49:39] Speaker 4: crop top?
[1:49:40] Speaker 2: I can't have that. No, because it's also Boston and
[1:49:43] Speaker 2: it's my big New York show, so I can't. I
[1:49:44] Speaker 2: would never do that, you dumb bitch. No, I'm gonna
[1:49:50] Speaker 2: i't off the cities. No. I I might take one
[1:49:59] Speaker 2: of my heat a Ride Alry shirt.
[1:50:00] Speaker 4: It's to just take some photos.
[1:50:01] Speaker 2: Since I hired Mindy Tucker, the best in the biz,
[1:50:04] Speaker 2: to take photos, but no, I want to make it
[1:50:08] Speaker 2: about me. You know, it's like my show. Yeah you'll
[1:50:10] Speaker 2: find some that about them, but I'm not buying anything new.
[1:50:13] Speaker 2: And Survival of the Thickest gave me a lot of
[1:50:15] Speaker 2: my wardrobe to keep, maybe something more exactly like I'm
[1:50:19] Speaker 2: gonna I'm gonna like see what I have and figure
[1:50:22] Speaker 2: it out.
[1:50:23] Speaker 4: Amazing.
[1:50:25] Speaker 2: Just in case any of you thought I was out
[1:50:26] Speaker 2: here spending up a storm, I have not bought anything
[1:50:30] Speaker 2: that was not a gift or heated rivalry related killing
[1:50:35] Speaker 2: it all right, and we.
[1:50:38] Speaker 1: Get into let's get into what would sister Peg do?
[1:50:41] Speaker 2: This is our I'm sorry I wouldn't let you have
[1:50:43] Speaker 2: a full post mortem. I'm sorry I refuse to talk
[1:50:46] Speaker 2: about steps and predator. I mean to talk a little
[1:50:49] Speaker 2: bit episode.
[1:50:50] Speaker 1: The original concept of post mortem was like what did
[1:50:53] Speaker 1: we learn from the episode? And I think it's like,
[1:50:55] Speaker 1: I guess, don't make sure your husband's not a serial killer,
[1:50:59] Speaker 1: like you know, that's all you know, that's all we
[1:51:03] Speaker 1: kind of learned from this one or that To Catch
[1:51:08] Speaker 1: Your Predator was wildly only on for like a very
[1:51:13] Speaker 1: short amount of time. It feels like such a huge
[1:51:14] Speaker 1: part of the culture Anyway, let's get into what would
[1:51:18] Speaker 1: Sister peg Do, our weekly segment where we direct you
[1:51:20] Speaker 1: towards an article, an organization, a documentary, something you can
