## Transcript

[0:00] Speaker 1: Of the Law and Order franchises. SVU is considered especially watchable.
[0:04] Speaker 2: We are the amateur detectives who kind of investigate the
[0:07] Speaker 2: vicious felonies. These episodes are based on. These are our stories.
[0:10] Speaker 3: Done Done, Hello, and welcome to That's Messed Up.
[0:32] Speaker 4: I'm one of your hosts, Kara Clink and.
[0:34] Speaker 2: I'm Liza Trigger, and we're here talking SVU, True crimes,
[0:38] Speaker 2: celeb guests, Action adventure, gossip, chats.
[0:46] Speaker 4: WhatsApp, what's up.
[0:49] Speaker 1: We're recording this the day after Oscar's birthday, so I
[0:54] Speaker 1: have a bit of a throwing a barbecue hangover, but
[0:59] Speaker 1: I'm taking him to dine next week.
[1:01] Speaker 4: So that's the real party, the real parties next week. Well, yeah,
[1:05] Speaker 4: I guess.
[1:06] Speaker 2: So you did a like a Memorial Day birthday combo
[1:10] Speaker 2: or no mention of Memorial.
[1:12] Speaker 1: Day, not really any mention of Memorial Day, and honestly, like,
[1:15] Speaker 1: I really wanted it to be very small. And then
[1:17] Speaker 1: he was like, I just want to invite five girls
[1:19] Speaker 1: from my class. And I was like, none of you
[1:21] Speaker 1: are like the boys, because I know you're friends with
[1:23] Speaker 1: some boys in your class.
[1:24] Speaker 4: He's like, Nope, just these five girls.
[1:26] Speaker 1: And I was like, well, I'll invite everybody and like,
[1:28] Speaker 1: I bet it's Memorial Day, people can't come, And then
[1:30] Speaker 1: four out of five could come, So it turned into
[1:32] Speaker 1: like a bigger thing than I thought. But it was
[1:35] Speaker 1: really cute because he's really into princess dresses and stuff.
[1:39] Speaker 4: He got an Elsa dress for his birthday.
[1:40] Speaker 1: He got this beautiful butterfly dress that I paid out
[1:43] Speaker 1: of the nose for.
[1:44] Speaker 2: And then how much our butterfly dresses going the Honestly,
[1:48] Speaker 2: it was in the high sixties.
[1:50] Speaker 4: I was just surprised for like a size five little
[1:53] Speaker 4: kid dress.
[1:54] Speaker 1: Like it was so because it's like it's like a costume,
[1:57] Speaker 1: but he looks like he looks really pretty in it.
[1:59] Speaker 1: But he wanted dresses. And then all these girls came
[2:02] Speaker 1: to the party and they wore dresses, and one girl
[2:05] Speaker 1: brought a bunch of dresses for the girls that didn't
[2:07] Speaker 1: so they all like dressed up and it turned into
[2:09] Speaker 1: this little cutie princess party. It was really cute.
[2:13] Speaker 4: The cake was there, Like the cake was it princess
[2:16] Speaker 4: or like what the cake was?
[2:17] Speaker 1: Ariel Okay specifically requested even though he wanted an Elsa dress,
[2:22] Speaker 1: he wanted an aerial cake. He's really an equal opportunity.
[2:25] Speaker 2: Princess fan from the waters to the frozen yes, exactly,
[2:31] Speaker 2: to the frozen peaks of.
[2:32] Speaker 4: Aarondel to the deep water. Well.
[2:34] Speaker 2: When I was in that New Orleans swamp store, there
[2:36] Speaker 2: was one tree that I guess they used in Princess
[2:39] Speaker 2: and the Frog. It's like a famous kind of squirrely
[2:42] Speaker 2: dirly like tree, a lot of brand branch. It has
[2:45] Speaker 2: a lot of branches in character.
[2:47] Speaker 1: We're he's really looking forward to doing the Tiana ride,
[2:52] Speaker 1: the Princess of the Frog ride at Disney.
[2:54] Speaker 4: It's like a new.
[2:56] Speaker 2: Okay, wait, it's like a log so it'll be the
[2:58] Speaker 2: two of you at Disney, kind of recreating you know,
[3:02] Speaker 2: older sister stuff. Yeah, Tiana, Okay, I'm excited. I'm excited
[3:07] Speaker 2: to see what what thing he chooses to buy.
[3:10] Speaker 1: Yes, yes, his one thing. It's gonna be tough for him,
[3:14] Speaker 1: but yeah, he's excited. He really wants Tiana. Apparently, you
[3:16] Speaker 1: get really wet, so I'm like, gonna just have to
[3:19] Speaker 1: bring separate like new clothes.
[3:20] Speaker 4: I don't know.
[3:21] Speaker 1: A friend gave us some ponchos because she was like,
[3:23] Speaker 1: be prepared. You get really wet, and.
[3:29] Speaker 2: Yeah, so full full birthday magic.
[3:34] Speaker 1: Yeah, full birthday, magic accomplished. He had a great day.
[3:36] Speaker 1: He had he really was.
[3:38] Speaker 4: Is Gabby's dollhouse out?
[3:40] Speaker 1: No, he's still into it, but it's like taking a
[3:43] Speaker 1: back seat to princess stuff right now, like just really
[3:46] Speaker 1: finding Sophia the first on Disney, like all these like
[3:49] Speaker 1: new little princes Sofia, Yeah, yeah, I mean Rosie doesn't
[3:54] Speaker 1: allow it, so it has to be when he's like
[3:55] Speaker 1: alone or she's busy or something, you know, so it's interest.
[4:00] Speaker 1: Doesn't she allow anything princess. She won't watch a movie
[4:03] Speaker 1: with a princess, like, she won't like she's like, we
[4:05] Speaker 1: can't watch Frozen. We get so he has to watch this.
[4:07] Speaker 1: If he gets up before her, he can start watching stuff.
[4:10] Speaker 1: And then if she comes out, we have to keep
[4:12] Speaker 1: it on.
[4:13] Speaker 4: What is it? Pokemon? What do you want?
[4:15] Speaker 1: Obsessed with Pokemon right now? Obsessed? Did I talk about this?
[4:20] Speaker 2: Yeah, but I you know Pokemon, there's never it never ends.
[4:24] Speaker 2: There's so much it never ends.
[4:26] Speaker 1: She has a full book now, a full album with
[4:28] Speaker 1: all the cards. And then for Oscar's birthday, we wanted
[4:31] Speaker 1: to get her something so she wouldn't be like super jealous,
[4:33] Speaker 1: and Jared got her this Pokemon set and now she's
[4:35] Speaker 1: like even more more obsessed. It just keeps going down
[4:38] Speaker 1: and down, and when she draws, she's just drawing different Pokemons.
[4:42] Speaker 4: It's like wild.
[4:43] Speaker 1: Well. I took her to a birthday party, like at
[4:45] Speaker 1: a bere on like Saturday that was like kids welcome.
[4:48] Speaker 1: She sat at a table and drew Pokemon the entire time, like,
[4:50] Speaker 1: didn't talk to anyone, didn't make a scene, didn't run around,
[4:53] Speaker 1: sat and drew Pokemon.
[4:54] Speaker 4: They've really taken over. Yeah, yeah, they're obsessed.
[4:58] Speaker 2: I don't know what if the Internet is real or not,
[5:01] Speaker 2: but I saw there's like an exhibit of Pokemon skeletons
[5:07] Speaker 2: what so it's like dinosaurs, but it's like the Pokemon
[5:10] Speaker 2: skeleton bodies, so exactly.
[5:15] Speaker 4: Yeah bodies.
[5:17] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, so it's kind of like spooky with the
[5:20] Speaker 1: bones and you know, fun with the pokemons. Pokemon Fossil
[5:25] Speaker 1: exhibit to debut in North America at Chicago's Field Museum.
[5:30] Speaker 2: That makes sense, That makes sense, Yeah, because kids don't
[5:33] Speaker 2: want to learn anymore. So it's like, here are the
[5:35] Speaker 2: bones of this cartoon, and maybe that'll get the funding going.
[5:41] Speaker 1: So true, maybe this will spark some joy in palaeontology,
[5:45] Speaker 1: but maybe not well.
[5:47] Speaker 2: Also, when I saw on the internet, I'm so anti AI.
[5:50] Speaker 2: I'm like against AI so much, I hate it. But
[5:53] Speaker 2: I did find a corner of AI that I am
[5:56] Speaker 2: very into. And it's basically like Atlanta Housewives reunions. But
[6:01] Speaker 2: they're all babies. Yes, it's the junk box. It's the
[6:04] Speaker 2: junk box AI stuff. Yeah, there's like that.
[6:07] Speaker 4: They're the thing.
[6:10] Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure they're the same people who made the
[6:12] Speaker 1: like SVU babies and like the Sopranos babies and the
[6:15] Speaker 1: Sex and the City's babies.
[6:16] Speaker 4: Like I watched one too, I watched one We're Fit where.
[6:20] Speaker 2: One I wish just one, I mean a.
[6:23] Speaker 4: Baby.
[6:24] Speaker 2: Yeah, I just love them joggers.
[6:28] Speaker 4: I watch the joggers.
[6:31] Speaker 2: And they're like they have sippy cups and legos and
[6:34] Speaker 2: like funny things in their hands as they're doing it.
[6:36] Speaker 4: It's just like kind of a blessing.
[6:38] Speaker 1: I guess it's like that's the kind of thing that
[6:41] Speaker 1: is funny and not okay, But it's a little bit
[6:44] Speaker 1: more excusable because it's not like anybody could really get
[6:47] Speaker 1: babies to do all that, Like you could never dress
[6:50] Speaker 1: up babies and get them to lips in you know,
[6:52] Speaker 1: we're not stealing someone's art. Like you could not dress
[6:54] Speaker 1: up babies and have them lips and housewives scenes they're
[6:57] Speaker 1: too small and yeah, but you can do like there's
[7:00] Speaker 1: other ways to make it without AI, Like there's anime,
[7:03] Speaker 1: you know what I mean.
[7:04] Speaker 4: I'm still anti AI, yes, but not live action.
[7:07] Speaker 1: If you want to see and have the joy of
[7:08] Speaker 1: what you watched, that's the only way to do it
[7:11] Speaker 1: is through it.
[7:12] Speaker 2: No way, they just did a live action Lilo and Stitch, Like,
[7:16] Speaker 2: there's other ways to make I guess, yeah.
[7:18] Speaker 4: You could do fully computer generated.
[7:24] Speaker 2: Anyways. I did see Beyonce. I went to Beyonce, I
[7:28] Speaker 2: went to you Deaf, I did. I went Sunday Nights
[7:31] Speaker 2: to Beyond Way and it was, I mean incredible, truly
[7:37] Speaker 2: incredible in all most stunning person, most beautiful voice, amazing outfits, dancing,
[7:45] Speaker 2: the video, like everything is incredible. I know.
[7:47] Speaker 1: I'm so bummed because she did about seventy five dates
[7:50] Speaker 1: in LA and the tickets were so available at the end,
[7:54] Speaker 1: and I just, you know, I need to plan, Like
[7:57] Speaker 1: I can't just be like all right, I'm going tonight.
[7:59] Speaker 1: I mean, I can sell times, but it was too
[8:01] Speaker 1: hard when she was here, I just couldn't make it work.
[8:04] Speaker 1: But I'm sad because now everybody says how awesome it is, Well.
[8:07] Speaker 4: That's no surprise, you know, it is Beyonce. I don't know,
[8:09] Speaker 4: I thought.
[8:10] Speaker 2: I didn't think it was gonna be Yeah, I knew
[8:12] Speaker 2: it was gonna be incredible, but I was like, I
[8:15] Speaker 2: don't know, crying probably instantly. But she also she just
[8:19] Speaker 2: gets it because it's like goga where it's like, yeah,
[8:22] Speaker 2: put on a little video, let us run to pee.
[8:25] Speaker 2: So I even got to pee once, so that was
[8:27] Speaker 2: like really exciting for me as well. Like she just
[8:29] Speaker 2: like she just lets us have sitting breaks, and I
[8:32] Speaker 2: appreciate that. And it's just funny when people when the
[8:36] Speaker 2: fan base is older. It's like when I went to
[8:37] Speaker 2: a backstort, it's just like everyone was behaved, like everyone
[8:40] Speaker 2: just looked cute, but I only saw one drunk person.
[8:43] Speaker 2: I mean, I'm sure people were drinking, but everyone was
[8:45] Speaker 2: just like so happy to be.
[8:47] Speaker 4: There and behaved.
[8:48] Speaker 2: So it's like it's just funny because I think about
[8:51] Speaker 2: myself as a teen and I just was like a menace,
[8:55] Speaker 2: a menace at these concerts and I just don't even
[8:58] Speaker 2: see the teens being menace.
[9:00] Speaker 4: But maybe there's somewhere else, you know, But yeah, I
[9:02] Speaker 4: was a menace too.
[9:03] Speaker 1: I lit a cigarette out of Britney Spears concert, like
[9:06] Speaker 1: what the fuck?
[9:07] Speaker 4: Like Christop.
[9:08] Speaker 2: It was also my first time I met life and
[9:10] Speaker 2: I really enjoyed the wind, like I liked feeling outside,
[9:14] Speaker 2: like I liked being in the open air. And she
[9:18] Speaker 2: flies around a couple times in cool objects.
[9:21] Speaker 4: And wait, where's my life?
[9:23] Speaker 2: It's Jersey, but it's where the football teams play, the
[9:27] Speaker 2: Jets and the Giant Okay, I got it.
[9:29] Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, but pretty easy to get to.
[9:33] Speaker 2: I mean, obviously pandemonium after the concert, but like really
[9:37] Speaker 2: easy to get Oh, I'm actually a genie. I had
[9:41] Speaker 2: my eyes open because I had depeat. I did drink
[9:44] Speaker 2: before the concert, and I had to pee. But I
[9:46] Speaker 2: found the perfect like I mean, the driver was a
[9:49] Speaker 2: little confused, but I made him pull over. I found
[9:52] Speaker 2: like a space and there was like a construction site
[9:55] Speaker 2: with one big bush. It was like it was like
[9:58] Speaker 2: a place that said like Lisa p here. It was
[10:00] Speaker 2: kind of crazy. It was like a triangle of cement
[10:03] Speaker 2: enclosures with a giant bush. But Julia said she could
[10:07] Speaker 2: see the top of my hair over like the cements.
[10:11] Speaker 1: But I even got to like pee before we got there,
[10:14] Speaker 1: which was like a thrill, which was a thrill.
[10:16] Speaker 2: I mixed a lot of denims. Everyone looked cute. I
[10:19] Speaker 2: think I love a theme. I love a theme, like
[10:21] Speaker 2: I feel I wasn't a part of BRAT, but like
[10:23] Speaker 2: with the Eras tour, everyone everyone just like leaned in
[10:28] Speaker 2: and this is kind of more succinct, like everyone is
[10:32] Speaker 2: going for the country western vibe, you know.
[10:35] Speaker 4: Yeah, And I liked looking at everyone.
[10:37] Speaker 2: It was kind of an overstimulation of everyone's amazing act.
[10:40] Speaker 1: That's so funny that you just brought up BRAT Because
[10:42] Speaker 1: our friend was at the party last night and he's
[10:45] Speaker 1: working on a project with Charlie XCX, and he was like,
[10:48] Speaker 1: let me show you the first text Charlie xx sent me,
[10:50] Speaker 1: and he scrolled and they actually have a lot of
[10:52] Speaker 1: text messages together.
[10:53] Speaker 4: I was surprised.
[10:54] Speaker 1: And he went up, up, up, and when I get
[10:56] Speaker 1: to the top, it goes, hey, so and so this
[10:59] Speaker 1: is Charlie XCX.
[11:00] Speaker 4: He was just like, it's really, it's like that's not
[11:03] Speaker 4: your real name.
[11:04] Speaker 1: Like it's just funny to be like, hi, this is
[11:06] Speaker 1: Charlie XYX, like do you, Like, I wonder if Lady
[11:10] Speaker 1: Gaga writes people and it's like, hi, it's Lady Gaga,
[11:12] Speaker 1: Like no, but I think she says Gaga. Yeah, I
[11:15] Speaker 1: think she Gaga. Like I was surprised that she did
[11:17] Speaker 1: just say, like, hi, it's Charlie. But then it's like
[11:19] Speaker 1: you could know other people named Charlie.
[11:20] Speaker 2: So yeah, I was like watching a Charlie podcast with
[11:24] Speaker 2: Jack Shane Jake Shane, and she's just awesome.
[11:28] Speaker 1: I wish I didn't miss the Brat train. It just
[11:31] Speaker 1: was too aggressive for me. I mean, I was listening
[11:33] Speaker 1: to the album, but I wasn't. I didn't go to
[11:35] Speaker 1: the concert or anything.
[11:36] Speaker 4: I should have. I should have.
[11:38] Speaker 2: I just like everyone in one theme, I loved Beyonce.
[11:43] Speaker 2: I didn't really listen to this album so I can't
[11:46] Speaker 2: wait to get into it now and like really be
[11:48] Speaker 2: in it. Oh you know, late to the party, but
[11:50] Speaker 2: thrilled to me.
[11:51] Speaker 1: I think that was the other thing to me with
[11:52] Speaker 1: not going was that the album is good, but it's
[11:55] Speaker 1: not my favorite. Like I wish I'd gone to Renaissance, honestly,
[11:58] Speaker 1: Like I really wish I had gone to.
[12:00] Speaker 2: Yeah, there was a Renaissance portion of the concert that
[12:02] Speaker 2: was in. Yeah, there's also these like gold robot things
[12:06] Speaker 2: that I loved, and I don't know, there's just like
[12:08] Speaker 2: it just was too much. It was insane, and I
[12:11] Speaker 2: loved seeing the kids. It really was like otherworldly. I
[12:14] Speaker 2: don't know how to compare it, because I lose the
[12:16] Speaker 2: kids is like seeing like Beyonce but so hard. Oh
[12:21] Speaker 2: and then she did like a medley in the middle
[12:23] Speaker 2: of like all the hits and so. And I would
[12:25] Speaker 2: say the most electric moment was to the left, like
[12:28] Speaker 2: I would say to the left Renaissance, but to the
[12:31] Speaker 2: left is when for some reason it really took over
[12:34] Speaker 2: my spirit but irreplaceable.
[12:37] Speaker 4: And the visuals were good, I mean all around.
[12:40] Speaker 2: It's like it was just fucking fantastic and it was like,
[12:44] Speaker 2: I'm so glad I got to go.
[12:46] Speaker 1: Yeah, she's she's the best of what she does. She's amazing.
[12:51] Speaker 1: We'll see, maybe it'll come somewhere where I can go.
[12:53] Speaker 1: I mean, like I want something to play at the
[12:56] Speaker 1: sphere that I want to go to. Well, the Fact
[13:00] Speaker 1: and Grateful Dead, yeah, the Backstreet Boys. I don't know
[13:03] Speaker 1: if I'm gonna go.
[13:04] Speaker 4: I want Miley. I want Miley. I want Mia. Oh.
[13:07] Speaker 2: Wait, and then the AMA is like a big flop.
[13:10] Speaker 2: I don't know if you even care. Like I'm not
[13:11] Speaker 2: really into like the you know, second and third kind
[13:15] Speaker 2: of tier award shows, but you know, I like pop.
[13:20] Speaker 2: I want to see a dress, like, let's see what's up.
[13:23] Speaker 2: The AMAS were such a flop that six out of
[13:26] Speaker 2: the seven Album of the Year nominees didn't show up.
[13:29] Speaker 2: They could not even they only gave out six awards
[13:33] Speaker 2: because no one came, like ninety percent of the awards
[13:36] Speaker 2: could not be awarded because people just were not there
[13:40] Speaker 2: and tons of people did not even send videos, and.
[13:44] Speaker 4: Yeah, that's so sad. And then I woke up this morning.
[13:47] Speaker 1: The first thing I saw that was j Lo performed,
[13:50] Speaker 1: and things are not going great for j Loo either.
[13:52] Speaker 4: I did turn it on.
[13:53] Speaker 2: I had like during Memorial Day, and I wo I
[13:56] Speaker 2: watched Rene rap sing okay, but she seemed like she
[13:59] Speaker 2: didn't even want to be there, you know, like I
[14:01] Speaker 2: don't know, like she's so cool, but it just was like, ye, we.
[14:05] Speaker 1: Got a sunset some of these award shows. I mean,
[14:07] Speaker 1: like the age of the award show is not you know,
[14:10] Speaker 1: it's just not you know, no.
[14:12] Speaker 2: We just know too much about p R and all
[14:14] Speaker 2: the things and all of that, and it's just it
[14:19] Speaker 2: doesn't have the allure of when we really didn't see celebrities.
[14:22] Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, who's gonna be there? What are they going
[14:25] Speaker 4: to be wearing? Who are they?
[14:26] Speaker 1: Like?
[14:26] Speaker 2: Are they there with anybody interesting? I mean I watch
[14:29] Speaker 2: Nikki Bell comment on everyone. Yeah the fashion. Oh I've
[14:33] Speaker 2: also been being gas lit, betrayed and poisoned. Okay, So
[14:36] Speaker 2: my laundry woman, she knows, she knows I'm fragrance free.
[14:41] Speaker 4: She knows.
[14:42] Speaker 2: So I get a batch. It kind of feels fragrancy.
[14:45] Speaker 2: But I have to go to New Orleans. I don't
[14:47] Speaker 2: even think about it. Pack my clothes. I break out.
[14:49] Speaker 2: My thighs are fully broken out. I have back to
[14:51] Speaker 2: my and under my arm. Where are my hot zones
[14:54] Speaker 2: of my allergies? Because I get pedicures and I know
[14:57] Speaker 2: they're using wild fragrances, nothing happens to me. Yeah, just
[15:01] Speaker 2: like very concentrated. So I'm broken out everywhere. But I
[15:05] Speaker 2: don't want to start a full fight with her. So
[15:06] Speaker 2: I go in with the bat and I go, hey, girl,
[15:08] Speaker 2: remember fragrance free, cold water, fragrance free. Because I always
[15:12] Speaker 2: do like offended, right, She's like, oh, I always do.
[15:14] Speaker 2: I always do. Come on, look it says it here.
[15:16] Speaker 2: I go, all right, bitch, So I bring it back
[15:20] Speaker 2: full fragrance. I mean it's like it hits you in
[15:23] Speaker 2: the face. How much fragrance is in there. I cannot
[15:25] Speaker 2: wear it. So now I'm like, and it's a it's
[15:27] Speaker 2: a big heavy order. So I have like nothing to wear.
[15:29] Speaker 2: I have to go to souls. I have to go
[15:31] Speaker 2: to soul cycle. But so like, so I go to
[15:34] Speaker 2: her with one. I go, girl, it has fragrance, and
[15:37] Speaker 2: she smells and goes, you're crazy.
[15:39] Speaker 4: I go, look at my thighs. She goes, that's just allergies.
[15:41] Speaker 2: I go, yeah, allergies to what you're doing with fragrance
[15:45] Speaker 2: and she just gaslights me. So I go, fine, I
[15:47] Speaker 2: have to go to my you know, I have to
[15:48] Speaker 2: go to Taylor Swift Ride.
[15:50] Speaker 4: I gotta go.
[15:51] Speaker 2: So I then my cleaning lady to Tony comes by
[15:57] Speaker 2: and I text her, I go, can you please smell
[15:58] Speaker 2: the batch?
[15:59] Speaker 4: I go, tell me there's fragrance. If I'm fully.
[16:01] Speaker 2: Losing my mind, but like I I've been so careful,
[16:04] Speaker 2: like I'm breaking out to something.
[16:06] Speaker 4: She smells it.
[16:06] Speaker 2: She goes, oh, honey, it's definitely fragrance, all the all
[16:10] Speaker 2: the way fragrance. I'll put it all back into the
[16:12] Speaker 2: dirt like I'm not. I won't put it in deer closet.
[16:14] Speaker 2: And then Julia comes over before Beyonce. I'm like, smell
[16:16] Speaker 2: the bag and she goes, this is it smells like game,
[16:19] Speaker 2: not even just fragrance, it's yeah, fucking game. So I
[16:23] Speaker 2: went back today and she's charging me again. She gave
[16:26] Speaker 2: me a thing with money, and I'm like, this fucking bitch, like,
[16:29] Speaker 2: but I'm not fighting her to be like you have
[16:30] Speaker 2: to do this for free. I don't know if I
[16:32] Speaker 2: should fight her on the way out, but I gave
[16:33] Speaker 2: detergent and she kept being like, I use this, I
[16:35] Speaker 2: use this one. Look, I have this one. I go
[16:38] Speaker 2: but it smells like smell it and she will not
[16:40] Speaker 2: admit it. She is charging me again.
[16:43] Speaker 1: For this load and we'll see, Oh my god, so
[16:46] Speaker 1: now you're just BYO for your Breyo detergent.
[16:49] Speaker 2: I brought it back well, I always have I bring
[16:52] Speaker 2: her giant bottles of it just to make sure, like
[16:54] Speaker 2: I am. I don't mind, but I have these like
[16:59] Speaker 2: little that I'll bring like when I travel so I
[17:02] Speaker 2: brought a bunch of pods and she put them in
[17:04] Speaker 2: and I'm like, so hopefully it all washes out, but
[17:07] Speaker 2: all my bedding was in there, like everything, Like I'm
[17:09] Speaker 2: on like nothing left, but we'll see. And there's I
[17:14] Speaker 2: live in New York around like there's probably seven others
[17:17] Speaker 2: around me. I see times when I walk, but she's
[17:20] Speaker 2: just on my block and a woman.
[17:22] Speaker 4: But she is ruining my life. And it was okay before.
[17:25] Speaker 2: Yeah, she has been doing it, and it's like she
[17:27] Speaker 2: was doing it probably some other employee.
[17:28] Speaker 4: It's like someone who doesn't care. Are they mix something?
[17:30] Speaker 4: It like I'm not.
[17:32] Speaker 2: I just wish she would just be like, oh, yeah,
[17:34] Speaker 2: obviously is are bad. We'll take care of it. But
[17:37] Speaker 2: I have another fucking bill for forty three dollars, So
[17:42] Speaker 2: we'll see and if it's fine, I'll do it again.
[17:45] Speaker 2: But maybe it's probably time to just go to a
[17:47] Speaker 2: different place.
[17:48] Speaker 4: I just don't.
[17:49] Speaker 1: Yeah, one more shot and see what happens. Fuck, that's
[17:52] Speaker 1: so annoying it is. And I bet you her nose
[17:55] Speaker 1: is like not even I don't know if you work
[17:57] Speaker 1: in like, aren't you just like smell detergent all the time?
[18:00] Speaker 2: A bit she doesn't even smell it. You know, it
[18:03] Speaker 2: just is what it is. It's the only variable. Bitch, Like,
[18:05] Speaker 2: what are you doing? Ye stop fighting me. It's just allergies. Yes,
[18:10] Speaker 2: that's what I'm saying.
[18:11] Speaker 4: Oh my god.
[18:11] Speaker 2: Also, Kara, I know we have to start. I've caught
[18:15] Speaker 2: up on I'm on SVU some horrific crimes. Jesus Christ,
[18:20] Speaker 2: I only have these writers. Don't take a fucking break.
[18:23] Speaker 2: Are you out of your mind too? For me to
[18:25] Speaker 2: be jaw on the floor horrified, day ruined by a
[18:28] Speaker 2: season twenty six after everything we do, that's incredible, Oh
[18:34] Speaker 2: my god.
[18:36] Speaker 3: It eh.
[18:37] Speaker 2: And if you're wondering which one, it's obviously the you know,
[18:40] Speaker 2: the kid torture.
[18:41] Speaker 4: We're wondering where it's kid torture.
[18:44] Speaker 1: Okay, wait, I have maybe didn't get to that one yet.
[18:46] Speaker 1: I'm like, I'm still I'm a cup behind dogs, I'm
[18:49] Speaker 1: a couple behind.
[18:51] Speaker 2: It's like bad, it's it was so bad, and then
[18:53] Speaker 2: there was like another one that fucked me up.
[18:56] Speaker 4: I don't know.
[18:56] Speaker 2: I'm just saying they're still bringing it. My point is
[18:59] Speaker 2: they are still fucking bringing it. All right, let's start,
[19:04] Speaker 2: all right, Sorry, we have a double we got a double.
[19:07] Speaker 1: Yes, this is a double episode and it's a good one,
[19:10] Speaker 1: So don't go anywhere, all right, We're doing a double
[19:17] Speaker 1: header today, and the Empire strikes back and never turn
[19:22] Speaker 1: your back on them. Season's two titles with twenty three
[19:26] Speaker 1: letters in them each Season twenty three. This is the
[19:30] Speaker 1: season episodes one and two. It's the opener is a
[19:34] Speaker 1: double and it is carried over from season twenty two's finale.
[19:40] Speaker 1: So the episode the season finale of season twenty two
[19:44] Speaker 1: SVU uncovers this huge like sex for housing scandal where
[19:49] Speaker 1: single moms are basically being sex traffic. They get apartments
[19:52] Speaker 1: in exchange for what's essentially forced sex work, I mean
[19:56] Speaker 1: sexual assault, and it involves congressman Senators. Goes all the
[20:00] Speaker 1: way to the top, like it always does so at
[20:03] Speaker 1: the end of episode. The season twenty two episode is
[20:07] Speaker 1: when Finn and Phoebe like call off their wedding for
[20:11] Speaker 1: some weird reason that we never really find out, Like
[20:14] Speaker 1: it doesn't really make sense why you would pay all
[20:15] Speaker 1: this money and have a party and then be like
[20:17] Speaker 1: we decided we're just gonna stay together and not get married. Yeah,
[20:22] Speaker 1: And it's at the end the end of that episode
[20:23] Speaker 1: famously Rollins and Caresi finally kiss. So at the beginning
[20:26] Speaker 1: of season twenty three, no time has passed. It's the
[20:29] Speaker 1: same night Rollins and Caresy are in the halls of
[20:32] Speaker 1: the courthouse at ten pm making out. I guess Finn
[20:35] Speaker 1: and Phoebe got married, like right down at the bottom
[20:38] Speaker 1: of Manhattan, like right near their work and near one pp.
[20:43] Speaker 1: Finn is forcing Cat to mean and her girlfriend Selene
[20:46] Speaker 1: to take home all the flowers, and then Finn tells Kat, well,
[20:50] Speaker 1: don't get don't get cozy for the weekend. Catalina Machado,
[20:53] Speaker 1: who is the founder of Proud Life, who's a woman
[20:55] Speaker 1: who's like at the center of this whole sex trafficking
[20:57] Speaker 1: housing scandal, is flipping and we're gonna need all hands
[21:00] Speaker 1: on deck.
[21:01] Speaker 4: So now it's the next day.
[21:03] Speaker 1: Kreese's late, maybe from banging Rawlins, It's unclear. He meets
[21:07] Speaker 1: Anya Avatal from the Southern District of New York, which
[21:10] Speaker 1: we just talked about in a recent episode. You know,
[21:11] Speaker 1: those are like the states attorneys or the district attorneys
[21:16] Speaker 1: that work for like the certain areas of the state.
[21:19] Speaker 4: The Southern District of New York is like very powerful.
[21:22] Speaker 1: We talked about it in Pandora, Like I think Pam
[21:25] Speaker 1: Grier's character was working for the Southern District of New
[21:27] Speaker 1: York and like they're the ones that like prosecuted Keith Ranieri,
[21:31] Speaker 1: like the jen Shaw Like that's the they have like
[21:34] Speaker 1: the resources and the money and to like do these
[21:36] Speaker 1: really deep dive like investigations. And this woman, Anya Avataal
[21:42] Speaker 1: is played by Kadiya Sarov, who famously is married to
[21:46] Speaker 1: Terry Serpoco aka Chief McGrath in real life.
[21:49] Speaker 4: And they met on the set of this show, probably on.
[21:52] Speaker 1: This episode, because this is her first episode that was
[21:54] Speaker 1: the Facts. Yeah, So she and she goes on to
[21:58] Speaker 1: she comes in later. She he's in seven episodes total
[22:01] Speaker 1: of SVU. And she wipes lipstick off of Coreese's collar.
[22:05] Speaker 1: So I'm like, Rolins must have slept over Wiser lipstick
[22:08] Speaker 1: on his collar unless he like never got changed from
[22:10] Speaker 1: the night before he was like out all night high
[22:12] Speaker 1: on love.
[22:12] Speaker 4: I don't know.
[22:13] Speaker 1: Now Garland is on the phone with Chief McGrath, who,
[22:16] Speaker 1: as you recall, is making Garland's life a damn nightmare
[22:19] Speaker 1: and everybody's life. I mean, McGrath is really like a
[22:21] Speaker 1: piece of shit at this point in his tenure on
[22:24] Speaker 1: the show, like he's awful to live, He's awful to everyone,
[22:27] Speaker 1: and uh Garland, he only.
[22:28] Speaker 4: Cares about the up guy.
[22:30] Speaker 2: It's always just like the guys want a press conference,
[22:33] Speaker 2: they want an answer. It's always he just wants, like
[22:36] Speaker 2: the guys up top to think they solve ye fast.
[22:39] Speaker 2: It doesn't matter if it's right. They just need to
[22:41] Speaker 2: put it out to the public and solve it fast.
[22:44] Speaker 2: But I'm also not only am I mad for this
[22:47] Speaker 2: the character, but like I'm mad for the actor, Like
[22:49] Speaker 2: I'm really pissed the what happens. Yeah, yes, and I
[22:55] Speaker 2: wanted another season with him. I think it's fucked up,
[22:58] Speaker 2: like I too. And but you know, but Cara shot
[23:02] Speaker 2: like it was a little more excited. I don't know,
[23:04] Speaker 2: she was pissed too, You're right. I mean I was
[23:07] Speaker 2: sad to lose both of them. She had a cooler
[23:10] Speaker 2: story with it, you know, at least I don't know.
[23:13] Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't know. I was mad about.
[23:15] Speaker 2: This, I felt because he was like dejected. They whatever,
[23:18] Speaker 2: I'm getting ahead of myself.
[23:19] Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yeah, well McGrath, I was gonna say his
[23:22] Speaker 1: character is like what other men would describe like oh,
[23:25] Speaker 1: he's a bulldog, Like he's a real bulldog and you're like, no,
[23:27] Speaker 1: he's a fucking power hungry pain in the ass in
[23:30] Speaker 1: this whole thing.
[23:32] Speaker 4: And you know what, Garland's wife is not here for it.
[23:35] Speaker 1: She's like, I don't want you getting bullied at CompStat again.
[23:37] Speaker 1: And he's like no, Like if Catalina isn't the ringleader
[23:41] Speaker 1: and it's just a middleman, who knows.
[23:43] Speaker 4: How I up this goes.
[23:44] Speaker 1: He's like, this is the break I need at the
[23:45] Speaker 1: NYPD taking down a sex trafficking ring involving politicians, Like
[23:49] Speaker 1: I need this. Like everyone's really thinking about their careers
[23:52] Speaker 1: in these episodes. So back at the Southern meeting with
[23:55] Speaker 1: the Southern District, Live is late and everyone's getting antsy
[23:58] Speaker 1: to start, and we see Live just cruising in her
[24:00] Speaker 1: suv chatting to Stabler on the phone.
[24:03] Speaker 4: Where is she? I don't know.
[24:04] Speaker 1: She's just been at a wedding and now she's driving
[24:06] Speaker 1: and she's an hour late. She's she looks like she's
[24:08] Speaker 1: on a highway. I have no idea she had to
[24:09] Speaker 1: take Noah in New Jersey, Like, I don't know what's
[24:11] Speaker 1: going on, But do you think.
[24:13] Speaker 4: They were trying to allude to something.
[24:16] Speaker 1: I think they were just trying to set up that
[24:18] Speaker 1: she's in the car because Laursha Hargetty broke her ankle,
[24:23] Speaker 1: which I talk about I know.
[24:24] Speaker 4: But she had Why was she late to work?
[24:26] Speaker 2: Like are they trying to allude that she was with
[24:28] Speaker 2: Stabler or no, she's talking to him.
[24:30] Speaker 4: Like she's talking to him on the phone. She's just not.
[24:32] Speaker 2: Late to work to important stuff. And it's dark outside,
[24:35] Speaker 2: like I just yeah, it's dark.
[24:36] Speaker 4: They've left the like yeah, yeah, it's really weird. And
[24:41] Speaker 4: she's like driving I guess someone random too.
[24:47] Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, that's true, and in her huge suv
[24:50] Speaker 1: she like drove out him and it's so confusing, and
[24:52] Speaker 1: then Cariese's like, hey, where are you? And she's like
[24:55] Speaker 1: on my way, Like she's like too blessed to be stressed,
[24:58] Speaker 1: Like yeah, that's the thing.
[24:59] Speaker 2: Too bla to be stressed is what's confusing. There was
[25:01] Speaker 2: no urgency to get to this giant emergency.
[25:05] Speaker 1: She's like, I'll be on my and then she gets
[25:06] Speaker 1: back on the line with Stabler and Stabler is like, uh,
[25:11] Speaker 1: being like I was supposed to be at the DA's
[25:13] Speaker 1: office an hour ago. It's like that's not Yeah, it's weird.
[25:16] Speaker 1: It's like not in her character. I don't get where
[25:18] Speaker 1: she is. She was at a wedding in Manhattan. All
[25:20] Speaker 1: this is in my notes, like where what's going on?
[25:22] Speaker 1: I like drew a map. And then now some guy
[25:24] Speaker 1: is following her with their brites on. She tries to
[25:27] Speaker 1: let the guy pass and Stabler's like, let him pass, live,
[25:29] Speaker 1: let him pass, and she's like, I'm trying to and
[25:32] Speaker 1: then this guy is like right on her tail as
[25:34] Speaker 1: she tries to let him pass, and he just slams
[25:36] Speaker 1: into her bumper carreeens her off the road, and the
[25:40] Speaker 1: next thing we see is Stabler going live, I Got you,
[25:44] Speaker 1: I Got you, And she's on a stretcher and she's
[25:46] Speaker 1: out of it and she's like Elliott and then we
[25:49] Speaker 1: get we get to the ambulance door.
[25:50] Speaker 4: It's just some random bald emt. It's not Elliott at all.
[25:53] Speaker 1: She was just having like a crash induced like sex
[25:57] Speaker 1: dream about Elliott basically saving her. So you know, this
[26:00] Speaker 1: is more of they're trying to promote oc and they're
[26:04] Speaker 1: trying to still tease that they might ever let you
[26:06] Speaker 1: guys see them kiss, which they're not gonna do.
[26:08] Speaker 4: But you know that's what's happening.
[26:10] Speaker 1: So now Benn, Rollins and Creasy are all talking to
[26:12] Speaker 1: Live in her office. She's like, I'm fine, I just
[26:14] Speaker 1: got a fucked up ankle. No time for an MRI.
[26:17] Speaker 1: And Caresey's like, you need to see an orthopedist. You
[26:19] Speaker 1: don't mess around with an ankle. And Stabler and the
[26:22] Speaker 1: OC are looking into the person who ran her off
[26:24] Speaker 1: the road. Back to the case, Catalina is spilling all
[26:27] Speaker 1: the tea. McGrath is going to be pumped at CompStat
[26:30] Speaker 1: liv is trying to give like an organized presentation about
[26:33] Speaker 1: what went down.
[26:34] Speaker 4: She's like, okay, this is Ruben Ortiz.
[26:36] Speaker 1: He is the aide to Congressman George Justin Howard who
[26:39] Speaker 1: gave them Catalina. Ruben Ortiz gave them Catalina and who
[26:44] Speaker 1: in turn gave them these co conspirators, a former HUD secretary,
[26:48] Speaker 1: a former ASSE assemblyman, and then this raging asshole McGrath
[26:51] Speaker 1: goes a lot of formers. What's the highest rank of
[26:54] Speaker 1: someone involved? Like he only cares about publicity. It's like
[26:57] Speaker 1: this is a massive trafficking ring. You don't care about
[26:59] Speaker 1: the victim at all. You just care what's the highest
[27:02] Speaker 1: level Pokemon card we can collect in this bullshit.
[27:06] Speaker 4: Sorry, Rosie's very into Pokemond right now and it's taking
[27:08] Speaker 4: over my brain.
[27:10] Speaker 1: And so Liv tells them Congressman Howard, like Congressman Howard
[27:14] Speaker 1: is involved, and he is a sitting congressman.
[27:16] Speaker 4: That's big, big enough for you, bro.
[27:18] Speaker 1: So now we cut to this young congressman with an
[27:20] Speaker 1: extremely punishable face, ringing the bell of the New York
[27:24] Speaker 1: Stock Exchange and he is surrounded by people celebrating. Finn
[27:27] Speaker 1: and Kat are watching it on a tablet, and Finn goes,
[27:30] Speaker 1: nothing sadder than white people congratulating themselves. And I just
[27:34] Speaker 1: think these T shirts print themselves, Like how there's not
[27:36] Speaker 1: like an Etsy shop of just full Finn quotes. I mean,
[27:39] Speaker 1: maybe that's mine to start, but that's so funny. Nothing
[27:42] Speaker 1: sadder than white people congratulating themselves. So behind the congressman
[27:47] Speaker 1: is Myron Gold, who is played by an actor named
[27:51] Speaker 1: Glenn Fleschler.
[27:53] Speaker 4: And he's been out. Yeah it does. Everyone was thinking it.
[27:58] Speaker 4: I had this say to call it out.
[28:01] Speaker 1: He's been in a ton of things and he is
[28:04] Speaker 1: Howard's lawyer turned political consultant. He has very hand of
[28:08] Speaker 1: the king, vibes very vibes of the guy Dug from
[28:12] Speaker 1: House of Cards who just like is a fixer for
[28:14] Speaker 1: a political candidate, you know, or a political politician.
[28:17] Speaker 4: He I mean, he's a SV He said no to us,
[28:20] Speaker 4: what's going on. Yeah, we've tried to get him a
[28:22] Speaker 4: couple of times. He said no.
[28:24] Speaker 2: God he love plays like this piss freak, this fertility freak.
[28:29] Speaker 4: Yeah. But he's also.
[28:30] Speaker 1: In the Colleen stan episode. He works at the vet
[28:35] Speaker 1: clinic with the wife who's all drugged up, you know. Anyway,
[28:40] Speaker 1: Glenn Fleschler has also been in seasons four, eleven, nineteen,
[28:44] Speaker 1: and now twenty three of US Views, so he's been
[28:46] Speaker 1: on the journey and apparently this is the guy that's
[28:49] Speaker 1: going to get Howard the presidency, and Kat goes, if
[28:51] Speaker 1: that happens, me and Selene are moving to France, and
[28:54] Speaker 1: it's like, oh, babe, wait until you find out what
[28:56] Speaker 1: happens next.
[28:57] Speaker 4: Back at Compstats at.
[29:00] Speaker 2: France, I bet fucking yeah, I bet they're in fucking France.
[29:04] Speaker 4: Yeah, they're probably in France living a beautiful life.
[29:08] Speaker 1: Back at CompStat Live is like trying to profile Howard
[29:11] Speaker 1: being like, okay, here's the history on Howard and Chief
[29:14] Speaker 1: MC asshole is like, cut to the chase. Are Catalina
[29:17] Speaker 1: and Ruben Ortiz wired or what they are? And neither
[29:21] Speaker 1: of them knows that the other one is wired. They're like,
[29:23] Speaker 1: we have victims, we have phone records. Yeah, they're basically
[29:26] Speaker 1: covering their butts, like, let's just get both of them
[29:29] Speaker 1: in there and tell the other one. And he's like
[29:31] Speaker 1: when do we pick him up? And Garland's like, wow,
[29:34] Speaker 1: there's a fundraiser this weekend and Benson's like, well, guys,
[29:36] Speaker 1: we're still building the case. And he's like, I don't
[29:38] Speaker 1: want this to stall out like it did with that
[29:40] Speaker 1: Ken doll Gates and it's like Kendall more like a
[29:43] Speaker 1: brats doll. Have you ever seen Matt Getz's face work.
[29:46] Speaker 1: He's horrific looking. I would not give him the stature
[29:50] Speaker 1: of a Ken doll. Is that who they're referencing here?
[29:53] Speaker 4: Yeah, he said that Ken doll gets Yeah.
[29:56] Speaker 1: So he's talking about mac Gas Yeah, yeah, about yeah,
[30:00] Speaker 1: and I know we're gonna hear more about that.
[30:03] Speaker 2: That's crazy the well, but DC's different, you know what
[30:07] Speaker 2: I mean, Like their standards are just different for hotness.
[30:09] Speaker 2: Like Matt Gates, I guess is just y I guess
[30:12] Speaker 2: if you're young and not a full trouble, well you're
[30:15] Speaker 2: a cat.
[30:16] Speaker 1: Also was okay looking before he got all this face
[30:20] Speaker 1: work done, and now he has like literally like cartoon eyebrows,
[30:23] Speaker 1: like he's had so much work done. He looks insane. Yeah,
[30:26] Speaker 1: it's bad. McGrath is such a piece of shit. He
[30:31] Speaker 1: just wants to win. He tells Garland, We'll forgive everything
[30:34] Speaker 1: that you've done, all of your fuck ups if you
[30:35] Speaker 1: just get this guy.
[30:36] Speaker 4: And Live looks nervous. She's like, we are rushing this right.
[30:39] Speaker 1: That's like the narrative that we're setting up right up top,
[30:41] Speaker 1: and you'll see how it plays out. So now it's
[30:43] Speaker 1: we're at lunch with Catalina Rubin and Congressman Howard.
[30:46] Speaker 4: They're hobnobbing.
[30:47] Speaker 1: He tells Catalina, Oh, I stopped by the building to
[30:49] Speaker 1: see my mom, and Polly wasn't there. And Polly, if
[30:52] Speaker 1: you remember back to a season ender of season twenty two,
[30:56] Speaker 1: is a landlord who works at the building where they
[30:59] Speaker 1: place all these on house women and then you know,
[31:01] Speaker 1: assault them in exchange for their housing. And he also
[31:04] Speaker 1: does the assaulting like and in the end of the
[31:06] Speaker 1: last episode he was brought in, so he's in jail,
[31:10] Speaker 1: and so he's like, well, I went to the building,
[31:12] Speaker 1: my man Polly wasn't there, and Cataline is like, he's
[31:16] Speaker 1: had a family emergency. But the Congressman misses. He's like,
[31:19] Speaker 1: I missed my sweet Rosa. And the problem is that
[31:23] Speaker 1: some of these moms worry about their kids, like what
[31:25] Speaker 1: they might see, what they might know, like what's going down.
[31:28] Speaker 1: So naturally the Congressman is like, well, don't we have
[31:31] Speaker 1: any deserving moms with teenage daughters. He's like, now I
[31:35] Speaker 1: can just go after the children, and Catalina is like,
[31:39] Speaker 1: we can find you some, and he goes, I do
[31:41] Speaker 1: love to mentor.
[31:42] Speaker 4: So he's horrific right off the bat.
[31:45] Speaker 1: At Live's office, McGrath shows up and he's like, stay off.
[31:48] Speaker 1: Everyone keeps going stay, sit down, stay off your foot.
[31:51] Speaker 4: And the.
[31:53] Speaker 1: Backstory on this is that Marishka broke her ankle leaving
[31:56] Speaker 1: a screening of Black Widow in the Hamptons and she
[32:01] Speaker 1: ended up she was hosting a star studded after party
[32:04] Speaker 1: and she ended up missing it. It was at her
[32:06] Speaker 1: own house and I think the party went on and
[32:08] Speaker 1: she had to go to the hospital and she broke
[32:10] Speaker 1: her ankle in like three places, and I remember that
[32:12] Speaker 1: summer that this happened and she was like taking photos
[32:15] Speaker 1: of her you know, Marishka's very into hashtags. It was
[32:19] Speaker 1: a lot of hashtags about her ankle. So McGrath clearly
[32:22] Speaker 1: hates Garland and it's very clear. And he tells liv
[32:25] Speaker 1: I've got a great UC I want to use, and
[32:27] Speaker 1: she's like, well, I already have two cis talking about
[32:30] Speaker 1: Catalina and Ortiz and McGrath's like, yeah, but I get
[32:33] Speaker 1: what I want. So maybe this UC can work like
[32:35] Speaker 1: alongside Catalina and you know, lives like, I'll let Garland know,
[32:40] Speaker 1: and McGrath's like, nah, maybe let's like not let him
[32:43] Speaker 1: in on this.
[32:43] Speaker 4: He's got a.
[32:43] Speaker 1: Prior relationship with Catalina Machado because if you remember from
[32:46] Speaker 1: last season, he did know her from her work in
[32:49] Speaker 1: the community. She runs this big, you know, organization that
[32:53] Speaker 1: I think helps people get out of poverty and get back.
[32:55] Speaker 4: On their feet.
[32:56] Speaker 1: And so he's he knows her in the community and
[32:59] Speaker 1: lives like he's loyal to the NYPD and McGrath's like, yeah,
[33:03] Speaker 1: but his judgment sucks. Don't tell him and don't tell
[33:05] Speaker 1: anyone on your squad, So that also sucks. Live doesn't
[33:09] Speaker 1: like keeping secrets from her guys, and she's like, that
[33:12] Speaker 1: could be dangerous also for your guy, and he's like, well,
[33:14] Speaker 1: want to you make sure it's not and he just
[33:17] Speaker 1: sucks so hard. So now top of act two, Live
[33:20] Speaker 1: is with the squad at the corkboard. We've got Rosa, Lulu,
[33:23] Speaker 1: and Denise. They are three of the trafficking victims. They
[33:26] Speaker 1: all say they got multiple visits from Congressman Howard. Are
[33:29] Speaker 1: they solid? Sounds like a no. Lulu won't talk until
[33:32] Speaker 1: she gets her kid back. Cariese's working on it. Denise
[33:34] Speaker 1: is in the wind, and that leaves Rosa and and
[33:38] Speaker 1: if you watched the episode in season twenty two when
[33:41] Speaker 1: she got to the apartment, her son was so happy.
[33:43] Speaker 4: He's like, mom, there's a table, my room has a door.
[33:47] Speaker 1: Like he's so excited that they are gonna not be
[33:50] Speaker 1: at a shelter and like live in their own house.
[33:52] Speaker 1: And so you can see why these women feel pressured
[33:55] Speaker 1: into doing this, that their kids have a roof over
[33:57] Speaker 1: their head. And Kat's like, we promised to leave Rosa alone,
[34:00] Speaker 1: like she wants a fresh star and lives like okay, Well,
[34:04] Speaker 1: I don't care, go talk to her about Howard. And
[34:06] Speaker 1: so now Kat ambushes Rosa while she's on chaperoning a
[34:08] Speaker 1: field trip with her kid, and she's like, you guys
[34:11] Speaker 1: said this was over. You said I could keep the apartment.
[34:13] Speaker 1: And Kat's like yeah, but he's hurting other women. He's
[34:15] Speaker 1: raping girls, and Rosa's like, I believe it. He's the
[34:18] Speaker 1: worst one of them. And they're like, we need you
[34:21] Speaker 1: to testify. Cat's like please, She's like, I know you're scared.
[34:24] Speaker 1: We'll protect you. Rosa doesn't say no, but she doesn't commit.
[34:27] Speaker 1: So now we're talking to the landlord, Polly Banducci, who's
[34:31] Speaker 1: in prison. He's got his orange jump suit on and
[34:33] Speaker 1: he's like, fuck, no, I'm not talking. That guy's going
[34:35] Speaker 1: to be president, and Rollins is like, no, we'll keep
[34:38] Speaker 1: this quiet, like no one in jail will know what
[34:40] Speaker 1: we're even, like, no one in this prison is going
[34:42] Speaker 1: to know, like what you're like testifying about, And it's
[34:44] Speaker 1: like everybody fucking knows and finds out this stuff. Cariese says,
[34:48] Speaker 1: we really need you to testify. Now, Howard and Ortiz
[34:52] Speaker 1: are driving in the rain, and Howard's like, what's the deal,
[34:55] Speaker 1: Like what are the deets on the after party for
[34:57] Speaker 1: the fundraiser And he's like, I'm annoyed I haven't heard
[35:00] Speaker 1: from Catalina. And Howard's like, what about those girls that
[35:03] Speaker 1: interned last summer? And Ortiz is like, well, they're still
[35:06] Speaker 1: in high school and Howard is like, just make sure
[35:09] Speaker 1: they have IDs. So this is all obviously on tape.
[35:12] Speaker 1: They're hearing this, and Howard goes that petite blonde, she
[35:16] Speaker 1: was a cult, and then the aid has to remind
[35:18] Speaker 1: him cults are male horses.
[35:20] Speaker 4: Phillies are female horses.
[35:22] Speaker 1: And this guy can't even like objectify underage girls correctly,
[35:25] Speaker 1: like with the right language.
[35:26] Speaker 4: And it's funny.
[35:27] Speaker 1: And now they're basically talking about this girl named Jenna
[35:30] Speaker 1: and her cute friend named Hayden. High school girls. So
[35:34] Speaker 1: now the gang is all watching this footage with McGrath.
[35:36] Speaker 1: He's grossed out because you know, he's got three teen
[35:39] Speaker 1: daughters and so it hits close to home for him.
[35:41] Speaker 1: He probably doesn't give a fuck about these poor women
[35:43] Speaker 1: that have just been like systematically raped in their homes
[35:46] Speaker 1: in order to have housing. Anyway, he wants to make
[35:50] Speaker 1: sure that this Jenna girl is at the fundraiser so
[35:52] Speaker 1: they can catch Howard. In the act, Cariese's like, I
[35:55] Speaker 1: think we should let this play out a little bit more,
[35:57] Speaker 1: and Live explains like the witnesses are reluctant, and McGrath goes,
[36:01] Speaker 1: tell your witnesses to grow a pair. I want to
[36:03] Speaker 1: bring this guy down now, like it's honestly insane, like
[36:07] Speaker 1: nothing in government moves quickly, I feel like.
[36:09] Speaker 4: And then this man is like, do it now? Do
[36:11] Speaker 4: it now?
[36:11] Speaker 1: Like fucking everything up. Garland pipes up and is like,
[36:15] Speaker 1: with all do We're only going to get one shot
[36:17] Speaker 1: at this guy. You can't like go after a congressman
[36:19] Speaker 1: multiple times, and the eighth floor agrees.
[36:22] Speaker 4: They keep talking about the eighth floor. I don't know
[36:24] Speaker 4: if that's is.
[36:26] Speaker 1: That the Southern District people like, I don't know, but
[36:29] Speaker 1: it's the eighth floor they keep talking about. McGrath argues
[36:31] Speaker 1: that as soon as Howard announces his exploratory committee for presidency,
[36:35] Speaker 1: any arrest is going to be perceived as political.
[36:38] Speaker 4: So we gotta move quickly because.
[36:39] Speaker 1: As soon as this guy announces that he's running for president,
[36:41] Speaker 1: everyone's going to think that we're just like being Democrats
[36:43] Speaker 1: or being Republicans or whatever, and going after a guy politically,
[36:48] Speaker 1: and as he's like going on and on, he clocks
[36:51] Speaker 1: that Benson's on her phone and is like, uh, are
[36:53] Speaker 1: you with us, Detective, And she's like, I have a
[36:55] Speaker 1: situation I need to leave.
[36:56] Speaker 4: Is it Noah related? Who knows?
[36:58] Speaker 1: Kat comes back to the Precs and she's like, I
[37:01] Speaker 1: really hate that I had to pressure Rosa. It feels
[37:03] Speaker 1: like we're rushing this and she's like, today is the
[37:05] Speaker 1: first day that this job has felt wrong to me,
[37:08] Speaker 1: and Rollins is like, yeah, you got.
[37:10] Speaker 4: To just ignore your gut and push past that.
[37:12] Speaker 1: That's why I've been on the show for thirteen seasons
[37:15] Speaker 1: and IAB. Now we're at IAB and Live is being
[37:18] Speaker 1: interviewed by IAB Captain Renee Curry, who, if you are
[37:21] Speaker 1: caught up on the current seasons, you know, ends up
[37:24] Speaker 1: joining us for you and they're talking about this is
[37:28] Speaker 1: this is OC crossover. They're talking about a situation and
[37:31] Speaker 1: I watched this episode on the OC where Aana Bell,
[37:34] Speaker 1: you know, is the captain of the OC, and she
[37:37] Speaker 1: has this guy working under her name Morales. He turns
[37:40] Speaker 1: dirty and he started working for Richard Wheatley, who is
[37:42] Speaker 1: played by Dylan McDermott. He is Stabler's nemesis on the
[37:46] Speaker 1: first like two seasons of OC, and.
[37:48] Speaker 4: He's the guy. He's the guy who kills Kathy.
[37:50] Speaker 1: Yeah, he blows up Kathy, and this cop Morales raises
[37:54] Speaker 1: his weapon to shoot like they're trying to talk him down.
[37:57] Speaker 1: They're like, it's okay, we're going to get you through this,
[37:59] Speaker 1: and he puts his weapon down, but then he raises
[38:01] Speaker 1: his weapon again. It's like he's trying to get shot.
[38:03] Speaker 1: And Ayana has to shoot this guy who she's worked
[38:06] Speaker 1: with and she loves even though he's turned dirty. And
[38:08] Speaker 1: so they're questioning Benson about it because she was there.
[38:11] Speaker 1: She had gotten a text that she thought was from Stabler,
[38:14] Speaker 1: but it was not actually from him.
[38:15] Speaker 4: It was from Wheatley. Because it's possible.
[38:17] Speaker 1: Wheatley was trying to kill he had hired Morales to
[38:20] Speaker 1: kill Wheatley's x, his own ex wife, but possibly also
[38:23] Speaker 1: Benson just to get at Stabler because him and Stabler
[38:26] Speaker 1: are like, you know, really enemies. Benson thinks that this
[38:30] Speaker 1: bad cop Moraless was possibly sent to kill her as well.
[38:34] Speaker 4: Yeah, I already said that. So they show a flashback
[38:36] Speaker 4: of Wheatley meeting live and being.
[38:37] Speaker 1: Like, whoa, Stabler, She's a knockdown Now.
[38:41] Speaker 4: I get it. Whoa?
[38:43] Speaker 1: And like it's really a gross and you know, he's
[38:46] Speaker 1: just trying to get under Stabler's skin. And basically Benson
[38:50] Speaker 1: is telling Curry that this is a good shooting, that
[38:52] Speaker 1: Aana Belt didn't do anything wrong. Now we're back and
[38:55] Speaker 1: Benson's getting picked up by Finn and she she's like, Finn,
[38:59] Speaker 1: you gotta tell me what's going on with men?
[39:01] Speaker 4: Like, what's happening with men?
[39:02] Speaker 1: We've got Richard Wheatley just an absolute evil, like cartoon villain.
[39:06] Speaker 1: We've got this Howard guy. And Finn's like, too much
[39:09] Speaker 1: money in power. These guys think they can do whatever
[39:11] Speaker 1: they want. I don't know why I Live in season
[39:13] Speaker 1: twenty three is ectod like she has not met men
[39:15] Speaker 1: like this before, but.
[39:17] Speaker 4: You know, uh.
[39:18] Speaker 1: And then Live's ankle is hurting her again and Finn's like,
[39:21] Speaker 1: I'm taking you to the doctor right now. So now
[39:24] Speaker 1: we're at the fundraiser. This is a real fin is
[39:26] Speaker 1: the Dad episode. He's really taking care of everybody in
[39:29] Speaker 1: this episode. So now we're at the fundraisers sting, they're
[39:32] Speaker 1: wiring Ortiz and they're telling him just get Howard to
[39:35] Speaker 1: the suite with the girls, and he wants to know, like,
[39:37] Speaker 1: is he gonna know I'm behind the setup? And Finn's like,
[39:40] Speaker 1: Finn goes, we'll burn that bridge when we get to it,
[39:42] Speaker 1: which I like, that's a fun little turn of phrase.
[39:44] Speaker 1: And then Ortiz is like, you don't get it, like
[39:46] Speaker 1: he gave me my first job. We've been friends since college.
[39:49] Speaker 1: It's like, dude, you've been wearing a wire now for
[39:51] Speaker 1: at least a week. I don't know why. Now you're
[39:53] Speaker 1: like now that. It's like we've got the teen girls
[39:56] Speaker 1: in the room and he's getting cold feet, and the
[39:57] Speaker 1: squad is like, sack up, dude, Like this guy wouldn't
[40:00] Speaker 1: spit on you if you were on fire. And then Kat,
[40:02] Speaker 1: dressed in her undercover hotty outfit that they always put
[40:05] Speaker 1: her in, is also this is her fundraiser drag, and
[40:07] Speaker 1: she's like, let's go.
[40:08] Speaker 4: It's showtime.
[40:09] Speaker 1: So Rollin's and Carisi are watching and flirting, and they're
[40:14] Speaker 1: watching this all from a hotel room, and Caresee's like,
[40:16] Speaker 1: what a waste of a hotel room? Like looking at
[40:18] Speaker 1: the bed. So these two are getting hot and heavy.
[40:20] Speaker 1: I feel like off camera there ouviously not going to
[40:23] Speaker 1: show us anything. At the fundraiser, Catalina is introducing Howard.
[40:28] Speaker 1: He's talking about ending homelessness with Catalina's organization, Proud Life.
[40:32] Speaker 1: And now Howard Ortiz and the lawyer Dude Gold are
[40:35] Speaker 1: talking to some hot woman about Pharma and having a
[40:39] Speaker 1: friend in the White House. It's so confusing because it's
[40:41] Speaker 1: like he's talking only to her and this other woman.
[40:45] Speaker 1: And then he goes, I bet this stuff is boring
[40:46] Speaker 1: to you, and she's it's like you're telling her Farma's
[40:49] Speaker 1: going to have a friend in the white House.
[40:50] Speaker 4: Is she in Pharma? It's really weird scene.
[40:53] Speaker 1: And then he tries to flirt with her and she goes,
[40:56] Speaker 1: you had me at the lower capital gains rate. It's
[40:59] Speaker 1: it's not a great it's not a great performance by
[41:01] Speaker 1: this hot girl, but she is hot.
[41:02] Speaker 4: Gold tells Howard.
[41:04] Speaker 1: Take it easy, you've got an early morning, and then
[41:07] Speaker 1: Catalina comes up to introduce Howard to Danny kinonez Akaq.
[41:12] Speaker 4: And who is it but our boy Jove Alasco. He's
[41:16] Speaker 4: the undercover guy that McGrath wanted to work on this operation.
[41:20] Speaker 4: He is pretending to be a major influencer with forty
[41:23] Speaker 4: million Insta followers.
[41:26] Speaker 1: I just don't know that you could fake all that.
[41:27] Speaker 1: I don't know if you could fake all of these
[41:29] Speaker 1: internet results.
[41:31] Speaker 2: Yeah, like you fake forty million. Forty million a lot.
[41:34] Speaker 2: Forty million is a lot of followers. If it was
[41:38] Speaker 2: only a million, it would be a big deal. Like,
[41:40] Speaker 2: forty million is.
[41:43] Speaker 1: Somebody that you would expect to kind of have some
[41:45] Speaker 1: name recognition.
[41:46] Speaker 2: Like the teens have to love because everyone I'm thinking
[41:48] Speaker 2: about right now has like one hundreds, Like it really
[41:51] Speaker 2: is a lot, thirty thirty, forty million is a lot. Yeah,
[41:54] Speaker 2: it's international superstar. You could fill an arena.
[41:58] Speaker 1: Yeah, forty million is really like I think Charlie XCX
[42:01] Speaker 1: might have six million maybe right right, Yeah, it's crazy
[42:06] Speaker 1: forty million.
[42:07] Speaker 4: That's mister Beast. Like I don't understand. I need to
[42:11] Speaker 4: look up what mister Beast has, like truly I do. Yeah,
[42:15] Speaker 4: check that out because YouTube might be.
[42:18] Speaker 1: Different seventy one million, But you know, he's the time period.
[42:23] Speaker 1: He's the number one influencer like in the world anyway.
[42:27] Speaker 1: Alasco's very Ah, I'm the guy, he's very different. I
[42:34] Speaker 1: think in these two episodes, like I think his personality
[42:37] Speaker 1: changes a lot, he starts playing it differently, maybe when
[42:39] Speaker 1: he gets maybe when he gets like like when the
[42:43] Speaker 1: actor got like series regular, maybe he's like, oh, I
[42:45] Speaker 1: gotta play this different because here he's very.
[42:48] Speaker 4: Like whoa whoa, very Danny Zuko.
[42:52] Speaker 1: He's so in your face, like come on, guys, let's
[42:54] Speaker 1: go for it, like I'm gonna go do this, I'm
[42:56] Speaker 1: gonna go do that. Like he's so in it. Yeah,
[42:57] Speaker 1: he's like real more aggressive. So anyway, I don't know
[43:00] Speaker 1: how they're fucking uh faking this guy's so online presence,
[43:05] Speaker 1: but he wraps a clothing line and a vape brand,
[43:08] Speaker 1: so he's perfect to get someone elected president. Finn and
[43:12] Speaker 1: Kat are looking on, and Finn it looks insanely like
[43:15] Speaker 1: a cop, like it's crazy that they would have him
[43:16] Speaker 1: at this fundraiser. Kat google's que quickly and goes, well,
[43:19] Speaker 1: he's worth one hundred and twenty million.
[43:21] Speaker 4: It's like, yeah, the.
[43:21] Speaker 1: Google results are like immediately set up for this man,
[43:25] Speaker 1: and he's a guest DJ. He's followed by Dua Lipa, Lizzo,
[43:29] Speaker 1: Billie Eilish and Olivia Rodrine.
[43:31] Speaker 4: This is crazy.
[43:32] Speaker 1: This is crazy, and Finn goes, who, like, do you
[43:36] Speaker 1: guys have somebody at Instagram that works for you that goes, hey,
[43:39] Speaker 1: we're starting we need to start an account for this guy.
[43:40] Speaker 1: You just got to give him forty million bots. And
[43:42] Speaker 1: if you could also make it so that Dualipa, Lizzo
[43:44] Speaker 1: and Billie Eilish and live like the follow him.
[43:47] Speaker 2: A way to make like a fake businessman without Instagram.
[43:52] Speaker 4: Right, But like, I guess they're trying to get elected.
[43:55] Speaker 4: I don't. I don't know.
[43:55] Speaker 1: Well, I think they're trying to figure out a way,
[43:57] Speaker 1: a reason why this guy has ends with the youth.
[44:00] Speaker 1: Like that's the whole thing, because like now, Catalina goes,
[44:03] Speaker 1: if you treat Q right, he'll lead you to the
[44:06] Speaker 1: promised Land, which is young people. Even though these kids
[44:08] Speaker 1: are in high school, they can't even fucking vote. But
[44:10] Speaker 1: like ces, Q goes, I'm all about the youth. But
[44:14] Speaker 1: and he goes, but I don't see much of it here,
[44:16] Speaker 1: like shading them. He's like, look at your old ass fundraiser.
[44:19] Speaker 1: And then Ortiz goes, don't worry, we have some youth
[44:21] Speaker 1: waiting for you in the hospitality suite. And then Howard
[44:24] Speaker 1: goes care Decaucus. Disgusting. I hate everything about this character.
[44:29] Speaker 1: Then there is a cool shot of the politicians going
[44:31] Speaker 1: up in the elevator with Kat and Finn and the
[44:33] Speaker 1: other elevator. It's like an external elevator shot that you
[44:36] Speaker 1: can see like the glass elevator, which I thought was cool.
[44:39] Speaker 1: At the suite, Howard says Q, Welcome to politics, and
[44:43] Speaker 1: it's like, if this man has forty million followers and
[44:46] Speaker 1: is online friends with the biggest pop stars in the world,
[44:48] Speaker 1: he has literally been with the seen the hottest women
[44:52] Speaker 1: that grace the planet. And I don't think they're at
[44:55] Speaker 1: your after party for your fundraiser. I don't think sixteen
[44:57] Speaker 1: year olds from New Jersey are necessarily what Q is
[45:01] Speaker 1: going to get a boner over. But you know what,
[45:03] Speaker 1: the show is trying to do something, and that's fine.
[45:05] Speaker 1: He goes Welcome to the Politics, where the men are
[45:07] Speaker 1: four's and the women are tens, and that's probably spot on.
[45:11] Speaker 1: And then they see these two high school girls and
[45:14] Speaker 1: Howard is like leering at them, telling Q they'll do
[45:17] Speaker 1: anything you want and anything you haven't even thought of,
[45:19] Speaker 1: and it's like, yeah, everyone is the best at sex
[45:21] Speaker 1: when they're sixteen and they've barely done it. Like that's
[45:24] Speaker 1: when everyone's got the moves that are going to really
[45:27] Speaker 1: show a grown man whose boss.
[45:29] Speaker 4: So they go talk to the girls this episode.
[45:34] Speaker 2: I watched it twice ab all of both the whatever,
[45:39] Speaker 2: and I really didn't catch the camp like this is crazy.
[45:43] Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, I was like in the episode, but I
[45:46] Speaker 2: don't think I realized how out of control insane this
[45:49] Speaker 2: all is.
[45:52] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[45:52] Speaker 1: Yeah, So the influencer Q is with the congressman and
[45:56] Speaker 1: the high school girls like also to just meet someone
[45:59] Speaker 1: and be like, I know you're into committing crimes, Like
[46:01] Speaker 1: I know that you're actually totally fine with statutory rape,
[46:04] Speaker 1: and like, you know, let's do this.
[46:07] Speaker 4: So they go talk to.
[46:09] Speaker 1: The girls and they're like, oh yeah, we want to
[46:11] Speaker 1: be on that Teen Run Teens Run the World thing
[46:14] Speaker 1: is some like I sound like an old person, but
[46:16] Speaker 1: I'm like, is that real or that's just in the show.
[46:18] Speaker 1: I don't know what it is. C's like, I can
[46:20] Speaker 1: make it happen. Why don't you give me your info?
[46:22] Speaker 1: And then Jenna's like, I live in New Jersey, not
[46:24] Speaker 1: too far away, and that rings a bell for Careese
[46:26] Speaker 1: who's watching upstairs, and he's like, transporting minor over state
[46:29] Speaker 1: lines for moral purposes is a felony, and then Howard
[46:34] Speaker 1: tells these two teen girls, you guys could be the
[46:36] Speaker 1: next Fiddle and Faddle, which I guess are interns that
[46:39] Speaker 1: JFK used to quote unquote frolic with in the White
[46:42] Speaker 1: House pool during lunch, and Jenna takes one sip of
[46:45] Speaker 1: champagne or she goes, oh, the White House, I'll drink
[46:48] Speaker 1: to that.
[46:49] Speaker 4: She takes one sip of champagne and doesn't feel good immediately.
[46:52] Speaker 1: Now I've never been roofed, but I don't think it's instant,
[46:55] Speaker 1: Like I don't think it's like she takes us zip.
[46:57] Speaker 4: And goes, ugh, I'm not feeling so good. It's like,
[47:00] Speaker 4: let me take you to lie down? Yeah, you know
[47:02] Speaker 4: that's his cue.
[47:02] Speaker 1: Yeah yeah. So now they're in the bedroom. This girl's
[47:05] Speaker 1: like falling down already. He gets He lies around the bed,
[47:08] Speaker 1: gets on top of her, starts undoing his belt. She's
[47:11] Speaker 1: the whole time going I don't want to do this,
[47:13] Speaker 1: Like she's not even going where am I I feel weird?
[47:15] Speaker 1: She's like, I don't want to do this. The cops
[47:17] Speaker 1: move in, okay, so they all get into the party.
[47:20] Speaker 4: NYBD. They bust into his room.
[47:22] Speaker 1: He obviously hears the commotion, starts buttoning up his fucking
[47:26] Speaker 1: belts and then they cuff him and they bring him out,
[47:28] Speaker 1: and they bring out Q at the same time, and
[47:30] Speaker 1: he's like, you set me up, and Howard's like, don't
[47:32] Speaker 1: say anything.
[47:33] Speaker 4: Cue lawyer up, like it's so crazy.
[47:36] Speaker 1: As soon as everyone leaves except for the cops, Q
[47:41] Speaker 1: is like, all right, guys, take off these bracelets and
[47:43] Speaker 1: they're like and then he goes and bag those flutes.
[47:45] Speaker 1: They probably lace the drink and it's like cop talk,
[47:47] Speaker 1: cop talk, and then he's like, oh, sorry, it's me
[47:50] Speaker 1: Joe Velasco.
[47:51] Speaker 4: I'm on the job.
[47:52] Speaker 1: And they don't believe it because no one told them
[47:53] Speaker 1: there's going to be a UC on this job.
[47:55] Speaker 4: And he's like, call Chief McGrath.
[47:57] Speaker 1: So it would be weird for this guy to just
[48:00] Speaker 1: no Chief McGrath if he's an influencer named Q.
[48:03] Speaker 4: But who knows, you know, it's Billie Eilish.
[48:05] Speaker 1: So back at the office, liv is wearing a boot
[48:08] Speaker 1: now with her foot up and on the phone with
[48:10] Speaker 1: McGrath assuring him like, yeah, we're maintaining Velasco's cover.
[48:13] Speaker 4: Don't worry about it.
[48:14] Speaker 1: Benson tells Finn and rawlins listen, Garland didn't know about
[48:17] Speaker 1: the UC and apparently like McGrath is his rabbi, which
[48:21] Speaker 1: we've talked about this before. I guess in Coppery that's like, uh,
[48:24] Speaker 1: your mentor is your rabbi.
[48:26] Speaker 4: So Benson said, fucked up.
[48:27] Speaker 2: And it honestly is dangerous for everyone that he wouldn't
[48:31] Speaker 2: tell people about it, you know what I mean.
[48:33] Speaker 4: Like, yeah, what if it got violent? What do people ran?
[48:35] Speaker 5: Like?
[48:36] Speaker 2: It just seems crazy to not let other cops, like
[48:38] Speaker 2: cops snow in an underground thing, like undercover thing that
[48:43] Speaker 2: someone's I just I hate my Grath.
[48:45] Speaker 1: It just goes with his personality though, because he wants
[48:48] Speaker 1: to be just want Sendsvelasko in and be like, my
[48:51] Speaker 1: guy got this done. Like he wants to be the
[48:53] Speaker 1: one that's like because later in the episode, Velasco does
[48:56] Speaker 1: some good shit and he's like Velasco like he's just
[48:58] Speaker 1: like that's my guy, and so it's he's you know,
[49:01] Speaker 1: he sucks. So Benson's traffic copping a little bit. She
[49:05] Speaker 1: goes Rollins, go to the hospital talk to Jenna, and
[49:08] Speaker 1: then Howard's lawyers arrived and we'll only talk to Benson.
[49:11] Speaker 1: Benson's ankle is fractured, but and she should be home resting,
[49:14] Speaker 1: but like, not on the Grath's watch. She's not gonna
[49:17] Speaker 1: let Magrath fucking run shit on his own because he's
[49:19] Speaker 1: a loose cannon in a holding cell Velasco and Howard.
[49:23] Speaker 1: There's also this guy in the colding cell that just
[49:25] Speaker 1: keeps coughing. And this is right after COVID, I think,
[49:29] Speaker 1: and so Velasco just keeps being like, oh, I'll get
[49:31] Speaker 1: him away from me, and Velasko and Howard are chatting.
[49:34] Speaker 2: But I also think the guy smells oh yeah, because
[49:38] Speaker 2: he covers his like he goes caeh. Because a part
[49:42] Speaker 2: of me thought they did that to him on purpose,
[49:44] Speaker 2: because they're kind of pissed because they could have put
[49:47] Speaker 2: him somewhere else, but they put him next. In my head,
[49:51] Speaker 2: it may be someone that's been on the street for
[49:52] Speaker 2: a while that probably has been the only part of
[49:55] Speaker 2: me is like they were like fuck you, and he's like, oh, like,
[49:59] Speaker 2: I've got to reek vibe from him.
[50:01] Speaker 1: Absolutely, I'm sure he's I'm sure this man is not
[50:04] Speaker 1: hygenically killing it. But I also think they put Velasco
[50:08] Speaker 1: in there to maintain his cover because they just said
[50:11] Speaker 1: that and they're like, if we put him in here
[50:13] Speaker 1: with Howard, he'll never think that this guy is anything
[50:16] Speaker 1: but part of this. You're, you know, like on his
[50:19] Speaker 1: same side. But yeah, So in a holding cell they
[50:23] Speaker 1: have a little chat. Howard's like, just keep your mouth shut.
[50:25] Speaker 1: At the hospital, Jenna's piss like, you call my parents
[50:28] Speaker 1: without asking me. They're like, babe, you're sixteen. You had
[50:31] Speaker 1: rehypno alcohol, weed and MDMA in your system. And she's like,
[50:35] Speaker 1: I don't do ecstasy. I just take Addie. I bought
[50:37] Speaker 1: it online. I have ADHD And then she tells them
[50:40] Speaker 1: that she met Howard on a class trip to DC.
[50:43] Speaker 1: He took a picture with her, asked for her number,
[50:46] Speaker 1: and then started following her on Insta. You think people
[50:49] Speaker 1: don't know when a congressman is following a teen on Insta?
[50:52] Speaker 1: Like if weien or taught us anything, you cannot get
[50:55] Speaker 1: away with that shit.
[50:56] Speaker 4: People see who you're following.
[50:58] Speaker 1: And anyway, she's like, I'm interested in politics, like climate change.
[51:01] Speaker 1: He said he could get me an internship, and she's like,
[51:04] Speaker 1: I saw him mostly in the summer parties. We went
[51:07] Speaker 1: on a yacht once and like, you're inviting your high
[51:10] Speaker 1: school interns on a yacht. It's just so gross. And
[51:12] Speaker 1: then we got They ask if things got physical, and
[51:15] Speaker 1: she goes, no, nothing happened. And they're like, well, he
[51:17] Speaker 1: drugged you and took you to a bedroom. And she's like, well,
[51:21] Speaker 1: I just give him massages, which is not illegal. He
[51:23] Speaker 1: went to law school, Like she is parroting things he
[51:26] Speaker 1: told her, like, you know, just tell him I gave
[51:27] Speaker 1: you a massage, that's not or you give me a massage,
[51:29] Speaker 1: it's not illegal.
[51:30] Speaker 4: So now we're in interrogation.
[51:31] Speaker 1: We've got Howard, his guy Gold CARRIESI and Benson, and
[51:36] Speaker 1: Howard goes the vac.
[51:37] Speaker 4: The girl's vax card said she was eighteen.
[51:40] Speaker 1: It's like a vax card, okay, dude, And he's like
[51:43] Speaker 1: she must have taken something.
[51:44] Speaker 4: She looked dizzy. I took her to the bedroom.
[51:47] Speaker 1: I administered CPR, and lives like, if somebody's just dizzy,
[51:50] Speaker 1: you don't give them CPR. That's if someone's like heart stops,
[51:53] Speaker 1: like I don't even know what this fucking guy is
[51:56] Speaker 1: talking about. And lives like, oh, you did CPR with
[51:58] Speaker 1: your pants on zipped, which I do like when she
[52:00] Speaker 1: does that, like when they go I was just helping
[52:02] Speaker 1: her up in that other episode, and she goes with
[52:04] Speaker 1: your penis like she's always got a good line in
[52:06] Speaker 1: there and lives like do you always party with teenagers?
[52:10] Speaker 1: And his lawyer is like, he is single with a
[52:13] Speaker 1: spotless record. This is a political witch hunt, and I'm
[52:16] Speaker 1: immediately like, you're gonna run for president and you're single,
[52:19] Speaker 1: not in this whack ass country.
[52:20] Speaker 4: They're they're not gonna vote for you.
[52:23] Speaker 1: They bring up the apartment building with the single moms
[52:26] Speaker 1: and he admits, I go there because my mom has
[52:28] Speaker 1: a Pieta tear there. They like slap down the pictures
[52:31] Speaker 1: of these three moms and are going, oh, really, which
[52:33] Speaker 1: one of these women is your mom? And he goes,
[52:35] Speaker 1: I don't know these women, and they're like, oh really,
[52:37] Speaker 1: because they know you and we have security footage of
[52:40] Speaker 1: you on their floors, and this fuck goes I'm doing
[52:43] Speaker 1: due diligence, and his lawyer is like, I know it's
[52:47] Speaker 1: every eighty's wet dream to bring down a presidential contender,
[52:50] Speaker 1: but we're done here. And Howard wants to know which party,
[52:55] Speaker 1: Just tell me which party sent you guys after me,
[52:57] Speaker 1: Like was it my party or was it the opposing part?
[53:00] Speaker 1: Because you don't know in politics, right, could be your
[53:02] Speaker 1: it could be the people that are on your own
[53:03] Speaker 1: team trying to take you down and lives like no,
[53:06] Speaker 1: dumb ass, you're a predator and we're SVU and we're
[53:09] Speaker 1: gonna nail your ass. So this actually doesn't have anything
[53:11] Speaker 1: to do with like your little donkey or your little elephant,
[53:14] Speaker 1: you know.
[53:14] Speaker 4: Oh, and I will say.
[53:16] Speaker 1: I think it's interesting that they never say whether he's
[53:21] Speaker 1: a Republican, but you know that he is. Like they
[53:23] Speaker 1: don't say the parties, but you know that this man
[53:26] Speaker 1: is a Yeah.
[53:27] Speaker 2: I like all those things I've seen online where it's like, yeah,
[53:29] Speaker 2: for some reason, if someone's against like feeding children, you
[53:33] Speaker 2: know where they stand, like your antipe books, like right,
[53:36] Speaker 2: it's just kind of right.
[53:37] Speaker 4: Yeah, no, I get I get them.
[53:42] Speaker 1: So now Howard is being arraigned on charges of sex trafficking,
[53:47] Speaker 1: rape three and facilitating a sex offense with a controlled
[53:49] Speaker 1: substance and attempted rape. He pleads not guilty. His lawyer
[53:53] Speaker 1: keeps claiming it's political. The judge does not give a fuck,
[53:55] Speaker 1: But Charis, we do have to go on the record
[53:57] Speaker 1: and say both parties are raping teens. I would say
[54:00] Speaker 1: everyone both parties filled with pedophiles, but for other reasons,
[54:03] Speaker 1: we think he's Republican.
[54:05] Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, I mean, but even him.
[54:09] Speaker 2: Like trying to help homeless people as anti Republican and
[54:13] Speaker 2: he's doing it to rape. But like I feel Marchada
[54:17] Speaker 2: would have been would not have worked with someone like him. Yeah,
[54:22] Speaker 2: that's fasting.
[54:23] Speaker 4: Who knows.
[54:24] Speaker 1: Maybe there's money flowing into her organization for it. I mean,
[54:27] Speaker 1: they obviously have something on her that she would even
[54:29] Speaker 1: be doing this.
[54:30] Speaker 2: They would just be giving it to like, you know,
[54:32] Speaker 2: fake abortion clinics. Like I just can't imagine even to
[54:37] Speaker 2: rape people, a Republican helping the homeless, Like, I don't know,
[54:41] Speaker 2: I'm confusing.
[54:42] Speaker 4: Yeah, well, and they just.
[54:46] Speaker 1: They say later that I think she's stealing from Proud Life,
[54:49] Speaker 1: So I think that's why, Like, but I couldn't tell
[54:51] Speaker 1: that was real or not. But if she is, that
[54:53] Speaker 1: could be why she's in bed with them, because otherwise
[54:55] Speaker 1: they're gonna like, you.
[54:57] Speaker 2: Know, well, yeah she's feeling funny than gotta got it.
[55:00] Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, but yeah, ideologically it doesn't make sense.
[55:04] Speaker 2: I just feel like if this was a congress person,
[55:06] Speaker 2: their constituents would be mad that taxpayer money went to
[55:09] Speaker 2: help the homeless. Yeah, it would be like, how dare
[55:12] Speaker 2: you I have to work for them to get their apartment?
[55:14] Speaker 2: Like it's just such an anti conservative thing. Yes, absolutely,
[55:20] Speaker 2: free housing.
[55:21] Speaker 1: No no no, no, no no no, I don't think
[55:23] Speaker 1: so welfare queens. So Careese wants remand but the judge
[55:29] Speaker 1: settles on him surrendering his passport. And now McGrath is
[55:32] Speaker 1: about to start a press conference with Benson and Careesy,
[55:35] Speaker 1: and Benson's like, are we waiting for Garland? But McGrath
[55:38] Speaker 1: is icing Garland out and Live looks uncomfortable about it.
[55:41] Speaker 1: We see Garland watching the press conference, humiliating and he's like,
[55:45] Speaker 1: asks assistance, why isn't this on my schedule? And she's like,
[55:48] Speaker 1: I don't know, no one told me. Maybe the email
[55:50] Speaker 1: went to spam And it's like, girl, it seems like
[55:52] Speaker 1: you probably get most of his appointments, right, this is
[55:54] Speaker 1: on purpose. And then when she leaves, he's like, he
[55:56] Speaker 1: doesn't get mad at her. He's like, it's okay, it's okay,
[55:58] Speaker 1: and then she leaves and he just he's also are
[56:00] Speaker 1: remote at a wall.
[56:01] Speaker 4: He is pissed. Okay.
[56:02] Speaker 1: We don't see Garland get this mad usually, so then
[56:06] Speaker 1: he walks in on Live, popping more advil, and she
[56:09] Speaker 1: wants to apologize for the press conference he didn't know,
[56:13] Speaker 1: she didn't know he wasn't coming, or she's like, I
[56:14] Speaker 1: never would have done this press conference if I knew
[56:16] Speaker 1: that you weren't like coming, and then uh, McGrath.
[56:19] Speaker 4: Garland's like, oh, it's okay.
[56:20] Speaker 1: I took to McGrath and it was a communication era
[56:22] Speaker 1: from the staff, not in an intentional slight, which we
[56:25] Speaker 1: all know isn't true. And I think he knows isn't true.
[56:27] Speaker 1: He knows how it's not true. Why is she saying
[56:29] Speaker 1: that to him? Because she does in a second, like
[56:33] Speaker 1: I don't know why she doesn't hear.
[56:35] Speaker 4: But then Garland goes.
[56:36] Speaker 1: This is all moving so fast, like that's probably why
[56:38] Speaker 1: they didn't tell me about the UC at the fundraiser,
[56:41] Speaker 1: and Live goes, but that's not really how that went down.
[56:43] Speaker 1: It wasn't because like things were moving too fast, like
[56:47] Speaker 1: he like, I think it's like she's about to tell
[56:49] Speaker 1: him he specifically didn't want you to, you know, be
[56:54] Speaker 1: But I don't understand police ranking, so I don't really
[56:57] Speaker 1: understand like lives not allowed to call out shitty stuff
[57:00] Speaker 1: that McGrath is doing to her commanding officer like it's
[57:05] Speaker 1: it's shitty, but I guess these are the systems that
[57:07] Speaker 1: powerful men set up so people like can't tell on
[57:10] Speaker 1: them for their bad behavior.
[57:11] Speaker 4: And it's because he's friends with Marchada.
[57:14] Speaker 1: It's I think he just doesn't like he doesn't like him,
[57:18] Speaker 1: and he doesn't want him to get any of the
[57:19] Speaker 1: glory for this, and he doesn't like Garland anything's he
[57:21] Speaker 1: makes bad decisions. And also I think because they're writing
[57:24] Speaker 1: him off the show, so they want it to make
[57:25] Speaker 1: it look like he's, you know, not doing a good job.
[57:28] Speaker 1: I guess or that someone has it out for him,
[57:30] Speaker 1: and I think it's McGrath. I don't think it's all
[57:33] Speaker 1: about the Machado thing, but who knows. So then they
[57:37] Speaker 1: talk about Catalina and he's like, it's hard to believe
[57:40] Speaker 1: someone who did so much good got caught up in
[57:43] Speaker 1: all of this, and Live is like, Babe, she did
[57:45] Speaker 1: not get caught up.
[57:46] Speaker 4: She orchestrated this whole damn thing.
[57:48] Speaker 1: And Garland's like, you're right, and he's like, I acknowledge
[57:52] Speaker 1: I have my blind spots.
[57:53] Speaker 4: And he appreciates Live.
[57:54] Speaker 1: He's like, thank you for pointing my blind spots out
[57:56] Speaker 1: for me to me and for having my back, and
[57:58] Speaker 1: she's like always, but you know, things are not looking
[58:00] Speaker 1: good for him career wise.
[58:02] Speaker 4: So now we've got Belasco. We also didn't have his back.
[58:05] Speaker 1: Well, she has his back as much as she can,
[58:08] Speaker 1: like she That's what I'm saying. I don't think she
[58:10] Speaker 1: can stand up to McGrath that much. She told him
[58:13] Speaker 1: Garland's loyal to the NYPD, like you can let Garland
[58:16] Speaker 1: in on stuff, like he is on your side. He's
[58:17] Speaker 1: not with Catalina, he's not. He's a good guy. And
[58:20] Speaker 1: she goes, let's wait for Garland. But like if the
[58:23] Speaker 1: main guy is going shut the fuck up, she can't
[58:25] Speaker 1: do much. I guess, you know, I guess, I don't know.
[58:28] Speaker 1: So she would do it for Stabler.
[58:32] Speaker 4: She would.
[58:33] Speaker 1: She would probably put more of her neck on the
[58:35] Speaker 1: line for him for sure.
[58:37] Speaker 4: Which is fine.
[58:38] Speaker 2: She doesn't have to sacrifice her career for you know
[58:40] Speaker 2: this dude. But it's just, yeah, it's unfortunate, and I
[58:44] Speaker 2: just hit him a grath, like I don't. I feel
[58:47] Speaker 2: like McGrath even makes me more mad than old Tucker,
[58:49] Speaker 2: like old Dodds. Yeah, Dodds was annoying too, dogs a ship.
[58:56] Speaker 2: This guy felt like he just hamrath More.
[58:58] Speaker 1: Yeah, McGrath is worse, but old Dodds was really shitty
[59:01] Speaker 1: to live too.
[59:02] Speaker 2: I just hate anyone that comes in and tries to
[59:04] Speaker 2: boss her around like she hasn't been there for decades,
[59:06] Speaker 2: Like it's just like crazy, and I know it happened.
[59:08] Speaker 4: They would not be doing if she had a penis. Yeah.
[59:11] Speaker 1: So, but now we've got Velasco and he's running through
[59:14] Speaker 1: his testimony for Cares and Rollins, and.
[59:17] Speaker 4: Howard is like he goes.
[59:18] Speaker 1: Howard told me some men like melons, some like mangoes,
[59:21] Speaker 1: he likes cherries.
[59:23] Speaker 4: Bus ugh.
[59:25] Speaker 1: We now are getting a montage of everybody going through
[59:28] Speaker 1: kind of their testimony. Okay, it's Velasco or Tease, Catalina, Polly,
[59:33] Speaker 1: Jenna Rosa. They're all going through their testimony against Howard.
[59:37] Speaker 1: Rosa's is particularly disturbing because she's detailing like this sadistic
[59:40] Speaker 1: fuck like assaulting her two to three times a week
[59:43] Speaker 1: and threatening to send her back to the shelter if
[59:45] Speaker 1: she didn't submit. And now Howard and Gold are talking
[59:48] Speaker 1: to Benson and Careesi saying, no one's gonna believe these
[59:51] Speaker 1: homeless women and Cataline is just trying to save her
[59:53] Speaker 1: own ass because she was stealing from Proud Life or whatever.
[59:56] Speaker 1: And then Carisi says, any deal offered is going to
[1:00:00] Speaker 1: mean this guy goes on the registry and gets prison time,
[1:00:02] Speaker 1: and Howard laughs and goes, I'm not going to prison.
[1:00:05] Speaker 1: I'm going to be president of the d LULU Party
[1:00:08] Speaker 1: like he is not. It's like, even being involved in this,
[1:00:11] Speaker 1: I think would get you out of the race for president.
[1:00:13] Speaker 1: Like even just the arrest, you could be completely cleared.
[1:00:16] Speaker 1: You're not going to run for president then, you know,
[1:00:19] Speaker 1: like guests couldn't even become Attorney general. Like I just
[1:00:22] Speaker 1: don't sure about Our president is a felon, but that
[1:00:25] Speaker 1: happened after he was already president. He was convicted of
[1:00:29] Speaker 1: the felonies after he was already president.
[1:00:31] Speaker 4: But yes, his people don't care. That's a cult for sure.
[1:00:34] Speaker 1: I just think if you're like a young, single, random Republican,
[1:00:37] Speaker 1: I don't think that everyone's going to be like I
[1:00:40] Speaker 1: don't know. I feel I do feel Donald Trump is
[1:00:42] Speaker 1: a special case, but I could be totally wrong. So
[1:00:46] Speaker 1: he calls Careesi a politically motivated Ada and Live a
[1:00:49] Speaker 1: bitter woman cop who spent her life getting back at men.
[1:00:52] Speaker 1: It's like, yeah, thank god she has men need to
[1:00:55] Speaker 1: get be gout and back at He's literally pulling some
[1:00:57] Speaker 1: of this, like do you know who I am? Shit
[1:00:59] Speaker 1: saying that Gold snaps his fingers Careesy loses his job
[1:01:02] Speaker 1: and Benson's on traffic duty in Staten Island.
[1:01:06] Speaker 4: What are you talking about, Allie?
[1:01:07] Speaker 2: This? I actually I think out in the wild or
[1:01:11] Speaker 2: if I see a video, that's another thing that roules
[1:01:13] Speaker 2: me up of like you're not gonna have a job
[1:01:15] Speaker 2: or tell I'm gonna make sure you're moved there, Like
[1:01:20] Speaker 2: I really don't like that.
[1:01:22] Speaker 1: It violates with your don't fuck with people's money tenant
[1:01:24] Speaker 1: of your of your morals.
[1:01:28] Speaker 4: You don't do that. I did it once. Yeah, and
[1:01:30] Speaker 4: it's bad.
[1:01:31] Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, it's you're right, but just the brazen, just
[1:01:39] Speaker 2: the fucking Who the fuck do you think you are
[1:01:42] Speaker 2: talking to Benson like this?
[1:01:43] Speaker 1: Like I know, I know, I know, it's just a
[1:01:46] Speaker 1: captain on the NYPD, Like it's just whatever. Gold asks
[1:01:50] Speaker 1: for a moment with his client because he realizes he's dealing.
[1:01:53] Speaker 4: With a fucking child.
[1:01:54] Speaker 1: Okay, so he pulls Gold pulls Howard into the stairwell
[1:01:57] Speaker 1: and he's like, you should have kept your pants zipped
[1:01:59] Speaker 1: and nine to keep your mouth shut, and Howard yells
[1:02:02] Speaker 1: at him, make this go away, and Gold just bitch
[1:02:04] Speaker 1: slaps this little fuck right across the face and it's
[1:02:07] Speaker 1: so good, and he goes, shut up, you idiot, and
[1:02:09] Speaker 1: he's like, yes, you really don't see it coming.
[1:02:12] Speaker 4: It's such an exciting moment. It's so good.
[1:02:16] Speaker 2: I don't think we've ever seen it in the history
[1:02:17] Speaker 2: of this show. Like it really is a fun ass thing,
[1:02:21] Speaker 2: and it's what we want.
[1:02:22] Speaker 4: We hate this motherfucker.
[1:02:23] Speaker 2: He just came for Benson like fuck you, and then
[1:02:26] Speaker 2: he gets slapped by this guy, and then you see
[1:02:29] Speaker 2: who's really in power. It's very Jonah from Veeb without
[1:02:32] Speaker 2: the jokes, like yes.
[1:02:35] Speaker 4: Yeah, exactly like this.
[1:02:37] Speaker 1: This guy Gold is the king maker and he could
[1:02:39] Speaker 1: make anybody happen. But you're being a fucking idiot. And
[1:02:41] Speaker 1: he's like, you're stupider than they told me you were,
[1:02:43] Speaker 1: which I love that. Everybody's like talking about how dumby
[1:02:45] Speaker 1: your asses. So in the stairwell, Gold is like, oh goodness.
[1:02:50] Speaker 1: So as they're having this combo in the stairwell, caresium
[1:02:53] Speaker 1: Benson are eavesdropping and they're like, we can't use any
[1:02:56] Speaker 1: of this in court, so we probably should just walk away,
[1:02:58] Speaker 1: I guess. But they've heard everything, like they know that
[1:02:59] Speaker 1: this guy is a piece of shit and that Gold
[1:03:01] Speaker 1: calls the shots now.
[1:03:03] Speaker 2: But it's also like even though they can't talk about this,
[1:03:05] Speaker 2: it's like it infers something.
[1:03:07] Speaker 4: There's more inform me, and you know, it's a giant clue.
[1:03:09] Speaker 2: Yeah, Like it's so useful to see him getting slapped
[1:03:12] Speaker 2: and be like, Okay, there's more to all this, even
[1:03:16] Speaker 2: if like it's not for a cord, it's right, definitely
[1:03:19] Speaker 2: a peek in. So yeah, it is really thrilling. And
[1:03:23] Speaker 2: I also think it's a little comedic with them behind
[1:03:26] Speaker 2: like a marble column being like woo, Like it felt
[1:03:30] Speaker 2: very like yeah, it's like it's.
[1:03:33] Speaker 1: Yeah, and like for this guy Gold, who's like this
[1:03:36] Speaker 1: massive like lawyer and we find out later extremely powerful,
[1:03:40] Speaker 1: like you're not doing stairwell conversations, like you're not come on,
[1:03:43] Speaker 1: like anyone could be down a stairwell, Like I think
[1:03:45] Speaker 1: this guy's taking you into another conference room or going
[1:03:48] Speaker 1: shut your fucking mouth, you.
[1:03:49] Speaker 4: Know, but I think he's pissed.
[1:03:51] Speaker 1: Yeah, he's pissed and I'm the slap is fantastic. Corisi
[1:03:55] Speaker 1: and Rawlins are now about to go to dinner when
[1:03:57] Speaker 1: they're like, she finally convinces him stop working.
[1:04:00] Speaker 4: We have a budding romance. Let's go out to dinner.
[1:04:02] Speaker 1: And then uh their phones ring, uh oh, sirens. Cops
[1:04:07] Speaker 1: are everywhere. Finn and Creese go into a building. They
[1:04:10] Speaker 1: go into a dark bathroom where someone is dead in
[1:04:12] Speaker 1: the tub. Done done, it's Ruben Ortiz. Then we see
[1:04:16] Speaker 1: we've seen this kind of thing before. We see Pollie
[1:04:18] Speaker 1: in prison getting surrounded by a gang of guys.
[1:04:20] Speaker 4: He's going, guys, you don't have to do this, you
[1:04:22] Speaker 4: don't have to do this, and then they just beat
[1:04:23] Speaker 4: the shit out of him.
[1:04:24] Speaker 1: And when they zoom out, there's a prison guard standing
[1:04:26] Speaker 1: right outside, like standing watch and not doing anything.
[1:04:29] Speaker 4: And then yeah, it's bad. We get to Rosa.
[1:04:33] Speaker 1: She's watching TV and she gets a phone call but
[1:04:36] Speaker 1: it's just a hang up and she's like, stop calling me,
[1:04:38] Speaker 1: and then she goes to the window and she sees
[1:04:40] Speaker 1: men heading into her building. So she wakes up her
[1:04:42] Speaker 1: son and she's like, wake up, wake up, we gotta go.
[1:04:44] Speaker 1: Then we see Catalina Machado dead on top of a car,
[1:04:48] Speaker 1: having jumped from a building allegedly. H Benson tells Rollins,
[1:04:53] Speaker 1: we gotta find Rosa and Jenna now, and that is
[1:04:56] Speaker 1: the end of this part one episode. Okay, it is
[1:04:59] Speaker 1: like you watch House of Cards and all this stuff
[1:05:02] Speaker 1: and like, yeah, there are some sketchy things in Washington
[1:05:04] Speaker 1: we've heard of, but like you never hear about like
[1:05:07] Speaker 1: five witnesses in a case all being like murdered, you know,
[1:05:11] Speaker 1: or like or do you hello Boeing? Yeah, that's true,
[1:05:14] Speaker 1: the Boeing thing. Yeah, it's true. But with politicians, like specifically,
[1:05:20] Speaker 1: I'm like, people are watching what you're doing, and I
[1:05:24] Speaker 1: just think it's like you think, now this guy's gonna
[1:05:26] Speaker 1: run for president. Everybody that was in his involved in
[1:05:29] Speaker 1: this scandal is dead. Like I don't know, it just
[1:05:31] Speaker 1: it seems very TV to me.
[1:05:33] Speaker 2: But also like, why wasn't this guy in protective custody?
[1:05:36] Speaker 2: Like yeah, today.
[1:05:39] Speaker 4: About it.
[1:05:40] Speaker 1: It's like the day before they're testifying the trials, the
[1:05:42] Speaker 1: next day guard officers on them like it makes no
[1:05:47] Speaker 1: sense or safe houses or whatever you do. Okay, So
[1:05:51] Speaker 1: then episode two and Never Turn Your Back on Them
[1:05:54] Speaker 1: begins and it's reporters at the scene of Catalina's alleged suicide,
[1:05:57] Speaker 1: recapping everything that's been going on, so you know, in
[1:06:00] Speaker 1: case you're just tuning into this episode, you now now
[1:06:02] Speaker 1: what's just happened.
[1:06:04] Speaker 4: Okay.
[1:06:04] Speaker 1: Garland shows up to the scene of Catalina's body smashed
[1:06:08] Speaker 1: on a car, and Benson uh breaks the news to
[1:06:11] Speaker 1: him about Ortiz also, and he's like, Kat is looking
[1:06:14] Speaker 1: for Rosa. Jenna and her fam aren't answering their phones,
[1:06:17] Speaker 1: so Howard is cleaning house or someone's doing it for him,
[1:06:20] Speaker 1: Like this guy still thinks he's running for president. There's
[1:06:23] Speaker 1: no way he did any of this dirty work himself, right,
[1:06:25] Speaker 1: So Kat shows up at Rosa's she's still there.
[1:06:28] Speaker 4: Wildly.
[1:06:29] Speaker 1: She says she got a call to keep her mouth
[1:06:31] Speaker 1: shut or they'll hurtfully fait. Why would they just tell
[1:06:33] Speaker 1: Rosa keep your mouth show? Wh wouldn't they kill her too?
[1:06:36] Speaker 1: But just letting some people live and some people not
[1:06:38] Speaker 1: like they obviously.
[1:06:39] Speaker 2: Well, because the other guys have more like enemies, maybe
[1:06:43] Speaker 2: like maybe with her it would be extra suspicious, you know,
[1:06:47] Speaker 2: because yes, it's like, oh, it's a jail Sabba, Like
[1:06:49] Speaker 2: I don't know, it's more maybe with I'm just guessing.
[1:06:53] Speaker 4: I don't know.
[1:06:53] Speaker 1: Yeah, that's true. A jail sabbing. She was stealing from
[1:06:56] Speaker 1: her company. He was betraying his friend or something like that.
[1:07:00] Speaker 1: They could you know, there could be all kinds of yeah,
[1:07:03] Speaker 1: but maybe it's a little more obvious. Yeah, maybe they
[1:07:06] Speaker 1: have a heart because she has a child. But so
[1:07:09] Speaker 1: she saw the guys outside and she's like, I'm out
[1:07:12] Speaker 1: of here. I'm taking the dollar bus to Buffalo, to
[1:07:14] Speaker 1: my cousin's house or whatever, and cats like please, like please, say,
[1:07:18] Speaker 1: here's this uniformed officer who's gonna stay and keep you safe.
[1:07:21] Speaker 1: And then she straight up lies and goes, you're safe
[1:07:22] Speaker 1: for here than you are there. We can protect you.
[1:07:25] Speaker 1: All those seem like lies. We've seen it not work
[1:07:27] Speaker 1: out many times. I would never help. I would never help.
[1:07:31] Speaker 2: I don't think I would ever testify against a criminal enterprise.
[1:07:34] Speaker 4: Yes I would. I'd be like, I will zoom you
[1:07:37] Speaker 4: from Buffalo.
[1:07:38] Speaker 1: I'll zoom and tell you on my info, and I'll
[1:07:39] Speaker 1: come back down in an armored car for the trial.
[1:07:42] Speaker 4: Why to Buffalo, because that's where she was going. Oh okay, yeah.
[1:07:46] Speaker 1: Like I'd be like, I'm going to Buffalo I'll zoom
[1:07:48] Speaker 1: you from there and get all the inbo and then
[1:07:50] Speaker 1: when we're ready, bring me down in an armored tank
[1:07:52] Speaker 1: to New York and I'll testify. Because this does feel
[1:07:55] Speaker 1: so house of cards, like just the way that it's like, oh,
[1:07:58] Speaker 1: politicians can get to anybody and blah blah blah and
[1:08:01] Speaker 1: that quickly.
[1:08:01] Speaker 4: That's like a quick, yeah, quick night before the trial.
[1:08:06] Speaker 1: So at Rikers Finn shows up to find out that
[1:08:09] Speaker 1: Paul Binducci is dead from a crack skull.
[1:08:12] Speaker 4: It wasn't just a beating.
[1:08:13] Speaker 1: And then the guy who's like the emmy at the
[1:08:15] Speaker 1: prison is like, I don't know CEOs inmates, nobody likes
[1:08:19] Speaker 1: the rapists, like it could have been anybody.
[1:08:21] Speaker 4: Who did this, you know.
[1:08:22] Speaker 1: And now they're in Bayone, which is the hometown of
[1:08:25] Speaker 1: one of our recent guests, and Rollins and Belasco are going, yeah,
[1:08:31] Speaker 1: that's where Tammy Blinchard is from. That's where she lives
[1:08:33] Speaker 1: and where she's from Bayon, New Jersey.
[1:08:36] Speaker 4: Okay, wow, you have such a good memory with that.
[1:08:38] Speaker 4: That's like yeah, because she's like just such a Jersey girl.
[1:08:43] Speaker 1: But Rollins and Alasko are on the way to try
[1:08:46] Speaker 1: to find Jenna her parents roll up to the house
[1:08:49] Speaker 1: and they're like, what are you doing here?
[1:08:51] Speaker 4: Jenna's a sleep upstairs. We just went to dinner.
[1:08:53] Speaker 1: They're like, you haven't been answering your fucking phones, like
[1:08:55] Speaker 1: we were watching the game. It's like your daughter is
[1:08:58] Speaker 1: fucking testifying against a cong person tomorrow, Like, what are
[1:09:02] Speaker 1: you doing? Just needed to unwind a little bit before
[1:09:04] Speaker 1: your teen daughter takes on a politician, Like, Okay, in
[1:09:09] Speaker 1: the house, there's blood on the ground. They bust into
[1:09:11] Speaker 1: her room, She's not there. The dad is screaming, where
[1:09:14] Speaker 1: is she? Where is my daughter? Rollinson's like, I think
[1:09:16] Speaker 1: maybe she jumped. Her window was open, like she could
[1:09:18] Speaker 1: have made it to the floor to the ground. So
[1:09:21] Speaker 1: the blood, they figure out is probably from the dog.
[1:09:23] Speaker 1: They have a dog named Maverick getting a bite of
[1:09:25] Speaker 1: the bad guy, and they think Jenna probably jumped out
[1:09:28] Speaker 1: like herd Maverick jumped out the window and escaped on
[1:09:30] Speaker 1: her bike.
[1:09:31] Speaker 4: She even left her phone there.
[1:09:32] Speaker 1: So now we're getting the idea also that we haven't
[1:09:35] Speaker 1: met him in the first episode. But the dad is
[1:09:36] Speaker 1: a real fucking asshole, and he runs this home with
[1:09:38] Speaker 1: an iron fist and Blast goes like the mom and
[1:09:42] Speaker 1: the daughter don't really want to, the mom won't really
[1:09:43] Speaker 1: say much in front of the husband or whatever, and
[1:09:46] Speaker 1: Belasco's like, oh, I think I left my phone back
[1:09:49] Speaker 1: in the house, and because he wants to go take
[1:09:50] Speaker 1: another crack at the mom because he's like, I'm Danny
[1:09:52] Speaker 1: Zuko type, you know, blondes love me. So we cut
[1:09:55] Speaker 1: to Howard getting hounded by the press and he's giving
[1:09:58] Speaker 1: this whole song and dance about, you know, mourning his friends,
[1:10:01] Speaker 1: but also all this criminal activity was them, and NYPD
[1:10:04] Speaker 1: is framing me, and it's political. Like he's basically saying
[1:10:07] Speaker 1: Ruben Ortiz took his own life because he felt bad
[1:10:10] Speaker 1: about letting NYPD frame his friend and whatever. Benson, Creese
[1:10:15] Speaker 1: and Garland are all watching this, and they're like, wow,
[1:10:18] Speaker 1: I would say this actor is hotter than Matt Gates
[1:10:22] Speaker 1: by a lot. Oh ing, yes, yes, this actor Ben
[1:10:27] Speaker 1: Rapaport much better looking than mac Getz for sure. And
[1:10:33] Speaker 1: because if Matt, if I watched this, he probably felt
[1:10:36] Speaker 1: good about himself.
[1:10:37] Speaker 4: You're listening, He's probably like, you think I can get
[1:10:40] Speaker 4: high school girls.
[1:10:42] Speaker 1: But Benson, Creese, Garland, they're all watching this. They're like, Wow,
[1:10:45] Speaker 1: these guys are going to war. They're wiping people out.
[1:10:47] Speaker 1: McGrath barges in, what the hell we lost our whole case.
[1:10:50] Speaker 1: This couldn't because I'm a hot headed glory hog put it,
[1:10:53] Speaker 1: and Garland is like telling McGrath like, yeah, bro, this
[1:10:57] Speaker 1: is what I was worried about. Like and he obviously
[1:10:59] Speaker 1: take zero accountability and he's like fine, Jenna. And then
[1:11:02] Speaker 1: McGrath gets a call and it is like, well, good
[1:11:05] Speaker 1: police work. Velasco just saved our asses. So we find
[1:11:08] Speaker 1: out that Jenna, as she's running away from possible murder
[1:11:15] Speaker 1: or whatever, has decided to message Q. She's decided, you
[1:11:19] Speaker 1: know who I'm in a message, This influencer I met
[1:11:21] Speaker 1: for five seconds before I got roofied the other night.
[1:11:24] Speaker 1: That's who I'm going to message on some app from
[1:11:27] Speaker 1: a burner phone and crazy, it's crazy, And so she
[1:11:33] Speaker 1: he goes it's she messaged me, I replied, and then
[1:11:36] Speaker 1: she ghosted it's a burner phone. They're like, we got
[1:11:39] Speaker 1: to track the calls on the burner. He's like, I
[1:11:40] Speaker 1: already did that. And then there there's this one number
[1:11:43] Speaker 1: that calls that burner every Tuesday and Friday. At four twenty,
[1:11:46] Speaker 1: Kat's ears perk up she goes, maybe it's a weed dealer.
[1:11:49] Speaker 1: They're like, well, we need to track the number to
[1:11:51] Speaker 1: an address, and he's like, already did that the number
[1:11:53] Speaker 1: that's been calling, so.
[1:11:54] Speaker 4: They so they're pressed.
[1:11:56] Speaker 2: Everyone's like, oh, oh, maybe all this boy already the guy.
[1:12:01] Speaker 1: Does all of his busy work, so he's done all
[1:12:03] Speaker 1: of the investigating, and they basically end up at this
[1:12:06] Speaker 1: house in Brooklyn. It looks like it's the house of
[1:12:08] Speaker 1: maybe a hip hop musician. It seems like they went
[1:12:11] Speaker 1: out to a lot of trouble of locations and getting
[1:12:14] Speaker 1: this whole place set up for like a truly sixty
[1:12:18] Speaker 1: second conversation where he's like, yeah, that's Chris, my weed dealer,
[1:12:21] Speaker 1: but he wouldn't kidnap anyone. And then they're like, okay,
[1:12:23] Speaker 1: what's his address and does his crew have weapons? And
[1:12:26] Speaker 1: the guy's like fuck okay. So now we're just swarming
[1:12:29] Speaker 1: the house the music there's music playing inside. They bust in.
[1:12:33] Speaker 1: They tell a bunch of guys like get down. Kat
[1:12:36] Speaker 1: goes along to the side of the house and when
[1:12:37] Speaker 1: she goes to open the side door, a couple of
[1:12:39] Speaker 1: shots ring out and hit her.
[1:12:41] Speaker 4: She's down.
[1:12:42] Speaker 1: The vest caught one of the shots, but the other
[1:12:44] Speaker 1: one snuck under her vest. So sadly, Kat is just
[1:12:47] Speaker 1: like bleeding with Luckily, she has Finn right next to her.
[1:12:50] Speaker 4: He's helping her. They're calling EMTs whatever.
[1:12:53] Speaker 1: Rollin's and Velasko search the house for Jenna, while Kat
[1:12:55] Speaker 1: is like, yeah, I said, bleeding on the side of
[1:12:57] Speaker 1: the house.
[1:12:58] Speaker 4: This guy has a gun. This guy comes up to them,
[1:13:00] Speaker 4: he's got a.
[1:13:01] Speaker 1: Gun, and he's like, well, Jenna told uf someone was
[1:13:03] Speaker 1: after us, and you guys didn't identify yourselves. And then
[1:13:05] Speaker 1: they're just like shut the fuck up and they just
[1:13:08] Speaker 1: pistol whip this.
[1:13:09] Speaker 2: It's like crazy, I am on his side. I mean,
[1:13:11] Speaker 2: is he bad, No, he's good.
[1:13:13] Speaker 1: I'm saying the same thing. I'm like, lol. Police work
[1:13:16] Speaker 1: like they didn't announce themselves. They go it's cute, Jenna,
[1:13:19] Speaker 1: open up, it's cute, like they never said they were police.
[1:13:21] Speaker 1: And they go into the house. They've got guns drawn
[1:13:23] Speaker 1: and Jenna. Someone is trying to kill Jenna, you know,
[1:13:26] Speaker 1: so he doesn't know. They didn't identify themselves. So I
[1:13:28] Speaker 1: don't think this guy did anything wrong, but they fully
[1:13:30] Speaker 1: pistol whip him. I hope he gets a suit against
[1:13:32] Speaker 1: the city. Well, I just don't know who he is.
[1:13:34] Speaker 1: So he's just like, I don't know if he's just
[1:13:36] Speaker 1: a weed dealer. Yeah, I'm on his side, but I
[1:13:38] Speaker 1: think he's just the weed dealer.
[1:13:39] Speaker 2: He'd better not be having any sexual relations with this team. No,
[1:13:44] Speaker 2: we what is the vibe? What's the vibe? Like, because
[1:13:48] Speaker 2: I'm on his side, it's like, you didn't announce yourselves,
[1:13:50] Speaker 2: you maniacs.
[1:13:52] Speaker 1: Yeah, we really never get to the bottom of why
[1:13:55] Speaker 1: Jenna fled to this place, Like we have no idea
[1:13:58] Speaker 1: why she's at, Like her friend is there, her friend Hayden,
[1:14:01] Speaker 1: the girl that they originally had. Like when they're going
[1:14:05] Speaker 1: up to try to find Jenna, she goes cue like
[1:14:07] Speaker 1: she's like, what are you doing here?
[1:14:08] Speaker 3: Cue?
[1:14:09] Speaker 1: Like Eddie's in a full cop outfit. She's like not
[1:14:11] Speaker 1: putting it together. And then we don't really know. It's
[1:14:15] Speaker 1: like she's friends with the weed dealer. Hayden's friends with
[1:14:17] Speaker 1: the weed dealer. We do not know why she's there.
[1:14:19] Speaker 1: We don't know how she doesn't have a phone, how
[1:14:22] Speaker 1: did she make her way to this house?
[1:14:24] Speaker 4: Whatever, Well, she'd probably lasts.
[1:14:25] Speaker 2: Weed there, so I guess, but she must have other
[1:14:28] Speaker 2: friends or maybe she is Sarah Brooklyn.
[1:14:30] Speaker 4: She lives in New Jersey, so she got into the
[1:14:32] Speaker 4: city to go to a weed dealer's site. It's like
[1:14:34] Speaker 4: a lot, It's just a lot.
[1:14:35] Speaker 1: It's a long day's journey in tonight to a drug
[1:14:37] Speaker 1: dealer's house when I don't know how any of this happened.
[1:14:40] Speaker 1: And now the funniest scene you want to talk about
[1:14:42] Speaker 1: camp The next scene is so fucking funny. Thelasco finds
[1:14:45] Speaker 1: Jenna on the roof of the house and she's trying
[1:14:47] Speaker 1: to get away, but it's really just this little roof
[1:14:50] Speaker 1: and she just keeps like throwing her body onto different
[1:14:53] Speaker 1: parts of the roof, but it's like, are you trying
[1:14:55] Speaker 1: to jump down or what are you doing? You're not
[1:14:58] Speaker 1: going anywhere. She gets closer to Alasco and then farther away,
[1:15:02] Speaker 1: literally she just They never do like a wide shot
[1:15:04] Speaker 1: because I think they're like, oh fuck, there's really not
[1:15:06] Speaker 1: enough like cat and Mouse, but they want to keep
[1:15:08] Speaker 1: her moving, so like she's just wrestling with the roof
[1:15:13] Speaker 1: and then Finn's on the way to the hospital with Cat.
[1:15:15] Speaker 1: She's hanging in there. Jenna is, yeah, telling Velasco, my
[1:15:19] Speaker 1: dad's gonna kill me, and it's like, dude, an actual
[1:15:22] Speaker 1: hitman came to kill you, but you're scared of your dad,
[1:15:24] Speaker 1: Like it's so crazy, bad dad, that's a bad dad. Yeah,
[1:15:28] Speaker 1: She's like, I should have stayed with the guy who
[1:15:30] Speaker 1: just broke into my house that my dog bit and
[1:15:32] Speaker 1: Belasco takes off his belt and shows Jenna, this is
[1:15:35] Speaker 1: the belt my dad used to hit me with when
[1:15:37] Speaker 1: I was a kid, and he used to beat my
[1:15:39] Speaker 1: mom too, so I know how it is.
[1:15:41] Speaker 4: And she's like, what did you do?
[1:15:42] Speaker 1: And he's like, one day I just had enough, so
[1:15:45] Speaker 1: he tried to I tried to stop my dad, and
[1:15:47] Speaker 1: he put me in the hospital. But then he went
[1:15:49] Speaker 1: to jail and our lives began. And then when he died,
[1:15:53] Speaker 1: he goes all anybody wanted was was his car, his money.
[1:15:56] Speaker 1: I wanted the damn belt. I wear it every day
[1:15:57] Speaker 1: to remind me why I do this job. I'm gonna
[1:16:00] Speaker 1: protect you, and you're want to teach you how to
[1:16:01] Speaker 1: protect yourself, but you got to trust me.
[1:16:03] Speaker 4: And then she grabs the belt and he like pulls
[1:16:05] Speaker 4: her over.
[1:16:06] Speaker 1: She literally could just stand up and walk to where
[1:16:08] Speaker 1: he is, but they're doing this whole belt thing like symbolically,
[1:16:11] Speaker 1: like she's not on a ledge. They've done other ledge
[1:16:14] Speaker 1: scenes on this show. It's so confusing. So she she
[1:16:18] Speaker 1: is gonna accept Velasco's help, and she's going to the
[1:16:21] Speaker 1: top of this weed house or whatever.
[1:16:23] Speaker 4: She's going inside.
[1:16:24] Speaker 1: Back in the ambulance, Cat is starting to crash and
[1:16:27] Speaker 1: Finn has to keep her awake, so he's telling her
[1:16:28] Speaker 1: a joke. He's like, Cat, Cat, you can't miss this punchline.
[1:16:31] Speaker 1: How many cops does it take to screw in a
[1:16:33] Speaker 1: light bulb? And then he goes none.
[1:16:34] Speaker 4: They bust the bulb for being broke and the room
[1:16:36] Speaker 4: for being black, which that's a good one. That's steel.
[1:16:42] Speaker 1: I want to say, is that Ice team made that up?
[1:16:45] Speaker 1: I want to say, I feel like Ice made that up.
[1:16:47] Speaker 4: That's good. I can't.
[1:16:48] Speaker 1: I mean, maybe a writer gave it to him, but
[1:16:50] Speaker 1: I feel like, in my mind, in my heart, he
[1:16:52] Speaker 1: made that up. Cat kind of smiles, so she heard
[1:16:55] Speaker 1: the joke. She's staying with him. They have this sweet
[1:16:57] Speaker 1: little relationship. But then very soon Cat starts and they're
[1:17:00] Speaker 1: doing the pads on her over and over again, like
[1:17:03] Speaker 1: the clear whatever, and Finn is just yelling Cat Cat
[1:17:07] Speaker 1: a defibrillator?
[1:17:07] Speaker 4: Is that what? It's called it just came to me,
[1:17:09] Speaker 4: not when I was writing my notes.
[1:17:10] Speaker 1: But at the er they wheel cat in Lives or
[1:17:13] Speaker 1: Live arrives, Finn feels guilty.
[1:17:15] Speaker 4: He's like, I.
[1:17:15] Speaker 1: Should have been in front Lives, Like, don't put that
[1:17:18] Speaker 1: on yourself.
[1:17:19] Speaker 4: Everybody's stressed.
[1:17:19] Speaker 1: They're in the middle of one of the biggest apartment
[1:17:21] Speaker 1: cases they probably had in years, and one of their
[1:17:24] Speaker 1: guys is down. Now they're upset. Jenna is now with
[1:17:27] Speaker 1: her parents talking to the squad. They try to explain
[1:17:30] Speaker 1: to her asshole dad that Howard might be behind whoever
[1:17:34] Speaker 1: broke in and tried to intimidate her from testifying, and
[1:17:36] Speaker 1: then dad keeps going, why is she even testifying? She
[1:17:39] Speaker 1: said nothing happened, and they go back and forth and
[1:17:42] Speaker 1: the dad keeps insisting nothing happened, nothing happened, and Belasco goes, well,
[1:17:46] Speaker 1: she ends up in the hospital. That's not nothing, like
[1:17:48] Speaker 1: she did, end up with drugs in her system and
[1:17:50] Speaker 1: she's sixteen, and the guy goes, don't you talk to
[1:17:54] Speaker 1: me about my family, Like it's so stupid. These two
[1:17:56] Speaker 1: just actually start now having a pissing contest's wearing off
[1:18:00] Speaker 1: at each other and they're like, we didn't mean to
[1:18:02] Speaker 1: disrespect you, and he goes he did he did, like
[1:18:04] Speaker 1: hit him in Velasco or whatever, and then he makes
[1:18:07] Speaker 1: his wife and daughter leave. He goes the two of
[1:18:09] Speaker 1: you up like he's such a prick, this dad, Like
[1:18:11] Speaker 1: he's like, I'm the man of the house. I run everything, okay,
[1:18:14] Speaker 1: And the mom has this like I wish I could
[1:18:16] Speaker 1: help you guys kind of look, you know. And so
[1:18:19] Speaker 1: now Benson and Rollins are talking to Careesi and they're like,
[1:18:22] Speaker 1: wear fucked.
[1:18:23] Speaker 4: Cat's shot. Three of our witnesses are dead.
[1:18:25] Speaker 1: Myron Gold is already filing emotion to dismiss and they're
[1:18:28] Speaker 1: getting nowhere with Jenna because she's scared of her dick
[1:18:31] Speaker 1: dad and now less like they're like, I hate to
[1:18:34] Speaker 1: say it, but Velasco has a good rapport with the mom.
[1:18:36] Speaker 1: Let's reach out to have him reach out to her.
[1:18:38] Speaker 1: Good news. For one moment of the show, Cat is
[1:18:41] Speaker 1: out of surgery back at the hospital, Cat's being Cat.
[1:18:45] Speaker 1: She's like, wow, dying, Like wasn't even cool. I didn't
[1:18:47] Speaker 1: even get to see a white light. Couldn't I have
[1:18:49] Speaker 1: floated over my body for a second. And then she's like,
[1:18:52] Speaker 1: but when I came out of the anesthesia. My mind
[1:18:54] Speaker 1: was racing. I kept thinking about Careese and Finn's like
[1:18:57] Speaker 1: Carreese and Kats.
[1:19:00] Speaker 4: It's like, not like that, Like she's a lesbian.
[1:19:02] Speaker 1: She's not coming out of a of a coma.
[1:19:05] Speaker 2: Being like, yeah, that hot guy I work with, Like
[1:19:09] Speaker 2: Finn doesn't respect less, Like he doesn't get it.
[1:19:12] Speaker 1: He doesn't get it. If you're a man in a
[1:19:14] Speaker 1: woman's dream, it's a boner dream. So yeah, she's like, no,
[1:19:18] Speaker 1: he told me he had no regrets about being a cop,
[1:19:20] Speaker 1: that he's where he's supposed to be. And she's like,
[1:19:22] Speaker 1: I'm wondering if I'm where I'm supposed to be.
[1:19:25] Speaker 4: She goes with SVU.
[1:19:26] Speaker 1: It always feels like we're there too late, and he's like, well,
[1:19:30] Speaker 1: I like to get the bad guys off the street,
[1:19:31] Speaker 1: and she's like yeah, but half the time the bad
[1:19:32] Speaker 1: guys plead out or they skate if they're rich. There's
[1:19:35] Speaker 1: got to be a way to be more proactive. And
[1:19:37] Speaker 1: it's like, I don't know, Like I think she's talking
[1:19:39] Speaker 1: about like educating men from the ground up, about like
[1:19:42] Speaker 1: about like fixing rape culture, Like I don't know what
[1:19:44] Speaker 1: she wants to have.
[1:19:44] Speaker 4: It feels very Cabot going to the congo.
[1:19:48] Speaker 1: Yes, exactly, exactly, except I don't know what congo there
[1:19:51] Speaker 1: is for, you know, cat. But Finn's like, you have
[1:19:55] Speaker 1: to just chill. You just got shot and came out
[1:19:57] Speaker 1: of surgery. Don't make any big life decisions right now.
[1:20:00] Speaker 1: And now we're at the precinct. Alasco has something. Jenna's
[1:20:03] Speaker 1: mother has proof that Howard had sex with her daughter.
[1:20:06] Speaker 1: She saved one of her dresses, and just as before
[1:20:10] Speaker 1: you can say Monica Lewinsky, he drops a bomb, going
[1:20:13] Speaker 1: Howard got Jenna pregnant when she was fifteen.
[1:20:17] Speaker 4: Done done So now their meeting with the mom.
[1:20:19] Speaker 1: She gives Benson and Alasko the dress in a plastic
[1:20:21] Speaker 1: bag and makes them swear that her husband won't find out.
[1:20:24] Speaker 1: He'll kill the guy and he'll kill me for not telling.
[1:20:26] Speaker 1: She explains the whole thing. Jenna met Howard on the
[1:20:28] Speaker 1: freshman class trip. They exchanged numbers, they texted about an internship.
[1:20:32] Speaker 1: The mom goes, that kind of made my radar go
[1:20:34] Speaker 1: up a little It's like, yeah, you're fifteen year old
[1:20:37] Speaker 1: at the time, daughter texting with a congressman.
[1:20:39] Speaker 4: That should make your radar go up a little bit.
[1:20:41] Speaker 1: And then she goes, but she did go get a
[1:20:43] Speaker 1: job in his office that summer, and then for her
[1:20:45] Speaker 1: fifteenth birthday, which means she started at fourteen. She was
[1:20:48] Speaker 1: a freshman on the trip. She was fourteen, so like, yeah,
[1:20:53] Speaker 1: I mean maybe she had a lot of political promise. Yeah,
[1:20:57] Speaker 1: like she was a young Hannah Tunberg got to solve
[1:20:59] Speaker 1: climate change. And he's like, if I just have sex
[1:21:01] Speaker 1: with you, we can solve climate change together. And he
[1:21:05] Speaker 1: threw her a party on her fifteenth birthday in New
[1:21:07] Speaker 1: York City and she goes. Me and her dad were concerned,
[1:21:10] Speaker 1: but it seemed legit. All the other interns would be going.
[1:21:13] Speaker 1: He sent a limo, so they let her go. She's
[1:21:15] Speaker 1: a shambo.
[1:21:17] Speaker 2: The mamo is actually the red flag and not yeah,
[1:21:19] Speaker 2: oh I'm calm about it.
[1:21:21] Speaker 1: Yeah, Or it's like it's like you come to the
[1:21:23] Speaker 1: party too, and then you get the parents drunk or whatever.
[1:21:26] Speaker 1: If that's like what your plan is, you know, Like,
[1:21:28] Speaker 1: but don't be like I'm just gonna have a car cumpicker.
[1:21:30] Speaker 4: It's so crazy.
[1:21:31] Speaker 1: And she's like the mom goes, you must think I'm
[1:21:34] Speaker 1: a bad mom, and Benson's like, no, don't, we don't
[1:21:37] Speaker 1: think that you know, Benson in her head is like,
[1:21:39] Speaker 1: you fucking idiot, and she says, Jenna never admitted it,
[1:21:42] Speaker 1: but I know something happened. When she came home that
[1:21:44] Speaker 1: night from her fifteenth birthday, she was drinking. Her makeup
[1:21:47] Speaker 1: was a mess. I found her dress. It was stained.
[1:21:49] Speaker 1: I put it in a bag and shoved it in
[1:21:51] Speaker 1: my closet. But I like, I mean, like I said,
[1:21:53] Speaker 1: this is a woman who was raised on the Monica
[1:21:55] Speaker 1: Lewinsky scandal. So it's like you would think to do
[1:21:58] Speaker 1: that if you know enough about me, But like, I
[1:22:01] Speaker 1: don't know any reason why Otherwise you'd be like, I'm
[1:22:04] Speaker 1: just going to keep this dress for safe keeping in DNA. Later,
[1:22:07] Speaker 1: a few weeks later, she said she found a positive
[1:22:09] Speaker 1: pregnancy test in the trash. And then a few days
[1:22:11] Speaker 1: after that, a car service picked up Jenna took her
[1:22:14] Speaker 1: to the city. She came home white as a sheet
[1:22:16] Speaker 1: and didn't get out of bed for two days. Her
[1:22:18] Speaker 1: husband doesn't see it, but she sees it. I saw
[1:22:20] Speaker 1: my baby changing. He has to pay for what he
[1:22:23] Speaker 1: did to her, all right, So the mom is helping.
[1:22:25] Speaker 1: But now we're talking to Gold and Howard, and Howard's like,
[1:22:28] Speaker 1: she kept the dress who does that, literally the most
[1:22:31] Speaker 1: famous presidential sex scandal in all of time, Like, you
[1:22:35] Speaker 1: cannot run for president.
[1:22:36] Speaker 4: You are too.
[1:22:36] Speaker 1: Stupid, Like, I honestly don't think politicians have to be smart,
[1:22:39] Speaker 1: but I think you are too stupid. He starts bringing
[1:22:42] Speaker 1: up a hot tub. He goes, well, my mom has
[1:22:44] Speaker 1: a hot tub lives, Like, no, we have a picture
[1:22:47] Speaker 1: of her wearing the dress, sitting on your lap on
[1:22:49] Speaker 1: her fifteenth birthday.
[1:22:51] Speaker 4: And then there's the abortion. And Howard's like.
[1:22:54] Speaker 1: The what And he's like, she told me she was pregnant,
[1:22:58] Speaker 1: but he's like not wrapping his head around the abortion,
[1:23:00] Speaker 1: and Gold is like, shut the.
[1:23:02] Speaker 4: Fuck up, Shut the fuck up, Shut the fuck up.
[1:23:04] Speaker 1: And he's like, I know it's a woman's decision, but
[1:23:07] Speaker 1: I don't believe in that. And this is also hilarious too,
[1:23:10] Speaker 1: because it's like you might not believe in it, but
[1:23:12] Speaker 1: you're absolutely getting it done if you knocked up a
[1:23:14] Speaker 1: teenager and you're trying to run for president, Like you
[1:23:16] Speaker 1: don't believe in most women getting that, but you're gonna
[1:23:19] Speaker 1: allow it for yourself. Like I don't think there's that
[1:23:21] Speaker 1: many Republicans that are like I'm just patently not down
[1:23:24] Speaker 1: for that like, even if it was my own kid
[1:23:26] Speaker 1: or my own situation, this guy would be doing it.
[1:23:29] Speaker 1: I just don't buy this, and this is what blows
[1:23:31] Speaker 1: up his whole fucking life. They're like, yeah, dude, we
[1:23:34] Speaker 1: have record of your driver driving Jen out a Chelsea
[1:23:37] Speaker 1: guynecology and I don't know how they have that, Like
[1:23:40] Speaker 1: the GPS of the driver.
[1:23:41] Speaker 4: I guess has keeps a record. I don't know.
[1:23:43] Speaker 1: He turns to gold and goes, you told me it
[1:23:45] Speaker 1: was a false positive, that she made it up.
[1:23:47] Speaker 4: This man is mad.
[1:23:48] Speaker 1: He's like, I wanted to raise a child with a
[1:23:50] Speaker 1: fifteen year old. How could you do this to me?
[1:23:52] Speaker 1: Question mark? And he goes, anyway, there is no way
[1:23:56] Speaker 1: that it's mine. I always pull out. And I'm like,
[1:23:59] Speaker 1: you absolutely cannot be the president. You don't even understand
[1:24:02] Speaker 1: that the pullout method doesn't work, is not.
[1:24:04] Speaker 4: But also you just submitted it.
[1:24:06] Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, you now in front of the police and
[1:24:10] Speaker 2: your attorney just too stupid.
[1:24:12] Speaker 4: Like too dumb.
[1:24:14] Speaker 1: And he's like, it's like, I think even Trump knows
[1:24:16] Speaker 1: pull out methods not one hundred percent, like you.
[1:24:18] Speaker 3: Know what I mean?
[1:24:19] Speaker 4: Like there, you're like, I pull out pregnancy is impossible.
[1:24:22] Speaker 1: Are you twelve, like that is truly what a young
[1:24:25] Speaker 1: boy would think. Gold and Howard start fighting, and he goes,
[1:24:29] Speaker 1: I'm protecting.
[1:24:29] Speaker 4: You, you half wit, and then he goes, what are
[1:24:31] Speaker 4: you gonna do? Hit me again?
[1:24:33] Speaker 1: And Howard tells Gold to get out, and this is
[1:24:36] Speaker 1: actually the part where he goes, you're even stupider than
[1:24:38] Speaker 1: everyone told me.
[1:24:39] Speaker 4: I jumped the gun earlier, but I wish he said
[1:24:41] Speaker 4: it twice.
[1:24:41] Speaker 1: Howard goes all of it, the abortion, Catalina, Reuben, it's
[1:24:45] Speaker 1: all him, he did it. And then it's like, you're
[1:24:48] Speaker 1: blowing up your life and everything and admitting to crime
[1:24:52] Speaker 1: because this guy took care of your your stupid ass
[1:24:57] Speaker 1: getting a teenager pregnant, Like I just don't I don't
[1:24:59] Speaker 1: buy it.
[1:25:00] Speaker 4: I think he'd be kissing this guy's feet.
[1:25:01] Speaker 1: Gold calmly buttons his coat, grabs his briefcase, and says,
[1:25:05] Speaker 1: anything Howard tells you is coerced under duress and without
[1:25:08] Speaker 1: the presence of his attorney, and it won't stand up
[1:25:10] Speaker 1: in court. Benson tells Howard's like, is that true? And
[1:25:14] Speaker 1: Benson's like, why don't we start from the top. So
[1:25:16] Speaker 1: now Caresian Benson are debriefing McGrath, Howard spilled and wouldn't stop.
[1:25:20] Speaker 4: He claims he's a puppet.
[1:25:21] Speaker 1: Gold pulls the strings, arranged Jenna's abortion, the hits on
[1:25:26] Speaker 1: Catalina and Ortiz, Polly's beat down, the threats to Rosa, everything,
[1:25:29] Speaker 1: But is there proof? No Gold is smart. They raided
[1:25:32] Speaker 1: his office. They'll be digging through ENCRYPTID files for months.
[1:25:35] Speaker 1: His finances are a maze of campaign contributions, trusts packs,
[1:25:38] Speaker 1: anonymous donors, holding companies and holding companies. It's house of
[1:25:41] Speaker 1: card shit, as I've already said like three times now.
[1:25:44] Speaker 1: They're in a room with Myron Gold and his attorney
[1:25:47] Speaker 1: and she's like, you want him to plead guilty. You
[1:25:49] Speaker 1: must be joking, and Gold's like, I know the law.
[1:25:51] Speaker 1: You'll never be able to prove shit. And then we're
[1:25:53] Speaker 1: back with Anya Avtal, the US attorney, and she's like,
[1:25:56] Speaker 1: maybe not, but we here at the Southern District have
[1:25:59] Speaker 1: the resources to dig through your whole fucking life for
[1:26:01] Speaker 1: the last ten years, and you know that's going to
[1:26:03] Speaker 1: be a pain in your ass. Gold realizes that it
[1:26:05] Speaker 1: is going to fuck up his life to have the
[1:26:07] Speaker 1: Southern District of New York in his shit for a decade,
[1:26:10] Speaker 1: especially because he is sketchy as hell and does a
[1:26:12] Speaker 1: lot of illegal shit. So he's like, let me give
[1:26:15] Speaker 1: you a deal. I know where a lot of bodies
[1:26:17] Speaker 1: are buried, and they're like, yeah, because you buried them.
[1:26:19] Speaker 1: He's like, they like CARIESI and Avatal are acting like
[1:26:22] Speaker 1: they just really don't even want to hear shit, and
[1:26:24] Speaker 1: gold is like, I'm making an effort at least act interested.
[1:26:28] Speaker 4: Lean in, you know, And then they're like, what do
[1:26:31] Speaker 4: you got?
[1:26:31] Speaker 1: And he's like an ex president and ex president's relatives,
[1:26:34] Speaker 1: Hollywood royalty, Real royalty, Silicon Valley billionaires, what's your pleasure?
[1:26:39] Speaker 4: I mean, this guy's got tea on fucking everything.
[1:26:41] Speaker 2: But is he really willing to give up any of them?
[1:26:44] Speaker 2: Like why would anyone work with him?
[1:26:45] Speaker 4: Again?
[1:26:45] Speaker 2: Like the whole point is you don't give people up,
[1:26:48] Speaker 2: Like what whoever they say they'll get, He's just going
[1:26:51] Speaker 2: to give it up.
[1:26:52] Speaker 1: I wonder if there's a way to If you're a lawyer,
[1:26:56] Speaker 1: you probably know a way that you can like anonymously
[1:26:58] Speaker 1: give this shit up.
[1:27:00] Speaker 2: That's also like a disbarment. Yeah, it just kind of seems.
[1:27:05] Speaker 4: Yeah, like what do you get disbarred? Yeah? Yeah, you're right, yeah, yeah,
[1:27:09] Speaker 4: you would, you would. I don't get it.
[1:27:11] Speaker 1: But so now Coresee and Rawlins are speed walking through
[1:27:15] Speaker 1: like Bryant Park or something, and Rollins is like, we
[1:27:18] Speaker 1: did a deep dive into Gold's offshore accounts. I'm like
[1:27:20] Speaker 1: the NYPD did, I just don't, like they always are
[1:27:23] Speaker 1: act like Rollins is like part of some technological unit
[1:27:26] Speaker 1: that doesn't exist at New York Police Department, I know
[1:27:28] Speaker 1: for sure. And they're like, and he's holding companies and
[1:27:30] Speaker 1: he's telling the truth about who he can take down.
[1:27:32] Speaker 1: It's like that was accessible to the NYPD. I think
[1:27:34] Speaker 1: the FBI would take it from here. But whatever, Coreese's like, whatever,
[1:27:38] Speaker 1: these people are all already on the fed's radar and
[1:27:40] Speaker 1: Gold is on all of their wiretaps, so you know.
[1:27:44] Speaker 4: Oh the Feds are listening to all of this.
[1:27:46] Speaker 1: They don't, yeah, everything, They're like basically Coorese's like, this
[1:27:48] Speaker 1: doesn't really do anything for us because.
[1:27:51] Speaker 4: This doesn't help us get Gold.
[1:27:53] Speaker 1: Like, the Feds already have an eye on all the
[1:27:54] Speaker 1: people he's doing, So if the Feds are gonna flip Gold,
[1:27:57] Speaker 1: then they're gonna get these people. And cause exactly this
[1:28:00] Speaker 1: guy's almost offering Coreesy stuff that's too big for korse
[1:28:03] Speaker 1: Chrise's not taking down the royal family. He's a ada
[1:28:07] Speaker 1: in Manhattan, has view, you know what I mean. Like
[1:28:09] Speaker 1: so it's like, yeah, you could pass him off to
[1:28:11] Speaker 1: the Feds, but he's not gonna help them.
[1:28:14] Speaker 4: And then Caris gets a call.
[1:28:16] Speaker 1: He gets rushed, he's rushing off to a meeting and
[1:28:17] Speaker 1: he gets a call and he seems pissed. And Garland
[1:28:20] Speaker 1: is also walking through the city streets screaming into a
[1:28:22] Speaker 1: cell phone and he's accusing the Attorney General of a
[1:28:25] Speaker 1: protecting the powerful.
[1:28:26] Speaker 4: And neglecting their victims.
[1:28:28] Speaker 1: McGrath same deal, walking down the street, fuming into a phone,
[1:28:31] Speaker 1: and he's got Velasco like tagging along next to him,
[1:28:34] Speaker 1: and he's like this could have been ten times bigger
[1:28:36] Speaker 1: than Gotty or Epstein.
[1:28:39] Speaker 4: They're all they're all upset, they're all getting this bad news.
[1:28:42] Speaker 1: And back of her Office Lives TV is showing Howard
[1:28:45] Speaker 1: being like Purp walked Live is apologizing to Careese on
[1:28:49] Speaker 1: the phone. But it seems like at least they got
[1:28:51] Speaker 1: Howard the sacrificial predator they're calling him.
[1:28:54] Speaker 4: He's and he does just seem like a fucking.
[1:28:56] Speaker 1: Idiot who likes to molest and and rape young girls,
[1:29:01] Speaker 1: but didn't. Actually, it probably is a low level compared
[1:29:04] Speaker 1: to some of the other psychos that this guy Gold
[1:29:06] Speaker 1: works with.
[1:29:07] Speaker 4: Howard is taking a plea.
[1:29:08] Speaker 1: He's going to be sentenced next month, so the Presidential
[1:29:10] Speaker 1: Exploratory Committee is probably on hold.
[1:29:12] Speaker 4: But the bad news is.
[1:29:13] Speaker 1: They're not moving forward with Gold's deal or with Gold,
[1:29:17] Speaker 1: so they're pissed. They're like the high ups win again,
[1:29:20] Speaker 1: like whatever, but at least they got Howard.
[1:29:22] Speaker 4: I don't know.
[1:29:23] Speaker 1: Kat comes limping in with a cane. She said she's
[1:29:25] Speaker 1: feeling better. She wants to talk to live alone. She's like, listen,
[1:29:29] Speaker 1: I thought things would change when I first joined us View,
[1:29:31] Speaker 1: but they haven't. It's like, girl, you've been there for
[1:29:32] Speaker 1: like a year and a half. I don't know why
[1:29:33] Speaker 1: you thought things were going to like change systemically. But
[1:29:36] Speaker 1: she's like, but guys like Grat McGrath are holding on
[1:29:39] Speaker 1: tight and lives like you need to stay and fight
[1:29:41] Speaker 1: with me. The department needs voices like yours, and she
[1:29:43] Speaker 1: goes does it cause my rank is too low to
[1:29:46] Speaker 1: go up against the system. She's kind of like, I
[1:29:48] Speaker 1: get why you do this, Like you have twenty years invested,
[1:29:50] Speaker 1: but I don't and I need to get out before
[1:29:52] Speaker 1: I get into deep and she's like I just can't
[1:29:54] Speaker 1: stay and lives like, well, my door is always open,
[1:29:56] Speaker 1: and sadly that's the end of Kat to me. And
[1:29:59] Speaker 1: that's a series on cat Tomine. I really liked her
[1:30:02] Speaker 1: character a lot and I wanted her to stay. But
[1:30:05] Speaker 1: Carisie and Rollins are chatting about the whole case Caresee's like,
[1:30:10] Speaker 1: you know, eighth floor, I can't believe they're fucking you
[1:30:12] Speaker 1: like this whatever, and then he goes, well, if this
[1:30:15] Speaker 1: had gone to trial, I would have had to recuse
[1:30:18] Speaker 1: myself or you would have had to recuse myself. And
[1:30:20] Speaker 1: she's like, well, what do you mean And he's like, well,
[1:30:22] Speaker 1: we need to talk about like the professional implications of
[1:30:24] Speaker 1: like what we're doing here with our little la kissy
[1:30:26] Speaker 1: kissy And she's like, well, I thought we didn't have
[1:30:28] Speaker 1: to disclose unless it's a serious relationship kind of a
[1:30:31] Speaker 1: burn and Carisee's like, bitch, I'm serious as a heart attack,
[1:30:35] Speaker 1: and she's like, yeah, me too, but nobody else needs
[1:30:38] Speaker 1: to know that. She's like, can we just kind of
[1:30:39] Speaker 1: keep it casual, but like together we know that it's
[1:30:41] Speaker 1: it's important.
[1:30:42] Speaker 4: And now they're at.
[1:30:43] Speaker 1: Garland's office and he's packing his shit and Benson's like,
[1:30:46] Speaker 1: why do I feel like we're winning some battles here
[1:30:48] Speaker 1: but we're losing the war, And Garland's like, because we are.
[1:30:51] Speaker 1: He's like, I went to one PP to argue with
[1:30:53] Speaker 1: them about the gold decision. McGrath hung me out to dry,
[1:30:55] Speaker 1: acted like I was not satisfied with just taking down
[1:30:59] Speaker 1: a congressman, and then I was being greedy.
[1:31:01] Speaker 4: They don't see me as a team player.
[1:31:03] Speaker 1: They didn't fire him, but he's like, I decided to leave,
[1:31:05] Speaker 1: and he goes I talked to my dad, who's a
[1:31:07] Speaker 1: career NYPD guy, and he goes, move on, you'll be
[1:31:10] Speaker 1: more dangerous to them outside the department than in.
[1:31:13] Speaker 4: And I wonder what Garland goes on to do.
[1:31:15] Speaker 1: But McGrath barges into Benson's office then, and this guy
[1:31:19] Speaker 1: does coke or something. Like his energy is always psychotic,
[1:31:22] Speaker 1: Like every room he enters, he's like, where are we
[1:31:23] Speaker 1: out of this?
[1:31:24] Speaker 4: Like it's so nuts.
[1:31:25] Speaker 1: He's like, never calm, and he's like things have gotten
[1:31:27] Speaker 1: too politicized as for you, we need to focus on
[1:31:29] Speaker 1: the real rapes and lives like come again and he's like,
[1:31:33] Speaker 1: oh oops, that's my.
[1:31:34] Speaker 4: Old school talking.
[1:31:35] Speaker 1: Of course, we believe all victims, but you know, these
[1:31:38] Speaker 1: Monday Morning regret cases, they fall apart every time we
[1:31:42] Speaker 1: try to police kid.
[1:31:43] Speaker 2: Room insane because he's the one that wanted to take
[1:31:45] Speaker 2: down the congressman.
[1:31:47] Speaker 1: Yeah, politicize yeah, Also what Monday morning regret cases are
[1:31:52] Speaker 1: even talking about? You guys just went after a ring
[1:31:55] Speaker 1: of sex trafficking and child predator.
[1:31:58] Speaker 4: Like who's in Congress?
[1:31:59] Speaker 1: That's not a Oh I think I regret hooking up
[1:32:01] Speaker 1: with this guy last night, Like that's not that.
[1:32:04] Speaker 2: Also, no one ever says I regret hooking up with
[1:32:06] Speaker 2: this guy. I'm gonna accuse him of rape instead. That'll
[1:32:09] Speaker 2: be easier. Your life sucks, Like I don't even get
[1:32:12] Speaker 2: who started that rumor.
[1:32:14] Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, it's it's no one has ever done that.
[1:32:17] Speaker 1: Biggest piece of misinformation around, like false reporting.
[1:32:21] Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, yeah, that is who.
[1:32:23] Speaker 2: Like, I don't understand why anyone would think regret would
[1:32:28] Speaker 2: be harder to deal.
[1:32:29] Speaker 1: With everybody at your school thinking you're a slut, so
[1:32:32] Speaker 1: you tell them it was rape and they're like, that's
[1:32:34] Speaker 1: better for you to go through trial, Like I don't, like,
[1:32:37] Speaker 1: it's crazy that people don't do that. So Liv's like, okay, babe,
[1:32:42] Speaker 1: acquaintance rapes are not policing the bedroom and I'm not
[1:32:44] Speaker 1: going to turn my back on any victim. And he's like, oh, yeah,
[1:32:48] Speaker 1: I wouldn't expect you to. You're the best at this job.
[1:32:50] Speaker 1: By the way, you report to me now that gonna
[1:32:52] Speaker 1: be a problem. I mean, this guy's like flip flopping
[1:32:54] Speaker 1: even on what he's trying to say. Maybe he's trying
[1:32:56] Speaker 1: to like feel out how willing live is to like
[1:33:00] Speaker 1: become an asshole like he is.
[1:33:01] Speaker 4: And she's basically like not at all.
[1:33:04] Speaker 1: And he's like, you report to me now, that gonna
[1:33:06] Speaker 1: be a problem, and she goes, no, sir, and that's
[1:33:09] Speaker 1: dick wolt. And I'm like, if we're never gonna let
[1:33:11] Speaker 1: her have one ounce of happiness in her personal life,
[1:33:14] Speaker 1: can she at least can we let her run the
[1:33:16] Speaker 1: ship at work and not constantly be battling some colossal
[1:33:19] Speaker 1: clown who's above her, Like, can we, like we're not
[1:33:21] Speaker 1: gonna let her have a boyfriend, Can she just have
[1:33:23] Speaker 1: an okay time at work?
[1:33:26] Speaker 4: Yeah? You know, it's insane anyway, Thanks for hanging in there.
[1:33:31] Speaker 1: With us guys. I know, the double EPs are a
[1:33:33] Speaker 1: longer recap. I try to get through it as quick
[1:33:35] Speaker 1: as possible. And now I'm excited for Liza to take
[1:33:38] Speaker 1: us through the truth.
[1:33:40] Speaker 4: The truth or the truth. That's Lionel Huts.
[1:33:51] Speaker 2: So it's Matt Gates obviously, you know they mentioned him.
[1:33:54] Speaker 2: Everyone's mentioned okay, So and this is also like, you know,
[1:33:59] Speaker 2: it's kind of I would say a thrill because it's
[1:34:01] Speaker 2: happened like November December of twenty twenty four, so to
[1:34:04] Speaker 2: be like within like you know, the year of it
[1:34:07] Speaker 2: occurring kind of is a thrill. And the official like
[1:34:11] Speaker 2: report that was released happened. And there's a quote with
[1:34:15] Speaker 2: him being annoying, being like they did on Christmas Eve
[1:34:19] Speaker 2: Eve on purpose and it's like grow up Christmas Eve
[1:34:23] Speaker 2: even for you get a life. He said, they like
[1:34:29] Speaker 2: did it on purpose, so he couldn't respond or this
[1:34:31] Speaker 2: and that, and I don't know, it's just yeah, it's
[1:34:35] Speaker 2: it just was making me feel like you're so immature
[1:34:38] Speaker 2: and funny that Christmas Eve Eve was uttered out of
[1:34:41] Speaker 2: your mouth.
[1:34:41] Speaker 1: It's like saying I'm twenty six and a half. You know,
[1:34:44] Speaker 1: It's like, yeah, this is it's twenty six. It's like
[1:34:47] Speaker 1: saying skizzers. It's weird. It's like a weird thing to do.
[1:34:52] Speaker 2: But yeah, Mecca, it's Trump loyalist and former employee of
[1:34:55] Speaker 2: the government.
[1:34:56] Speaker 4: Lol.
[1:34:56] Speaker 2: Okay, So yeah, it's fun looking him up and seeing
[1:35:00] Speaker 2: former rep. You know, yeah, and that it says resigned
[1:35:04] Speaker 2: and it was the first district of Florida, and so
[1:35:08] Speaker 2: congressional investigators found evidence that former Florida Rep. This guy
[1:35:12] Speaker 2: and he was almost attorney general, almost almost, but that
[1:35:17] Speaker 2: he regularly paid women for sex had sex with a
[1:35:20] Speaker 2: six seventeen year old, which you know is rape maybe
[1:35:23] Speaker 2: sashch what do I say, Like all the things say sex.
[1:35:26] Speaker 4: It's like crazy, yeah, yeah, And is that the trick?
[1:35:30] Speaker 4: Is that the thing? Is that why they because then
[1:35:32] Speaker 4: we're okay with it?
[1:35:34] Speaker 3: Yeah?
[1:35:34] Speaker 1: I mean, are we normalizing it by saying had sex
[1:35:36] Speaker 1: with a seventeen year old?
[1:35:37] Speaker 2: Right? I consent in Florida is seventeen, then it is sex.
[1:35:42] Speaker 2: But it's just like it's all kind of psychotic and
[1:35:44] Speaker 2: I hate having to like argue the minutia of.
[1:35:48] Speaker 1: The age of consent for sexual activity is eighteen in Florida.
[1:35:51] Speaker 1: According I am shocked. I'm so shocked, Consider me shocked. Wow, yeah, yeah,
[1:35:59] Speaker 1: I mean that's that's what that's what this So then
[1:36:01] Speaker 1: it's why would credible news sources say sex and not
[1:36:06] Speaker 1: statutory rape like with a seventeen you know.
[1:36:10] Speaker 2: It's all it's I mean, it's just annoying. It's this
[1:36:14] Speaker 2: like world that we're living in.
[1:36:17] Speaker 1: Now. This Wikipedia thing says fourteen but also says eighteen.
[1:36:20] Speaker 1: On what does unrestricted mean versus fourteen? Makes more sense?
[1:36:24] Speaker 1: Oh okay, that would be actually no crazy. Younger partner
[1:36:27] Speaker 1: is deemed able to consent to having sex with an
[1:36:30] Speaker 1: older one as long as their age difference does not
[1:36:32] Speaker 1: exceed a specified amount that's restricted by age difference. So
[1:36:37] Speaker 1: a sixteen year old can have sex with like another
[1:36:39] Speaker 1: sixteen year old or a seventeen year old, but he
[1:36:42] Speaker 1: would be committing statutory rape.
[1:36:44] Speaker 4: I'm pretty positive. Floridians let us know.
[1:36:48] Speaker 1: Yeah, Florida, let us know about the intricate rules, Like.
[1:36:54] Speaker 4: It doesn't matter.
[1:36:55] Speaker 1: You're a criminal to me, no matter what, I don't
[1:36:56] Speaker 1: care if all you're disgusting, you're a congressman, you were
[1:36:59] Speaker 1: like elected represent your state in this in the government,
[1:37:02] Speaker 1: like you're gross.
[1:37:03] Speaker 2: Yeah and and okay, oh it says it does break yeah,
[1:37:09] Speaker 2: Florida's satutory rape laws, and frequently he was using illegal
[1:37:13] Speaker 2: drugs but it was weed, okay, but probably other things
[1:37:17] Speaker 2: and countless other violations of House ethics rules. He basically
[1:37:22] Speaker 2: resigns so then he could say he was no longer
[1:37:24] Speaker 2: a member of the House. So then the committee did
[1:37:26] Speaker 2: not have jurisdiction to release this report. Lol, that's the
[1:37:31] Speaker 2: actions of an innocent man, Like, like, this report is
[1:37:35] Speaker 2: about to come out on you, and you resign from
[1:37:38] Speaker 2: the government to make it quiet.
[1:37:41] Speaker 4: Like I don't know if that's the like the confidence right,
[1:37:45] Speaker 4: you're like, bring on the report. I'm innocent.
[1:37:48] Speaker 1: If it's if it's like politically motivated and not real.
[1:37:51] Speaker 2: Now now I'm gonna leave my job and be like
[1:37:52] Speaker 2: you actually can't you can't actually release it. So and
[1:37:57] Speaker 2: that was his last sitsch effort to make sure this
[1:37:59] Speaker 2: report didn't come out. And then he also sued the
[1:38:01] Speaker 2: Ethics Panel and it's chairman to block the report release
[1:38:06] Speaker 2: and saying like I'm just a private citizen. Now you
[1:38:08] Speaker 2: can't do this to me, and the committee can determine
[1:38:13] Speaker 2: if there is a public interest then to release its findings,
[1:38:16] Speaker 2: even after a member resigns and they had to fight
[1:38:19] Speaker 2: for it, and you know, did they I'm glad they
[1:38:21] Speaker 2: did it, but you know, it's not a common thing,
[1:38:25] Speaker 2: I guess. But he was paying sex workers who were underage,
[1:38:30] Speaker 2: who were girls.
[1:38:32] Speaker 4: That's another thing. It's all like written.
[1:38:34] Speaker 2: So it's fucked up, how like, yeah, pervasive because like
[1:38:38] Speaker 2: I'm writing for this from the newspapers and it's like
[1:38:41] Speaker 2: underage girls and it's like girls, girl.
[1:38:43] Speaker 4: Is on girls are underage.
[1:38:45] Speaker 2: Yeah, Like it's crazy to even have to because we
[1:38:48] Speaker 2: never say underage boys.
[1:38:50] Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, yeah, Okay.
[1:38:51] Speaker 2: Anyways, so he was doing drugs with girls, paying for sex,
[1:38:57] Speaker 2: doing special favors, obstructing congress. Busy boy, he was traveling
[1:39:02] Speaker 2: with an underage girl and then he paid her for
[1:39:06] Speaker 2: committing for sex across state lines and you yeah, state line.
[1:39:10] Speaker 2: You never went across state lines with a minor, Okay,
[1:39:14] Speaker 2: that's a violation of federal law. He denies he did this,
[1:39:17] Speaker 2: but the House Ethics Panel was investigating him since twenty
[1:39:20] Speaker 2: twenty one, and in twenty twenty three, the Department of
[1:39:24] Speaker 2: Justice ended the investigation because they had evidence of adult
[1:39:28] Speaker 2: women across state lines for sex. They didn't find sufficient
[1:39:31] Speaker 2: evidence that he engaged in the trafficking, sex trafficking of miners,
[1:39:36] Speaker 2: but they also helped him and did not cooperate with
[1:39:38] Speaker 2: the House in this investigation. And according to PBS Todate,
[1:39:42] Speaker 2: the DOJ has provided no meaningful evidence or information to
[1:39:46] Speaker 2: the committee or cited any lawful basis for its responses.
[1:39:51] Speaker 2: And that's according to the committee. And a lot of
[1:39:53] Speaker 2: women who spoke to the Committee had already given statements
[1:39:56] Speaker 2: to the Justice Department and did not want to relive
[1:39:58] Speaker 2: the experience, especially because the DOJ didn't do much beforehand.
[1:40:04] Speaker 2: So and they were just nervous. They're like, it's a
[1:40:06] Speaker 2: sitting congressman. And either way, they did not they didn't
[1:40:11] Speaker 2: hand over any statements, and they requested for the House
[1:40:13] Speaker 2: to stop investigating. So sketch, yeah, cool, Justice, Yeah, so
[1:40:21] Speaker 2: let's get Benson on the case and we should We'll
[1:40:24] Speaker 2: see whatever in swam cover, Okay. They found he was
[1:40:27] Speaker 2: sending payments for drugs with an email account he created
[1:40:31] Speaker 2: from his congressional office to get weed, which is a
[1:40:36] Speaker 2: stoner move. Which is a stoner move to use your
[1:40:39] Speaker 2: work congress email to buy drugs, get.
[1:40:44] Speaker 4: An aid to get you your weed.
[1:40:46] Speaker 2: Jesus, But these are losers, Like that's the whole thing,
[1:40:49] Speaker 2: Like they're fucking losers and so of course they don't
[1:40:53] Speaker 2: know how to fucking get weed. He also was abusing
[1:40:56] Speaker 2: State I D records, mispropriation of camp paying funds for
[1:41:00] Speaker 2: personal use and properly accepted gifts, and violation of House
[1:41:05] Speaker 2: rules like a trip to the Bahamas that included transportation
[1:41:09] Speaker 2: and lodging. And then he also showed colleagues explicit photos
[1:41:13] Speaker 2: of women on the House floor. In the report, they
[1:41:15] Speaker 2: found that he used his chief of staff to get
[1:41:18] Speaker 2: a passport for a woman with who he engaged in
[1:41:21] Speaker 2: sexual conduct, falsely indicating to the US Department that she
[1:41:26] Speaker 2: was a constituent.
[1:41:28] Speaker 4: So wow, I don't know.
[1:41:31] Speaker 2: And that he had ninety thousand dollars in VENMO payments
[1:41:34] Speaker 2: between him and about a dozen women.
[1:41:37] Speaker 4: But the committee.
[1:41:38] Speaker 1: Stupid, fuck you're using venmo like there's gotta be like
[1:41:43] Speaker 1: encrypted ways to send money. Why are these congressmen so stupid?
[1:41:48] Speaker 2: Yeah, but the ex Florida too. The committee got his
[1:41:51] Speaker 2: VENMO with a subpoena. So I don't know how much
[1:41:53] Speaker 2: I love that that, Like your VENMO records can be subpoenaed,
[1:41:56] Speaker 2: But I guess.
[1:41:57] Speaker 4: I'm sure that guy's open profile is public. I bet his.
[1:42:00] Speaker 1: Probably he's so stupid. I bet his profile is just public.
[1:42:02] Speaker 1: They're like, we just went in, we saw the emojis.
[1:42:04] Speaker 2: Like his big excuse was he was just giving money
[1:42:08] Speaker 2: to women he dated and or women who just asked
[1:42:10] Speaker 2: him for money, and nothing's wrong with that. He's like, whatever,
[1:42:13] Speaker 2: some of these women I dated for years, and there's
[1:42:15] Speaker 2: nothing wrong with funding women's lives.
[1:42:17] Speaker 4: That's so. But he doesn't seem that generous of a
[1:42:21] Speaker 4: guide to me.
[1:42:22] Speaker 1: You know that he would just be like using your
[1:42:24] Speaker 1: own money or using taxpayer money.
[1:42:26] Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I yes, he would be generous with the taxpayers.
[1:42:30] Speaker 2: The committee said they had substantial evidence that Gates had
[1:42:34] Speaker 2: sex with seventeen year olds, rape raping seventeen year olds. Like,
[1:42:39] Speaker 2: I don't know what to do, okay, so the committee,
[1:42:42] Speaker 2: I'm a part of the problem. So the committee said
[1:42:44] Speaker 2: they had all this evidence against him, and victim A
[1:42:47] Speaker 2: said that, like she was at a party twice in
[1:42:50] Speaker 2: twenty seventeen, and one time there were witnesses and there
[1:42:53] Speaker 2: was like witnesses testified to the panel that he gave
[1:42:57] Speaker 2: this girl four hundred dollars and she understood that was
[1:43:01] Speaker 2: payment for sex. She says to something called nineteenth news
[1:43:06] Speaker 2: dot Org that she didn't tell him her age, but
[1:43:08] Speaker 2: he never asked. I wow, but you know who a
[1:43:12] Speaker 2: teen is? I'm sorry, Like, I not not believing that.
[1:43:16] Speaker 2: And three eyewitnesses did see this go down, that there
[1:43:19] Speaker 2: is a party with old men, young hot women, alcohol, cocaine.
[1:43:23] Speaker 4: So very sv you.
[1:43:25] Speaker 2: Investigators, according to ABC News, said they interviewed like a
[1:43:28] Speaker 2: half a dozen women who allegedly attended parties where Florida
[1:43:32] Speaker 2: congressmen were present and who were paid by this man
[1:43:35] Speaker 2: named Joel Greenberg, who is one of Matt's closest friends.
[1:43:40] Speaker 2: And Greenberg was sentenced in twenty twenty two to eleven
[1:43:43] Speaker 2: years in federal prison after pleading guilty to multiple charges,
[1:43:47] Speaker 2: including sex, trafficking a minor and introducing the minor to
[1:43:50] Speaker 2: other adult men. So if this is your close friend
[1:43:53] Speaker 2: and he pled guilty to like trafficking young girls, yeah,
[1:43:57] Speaker 2: and is serving eleven years, Like, I don't know how
[1:43:59] Speaker 2: you're still like, oh, but I'm a chill, good guy,
[1:44:02] Speaker 2: Like I just don't understand people's braain, Like I don't
[1:44:04] Speaker 2: get it, just as cocky as the fucking character. Yeah,
[1:44:09] Speaker 2: And the judge who handled the Greenberg case, Judge Gregory Personnel.
[1:44:13] Speaker 2: At the sentencing in twenty twenty two, it was is
[1:44:15] Speaker 2: quoted this is the ABC News saying he had never
[1:44:18] Speaker 2: seen this kind of degree of cooperation in more than
[1:44:21] Speaker 2: twenty two years on the bench. So it's like he
[1:44:25] Speaker 2: was obviously guilty or forced into it, Like they've never
[1:44:28] Speaker 2: seen someone plead guilty like that quickly and happily and
[1:44:32] Speaker 2: just so like.
[1:44:33] Speaker 1: Have so many details and like be open to helping. Probably, yeah,
[1:44:38] Speaker 1: save his own ass.
[1:44:39] Speaker 4: Probably. I bet they forced him to do it.
[1:44:42] Speaker 2: I think he had to do it, and I bet
[1:44:44] Speaker 2: they promised him things like I don't think he had
[1:44:46] Speaker 2: a choice here.
[1:44:47] Speaker 4: Yeah, Yeah, that's my guess. I don't think. Oh, you're right.
[1:44:51] Speaker 1: He probably he probably he pled guilty to stalking.
[1:44:55] Speaker 4: He feeled guilty. That's probably so hard to prove.
[1:44:57] Speaker 1: But like I would say, you're right, and they probably
[1:45:00] Speaker 1: were like you'll get out in eleven years if you
[1:45:03] Speaker 1: tell anymore, will fucking kill you?
[1:45:05] Speaker 4: Or like tell them more things you've done or something.
[1:45:08] Speaker 4: Because I bet Matt gaz was like I'm gonna be president.
[1:45:10] Speaker 2: I bet there's some kind of attorney guy like who fuckings? Yeah,
[1:45:13] Speaker 2: but he felt he pled guilty to wire fraud, stalking,
[1:45:16] Speaker 2: and sex trafficking, a minor huge charges bet close friends.
[1:45:22] Speaker 2: It's really like, I don't know, disgusting. I don't even
[1:45:27] Speaker 2: have a good the source word. It's just like disgusting.
[1:45:32] Speaker 2: There's a text, Okay, so this is like pretty damning
[1:45:34] Speaker 2: evidence to me for like the DOJ to be like
[1:45:36] Speaker 2: there's no evidence, so there, but I get okay. So
[1:45:40] Speaker 2: there's a text with a twenty year old woman and Greenberg.
[1:45:43] Speaker 2: According to PBS, she said, you know, usually I do
[1:45:46] Speaker 2: four hundred dollars for a meeting, and Greenberg responded with
[1:45:50] Speaker 2: he understands the deal with a smiley face emoji, and
[1:45:54] Speaker 2: then he asked if they were old enough to drink alcohol,
[1:45:57] Speaker 2: and then sent the woman a photo of Gates, and
[1:46:00] Speaker 2: the woman responded that her friend found him really cute.
[1:46:04] Speaker 2: So then Greenberg replied, Wow, he's down here for only
[1:46:08] Speaker 2: the day. We work hard and play hard. That seems
[1:46:12] Speaker 2: like substantial evidence.
[1:46:14] Speaker 1: Now, yeah, I guess it's like I guess you could
[1:46:18] Speaker 1: talk your way around anything and go. We just thought
[1:46:20] Speaker 1: it would be fun for him to meet some of
[1:46:22] Speaker 1: his constituents at a party. The four hundred dollars is
[1:46:24] Speaker 1: where the sketchiness is, you know, worrd. Yeah, work hard,
[1:46:29] Speaker 1: play Hard's what they used to say about my college.
[1:46:31] Speaker 1: That was like on every tour we'd be like we're
[1:46:33] Speaker 1: like a work hard.
[1:46:33] Speaker 2: Play hard school, you know, like so, and then you know,
[1:46:38] Speaker 2: Gates is funny. He goes, I was young, I was
[1:46:40] Speaker 2: in my thirties. I'm a different guy now. So interesting.
[1:46:45] Speaker 4: But he got married in twenty twenty one.
[1:46:48] Speaker 2: And this reminds me of Jonah from veepsu with Like,
[1:46:51] Speaker 2: I looked up this girl and she does remind me
[1:46:53] Speaker 2: of the character who ends up with Jonah marrying Jonah
[1:46:57] Speaker 2: or like fake Tan Sherman. Tan's is more what I'm
[1:47:01] Speaker 2: thinking they did. He ended up not with her, but whatever.
[1:47:04] Speaker 2: So we got married in twenty twenty one, and he's like, well,
[1:47:08] Speaker 2: I'm married now, so I'm different, okay.
[1:47:10] Speaker 1: So oh, and this girl thinks she's going to be
[1:47:12] Speaker 1: a fucking first lady.
[1:47:14] Speaker 4: For sure, definitely.
[1:47:15] Speaker 2: I mean, her name's Ginger and she posted a photo
[1:47:21] Speaker 2: of him on Twitter with the caption that said unemployment
[1:47:24] Speaker 2: has never looked so good and that's according to the BBC.
[1:47:28] Speaker 4: So listen.
[1:47:30] Speaker 2: Basically, he's like, yeah, this is embarrassing but not criminal.
[1:47:34] Speaker 2: I partied, I womanized, I drank, I smoke, but I'm
[1:47:37] Speaker 2: different now and that's the BBC. And he, of course
[1:47:40] Speaker 2: is like, this is a smear campaign, smear campaign, No
[1:47:43] Speaker 2: one cares.
[1:47:44] Speaker 4: How about him?
[1:47:45] Speaker 2: Yeah, all this happened between twenty seventeen and twenty nineteen,
[1:47:49] Speaker 2: and now he's like stopping a bad boy. Okay, so,
[1:47:53] Speaker 2: but he is out of our lives really, I mean,
[1:47:55] Speaker 2: he's not going to be Attorney general, and he's left Congress.
[1:47:58] Speaker 2: He now hosts a show called The Matt Gates Show,
[1:48:01] Speaker 2: airing on One America News Network, which sounds nazi.
[1:48:06] Speaker 4: Oh an n yeah, it's horrible.
[1:48:08] Speaker 2: January twenty twenty five is when that show premiered, and
[1:48:11] Speaker 2: he's on cameo.
[1:48:14] Speaker 1: Give me a break. What a loser. Not that you're
[1:48:17] Speaker 1: a loser if you're on cameo. We've both been on cameo.
[1:48:20] Speaker 1: But you're like a disgraced fucking politician. You're going on cameo.
[1:48:24] Speaker 1: It's yeah, you're a loser. If you order one from him,
[1:48:27] Speaker 1: I'll say that too.
[1:48:28] Speaker 2: So yes, So basically, Axios in March twenty twenty five,
[1:48:34] Speaker 2: wrote that he could still actually be the next Florida
[1:48:36] Speaker 2: Attorney General. And then they like explained all the weird
[1:48:40] Speaker 2: ways and votes and I was not interested in.
[1:48:44] Speaker 4: I don't care whatever. He has crazy archdyebrows.
[1:48:48] Speaker 2: And our current president was quoted by PBS slash NPR
[1:48:52] Speaker 2: thing called why but with two whys. I don't know
[1:48:55] Speaker 2: exactly what it is, but he okay, So basically he's
[1:49:00] Speaker 2: said that he's the right person to root out the
[1:49:01] Speaker 2: systemic corruption within the agency.
[1:49:04] Speaker 1: So sure, yeah, a guy, you could probably just venmo
[1:49:08] Speaker 1: a few hundred dollars and I'll do what you want.
[1:49:11] Speaker 4: Like, what a fucking nightmare.
[1:49:14] Speaker 1: I'm glad that, Like, there's been so many horrible people
[1:49:17] Speaker 1: that Trump has nominated for jobs, and I'm glad at
[1:49:19] Speaker 1: least this one. People were like, that's a bridge too far,
[1:49:22] Speaker 1: you know, like at least for attorney general.
[1:49:23] Speaker 4: People are like, that's a bridge too far. But don't worry.
[1:49:26] Speaker 1: There's like an influencer who's going to be the new
[1:49:27] Speaker 1: surgeon general. So that's good news. But we have a
[1:49:31] Speaker 1: great guest, So don't anybody go anywhere, all right. Today's
[1:49:44] Speaker 1: guest is an actor best known for his recurring roles
[1:49:48] Speaker 1: on shows like The Good Wife, Mister Robot younger and
[1:49:51] Speaker 1: currently Gross Point Garden Society, but we know him best
[1:49:55] Speaker 1: as the sex trafficking congressman douche Justin Howard. Please enjoy
[1:50:00] Speaker 1: our chat with non douche Ben Rappaport, Hi, Ben, Nice.
[1:50:04] Speaker 4: To meet you.
[1:50:05] Speaker 6: Nice to meet you, guys. Thanks for having me.
[1:50:07] Speaker 2: Might already seem like a bigger pleasure than your character.
[1:50:10] Speaker 4: I was.
[1:50:12] Speaker 6: Immediately.
[1:50:13] Speaker 1: I'm like, you seem like such a nice guy, and
[1:50:15] Speaker 1: this shows the bounds of acting, because I want to
[1:50:18] Speaker 1: murder your character on this episode.
[1:50:21] Speaker 5: I just rewatched that two part season premiere last night
[1:50:25] Speaker 5: in prep for this. I've seen it in a while,
[1:50:27] Speaker 5: and I was like, oh god, he really is not
[1:50:29] Speaker 5: good and I and I don't know.
[1:50:32] Speaker 2: That secretive like if you're gonna be a pedophile, stop
[1:50:35] Speaker 2: chatting about it so much.
[1:50:36] Speaker 5: I know, I know it's he's such a petulant child.
[1:50:40] Speaker 5: And like I had this string of roles like back
[1:50:45] Speaker 5: I'd say like late maybe like before twenty right before
[1:50:48] Speaker 5: twenty twenty into the like right after the pandemic, where
[1:50:51] Speaker 5: I was playing like douchebag after douchebag. Okay, I think
[1:50:54] Speaker 5: this was sort of like this was sort of like
[1:50:56] Speaker 5: the mountaintop.
[1:50:56] Speaker 6: Of douchebag that I was playing. And I don't know
[1:50:59] Speaker 6: what it is.
[1:50:59] Speaker 5: Maybe maybe there's something cool about the juxtaposition of like
[1:51:02] Speaker 5: a really nice guy doing really bad things. Maybe that
[1:51:05] Speaker 5: makes it more complicated, but I was starting to get
[1:51:07] Speaker 5: a complex about it.
[1:51:08] Speaker 4: Yeah, no, what men, you're also nice sort to everyone around?
[1:51:11] Speaker 2: I think you like because whenever someone's really evil and
[1:51:14] Speaker 2: they have to be around a kid, it's like always
[1:51:16] Speaker 2: nice to hear that they were like nice, like nice
[1:51:18] Speaker 2: to the kid, Like you know, if you were a
[1:51:21] Speaker 2: double dick, would be hard for everybody you want someone
[1:51:24] Speaker 2: to be like.
[1:51:25] Speaker 1: It's also yeah, it's also like the the twists of
[1:51:29] Speaker 1: just judging a book by its cover, like you you know,
[1:51:31] Speaker 1: like we love when they have comedians on the show
[1:51:34] Speaker 1: playing evil people because it's like, oh my gosh, why
[1:51:38] Speaker 1: is Martin short like a full murdering pedophile, you know
[1:51:40] Speaker 1: what I mean? Like that's not what I was expecting,
[1:51:42] Speaker 1: and it like, you know, so, how did it come
[1:51:45] Speaker 1: about you getting this part? Did you just get like
[1:51:48] Speaker 1: an offer? Did you audition? Like how did it?
[1:51:51] Speaker 6: Yeah?
[1:51:51] Speaker 5: This this came to me as an offer. Nice and
[1:51:54] Speaker 5: it's time, Yeah, yeah, baby, it was. It was at
[1:51:56] Speaker 5: a time I was like right after the pandemic, when
[1:51:58] Speaker 5: you know, things were really tough, and this was a
[1:52:01] Speaker 5: complete surprise, out of nowhere offer from through Warren Light
[1:52:05] Speaker 5: who was the show runner at the time. And uh,
[1:52:07] Speaker 5: he is a massive theater guy. Yeah, I think he
[1:52:11] Speaker 5: was familiar with some of my theater work, Like he
[1:52:13] Speaker 5: was a big fan of Fiddler on the Roof, which
[1:52:15] Speaker 5: I did a couple of years ago on Broadway. No,
[1:52:19] Speaker 5: it was the one with Danny Burstein, the one that
[1:52:21] Speaker 5: Bartlet shared it. Sorry, my dog who just had surgery
[1:52:24] Speaker 5: is trying to run off the couch. Hey, buddy, come here.
[1:52:30] Speaker 6: Anyway.
[1:52:31] Speaker 5: So he saw me in that and he's like, no,
[1:52:34] Speaker 5: I know who's going to play this part of like
[1:52:36] Speaker 5: this really dirt bag Congressman's kind of like you know,
[1:52:40] Speaker 5: Kennedy esque in It's been rapidport.
[1:52:43] Speaker 6: I saw him.
[1:52:44] Speaker 5: I don't know what it was, but something something clicked
[1:52:46] Speaker 5: in his mind that I'd be the guy for it.
[1:52:48] Speaker 6: And and it was a two parter too, so it
[1:52:50] Speaker 6: was like double whimmy, it's awesome.
[1:52:52] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[1:52:52] Speaker 2: And that's the thing. It's like it's so accurate. It's
[1:52:56] Speaker 2: like these guys, it's not even a satire. It's not
[1:52:58] Speaker 2: even an exaggeration of these people. It's like kind of
[1:53:01] Speaker 2: a tame creep that we have in our I mean, the.
[1:53:05] Speaker 1: Only thing that was getting my the only thing that
[1:53:07] Speaker 1: was getting my blood pressure down watching this these episodes
[1:53:10] Speaker 1: a little bit, because like you know, at the end
[1:53:11] Speaker 1: of this arc, there's kind of like everybody gets away
[1:53:14] Speaker 1: with everything pretty much. The only thing that kind of
[1:53:18] Speaker 1: like made me feel better was like that Matt gets
[1:53:20] Speaker 1: is like kind of out of politics now, or he
[1:53:22] Speaker 1: got like he got rejected from like you know, like
[1:53:24] Speaker 1: he at least it didn't get his dreams of like
[1:53:27] Speaker 1: cause you're like your character's clearly based, right, I mean
[1:53:30] Speaker 1: you know you knew that going in. There's like a yeah,
[1:53:32] Speaker 1: there's similar, Yeah, sure exactly. And I think I think
[1:53:38] Speaker 1: the blatant entitlement and the like, oh, I'm going to
[1:53:43] Speaker 1: be president, like none of this is going to matter.
[1:53:45] Speaker 1: It's like any other politician would be like even an
[1:53:48] Speaker 1: allegation like this could ruin my whole career and there's
[1:53:50] Speaker 1: like so much evidence against you, and you're like this
[1:53:53] Speaker 1: isn't happening you guys, And it's just so like to me,
[1:53:56] Speaker 1: that can only be Matt getz. Like that's only like
[1:53:58] Speaker 1: that level of like creepy, fucking narcissism that I can't even.
[1:54:03] Speaker 4: So did you look to any of them for inspo?
[1:54:05] Speaker 1: Did?
[1:54:06] Speaker 4: Yeah, you searched on that or you kind of knew
[1:54:08] Speaker 4: how to be I mean done.
[1:54:09] Speaker 5: It was like pretty like self explanatory in the writing
[1:54:12] Speaker 5: and like also based on just like the zeitgeist of
[1:54:15] Speaker 5: who these guys are and like what is constantly in our.
[1:54:18] Speaker 6: Feads all the time. So it felt pretty like Okay,
[1:54:21] Speaker 6: I can grab onto this. Yeah.
[1:54:23] Speaker 5: But what was really interesting is like they kind of
[1:54:25] Speaker 5: dug into my character, Congressman George Justin Howard, his his
[1:54:31] Speaker 5: childhood a little bit, and that was I found that interesting.
[1:54:36] Speaker 5: So like what kind of childhood does this guy have
[1:54:38] Speaker 5: where he has literally zero there's no awareness that he's
[1:54:42] Speaker 5: that anything he's doing is wrong, that he's ever going
[1:54:44] Speaker 5: to get caught, but no matter what he does, he
[1:54:47] Speaker 5: can do it with impunity.
[1:54:49] Speaker 6: Like I don't know, it was it was really interesting
[1:54:51] Speaker 6: to kind of dig around in there.
[1:54:53] Speaker 4: Yeah, he definitely had a hashtag boy mom.
[1:54:56] Speaker 1: But I mean, like we've watched every episode of this
[1:54:58] Speaker 1: show obviously a bunch of times, and like they've this
[1:55:00] Speaker 1: theme they've revisited many, many times, is like talking about
[1:55:03] Speaker 1: the childhood, like young men whose parents cover up for
[1:55:06] Speaker 1: their crimes, who tell them everything they do is fine,
[1:55:08] Speaker 1: like you just got to get to the top, Get
[1:55:10] Speaker 1: to the top, get to the top. You're the best,
[1:55:11] Speaker 1: You're the best, Like none of your mistakes are need
[1:55:14] Speaker 1: to be acknowledged, you know, and that's what breeds these
[1:55:17] Speaker 1: kind of people. Well, speaking of you played real life
[1:55:21] Speaker 1: Billy mcfarliy, Yes, another Dlulu.
[1:55:25] Speaker 5: Another Yeah, you guys are bringing out that whole era exactly.
[1:55:28] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[1:55:29] Speaker 2: Yeah, how was it playing this real life person? That
[1:55:31] Speaker 2: was pretty like we all know him, you know, we all.
[1:55:34] Speaker 1: Know he's in the news again lately saying Firefest two
[1:55:38] Speaker 1: is coming like RFS too.
[1:55:39] Speaker 4: Wow.
[1:55:40] Speaker 5: Yeah, No, that one was a lot of fun because
[1:55:42] Speaker 5: there was so much footage to go off of with
[1:55:44] Speaker 5: those documentaries on Hulu and Netflix, and it was a
[1:55:48] Speaker 5: lot of fun to sort of dive into that. But
[1:55:51] Speaker 5: also like, okay, how do I you know, you never
[1:55:53] Speaker 5: want to do an impression of these people you wanted
[1:55:55] Speaker 5: to do? You want to kind of borrow you know,
[1:55:57] Speaker 5: maybe like a vocal tick or a physic and maybe
[1:56:00] Speaker 5: some dialect stuff, but you also want to infuse your
[1:56:02] Speaker 5: own thing into it to create something in the middle.
[1:56:05] Speaker 6: And there's a play.
[1:56:07] Speaker 5: That I did on Broadway that I'm actually I was
[1:56:10] Speaker 5: just announced today I'm going to the West End to
[1:56:12] Speaker 5: do it.
[1:56:13] Speaker 6: Good Night Oscar with Sean Hayes.
[1:56:17] Speaker 5: Yeah, I played Jack Parr The Tonight Show, and it
[1:56:20] Speaker 5: was the same kind of process where it's like you
[1:56:23] Speaker 5: just study footage and you know, you're kind of like,
[1:56:26] Speaker 5: you know, you're trying to do the voice, you're trying
[1:56:27] Speaker 5: to do the physical, but then you try to forget
[1:56:29] Speaker 5: about it after you do that like kind of base
[1:56:32] Speaker 5: work so that you can kind of just have your
[1:56:33] Speaker 5: own amalgamation of it.
[1:56:36] Speaker 6: And I felt like my Billy was a lot like that.
[1:56:38] Speaker 5: And it was also Shondaland too, so everything was a
[1:56:40] Speaker 5: little bit elevated. You know. Some of the wardrobe, like
[1:56:43] Speaker 5: Billy's wardrobe was like, you know, Billy wishes he.
[1:56:46] Speaker 6: Looked like this in the wardrobe, you know what I mean.
[1:56:49] Speaker 6: It was a little a little heightened.
[1:56:51] Speaker 5: But yeah, that one, oh my god, it was so
[1:56:53] Speaker 5: fun to do. We shot in this like crazy townhouse
[1:56:57] Speaker 5: in Soho that had like five floors and an indoor
[1:57:01] Speaker 5: swimming pool and it was.
[1:57:02] Speaker 6: It was absolutely nuts cool.
[1:57:04] Speaker 2: Did you end up seeing who played it? I forgot
[1:57:07] Speaker 2: her name? Julia whatever? Did you see her on set?
[1:57:13] Speaker 1: Oh?
[1:57:13] Speaker 6: Yeah, we were, we were in the scenes together.
[1:57:14] Speaker 1: Yeah. Well yeah, So what was her vibe? Did she
[1:57:18] Speaker 1: keep the accent the whole time? Is she in and out?
[1:57:20] Speaker 1: What was what was that?
[1:57:22] Speaker 5: She was Julia like you know, off like you know,
[1:57:26] Speaker 5: you know, between action and cut obviously, then after that
[1:57:28] Speaker 5: between setups she's Julia, but she's still doing the dialect.
[1:57:32] Speaker 1: Okay, it's so hard to go in and out of
[1:57:35] Speaker 1: a dialect like that. It's so specific, like that weird
[1:57:38] Speaker 1: like euro American accent that she was doing, like.
[1:57:42] Speaker 5: Well, she was doing like kind of three or four
[1:57:45] Speaker 5: things at once, because it's like I think it's like
[1:57:47] Speaker 5: Eastern European origin but then lived in Germany. But then
[1:57:50] Speaker 5: it's but then it's trying to sound American on top
[1:57:52] Speaker 5: of that, like crazy complex.
[1:57:55] Speaker 4: So crazy, that so good, I really like.
[1:57:59] Speaker 1: But then like right out of Juilliard, you your first
[1:58:02] Speaker 1: ever IMDb credit for on camera stuff is literally the
[1:58:06] Speaker 1: lead in a sitcom.
[1:58:07] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[1:58:08] Speaker 1: That's when I've never seen that on anybody's IMDb that
[1:58:11] Speaker 1: they just like like they didn't have like a bunch
[1:58:13] Speaker 1: of little shorts they did first or like a bunch
[1:58:15] Speaker 1: of crappy TV shows where they played waiter number four
[1:58:18] Speaker 1: and like it's just like you thirty six episodes first credit.
[1:58:22] Speaker 1: Were you like okay? I mean was your mind blown?
[1:58:26] Speaker 1: Like how did you even know what to do when
[1:58:28] Speaker 1: you got to set?
[1:58:29] Speaker 5: I mean it was one of those like trial by
[1:58:31] Speaker 5: fire things. Like I graduated from school and I had
[1:58:35] Speaker 5: no I had no like aspirations to be on TV
[1:58:40] Speaker 5: or movies, Like I wanted to graduate from Juilliard and
[1:58:42] Speaker 5: like go be a company member at like Oregon Shakespeare
[1:58:44] Speaker 5: Festival or something.
[1:58:46] Speaker 6: That's what I wanted.
[1:58:47] Speaker 5: And like so the TV stuff just kind of like,
[1:58:49] Speaker 5: you know, like we had some great agents and stuff
[1:58:52] Speaker 5: that came to see and casting directors that came to
[1:58:54] Speaker 5: see shows at Juilliard and they started, you know, I
[1:58:57] Speaker 5: got a couple of great meetings and got great reps
[1:58:59] Speaker 5: out of it, and then started auditioning for TV, and
[1:59:02] Speaker 5: I was like, you know, I didn't think this was
[1:59:04] Speaker 5: going to be part of my journey. And then like
[1:59:06] Speaker 5: my third pilot season out of Juilliard, you know, I'm working,
[1:59:10] Speaker 5: I'm working theater refreshments. I'm selling water at Broadway shows,
[1:59:13] Speaker 5: like you know, I'm walking up and down the aisles
[1:59:15] Speaker 5: talking like four dollars bottles of water to the tourists.
[1:59:18] Speaker 6: And and then I'm auditioning for pilot.
[1:59:21] Speaker 5: This is like back during like pilot season proper, where
[1:59:23] Speaker 5: you go out for like you know, the NBC, CBS, Fox,
[1:59:26] Speaker 5: whatever pilots, and I get this one outsourced and then
[1:59:29] Speaker 5: it gets picked up for twenty two episodes and I
[1:59:32] Speaker 5: go in like so wet behind the ears and so earnest,
[1:59:37] Speaker 5: like I'm treating it like the cherry orchard, you know
[1:59:39] Speaker 5: what I mean.
[1:59:40] Speaker 6: Like I've never been on other than like a K
[1:59:42] Speaker 6: Jeweler's commercial.
[1:59:43] Speaker 5: I've never been on set before, so like I really
[1:59:46] Speaker 5: learned how to be like.
[1:59:49] Speaker 6: You know, there's like you're on set, there's like a
[1:59:50] Speaker 6: million people, like you know, what are what are all
[1:59:53] Speaker 6: these wires? Who are all these people? What are they holding?
[1:59:55] Speaker 6: You know?
[1:59:55] Speaker 5: So it was a cool way to sort of learn
[1:59:59] Speaker 5: in a intense and quick way. And uh so, yeah,
[2:00:03] Speaker 5: I was kind of see it as like my fifth
[2:00:05] Speaker 5: year of like school. You know, it's like the it's
[2:00:08] Speaker 5: like the camera part of school. And then that you know,
[2:00:11] Speaker 5: and then TV has kind of been my bread and
[2:00:13] Speaker 5: butter ever since, so you know, and I have like
[2:00:15] Speaker 5: a whole new love for doing that kind of stuff.
[2:00:17] Speaker 5: And then theater over here too.
[2:00:18] Speaker 1: You know.
[2:00:19] Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, oh I haven't.
[2:00:21] Speaker 5: I have a fun bit of bit of trivia about
[2:00:24] Speaker 5: about the beginning of the season that I did.
[2:00:27] Speaker 6: So this was the season where Marishka broke her ankle.
[2:00:30] Speaker 5: Yeah remember this, yes, and so she this was the
[2:00:33] Speaker 5: first episode back. I don't remember what what happened, but
[2:00:36] Speaker 5: I think she like broken in the Hamptons or something
[2:00:38] Speaker 5: like that month before shooting.
[2:00:40] Speaker 6: And so they wrote they wrote it in.
[2:00:43] Speaker 1: Getting chased off the road by like organized crime people like.
[2:00:47] Speaker 5: Exactly, yeah, exactly, Like she's like exactly a car is
[2:00:50] Speaker 5: like tailing her and she like swerves off the road.
[2:00:52] Speaker 5: And so yeah, those were the first two episodes where
[2:00:55] Speaker 5: she was she had the broken ankle.
[2:00:57] Speaker 6: So anyway, yeah, we're getting back.
[2:00:59] Speaker 4: To the SVU.
[2:01:00] Speaker 2: We got to talk about you getting slapped in the face.
[2:01:04] Speaker 6: By yeah, by by Gold.
[2:01:07] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[2:01:07] Speaker 6: Glenn Fleischler amazing, amazing. Do you guys know him at all?
[2:01:11] Speaker 4: He's been on three episodes of sv No.
[2:01:14] Speaker 1: Five, He's been on five episodes of SVU, we gotta
[2:01:16] Speaker 1: we got it to get him.
[2:01:17] Speaker 4: But here he plays a powerful guy.
[2:01:18] Speaker 2: He played like a loser lawyer and something in another episode,
[2:01:22] Speaker 2: but he was in was he True Detective?
[2:01:24] Speaker 4: Or I think of someone else? So he's the bad guy?
[2:01:29] Speaker 4: Is he the bad guy and true Detective?
[2:01:31] Speaker 3: Yeah?
[2:01:31] Speaker 1: I knew there was something creepy about him when I
[2:01:32] Speaker 1: saw him in this episode, and I was like, Barry too,
[2:01:36] Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I love Barry.
[2:01:38] Speaker 2: He also was in a Price about Rubies, which is
[2:01:40] Speaker 2: about orthodox shoes. Well, anyways, how was it getting slapped?
[2:01:44] Speaker 5: Oh?
[2:01:44] Speaker 6: You know, so you know, the cameras like behind us.
[2:01:47] Speaker 5: You know, there's like, you know, about a foot of
[2:01:49] Speaker 5: air between his hand and my face, so you know,
[2:01:53] Speaker 5: stage combat. Man, you know, it was just one of
[2:01:56] Speaker 5: those things. But they but that what that sound they
[2:01:58] Speaker 5: put in posts. It was like night and you know,
[2:02:00] Speaker 5: nice and media because.
[2:02:01] Speaker 4: It's what we all want to do. We all really
[2:02:04] Speaker 4: wanted to slap you across the face.
[2:02:06] Speaker 2: And it's a nice twist because then you're like, who
[2:02:09] Speaker 2: is this lawyer? Like he's obviously running the show, and
[2:02:12] Speaker 2: then you realize that you're kind of you're just a
[2:02:15] Speaker 2: clog in.
[2:02:15] Speaker 1: The earth and the thing. Yeah, yeah, yeah, the wheel.
[2:02:20] Speaker 1: I'm like, I know, clog's not right. I don't know
[2:02:22] Speaker 1: what it was.
[2:02:23] Speaker 2: How was it working with the regulars any Marishka skinning
[2:02:29] Speaker 2: you know stories for us?
[2:02:31] Speaker 5: Yeah, well Marishka was great and she like I just
[2:02:35] Speaker 5: remember feeling like she's got this she's got this stare
[2:02:40] Speaker 5: when she's looking at a perpetrator that's just so like
[2:02:44] Speaker 5: it just like dissolves you in your seat.
[2:02:47] Speaker 6: Like I remember sitting across from her in the interrogation
[2:02:50] Speaker 6: scene and like.
[2:02:52] Speaker 5: I went home like really shaken, like I think she
[2:02:55] Speaker 5: doesn't like me, Like you know, it's not just acting.
[2:02:58] Speaker 5: I think it was something to do with me. So
[2:03:00] Speaker 5: she really got my skin because she's so good. She's
[2:03:03] Speaker 5: so it was just like really maybe squirm. Yeah, and
[2:03:07] Speaker 5: then Scanna and then Scannaveno. He and I like back
[2:03:10] Speaker 5: in the day used to go out for like a
[2:03:13] Speaker 5: lot of the same parts, like in two thousand and
[2:03:16] Speaker 5: eight and nine. So he's like, I remember you from
[2:03:20] Speaker 5: sign in sheets at like Telsea's office back in.
[2:03:24] Speaker 4: The day signed before Oh yeah.
[2:03:29] Speaker 5: Oh yeah, remember the old Telsey where it's like it's
[2:03:31] Speaker 5: like that big old room with all those benches.
[2:03:34] Speaker 1: Like yeah, with all the benches and everybody's working on
[2:03:36] Speaker 1: their stuff and it's like so nerve wrecking.
[2:03:39] Speaker 5: Yeah you can cut the terror with a nice yeah exactly.
[2:03:43] Speaker 5: So we like we go back to those days and
[2:03:45] Speaker 5: we were kind of like, you know, just talking about that,
[2:03:48] Speaker 5: but yeah, it was so sweet.
[2:03:50] Speaker 4: Wait, tell us about this show you're on now.
[2:03:54] Speaker 6: So I'm on a show called gross Point Garden Society
[2:03:57] Speaker 6: on NBC and Peacock.
[2:04:00] Speaker 5: And it's sort of a like really frothy, fun like
[2:04:06] Speaker 5: uh you know, sexy, colorful, like kind of Desperate Housewives.
[2:04:11] Speaker 6: Yeah, I guess you now grow back, you know.
[2:04:14] Speaker 5: Like a little bit of that, a little bit of
[2:04:15] Speaker 5: Pretty Little Liars, a little bit of how to Grey
[2:04:17] Speaker 5: with Murder and the bay that it takes place in
[2:04:21] Speaker 5: gross Pointe, Michigan, which is like the super like affluent
[2:04:25] Speaker 5: suburb of Detroit, and everything's like picture perfect on the
[2:04:28] Speaker 5: on the you know, on the surface, and you know,
[2:04:31] Speaker 5: pristine and it's all keeping up with the Joneses and
[2:04:34] Speaker 5: you know, all this like high society stuff. But it
[2:04:37] Speaker 5: centers on this garden center at the center of the
[2:04:40] Speaker 5: of town. It's these four unlikely friends who are connected
[2:04:44] Speaker 5: through this garden club and it jumps back and forth
[2:04:46] Speaker 5: in time. But the big thing is that there's a
[2:04:48] Speaker 5: murder at the center of it. So at the beginning,
[2:04:51] Speaker 5: you see them six months in the future, in the
[2:04:54] Speaker 5: winter of these four people burying a body in the garden,
[2:04:58] Speaker 5: and so the whole the whole season is like who's
[2:05:00] Speaker 5: in the grave. And so we jump back and forth
[2:05:03] Speaker 5: in time and sort of take you on this wild
[2:05:05] Speaker 5: journey of like how we got there, And yeah.
[2:05:09] Speaker 4: That sounds fun.
[2:05:09] Speaker 1: I've been getting I think based on what I watch.
[2:05:12] Speaker 1: I've been getting served a lot of advertising for it,
[2:05:14] Speaker 1: and I've been wanting to watch it.
[2:05:15] Speaker 4: I'm just like done everything.
[2:05:17] Speaker 5: But it is a lot of fun. We had a
[2:05:19] Speaker 5: blast doing it. And and the guy I played, Brett,
[2:05:24] Speaker 5: and he's like a dad of he's a divorced dad
[2:05:26] Speaker 5: of two, so he has got a daughter who's eight
[2:05:29] Speaker 5: and a son who's twelve. So that's like a new
[2:05:31] Speaker 5: thing for me playing a dad of like kids that age.
[2:05:34] Speaker 5: This guy's very much the opposite of my law and
[2:05:36] Speaker 5: order guy, like yeah, so it was kind of refreshing
[2:05:39] Speaker 5: to like, you know, he I think he's probably too good.
[2:05:42] Speaker 6: Of a guy. Is his problem, and you.
[2:05:45] Speaker 5: Know, he's got this, he's got this dream to start
[2:05:47] Speaker 5: a car restoration business, but you know he's sort of
[2:05:50] Speaker 5: like bogged down because his ex wife left him for
[2:05:54] Speaker 5: her current husband, who's this like fancy schmancy lawyer. Yeah,
[2:05:57] Speaker 5: there's like a lot of tension there. And this show
[2:06:01] Speaker 5: is really funny. It's it's super funny, super you know,
[2:06:04] Speaker 5: it's it's just one of those things where you want
[2:06:06] Speaker 5: to like pourse up a glass of wine forget about
[2:06:08] Speaker 5: the world.
[2:06:08] Speaker 6: Yeah, just have fun.
[2:06:09] Speaker 1: You know, I knew a bunch of people that grew
[2:06:12] Speaker 1: up in gross Point, and I think the town I
[2:06:14] Speaker 1: grew up in has a bit of a gross Point vibe.
[2:06:17] Speaker 1: So I like shows like that where it's just set
[2:06:20] Speaker 1: against all these shitty people. Well, I do have one
[2:06:22] Speaker 1: more SVU thing that I well, because you've done so
[2:06:25] Speaker 1: many things in New York, But how was it like
[2:06:27] Speaker 1: filming outside the press conference, the courtroom stairs like that,
[2:06:31] Speaker 1: those kinds of scenes.
[2:06:32] Speaker 4: Are you used to shooting in the streets?
[2:06:34] Speaker 6: Yeah?
[2:06:35] Speaker 5: Yeah, it was a lot of fun stuff like that.
[2:06:36] Speaker 5: Like we shot the in the first episode of the two,
[2:06:41] Speaker 5: we had this big fundraiser that was shot at the
[2:06:44] Speaker 5: Marriott Marquis and we got to and then when they
[2:06:48] Speaker 5: go up to the party up the you know the
[2:06:49] Speaker 5: infamous party upstairs where they were where he gets caught.
[2:06:54] Speaker 5: They had this shot where we got to go into
[2:06:56] Speaker 5: the you know those famous elevators in the middle of
[2:06:58] Speaker 5: the Marriott Marquis that are like those glass Oh it's
[2:07:01] Speaker 5: like mary Marquis was built in like late seventies, and
[2:07:03] Speaker 5: it's like this almost like brutalist kind of architecture, and
[2:07:07] Speaker 5: it's got these glass tube elevators that go all the
[2:07:09] Speaker 5: way up, so like you know, you're standing in the
[2:07:11] Speaker 5: glass tube and they go up super fast and your
[2:07:14] Speaker 5: stomach drops and stuff. And so we got to we
[2:07:17] Speaker 5: had the whole place to ourselves, so like it was
[2:07:21] Speaker 5: cool to shoot on shoot on those and like and also,
[2:07:24] Speaker 5: well it's not so much of a secret right now
[2:07:26] Speaker 5: because I'm spilling the bean. It's the best public bathroom
[2:07:29] Speaker 5: in Times Square is the Marriott Marquee.
[2:07:32] Speaker 6: You go to the eighth floor. You know, you there's
[2:07:34] Speaker 6: never anywhere to pee in Times Square, Yeah, you go, No.
[2:07:37] Speaker 2: I always have to go buy a shot somewhere. I'm
[2:07:38] Speaker 2: always running into some Irish pub buying a shot. But yeah,
[2:07:42] Speaker 2: the Marquis eighth.
[2:07:43] Speaker 6: Floor, Marquie eighth floor. You are to here first. Yeah. Wow,
[2:07:47] Speaker 6: it's really nice too. They keep it pretty clean and.
[2:07:49] Speaker 1: They just let anybody can take the elevator to the
[2:07:51] Speaker 1: eighth floor. That's not like a key access you just yeah.
[2:07:54] Speaker 5: I mean I would, I would just uh, you know,
[2:07:57] Speaker 5: might be safer doing the escalator because you know, the
[2:08:00] Speaker 5: less people kind of garden the escalators, so you go
[2:08:02] Speaker 5: up a eight escalators.
[2:08:04] Speaker 4: Are the New York tips that we have this podcast for.
[2:08:07] Speaker 6: Yeah, exactly.
[2:08:08] Speaker 2: My gosh, wait, do you watch Do you watch your stuff?
[2:08:12] Speaker 6: I do?
[2:08:12] Speaker 5: Yeah, I can't help it. I watch everything I do.
[2:08:15] Speaker 5: Like a couple of times it's it's I'm kind of
[2:08:17] Speaker 5: a masochist like.
[2:08:18] Speaker 4: That, you're studying what you've done, you know, to see
[2:08:23] Speaker 4: what you know.
[2:08:24] Speaker 6: It's probably not healthy.
[2:08:27] Speaker 5: I mean, I uh, I don't know. I just it's
[2:08:31] Speaker 5: just something I obsessed over. But I never change anything
[2:08:34] Speaker 5: based off of it.
[2:08:35] Speaker 1: I'm just okay, you're just there to like you're just
[2:08:37] Speaker 1: there to like hit yourself.
[2:08:39] Speaker 4: You're trying to.
[2:08:40] Speaker 5: And then there's like there's times where all there's like
[2:08:42] Speaker 5: some nights where I'll watch something like that was pretty
[2:08:43] Speaker 5: damn good, and I'll watch that same thing a couple
[2:08:45] Speaker 5: of nights later. But that was absolute garbage, and it
[2:08:48] Speaker 5: just kind of goes like that, it's it's a fun game.
[2:08:51] Speaker 4: Wow.
[2:08:55] Speaker 2: I mean I would say, so charming, so exciting. I
[2:08:59] Speaker 2: can't believe he plays such a douche lord. But I
[2:09:03] Speaker 2: started watching Gardens Society. Yeah, yeah, it's fun. I mean
[2:09:07] Speaker 2: it's it's in the vein of Elspeth, you know I'm in. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
[2:09:11] Speaker 2: a romp around the crime universe. That's right, that's.
[2:09:14] Speaker 1: Right, And I love that. Yeah, he's like a douche
[2:09:19] Speaker 1: and mister Robot, he's like, I just think it's fun
[2:09:23] Speaker 1: that we keep talking to these guys that are so
[2:09:25] Speaker 1: hateable on screen, but then they're so lovely in the
[2:09:29] Speaker 1: Vein of Buchanan, you know, just nice, nice people in
[2:09:32] Speaker 1: real life.
[2:09:32] Speaker 4: That's acting acting, it is, but he was extra great.
[2:09:38] Speaker 2: I don't know, I feel like we've really had a
[2:09:39] Speaker 2: run of just nice, nice, good guys.
[2:09:43] Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm excited.
[2:09:46] Speaker 1: The post mortem of this episode is, yeah, no powers,
[2:09:50] Speaker 1: crowd fully, Yeah exactly. But our corrupts absolutely absolute power corrupts. Yeah,
[2:09:57] Speaker 1: something like that. But like, yeah, you you can't give
[2:10:00] Speaker 1: and you can't give people an ounce of power or
[2:10:04] Speaker 1: they'll abuse it.
[2:10:05] Speaker 2: It's really crazy everyone, even yeah, the nuns, everyone, they'll
[2:10:10] Speaker 2: do something bad. Yeah, yeah, and it's about me. I've
[2:10:14] Speaker 2: been fighting people on the inner I know their bots on.
[2:10:16] Speaker 2: I'm gonna stop. I'm stucky. But the fucking Kardashians talking
[2:10:21] Speaker 2: against public education.
[2:10:22] Speaker 4: I don't even know about this. What did they do
[2:10:25] Speaker 4: so well?
[2:10:25] Speaker 2: All just the rise of homeschool anti education, Fuck the
[2:10:28] Speaker 2: schools is just like feeding into all this propaganda. And
[2:10:32] Speaker 2: to have people with such influence they basically I forgot
[2:10:35] Speaker 2: which Kardashians were talking, but they were like school is
[2:10:39] Speaker 2: so like retro, it's over, it's outdated. I'm all about homeschooling,
[2:10:44] Speaker 2: homeschoolings in and it's like, well, first of all, you're
[2:10:47] Speaker 2: rich enough to hire teachers, so it's different. But like
[2:10:49] Speaker 2: most people are fucking dumb, like I don't they shouldn't
[2:10:53] Speaker 2: be homeschooling, Like you're dumb, Like what are you talking about?
[2:10:56] Speaker 1: It's probably Courtney because now that you say this, I
[2:10:59] Speaker 1: saw like a headline that was like here what Courtney
[2:11:01] Speaker 1: Kardashian I had to say about? And Courtney has like
[2:11:05] Speaker 1: a lot of really stupid views, Like even her sisters
[2:11:07] Speaker 1: are like like, yeah, exactly, you know, oh well on this,
[2:11:13] Speaker 1: on this, but like Courtney is like a mom that
[2:11:16] Speaker 1: I would not hang out like even if she wasn't
[2:11:19] Speaker 1: like her, Like she just like doesn't apparently does it.
[2:11:22] Speaker 1: If her kids don't feel like it, they don't have
[2:11:23] Speaker 1: to go to school, if they want to have like
[2:11:25] Speaker 1: a cuddle day, She'll just like let them stay home,
[2:11:27] Speaker 1: like no discipline, like doesn't think school is important.
[2:11:30] Speaker 4: Like she's not, especially with like rich people too.
[2:11:33] Speaker 2: It's like you're already so disconnected from humanity and society
[2:11:38] Speaker 2: like you're and so now you're all like and all
[2:11:42] Speaker 2: the private schools are they would be with only rich
[2:11:43] Speaker 2: people too.
[2:11:44] Speaker 4: It's just like so fucked up.
[2:11:46] Speaker 2: And then you're in fights with people where their bios
[2:11:49] Speaker 2: are like Christian, heavenly gifted, and then you're talking to
[2:11:52] Speaker 2: them and they're just like, it's not my responsibility. Stop
[2:11:56] Speaker 2: asking people for handouts. And I'm like, school isn't handout,
[2:12:00] Speaker 2: And then she goes, do you not even fucking understand?
[2:12:02] Speaker 2: Like so aggressive, and I'm like, no, I understand what
[2:12:03] Speaker 2: you're saying. I'm like, I just disagree with you. I
[2:12:05] Speaker 2: think it's like, yeah, our responsibility to make sure kids
[2:12:07] Speaker 2: are fed, safe and educated, Like I don't know what
[2:12:10] Speaker 2: to tell you a handout. These kids aren't your responsibility.
[2:12:14] Speaker 2: It's just like what are you talking about? Everyone should
[2:12:16] Speaker 2: be able to go to school.
[2:12:17] Speaker 1: Yeah, it's there's also just like a lot of very
[2:12:20] Speaker 1: stupid people out there.
[2:12:21] Speaker 4: That's the problem. It shouldn't be teaching.
[2:12:23] Speaker 2: I just don't get at when people don't realize, like, no,
[2:12:25] Speaker 2: you're actually dumb, like you can't teach long division, Like
[2:12:28] Speaker 2: what are we doing here?
[2:12:30] Speaker 4: What are we doing? It's like it's that it's like socialization.
[2:12:34] Speaker 4: I don't know. I'm not going to get on a
[2:12:35] Speaker 4: whole thing about homeschooling.
[2:12:37] Speaker 1: I'm sure it works well for some people, but like
[2:12:40] Speaker 1: to be a chamberlain, yes, to be like everybody should
[2:12:45] Speaker 1: move towards homeschooling is.
[2:12:46] Speaker 2: Well because it's also like the Duggers stuff like that
[2:12:49] Speaker 2: Dugger doc. It's basically like you think they're just one
[2:12:52] Speaker 2: religious like you know, weird family, but it's like a
[2:12:54] Speaker 2: group of them.
[2:12:55] Speaker 4: There's a guy in charge, he does the books.
[2:12:57] Speaker 2: It's all like you know, patriarchal lets abuse and then
[2:13:01] Speaker 2: he abuses people.
[2:13:02] Speaker 4: It's just like eat like.
[2:13:07] Speaker 2: But and then it gets bigger and bigger of just
[2:13:09] Speaker 2: like people think like parenthood is when you're like, you know,
[2:13:12] Speaker 2: as being selfless, when it seems like the most selfish
[2:13:15] Speaker 2: behavior comes out of people in the name of their children,
[2:13:18] Speaker 2: and it's like fuck all these other kids. Yeah, and
[2:13:21] Speaker 2: that bothers me too on this level where it's like
[2:13:24] Speaker 2: I shouldn't want Why am I carrying more than you
[2:13:27] Speaker 2: about other kids?
[2:13:28] Speaker 4: Like that's crazy? Yeah.
[2:13:30] Speaker 1: No, I totally totally like the way that free lunch
[2:13:35] Speaker 1: gets people riled up.
[2:13:37] Speaker 4: It's so wild.
[2:13:39] Speaker 1: I mean whatever, this government's about to cut money for
[2:13:42] Speaker 1: everybody to eat, so it's crazy. But let's not get
[2:13:45] Speaker 1: into that as we always do right before that episode.
[2:13:48] Speaker 4: No, no, no, just human trafficking.
[2:13:51] Speaker 1: Yeah, and thank you all for staying with us. We
[2:13:53] Speaker 1: know this is a long one, but you know some
[2:13:55] Speaker 1: of you love the Jumbo size.
[2:13:56] Speaker 2: Maybe this will last it because they listen to it
[2:13:59] Speaker 2: in the car. It helps their commute, Yeah, because they
[2:14:02] Speaker 2: get it a week.
[2:14:04] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[2:14:04] Speaker 3: Oh.
[2:14:05] Speaker 1: I went to the La Fair on Sunday with the
[2:14:07] Speaker 1: kids and another family and the second I walk in,
[2:14:11] Speaker 1: like we're literally just getting our wristbands, and I see
[2:14:13] Speaker 1: this woman wearing the Olivia Benson Eras sweatshirt and I
[2:14:17] Speaker 1: go I love your sweatshirt. And then I start, I start.
[2:14:21] Speaker 1: I just keep walking like I'm okay, I go I
[2:14:22] Speaker 1: love your sweatshirt, and she goes, wait are you and
[2:14:24] Speaker 1: I go yep, and I just kept walking. And then
[2:14:28] Speaker 1: her husband chased me down and was like, my wife's
[2:14:30] Speaker 1: too embarrassed. Can get a picture with you? Can like
[2:14:32] Speaker 1: to ask you? Can I get one? I was like,
[2:14:33] Speaker 1: of course she could have asked me. She just seemed
[2:14:36] Speaker 1: like I didn't know whether like she thought I was,
[2:14:38] Speaker 1: like you know who she thought I was. But I
[2:14:40] Speaker 1: was pretty sure that she listened and she was like,
[2:14:42] Speaker 1: I listen to your podcast on my commute.
[2:14:43] Speaker 4: Thank you so much. And I was so cute. But
[2:14:46] Speaker 4: the La Fair huge fair, like thousands and thousands of people.
[2:14:49] Speaker 1: I was like the first person I saw basically in
[2:14:51] Speaker 1: there was a murder girl. So great to see you.
[2:14:55] Speaker 1: I just wet shirt this week. Yeah we should get
[2:14:59] Speaker 1: a lot. Let do what would sister Peg do? This
[2:15:02] Speaker 1: is our weekly segment.
[2:15:04] Speaker 4: You know, we.
[2:15:04] Speaker 2: Direct the car coming back from holiday week because I'm
[2:15:07] Speaker 2: like sitting here and I keep just remembering all the
[2:15:09] Speaker 2: things I haven't done.
[2:15:11] Speaker 1: I know, oh wait fuck oh now the and now
[2:15:14] Speaker 1: the week is like a day shorter to do all
[2:15:16] Speaker 1: the ship you gotta do. And you're just like I've
[2:15:19] Speaker 1: been dealing with my poisoning. JK, I've been getting drunk.
[2:15:22] Speaker 2: I mean, listen, just so quick recap before we get
[2:15:25] Speaker 2: into what would Sister Peg?
[2:15:26] Speaker 4: But like am I Memorial Day? That lane? My friend
[2:15:29] Speaker 4: he cooks who we had just the best.
[2:15:33] Speaker 2: I had muscles, I had homemade onion rings, steak, asparagus,
[2:15:39] Speaker 2: crab dip.
[2:15:40] Speaker 1: He doesn't really relent. He's very good at cooking.
[2:15:45] Speaker 2: We were, we were having a great fucking time. Yeah,
[2:15:51] Speaker 2: another vodka. Another I've been drinking. I've been drinking.
[2:15:56] Speaker 1: Okay, all right, what this is our weekly segment what
[2:16:00] Speaker 1: would Sister Peg Do? Where we direct you towards an organization,
[2:16:04] Speaker 1: a blog, post, a book, a movie, a doc something
[2:16:07] Speaker 1: to give you more information about what we talked about.
[2:16:09] Speaker 1: And listen, there's not a lot of resources for how
[2:16:13] Speaker 1: we take down shitty Republican predators, so I'm not really sure.
[2:16:18] Speaker 4: I wasn't really sure where to go with that.
[2:16:20] Speaker 1: And what I've been wanting to call out for a
[2:16:21] Speaker 1: while is Fiona Apple, one of my favorite artists from
[2:16:25] Speaker 1: my youth and current day, has released She's a court watcher,
[2:16:29] Speaker 1: and she's been a court watcher for I think five years,
[2:16:32] Speaker 1: and she released a song called pre Trial Parentheses let
[2:16:36] Speaker 1: Her Go Home. So, like I said, Fiona Apple has
[2:16:38] Speaker 1: been a court watcher for the past several years, taking
[2:16:41] Speaker 1: advantage of the proliferation of online hearings to virtually sit
[2:16:44] Speaker 1: in on proceedings in Prince County, Prince George's County, Maryland.
[2:16:48] Speaker 1: And she has started this or I don't know if
[2:16:53] Speaker 1: she started it, but she's shouting out this website called
[2:16:56] Speaker 1: let Her Go Home dot org on that they're really
[2:16:59] Speaker 1: focused on the hundreds of thousands of women and girls
[2:17:03] Speaker 1: who are incarcerated in the United States on any given day,
[2:17:07] Speaker 1: and how many of them are detained pre trail because
[2:17:10] Speaker 1: they can't afford bail, and many of them are moms
[2:17:13] Speaker 1: and they have are low income and it's just like
[2:17:15] Speaker 1: really really to me, sort of a disgusting facet of
[2:17:20] Speaker 1: the cash bail system that is screwing so many people's lives.
[2:17:24] Speaker 4: So go to let Her Go Home dot org.
[2:17:26] Speaker 1: You can find a local bail fund, you can donate
[2:17:28] Speaker 1: to the project overall, and yeah, we'll have a link
[2:17:32] Speaker 1: to that in our show notes and as always in
