Write a letter of gratefulness to someone who deserves to be recognized. Every person alive today craves sincere appreciation. Handwriting a letter to a good soul is a gift you both get to receive. I'm truly super excited over the upcoming release of my new book The Robot and the Gardener: Being Fully Human in an Artificial Age (Penguin Random House). It's a parable and it's different (by far!) from any book I've ever written. You can join the list here if you'd like to be among the first to receive any updates. Send handwritten notes of thank you, a thank you. Of encouragement, of update and
celebration and you'll stand out. I mean, remember this people do business with people
they like. People do business with people they trust. People do business with people who
make them feel special. This is a GK, a gargantuan competitive advantage in this world
where people have forgotten who puts food on the family table. So please let me repeat it
to reinforce it. Send handwritten notes of thank you. Of encouragement when there's any
opportunity of update. Hey David, I just got back from Toronto. It was fantastic and
handwritten thank you notes of celebration. Congratulations! You did that. Great
artwork. I wanted to applaud you for it. So few people do this. You will be unforgettable.
Your job as an entrepreneur, as a business leader is to be fair. And please remember
what I said. People do business with people they like. People do business with, people
they trust, and people do business. Please highlight this one with people who make them
feel special. Related to this. Send flowers. I'm just giving you life lessons, so apply them
in whatever context you like. Send flowers, especially to your mother. Especially to your
mother. I'm just offering some life lessons here. So I know you know this, but the importance of family. Little idea. Along with handwritten notes. Send flowers and send books to people, whatever the book is. If you like a book by 20 copies and get a handwritten note and send them out to people. Maybe it's a supplier, maybe it's a partner. Maybe it's a new. New contact. Next idea. Overtip hotel housekeepers. Overtip hotel housekeepers. And I know this might sound strange, but when you're in a hotel, leave the room clean. The way you do one thing is the way you do everything. The way you do one thing is the way you do everything. The way you do one thing is the way you do everything. Showing respect for the hotel room keeper who's going to walk in that someone's mother. That's someone's father. That someone's sister? That someone's brother. But showing respect in that context will allow you to show respect in every context. Again, you will not only stand out. People will remember you're that person who left the room clean 20 years ago. No one else ever did that at the hotel, but it will allow you to show respect to everyone, Next idea. Getting up early will completely change your life, and you don't have to do this if this doesn't work for you. I'm just sharing what's worked for me. Getting up early. It's going to take you a month or two to install the habit, but I just can't tell you the benefits it brings. It gives you an hour to work on yourself. It gives you an hour to become wiser, gives you an hour to become stronger and more resilient. It gives you an hour to read the great books on philosophy. It gives you an hour to reconnect with the best within you, so that you go out into this world of angry people, or confused people, or mean people, or superficial people, and you have a grounding that allows you to be anchored in who you truly are. I mean, that's that's the stuff of that's heroic. So The 5AM Club, I find 5 to 6 I call it The Holy Hour or The Victory
bathe yourself in the words of the person you want to be, in the life you want to create.
Next idea. Stop waiting for a savior and a knight on a white horse to bring you the
answers, or the opportunities or the happiness that you want. And remember that you've
got to create those things. Next idea. Keep a morning journal. And I recently heard this
idea, and I just offered to you because one of the things you can do in your morning
journal is to write gratitude. And someone recently told me five times a day he has a
notification show up on his phone where he asks where he answers this question. What
are three things I'm grateful for? So five times during the day, I guess it's however many
hours apart. He has a notification and he looks at it and it says, what are you grateful for?
And he goes comes up with three things five times a day. And if he's in a business
meeting, he'll stop the business meeting and he'll say, I've got this little ritual I do. I come
up with three things I'm grateful for. Let me ask you, business partner, what are three
things you're grateful for? And he said, it does amazing things. So I just offer that to you
in case you find it interesting. But keep a journal, keep a notebook, write down your
ideas. Could be on your phone, but keep an inventory of your good ideas and then you're
on an airplane. Study them and look at the ones that might be a bit more interesting.
