M. was thirteen years old. She loved anime and sewing her own costumes. On the evening of July 18, 2017, she was murdered in Burnaby's Central Park. Her body was found there on July 19, 2017. This crime shocked British Columbia and Canada. In this episode, we tell you about M. and her family, and the truth about the man arrested for this heinous crime. What followed her murder was a massive investigation. Three hundred officers worked the case. Police looked at two thousand people as possible suspects. More than a year passed with no answers. It became IHIT's largest active investigation, and one of the largest they had ever handled, with more than 2,300 investigative tasks completed. Investigators eventually turned to cutting edge DNA technology and investigative strategies rarely used in Canada to find him. This is Part One of a three-part series on M.'s murder. Content warning: this episode discusses the murder of a minor. PLEASE READ: Some TNTC+ episodes may be released publicly in the future.
