Secrets! Mechanical beasts! Real beasts! This episode covers the two-part special "The Secret of the Fire Nation" which is Book Two, chapters 12: The Serpent's Pass (a huge showcase of girl power) and 13: The Drill (a huge showcase of industrial power). Jordan calls everyone “chitters”. Katie and Troy’s hips are going out and their cousin drives by on his motorcycle. Jordan talks about the Serpent’s Pants and the Avatar trading card game. Blasphemous Troy says Jet is forgettable. Katie observes that we reconnect with a ridiculous amount of characters from first season and she agrees with Jordan that Toph is MVP in these episodes and discuss the golden seal of the Flying Boar. Jordan breaks down the themes of the Sokka and Suki scene on the plateau with dizzying detail. Katie is shipping Zuko and Jet. Troy and Jordan argue over Smellerbee. Troy says “Bong Sing Se” which sounds like a counterculture festival. Troy thinks everything is a plot hole and Katie says the Drill’s slurry looks like fake cheese or old gravy. Click here to send us a voice memo we may play on a future episode!

[0:40] SPEAKER_03: No.
[0:41] SPEAKER_04: Readers, if you can give Katie a massage, could you do that, please?
[0:46] SPEAKER_03: Well, truth be told, uh, we were listening to the throwback Britney Spears songs last night, and I was dancing around, and I think, yeah, I'm all sore.
[0:55] SPEAKER_03: You threw something out?
[0:56] SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
[0:57] SPEAKER_01: Which which song?

[1:07] SPEAKER_03: Really?
[1:08] SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
[1:08] SPEAKER_04: Oh.
[1:09] SPEAKER_04: Oops.
[1:10] SPEAKER_04: You want like a toxic gal?
[1:12] SPEAKER_03: Uh I mean that's good too, but I liked like womanizer.
[1:16] SPEAKER_01: I'll be sweeping my kitchen and then I'll hit I'll feel my hip go out just a little bit and then uh slip back into place just before I go down, and I think to myself, oops, I did it again.
[1:27] SPEAKER_03: What?
[1:27] SPEAKER_03: What?
[1:28] SPEAKER_03: You're in the kitchen.
[1:29] SPEAKER_03: Your hip goes out a little bit.
[1:32] SPEAKER_03: He like kind of shifts back over.
[1:35] SPEAKER_03: And he says, What?
[1:37] SPEAKER_04: He says, Oops, I did it again.
[1:38] SPEAKER_03: Oh, oops, my hip went out again.
[1:41] SPEAKER_03: Let me just pop it back.
[1:42] SPEAKER_04: Okay, everyone listening is gonna think you two are in like your mid-40s.
[1:49] SPEAKER_04: Drew and I have taken a beating.
[1:50] SPEAKER_04: Well, I don't, you know, I feel like I'm aging at a much slower rate than either of you.
[1:54] SPEAKER_03: Alright, let's cut the chit chat.
[1:57] SPEAKER_04: Hey chitters, welcome back to Yip Yip Hooray, an Avatar podcast.
[2:02] SPEAKER_04: This is uh oh, it should be called hip hip hooray, I guess if your guys' hips are like falling out.
[2:07] SPEAKER_04: Hip hip oops, hooray.
[2:09] SPEAKER_03: Hip hip ouch, my aging body.
[2:12] SPEAKER_03: Oops, did it again.
[2:13] SPEAKER_04: Yep, yep.
[2:14] SPEAKER_04: It's coming for us all.
[2:16] SPEAKER_03: Okay.
[2:17] SPEAKER_03: So we're back.
[2:18] SPEAKER_04: We're back.
[2:19] SPEAKER_04: Who are we?
[2:20] SPEAKER_03: I'm Katie.
[2:21] SPEAKER_04: Oh, Troy just pointed at me.
[2:24] SPEAKER_04: You know, as Oregonians, we're very polite.
[2:27] SPEAKER_04: It's like, no, no, no, you go first.
[2:29] SPEAKER_04: No, no, no, no, you go first.
[2:31] SPEAKER_04: So I don't know who's going to be introduced, but uh I'll Troy and Jordan.
[2:36] SPEAKER_01: What the?
[2:37] SPEAKER_01: He said, I don't know who's gonna be introduced.
[2:39] SPEAKER_01: I said rock, paper, scissors.
[2:41] SPEAKER_01: Oh, we could.
[2:42] SPEAKER_01: Okay.
[2:43] SPEAKER_03: One, two, three.
[2:44] SPEAKER_04: Um, so I win, I defer, you have to introduce yourself.
[2:49] SPEAKER_01: Hero in the house.
[2:51] SPEAKER_04: Loser?
[2:52] SPEAKER_04: Like as in he lost, not that he is a loser.
[2:56] SPEAKER_04: Hey, hips, I'm really sorry about that.
[2:58] SPEAKER_03: This is a weird start.
[3:00] SPEAKER_04: Oops, he did it again.
[3:02] SPEAKER_03: Oh.
[3:02] SPEAKER_03: Who are you?
[3:03] SPEAKER_03: I'm a jerk.
[3:04] SPEAKER_03: I'm a big fat jerk.
[3:06] SPEAKER_03: And you just spit in my eye.
[3:08] SPEAKER_03: And you just cheated at rock, paper, scissors.
[3:10] SPEAKER_04: I did well, you know, if you are a telekinetic as I am, then yes, I did cheat.
[3:16] SPEAKER_04: It's me, Jay Orton.
[3:18] SPEAKER_03: Great.
[3:19] SPEAKER_03: Alright, we watched two episodes today of Avatar, The Last Airbender.
[3:24] SPEAKER_04: What were the names of the episodes, Katie?
[3:26] SPEAKER_03: Serpents Pass and The Drill.
[3:29] SPEAKER_04: They were originally packaged together in September 2006 as the one part, one well, one two-part, one-hour special, The Secret of the Fire Nation.
[3:40] SPEAKER_04: And again, it's one of those episodes I remember very fondly because in July they had the hour-long special, The Fury of Aang, and then they didn't have any episodes for a couple months to like play with your heart over the summer.
[3:52] SPEAKER_04: Can you imagine the agony I went through?
[3:55] SPEAKER_04: The last thing I saw was Aang sobbing in Katara's arms about losing Apa.
[4:00] SPEAKER_04: There's no closure.
[4:02] SPEAKER_04: There's a motorcycle going by.
[4:05] SPEAKER_01: I think it's Tyler.
[4:06] SPEAKER_03: Oh, it's always Tyler.
[4:07] SPEAKER_04: It's their cousin.
[4:08] SPEAKER_04: We all live together on this compound.
[4:10] SPEAKER_04: Actually, the whole town is just people we're related to.
[4:14] SPEAKER_04: We're related to half of this.
[4:15] SPEAKER_04: I recognize that motorcycle sound anywhere.
[4:17] SPEAKER_04: Okay, wait.
[4:18] SPEAKER_03: Okay, wait, but let's talk about this for a second.
[4:20] SPEAKER_03: Because I don't even know.
[4:21] SPEAKER_03: A few months ago, yeah, there was some annoying motorbike that kept going by, and then I mean, this is like months later that we figured out it was Tyler.
[4:30] SPEAKER_04: Well, because we saw this mysterious motorcycle guy driving by with like a bunny head.
[4:36] SPEAKER_03: Yeah, there's like little ears flapping in the wind.
[4:38] SPEAKER_04: It was like a typical motorcycle helmet, stereotypical motorcycle helmet with like the visor, but then it was furry and it had two bunny ears popping out.
[4:47] SPEAKER_03: Anyway, if you see that guy, that's Tyler.
[4:50] SPEAKER_03: Alright, moving on.
[4:52] SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I didn't get to see a single episode.
[4:55] SPEAKER_04: Didn't know what was gonna happen.
[4:56] SPEAKER_04: I had to guess.
[4:57] SPEAKER_04: I didn't I couldn't even like sit at the lunch table at school and like commiserate with my friends about what was gonna happen.
[5:03] SPEAKER_04: I just had to- Wait, wait, why didn't you see it?
[5:05] SPEAKER_04: Because it was over the summer.
[5:07] SPEAKER_04: Fury of Aang aired in July, and then this one aired like right after school started.
[5:12] SPEAKER_01: That is pretty agonizing.
[5:13] SPEAKER_01: In September.
[5:14] SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
[5:14] SPEAKER_03: Okay, okay.
[5:15] SPEAKER_03: Months.
[5:15] SPEAKER_03: Got it, got it, got it.
[5:17] SPEAKER_04: But so something about the Secret of the Fire Nation pair of episodes, which is the Serpent's Pants Serpent's Pants.
[5:25] unknown: Wow.
[5:26] SPEAKER_04: No, everyone underestimates the value of a serpent's pant.
[5:30] SPEAKER_04: You know, it's just one long pant leg and you get the serpent in it and you button it up.
[5:35] SPEAKER_03: Okay, what about it?
[5:36] SPEAKER_04: So they were they went around uh in like the week before the episode aired on Nickelodeon, and they were playing it in movie theaters.
[5:46] SPEAKER_04: What?
[5:47] SPEAKER_04: Yeah, they played it in movie theaters, like across America, like in New York, I think Washington, DC, maybe Philadelphia.
[5:53] SPEAKER_04: But then they were pairing it up with the Avatar Trading Card game, because of course there was an Avatar trading card game.
[6:00] SPEAKER_03: Did you have it?
[6:00] SPEAKER_04: No, and I didn't I didn't know of its existence until this morning.
[6:05] SPEAKER_03: Oh good.
[6:06] SPEAKER_04: So they would they aired the episode in these movie theaters, and then maybe before they aired the episode, they went through describing the Avatar trading card game, and maybe they showed them like how it works.
[6:19] SPEAKER_04: But I really want a first edition holographic Zuko now.
[6:23] SPEAKER_03: Wow.
[6:24] SPEAKER_03: Okay.
[6:25] SPEAKER_04: Have you ever played any trading card games?
[6:27] SPEAKER_04: Any Magic the Gathering fans?
[6:28] SPEAKER_04: Any Pokemon trading card game?
[6:30] SPEAKER_04: Any Yu-Gi-Oh! Any.
[6:31] SPEAKER_03: Not a fan.
[6:32] SPEAKER_01: You literally just named every card game I played.
[6:35] SPEAKER_04: What?
[6:35] SPEAKER_03: You've played all those?
[6:36] SPEAKER_04: He's never even played Solitaire, Katie.
[6:39] SPEAKER_04: I have played Solitaire.
[6:40] SPEAKER_04: Okay, tell me about your magic deck.
[6:42] SPEAKER_03: Like on the computer.
[6:43] SPEAKER_01: My magic deck.
[6:43] SPEAKER_01: Oh boy.
[6:44] SPEAKER_01: I yeah, I thought getting the deck with all the death cards, the cards that represented death were really cool.
[6:50] SPEAKER_01: My friend would come in with Darkness.
[6:52] SPEAKER_01: It's true.
[6:54] SPEAKER_01: Fire and water deck, and he would just take me right out.
[6:56] SPEAKER_01: He goes, You're dead anyway.
[6:58] SPEAKER_01: Oh.
[6:59] SPEAKER_01: Oh, good old Mark from Church.
[7:02] SPEAKER_01: Mark from Church.
[7:03] SPEAKER_04: He's like the power of Christ is gonna kill you, you undead fiend.
[7:10] SPEAKER_02: Okay.
[7:11] SPEAKER_01: I just don't know if we're allowed to say last names on this podcast.
[7:14] SPEAKER_01: That's all.
[7:15] SPEAKER_01: No, we can just last names out of this.
[7:17] SPEAKER_01: It's it's irrelevant.
[7:18] SPEAKER_03: Okay, wait.
[7:19] SPEAKER_03: So you played this.
[7:20] SPEAKER_03: Mark from church.
[7:22] SPEAKER_03: Great.
[7:22] SPEAKER_03: Mark from church.
[7:24] SPEAKER_04: It was the priest.
[7:26] SPEAKER_03: Anybody else?
[7:27] SPEAKER_03: I mean, no.
[7:28] SPEAKER_03: What else did you play?
[7:29] SPEAKER_03: No, he was the only person that played with me.
[7:31] SPEAKER_03: What was the other game?
[7:32] SPEAKER_01: I I mentioned Yu-Gi-Oh! and Pokemon trading card game.
[7:35] SPEAKER_01: Oh, come on.
[7:36] SPEAKER_01: You don't know me if you don't if you don't remember that I did Pokemon.
[7:40] SPEAKER_03: No, I do remember Pokemon.
[7:41] SPEAKER_03: Pokemon.
[7:42] SPEAKER_03: Pokemon.
[7:42] SPEAKER_03: That was like Yu-Gi-Oh!
[7:43] SPEAKER_01: Yu-Gi-Oh! I did.
[7:45] SPEAKER_01: Every other little card game that a boy with no self-esteem would play.
[7:48] SPEAKER_01: Okay, well, what did you like?
[7:50] SPEAKER_01: Hey.
[7:51] SPEAKER_01: I did that.
[7:52] SPEAKER_01: That was the dick idea it was.
[7:56] SPEAKER_03: Okay, what was your favorite?
[7:58] SPEAKER_01: I gotta say Yu-Gi-Oh!.
[7:59] SPEAKER_01: Dark Magician.
[8:00] SPEAKER_01: I really appreciated how easy it was to play that game and how much artwork was put into those cards.
[8:06] SPEAKER_01: Like it was like literally right in the middle between uh the elementary Pokemon and just the really sinister looking Magic the Gathering.
[8:16] SPEAKER_04: You just wanted to banish people to the shadow realm, you psychopath.
[8:19] SPEAKER_04: I kinda did.
[8:20] SPEAKER_03: Okay, I have no idea what we're talking about.
[8:22] SPEAKER_01: Not to mention that the villain had the coolest haircut, too.
[8:25] SPEAKER_01: Are you talking about Pegasus or Bakura?
[8:28] SPEAKER_01: In Yu-Gi-Oh! I think it was like the first or the second villain.
[8:31] SPEAKER_01: Basically, he had like the hood or his hair covering like the one eye.
[8:35] SPEAKER_01: I just thought that was the coolest.
[8:39] SPEAKER_01: It was Pegasus.
[8:40] SPEAKER_01: To me Pegasus.
[8:42] SPEAKER_01: Very interesting, very sinister looking villain.
[8:45] SPEAKER_01: You'd just yeah, it'd be terrifying to play poker with that guy.
[8:48] SPEAKER_04: Speaking of sinister looking villains, Azula, anybody, quite sinister.
[8:52] SPEAKER_03: She is not in the Serpent's Pass.
[8:54] SPEAKER_04: Oh, sorry.
[8:54] SPEAKER_04: Okay.
[8:55] SPEAKER_04: Serpent's Pass episode.
[8:57] SPEAKER_04: Spoiler.
[8:58] SPEAKER_03: I uh yeah I really enjoy this episode.
[9:01] SPEAKER_03: Is it because we meet everyone?
[9:03] SPEAKER_03: Like everybody is in this episode.
[9:04] SPEAKER_04: Everybody comes back.
[9:05] SPEAKER_04: It's like Super Smash Brothers Ultimate.
[9:07] SPEAKER_04: Everyone's here.
[9:08] SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
[9:12] SPEAKER_03: Okay.
[9:12] SPEAKER_01: So yeah, no, Serpents Pass, I find out that there's more than one way to cross an ocean.
[9:21] SPEAKER_01: Yeah?
[9:22] SPEAKER_01: So You do?
[9:22] SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
[9:23] SPEAKER_01: No, it felt like when Katara was like moving the water around and Aang was like helping her out.
[9:32] SPEAKER_01: I was that looked like the hard way.
[9:34] SPEAKER_01: In which I came to find out was true.
[9:36] SPEAKER_01: That was the hardest way they could have they could've crossed.
[9:38] SPEAKER_04: Okay, so we meet everybody.
[9:40] SPEAKER_04: Who all shows up, Katie?
[9:42] SPEAKER_03: Well, we see Jet.
[9:44] SPEAKER_04: Oh, what was it like seeing Jet again?
[9:47] SPEAKER_03: You know, I I'm like, does he ever change the little thing is thing in his mouth?
[9:52] SPEAKER_04: Fun fact, I did read this is that he has a twig in his mouth in the original episode, Jet.
[9:59] SPEAKER_04: And then this episode, he's got a little sprig of wheat.
[10:02] SPEAKER_03: Oh.
[10:03] SPEAKER_04: So he's upgraded.
[10:04] SPEAKER_04: He's pretty uh agrarian now.
[10:06] SPEAKER_03: Okay.
[10:07] SPEAKER_03: But again, I mean, is that something that he swaps out, or is he gonna be chewing on the wheat for some wet wheat for quite a while?
[10:14] SPEAKER_04: Troy was like seeing jet for you.
[10:17] SPEAKER_01: Um Yep.
[10:19] SPEAKER_01: Yep.
[10:20] SPEAKER_01: Yep.
[10:21] SPEAKER_01: Yep.
[10:22] SPEAKER_01: No.
[10:22] SPEAKER_01: Um it was nice to see him finally like upgrade from a twig to a what'd you just call it?
[10:27] SPEAKER_01: Wheat is what I call it.
[10:29] SPEAKER_03: You know what wheat is?
[10:30] SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I know what wheat is.
[10:32] SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah.
[10:32] SPEAKER_01: I know what wheat is.
[10:34] SPEAKER_01: And I'm hoping that uh if we keep seeing his mug.
[10:38] SPEAKER_01: If wheat keeps seeing his mug.
[10:39] SPEAKER_01: If we keep seeing his mug, then he'll like change it to like something different next time.
[10:44] SPEAKER_04: Oh, so pretty soon it'll just be like a lily?
[10:46] SPEAKER_04: Yes.
[10:47] SPEAKER_04: Or hydrangea.
[10:49] SPEAKER_01: Or, you know, maybe they'll give him braces.
[10:51] SPEAKER_04: So you are excited to see Jet on the basis of he has upgraded what's in his mouth.
[10:56] SPEAKER_03: Yes.
[10:58] SPEAKER_03: But he was also like trying to, you know, start a new life.
[11:01] SPEAKER_04: Yeah, he's going for second chances.
[11:02] SPEAKER_04: He came from Boston Saint.
[11:04] SPEAKER_04: Also clearly didn't die when Katara like froze him to the tree.
[11:08] SPEAKER_01: Right.
[11:08] SPEAKER_01: What the show has done is they've made heroes and characters that are so likable that Jet is forgettable to me.
[11:18] unknown: Really?
[11:18] SPEAKER_04: He just is.
[11:20] SPEAKER_04: I think Jet's very memorable because he's so paranoid and he's so convicted in his path of righteousness to eradicate the Fire Nation.
[11:29] SPEAKER_04: And it seems like he is ready to turn over a new leaf and to go in a new direction in his life.
[11:36] SPEAKER_04: But it's like at the end of the episode in the drill, when he has the suspicion maybe he's right or not, or maybe he's just still paranoid about Iroh and Zuko being firebenders, it's almost like that new leaf he's beginning to turn over flips back.
[11:50] SPEAKER_04: He's like, wait, firebenders.
[11:52] SPEAKER_03: Mm-hmm.
[11:53] SPEAKER_03: No, but I I could agree with Troy, and that it's like, I don't think Jet's like a when I think about Avatar, I'm not like, oh yeah, Jet.
[12:00] SPEAKER_04: Right.
[12:01] SPEAKER_03: You know.
[12:02] SPEAKER_04: He is kind of a relic of the first season of these uh you know, every episode we kind of meet like a new cast.
[12:09] SPEAKER_04: And Jet and his group are kind of misfits in that way, that they were they don't necessarily feel like they fit in the Avatar universe.
[12:16] SPEAKER_04: I can see that.
[12:17] SPEAKER_03: Who spit on the desk?
[12:18] SPEAKER_03: I don't know.
[12:21] SPEAKER_03: Okay.
[12:22] SPEAKER_03: TMI.
[12:23] SPEAKER_03: You know who is special in this episode?
[12:26] SPEAKER_03: Always happy to see.
[12:28] SPEAKER_03: Cabbages! Cabbage Man.
[12:30] SPEAKER_04: Troy like lit up.
[12:32] SPEAKER_04: I did.
[12:33] SPEAKER_04: But not originally, because I don't think you recognized Cabbage Man at first.
[12:36] SPEAKER_04: Like you weren't- That was a curveball for you.
[12:38] SPEAKER_01: I had my mouth full of sunflower seeds, I was chewing through, and then when I finally when it finally dawned on me who it was, yes, I, like an avid fan, I whooped and I yipped.
[12:48] SPEAKER_01: I whooped and I yipped.
[12:52] SPEAKER_04: Friends, he didn't do any of that.
[12:54] SPEAKER_04: We did kind of cheer after we realized it was Cabbage Man.
[12:58] SPEAKER_04: But it was so fun watching the Paladipus bear like just wreak havoc on his cabbages.
[13:04] SPEAKER_04: I wish we would have provided Troy like a like a bowl of cabbage.
[13:08] SPEAKER_04: Like leading like as a foreshadow.
[13:11] SPEAKER_04: You're gonna need these, Troy.
[13:12] SPEAKER_04: My cabbages.
[13:13] SPEAKER_04: Okay, so those two of the characters we met.
[13:15] SPEAKER_04: Who is the other character that we met, Katie?
[13:17] SPEAKER_03: Suki, who Troy did not recognize.
[13:21] SPEAKER_03: I know it's hard, you know.
[13:22] SPEAKER_01: I'm sorry.
[13:23] SPEAKER_01: I mean, Suki, she is unforgettable, but it just happened to slip past my mind.
[13:29] SPEAKER_01: Do I get the excuse that she did not have her makeup on?
[13:33] SPEAKER_01: Yes.
[13:34] SPEAKER_01: Okay.
[13:34] SPEAKER_01: Well, and we haven't seen her since episode four.
[13:37] SPEAKER_01: Because it wasn't until Sokka brought the Kyoshi Warriors.
[13:41] SPEAKER_01: I was like, Suki, that's Suki.
[13:44] SPEAKER_01: Okay.
[13:45] SPEAKER_01: Boom boom.
[13:46] SPEAKER_01: Another like dawns on me, like, wow, they really did pull the strings, or didn't pull any strings, and they brought all the characters on.
[13:54] SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and it's great because she like comes up and you know is calling them out and Sokka's like, wait, who's this?
[14:00] SPEAKER_01: And I'm just like, another Fire Nation spy.
[14:04] SPEAKER_04: She pulls the mask off her face.
[14:06] SPEAKER_04: It's Admiral Zhou.
[14:08] SPEAKER_04: He's still here.
[14:10] SPEAKER_01: Still kisses him on the cheek.
[14:12] SPEAKER_03: Okay, and so something that happened in this episode is I feel like Toph was MVP.
[14:18] SPEAKER_03: Right.
[14:19] SPEAKER_03: Oh, yeah.
[14:19] SPEAKER_03: But she just, I mean, even starting at the beginning when we meet everybody, um, you know, then we're trying to get our tickets to get on the boat, and then we camped.
[14:28] SPEAKER_04: I don't understand what she gave the ticket lady.
[14:31] SPEAKER_01: She totally had a Bruce Wayne moment where she got them to the next phase with her reputation or her money, and she had a documentation, which I'm pretty sure is like a the most perfect uh passport that they can get back in those days.
[14:46] SPEAKER_01: I know, but what would have been?
[14:48] SPEAKER_01: What's the equivalent?
[14:49] SPEAKER_03: Right, you don't understand because you're a peasant.
[14:51] SPEAKER_03: Oh, it's true.
[14:52] SPEAKER_04: It probably would have been the equivalent of uh the royal family showing their passports to Well, it wasn't even a passport though, it was just like a symbol like it'd be the royal family, like it'd be an obscure member of the royal family you've never heard of walking up and be like, hey, see these crown jewels.
[15:07] SPEAKER_03: Right, but you don't know that that's not a thing.
[15:10] SPEAKER_03: I know.
[15:12] SPEAKER_03: We also know that certain certain people aren't just going showing up to the airports and they're like, oh hey, here's my pass.
[15:19] SPEAKER_01: Like, I mean that's heard that Congress members have that kind of power at their disposal.
[15:24] SPEAKER_04: God, I bet we sound so stupid to some like elite person listening to this.
[15:28] SPEAKER_03: All the elite people, we only have an elite fan base.
[15:30] SPEAKER_01: Well, you know, it'd help they'd uh if they actually educated us on how they work.
[15:34] SPEAKER_04: Yeah, help me into your conspiracies.
[15:37] SPEAKER_04: Come on, guys.
[15:38] SPEAKER_04: Okay, yeah, so Toph shows whatever magic seal she gets, and the lady's like, this is worth four tickets, man.
[15:45] SPEAKER_01: Mm-hmm.
[15:46] SPEAKER_04: Mm-hmm.
[15:46] SPEAKER_03: So there's that.
[15:47] SPEAKER_03: Does Toph have multiple of those?
[15:49] SPEAKER_03: She just have one?
[15:50] SPEAKER_03: I think she just has one pass, and it's like, oh, like if you're in a pickle, here, flash this card.
[15:55] SPEAKER_03: It's your pickle pass.
[15:57] SPEAKER_04: There's also a green.
[15:58] SPEAKER_04: I get that.
[15:59] SPEAKER_04: Okay, so yeah, going off of how Toph is MVP, I mean, she saves their butts no less than four times in this episode, including when she's like, here, let's get on this fairy.
[16:09] SPEAKER_03: Mm-hmm.
[16:10] SPEAKER_04: And then she like saves husband.
[16:12] SPEAKER_04: I don't remember his name.
[16:13] SPEAKER_03: Well, we we have adopted like the the family, that's the husband and the pregnant wife.
[16:20] SPEAKER_03: I guess I don't know they're married, but anyway.
[16:22] SPEAKER_03: And then I guess that there's like an older teenage daughter.
[16:25] SPEAKER_03: I don't know, maybe like a nanny, maybe a sister.
[16:27] SPEAKER_03: Right, somebody else is there.
[16:29] SPEAKER_04: I don't think they're old enough to have an older teenage daughter.
[16:31] SPEAKER_03: Well, you never know.
[16:32] SPEAKER_04: That's true.
[16:33] SPEAKER_04: Okay, so these people show up one other time prior to their appearance in the Serpent's Past.
[16:38] SPEAKER_04: Do you guys remember or have any guesses?
[16:40] SPEAKER_04: Is it foaming at the mouth?
[16:42] SPEAKER_04: I wish.
[16:44] SPEAKER_04: Woo! They're actually they're actually from Kyoshi Island.
[16:46] SPEAKER_04: I was gonna say that.
[16:47] SPEAKER_04: That was the husband.
[16:49] SPEAKER_03: And Suki was like, hey guys.
[16:53] SPEAKER_04: Just wait till season three when foam with the mouth guy joins, and we find out he's like a foam bender.
[17:01] SPEAKER_03: Woo! Woo!
[17:02] unknown: Woo!
[17:03] SPEAKER_04: Okay, so these This family shows up once before in Zuko Alone, when Zuko is like roaming the wastelands.
[17:11] SPEAKER_04: He sees like that group all by themselves who's like eating, and they like holds his stomach, and then he sees that she's pregnant, and he's like, Oh, I'm gonna keep going.
[17:20] SPEAKER_03: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
[17:21] SPEAKER_04: So that's when they show up before.
[17:23] SPEAKER_04: Okay, and then what else does Toph do to save the day?
[17:26] SPEAKER_04: She saves Sokka, who's about to die one other time.
[17:29] SPEAKER_04: Because he pushes Suki out of the way, and then Toph saves them again when they're going uh the uh the underwater path with the serpent's pass.
[17:38] SPEAKER_04: Toph raises them back up.
[17:40] SPEAKER_04: She's everywhere.
[17:42] SPEAKER_03: I know.
[17:43] SPEAKER_03: And then can the favor be returned when she like has to go in the water, is like drowning, can't swim.
[17:49] SPEAKER_04: Well, you brought up a good point.
[17:51] SPEAKER_04: Like that when Toph was trying to navigate over like ice bridge, and Sokka's just like coaching her through, like Right.
[17:57] SPEAKER_03: Like that she's sticking on her little dirt island or like piece of rock uh doesn't want to go on the ice because she can't see, and Sokka's like, oh, just like follow my voice, blah blah blah.
[18:09] SPEAKER_03: It's like, why didn't he just walk out on the ice?
[18:12] SPEAKER_04: It's seemed pretty uncharacteristic of Sokka, but I think it was just to service the joke of Suki jumping into the water.
[18:20] SPEAKER_03: Was that a joke?
[18:21] SPEAKER_03: Well, it turns into a joke.
[18:23] SPEAKER_04: Okay, the the the character moment of showing like how awesome Suki is and how brave and courageous she is, like when that ice bridge is broken.
[18:31] SPEAKER_04: She doesn't hesitate.
[18:32] SPEAKER_04: Sokka's like, wait, tough, I'm gonna come and save you.
[18:35] SPEAKER_04: Because Sokka needs to orate everything he's doing.
[18:38] SPEAKER_01: So as soon as we see Sokka about to take off his boot and oh yeah, he's gonna he's gonna get into his like underwear.
[18:45] SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
[18:46] SPEAKER_01: As he's saying, like, I'm gonna come save you, it totally brings me back to when I was trained to be a lifeguard back in 2012.
[18:55] SPEAKER_01: They show us a video and they say, if you see somebody in the deep end drowning, you blow your whistle, you point at that person, you stand up, you safely take off your slippers, safely take off your shirt, and then you safely climb down from the lifeguard stand, grab your tube, and jump into the water.
[19:13] SPEAKER_03: Wow.
[19:13] SPEAKER_01: That whole sequence would probably take a person about 10 seconds if they were to do it safely.
[19:18] SPEAKER_01: But most people don't have ten seconds.
[19:20] SPEAKER_01: Like they need to be caught now.
[19:22] SPEAKER_01: So that's what that Sokka moment brought me back to.
[19:24] SPEAKER_01: So would you be Sokka or would you be Suki?
[19:27] SPEAKER_01: Uh I would be Suki.
[19:29] SPEAKER_01: It's sad how I how I actually had to think about that.
[19:32] SPEAKER_03: Slippers on.
[19:33] SPEAKER_04: No, Suki goes in with like so much equipment.
[19:35] SPEAKER_04: She's got those robes, probably her fans.
[19:38] SPEAKER_03: My is probably weighing her down, too.
[19:40] SPEAKER_04: And she got there so fast.
[19:42] SPEAKER_04: And then you get like the best line of that whole episode where Toph kisses Suki, and you're like, actually, it's me.
[19:48] SPEAKER_03: And then, I mean, we feel like Toph definitely has a crush on Sokka.
[19:53] SPEAKER_04: Everybody has a crush on Sokka, including Ty Lee in the next episode.
[19:58] SPEAKER_04: Oh my god.
[19:58] SPEAKER_03: I think Sokka Sokka has a crush on Sokka.
[20:02] SPEAKER_04: I have a crush on Sokka.
[20:03] SPEAKER_04: Who wouldn't have a crush on Sokka?
[20:05] SPEAKER_03: Me.
[20:05] SPEAKER_04: Oh, I'm kinda like Sokka.
[20:07] SPEAKER_04: Can't bend, got some ideas.
[20:09] SPEAKER_01: Don't look at me.
[20:09] SPEAKER_01: I'm totally crushing on Nairo.
[20:11] SPEAKER_04: I mean, that's the real one we should be crushing on.
[20:14] SPEAKER_04: That's the better crush.
[20:15] SPEAKER_04: Okay.
[20:16] SPEAKER_04: So Sokka and Suki's storyline in this episode.
[20:19] SPEAKER_04: What did you think about Sokka being so overprotective of Suki?
[20:23] SPEAKER_03: Fine.
[20:24] SPEAKER_03: I'll go.
[20:24] SPEAKER_03: Yes.
[20:25] SPEAKER_04: As a woman, Katie.
[20:26] SPEAKER_04: I mean, how is that for you to watch Sokka who is he puts on the facade that he's like this big, strong, tough guy.
[20:33] SPEAKER_04: And we've already addressed that Suki can take care of herself.
[20:36] SPEAKER_04: Even in the first episode that she's introduced to.
[20:38] SPEAKER_04: Like Sokka tries to Sokka like wants to protect Suki for some reason.
[20:43] SPEAKER_03: Well, it took me a split second because I was like, yeah, what's happening here?
[20:46] SPEAKER_03: Because I thought he was just kind of uncomfortable.
[20:48] SPEAKER_03: Because he was being he was excited to see her, but kind of distant.
[20:52] SPEAKER_03: You know, when she said she was coming along, you know, he was kind of like, Oh, yeah, that's fine.
[20:57] SPEAKER_03: And but he's not really super jazzed about it.
[21:00] SPEAKER_03: And she's like, Oh, I thought you'd want me to go.
[21:02] SPEAKER_03: So really, he obviously is still grieving from losing Moon Girl.
[21:11] SPEAKER_03: UA.
[21:12] SPEAKER_03: UA.
[21:13] SPEAKER_03: And yeah, I mean, and I don't know if that's a really a great reason to be overprotective.
[21:17] SPEAKER_03: But I mean, I do think that that's a thing.
[21:18] SPEAKER_03: I think that's a thing that people go through.
[21:20] SPEAKER_03: It's like, oh, I've lost somebody, and then so you're like overcompensating.
[21:23] SPEAKER_03: And so yeah, I think Sokka still gotta work it out and work through those feelings.
[21:28] SPEAKER_03: And then I mean, yeah, I think that Suki, you know, obviously has no idea what he's been through and all the trauma that he's experienced and just doesn't know what's really going on with him, and he's not really telling her.
[21:41] SPEAKER_04: I thought it was interesting that Sokka didn't just confide directly in Suki and like tell her the whole story.
[21:47] SPEAKER_04: I did think it was a really beautiful moment when they're sitting on that plateau and the clouds kind of move away, and then you see Sokka like get engulfed in the moonlight, and so he's getting this like quiet moment.
[22:00] SPEAKER_04: To kind of think about it.
[22:01] SPEAKER_04: And maybe he feels guilty about letting himself like feel for Suki because he wants to hold on to the UE.
[22:08] SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah.
[22:09] SPEAKER_03: No, I definitely pick on pick up on that, that it's he doesn't feel like he can move on, like he shouldn't, like that that would be like cheating on Yue and like just kind of not like, yeah, it's not okay for him to move on.
[22:22] SPEAKER_03: Right.
[22:22] SPEAKER_03: Because like that would mean that he is like forgetting her or something.
[22:25] SPEAKER_04: And like not not honoring her memory, maybe.
[22:29] SPEAKER_04: No, I thought it was a really beautiful moment.
[22:30] SPEAKER_04: And when Suki goes in for the kiss with Sokka and he's like thinking about it, did you notice that you can see the moon like between them?
[22:39] SPEAKER_04: That was a pretty clever shot.
[22:41] SPEAKER_04: And it just shows that that's kind of what is keeping Sokka what's holding him back right now with Suki.
[22:47] SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that was uh as soon as that scene stopped, it it it hit me.
[22:51] SPEAKER_01: I was like, I just thought, oh yeah, the moon's right there.
[22:54] SPEAKER_01: Like I could see how Sokka was like, no, this is just wrong on my part.
[22:59] SPEAKER_01: I'm sorry, you have nothing to do with it.
[23:00] SPEAKER_01: It's just wrong.
[23:01] SPEAKER_01: And he had to ruin the moment.
[23:03] SPEAKER_01: But this show is really good at that.
[23:05] SPEAKER_01: That it's really good at just stopping the kiss right before it happens.
[23:10] SPEAKER_04: Well, and it's also they're good at putting a lot of meaning and depth into seemingly really small scenes, like just the fact that Sokka's like, no, no, I shouldn't kiss you.
[23:21] SPEAKER_04: But it's layered on the fact that with the art direction and just the direction in general, like you get the moon, you get them bathed in moonlight, you see the moon, it just kind of looms over that whole scene.
[23:33] SPEAKER_04: And I like the fact that Sokka like holds back from Suki in a way, because he really hasn't grieved Yue's loss.
[23:40] SPEAKER_04: He mentions it in the swamp early on in the season, but he hasn't really taken the time.
[23:45] SPEAKER_04: So maybe he's like taking that moment to kind of like move on and let not let go, but like let go of this idea that he can't like find happiness or be happy.
[23:56] SPEAKER_03: Well, hopefully also that's going into that he cares too much about Suki to just kind of jump in when his brain's kind of not right and be like, hold on, let me fix my my heart and kind of get that figured out before you know committing to her.
[24:10] SPEAKER_03: But that was also piggybacking off of Katara and Aang's interaction, you know, that was kind of heavy about Appa who's missing still, and Aang's trying to play it cool, not doing that great of a job.
[24:26] SPEAKER_04: There's definitely a lot of emotions in in that that night.
[24:30] SPEAKER_04: And it's interesting, yeah, how you bring up that they kind of parallel each other in some way.
[24:34] SPEAKER_04: Like not being able to work through feelings that you you should be to move on and to be healthy.
[24:40] SPEAKER_03: Right.
[24:40] SPEAKER_03: I mean it's like two different examples of just not dealing with with loss.
[24:45] SPEAKER_03: With loss, yeah.
[24:46] SPEAKER_04: And with Aang, he kind of retreats inside himself, which has been kind of uncharacteristic for Aang.
[24:52] SPEAKER_04: Like he becomes so far removed from Katara, like kind of emotionless.
[24:56] SPEAKER_03: Right.
[24:57] SPEAKER_03: I think sometimes where it's like, no, it's like that I overreacted.
[25:00] SPEAKER_03: So my solution is just to not feel anything or to not show emotion, and that like I'm not gonna be triggered because I'm gonna just be a stone.
[25:10] SPEAKER_04: I feel like that's happened to me.
[25:11] SPEAKER_04: Like if I like overreact or do something, and it's like, wait, I'm gonna overcorrect now.
[25:15] SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna do the exact opposite uh direction, and now I'm going to become a lifeless automaton.
[25:23] SPEAKER_03: But with that, you know, Katara was able to again step up and be like, okay, everybody, now I'm leading the charge and get in line.
[25:34] SPEAKER_03: We're gonna I'm gonna, you know, bend some water, and here we go.
[25:38] SPEAKER_04: So before that, though, kind of going back, sorry, going back to to Aang, when they go up to the serpent's path and it says like abandon all hope, and everyone's like, Oh no.
[25:48] SPEAKER_04: So there's a Buddhist teaching or a philosophy to abandon hope, and it's not necessarily like a negative thing, like don't have hope, it's mostly this belief to to not put all that energy into some positive outcome that might happen in the future that you don't really have control over, but to just take charge of the present moment and be present.
[26:08] SPEAKER_04: And it was interesting that we finally hear Aang for the first time in a while kind of reflect back on his kind of like air nomad training.
[26:16] SPEAKER_04: And so we don't really know much about all of the fundamental trainings of like air nomad philosophy at this point, but it's interesting to see some more parallels with Buddhism there.
[26:25] SPEAKER_03: And I think that's a really great teaching anyway, of being present in a moment.
[26:30] SPEAKER_03: And I just think that's hard for anybody, you know, and even even you think about meditation and your your mind's kind of wandering and you're thinking about what you have to do or what's going on or whatever.
[26:42] SPEAKER_03: It's like to just be be present.
[26:45] SPEAKER_04: Okay, so then, like you were saying, Katara takes charge.
[26:49] SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
[26:49] SPEAKER_03: Recently, Katara's really stepping up, and I and I like that because I feel like she already she knows she needs to lead the group in certain ways.
[26:59] SPEAKER_03: And especially like you're really f still feeling that absence of APA.
[27:04] SPEAKER_03: I know, and I kind of forgot that we had like lost him in the last episode.
[27:08] SPEAKER_03: So it's like, oh no.
[27:10] SPEAKER_03: You gotta go on foot.
[27:12] SPEAKER_04: Oh gosh.
[27:13] SPEAKER_04: So talking about Katara taking charge in certain situations, I like and appreciate that each of our kind of main characters have different leadership styles and they're all able to kind of take charge when the time comes.
[27:24] SPEAKER_04: And so Katara, I really like that nobody had to like ask the girl or tell the girl because she has the skills to do something.
[27:32] SPEAKER_04: Katara just jumped in because she knew that she was gonna just take charge of that situation.
[27:37] SPEAKER_04: Then there was no conference, there was no like, well, shouldn't Aang do it because he's the avatar?
[27:43] SPEAKER_04: And so I really appreciate that just about the writing in the world that we've created here where emotions are free to be expressed and girl power is definitely a strong part.
[27:54] SPEAKER_04: This episode I think shows off girl power really, really well.
[27:59] SPEAKER_03: Yeah, no, and it was very action-packed, and I just feel like it was see a need, fill a need, Troy.
[28:06] SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
[28:07] SPEAKER_01: And um, they also made it an excellent point when the serpent comes out of the water and scares everybody, and Sokka goes, turns the Suki, she go and he goes, he goes, Don't you know how to control all these things?
[28:21] SPEAKER_01: You guys live next to a lake.
[28:22] SPEAKER_01: And she goes, just because we're apart from that region doesn't mean we know how to control the the beast in the water.
[28:28] SPEAKER_01: And I just thought was that was an excellent point, just because somebody's from someplace that's that's known for its like you wouldn't go down to Louisiana and expect everybody on that down there to know how to make an alligator behave.
[28:42] SPEAKER_04: I would disagree.
[28:43] SPEAKER_04: I bet that is fundamental training uh K through twelve.
[28:46] SPEAKER_04: I think it's uh I think that is a fundamental part of their public education.
[28:50] SPEAKER_03: That's all they know how to do.
[28:53] SPEAKER_04: I think this is not the first time we've talked about this the deep south.
[28:58] SPEAKER_03: Alligators.
[28:59] SPEAKER_03: Okay.
[29:00] SPEAKER_03: Let's move on.
[29:01] SPEAKER_04: But I also like that Sokka like wanted to like ask Suki about it.
[29:04] SPEAKER_01: He's like, oh, wait, you got this, right?
[29:06] SPEAKER_01: Like, you're good.
[29:07] SPEAKER_01: It's like somebody from Texas seeing like a big black or brown bear in Oregon and turn to the Oregonian and be like, hey, you guys got plenty of these in your state.
[29:16] SPEAKER_04: You know how they work.
[29:17] SPEAKER_04: It's almost like if you're in Canada and you see a moose and you walk up to a random Canadian, you're like, hey, you know what to do with this moose, right?
[29:22] SPEAKER_04: You just like sing to it or go A or give it hospitality.
[29:25] SPEAKER_04: Or it's like if you're in Japan and all of a sudden there's a giant lizard that comes out of the ground and it starts breathing like crazy uh nuclear radiation at the buildings.
[29:34] SPEAKER_04: You're like, oh, hey, uh Nyoki, you know what to do in this situation, right?
[29:38] SPEAKER_04: And you're like, no, that's not how it works, okay?
[29:41] SPEAKER_04: Just because I'm from the Oregon coast doesn't mean I know how to talk to salmon, okay?
[29:45] SPEAKER_04: Salmon are delicious, okay?
[29:48] SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
[29:49] SPEAKER_03: Yeah, cool rant, guys.
[29:52] SPEAKER_04: Okay, so the serpent, the serpent in this episode of The Serpent's Bass, it was actually used once before uh in the unaired pilot of Avatar.
[30:02] SPEAKER_04: And so the team, Mike and Brian, were like, oh, we really like this design.
[30:05] SPEAKER_04: We don't know what to do with it, and so they finally put it in here.
[30:09] SPEAKER_03: I feel like we've seen a few serpents in this.
[30:12] SPEAKER_04: There's a lot of crazy, scary monsters in the world.
[30:14] SPEAKER_01: The serpent almost reminds me of the uh dragon from uh Mortal Kombat, too.
[30:20] SPEAKER_04: I don't know what you're talking about.
[30:21] SPEAKER_04: Oh, like the picture?
[30:23] SPEAKER_04: Like the the symbol?
[30:24] SPEAKER_01: That's what I kept thinking of every time I saw it.
[30:26] SPEAKER_03: Troy's like Mortal Kombat.
[30:29] SPEAKER_04: Okay, and so we have Jet trying to recruit Zuko also.
[30:33] SPEAKER_03: And then Which is kind of like a sweet love story.
[30:36] SPEAKER_03: Like they go and steal from the steal from the rich.
[30:39] SPEAKER_03: Yeah, get the the better food that's not rotten.
[30:42] SPEAKER_04: Are you chipping Zuko and Jet?
[30:45] SPEAKER_03: Yeah, there's like this moment that Zuko, you know, has his little knives out and he's like They're not knives, they're swords! Whatever.
[30:52] SPEAKER_03: And and then like Jet like looks over and it's kind of you know, it's just a look.
[30:59] SPEAKER_04: Takes the weed out, he's like, mmm.
[31:02] SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
[31:02] SPEAKER_01: He's my kind of guy.
[31:03] SPEAKER_01: There's definitely a moment between the two boys.
[31:06] SPEAKER_04: I think it's more like Jet towards Zuko.
[31:09] SPEAKER_03: I think Zuko's not into anybody.
[31:11] SPEAKER_04: No.
[31:11] SPEAKER_04: Yeah, Zuko's pretty asexual.
[31:14] SPEAKER_04: Okay, so they uh steal everything, but you also get this other really nice moment, speaking of girl power, where Iroh mistakens Smellerby for a boy, and then Smellerby like goes off in a huff, and Longshot follows.
[31:29] SPEAKER_03: And I really Longshot always given the great advice.
[31:33] SPEAKER_03: He gives the best advice.
[31:35] SPEAKER_04: I really appreciated that the writers took the time to give Smellerby a moment to kind of come to terms with her with herself and her confidence, and that it doesn't matter what other people think.
[31:47] SPEAKER_04: And I think it was a very progressive moment because you have today, like you have all these people all over the spectrum of gender and sexuality, and I think it was pretty progressive in 2006 to have this character who Smellerby comes off kind of non-binary, and so you kind of have this character who doesn't necessarily conform to anything that we necessarily think of.
[32:08] SPEAKER_04: And so I think it was really great that she's like, hey, no, no, it's fine, it's fine that he mistaked me for a boy.
[32:12] SPEAKER_04: I just have to be who I am, and that's what I'm gonna do.
[32:15] SPEAKER_01: It was weird for me just because the way Smellerby got offended, it's like she was acting like people call her a boy on a daily basis.
[32:22] SPEAKER_01: I'm like, that was you don't know.
[32:24] SPEAKER_01: That was the first time I've ever heard anybody call her a boy.
[32:27] SPEAKER_01: It's I mean, she didn't say like, like, this happens almost every day.
[32:32] SPEAKER_01: No, it's just more like I just have to accept who I am no matter what else anybody else thinks of me.
[32:36] SPEAKER_01: I'm like, who else said anything?
[32:38] SPEAKER_04: We only get one other episode of Smeller Bee, and Smeller B doesn't really factor into Jet the episode.
[32:43] SPEAKER_01: Right, so that's what kind of like it was sort of like a clip hanger for me.
[32:47] SPEAKER_01: It was just like, well, that was I don't know.
[32:49] SPEAKER_03: You want the Smeller Bee sequel?
[32:51] SPEAKER_01: I do want a Smeller Bee sequel.
[32:53] SPEAKER_04: Where's the rest of the Freedom Fighters?
[32:54] SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
[32:55] SPEAKER_01: They didn't come.
[32:56] SPEAKER_01: What the the big fellow, what's his name?
[32:59] SPEAKER_04: Pip Squeak.
[33:00] SPEAKER_04: Pip Squeak.
[33:01] SPEAKER_04: You think my name is funny?
[33:04] SPEAKER_04: Or the Duke.
[33:06] SPEAKER_03: Okay, wait, wait.
[33:08] SPEAKER_03: Going back to Smeller Bee.
[33:10] SPEAKER_03: I think it just goes back to you know, you don't know someone's story and you don't know what yeah, what someone has has gone through and what's gonna be a trigger for them.
[33:21] SPEAKER_03: Yes.
[33:22] SPEAKER_03: And so yeah, I mean they do think it was nice for them to kind of allow her to have a moment.
[33:27] SPEAKER_04: What do we think of Iroh having that moment, like reflecting on the fact he's going back to Bossingse?
[33:34] SPEAKER_03: As a tourist.
[33:38] SPEAKER_03: I'm sure it's kind of bringing up a little bit of like anxiety or like this weird semi-PTSD.
[33:45] SPEAKER_04: I think they are intentionally letting Iroh kind of play it cool and make him pretty jokey in these episodes.
[33:50] SPEAKER_04: But it's literally where he had his greatest military defeat, where he couldn't like end the siege of 600 days, and it's where his son Lutan was killed.
[34:01] SPEAKER_03: Yeah, so it'll be interesting moving forward.
[34:04] SPEAKER_04: Uh I really liked the moment where they were like, Oh, you've been to Bossing Se before, and Iroh's pretty Yeah, like as a different man and Yeah, when he says, Yeah, I've been there before once before, but I was a di I was a different man.
[34:16] SPEAKER_04: And I really liked that point, and it was really powerful for me.
[34:20] unknown: Yeah.
[34:20] SPEAKER_03: Okay, Troy, how was this episode for you?
[34:23] SPEAKER_01: It was good.
[34:23] SPEAKER_01: I liked the pace, I liked the characters.
[34:26] SPEAKER_01: There was a couple of plot holes, but other than that, it was a really good one.
[34:29] SPEAKER_01: What was the plot hole?
[34:31] SPEAKER_01: Smellerby for one.
[34:32] SPEAKER_01: That's not a plot hole!
[34:33] SPEAKER_04: To me it is the fact that you don't you don't.
[34:36] SPEAKER_01: To all my to all of our listeners that had the same thing going on as Smellerby, I am sorry if I offended you.
[34:42] SPEAKER_01: It just they could have given me a little more indication.
[34:45] SPEAKER_01: For somebody who who's never seen this show before, it was just, I don't know, for me it was just a slight overreaction just because Iroh meant it so innocently that it was a strange name for a young man.
[34:58] SPEAKER_01: But then Smellerby's like, I'm not a boy, I'm a I'm a girl.
[35:03] SPEAKER_04: But you don't like like Katie said, you don't know what her past is, and you don't because you don't you don't need in strong writing, you don't need the characters to spell out every single motivation or every single thing that they've that's happened to them.
[35:15] SPEAKER_04: Right.
[35:16] SPEAKER_04: They can they can react organically to a situation, and that's an example of showing, not telling in storytelling.
[35:22] SPEAKER_01: Unfortunately, I'm one of those viewers who I need the characters to spell everything out for me just so I understand everything that's going on.
[35:29] SPEAKER_03: It just left you wanting more.
[35:30] SPEAKER_01: It just left me wanting more.
[35:32] SPEAKER_01: Like I do want to creep into Smellerby's past, like how many people can't.
[35:36] SPEAKER_01: I can creep into Smellerby's past.
[35:39] SPEAKER_01: Sure.
[35:40] SPEAKER_04: Were there other plot holes for you in this episode?
[35:43] SPEAKER_01: There was like no flashback, no past scenes of Iroh and at Bog Singsei, like Bossing Sei.
[35:50] SPEAKER_01: Sorry, Boss Singsei.
[35:52] SPEAKER_01: Of him leading the charge or him and his more youthful years.
[35:56] SPEAKER_04: But again, that's not a plot hole.
[35:57] SPEAKER_04: That's just you wanting to have a little bit more.
[36:00] SPEAKER_04: It left you wanting more, it's not necessarily a plot hole.
[36:02] SPEAKER_01: So, yeah, those are my two plot holes.
[36:05] SPEAKER_04: Alright, Troy.
[36:06] SPEAKER_03: Okay.
[36:07] SPEAKER_04: So we lead into this beautiful scene.
[36:09] SPEAKER_04: Aang takes off to find Appa.
[36:11] SPEAKER_04: You get one of my favorite shots of the whole series where the music's soaring and Aang is flying up the side of the outer wall of Bossing Sei, and you get this scene where like the clouds are are present, and you see Aang flying, flying vertically up.
[36:26] SPEAKER_03: Wait, wait, wait.
[36:27] SPEAKER_03: Are we moving on to the drill?
[36:29] SPEAKER_04: Or do you want to talk about the the the birth?
[36:31] SPEAKER_03: Yeah, the end of the Serpent's Pass where Katara helps deliver a baby and then taking charge.
[36:40] SPEAKER_03: And then everybody's really moved, but like Aang's like crying, you know.
[36:44] SPEAKER_01: Sokka passes out.
[36:46] SPEAKER_03: Right.
[36:47] SPEAKER_03: Okay, wait, but going back to Aang, you know, where he was able to like kind of release all this like tension he's been feeling and just kind of being able to come to terms with really missing Appa and just anyway.
[37:02] SPEAKER_04: So hopefully he's gonna be a little more So did you believe that for Aang's character seeing a newborn baby was enough to like kind of break give him a breakthrough?
[37:13] SPEAKER_03: I think it was enough of a moment to give him a semi-release, like, oh, this is like a beautiful moment, and there's more going on in the world besides me like missing my my bison.
[37:26] SPEAKER_03: Right, and somebody something that he really cares about and this thing that he loves and maybe he had APA when he was a pup.
[37:34] SPEAKER_03: Anyway.
[37:34] SPEAKER_04: No, I love I loved that Aang had his release, and both he and Katara got to share their hug, and Aang was able to.
[37:40] SPEAKER_04: I love that Aang expresses himself, and I love that he is an emotionally mature character, being 12, 112, and that he's able to express himself and kind of discuss what's going on in his heart in a healthy way to Katara.
[37:54] SPEAKER_04: And I really appreciated that he talks about like what Appa means to him and also reminded him what Katara means to Aang.
[38:02] SPEAKER_04: And he doesn't say it in a romantic way necessarily, but it's just like you've become really important to me, like Appa is, and I want to hold you close to me.
[38:12] SPEAKER_01: Alright, moving on.
[38:13] SPEAKER_01: Well, I just want to add one more thing.
[38:15] SPEAKER_01: One more plot hole?
[38:16] SPEAKER_01: Yeah, no, except this one is not a plot hole, finally.
[38:20] SPEAKER_01: It was sort of like a spoiler alert when the camera decided to The camera didn't decide to do anything.
[38:26] SPEAKER_01: When they were showing the baby, and then they show Katara with thing right behind her.
[38:31] SPEAKER_01: I'm like, well, there goes all my predictions.
[38:34] SPEAKER_03: What do you mean?
[38:35] SPEAKER_01: Oh, it I was like, I was like, well, so those two are officially shipped and they don't even know it.
[38:40] SPEAKER_04: Because they looked at a baby together?
[38:42] SPEAKER_04: Yep.
[38:42] SPEAKER_04: To me that was tough.
[38:43] SPEAKER_04: Top and Sokka looked at a baby together.
[38:45] SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I know that was beyond foreshadowing.
[38:47] SPEAKER_04: You and you and me looked at that baby together.
[38:49] SPEAKER_01: You don't even know yet.
[38:51] SPEAKER_04: So we're shipping Troy and Jordan.
[38:52] SPEAKER_04: So anybody listening, if you are with a another person and you see a newborn baby, before you get it.
[38:58] SPEAKER_03: Troy is gonna ship you.
[39:00] SPEAKER_04: You are on a destined path to be together.
[39:03] SPEAKER_04: So watch out.
[39:04] SPEAKER_04: Watch out for those babies.
[39:05] SPEAKER_01: So we see the drill.
[39:07] SPEAKER_01: Oh, the drill.
[39:08] SPEAKER_01: The episode we were kept hidden last week.
[39:11] SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I wouldn't tell Troy what the title was because as it was packaged as the secret of the Fire Nation, if I was like, oh, the second episode's called the drill, that kind of implies that maybe that was the secret.
[39:22] SPEAKER_01: Spoiler alert.
[39:22] SPEAKER_01: I like spoilers.
[39:23] SPEAKER_01: So since I went home last week, I decided to look at the rest of the episodes for this season.
[39:27] SPEAKER_01: I was like, what episode was secret?
[39:30] SPEAKER_04: You looked up the t episode titles for every episode of this.
[39:33] SPEAKER_01: I couldn't figure it out.
[39:34] SPEAKER_01: I can't even remember the names of the rest of the episodes, but I was like, I was like, what is he talking about?
[39:39] SPEAKER_03: Oh my god.
[39:40] SPEAKER_03: Okay.
[39:41] SPEAKER_03: Troy! No, this is so Troy.
[39:43] SPEAKER_03: Troy's like, I really want to see this movie, but then I watched all the trailers, and so when I saw the movie, I didn't really like it because I'd already known everything from the trailer.
[39:51] SPEAKER_03: Or he wanted to see the movie, but he just looked up the spoilers and the synopsis.
[39:57] SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and that was it.
[39:58] SPEAKER_04: Like he didn't watch Avengers Endgame for over a year.
[40:02] SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
[40:03] SPEAKER_03: But he read about it.
[40:04] SPEAKER_03: He knew all the twists.
[40:06] SPEAKER_04: He knew about Fat Thor.
[40:07] SPEAKER_04: He knew about Steve picking up Mjolner.
[40:10] SPEAKER_04: He knew about Tony dying.
[40:11] SPEAKER_04: You're sick, Troy.
[40:13] SPEAKER_04: That's how you say it?
[40:14] SPEAKER_04: What?
[40:14] SPEAKER_04: Mjolner?
[40:15] SPEAKER_04: How do you pronounce it?
[40:16] SPEAKER_04: Majolnir?
[40:17] SPEAKER_04: Meow meow.
[40:17] SPEAKER_04: No, meow meow.
[40:19] SPEAKER_04: Good one.
[40:20] SPEAKER_03: Okay.
[40:21] SPEAKER_03: Oh.
[40:22] SPEAKER_04: I am so disturbed right now.
[40:24] SPEAKER_03: So yeah, you know how it ends, Troy?
[40:26] SPEAKER_04: Uh no.
[40:27] SPEAKER_01: Hmm.
[40:28] SPEAKER_04: There are spoilers in episode titles, my friend.
[40:30] SPEAKER_01: So just stop.
[40:31] SPEAKER_04: He might have been, but I I was like, huh, okay.
[40:34] SPEAKER_04: He's like, City of Walls and Secrets.
[40:36] SPEAKER_04: What does that mean?
[40:37] SPEAKER_04: Yeah, playing it cool.
[40:38] SPEAKER_01: Yes.
[40:38] SPEAKER_01: And then it was like Secrets of the Fire Nation.
[40:41] SPEAKER_01: I was like, I was like, hey, that sounds familiar.
[40:42] SPEAKER_03: What's the secret?
[40:44] SPEAKER_03: Is it time?
[40:45] SPEAKER_03: Time and oregano?
[40:47] SPEAKER_03: Aang is flying up the wall.
[40:49] SPEAKER_03: He is gonna go rescue Appa.
[40:51] SPEAKER_03: He doesn't.
[40:52] SPEAKER_03: He makes it to the other side to see a drill.
[40:58] SPEAKER_01: And so when I saw that drill, I thought that was.
[41:02] SPEAKER_01: I thought that was a puddle.
[41:03] SPEAKER_04: What's the backstory of the drill?
[41:05] SPEAKER_04: Where did it come from?
[41:07] SPEAKER_01: Built it.
[41:07] SPEAKER_03: Secret fire.
[41:08] SPEAKER_01: How did they secret fire?
[41:11] SPEAKER_01: They built it in the secret tunnel.
[41:12] SPEAKER_01: But I thought that was Boss Tingse itself.
[41:16] SPEAKER_01: Just nothing but desert in a big, big drill.
[41:19] SPEAKER_01: I was like, well, that's disappointing.
[41:21] SPEAKER_04: Boss Singsei's destroyed, you guys.
[41:23] SPEAKER_04: Turn around.
[41:25] SPEAKER_04: Well, that's pretty funny.
[41:26] SPEAKER_04: Because you don't, I guess you don't really know.
[41:27] SPEAKER_04: If you're not like really paying attention to which angle.
[41:29] SPEAKER_01: I was like, first Omashu, now they destroyed Boss Singsei.
[41:32] SPEAKER_01: Like, is there any salvation city in this series?
[41:35] SPEAKER_04: Boss Singsei is the largest metropolis in the Avatar world, and it is not a desert or a wasteland.
[41:40] SPEAKER_04: On the outside it is.
[41:42] SPEAKER_04: It sure is.
[41:43] SPEAKER_04: Yes, it is.
[41:44] SPEAKER_04: So the we we get to we technically are almost to Ba Singsei.
[41:49] SPEAKER_04: Uh, and it draws a lot of inspiration from China, obviously, and uh Beijing.
[41:54] SPEAKER_04: They take some inspiration from that, and also the Great Wall, which this is supposed to be about.
[42:00] SPEAKER_04: So apparently the Great Wall of China in ancient times, like the people who guarded the wall, like they lived there.
[42:06] SPEAKER_03: Hmm.
[42:06] SPEAKER_04: Which is interesting.
[42:07] SPEAKER_04: Well it's big enough.
[42:08] SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I mean, I guess that makes sense.
[42:09] SPEAKER_03: Like it's like, well, this is your job.
[42:11] SPEAKER_04: Now all of China knows you're here.
[42:14] SPEAKER_03: Okay, Mulan.
[42:15] SPEAKER_03: Perfect.
[42:16] SPEAKER_04: That's a great opening.
[42:17] SPEAKER_04: Oh man, we should watch Mulan now.
[42:19] SPEAKER_03: Okay.
[42:20] SPEAKER_04: I'm down.
[42:21] SPEAKER_03: The drill.
[42:22] SPEAKER_03: So we see it, and then it like you go you go inside the drill to reveal the ladies like the bad girls, and there's a sweet red like mood lighting.
[42:34] SPEAKER_04: Yeah, because they're Fire Nation.
[42:35] SPEAKER_04: It's gotta be red.
[42:36] SPEAKER_03: I just feel like it was a little more moody than normal.
[42:39] SPEAKER_04: Oh, there was definitely a vibe.
[42:41] SPEAKER_04: But I I'm curious if maybe they're using the red light so it didn't affect like your your vision.
[42:46] SPEAKER_04: I think when they went outside.
[42:48] SPEAKER_04: Like their their night vision wouldn't be compromised.
[42:50] SPEAKER_01: Don't they use different like those those kind of lights like in submarines when they're submerged?
[42:56] SPEAKER_04: Oh, maybe.
[42:57] SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
[42:57] SPEAKER_01: I mean in every Navy movie I've seen, which is not a whole lot.
[43:01] SPEAKER_04: The Hunt for Red October.
[43:03] SPEAKER_01: Yes.
[43:03] SPEAKER_01: Never saw that movie.
[43:05] SPEAKER_01: But you know, it was in a submarine.
[43:07] SPEAKER_01: And then there was the uh oh, it was like a three-hour, four-hour long submarine that came out like way in the 70s.
[43:15] SPEAKER_01: A three-hour long submarine movie that came out in the 70s.
[43:19] SPEAKER_04: A movie?
[43:19] SPEAKER_04: A three or four-hour submarine movie?
[43:21] SPEAKER_01: Das Boot.
[43:23] SPEAKER_01: Das Boot?
[43:24] SPEAKER_01: I'm sorry to all my German read to all the German.
[43:26] SPEAKER_01: I keep calling you guys my readers.
[43:27] SPEAKER_01: I know you guys are my listeners.
[43:28] SPEAKER_04: No, it's fun to say readers.
[43:30] SPEAKER_04: Yes.
[43:30] SPEAKER_04: My readers.
[43:31] SPEAKER_04: Troy.
[43:32] SPEAKER_01: I might have just totally butchered that name, but yes, in Das Boot, I remember in a few of those scenes, the submarine, like, if there was something going on, if they were in action or if they were arresting, I think it the whole ship went red on the inside.
[43:43] SPEAKER_04: Ya Sun's a red lights on! We actually we do have a pretty big German population who listens to us.
[43:48] SPEAKER_04: Guten Tag.
[43:50] SPEAKER_03: Okay.
[43:51] SPEAKER_03: So then Aang's like, oh no, the drill.
[43:54] SPEAKER_03: So then he goes back, tells the Aang, the Aang, tells the gang.
[43:58] SPEAKER_03: The Aang.
[44:00] SPEAKER_03: And the ing gang's like, ing, why you back?
[44:02] SPEAKER_03: I thought you went to find the furball anyway.
[44:04] SPEAKER_04: Yeah, because they had like a like a pretty emotional goodbye, like, we'll see ya when we see you.
[44:08] SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
[44:09] SPEAKER_03: And then Toph, superstar, is like, okay, and like amplifies everybody up, right?
[44:14] SPEAKER_03: On flight on the rock.
[44:15] SPEAKER_04: How long did it take them to like walk all the way over there?
[44:17] SPEAKER_04: Because it seemed like the wall was pretty far away.
[44:20] SPEAKER_03: Right.
[44:20] SPEAKER_03: I feel like Toph was like, oh, I could just like put us on.
[44:24] SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I'm like, why haven't we been doing this the whole time?
[44:26] SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
[44:26] SPEAKER_04: Okay, yeah.
[44:27] SPEAKER_04: So she elevators up to the top.
[44:29] SPEAKER_03: We meet the guy who's in charge.
[44:31] SPEAKER_03: Who's like, we don't need your help, Avatar, but obviously they do.
[44:36] SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and how long have they known about this drill?
[44:38] SPEAKER_04: I mean, they probably have seen it for a few days.
[44:41] SPEAKER_04: I mean, it's not moving very fast.
[44:44] SPEAKER_01: Right.
[44:44] SPEAKER_01: The first day they see it.
[44:46] SPEAKER_01: Hey, that looks like a drill.
[44:48] SPEAKER_01: What's a drill?
[44:48] SPEAKER_01: Yeah, what is what's the backstory of that drill?
[44:51] SPEAKER_04: So the backstory of the drill, here we go.
[44:54] SPEAKER_04: Uh, back in episode 17, the Northern Air Temple, when we meet the mechanist who was responsible for creating like the war balloon, you see blueprints for a large drill in his laboratory.
[45:11] SPEAKER_04: And the war minister guy, yes, Katie?
[45:14] SPEAKER_03: I was just gonna say laboratory.
[45:16] SPEAKER_02: Good one.
[45:17] SPEAKER_02: Laboratory.
[45:18] SPEAKER_04: So War Minister guy, the like the dude who's hanging out with the bad girls, it's the same guy from the Northern Air Temple episode who shows up.
[45:26] SPEAKER_04: You remember when he shows up the first time and Angle messes up his hair and he's like, Yeah, get out of here! Mm-hmm.
[45:31] SPEAKER_04: Fire Nation! So it's the same dude.
[45:34] SPEAKER_04: So he's like apparently like the mechanically technologically minded war minister guy.
[45:39] SPEAKER_04: So they have created a drill probably from the blueprints laid out by the mechanist.
[45:45] SPEAKER_01: And since the mechanist uh teamed up with Sokka and Aang in that one episode, I'm wondering if that drill was completed by that ups by that episode, because all this time that's gone by, if if that drill is relatively new, the mechanist could have totally tweaked it just a little bit to where the Aang gang could have easily, you know, taken it apart.
[46:07] SPEAKER_04: Well, I doubt that they had would have created it near the Northern Air Temple.
[46:11] SPEAKER_04: That would have made any sense to like construct this giant drill up there.
[46:15] SPEAKER_04: Right.
[46:16] SPEAKER_04: He probably was just like, oh, here's this idea.
[46:19] SPEAKER_04: Have fun committing genocide, leave me alone.
[46:23] SPEAKER_03: Okay.
[46:24] SPEAKER_03: So moving on.
[46:26] SPEAKER_03: They decide they're gonna go and take the drill apart from the inside.
[46:31] SPEAKER_03: Cause you know, Sokka's the brains coming up with the plan.
[46:35] SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah, because Tylee goes and takes away everybody's blocks their chi, and so we find out by the injured soldiers.
[46:43] SPEAKER_04: That scene where all the soldiers are like falling down and Ty Lee's like standing by and the camera's like panning around.
[46:48] SPEAKER_04: That was like one of the preview shots when they did like teaser trailers for The Secret of the Fire Nation hour-long special, and I distinctly remember that to this day.
[46:56] SPEAKER_04: Wow.
[46:57] SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
[46:57] SPEAKER_01: It was a pretty good scene.
[46:58] SPEAKER_01: I could see what they probably had really, really uh sinister music playing in the background.
[47:03] SPEAKER_04: I think they did, but it wasn't like the it wasn't her like hitting everybody, it was just the last guy falling.
[47:08] SPEAKER_01: The enemies are getting stronger and they're getting closer to Bong Singsei.
[47:12] SPEAKER_04: That wasn't it.
[47:12] SPEAKER_04: And you it sounded like it said Bong Singsei.
[47:15] SPEAKER_04: Okay, so this was a Doctor Movie episode.
[47:18] SPEAKER_03: Oh, clearly.
[47:20] SPEAKER_04: But it's interesting because they the art style was very different from the last Doctor Movie episode, The Desert.
[47:26] SPEAKER_04: Like, they looked it was very they looked more like JM.
[47:29] SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
[47:30] SPEAKER_03: No, it looked better, but still off.
[47:32] SPEAKER_03: Right.
[47:32] SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I know, because there was like just a couple scenes where it's like, you know, everyone's eyes are kind of doing weird things.
[47:38] SPEAKER_04: Or like face shapes got kind of angular at times.
[47:42] SPEAKER_04: It's we're really weird.
[47:43] SPEAKER_04: Also, Azula has only showed up to this at this point in Doctor Movie episodes.
[47:49] SPEAKER_03: Ugh.
[47:50] SPEAKER_04: Yep.
[47:50] SPEAKER_03: Well, that's too bad.
[47:52] SPEAKER_04: The only time we've seen her so far.
[47:54] SPEAKER_04: Which is really interesting because we've seen her like, what, four or five times now?
[47:57] SPEAKER_04: Doctor movie.
[47:58] SPEAKER_04: Every time.
[47:58] SPEAKER_03: Yeah, well sh maybe.
[48:00] SPEAKER_03: That's why they can't get it together, is they work so hard on making sure she looks good, but everybody else looks fugly.
[48:05] SPEAKER_04: Okay, can we talk about Azula's nails?
[48:08] SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
[48:08] SPEAKER_03: We've noticed this the whole time.
[48:09] SPEAKER_03: They're like long, like stiletto nails.
[48:12] SPEAKER_04: What does that do for you?
[48:13] SPEAKER_04: I mean, what what would bending be like with the I guess you I mean you're fine.
[48:16] SPEAKER_03: I mean, I think it'd be fine.
[48:17] SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
[48:18] SPEAKER_03: I don't think this is a big deal.
[48:19] SPEAKER_04: Ugh, Azula.
[48:20] SPEAKER_03: Okay.
[48:21] SPEAKER_03: So Top, superstar, right, takes takes the gang, makes the makes the poofy cloud.
[48:28] SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah.
[48:29] SPEAKER_03: Poof.
[48:29] SPEAKER_03: Mm-hmm.
[48:30] SPEAKER_03: And then takes them down underground.
[48:32] SPEAKER_03: And Saga's like, oh, it's so dark down here, like, can't see anything.
[48:37] SPEAKER_03: And she's like, oh no, what a nightmare.
[48:40] SPEAKER_03: That part's hilarious.
[48:42] SPEAKER_01: The biggest pun for her blindness ever delivered perfectly.
[48:45] SPEAKER_04: In the Indonesian version of the show, apparently they wrote it so Toph was scared when they went underground.
[48:52] SPEAKER_04: Classic.
[48:53] SPEAKER_04: Yeah, good one, guys.
[48:54] SPEAKER_04: No, so that that part's hilarious.
[48:56] SPEAKER_04: Oh no, what a nightmare.
[48:58] SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
[48:59] SPEAKER_04: And Jesse Flower, again, she is doing a really great job as Toph.
[49:03] SPEAKER_04: I think we're undervaluing Toph's like contributions to the team at this point.
[49:07] SPEAKER_04: Like, I don't know if anyone is really like taking a moment to be like, we would not be where we are right now without you, Toph.
[49:14] SPEAKER_03: Yeah, no, she's the MVP.
[49:16] SPEAKER_03: She's doing great.
[49:16] SPEAKER_04: They go in.
[49:18] SPEAKER_04: I don't know about the engineers that are working the drill.
[49:21] SPEAKER_04: Like, they're all a bunch of like gray-skinned muscular weirdos.
[49:24] SPEAKER_03: You don't know they're weird.
[49:26] SPEAKER_04: They seem kind of weird.
[49:27] SPEAKER_03: They're just muscular.
[49:30] SPEAKER_04: Yeah, where's my graphic novel exploring the life of the engineers within the drill?
[49:34] SPEAKER_01: So they're probably pale and muscular because there's no sunlight down there and they're not.
[49:38] SPEAKER_04: But they're not like pale, they're just kind of gray.
[49:40] SPEAKER_01: Yes.
[49:40] SPEAKER_01: Well, they're probably doing they're probably dealing with different chemicals.
[49:44] SPEAKER_01: Ammonia is a big chemical that goes into a lot of engineering.
[49:48] SPEAKER_01: So that would that would explain their gray skin and there are gas masks.
[49:51] SPEAKER_03: Well, you're also surrounded by what?
[49:53] SPEAKER_03: Metal?
[49:53] SPEAKER_03: And there's no like natural sunlight.
[49:55] SPEAKER_01: Right.
[49:56] SPEAKER_04: Okay, you guys.
[49:57] SPEAKER_04: Okay.
[49:57] SPEAKER_03: We need to move on.
[49:58] SPEAKER_04: What do we think about their plan to cut through all these bru like giant metal braces to take down the drill?
[50:05] SPEAKER_01: I wasn't buying the whole water slicing through metal.
[50:08] SPEAKER_04: I think it can if you like if it goes fast enough.
[50:10] SPEAKER_01: The way they were doing it, I just didn't seem like it was fast enough.
[50:13] SPEAKER_04: No, I I it was exhausting to watch.
[50:16] SPEAKER_04: It was kind of it would definitely kind of slowed down the pace of the whole episode.
[50:20] SPEAKER_01: I do wonder how hard it would have been for her.
[50:22] SPEAKER_01: Sorry.
[50:23] SPEAKER_04: For her to Troy just punched the laptop.
[50:25] SPEAKER_04: By the laptop, the desktop.
[50:27] SPEAKER_03: Wow.
[50:28] SPEAKER_03: No, it's fine.
[50:29] SPEAKER_03: It's fine.
[50:30] SPEAKER_01: If she just put like a made the water into like a little ring and just had it spinning around instead of playing catch with Aang for about, I'm sure what felt like eternity to them.
[50:40] SPEAKER_04: Or like freezing it, because the water would have expanded and it would have like Again, yeah.
[50:45] SPEAKER_01: Just another one of those, like, there's m there's many ways to do this, but it feels like skin a cat.
[50:49] SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we're we're uh we're choosing the hardest way possible.
[50:53] SPEAKER_04: Also, it's a hydraulic system, so they could have just ransacked the like pipes and the valves, and that probably would have done it too.
[51:00] SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I feel like that were there was definitely a missed opportunity.
[51:04] SPEAKER_03: And it was hard coming from the Serpent's Pass, where I feel like that was so like there's so much going on, and there wasn't as much happening with the drill.
[51:12] SPEAKER_03: This was definitely just a little slower paced.
[51:15] SPEAKER_04: Apparently, people in the fandom maybe don't love the drill episode, and so I have a lot of nostalgia for the drill.
[51:21] SPEAKER_04: Like I would watch the Serpent's Pass and the Drill like pretty regularly.
[51:26] SPEAKER_04: Like if I was gonna re-watch an episode, it was sometimes just those two episodes.
[51:31] SPEAKER_04: Like I really liked them for some reason.
[51:33] SPEAKER_04: And I think I I think I had DVR'd them too.
[51:36] SPEAKER_04: So it was like one of the first things I DVR'd, so I'd watch it a few times.
[51:39] SPEAKER_04: I've seen these episodes probably more than many most of the other ones.
[51:43] SPEAKER_04: Many most.
[51:44] SPEAKER_03: Many most.
[51:45] SPEAKER_03: Also, I'm pretty sure I said paste instead of pace.
[51:50] SPEAKER_03: That's fine.
[51:51] SPEAKER_03: To let me know.
[51:52] SPEAKER_04: I will.
[51:53] SPEAKER_04: When I edit this episode.
[51:55] SPEAKER_03: Also, when we're thinking about what's happening with Zuko and Iro.
[52:00] SPEAKER_04: Their names are Lee and Mushi.
[52:02] SPEAKER_03: Not Mishi.
[52:03] SPEAKER_03: Is that what she's saying?
[52:04] SPEAKER_04: No, she said Mushi.
[52:06] SPEAKER_04: Mushy.
[52:07] SPEAKER_04: She said Mushy.
[52:08] SPEAKER_04: Do you think they're gonna go on a date?
[52:09] SPEAKER_04: Do you think there's like a future there?
[52:11] SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
[52:11] SPEAKER_03: You're not shipping them?
[52:12] SPEAKER_03: Well, there was no baby.
[52:14] SPEAKER_03: Well, Zuko's kind of a baby.
[52:16] SPEAKER_03: But he's like, I'm gonna forget all this, or I'm gonna pretend like whatever.
[52:20] SPEAKER_04: It doesn't count when the baby's talking.
[52:21] SPEAKER_04: Ugh, coldest tea and bossing, say.
[52:24] SPEAKER_03: No, poor uncle, that was rough.
[52:26] SPEAKER_03: But yeah.
[52:27] SPEAKER_04: He will cry over spilt tea.
[52:29] SPEAKER_04: I don't know why he sounds kind of like Batman.
[52:32] SPEAKER_04: So what you don't notice is that when Zuko and Jed are having their like bro moment in the background, you see Iroh holding his cold tea, and he looks around a few times.
[52:41] SPEAKER_04: Like he's getting he gets pretty shifty over the course of like a couple seconds, and then he kind of like turns his body away from the camera, and then when he turns back in the background, he's got a steaming cup of tea.
[52:51] SPEAKER_04: So that's pretty great.
[52:53] SPEAKER_01: I'm wondering why uh I couldn't figure out why uh Jet was looking at Iroh in almost like horror and disdain.
[53:01] SPEAKER_01: Because he would be firebending.
[53:03] SPEAKER_01: Right, didn't I didn't catch on?
[53:04] SPEAKER_01: I was like, I was like, oh look, Iroh finally found some hot tea.
[53:07] SPEAKER_01: Didn't taunt on me that it was the same tea.
[53:10] SPEAKER_04: But it's definitely Jet's paranoia that even if he was just an innocent man, like getting a hot cup of tea, even if that was the case, Jet was still gonna go after him.
[53:20] SPEAKER_04: That's like the scary part.
[53:22] SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I know Jet's definitely uh unstable.
[53:25] SPEAKER_03: And right at that point just tried to convert Zuko, and it was like, join our crew, and you know, Zuko's like, thanks, but no thanks.
[53:34] SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I'm just I'm just counting down the time until him and Zuko break up.
[53:39] SPEAKER_04: Zuko and Jet?
[53:40] SPEAKER_01: Yep.
[53:40] SPEAKER_04: Yeah, well.
[53:41] SPEAKER_04: I think they've probably kind of already broken up.
[53:43] SPEAKER_03: I think that's happened already.
[53:44] SPEAKER_04: Yep.
[53:44] SPEAKER_04: So what do you think?
[53:45] SPEAKER_04: Where do you think this they go from here, Jet and Zuko?
[53:48] SPEAKER_04: You have read all the episode titles.
[53:50] SPEAKER_01: Katara?
[53:51] SPEAKER_01: Yeah, in that one episode, she froze Jet to a tree.
[53:54] SPEAKER_01: I can imagine.
[53:59] SPEAKER_01: That sounds yes, that's how I see that going.
[54:02] SPEAKER_01: Just to really get the message.
[54:04] SPEAKER_01: Or he might threaten all the whole squad with fire.
[54:07] SPEAKER_04: Well, the next episode is called Jet Fuel.
[54:10] SPEAKER_04: So that's not called Jet Fuel.
[54:14] SPEAKER_04: That was a joke for me.
[54:16] SPEAKER_03: Okay, you know, can we go back to the drill?
[54:18] SPEAKER_03: No.
[54:19] SPEAKER_01: That drill toy looks like it was like modeled after the Titanic in a way.
[54:22] SPEAKER_01: No.
[54:23] SPEAKER_01: No, no.
[54:23] SPEAKER_01: No.
[54:24] SPEAKER_01: Have you seen the Titanic?
[54:25] SPEAKER_01: Yes.
[54:26] SPEAKER_01: It doesn't.
[54:26] SPEAKER_01: They look like they were about the same size, roughly.
[54:29] SPEAKER_03: Hey, hey.
[54:30] SPEAKER_03: The uh pace in this episode is kind of like the drill for me.
[54:33] SPEAKER_04: We need to just speed it up.
[54:36] SPEAKER_04: Let's keep talking.
[54:37] SPEAKER_03: I have to talk about when they finally, like, I don't know, plug up the drill.
[54:43] SPEAKER_04: Like when Katara and Toph like shove the slurry up into it.
[54:47] SPEAKER_04: Mm-hmm.
[54:48] SPEAKER_04: Alright.
[54:48] SPEAKER_03: Which is good.
[54:49] SPEAKER_03: But the sludge kind of looks like fake cheese, like gravy or something.
[54:54] SPEAKER_03: It's like fake cheese gravy.
[54:55] SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's like cool gravy.
[54:57] SPEAKER_01: Like I get to understand like why some of the kids thought it'd be fun and to jump in and why the one girl was like, I'm not doing it.
[55:05] SPEAKER_01: They didn't think it was fun.
[55:06] SPEAKER_01: They had to escape being like murdered.
[55:08] SPEAKER_03: I kind of think Tylie thought it was fun.
[55:10] SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah.
[55:10] SPEAKER_04: She totally jumped in, like, oh, you're lost.
[55:13] SPEAKER_04: I don't know if she thought it was fun.
[55:14] SPEAKER_04: She was like, there's no problem here.
[55:15] SPEAKER_04: It was very it was a it was a Katie moment, I think.
[55:18] SPEAKER_03: Uh yeah.
[55:18] SPEAKER_03: I'm like, oh, fake cheese uh gravy.
[55:21] SPEAKER_04: Fake cheese gravy train?
[55:22] SPEAKER_04: I'm in.
[55:23] SPEAKER_04: Choo choo! No, I am not in.
[55:25] SPEAKER_04: It's called slurry, which is a real word, which is dirt and water mixed together.
[55:29] SPEAKER_01: So I had a big question about tofu.
[55:33] SPEAKER_04: Who's I don't know who tof is.
[55:35] SPEAKER_04: Uh tofu is a thing.
[55:37] SPEAKER_04: Tofu Grace is a person.
[55:42] SPEAKER_04: I I could tell you about toff, yeah.
[55:44] SPEAKER_01: Okay, not tofu.
[55:46] SPEAKER_01: I I don't know much about tofu.
[55:48] SPEAKER_01: So Toff, I thought she had to be connected to an element in order to control it.
[55:54] SPEAKER_01: Like literally touching the object in order to control it.
[55:57] SPEAKER_01: So as there all that cheesy gravy is coming out the back of the drill.
[56:02] SPEAKER_04: Please don't say cheesy gravy.
[56:04] SPEAKER_04: The cheesy discharge.
[56:05] SPEAKER_01: Britney's in this this this gravy train.
[56:08] SPEAKER_01: And it's coming out.
[56:10] SPEAKER_01: And I think Katara is saying, telling Toph, she goes, help me out, and Toph is without even touching it, just holds it back.
[56:18] SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I I guess up until this point we've seen Toph bend Earth when she is touching it in some way.
[56:25] SPEAKER_04: But even though, I mean, she was like bending out like pieces of the mountain in the Serpent's Pass episode.
[56:31] SPEAKER_04: But this one, I think she could probably just feel the vibration of the drill and kind of understand that there was like earth in that water.
[56:38] SPEAKER_01: Okay, so she was connected to the earth, which was connected to the drill, which was connected to the No, I don't think that's it.
[56:43] SPEAKER_04: I don't think she has to be connected.
[56:44] SPEAKER_04: Kind of like if you were standing here and you could bend like a rock formation that was in the distance.
[56:50] SPEAKER_04: Okay.
[56:50] SPEAKER_04: I mean, technically you're attached.
[56:52] SPEAKER_04: I mean, the all all of the earth is attached to all of the earth, so in that case, that makes sense.
[56:58] SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I think as long as there is earth and rock for her to bend, she can like quote unquote see and move it.
[57:05] SPEAKER_04: But Katara, she doesn't need to touch the water.
[57:08] SPEAKER_04: I mean, she's like bending the elements.
[57:10] SPEAKER_01: Skipping ahead a couple minutes into the this episode.
[57:13] SPEAKER_01: Am I the only one who's not no, of course not the only guy who's noticing this stuff.
[57:18] SPEAKER_01: Uh Aang.
[57:19] SPEAKER_01: Of course not.
[57:21] SPEAKER_01: What a finally growing up.
[57:24] SPEAKER_01: He's gotten very serious about what needs to be done.
[57:26] SPEAKER_01: You say this every episode.
[57:28] SPEAKER_01: He's he put the rock in the train, runs up.
[57:31] SPEAKER_04: He put the rock in the train?
[57:33] SPEAKER_04: It's not the train! Troy! It's not cheese train, it's the gravy train.
[57:41] SPEAKER_01: The way he took it down, and Azula just barely missed him with another blue fireball, whatever she shoots.
[57:48] SPEAKER_03: Psychotic Azula.
[57:49] SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah.
[57:51] SPEAKER_01: No, I can see why you DVR's this episode.
[57:53] SPEAKER_01: This is one of the best written and best directed episodes, even though it was direct even though the animation did come from Dr.
[58:01] SPEAKER_01: Movie, it was still a great episode.
[58:03] SPEAKER_04: I think Mike and Brian will be very happy to hear you say that because they co-wrote this episode.
[58:06] SPEAKER_04: And they haven't they haven't co-written an episode in a while.
[58:09] SPEAKER_04: So like the creators did this episode.
[58:11] SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
[58:12] SPEAKER_04: But they couldn't say, hey JM, can you animate this one?
[58:14] SPEAKER_04: Like speed up the pace a little bit.
[58:16] SPEAKER_03: Yeah, they obviously weren't bothered by it.
[58:18] SPEAKER_04: No.
[58:19] SPEAKER_04: So I did I did appreciate Ang's uh ability to take charge of that situation.
[58:24] SPEAKER_04: Like he went at it alone, he didn't need anybody's help.
[58:27] SPEAKER_04: He was able to effectively like figure out the best way to create like a wedge to destroy the the drill.
[58:37] SPEAKER_04: But did he use airbending or earth bending or a combination of the two when he like ran down the side of the room?
[58:42] SPEAKER_04: He's starting to combine.
[58:43] SPEAKER_01: He's starting to combine his powers, which I have a mad respect for.
[58:46] SPEAKER_01: I'm like, yes, that's what I've been waiting for.
[58:48] SPEAKER_01: And to like literally start combining the elements together.
[58:51] SPEAKER_03: Yeah, we had to practice, Troy.
[58:53] SPEAKER_01: I know.
[58:54] SPEAKER_01: He's 12, dang it.
[58:55] SPEAKER_01: Well, when's he gonna be 13?
[58:57] SPEAKER_03: No birthdays?
[58:58] SPEAKER_03: I don't think we celebrate birthdays.
[58:59] SPEAKER_01: He's been 12 for 112 years, huh?
[59:01] SPEAKER_04: Poor guy.
[59:02] SPEAKER_03: Well, they're probably Jehovah.
[59:03] SPEAKER_04: Okay, so Avatar Extras.
[59:05] SPEAKER_04: That was a little thing that Nickelodeon did to.
[59:07] SPEAKER_03: What about being Jehovah?
[59:09] SPEAKER_03: What's going on?
[59:10] SPEAKER_03: That's a bad joke about like no birthday parties.
[59:13] SPEAKER_03: What reaction.
[59:18] SPEAKER_04: Okay.
[59:18] SPEAKER_04: So Avatar Extra is the thing Nickelodeon did where they would play the episode along with like little bubbles that popped up.
[59:24] SPEAKER_04: In this episode, they like objectified the boys throughout.
[59:30] SPEAKER_04: Like at one point they were like, oh, Zuko and Jet, those handsome devils.
[59:35] SPEAKER_04: Or said something like that.
[59:36] SPEAKER_04: Call them handsome devils, and then at one point called Sokka a stud.
[59:41] SPEAKER_03: Wait, who?
[59:42] SPEAKER_04: Avatar Extra.
[59:43] SPEAKER_04: So it would be the Nickelodeon aired the episode, and then the team created little like factoids to like pop up throughout the episode.
[59:52] SPEAKER_04: And so in this episode, the drill, they like used a few of them to like objectify the boys.
[59:58] SPEAKER_04: It was kind of weird.
[1:00:00] SPEAKER_03: I love when people overcorrect.
[1:00:02] SPEAKER_04: I know, I think that's definitely a thing.
[1:00:03] SPEAKER_04: You're like, oh hey boys, I'm a boy too.
[1:00:05] SPEAKER_04: You want to slap my butt?
[1:00:06] SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
[1:00:08] SPEAKER_04: Yeah, because they definitely wouldn't be like, look how cute Toph is.
[1:00:11] SPEAKER_04: Oh, there's Katara looking pretty sexy.
[1:00:14] SPEAKER_04: Like it just wouldn't wouldn't have flown.
[1:00:16] SPEAKER_03: Well, I just don't think it should it happen at all.
[1:00:18] SPEAKER_04: Just in general.
[1:00:19] SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
[1:00:20] SPEAKER_04: I mean, granted, Jet and Zuko are handsome devils.
[1:00:24] SPEAKER_04: Troy?
[1:00:24] SPEAKER_04: Handsome devils?
[1:00:26] SPEAKER_04: Troy kind of has Zuko's haircut right now.
[1:00:28] SPEAKER_03: Well, Zuko's the best one.
[1:00:30] SPEAKER_04: So that's a you are the most handsome devil.
[1:00:32] SPEAKER_04: I actually think Jet's the handsome devil.
[1:00:35] SPEAKER_03: Nope.
[1:00:36] SPEAKER_04: Still forgettable.
[1:00:37] SPEAKER_04: Alright, we're gonna agree to disagree here.
[1:00:39] SPEAKER_03: Okay, let's.
[1:00:40] SPEAKER_01: Jet's gonna become fueled by Uncle Iro.
[1:00:43] SPEAKER_01: Jet fuel.
[1:00:44] SPEAKER_03: Hold on.
[1:00:45] SPEAKER_03: So we stopped the drill, right?
[1:00:47] SPEAKER_03: It pops.
[1:00:48] SPEAKER_03: Okay.
[1:00:49] SPEAKER_03: And then all of a sudden the gang's on the wall and it's like, oh, we did it.
[1:00:53] SPEAKER_03: Blah blah blah.
[1:00:54] SPEAKER_03: Like, let's come up with our names.
[1:00:55] SPEAKER_03: But where'd the bad girls go?
[1:00:58] SPEAKER_03: Where'd the fire crew grow go?
[1:01:00] SPEAKER_03: Like everybody just pieced out?
[1:01:02] SPEAKER_04: I think they're probably just in the drill still.
[1:01:04] SPEAKER_04: Just like, uh, what are we gonna do?
[1:01:07] SPEAKER_04: Plot hole.
[1:01:07] SPEAKER_04: Well, it's not a plot hole, we just didn't see it.
[1:01:10] SPEAKER_04: It doesn't have to be seen.
[1:01:11] SPEAKER_04: Well, are we gonna see it next?
[1:01:12] SPEAKER_04: I don't know, Katie.
[1:01:14] SPEAKER_03: Troy and I are visual.
[1:01:15] SPEAKER_01: You've seen the series.
[1:01:17] SPEAKER_01: And I haven't spelt it out for me yet, whether or not they're still in that drill.
[1:01:20] SPEAKER_03: Also, is cabbages gonna be here?
[1:01:23] SPEAKER_01: Is he in the drill?
[1:01:24] SPEAKER_03: Is he Fire Nation?
[1:01:26] SPEAKER_04: Oh my god.
[1:01:26] SPEAKER_04: He gave me another spy.
[1:01:28] SPEAKER_04: That's what those cabbages really were.
[1:01:29] SPEAKER_04: They're all little Fire Nation babies, and you plant them in the ground, they turn into soldiers.
[1:01:33] SPEAKER_01: Whoa that's genius.
[1:01:34] SPEAKER_04: Okay, I don't believe how mechanically minded Sokka is, coming from the southern water tribe where the most mechanically advanced thing was an igloo.
[1:01:44] SPEAKER_03: It's because he's a man and he just knows that instinctively.
[1:01:46] SPEAKER_04: I don't I think we missed.
[1:01:48] SPEAKER_04: Speaking of plot holes, I think there's a plot hole where Sokka learns how to read schematics and understand how a giant metal machine from the Fire Nation works and the best way to take it down.
[1:01:59] SPEAKER_04: We just kind of accept the fact that Katara Aang and Sokka can all put their heads together and figure out a way to dismantle this giant killing machine.
[1:02:06] SPEAKER_03: Right.
[1:02:06] SPEAKER_03: And we're all inspired by it.
[1:02:08] SPEAKER_03: That's why the three of us are doing this.
[1:02:09] SPEAKER_04: So we're gonna go take down a giant metal machine?
[1:02:12] SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
[1:02:12] SPEAKER_04: There's one across the street.
[1:02:13] SPEAKER_01: Just don't expect me to look at the schematics and figure out how to take it down.
[1:02:17] SPEAKER_04: So the bracing here, we'll just get some water, we're gonna break that up, take it all down.
[1:02:22] SPEAKER_04: That's right.
[1:02:23] SPEAKER_04: Okay.
[1:02:24] SPEAKER_04: For what we know, the threat of the Fire Nation has subsided for right now, and all of our friends are heading into Bossing Se.
[1:02:30] SPEAKER_04: We have Jet Smellerby and Longshot creeping in like the subway Earth monorail behind Zuko and Iroh, who are going.
[1:02:37] SPEAKER_03: And they're sitting next to the new family well, not the new family.
[1:02:41] SPEAKER_03: The family that has a new baby.
[1:02:42] SPEAKER_04: Yeah, because they have a teenage daughter, and maybe they're married, maybe they're not, maybe they're brother and sister, maybe they're just two friends, maybe they're brother and sister.
[1:02:48] SPEAKER_04: I think I'm sticking with that one.
[1:02:49] SPEAKER_03: Man, why don't you say maybe they're brother and sister one more time?
[1:02:52] SPEAKER_01: I don't know about that, but I will say this.
[1:02:54] SPEAKER_01: I give both these episodes eight yips.
[1:02:56] SPEAKER_03: Wow.
[1:02:57] SPEAKER_01: Man, he's yipping.
[1:02:58] SPEAKER_00: Yep, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep.
[1:03:01] SPEAKER_04: Did you count those?
[1:03:02] SPEAKER_04: I think so.
[1:03:02] SPEAKER_04: Alright.
[1:03:03] SPEAKER_04: So what do we think Zuko and Iroh's plan is right now?
[1:03:07] SPEAKER_03: Why are you looking at me?
[1:03:08] SPEAKER_03: I've seen it.
[1:03:09] SPEAKER_03: I don't remember, but I've seen it.
[1:03:11] SPEAKER_03: Oh wait, I think I do know.
[1:03:12] SPEAKER_03: Okay, go.
[1:03:13] SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's interesting.
[1:03:14] SPEAKER_01: I don't think Zuko knows what his next goal is, other than to just seek a new life in Ba Sing Sang.
[1:03:22] SPEAKER_04: Ba Sing Sei.
[1:03:24] SPEAKER_03: Ba Sing Sai.
[1:03:25] SPEAKER_04: Which means the impenetrable city.
[1:03:28] SPEAKER_04: Or you can also translate it into the eternally solid city.
[1:03:32] SPEAKER_03: But wait, what is a new life?
[1:03:33] SPEAKER_03: What does that look like in your mind for them?
[1:03:36] SPEAKER_01: Well, obviously, Iroh is drinking tea every day.
[1:03:41] SPEAKER_01: That's the part I can't guess on, because I don't know.
[1:03:44] SPEAKER_01: All I know about his personality is that he was banned from the Fire Nation.
[1:03:47] SPEAKER_01: Now that you know so much about his personality.
[1:03:50] SPEAKER_03: Right.
[1:03:50] SPEAKER_03: Are they gonna have to start selling their own cabbages?
[1:03:52] SPEAKER_03: Or what's are they gonna be musicians on the street?
[1:03:55] SPEAKER_03: Like what does that mean?
[1:03:57] SPEAKER_01: I mean, only time will tell.
[1:03:59] SPEAKER_04: I I do think it's uh it's been interesting to see in these episodes, like a little bit how relevant it is today with the refugee situation going into Bossingsei.
[1:04:11] SPEAKER_04: And I think it's nice that they humanize the refugees and they don't make it sound like this bad, scary thing that they're having to like go infiltrate Bossing Sei.
[1:04:22] SPEAKER_04: And that's something that's really bothered me about today's like geopolitical climate, is that we uh take away the humanity from refugees and we don't we don't have empathy with their strife and what they're coming from.
[1:04:35] SPEAKER_04: Like if you people, if you disagree with me, think about the world of Avatar right now as a as a parallel to what's going on in our real world.
[1:04:42] SPEAKER_04: You have the Fire Nation who's trying to destroy these people's land, their lives, their way of life, and they have to go escape and find refuge in a place that will accept them and will give them an opportunity for a better way of life.
[1:04:55] SPEAKER_03: Right.
[1:04:55] SPEAKER_03: And that also means like going over the serpent's pass and like kind of in these and eating really crummy food and or things that maybe like like food or water that's not safe to consume and and yeah, and it's not the I mean, for example, Iroh and Zuko aren't going to Boston say to overtake it, and you know, it's like right, they're just going there to to live in peace.
[1:05:20] SPEAKER_04: Yeah, they're not going there to take advantage of it.
[1:05:22] SPEAKER_04: They're going there to I mean, Iroh wants to go to contribute and to find like happiness and to you have someone like Iroh who that's his mindset, who objectively makes everyone around him and everywhere he's at a better place with his what wisdom and love.
[1:05:40] SPEAKER_04: And I just think people need to be more understanding of that worldwide, that people who are refugees aren't scary and they're not coming here to pillage our lands or take away our opportunities.
[1:05:51] SPEAKER_04: They're here to enhance our lives and enhance their life, and it's a win-win situation.
[1:05:56] SPEAKER_03: Well, and the other thing about that is most people want to be home.
[1:06:01] SPEAKER_03: And like this isn't their first choice, you know, or even their second or third choice a lot of times.
[1:06:07] SPEAKER_03: It's like this is just the only option.
[1:06:09] SPEAKER_04: Right, in a perfect world, they would be where they would want to be, which is where most of the time where they're from, and they would want that to be a better place, but sometimes it's just not an not an opportunity.
[1:06:20] SPEAKER_03: So with that, be kind to each other.
[1:06:24] SPEAKER_04: Love first, judge less, express yourself.
[1:06:28] SPEAKER_03: Express yourself.
[1:06:29] SPEAKER_04: Alright, kids, we're heading into Bossing Sei in these next episodes, and we are sprinting to the finish of book two, which Troy knows every episode.
[1:06:38] SPEAKER_04: So until next time, may we enter the great city of Bossing Sei.
[1:06:44] SPEAKER_03: Yep, yep.
[1:06:45] SPEAKER_03: Yep, yep.
[1:06:46] SPEAKER_04: Yep, yep.
[1:06:55] SPEAKER_04: Like a one-on-one conversation about Super Smash?
[1:06:58] SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
[1:06:58] SPEAKER_04: You want to smash?
[1:07:01] SPEAKER_04: He played as the Wii Sword Fighter.
[1:07:03] SPEAKER_04: The Wii Oh, the Me Sword Fighter.
[1:07:06] SPEAKER_04: Did he have like a f like a face?
[1:07:07] SPEAKER_04: Was it his face?
[1:07:09] SPEAKER_01: No.
[1:07:09] SPEAKER_01: Hmm.
[1:07:10] SPEAKER_04: Just the Just the generic.
[1:07:12] SPEAKER_04: Generic face.
[1:07:13] SPEAKER_04: You could like get cusc like costumes for that.
[1:07:15] SPEAKER_04: Like you can you can make it look like you or I.
[1:07:17] SPEAKER_04: Oh, you want some chapstick?
[1:07:19] SPEAKER_04: Are we touching lips?
[1:07:20] SPEAKER_02: No, I'm just I'm just bringing awareness.
[1:07:23] SPEAKER_02: Wait, it was kind of like, uh, is the me sore f storage fighter.
[1:07:28] SPEAKER_02: When I think about two, my kaboom.
[1:07:30] SPEAKER_04: When he went kaboom, my lips got moist.
[1:07:34] SPEAKER_04: Kaboom.
[1:07:35] SPEAKER_04: Instant chap.
[1:07:36] SPEAKER_04: You guys want a chap?
[1:07:37] SPEAKER_02: Okay, are we checking this out?
[1:07:39] SPEAKER_02: Chap chap.
