[0:02] This is a Beware moment, the most replayed moments from my
[0:05] latest conversation. It's a glimpse into the wider
[0:08] episode, which you can find LinkedIn the show notes below.
[0:12] Because sometimes one small moment is enough to reconnect to
[0:16] living well and being well. There's quite a lot that I want
[0:23] to talk about with vibrators. I've never said that on this
[0:26] podcast in my life. So we better start now.
[0:29] But it's interesting. I think a lot of men, and you
[0:32] mentioned it in your book, can be worried about vibrators
[0:36] replacing them or, you know, a bit worried that they're not the
[0:40] ones making a woman orgasm. Like how can we help men feel
[0:44] more secure in an environment for a woman to bring this into
[0:48] their relationship? Absolutely.
[0:50] So a lot of men are threatened because they think it's their
[0:53] job to give a woman an orgasm with their penis.
[0:57] So let's break that down. First of all, you're very few
[1:01] women. You're going to give it through
[1:02] your penis. And it's nobody's job to give
[1:05] anyone else an orgasm. We all are responsible for our
[1:09] own pleasure. And this also isn't in the book,
[1:12] but think about intercourse. Men can adjust their thrusting
[1:19] based on immediate sensory feedback.
[1:21] Oh, I want to thrust a little harder, little shallower, a
[1:25] little. Like you get sensory feedback
[1:28] and you respond to it. There is no sex act where women
[1:33] can respond to their own sensory feedback unless they're touching
[1:39] themselves with their hand or a vibrator while their partner
[1:43] touches their breasts while during intercourse.
[1:47] So it gives the woman the power that men have over their bodies.
[1:51] And if men really need to understand that their job is not
[1:57] to make a woman orgasm to but to make her feel safe enough that
[2:03] she feels comfortable sharing how she orgasms, that's the job
[2:09] not to give her one to make her feel safe.
[2:12] And it's no less sex for the women out there.
[2:14] If you touch yourself, it's a most many women, it's the only
[2:18] way they can and think about this metaphor.
[2:22] I'd like to share this. If you were on a raft in a
[2:25] swimming pool and you were with your partner and you had a
[2:28] lovely day. You were kissing in the pool,
[2:31] you were kissing on the raft, you were laughing.
[2:34] You just had a grand old time. You wouldn't go home and call
[2:38] your friend and go, oh, me and my raft had so much fun.
[2:43] Oh, and my boyfriend was there too.
[2:45] You wouldn't even mention the raft because it was just a tool
[2:49] to enhance your shared experience.
[2:52] And that's the same with vibrators.
[2:54] Well, I mean, I found it fascinating in your book when
[2:59] you talked about the right, like how they came about vibrators,
[3:02] the rise of vibrators, basically from the Victorian era.
[3:06] Can you just touch upon the hysteria of women I.
[3:10] Can, but unfortunately that's been proven to be false.
[3:14] Has it? Yes.
[3:16] Oh my. God, I know, I love the story,
[3:19] story, I know, I know, but apparently it's not true.
[3:24] There was a whole book on this that I read to put it in there,
[3:27] and that books been proven false.
[3:31] So I can't. I can't.
[3:33] It's not true. That's the one part of the book
[3:35] that's not true. Everything else is true.
[3:38] Okay, well. To.
[3:39] Just to. Continue this on myth.
[3:42] It was literally men. Women didn't think they could
[3:44] orgasm and they would go to the doctors and a doctor would
[3:48] basically perform an orgasm on a woman.
[3:50] Yes to. Cure her hysteria and then the
[3:53] doctor's hands were getting tired, so they invented the.
[3:57] Vibrator, but it's not. True, that's not true.
[3:59] But what is true is that these have been around for a long
[4:03] time, and they used to be advertised in women's magazines
[4:07] as household tools like disguise.
[4:11] But women knew what they were all along, like massagers and
[4:15] you know, that kind of thing. That is amazing.
[4:21] Well, I was literally looking on a delivery app.
[4:24] I don't know if you have ZAP in America, but in the UK and
[4:27] literally as I was going through my groceries, then there was
[4:29] just these vibrators that were coming up.
[4:31] They were like on delivery really.
[4:34] And I was like, wow, this is like an advancement.
[4:37] Yeah, yeah, it is I. Feel Vibrator.
[4:41] I I've never well, you got them at the same store in the US, but
[4:45] that's fabulous. It's amazing.
[4:51] Thank you for listening to this Be well moment.
[4:53] If it resonated, the full conversation is LinkedIn, the
[4:57] show notes, and I hope it gave you a small pause to take a
[5:01] moment for you and to reconnect to living well and being well.
[5:05] If you loved it, please do leave a review, follow the show or
[5:08] share this maybe with someone you love.
